Be forewarned: it's loud! The music is so loud that the waitress has to lean in and speak loudly to communicate. And because of the volume, everyone at every other table is yelling at each other too. While the music makes it hard to talk, the beer menu is likely what brings people in. The beer menu is huge, with something for anyone enjoys beer. Food menu is limited and leans to Cajun. We enjoyed our oyster Po' Boy but not the Jambalaya, which was very dry with overcooked rice.

Not Vw beer selection. Very good menu and a really cool building. It was a nice afternoon and we sit outside.

It's fair to say that we selected this place based on the proximity to the hotel we were staying in. Very nice to see some ciders on the beer menu. It was very dark inside, being lit only by candles. We had to use the torches on our phones to read the menus. I 'get' mood lighting, but a little more light would have been good! Food was generally pretty good, without being exceptional - it was a little burnt in places, but nothing too bad. The cider I had was dry and probably the best I've yet found in my visits to the US. Friendly and attentive service was a real plus.

We went there on reviewers' advice and were pleasantly surprised. They had a long craft beer list, plus regular bar fare. They had a varied menu with some cajun foods, plenty of burger, sandwich, and BBQ choices. As a Southerner, I know some BBQ and ordered the brisket. It was sublime and tender enough to cut with my fork. It came without sauces, all sauces provided for self-applications from bottles. The portion was generous as were the sweet potato fried and onion rings. The basic appetizer nachos were loaded enough two people need not finish them to avoid ruining appetite for the meal. Service was very attentive and friendly. We walked in and sat right down early on Friday evening, but there was a line as we left. The outside is unassuming, but what they deliver is top shelf. Highly recommended.

We had a late lunch here on a Saturday and were very happy with the great menu and friendly service at this establishment. We have both vegans and carnivores in our party and we were all satisfied with our food. Portions are huge & the food is great!!! Beer selection is very good too. Definitely worth stopping by again when we're in the area.

Great service and tasty food. Little pricey but based on location you cant be surprised. They also have a great beer selection.

This place has been around as long as I can remember and has had several different personalities all of them cool with a relaxed and funky vibe. They currently serve Louisiana favorites which you can pair with an endless number of craft beers about which the servers are very knowledgeable. We went in just for drinks and snacks. The bacon grease popcorn paired with the fried green tomatoes really hit the spot. Those around us who were having brunch raved about their food as well. It's not fancy and it never was but if you want a place to hang out and eat well this is the spot.

The popcorn with bacon was pretty good and my husband liked his North Carolina style BBQ sandwich (the fries were yummy) .... but, the hamburger was BURNT to the point it was inedible. We told our waiter, and his reply was "when you order it medium well, that will happen". Perhaps you should have mentioned this when we ordered!!! Hard pass.

We happened to stay near by and the bar seemed very cool. We just went for drinks, but the food looked good. Lots of yummy beers on tap.

My husband and I went in to enjoy their happy hour and Benton's bacon grease popcorn. He and I love popcorn and had seen this tasty appetizer featured on a cheap eats article online. We thoroughly enjoyed the popcorn, and the frozen hurricane was a delicious happy hour surprise! We would definitely be back for the popcorn, and we would love to try other items on their menu in the future!

Best wings. Best Mac and Cheese. Best Po' boy's. Best pulled pork. Pretty much best everything. And the only place to go when you need to nurse that hangover :)

Buttermilk catfish served over a stew of black eyed peas, collard greens, country ham and Cajun spices topped with spicy tartar sauce. Off the CHAIN!

Food snob here. On a singular mission to prevent true foodies from being mislead by overly generous TA reviews. The pass pub has a great hole in the wall atmosphere and friendly staff. Looks like they have an incredible selection of beer, which we passed on in favor of cocktails. The drinks were okay, nothing special. The food is a miss. They're clearly hanging their hat on barbecue which was lousy. The brisket was fatty and without flavor. Sauces were served on the side in squeeze bottles. Sacrilege! Collard greens weren't good, Mac and cheese was grainy. Fried green tomatoes weren't any good and too spicy. It pains me to be so harsh, but we were mislead by the high TA ranking. Go here if you like beer or average pub food. True foodies should stay clear.

I had the best brisket I’ve ever tasted here. It was lip smackin’ amazing. The fries were on point too. The vibes were great here, a real hidden gem. Prices are cheap too. 2 meals and 2 pints were under 40 bucks!

We have been here many times however, this time I wanted to write a review to say how awesome it is every time! I have been here twice in 2 weeks with different friends of 7 or more. We had a great server each time! Food is always awesome! Sometimes you have to wait for a table for larger parties because it's smaller in there but it is totally worth the wait!!! My fiancé loves the pecan pie. We always get it as well as ordering pies for holidays and special occasions. Great selection of beers also! We will be back many more times.

Make this your 1st, 2nd, or last stop for a pub crawl. great bloody Mary, who knew you could pickle okra..yum. lunch was outstanding, great sandwiches, semi adventurous menu. would return. friendly staff, great music.

We stopped here for dinner on a recommendation. It’s fairly small but we were seated right away. The service was very good & the food delicious. I had a catfish po boy & my date had the homemade jambalaya. We would definitely go back.

Visited with husband and 2 kids after a day in the city. Great beer selection. Amazing craft beers and hard to find top picks. Sat in the back at a table to eat. Had bbq pork sandwich, Poboy, brisket and quesadillas. All were very tasty. Mac n cheese was very good as were the smoked cheddar fries. Service was good and Lively atmosphere.

Friday couples night out -- sure, we may have been the oldest people there but it was still great fun! Lovely hostess told us 45 minute wait for a table, and happily we found seats at the bar! Great selection of beers to choose from and we ended up only waiting 20 minutes for a table. Hubby ordered a ham and cheese Po-Boy that was outstanding. I think it was called the Sami. My friend and I ordered Vegan sausage sandwiches that were almost fantastic. Creole mayo, seitan sausage (not a fan, but was quite sausage-like) poblano peppers, but the best pickles on the sandwich. I want to go back and just order pickles and lettuce -- they were amazing! Even the hubby loved the pickles

I got immediately seated and placed my order. Initial service was great. After I got my food, my server forgot about me. I had to flag a bartender to get a drink after waiting over 10 minutes for my waiter. I had the Cajun Caesar salad, which was just ok. It could have done with half the amount of dressing. I guess that’s what I get for ordering a salad at a bar. The atmosphere is cool. Very rock-a-billy vibes from the staff and music.

Extensive beer menu, well explained by the menu list not by the waiter, food to forget … go elsewhere if you want to have a bite …

Close to our B&B. Pal had the pulled pork platter. She loved it. I had the fried green tomato BLT with a side of turnip greens. Also very good. Noisy, but its a pub. Table of 6 next to us was obnoxious and had potentially been "over-served."

I visited this bar twice when in Philly. All the staff are very good and manage really well serving people in such a busy place, you never have to wait long. Both times we visited it was packed!! The beers were very good but just a bit busy for me.

Came here on a recommendation, later night. Great waitress, long beer list. Dark, and loud. Kid had burger, loved it. Hubbie had pulled pork with fries and rings. He liked it. I had the bbq brisket sandwich with collard greens. While they were okay, I washed them down with three glasses of water as they were so salty. The sandwich was wet. Soaked through the bun. Nice (not) ribbons of fat through the meat. Took a few bites. Waste. If you want cajun food, fatty, greasy comfort food. This is your place. It wasnt mine. I left hungry.

We ate dinner at Khyber Pass. It had been recommended to us by a couple of people. It was a great local place with a cool ambience. I had the brisket with onion rings and collard greens. Was very good, although the greens not as good as what I am used to being from the south. My husband had a burger and he said it was delicious. We would definitely highly recommend it for a casual dinner.

Nothing makes me happier than stepping into Khyber Pass. Servers and bartenders remember you, even if you are less than a regular. The drinks are well poured and well priced. The food is simply prepared, delicious comfort food that never fails. Portions are huge ... expect to get at least three meals from the po-boy type sandwiches (the Sammy is my favorite). Starters are too good to pass up ... the fried green tomatoes are the best in the city. Save room for dessert, though.

The noise really hit me when we walked in and it did not quiet down at all. The table warbled and we stuck a napkin underneath the leg. It is super dark, dont worry about your makeup in here. Food was very good, drink was just ok, waitress very good. They did not rush us out at all and we could talk. Dont know if I would go back soon, but enjoyed it. Good prices, good portions.

We had heard about this place and when we asked the hotel staff about it they couldn’t say enough good things. Casual place with an easy, affordable menu. They are going for the dive bar feel and pull it off without it feeling grimy. We would go back.

Nachos with pulled pork are amazing! Been here 2 times and always get them!!!! Last time I also got the soft shelled crab po boy. Definitely would not get that again. However still give 5 stars because of the nachos, drinks, and bar experience!

This place, on the outside, is nothing to write home about, but once you are seated and have a great craft beer in hand, your first impression will change. The service was friendly and attentive. The beer selection incredible and the food delicious. Our server, Josh, took great care of us without hovering. My husband enjoyed what he states are the best wings he has ever had. (And he has had a LOT.) I had some of the best pulled pork that I have ever enjoyed. Three sauces were provided that were perfect additions to the already delicious meat. My husband ordered an IPA that he liked and I ordered a stout by the fun name having no idea that it would become my favorite. Beavertown Heavy Water Imperial Stout. Khyber Pass...we WILL be back!

I am not going to lie. I used to frequent the "Old Khyber" on a regular basis and did not want to come back when it was changed from a concert venue to a sit down restaurant. I remember all of the fun times I had there when I was a lot younger and could not accept that they had moved on. Once I got over that, I cannot get enough of their Vegan Fried Chicken Po Boy. I know it can't be good for me, but I would eat it all the time if I could. They also have a huge craft beer selection, which is pretty awesome too! I love me a good beer! I always eat at the bar, and the bartenders are great! I don't want to like the new Khyber, but I do.

They are making the best of a weird time, for sure. The place has a great vibe and a diverse menu. I wouldn't call is standard pub fare, but everything was tasty and had a little kick to it. The jambalaya more like a dirty rice, but the flavour and texture is amazing. Well worth it.

I came here for lunch during a conference break. It is a short walk from the hilton. The chicken ceasar salad was great. I also ordered the big biscuit which I loved. I would come back to try other items.

Atmosphere: dark, clubby, eclectic. Reminded me of Austin or San Francisco. Food: excellent food and most had some spice to it. Vegetarian options and big portions. Drinks- great beer selection and my sazerac was on point. Service: We didnt have to wait for anything but it wasnt overly friendly either. That may just be a big city thing. I would come here all the time if I lived close!

This was our first meal in Philly and it was great! The food was prepared exactly how we like it and the service was great.

If you like your drinks strong, your company young and your music loud, this is the place for you. The Near Eastern community turns out with big smiles.

The outside almost looks like a Harry Potter portal, with an ancient door, a narrow brick and slate exterior. A hopping place on a Saturday evening, the bar had an eclectic offering of beers. We ate dinner and wow, what great food! The onion rings were some of the best I've had, lighly battered with great seasoning. My son had brisket and bbq ribs and they were delicious, and a large serving. I had the oyster poboy, which was very good, excellent bread. This is a place you can come back to eat over and over with their homey southern choices that are perfect for cold weather.

A group of us popped in here for brunch and were pleasantly surprised! I would have never expected to find such delicious brunch in a pub. The prices were very reasonable and the service and food quality was amazing. Definitely have to try the beignets and the Cafe Au Lait. Amazing!! We will definitely be back!

After being stuck at the State Department all day and having some time to kill before the airport, we choose to have an early dinner here because of the others reviews and we were not disappointed! Located just across the street and around the corner from the State department. The staff was friendly and accommodating which you don't always find as a stranger walking into a neighborhood bar. The food was hot, fresh and really good with a menu that was pub food with an edge. I recommend the "big a$$ biscuit" as a side

Great pub serving New Orleans inspired food, gumbo, boudin balls, and the best fried oysters, all that and an amazing tap selection, one of my favorites in Philly.

We got a very unpleasant waiter. He messed up our orders (because he didnt think all of us wanted food?!) so one person got their food long after we had finished eating. Some of us never got to order anything to drink. And almost none of us was asked if they wanted refills. The waiter was very rude to us and never apologized for the bad service. The food was OK, but not that great. The restaurant was cosy, but not super nice. Will never come back.

Great bar food. Cool ambiance. Been said its haunted. Ghost sightings by staff. Built over the underground railroad. Great bar crowd/scene

This place always has the most delicious beers on tap. For food, their brunch is my favorite. Their service staff, especially Kelly, are super knowledgable and fun. Every time I've been here I've had a wonderful experience!

I was advised by a friend to have dinner here with the family, I walked in purely on the good word of mouth and based on the reviews I had read, I realized the food had to be good. we had a great server, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We order the khyber bacon burger (med), lets put it this way the burger kicks @$$! juice cut of meat, good ratio of fat to meat, the bacon was nice and crispy and the burger was truly a meal. for a table of 5ppl we decided we would share courses so as to get a taste of everything. We order the meat sampler with the bbq brisket and the bbq ribs, so if you are a lumber jack, this is the meal for you. For us regular folks, this plate cane be shared among 3ppl and I am not kidding either! one of the ladies on the table is vegan, so you may be asking right about now, why is she at this joint? well they actually have a bbq sandwhich, I did not try it but she was pleased with the flavors and the level of attention ot her vegetarian meal at this pub. We loved the brisket, nice and tender and the waiter warned us that the plate had to be shared as it was a gigantic portion of meat, fried okra and corn bread. we paired the meal with the green flash tangerine beer which was totally awesome!

Went here last night and had the pig popcorn and a PO-boy sandwich. I think it might be one of the best places in Old City.

Stopped in with friends for a drink. We were looking for a snack and the bartender suggested the popcorn. OMG, I still dream about that freakin' vegan popcorn. So delicious.

Some sites might have Khyber Pass Pub listed as a bar, but it has a full menu. We were seated quickly then ordered dinner and drinks. We shared the Cajun fries with our oyster po-boy and shrimp Caesar salad. Friendly staff, fun atmosphere.

Casual bar close to the Delaware river. Went by myself in evening while on a business trip. Had a burger that was way more done than I ordered. With that I wouldn't give more than three stars if it weren't for the big selection of seasonal beers and the very friendly staff.

We don't drink but came here for their vegetarian menu as my friend does not eat meat. There were many choices. Great character in this establishment that is about 150 years old. Many original details. Our server, Mikayla was so friendly and down to earth. We ordered Brussel sprouts, collard greens, sweet potato fries and pulled pork nachos. We wrapped most of the food to go as portions are generous. Tip: Order small size nachos, they are very filling. My only recommendation to the chef is to toss the pulled pork into a BBQ sauce to give it flavor. The pork itself was bland. We will definitely be back, this was one of our favorite restaurants in Philly. There is indoor and outdoor seating, very laid back casual atmosphere,

Well to be fair nachos isn't all...but we shared some as a starter and they were, to coin a phrase, awesome. Main courses excellent as well. Managed to get seated despite not booking but I'd think at a busier time of year you've have to book because this place is popular and I can see why.

Good New Orleans fare. Had beignets and Jambalaya. Wife had shrimp and grits. Cheese fries with gravy. Lots of Mac and cheese for the kids. Quick efficient service. Looked like a good choice at the bar too. Good place to take kids.

The exterior drew us into this place, it looks like the original exterior for whatever building this used to be. When you walk in it looks like it's just a bar but keep going and the hostess will seat you! The place has a speakeasy feel to it, great beer selection and more specials than there is food on the menu! Only downer was they were out of the appetizer I ordered and didn't tell me until much later :( It's a very cozy place and the staff seems very upbeat and attentive. This place does NOT have a gluten-free menu but has vegan and vegetarian options clearly marked on their menu. One of the friends we were with is gluten-free and could really only eat the chili. The waiter brought bread with it and when she was finished asked if she'd like him to box it up knowing full well she could not eat gluten -_- it was meant as a joke but he did not use a joking tone when asking. Overall a very great time with friends, GREAT FOOD (I was stuffed and I only had half a poboy and a side), and great beer selection. Highly recommended if you do not have specific dietary requirements outside of vegetarian/vegan.

Went last night with the wife after reading the reviews. So let me get into this review and give you the pros and cons. First, the staff starting from the hostess to the waitress had a great attitude Second, the wing sampler and cheese fries were good and my wife really enjoyed her fried tomato sandwich with an order of sweet potato fries. Third, the prices were not bad. Okay, now here are the negatives: The parking is not great, but street parking is cheap once you find a spot. Next, the noise level is extremely loud with everyone having to talk louder to be heard. Last thing was the seating. The tables were small and so close to other people that you didn't feel like you could talk about personal things or just relax because you don't feel like you have space between you and the other tables on each side of you. All in all the food was good and we may go back in the future.

Well, the place is not fancy by any stretch. However, I ate catfish for the first time at this establishment and is was delicious! Its open very late and the drinks are good!

After a full day walking the historic district, we were over-heated and exhausted. We found the Khyber Pass Pub, and although it looked like a hole in the wall, we decided to give it a try. Boy were we pleased we did! The beer selection is one of the best I've seen and my wife has continued to rave about her mint julep. The food was equally good. The pulled pork was excellent and, according to my daughter, the side of beans was the best she's had. The fried green tomato BLT was scrumptious and the brisket sandwich was fantastic! Our server was super cool and knowledgable and timed everything perfectly. Next time we visit Philly, we'll be sure to make a visit to this pub.

As we entered the Khyber Pass I didn't know what to expect. What type of food? Well, I was surprised they featured a Cajun southern style of cooking. I was a little skeptical given we were in old city Philadelphia. But it was pretty good. And I am from the south. Collard greens and pulled pork bbq, jambalaya, beignets, and more. It was a pleasant surprise. Don't let the modest outside fool you as it did me. The food is good.

Cajun food in Phily, who knew. We went to KP for lunch and were very surprised by the food. We started with beignets which were the real deal. Their jambalaya was also very good. Finally, they have a great beer selection.

Loved the exterior look of this little pub but the inside was just ok. Dark with Christmas type lights and so loud you could barely hear the person in front of you. Very large food portion. We shared the two meat sampler (pulled pork and brisket) with two sides (onion rings and cheese fries). The two of us couldn't finish it...an excessive amount of meat! Everything tasted good and the service was quick and friendly.

We had no idea that the casual pub had such good food....and the cocktails were good as well. The menu focuses on southern, cajun dishes. I was in a group of 6 and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections from ribs, to catfish and trout. The side dishes were good as well - southern succotash, macaroni and cheese and sweet potato fries. I look forward to a return visit.

This place was highly rated on Foursquare for 'regular' food so wasn't sure what I was getting myself into when looking for vegan food. Boy as I surprised! All options were clearly marked and there were plenty of items to choose from. To top it off my meal was delicious. Would highly recommend!

Everything we had was tasty. They have an unusual menu so can accommodate pretty much everyone. From pork to vegan, they had something. We started with the Mac and, which was good. One of had the poboy of the month which was the Philly cheese steak. Very good. The basket if fries were fresh cut and really good and enough to feed 3 or 4 people. The Cole slaw was ok, not horseradishy or creamy. The bananas foster custard was good ... creamy and spicy. The service was excellent.

I liked the vibe of the place from the start and all four of us had a nice evening. I ordered the roast beef po boy which was a mushy, sloppy, soggy mess that was lacking in flavor. Total fail. BUT...I’m happy to report that the macaroni and cheese side saved the day. I am a lifelong lover of mac and cheese descended from a long line of macaroni and cheese lovers and I absolutely loved it and give it 5 out of 5 stars!!! It was perfect. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had a good time here, but I’m not going to come rushing back any time soon.

my coworker found this place online when we were rushed and looking for a place to have lunch before checking out of the hotel and flying home. he's a foodie type so I went with it. First impressions were "this is a place to drink vodka at noon on a Tuesday not eat lunch" but boy was I wrong. All the staff was super friendly from the start and there is a large dining area to the side. Menu is heavily southern influenced and not inexpensive, but it was worth it. We all ordered water and didn't get any static about it from the server (they have a huge craft beer selection- perhaps for another day). I had the fried shrimp po' boy with onion rings and it was GREAT. Nice fresh tasty sandwich and the onion rings were not your usual bar food but fresh and handmade and tasted like they were made with tempura batter. Very light. My coworkers had the BBQ chicken (served with three options of sauce- in squeeze bottles to use as you like) and the pulled pork sandwich. Both said it was excellent. Music is loud and the atmosphere is dive-bar-ish so don't go if you want quiet and romantic, but I thought it was great food. I'd go back again.

When we walked into the bar it smelled awful. The food was just average and the bathrooms are awful - old, run down and did not feel real clean. Alot of potential for improvement here.

Great sandwich. It is a wet style brisket as opposed to Texas style. It is everything you want it to be. I got the side of cheesy grits and I had a happy tummy. Great beer selection.

We were back in the city and once again stopped here and the food was still amazing and plentiful!! Portions are large, the waitstaff is friendly and we had a great experience again. We will stop here again when we come back to the city for a visit. Good selection of food and beer/bar menu. Great location as well!

I heard about this restaurant months ago and yesterday, I left the suburbs to meet out-of-town friends and try this spot. When we got seated a woman was scraping a plate clean. I leaned over and asked her what was good and she told me the sausage & biscuits was to die for. While we studied the menu we put an order in for that dish. I don't know what kind of sausage was used and there were chunks of yummy meat with a light gravy on two huge flaky biscuits. My exceptional entree included fried catfish with sides of collard greens and macaroni and cheese. I really was not expecting to fall in love, and when I ordered corn bread, I could have hugged our waiter. He was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Everything he suggested was of superior quality including the hurricane. This afternoon I ate leftovers and they were as delicious as the day before. Don't be intimidated by the casual bar/restaurant. I will be back and I hope to time my visit the next time to enjoy the Sunday brunch. Mmmmm mother's day?

We came in for a cool beer on a hot day and didn’t regret it. Mufaletta was huge and yummy. Beer selection is diverse and environment was welcoming.

Small pub / dive bar in the heart of the old city. Great cajun food and a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend checking it out!

We got there by surprise because we were looking for a quick lunch - and were very surprised. A very broad variety of crafted berrd from around the world. Friendly staff. And very good typical bar food. We had the spinach salad, NC pulled porc and really great pan cakes. Atmosphere as you like it when going to an irish pub.

We're playing tourist, including stopping in at the new Museum of the American Revolution. A friend steered us clear of any tourist places that sell sub-standard, price inflated cheese steaks. Instead, we're hitting a pub that has great beer. Khyber Pass is around the corner from the museum. For food, it's a Louisiana inspired menu. The food is very good, a slight cut above than typical pub fair with a lot of creative choices. The ambiance is rustic. As for the name, it's traditional. Khyber Pass has nothing to do with the food or beer.

In the heart of Old City, this eatery is on restaurant row. Varied casual americana restaurant. Didn't have a Philly cheesesteak on the menu! Average in price, quality, and service. Will meet you needs if you are hungry, but nothing spectacular.

Our tour guide Alex (Te architect) told us about this Pub, delicious food, the po Boy and the jambalaya was just delicious! Taren wen even far on made uf feel comfortable!

Loved it hear. went with my wife's family for an earlier dinner. Staff were super helpful and friendly and it was busy. We all had a great time and I would certainly go back there when in Philly. Incidentally this place has been around a long time and my father in-law used to go there back in the 70's (cannot vouch that still have the same owners as back then). A great stop for quality brews and some inventive casual food.

Return visit because I had a good experience the first time when I was in Philly. Had the popcorn opened in bacon grease. Really good, even though you feel your arteries hardening as you eat it. Got one of the nightly specials which was Jumbalya which was not great. First the temperature of the dish was lukewarm at best, although admittedly I didn't ask for them to heat it up. Just seeemd like it was sitting since the dinner rush hour so I got it, taste was adequate and I have had much better. Bartender service was good and attentive. Beer menu is interesting. Doubt I will return next time.

We stopped by for a quick lunch--what a let down! I had the Cajun Cesar which was served warm... Not grilled, just tepid. The iced tea had no ice and the service was slow. There are many better options in the area!

I didn't expect to find New Orleans food at a place called Khyber Pass. Stopped in here while touring the area with our family of four and had a great experience. Our server was friendly and helpful. Started with Beignets which matched my Cafe duMonde experiences. We sampled shrimp & grits, sausage gravy, brisket, and french toast - all were excellent and inexpensive. The building is interesting, uneven wood floors and bar.

In for a late breakfast and a great Bloody Mary. Tough place for any type of conversation, the noise is crushing. But the service is still great and the food is always interesting. Try the Banana fosters and Breakfast # 5. The Khyber has been around forever, and should not be missed. Forget the noise and enjoy the experience.

Wife and I came in here in February 2017 for a couple of beers and some nachos. We're talkative as hell so engaged the barkeep in some good conversation. Friendly guy who watched over us and made sure we left full and tipsy. A very cool, historical little place worth the price of a few beers.

Outstanding beer selection with knowledgable, friendly, and attentive staff. Solid regular menu (Gumbo, several Po'-Boys, Muffuletta, BBQ, etc.) with ample selection off the Daily Specials board with a distinctly Louisiana flair. We ordered chicken and rice soup (very meaty and delicious), fried okra, Catfish Po-Boy, and a mixed greens salad with grilled chicken (hearty portion, lots of chicken). Unique and comfortable atmosphere. Good food. Attentive bartenders. A catfish Po' Boy under the romantic dim lighting of the antique Afghan camel-skin lamps--a winner!

They seem to have a vague New Orleans theme going on, with beignets, cajun bloody Marys, etc... My bloody may was very yummy...fries were good, and the hot wings...well, they may very well be some of the hottest wings I've ever sampled! We were a large work group, and very demanding...the staff handled things well, and amiably, for the most part. Could have been much more unruly.

I spent many many nights at the Khyber when it was a divey music venue. I miss those days so much! When I heard it was going to be a restaurant from now on I was cranky and skeptical. But I have to say, they did it right. The food is fantastic southern style bar food and reasonably priced (mostly. $17 for a shrimp po boy is where I draw the line). THeir beer list is extensive. Works for family, friends, and dates. Their brunch is awesome. And - they've preserved a lot of the old look/feel of the bar area. So yeah - we lost a great venue, but for once the outcome is just as good.

Very cool vibe. Friendly service. Top quality food (vegan pork nachos were amazing). Highly recommend.

We stopped there after dessert at Franklin Fountain. We were seated immediately. Our server hustled over and got our drink orders. It was so dark, I struggled to read the menu. (The people at the next table ended up lighting their menus with their cellphones.) I had the brisket sandwich which has very good and a side of tasty baked beans. My wife had po'boy, very good, and mac and cheese, not so much. We were in and out very quickly. I think they focus on fast turnover for the tables that aren't drinking.

Good food, great beer, awesome fun wait staff. Fun ambiance, food was good, satisfying but not great. I would definitely recommend this place.

We try to eat healthy but every once in a while you have to splurge. Khyber sandwiches are outstandingly good!

I had the pulled pork sandwich which was amazing tried a local beer that was recommended by the waiter and was nice to. Would recommend this place only has maybe 25 seats so nice and small.

I visited Khyber Pass Pub for a break from the heat while exploring Philadelphia for the weekend. The staff were very friendly and helpful, with the bartender providing great recommendations both for food to order, and local beers to try. They had several different styles of beer, which was nice. We only had appetizers, but they were tasty, with the bacon grease popcorn being particularly good.

This place was pointed out to us by a beer and southern food loving bearded hipster. He commented that their type of food is what he knew and it is awesome, he was not wrong. We had hearty mac and cheese, with a delightfully crispy top, a spicy brisket chilli special and some juicy fried chicken. Everything was excellent. If I had one minute improvement it would be a little more seasoning on the southern fried coating. Well worth a visit if only for their beer list. What ever you do pop in for some fried to try their 3 incredible bbq sauces.

I've been living in and around Philly all my life. This is hands down one of my favorite spots. If I didn't live in the area, I'd still come down to Old City just for the wings, BQQ sandwiches and the Mac and Cheese. If I ever leave, I'll probably miss this place the most. P.S. This is the best place for a hangover cure. It's dark as hell in here :)

Had some lovely brisket and pulled pork here. Excellent range of beers and drinks. Really enjoyed it and wouldn't hesitate to return in the future.

Some of the best I've had. Great atmosphere and affordable, messy and delicious barbecue that makes you want to go back for seconds. Strongly recommend.

Vegetarian/vegan pub food?! Yes, please! At a recent conference trip to Philly, my friend and I stopped in this pub for three meals--two lunches and one dinner. I had seitan empanadas (special), vegan pulled pork sandwich, and seitan sausage and peppers sandwich. The empanadas were so impressive and packed with flavor. The pulled pork was messy and gooey and sticky. Just like BBQ is supposed to be. All-in-all, we really enjoyed our meals there as made obvious by multiple trips in the same week. If I make it back to Philly, I'll definitely visit Khyber Pass Pub again.

Holy moly, the food is amazing and they make a mean old-fashioned. Definitely give the fried green tomatoes and po’ boys a go!! They always have classic movies playing in the background.

This place looks crazy on the outsude, but I promise the food is amazing! That damn popcorn have me my life. The wings are perfect and the fried green tomatoes are to die for. I went back the next day just for the popcorn. You won't regret it.

Stopped in the Khyber Pass to kill some time before appointment. I'm glad we did. You can tell it's got a lot of history. Our server was very friendly and answered every question we had. I had the boudin with eggs and cheesy grits. The boudin was delicious. My brother-in-law had the catfish plate with collard greens and mac & cheese. He said it was delicious also. If you are in the area, check Khyber Pass

We were leaving independence hall and we're looking for a bite to eat and noticed this on yelp. It is a few blocks away and is very small but it was great. The feel was very edgy and the food was outstanding. One of the best Mac N Cheese I have ever had as well as the Po Boy. Everyone in my group enjoyed their meal. The prices were very reasonable and the service was great. I would definitely return next time I'm in Philly.

This is a great little place in the Old City section. Good comfort food. Was recommended by the innkeeper at the B&B we stayed at. Was glad we ate there.

There is nothing fancy about this place. Rough exterior and dingy interior. We tried it anyway and were surprised with a good meal. Our party had the Kyber burger, the brisket sandwich and breakfast #5 (eggs, bacon and hash browns). Everyone enjoyed what they had. This is a good burger joint and a good place for breakfast. If you order the brisket, make sure you are hungry! It was the biggest of the three meals.

Love this place! Have visited many times and enjoy the casual, slightly dingy atmosphere and the ever-changing beer selection. They always have a range of truly excellent beers, often including great imports. The food is southern with a healthy NOLA influence. Everything we have had there has been good and the gumbo was excellent. Friendly staff, good prices, and a great location. What's not to like?

Great menu, for carnivores and vegetarians alike. It was late, so I only ate the fried okra, but it was fantastic (not all mushy like most fried okra gets). Highly recommend their whiskey sours, too. Good music, very dim lighting...just relaxing! The A/C was out when I was there, so that was a bit uncomfortable, but the server brought us a fan to cool us off. Highly recommend if you're looking to just chill out after a long day of travel.

Great food here. Many vegan options such as chili, nachos, pulled “pork”, “sausage, and I had the vegan fried chicken po boy with collard greens. Everything was very flavorful.

After our concert we needed to find something to eat. It was approaching 1am and most of the places near our hotel were closing. It looked like pizza for us yet again when we stumbled across this tasty little place, and thank goodness we did. We had the jambalaya and it was delicious. Our friends had onion rings, pulled pork, beef brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. Everyone was very happy with their food especially when you factor in how late it was. I'd like to go back and try their gumbo sometime.

First time in Philly just walking and saw this tiny brick building on 2nd St. reminder me of someplace over the pond! Just had to stop in. Small place but a HUGE beer selection! Glad I stopped.

Located in the Old City section, this would probably qualify as a "little-hole-in-the-wall." Definitely a local secret, the pub was recommended by two separate inn keepers and a fellow guest at our B&B. I'd recommend the Khyber Burger (comes with fries); my husband enjoyed a pork sandwich. Happy Hour is 4 - 6p; there's a large drink menu. A little noisy; this pub is super busy, but well worth a visit.

This is what you are looking for in a dive bar great service low lights and amazing draft beer menu!! I didn't try the food the the guys next me said the pulled pork was great.

The reviews promised lots… the menu on Trip Advisor promised exactly what we were looking for… good Southern food. Boy were we disappointed. There was little beyond sandwiches on the menu… burgers and po boys. No shrimps, no steaks, no chicken (except in the sandwiches) We had 2 burgers (one Kyber and one chicken ) fries and onion rings due to the limited options… both were greasy, overcooked and just poor….awful experience. Don’t go if you’re looking for decent Southern food. I’ve rarely - if ever - had worse pub grub on a review of 4 plus. Only saving grace was the staff were friendly and efficient… they don’t cook the food after all!!. So disappointed.

Fantastic old bar in Old City, offering a great selection of Cajun food and beers on tap. Best po boys this side of the big easy, not to mention greens and hush puppies. Don't forget the mac and cheese.

We didn't eat here but this place was recommended to us by a tour guide, beer was good. Bar tender suggested some local PA beer which was just what we needed. A great little bar in a nice area, not much table seating other than at the bar but I think there was a separate dining room too.

Found this place late one evening when we were driving in from New Jersey. We were hungry and cranky and in need of food. It was about 1230 so we were concerned that we wouldn't find anywhere with an open kitchen. The server was very friendly and accommodating. We had a delicious meal! The was so good in fact that during our 3 day visit we ate here twice more! Only problem here is trying to decide what you should eat because all the options sound amazing! Would definetly visit here if we were in Philly again!

We love ethnic food and this hit the mark. We shared meat "turnovers" for an appetizer. My husband had meat dumplings w/a meat sauce. I had a lamb dish that was covered with a sweet saffron rice, orange peel and slivered almonds that was out of this world. If your tastes are simpler they have shish kababs. Definitely a high point on our trip

Years ago this restaurant was a haven for live punk bands, both local and national. I saw many bands here, and it was a great place to see live music. Years go by, I get married and it's been countless years since I been inside. No longer do they offer live music. So I recently had to attend a business meeting a block away and came out wanting lunch, so I figured I'd see what's become of my old haunt. The ambience I remember still remains, although there were now tables where once there were drums and mic stands. The bar is as I remember it, a wide array of beer selections with a bohemian and eclectic crowd. One thing we always loved was the jukebox and the diverse selections it had, sorry mainstream but no Britney Spears here, it's an all cd jukebox with all sorts of punk, and local selections. Gotta love how it maintained its roots through the years. Despite the great ambiance and the punk feel, the star of this show was the food. I had jambalaya and etouffe, and it was heavenly. So hard to get good Cajun outside of New Orleans, but I'll tell it's right here in Olde City. The service was decent, not great but not horrible either. I'm so happy with how my dive bar from my younger years has grown into a phenomenal restaurant with great food and beer selection, that can compete with some of the top name restaurants around. I can't wait to get back there!

Visited with some local friends. I am not a beer connoisseur but I was blown away by the taste of some of the craft beers especially the stout. Service was good and efficient. I would highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and ribs at this place

Hungry and tired, we chose this place because it was convenient. The food options have zero to do with the Khyber Pass region and more to do with the pub portion of the name. The choices are limited, but “elevated” above pub fare. The melding of flavors in my Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was nothing short of amazing. The bun was one of those brioche fall apart kind, but I didn’t want any more bread than was necessary. Exceptional sandwich. Also got rave reviews for the Khyber burger and the kids Mac n cheese. Varied draft beer menu allowed us to sample a few new things. Service was mostly attentive. Onion rings were only so so. Exceeded my expectations.

The food and service are good. Some unique choices, and comfort food. Also had an excellent Spinach Salad. Nice beer selection too!

We went for lunch. Our Server was quite attentive without being hovering. I ordered the BBQ Meat Sampler. Unfortunately the Brisket wasn't available until dinner. The ribs & pulled pork were tasty but chewy. Nice size portions & reasonable prices. Too full so I took the cornbread home. The next day it was like a brick so I fed the garbage disposal. I would go back!

My wife and I walked in and received a nice greeting from the bartender offering seats at the bar and pointing the way to the dining room. We sat down and our server put water and menus in front of us within moments. After a few questions to the helpful server I ordered a beer that suited my taste and my wife and I ordered lunch. I had the Khyber burger with onion rings, it was cooked perfectly with a blend of flavors between the burger, bacon and onions leaving me very satisfied. My wife enjoyed the roast beef Po'boy along with the fries. From the atmosphere to the servers to the great food it was a nice experience and I look forward to returning.

A great intimate bar and grill with excellent music. The atmosphere was perfect for relaxing, enjoying a drink and good company. The food was above average and the service was excellent. Many thanks to Chelsea for her patience and understanding - great customer service and an asset to the property.

Fun pub in a historic building with a bit of an edge for ambiance boarding on being a total dive. Don't be afraid to try it. The food was excellent with a southern twist, the service was goo and the drinks were amazing and strong. Make sure to try the Cajun popcorn.

...and the "dive" first impression ( which it is) to find out a very nice menu and well prepared foods! We stopped for a quick bite and a drink and Khyber delivered on both counts. A great beer selection complimented a nice smoked beef chili. Great food can be found everywhere and Khyber is one of those pleasant surprises.

The Khyber Pass in my 20's was a sort of dive bar with wonderful music. The actual physical bar at the Khyber Pass is amazingly old. This visit now in my 50's, the Khyber pass was even better it has great craft beer choices and still a wonderful place to go.

Stumbled on this place by chance. Ticks so many boxes: interesting and good value food, with a lot of attention to allergens etc.; fantastic beer menu, and in Yards ESA a wonderful strong ale on handguns. Best beer of our entire East Coast trip. Eclectic music and great service. I hope I get the chance to go back. Thank you!

We went for an early dinner. The place does not have much atmosphere, but the food is excellent and the beer list extensive. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. They were both outstanding. The rest of the group had great meals also.

Good food with a "New Orleans" flair. We shared appetizers and there was more than enough food.Great selection of microbrews and a cask beer selection.

This place has creole-style soul food that should not be missed. There are also a number of vegetarian/vegan options (if that is your thing) and the kitchen has worked with me in the past to ensure guests with celiac disease had gluten free meals. The pulled pork nachos are incredible, whether with faux meat or real pork. If you do eat meat, the bacon grease popcorn is an appetizer not to be missed. Other favorites include the macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries, po' boy sandwiches, and brisket. The only food I've ever ordered here and not loved were the fried green tomatoes. As for beverages, Kyber Pass has some of the best draft beer selections in the city. Also their frozen mint juleps are not to be missed in the summer time. The servers are friendly even if service is not always the speediest here--but this isn't the kind of place I'd visit while in a hurry anyway. The food and drinks are designed to be lingered over.

I stopped here for lunch the other day. They had an extensive beer menu with some great variety. The menu had the type of bar fare to be expected. I ordered a bbq brisket sandwich with coleslaw and baked beans on the side. The service was great and the bartender was on point. The food doesn’t match the quality of the staff. The sandwich was fare, the coleslaw left much to be desired and the baked beans tasted like they came straight out of Bush’s can. The cost of the meal was 34 bucks which includes one beer and one wine. Nice atmosphere but I wouldn’t recommend going there for lunch. The upside of the meal was how fast it was prepared. I don’t think I was there for 15mins before my meal was presented.

We were a party of eight visiting for dinner. The food was ok, but we were not happy with the service. It started with demand for passport to get a beer. Recommendations from national authorities is that you shall be careful with your passport, so we normally don't carry this around. International driving licence and photo copy og passport did not work. The waiter did mess up our orders, and one person in our group did not get food. We got no apologies form him after this. I of course hope this was a one time experience, but who knows...

Pub food fare was ok. High price for the quality. Service was good. Place was empty at 1:00, which is telling, and dark. I would not go back again.

If you get lucky and the chicken and rice soup is on the menu that day, you will be so happy! The other food here is good, and they have good selection of beers, but that chicken and rice soup is worth the trip to Philadelphia all by itself! Also, the staff here is really pleasant and helpful!

I recently returned to the Kyber Pass and the food is amazing. This former rock club/ dive bar with an amazing jukebox just keeps putting out great food and at a very reasonable price. The jambalaya is so good I got a take out after my meal so I had a back up just in case... Their brunch is also very good and you can order a single pancake which is a treat if you want something sweet, but not too heavy to go along with the rest of your meal. I also tried the barbecued chicken also, really good and cheap. The cornbread is great and the collard greens were spicy. it is a great place to go, however it is not fancy and I can only go with a certain group of friends as some of my fancier friends are not excited to have the dining experience.

My wife and I went to Khyber Pass for dinner one evening. We had been on a run of evaluating fried chicken in local restaurants. She got the brisket mashed potatoes and coleslaw and called it the best brisket she has ever had. That experience includes three different, well known places in Memphis. My fried chicken was excellent. The skin was slightly too crisp and firm but the meat was moist tender and delicious. It compares very favorably to others in the area. They have a wide range of draft and bottled beers, both local and imported. The atmosphere is very pub like. Everyone is welcome.

Not your typical bar food. Lots of bar-b-que and... Vegan options? Crazy, but it works. We had the BBQ sampler and their take on a BLT. Just out-damn-standing food and very good beer options...and reasonably priced!! Will go here again, hopefully soon

Needed a place for a drink and quick bite before the QOTSA / Royal Blood show. I've been here before and always have had a good experience. The gumbo is awesome as are the " balls". Good beer selections including casks, a hip vibe for a younger crowd and overall good food, service, drink and fun.

Really friendly pub with a great selection of beers. Menus looked good and had some interesting items. Serving was way too big and that actually detracted from the meal could have been 50% smaller. Ribs tasted great

Deciding what to have was difficult, but eventually settled on hot chicken styled after Nashville, TN. It was hattie B's hot. Instead of white bread, a biscuit dough waffle. That part did not impress me like the chicken did. The pulled pork platter was a bit too much for my wife for lunch.

Went there for lunch and a drink for a break from sightseeing. The place has a great atmosphere and really has a 'pub' feel. They have a great selection of beers and the food was pretty good, too (I remember the po'boys and devilled eggs being particularly nice).

This place has no curb appeal but the food is fantastic. It has the best gumbo which is more like a beef stew. We also had the jambalaya which was also very good. We also tried the Half Acre Tuna & the Bruery Mash & Coconut beer (13.1%). The portions are very adequate and the price is very reasonable. It’s very dark inside and looks like something out of Harry Potter but you will not be disappointed.

Ate lunch here with a vegetarian companion. Lots of variety and options for all types of diets. I had the grits and they were very delicious. One of my companions had the vegan bbq pulled pork sandwich and gave it two resounding thumbs up. The other had a salad with fried chicken on top. Looked fantastic. I will definitely return on my next visit to Philadelphia.

Fabulous beer selection says hubby. Sazerac was ok Jumbo soup was a hit, along with the mac and cheese side. Collard Greens side was a miss with not a lot of flavor and a strange ketchupy taste. Rice and beens side delicious Coleslaw nothing to write home about. Fried catfish was greasy and a C at best. We've been a few times and had better grub. Lots of vegan and veggie options, along with tons of meat choices.

I had the vegan fried chicken po'boy and it was incredible. The batter was delightful. I could have eaten another whole sandwich. My partner had the catfish po'boy and was also impressed. We also had salads that were a nice complement. They are mostly a bar and have lots of draft beer options. The restaurant side was really busy but our food came out quickly and our waiter checked on us often. It was a fun place and I would definitely go back to try the other vegetarian dishes!

We love to try micro and regional brews, this establishment does not disappoint. Is an eclectic pub menu, so bring your adventure some tastebuds. Not too outrageous, just different and delicious.

I came here with a friend for dinner. I ordered 2 specials, vegan chili and fried okra. Both were very tasty. My friend also liked her vegan sausage sandwich and baked mac and cheese. I've tried the vegan coleslaw before, so I know that's also good. Our server was very nice and the food came pretty quick. Good experience.

Great bar – went there two nights. They had a great, ever-changing selection of beer and actually shockingly good and affordable food.

Stopped in here to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks with some friends. I have to say that I really enjoyed my brief visit. We had already eaten, but I think when I come back (which is definite), I will plan to spend more time here so that I can try some of the food.

Every bite was an explosion in our mouths !!! Their BBQ sauces were the best I ever had. Such flavor. The meat melted in our mouth. Our waiter was very nice and explained things with ease. Our drinks were never empty. The environment is cozy. I would recommend this to anyone in Philly!! The prices were appropriate. I was so happy our tour guide suggested this place.

Four of us had lunch and beer here. The service was good. Two of us had small salads that were excellent and one had a meatball special and one had another sandwich. We all enjoyed our food. It can be noisy. The bar was also interesting.

Its narrow, dark and old. This is in every way it's perfect identity, and the draft list is great. We didn't have any issues with it being too loud, and the draft list is great. The service was prompt, with clean taps and glassware. We didn't eat there, but the food that we saw go past looked and smelled great.

I'm at Khyber almost weekly. Love the atmosphere, great beer selection with some real gems, cool staff and friendly bartenders, typically knowledgeable as well. Food is great, and almost always filling; price is in line with other southern cooking/bbq places. Food is on the greasy/rich side as well, which I'd love to see some healthier options in place of (without a stick of butter on my burger bun please.) Full bar here, but craft beer focused. The bar is tightly packed with chairs, which make it a challenge at night when the bar is full to even get into an empty seat. Lunch is usually chill and mellow, though they don't serve the brisket then. Usually a movie playing from TNT/USA type networks on the screens, muted. Good blues/delta blues can usually be heard playing.

Their brisket and brisket sandwich is the best I've ever tasted! I also love the po boy sandwiches, mac 'n cheese, mashed potatoes and basically everything on the menu. Prices are reasonable and they have a full bar. People go just for the mint juleps too! I highly recommend. It gets filled up fast so go early if you want dinner on a Saturday.

Came here for dinner with coworkers and prospects during the Craft Brewers Conference - it was great! Very busy and a bit loud, but we expected that. The BBQ was good (though I am still trying to figure out what Vegan BBQ Pulled Pork is) and the beer was better...they had a great selection on tap. Definitely a fun place for a big group, though you might not be able to hear everyone!

We went in strictly because of the outside look....it looked like a tiny stone house smashed in the middle of bigger buildings. They hv unique choices to the menu with some old favorites like pulled pork and Mac n cheese which was divine. Had a lot of vegetarian choices. Dimly lit. Clean. Wait staff were friendly.

Having been to Philly a decent amount of times, I think Khyber Pass Pub is the only place I've visited 3 times or more. It is a very cool place, really captures the "Old City" neighborhood feel in a dark, tavern kind of way. The beer list is phenomenal, probably the best of any place I've been in Philly. They also have Southern/New Orleans style food which is really good. Highly recommended.

Came here twice during a weekend trip to Philadelphia. It wasn't overly crowed for Friday/Saturday nights, and the service, beer, and snacks were all good! Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options too.

Came here for lunch on a Friday. Don't be fooled by the outside décor - it's a great place for a weekday lunch! What other pub has this many delicious vegan options? I got the VEGAN bbq pulled pork sandwich, which was really good on it's own. BUT it also came with a side, and I of course went with the baked mac N cheese, which was also great. Service was a little slow, and it did take some time for our food to come out (hence the 4 stars), but the food made it worth the wait.

We popped in here on the first evening of our 2 day visit to Philly and enjoyed it so much we went back the following night. A great atmosphere, good quality and quantity of food with a great selection of craft beers. America have come on leaps and bounds in their brewing game and have moved on from the gassy, tasteless Budweiser type rubbish to a great quality of eclectic types of beer. Try the Mr Strawberry if you visit. It is super sour but in a brilliant way and completely moreish. Mother staff are very efficient and friendly and the whole place is welcoming. At first glance you may think it's a hip place for the young uns but it's very inclusive and very well worth a visit....although you may find you want to stay longer than you expected, with all the beers to try!

This is a nice place adjacent to the historic district. Great beers, good food. Great location. Nice ambience inside.

Bacon Grease Cajun Popcorn. Need I say more? It was hands down, the best popcorn I've ever had. After that appetizer, I knew we were in for a treat here. You may pass it on the street, as it isn't a flashy storefront, but GO IN! My husband and I shared a BBQ pork and chicken dinner with the mac and cheese and a "big a** biscuit". Everything was so tasty....best BBQ chicken I have ever had. The housemade sauces are also amazing; I preferred the tomato based and my husband liked the mustard-based sauce. Two thumbs up!

It was a fun old historic building. My expectations were low (as we were there for the historic building) but it was the best meal of the trip. Beer menu was vast and food was delicious.

We are in town for a Lacrosse tourney and were wondering around town, looking at the historical sites. I did a Nearby on TA and found this place. Very happy that we did. This place is the real deal on pubs. The look and feel is perfect. While they did not have the brisket (two of us were going to order it), the pulled pork and chicken combo were excellent. The baked beans were good, not great and the mashed potatoes were not, but the were quite good anyway (they are not really mashed, just slapped around a little). They have some excellent craft beers, and since we are from Western Michigan, we know beer. It isn't that they have a huge list like I am used to, but it is comprehensive in types. The service is efficient and friendly. The prices are what you would expect, maybe even lower. We really loved this place.

We stopped in for drinks during beer week. Awesome selection of craft beers that you don't normally see around the Philly area!! I had a habanero IPA great taste with a kick of heat after you drink it .My wife had cider that she liked, she cant remember the name We didn't have food but the menu looked tasty! It seemed to be our kind of place with friendly folks that you could hang out all night in. Very casual No reservations needed

Once we were done with the Liberty Bell we wanted to wonder around the city some more and find a nice pub to relax in, have a drink and plan the rest of our night. We were told about Khyber Pass and made it a point to find it. So, so worth it. It is, I believe, the oldest bar in downtown Philly (?). They have an extensive craft beer, and cider list. The music was great, if you're into dark 80-90's indie, alternative and new wave. I was in heaven. But, the best was yet to come! Bacon grease popcorn was AMAZING! I have tried to remake this at home and I wasn't successful, so I think I need to go back. There is a restaurant on site, but we didn't dine in, just drinks and popcorn.

I am giving a good review because I had a good experience with the beer selection and the food. Service was great. My warning is this: If you are from the coastal south - Louisiana, Mississippi,Alabama or even the Carolinas you might not want to go here unless you are missing home, They have a lot of Louisiana - New Orleans style dishes and lots of North Carolina bbq. All good but if you traveled to Philly, you might be looking for something more local.

Snow...it's snowing in Philly. So....I bought their hamburger and a local craft beer. It still has the same charm from years ago. It's dark inside, but a good place to duck into for a beer and food.

A friend I was visiting took me here for a nightcap. A very cool old bar with a seriously ambitious beer list. Lots a of good options for anyone. Fun vibe and relaxed staff.
Great Brisket Plus
Stopped in for lunch before a show at the Christ Church Neighborhood House and was mightily impressed! The bbq was well done, flavorful and moist, and the beer selection was quite complete. And the double chocolate chip cake was great. Highly recommended!
