My new favorite Chinese restaurant in Miami

By Wolfgangamadeusmarco |

First of all I give it 4 stars because I have lived in places like San Francisco and Lima, Peru and worked in Hong Kong... but it is a 5 star for Miami Chinese restaurant standards. I am so happy that finally I have found a Chinese restaurant in Miami that I like and therefore I highly recommend it.

Excellent Authentic Chinese Restaurant

By TJBMF |

Excellent food and service. Authentic Chinese food in Miami. Food quality is excellent, served fresh and hot. BBQ roast pork and wonton noodle soup are super, highly recommend this restaurant. Chinese grocery store right beside it or another one down the road in case you feel inspired to make your own or want to buy some Chinese grocery items.

authentic Chinese restaurant

My local friend recommended it. The food is delicious. The service is good. It is a traditional authentic Chinese restaurant. It is more expensive than what I have in Chicago. I recommend all dishes.

The Best in North Miami and Maybe South Florida

By phildinftlaudy |

We come here every two weeks. General's chicken is spicy and tasty. Pork fried rice hits the spot. Egg rolls top it off. Not expensive considering the portion sizes. Love this place.

Best Chinese Food in Miami

By WillIGoBack |

Love this place! If you are from the Northeast then head over to this restaurant. As most Miamian's know we are not known for our Asian cuisine. Seems like every Asian restaurant focuses on ceviche and sushi. Well King Palace is the real deal. Any of the whole fish, lobster or Salt and pepper crab are delicious as well as Chinese green beans, pea shoots and clams in black bean sauce. Duck is there specialty and the combo platter of BBQ duck and pork is the perfect appetizer for large group or entree for two. Hong Kong Style won ton Soup is a must to start. Service is actually very good and genuine Will I Go Back? Yes as often as I can!

Authentic Chinese and American style Chinese

By 2TravelWisely |

This stand alone restaurant is unassuming in the outside, located right on very busy 167 Street in North Miami. The entrance to the parking lot is small and easy to miss, but go around the corner and it’s accessible from the back street. It’s worth the effort, well above the usual run-of-the mill Chinese food. The menu includes pages of authentic Chinese dishes, including roast duck, tripe, and frog, as well as American-style favorites like lo mein, Kung Pao, orange chicken, and beef with broccoli. There are lunch and dinner specials with the usual soup and egg roll and choice of pork fried rice, white rice, or brown rice. The menu includes vegetarian options. Lobsters and live fish are displayed in tanks by the entry and the case next to the host stand holds gleaming roast ducks and chickens. There are daily specials handwritten on a board in the dining room. The portions are plentiful, designed for sharing. The food ranges from good to really good. The prices range from around $10 for a lunch special to around $14 to $30 for the daily specials, with some menu items like lobster higher than that.

Equal to NYC Chinatown

By Lawrence F |

The best and most authentic Chinese food I have found in Miami. It is exactly as if you care eating on Mott Street in NYC. The proof are the number of Chines people eating there and the specials written in Chinese on the various whiteboards. Service is excellent, you are never forgotten in a corner. The staff is knowledgeable and can recommend whatever you like. Changes can be made. The menu is extensive and well organized by protein or type of noodle. Certainly, the atmosphere is sparse, but who cares. As they said at Horn & Hardart in NYC, you can't eat atmosphere. As far as I know, there is no bar, but you might be able to get beer...not sure. This is certainly informal eating at its best. You can wear whatever you like. The fish and crabs are in tanks, all alive of course, and the Peking duck is hanging like any authentic restaurant. The only criticism I can think of, and really it is a matter of taste, but the Peking duck comes with pillow like, puffy pancakes instead of the traditional flat pancakes. I never asked why, and maybe the flat pancakes are available. I'll ask next time. Other than that, you will find yourself looking around to see what the Chinese customers are ordering and you will tell the waiter "bring me one of those." A big hit with all I have shared the experience with.

Let me preface this review with I love this place...

By Gary S |

I have been eating at King Palace for more years than I like to admit over 30 years. One of my favorite dishes is Kung Pao chicken. I visited King Palace a week ago and ordered Kung Pao chicken, no MSG, no jalapeno peppers and use dry red chilies for heat. What was delivered was a plate with slivers of jalapeno peppers and dry red chilies. Ok a little error. I tasted the chicken and it was tough and tasteless as if it had been cooked prior to being put in the dish. As it turns out King Palace is now STEAMING the chicken and cutting it up instead of stir frying it. I again visited King palace last night and asked Chris the waiter to please have the kitchen stir fry the chicken. No luck. So I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp, no MSG, no jalapeno peppers and use dry red Chillies for heat. What arrived was a dish filled with slices of jalapeno peppers that I had to remove. The dish didn't have the Kung Pao taste that I enjoy. I will never order Kung Pao from King Palace again. I asked Chris about the Jalapeno he said he didn't hear me. Which is strange as he wrote on a pad my requests! That's two times in a row that he said he didn't hear me. I find it hard to fathom that. I am sorely disappointed in the treatment I received. And frankly should have returned the dish. As I say my sons and I have been frequenting King Palace for many years. And I don't understand such treatment.

Authentic Chinese

By Bernardo F |

I think this is truly the best Chinese restaurant in town. At first glance, this is not a fancy restaurant. When you walk in, the fish and lobster tanks are visible along with the display case showing the BBQ ducks hanging. The staff is humble and always gracious. There is never a time that we have been there that there are not multiple Chinese families patronizing the restaurant (a testament to their authenticity). Some of our favorite dishes include: Jelly Fish with Duck, Chopped Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings, Oysters with Black Bean Sauce, Special Egg Foo Yung, Kimchee with 100 year egg, Walnut and Broccoli Shrimp, Pot of Frog and any fish dish. You do not need to be an adventurous eater to enjoy this place, but if you have an appetite for more exotic foods, this is a great place to try them. The food is so good, that every time we visit here, I say that if this place were in a ritzier part of town and maybe decorated differently, the prices would be double.

Great Chinese Food

By Spencer |

It's all about the food: love the sea food soup, lobster with ginger & scallions, bbq ribs, shrimp with king mushrooms & special fried rice. Restaurant is dated, but clean. Service is efficient. Prices are reasonable for quality of food.

Chinese food done roght

By bonniefabian |

This is not a fancy place but when you walk in the door you know it’s the right place for an excellent Chinese meal. And it is. Most of the patrons are Asian so that is the best sign. We come for the Peking Duck. I am always searching for the best Peking Duck and this is in my top five from all over the world. The Duck is roasted to perfection, the soft pillowy buns melt in your mouth. It is served with julienned cucumbers, green onions and hoisin sauce. I prefer to order the Duck served in one course with the crispy skin still on. The hot and sour soup is delicious as a starter. The eggplant in garlic sauce is my favorite side dish. The menu is very extensive with choices for every taste. There are the typical dishes like beef in orange sauce or honey garlic chicken both equally mouth watering. There are choices for the more adventurous like frog legs as well as many authentic Chinese dishes that I have yet to explore. We are fortunate to live quite close by as many people drive great distances to eat at this establishment.

I've been here since I can remember.

By Farida Q |

So I've been coming here since I was like 5 and now I'm 23. So that pretty much says how loyal we are lol. I love their wonton soup with the rice noodle, the duck is always awesome along with the marinated chicken and fried rice. I usually get the beef lo mien, sweet sour/honey garlic chicken, more American Chinese dishes, the FOUR COMBO IS AWESOME (I totally recommend that), and some vegetable dishes (can't remember the name sorry). I'm just starting to branch out and try some different things in the menu but those are my classics lol. Anyway, It's gets filled pretty quickly during the weekends so my bet is go during the week it's a bit more empty. If in a hurry you can always call for pick up but for some reason the food always taste better when you sit and eat over there BUT It's not bad trust me! Okay this is a pretty long comment if anything else my whole family comes here to eat also, so it's like three generations lol and my fam from Nica comes here just to eat their food. Only 1 thing I'll complain about is that they use to serve oranges after the meals but stopped when I was like 12. Like why guys? I love oranges lol.

We had Christmas eve dinner at King Palace and shared selected meals among all the diners at our table. Every meal was delicious. We finished stuffed and happy. Our Christmas gift was the bill - very reasonable. Good good; fair prices. We'll go back soon.

Great chinese food

By nine52 |

The proof that this restaurant is really good is that many of the guests are of chinese origin. Everything is so good and huge. You can easily share one dish. Beef is good as shrimps and chinese pasta. We enjoyed it very much. No reservation but a parking is available and also take out. Service is very efficient

Best Chinese to be found in area

By Jay K |

We have been going here for years since the only good place in sunny isles closed after Christine Lee left also for Gulfstream. And her place is not Chinese anymore really. This place is great, food is authentic, fresh and very flavorful. The server remembers what we like and are always greeted with a smile. Seafood is so good and the green vegetables are amazing. No where else several them, be sure to get the snow pea tips with garlic sauce!

Always my goto for best, freshest Chinese

By Jay K |

It's hard to find good Chinese food in a good clean restaurant in South Florida. This place is always good, consistent and they remember us and what we order, even after more than a month gone. Great service, great people!

What a menu!

By BabsNMarty |

Last night was my third visit to King Palace. It was just as good as the first time. Their menu is extensive -- you can find items you'll never see anywhere else (i.e. barbecued pig intestines -- not that I'd order it). There are ducks drying, tanks with live lobsters and fish, large tables with lazy Susans, scurrying waitstaff (friendly and well-informed). I've had out of the ordinary dishes, such as duck feet, crispy ribs, and braised beef tendons. The portions are large and the prices are most reasonable. Reservations are suggested, but last night, we didn't wait and were seated immediately. We intend to return and try something different each time. We're planning on bringing a large party so we can all try and share different items.

Best Chinese BBQ For Top Quality Food, Not Fancy Furniture

By LoriWilk |

My son was trained as a chef and this is the Chinese BBQ restaurant he recommended and frequents in North Miami Beach. The chef's specialties which include roast pork and duck are off the charts to eat, enjoy and return to have more. When you look at the exterior and interior you might be unsure if you should eat here, but one bite of this Chinese BBQ and you'll be a fan. This restaurant should be rated much higher on the list of restaurants in Miami. There's also some very exotic dishes on the menu including intestines and even frogs for those who are so inclined. I cannot say we tried them.

Want authentic? Here you go.

By Pudntain |

Okay, you need to be a little adventuresome, anyway, just to find this place. Yes indeed the ducks are hanging and the tanks are full of fish and crabs. Let me summarize why I go there: Barbecue trio of crispy pork, roast pork, and chicken. If you like duck, they'll do that (Barbecue 4 ways). Get the long Chinese green beans in season. Spicy eggplant. Mustard greens. Congee, or some of the best hot and sour soup you'll have outside of NYC, LA, or San Fran. Note the large proportion of Asian clientele, plus the discerning Miami Beach crowd. Yup, it ain't fancy. But some of the best Chinese food in this town. Prices are more than fair.

Food okay but dirty restaurant

By Sunita P |

Went there for take away some peking duck. Very overpriced for what you get. The cashier was unfriendly and the restaurant very dirty. There are a few fish tanks with lobster and I think tilapia but what the hell did I see there...Lots of fishes in a too small tank with dirty water and obvious lack of oxygen. They were on the surface searching for oxygen. Very bad conditions for the fishes, they looked very unhealthy as well. Will never come back to this place

New York Chinatown in Miami

By GStier |

Best kept secret! If you 're looking for NY Chinatown food. Lunch you can go for Noodles soup with any kind of seafood or BBQ pork and dumpling if you prefer chicken or duck, they cater to your favor. You can order it with rice instead of noodle. Dinner is good to go with a friends, you can try lots of different dishes to share family style. You can starts with Hot & Sour Soup, Pan Fried Dumpling ( Can be steam too) Salt & Pepper Shrimp is a must, the best in town! Orange Chicken/ Beef. Fish to your preference sauce, Steam or Fried, same goes with Lobster. I prefer it with ginger & scallion. Veggies any style. They do have House Special on the broad everyday. Enjoy!

Amazing Menu of varied foods

By legaltraveller |

This restaurant's menu is HUGE. I love Chinese food, and in my many reviews, you will see a plethora of them. This one is just great! It's a sit down restaurant with many, many choices of top line items. I ordered the typical New Yorker's "Roast Pork Yatka Mein," (Pork noodle soup). The food was brought to us quickly and the portion size was immense! Easily enough for two people, but that was just the beginning. All of the food ordered for our table was tasty, well presented, and brought quickly enough that we weren't starving by the time it came to the table. The food and service have been very good each time I have gone back. We got some tea right away followed by a soup of our choice and right after that some great spring rolls. This made a for a great appetizer and the wait for the main meal seem nonexistent. The main course was delicious and it all came to a total of 11.00$ per person. Very good choice for a "hole in the wall" type of restaurant.

This restaurant had great food, now the food is horrible.

By Jose G |

I would go to another chinese restaurant if I were you, the food its horrible now. I ordered shrimp with broccoli and it came with pork fried rice if you can call that concoption fried rice, I call it wet white rice with coloring and no pork. Wow- what a let-down from previous experiences. Not going back there again.

I could eat here every day.

By Beemish Boy |

Great for unpretentious Cantonese food. Their chicken wings are the crispiest and best value. Try the seafood medley.

Excellent meal

By andreinakatrich |

The place is ok is not fancy place but the meal was excellent, fresh, warm, delicious and the service amazing, Christian was our server the best!! Super efficient and nice!! Good prices. 100% recommended!!

Authentic Chinese restaurant

By Fatima E |

My Chinese friend took me there and we let him oder the food for all of us tree. He ordered four dishes and they were delicious! Big portions, very tasty snd not heavy and fat like in other places. We really enjoyed it.

Orange Beef old recipe with dry red chilies!

By Gary S |

The best orange beef around, crisp and flavorful. Also stir fried string beans with pork and dry red chillies. I never order anything with "Chili Oil." Dry red chillies add a unique flavor and heat that is very enjoyable. Please do not forget the shrimp and pork wontons either in wonton soup or added to hot and sour soup, my favorite! One of my favorite places to enjoy Chinese food.

Only good Chinese place in the area.

By Will K |

Consistently high quality food with interesting daily specials and even a Chinese waiter who speaks Spanish! Staff are friendly and attentive. We take our elderly mother there and the staff are very very helpful when she comes. Food is excellent - try looking to see what other Asian diners are eating for ideas on what to order. The fried seafood platter is good. But the crab with ginger, or clams in black bean is also good.

OK, seems to be very authentic.

By Stephen S |

Went with friends who have been here before. They called it "The Real Deal." Well, they do have very authentic Asian food. But we must have been there on an off night. My Hot & Sour Soup was very peppery. My friends like their egg drop and won ton soups more than I liked mine. The garlic spinach was a big hit. Hot Pot short ribs were tough, but tasty: a bit salty. The crispy garlic duck was dry and absent either a noticeable or distinct flavor. Combination fried rice was as combination fried rice should be. Generous portions. Hey: The place was very busy. I will give it another shot, but I have been to better, just not in N. Miami. $85 for 3. Not expensive.

Something has changed....and it's not good

By phildinftlaudy |

I reviewed this place a year ago (April 2017) and gave it a rave review. It became and was my "go to" Chinese restaurant. Fast forward one year. The last two visits have been horrible. The quality of the food has gone down. I've noticed that the crowds that used to fill the dining room are no longer there. I actually had a claw in my General's chicken on one visit. This past visit the chicken in my General's was barely edible, the pork in my partner's pork lo mein was so bad he had to spit it out. The fried rice was greasy and flavorless (unless grease is a flavor). Not good. I hope that King Palace gets back on track. For now, it looks like I am back on my quest to find a good Chinese restaurant in the Miami area.

Excellent place for a simple meal or a banquet

By Beemish Boy |

As a foodie who travels for work, I sometimes dont want a fancy menu and it is sometimes difficult to find somewhere that you can have one or two simple things that are consistently good. But if you wanted to try something different and very authentic , this place can do both! the service is very good and the main server looks like a Peking Opera star!

Worst Chinese restaurant

By Sightsee214425 |

Worst Chinese food over holiday weekend! Meat in the Short Rib Steak Sizzling Pot were very chewy and the ribs were terribly cut with sharp edges. Will give 0 star if there’s any.

Excellent Chines Food in North Miami

By Phil G |

King Palace is our favorite Chinese restaurant in SE Florida. The pan fried dumplings are exceptional. We normally order three orders of 6 for two couple. Frankly, they are so tasty we could make an entire meal out of these dumplings. The Singapore rice noodles are also great, as are their string beans with roast pork. Their shrimp dishes are made with large, firm and tasty shrimp so these dishes are also terrific. Service is wonderful. Prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food. Just a great dining experience overall.

Saturday Lunch with the Family

By Jesse W |

The immediate past editor of the Miami Herald said about a year ago, in response to an audience question about the dearth of Chinese restaurants in Miami, that this was the best. From our experience, we agree! It needs a face lift to be sure, and servers are efficient if detached, but it is the kind of Chinese food one finds all over the place in New York or Philadelphia. Quite reasonable too. We will be back!

Authentic

By gjeffreye |

Great variety and well prepared food. You'll think your in China, especially since many patrons are Chinese. On a busy street with lots of traffic so without a GPS may be hard to find. Never mind, just get there.

simple the best FL Chinese food

By friedkin |

After years of living in south FL finding Great (authentic) Chinese food has been a challenge. King Palace remains "my" greatest find. Of the dozen or so visits it has never failed to please. Small hint: the greatest fried rice on the East Coast. Their Hong Kong style gigantic fish tank at the entrance offers a great deal of fresh fish choices. Worth the drive and located very close to the 167th St Exit on I-95.

delicious

By Olga U |

amazing food, quality service. Best Chinese food I have had in Miami hands down. Authentic Chinese food, not fast food. Highly recommend to dine in or take out.

Best Chinese food in South Florida

By SJD7777 |

No thrills restaurant for seriously authentic Chinese food. Our usual order: seafood noodle soup, vegetable fried brown rice, shrimp with king mushrooms, lobster with ginger & scallions, bbq ribs, snow pea leaves. Simply deliciousness.

Old time Chinese restaurant

By Marsha K |

Great service and food. Just like old times. Gratis (free) on the tea and rice. Hate when restaurants charge for it, especially chinese. Had shrimp and veggies and eggplant and garlic. Delish. My husband had orange beef. Large portions. Great for kids. Drink lots of water. .

Lunch Specials are good value for money.

By Beemish Boy |

The Restuarant changed its Menu recently, and while prices have gone up, the Lunch specials are exceptionally good value. For less than $15, I had 4 fried chicken wings, a bowl of hot and sour soup, an egg roll and pork friend rice. If want a quick and tasty lunch, this place fits the bill. I dont know how they get their food so hot, but their fried wings are always lava-hot and have to cool down before you can chow down.

Chinese Done Right

By Angelo R |

I come to this restaurant for lunch and dinner. It's not a fancy place but hidden food finds like this counts. You might pass by this place while driving on Miami Gardens but its definitely a must try. It's really hard to find decent Chinese in my area but this place delivers! As expected, the menu is extensive but if you're a regular, you know exactly what to order and do not worry, food is always served piping hot. I normally pick from the lunch menu. This time I ordered the roasted pork (comes w/ fried rice, hot & sour soup, spring roll). I've been to other Chinese joints around the area but they don't prepare it the way this restaurant do...lightly sauced, little toasted and tasty! The hot & sour soup was piping hot and hearty. Since my lunch special was satisfying me, I had the audacity to order another entree...crispy pork ribs. I just couldn't resist :) OK... I know its a bit of an overload but was worth it cause it didn't matter, I took home whatever was left. Service is always polite and swift here...perfect for a quick lunch but you might have to take a nap cause for the little money you'll spend here...the portions are pretty huge! (Tip: They only except Visa or MC and cash of course)

Great Food

By Gneiss1 |

I went here with a cousin. He was the one who heard about this restaurant. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection, displayed beautifully and tasted great. The hot and sour soup was so good. The beef was melt in your mouth. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. The neighborhood isn't the best, but the food, best I've had in Florida. It's not close to my house or I would be eating here all the time.

We became regular customers

By JPistesting |

In less than a month time, we have been some 5 or 6 times there. The place is ok, nothing fancy, and decoration as basical as one can do. But you don't go there to see and to be seen. It's more to eat quick, good and reasonable prices. Service is quick, friendly and efficient. My favorite dish is the salt &pepper schrimps. They are big, tasty and good balance with chili. Next on my list is the roast duck. It's the same duck than the Pekin duck they also have, except than you don't get the thin pancakes, seasoning and oyster sauce. They serve always a big portion of good white rice, and you get the complimentary tea pot the minute you sit. So guys, if you like Chinese cuisine, I highly recommend you this place. And if you don't like it, might be a good way to change your mind.

Most Authentic Chinese Restaurant in Miami

By mariabasil |

We have been eating at King Palace for over 15 years, my brother's office was in walking distance from King Palace and it is the best place for business meetings & office parties and family dinners. Every time we eat at any other Chinese restaurants, we can't help but compare how fresh and authentic King Palace is. Starting with the Soups and Fried Dumplings & Sizzling Pots, we can go on and on about there menu. Along with the great food and atmosphere, the service top notch. We enjoy going to a restaurant and feeling at home and King Palace gives us a wonderful experience every time!

It's worth the journey!

By Steve M |

I say it's worth the journey because for us it's a six mile drive to get there. But the food is the best Chinese food in Miami and certainly the closest to what you'll get in Chinatown New York. Anything "crispy" is a delight. The noodle soups are amazing and almost impossible to finish because they give you so much. The appetizer dumplings are probably the best I've had anywhere. Just go - you'll like it!!
