Amazing Thanksgiving specials! My family and I had a great time. The calamari is always a crowd pleaser too!! Such creative and fun desserts as well. Will definitely return.

This lovely restaurant is located right on the river overlooking the port. Good for watching the people and boats. On this night we were there to watch the holiday lighted boat parade. They do take reservations and we recommend having one as we did. So we were seated quickly at a nice table. Atmosphere is sophisticated business casual. Our waitress was friendly and efficient with some good suggestions. The menu had a variety of choices seafood, steaks, chicken and others although I thought it was a little above average price. For starter I had the Mussels and main course the Scallops. My spouse had the Swordfish. Both were excellent, nice portions and presentation. The other couples with us also thought their food was delicious. WiFi is available if requested. There is a paid parking garage or outside on the street which is metered. We do recommend this restaurant for a date night or special occasion.

Limited selection of entrees in a beautiful, on the river setting. Not a big fan of shellfish, I ordered the brandywine? fish. It came blackened, with bones, which I wasn't expecting. Salad was good as was the tenderloin with the best French fries either of us had ever had!. Bread extra. Lime tart okay. Cocktails were bountiful and tasty.

The patio offers a nice view of the river. We started with a very nice champagne to celebrate our anniversary. There was a nice selection of Oregon wines. The crab cake appetizer was very good. My husband enjoyed the scallops, and the organic chicken was very good. An after dinner walk along the waterfront is enjoyable.

Ate at both locations during a recent staycation at the Kimpton RiverPlace. Food was good both times as was the service. In the evening, we sat outside on the bar side - it was great people watching and looking at the river and marina. The one downside of this place (it seemed anyway) is that they allow pets. So there were dogs walking around near our table. One dog tried to come over and get a sniff of my wife. We're not pet people and so I was less than pleased about his visit. I even saw some people with CATS in a baby stroller. That was a first for me. But if you aren't bothered by animals in the eating area, you'll enjoy this place very much. I do hope to return but hope there will be less furry "friends" there.

Raquel at King Tide is so wonderful! From the moment we walked in until that moment we left she was so friendly and very attentive. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and gave great recommendations. We definitely recommend the Kanpachi Crudo and Ono Ceviche!!

We didn't feel like venturing out, so we had breakfast at King Tide. Service was friendly. The yogurt and granola needed some "action" as it was quite tasteless, so I asked for honey and it was great. The heavier breakfast with eggs, potatoes etc was excellent. Good Portlandia vibe. I cannot wait to go back for dinner next time.

I don't understand the good reviews, which I think are why our host chose this restaurant. Its in a hotel. The restaurant seating area is small and rather tight. The menu is mall and there were very few fish or seafood items. Way over priced. Even the dessert was disappointing. And it is hard to reach if you don't have a car.

We dined here for our 51st Anniversary dinner. The view was obscured by fog but the food and service more than made up for that! One of the tastiest meals I've had in a long time.. I had the Rockfish Ceviche and my husband the Lobster Bisque as starters. The presentation and taste were delightful. For entrees we had the Swordfish and Lobster Ravioli. Both were delicious. Chocolate Triffle was my dessert and it was yummy. The wait staff was also top notch, Friendly and helpful. We are coming back to Portland in September and I look forward to eating here again.

When for a business dinner and had the best meal ever! The dessert was amazing (that blueberry cheesecake ice cream was magical.) The servers John and Juno and the chef were so accommodating to my dietary needs. Amy the bartender was fantastic as well, so nice and her drinks were great! Beautiful restaurant as well on the river.

Four of us met for dinner after a three hour trip and hiking near the Columbia River. It was weekday so we were fortunate to get a table for four outdoors overlooking the marina. My wife had ceviche for an appetizer and I had elk carpaccio both were delicious. We had the halibut entreé which was excellent. Service was very good as was the ambiance. I would highly recommend the restaurant particularly after a long day and also if you are staying at the Kimpton Hotel where the restaurant is located.

Our weekend visit coincided with the Blues Festival. On Saturday July 7, we sat out on the deck & had several appetizers. Great spot for people watching & relaxing. Our waiter Jesse answered our questions & was very attentive. The broiled oysters were excellent, as were the smoked mussels with guanciale, clam chowder & rock fish ceviche. We also had a side of fries that were served with a spicy aoli that hit the spot. The Bee's Knees & lemodrop martinis were very good. For the five appetizers and four drinks, the bill was $100, which was a bit pricey but worth it. We will definitely be going back. We were able to sit on the deck for as long as we wanted, so we enjoyed the music playing in the background, watching the boats go by on the river & people walking up & down the espalande. Awesome atmosphere & a perfect evening. Will definitely be back.

King Tide is in a great location, with a great view! The food and drinks were delicious and the service was great. The restaurant is fairly new so I am not sure many people know about it yet, but they should. We would definitely return!

Restaurant inside the Riverplace Hotel so we decided to give it a go Smallish dining and bar with a large patio overlooking Tom McCall park and the Willamette river Not a complicated menu but focus on seafood…. we decided on spring risotto and mussels with a local brew, wine Portions were quite small , the spring risotto was brussel sprouts and sweet potato (hardy spring since asparagus is fresh right now). the mussels were fresh delicious but covered in a pile of fries ….. all tasty but lacking in presentation Service was a bit off as well having to get our waiters attention a couple of times Will be dining elsewhere tonight

In town for a conference, we wanted to eat as much seafood as humanly possible on a three- day trip. Yelp steered me toward this location, and it didn't disappoint. We started with a dozen raw oysters of various kinds. They were tasty and had awesome presentation. For the main course I order the fish and chips. The fish was awesome! The loudest crunchy batter. My husband had the chef's lunch with a lobster bisque, shrimp and grits, and cookie dessert. Yeah, he definitely got that to go. His was rich and delicious. I definitely stole a bite. Or two. The view is lovely and very picturesque as well. I would definitely visit again.

we wanted to hear the blues, so we grabbed a miller and a stella, took in the tunes yesterday....we enjoyed the people watching too...it was hot, so the beer and tunes hit the spot...next i had the caesar salad with white anchovies, and my partner had the tuna poke, crab cakes, and pistachio ice cream...the food was superb, the atmosphere relaxing...dannie was extra friendly, efficient, and excellent...melissa, the mgr, was great too, and was very friendly....thx so much!

My server Patrick was the best! He delivered our orders perfectly and was also the best person ever! Food was also delish like I always say: go for the food, stay for Patrick!

Great restaurant tucked into the Kimpton Hotel, southern end of Portland. We had not planned anything specific so walked in at 5:30, no reservation. The happy hour menu runs 4-6 and we ordered 4 selections with a house wine. Oysters, salad, smoked muscles and the steamed muscles. All were very tasty and good portion. Was not prepared to just do a meal from the happy hour list so next time want to try the whole fish grill or another fish entree.

The food was good but overpriced. Due to COVID offered order then be seated. Didn’t realize there was more restaurants on the river front. Would have chosen something else. Staff was friendly.

The food is amazing and the view is incredible. Service was definitely above par. I would definitely recommend it for someone looking to do a different vibe in Portland.

We had the most amazing dinner. The sauce for the mussels was exceptional. You wanted to drink it up after you were finished. The chicken fish was a wonderful mixture of sweet and creamy. The broccolini, though, was a little bitter. The sweetness of the apples, though, made up for it. I would definitely come back.

Food here was delicious and beautiful. Service was gracious and well organized. In particular our waiter Brian was friendly, organized, and knowledgeable about all the items. Answered all our questions. It was a delightful evening in a lovely setting.

We were going to an event nearby and decided to have dinner here before the show. It was an early seating so the restaurant wasn't crowded and the sound level was low making conversation easy and pleasant. Our greeting was friendly. Our server was attentive, friendly and helpful. The setting was comfortable without being too casual or formal. It had a nice view of the river and our seat by the window was also good for people watching as they walked and ran by on the riverside walkway. The menu offered many tempting choices and our server was helpful with answering our questions. King's Tide has an interesting cocktail list as well as a good selection of local beers and wines. We received great recommendations on wine food pairings. Our food arrived promptly and was well presented. It was all delicious. My wife decided for simple fish and chips and said they were the best she's ever had...not over breaded with well seasoned fish that was flakey, fresh and very tasty. I had the Squid Ink & Oxtail Tortellini which was an attractively presented deliciously savory dish.

My Fiancé and I wanted a fine dining experience, and the King Tide Restuarant perfect destination. The menu had a great selection with a Peruvian flare. The Salmon was cook to perfection. the wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the manager (Brendon) was engaging and fun to chat with. It was exactly what we were looking for. We'll definitely be back again. M & K

While staying at the Kimpton RiverPlace hotel, we made a reservation for dinner. Most hotel meals are meh at best. This is an exception to the rule. The food was amazing. A tremendous, dining experience.

Everyone around me seemed happy with the slow pace, stayed even after they finished their meal. I had halibut , everyone else seemed to have huge burgers (I was in the bar). It was very good, though the "salsa" seemed to be just some shaved red cabbage. It seemed the skin was on top but their was also skin on the bottom and crust parts, making eating it with the salsa impossible. This was the first time I had cauliflower rice, I like raw cauliflower but cooked is just ok. Good coffee but getting a refill was difficult. I was an entire episode of Perry Mason (1 hour) by the time I was done.

First time visit. I ordered Cocktail prawns to start. Huge! Firm and cocktail sauce was delicious! Green salad was light dressing, fresh veggies and hazelnuts. Daughter ordered Rockfish and it was fresh and delicious. My husband ordered king salmon with risotto and asparagus and said it was wonderful. I ordered lobster roll. There was 2 homemade rolls loaded with lobster! Topped it off with dessert plum & hibiscus torte and key lime pannacotta! Yum! And drinks for 3 bill was $150. View of water was beautiful. Inside our outside seating. Our waiter Jonus was superb! Very knowledgeable and friendly! Will come back! Thank you for a wonderful birthday celebration

My girlfriend and I met some friends at the King Tide Restaurant for dinner and drinks. The service was amazing, food was spectacular and drinks were tasty and delicious. Rich and Theresa were extremely welcoming and hospitable. I would highly recommend King Tide for any get together, whether a formal or casual.

My daughter and I dined here a few days ago and it was nothing short of spectacular. I still cannot get over how good our meal was. I can’t stop thinking about their lobster roll. It was the best I’ve ever had.

For dinner, when we asked for some advice on their wine list, the waitress had no clue and there was nobody with any knowledge. Given the restaurant is positioned towards the high end it astonishing the staff had zero knowledge of their wine list. The food itself was really outstanding. We had a variety of mains and appetizers. All were really outstanding. However, they seemed to be understaffed and the service levels were extremely poor. It really ruins the good food. We ate many breakfasts in the hotel and the food was quite good. Except for a few mornings, again, the service was poor. The exception was the morning hostess who was so outstanding. She was always friendly and so helpful. If they could clean up the service issues, the restaurant would be outstanding.

First the positive; Our reservation and request for an outdoor seat were fulfilled, and we were promptly seated; the outdoor seating offers a nice views; the raw oysters, as you would expect in Oregon, were fresh and tasty; the seafood in the entrees we ordered were nicely prepared and not overcooked. The negatives: We did not receive our first glass of wine and oyster appetizers until 30 minutes after we were seated, plus they did not deliver oyster forks with our oysters; they were out of our first wine choice (bottle), so we went with wine-by-the-glass; our table was cheap and wobbly; my risotto was too salty and bland, however the seafood it contained was very good; the prices were too high for the food, drink, and service provided. I guess we were paying for the nice view. We would not go back if we visit Portland again.

We've eaten at this restaurant through many iterations mostly because of the prime location on the river. We learned not to go there for the food necessarily as it just wasn't very good. That has changed! This new version called King Tide Fish and Shell has convinced us we'll return again! The staff were so great and the food delicious. We had three different versions of excellent Pacific-caught rock fish: ceviche, salad and fish and chips and each of us were so delighted. Then, because we were celebrating a birthday they brought us the dessert of our choice gratis. That isn't that uncommon of course but our birthday girl chose an expensive option. We offered to pay half at least twice and they refused both times. They just seemed to really wish our meal experience was top notch both in flavor/freshness and ambiance. We will definitely return and I'm writing this to encourage you to try it also. Great place for visiting guests as the view is lovely too. And now the food is also excellent!

My husband and I were looking for a relaxed place by the water for a light dinner - and opted for King Tide. While we were dressed casually, some other diners were dressed up - no matter to the waitstaff, though. We shared the roasted beets (out of this world good!), crab cakes(close second favorite), and fish and chips - plus a sauv blanc snd a worthy street ipa - and were quite full and very satisfied. Highly recommend.

For $40 I got a teeny piece of halibut smothered in hot sauce. I’m sure the fish was delicious but my mouth was on fire so I couldn’t taste it. Why put spicy sauce on delicate fish??? Get a chef who can pair flavors! This was terrible!

In any other city, I'd give this place four stars but this is Portland and we have high expectations. On the plus side, King Tide has a great location and an old school ambiance that would be perfect for a business dinner. The menu has many classic seafood dishes and everything is plated beautifully. However, I was underwhelmed by both the service (ex. our appetizers arrived before our cocktails) and by the food itself (the flavors fell a little flat). Everything seems a bit overpriced as well.

Loved the water front location with fall views. I was hesitant about eating here as it is a hotel-restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the food flavors and presentation. Relaxed atmosphere with great food and views. The happy hour salad was excellent and I was happy to see Brie cheese an toast as a topping on the salad. The Halibut with cauliflower rice was fresh and delicious. Service was spot on, thank you Mehdi. Safe area to walk around alone in the evening. Awesome meal.

Located in the Kimpton Riverplace hotel downtown on the river, this is a reincarnation of a former restaurant at the property. Focused on seafood, the menu has many locally sourced dishes that are prepared with care. The oysters fair from OR and WA and servers will explain their distinctive flavors. The calamari starter is one of the best of this dish I have ever had. Also ask for the housemade hot sauce. We had the rockfish and salmon entrees and both were prepared perfectly as ordered. Wine list, by the glass or bottle were expansive though I bit pricey. All in all a great meal and experience

Great place to relax and enjoy the harbor view. Great seafood and our server/bartender Alex was attentive, but not hovering. Looking forward to a return visit.

Rebecca was the most incredible bartender! She was gracious and cheerful and made my day after a long day of travel! Four stars for her awesome service. Also the happy hour specials were delicious! Loved the pork belly skewers!

Upon returning to Portland after a long day visiting Cannon Beach we opted for this restaurant for a nicer dining option since it was our last evening visiting family. My adult kids love this restaurant and we’re excited for us to try too. I was a little disappointed with my dish as My taste buds envisioned something entirely different but the rest of my party was happy and enjoyed their meals. I found it to be a bit pricey but it is a pleasant atmosphere. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating. The highlight of the meals was the truffle mashed potatoes which we ordered as a side and clam chowder as an appetizer. Enjoy!! 😊

We were staying in the hotel and ate at the restaurant several times. The breakfasts and dinners were always good and the service was very good. The view of the river and dock area is very pretty. They are dog friendly on the patio or outside the bar area. Very enjoyable experiences!

We had many good-excellent meals at King Tide while we stayed at RiverPlace Kimpton, Portland. In particular they do fish very well. Healthy cuisine has a role there too in addition to very flavorful, local, creative... The beet salad was wonderful, all the fish dishes were topnotch. Desserts are also great--poached pear, delightfully presented. Homemade ice cream & sorbet. Bar food is far better than most. We also enjoyed breakfast there. In a town where it is hard to get a good reservation, we were very happy that Kimpton has great food.

Saturday night I watched one bartender do more for a wedding party that I ever thought possible, all while still making everyone happy. And all with a smile on your face. Megan, you make a mean martini. Cheers!

My girlfriend and I went to dinner at King Tide, as well as breakfast the next morning. We stayed at the adjoining hotel and were glad to find that this restaurant is much better than several other experiences we've had where any given restaurant is attached to a hotel. We arrived at about 6pm on a Tuesday and were shocked to find that the restaurant was extremely busy-not a table to be had. MAKE A RESERVATION! We sat at the bar for dinner instead. We ordered oysters, ceviche, the bread, and another dish or two so we could split everything. Everything was delicious even though it was quite pricey. The service was a bit slow, but I do not hold that against the restaurant since they told us up front that they were short-staffed and it was clear that the bartender and all servers were working hard. I would definitely return if I'm in Portland again.

This was an amazing experience. I am vegetarian and I left full and very happy. The food was great and the chef was very helpful in making sure we got food and didn't feel left out. I do not eat fish, but would go here again.

If you find yourself along the waterfront for any reason and need to eat, check out King Tide. Great vibe, food, and staff. Such a hidden gem with lovely scenic views of the Willamette River. Thank you, Kyle, Sarah, and staff for a wonderful evening. Our table was ready when we arrived. We were welcomed with smiles and enthusiasm. Sarah was very attentive to our questions and needs, even finding a bottle of wine I requested that wasn’t on the wine list. While they are not set up for group dining in King Tide they accommodated our group of 9 very well. Call in advance to see if they can meet a group dining request. Everyone in my group enjoyed the meal. Killer Japanese Curry Empanada in a puff pastry, brisket, curry, cilantro, and house-made sauces. Thank you, Kyle & Sarah, you made our night and really put the cherry on top!!

Delicious fish restaurant in the Kimpton Hotel. Wonderful outdoor seating facing the river and protected from the wind. Menu is small but varied. Decent wine list to match the excellent fresh fish. Also a good bar with attentive bar tenders.

Staying in hotel. Reserved a table for one. They pushed me off to the bar because “We have some big parties coming in.” Won’t be returning.

Arriving at the Kimpton Hotel after an afternoon flight hungry is a good thing. It will give you a good excuse to partake of the delicious happy hour. I had a dark beer and the clam chowder. This is the run of the mill soup you may be used to. You bowl comes with the clams in the shell, bits of red pepper, celery, and onion all artfully arranged and the creamy soups is then poured into your bowl, excellent. My family members enjoyed salad, bar fries, and deviled eggs. The eggs were such a hit, I believe they reordered over a dozen.

We were staying in a nearby hotel so wanted something close. This was a perfect choice. It’s also located in a hotel but there is a dining room and a bar area. It’s located right on the river with large windows for a view. We were eating light so had a crab cake appyand Pacific clam chowder- similar to New England but very smooth. The big treat was Chowder Fries. We got them because they sounded so different and actually a little gross. French fries on a slight bed of chowder and topped with diced clams. They were really really good. The fries were perfectly fried - crisp and tasty - the chowder just acted a little bit like fries with gravy - and the diced clams were tasty. We ordered them on a lark but ended up loving them.

Wesley our server was friendly and extremely accommodating. He was able to modify a dish to my wife's liking. Wesley also brought a extra bottle of water to our table because the 🍸 cocktail she had was spicy hot. As for menu and food, we thought there would be more seafood choices. The ceviche was very good and when asked Wesley brought more plantain chips. My brined pork chop 🥩 was moist and tasty. My wife enjoyed her seafood risotto, but thought it was average tasting. The chocolate mochi cake was good, but we liked the toasted marshmallow ice cream 🍨 better.

Hotel restaurants often don't deliver much in terms of creativity or out of the ordinary dishes. King Tide was a surprising exception, offering both great views from both the bar/casual dining area and the separate restaurant across the lobby. Seafood dishes offered creative approaches, including unusual preparations, stronger accents of seasonings and sides and thoughtful presentation on the plate. For a quick bite or more of a meal, there were enough offerings to keep it interesting and make it hard to choose.

Best chowder! Also had their oysters and the ceviche was fantastic. Our server Mehdi was very attentive. We sat outside with a wonderful water view. A bit pricey but the food was worth it.

We were in the mood for a seafood-centric brunch. Shame on me for obviously not looking at the Sunday menu for what is claimed to be an awesome seafood restaurant in Portland. The only seafood we could get at 11 AM on a Sunday was Eggs Benedict with a small amount of Lox Smoked Salmon. No other seafood on the menu. Bummed. But I'm still giving it 4 stars as the location near the river is great and outdoor seating is plentiful if not too cold or too hot and food was good but pretty hard to screw up breakfast food.

King Tide is a perfect date spot. Located right by the river, they have the best view in town. From the moment we arrived we were received extrondinary service. Our host, Wesley was friendly and attentive. Our waitress, Raquel was amazing and knowledgeable. She recommended the Branzino and Ceviche which were both out of this world. The flavor profiles were perfection. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this restaurant.

Passed this place on a walk along the riverfront and decided to stop in for dinner - so glad we did! Jonas was a terrific server - we followed his recommendations and were not disappointed 😊. Started with the ceviche and the steamed mussels which were amazing!! Followed that with a grilled halibut that was sublime. Cocktails and beers to match - highly recommend!! We will be back...

We tried this place on a whim because we were staying at the hotel but we came away disappointed. My husband had clam chowder and although he appreciated the very unique take on it ( the clams and vegetables were on a bowl and the chowder was poured over it), he didn't like it very much. My Caesar salad was ok but disappointing as well. The server, although very friendly, was very slow to check on us and bring us our food. Not sure if it was because of the kitchen or what but it made our experience less than we had hoped.

The menu made it very hard to decide what to have---so many excellent options!. We were able to sit outside with our pup, and Mac at the restaurant was exceptionally helpful when I called to make reservations and explained that we needed to sit outside since we had our dog with us. He went above and beyond to help us. The food was excellent as was the service.

I have to say that the staff here was amazing! Megan is a beautiful soul and a awesome bartender/ mixologist. Thank you all so much for taking care of our family / wedding party

Place may not look like much but wow, what great food and service. Definitely 5 stars for us! Has a view of the water and while we were there we saw a beautiful fireworks display right outside our window. The eel was over the top as were the muscle appetizer. Our main entrees were done to perfection.

Wonderful view on a quiet outdoor terrace. Fish cooked to perfection and hands-down the most delicious mussels I have ever had in my life! All so very good. I hope to return!

Fabulous venue with great river views and heated outdoor dining if that's your desire. Great oyster selection and eclectic menu that might not please the lover's of Denny's but which we found exciting. Intimate interior setting with limited seating so consider reserving a spot on busy nights.

Great Sunday Brunch. The usual favorites plus some nice fish dishes. Really nice views of the river and marina. Great raw oysters too!

Did dining month here with a friend. We had a great time. Fun waiter--gave great service. The food was fresh, and so tasty. Dining month is an excellent way to try some of the best places in town. This is no exception. Go, have seafood, and enjoy a fantastic meal.

We were staying at the Portland Marriott City Center and decided to walk to dinner. This restaurant had local beers, friendly service and a very good menu.

We had Thanksgiving dinner here and it was awesome. We had never been here before and we will definitely be back for brunch/lunch/dinner. I had the wedge salad and the beef Wellington. The flavors of the salad dressing were so good! The Wellington was also great with perfect puff pastry. We shared 3 desserts - basque cheesecake, ice cream sundae and pecan pie. Service was great and it was a nice calm atmosphere. Other diners included people of all ages including a new baby, a toddler and young children. My husband and son had the turkey dinner and really enjoyed it due to the thoughtful preparation. You can tell they have a real chef in charge!

Meghan the bartending queen made my stay at the Kimpton River place Hotel! She went out of her way to make me and my friends feel like honored guests. Suggesting excellent cocktails, the best wines and providing the kind of service that you would expect at a five-star restaurant paying top dollar. She made each one of us feel so special. Thank you Meghan!

Jonas was amazing! As a local, I was not aware of the new restaurant. I am so glad I found this hot spot. Chef Roberto will take great care of any customers needs as will Jonas!!

Dining room was cramped with very odd access to table. Halibut was way over cooked dry and a very thick scorch. Destroyed halibut. Octopus salad appetizer was good. Desert menu very limited, cheese cake, chocolate cake or ice cream. Not one option with any fruit. Wait staff did not check in during our stay. Huge disappointment. Would avoid.

Four couples dined here. We had a great waitress that was the highlight. The food was not bad but definitely not great for the price. The oysters were outstanding as well as the calamari. The tiramisu was horrible and the worst presentation and taste of this dish I have ever had. I guess my complaint was not good enough for a credit as one of our group did receive this for the tiramisu. They also do. It take more than three credit cards per table! He craft beer was good but I would never return.

Rebecc was the best! She answered all of our questions ( We had a LOT of them!). Great food, great drinks, great service! Wish they were open later . . .

This is located inside the Kimpton hotel. They have a bar/light dining side and then another side which is full restaurant more formal dining. We had the Rockfish and it was very, very good.

We visiting King Tide while in Portland for a convention. There were a group of 5 of us. I thought the menu was somewhat limited but decided on the fish and chips. I was pleasantly surprised that the fish was not greasy and had a wonderful crunchy coating. It was served with fries and coleslaw. My husband had the lobster rolls (2) and did not enjoy them at all - said there was too much bread. He also had the clam chowder which was served a little differently that we're used to - there were several small clams in a bowl with a few pieces of potato and then a small portion of creamy soup was poured next to these ingredients. Seemed fancy but it was a very small portion of soup for the price. The restaurant is located inside a hotel and diners have a view of the river. While the food and service was good, I wouldn't go back.

Good meal. Amazing pear salad. We had the lobster roll and halibut fish. Both were very good, although I was not a fan of the pickeled garnish. Good value.

We sat outside and enjoyed the view of the river, and oysters and wine, watching the sun set. Very relaxing!

I booked a table for five at this place about a week prior to my trip. I was given the option of an outdoor table or indoor table. I chose outdoor because it's by the river and because my family is still not really eating inside at restaurants but outside whenever we can. We got to the restaurant about an hour early and checked with the hostess to see if they could seat us early. She couldn't but she was very nice. She said we could sit outside. And that we could get drinks at the bar and take them outside. We let her know that our reservation was for 7:15 and that it was for outside. She said okay and that she would let us know when our table was ready. At 7:10 my husband went inside and she said yes your table's ready it's inside I don't have a table big enough for five outside. Why was I able to book a reservation for a party of 5 outside if they don't serve parties of five outside? But what was more frustrating is that we sat there for an hour because when we told the hostess that we had a reservation for 5 for outside for a little later she said okay. She did not say I'm sorry we won't be able to seat you outside at the time. If only she had said that we would have been able to decide whether or not we were comfortable eating inside and wanted to eat inside given that it was a nice night and outside is by the river or if we wanted to find somewhere else. Instead we sat there for an hour and ended up not being able to eat there because not only did they give us a table inside and tell us that they absolutely couldn't seat five people outside they gave us the worst table in the restaurant. My family and I are all very careful to treat restaurant staff properly because we realized that often people are short with them and nasty with them. At no time was there any contention and the hostess was polite it was more the lack of efficiency than anything else and the blatant disregard for the type of reservation that we made. I will say however that the bartender who served us the drinks that we ordered to take outside was absolutely amazing unfortunately we didn't catch her name but she was seriously one of the best bartenders I've ever had. In the end we decided to leave before ordering any food because our table was crowded and uncomfortable and right by the door which meant everyone coming in was not just walking past us but literally shimmying past us. It was almost like they stuck a table there because they needed a table for a larger group. I wouldn't bother with this place.

The restaurant is in the Kimpton Hotel on the west side of the Willamette River. We had a nice table overlooking the river. Our server was very knowledgable and helpful. We had a great appetizer of pickled eggs cut in half and topped with crab and fish roe. We had different entrees of salmon, roasted vegetables and salmon, and a made-to-order crab salad. The tangerine tart for dessert was very good. All was great.

I made a reservation for a window seating so my wife and I could view the Christmas Ship fleet. Long story short, Two weeks before this evening I booked a room and dinner reservation at the hotel. I explained our need for a window table and was assured we would have a table with an appropriate view. We arrived on time and were told that we wouldn’t get a window table. I explained the situation to the manager, told him we have a room at the hotel and that we made the reservation weeks in advanced. He told me others had made reservations well before us and we could either take a table without a river view or go sit in the bar. I called them out. They simply messed up and wouldn’t own up to their mistake. We went to our room and watched the ships parade. We went to Mama Mia’s Italian restaurant as an alternate. We were served great food and after hearing about our misfortune with King Tide Fish and Shell, our server comped us free dessert. I live in Portland and will never go to King Fish again. The Riverplace hotel is awesome, but the service at their restaurant is unnecessarily pretentious and extremely rude.

We loved the menu and the atmosphere. Our meal was great, and was just what we needed. However, the service was disappointing and we left feeling bummed out. We stopped by for brunch with our toddler, waited 5 or so minutes to be seated, waited much longer to be greeted by our server, and honestly felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. No one asked if we needed a high chair, and I had to drag it halfway across the dining room with my daughter in my arms before a server offered to bring it the rest of the way. No one addressed our kid either in any way/shape/form, which just felt odd. Check-ins were infrequent throughout our meal, and we had to get up to ask for things on a couple of occasions. One member of the staff seemed irritated when I asked for a side of hot sauce and an extra fork. Here's what no one knew while we were dining -- this was our first full breakfast in a month. Our lives were just turned upside down when our daughter received a cancer diagnosis. We were celebrating her counts being high enough for us to venture out into the world, outside of the hospital. And we felt like we were a burden and like no one cared if we were there or not. Obviously, I don't expect anyone to guess our life's troubles. But it was disappointing to feel such an extreme lack of hospitality and general compassion when spending $100 on breakfast.

At least our breakfast was good despite our Kimpton hotel stay - the food was good with service as crappy as the hotel.

My mom and I went here for dinner and had an amazing meal! The service was incredible - we had Tony as our server - and his recommendations were great. Highly recommend the Sturgeon, it was delicious!

On four day visit with breakfast here each am. Loved the salmon avocado toast, great coffee and crab omelet. Bruch one day with lobster roll and more oysters. Nice selection. Bright room and great service.

Had both a great dinner and a wonderful breakfast here--you just feel as though the ingredients are all very fresh and local---the lettuce in the Caesar salad was particularly tasty. In addition, the chef incorporates a number of very interesting twists in to their dishes. For example, the lobster roll is presented in a black brioche bun--squid ink--it was awesome. It is a spectacular place for breakfast, as the light streams in through the windows and one can look out to all the walkers and those moving down to the docks to participate in water sports. The menu is varied so one can go from a Kampachi appetizer to a Rib Eye entrée.

Had a wonderful experience at King Tide. It started with Jonas, our fabulous waiter. He made sure we got the perfect cocktail and glass of wine. Then fully explained the menu. So we all got exactly what we wanted and we truly enjoyed every bite! We enjoyed the Deviled Eggs with Crab, the Black Cod, Rock Fish, and Ceviche.

Stopped here because of the reviews. Almost turned around because it was in a hotel. I am glad we didn’t as it turned out to be one of the best seafood dinners we had ever had. The chef makes tons of fresh sauces that are stellar. The food was cooked superbly, the Octopus was some of the most succulent and tender I have ever had and the squid ink chip was it was awesome, we wish we had a basket of them. The bartender was new and a didn’t quiet know the menu; however, the chef came out and was a joy to talk with. The place wasn’t packed and it should be. Highly recommended.

Outstanding service and food. Stephanie, Sarah and food manager Liza were all outstanding. The employees care about their guests and about the service. The food (one of us ordered Branzino dinner and one ordered prime rib) was delicious. We will return. And hotel that the restaurant is part of (Kimpton RiverPlace) is first class all the way.

There are two different areas for the restaurant, a bar-side with tables along the River, and a regular restaurant, serving same menu in both places. We ate in the restaurant, service was prompt, friendly and very helpful in recommending oysters and the varieties offered that day. Oysters were very fresh, served with appropriate sauces. Try the chef's smoked hot sauce, it was super! We settled on fish and chips for our entree and it was delicious. Too full for dessert! Would recommend to others.

Our lunch here was excellent but there seemed to not be much to choose from on the menu. Also, I thought the prices were too high for what was offered. Chardonnay at $17 a glass is bit much for such a limited food selection.

Hands down this is one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I can't believe I've never been to King Tide! We originally went down to eat at TD's Pop up taco bar in front of the RiverPlace Hotel but it was not open. The staff was incredible, so friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered oysters, the house pickled deviled eggs (which were amazing) and the beet salad to start. We decided to splurge and get the Whole Fish "A La Plancha" for two. the catch of the day happened to be striped sea bass - my favorite. It was cooked to perfection and served with roasted mushrooms, truffle potato puree with a French Chasseur sauce (that takes 6 hours to make). I thought I had died and gone to food heaven. Seriously one of the best meals I've ever had. However, it did all come at a price...but worth every penny! The people sitting next to us were also impressed, they tried to order it but it had sold out. The cocktails were delish too!

On our first night in Portland it was an easy walk down to the waterfront King Tide located in the Riverplace Hotel. It was full but we had reservations and got a table immediately though not overlooking the river, so no view. The semi-formal ambience was excellent and the only children there were ours! We were five adults so we decided to each do the Portland Dining Month three-course menu (pick one item from the four options in each course) so that we could all partly share and taste the different appetizers, mains and desserts on offer. For the first course we had the crab toast and kanpachi crudo; for the mains the market fish (rockfish that day), the squid ink and oxtail tortellini, and the airline chicken; and honey and buttermilk panna cotta and chocolate trifle for dessert. Overall the PDM deal was great as was the food. The cocktails were unusual and exceptional. Service was a bit slow.

5/29/19. The food was great. We ate outside. Unfortunately, so did many dogs. This place is $$$$. During and after dinner, our server was scratching, petting, and loving all over the dogs while handling food. I love dogs too, but digging your fingernails into a dog while handling food is not right. I don't care how Portlandia it is. We won't be back.

We had an array of appetizers that were all delicious, but the service and patio view was the best in Portland. If possible, see if Jonas is working for amazing food recommendations and wine accommodations to follow.

Had great chowder fries-who would have thought of this?!?! Lobster linguini was off the charts delicious! And the Bees Knees cocktail...well you just need to try one! Wonderful dinner experience along the river.

Love the location on the river, it's great to have two hours of free valet parking and depending on your seating, the view of the activities on the river and river walkway are great. It was an early Sunday dinner and it was quiet and balcony seating was available. We were not as impressed with the food. For a seafood restaurant, aside from the raw bar the menu choices were limited. We were told that the seasonal whole fish catch of the day was too big for two so in terms of fish, we were limited to the black cod, king salmon and halibut cooked in only one way with a choice of three sauces. We split a beet salad that was good and each ordered the halibut with two different sauces. It was served on cauliflower - almong rice which was okay if a bit dry. The halibut was well-presented and was the thickest pieces we have ever had - about two inches cut into a slightly larger square. Unfortunately, it was overcooked and lacked the natural juiciness of good halibut. Not bad enought to return but ...

Branzino is fire. Ceviche? Fire. Dirty martini?! FIRE. OYSTERS?! Don’t skip the oysters please. Meaghan was an absolute goddess and I will only return when she is working. She was so sweet and attentive and fun. She made the experience an absolute pleasure. We live in the area so we’re so happy to return to places that make us happy and have great service. Can’t wait to return.

Having surveyed extensively, as a 5th generation Oregonian, the finest places to relax on the banks of the Willamette River with a fine cocktail in hand, this is the place. Not only is it the best setting on the porch of the hotel, but the mixologists are top shelf. My only suggestion, do not allow customers with dogs. Or, keep them in a small corner of the patio. Witnessing a woman this week dragging her dog in the midst of relieving itself beside us, was less than attractive. The 12 foot long trail of urine ;left behind did little to improve the ambiance of the finest outdoor river bar in the city.

We went here specifically because my daughter wanted an Acai bowl for breakfast and it was close to our hotel. Her Acai bowl was okay but the rest of us enjoyed our food immensely. Nothing too fancy just well done and delicious. We were there on a weekday morning and it was dead inside so our food came super fast. Service was great, the server knew a lot about the menu so we could make a choice based on our dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy).

Appetizers Deviled eggs with crab & roe and Elk carpaccio were good. The entrees rockfish was a bit over cooked as was the salmon. In general, food is good but nothing spectacular. The inside seating is noisy and not that interesting; sit outside if it’s available.

The food was not exceptional and the service was very slow. This is a pricey restaurant located in the Riverplace Hotel. There are other restaurants within walking distance.

I looked the Ming tide up on TripAdvisor. Our first night in town we made an online reservation. When we got there I find out this is a hotel restaurant. All be it a very nice looking hotel. However the restaurant had very limited atmosphere. Yes it is by the river but no real atmosphere. The food though was the BIG disappointment. We both had the taste of Portland meal. The Raw fish starter was small, minimal flavour with an enormous sesame and miso crisp that completely overpowered the delicate fish. My pasta was not good at all. The crimped edges of the tortellini were really undercooked and hard. The first had some filling the second was empty. The lobster was small bits of over cooked rubber. I sent the dish back. They offered me oysters. When these came they were the smallest I have ever seen. My wife’s fish was ok but underwhelming with little flavour. My son had a cheeseburger off the kids menu it was ok as was my other sons fish and chips. Desert was the final straw. As in my first bite the honey Combe broke my crown. The server David was great and tried really well to save the evening. Thanks David for your efforts. Unfortunately I was really unimpressed with the restaurant

Happy Hour in the bar at King Tide Fish & Shell was amazing! It was an incredibly gourmet and unique menu, and absolutely delicious! Jack, our bartender and server, as well as Stephanie, were very attentive, helpful and friendly. I will definitely go there again and recommend it to others!

A nice little place near our hotel. I ordered the plank halibut and it didn't disappoint. The salsa verde sauce was tasty. The sweet potato creme brulee was some of the best I've ever had. Apple caviar on top complimented it perfectly. A very nice meal.

We were staying at the Kimpton hotel and did not feel like going out having traveled from the east coast. What a fabulous surprise. We had big, fat juicy mussels, local oysters on the half shell and delicious calamari. My husband had salmon and I had rock fish. It was absolutely fabulous. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was attentive and informative. The restaurant is on the river so you can eat inside or out. It was reasonably priced and a delightful experience. I would highly recommend.

We have gone to King Tide many times but went today and it has really declined in quality. The menu is nothing like it was earlier, very short menu with very very few options, we considered getting up and going away but decided to remain. The food we got was OK but not great. Something bad has happened to this restaurant and we are not going back.

While visiting Portland, had a wonderful lunch at King Tide Fish & Shell. The avocado toast was so much more than avocado toast! The grilled oyster mushrooms were a wonderful addition to this vegetarian entree. And the soft brioche bun stepped up the fried chicken sandwich. It's just the little ways the food is uplifted that made a difference... Plus, you can't beat the outdoor seating, with a view of the river!

We had the best service ever! We sat at the bar, and Meghan waited on us. She was amazing! Made us the best drinks, and, because of our indecisiveness, ordered us our meal! Everything was fabulous, but service was TOP NOTCH! We will be back!

11.00 and 14.00 for a 5.5 oz. glass of wine in a plastic cup is a total rip! We were seated outdoors. NEVER again. I could just about stand it if it was served in a wine glass but a plastic cup!

It is the people. Vance is the guy you would want to place all your needs on. I had the worst evening in my life but Vance comforted me and showed me a private space where I could work and checked up on me. It might be one of a kind of a review, but that’s what it felt like. Apart from that, food and drinks were AMAZING. These guys sure as hell know how to make food. I was a bit unhappy about the cocktail portions, but whonis not? Vance, I hope I spelt it correctly, is an amazing employee and I would come to this place only because of people like him. Cheers!

Went in for our anniversary dinner, did make reservations and specifically requested a window table to enjoy the view which they were very accommodating about. For starters we had the smoked muscles, the Dungeness crab avocado toast, and the Mexican style ceviche; all of which were very tasty but the ceviche really stood out. Being Mexican and from a coastal town myself I am VERY picky about ceviche. This one was very good and kept to minimal flavors while adding a creative twist with the tomato ice. For the main course I had lobster roll on black brioche and my husband had the halibut a la plancha. Again neither disappointed. The lobster rolls were amazing. The halibut perfectly cooked. The only thing was the cauliflower rice that came with the halibut had maybe too many almonds for our taste but that’s more of a personal preference. Drinks were spendy but beautifully crafted and creative. Over all an enjoyable meal and drinks with a beautiful view.

The food was amazing, pork loin with spicy collards were a meal I will look forward to next trip. I was there at the hotel so I ate breakfast and dinner there 2 times. My server was Christopher and from the first meeting, I felt like we were friends for years. Great service, Great food. Andy

We had a window seat, with a great view. Note there is valet parking if you want it although there is no sign (we found a street spot a couple blocks away easily). The interior feels like a hotel breakfast room - not a high-end restaurant. The view is great. It's great to walk on the waterfront after your meal too. I ordered the chicken and it was only ok. I really didn't like the side which was not very substantial. My husband had the trout and he said it was excellent. The presentation on both dishes was really nice. Chocolate cake for two was good. Butter Pecan ice cream was good (ice cream flavors changes). We really were not impressed with either salad. I think there is a lot of potential here and the seafood seems to be really good.

My father and I enjoyed dinner at King Tide on June 12th. We were greeted by Chase, the general manager of the restaurant who was courteous and engaging. We sat outside and had the patio to ourselves. Our waiter, Jacob was friendly and attentive. He was able to answer all of our questions with a friendly disposition. Our experience was incredible and memorable. We started with a drinks, I enjoyed an El Diablo, tequila, a touch of ginger and... excellent! For starters we each tried something different and shared. From the crab cakes to the chowder fries, we could not decide which was the best, they were both outstanding. For entrees Dad had the rock fish and chips and I had the most incredible salmon over an almond and cauliflower rice mix. Each was beautifully presented and delicious. We ended the evening by sharing a slice of the espresso cheesecake. It was the perfect ending to an exquisite meal.

We both ended up with fish tacos which were grilled and tasty. While we lingered to discuss our next move, waitress brought a refill of soda without request. We used $10 coupon from hotel which was readily accepted and applied. We left happy.

Located inside the River Place hotel by the waterfront this restaurant, that had just opened, was trying hard to have a unique menu but, in so doing turned us off. Service was outstanding.

In the lounge with access to both the “Happy Hour” and the restaurant menus. We ordered from both. The house-selected wines were excellent (and a bargain); the Clam chowder, crab cake, salad, ceviche and fries - ditto. We’ll be back.

Had a great dinner here. Some of the best scallops I’ve ever had. Food was made in a good time. The toast was actually quite delicious.

We had appetizers and drinks in the outdoor patio. Great spot, as it facesthe river front and the beautiful grassy space. Had the calamari always a good choice. Our riverfront cottage was so beautiful, we dined in with room service. Delicious-ordered the clams with pasta & the mussels. For the price however, definitely needed sides with it.

The chef did an excellent job of preparing the meal! I had the Salmon with riced cauliflower and almonds. Also deviled egg with crab and salmon. And half dozen raw Tide Point Oysters from Washington state. The drink was a special for the night; Gin w/peppermint, lime, honey, & lavender bitters. It was delicious.

My husband and I dined at this restaurant on the last night of a week long Washington/Oregon vacation. We thought the food quality was excellent- had the halibut and the steak along with calamari, salad and wonderful cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Highly recommended!

Me and my cousin came in for brunch on a Saturday. It wasn't very busy after 12. I had the chicken and waffles, it was delicious. But more than the food the service we received from Patrick was above and beyond from anything I've experienced in the past. We appreciated his attention to detail, his recommendations, and the fun conversations. Very grateful!

8 friends have dined here together for the past 9 years, to watch the Christmas ships, and celebrate the season. The service was good - they did their best. The food embarrassingly awful. Shame on you! Two of us had the linguini and shrimp. The portion looked as if they split up a full order between us. It was a kids portion. The pasta cut up as a parent might for a child. The shrimp also cut up - would have made 1 whole one. It was dry and tasteless. Asked for a lemon slice and cheese to add flavor - tiny slice of lemon and a thimble portion of parm was given. Still hungry we ordered salads. Fish and chips - fish over cooked and dry, 2 small pieces and a plateful of fries. The only person who enjoyed their meal had scallops, cost $36, $18/piece. But cooked perfectly. Salads were good, but over all everything was ridiculously expensive for the food served. Very poor value. The food doesn’t look like these photos. The drinks - ordering vodka with a soda back, cost extra. A bailies coffee drink - coffee and Bailey’s priced separately, as well as the whip cream, . Good company of friends, couldn’t see the ships the decorations covered the windows, Will not be back here next year, or anytime in between. Seriously - stay away, you can enjoy spending money at many other restaurants downtown.

My partner and I had a nice overnight visit to Portland, such a great city with such wonderful people. This restaurant wasn't my first choice, we had planned on going to another but I didn't know reservations were required. We were staying at the Riverplace hotel and to be honest just went to the restaurant because it was convenient. We were so glad we did, this was a very nice upscale restaurant. I didn't think it was overpriced considering how good the food was. This ended up being a little gem. The waitstaff was great and we had a wonderful conversation with our server Troy. He recommended the sturgeon and it was prepared the best I've had. I would absolutely recommend.

We are regulars at the hotel and eat here often. The food is excellent. We've never had a disappointing dish. We highly recommend the Seafood Risotto and the Grilled Branzino for dinner, but any of their seafood dishes are outstanding. You can't go wrong with their seasonal starters either. Try the farm tomatoes when they are on the menu. You won't be sorry. But the food is only part of what makes this place special to us. Most recently, I was in PDX for serious eye surgery and couldn't risk being exposed to viruses. Even though it was cold outside (mid-November) and the restaurant wasn't serving outside tables, Christopher went out of his way to set up an outside table for us with a heater and blankets. He makes us feel like family. That's the kind of treatment this place offers. And he's not alone. Sarah has always been equally friendly and helpful. They know how to choose good staff.

My adult daughter and I had a wonderful brunch before the play last Sunday. Very good food and a wonderful atmosphere with a view of the river! I parked near the Keller and walked to the restaurant, but she found a metered spot by the restaurant that allowed her to stay until after the play for an easy exit. We both enjoyed tasty, healthy juice mixtures. She had a great brisket burger with fries. I had a really good quinoa chia hot cereal including bananas, nuts and other tasty toppings. It was just the right place for us. Highly recommend

My husband and I were suggested King Tide by the front desk of our hotel. We decided to just have happy hour at the bar and thought it was amazing. Stephanie, the manager suggested the empanadas (the most amazing I've ever had) and we also tried the calamari (so good, tasty tartar sauce). Dan, the bartender, made us the best cocktails. While talking to Stephanie again, we mentioned our plans for Thanksgiving canceled and we were just going to order some pizza because everywhere was full. Well, she would not hear of it. Even though they had been full for awhile, she made room for us. Thanksgiving morning, we decided to walk over for breakfast. It was really busy and you could see they were under staffed, but I was so impressed how they handled themselves. A nice young man (can't remember his name, started with a "P", had an accent) served us. Again, we saw Stephanie running around and smiling. She recognized us and made sure to greet us even though she was clearly very busy. So sweet. The food took some time, but it was still so good. The ricotta pancakes were the best. Thanksgiving was everything we could have hoped for. Cassandra seated us with a delightful smile and Stephanie came over to say hello right away. We were so excited to see her. Sarah, the server, really knew her stuff. The parsnip soup was delicious, traditional turkey dinner with lots of side for the table to share and, oh my goodness, the bread pudding was better than my mother's. Throughout the meal, I couldn't help but notice Stephanie running around EVERYWHERE helping every one of her staff and greeting every table. She looked so calm and never once lost her smile even though they were packed and she clearly had a lot to do. I don't know where she got the energy, since I knew she was there the night before and all day. Before we left, we had to stop and give Stephanie a BIG hug and thank her for saving our holiday. The next morning we came back for breakfast before we left the city. A sweet girl named Ashton helped us. The avocado toast was fantastic. I could not believe it when I saw Stephanie walk in again. She must live close by or be staying there for the holiday maybe. I said I was so sorry she had to work on the holiday and she responded with the best answer I have ever heard. She said she was so happy to be there. She pointed around and said how could she not be with the most beautiful location and the best team in the world. She said it was an honor for her to be a part of so many peoples special memories. We thanked her again for saving our Thanksgiving and told her she will always be a part of our wonderful memories here. I truly hope King Tide knows what a treasure they have in this wonderful woman. We will absolutely be back and stay at River Place hotel next time and that is truly because of Stephanie.

Had a wonderful family dinner at King tide. Thank you Troy and all other staff for the experience! 🥂🥂

Sat outside, great service, we shared the devilled eggs & fish & chips, both well presented & full of flavour .

Several items on the menu required an explanation for me. Ask for Sarah. She seemed to know every detail about the various dishes.

On a visit to Portland my husband and I visited King Tide. I wanted some good Northwest seafood, it had gotten good reviews and it was right across the street from our hotel. It more than lived up to the hope. The ceviche was out of this world and the poke was as well. But additionally the little extras made the dishes. A little sesame seed brittle with the poke and an outstanding "hot ice" with the ceviche. True compliments to the chef and I only wish I lived closer.
Awesome restaurant with beautiful view
My husband and I visited Portland the first time for 4 days, we went to this restaurant 3 times for dinner, it’s right by the river, beautiful view, awesome food and great service!
