Beignet Pancakes Should be ILLEGAL!

By James T |

OMG. I could live on Kirby's beignet pancakes! Only, I probably could not get through the door soon, as they must be HIGH CALORIE. YUM!!! They are SO GOOD, they probably should be outlawed! As I consume the breakfast combo (served anytime I might add), my wife is killing another bowl of Kirby Queso. Whoever invented this must have been on drugs! I am sure that eating this food is probably a big part of why Austin is so weird! Keep it up - we never miss at least one meal at Kirby while in Austin. This trip, I think we hit it three times. The lack of parking and seating should be a sign of how good this stuff really is! LOVE IT!!!!

How Many Breakfasts Can You Have in One Day?

By Jagggs |

We had brunch here--breakfast really, and my Benedict variation was yummy. Coffee came frequently and hot. Pancakes, and OMG the French Toasts, made me wish it was possible to eat three breakfasts! Portions were generous, so that's not possible! No wonder this place sells its mixes and has expanded to multiple locations in Austin. Even on a busy Sunday, we were seated quickly. I'd go again and again.Actually, I have!

So So Place

By AQueenB |

So disappointed with the meal, the place, and the staff. We went to celebrate a family Birthday. This restaurant was so dark. The staff was not friendly and the food was so/so. I got the fried avocado tacos which sounded so yummy. There was a small piece of avocado about as big as a pencil. What was there was good and I know the cost of avocados has skyrocketed. But it appeared they filled the taco shell with onions and jalapeños to make up for the lack of avocado. I was able to pick most of the onions off but the jalapeños had seeds in them and were painfully hot. Beware. My sweet girl loved her vegan pancake and the chicken fried steak was pronounced delicious. The eggs Benedict enchilada was unique but the sauce was awful. And my boy got a sprite which no one could identify the flavor of. It certainly was not sprite.

Consistent good food

By Howintex |

This is one of my go to favorites for breakfast in Austin. Been going to Kerbey Lane cafes for 35 years. Good coffee, good omelettes, and decent service. Also great variety of pancakes. I like the Harvest omelette and also get a side of steamed spinach (off menu). Food is consistent amongst the several locations.

Many Breakfast Choices

By Pat D |

My friend and I hit Kerbey Lane Cafe in the Oak Hill area for breakfast the other day. I'd heard good things and she had often been there. It was quite crowded and super busy on this Wednesday morning at 8:30! She ordered a Spanish omelet which was large and, she said, filling. It came with two side items and she chose fruit for both. The fruit was mostly apples with a few pieces of banana thrown in for variety. Having been told by my teenage daughter that the blueberry pancakes were very good, I tried them. After trying to decide between one pancake and the short stack of two, I went for the duo. One would have been very adequate as these pancakes are very large and thick. I tasted coconut so not sure if they contained coconut flour or were cooked in coconut oil, but they were substantial! The blueberries were few and far between and were not served with blueberry syrup, which would have bumped them up a few notches in my opinion. I ordered a slice of ham- a good choice as it was very tasty. Service was excellent and it was for that reason that I give four stars. If I went back, I'd likely try something different though I did enjoy the pancake.

Steady Eddy...lots of hype about a great chef but nothing changed

By noodlehouser |

Everyone raves about this place - all locations - for breakfast. Not our thing. We like to run over from a nearby gym after a late workout for dinner. Food has about the same menu no matter what or what. It is consistently ok. Chicken overcooked. No more rewards program. Draft beers up in price. Staff is fun/funny. It will keep being our "where do we go" place but for convenience. Bummer they can't kick it up a notch.

Twice in Two Days

By CJTravelerTexas |

My brother and I went to the Kerbey Lane Cafe on William Cannon for breakfast twice in two days, once on Saturday and again on Sunday. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. This casual dining establishment has high standards.

Very Good Late Night Meal

By jim6918 |

Six of us stopped in around 10 PM after a country music concert. Luckily we were seated right away, because before long there was a wait for tables. Service was excellent and the menu varied. I had chiliquiles for the first time and really enjoyed them. The portion was huge and for the first time had trouble finishing an entree. I think everybody in our party had something different from sandwiches to pancakes to Mexican. The place was really busy with an eclectic crowd. I would return on a future visit to Austin.

Average Food, not so average Employees.

By TREVI36 |

Im sorry, I don't want to offend anyone but Im a baby boomer and cleaniness around food is what I was taught. I never feel that things are clean in this place, it's just not my style so I only went once and never went back. The employees are nice and friendly but all the tattoos, spiked and pink hair, rings stuck through noses, lips and tongues and the overall "grunge" look of the employees is clearly meant for a generation of people younger than me. They always look so unkept and unclean. Just not for me and they dont want me there either! Ha.

Cowboy Queso

By AlisonB733 |

I love Kerbey Lane. It is mostly a breakfast spot, but their cowboy queso is delicious. Be prepared to wait during peak times and for slow service every time. I've had several items on their menu and have not been disappointed with any of them. The serving sizes are decent. I would definitely recommend this place!

Old time Austin serving large portions of locally sourced food.

By RogerReady3 |

This place is open all the time so I suspect it is difficult to keep clean, but today at lunch it was messy and a little dirty. The bathroom floor needed a lot of attention and a handle was missing from the sink faucet. Nothing gross, but it needs attention. The menu is confusing because it has a little of a number of different genres. Pancakes are a big deal, both literally and figuratively. They have different special flavor of the day. They are plate sized and sold by the count, one, two or three pancakes. Most sandwiches come with either French fries or sweet potato fries. Portions are quite large, really too big for my taste. The staff is usually young, hip and pleasant. Service is prompt and informal. A word of advice, do not go here on Sunday mid-day. There will be a huge wait. It is a very popular spot.

Great breakfast!

By Phyllis J |

Great family breakfast at Kirby Lane! This was our first time there and it was amazing. The food was hot and fresh, and the service was great. My husband had the gingerbread pancakes and I had the breakfast tacos and they were both amazing. Great restaurant!

Average pancakes

By TexasAccent |

Everyone seems to talk about the pancakes at Kerbey Lane Cafe. The wait on a Saturday morning can often be 30 mins to 1 hour. I'll admit, they have a wide range of flavors. They also have gluten-free and vegan pancakes. However, the pancakes I had were very dense. They were not light and fluffy. The flavor was average. They are affordable which may be why they are always crowded. I won't rush back just to go eat breakfast.

$2.00 Mimosas every day!

By Tracy F |

Their menu is extensive, the wait staff excellent, and worth a short wait if you go on the weekend because it is a popular local breakfast place! And open 24/7 to boot!

Always a Classic

By Chris M |

Great food, quick service. Kerbey Lane always has seasonal menu options and their regular features are wonderful. Always has been one of my favorite breakfast spots and a place for late night snacks. This place tends to get extremely busy on the weekends.

Average lunch

By Gary T |

We visited on a weekday and they were fairly busy. Service was relatively fast but the kitchen was extremely slow. The Chicken Fried Steak was a bit overcooked and more breading than meat. The mashed potatoes that came with it were decent but the greens were to greasy. The Greek Chicken was good but not exceptional.

A great institution

By Kate |

This is a great Austin "institution"" and so deserving of it. Try the lemon poppyseed pancakes, and you will be hooked. And with everything else as well.

good selection of breakfast

By Joe S |

Our first visit to this place on a weekend for breakfast. Even though it was crowded, we were seated within a short period of time. The kids had fun watching the small animals outside. The blueberry pancakes was on special and we enjoyed our relaxed breakfast.

Outstanding Breakfast

By CJTravelerTexas |

On this most recent visit to the Kerbey Lane Cafe on William Cannon Drive we found the service to be friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. The migas were perfectly done and the black beans were excellent. I'd return the next time I am in Austin and was looking for a place to have breakfast.

Good choice for lunch but it will be crowded

By RogerReady3 |

I want to like this place more than I do. I am often seduced by interesting specials only to be disappointed and wish I hade chosen a standard offering. My wife usually gets pancakes which are really good all the time. This time I fell for the ahogada sandwich of pulled pork on grilled focaccia bread with a sauce of tomato and lime. The sandwich was propped in a bowl of soup like sauce which didn't compliment the sandwich at all. I wish I had chosen the chicken and avocado sandwich which is really good. The service is sort of blah and seems to be inconsistent, some of the staff are more personal and attentive than others. the place is open all the time so it is hard to keep it clean. I always feel as if the bathroom needs a good scrubbing.

No service

By KerryDeanwat |

i have been here many times but this am I sat at the counter and waited for at least five minutes. Several servers looked at me and kept talking about their allergies and how they were suffering. No menu, no water, no nothing. I will not be back. Y'all need to do better!

Crispy Chicken Benedict -- YUM!

By Rocat26 |

We visited for a late breakfast, around 10 AM, during spring break in Texas. The wait was about 25 minutes. Once seated our server Dayla was quick to bring coffee and my answer questions about the Crispy Chicken Benedict. She assured me I would not be disappointed and she was correct! This was absolutely, without a doubt, one of the best dishes I have ever eaten! My husband ordered pancakes and my son ordered a baked potato omelette which they said were good. But, after tasting mine they agreed it was the best! My son who lives in Austin said he would definitely order it on his next visit - it was that good!

Great place

By tracyandalex |

We love Kerby Lane for its relaxed atmosphere and great food. The servers are always friendly and the food is always good. They have breakfast all day and often have seasonal items.

Local Flavor

By FrequentTraveler1225 |

This restaurant brings in great flavors from around the area. Known for fresh ingredients including vegan food, it has a unique menu including gingerbread pancakes, lemon poppyseed French toast and their take on chicken fried steak. The restaurant is nothing fancy with local artists selling paintings hanging on the wall. Service was good. The wait staff is a little weird, but it is Austin. This is a must go place for unique local flavors.

Lunch with the Grandkids

By dmark521 |

Kerbey Lane is more of a diner than a cafe but, no matter what you call it, it is good! Full service diner menu that has both a Mediterranean and Tex-Mex flavor. No matter what you choose, you won’t be disappointed. Clubs for the adults and pancakes for the kids—all were devoured in short order! We did have a short wait to be seated, but it was shorter that we expected and the corner large table was perfect for the kids. Our server was attentive and kid friendly!

great breakfast

By spinman15 |

The service was good, as was the food. I had a wheat apple pancake, ham slice, & orange juice. all very good.

Sunday Brunch

By Adam G |

Another Sunday brunch at Kerbey Lane Café. This was my first trip to this location. The staff was friendly and service prompt. I ordered the grilled chicken pesto panini and my wife had a salad. Our food arrived promptly but my wife's salad was incorrect. The issue was quickly resolved and 15% was taken off of our tab for the mistake. When in Austin Kerbey Lane Café is a must try

Kerbey Lane was a good morning breakfast stop

By Chris H |

My wife was in absolute love with this place when she used to frequent often. So needless to say, we had to stop there when we went down. Unfortunately, it just seemed like another Denny's, Perkins, etc to me. Their waffles were pretty good but everything else I just thought was average.

Good comfort food

By vetfun98 |

Food is good here, love the green hatch Chile hash but it is a pretty small portion, gingerbread pancakes are my favorite. Service is a bit slow. I understand the wait to be seated but close to 45 minutes to get basic breakfast food is a bit long in my opinion.

Amazing Food and Service!

By trvlzom62 |

Family and friends party of 10....The service and food was excellent. Our party had both Breakfast and Lunch items on a Sunday and staff was very helpful on a extremely busy day at the restaurant.

Great food and service

By Cindy Y |

Our first time here but kids had been there before. Good selection of foods we like. Reuben was great. Non traditional sauce on it but still good. Mi gas looked great along with French toast. Friendly service and decent prices. We definetly will go back here when in town.

Reliable and consistent cafe

By Sivan M |

The have American foods as well as other options in their menu. They cafe in my opinion is one of the better places to go compared to others in the area. Average price per person - $12-16

Sheer yuminess

By Joe D |

Eggs Francisco and potatoes with a bowl of fruit on the side, excellent service, tea glass continuously filled. Quick service considering it was 11:30 Sunday morning. Absolutely fantastic meal.

Great menu, great food, great people!

By B J |

We were DELIGHTED with our experience the other night after being together for church, worship and meeting new friends! Every plate that was different and we ALL thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We'll be back!

Never got served.

By Colin R |

We got seated outside for breakfast. 10 minutes later, no one had even looked at us for so much as a drink order, so we left. The hostess faked an apology when we told her why we were leaving. The ironic part is I think the manager was out on the patio interviewing a new server, and didn't even notice that there were hungry customers not being served.

5 stars

By CristianSF1012 |

This place has a nice free go it en and veggie menu. The omelette are Delicious and very healthy. I recommend this place !!!

Not Ready for Prime Time

By omaopatravellers |

Prime time is a holiday like Father's Day and most restaurants gear up to accommodate the overflow. But when the waitstaff chosen is dirty, rude and possibly coming off a very bad Saturday night, I would rather be somewhere else. The food was adequate. Several years ago, we ate at the original Kerbylane. There, we waited and waited until we realized that the waitstaff was giving his friends the tables...and not following the list. And so we didn't plan we would be back again, but decided to give the new location a chance. Bad choice. Even given Austin's wonderful laid back vibe, this company still needs some form of standards in whom they hire.

Not that great

By glennroid |

I've really not done that well at this Kerbey Lane location. I've had combinations of poor food and service over the years since it's opened. Decided to try again today for the first time in a couple of years. Sat at the counter and had a Turkey Club Sandwich for lunch. It was a bit after lunch time, but the place was pretty busy. There was a lot of action behind the counter, servers bantering with each other and seeming to be having a good time. One young woman showed something on her phone to another briefly. I can't believe that that's something that management would tolerate though. I know I wouldn't if I was a manager. My server was decent and attentive. My sandwich came out pretty quickly and was reasonably good. The mixture of regular and sweet potato fries were another story. Luke warm and soggy, I asked for another portion. My server was quite pleasant about it and the new portion was better, hot but not quite as crisp as I like fries. Because the turkey and bacon were ok but not fabulous, I'm giving this place 2 stars and hopefully they'll continue to improve.

Not the usual great Kerby Lane

By Zamigaos |

It was a busy Friday morning prior to July 4th, so there was a 20 minute wait - even at 9am. Lots of kids and families off school and work. But, there is usually a wait at KLC and it was a beautiful day to wait outside in the shade. They have lots of seating and shade out front. The service this time was average to less than average. Our server seemed to have too many tables and our table of two was kind of an after thought when she was done with her other larger tables. The table was not very clean when we sat down. We did get drinks fairly quickly. But, then it took a long time before she came back to take our order. We had to ask about the special pancake of the day and it just seemed she was rushed and in a hurry. The plates came out and the migas were great - though came out with no salsa? We had to ask for that. And, the Kerby Breakfast of eggs, sausage and 2 pancakes was really blah. The plate had a tiny little egg, one rock-hard disk of sausage, and two really good blueberry/strawberry/banana pancakes. The plate was chipped and had dried "something" on the bottom. The food was average - nothing great, but was fine. We have just had much better service and food at other times when we have visited. Usually we love breakfast here, but it was lacking today. We'll be back to try it again, but hope that they don't lose that great Austin vibe we have always loved...where you get funky, along with great food and service.

Very good!

By TxGirl1973 |

Very good food! We were in Austin on 4/19/13 - 4/21/13 for the "Tough Mudder" and a friend of ours who used to live in Austin recommended this place. We liked it so well we ate there three times during our trip - once for breakfast and twice for dinner. I had the migas and the chicken enchiladas and my husband had the bison burger and all of the dishes were VERY good. The sweet potato fries were awesome! They had a good vegetarian and gluten free selection as well. The service seemed a little slow but there was a large group of us (12 people) so I'm sure that made it challenging. I would definitely recommend this place.

Iconoclasmic

By seannamolly |

I know many love Kerbey Lane. After all they have a comfort, local, seasonal menu, serve beer and wine, and have a kid's eat free with adult purchase Tuesday. I am no longer a lover. Ten years ago when I first moved here from up North, I was appalled at the horrible customer service at the South Lamar, but could not get enough Paris Texas Platters and Fair Trade coffee. Now I take my four year old there on Tuesdays. I am not cheap looking for the free meal for her, she just likes being around as many other kids as possible. Good thing too, because they charge for her kids meal every Tuesday anyway! Not my job to enforce corporate policy, so I review. The food is sourced well -- no doubt about it. They clearly state on the menu the farm from which their meats come. The veggies are always fresh, so salads are a great option. Desserts are decadent, and worth sharing if you have not already had pancakes or a cinnamon roll. Hell they even introduced me to hibiscus mint tea which seems made for the heat in Austin, but... you and a friend will drop $50 for small portions other than cheap carbs. I will still go there I am sure, because of the aforementioned, but ten years and a new shiny location later, and service still sucks. Management seems afraid to ask a diner how the meal is, the wait staff glorify their evenings of debauchery in front of the diners, and the food still gets there when they are ready to bring it to you...part of a table at a time if they want. Take a BIG cup with you if you are going to want a refill. Oh yeah, they are not always slow and apathetic, the check arrives before you wipe your mouth and sit back to relax.

Kirbey Lame?

By FoodfanUSA |

Heard a lot about this place as one to go to for breakfast. Overall very disappointed. Great attentive staff. It's clear they're well trained and managed. Food was just ok. I had the scramble and was disappointed at the small portion size. Others in our party had different items with similar sentiments. National well known chains provide more/better for less money. Kirbey, crank up the price value, ie larger portions, and with your great service you'll have something special.

Tasty breakfadt

By Marie H |

I ordered the French toast platter and my husband ordered the breakfast platter with pancakes. Both were very good. Husband commented several times on how good the pancakes were. We bought some of the Kerbey Lane packaged pancake mixes to take home. Our waiter was very attentive, friendly and on top of things. Even though it was very busy we were well taken care of.

Lunch

By Haley H |

Cinnamon roll, Kirby queso, French toast, & migas- a great mix of Mexican food and breakfast food. Cooked quick, but great. I prefer the cinnamon roll to add a bit of sweet with your salty

It's holy crap good

By Lauren G |

I don't dole out five star reviews lightly, but this place is amazeballs. Big portions, awesome service, and some of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had in my life. I can't remember the specific location I went to, but it was in a shopping center with the most adorable dog boutique that I shopped at while waiting for my table. The restaurant allows dogs on the patio by the way, which seems to be normal practice in Austin.

Manager makes good

By Sandy G |

Frequent customer noticed service not usual. Not busy. Many empty booths. Seated by young woman. Not noticed for a time. Finally waitress Kat attends me but misinformed about pancake special. Returns with news that she was wrong. I adjusted my order. However inordinate amount of time to food delivery. Food good but spent too much time for lunch in a non busy restaurant. Manager, Micha, learned of my dissatisfaction as well as another customer and reduced my bill to $0. Much appreciated. They explained new hostess in training didn't inform waitress of my seating.

Hipsters and Pancakes and Much More

By blaizessun |

I stayed with friends who live within walking distance of this location of Kerbey Lane, so I dined in and ate a lot of take out from this spot. The food is consistently delicious. The vegetarian selections are good. The vegan selections are good. I enjoyed every single thing I ate from this place, from pancakes to quesadillas. The people watching is fun here, and there tends to be cool art on the walls.

Always a great place for breakfast

By barretta |

Innovative treatments of old classics -- lemon zest pancakes! My wife had her favorite, apple spiced pancakes. I'm pretty much a classic brekkie guy, but yesterday, I wanted breakfast tacos. Well filled, fast and friendly service, and a decent price. Plan to wait if you hit it mid-morning on weekends, as the late risers converge in need of caffeine for brunch.

Nice lunch on an outside patio

By DocHarrisHHI |

My first visit to a Kerbey Lane Cafe, an Austin tradition, this one in Southwest Austin. I had a fajita salad with chicken. The salad greens were fresh, the guacamole nicely spiced and the salsa had a good kick. The salad was nicely sized and there were a good selections of beers available. The best part was a pleasant outdoor covered patio without too much traffic noise. A good first impression of a casual lunch.

KERBEY " LAME"

By micyer |

Let's see, food delivered late, service stunk, and order was wrong. I think that's the trifecta, which intersects the streets of lame and inept. I don't travel this road to KERBEY Lane often, but from now on it will be a road less traveled. If you want to train your waiters don't do it with live customers

great service - food ok

By ALAN W |

We were inAustin visiting relatives & decided to go out for breakfast one morning. This place was recommended so we went here. It seems like a cool place. The server was great. With such a large menu of breakfast items, there was nothing for a plain basic simple breakfast. All items were with all sorts of stuff I didn't want. My wife got a platter with eggs & pancakes & fruit. She likd it. I had coffe only because I couldn't get just plain eggs. Prices were high for breakfast.

Nothing special

By bbwex |

Kerbey Lane is, at best, average. Though not busy, service was fair an somewhat inattentive. Oatmeal was served so full of liquid that it had to be returned and it took sometime to prepare more. A couple of regular breakfasts were nothing out of the ordinary.

You Didn't Mean to Serve This Did You?

By TallyHoHoHo |

Okay, when you tap your pancake on a plate and it makes a clinking sound, I think it's a pretty safe bet that something has gone awry. That has been our experience now the last three times we've gone, and last night, we decided we are not going to try again. It's sad, because I've loved Kerby Lane since the 80's. I've always enjoyed their ambience and the food has always been good. But, now that they've added additional locations, the food quality has taken a serious dive. This place makes Denny's sound appetizing lately...

OUTSTANDING BREAKFAST FOOD

By Janiam33 |

All locations of Kerbey Lane have outstanding breakfast food. We are new to the area and every Sunday we try a new location. This one must be the newest. It's good clean and quirky. The food is consistent at all locations so it really a matter of which one is convient. Great great great food. Gluten free menu and vegan choices if that's your gig. But must say the bacon is done just right ;-)

Good Breakfast Choice

By texas_forrest |

Large restaurant with room for a lot of people - and the restaurant was full - sign of a good choice. Food was quite good. Menu had the typical breakfast choices.

Cozy little breakfast spot with really good food.

By kln63 |

Went here with my family for a day in Austin as we live in San Antonio. This restaurant is tiny but seems to have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for everyone interested. I had the California omelet........loved it. About $10 a plate but the portions are large and the service is prompt and friendly. The only issue is parking. Very scarce and tight around the street where it is located. We ended up parking across the street at Burger KIng and purchasing an orange juice there, so we wouldn't be towed away. Well worth the risk. The bathrooms are remodeled, clean and large. Hopefully we will get the opportunity to visit here again.

So so

By Wedgewood |

Stopped here for breakfast while visiting Austin for the weekend. It is a nice little local chain, but it is pretty average all around. I had the baked potato omelet and my wife had the breakfast taco. Neither was anything to write home about. I would not necessarily avoid eating here again, but would not go out of my way to do so.

Great food, great service

By DrSchellPhD |

Kerbey Lane Austin original. They have amazing creative food and great service. The manager James is awesome and quickly resolves any problem.

Nice Breakfast Joint

By Aceeker |

I think the best part of the Kerbey Lane Cafe was the atmosphere. The interior was colorful, and I remember the light fixtures were unique. It was not crowded when I arrived around 8:30 on a Saturday morning, but by the time I left, there was a line at the door - a good sign of the popularity of the place. I had the Paris Texas Platter, and it provided a good sized portion of food.

Great breakfast or lunch place, but crowded

By blreiss |

I love this place. (I wish my husband did.) The food is good and well prepared, they have vegetarian and gluten free options, and the servers are really nice (if occasionally slow). Try their hummus! It's seriously delicious and not too garlicky.

Awesome Burger!

By Steve D |

This was my first visit to Kerbey Lane but not the last. I had tried to eat here before but it was too busy. I ordered the Greek Lamb Burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was delicious! It was a large, thick patty with delicious toppings. The fries were perfect and also a large portion. The service was fast and very friendly. Thank you Cody for being such a friendly and awesome server. The prices are reasonable. It is always busy here but the food is worth it.

Great day in the morning, the pancakes!

By UTLAWgrad |

This applies only to the newer location on South Lamar that I went to personally, however, my experience in the past has been positive with the other, older locations. Unlike the other locations on the whole, this one has parking galore, which is nice. And the food -- light, fluffy, treat-yourself pancakes made by chefs who know their way around a griddle.

Another Austin institution

By kaenhu |

One of those places I used to go to all the time as a college student and now as a mom and suburbanite. I am grateful to have a Kerbey Lane Cafe in the 'burbs near me but I definitely prefer the vibe of the original location or even the one on S. Lamar. The one near UT campus is new to me so I have not gone but I can imagine a very good vibe there too. Not to say anything bad about this particular location but it is very suburban. I would not recommend it for a visitor who wants to get a bit of the Austin vibe. At any rate, the food here is really good, fresh ingredients. The vegan selections are phenomenal and I think it's great that they offer vegan items for everything--appetizers, breakfast, lunch, dinner, sides, and dessert. That is great for a restaurant that does not specialize in vegan food. I have gotten the vegan breakfast platter, the vegan breakfast tacos, in addition to the hippy burger and the portobello sandwich (both without cheese). The waitress also gave me a sample of the vegan queso and it was great. I've also had some of their vegan desserts and you would not know that they didn't have eggs or dairy. On my days when I'm not feeling so vegan, I like the Cowboy Queso. Family friendly, lots of good options on the kids' menu. Just an overall solid experience.

Worst fries ever

By FrankWill |

Went for a quick bite with my lovely wife, had a jalapeno blue cheese bison burger which was tasting very well, but boy, the fries served were the worst ever, soggy and limp. My wife had the 512 Pecan Porter short ribs, good taste. Waitress caught the fact that the cook did not glaze them and had it done properly and took some of the ticket. They have interesting items on the menu, never fries again though Has a family atmosphere, service was good

Love love love Kirby Lane

By MelPK14 |

Always delicious, always great service. It doesn't matter if you go for breakfast, lunch or dinner... have never been disappointed. The black bean tacos are SOOOOO so good.

Something for everyone

By AustinEEE |

We've started to frequent this particular Kerbey Lane. The staff is laid back and friendly and we've found the food excellent. They also serve such a wide variety there is something for everyone. In fact, we've found they have some of the best mexican food in southwest austin.

Can't beat Kirby Lane for breakfast!

By BensMom2 |

My sister's and I ate our departing breakfast at Kirby Lane last weekend. My oh my was it a hoppin' place! We had to wait about an hour before we were seated. It's worth it though....their French Toast is wonderful and some of the best Migas I've had! Great cup of coffee too and our waiter was very attentive.

Terrific and dog friendly!

By Jamie P |

I met friends for lunch/late breakfast here today. There was a decent wait but that's to be expected at Kerbey Lane on a beautiful Saturday! To my surprise, our 4-legged friends are allowed on the patio! We all had breakfast and all enjoyed every bite. Service was great as well! Two thumbs up here!!!

A must-stop!

By Nancy SC |

This has been one of my favorite places since my daughter moved to Austin years ago. There is no better place for pancakes, and their daily special flavors add fun to your day. It’s always packed so prepare to wait. This visit was wonderful as I introduced family members visiting for the first time. We had sumptuous breakfasts. Love their southwest spin on classics. Huge portions and everything cooked great.

Good reliable food - open 24 hrs

By RogerReady3 |

My 4 star rating is relevant to other similar style restaurants. This place has a huge following for good reasons. They have an eclectic menu of breakfast, lunch and Mexican food available around the clock. They also use local products whenever possible and support local artists. I have eaten in several ones and the William Cannon location a half dozen times. The food is consistently good. Pancake junkies have fits over their many flavors. This place will give any diner or 24 hr restaurant anywhere serious competition and blow most of them out of the water.

Amazing choice to have an excellent and delicious breakfast. Great service, great food, great facilities and great prices.

Love this place!

By Jennifer W |

This is my Cheers. I'm here almost every Saturday for pancakes. The staff is great and so are the customers. And they do great non-pancake food too. Don't think I've ever had a bad meal here.

Not likely to return

By Texan2016 |

Unfortunately this visit was a deal breaker for us. Over the last 6 months to a year we have watched the service go down hill and management try to cover up with apologies and taking some item off of the bill before anyone can say what the issue was. Appreciated but I'm afraid the issues need to be dealt with. While an item off of the bill sounds like nothing to complain about, it's become a regular thing for them I've noticed. Not just with our ticket but for other patrons as well. Food is always good but not worth sitting through bad service.

Love those pancakes!

Kerbey Lane is of our must go to places each time we visit Austin. Always good value, always a good selection of dishes. always good service - although some of the waiting staff definitely follow the Keep Austin Weird slogan.

Breakfast Items Available All Day

By beenthereboerne |

We visited for the first time last week and were disappointed comparing them to their Austin locations. We should have known better because it is popular for breakfast items. As we has already eaten breakfast we elected to try the battered fish. Batter was awful, fish not bad but next time we will go for the breakfast items instead.

Decent breakfast and lunch with large servings and local ingredients.

By RogerReady3 |

We have eaten here several times and have never been excited and never irritated. It is sort of blah. Great pancakes. But, they never figured out what they are. They are open 24 hours a day so things are a little weird. They have a little of this and a little of that, but not a lot of anything. Make no mistake, it is very popular and on Sunday mid-day it is absolutely packed. It just seems that every time I eat here, I wish I had ordered something else. This time things seemed a little dingy, actually dirty. The bathroom floors were in serious need of scrubbing. There was debris on the floor, everywhere. I guess that when you are open 24 hours a day it is hard to find time to do a good job of cleaning. It showed. It will be a while before I return. There are too many other options.

Great breakfast place!

By Jen S |

Do NOT miss the Kirby queso (queso with guac and tomoatoes) and the perfect chips. Had the migas, but the pancakes that my friend had looked amazing. Funky, quaint little place. Great prices. Perfect for breakfast or late night snacks.

Keep Going Back to Nabil Salad

By mapleRose |

One of my top 3 favorite salads in Austin. It's nice to try new things, but it's also nice to have a standby favorite place and salad, too. With chicken added, it is well balanced for protein fats and carbs, fills me up, but doesn't leave me feeling sleepy! Probably just enough room for a bite of someone else's pancake!

Busy, Fast and Delicious

By kentwaddington |

Frequented Kerby Lane Café twice on a recent visit to Austin and was impressed both times with the fast service, friendly staff and good food. A run on the home fries meant when we ordered the kitchen was running behind so the server offered us the more expensive sweet potato fries at no charge so we wouldn't have to wait on our orders. The food is plentiful, some of it even creative when it comes to the flavors of their pancakes which include buttermilk, gingerbread, apple whole wheat, blueberry, and weekly and vegan special plus gluten-free ... although I would advise a pass on the gluten-free as they were a bit dry and tasteless ... but don't let that prevent you from checking out Kerbey Lane. Next time I'll go with the regular buttermilk. Menu is extensive with some very tasty desserts, plenty of breakfast options including their signature omelets, biscuits and gravy, breakfast tacos, a number of Tex-Mex offerings and a generous offering of sandwiches and burgers. Don't forget the chai tea or the freshly-squeezed orange juice.

Great menu selections

By Shelly W |

This is another one our fave late night breakfast spots. Healthy menu choices and delicious food. If you haven't been to one of the Kerby lanes in the Austin area, you should go at least once and try it.. but you'll be back at least a 2nd time😁

Great breakfast with a nice Austin atmosphere...

By Itinerant_scholar |

Word of mouth has it that Kerbey Lane is a local classic, and our breakfast visit to the southwest location certainly backed up that impression. The surroundings are mildly retro, but not oppressively so, and both the staff and a lot of clientele are young and with-it types who enjoy their time at the restaurant. The atmosphere, in fact, reminded me a little of the original Hyde Park, up north on Duval. There is outside seating to be had, although it was all spoken for when we arrived on a sunny and pleasant Friday morning, so we stayed indoors. Breakfast was great -- poached eggs for Madame (maybe just a little overdone, but still the real thing) with hollandaise; fried eggs, sausage (homemade and delicious), toast and fruit for your intrepid correspondent. The orange juice seemed fresh-squeezed and, wherever it came from, was terrific. Service was friendly and on-time, even on a really crowded morning when guests were split about evenly between breakfast and lunch items. It was a fine and satisfying experience. There is beer and wine on the menu, the offerings are unusual (for breakfast, lots of platter combinations) and diverse, and the crowd is quite congenial. There is enough parking, and it's free, although on this particular morning (the start of a long holiday weekend) I needed to circle the building once before finding a spot. We look forward to ranging freely through the menu on future visits -- we definitely hope to come back --

Favorite late night eatery

By Gail B |

One of the few places in Austin that serves great breakfasts all day and into the night. Beside breakfasts, the sandwiches and comfort foods should please the most discerning diner. The enchiladas and fish tacos are excellent as well. Good food and generally great service. Be advised that the wait during peak time can be long as this is a popular place.

Good specialties are the Kirby queso, lemon poppyseed pancakes, and the grilled cheese with bacon and pear slices.

Breakfast

By Dwagner98 |

Kerbey Lane has been one of our favorites for years, an Austin original, and where we would take out of town guests. We live close to the William Cannon location, we cannot speak for other locations, haven't been to S.Lamar in a while. The last few times we went there, when our food arrived, it was cold. There is nothing appetizing about cold eggs & cold pancakes. I would have given it less than two stars, but didn't because of past experiences. My husband said he may never go back.....so sad!

Birthday brunch for son

By Anvee |

Very busy café, but we had booked ahead. I had French toast with bacon and egg - so delicious - have not had French toast for years.

Very very good!

By Joseph M |

Went here for a post graduation breakfast. It was great! The staff was super friendly (Ike wad awsome), the food was excellent and the atmosphere wad intriguing. The *only* issue I had was the lack of sides on the omlets. Too many carbs and no protein option. Some bacon or sausage would have been a good choice to be able to chose from. I will definitely go again and check to see if they read my review. ;)

Going to IHOP or Denny's Next Time

By wtexram |

Went there on a weekend with family for late breakfast. Very crowded, had to wait 25 minutes. Parking was limited so had to use the Panda Express lot. Food was lukewarm as was the coffee. Something vegan? passed as sausage. Bacon was OK.

Good food, friendly service

By gustav2011 |

Very friendly and good service. The food portions are very large and they have a nice mix of several different types of dishes, salads, breakfasts etc. They also had a large selection of soda, coffee and tea drinks. It was busy but the wait was short.

CV 19 update on the "hippie" restaurant on the south side of town

By 1234texas |

This place is really a "turn your clock back 50 years" kind of establishment than draws in a very eclectic crowd. We like the place because of the excellent food at very reasonable prices. The place is a little dull inside, but the people are the real show here! You see a lot of different souls here! The service has always been good for us, the parking is easy and the wait time is non existent if you go in the off hours--as we do. They are doing a first rate j0b with the Covid issues--good masking, and distance between tables. We feel very comfortable eating here,

Home cooking reimagine!

By Russell L |

I come here or original locations whenever I come to Austin. They have good food served with a good helping of warm, responsive waiter staff. Not sure how they keep the culture going for these .any years. Today I had Lone Star Reuben with sweet potato fries & mayonnaise. Very nice.

We eat here everytime we are in Austin. Love IT!!!

By CMD915 |

I cannot explain to you how much I love Kerbey Lane! We eat here at least once on every trip to Austin and I really wish they would open one in El Paso. Let me say that I have never had a bad meal here. My favorites are the Baked Potato Omelet or the Eggs Francisco. They are both amazing, but it gets even better--you can substitute your sides for their famous pancakes! I love the seasonal ones but also the blueberry is great. You can get two pancakes (they will even let you choose two flavors) instead of your sides for $2. The pumpkin is amazing and a must try. So get one of those and choose another flavor to try. If you are in Austin>>>>>>>go here.

Wonderful Breakfast

By CJTravelerTexas |

After finding our favorite Mexican restaurant was closed on Sunday morning, my brother and I went to Kerbey Lane Cafe for breakfast. We got there around 7:15 AM and were immediately seated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. I'd be inclined to return to this restaurant should I be in the area again.

Brunch

By QuickWhitTravel |

This was a fantastic place for brunch! My friend brought me here on the recommendation of her Aunt and sister, and we could see why! It's a combination of classic and unique fare.

Great brunch

By Madeline C |

Our favorite meal for the day is breakfast so we are always looking for a good place to have brunch. We went to eat at Kerbey Lane and we had really good food and service. I like the fact that they have gluten free food items. The Cafe does get busy on the weekends but that's to be expected.

Disappointing Again

By charlesdonnal |

Ate here a few times. Service is generally good, atmosphere is Austin chic, prices are fair (especially since the quality of most items I’ve eaten are lacking in quality). Today I had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were served whole, not sliced, with a small dollop of cold gravy on top. The booth we were seated at had a broken back and every time the lady behind me moved I got bumped. I did not ask to be moved as she was finishing up. Once she left I informed the hostess and she said she would let the manager know. I never saw the manager. There were several open tables both inside and out. Once the table was cleared and cleaned she set a family there. I’m a big guy, this guy was bigger. Once he set down I was squashed and bumped constantly. I got my check, paid my bill, and left without finishing my meal. On my way out the door I informed the same hostess that I thought her behavior was inconsiderate. I did not give her time to respond. I walked out and will not return.

Not what it used to be!

By Bud K |

Maybe it is just this location however we found the menu to be scaled back mostly breakfast and Burgers even at 2 PM The food was fine but the music was loud and not conducive to dining. The wait staff seem to like it a lot , but they were mostly jeans and Tee shirts.... If it weren't for the food ( which was very good) I would have rated the restaurant lower because of the atmosphere. .

tasty breakfast with gluten free options

By GypsyKelly |

I have enjoyed breakfast at Kerbey Lane numerous times and especially enjoy that I can eat healthy and gluten free without feeling like I am putting them to extra work. They are so gracious and even suggest ways to make it even healthier.

A Must Eat

By jbbullard |

When in Austin Kirby Lane is a must! The gingerbread pancakes are always amazing. The food is great, but the staff and atmosphere are just as amazing. Thank you Kirby Lane!!

Very good food

By Passport75640 |

I ate lunch there last week while I was in Austin. Loved the Grilled Cheese with bacon and pear sandwich. It was excellent. I will definitely go back there again the next time I am in Austin. We went there at lunch time. Service was a little slow but to be expected at that time of day. The restaurant was crowded but we were seated right away. The server was very friendly and kept making sure everything was ok.

Great breakfast, we all came away happy!

By Mr M |

We got there a little late in the morning, and so the queue of a Sunday was about 30-40 minutes. We waited patiently and everyone was happy to do so. My wife and I had both been surprised to see how 'big' the restaurant was, and every table full with people and food. The waitress seated both my wife and I, and got a small chair for my daughter. The food itself is amazing, really good food, and the price was very reasonable too. We have fresh 'juice' and ordered some bacon with the pancakes. My wife had a 'half' portion which was more than enough, and the flavor was really great on those. I had friend chicken and it wasn't greasy or poorly seasoned, everything tasted really great and we would happily return here just to see what else there is on the menu.

Most overrated in Austin

By scampanozzi |

I have no idea where there’s a line out the door for this place. Maybe it’s locals, tourists, or just people who don’t know any better. Overpriced and poor service leaves you questioning as to why you even went. I’d be better off at a Cracker Barrel.

Excellent Food and Service, But Noisy

By Pstreet1 |

All 6 of us enjoyed our breakfast, and we had a variety of pancakes: gingerbread, buttermilk, and beignet. Servings were unbelievably ample, and the service was prompt. (Call ahead to get into the seating line.) The only complaint any of us had was the noise level. Everything is hard surface, so there is nothing to absorb any noise. That, of course, causes people to talk more loudly to be heard--and increases the noise level even more. Altogether, though, a great place for breakfast.

Our regular brunch spot

By Victoria |

Food's great, service is great and I love that they do seasonal menus. The staff seem genuinely happy and are friendly and efficient without being over the top (I'm a Brit in TX, I find servers intrusive sometimes - not here!) and in all the times I've been here I've never had a bad meal. There's often a wait at weekends, but it's worth it! Plus this place is open 24 hours so it's perfect for post-drinks pre-6am breakfast or grabbing something to eat on the way back from the airport. The Kerbey Queso is amazing, but they had me at $2 mimosa... If you're the kind of people that prefer to patronize businesses that have good ethics then Kerbey Lane is for you.

Eclectic Cafe

By Texhusky75 |

This is not your average cafe menu. You will find not only hamburgers but a lamb burger as well. They also give you a choice of regular fries or sweet potato fries as well. Many people were ordering breakfast and it was way past noon on a Saturday. Locals love it but I think there are better than average places that you can find elsewhere in Austin.

Nice breakfast joint

By G S |

First time trying Kerby Lane. My wife and I tried it for breakfast before leaving Austin. I had the Migas with chorizo. Dish came with rice and beans along with your choice of tortillas. Eggs were seasoned perfectly. The portion size was large and I was able make 2 meals out of dish. My wife had the French toast platter. Everything was cooked to her liking and she thought the French toast was flavorful. The service at this location was great. Our server was super sweet and did a great job taking care of us.

Really good food, diverse menu.

By Nicole_Gus_2010 |

I have never been disappointed about the food here, there is a great menu with plenty to choose from. Enough to satisfy the pickiest of eaters. The only drawbacks to going here is that it is always crowded and you have to wait. Honestly I haven't checked if you can make reservations so if you can, I would highly recommend it. Be prepared to wait if you don't.

Pancakes tasted like McDonald pancakes

By Noelia G |

The food was just okay, not worth the price. The wait staff was awesome and very helpful but the food was just blah. I don't know why it is so popular.. We ate pancakes and honestly tasted like Mcdonalds pancakes. So we could have just gone to McDonalds and ate the same thing for so much less.

Best breakfast food around

By Kaitlyn S |

I love breakfast any time of day, so that's what makes Kerbey Lane perfect! It's always so hard to choose between pancakes or migas or their omelettes...so many options that are all so yummy! Now that there are so many locations, it's pretty convenient to be able to eat at one any time I'm in town. Love it!

Love Kerbey Lane

By QuickWhitTravel |

I've only been to Austin twice and each time only for a fay or two, but I've been to Kerbey Lane 3 times! I love their breakfast, and their staff are always friendly. I recommend it!

good cafe... ok food

By GB_InTexas |

been there many times with family great place for late night / early morning food not something to write home about, most of the food is main stream, but I love the coffee. you have to be patient with the staff there... some are very attentive, but others are not really there... again, worth visiting for the convenience... and decent food...

Quirky? Yes. Good? No.

By MinimalTravels |

After trying Kerbey Lane in Southwest Austin on several occasions, it's now time to review for the consistently and unexpected poor service. Kerbey Lane is indeed quirky, but that's not enough to offset the let down I've had each time I've been there. On this occasion, we waited a reasonable amount of time to be seated given the time of day, but the service from there left a lot to be desired. The order was taken promptly and courteously, with each person's items being repeated back correctly. When the food arrived by someone other than our waitstaff, we were missing extra items from one plate (bacon), butter for pancakes on another plate, Nutella for the special of the day pancake which was also to include bananas (one slice of banana found in the entire pancake). We thought this had been an issue with order prep and not the waitstaff, but noticed after we left that the bill had not reflected the kids eat free promotion either. I returned the next day to have my bill adjusted for the approximately $8 error, only to hear that the manager on duty didn't have the appropriate authority or permissions in their system to recall our order and credit the error. A copy of my charge slip and itemized ticket was made along with the promise that a manager would contact me tomorrow. They intended to do this without getting my phone number, so I offered it up so they could actually try to correct the error. The return trip to resolve the error wasn't successful, but they were courteous and seemed to attempt to resolve the issue. Hopefully I get that call tomorrow indicating the credit has been applied. In the end, these errors just don't make the wait times and expense of the meals worth the trouble.

Always great food, service, and atmosphere tha rg keeps you coming back. Huge menu for every taste at any time of the day.

Good pancakes

Excellent service and friendly. Breakfast was good. The pancakes were very good as well as the scrambled eggs and bacon.

Good old time diner

Has a nice old time diner atmosphere. The seasonal lemon poppyseed pancakes were delicious. The service was somewhat slow.

A step above the usual diner

Great food, nice atmosphere. Breakfast 24 hours a day, and an Austin staple. There are so many must visits in Austin, you may not have time, but you won't be disappointed.

Good Breakfast/Lunch place

By DebsDoodle |

Nice place. Good service. Close to UT. Solid food. Special pancakes were great! The seasonal menu was fun too. Priced reasonably.

I know others don't agree but...

By Lindarene |

I know Kerbey Lane is a local institution and my son loves to eat at Kerbey Lane but I just can't get excited about the food. Everything seems pretty average to me and for the money, I'd rather just cook it myself. They have quite the selection of pancake flavors but the pancakes themselves are dense and have a weird texture that is unappealing. The burgers and sandwiches are dry and nothing on the menu really makes me feel excited to try it. The service is excellent, I will have to give them that, but overall the most enthusiasm I can muster for the place is the fact that I don't have to do the dishes! I give it a solid "meh".

Breakfast in Austin

Recommended by our Sons and a friend in Austin...delicious!! Confused with other 'Kirby Lane' restaurant...however, this one is the one...for delicious breakfast entrees!!

Wonderful Location

By Roostrdude |

I am so happy this hippie restaurant finally opened in my neck of the Austin woods. All the great Kerbey Lane menu items, great selections of draft beers, pancake of the day, plenty of praking and a nice outside patio section.

Awesome

By Krbfo |

Delicious. Huge portions. Lots of variety. Gluten free options- YAY! Just like so much of Austin a little quirky, but that's ok

Not as good as the old location on S. Lamar

By rbholder |

If there was a 'Good' rating I would have given that. It's better than 'Average' but not 'Very Good'. The food is good but a bit pricey. The wait staff is excellent. The ambience is OK. If you go on Sunday morning be prepared to wait.

So many delicious options

By annieb40 |

The portions are big-- easy to split. All the food is healthy and fresh, and they even have a vegan menu. The interior is fresh and cheerful too! And how nice to have easy parking right

Very Different from 2 years Ago

By TexasDuke2014 |

This place went from a 5 star to a 3 star restaurant over the past 2 years. Lots of tables, but we still had to wait with our vibrating disc. The place smelled bad, not real clean, and the food was below average. Our waiter was good, but that was about all the positives I have, except for the pancakes. We had breakfast and other than my blueberry pancake, it was not very good. The sausage is so spicy I couldn't eat it and the biscuits were so dense and gummy that they couldn't be saved with some pretty good gravy. I won't be back.

Organic home made food

By Joel M |

Tasty food. Nice family and friends seating and setting. Sandwiches and hamburgers were solid. Fries and other sides were filling and tasty. A little different, but that's Austin. Service was a bit lacking, but they were trying.

Food was just okay

By Deborah N |

So I remember their lamar location and thought i would give them a try again, the price and food have not changed. It was just okay. For the price i would have thought it would have been better, but no. and the attitude of the wait staff was unwarranted!!! C'mon, you have have over priced food.

Great food and dog friendly!!

By kseis |

Stopped in for brunch and specifically chose this place because we were traveling with our dogs. The food was really good!! We tried the beignet pancakes and they are haunting our dreams! Had 4 cups of coffee because it was so delicious (I've never had 4 cups of coffee at the same time). There were several people with their dogs so we didn't feel like crazy dog people. The service was also exceptional!

Great food and service

By cabowife |

The food here is very good and the service was better than average. They offer both vegan and gluten free options, which is wonderful. In addition, the vegan and gluten free options are delicious! Be sure to take a jacket or sweater with you because they keep the dining room (especially the back corner booth near the kitchen) like a deep freeze. If you don't have a jacket, you will NOT enjoy your meal because you will be too cold.

Fast service and good food at reasonable prices

By 1234texas |

This is a great "COSTCO Run" place to eat. The menu is a little limited, but all of it is good. They seem to be able to provide consistency in food and service despite what appears to be high turnover of servers. The tattoos & piercings of the servers can be a little bothersome, but it is part of the "hippy" culture of all the Kerbey Lane's. The salads are really great--healthy. Be certain to ask for the senior deals--the servers will not mention them.

Good Food and Service

By Jennifer B |

This was my first time to eat at a Kerbey Lane and I loved it. The menu had so much to choose from it was hard to make a decision. My son eats here all the time and loves it. We got Cowboy Queso and it was really good. I had the Kerbey Scramble and a shortstack of pancakes. The gingerbread pancakes are to die for! The service was excellent. We got right in even though we got there at high noon. We had to wait for my husband to get there but the waitress wasn't upset about us sitting there so long. I will definitely eat at Kerbey Lane again when I'm in Austin

Decent food and good prices

By dssrriri |

Don't know why people are complaining about portions and price - that seemed the best part of the deal here. Tasty food, portions and HUGE choice for vegans/vegetarian. Ask and try the fresh cut fries or sweet potato fries. The scrambled tofu was good. Seating is tight. We went at 1030 pm on a Friday, and it was busy nonstop. Helps that they are 24 hours Thu - Sun.

Local as you can get

By Oogiecatt |

Kerbey Lane is local favorite and we are very pleased to have one closer to us. We have been there many times, at very different times of the day, their selection, quality and wait staff are what keep us coming back. Once in a great while they miss the mark, but don't let that fool you, it was just a glitch. Keep going back, it is worth is.

Breakfast is yummy!

By MartyParty4 |

Our friends invited us to this restaurant with them as they raced about the freshness and quality. We were excited to try the breakfast dishes and they did not disappoint. We waited a bit for our table of 6 but other than that, the food was hot and fresh and service good. Thanks for the great meal! We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Disappointed Again

By rtmidland |

Ate at a different location a out 6 mo the ago. The food was not good. Fathers Day we tried again at the Wm Cannon address. First the waitress would not give us any straws?? Said they didn't have many and she was saving them for kids. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet. It was dry as a bone. I couldn't go d the cheese. The egg was hard. The ham (what little there was) was the only part that was edible. I left most of this on my plate. The black beans and potatoes were just average. Others got things that were just average. The poppyseed pancake tasted pretty good but very little glaze on top. Guess they were runni g low on that too. It also had no moisture or fluffiness though. They do have a patio and we had only about a 10 min wait. We didnt have a good experience. It's just as simple as that. I won't go back or recommend it.

Stay in this Lane

By John L |

This place is wonderful, immensely friendly with a unique menu for all tastes. Very veggie/vegan friendly. It's a cafe environment, lots of upbeat vibe, terrific staff. We were going to try another place the second night of our visit to Austin but decided to go back. Prices are very reasonable. Very cool Austin experience for all ages from kids to seniors, all welcomed like friends.

Good breakfast spot

By GVL605 |

Went to Kirby Lane last weekend, and again had a wonderful breakfast. They have outstanding, and very filling pancakes. There is always a wait - so just go with that in mind. But, the service is always outstanding, the food is great, and the prices are reasonable. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and will surely be back again some time soon.

Some New Things

By TallyHoHoHo |

We've had a love-hate relationship with the newer Kirby Lane on Willian Cannon the last few years.. Sometimes the food is great with good service and othertimes not so good. We haven't been back in six months, since our last three visits were in the not-so-good range. But wanting a good salad and not wanting to drive very far, we held our breaths and walked in the door. To our suprise, this was a good visit. Waiter was laid back and fairly attentive. Cobb salad was perfect. My fiance tried the new chicken fried chicken laiden with mac-n-cheese. It's not pretty looking, but it's pretty tasty. A little too spicy for me with the jalepenos. It looks like they've changed up their menu a bit, too with several new and interesting dishes beckoning to be tried. We'll hesitantly go back.

Don't forget your sweater!

By AusTexNatalie |

When we need a restaurant where everyone is guaranteed to find something on the menu to make them happy, that's when we come here. Someone always gets the migas which are very good. Someone usually gets a vegan or gluten-free pancake-of-the-day (you can't tell they aren't 'normal'). Someone gets a chicken salad of some kind and another will get a chicken sandwich, maybe the club, both are big enough for leftovers. The seasonal entree selection with buffalo or lamb is chosen by another or else the buffalo frito pie. The queso is hardy and the biscuits are top notch. We always have leftovers and never have room for dessert so after 30 years as a patron of various KLCs I still don't know how they taste. The coffee is good though. At the Southwest location, the large booths by the windows on the right are all under the AC vents and are ALWAYS chilly. So bring a sweater to better enjoy your meal. Thursdays are Kids Eat Free (off of the Kids Menu). Expect a wait if you're going at peak meal-times!

Still doing a good job setting standards for everyone else.

By RogerReady3 |

I have reviewed this before, so I will just stick to the basics. I got the southwest salad with grilled chicken ($10.95) it was ok, I wasn't sold on it and ended up having food envy of my wife's turkey and avocado sandwich ($8.95) one of their real standouts.

Always a first choice

By GSTX |

I meet friends at Kerby Lane about once a month and we always have great service, good food and a great price. They're always friendly and accommodating. This is always my first choice when dining out in SW Austin.

Just love the food here!

By Chrissie3dot |

I love the atmosphere, the staff and the food here. We usually spend my last night or breakfast at Kerby Lane and have done so for several years. The food is so good and the service excellent with a friendly smile and chat.

Best Breakfast in Town

By Chris T |

Great food, but is becoming too popular, sadly 30-45 minute waits are becoming the norm on weekends. None-the-less, the wait always seems to be worthwhile once the food actually arrives! Their selection of 'Benedicts" is always a winner.

Austin Style Food, See Why Austin is Weird

By Mike D |

Pancakes are there specialty, kids loved it. The queso is on the top of my daughters list here in Austin. Wife and I split the bacon/cheese burger, very large ...we were both satisfied. But come see the weirdest style dress and hairstyles...good for people watching if you have never been to Austin!

Saturday Breakfast

By TexasNurseMom35 |

Stopped in for a late breakfast last Saturday. Waited about 45 min for a table at 10:30 am. Guessing that's pretty average. Waitstaff was very nice. And I loved that they texted me when my table was ready. I had the Kirby scramble. It was good. Daughter had blueberry pancakes. They were huge and fluffy and she said they were great. Prices are fair. Around $25 for our total bill. Good atmosphere. Outdoor seating is an option. Would return.

Always a Great Breakfast

By zafarinfas |

Kerbey Lane is my go to whenever I want to have a traditional American breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, etc. This location on WM Cannon is my 2nd favorite of their locations all over Austin; their original location right on Kerbey Lane is my favorite. What I like most of all is their commitment to sourcing food from local quality vendors. Although I could get the same type of breakfast at Denny's or IHOP (and cheaper), I choose Kerbey Lane because of this commitment to quality food.

Yummy

Delicious food today. Some of our party had breakfast and others lunch. Served by a delightful cheerful, helpful and happy waitress. Shorter wait than usual.

Queso and pancakes? Yes please!!

By Daisy3421 |

Heard about this place so we went not sure what to expect. We had the queso and it was the best I’ve had!! Amazing!!! I could have eaten the whole bowl! I almost forgot to take a pic :0 I also had a single pancake - it was excellent as was the coffee. Wish we lived closer it was so good.

Good Food, Dubious Service

We stopped in at Kerbey Lane Cafe on William Cannon Drive for Sunday breakfast. No one was there to greet us so was seated ourselves and we were soon visited by a waiter with menus; we immediately placed our orders. When I got my coffee, I found lipstick on the mug and I returned it to the service area because I could not find our waiter. I soon found him and showed him the coffee mug; he apologized and said he would get me a fresh cup and would bring it to me. The next time we saw our waiter was when he brought us our orders; it was at that point he remembered I was waiting on a replacement coffee. My brother enjoyed the Kerbey Scramble and I found my order of Migas to be perfectly prepared. We were pleased with the food but not the service.

Wait time ridiculous.

The food and service is good, but the wait of 1.5 hours, after having been told to expect 40-60 minutes was very unpleasant.

Food is good but not the service

We have tried several locations as the food is good and you can get a good breakfast. The line to get in though is very long and generally is longer than they estimate.

Breakfast!

My husband and I frequent Kerby Lane on a regular basis for breakfast/brunch and have never been disappointed! The food is always A+, service is always perfect and we love the 50’s diner feel of the William Cannon location! Once my hubs and I had breakfast and both realized...I left my purse and him his wallet at HOME! The manager came over and comped our entire meal just like that...never expected that, but just made us love this place even more! Thank you Kerby Lane! I would give more than 5-stars if I could! Migas con queso w/ added sausage is the BEST!

This place was recommended by everyone we asked. I had a really hard time deciding what I wanted from the menu because everything sounded good. I decided to go with the red quinoa salad and was not disappointed. My husband got the biscuits and gravy which was also fantastic! If you go on the weekend, go early or you will have a 45-60 minute wait. It's worth it though!

Time your visit. Sometimes the wait is long. The food and service were exceptional. Gluten free options abound. We'll be back often.

Mac & Cheese Brisket - went back a second time

By Connie F |

We went here for a late night dinner. My son loved the Mac & Cheese Brisket and I had pancakes - which were great (can't go wrong with breakfast for dinner). We needed to grab a quick bite another time during our trip and came back because my son wanted the brisket again before we headed back to NJ. Food was good but service was slow both times. Polite and courteous, but slow. We are also from NJ and are used to diners, so this may be the norm for TX and it is our issue. LOL
