great service and amazing food. they are known for their meatballs and they did not disappoint . cocktails were sizable and tasty. desserts are awesome too.

Group of 12 had dinner at Kinzie's and we were seated in the Wine Huntress Room, a private room that is great for groups. Our server was excellent and the food was delicious. Large selection of items on the menu and the steaks are terrific.

Everything from the service, Rob from Louisville, Ky was our server, to the wine, to the drinks to the food was perfect! I had the meatloaf and my husband had the salmon. Both were to die for!

Our waiter, Craig, was very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Atmosphere was nice and mostly calm- especially for downtown Chicago.

Our experience during our last visit was not good. The server was rude, the person he was training was not someone who seemed to ever have worked in a restaurant. When he tried to take away my salad before I had finished, I had to stop his quick hand. Despite the restaurant not yet being busy, they were rushing to pour the carafes of wine. Most disturbing was when I witnessed the server pick up fries from the serving tray and stuff them into the cup and present them to another diner. Touching food, is never acceptable. When I brought all of this to the attention of Colleen, the manager on duty, she was apologetic and took my email address. Now, weeks later, I have not heard from her. I would have preferred she not ask for my info if she had not intention of following up. There are many great restaurants in Chicago; this is not one I can recommend.

Kinzie Chophouse is an excellent traditional downtown Chicago steak house with wonderful meal choices. I had the Porterhouse steak with a side of creamed Parmesan spinach, all of which was very tasty. Note that all this excellence was pricey, even by steakhouse standards.

The Kinzie Chop House was recommended by the concierge of our hotel and it surpassed our expectations. If we had gone there earlier in the week of our trip we would have definitely gone back a couple of times. The food was amazing and the service was excellent as well.

We had made reservations for this restaurant before we flew out from our hometown. It did not disappoint. The food was amazing the service impeccable. The evening was delightful as was our waiter. Would highly recommend chophouse if you’re in the area. Walking distance to our hotel which was a huge plus but I still would’ve taken a lift or Uber to get there. We are definitely visit again.

What a blessing in disguise, we originally had a reservation at another steak house downtown but we were driving from Schaumburg and was caught in all types of traffic. I don’t know how the Chicagoans deal with it every day, we were just there for a weekend and every day traffic jams(even going home). My wife reads some reviews and seen where people were raving about Rob. So my wife sent a message to the restaurant that it was our anniversary and they responded right back. My wife called and we got a 6:30pm(Saturday 08/12/2017) reservation. There is no valet but you can park across the street and they will validate your ticket. I parked around the corner where it was a three(3) minute walk back to the restaurant. We were greeted warmly and was taken to our table and guess who our waiter was, that’s right Rob. He greeted us with two(2) glasses of Champagne and told us that he was to take EXTRA special care of us. Well I must say, Rob did just that!!! The ambiance was just perfect, lighting was just right, not to low and not to bright. There was a little music playing in the background and the noise level was prefect. You were able to have a nice conversation across the table. They have a very nice wine list and I happen to love Germany Rieslings and was able to order a bottle of St. Urban Hof(Piesporter) Riesling. Rob started off by explaining the combination and asking us if we wanted to see the different cuts of meat and we accepted. Rob took his time and explain each cut and asked us if we had any questions. My wife ordered the Lamp Chops and I had the Cowgirl(14oz Ribeye) and they were both cooked to our satisfaction. My wife had Chipotle Mash Potatoes and I had asparagus. Our food arrived in the normal amount of time and both plates were “hot!!!” Both dishes were very good but my wife’s Lamp Chops were the BEST I have ever taste. The Chipotle Mash Potatoes was AWESOME and very delicious!!! To top the night off, we were treated to a hot piece Decadent Chocolate Cake with candle on a plate design with Happy Anniversary. Check out the pics of the dishes we both had. If you are in the Chicago area, you "MUST" give Kinzie Steakhouse a try and ask for Rob!!

I visit here at least twice yearly. Situated right with all the other great Chicago Steakhouses downtown. This place has a comfortable demeanor melding upscale and 'glad that your are here' service. This keeps bringing me back. Certainly, Chicago Steakhouses are not priced for every day eating; This place always makes me feel happy that I splurged for a nice night out. Of course, the food and drink is always phenomenal!

Our uber recommendation took us to the place, people in hotels will point you to the big steak houses in town and never mention this place. It was exquisite. We had a great steak, juicy and perfectly cooked. The steak was $38. I would recommend it as a local experience, since tourists don’t frequent the place that much. The fries were surprisingly good! I would order it as a side to the steak again and again.

From the bartenders to the front of the house and wait staff the service was excellent. My wife and I went in for our anniversary and were extremely pleased. We were encouraged to share a steak as we could not take food with us, and they also treated us to a wonderful dessert. Great drinks, food and service. Great experience

In Chicago on business you have to do a steak restaurant, its a bit off as must and is a threat way to finish a day spent talking. I chose Kinzie because of the great reviews and the facts this was not on top of the business district. I was not disappointed, the evening was great. We only stayed for the one course but then given the sizes of the steaks, which were delicious, you don’t need any more food. One particularly nice touch was the ability to have a single glass of red wine with the steak without having to order a bottle, which is perfect if there are only 2 of you and you don’t fancy a heavy evening. A great evening, many thanks.

Wandered in by accident in search of a good steakhouse--it was delicious! I'm not much of a steak person, but the chicken was quite yummy and the shaved brussels sprouts were great. BF rated his steak among the best. There were some ladies at the bar being a bit obnoxious while we were there, but I can't fault the restaurant for that. Service was great, food was even better, and value was pretty good for the quality.

We took our grandson to Kinzie to celebrate his 14th Birthday and were not disappointed! From the minute we walked in the door and were greeted by Liz, who immediately told our grandson Happy Birthday, to the wonderful service that we received from Rafael, our server, we could not have been more pleased. They went above and beyond to make our grandson feel celebrated! The food was absolutely delicious and the service terrific. We love Chicago and plan to return again soon; a dinner at Kinzie Chop House is definitely on our agenda! The steaks, the sides, and the deserts were excellent!

Incredible food! Great atmosphere. The service was fantastic we enjoyed everything about this restaurant, and the prices were completely reasonable we were expecting our bill to be much high base on the quality of our experience.

My wife and I found this place years ago and they have never disappointed. We booked an Raul’s 6:15pm reservation to beat the crowd and our server Janeen was awesome!! I had the Caesar Salad, Delmonico Steak, Creamed Parmesan Spinach and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. We closed it out with the Decadent Chocolate Cake and Strawberry Cheesecake to celebrate our 33 year wedding anniversary!! We encourage everyone to visit the Female Owned restaurant in Chicago!!

We arrived early to enjoy drinks and a football game preceding dinner. It was our great fortune to be in the care of Julian. He is a passionate and very knowledgeable bartender and chef. He shared his culinary techniques while telling us about the menu selections. We had a joyful adventure and a wonderful dining experience.

Wanting someplace with a solid reputation for steaks and convenient to the River North area of Chicago, we chose Kinzie for our celebration dinner on a beautiful Saturday night. We were not disappointed. Choosing outside seating, we had impeccable service (thank you Kelsey) and the most delicious steaks (Platinum Delmonico and Filet Mignon) with incredible sides (shaved brussel sprouts, cream corn with sausage, silky smooth mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. It was all off-the-charts delicious!!

Walking into the Kinzie Chophouse almost felt as if i was living in the 1940s. The feel of the building, the outfits of the waitstaff, the attentiveness as if we were royalty......man, i was very impressed. Six in our group, and everyone left feeling as if this was a once in a lifetime dining experience. From the variety of drinks to the variety of menu offerings, every one of us found what we wanted and enjoyed what we were served. While it could have been the company (close relatives gathering for a wedding), we all felt it was the food that made our experience so great. Meatloaf, Steak, Short Ribs, Scallops, Seafood Linguini, Spinach Parmesan, Sweet Potato Puree, Arugula and Peach Salad, Berries and Cream, and the warm house breads........everything was made to perfection! The house Cabernet and Red Sangria were also top notch, with the Sangria having a real kick to it! We started around 6, and when we were done, all the tables were full. No wonder. Such a wonderful place to gather and allow the experts to do the ordering, serving and cooking. One of the best meals of our lives!

This place has been around forever and should be. It's a little more old school with real Chicago roots. The food is great. For a Chicago landmark deep in history and proper steaks give it a go

We stopped here on a whim when we discovered the place we originally intended to go was closed. We chose to sit in the lounge because we just wanted a couple appetizers and a glass of wine. Our server was kindly attentive and talked about the wine choices...so many good wines!!! The food was also delicious!

We watched the infomercial in our hotel room and thought it looked pretty good. From the moment we arrived we knew we had made the right choice. The ambiance was just right and our server, Rafael, was delightful and very knowledgeable! The food was divine, my husband and I both had the filet. You can tell the owner, Susan and her staff, are proud to have served the Chicago are for over 25 years. I will go back!

We stumbled across this place on our way to Blommers Chocolate, and returned for dinner. The 3 course meal is an amazing bargain, especially for the city and for the quality of the food and service. For $40 you get to choose an appetizer (I had a wonderful salad and my husband had the delicious lentil soup) a generous main (I had the most amazing pork chop of my life, was so happy I can't remember hubbies food, though he was happy too) and a dessert ((I always go for the chocolate, so chose the chocolate chip cookie pie, though my husband's pistachio something or other was actually even better). Had a fabulous scotch that I'm going to have to find online, and the service was impeccable - attentive without hovering. This was by far our best meal in Chicago.

Great steak and great service. Stopped in without reservation with 5 other co-workers. Were promptly seated in bar area and had a wondeful meal and experience. Steaks were awesome. Great atmosphere.

Fthe food, atmosphere and service was spectacular what a great evening. The steaks were perfectly cooked we shared a salad a loaded potato so full.

Very high prices - place was packed. I have no idea why. There were 6 of us and all of us later commented about how really sub-par the food was. I ordered an aged ribeye at $50+ and it was so bad that I could not find anything in the piece on my plate that was worth it. I ate 4 bites and left it. And I was hungry. Go someplace else.

It’s no joke that there are a lot of steakhouses in Chicago. Some of them are good, some them leave you very disappointed. You can spend a lot of time and a lot of money trying to hit them all. What I love about the Kinzie Chophouse is it’s consistency. Every time we visit I can depend on the following:l 5 things: 1. Very good, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. 2. Very clean restaurant…always nice! 3. The food is always really good and prepared perfectly. 4. Good cocktails 5. I always leaving feeling like I got more then what I paid for.

I cannot say enough but this excellent restaurant. My wife and I along with 5 other couples were recommended to this restaurant by Michelle at Kimpton Allegro hotel. We were visiting Chicago for the weekend. We arrived at 4:30 and were greeted by Aideen Walker and Julian Rios. We were treated like family. Julian served us drinks and then he shared his expertise on all the excellent steaks that they serve. They group had an excellent time. A huge benefit was that the split the bills per couples. We were at another restaurant the previous night where we had to split up a single bill which included food and all the drinks. What a pain. We love the Chophouse and will be back. Thank you Aideen and Julian

We booked reservations for anniversary and it was the best one yet. The service was fantastic, our server was Rob and he was very enthusiastic. The food was fantastic and my steak was delicious. We ordered the filet mignon with bone and the flavor was superb. Atmosphere was warm and romantic. I will be back and will recommend many times at the hotel I work at. Thank you Rob for your warm welcome to Kinzie Chop house. P.s Get the blackened scallops.

Super meal, steaks done just right. Brussel sprouts were awesome service way above the rest. Great experience!

We came here for dinner and were seated right away. The service was great. I ordered the grilled meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The portions were substantial given the higher price point. The onion rings are very good-the best I’ve had in a long time.

I dined with two of my friends, We each had dined here before. I had noticed that the restaurant had a Spring menu special through 06/20/2017. The menu offered 3 courses for $40 or $59 with a wine pairing. I opted for cream of artichoke soup (other option goat cheese napoleon), Lake Michigan perch (also offered lamb risotto or duet of two 4 oz filets) and banana cream tart (rather than lemon custard pie). My friends ordered from the regular menu: one had salmon another had a different filet offering. My friends each had wine from the wine menu and had generous 9 oz pours. The wine pairings with my meal were small servings. Regarding the food, the soup and tart were excellent. The perch did not live up to my expectations--I had anticipated the Phil Smidt (long gone Indiana restaurant specializing in perch) style perch, as I recall lightly coated in corn bread and sauteed in butter. These perch could have used less corn bread and much more butter. My friends were pleased with their entrees Our server Rob was excellent and knowledgeable. He mistakenly brought a glass of red wine with my fish and when told brought a replacement and comped the red. He also comped a dessert to be shared by my friends.

I had a great experience at this restaurant. My cousin was in town and wanted to try a nice steak house. We decide to try Kinzie Chophouse. The service was excellent. Our server made great wine and menu suggestions. The ambiance is very nice. The bar area offers happy hour specials and I will definitely return soon for that. Overall the price and value was very reasonable; it does not break the budget. There are a variety of options on the menu if you do not want something other than steak.

For our first-time visiting Chicago we were looking for a nice "chophouse" that wasn't too pretentious but had a good reputation all the same. Kinzie Chophouse fit the bill and if we return to Chicago we'll go back again. We arrived a couple of minutes early for the reservation and the manager greeted us and offered us a table at the bar or the dining room, we went with the dining room. The atmosphere was inviting and elegant without appearing either dainty or a wood paneled study ready for cigars and whisky. Our waitress, Dominic, was the perfect mix of catering to our needs and leaving us to our meal and conversation. We ordered the Cowgirl steak and it was delivered perfectly cooked (Med Rare) and seasoned. The apps and sides were delicious and added to the meal. Definitely put this female-owned gem on your list of places to visit in the windy city.

We had a large group but once we were seated, our order was taken quickly and we did not have to wait too long for our food. I enjoyed the steak salad and it was fabulous!

I was in Chicago for business meeting. I asked the concierge for a recommendation which was Kinzie Chophouse. Ambience was most pleasing, white tablecloths added to overall atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and definitely well trained. I would like to give an excellent rating but the steak(NY Strip) was only very good as was the creamed spinach. I decided on a wedge salad which had an excellent blue cheese dressings with bacon chips. The wine was also good. Perhaps another steak would have allowed me to rate excellent. I do not think you will be disappointed.

What a nice restaurant! A very pleasant experience from the greeting at the door to getting the check. The service we received from Jared was low-key and impeccable: he was helpful and did not hover, he explained the various cuts of steak is a kind and simple manner, and he expertly sorted out our party's need for a mix of meat and vegan dishes. The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. The wine list is extensive and has a good range of both affordable and expensive choices. I heartily recommend the Kinzie Chophouse for your next visit to Chicago.

An easy location in river north this is nice place to get a bite. The chophouse title is enough for me. In Chicago you better be on it or you won’t last. Sat at the bar so it’s an easy meal. But the white tablecloths and professional approach makes this a good quiet experience. Great chopped chicken salad.

It took ages to pick up the order. Tables are packed and it is noisy. Waiting time also long and cold air blowing from the ceiling. This was at least switched off on request. On the positive side, the food was very good and our waiter, Insung, was very nice and tried hard. However, there are insufficient number of waiters in the restaurant. They work under permanent stress.

I was visiting from out of town and wanted to take someone out for a nice meal to celebrate a birthday. I didn’t know anything about this restaurant but after reading the reviews and menu, I decided on Kinzie’s. I don’t think that I could have made a better decision. There were three in our party and everyone raved about the food and drink. One in our group ordered a Charred Pineapple Margarita and after trying it, I regretted that I hadn’t gotten one. One member and I ordered the dry aged lamb chops. Although they were more expensive than the regular lamb chops, they were the best that I have ever eaten. They were incredibly tender and had a wonderful flavor. The other diner ordered the porterhouse steak. Although this is not something I order, I tried his and it was delicious. We were celebrating a birthday and the three of us ordered the chocolate cake to share. The restaurant did not charge us for it, which meant a lot. The service was outstanding. Our server was knowledgeable and personable. I was very pleased with my selection of restaurant.

Ate here with some colleagues who all love their steaks. As someone who does not eat beef, I was still impressed with the food. I order a fish dish which was excellent. Service was excellent and staff were friendly and attentive. Cost wise, someone else was paying the bill, so I can't comment.

Saturday night dinner for a group of 8 of us and everything was 5-star. From the food, to the service, to the ambience and warmth of the restaurant was outstanding. We skipped the appetizers and chose to have multiple sides instead (Risotto, brussel sprouts, creamed spinach, and Mac/cheese). All were good selections. Multiple people had the 6 ounce filet and said it was plenty of food, however a little pricey for 6 ounces. A couple of us had the meatloaf, which was a pretty big serving, and good. The remainder of the group had the Ahi Tuna and had no complaints. If you like whiskey try the Beaming Side Car. Dessert included the decadent chocolate cake and the carrot cake. Nothing special but good. Enjoy a 5-star dining experience!

Awesome personal service by Rob, great suggestions, good wine. Sesame tuna was best my wife had. Bone in filet good, Brussels sprouts tasty

The food was just okay. My prime rib was on the chewy side. Our waiter was probably one of the worst we ever had. He was asked if we could get horseradish for our meat. Not only did we not get it but then never saw him again until it was time to pay the bill. We had to ask the gentleman that poured water if we could get our bill. Not once did he stop by to check to see if we needed anything or how we were enjoying the meal. We were using some points from Open Table to pay the bill. When he came with the bill he said, what tomfoolery was happening with the bill” which stunned us - unbelievable! It was clear on the bill. This restaurant is now on the bottom of our list.

OMG the event was above my expections. The wines were amazing - the pairings were spot on, thank you CHEF. At first I thought it might get congested at the stations, however, that was not the case once you were pasted the entry way. Kudos go out to all the stations as they were very informative on the regions and types of wines offered. We were fortunate enough that that the chef came out to quickly greet us. I cannot not say enough good things about the event, yet I CAN. Susan the owner decided that to celebrate her 20 year at Chop House she would fundraise for the the Valentine Boys and Girls Club. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

I found it overpriced for the quality. I brought a bottle of wine for BYOB then bought cocktails which cost $40 for two. Often I find when you buy something from the bar they don’t charge corkage. When I asked them to open the wine they said they didn’t do that anymore. They said people were abusing it, bringing six bottles and such. I said, well not me, I bought cocktails, I brought one bottle and I’ll pay corkage. They said they’d make an exception and then charged me $45 for corkage. ‘Nuff said.

Celebrated a family milestone birthday dinner here and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The waitstaff service was impeccable and food was delicious. Thanks for a great dinner!

Really nice place to grab a steak and sit at the bar. Nice dining room as well. Good wine selection, easy to enjoy in the bar without a reservation. Give it a try!

I have been coming for 27 years. The service remains great but the quality of the meat has gone down. Still affordable for a steakhouse however

We recently had a wonderful dinner at the Kenzie Chophouse. Beginning with our waiter, Julian who was attentive and provided us with excellent recommendations regarding the cuts of meat and sides. The steaks were prepared perfect and the sides delicious. To top it off a surprise birthday dessert. When in Chicago in the future, the Kinzie Chophouse will be a stop for special occasions or dinner.

We had dinner at Kinzie Chophouse Friday night at 7 pm. I was there with my three young adult children and had a wonderful meal. Second time there. The server was not great, but the food was great. We were seated early at 6:50 pm. At 8:15 pm, after we had paid over $500 for dinner for four of us, the host came up to us and said that there was a 90 minute dinner policy now and that we had used up our time. The table next to us had 6 people of older people and had been there longer than us and nothing was said to them. It was completely rude and weird. On the way out, I stopped and told the host that I thought that was rude and a poor way to end what was a fabulous meal. He apologized and that was that. Then, the next day, on OpenTable where I made the reservation for the meal, Kinzie Chophouse canceled my reservation intentionally after we had already eaten there so that I could not leave them a negative review. Funny thing is I was not going to leave a negative review anyway, but now that they did that I think that shows they are intentionally trying to hide a negative review and we will never go back. Too bad because it was a great place to go and we had been there before. Never again because that shows bad character to me about the restaurant.

So many great Chicago steakhouses and we still keep going back to kinzie-for more than 20 years! It’s our family favorite and always get taken care of. Thank you for a couple of decades of excellent food service and hospitality!

Attended a business dinner. Overall, pretty disappointing considering the other reviews. Biggest issue is they may run up the tab on you if you have a larger group. The wine will flow like water, but with a higher price point. I searched through historical reviews and found a similar issue in the past. The first course was a lobster bisque served cold and with no lobster in it. It took about 30 minutes to get the first course. I think it was supposed to be served warm. Second, the main course (halibut) was excellent but the sides were cold. For a restaurant at this price point, the food should be hot. And the service should be experienced. We got neither. All I can say is the consensus with our group is that we won’t be back to Kinzie’s.

Chicago is known as a meat lovers city and this restaurant helps with that rumor. The steaks/ribs/chops are terrific. Service is excellent, the ambience is very comfortable and it's a great place for a special get together.

I was pleasantly surprised at the design of the dining room. Brilliant white paint was used with great effect on the trim creating an inviting, warm and comfortable dining room. The menu is quite traditional with the usual steak offerings. I did thoroughly enjoy the ribeye - most tender and cooked exactly the way I wanted it. You won't be disappointed in the sides. Prices, not surprisingly, are on the high side running $24 to $60 for steaks. If you're looking to splurge you won't be disappointed.

OMG! This steakhouse is A Must do. Don't let the white table clothes intimidate you! We walked in & were made to feel at home. There was 5 of us so we all tried a little of everything. The food amazing & Service impeccable.. well worth it.

Staff was the most knowledgeable staff on the subject of their selections I have ever encountered. Old world chophouse ambience. Excellent food. Very convenient location.

Excellent meal.. great service... steaks cooked perfectly ... great selection of wines by the glass... would be happy to return again

This was my first time eating at Kinzie Chophouse. The food was amazing. The service was elegant and attentive in an appropriate manner. I’m glad I decided to eat at this restaurant.

Ordered on line at 5:00 for a 6:30 pick up. Showed up at 6:20 to hear that they were not sure when our food would be ready. At 8:00 they still could not tell us when our food would be ready (1 1/2 hrs late with no sign of food). In house diners were getting served, but we were not?? I asked for a refund, which Nicole (manager) was a bit irritated by and could not provide a credit receipt and was further irritated when asked for documentation of the credit. Food may have been good, but will never know.

We were there last week. The service was impeccable and the food was very good. They even made some blackened salmon which was among the best that I’ve ever had. It wasn’t on the menu, but they were very accommodating. I would definitely return!

I had high expectations after hearing great recommendations from several people. I came away underwhelmed and will not be going back. Service was bad, steak was under cooked and the cookie dessert was cold and tasteless. The one redeeming aspect was the prices were reasonable, but maybe you get what you pay for.

Seven of us ended here because someone screwed our reservation at another restaurant. One of the luckier screwups in a very long time. Kenzie easily accommodated us and we had a wonderful time. The service was excellent and the entrees were also excellent. My 6oz filet was perfectly cooked (MR) and had a wonderful flavor. Others had the 14 oz Delmonico, Salmon, Risotto, NY Steak that was shared by two, crab cakes and a salad. All were very pleased with their selection. The one who ordered the crab cakes said it compared favorably with one she enjoyed in Maryland. The sides of onion rings, whipped potatoes, mac and cheese, baked potato and brussels sprouts were large enough to share but only the baked potato was finished by the group. Nothing was bad but just not the reason one might return to Kinzie. The worse aspect of the food was plate garnish. Everyone received a little pastry "K" that was cute if not tasty but mine lay on a "bed" of what appeared to be the bottom of the bag leafy green stuff. It wasn't lettuce or parsley. I don't know what it was but it was remarkably unattractive. The green stuff was wilted and discolored and look like it had been sitting on the plate for quite a while. A bad surprise at a white tablecloth restaurant. Yes, I would return.

We were actually recommended this restaurant when I called for reservations at another steak house. Total win win for our family. We were greeted by Rob, who is an amazing server! My guys really love a good steak. Rob recommended the bone in filet or the porterhouse. They ran out of the porterhouse so the manager, Bob came out with a complimentary NY strip in addition to the bone in filet. They finished every delicious bite! I had the home town beer Bob suggested, it was amazing as well! In summary, Bob & Rob made our steak dinner family night in Chicago simply amazing!

Our party of 4 dined on a quiet Monday evening. The food was excellent: pork belly appetizer is a must try and the oysters were delicious. Our steak were good though slightly overcooked and the sauces were not awe-inspiring. The signature whipped potatoes were very good and buttery. The service was friendly but not particularly polished. The real let down was the wine list. There were like 10 red wines total from no-name wineries. Nothing from Europe at all. Prices were good, but there wasn't an excellent wine among them to order. At a steakhouse the wine list should look like a bible! We were introducing our teens to steakhouse dining and they enjoyed themselves and now know how to order steaks. They didn't care about wine so mission accomplished but really Kenzie's? You need a sommelier.

We were in town for the Cubs rally and parade on a Friday afternoon. The city was insane that day with the 5 million plus people. Most restaurants were packed with very long waits. We stumbled across this place and decided to give it a shot. We figured since it was upscale it wouldn't be as crowded. Thankfully we were right. There were a good choice of drinks (full bar) and many affordable lunch options on the menu. I opted for the filet. It was delicious! The sauce served with it really enhances the flavor as well. Everyone I was with fully enjoyed their meals. We decided to splurge and order desert. As good as the entrees were, this was the best part of the meal. The pistachio semifreddo was to die for!!! I thought I had died and gone to heaven eating this. I HIGHLY recommend trying it! Overall good food, good service, and fair prices. You can't go wrong here.

We went with 14 people. The atmosphere was great. It was not overly loud and conversations were not strained. My Delmonico steak was superb even compared to other top Chicago steaks restaurants. Service was just right with enough to never wait, but not intrusive. The training is obviously goodThis is my favorite Chicago steak place, but there are several that I have not tried. The sides were very good. I had mushrooms.

I wish I had taken a picture of my filet mignon. It was delicious! Ordered the filet and the mac and cheese and it was some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had. The filet was melt-in-your-mouth and I got mine with the parmesan crusted topping which just added to the deliciousness. Our server was very attentive, answered all our questions, and checked back with us to see how we were doing quite frequently. Only thing was I ordered key lime pie for dessert and it was not tart like key lime pie should be and it was just too sweet. Other than that, it was one of the most delicious dinners I've had in a long time!

Made reservations for a Friday night. Came in at 8pm. Immediately started ordering and the nightmare began. 4 different steaks we ordered were not available. The person taking our order was not even aware of what was available, so we ended up ordering a particular cut of beef in two different moments just to be told after a while that they were not available. This was a regular Friday, nothing special going on in town, so only the restaurant is to blame for such terrible service. Yes, we were comped a round of drinks, but that does not compensate for the aggravation of not being able to order what we were offered several times. I will definitively not return to this restaurant nor will i recommend it to any of my friends.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the intimate setting of Kinzie Chophouse, giving the place a cozy feeling. With two small dining rooms, we chose a table by the window in second dining room, where the bar is located. Our servers were professional, attentive and very knowledgeable, answering any and all questions without sounding arrogant or down putting. We've dined at similar restaurants where servers sound as though they are talking down to patrons rather than educating guests. My impression is that the person who makes the hiring decisions for front of the house staff has a discerning eye and follows up with training to ensure an excellent meal with wonderful dining experience. Kinzie serves two types of prime beef - wet aged and dry aged beef; while the dry aged sounded interesting, we opted for the wet-aged steaks largely because we preferred the smaller portions. But our server"s explanation did make us curious enough to give dry-aged beef a go the next time we see it or the next time we visit Kinzie. Last comment - our server also doubled as bartender and made the smoothest Moscow Mule ever! No photos of the wonderful steaks - we were so hungry when the steaks arrived and they were so delicious that I forgot to take pics.

We picked this knowing nothing about it. It was perfect for our family birthday dinner. We met in Chicago from Maryland, California and Illinois. We celebrated two birthdays and had wonderful food and service. The atmosphere and seating were perfect. We were all very pleased with our meals. Definitely a good choice.

Friends who are locals told us to we had to come here. Totally worth it, from the Scottish gin my husband discovered for his gibson (and they have a selection of tonics, for connoisseurs of G&Ts), to the shaved Brussels sprouts salad to the shaved pickles... oh, and , of course, the aged Delmonico steak. Yum. We ate at the bar. Fantastic service. And the wines by the glass are quite nice.

Went for the first time to celebrate 2 family birthdays. Is conveniently located right across from parking garage. It’s small but does have an attached bar. Steak was tender & delicious; service was excellent. Would definitely go again

We went here as a group of 12. The waiter was just AMAZING, the food was amazing! We wanted a great dining experience and that is just what we received.

We ate at Kinzie Chop House on Sat. 12.07.19. We found the atmosphere very inviting. Classy with linens on the table, quiet enough to converse with our party of 6, and a great menu selection. The cost of meals was reasonable but not in-expensive at around $130 for two with the tip.

The place is refined with nice waiters. The menu offers meat and fish dishes also lactose-free r gluten. The wine list also offers good Italian qualities. The price is appropriate to the food

Took my family of 4, had great appetizers, the lettuce wraps and crab cake were so good. Good cocktail. Enjoyed the filet and cowgirl cuts, as well as the sides. Would definitely return. Thank you Kinzie!

The $40-50 steaks nearly scared us away, but that isn't the Chophouse's whole story. We had a fabulous late lunch with the Lamb Ciabatta ($16.95) and Crab Cake ($14.95) sandwiches. The tender lamb was on a roll crisped to perfection with just enough hummus for great flavor and arugula to eat separately or put on the sandwich. The delicious crab cake sandwich came similarly with a tasty sprout slaw salad and outstanding crunchy beetroot chips. No skimping on my black Russian cocktail; my husband's wine (which can be ordered in 6 or 9 oz) came in an individual carafe. Modern black and white decor illuminated the comfortable seating with some booths available. This is the closest white tablecoth restaurant to the Merchandise Mart with no reservations needed for weekday lunch.

Had a bone in filet. It was very good, but not special. Service was good, but not excellent. Appetizers were very good 😍- really the best thing. The shrimp meatballs were terrific. Sides with the meal were good. The mushrooms were excellent. I found it to be a very good, but Chicago average steak house.

We were able to get seated without reservations, luckily, the place was near full. :-) Had lovely steaks, great sides. Very pleasant staff!

I've been coming to this restaurant for years on business and it is a decent place. The prices are through the roof and it is very expensive. Portions have gotten smaller. I feel there are better dining options and encourage the management to re-evaluate their current practices.

A random choice of a restaurant (where we did not have to wait for hrs) became a great dinner among 7 friends. Loved the atmosphere for a good conversation while enjoying the delicious dinner. Staff very friendly and the good menu range for drinks and food! Simply loved the tuna and cocktail.

I'm a 72 year old american dining with his wife and daughter on a Sunday night after a Cub game. What a nice place, good service, good food and price is reasonable. I and my daughter ordered the 'silver cut' filet (6 oz) and my wife ordered the meat loaf. I ordered medium well and they suggested it be butterflied. My daughter ordered hers medium. Both steaks came out exactly right, tasted really good, and the sauces were perfect. I had the Bearnaise and she had the peppercorn. They offer several others. My wife said the meatloaf was very good. Ambiance is very nice, not too loud. Decorations very appropriate. They have a huge wine list and some exclusives which they get at auction from Napa. I was driving so I didn't drink but they had no less than 3 Cabernet Franc which is my favorite. Service was excellent and knowledgeable. They present a platter of their different steaks and explain a lot about them. Price was quite reasonable for a high end steak house.

Great late night dinner! Wonderful filet, loved the bacon mac and cheese as well. Staff was very attentive and efficient. Pretty dining area, we had reservations in place, but on a Sunday night at 8:30, we could've probably just walked in. Carrot cake dessert was warm and yummy, with cream cheese frosting on the side, along with ice cream. Nice way to finish our day!

The food was excellent. The steaks looked great but were pricey. I had boneless short ribs over risotto which was excellent. My friend had their Lobster tail and loved it. Our waiter was personable and helpful. There are many wines available by the glass and are reasonably priced. It also has a nice "City" atmosphere. Cozy with an old time steakhouse atmosphere.

You will need reservations - especially if there is an event at the nearby Merchandise Mart. This was our second visit to Kinzie Chophouse. The steaks are amazing. Our waiter said he has worked for the company for 5-years and he was one of their newest waiters. He had only great things to say about his employer and co-workers. The restaurant is packed at dinner time, but the staff manages the crowd well.

Food was good. Service was great. Staff very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Rafael our waiter was fantastic!

Went here for lunch because we were attending a show at the Merchandise Mart and this restaurant was across the street. Turns out the salads we ordered were so good we returned for lunch the following day as well. The restaurant has service and table turnover perfected. The service was great, there was no wait even though the restaurant was crowded. I will definitely return when back in Chicago.

Our party ordered prime rib, filet and short ribs along with vegetable sides The meal was cooked to perfection. Excellent, attentive service. Just a really pleasant Saturday evening dining experience.

While many steak houses tend to be dark, the atmosphere of Kinzie Chophouse is very light and airy. Our favorite appetizer is the grilled scallops which are served with grilled onions and a delicious sauce. The sesame crusted ahi tuna is our favorite entrée. It is seared rare and served with a pasta accompanied by sliced ginger and wasabi. The wait staff are very knowledgeable about the entire menu and wine list and are very attentive. Kinzie Chophouse is a favorite restaurant of ours because it is consistently excellent.

We had a Board dinner here while meeting in Chicago. The restaurant is clean, inviting, and attractive (especially for being an historic building). We were able to have seating for tables of 6, which I love. The servers were kind and personable and efficient. More sophisticated palates enjoyed the wines and mixed drinks, and I was able to get a glass of Moscato to soothe the way. The Caesar salad was lovely and crisp; the colorful cooked carrots were flavorful, and the potato puree highly addictive (I'd go back just for the potatoes. They were incredible.) The filet medallions were exactly correct and juicy. Our vegetarians were delighted to get a Lion's Mane Mushroom steak instead of the boring old pasta option, and I heard the salmon was a big hit from the salmon contingent. I'm not much of a dessert person, but people were murmuring appreciatively. We'll come back again!

Diner beware! I will go straight to the point here. Our order by an arrogant waiter was totally screwed up. My wife clearly ordered the winter menu, the waiter repeated it back to us, he got two out of three dishes incorrect. The bread for the soup was served as dessert, the dessert simply did not turn up. The main meal was served as she was eating her starter, he simply said "i will leave this beside you". The manager asked if everything was OK, i explained what was happening, she apologized and then left, with the dishes. Waiter avoided us for the rest of the night. Interesting the bill still reflected the cost of all items consumed. You know, if you want to play in the big league as a named steak house then get your act together. Poor experience for us, lastly not sure why this restaurant needs to rename cuts of beef!

Very recommendable. The service is really great. The appetizers were really goods. As main I hade the aged 16 oz delmonico. I would give it at 7 out of a 10

Excellent service and very engaging. Food was excellent and very nice ambiance. Most of us had steaks but a couple had fish and said it was excellent. The Mushroom Risotto was very good too.

My wife and I went to Kinzie’s for our anniversary dinner and both had a filet. Mine was the ribeye filet which was more flavorful than my wife’s, but both were outstanding and prepared perfectly. For sides we had mushrooms and sweet potato mash which were also very good. Our waiter was attentive to our needs and friendly.

I've eaten at Kinzie's many times over the years with a business group of 8 people. I was stunned at how expensive it has gotten. It has always been an expensive place to eat but you felt the food was worth it. Now it is priced way too high and you feel the quality does not live up to the cost. My prime rib was good but not that good. It would be nice to see smaller portions instead of 16 - 24 ounce steaks.

Enjoyed a nice meal before seeing a musical. Table was comfortable and private. Doors open to street where there is some outside seating. We had the filet, ribeye, ribeye filet (excellent!), and NY strip streak, whipped potatoes, fries, creamed spinach (delicious), and the jumbo baked potato for sides. Enjoyed the bruschetta and wedge salad to split as appetizers which were both very good. They chppped the wedge salad for us prior to bringing to the table since we had 3 kids to share it with which we appreciated. The bruschetta was some of the best I've ever had. The sides were a tad small for family sharing, so consider ordering an extra. Our steaks were ordered medium and a couple were not quite done (steaks are cut thick) but were quickly scurried back to the kitchen to be finished and brought back within a minute and were perfect. The service was attentive, bathrooms were clean, menus are quite large so something for everyone and there is a kids menu which is sometimes hard to find at a "fancy" restaurant.

This is one of our usual dinner spots and this time I have to say, we were thoroughly disappointed. The menu has been cut down big time (due to Covid) but they have not yet updated that online or open table. So we were a little bummed at the smaller menu. The menu we did receive showed crab cakes as an appetizer, but when we ordered, we were told that they are now shrimp cakes. This was the same case for the wine we ordered. Wine lists was different than what was shown on the menu. We also had to pay cash because credit card machines were down. Luckily we had enough! We have always loved this place but not quite the same as it had been. I get staffing shortages etc but I hope it is better next time we come!

Very disappointed with Kinzie, my first time in, I went for a business diner and eat the lobster chauder as a starter that was good and after a bourbon ribeye that was poorly done and not well cook, quite average for the price they charge. As a dessert I had the signature carrot cake, not bad but again quite disappointed for a restaurant that is supposed to by high end so I wouldn’t recommend it, there are much better places for the same or lower price in town.

We were discovering Chicago and came to this place by coincidence. We ordered steak, spinach & potatoes. All was delicious & of high quality. It’s worth every penny spent. Definitely recommended!!

My boyfriend and I went for my belated birthday dinner. I had a special that was a steak with mushrooms and some kind of pasta - amazing and my boyfriend had just a steak with a side of their onion rings. The food was amazing and well worth the price. The staff was friendly and very attentive!

Kinsey Chophouse is a hidden gem. A cozy yet elegant ambience that sets the tone for a memorable dining experience. The service is outstanding—attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. Their specialty, aged steaks, truly stands out. Expertly salted and aged to perfection, the steak was incredibly tender—easily the best I’ve ever had, surpassing those from other renowned steakhouses. Rafael, the chief of staff took good care of us, ensuring our every need was met while thoroughly explaining the details of the steak and preparation. The staff, in general, were impeccably dressed—fresh and clean, which added to the overall upscale feel. We were served a complimentary mojito and dessert, which was a delightful touch. Highly recommended!

The food was wonderful, my lamb chops were delicious. Our guest stated their food was delicious as well, the sides were just as good. The cream spinach and mushrooms are a must. Service was a tad slow but we get it, it is hard to hire folks during these times. We would return when we return to Chicago. Good job Kinzie!

We ate here with our family over the holidays and all had nothing but good things to say about it. Seems like a family run steakhouse in the heart of downtown Chicago, and we had great service. I have to admit it wasn't very busy and we had a party of 7 but all staff were attentive and helpful with the different types of steaks and our questions. They gave my wife and I a "congratulations" cookie cake that was delicious, and took a family photo for us before leaving. Overall very solid steakhouse that might not be as well known as Morton's or the others but in my opinion much more like "home." Thanks Kinzie's

First time at this place. Didn't have a reservation so ate outside. A little warm but the meal was excellent. I am taking home left overs. May have to eat cold but I don't care. Sooo good. Would definitely come back but make reservations.

I can't begin to describe what a perfectly wonderful dining experience we had last night at Kinzie's. From the minute we walked into the door of the cozy but simply elegant dining room we enjoyed every minute! We started with a selection of appetizers ranging from bruschetta to blackened scallops; all were scrumptious! We split a wedge salad which was the perfect size and so delicious. We all ordered different types of steak with a few of their homemade steak sauces (complimentary). I had the ribeye filet which was absolutely one of the best and most flavorful filets I have ever tasted. We shared two sides; shaved Brussels sprouts and garlic whipped potatoes that were like velvet! We finished with an assortment of desserts and my favorite was the Oreo peanut butter. And where to begin to describe the vast and reasonably priced wine list??!!!! Finally, the service was impeccable with just the right amount of attention! Thank you Rob! Cheers to owner Susan Frasca!

This place WAS awesome .... Going there for years .... Recently sold ..... Not the same anymore ..... Susan, we miss you !!! ..... Average now .... Plenty of other choices available in the area, that now surpass KCH ....

Met here for dinner with a few work colleagues while in town for a business meeting. Our steaks were perfect, with a very nice selection of cuts. The service was fantastic and quick. All were please in our party with their meals and plan to return.

Whenever, w h e n e v e r in Chicago I go there. Years . Best Delmonico, either with or no bone-in, either a cowgirl cut. 14" to 18" weight. Best I have found so far. Medium, i.e. rosy throughout the cut. Incredible colour, incredible taste, no matter how slowly you eat it all, you tend immediately to regret you haven't ordered a bigger cut. Yes, there were appetizers and deserts, not too important for our story. Oh, the wine was l'Aventure tete de cuve 2014.

This was the best meal we had our entire trip in Chicago. The filet was perfect and our server was great!

Our steaks were perfect, mum's lamp chops were made as per her request. The service was excellent - perfect evening, highly recommended.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. Amazing food and empecible service. Truly a step above.

Kinzie Chophouse does really well for informing customers about the variety of steaks available and what is a good match for each person's taste. Very good service, excellently prepared steaks with good variety and flavor o side dishes and desserts!

Had a wonderful experience celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary at Kinzie Chophouse which was the first steakhouse that my wife and I loved once we were married. Upon checking-in, the host recognized us as a repeat customer and welcomed us back. Jose was our server and made it a wonderful time for us with great service and wonderful conversation. Our meals consisted of the following: Crab Cake appetizer, 8oz Medallions, 16oz Wet Aged 30 Days Delmonico Steak, Bacon Demi-Glazed & Potato Gratin and the Charred Heirloom Carrots, Asparagus & Broccolini. What an amazing meal!! For our anniversary, they treated us to the DECA Chocolate Lave Cake. Overall, another great experience at the Kinzie Chophouse. Definitely a steakhouse to try if you are in the downtown Chicago area.

Eight of us went out to dinner at Kinzie Chophouse, based on great reviews from Trip Advisor. It did not disappoint. Since there were so many of us, we were seated in the back room, which was nice as the tables in the main section did seem a little too close together. The service was attentive and friendly. The food (fish, chicken, and steak) was exceptional! It is pricey, and not necessarily something to splurge on everyday, but it was a nice treat. We were very pleased that they were willing to separate our checks. Check out Kinzie Chophouse for a great dining experience. Bonus: They take reservations.

Really like this place for a perfect Chicago steakhouse. Super large selection of options and impeccably prepared. I'm going to give it 4 stars only because I had a crappy negroni to start the evening (they should know how to make that well!), but the food and wine were great. Highly recommend.

We had dinner here last week and had a room for ourselves. (We were a group of 20.) I ordered the special which was a delmonico (side looked like mashed potato that has cheese and bits of bacon in it, prawns, and brocolli) and had it cooked medium rare. Order arrived and I loved it. Everyone in the group seemed to enjoy their orders. Expensive but it was worth it.

In Chicago for some RnR and looking to grab some vittles but too lazy yot walk far or grab a cab. FLASHBACK! This has happened before, in this very city and while staying at this very hotel. Lemme think what did we do...got it. Kinzie Chophouse, that's the ticket. It was hot and steamy after a summer shower but the 3 of us vibrated betwixt and between the raindrops and made it to Kinzie relatively dry and largely famished. She who must be obeyed had a filet and I opted for the 14 oz Delmonico and Bud had a filet as well. We decided the Jumbo baked potato and Chophouse salads all around would sew the deal up and leave room to split a bottle of fermented grape juice. Alls well that ends well for this sated band of tourists and the sun came out as we hoofed it back to the hotel to dream of the next day's activities. Kinzie delivers...again.

We came here with a relatively large group for dinner. First the pros. The service was on point the entire time. Not over bearing but there when you needed them to be. We had wine and cocktails quickly after being seated. The appetizers were tasty. The calamari was good, the mushroom pastry was also worth noting. I had a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives (highly recommend). The wine list is vast and the prices were not too bad for an upper end restaurant. Most everyone at the table had one type of steak or another. By the look of empty plates, I have to believe everyone liked their steaks (they said they did). I had the Delmonico steak and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare. The flavor was great. They season the steaks but it is not overpowering. There were two not so good parts of dinner. The sides were luke warm to cold that came with the meal. You order those ala carte of course. They brought a second order of mushrooms and they were as luke warm as the first. My guess is they have tons on the sidelines precooked and waiting for delivery. The second is the noise factor. The room was extremely loud. That takes away from the ambiance as you are trying to have dinner and conversation with your group. All in all, I would certainly go back. The two negatives did not ruin our night.

I love when local friends take you to a place where they want to show you a piece of their community. Kinzie is that place. I tried the small filet which was perfect so I could enjoy the appetizers (loved the bruschetta) and small bites from the dessert items. Give this place s try on one of your evenings in Chicago.

Dinner at Kinzie's was delicious. But that was to be expected by their reputation, quality of food, and menu. What wasn't expected didn't even happen to me, but to another diner. The service staff is professional in every sense of the word. They are well mannered, knowledgeable and kind. Yes, kind. A lone diner, woman, was seated by a window giving her a view of the world outside, No less than three different employees, including her wait staff and the host, came by multiple times. I noticed they always brought her something, water, extra napkins, clearing table, but what was unusual was the amount of extra time they spent with her. I never got the sense that she was alone, because these kind people paid attention to her! Says a lot about Kinzie. Kindness is a value.

Servers are incredibly educated and friendly. We were treated so well and serviced incredibly. Very intimate and perfect for a romantic dinner. We had steak and lobster tail which were amazing! A little pricey and you had to pay for all the sides, but worth it for a special occasion.

A decent chop house located in downtown DC. The steaks are good as well as the Mac and Cheese. Try the lamb chops if you can!

I had their special of the night which was a RibEye Filet and my wife had her typical Filet Mignon. Was outstanding. Also went on a Sunday night when they do 50% off on all bottles of wine.So had an incredible SuperTuscan for half off of $70, what is not to like about that. We had seen mention of the wine special on their website, I am sure they do not readily tell you about this when you walk in. Would highly recommend this steakhouse, and was great value

Had a business dinner here last week and it was very nice. Excellent selection to satisfy anyone from vegetarian to carnivore. Really like their soups, salads and sides. Cannot go wrong dining here. Wait staff were terrific as well.

I really wanted to like this place after so many good reviews. I realize restaurants have bad nights and this was one of them. 20 minutes for a waiter to come by after being seated. Slow service with little attention to the details. Food was just ok. In a city packed with great restaurants they need to do much better for me to return.

My husband I visited Kinzie Chophouse on Father's Day. It was a disappointing experience. The loud, contemporary, gym type music was annoying and obnoxious. It cheapened the entire experience. The inside of the restaurant is less than elegant. It is definitely nothing special. Entering and leaving the restaurant can be dangerous. There is a sloping step on which anyone can trip or slip. The meal was uninspiring. My husband ordered a rib eye steak. It was small and looked more a filet mignon. It definitely was not worth the price. He did not like the mac and cheese. The dinner roll basket was ridiculous. In the basket were two, very small sweet bread rolls that would normally be served at breakfast or at a tea party along with large, flaky crackers. I asked the server if they offer real dinner rolls and he said no. On the plus side, if you are a vegetarian, they do offer appetizers, sides, and entrée options. I ordered the Beyond Meat burger and it was good. I didn't appreciate the $1.00 extra for substituting mashed potatoes for fries. I have never been charged extra anywhere for this type of substitution. Also, the service was good. I would recommend trying other steak restaurants in downtown Chicago and its suburbs. We will not be back.

Susan Frasca, Thank you! We had one of the best times at your establishment on Friday - April 7th, 2017. Normally, I would be dreading taking this group of 17 men out to dinner as one group. We get together every year for the NCAA Frozen Four - no matter where it is. It is our once a year "bonding" weekend and keeping current on what everyone is up to. We all met while in college - the University of ND. Hockey takes up two full days for us during the NCAA Frozen Four weekend and we always try to take in a nice dinner near our hotel on the Friday night between days! As you may imagine - with all guys .. and a few drinks, we can get a little loud by the end of the meal. At the suggestion of Kathryn Colbert, Kinzie Hotel, I called Samantha Klotz who was absolutely wonderful to work with and suggested that we use the private room upstairs which was perfect. We so enjoyed ourselves.. laughed and sang! Didn't worry about how loud we got as we knew no one could hear us. Your staff even gave us the ipod control for the music system which my young nephew enjoyed playing DJ. Our last song played to a darkened room, lit by our phones with a candle showing .. as we all sang along arm-in-arm to FREE BIRD! Now .. the food .. drinks .. service .. Impeccable .. outstanding and to perfection. Most of us are spoiled with great beef (born and raised in North Dakota) and love nothing better than a great steak -- and that you all served up to perfection! Everything was! And the "icing on the cake" was your "Service Ambassador" - Carlos Hernandez. What a gentleman! He was remarkable in keeping tack of 17 "lively" gentlemen who kept switching chairs to circulate. And at the end of the night when all the dust settled and I went to shake his hand.. he actually pulled me in for a hug. It was perfect and showed respect and appreciation for his recognition of friendships that are going on 50 years. I am so honored to have had the experience with you and your staff at the Kinzie Chophouse - which maybe does serve up the best steaks in town.. but for all of us we feel that actually falls second to your customer service! Thank you! Guy Abernathey

We were able to get reservations here at the last minute on a Friday night. We tried several others, but were out of luck. We were quickly seated. The place has a nice atmosphere. If there was music, I couldn't hear it, as the door was open for outdoor dining, even though it was barely 50 degrees out. We were cold. My wife got shrimp scampi, I opted for the tenderloin 8oz. For drinks, I ordered what I was guessing was a Caymus red. The menu indicated king of cabernet. Both meals were very good as too was the service. Clean bathroom.

Went there to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and had such an incredible time! If you ever get the chance to meet the manager Liz she such a kind individual and truly exemplifies service there at Kinzie! The classic beef meatballs on the menu were so good! When you go please ask about their signature sangria it is so good too! This is a wonderful spot for families too if I can recommend!

I visit Chicago often on business and most of the time I have dinner at either Chicago Cut or Bavette’s both because of convenient geography near my hotel, and their elite status among Chicago steakhouses. The atmosphere of both is bustling and vibrant. I attempted to get into both of my regular spots this past Wednesday, October 17, but both were completely packed with no seating available in either the restaurant or the bar. I decided to check out Kinzie due to its relative close proximity to where I was. I don’t really have any complaints, but I did find it to be very average for both food quality, service, and ambience. The prices are a little more friendly than the other two regular stops, but it totally makes sense why. There was nothing special about the vibe and the service was only a little better than average. I would recommend this restaurant if you’re looking for a lower-priced option steakhouse. However, I will likely continue to opt for Chicago Cut or Bavette on future trips.

I was very excited to visit a Chicago Chophouse... disappointed. The good: The service was excellent! The bread delicious, and the mushroom risotto was fresh and tasty. The bad: The Delmonico was dry and overdone; My wine at almost $20 per glass was at mediocre quality at best. The ugly: I could've chosen a less expensive meal, but, it's a Chicago Chophouse! For $95 with tip - for a solo meal, after a long day at a conference, so not worth it!

I chose Kinzie Chophouse based on reviews and its reputation as a fine steakhouse for a special reunion dinner my wife and I were having with my best friend from college (and his wife). I hadn’t seen him face to face in person for 34 years. I even checked out their wine list and had them decant a red wine I chose 24 hours before we arrived. The service by our waiter, Craig was perfect, and all the side dishes were very tasty, but they made the massive mistake of over cooking my wife’s steak and mine (we got the dry aged - bone in Delmonico cut of rib-eye). We ordered them medium rare (as one should in a fine steakhouse and as our waiter recommended. My wife’s steak came well done - it had NO PINK left in it. She hadn’t even cut it open far enough to check the color when she said, “Ah oh, my steak is overdone!” When I asked, Are you sure?” She said, “ It’s very tough to cut through. It feels way too hard and dry to be medium rare.” Only then did she peer inside it and say, “Yup! It’s well done.” I cut mine open and mine was on the tail end of medium; still some pink, but barely. When you’re paying $40 to $50 for a steak in a place that represents itself as a fine steakhouse that is suppose to have mastered the technique of cooking their steaks consistently, how on Earth do the screw up so badly. My wife’s steak wasn’t just “a little overdone,” it was ruined. Mine was still edible, but it sure wasn’t how I ordered it. Even our waiter Craig took one look at them, agreed they were not what we ordered, apologized to us profusely and said he’d have them cook us another one. I told him I’d eat mine, which I did, and while still tasty it was tougher & dryer that it was suppose to be. The recooked steak they brought my wife was cooked medium rare, making me wish I’d sent mine back too, but her original steak NEVER should have even been brought out to her. The person cooking it should have known via, experience & training that her steak was ruined and simply started another one (and ideally not have screwed it up in the first place). Our meal for the four of us with wine, cocktails & dinner & dessert was over $650 - inexcusable at there prices to bring out a well done steak that was suppose to be medium rare.

If you're looking for a nice steak, there are better places in Chicago, such as Erie Café and Ruth's Chris. I had prime rib here and a friend had a dry-aged Delmonico, I think. They were both fine but neither of us finished and neither of us bothered to take the leftovers home. The calamari appetizer was under-seasoned. They advertise half price bottles of wine from their regular wine list on Sunday nights, but they don't give you the discount unless you mention it.

I traveled here for business and had a business lunch here...great ambiance and the food was amazing. I had the most delicious scallops ever in my life! Oh man...my mouth is watering just writing this and thinking about them!

The prices were good and the service excellent. It’s not a large place but needed a little updating. It’s elegant and a nice place for a business dinner. The delmonico I would give a 7 out of 10. The Caesar was good but a little small.

Had reservations with my husband for dinner tonight, however, my husband was called in to work. I came anyway, as I am 2 blocks away, and a girl needs to eat. Upon arrival and a bit sad that my reservation went from a party of 2 down to one, the Hostess, "Army" was fantastic! She made me feel right at home and confirmed that I did the right thing. She put me in the care of Michael Donovan in the bar area. Very nice area, however, not as open as the dining room it was was perfect ! I explained my situation and Michael was most gracious and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. My waiter, bartender, new friend Extrodinaire! I've been here several times, mainly dining outdoors in the summer and equally as lovely. I must say though that this evening has been extremely enjoyable for me. Fantastic service !

Went at 8pm on a Saturday night. The place was not crowded at all, and everything we had was delicious. I had the wet aged Delmonico; my wife had the filet; my brother had the NY Strip; and my sister-in-law had the blackened salmon and scallops special. Everything loved their food. My wife and I also added the scallops. They were done to perfection and were very tender. The baked potato was HUGE. Can easily be share by three people. We also had the creamed spinach, which was to die for. Our waiter, Troy, was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommended.

My daughter and I eat at Kenzie Chophouse every December when we visit Chicago. The staff are attentive and the food is great. Plan to visit again next year.

We visited Kinzies during our 5 day trip to Chicago to celebrate our anniversary. The service was great and the food delicious. We opted for just the main from previous experiences in US steak restaurants! We chose the porterhouse coupled with stuffed potato and macaroni. It was all cooked well and we polished it all off. A nice little touch was a card wishing us happy anniversary and providing a little sharing dessert at the end. Would definately recommend if you are in town looking for a quality steakhouse.

What a great steakhouse. Owned by the same owner for 20 years and with a staff who cares. We enjoyed a booth at the bar so my brother and I could watch some of the pre-season games while eating our steaks. We started with a salad and the baby goat cheese salad was fantastic! Went to the steaks... I had the 18 ounce bone in filet and it was amazing! Medium rare and perfect. Went well with a bottle from the special/rare red wines that the owner buys at auction (only 5-10 cases for sale at the smaller/boutique vineyards around the country) and it was great. The waitstaff was very friendly and taught us some things about single malts which we enjoyed a rare 25 year old MacAllan with our steaks. The night ended with a creme brûlée which was also done very well. Overall, the best of the three steakhouses we tried over the weekend in Chicago. Highly recommend this steakhouse!!

This is no exaggeration. A steak-loving visitor to Chicago could have dinner at a different steakhouse every night of the month and still have some left over. Yes, Chicago is a great town for steaks, for steakhouse chains and for local independent steakhouses. And more are on the way. In fact, it seems as though a new steakhouse opens up every week. The more, the merrier. One of the best and most established is Kinzie Chophouse at 400 North Wells Street in the bustling River North neighborhood. In its 27th year, Kinzie Chophouse combines steaks, seafood and house-made pasta with an award-winning bottled wine list. What's not to like? Friendly service, board-room atmosphere, soup-to-nuts menu, lunch or dinner, great variety. For lunch, I can't pass up the Kinzie Signature Burger, fresh ground beef with cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, mozzarella or Monterey Jack topped with lettuce, tomato and red onions. I prefer Swiss. Dinner always is a treat. Start with bruschetta, diced tomatoes, garlic, onion and basil over three toasted crostinis with Asiago cheese topped with aged balsamic. I always prefer bruschetta with cheese, a rarity. Of course, you could start with Kinzie's appetizer sampler, which includes bruschetta, calamari, scallops, beef or shrimp meatballs and gorgonzola strudel. A meal in itself. For an entree, I often choose 12-ounce Berkshire pork chop or 16-ounce New Zealand lamb chops or spaghetti and meatballs, eight-ounce filet or 12-ounce New York Strip. My wife loves the salmon and Pacific halibut. Dessert isn't a difficult choice. Through our travels to the South and Southeast, we have become addicted to key lime pie.

The appetizers were amazing, if only the dinner service had been the same. I ordered a $54 dollar steak and it was absolutely horrendous, it was cooked well done and it very grisly and fatty. I explained this to the waiter and he argued that's just the cut of meat. After 10 minutes the manager came and said she'll make a fresh piece that is actually steak. Maybe 15 minutes later they come out with the new piece and it was ok but by no means worth $50 something dollars.

Had a wonderful steak, cooked perfectly and served hot and juicy. This would be an excellent steak anywhere else but Chicago. The prices were quite reasonable for a quality steak in the city.

We'd been to Kinsie before. This time it did not perform. Service was professional and kind, but server was hard to find, never checked in, had to be flagged down. Two people noted that their steaks were ho-hum. At 60-190 per steak, everything should be exceptional. A plate of chicken was delivered raw in the middle (this was taken off the menu). The appetizers were tasty. Plenty of well thought out recipes, but at these exorbitant prices the food was really nothing special. I actually had a better meal the next night for $25. Wine recommendation was great. The atmosphere was also great. Quiet enough that you can actually talk to people. With many other great restaurants in Chicago, we're going to skip this in the future. Also, the restaurant cancelled our Opentable res after we dined (as if we didn't show), presumably so that we could not leave an honest review.

Our private room was hot part of our stay. The room was quiet enough to carry on a conversation and that was nice. There was not enough food for the table. The vegetables must have been in short supply and appetizers just enough to sample one small sample - about four bites. My steak was small and overcooked a little, but still good. The waiter staff was very good. This was a very good meal, but average for the area steakhouses. The high point was good service. I'd go back but I'd hope for more food and a cool room.

We have been coming here for years and couldnt have been more disappointed during our last visit. We had an Open table reservation and were told our table wasnt ready yet and to wait in a back corner of the restaurant. We literally waited over 40 minutes with 2 kids. It was utterly ridiculous. No apologies, nothing from staff or management . We brought wine to be corked and were informed that they now have a corkage fee. They never had one in the past. Service was terrible. Again no apologies for the poor service from a soul. Whats awful is that we have some wonderful memories here. Our server informed us that they are under new management and making lots of changes... The food was decent and so are the prices but it is definitely not worth the hassle for awful service. We will not be back!!

The food is good the service is good. The wine list is good and expensive. The Kinzie Chophouse is all that you would expect in a River North fine dining establishment. It is what you would expect. Nothing more. You won't go wrong here, but you won't have an exceptional experience. In another town this place would rock, in Chicago it is one of many.

My husband and I came here for my 30th birthday and it was perfect. Not a super trendy place that intimate and with great food and service. Also located in a great part of town. We left there and went straight to the Untitled which was walking distance.

My husband and I visited Chicago in October 2025! The Kinzie Chophouse was a must do on our list during our week visiting from Portland, Oregon as tourists! We love Chicago and definitely plan another trip! The Kinzie Chophouse is outstanding! The food was delicious and the attention by staff was first class. I became obsessed with the roasted vegetables in lemon vinaigrette - it was the best I’ve ever had! I highly recommend Kinzie Chophouse!

I recently had dinner at Kinzie Chophouse with a few colleagues. We attended a trade show at the Merchandise Mart and decided to try Kinzie Chophouse, conveniently located across the street. The staff of the restaurant was friendly and accommodated us even though we did not have a reservation. This restaurant has a more casual and relaxed feel to when compared to many of Chicago's steakhouse restaurants. The food was good, but the service although very friendly a little slow. I had the halibut which was excellent. My colleagues had steaks and they enjoyed their meals. Overall a good meal in a relaxed environment. Worth a look if you're in the area.

I prefer Texas Roadhouse, a little better, half the price. Ceasar salad looked like the type you buy at the supermarket in a bag, bread not cooked in center, steak overcooked.

We choose one evening for a great steak on Chicago. This place did not disappoint. 3 of the four of us had the fillet and they were very happy with it. I had the dry aged ribeye and it was fantastic! Our waiter explained each cut of meat and the difference between dry and wet aging. Sides were fantastic as well and enough to share two or three ways.

Best dinner ever. So friendly, nice atmosphere, best filet mignion...Thank you Kinzie. Go there and have a great meal!

We were there on Sat. 2/5/2022. We were celebrating a 27th birthday, and were a group of 12 guys. At the end of the evening, we were presented with a $5000 bill. Yes, no typos there, it was Five Thousand Dollars! Not only myself, but several of my dining partners were fairly certain that our bill had been "padded" considerably. I counted 8 (eight) bottles of wine on the liquor cart next to our table. We were having a good time and not keeping an accurate tally of apps., drinks, etc. But still, it's almost impossible to get to $5000 based on what we ate and drank. OK, I get it. Twelve young men aged 26-28 years old can drink their fair share. But still, FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS?? We all found the food to be "adequate" albeit plentiful. Then, they take the liberty of adding a 22% automatic gratuity??? None of us queried the waiter about the possibility of "padding" and thus, we didn't take the time to go through the bill with a fine tooth comb because we had no PROOF of wrong-doing, but felt totally ripped off upon our exit. I guess they saw a group of gregarious, late 20's dudes coming, and realized they'd hit the jackpot. But it should also be noted that of the 12 of us who were dining there (and none of us are on expense accounts) the vast majority said that we'd never return to the establishment. So, I guess in the end, the restaurant lost more than they gained, on our group at least, last Saturday night.

2 had the steak salad which was underwhelming and overpriced.... but it's downtown Chicago across from the mart. 2 had the greek salad with chicken as their protein. Greek salads were visually amazing and off the charts delicious. Highly recommend skipping the steak salad and highly recommend getting the greek salad which is NOT a lettuce salad.

Finalizing a business week in Chicago we went to this restaurant for dinner. While waiting for to be seated we stayed at the bar. A good drink and some fresh oysters prepared us for an enjoyable evening. After ordering and delivery of the food and the first bites I was very disappointed. The steak was really poor. The request for medium rare turned into medium done. The taste of the meet was equal to zero. I call it water beef. The other food was good, but the Kinzie's is called a steak house. I got there the worst steak experience in Chicago so far.

We went here to celebrate my best friend’s engagement and had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the sides- especially the corn and mashed potatoes. The dipping sauces for the steak, particularly the Gouda, made the filet spectacular for me.

We attended on a Saturday night while in town for a conference. Our group of 24 was in a private dining area upstairs and we had exceptional service. Staff was attentive and our appetizers were served family-style. We had a limited menu but the items on the menu all sounded great. I ordered the filet and it was cooked just right at medium rare (they say to have something other than medium rare you must request). We really enjoyed the mushroom appetizer as well. The wine list was extensive and I was impressed with the Cab Sauv. If you are needing a private space for a nice dinner, this is a good option.

The food was good, and the service was great. The price is obviously on the higher side, as you would expect from a restaurant like this. The reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that while everything was as expected, nothing really stood out or exceeded expectations.

Had a very nice Tuna Tartare followed by a tasty 14oz. Delmonico steak. Very good price/quality level.

My family ate there for my birthday dinner on a spontaneous overnight visit to the city. Kinzie's was near our hotel and came recommended by our hotel. Kinzie's far exceeded our expectations. My husband told them it was my birthday (something I ordinarily dislike, I don't like attention). But I was presented with a glass of bubbly almost immediately and with a beautiful dessert at the end! The food was superb...the crab cake and ahi tuna were top notch. My husband had a seafood special and raved about it, too. They had a kids menu that was well priced and my kids were very satisfied. The service was excellent!! Everyone was so friendly!!! Will definitely seek them out on future visits.

Visited Kinzie Chophouse for the first time during Chicago Restaurant Week. Arrived in time for Happy Hour and decided to sit in the bar area as opposed to the formal dining room as the bar area appeared to be more “upbeat”. My friend and I decided on the deviled eggs and stuffed mushrooms for appetizers. The mushrooms were delicious; the deviled eggs were okay but we didn’t care for the potatoes included. The pre fixe RW menu included a ribeye, asparagus soup, mashed potatoes and dessert. The temperature on the steak was great but it needed a little bit of steak sauce as the seasoning was a bit weak; other than that dinner was good. The highlight of the visit was the bartender; the happy hour Kinzie punch was excellent. I would return due to the Happy Hour alone but will enjoy a meal as well.
Underwhelming
We visited with a group after the Chicago Marathon and found Kinzie's to be very average for the prices we paid. Service was ok, nothing bad to say, but more was expected for what we spent. We were disappointed right off the bat as we were told which cuts of steak were NOT available including the filet. We ended up having the delmonico steak and lamp chops. I was hoping for something more tender, but found both entrees to be just ok. Appetizers were good, and aged whiskey were a hit with some in our group... If I'm back for the marathon, I'll choose elsewhere for the post race dinner
