Fine, just fine!

By charles s |

If you are going to see a show at the Keller and don't want to fight parking or having to move your car between diner and the show, this is a Ok option. The food was fine and there were plenty of options on the buffett. Drinks were overpriced but well made and I did not expect much else from an event venue. I will most likely be back, as it is a fine option and I don't think there are many great options around the Keller for a pre show bite.

We liked it

This was easy and convenient, They set up in the lobby and it is a catered buffet. I really liked the food a couple thi gs were dry but overall this was very nice. There were just 2 of us but if you are in a larger group it looked awkward, the tables are tiny and if you had 3 people they put you at the same tiny table. I will surly eat here again .

Dinner Before Nutcracker

It was very nice and unrushed to enter Keller 1 and half hours before performance. We had a delicious dinner and then ambled to our seats! Beat the parking crowd too! We will definitely eat here again.

Convenient and good food

We watched the Lion King at the Keller auditorium. We are from out of town, so trying to find a place to eat before the performance was difficult. Then we learned that the Keller Café offers meals before the performance. We got in early and we got to eat. The buffet was not huge, but the food was good and both my wife and I were full. Wait staff was friendly and we did not have to wait long for anything that we asked for. We got to eat, walk across the room and into the auditorium. What could be better?

Nice buffet, very convenient

Going to see The King and I so made reservations at the cafe. Food was hot and tasty, deserts were quite good and overall very satisfying. Coffee was good, sodas are way too expensive ($4.75). Menu is available on their website. A quick note. No matter what the website offers, reservations are not available before 6:00 pm. You will stand at the entry door until then. Also, if you want a window table, ask for it in the comments area.

Dinner before the show

We have come to the Keller cafe several times before shows at the Keller Auditorium. They usually try to construct a menu that fits the theme of the show. The meal is served buffet style with a carving station usually part of the mix. We have always been pleased with the quality of the food, and there is always a good selection of vegetables, both in a salad and cooked. This is a leisurely way to start a show.

Just Not Worth It Anymore

The claim to fame for the Keller Cafe is the convenience factor if you're going to a show at the Keller. We've been season subscribers for 3 seasons now & more often than not have dinner before the show at the Keller Cafe. After last night (Friday, 6/17/16) never again. For the third time this season, they ran out of food long before guests were ready to be done. Last night it was the seasonal fruit & melons they ran out of; I recall another time it was the mushroom soup. Just no excuse for that. As for the food that they did have, some is very good to excellent; other is okay; & some is almost inedible. Beef dishes are consistently overdone (way beyond well done). Last night's beef dish was no exception -- looked like shoe leather & was sorely lacking in taste. The salad last night, basically a greek salad, was fantastic & the star of the night. The white cheddar risotto was pretty good too -- it would have been excellent if at least warm rather than cold. At $25 per person you can do better.

Pre show buffet

This Cafe is located inside Keller Auditorium and ate there prior to a show. The have a buffet matched to the show. The champagne vinaigrette was very tasty as was the mashed potatos. The chicken was tasty but a bit dry. The pork was great. The tiramuse was creamy and almost melted in my mouth. The cocktail rum from away was not too strong or too sweet, the perfect cocktail to go with dinner. Overall, a good pre show dinner with some very great items. Would eat there again pre show

Keep the food hot

By nelsondw205 |

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Look into the problem you have with keeping the food warm. We have been subscribers since the cafe began and have had dinners there each time before a show. Never have we had the problem we have had in the meals for Pretty Women and Cats. We have noticed that the sterno pots are not on and therefore the food is cold. All the food is very good but during our mean at Cats the soup was cool, the asparagus was cold, the stuffed chicken breast was cool, the meatballs were a little warm, the coffee was nice and hot and the cake was great and the fruit plate was very good. Now we looked on all the trays of food and did not see or feel the sterno pots being on - WHYNOT!!! During our time with years we have been there we have never had this problem. PLEASE CORRECT THIS FOR OUR NEXT SHOW!!! Hadestown Thanks

Convenient...and not much else.

Here’s the deal - you’re paying $25pp for convenience. Decided to try the Keller Cafe for the first time tonight before seeing Hamilton. If it’s raining outside and you don’t wanna trek all over downtown trying to find a parking spot AND place to eat, then this is a good option. Buffet style setup on the first floor of the auditorium. Corn chowder and mixed greens salad were delicious. Dinner rolls - blah. Salmon and flank steak - forgettable. Lasagna rolls - mediocre. Chocolate stout cake - amazing. You’re paying for convenience over quality, as this is basically the same type of food that you would get at a catered wedding. My opinion? Grab an umbrella and check out one of the steakhouses nearby.

Over priced garbage not fit to be served in Portland

By Chris P |

Took my daughter to see Charlie & the Chocolate Factory last night & thought we would try the Keller Cafe. Big mistake. Here is the run down of what was being served. Caesar salad, it was OK. Tomato Bisque soup, not great but it was hot. The fruit platter was fine. Now the fun starts. Green beans with fingerling carrots. The cold green beans were shriveled and ugly to look at and the carrots were very crunchy. Next was a Polenta dish. Tasty but cold. I believe it was a couscous thing. Cold & boring. Baked chicken breast in a juice of some sort. Dry, tough & cold. Flank steak. Very well done, tough & cold. Last was the chocolate cake. That was good. This is Portland, land of good food. Why they would serve this is beyond me. For $25 each we could have gone to a lot of restaurants in the area and been able to actually eat the food. The show was awesome!! Wish the food had been edible.

Very disappointing and won't be back

By Steve K |

We had reservations for 5 pm, prior to the last showing of Wicked. 5 pm is the earliest you can get at the Keller Cafe, so you would expect the food to be fresh. It wasn't. The vegetables were cold. The risotto patties were cold and dried out. The chicken was so dried out, leather was easier to cut. For $25 a person, you would expect the food to be at least warm. Very disappointing. I don't know who the Keller got to cater this disaster, but they should fire them. I wouldn't go back to the cafe, even if someone else was paying for it.
