Overall we had a nice time here. We came inside to see if they had an open table. They made a point to share that we would be taking someone else’s reservation. And when they offered us a table, they told us we would have 1 hour before another group would need our seats. Just weird to say idk. Aside from that, the waiter was kind and the food was delicious!

Lunch on Saturday with the Japanese in-laws. SERVICE: 4.5. Prompt, and very flexible in face of request to substitute tofu (for fish) in the Poki (to make it vegan-friendly). AMBIANCE: 4.0. Large, airy, clean, and attractive. FOOD: 4.0. - Sushi lunches: 4.5. Very good. - Tempura Udon: 4.0. - Poke Bowl: 3.5 (substituted tofu for the fish).

I don't frequent Japanese restaurants much, but when in Seattle this is one place I look forward to eating at. The sushi and California rolls are fresh and served very attractively. The serving staff are friendly and knowledgeable if you are unfamiliar with the menu. Many Japanese were eating here which is always a good sign authentic food is being served. A relaxing place for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed.

Four of us went to Kisaku Sushi for dinner on a Sunday evening. I highly recommend making reservations, as the restaurant is very popular with people of all ages. We were seated in the narrow area that leads to the private room. The lighting was extremely bright and shined right into the eyes of those seated facing the main restaurant, so we told the waiter and suggested that they fix that (the lights were not on a dimmer). We all ordered different sushi dishes and my husband ordered the sashimi dinner. The ingredients were very fresh and the dishes well presented. I had been here before for lunch, which is quite reasonably priced ($10-12 for a bento box).

Yum!

We've been here several times, even with a good friend that has lived in Japan. The food has always been very good as well as the service. Not so much anymore! We were very disappointed with all of the food-from a quantity, preparation, quality and service level. We started with spicy oysters and my fave, soft shell crab. The oysters were not juicy and overdone. The crab came with a "casing" of flour or cornstarch; you really couldn't tell there was a crab inside. Two of the specialty items on the menu were fresh-Spanish mackerel and one of the tunas. The sockeye sushi looked like it had been frozen. The fingers were also small. The waiter also forgot one of our key dishes and had to be reminded several times. With all of the good sushi in Seattle, this one is certainly off the list! Oh yeah, expensive also.

Always good, fresh sushi!

It was quite busy on a Friday night. They take reservations. Suggest that you ask for a table in the small back room. A lot quieter in there. Wide selection of sushi rolls. California and eel skin rolls were very good. On failure is the calamari. Small portion of small pieces of thickly breaded calamari that was tough.

If you are prepared to leave it up to the wonderful skills of their sushi chefs instead of ordering off the menu you will enjoy better food than ordinarily available in Tokyo. I am a regular visitor to Tokyo, but Kisaku would have to be my favorite 'family style' - Japanese restaurant.

great sushi all the time and friendly staff

pretty good

Compared to other places like Izumi in Kirkland, Kisaku has a nice setting, jet rather small portions. Fish quality is excellent, but I just was hoping for a little more rice and sea food. If it was not for the interesting sweet potato spring roll dessert, I would have given this place 3/5 points. Parking can be tough in the area. Would I come back? Probably not...

fresh w/ more variety for a great price

Our family loves sushi. This is some of the best. soucie chef very accessible to questions and very friendly. Service quick. But the sushi is terrific. West Coast salmon, nothing tastes as good as it.

Disappointing meal at Kisaku. The sushi rice was hardly vinegared; service was poor—one person’s order didn’t arrive until almost everyone else at the table had finished theirs, and it was wrong entirely (sushi, not sashimi). Fish was not the best, for example the crab in the suimono was grainy and smelled “fishy.” The overall price was modest, however, perhaps a reflection of the modest quality. Maybe for a neighborhood quick meal this place is ok. But don’t go out of your way. Many better sushi options in Seattle.

The goodness continues at Kisaku Sushi (Seattle). We enjoyed something new from the fresh sheet, and a couple of old favorites as well! New owner/chef Kyu-san has struck a great balance between maintaining the excellence Kisaku is known for, yet mixing it up a bit with new creations. Check out the pics for descriptions!

We went for an early dinner with the extended family including children. They were very accommodating with the children. We had a large range of food - sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc. All the food was extra fresh and very tasty. Service was excellent. Overall, fabulous food and a great experience. Definitely recommended.

This restaurant located in Tangletown is a very nice pleasant neighborhood gathering place. The food was good and the ambiance serene.

My husband & I used a Bloomspot coupon and we pleased with the place and food overall. It is nice to have a good Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood. Good for small groups, reasonable prices, not too loud, family- oriented place.

Pleasant ambiance, excellent service from our waiter and overall very tasty, extremely fresh fish --- especially the tuna. Very reasonably priced for the high quality of the food and greatly appreciated the well-priced cold saki. The fish shines here. The tempura was just okay compared with everything else we sampled.

Would go there more often if the rice was more consistent and the front of house got some training. The sushi chefs are very talented.

My husband and I ordered three delicious sushi rolls and a very good cheesecake with red bean paste on the side for dessert. We arrived about 5:45 on a Friday night with no reservations and got what seemed to be the last two seats available, at the side of the sushi bar. What we lost in atmosphere was made up for by watching the sushi being made. An enjoyable meal for less than we paid at other Seattle sushi places.

My wife and I have being going to Kisaku for the past 6 years. We find it to be one of the best sushi restaurants in the Seattle area. Shiro's in Belltown is comparable but the bill will be 40-50% higher. We almost always eat at the sushi bar where the owner Nakano San knows what we like and ALWAYS provides us with the freshest, most wonderful fish. We generally eat a lot sashimi so fresh fish is important. I am in love with their Albacore, otoro, hamachi belly, miragai, and the uni, especially when it it sweet. In November Nakano prepares his own salmon roe, which is worth 2 or 3 orders. The non-sushi items are also wonderful. Hamachi kama, soft shell crab tempura, the sunomo's, oysters, and other specials that are on the chalk board always superb. Kisaku will not disappoint. If you don't feel really good after eating there, you are not a sushi person.

High quality fish.

One of the restaurants we picked for RW due to menu offerings - not sorry we did! Our apps were Hamachi Sashimi and Kaki Fry, both were excellent. We both had the Omakase Sashimi for our entrée and they came out looking stunning! The slices were a bit small we thought but delicious nonetheless. We also both had the cheesecake for desert which we both liked. Our waitress was great - even suggested miso soup for pre app (which we took and both liked, an inexpensive way to warm up from the chill outside). We arrived rather early for out reservation and were seated immediately and our food came out without any problems. The restaurant did fill up quickly shortly after we arrived and we noticed that some people seemed to be waiting awhile for their meals. Not an issue for us but thought would mention so readers are aware. Family atmosphere. We enjoyed our meal

When it comes to restaurants, we place the highest demands, and have the highest expectations, when it comes to sushi. The décor has to be "right", it has to be spotless, smell clean, be relatively quiet, have rotating selections throughout the year, and top-shelf product. And since sushi is not just dining, but and experience, we only sit at the sushi bar, and this also means the sushi master/owner/chef must be expert at his/her craft, and an added bonus if they are personable as well. Kisaku is our favotire restaurant, one of only a few sushi restaurants we'll go to in the greater Seattle area, and is probably the one restaurant we have been to most often over the years. You couldn't ask for a better owner/master/chef than Nakano-san, and we make it a point to be seated at his position at the sushi bar. My elderly mother, born and raised in Japan, has a standing reservation at the sushi bar with Nakana-san EVERY SATURDAY throughout the year, it's that good. There are only two sushi restaurants I recommend to friends/visitors in Seattle, and Kisaku is the one I'll recommend first. Always a great experience in all respects (and we vacation in Japan regularly, so our "bar" is pretty high!).

Not anymore. Waiting for service and then for food for an hour on Monday night. Disappointing. This place used to be our favorite for many years.

We came quite early so the place was quiet. This made for a very enjoyable meal. All the food was well prepared. The tuna and black cod were exceptional. The service was OK. There is a bit of an odd vibe to the place but we had good meal overall and would return.

My husband and I are originally from Japan and we have been living in Seattle for 5 years now. I have to tell you that this is the best sushi in town. (You have to believe it as we have been eating sushi our whole life!) Sushi rice is just right and the fish is very fresh. Besides sushi, we love their green tea which is always served with the right tempauture. I would also strongly recommend that you try their desserts! Our favorite is rolled cake with fruits and whipped cream in it. It is a 'must try'!

This is the second time we have gone here. My brother-in-law lives in Seattle and took us to this place before, so this time we asked if he wanted to meet us there for dinner since we were in town. He orders up several different sushis, all amazing. We had caterpillar roll, dragon roll, unagi, spicy tuna roll, and a few others. We will definitely go back again. It's best to get a reservation, as they are always busy. Parking can be difficult, as it's in a residential neighborhood. It's a very quaint area.

I have been meeting friends at this restaurant for years. The food has been very good, although, with the nigiri, the pieces of fish began to get smaller and the amount of rice seemed to be larger. Now there is a new owner, and the food has gotten even better. Check out their new appetizers!

Recommended by a local. Showed up without a reservation and told their only table was in a charmless windowless "back room". Place remained empty throughout our entire time there. A group of three were also turned away. Food was good, nothing remarkable. Décor was chintzy and cheap. Overall a below average experience. I wonder how they get all those good reviews?

We go there regularly and are never disappointed. I love the California rolls and the Caterpillar rolls. Their selection of Sake is generous and reasonably priced. Lunch is served with a Miso soup and small salad included in your order, which was a very good surprise. Other dishes are also very good, like the Agedashi Tofu. Highly recommended.

Well, first off there was a hair in the California roll. That's a real bummer to get over. The sashimi was hard and not fresh at all. The spider roll was tasteless with too much batter and overly fried. The miso soup was average. The atmosphere is light and pleasant. For the price, there are better options in north Seattle.

We had lunch with friends. I had the sashimi lunch--as I always do in a Japanese restaurant. The fish was good--and very tender. But I have to say that it had less taste than in many places, the tastes were less differentiated, and the amount was small. I had a roll to supplement the sashimi. My wife had cooked food (chicken with noodles and liked it--I tasted and thought it was pretty good. We were catching up after many years, and this was a good venue.

Delicious Japanese food- sushi and sashimi of high quality and other dishes for those who are not aficionados of raw fish. Desserts are Ok! Saki wine was interesting and complemented food well. Very friendly staff especially to young children

great sushi

I've been here for lunch and decided we'd go for dinner. It's located on a quiet street among some small coffee shops, market and other shops in the Wallingford area. The small neighborhood feel is very relaxing. You see people in small groups just visiting on the street. Kisaku is open and warm inside. It has both sushi bar and table seating. The service is prompt and warm, and not overdone, no hovering. The menu has a decent selection of appetizers, entrees, sushi rolls, etc. We had the Kisaku roll and orders of the sashimi, along with a couple of glasses of wine. The roll was really tasty, and looked like art with what looked like decorated paper wrapping...edible wrapping. The sashimi came with a good assortment of fish and was also very tasty. All in all, a good meal. The only downside to the experience, not too much though, is the parking which you should allow a few extra minutes to find. A little walk may come with that.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Our go-to place every birthday or anniversary. Nakano-san and his entire team make you feel welcome the moment you walk in the door. We only sit at the sushi bar, so I can't speak to the restaurant seating, but the sushi bar is fantastic. Truly delightful to watch Nakano-san and the other sushi chefs craft their masterpieces. The sushi itself is incredibly fresh, unique, and generous...truly the best in Seattle!

We went to this place when on a whim we wanted sushi. It was awesome. Great sushi, cold sake and beer. Turned out our son had gone there twelve years ago. We enjoyed the red snapper too. They love kids. Our one year old granddaughter was well taken care of. On this Thursday evening they were crowded with people waiting when we left and we had perfect service. Thank you Kisaku for a great evening dining experience.

We are fans, big fans. Great sushi, great staff, kid friendly, we are really thankful that Kisaku is within walking distance of our house but just to be clear, we would happily drive to get here.... It's a feather in Tangletown's cap! We have been eating at Kisaku's sushi bar since it opened and in the days when you didn't need a reservation. Secrets out now, so may want to make a reservation if you are coming in the evenings. Our son who is 7 has been double fisting their salmon nigiri since he was 1 years old. This is actually to the dismay of my husband and I who more than a little concerned about how much a visit will cost us when he is 14! Whenever we dine here we try and save room at the end for an order of Seared Fatty Tuna which will ruin your sushi pleasure scale and you need to eat it last or everything that follows it will be perfectly great prior but will pale in comparison after it. May be the one of the most delectable things I have ever eaten... Mushroom salad is really great as are the sautéd prawns in garlic butter. These prawns are not always on menu/board but they will probably make it for you if you ask! Friends who have moved far and wide from Seattle always hit this place when back in town for a visit. It's on their not to be missed list when visiting the city!

Yes, another review for Owner/Master Ryuchi Nakano-san's excellent Sushi and Japanese Restaurant, Kisaku in the Wallingford/Greenlake area of Seattle. We have the fortune of traveling to Japan often on vacation, and though we miss pretty much every type of Japanese food and cuisine when we're home, we remain totally happy with the fine sushi, sashimi, temaki, gunkan, and superb Shigoku Oysters served up at Kisaku. Seriously, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu or daily specials (did I mentioned the Shigoku's <g>?). For a special treat, go "Omakase" or "Master's Choice". Kisaku is one of only two sushi restaurants in the Greater Seattle/Eastside" area that we will order Omakase, and it's definitely the better value of the two. And, though carefully curated, Kisaku has a wider variety of traditional Japanese menu items, an excellent Nihonshu (Sake) list, and good bottled a a few choice beers on tap. If they'd only serve Shochu . . . .

Great sushi and very reasonable prices. A great omakase sushi negri with a beer and green tea was around 120 usd - which for the very high quality was a steal. Be aware that the location seems to be in the middle of a residential neighboughood - but the food is clearly worth making a detour for.

Best sushi in the city, for sure. I love kohada and they always have it and its always great.

The owner is a Japanese who´s been in the US for many years. He knows his business well and works every day in the kitchen. The food is superb, a real taste of Japan in Seattle. Price is ery, very reasonable.

This place is the bomb! large rolls, delicious mushroom salad and I love the panchetta dessert. You must call ahead and reserve cause this place is slammed every night of the week. They are closed on Tuesdays :-( Try the dragon roll or the catipillar if you like avacado and unagi eel. everything is great, you can't go wrong.

my gf and i went there to get a protein-loaded meal before we went hiking in mount rainier national park. all the fish was fresh and tasty. sushi chef at the bar was friendly, but busy. he forgot one of our items (we did order a lot). but the fish was solid, and they were judicious with the wasabi (a big gob of wasabi on everything is a sign of someone who doesn't know what they're doing, IMO). once he'd slowed down, our sushi chef chatted with us a bit, both in english and japanese. we didn't do the dessert, but they looked like they'd put a little thought into them, instead of just putting green tea ice cream and tempura fried bananas on the menu. the bill was more than reasonable; $50 for a bunch of sashimi, a roll, yakitori, and a little bit of sake. would definitely go back.

Kisaku has been a family favorite for almost two decades. The food is excellent, the prices are moderate, the staff is professional and attentive. Children are welcome. Also try Kisaku's lunch menu, especially the Nabeyaki Udon. I highly recommend the place.

It is more than a year that I reviwed Kisaku. I visit Seattle 3 to 4 times a year and always eat at Kisaku and I am always impressed by the quaality of food and by the excellent service. We ( my family including my 8.5 years grand son) try to sit at the chefs counter and to leave Chef Jason, to prepare diner for us and serve the many sofisticated Japanese delicacies that he prepares. It is a remarkable exoerience.

Wow! I made a reservation for Valentines for my fiance and I, and it turned out to be the best dinner ever! As travel RN's, we eat sushi every where we go. Our favorite place use to be in Cali. The atmosphere and ambiance was delightful. The Sushi affordable and delicious. The service - perfect. Be sure to check out there Green Lake roll and Wallingford roll. You can't go wrong eating here!!

Tangletown is an often unknown area - even to Seattle residents. Close to Greenlake, it seems an unlikely spot for some of the best sushi in Seattle, yet, Kisaku delivers just that. If you are looking for trendy, fusion offerings this is not your place. That said, the fish and various other seafood offerings are always magnificently fresh and impeccably presented. In addition to sushi and sashimi, I have ordered the geoduck sautee and the tempura soft shell crab. The geoduck was fantastic - as good as any I've had. The soft shell crab was, unfortunately, as much tempura coating as it was crab. More modern than intimate, the setting is meticulousy clean and inviting with a low noise level that is conversation friendly. The wait staff is always efficient yet low-key.

We have been going to Kisaku regularly for a sushi fix and it's always delivered. Recently we were there with our kids and some new to sushi. I don't consider myself a sushi aficionado but I've been getting more and more daring thanks to this restaurant. The menu also catered adequately for the non sushi lover. The chicken teriyaki was a real crowd pleaser, not too sweet. The rolls are always wonderful and the spicy tuna (my own test for a shusi bar) is always super fresh and not simply tuna leftovers from the night before. The back room is perfect for a large family with noisy toodlers if you are like me and don't like upsetting fellow diners.

Nothing like Seattle Sushi. Best in the country by far. Lots of different fish we can't get on the east coast fresh. Service and friendless of Sushi Chefs is amazing. Reservations a must.

excellent sushi!

Cozy neighborhood restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine. Specialty is sushi but we had dinners with kasuzuke black cod, excellent salads, and even desserts. Portions are generous but not humongous. Staff are friendly and efficient with very good timing. This is my to-go-to Japanese restaurant even though I am not in the neighborhood. And good value. I also enjoy their take-out.

I was hunting around the internet for a place to eat, when this restaurant popped up. Despite a reservation, as I was alone, I sat at the sushi bar. After some discussion with the sushi chef near me, I opted for the dinner size sashimi platter. I told him I liked everything, so to put on what was fresh. When the platter arrived, it was absolutely beautifully plated. There was also a great variety (I did ask for the fatty tuna). There were 2 types of mackerel, multiple types of tuna, a fresh oyster topped with large roe, and even geoduck. Lovely. I also had one of their special cold sakis, and it was lovely. I ordered a flame broiled salmon kame (fish collar), which was absolutely perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert I tried their "coffee jello with cream". It came with two types of cream on it, and was a lovely light and refreshing end to a beautifully prepared and delicious dinner. I would most definitely return next time I am staying at the University of Washington. I talked here, which took about 30 minutes. What a great find!!!!

Fantastic sushi. Call ahead for a reservation; this place gets packed!

Kisaku is an excellent Japanese restaurant serving mainly Sushi but also other entrees. The food is always superb and served graciously. If this type of cuisine can be called art then Kisaku is responsible for such an elevation. It serves consistently high quality food and has since its opening. When my wife and I are pondering a place to eat away from home we always return to Kisaku.

The food is fantastic and beautifully presented. the safety precautions were top-notch. My issue was with a waiter who made more errors than anyone in many years of dining. Starting with taking a long order from a table full of people who came in after we did, forgetting my drink until I had to ask halfway though the meal, asking us twice to order dessert as he forgot the first order, not bringing tempura sauce until I had to get up and ask someone. Being a waiter/waitress is very difficult so I have empathy, but this was really bad! I asked him if he was new and he said no.

This neighborhood restaurant serves up some of the finest Japanese food in the city. The sushi and sashimi are as fresh and immaculate as you could wish, their traditional and signature roles are beautiful and tasty. Their lunchtime bento boxes offer great value, and their other traditional dishes, like tempura and unagi are well-prepared and presented. We love their spicy oyster starter so much that when we were last there, we ordered it twice. Also, we feel that this mid-priced restaurant offers excellent value for money. The restaurant is in Seattle's "Tangletown" neighborhood, and can be challenging to find without help and parking is sometimes a hassle. Believe me, it is worth the effort. Though this is a white-linen-tablecloth place in the evening, many people bring young children. At lunchtime, there are no tablecloths, and the last time we were there, it seemed too loud for a business lunch--we had a hard time hearing our friends. At dinnertime, it is just as busy, but seems much more quiet. The service here is always friendly, professional, prompt, and servers are happy to explain the specials and answer any questions. Love this place.

Very good sushi (had large sashimi combo with fuji apple cheesecake for dessert), higher quality than most places around Seattle. Great service, though our server was a bit busy, but ok, a busy night. Needed reservations on a thursday night - there's a reason for it. Highly recommended.

We sat at the counter and left the chef to choose the menu for our Suchi and Sachimi dinner. Was excellent. Most enjoyable. First class, service and the food fresh and delicious

Always good. Always busy. Always somewhat noisy. We have been here often, and we have never been disappointed. This time my husband and I shared mushroom salad and Agadashi tofu . We each had black cod (which, when smoked, you know as sable at the deli). Those with us also had tofu first, and then they had an assortment of rolls, and enjoyed everything. The service is pleasant, and attentive, yet unobtrusive. The noise has to be tolerated, or else you must miss this place, and that would be a shame. There is a variety of Sakis to choose among, both hot and cold. There is good Asian beer, too. And there are plenty of non- alcoholic drinks for the children. Street parking only, but we have always been able to find a place within a short walk. Finally, we always see numbers of Japanese people dining, and we take that as a good sign. They certainly know what good Japanese food is. Open for lunch.

Been to this restaurant a few times, always ok service and sushi. Went for lunch and a cascade of mistakes. Waiter disappeared soon after delivering menus, miso soup delivered with a major spill on busboy and on a guest of mine. Busboy seemed more freaked out than offering an apology. Sushi delivered with a missing selection, took several attempts to flag the waiter to bring what we ordered. Got some bad looks from the chef when trying to alert waiter. Awful behavior from chef and no apology from the waiter.

This is our favorite restaurant. We go here more than we'd like to admit- certainly any occassion to celebrate... but also just because it's the weekend :). Great ambiance and warm staff. Try the Fuji Apple Cheesecake for desert!

While visiting friends in Seattle, I requested sushi. My friends maintain that this is the absolute best in town -- and I bet they're right. It was awesome sushi (maybe better than what I've had in NYC), has an attentive and warm staff, and was totally welcoming -- even with a newborn and 2-year-old (for whom they made her favorite noodle, which wasn't listed anywhere). Great experience.

So I'm from the east coast so I was not used to the offerings but I was pleasantly surprised. Warm towelettes prior to dining and attentive service. The sushi dinner and tempura dinner split between 6 was an affordable way to sample prior to ordering more for party of six. Eel and avocado roll was off the hook. Unagi was perfectly prepared. WallIngford roll was yummy too! Thumbs up!

My first time here and definitely NOT my last. My niece introduced me to this place on my recent visit in Seattle. Very impressive and one of the best sushi I've ever had. The quality of the sashimi was excellent. The Japanese uni was amazing, its sweet and creamy. The service was excellent. Our sushi chef was detail oriented. Located in a neighborhood residential area where parking might be an issue.

After a bit of looking as COVID restrictions are being loosened, we found this wonderful small restaurant. Excellent fresh fish and vegetarian options abound. The waitstaff was attentive and helpful, as well. We will be back again to enjoy this cozy place. Close to the University of Washington.

I love the lunch specials, always good and fresh, right across the street from Mighty-O! Order some plum wine and call it a date.

First time visit for us former Japan residents. Sushi was above average but well below our hyped-up expectations based on Tripadvisor and other National reviews. We ordered a decent amount of sushi and each ordered a tendon bowl with "tempura" prawns and vegetables. The first issue we had was the tendon arrived WAY before we finished the sushi........not so good flow management ...the second and overriding issue was that the so-called "tempura" was coated in heavy fish-n-chips type batter.....no indication of panko and real tempura preparation whatsoever. The pieces were overcooked: saturated in oil and limp.....possibly re-heated in a microwave from a previous cooking. A real disappointment. Would notlmake a special trip to return here..

They have great sushi in a nice, more modern setting. They are are little short on the wine and beer lines, but overall, it is a great place to eat.

Okey sushi place. with free appatizer. sushi was of good quality. The public was mainly Asian, which is for sushi bars often a good sign. Lived in the neighbourhood for a while, and will go back if I return.

Am happy to report that, though we miss Ryuichi Nakano-san, Kisaku Sushi continues its tradition of excellent sushi under the stewardship of the new owner, "Q-san". We've been regulars for 15 years, it remains our favorite Japanese restaurant in Seattle!

Aug/2015; Kisaku, in Wallingford, Seattle/WA: Hidden away, North end corner of Wallingford with a handful of shops and restaurants, not easy to get to, but worth the find. We tried 5 lunch specials and they’re all perfect, though the California rolls could use some real crabs. All fresh fish. My young daughter decided to try raw fish and fell in love with the salmon. • Nabeyaki Udon 10.50: love it when they leave the prawn tempura on a side dish, left it crunchy & not in the soup, great broth and the udon tastes like homemade. • Sushi Combination A 12.95 • Sushi Combination B 9.95 • Sashimi Combination 12.95 • Chirashi Sushi 12.95 Great service. Waiter indicated they’ve been around 30+ years. We’ll be back to try the dinner menu but their prices may deter frequent visit. 4 stars

Hands down the freshest sashimi I’ve ever eaten. High quaintly ingredients and excellent service. The fatty bluefin tuna was nothing short of amazing!

Great restaurant and super service.. Had amazing Beef Ribs, and a nice style and flavour.. Great Martini's also :) bonus

We ordered takeout and it was terrific! Three different types of sushi, all delicious. And we also tried the fried calamari which was delectable. I would love to have this again.

so good

Kisaku was nice... nice quiet atmosphere..not loud and obnoxious. Its in a nice area. Parking not so great. Just find a spot.. walk as much as a couple blocks.... no big deal. FOOD: I did enjoy the food. The Sashimi Combo L was great. Lots of great cuts to try. 7 or 8 different ones. Good for two. The actual Sushi Rolls are waaay to small. Only 4 per roll? its not like they are AMAZING and BIG to just give you 4. I ordered three rolls and got 12 pieces. So yes... I left hungry. But overall they were good. Not amazing. Do you get more pieces if you order one roll? Not sure... but why would that change? but the price is right for what you get...4 pieces,. Now if you order an entre and a roll.. maybe the 4 pieces is ok. But if you go for just rolls... nope.. I need more. So you will probably get more and you can try MORE rolls.... So there is a plus side to the whole 4 piece deal. Just giving you my opinion. Service: Trea was great... cute and friendly. I wish the assistant would smile more.... she is just fixing tables and keeping your water cup full... but she looks sad. I wanted to invite her to sit with us and maybe tell her a joke and she would smile and have 4 pieces of sushi...but then i'd have to order another two rolls, so I wouldnt go hungry! ha Overall.... i'd go back. Its a nice place.... 13 tables total I counted and a sushi bar. Not that big. make reservations for sure if you want to go on a busy night. 3 star with good potential. Until I try it again. one day.

Shinmi is the man.

One of the best places for sushi in Seattle. If you are visiting you'll need a car since in isn't in the international district or the downtown core. Very worth the trip.

When in a new city, I usually judge a restaurant by how full the place is. Chances are, if you are visiting Seattle, you will not randomly walk by this resto as it is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. If you happen to stroll by, you may wish you had made a reservation, as it was completely full on a weekday! My significant other and I shared a black cod appetizer, a unaju (eel) dinner and a sashimi combo. The black cod is marinated in sake and has a lovely buttery taste. The unaju was as delicious as what I've had in Japan and I would happily come back for more. The price is decent for the quality of food served. You will not be disappointed.

I am not a sushi connoiseur, but am told that this joint has the best in town. And Seattle is a foodie community. I have eaten here twice, both times with pleasure.

I have been going to Kisaku for 20 years under 2 owners. Q San has upped the ante and has improved the offerings with high quality fish and excellent preparation. Try it, you will be delighted.

We have been going regularly to Kisaki for about 15 years, and in the last few months the quality of the food has been on the decline. Today's sashimi combo, spicy tuna roll, and rainbow roll were of such poor quality both visually and taste (compared to the usual very good to excellent) we felt we had to give some feedback. Our server said, "Oh, sorry." and walked away. The host simply said "OK." and alway walked away. Not sure how or why the mediocre food was punctuated by such poor customer service, but not sure when or if ever we will be going back. So sad - it used to be a great local gem.

Sat at sushi bar. Great service! Chef clearly interacted with those of us at the counter. The lunch combo was a bargain. I will be returning!!

Have eaten here many times and the sushi is always outstanding. The service is friendly and professional and the fish is fresh and delicious.Great sake selection as well.

Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!!!!!!! Excellent Miso.

We have been regulars at this place for the last 8 years. We were referred to it by someone who used to take their Japanese guests to dine there. The owner, Nakano, works the sushi bar every night, with another amazing sushi chef on the smaller bar. The restaurant is located in tangle-town, a tangly small neighborhood near Greenlake, off the beaten track. Not where you would expect such a phenomenal sushi restaurant to be located at. Kisaku is a no-frills, amazingly well made sushi place. This is a child friendly restaurant, that can accommodate special requests. My daughter would regularly order specific rolls on the bar. Apart from that, you can also call and ask for an Omakase meal (the best I've ever had), but you can also just come in, sit at the bar and tell Nakano to feed you. Those have always been the best meals we have had there. Took us a couple of years to realize that in amazing sushi places like this, the only way to go (unless you have a large party) is at the bar, and not from the menu. Just trust them to make you the most amazing sushi you have ever had. And you can also chime in and ask for something you really care (or don't) during this process. We have been away from Seattle for 5 months now, and all we can think of is coming back to have dinner at this amazing restaurant. I have had sushi all around the world, including Japan, and this is a true gem. Prices b.t.w are completely reasonable.

A pretty decent place for choice of Sushi. The california rolls are quite tasty as well as fresh. Wine display could have been more prominent. The place is quite clean. Thumbs-up

This place was within walking distance of our air bnb. Fresh food and interesting rolls (we tried green lake, Wallingford and the spicy tuna - all very reasonably priced). Casual but upscale atmosphere for sushi. It is a good option if you are staying in the Wallingford area and looking for fresh fish/sushi.

1. Access -Parking in a your typical neighborhood environ. 2. Location- Easy access into Wallingford from I5. 3. Ambience- Well lit, very spacious inside, not your typical crowded table settings, and very clean. 4. Service- Server was very knowledgeable on most menu items, went to ask the chef to answer others 5. Food- very very good quality sashimi. Tempura was light and tasty. Rolls (various) were well made and presented (except for a last minute spicy tuna which fell apart on us. This place is a must try again for us.

We were very disappointed with this place that had come quite highly recommended. The sushi was average, salmon did not taste particularly fresh and the rolls were nothing to rave about. The worse thing was receiving a piece of salmon sashimi that was just the skin and nothing else. It was horrible and overpriced for the poor quality. There are other sushi places in Seattle that are far better. We don't recommend this at all. Try another better restaurant in the area.

We got terrible service--I believe there is an internal war going on between waiters and the rest of the staff. We asked for a set of chopsticks, a fork, a bowl of rice, we never got fork or rice. No one except our waiter refilled the water. The sushi finally came and the spider roll was half the size of a normal and had almost no crab. The only "fish" that tasted fresh was the salmon roe. The tiniest oysters I have ever seen cost $3 apiece. My sister ordered the tempura vegetables and they even gave tiny servings there. Meanwhile, nearby sushi chefs were chatting with each other and sushi bar guests. We asked for one additional order of sushi, and despite the restaurant only being half full, the chatty sushi chefs did not prepare it for 20 minutes! This is the worst sushi restaurant I have ever been to, and I have been to many all over the US!

great fish, great prices, what more can I say?
Japanese authentic comfort food
This is one of the very few places to go for authentic Japanese food in Seattle with reasonable price. Be sure to book a table prior because they are always full.
