Nice Brunch

By vaughanm1976 |

We went here for an extended family brunch. Food was good but menu a bit on the gluten free and vegan side. Service was great.

Last meal before heading back to Dallas

By Judd Kennedy |

We tried the Kerby breakfast combo. It was very very good. Highly recommended for a good meal. We heard it gets real busy on weekends.

Seasonal item was a bust

By LasloNimne |

So it’s an iconic Austin institution, eh? Longevity is always impressive and an Austin friend invited me to lunch here. Dallas, our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The Porter on the rotating beer menu was excellent. I tried one of their “seasonal” menu items that sounded good - a pear and bacon panini. There was so much butter on the thick-sliced bread I couldn’t taste either the pear OR the bacon. What a waste!! The sweet potato fries were quite good. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt with my ranking since I hope/assume not every menu item is a poorly executed.

Great food choices

By JHTHCH |

Tons of variety, breakfast or lunch. You wont be disappointed. Ave entre cost $12. Server was nice and prompt, not overthetop.

Traditional Kerbey Lane

By DHER1 |

We ate at "the original” Kerbey Lane on Kerbey Lane in Austin just off of N. Lamar and 38th. Eclectic surroundings, but a long wait for breakfast type menu items. I had a turkey club that came served with a bleu cheese aioli spread, which was an odd combination that I didn't care much for. Just my tastes... The sandwich was good enough without the spread; the rest of the family had breakfast plates, mostly pancakes which were very good (Apple and Chocolate Chip were great). Would recommend trying it, but be patient - the wait is long.

Will not go back

By Jack F |

Small place, banged my knee from the sidewalk to get in. Reception staff was fine. Our waiter was super nice and clearly trying hard but he looked like Joe Dirt. He got the order wrong, the food was awful, and it was pricey for what we got. The sausage was microscopic! DO NOT order the apple what pancakes - super dry and crumbled on the plate. Terrible experience.

Queso

By Gena B |

literally everything is delicious and is made better with queso. The vegan chocolate cake is sooo good.

Not a great place

By Juan F |

Took an uber, got there 40 minutes before closing , not so smart greeter said, we are not serving anymore.... people after us got seated..... beyond belief; first and last time I'll go to this not so great establishment!!!

Great Brunch Sunday

By Dan D |

Whole family enjoyed eating here. Most everyone had breakfast and everyone said that what they had was good. The teenagers enjoyed there food (breakfast) and of course they ate all there food and sampler other's dishes too. We will be coming back when we are back in Austin.

Pretty good

By Nancy L |

This one was ok. I had the Kerry combo. The bacon and sausage were pretty good. The scrambled eggs were good but weird texture. The pancakes with cinnamon swirl pretty good. Good coffee. Good service.

Lemon Poppy Seed Blueberry Pancakes

By Suzanne M |

Always great food and great service. I came in for breakfast and to get some work done and Forrest was wonderfully attentive. He suggested the lemon poppy seed pancakes with blueberries -- my new favorite! Tucked away in a beautiful little neighborhood, Kirby Lane is an oasis:)

Breakfast served all day.

By Jim C |

Three of us stopped by yesterday, January 21, 2017 and ate breakfast. I had the Kerby lane breakfast combo with blueberry pancakes. Everything was felicious. Wife had an egg Benedict style plate and our son had pumpkin french toast. Both of these plates are off the fall menu. All was delicious. Well worth the visit. Parking is a problem, but food is worth the trouble.

Many tasty options at reasonable prices

By SandyM33 |

Four of us visiting from Montana came here for breakfast. It was so amazing that when it was time to choose a spot for dinner we opted to come back here rather than risk possible disappointment somewhere else. We all like to try different places, but we could not imagine there would be something in Austin that we would like better than this. Everyone raved about their choices from both meals. The watermelon gazpacho was one of the best things I have ever tasted. The melding of flavors was incredible. If I lived in Austin, I would be here every day until I had tried everything on the menu.

Delicious Lamb Burger

By Steve D |

The Greek Lamb Burger here is simply great. I ordered that with sweet potato fries and mint hibiscus tea. They have changed the lamb burger up a little bit. Now, instead of on a bun it comes on pita bread. I liked it better when it was on a bun. After all, it is a burger, not a gyro. It is delicious but the change to pita bread changes the whole dynamic. The sweet potato fries were delicious and cooked perfectly. The mint hibiscus tea was very tasty. The service at this location is pretty slow but friendly. Several minutes before I was greet by my server and about 20 minutes to get my food after ordered. Seating is a bit limited as this used to be a house that's been converted into a restaurant. Parking is terrible. The prices are average.

Amazing gluten-free options.

By Lillian B |

Their food is absolutely amazing. I had their gluten-free pancakes which are big but they have great texture, flavor and don't fall apart when you stab them with your fork. Their Chai latte is good.

Excellent choice for breakfast

By NeuTeam |

Stopped for breakfast. Seated immediately. Had lemon French toast, migas, and cinnamon beignet pancakes. All very good. Parking was a challenge. Friendly service. Would certainly return if ever in the area again.

Order from the seasonal menu!

By Bryan G |

I had eggs, bacon, sausage, and blueberry pancakes. It was all very good. The Mrs. had migas and lemon poppyseed French toast, which is a seasonal item. The French toast was out of this world. I should have duplicated her order. Try it. You won't be disappointed!

Fantastic food at this kwerky venue

By Kristiana P |

Really impressed with this venue and their community spirit ethos. The menu is really varied with breakfasts being served all day. We had the Greek lamb burger and the brisket with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce over an English muffin. Great flavours and good portion sizes. Would recommend.

Brunch; really good food!

By Nancy J |

We went to the busy lil place for brunch & I definitely recommend it. Service was good & the food was excellent! I highly recommend the Smoke Salmon Benedict & cinnamon pancake! It’s a small establishment & you will likely have to wait in line because it’s very busy but I think it’s worth it!

Kerbey Lane is a staple in Austin and I always love coming here

By gringatx |

My husband and I brought our niece to eat here. she is in college . we had a good wait person . the food is really good here .I've been coming here for years whenever I visit Austin, and you can always count on creative food and good taste . my husband got the breakfast plate and really enjoyed it ... said it was much better than just any regular pancake or egg place. I got the Greek chicken, and it was very flavorful . the only thing I didn't like was the hummus had cumin, I believe, and my niece got a panini sandwich and fries and really enjoyed that as well. You can't go wrong coming to Kerby Lane.

One of my favorite iconic Austin restaurants!

By Texasgirl0915 |

I love this place - it makes me happy! It is the original location and has been in business since 1980. It is located in a old house that has been expanded with several rooms. The only issue is parking. You must find street parking and at busy times it might mean a walk of a block or two or more. You can call ahead to be added to the wait list - which is what I highly recommend since the wait can be long during popular meal times. The food is so good - especially the gingerbread pancakes. There are all sorts of breakfast items served all day long plus soups, sandwiches, Tex-Mex, ... You can always find something delicious.

Don't waste your time

By Jacque D |

We had to wait 45 minutes to get in to eat breakfast. The service was awful and the food was not worth waiting 45 minutes to get in or the poor service. Surely, there are better places in Austin to have breakfast. Next time I'm in town I will try to find out.

Pleasant Ambiance for Breakfast

By jcisler |

Saturday morning breakfast featured Pumpkin french toast which arrived piping hot and very tasty. Home fries are what others in the country call breakfast potatoes (cubes). Server was friendly and welcoming. Nice place for breakfast - would return. There was also no wait when we dined.

Breakfast before return drive to San Antonio

By JudyHawaii |

Spent the night in Austin after Tom Petty concert and wanted a good breakfast before our drive back to San Antonio. Any Kerbey Lane Cafe is great, but thought we would try the original. In an artsy part of town with little street parking, but the appealing colors and sign will draw you in. Quaint and homey inside, the staff is welcoming and attentive. Coffee, food was fantastic! A must for breakfast in Austin!!!

LAST SUNDAY EARLY DINNER

By Joe J |

Relaxing spot with great food, Also Dog-friendly which is important for us. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the people that we met.

Good Food but horrible service!

By DayTrip36072538422 |

I was there a week ago and waited to be serviced for 15 minutes. Servers walked past my table several times and nobody even offered a glass of water. So I left and headed to Magnolia where service is always consistently good! I tried Kirby again this morning and again waited several minutes. I eventually had to ask the host if he could locate someone to wait on me!

Breakfast at 10 not good idea.

By reeves65 |

Breakfast good, very little parking if you get there late. We waited 1 1/2 hours to be seated. Fun experience; some food is different; example the healthy omelet had white gravy on top.

Delicious first taste of Texas

By AmandaNJoe |

After a long day of airport travel, this quaint food Mecca was a welcome reprieve. Not only were my kids floored over the fact that they serve BLUEBERRY ROOT BEER, but I was impressed by all of the drink choices at a place I assumed was best known for breakfast. We all devoured our palate- mesmerizing meals. Our server was so very helpful in helping us choose and being so very attentive. I highly recommend you stop by here!

Consistently awesome

By Beth C |

There is something about Kerbey Lane that is so comforting, consistent, Austin, and awesome. Go see for yourself. You won't be disappointed and try it for lunch or dinner on a weekday and it won't be nearly as crowded.

Love the food and the service

By Jack W |

We have always loved the varied menu here, plus the great breakfast choices that are available all day long. Tasty food and attentive service, with reasonable prices. Parking is pretty limited, so you might have to get creative.

Best breakfast/brunch in the area

By kai hong y |

I come back to Kerbey Lane everytime I'm in the area. Fantastic food for great price with friendly staff. Its extremely busy for breakfast so be sure to show up early but its well worth it. Everything looks delicious on the menu!

Sunday brunch

By Adam G |

We had Sunday brunch at the Kerbey Lane Café. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but that was expected. I had the Colorado omelet, home fries and fruit. My wife had the cinnamon apple pancakes with bacon and we had a carafe of Mimosas ($12 for the carafe was worth it). Our food was delicious and I would probably rate Kerbey Lane a 5 for the food but the poor service was a bummer.

These folks KNOW BREAKFAST!

By Charlie B |

A cousin met me at Kerbey Ln. (& W 35th St.) for breakfast. I had the Kerbey scramble (scrambled eggs, homefries, mushroom, tomato, green onion, cheddarjack cheese, homefries & fruit, $8.95) and one blueberry pancake and she had an omelette. Both were wonderful. Rose took good care of us there and gave us a VERY NICE military discount at the end. I look forward to returning and soon!

Liked it so much, we had it twice in one day

By Kathi W |

it is a small restaurant very close to downtown. The breakfast is amazing. Their chorizo and eggs are the best I have had.

Nice Prices and Vegan Chocolate Cake

By getupradio |

24 hour diner known as a lil gem in Austin, TX. Has a small menu of items for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Has a cocktail/ wine menu also. Offer small selection for vegan foodies. I highly suggest veggie chili and vegan chocolate cake. Limited parking available. Nice for friends, families, groups or eating solo. Definitely on my list of choices to enjoy food in a quiet atmosphere. ENJOY!

Yum

By Marisa M |

Great food! Many vegetarian options, friendly service, priced right! Parking not great, but eventually you’ll find a spot.

Reasonable prices for mediocre food

By Michelle S |

The prices were reasonable. Portion sizes were large, but the food was very mediocre. Worst pancakes and french toast we ever had and its hard not to be able to make a good pancake or french toast! The place itself is dated and has no ambiance. The wait was 2 hours. We added ourselves to the list in advance and by the time we got there we were seated, but I would never wait to eat here! I assume there is a wait because the lack of many good breakfast spots. Service was terrible as well. Very disappointing

Kerbey Lane...Flavor Lane!!

By Roberto M |

For years a local secret gem,has already expanded in Austin simply because its great!! Best brunch you can imagine, have to try its unique Pancake Swirl, with its great Cinamon Glaze!! Great coffeee, specially the Cappuciono ,served in a HUGE cup, wonderful mimosas, delicious Queso, that you can even find in Whole Foods...great place to be a regular visitor! Looking forward to their possible expansion into Houston!

Good pancakes

By ginanenenc |

We enjoyed brunch here. Double chocolate cherry and buttermilk pancakes. My sister loved their breakfast tacos.

One of my favorite brunch in Austin!

By Ludodi |

You can find organic and local food, eggs cooked as you prefer (the benedicts are simply delicious!) baked or fried potatoes, different bread selections and toppings. The sweet potatoes fries are the best I have ever tried! Great place for families, friends, couples and alone! One of my favorite brunch in Austin!

Sigh

By mdrumak |

Food was absolutely terrible and could be identified as to how long each component of the meal was microwaved poorly. I felt bad for the waiter.

Hidden breakfast gem

By nativetexan68 |

Visiting from out of town and looking for a good breakfast place - don’t miss this hidden gem! Have never seen such a creative breakfast menu - hard to choose. My husband had the strawberry banana French toast with bacon (amazing) and I ordered the Eggs Francisco- I have never seen anything like this and had to try- was amazing! Comes with 2 sides - portions are generous- coffee is great and service is wonderful! Stop by this cute and quirky place and you will leave full and not be disappointed!

Repeat.

By alyssatucker814 |

It's rare that I'm impressed by a diner. I usually expect diner food, and usually that's what I get. However we were introduced to Kerbey Lane by a local shop owner. I told her I needed vegan options while my counterpart needed meat. It's a hard fit usually. She immediately suggested this place and off we went. I sat down and wasn't sure what to expect. Our waiter wasn't overly cheerful, slightly somber but I kind of expect that in Austin. He was nice, and in general accommodating. As we read the menu, both of us couldn't decide what we wanted. I settled on the vegan queso, and fried avocado tacos. He chose the fried chicken Benedict. Both of us were impressed with the vegan queso, and although it didn't taste like straight cheese (nor did we expect it to) it was delicious. My tacos were EXCELLENT. Every aspect of the dish was fresh and flavour-packed. His was as well. My gingerbread latte was great and his hand-crafted rootbeer was just the way a true soda should be. I'll return in a heartbeat.

Everything Great!

By _sliderockstudios |

I have now visited two locations in Austin. My favorite is without a doubt the original store located on Kerbey Lane/35th. Such an awesome menu and the Kerbey Queso is to die for. In the center of this bowl surrounded by the sinful Queso is a scoop of guacamole. Incredible..... After tasting, and eating four different selections I will say that this is a must. I know there are several other locations in Austin. Also tried the S. LAMAR LOCATION. Great as well but the Kerbey Lane location is the best. Pumpkin pancakes are a must. For me Kerbey Lane is in the top 1%. Soooooo delicious.

Rehearsal "Dinner" at a Breakfast Place

By 67brickie |

It was the to-be-wed couple's favorite place and the spot they selected to treat wedding party participants. And the choices provide ample opportunity for a wide variety of tastes and fare - from traditional breakfast items to steaks and potatoes, and a lot of other things in between. Also quite a few eclectic combinations that pair seemingly opposite textures and tastes for the chance at a real culinary experience. Couple the food items with light alcoholic beverages (mimosas of all types) and good coffees, teas and soft drinks and it's a pleasurable spot to indulge the palate and relax in a "different" sort of place - Austin personified.....

Mediocre food and unattentive staff

By Jetset_Beaudets |

Came here for a late breakfast after reading some pretty complimentary reviews. Ordered our food and I ordered a mimosa. After a long while I did not receive my mimosa so I reminded the waiter when he was done helping the table next to us. He stated he forgot and returned with my drink pretty quickly. Ok, no big deal. The food arrives and I ask for some butter to spread on my biscuit (why wouldn't they automatically give that to you anyways, who eats a bare biscuit?!)... Never received the butter. In fact, no one even stopped at our table until we were finished eating so I couldn't even remind them. When the server dropped off the check, my husband asked for a napkin to wipe his hands. He never received it. Food was mediocre. Nothing special for the price. Service was awful. Wouldn't not return or recommend.

Reliable breakfast

By mr_larry_smith |

All locations have same menu and the you can predict good food. I am a regular at a different location. This location had what I wanted and outstanding service.

Great breakfast!

By The Lurker |

Good food, great service, pleasant settings, one of the top breakfast spots on the north side of Austin.

You just can't go wrong at Kerbey Lane Cafe

By Zippy P |

Always a good meal here, whether breakfast or lunch. I haven't been to dinner here, but I know someone who goes often enough that I think it's probably a testament to a good meal as well.

A Very Good Cafe that Needs Some TLC!

By John H |

This restaurant is the original site of the Kerbey Lane franchise, & is essentially an older home that has been enlarged with add-owns. The actual enlarged site is really rather quaint & cozy. I believe that this original site was closed for awhile during renovations. However, it is a sad note to see such an iconic attraction that is in need of some serious improvements to the setting & the food. For examples, the air conditioning vents are too small for the space, are not evenly distributed throughput the building, & are noticeably in need of cleaning. This results in hot & cool spots throughout the cafe, with the back part of the building essentially unventilated while the front entrance is quiet cool. The swinging door to the kitchen operates on a latch-spring device that is in need of repair so that the door completely closes after entrance & exit of staff. As it is now, it leaves about a 3 inch gap between door & jam, making for an unattractive view of the kitchen for visitors seated in the back section of the house. The door also needs a paint job! As for the food, we found it rather mediocre with cold, day-old potatoes, & sausage that was far too salty. The eggs Benedict menu item was very good, prepared spot-on. Coffee was good, but cream served in plastic cup containers rather than a small metal or ceramic jug. The shelf-stable aseptic type of containers are very frustrating for coffee addicts. Having researched this site after breakfast, we discovered that the Kerbey site on Lamar Street was considered a better setting with more consistently good food. Here's hoping that management will continue to restore the original site so that it's iconic status can be retrieved.

Always our go to food when in Austin. Queso is great and migas are awesome. If you're in for breakfast have a mimosa and enjoy!

Great choice of food

By John R |

A great choice of food with helpful staff. You can virtually design you own menu from the choices they have. An affordable price will suite students and families.

Original location in Central Austin

By 5016DAH |

Nostalgic location in Central Austin. Small house quirky atmosphere. No reservations. It gets very busy on weekends. Only street parking so you might have to park a block away. Great large menu of breakfast, brunch and lunch. Eggs Francisco is the best - english muffin, with eggs, bacon, avocado and tomato with a queso sauce. YUMMY! Other Austin locations, but this one is the original.

Best place for all meals

By Ava K |

I've been several times while on vacation to ATX and dream of this place. The Queso and chips are a must! I've never had anything bad here, everything is fresh and delicious and now I want to go just writing this!

The Original

By roundthaworld |

It was a bit of a let down after reading the excellent reviews. The coffee was cold. The pita with the Greek Chicken was excellent but the Chicken was just ok. The hummus lacked flavor. In Austin there are so many wonderful places to try I would probably skip this in the future. My friends got breakfast which seemed better but still not worth a second visit. Parking is difficult in the area.

Kerbey Lane Review

By Ahmad Hatab |

Classic Austin breakfast casual dining spot. Newest location in Mueller under the new Texas Mutual building. Brunch review. Drinks: Frosè: Run of the mill frosè. Can’t complain, it’s as standard as it gets - 6.7/10 Entrées: Chicken and Pancakes: I’ve had it both with the cinnamon beignet pancakes and the banana walnut pancakes. Unless you like bananas go with the first option. The chicken is cooked really well. Very crisp and tender. Solid texture on the pancakes. - 7.5/10 Overall: 7.1/10 Follow me on Instagram @ahmadeats for all the food and attractions

Perfect Breakfast

By Calvin T |

Kerbey Lane never disappoints. I always have the pancakes, eggs, chicken sausage, and down it with a kafaff of mimosa. The wait staff is always cheerful, friendly and helpful. There seems to always have a wait, but it's worth it.

Cute and quaint

By marialoera |

I’m from Houston and this was such a cute place to have lunch in! It’s hidden and very chill. You have to try their queso.

Average Breakfast

By Robert L |

I am not sure why people wait an hour to eat here. This is just another breakfast/lunch place. My sausage

Creative Menu

By Judith D |

Really creative menu. Food was all delicious. Eggs benedict with fried green tomato, french toast, omelet with green chili, fried chicken breast eggs benedict. There was four of us! Great coffee all around, and black beans and avocado on the side. Food was delicious and service was great. Wait was 30 minutes. Bacon on the eggs benedict was limp and queso was too mild. Other than that - a yummy breakfast. We will be back. Charming neighborhood too.

Great Brunch

By QDOGG8 |

This is a nice, local spot for a great brunch! The menu selections are very unique and also delicious. They also have a nice selection of healthy options to choose from. We didn’t go with that but I’m sure they are delicious as well!

Go to breakfast spot in Austin

By ngalindo1421 |

I've been living in Austin for about 2 years now and this is the restaurant I bring all of my friends and family to when they visit. I would recommend the Paris Texas Platter. It comes with a large plate of french toast and a large plate of migas. Ask for the sour cream sauce! Expect to wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour for a table. I always go before 10 am. After that time the brunch crowd comes and its a long wait. Kerbey always has a seasonal menu that offers a twist to their classic plates. During the spring they offer the Eggs Francisco with fried green tomatoes.. Delicious! It's worth a taste if you are feeling adventurous!

Amazing vegan breakfast!

By Caitlyn H |

This place catered to all types of dietary needs and it was all amazing. Loved the fun colors and commissioned art on the walls. Will definitely be back!

Amazing breakfast!

By Mayasmommy05 |

Me and my girls had breakfast and everything was amazing!!!! The server was so great and friendly as well. Parking was 🤷🏻‍♀️ but worth it!

Totally Filling!!

By Luz Z |

Totally filling! Quite an eclectic place, but love, love it!! Everything is made from scratch. They are known for their Queso, pancakes, & homemade biscuits. Quite popular, gets busy so get here early on the week-end.

Good, fresh food; great customer service attitude

By TexasTraveler78701 |

We love this place. Fresh food, a great staff, and I can get breakfast for dinner. Even good restaurants make mistakes, and that is when I was really impressed. The manager went out of his way to make it right and made it clear that it was important to him to take care of his customers. More restaurants could use Kerbey's customer-friendly attitude.

Love Kerbey Lane!

By Kaye H |

My current favorite food here - gingerbread pancakes. The only migas I have ever eaten were at Kerby Lane years ago. I don't usually like eggs, but enjoyed the dish! A trip to Austin isn't complete without a visit to Kerby Lane. The people who work there have always been great!

Breakfast 24 hours a day!

By jswhite |

I've eaten at most of this local chain's spots & the food is always good. Breakfast is my favorite meal but everything I have ever had here is good. The coffee is excellent.

Lunch visit

By Robert F |

Mahi fish tacos on whole wheat were good sized pieces of mahi, good eats. Lamb burger and tazeki sauce was also very good. Chef salad was also a very large portion. Great variety on the menu. Pork Belly dishes were also good. Service was a bit slow for size of crowd, Monday lunch.

Good not amazing

By Simply Chic M |

Nice small restaurant, friendly servers and good menu options. People native to Austin will try to convince you that this is the best breakfast place on earth. It isn't. I tried their gingerbread pancakes that everyone raves about and they are so heavy and dry and hard to eat. What I do like here is the Crispy Chicken Benedict which is so delicious! This particular location is super tricky to get parking. The round rock location has lots of parking and more seating.

Beware :More yummy than IHOP but push to get table or u will wait 45 min major disorganized front staff with seating and, dirty

By AUSAGUY007 |

Disappointed in waiting see picture the reciept on this table was left and printed at 930 am and its now 1028 and they still did not clean the table been waiting alm 45 min for a table... They need to turn around the tables faster.so they are cleaning the table every 15 to 20 min So disappointed in the management of this location This place is good but the wait is long The biggest pancakes on earth but don't d Forget to get extra home frys Average ticket 15.00 a person

The Best All-Night Restaurant in Texas

By chemtex |

Where to go after a play or a concert. Kerby Lane. Where to decompress after election night. Kerby Lane. There's great breakfasts all day long. Lunch and dinner are made fresh from Texas ingredients. Friendly, Tasty. Always Open.

Glad I went

By Ron L |

Ate there today on advice from a friend while passing thru Austin. Friendly staff, nice mgr and the food was quickly served and delicious. A little pricey but that's Austin. Not the same town it used to be. Very nice staff made up for the stuffy new breed of unfriendly people I encountered everywhere else in Austin. Sit at counter and see all the great looking entrees leave the kitchen. Service was very fast. Will definitely go back. Restaurant was also noticibly clean.

First time there.

By Shelly S |

Was looking for a place to have a late dinner with friends and went on the advice of the local in our group and were not disappointed. The BEST thing was the Kerbey Queso - OMG! even the chips were amazing!!!! Try the Maine Root Sodas - bubbly deliciousness!

Nothing special at this location

By Jim H |

I have eaten at two other locations and had much better food and service. Not sure what the problem is that makes the difference.

OMG yum!!

By Jennifer E |

Great service and amazing food. Good recommendations by server too. I hope to be back next time in Austin! Whole menu sounded good.

Disappointed in Kerby Lane Cafe

By Denise U |

Front desk had a sign to go to bar to be seated..3 employees kept walking by us. Restaurant not busy at 6 pm. After 5 minutes I asked a girl behind the bar to seat us in a booth. No drink menu and they have alcohol! Waited over 10 minutes until I returned to bar asking for service! We both liked the meatloaf; but mashed potatoes were cold. My broccolli had something very gritty in 1 forkful. Our waiter was nice; but all of them very young and not tending to jobs. Decor was very plain and an unappealing color. Not a place for dinner..not an inviting cafe

So-so

By Teaxasborn5 |

We went there on college visit. The queso and chips were very good as were the turkey club sandwiches but the onion rings were not - cold and the batter was gummy not crispy. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. Would return for the queso

Best breakfast in Austin

By iamqueenme |

This place plain & simple has the best breakfast in Austin, every thing is good, service is great, it's just the best.

Excellent Breakfast; Friendly Service; Okay Coffee

By CharlieinTexas |

Ate breakfast earlier this week with two of my children. Arrived at 6:30 AM. Very friendly server. Excellent corned beef hash with two sunny side up eggs, and excellent rye toast. Perhaps the best corned beef hash I have ever eaten. Coffee was better than in the past, but just OK; a bit too weak for me. On some prior visits, the place had a bit of a greasy spoon feel and smell, but this time was very fresh and clean. Nice. Only negative, and it is in the potentially big one category if headed to work after eating -- took about a half hour for our food to arrive, without explanation for the delay, and the place wasn't very crowded. In the past, I have never leash back nor pick this place for breakfast on my own. This experience was good enough to return sooner than later.

Lunch @ Kerbey

By Jim T |

We made a return visit here after a while, and it was as good as it's even been. Parking can be an issue, especially if one is not lucky enough to snag a street spot. The food is good and they serve breakfast all hours. Located in a reconverted old house, making the entire dining experience funky. Full bar. There are also a few other locations in town.

Good, just not sure what all the fuss is about

By gr8travel_10 |

Tried a different Kerbey Lane location this time but had a similar experience. Great service, hit-and-miss food. The queso is delicious and shouldn't be missed. I tried the lamb burger and found the spices...interesting. I was expecting more of a tzatziki sauce which would have been refreshing but it was something richer and heavily spiced that didn't really compliment the lamb. Sweet potato fries were good.

Excellent and sooo friendly - large variety

By Carpenic |

Went there with my husband on a sunday. First things first: It is crowded, very crowded. So either bring loads of time and patience or check in via App before you go. We had to wait 45 Minutes to get a table. (The place doesn't take reservations) But it did not bother me at all, which is very unusual. - the reaason? These people are very, very friendly. Although the place was packed, each and everyone from the stuff was friendly and helpful. The menue is large and the things we tried were yummy. Especially if you are a group of people and you cannot decide on what to have for breakfast, go there and everyone will find his or her favorite breakfast.

Doesn't live up to the 5-star hype.

By Sarah R |

While it was far from inedible, the breakfast was far from the fabulous reviews we read before going. Migas were okay. Side of bacon was cold, but I'm starting to believe that HOT food isn't a common thing in Austin. Waitstaff did take it back & heat it up at my request, so that was appreciated. Daughter got one of the beloved pancakes & it was average. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

Hair in Food! Disgusting

By dgrubbs2036 |

I’m extremely disappointed in the customer service we received today when after nearly finishing our meals I discovered a long black hair (no one in my party had black hair) in my jalapeño dish. When I pointed it out to our waiter he awkwardly laughed and took it to the manager and the manager didn’t immediately come to see us. Instead he walked around to each table asking how everything was and leaving ours last. When he finally did visit us, we told him our problem and then he pointed to his head smirkingly to show us that he had black hair, and that somehow made the situation okay. We didn’t receive any discount. We didn’t receive any real apology. Like I said, im extremely disappointed. I would advise not to eat here.

Accidentally found our favorite breakfast place

By Samantha B |

On our recent trip to Austin, my fiance woke up at 6am with a craving for, of all things, chocolate chip pancakes. As we are not from the Austin area, he turned to good ole faithful google to find out who had the best pancakes in town, and he finally landed on this place. I'm glad he had that craving, because this turned out to be an exceptional, quirky, cute, charming, little cafe. The menu has decent variety, with plenty options for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free - though I still don't understand "vegan scrambled eggs"! I tried the baked potato omelette and was pleasantly surprised. Portion sizes are very generous and the food isn't too "froo froo" for those of us who like a simpler way of life. The atmosphere is very quaint - it's a house-style building with a comfortable, dog friendly, patio. The biggest downfall is the parking. It's located on what, I assume, used to be a residential street, so none of the businesses on this street really have any parking. If you're lucky you might find something on the side of the street, but most likely, you'll have to park a ways. Fiance got his chocolate chip pancakes - I'm not a fan of pancakes in general, but I did try a bite of them, and they seemed pretty decent, good consistency, and the flavor was pleasant, even for someone who doesn't really care for that kind of thing. The service here was great as well. We had a very nice young man who was more than willing to help us, and gave us some great tips for what to do while in the city. He never seemed annoyed with any of our requests, always had a smile and was very eager to please. Overall, we will definitely visit this place on our future visits to Austin!

Great breakfast

By Marie W |

This restaurant was great. They had a big selection of really good food. The hollandaise was decent. The Lemon poppy pancakes were phenomenal. The pancakes alone were good. But with the lemon glaze and real maple syrup put it over the top.

Good food but stinky at entrance

By Gloria L |

For an ACL and UT football game weekend, the line was long and we had a group of 5. It seems that the best thing to do is call in and get on on the waiting list. We did not do that so people who called in and showed up kept bumping us down the line. A distinct smell of urine hit me when I entered and this has happened to me before. Not pleasant. We were finally seated away from the entrance so the smell was not evident where we were seated. The breakfast was good.

Everything was good!

By HumJer |

We ordered three different items and I was pleasantly surprised at how consistently good the food was! The poppy seed pancake is pretty much a dessert. The menu doesn’t do the Francisco justice: it tastes/looks way better than the description would suggest. My only complaint is the coffee. It’s pretty standard diner taste. Specialty coffee drinks are good though.

Great for veggies

By aubspl |

One of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Tons of vegetarian options and unique dishes to choose from.

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Do not pass up a chance to eat at the original location!

By Carolyn W |

Always loved this place and was delighted to have the chance to eat here again on a family trip. Menu offers great variety, I never pass up the chance to eat the pancakes, offered all day! Austin is full of good eats and Kerbey Lane is one of the best! Treat yourself, you won't regret it!

Breakfast for Dinner

By John M |

This is a cool, unique cafe in an old house made into a restaurant . You can eat breakfast food anytime but they have burgers, salads, etc. too. The food is also done with a twist. Prices are also right.

One is my favorite eateries in Austin

By Algie M |

I had the poblano relleno and it was wonderful, very tasty and not too spicy. The just was very friendly and have good advice when we asked for help. The scenery outside the restaurant was very pleasant, but we had to fight off lots of flies. I can't wait to come back.

Great comfort food, great service.

By jgf3 |

Kerby Lane Cafe has such an Austin vibe and atmosphere that is endearing. This was my first visit upon a recommendation. Parking was a little bit of a challenge but once I inside - everything was very pleasant. I was greeted well and the service was great. I ordered the Texas Eggs Benedict with a Blueberry Pancake on the side. Very tasty and filling. The biscuits are incredible! And the pancakes were very good as well. The coffee was just ok - typical run of the mill coffee. Wished the coffee had a bit more of a punch to it. Definitely will come back next time in town!

The original Kerbey Lane in Austin, worth the visit

By Bill B |

We decided that since we had a lot of time to kill, we would try the original Kerbey Lane, and it was worth the wait. It was a drizzly Saturday morning when we went, and there was a wait of about 35 minutes, but the time went fast since we visited the shops nearby, and then texted us when our table was ready. Nice touch! The portions were plenty, and the food delicious. I would go to any of their locations, if the food is this good at everyone of them. Spent a bit over $30, but the food was very good.

What a wonderful evening we

By janet g |

What a wonderful evening we just had. Thank you to Chris and Luis. We sat outside. They gave us amazing service. In the midst of Covid, we traveled to Austin to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We ate here one evening and it did not disappoint. The drinks are refreshing (blueberry Collins and margaritas) and the food was great (chicken and beignet pancakes and meatloaf and queso). Again, Chris (he waved goodbye to us too as we were driving away (he was bringing food out to vehicles for to-go orders) and Luis made a delightful evening w great food and drinks. This place has established safety measures in place so you’ll feel comfortable too.

Reasonable food for a reasonable price

By sablatt |

I had dinner with a group of six, and we received quick and cheerful service. My southwest salad with chicken was pretty much what anyone else has and for about the same price, $11. We had one person who got a vegetarian mac & cheese, which she found bland. The Angus burgers were well received, but not much different from anywhere else. And, finally, the person who got the meat loaf was quite satisfied, and that isn't a dish you find everywhere.

Great place for Sunday brunch

By Glynda D |

My grandson took us to Kerbey Lane Cafe when we were visiting him last weekend. What a treat! The menu items are not your usual fare; they are very unique combinations. I had eggs Benedict with fried green tomatoes and bacon on an English muffin (not sure exactly what it was called). For my side, I had roasted brussel sprouts. For an appetizer, we shared queso and chips. I will definitely return to Kerbey's on my next trip to Austin.

Great breakfast

By maggiet0813 |

Went with daughter and granddaughters for breakfast on a Sunday. Super busy but we only had to wait about 30 minutes. They have an app where you can tell how many ate in front of you. They have indoor and outdoor seating. In cold weather they close the patio and have heating. Different breakfast choices. I had a gingerbread pancake. Only one and it was as big as the dinner plate. Very good. They also have specials for the fall - pumpkin this and pumpkin that. Prices are affordable.

Had to put my fork down too many times...

By NikeofNargothrond |

Trying to make it all fit! I keep trying to get photos of the food here but I can never keep myself from digging in soon as the food arrives. I wanted to try several of the items on the menu before reviewing. Greek lamb Burger was a bit of a surprise when it arrived. It is more like a burger put into a PITA bread wrap. The appearance was unexpected but the flavors were amazing. Jalapeno Blue Cheese Burger was straight forward and on point for flavors. The bread could use a bit of an artisan type to take it up a notch. The pancakes, don't care what kind, are top of the shelf. Can't go wrong with any choice. The best I've had anywhere. Omelettes are also a winner here. I don't recall seeing any menu item over $13. So you won't break the bank here either.

Best Pancakes in Town

By OKwight |

Yummy, yummy and more yummy. The pancakes are huge AND delicious. Seasonal favorites are gingerbread, poppyseed and more. My faves are the buttermilk. The menu is served ALL DAY, so if you want breakfast at 11pm, you got it. Love this place. And, the prices are FANTASTIC!!!

Best Breakfast in Austin

By Peggy V |

Wonderful breakfast/lunch choices and lots of options. One of us had the Migas, One of use had Kerby Lane Breakfast, one had Eggs Benedict & one had French toast... Everyone was very happy with their meals. Coffee was good too and all was reasonable.

Kerbey Lane Cafe, go there!

By pobradley |

Kerbey Lane Cafe For any meal is fantastic, staff is great, food is killer. A must restaurant while in Austin

Amazing people make for amazing breakfast!

By Matta15 |

Always a classic Austin breakfast spot. But Tessa and Sydney were the true Austin classics! Thanks KL!

I dream of their Kerby Queso

By Kayla D |

Not only is there many locations, they're open 24 hours, but they have so many options (gluten-free and vegetarian) but they also have seasonal menus. So you can go every day of your life and never eat the same thing twice...except for the queso!

No consistency

By Orion G |

This place is so very hit or miss... one time I eat here and it's like "Halleluja! They got the mojo back!" and the next time I eat here I question why I still take chances. Today marks what is probably my last visit, not because it was awful, but rather because I'm leaving Austin. My girl wanted one last meal here before we left... As I said before, it wasn't awful, but it was pretty sad. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy with Eggs. I ordered my eggs over easy. When I got my food, the biscuits were lightly glazed with gravy and my eggs were medium at best. I'd like to tell you the gravy was good, but I couldn't tell, its flavor lost in some very dry biscuit action. The only thing I really approved of was the sausage. Service was great, but an overall disappointment.

Great, interesting comfort food

By Wheelchairtravel99 |

Small restaurant, often a wait but worth it. Full bar. Great chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy. Breakfast 24 hours a day.

Quick and tasty

By RedShoes2019 |

We had breakfast this morning at Kerbey Lane Cafe. I had the special: scrambled eggs, homemade sausage and gingerbread pancakes. So much food and it was worth the calories. Delicious! My DD18 had pancakes. Delicious My DD21 is vegan and had the vegan special. Really good. Hubs had pancakes. Coffee was hot and came quickly. Waitress was friend and filled our water glasses quickly. We had lucky timing and were seated immediately. As we were leaving there were people waiting for tables. We will go again

Amazing food, friendly staff, nice crow.

By Silvia B |

I loved it. Loved it, loved it. The most delicious food. I had a cobb salad. I usually have a cobb salad every where I go and it was the best I ever had ever. The chicken had so much flavor and it was fresh and delicious. I had the most amazing apple pie. My husband had the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. He was not a fan of American food, but this converted him, the collard greens were spectacular. The food was perfection. The staff is very nice. My favorite restaurant now, I will come back Austin (great city) and I will come back Kerbey Lane Cafe. Keep Austin weird (and AMAZING), please :) . LOVE IT.

Excellent!

By Amy C-V |

So fun to experience an Austin Landmark! We had Queso Philly, Greek Lamb Skewers, Pulled Pork Tacos, Migas and Cheesecake. Everything was good!

Excellent Diner & Brunch Food All Day Long

By nc123530 |

Pros - You MUST get the Eggs Francisco - who doesn't love an english muffin, bacon, eggs, and avocado COVERED in queso? Amazing - Fun local Austin vibe with old-school diner feel - Once you DO get seated, they serve you pretty quickly Cons - The wait is incredibly long (1.5-2 hours most times I have gone) - Parking can be tough at this location

This is our go to spot for Saturday breakfast/brunch! There are many locations so here we go: The Original-great service and consistently awesome food. ❤️South Lamar- best location, best blueberry pancakes, and fun servers. 183- great food, good service, but consistently busy. Round Rock- furthest north from me, largest location, great food, good service. So Mopac- furthest south of me, good food, too busy, but consistently good food! They all have the delicious coffee and $2 mimosas! You can't go wrong with any of their spots!

Old Reliable

By mr_larry_smith |

Kerbey Lane is a small local chain that has been in Austin for a very long time. This location is the origional and reflects the vibe of the chain. It has a good menu and very good service. This venue is an old house that fits the vibe. Predictably good.

Good comfort food

By pgaroni |

Old style cafe type place serving breakfast all day long. Nice clean place with very good comfort food. Be sure the try the bacon wrapped meatloaf. It is covered in a roaster red pepper cream sauce, yummy !! Service was good and quick, Ryan did a great job taking care of our needs, always close by and making sure our drinks were filled and that we were happy with our orders.

Kearney Lane is an icon. The venue, menu and funky service has not changed in decades. I enjoy their food. This location takes me back to eat here.

Excellent food, great service.

By Jayson M |

Called for a reservation for 13 and sat comfortably on the patio for a 11am breakfast on a hot Texas Summer Day. Great breakfast and lunch food. Omelets, pancakes, eggs, tacos, and sandwich's were great. Don't miss the Queso, it's delish. Very good service especially for our large party and they do take a reservation.

Best Pancakes in Austin

I have been frequenting this restaurant since I was in undergraduate at UT and Kerbey Lane remains as local and wonderful as ever!

New to Austin

By Dylan S |

If you're new to Austin and you enjoy breakfast Kerbey's is a great place for everyone. Healthy options, gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options if you have a specific diet you're trying to uphold its very easy to find something delicious from them. Highly recommend

We left

By Rutg S |

Had a fairly large group. Told it would be 25 minutes. No one was in the place since it was early. As crowd came in, we said split us up if that was necessary. Nope, other people sat and we waited. When out name was finally called, my wife goes up and the women says "I gave away your table". The food there is okay but not great so it's fine. I'm sure they'll survive without our business and we'll survive without them.

Great food, fun atmosphere.

By Scott B |

We were so glad we had our friend drive us out of downtown to the original Kerbey Cafe. It is off the beaten track on a residential street. Street parking only. But wow was brunch awesome. Eggs, pancakes, drinks were all yummy. Really friendly service in a funky setting. The place is popular, so you may want to join the wait list online to reduce having to wait in person to get seated.

Kearney Lane is Austin Origional.

By mr_larry_smith |

Kearney Lane is Austin Origional. If you spend much time here you must eat here. This is the Origional location in the old house. The venue is cool and menu good. Service can be unpredictable but the food is excellent. I prefer breakfast here all day.

Great breakfast

By LParnell |

Had the sweet potato hash. Very tasty. So many things on the menu sounded good - it was hard to decide. The hash had two sunny side eggs on top too. I will definitely return.

Would pass on this one.

By Ashlie W |

Was told by someone on our tour that we had to eat here. So we went, it was just okay. Personally I think IHOP is better! Wouldn't go back.

Lunch date

By mattinsonjr |

Food was very good. Server was also very good. Came back several times to check on us and make sure food was good. Would recommend restaurant. Would give 4 1/2. Just not a five.

Best 24hr Food There Is

By Zac F |

I grew up in Austin, and the amount of times I have gone for late night, delicious queso is more than I care to admit. Kerbey offers a huge menu that is served 24hrs, so no matter what time it is you can have whatever meal your heart desires. Be sure to check out their daily specials at the bar with mimosas and the seasonal menus are creative and tasty.

Lunch

By Jeanne V |

Very good. Had the meatloaf lunch with mashed potatoes and broccoli. All cooked perfectly and I ate every bit. One had the chicken and pancakes and the pancakes were outstanding. They had a little sweetness to them and no syrup was needed. Very friendly and attentive wait staff.

Resting on their laurels?

By dpaustex |

I have been a customer of this small chain for countless years, starting with their original location on Kerbey Lane, off 38th Street (still the best, IMHO). I have eaten at the 183 location three times, now, as well as the one off S. Lamar. While the food was fine, the service and cleanliness of both locations is sorely lacking (you can sweep the concrete floors, folks). Last time I went, I decided enough was enough. While I appreciate the "hey, dude" mentality of some of the workers, you are running a restaurant, folks. Afraid to see what the kitchen looks like, if the public areas are so dirty. And to be fair, this is always after 8 pm. But cleanliness should be timeless.

An Austin Oldie

By Keith S |

You know a place is good when stores nearby have to put up signs that Kerby customers can't park there. A mid afternoon lunch with a great cheeseburger and an efficient friendly waitress at a good price Menu looked great but I wanted simple

Relaxing Sunday lunch

By elizabeth d |

Don’t go if you don’t have time to relax and wait , this food was delicious 🤤! It is a super busy restaurant because they offer good food. Nice selection of salads and sandwiches too!

Do not bother.

By Carmen M |

After waiting 30 minutes OUTSIDE (Austin in July), went in to check on how much longer...they could not find our name! The three hostesses did not even care! Smug attitude from one. Asked to speak to the manager, he really didn't care either!! I work in the service industry myself. I know all about GOOD customer service. It is a shame that good employees are so hard to find, companies will hire anyone. Will never go back...not because of the error (mistakes happen), because of the attitude.

Fab food and cozy ambience

By Jeffrey H |

There is no better way to eat your way through Austin history time than to start at Kerbey Lane Café which has been in its cottage location since I and many others were undergraduates at nearby UT. Locavores unite!

Awesome breakfast

By Melodie C |

I got the french toast here and it was super yummy :3 Also got a mocha, it was not as strong as I hoped, but still very good! Service was pretty quick and food came out fast!

Cool and Upbeat

By Robert H |

Expect a wait, especially for brunch on week-ends. Easy going atmosphere and service.Building needs a good cleaning however. Food good. Must try the Kerbey Queso. Migias and pancakes really good also. An Austin tradition.

Great late night breakfast!

By Ed K |

Great breakfast menu. Everything was great. Service can be a little slow, but worth the wait. Food is delicious and very fresh. Definitely will go back.

Oh so yummy!!

By SpotTVMom |

Great lunch!!! We stopped after a swim meet with lots of hungry kids. I had a small plate lunch that was huge- pork nachos with mango that great. Queso dip was fantastic. Kids meals were great. One child had a chicken sandwich which was big and the other tried the famous pancakes. They did not disappoint! Great menu with gluten free options. Can't wait to go back! Oh and they have a great military discount for active duty.

Popular Breakfast and Lunch Cafe

By Dana C |

Kerbey Lane is a very popular cafe, often with long waits. That means the food is quite tasty. Our party of six had six different dishes. The pancakes were overwhelming favorites. The queso dip was also a big hit. We also tried one of the eggs benedict choices, the fried chicken and gravy and several egg dishes. Outdoor seating is nice when the weather permits.

Natural Choice for Breakfast

By weyl-59 |

Pancakes, bacon & sausage, migas, coffee, and more later for lunch. Classic Austin -- prepare to wait in line if you go on Sunday morning -- limited parking. But really good!

yummy sweet potato fries and dip!

By saigon75 |

we have been to KL before and enjoy it. it is a sweet venue with a casual, old timey atmosphere. the staff is friendly and warm and the food is served fairly quickly. we went on a saturday evening and surprisingly there was no wait. we also found a parking space right in front. my hubby had the mobster sandwich and enjoyed it. we would definitely return and recommend.

Omelette and a chicken lunch dish..feels like an old house.. near UT Basic..didn’t feel like anything special guess we shoulda tried the pancakes ? But we are Keto ..shoot

Oh que-so!!

By Mara K |

Anytime I can add kerbey queso to a meal, I'm happy! I tried the Francisco plate that was heavenly. To top it off it came with fried avocado and queso on top! Seriously the best. Oh and don't forget to try ANY of their pancakes!!!

Colorful spot with friendly staff

By irisarbor |

I had a nice enough lunch here, but it may be telling that I really couldn't remember what I ate, and had to go look at their online menu to jog my memory. I do remember my hubby had a "strawberry fields" salad and liked that. I am pretty sure I had a chicken club, minus the spicy aioli, which came on a massive bun, and I removed one half of the bun. Their ice-tea-lemonade Arnold Palmer was great, and they refilled them spontaneously and then brought a go cup for what was left at the end of the meal. I found that very thoughtful, given how warm the day was. Really nice server very colorful place. Food was not bad, but the menu just seemed like more of the same to me...

Trendy Brunch

By YIISD |

Four of us went for Sunday brunch. There was an hour wait for the "first available" table. This is a very trendy place open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Though the food was ok, it was not worth the wait

Good breakfast spot

By Rob P |

We went a little later in the morning mid-week, so pleasantly busy but not crowded. Really good breakfast. We loved the beautiful photos on the walls of what must have been about every breed of dog doing doggy things: chasing, fetching, looking at you with those pleading puppy eyes. Go there --

Great place for a casual bite

By Beth H |

We had a lovely casual lunch here. The California omelet was out of this world. The sides are delicious (especially the black beans) and service was friendly. If you are in Austin and want a fresh casual meal don't hesitate to give this a try. We will be back.

Breakfast at it's best!

By Kathy Z |

This icon is one not to be missed! Their pancakes are the best. Of course anything you order here is delicious. It can get crowded so make sure you go early which might be difficult if you like sleeping in. Their coffee is very good so therefore you might not mind waking up early! The staff is very friendly and attentive, too.

California in Texas

Very Boho style restaurant with waiters straight from the Beach in California. Interesting place and the food was excellent. Try the Brussels sprout appeitizer. Was surprisingly good. All the food at the table looked good and the ambience was very pleasant.

Okay, but not great

By Peter K |

We ate here the day of my son's graduation from UT Austin. We came here because my mother was with us and we wanted to find a restaurant that had a good selection that we could all find something. My mother lives in the Northeast and diners are a standard up in that area, but this place was diner in name only! My son has eaten here a few times throughout his 4 years in college, and has enjoyed his meals, but the food we got on this visit was not good. The main reason was because of the temperature of everything! The only food that was hot was my son's home fries for his omelet. His omelette itself was cold, my macaroni and cheese with three pork was very cold and unfortunately the pasta was overcooked. My mother and wife got a chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak respectively, that came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The mashed potatoes were also cold and the broccoli was hard as a rock. Even the white gravy that came with their food was so cold & gelatinous you could stand a spoon up in it! Maybe they were having a bad day because they certainly weren't busy when we were there but we did not enjoy our time there. The server was very good and the location and the interior of the place was very nice.

Better than mine

By Michelle Joseph |

Banana nut pancakes - huge, fluffy, and so so so tasty!!! Waitress that was just the sweetest! Crunchy bacon. I could go on and on. We had a great time. No complaints.

Food is disappointing

By Travelingandtastingtheworld |

My family member wanted to eat here because of a recommendation. The place is colorful and cute. Service of friendly and quick on a Friday night. The food is disappointing. We shared the queso and migas. The queso has absolutely no spice. The migas were scrambled eggs with chips served with Uncle Ben’s rice and black beans with again no flavors and no spices.

Amazing eggs

By MontanaHorn |

For several years my wife and I lived part time in Austin and were on a continual search for the best breakfast and the best migas in Austin. We are back in Austin to avoid the Montana winter for 6 weeks and just visited Kerbey Lane again. The visit convinced me that on a consistent basis Kerbey Lane cooks eggs better than any other place I have visited more than once. Most cafes get in a hurry and cook eggs too fast, even top rated ones. That has never happened to me at Kerbey Lane. The omelet I just had was cooked perfectly and I ate every bite. Also the service is almost always top notch. Kerbey Lane and Magnolia Cafe are still tied on the best migas question. We'll just have to keep going back and back to see if either can take the lead.

Food is great, always busy

By Drlandrum |

if they weren't always so busy (sign of a good place), I'd go more. Food is consistently good - anything with eggs or pancakes is incredible, and their Mediterranean/vegetarian options are always good. Staff is friendly and always willing to make substitutions. Not as easy to get in and out of as the other locations, but has such a great vibe, I like it better

Always good in spite of lack of Parking

By tripandtravel |

Always enjoy Kerby Lane, the original. Food is always great and there is always a crowd. Disappointed in our server this time as he handed the water glasses from the top getting his dirty fingers over the area your drink from. Got a straw but this is low class and the only negative for such a consistently good restaurant.

Love Kerby Lane

By boymomdfw |

Delicious as always! We came here 30+ years ago in college. It still tastes just as delicious as before. We always enjoy the Kerby queso and yummy pancakes.

Best Pumpkin Pancakes Ever!

By Tresa |

Stopped in for breakfast before touring UT Austin and had the most delicious pumpkin pancakes ever and had a bite of the brisket tacos that were delicious. Great place for breakfast and lunch just across Guadalupe from UT Austin. Perfect place to stop when visiting the campus.

Great selection!

By Robin R |

Interesting selection of both egg dishes and pancakes. There are specials of the day and you can have your pancakes "swirled". Especially like the eggs Benedict on a biscuit!

Great GF options

By Jessica T |

They offer lots of super tasty GF options. My daughter and I had their GF french toast (a rare treat at a restaurant) and their chickpea veggie burger (also not something one can usually find GF at a restaurant). Both were fabulous. We did not try but appreciated the option of their seasonal GF pancakes. Would definitely go again.

Original and best

By ndxn |

I've been a couple times to the original Kerby Lane and have never been disappointed. It's a diner and you get diner food. It just happens to be amazing and they have really great selection. As they're open 24 hours each day, if you need some late night dessert or pancakes, this is the definitive place to go.

Different, but still great after all these years...

By Christine S |

Full disclosure: I haunted this place 25 years ago as a student at Texas. Back then I sang the praises of its now gone Kerbey Chicken Sandwich with its grilled chicken breast, cream cheese, mushrooms and sprouts as well as the mocha butter crunch pie and Chris' chocolate cake. Those were the days...HOWEVER, all is not lost! Time goes on and the baked potato omelette I ate last week proved it. So did the blueberry pancakes...like their pumpkin pancakes, you can eat them Pretty Woman-style with no syrup and they are just as fabulous. Alas, if you're a fan of the old Chris' chocolate cake, the newbie chocolate cake is nowhere near the same...but THE PANCAKES ARE, so don't fret Class of '93. Like us, this favorite hangout has changed over the years, but it's not a bad thing, just different.

Nice find

By Kathy R |

We visit the Bullock Texas State History Museum she and found a book listing cafes in Texas. This place was listed, so we thought we'd try it as a change from typical fast food places or chains. It turned out to be a good choice. I had a delicious lamb burger which came with the best French fries that I've had in a long time. My husband and I also split a Cinnamon Roll pancake for dessert. It was scrumptious.

Food is always great!!

By janis t |

Had the chicken enchiladas....YUM! Margarita was a little sour...but food is ALWAYS great!!!! This location has the local art featured on the wall...so it is always different.

Great food "meh" service

By kimmom2011 |

My daughter and I came in to eat at the end of regular lunch service so the restaurant was winding down from a busy time. Our waitress was pleasant but we didn't see her often. I would expect that is the restaurant was busier. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was noisy diner which is typical.

The Original Kerbey

By pdSixty8 |

A quick search nearby showed Kerbey Lane Cafe on the map and when looked at the closely I saw Kerbey Lane. This must be the original location and made my way there. Kerbey Lane is a narrow street where vehicles are allowed to park on both sides, and found the cafe but no parking. I had to turnaround and try again, and luckily someone was leaving a space on the street and took it. With the car parked I walked down the street (no side walk) and noticed it was an old house turned cafe. The outside was very colorful with nice vegetation. Besides the exterior the interior also had great character appeal where I was seated in a room most likely a bedroom back in the day. Anyway I looked over the menu and decided to try the Fried Avocado Tacos. Despite the parking woes there were a lot of people here eating. Kerbey Lane Cafe tends to have great food and been to other restaurant locations, but this was my first time here. The staff was nice and friendly. Soon my order arrived. The tacos looked good. I had avocado tacos at other places and seem they all do it a little different, so was excited to try Kerbey’s. They were delightful and tasty. It’s definitely a great substitute to meat. It was a bit crunchy but soft inside wrapped in corn tortillas. It came with Refried black beans and Mexican rice. The beans were a bit soupy but mixed it with the rice and tasted great. When leaving I noticed they have handicap parking spots and a driveway which I think led to the back with a few parking spots. Overall had a great experience and will spread the word.

Decent food

By Gary T |

There is a reason there are 7/8 Kerbey Lane Cafe's scattered around Austin. The food and service are pretty consistent. I had a solo dinner here and had the Chicken Fried Steak The server took my order within minutes of my arrival. The plate was delivered about 10 minutes later and the Chicken Fried Steak, while small, was quite tasty. The broccoli was good as well, it was steamed and lightly salted I believe. The bacon cheddar masked potatoes were so-so and I believe I'll ask them to substitute fries for them should I order this again. The biscuit that came with the meal was delicious. At $12.75 for the plate, and adding tax and tip, without a drink the total was $16.50 which is not too bad for a decent dinner.
