I could not praise the Kingdom of Dumpling more. The menu is fantastic and I was lucky to be able to share with four other people because there were so many choices that tempted me. I was also lucky to go with Chinese foodies and great cooks who were able to choose for me. Garlic pea shoots, spicy beef tendon, shangai soup dumpling, pork and shrimp dumpling with green chives, chicken dumpling with napa cabbage, cold wide bean noodle, farmer’s cucumber, duck curry, spicy garlic noodles.......everything was just fantastic. The place is tiny, service is friendly and efficient, portions are large. What is there not to love! I can't wait to go back and try more items. This is definitely not the place where you want to stick to the usual 'Chinese menu' fare.

Ordered for takeout vegetarian pot stickers, eggplant prawn with rice, and boiled peanuts. The pot stickers were delicious. The eggplant prawn was tasty, but had way more eggplant than prawn (I wouldn't mind paying more for more prawns). Boiled peanuts were okay, but I prefer them softer. Takeout time was noon and rice was clearly recycled from the day before.

We enjoyed everything we ordered, and would only suggest that if you're doing take away, that you order some things that should be eaten very hot, like the salt and pepper tofu, that you live nearby! The curry duck soup was delicious - the broth is very flavorful and not greasy. The dumplings are a bit doughy, but what a price to pay for fresh and handmade dumplings! It's impossible to resist the sugar pea tips with garlic - such a delicate flavor, and the crispy lotus root was just delicious and perfectly prepared.

This place has great dumplings and green onion cakes. Does not look like much, but the food is flavorful and cheap. We usually just grab a takeout and eat on the beach. Highly recommended.

I was checking envibe for a chines restaurant, saw Kingdom of dumpling among others, checked the website/menu and decided to order online, very nice that there was delivery. The food was tasty and i would like to visit Kingdom of dumpling personally next time ))

Didn’t give them a 5 star because we ordered the hot and sour soup and it was super spicy that it was not editable. The dumplings were good slight dried inside and chow fun was a bit salty. But for the area. This Chinese food reminds me of the San Gabriel valley which has many Chinese amazing restaurants.

This is a hole in the wall restaurant that specializes in dumplings. We had Shanghai dumplings and pork chives dumplings which were pretty good. My son ordered grilled beef fried rice and was very salty. We also ordered grilled skewered lamb which were very salty as well. Our waiter was nice enough to offer us to replace it with another dish so we opted to replace it with pan fried pork dumplings. Inside the dumplings were small amount of meat and the buns were too big. I'd go back for the Shanghai dumplings.

The restaurant was difficult to find because it is such a tiny place. You can't be driving too quickly down Taraval or you will miss it completely. Remember it's between 27th and 28th. Anyway, we ordered the pork and shrimp dumpling with green chives (12 pcs) which I was disappointed with because it wasn't very juicy. The salad of garlic black fungus (it's listed as fingers) with cucumber was crunchy and delicious! The Shanghai Soup Dumplings (6 pcs) is what I thought we were getting with the pork/shrimp dumplings. I think we should have ordered all Soup Dumplings as these are the ones that had the hot juice that spurts out. These were great. On the table was an orangy sauce that had a nice kick. Be careful. As far as seating, there were 3 chairs at our table, but the third chair wasn't being used; I had to ask the next table to please move so that I could squeeze in. If I went back, I'd double the Shangai Soup Dumplings + other sides.

The restaurant is on the small side. The interior is very simple. The service was efficient and on the friendlier side with us. The dishes trend to more traditional flavors. We shared 5 dishes and they ranged from good to very good. It was not culinary and the presentation was simple. The price is on the affordable side and it was enjoyed for a casual meal. Worth a try!

Great dim sum type foods, and a variety. It's an odd little place and there may be a line, but go for it! Quirky and shabby but outstanding food. The string beans were memorable -- SO fresh! Probably the only restaurant in my life where you walk through the kitchen to get to the restroom.

Have been here a number of times over a number of visits and the dumplings are good. They are (hot) bite sized dumplings and despite ordering 3 portions between the 4 of us as well as other dumpling dishes, we were still hungry. The check came. We took the opportunity of asking for a chicken chow mein (tasty), but told we couldn't if because it wasn't part of the initial order. "What? So you don't want our custom?" And we prepared to leave, and only because of this did they relent with polite contempt. Tasty dumplings, but unlikely to return again.

This is definitely a hole in the wall. We came because the Shanghai soup dumplings (xi long bao) were listed in the San Francisco 7x7 Big Eats "100 things to eat in San Francisco before you die." The soup dumplings were good, but you will not miss anything if you don't eat it before you die. We had this dish as well as beef tendon soup noodle, sautéed green beans and some kind of pork dumpling. They have another store front several blocks down on Taraval where they sell frozen dumplings. I have to say, food was ok, service was good, and cost was inexpensive.

First off I am mainly rating the food. The soup dumpling, garlic beans, crispy green onion and beef pancake was amazing. If you are in search of this kind of cuisine then I say this place is a must. I will go again. I look forward to taking friends. The restaurant itself is a small hole in the wall. Be prepared to stand in line. The inside is old and in need of help. The zaggot awards gave it 25 out of 30 for food, 6 out of 30 for decor. The staff is a bit rude and that may be a bit because their English is limited. However, the food is excellent!!!

Kingdom of Dumpling is a rather small, casual restaurant located on the Parkside section of San Francisco. This restaurant is a popular place and the few tables inside the restaurant can not possibly accommodate many people who desire to eat there. Consequently, this restaurant has many take-out customers. This place offers a wide variety of food: a large selection of dumpling, dim sum, soup, wok dishes, and some new dishes that appeared on the menu recently. We ordered several dishes including dumpling to go and had to wait for about 45 minutes before our food was ready. There were many take-out orders ahead of us. all of our orders were well prepared and delicious. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant does not have a private parking but there are a lot of street parking available.

Really good soup dumplings! I believe they only accept cash so be sure to bring enough cash. The wait can be 20 minutes, sometimes longer with the crowds and by the way, it's a tiny restaurant with maybe 8 tables. We ordered the soup dumplings. There's no bad dishes here. Just be patient cause it's about 10 minutes per dish SERIOUSLY. This isn't a place that rushes.

When we got up this morning (January 23, 2016), I saw a text from our son inviting us to this Restaurant for Lunch with his Family. It was 32 miles from our home in Palo Alto, California. We went and was surpised for the Great Lunch, eventhough we end-up paying for the Lunch. We ate 8 plates (96 pieces) of Dumpling of various fillings, from pure veggies, Chicken, Pork, Shrimps, and Lamb. We thought the Lamb filling with vehhies were the best. In addition we had: 1. Spicy Beef Tendon 2. Cold cut marinated cucumbers 3. Crispy Lotus Roots 4. Chinese panckae (our granddaughters loved them) 4. Stir fried Sichuan Green Bean 5. Shanghai Xiao Long Bao (Dumpling Shanghai Style) 6. Stir fried Chinese Green and 7. Shrimp Fried Rice. 4 adults and 2 kids and we ate all of them. Total bill $98.89 plus $21,19 tips = $120.00. Restaurant takes only cash.

I was picked up by a friend at SFO, and we swung by Kingdom of Dumpling in route to the city. We found on street parking, and went into what was not much more than a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. We arrived just before their "Staff Meal", so we made a large order. We ordered chive pancakes, green beans, and 4 kinds of dumplings. It was enough food for 4 for dinner, so we enjoyed and took leftovers with us. Soup Dumplings have been on my to try list. The spicy dumplings were great! But, the green beans were the best I have ever had! The green beans were simple, crisp. fresh, and the garlic was divine. Yummy!

This is a great place to enjoy homemade Chinese dumplings. The other reviewers are accurate in that it is a "hole in the wall" with only 9 or so tables - be prepared to wait. However, waiting outside on the typically breezy and chilly Taraval Street sidewalk builds the anticipation for steaming hot dim sum. We particularly enjoyed the Shanghai soup dumplings and the garlic green beans. Very simple food that is reasonably priced, and satisfying!

Place is small, get there early-it gets crowded fast. The smaller the group the better. Dumplings are fantastic, do three orders of dumplings and plate of noodles and you're set (2-3 people). Ignore the decor, bring your own atmosphere and you'll have a good time.

Don't expect much in terms of decor, or even cleanliness. But, if it's authentic dumplings and other tasty treats you're after, then this is the place. Tiny tables, more suited for groups of 2. Very busy, they will ask you to place your order while you're still waiting for a table. Because of this, food comes out very fast- as soon as you sit down. There is a take out KoD down the street, so you can take frozen dumplings home.

We stopped by this place today for some Xiao Long Bao and dumplings. This is a rather tiny restaurant so things are a bit cramped. The food was good though, particularly the Shanghai soup dumpling, Spicy dumpling , string bean and beef tendon. The Lamb dumpling and beef pancakes were not bad either. We had so much and the bill came out to be less than $90. Will come back next time in SF.

We were a group of 7. We got there early and were able to be seated, but from the looks of the place, this would've been a challenge had we arrived an hour later. The food was good, and I as the only vegetarian in the group was grateful for a few menu options. The 88 year old woman in the group thought all the options were "too doughy", and some in the group had never had anything but American chinese food, so this was a new experience for them. Good service!

This teeny restaurant sits less than 25 people - definitely fits the "hole in the wall" category! If you're looking for authentic mandarin dumpling cuisine - and dont want to venture into chinatown - you've got to give this place a try! We called in for a table for ten, true enough, they readjusted half of their tables to sit us! Specialty of the house are those little soup dumplings and he proceeds to teach us how to enjoy and eat his dish! We also tried all sorts of dishes - other dumplings, fried tofu and chicken wings upon his recommendations ! I've never been to an Asian restaurant where warmth and hospitable were part of the equation - this place has it! Be patient when looking for parking and waiting for tables! Well worth the wait!

The dumplings have to be the best in the city. They are outstanding. Usually a wait for a table, but well worth it.

I loved the pork and shrimp wonton soup with wide rice noodle dish. Came at 9pm but they were very accommodating and nice (they close at 10). Allowed us to preorder outside while waiting for a table (they only have 8 or so in this tiny place). The waiter had food suggestions but don’t feel pressure to order everything he suggests. Was able to find parking on the street not too far away.

We met a nephew here for dinner. The place has a line so get a reservation or go early. We selected four meals for four of us and the waitress said that we needed more. So we ordered two more. We had way plenty of food, so probably didn't need more. The food was fun and good. We enjoyed our time there but felt that we needed to leave so that others could come in. Very small place but good service and good meals. Prices were incredible for the area...but it's no frills.

Had been to this for many years and is getting more and more popular. We had dumplings everywhere and this place is just alright as per homemade. Its basically a hole in the wall, with very limited seating and service is very rough. You need to sit close to each other, not much room for walking and the waiting time is tremendous unless you are lucky. I had to say the string beans are good, but the tendon noodle is alright. As for the beef pancake- the flour is way too thick with very limited beef. The panfried bun was crushed and very expensive. If you are dying for dumplings ,you should just go down the block and buy the frozen dumplings to go and cook them yourselves. I had better home made dumplings somewhere, its just in San Francisco its mostly cantonese and this is northern style cuisine, thats why its seems so popular. For 3 people, easily cost $100

The handmade dumplings were AMAZING! I would go here every single time I go to San Francisco. Definitely recomend this restaurant.

This is a hole in the wall, small and simple. The food is authentic and comes out quickly. the dumplings are tasty and the veggie options are many too. We called ahead online and by the time we parked our table was ready.

It is a quintessential "whole in the wall" place in the Sunset district housed in what I beleive used to be a 2 car garage converted into a storefront. The "decor" is certainly very basic, but there a re people waiting outside any time of the day. They don't take reservations - dah- why would they? They have a nice menu of different dumplings and other things, all excellent and extrmely cheap too. We walked in and the owner just oredered for us whaen we were not sure what to oreder. We couldn't stop eating even though we were full... Go there!

We have eaten here on several occasions and this review is based on the food more so then the staff. It is a smaller place then the competition down the street (Dumpling Kitchen) so lines here are longer. Which may be why the staff is so rude at times. Overheard the waitress tell some people to stop ordering food so other people can have a seat :( So the dumplings; there are a great many variety here, they come out piping hot, the accommodating hot sauce on the table is nice and it is fast. The problem is it all comes out at once and you can't keep track of what you're eating, unfortunately they look the same and after awhile tastes the same. Pork with cabbage vs chives and beef..etc. Most of our friends prefer Dumpling Kitchen as they have more variety of food and larger seating area and more staff.

They make the dumplings down the street and they are fresh and hand-made. Down (and across) the street, you can buy take-out (freshly-made or from the freezer where there is a larger selection. But if you want a great fresh dumpling,....

I mean WOW WOW WOW!! We were just sooooo lucky that a cousin took us here when we were visiting SF, there is no way you would find this place on any tourist trail map. It's teeny weeny! Much like being in someone's house and getting the most amazing food, and so reasonable! The only regret is we discovered this gem waaaaay to late in our holiday to have a return visit. Brilliant for a tasty lunch, maybe not for a long romantic evening meal though as it's pretty cramped. Love it and well worth the visit

We visited this place based on the great reviews we saw and was ver disappointed. This is a very place, I would say it can probably only hold about 30 at the most and it's doesn't look very clean. So we ordered soup dumplings, chow mien noodles and a green onion pancake. The dumplings were mediocre, the dumpling wrapper was thick and the taste was bland. The chow mien was also flavorless and had celery in it. The green onion pancake is bitter and looked like an omelet and the filling fell out. So don't waste your time eating here. Your better off buying trader joe's dumplings, it actually tastes better.

Not knowing how big the portions were, we ordered too much food! We had the pork and shrimp with chives dumplings, beef pancake, green beans with garlic, and two kinds of soup; all were excellent. The soups were huge and would have been a meal all by themselves. I'm still dreaming of the dumplings. Mmmmm.
Go to Dumpling in San Francisco
If you are in the mood for dumplings and have time to queu then this a place to go. Seating only 20 persons this is dumpling efficiency at its best. Fast and friendly service, choice of many kinds of dumplings, along with rice, noodle and vegetable dishes. They could improve soup dumplings, which here tend to be drier than thei famous Taiwanese kind. A quick lunch or dinner, expect to eat tasty food, simply prepared and served.
