We had a family gathering of 7 go to Kobe to celebrate the 16th birthday of my son. Excellent experience, food was great, and our chef / waitress were awesome!

Kobe is a very good Japanese steak house. The location is very nice in spite of being in a strip center. Our lunch was delicious and the service very good.

Teppanyaki is always fun, especially when you have a good chef. We started with a couple of sushi rolls. Then moved to the table, always love the fried rice. We did feel rushed, the waitress brought the check and to go boxes immediately after the chef was done, just started entrée. even though other tables were available.

Food is good for standard japanese steakhouse food. We should have waited for the hibachi grill because our service in the bar area did not settle well with me. Our server seemed to be a bit pushy with selling us more than we wanted. Also, prices are a bit high for what you receive. We will try the hibachi if we choose to return.

This place is incredible!!! Love the staff..the atmosphere is amazing! My husband and I visited on our 6 month marriage anniversary..and they surprised us with a dessert...restaurants like this are worth it! They are super delicious! This restaurant is must when visiting Austin!

Man o man, too bad so expensive. Most expensive meal I ever had. I would go back again but for 2 of us, with wine, over $225.00

We really enjoyed having dinner at Kobe. We celebrated 2 birthdays and Chepo made it really special! Thank you very much again!

They made some changes to their lunch specials so if you want soup and salad it is extra, but overall we do like this place. We usually take out of town guests here for lunch because it is easy to get to and even at lunch they do a little bit of the "show" at the grill, but not as much as what they do for dinner. Customer Service: The staff here at times have been very good and at other times they were just ok. I think their customer service is improving though from what I have seen, but I think this restaurant could really do better and step it up a notch if they made some tweaks to how they engage with the customers. Food: My kids LOVE the Teriyaki Chicken and the Miso Soup here. I love the salad and the teppanyaki vegetables. The Salmon was very good recently, but the Tilapia was not that great when I had it.

Note: I've been to several Japanese steakhouses in a variety of states, so my review takes into consideration my other experiences which also set my expectations before arriving at the restaurant. This was, by far, not the best one I've eaten, nor was it the worst. The food was pretty good, not very flavorful but prepared as requested. The bar was awesome, they offered a large selection of cocktails that were very good. The show left a lot to be desired. It was probably one of the lower ranking shows I've seen, very little interaction from the chef. In fact, our chef started about 10 minutes after another table's chef (the other table had 2 less people than ours) and she still manages to finish about 5 minutes before the other chef. Left a lot to be desired. I'm quite critical because of the higher prices you pay at these types of restaurants increased because of the show, which just wasn't up to par this at this restaurant.

First, I will say that the food is traditional hibachi. It's good, not phenomenal. If the service was at least mediocre, I would say this place is a 4/5. However, I had to remove two stars for service. Even though other members in my party complained about the previous service of Kobe for various reasons, I really wanted hibachi and pushed to go here. I was sorry I did that! We arrived around 6:30 on a Saturday. They don't take reservations, but we had an 8 PM show 10 minutes away - we thought we'd have enough time. They give us a buzzer and say 45 minutes. That didn't leave us much time at all - but we agreed we could be a little late for the show if they couldn't rush us through the process. An hour later, no buzzer. We check with the guy at the front desk and he was SO RUDE! It validated what the others in my party had talked about (that the front desk is very rude). So, we order sushi from the bar - which was a nightmare in itself. The bartender got our order wrong, but it was too late - we had to go. We will not be coming back here no matter what.

This Kobe location has been a fixure in NW Austin for a long time. And it is always busy. And for good reason - the food is always good. It has to be because you occasionally have to wait for someone to show up to share the Grill and the Show. But this location is worth it. The service is very good. And the Show never gets old. When my wife suggested this the other nite, my response was tepid because of the usual wait (it was just the two of us). But at the end of the meal I admitted that it was worth it. Even the "preparation show" while cooking the meal was fun with the clanking of hardware and the onion and oil Choo Choo and volcano. What I really like about KOBE is that you can actually see the meal prepared in front of you. There are no secrets, tricks or modern microwave magic - it is just the food, seasoning, oil, the grill and the Grill Master. Right there in front of you. A great place for an extended family meal or a group of friends. Plenty of parking as it is located in a strip center at the North West corner of Hwy 183 and Anderson Mill Road.

Kobe’s is a great restaurant that gives you the choice of Hibachi entertainment, a regular Sushi bar or a nice table setting. The service is great as well as the quality of the Sushi. In addition, they have a great happy hour during the week at the Sushi bar that has great prices and high quality offerings. They are located at the corner of Anderson Mill and Research Blvd. in Austin. Mike S.

A one of kind behind the scenes Japanese cooking experience. A truly engaging experience with an upfront personal chef to prepare your food right in front of your eyes. Serving it directly from the grill to your plate. You even have the chance to catch "flying" rice as the chef flings it into your mouth.

We stopped going here because the food always made us sick when we left. We think it was the oil, they use too much of it when they cook and do their show. Even though this is closest to home, we travel to Round Rock to eat at a similar restaurant, which doesn't make us sick.

We went here with another couple to celebrate a birthday. We have all been to this type of hibachi steakhouse before but never had a bad experience like this one. First our chef was not friendly nor very entertaining. He actually complained about his pay and told us all of the "good cooks" go to dallas because of the pay. Secondly there is a $3 up charge for fried rice...that is rediculous. If you choose the steamed rice it comes in a bowl and looks like Elmer's glue. My wife asked for no rice and additional vegetables and was told bluntly that was not an option... again rediculous. Out of all of the hibachi steakhouse restaurants I've been to this is the WORST! I will never return nor recommend it to anyone. Go anywhere but here

David.. Spilled water on us while waiting 45 minutes for habachi. Had to ask for napkins and silverware/chopsticks.. Asked for ice water, he replied "water no ice", I thought it was a joke. Sure enough he came back with water and no ice. Over all a loud obnoxious guy. Didn't seem to care and didn't try to make amends. When you pay around 200 for dinner more than the food should be good.

A great place for a birthday dinner. There were 10 adults and 2 children in our party, and we all left full and entertained. The food was yummy, cooked just right. Our chef was funny and was great at entertaining the entire group. He made the birthday boy feel special as well, with little messages left in the food and such. Yes, this place is a bit pricey, BUT you get lots of food with your plate. Soup, Salad, Rice, Veggies, AND your meat, oh! and you can't forget the entertainment you receive. It's well worth it. Great place, great staff, and can't wait to be back.

Kobe is my favorite restaurant for Japanese hibachi cuisine. Be sure to ask for Chepo, who is their head chef. In addition to being a fantastic teppanyaki-style chef, he's also one of the most personable people there. I'd gone twice, and he's since remembered me. I'm usually in there a few times a month, and he always comes over for a handshake and friendly greeting each time he sees me. The food is delicious - chicken teriyaki and steak are terrific. Always opt for the fried rice if doing the hibachi-style -- very well worth the few dollars up charge.

We have been there a few times and all of us love Teppanyaki type restaurants. Problem here is that there is nothing unique here from the entertainment of the chefs which is disappointing. They are tired of the same old routine (and I understand). they need something new here or at least updated. The other and bigger issue is that the cuts of meat and seafoods are not the best and they have also cut back on things like bean sprouts and veggies. The good side is the sushi isn't bad and we really did like the crunch roll. Overall its a mediocre experience and the price is very high so to us its not much of a value for the experience or the food.

The host was pleasant, our waiter Eric was really attentive to us, our cooking Chef was entertaining, but nothing new. The food, however, was not Asian tasty. Fried rice was horrible, I think because it was really old rice. My steak an shrimp was pretty bland and something you would expect from like a take-out Asian place. Service is great, but quality & taste of food is not so great.

Dropped in for lunch. Had hibachi shrimp lunch from the lunch menu. The soup was less than normal and could have been warmer, needed more flavor and the mushroom were dropped in before bringing the soup to the table - they were raw. The grilled veggies were good. Fried rice was so so. My waiter was attentive and friendly.

Went with friends on my final evening in Austin. Our chef (which cooks your food right in front of you!) was really funny and talented! The food itself was really tasty. I ordered the meat trio so got to try a little bit of everything. Steak chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly. The cost Overall is say it was a little pricey but I guess it's worth it with the performance you get with the chef!

This is the typical Japanese Steakhouse type meal and "entertainment".... the chefs make a big deal of "slicing and dicing" the food, putting it on fire, smiling at all the right times. When you're in a group, it can be fun. They make some good Hibachi steak entrees, and shrimp was good, too. However, one "trick" the chef likes to do, is to go around and toss food at the diners, seeing if they can catch the shrimp in their mouth. Some people like to do that, but I politely declined twice. The chef kept challenging me to do this.... very annoying, and I declined. He wouldn't give up.... saying .... I'll give you your meal FREE. .... Of course , my family was now cheering me on, so even though I did not want to, and I have no problem paying for my own meal.... I said "OK...." This chef, who can aim the shrimp ANYWHERE he wants to, aimed it straight at my forehead. Thanks a lot. For that, I think they deserve 2 stars, so here they are.

I like the option of sitting at my own table or around the large grill with others. Fast, fresh, and excellent quality. I have been at this location about 8 times and never a disappointment. Friendly bar staff too.

This restaurant frustrates me a little because the chef's and food are so good but the table service is absolutely mediocre. Once your original drink orders are taken It's like pulling teeth to get more water or tea. Like I said I'm a little frustrated. It's the little things that matter in service.

It's like having dinner and a show. A bit pricy but a good occasion place with the kids.

After leaving The Austin Aquarium my family and I had a great time at the Kobe Japanese Restaurant the food was cooked directly in front of us by an amazing chef he was funny, vibrant and very skillful our food was delicious the soup was great and we were very pleased to have been apart of this wonderful experience. The Kobe staff was very inviting and friendly!

Decent food... grill show is entertaining for the kids.. but the place is overpriced

You get what you pay for. The staff was very nice, fun, and helpful. My boyfriend and I went not knowing what kind of place it was until we walked in. It is very nice and you can tell expensive. We sat with a family but were still able to hold our own conversation nicely. We ordered a roll of sushi and two mojitos to start. Eel was more than amazing! Mojitos not so much. They went overboard with the mint leaves and it tasted like toothpaste. We don't have much experience with these kinds of places so we ordered steamed rice instead of the fried rice that is part of the show. Still he had extra and gave us some- VERY good. Wont make the steamed rice choice again. I got the tilapia while my boyfriend got the chicken & shrimp. I think the chef got mixed up because he made two of my fish then realized his mistake but gave me both anyway! I loved how they did little gags and throwing food at people's mouths- it was fun. I was very cold there from the moment we walked in so if you get chilled easily bring a sweater! All the food was more than amazing and we both had enough for another meal the next day. The total was around $70 for the two of us (which included two alcoholic drinks and a sushi roll) but I paid $100 since the chef and waitress split the tip and I wanted them both to have a decent tip since both did a great job! While I know you have to pay a bit for this quality this place will have to be a special occasion place from now on for when we can splurge.

We were spending the weekend in Austin for our Anniversary. This restaurant was a unique way for us to celebrate. We were seated at a hibachi table with several other people and were served by an entertaining chef. The food was very good (too much!) and it was fun to see it cooked. The chef was talented, yet quick. It's a bit pricey, but good for a special occasion.

This is a great place to celebrate a birthday. We had an entertaining chef, our food was good and they made a special effort to bring out a piece of cake, sing happy birthday and gave the birthday boy a special set of Kobe Chopsticks. We had a full table of 9 too.

I really liked the variety of dished that where offered. I found the meat to be of good quality, and the service was good. I enjoyed the meal a lot, the atmosphere was nice, and the way the meat is cooked was fairly entertaining. Maybe it's because it was my first time at a Japanese steakhouse, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

We've finally found great hibachi in Austin! Kobe is beautifully decorated, has friendly staff, an exciting atmosphere and delicious food! This place is perfect for any kind of meal- whether family, business or romantic - the entertaining live cooking sure to break any ice. Love love love it and will certainly be back soon!

Great restaurant for special occasion. Good for family. Overall fun experience. Definitely recommend.

I took my family of four to eat here a few weeks back. Our table that we sat at, the grill did not get hot enough, we had to eat our food in stages. Rice first, then vegetables and then our meat. By the time we got our meat cook with only one burner working we had no food on our plates left. Our appetizers, one of them came out 40 minutes after we sat down. The chef at our table was embarrassed and apologized. He felt bad. We feel as if we basically threw $138 down the drain. They were understaffed and not trained well. Not a good look. There was another family eating with us as well and we could tell they were not happy. Also get rid of the mask mandate. Take off the mask.

Even though the place was packed, we were seated quickly at a table, and as always the food and service was great.

Over priced, so so food, but it has good environment, lots of parking space :-) it is basically Americanized Japanese restaurant,

Dropped in for lunch during week with know kids since I was feeling like sushi but kids are meat eaters. Lunch special was samurai steak which is normally what we order on special occasions for 8 year old. Upgraded to fried rice for $2 meal was $8.95. Good perfectly cooked baby was thrilled ate everything but cabbage. Ordered California roll and spicy crawfish roll at regular price. Sushi great even though not special price at lunch which would have made it better. Service usual outstanding.

My wife, granddaughter and I accidentally found this jewel while we were in Austin. The chef that cooked for us was exceptional. Not only were the three meals prepared perfectly, but he was a great entertainer. The waiter did a good job making sure all our needs were met. I had hibachi shrimp, my wife the hamachi chicken and my granddaughter had the child’s fried rice. Our next trip to Austin will find us eating here again.

The four of us ordered the hibachi ribeye steak. It had an odour when placed on the grill and tasting it, it tasted sour and not what a good cut of steak should taste like. It was also full of fat that the chef did not remove but instead cut the whole steak into large chunks too big to eat properly without a knife. Only forks were provided and chopsticks. The fried rice was greasy and awful, plus we didn't know at the time that we'd be charged extra for the fried rice - we were never asked. This is a rip off place with rip off prices. Steer clear.

We love to come here for Happy hour with $3 and $4 sushi rolls, $1 salads and good drinks. The happy hour foods are not fancy or fussy but they are very tasty. The regular menu is also excellent. Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 5 to 7 PM.

We stopped at this place on a Sunday afternoon after visiting Main Event. We walked in and immediately got a seat in the bar area. My daughter and I were served part of our order before the roll we ordered, different procedure. The fish was obviously not real fresh, found a hair on the plate. Yet, the manager tied hard to satisfy by comping the plate with the hair. Overall, we enjoyed the place, not the food.

This is a nice restaurant, good atmosphere, and good food. The show by the chef was the most elaborate and skilled I have ever seen. She did amazing things with the knife along with some of the old standbys. The ginger salad dressing was some of the best I've ever had and I loved the fried rice - absolutely perfect. The one thing that detracted a bit from the dinner was she overcooked my steak but I have found that most teppanyaki chefs seem to do that. I like the steak medium rare so if you like it that way you should caution the chef.

We went on Valentines Day evening. It was crowded and they don't take reservations. They did a good job of seating everyone in about 30 minutes on such a busy night. The chefs did a great job and were very entertaining.

My son and his girlfriend took me & my granddaughter here to eat for my birthday and I absolutely love it , the food was so good , very entertaining , fun. Excellent service. My granddaughter who is just 3 loved the food but wasn't a big fan of the fire and noise of cooking the meal so she stayed close to Grammy and whispered to me after our food was served , no more fire ?? The cook heard her and said no more fire sweetie. The funniest thing is when I took her to the restroom and she thought it was the coolest thing ever that they had an adult and child size toilet , she couldn't wait to tell everyone in ear shot lol. Anyway I plan to return every time I visit Austin , it's the best :)

It was our family's first time in this location. We will definitely be back. Nice atmosphere, pleasant servers, pleasant cook, delicious meal, wonderful experience. THank you !

We had a great time with our kids. Our hibachi chef was great. The food was good and everyone at our table was nice. The restaurant is large and very nicely decorated. I love all the wood furniture, the wine area and the tile mural on the back wall. I will say it's pretty loud being a large family-oriented hibachi restaurant so be prepared.

Great place to celebrate a special occassion or meet with family and friends. The food is fantastic, the staff if professional and the atmosphere is great. It is loud so, din’t expect to be able to hold a conversation around the hibachi table. The prices are extremely high which makes it a “special occassion” destination for most of us! The younger kids do love the experience.

The food was great and the show was super. We have been to other similar restaurants but this place comes out at the top.

Kobe does a good job with the hibachi experience. Sushi is average. Happy hour prices are good. Try the fried rice!

I love this place. I usually eat lunch rather than dinner. The prices are much different. I had the NY Steak and Avocado Roll. The NY steak was perfect as always. The Roll was not that great. They need to revamp this roll. Our waitress Amy was clueless. She needs to be more understanding instead of pushing back on what people order.

This was my first foray into Japanese food and I was not disappointed. The food itself was fantastic but the incredible performance put on by our chef was impressive to say the least. It was a joy to watch him. Definitely a great experience. My friend had gone two days before for dinner and was so impressed that is why we were there the day I went.

The chef really put on a good performance and was very interactive with the table. I really enjoy the Hibachi style restaurants and the chef always "makes or breaks" the meal. The food was really good and the outgoing chef just topped off the experience! I would certainly recommend this one!

We've been here quite a few times but never had the chance to write a review. We were here yesterday for my daughter's 19th birthday and it was a blast !!! We all (7 of us) came early at 5 pm because we had experiences of a long waiting line in past. This place is such a special dining experience for birthdays, very family oriented, kids usually had FUN with the chef's exhibitions with fire while preparing food in front of you. He can steal your attention and also the group because of his interactive performance. Very entertaining with the use of his cooking tools. Seafood medley is my choice, a little pricey but worth it, considering it was cooked fresh in front of me in their special hot metal grill. The grand kiddos were so excited to know we were coming to dine AGAIN here yesterday ... they remembered "choo-choo train, volcano, etc" that chef performed with his tools and fire. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone.

We went for dinner with family. They wanted to go to a performance dinner... For me this is a seen one - seen them all thing. Same basic tricks, cute, sometimes funny one liners while they make elaborate gestures as they cook. I could do without the show - just a cliche now days - and would rather have them spend more time preparing my food. Food is ok but never consistent, fried rice is almost one note in soy flavor and the menu choices have not changed in years - if ever.

Many of us know Kobe Japanese Steakhouse is a great and entertaining night out. Today we tried their lunch specials for the first time. We will definitely do this again.

haphazard service, inattentive waiter, random results with a very specific food order, other eaters at my table were weird (is this a Gay hangout? not criticizing but was really uncomfortable)...not coming back

We had steak and shrimp. After sharing, we agreed that both were top-notch! This is a cook-at-your table restaurant. The only downside was that the cook at the next table seemed to have just discovered that his spatula would ring when struck against the steel cook plate. We got to listen to him beat out two choruses to "Happy Birthday." None of the three other cooks we saw did this. The best part of the show was watching a 4-year old girl react to the cook. That made it worthwhile. It ran us about about $30 per plate for two.

I wanted to share my family’s experience at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse on Mother’s Day 2023 (5/14/23). This was our first time having grill side Hibachi and an experience we all had been looking forward to for some time. Upon arriving at around 7 there was no wait, and we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, we were seated with a family who was being difficult and it in turn had a dramatic effect on how we were treated. The other family ordered and then our order of Kobe Trio with steamed rice, the pick two with Teriyaki Scallops and Dynamite Shrimp with friend rice, two pieces of Smoked Salmon Nigiri with gluten free soy sauce (wife is a celiac), and Crab Rangoon, when our water was delivered we added a glass of tea. We specifically let the waiter know that we needed gluten free soy used on our cooking. Following our order the other family ordered with a slew of modifications to every item, no onions, no garlic, extra of this, none of that, tons of this, absolutely none of that, and work of all EVERYTHING extra well done including the steaks. Since it was our first time my wife asked if their changes would be done to our food too and we were told no, each would be prepared separately. The issues came fast and furious. First the other family complained about onions in the rice, new rice was brought with no onions and served with extra NOT GLUTEN Free soy sauce to everyone (our food was not being made the way we asked, only the way they wanted) and to make it even more fun the family started arguing with the cook and wait staff about everything. The other family claimed soup was spilled on their $500 skirt (the son quickly said after the waiter walked off that he thought she bought it at Ross or Kohls and was to be quiet). By the time they made it to cooking the meat all the meat was cooked well done (we asked for medium rare) and split among all the people (we had 2 adults and a child) they had 4 adults, 2 kids, and a baby. We literally got a few pieces of meat and chicken but did get our Scallops and Shrimp because the other family did not like seafood. We never got our steamed rice, and a bunch of the vegetables got tossed. Our waiter was seen once at the beginning, once when he dropped our appetizers, three times while he fought with the other family and ignored us, and once at the end to again fight with the other family but I was able to grab his attention to ask for a manager and a refill on my tea which had sat empty for an bour an a half. I had to grab other staff to get our waters filled once during the meal, otherwise we had nothing to drink which is a tough meal. The other family belittled the manager into a free $300 meal, alcohol, and all. We talked to him and were told we had the slowest waiter and all he could do was 15% off our$113 meal that we did not get a third of and the rest that we did get was cooked wrong except the two pieces of sushi which we never did get soy sauce for. I paid $89.58 to go home and eat cold leftovers. My wife’s Mother’s Day became a three ring circus. Overall total crap experience.

We've been going here for 15 years Kobe steak is wonderful if you've never tried it. It's our go to place for family events and great food. The meal is a package deal, everything is price and you don't get nickeled and dimed to death over rice, soup and salad. The management has been the same and the quality hasn't suffered after all these years. Got to go...

Very entertaining and definitely plenty of food cooked to order. Drink order took long. Plenty of free parking and plenty to take home.

We had a semi-birthday party for our granddaughter (2 weeks late due to scheduling conflicts). The ribeye steak, chicken and salmon were all great. Everything was cooked to our liking. We ordered brown rice, but my wife thought it was a little mushy. The meat and veggies were just right. We were all surprised at the quantity of the dishes. We did not order any alcohol with our meal. The typical chef at the table would have put on more of a show but our birthday girl was scared of the fire, so the rest of the presentation was somewhat subdued. Keeping four adults and two kids under 9 happy is sometimes a bit hard but Kobe did a good job. Our waiter was attentive, and we had a very good time.

Had the trio and it was very good. The fried wontons were FABULOUS!! I was beyond cold. We did not sit at the table where they made the food because we were in a hurry. You have the option of that or sitting to the side. Red velvet cake was delicious. Worth a visit. Waitstaff very friendly.

Today we selected the Kobe Japanese Steakhouse for lunch. The experience was outstanding. The venue, parking, menu, service and of course food were all wonderful.

Had such a fun evening celebrating my moms birthday. The kids loved it! They even had y’all high chairs for the little ones to be able to see the cooking. Food was good. Had a quite a long wait but it was worth it.

If you live or are in the Austin area and you want some wonderful Japanese food, this is the place to come. I was disappointed with the atmosphere and the smell of the restaurant. It just didn't smell clean. The restaurant in Addison, TX is much better...and I guess that what I was expecting. The same quality atmosphere.

This is first time we went to Kobe, I have been in japanese style restaurants. The service is great, the waiter was very helpful. They have a special lunch menu and the prices are affordable for this kind of food , but the rice bowls are dreadful!, they give a bunch of rice and little meat whatever you order on the top! way too much rice ! you better stick with the entree that the chef prepares for you at the grill, the noodles were good and the amount of rice they serve is just right. The chef was a little too quiet. I hope they improve their entrees for luch.

Definitely not a romantic place. Lots of screaming kids and the tables are piled on top of each other so there is no way to escape the noise. Food was decent. Gave me the feeling of being at Chuck E Cheese, but just a lot more expensive!

Kobe Steakhouse is one of my favorite neighborhood sushi restaurants. I just love the ambience and the chefs cooking teppanyaki style in front of you. Great lunch specials, but will take about an hour and half from start to finish. Fresh rolls, salad, soups. Everything is just great and the service is fine as well. If you haven't eaten teppanyaki before - you will be seated at a table with 6-8 other people. The chef will make some hearts with the rice, make some 'choo-choo' noises, flip some shrimp into your mouth, and cook your food in front of you. The one beef I have with this place (and thus why they receive 4 instead of 5 stars) is they don't take reservations so for special holidays and dinners you must stand around and wait to get seated or indulge yourself with a drink in the bar area.

Had the ribeye and lobster. It was pricey, but holy mother was it tasty! I've never had lobster prepared like that, but it is the best I've ever tasted. The ribeye was cooked perfect👌. Im definitely looking forward to returning.

Good interaction between chef and table participants. The chefs slice, dice, cook right at your table. My granddaughters love it. Besides the usual Japanese steakhouse dinners, they also offer sushi. We had a fairly good server so she was attentive as to when we needed more adult beverages. The regular beverages like tea took a little longer.

Great food/service and atmosphere, but very pricey!

We took our youngest to Kobe last night to celebrate his 7th birthday, and to say that he had the best birthday dinner of his life would be an understatement! This kid who rarely eats anything other than a plain cheeseburger tried—and ate— everything! And he had a fabulous time. I'm not going to lie, when we walked in, he was kinda ticked off that there were no cheeseburgers on the menu, but the second our chef lit a gigantic fire explosion on the grill in front of him, he was entranced. He tried everything that was put on his plate (or thrown in his face!) and he laughed and laughed and laughed. The excited look on his face was worth every penny. And when he was brought a piece of cake with a candle and a surprise gift from the restaurant, he was over the moon. We ordered just about everything there was on the menu—ribeye, teriyaki chicken, Hawaiian pork, salmon... everything was delicious. (As a girl who watches what she eats, I suggest you pretend not to notice the oil and butter because it's really tasty, but an eye opener as to what probably goes into restaurant food when we can't see it! Ha! Just pretend not to see it when it melts on top of your food as it cooks!) And if you've never tried the Longhorn roll from the sushi menu, I suggest you try it. The Texan twist on the Japanese dish is inventive and tasty, though there's not really much "sushi" to it. (Doesn't matter, it still tastes really great!) The Japanese style knife-throwing performance kitchen thing may seem like a kitschy way to spend an evening, but don't knock it till you try it, especially with the kids in tow. Ours enjoyed every minute (12, 10, 7). It's not cheap, but it's a fantastic spot for a special celebration that will most definitely keep the phones and screens and games out of sight and out of mind!!!

I have to share my experience from this place. It's THAT good. I tried their filet mignon and it was melt in your mouth good. I read on other sites of this place being very expensive but if you know anything about good food and the prices for a quality restaurant they are right in line. As a matter of fact it's better 'cause you get a show. We had a great time and definitely will be back. Great service too.

Awesome experience! We came here for dinner while in Austin celebrating my son's 11th birthday. The food was great and the show was awesome! My son felt so special with all of the attention that he got including free birthday cake and a special birthday gift! He was ecstatic! The staff was great too! We look forward to coming back next time we're in Austin!

As far as presentation goes for Japanese steakhouse, Kobe has always been a nice place to look at, and had good layout for the interior. My friend likes to go here for his birthday, so I end up here once a month, and every time I have a pretty average experience. To me, this is not worth the cost paid for the meal. Our entire party was present, but Kobe wouldn’t seat us because they didn’t have a “full table” yet. Since there’s only eight seats around the table, and we had enough to fill half of them, there wasn’t any reason to make us wait. That seems to be pretty consistent in my prior visits. Even once we were seated, it was another 20 minutes before someone even came over to take our orders. While you want to come to a restaurant hungry, you still want to be seated and served in a reasonable time. Eventually after the order was placed, the mushroom soup and garden salad came out, which would hold us over for the time being. Since the table we’re sitting around is a large grill, the chef stands right there to cook your food right in front of you. A show is made of it, which includes bouncing an egg on his spatula, rapid slicing of vegetables, and filling an onion with cooking oil to make a column of flame. The chef’s utensils get spun around his hand, and banged on the metal during the course of the cooking, which is part of the show. As each portion is completed (rice, veggies, and then meat), it is served. The teriyaki chicken I got was one of the blandest things I’ve ever tasted. The portion was large, and I hadn’t filled up on the soup or salad prior to that, but the mat lacked any flavor. Once we were done with our meal, the place was closing for the evening. Other than the lady who came around to refill the water glass, I didn’t see any of the management around to provide some feedback to. My dinners here have been pretty consistent, and I’ve never been impressed by the quality of food. The entertainment value is good, but I feel that’s about it.

We have been eatting at Kobe for a couple of years. We love their happy hour $1 soup and salad in addition to half priced sushi. Their plain fried rice is the best we have had so far. I sometimes would drive 20 miles just to pick up two bowls of their fried rice. Simple, plain and delicious. We visit many times during their happy hour time between 4 and 7. Fish on sushi is always very fresh. I would have given them a five stars but their service needs some improvement. We got more than $10 worth of free food a few months ago because the waiter forgot to bill me for some dishes. It happend a couple of times before too. I finally decided to call the manager to let him know. One time I asked to speak to the manager and was told that he would be right out. But the manager never showed. We recently order teppanyaki items and watched the chef cooked right at the table. The chef was very quiet and had no smiles on his face. In conclusion. Kobe is an excellent resturant. They will deserve a 5-star review if they improve their services.
They know how to handle a crowd
We recently visited Kobe's on a Saturday night with a group of of15. No reservation but we called a head and they had tables ready!! We had small children and the staff washstand welcoming. The chefs were super----entertaining as they prepared our entrees and included the kids. They got all our orders correct. It was delicious!
