Best Deli and Breakfast!

By Danielle S |

Nothing beats Kuby's German restaurant and market. Their brunch on Sunday is the BEST and you must get their apple crepes. After you eat, you have to get some sausages and strudel to go and even their German potato salad is a great choice. Love this place!

Outstanding value and great food

Don't let your first impression fool you when you walk into a German grocery store. The food is exceptional and great service. The atmosphere will make you feel like you are a small market in Munich.

Old World German Quality

By Kenneth J |

The backfround I found interesting : In 1728, Friedrich Kuby opened a neighborhood meat market in Kaiserslautern, Germany, that specialized in fine sausages and specialty meats. After two centuries of satisfied customers, Karl Kuby, direct descendant of Opa Friedrich, immigrated to the United States, bringing with him the unique art of sausage making and specialty meat preparation. In 1961, Karl opened Kuby's Sausage House, Inc., in Dallas, Texas to continue the tradition. Photos: http://www.kubys.com/gallery.asp. The restruant features live music breakfast, lunch, Sunday brunch and dinner (dinner served Friday and Saturday nights only and features live music. The food is what you would expect in Germany at a good local restaurant. Rouladen, Schweinebraten , Barische Spaetzle. Homemade sauerkraut, hot German potato salad, red cabbage. Potato Pancakes The sausage plate consists of 3 kinds of sausages, potato salad, and red cabbage, potato pancakes, as extra and fresh homemade bread. European baked breads and pastries are made fresh daily. They have a large catering service and can also custom process your game meat, fish, or fowl; you have to visit the Deli. The Deli has three fresh meat areas. List over 16 different sausages, from pork, veal, venison, smoked and many other fresh sausages to cook. Andouille, Frankfurter Würstchen, Bierwurst, Bratwurst, Liverwurst, Nürnberger, Polish, Habinaro, Jalapeño, Knockwurst, and many others. Cold cuts, and many meats, and an old style large high quality fresh butcher area with meats freshness not seen in the grocery stores. Another area has the fresh baked breads, fresh salads, strudels, deserts. The balance is foods imported from Germany and frozen prepared foods to take home to cook. I have been there many times with business and family members and all have returned. This is the best German Restaurant I have been to in the Southwest U.S.

Excellent as always!

By CardHound |

You enter from an alcove off the street. You enter into the store. Meat counter on the left and shelves in the center. To the right as you enter is the entrance to the restaurant. This place is as close to true German as you will get in Dallas. Schnitzel and potato pancakes...yummy! Took some friends from eastern Europe. They loved the food and then got more to take home from the market. Their words were "We are definitely coming back!"

Excellent Food

By Nam-My L |

My wife and I often come here after a hike and it's a always well worth it. The brunch crowd is usually crowded but seating usually opens up quick. The sausage is the highlight at the restaurant here but I've had the salmon brunch and that's nothing to dismiss either. Well worth the calories and bonus, you get to take some to go in the grocery store next door.

A Dallas Institution

By Travelhound |

The perfect place to slake your yen for German food. The sausages, schnitzels and potato salad are about as good as it gets, and I find the service friendly and efficient. This place wouldn't have lasted so many years if it didn't deliver the goods. Be sure to explore the adjacent market for goodies to take home, and try to catch the "performing clock" on the corner of the building. Great fun and reasonably priced.

My German DNA is happy!

Wow is this place great and just like my grandmother's food! We loved the wurst plate with sauerkraut and red cabbage and the potato pancakes we also delicious! The Paulaner October fest beer topped it all off!

good price and nice store besides

By Lenni |

This a German restaurant. What I most liked from this place is the price-quality they give you. This is a casual restaurant with very good prices on its menu and the quality is according to the price. We two eat for 27 dollars with beers included and nowadays this is difficult to find. Anyway, the list of beers is short since this is a German restaurant. I would recommend you the combination dish with 2 sausages, and three salads so for $7 everything, you can have a good selection. After you finish your food is a good idea walk around the store pertaining to the same owner and where they sell the German sausages and more.

I really miss Germany and this filled a small void

By MTRaz |

We moved from Germany to Louisiana about 18 months ago and really miss German food. The closest place to us in Kuby's that is over 250 miles from us. We were coming to Dallas for a soccer match and decided to seek out some German food. The restaurant is very traditional and the deli is amazing. I had the Rouladen and my wife had the Bayrische Spätzle. Both dishes were very traditional and cooked to perfection. I drank Köstritzer Schwarzbier (traditional German dark) and it added to the feel of a real German dinner. We finished with Apple Strudel and bought a few items from the deli. Great visit and we will return on our next visit to the Dallas area.

Not a repeater for me.

Went for lunch. Ordered a pastrami sandwich which was ok. Didn't think the German potato salad was that good. Probably won't return.

Die Beste Gasthof

By louisa756 |

Kubys is a mainstay of Dallas for German food and has been for decades. They have a deli with plenty of meats and imported groceries along with the restaurant. Free parking is available in the Snider Plaza area where this restaurant is located. If you occasionally get homesick for German food brands there is a decent selection inside the deli. Plan to shop after your meal in the restaurant. I went with some friends on a Saturday evening. A gentleman was playing music on an accordion. It’s set for a nice atmosphere. The menu is pretty classic with lots of wurst, schnitzel, sandwiches, etc. They will bring you free sliced bread and snack size pretzels to your table. And yes of course they serve beer. Their portions are very generous and the prices are very modest. I had the veal schnitzel which came with red cabbage and German potato salad and a house green salad. Only $14. Excellent. This is not a fancy or pretentious restaurant. It is straightforward delicious German food. I’ve been coming here many years. You should give it a try if you like German food because I think you will be very pleased. These types of restaurants are getting harder and harder to find because it is run like a family business and is consistently good. I hope and pray Kuby’s stays in business for many more years. There a deli and fabulous meat counter. This is a reliable place to get German meats and foods without having to go too far from the center of Dallas.

Pork Schnitzel!

By LeeDogDallas_TX |

Had a craving for schnitzel. Knew exactly where to go, Kuby's. Crispy coating revealed tender pork. Sides were red cabbage and potato salad, both very good. Cabbage had a hint of nutmeg. Don't forget to order the Jager sauce on the schnitzel.

Mediocre German Food at Best but.............

By SpinyStar |

I've lived in Germany for 8 years, so perhaps I'm pickier about the preparation of German food. My Jaegerschnitzel (pork) was too thick; the mushroom sauce had no mushrooms and the smoky taste overpowered all else. The red cabbage was delicious. The German potato salad was far from the best I've had in stateside restaurants. Kuby's did not offer a German salad dressing, but only the usual array offered in any restaurant. But the deli, butcher, bakery, and attached grocery was very, very good. The Wurstsalat was delicious; the coarse liverwurst, great. They offered a good selection of cheeses including Quark which is very hard to find. Impressive.

Half deli/German food store half restaurant

By TXRanger75243 |

This place has been going strong for decades and is a favorite of locals and students. Great deli options and the restaurant hasn't changed since they opened (not sure if that is good or bad!)

living on their reputaiion

By michael m |

We stopped in for lunch and were so disappointed in the fare. The soup was cold, the waitress promptly replaced it with some medium (not hot) soup. Her salad was tasteless- so disappointing because the German cucumber salad is one of her favorites. Our waitress was cheerful, prompt and hard working. I liked the mix of customers- local businessmen, bright eyed college students, locals, senior citizens, and some up and coming young business guys....because a mix like this means great food. The grocery side of the house has a great selection of sausages and meats along with German food. We liked the place enough to return and give them a second chance.

Great change of pace

Great variety of choices, awesome brunch spot and like the choices in meats. The breakfast biscuits melt in your mouth. Great place to stop if in the highland park area

German Food for the last 200 years!

By Sam B |

Casual, good fair priced food for Breakfast and Lunch. If you like the German cuisine, you will like the Deli next door with a full butcher's section and epicurean foods from Europe.

Quaint little eatery!!!

By Mark M |

In Highland Park, where the rich and elite of Dallas live, there is this great little German restaurant and grocery. The restaurant is a little space on one side of a small grocery store. Even though it is in a high class area, it has remained a quaint little place with very reasonable prices. I highly recommend the wurst plate appetizer. The mixed slices of wurst with warm sauerkraut and red cabbage is absolutely heavenly. The do specialize in Sandwiches, Sausage links, and weinerschnitzel, My wife loves the reuben and I had the corned beef sandwich. Definitely makes this a stop!!!

We Thought We Were Back In Munich

By Tupelo010835 |

It was a long drive for us to get to Kuby's but oh so worth it! Wife and I have been craving really good and authentic German food since we returned from Germany this summer. She drove around the internet and found Kuby's so we headed there for lunch today. Absolutely everything was top drawer. The food, the service and the overall experience. We are both nuts for Nuremberg sausages. We each had a plate with all the trimmings (see attached photo). They came with wonderful sides (warm potato salad, sauerkraut, red cabbage and pickles. Not a morsel was left on our plates. And at $7.95 per plate, WOW! We will return. HIGHLY recommended.

Wunderbar

By retro_librarian |

I really enjoyed my experience at Kuby's. My husband and I had lunch there before leaving town. I had schnitzel and it was divine. The service was fast and friendly. I can not wait to go back to Dallas, so we can eat there again.

Mediocre at best

By Mark K |

They have fallen. This used to be one my favorite lunch and breakfast places, but they have been steadily declining over the last few years. Nothing was bad just not what it used to be. Sauerkraut and red cabbage tasted like they were straight out of a can. There were four of us, four different dishes and they were all over salted. Then on top of that they rushed the courses, we had not had our appetizers, two minutes before they brought us our salads then two more minutes our main courses. On a good note the beer was ice cold and the Black Forest cake was great.

Great potato pancakes!

By bauercat |

I've eaten at Kuby's twice now and both times I enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is very casual and on weekends you may have to wait, but it's worth it. Be sure to try the potato pancakes. They are excellent. The omeletes are good too. I had a veggie omelete with cheese and veggies were still crispy. The egg is very thin with plenty of filling. The service at Kuby's is also very good. They do move you right along, but that's the kind of place it is.

Good food and German market

By LoveNewExperiences |

Very reasonably priced menu with a number of authentic German options. Our group tried several of the Sausages including Bratwurst, both the chicken and pork weinerschnitzel, and the chicken sandwich. We were all pleased with our selections. I really enjoyed the warm German potato salad. The adjoining meat market has a large selection of fresh meats to choose from as well as a large selection of condiments and sides.

Great Value, Large Portion and Tasty

By TutinsPony |

We wanted a late breakfast and managed to get in just before their 11am breakfast deadline! I had the croissant with ham and a sauce, very tasty. The coffee was good. This is an old-fashioned type restaurant and the furnishings match this, but it is clean. The waitress was not great.

Great breakfasts!

By werollalong |

I love Kuby's for breakfast when I am in Dallas. I love the potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce. The reviews for schnitzel are making me think I should try Kuby's a little later in the day too! :> The group that eats there is always eclectic and interesting. The market is also a lot of fun. Try it!

Good Eating

By Linitotx |

Brought my friend with me to try this place and must say it was a good choice we ordered: The Potato pancakes are a good try - there basically a small portion of flat round potatos and you put either apple sauce or cream cheese on them after you add the applesauce or cream cheese on them the taste is great Kasseler Rippchen & Zigeuner Chicken / pork chops with red cabble & chicken sandwish both had a lot of great flavor and just the right portion sizes Price wise very affordable and service is good to. Will be back

Not worth making a special trip to try the food.

By NNWSLARRY |

We went here based on the positive T/A reviews, The place was full and luckily there was on table open unfortunately it was in front of the accordian player, luckily he did not play thru our entire meal. There were only two waitress working and ours was really working hard. Very pleasant but obvious she had a lot of work to do since she could not go over some of the dinner items. We both order schnitzel with red cabbage and potato salad. While my schnitzel was OK, both the red cabbage and potato salad were very bland. I ended up leaving a majority of both items on the plate. The waitress later returned with our bill, no idea if they even offer any dessert. I am sorry we drove so far to have such a ordinary meal. I guess we did not get the great meal that the other reviewers have written about. Doubt we will ever go back to see if the food ever gets better. They do have a nice little store attached to the restaurant where you can buy meats and German products, that looked like a place worth visiting.

A fine place for German food

By 484karlc |

This cafe is more of a delicatessen than a restaurant, but delicious German meals are served at your table. The home made sausages are fantastic, and the proof is that this restaurant is always busy.

Generous portions and reasonable prices

By Jackierabbit |

We ate there before a Dallas Stars game and were surprised by the amount of food on the dinner plates. I had 2 pork chops with German potato salad, sauerkraut and cabbage. The table was started with 2 kinds of fresh bread, butter and pretzels with mustard. DH had the Rueben Sandwich which was piled high and loaded with French fries. After dinner we strolled through the market and bought some of the fresh sausages to bring home and grill. We tried the wieners, beer brats and the Jalepeno cheddar. They were all delicious although the latter was my favorite. I just wish they had a shop in Fort Worth!!

A Taste of Home for our Exchange Student

By andyriner |

Kuby's was a nice European diversion on a long weekend trip to Dallas. We tried the lunch schnitzel at the suggestion of our German Exchange student. She, being the only German among us, was not too impressed that schnitzel did not come with sauce. The market was well stocked with German brands and literature. We will be back again.

I don't get the hype

By Commtexx11116 |

Kubys deli counter is great ... Best salami and liver wurst ever. But I do not get the great restaurant reviews. Lunch the other day, a Rubem and a hot pastrami, was mediocre and the counter service was surly. I've been to Kuby's twice now and both times were disappointing.

Different style, and authentically German

By maceyryan |

We've been going there for years. It's interesting to see so many Germans there and listen to them speaking their homeland language. Besides the many different sausages, the potato salad is also great.

one of the best schnitzels in Texas!!!!

By Discover574846 |

I’ve been to German restaurants all across Texas, and the jager schnitzel here is one of the best I’ve ever had! We tried both the jager schnitzel and the zitronenkraut schnitzel, both were fried to perfection! They were crispy but not over breaded, and the pork wasn’t dry at all. The plates are huge, they come with potatoes, salad and kraut. The homemade salad dressing is excellent, the salad lettuce is healthy (no iceberg!), the bread is great. They have mustard on the table which is excellent. The staff were nice although a little busy on a Friday evening. This place is amazing!

Love the place. Great Breakfast

By BigLouGarcia |

If you like the old world sausages this is the place to go. I also love their Deli have some of the best hams in Dallas

Late Lunch

By TLS56852 |

I have friends who love to shop at this German market. My husband being German, wanted to give this place a try. He enjoyed his food. He had a large quantity for a reasonable price. I wasn't very hungry and so I got a German hamburger. I didn't care for the meat. The bun was a soft pretzel bun which was nice. The fries were a bit wimp. Other people seemed to enjoy their food but I wouldn't choose to go back. It's probably more of a personal preference than a judgement of Kuby's.

German food near SMU campus

By NETravelDuo |

We stopped here after seeing this restaurant on the Food Network. We don't have many German restaurants near us so always try to stop when we find one on our travels. The restaurant is small, but service was very fast. Hubby had pork chops with German potato salad, sauerkraut and red cabbage, which he said was very good. I had a reuben with German potato salad. Very tasty! There is a market and sausage house connected to the restaurant, so had to check that out too. The meat selection was extensive and looked so good! Wish we could have taken some home to try!

Decent German Food

By Keith D |

Kuby’s serves decent German food as an offshoot of its German butcher shop and grocery store. However, it’s a limited menu featuring primarily sandwiches or sausage plates. We had the one schnitzel dish and it was solid. Beers are available but no wine by the glass even as the menu and website says a list is available. The waitress did say we could buy a bottle from their store and open it, but that a corkage fee would apply, rendering the exercise pointless.

Need a hit of German sausage, kraut, or mustard? This is a place to visit. Long time visitors continue to eat here. Well established also draws new customers seeking authentic tastes.

Kuby's Sausage House

By Inge J |

Been here many many times and this time was better than average. Great wurst platte and beer. The waitresses don't know the first thing about the German language but that's ok. Also went into the store bought a bunch of sausages and ordered a Swedish christmas ham. The sausages here are some of the best I have purchased in the US. Some of the pickled herring had expired dates, so that was no good, but otherwise A OK.

one of my long time most favorite places for lunch, not quite what it once was but still worth a trip.

The food was good and hot and portions were generous. My husband really liked the sausage .We enjoyed walking through the deli after our meal. If we hadn't been traveling by air, we might have taken a sausage back to PA

Like taking a trip to Germany

By ScubaMike47 |

I lived in Germany for 6 years as a kid, and walking into Kuby's really took me back to that place. The deli is about as authentic German as you can get, with European canned and dried goods, a wonderful bakery with dozens of choices and absolutely the best meat market you've ever seen. Their peppered bacon is awesome, as is all of their wursts. The restaurant adjoins the deli. Nothing fancy, but really good food.

decent breakfast

By DoraemonArlingtonVA |

I went for breakfast with some of my colleagues. We got there shortly before 7 a.m., and the place was already quite crowded. I had an omelette (with, as I recall, sausage, onions, and peppers). It was quite acceptable. The atmosphere is basic -- perhaps a bit dinerish. The service was good and efficient (although one of my colleagues asked for a bisquit instead of the potatoes -- that didn't happen).

From Denton To Munich in Just Over an Hour!

By Tupelo010835 |

My Goodness, this place just stays great! Haven't been here since last Christmas but decided to make the long trek to Snider Plaza in Dallas today just for their fabulous Nurenburger Sausage lunch (see photo). Wife nor I haven't had anything even remotely similar since last summer in Germany. Believe me, this is good as any meal we've ever had in Munich. Hope to make it back before next Christmas! Highly Recommended.

Feeling of Genuine German Experience

By CraftBeers |

I shy away from using genuine and authentic because I do not really have a frame of reference to speak correctly. Kuby's is what I envision a German market and restaurant to look like. It opened for business in 1961, but the recipes for the meats date back to 1728 when Friedrich Kuby opened a market in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The family owned business in Dallas are direct descendants from the original back in Germany. Kuby's is a combination of a food market and restaurant. The exterior is a traditional German architecture using brown colors and timber framing. Just inside the front door is a market that sells meats, sausages, fresh vegetables and a few isles of boxed goods. Everything is German. To the right of the front door is an entryway into the restaurant. The restaurant looks like a diner from the 1960s, but it has German decor instead of United States. Steins hang on the walls. Pictures of men in lederhosen and playing accordions hang next to them. Family crests on wooden shields cover other areas of the restaurant. It feels very German. The servers were two older women with thick German accents. It was such a treat to be sitting in a room that feels German and hearing the correct annunciations of the menu. I loved their recommendations and service. An older gentleman was playing an accordion during our whole visit. It was so nice. The food was wonderful. I ordered a Wurst Teller (Sausage Plate) with drei (3) wurste and loved the flavors in all three of my choices. The chicken rouladen was fantastic. The bayrische spatzle was great. The portions are huge and reasonably priced. When I left the restaurant I went to the market and bought some of the polish sausage and smoked bratwurst to bring home with me. The only slight negative on this place is the age. It's very worn. The tables, chairs and booths are decades old and they show it. It did not bother me, as it added to the charm of having been in business since 1961.

One of the Best-Kept Secrets in Big D for Mouthwatering German Food & A "Blow Your Mind" Delicatessen!

By John H |

Kuby's has been a family business since 1728 when the patriarch of the family, Friedrich, opened a neighborhood sausage & quality meat processing store in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After 200 years of successful business, Karl Kuby, a direct descendent from the family emigrated to the United States. Karl came prepared with a knowledge & skill set that enabled him to to continue in the business of making quality sausage & processing specialty game meat. He open Kuby's Sausage House in 1961 in Big D. How lucky can a Texas city get than to have Karl as a resident entrepreneur! Kuby's in Snider Plaza not only serves authentic German food in one side of the store, but provides incredibly fresh, high quality meat & other specialty items in the other half. The restaurant part is unassuming with no bells & whistles, comfortable, & well-serviced. I promise you that you could order any menu item & walk (or waddle...after eating too much) away, & you would be satisfied! Parking is generally not a problem, but I always try to get there early especially on weekends. Always take some sausage home for snacks during the week!

Still going strong

By russkwtx |

Went to lunch with a friend here, had not been a quite a while. I had the reuben and much to my surprise, it was about twice as big as I remember. What I remember is good flavor but not that much meat. This time, the meat was plentiful. Half the sandwich had great flavor but the second half I think someone forgot the sauce. In any event, it was one tasty reuben. My friend got the two sausage plate and really liked it ($5.95, a steal, with two sides). Kuby's is going strong even after all these years. Will return for sure.

A excellent breakfast

By John D |

We came to Kuby's for a quick breakfast. This place was perfect. I had one sausage and a couple of over medium eggs done perfectly. The sausage with horseradish was delicious. My wife had bacon and eggs. I tried some of her bacon and I haven't had bacon like that since the last time I was in Europe. The meat and sausage in the market looks wonderful. I can hardly wait to get back there to buy some.

Very tasty Reuben

By russkwtx |

Stopped in here with a colleague for lunch and ordered the reuben. Really good sandwich, moist, good bread, plenty of lean meat. Only $7.95. Warm potato salad is killer. Great go-to place for lunch, consistently good.

Great little German deli & grocery

By okie_wanderer |

This is a great German deli & market! I was stationed in Germany for 6 years back in the 1980s to early ‘90s & decided to check out Kuby’s while I was in Dallas. I’m very glad I did! They have a nice selection of grocery items & an excellent German deli. The service was fantastic! I bought several different types of wurst & have tried 2 of them. They are extremely good, taking me back to the festivals, beer halls & restaurants of Bavaria & Rheinland Pfalz. The flavors, textures & “bite” are all correct. Johnsonville Brats (& many others) are just sausage & NOT real German bratwurst, these most definitely are. I also bought some “Wurst Salad”, something I had never heard of. All I can say about it is put it with some Ritz crackers & WOW, that’s good! I do wish their restaurant had reopened but, thanks to Covid, that was not to be. If the schnitzel is half as good as their wurst, it will be excellent! I’m from Oklahoma City & time I’m in Dallas, Kuby’s will be a must stop. Might even have to make an excuse to go!

Genuine, Bavarian style, German dishes, very reasonable prices.

By Fred S |

Virtually every kind of wurst is available on the menu, schnitzels, salats, etc. well prepared of quality ingredients. Adjoining market sells many Deutsche groceries to prepare at home. Zuppen und kaltfleischer also.

Market review, not the restaurant

By Martha G |

Heard about this in a bookstore while in line with German books. German deli foods and fresh wursts made on premises: good selection. Especially enjoyed the potato salad, red cabbage and sauerkraut, homemade mustard. Did not have time to check out the fresh meat dept. There was a line at the restaurant at mid-week lunch, so very popular. One hour free parking at the lot across the street with validation.

Quick lunch

By Kindra G |

We came for a quick lunch; we had less than an hour to park, eat and return to class. Parking was difficult to find at Snider Plaza. Not sure if it's always hard to find parking there or just at lunch time. Had to drop off hubby so he could get a table and get drink orders in. Luckily, our waitress Heidi was attentive and our food came out quickly. She also had an German accent which was fun to hear. We both ordered the pork schnitzel. It was fresh, hot and tasty, very large portion. Usually comes with sauerkraut and red cabbage I believe. I asked to try the potato salad and hubby got fries. We were served rye bread and butter as well. Overall a nice experience. Wish we had more time to sit and enjoy.

Sausage lovers

By Andy M |

Came here after seeing the Man Vs. Food review of this restaurant. Lovely and quaint inside with a nice shop at the side. Efficient staff and clear menu. Food was lovely and had to get a box to enjoy the rest later in the day.

Wonderful breakfast & lunch reasonably priced. Busy most of the time.

By jdalerose1 |

I have seldom had to wait for seating but it's crowded most of the time. The service is excellent at all times. It is noisy! The building dates from the 1930's I think. I like their breakfast the best. You get it exactly as ordered. The home fried potatoes are to die for. Thick crisp bacon and large eggs. The coffee is strong & very good. I ate lunch there today & ate a hot pastrami w/provolone cheese sandwich and was surprised that they are keeping the prices so reasonable. It might be the SMU poor student syndrome or the locals tend to be rich but smart w/their money. I worked in Snider Plaza as a produce manager for Ralph's Fine Foods for 4 years. The people I met there were some of the nicest folks I've known. You might try the other restaurants in the plaza as well. They were very good when I've been able to eat there. Make SURE you order your hamburger "Well Done" at the Cisco Grill.

My go to for breakfast from now on!

By LucyLoo87 |

We went here for breakfast and it was the best I have ever had... PERIOD. I don't remember the name it was called on the menu, but I got eggs benedict on a scratch made croissant, which was enough for two people. They also have a meat market and small grocery store which carries fresh fruits, veggies and several other items. This place is a MUST if you are in the area. I go here now quite frequently for my meats and a few other items.

Go for the wiener snitzel

By RIKIVOGEL |

I'm not sure how to spell it but the wiener snitzel was great, simply as good as I ate in Vienna last summer. The draft beer was excellent and the service fast. Red cabbage and potato salad good and fresh. My husband had the wurst platter and enjoyed that. A friend had the Reuben and said it was good too.

Nice Breakfast

By Steinbrenner |

Had a nice breakfast with family. Everything was good and the service was fast. This is a great place if you want to slow down with or without kids. If you are alone, they also have counter service.

Not for me..

By KC2733 |

The restaurant was clean. We ordered the potato pancakes and pimiento cheese, which were good. The Reuben sandwiches and bratwurst were not good. The service was fine and the prices were fair. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but nothing would make us return. Maybe German food isn't our thing?

Authentic German Food & Market

By JayneLandua |

Who would have guessed there would be such an authentic piece of Germany located right in Dallas. It's a German market with fresh produce, German specialties and meats, etc, in the left side of the building, and to the right a cozy dining room. I had perhaps the best Schnitzel I've ever had (and I've traveled to Germany). The dining room is cozy and comfortable, and we enjoyed the live German music (call ahead to see if he's playing when you plan to be there). Although we live in Houston, this place has moved to the top of our list as a favorite place to eat for our frequent visits to Dallas.

Old Stand By Still Good

By Fred W |

Enjoyed Kuby's when I lived in Dallas and it is still a solid choice for good German food. The place was crowded for lunch (always is) and yet our order was taken quickly and brought to us with out delay. Well prepared and delicious. It took a little while to get the check but not bad. I only wish Kuby's was open for dinner though out the week and not just on weekends.

Still a Dallas Icon

By Robert M |

Enjoyed our dinner here last Saturday night and as ususal the Food was great---great food and great desserts. I've been coming to this restaurant since 1969--it is truly a unique experience with both the market and restaurant.

Always delicious!

By Stewart-Walton |

Can't wait to swing by for lunch whenever we are anywhere nearby. Open seating. If the counter is full, share a table and make a new friend. The grilled weisswurst is terrific. Love the warm German potato salad too. Friendly, attentive waitstaff, even in off peak times. Close-by parking is available in the little parking lot across the street if the Plaza is full. Remember to take your parking stub in to the hostess for validation if you eat there. Excellent meat market also.

Really Good

By Biriyaniboy B |

Great find in Dallas, a taste of Central Europe in the city. Great selection of Wurst and schnitzel with this being the US everything is large. Worth a detour to the European market as well.

Excellent food

By Tim P |

Great place to eat and shop for food to take home, they have a market with fresh brats. Fresh sauerkraut, fresh horseradish, I can't say enough how good their food is.

Great Weiner Schnitzel!

By Sammysue |

I love a Saturday lunch at Kuby's in Snider Plaza! From the minute you sit down you can begin to enjoy a good German experience. Ice cold beer, schnitzel and red cabbage what could make a better hearty lunch for a long day? The service is fast and efficient and the food piping hot and filling. Then you can search the butcher shop side for some good wursts and German food products including German candy to take home. This is really a great place to take children so they can experience a typical German meal. The wursts, smoked pork chops, potato pancakes and sauerkraut give an old world experience to everyone who eats here. If I would change just one thing, I think the bathrooms need to be updated and thoroughly cleaned! Other than that this is a fun place in a great little shopping area surrounded by neat stores and other fun restaurants.

Excellent

By Marg |

We visited on Friday 9-20-2019 at approximately 6pm. Service was fast and courteous even though the place was full. Food was brought out at the correct temperature and very fast. Double pork chop plate was absolutely mouth watering.

No better sausage-palace around

By GrodTzu |

Been coming here since 1966. Great market, deli, eatery. True German sausage-house. Authenticity. No pretense. Even if you hate sauerkraut, if part of your lunch at Kuby's - it's good. Try the cold potato-salad instead of hot; get a side-order of cheese to put on your wurst-of-choice. The soups are hearty - & to-die-for on a cold winter day. Consistent??? ... The same chow/dining experience unchanged for 49-years. Wouldn't have it any other way.

This was a bucket list place for me....

By C141Nav |

This was a bucket list place for me, but I don't need to go back. Don't get me wrong! I liked my meal. I had the Reuben sandwich with the hot German potato salad. It was good but just not what I expected. I am a 'sucker' for a Reuben sandwich which means that I will order that whenever I see it on the menu. Maybe my expectations were high. I felt the same way about the German potato salad. My wife had the Jager schnitzel and enjoyed the meal. The 'small' stein of beer was a half liter and enough for me. The price was reasonable.

Great lunch

By MagdaM138 |

Simple and authentic. The lunch was lovely and the choice at the deli counter was worth the drive . Reasonable prices.

Best in Dallas

By Gary C |

Now don't expect Bavaria here but it is the best you can get in Dallas and it is good. Don't miss the soups made daily. If you are there on Wed try the lentil.

Sausage Party 2!

By Jschaf |

Have been many times. Would recommend the sausages which are their specialty. We branched out today and ordered several different sandwhiches - schnitzel, Reuben and chicken breast. All were just so so - so stick with the sausage party!

We just keep coming back every Saturday

By socalalan1 |

This is a place where my wife and I have breakfast every Saturday morning. Great breakfasts at a very reasonable price, amazing and huge biscuits are a must. This is not a 5 star dinning experience, but a very friendly place to have a good casual meal.

Unexpected Authenticity

By Judy R |

Kuby's has been around for years, but we had never gone there. After a recent trip to Germany, we were craving some good German food, so we thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. Everything was delicious, from the schnitzel to the sausage, to the cabbage, to the beer. It was very similar to the food we had in Germany. There was even live entertainment by an accordian player. We will definitely go there again!

Even the Ham Sandwich is wonderful!

By mjwTexas |

I generally get the pork chops or schnitzel at Kuby's but on our last visit I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered the ham sandwich. OMG! A couple of hours later I was actually craving a ham sandwich! Who does that???? It was piled high with baked ham and cheese. The bread was fresh and wonderful. The only thing that upsets me is that I have to make another difficult decision when I go.....full meal or sandwich! I just might have to order both and get one to go! Thank you Kuby's for another wonderful experience.

FOOD

Great place for German food for breakfast, lunch and sinner. it is a experience that will have you coming back for more! Great take out and a butcher shop.

Amazing German food restaurant/groceries

By Bikram_Mom_Dad |

We decided to stop in and pick up some German sausages and specialized produce. The sausages variety’s amazing (weisswurst, knackwurts, fine bratwurst, smoke bratwurst ....) breads, mustards... If you are a fan of German cuisine this place is not to be missed.

Breakfast always good...

By Lee F |

Dependable, reasonable, good service. This restaurant is an institution. Best thing is the meat market and speciality grocery store. Smoked pork chops are great, as is wide choice of sausages.

Great Food (and Amazing Sausages--Worlds Best)

By MikeyMackTravels |

Have been coming to Kuby's for years. Really cool authentic German/European Restaurant and Grocery Store. Today, stopped in to pick up the most AMAZING Sweet and Hot Italian Sausages (Really--off the charts good). Picked up a few other German sweets. We then stopped into the Restaurant side to have some Chicken and Veal Schnitzel. YUMMY BRILLIANT GOOD.

Food Allergies stay away

By Carolyn G |

I notified my server about a life threatening food allergy and asked her what on the menu didnt contain that (we where a group of 7) she mentioned a few things. I picked one asked if she could please ask the kitchen to double and triple check. I had my EpiPen but didnt want to test it or the ambulance responce time. She came back and said the chef said it did not contain it. When dish arrived I verifed "You sure it dont contain it?" She said yes the kitchen assured me it did not. it smelled wonderful but right on top was several of the things I am very allergic to. Server took the dish and I went hungry. I dont know if the kitchen didnt believe me and wanted to see if I would go into anaphylaxis. she never asked, they don't know what's in their own product or simply dont care. Everyone else raved about there food...I could have ordered something else but was too scared to try. I did pick up bones, steaks to grill at home and candy from the market side. Enjoyed the atmosphere, prices, selection and market staff was awesome cannot rave about them enough. especially the meat counter guys. 6 other people in my party said the good was divine...mine tried to kill me so I cannot say for sure, it smelled and looked great though.

Das Foodzen ect Wunderfullenz!!!

By HarleyCowboy-Dallas, Texas USA |

Okay,... so my German - not so good... But don't let stop you - this is the best, greatest, and tasty-est German food outside of Hanover and this side of the Rhine river!!! OMGosh!!! The Potatoes (served in any form), the Sourkraut, Red Cabbage, the meats; Sausage, Pork, Chicken, are ALL Superb! German beir on tap - WoW! Service is pleasant, gracious, and ample. You will need some to-go-boxes because the portions are double sized! You won't be able to eat it all. Super casual atmosphere, warm and friendly, live music, and a Deli-shop too! German Chocolate cake slice to finish - Boom! (Mic drop...) Awesoooooome!!!

Perfect Combo: German Market & Restaurant

By tschuh |

Kuby's is a Snider Plaza icon. A staple for good German food as well as meat market, deli and groceries with a European flair. Dine, shop or do both and you won't be disappointed. Avoid high traffic hours or be prepared to wait, especially during weekend breakfast, lunch and weekend dinner(only served Friday & Saturday) times.

Nice place to have lunch in this "Gaststube"

By hannes1941 |

While visiting our son in Dallas, we wanted to buy some German cold cuts and this place was highly recommended. We ate three different type of sandwiches, belegte Brote, which were good, in size and flavor. The place is comfortable and the service good. I would like to give a higher rating, but the official site goes from average to very good. Good is the best description. The meat store is excellent and has a good variety fo German cold cuts,

Sher Gut

By Rick R |

In German or English no mater how u say or spell it the food and experience is very good. Seat yourself casual diner style eating with quick service from an obvious experienced wait staff. But what really makes this a five star is the food. Stuff you can’t get everyday but is great. If you like wurst or pork, cabbage slaws, pickles, potato salad and brown bread this is for you. All great taste.

Good for lunch

By Cheryl H |

As others have said, the food is fresh & tasty. I had the wurst sampler & they kindly substituted german potato salad. The service is prompt & efficient. The decor could do with an update. The food in the deli looks very appealing. A good place to get your German fix.

Never changes - always the best!

By Jean B |

I've been eating at Kuby's since 1967. Do NOT miss breakfast, and for heavens sake don't look past the first item on the menu. You may THINK you've eaten pork chops, but you haven't until you try Kaessler Rippchen. You'll want a dozen to go! I eat at Kuby's EVERY visit to Dallas, even if I am only in town for 24 hours! Oh, and don't forget the attached meat market/bakery! To die for!

Good German cooking

By Jedda1 |

We make a trip to Kuby's every few months to get our German fix and pick up "wursts" for the house. We just enjoy the family atmosphere of the place and the food is such a great value and always great tasting. We enjoy seeing regulars mixing it up with the staff and it makes it feel that much more special.

Lunch at Kuby's

By Rob S |

I have eaten at Kuby's several times over the past few years. My wife and I at lunch there on Friday, 12/1/2017. We arrived around 1:00. As usual it was very difficult to find a parking place. We circled for about 15 minutes. Kuby's was packed. There were about 25 kids from a private school there for lunch. They were teenagers. They were polite but were very noisy. It has always been crowded when I have been there. The food was very good. I had the Polish Sausage lunch plate. I would recommend this place if you like german food.

Guten Appetit!

By Ceara_Nevada |

Imagine walking through a German market (filled with fresh produce, German specialties, and any and all meat you could think of). Off on the side is a doorway that leads to a diner-like room. It's not too small but not too big. We sat at the bar and ordered two of the best German meals we have ever had. I ordered a roast beef entree and my boyfriend ordered a sausage dish (of which I forget the names to). Both were absolutely delectable, and I was even able to save half of mine for lunch the following day! We had fantastic customer service. Our waiter was very concerned about the moisture of the roast beef dish (of which was just right). Kuby's was a great find and we will definitely be back for breakfast!

Great German food-service not so much

By TexasTerry317 |

My schnitzel was great-cooked to perfection and huge. Red cabbage and German potato salad were super, too. Wasn't served any bread, which was a disappointment. Waitress was cold and didn't really care. Took my order(it was an effort), served me, never checked back. Deli area offers many German items you can't get anywhere else. Lots of choices for sausage, meats and cheeses. Only reason this isn't five-star is because of poor service

German food and atmosphere

By texaschic987 |

An authentic German experience right in the heart of Dallas! The restaurant offers a variety of typical German dishes and desserts, and the deli sells imported items from Germany.

Finally, good German Food

By 105lily101 |

After trying a couple of German restaurants in Fort Worth, I had about given up finding an authentic German restaurant. Kubys in Snider Plaza, Dallas, ended the quest. The restaurant is one of the oldest in the area, considered a landmark, I went for lunch, and upon entering the front door, I could see the place was packed. A lot of the customers appeared to be older, and regulars. Besides the booths and tables, there is a long bar where one can sit also. I ordered the chicken schnitzel, which was accompanied by red cabbage, potato salad, fresh horseradish and a light rye bread. The piece of schnitzel was huge, and the sides were quite ample. I loved the crispiness of the schnitzel and the horseradish with it. Really good. My friend ordered the sausage plate with 2 sausages so we could share. The sausages are huge, and even though we split our meals to share, it was a huge amount of food. We had wanted to try the potato pancakes, but we already had too much, so we'll get those next time. The atmosphere is old school, our service was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. On the other side of the restaurant, there is a German grocery with deli meats, salads and other German goodies. The prices are phenomenal. The sausage plate with one sausage plus sides is $6.96. The schnitzel plate was $8.95. A true bargain with good food! Since this is in Snider Plaza, parking is plaza parking; at least I didn't see any dedicated parking although we didn't go around to the back of the building. There are lots of interesting shops in the plaza to visit as well.

A Dallas Tradition - Good German Food Close to SMU

By CC C |

it's been a while but just had a hankering for German food so used the excuse of out of town friends visiting to stop by for lunch. Wienerschnitzel and Reuben sandwiches, served along with tasty German potato salad and slaw filled the bill quite nicely. The taste is still authentic and the atmosphere homey. Added plus of the small bakery and deli adjoining the dining room which allowed us to stock up on Apple and Cherry Strudel to enjoy at home.

Takes You Back

By Comandante-of-Fun |

Found this place while visiting nearby SMU for work. Rich with atmosphere-- old German casual restaurant with Texas flavor. Plenty of kitsch yet totally authentic. The sausages are excellent. I sampled several, along with German potato salad, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. Washed down with a cold beer. Comfort food at it's best.

Awesome German breakfast! Must stop in!

By Lance G |

Awesome food lot better than expected regardless of the high reviews prior to us going there! Reasonably priced awesome food even down to the potatoes.

Coming here for years

By Mixed-Up Burger... M |

My grandmother was full blood German and we found Kuby's years ago. Well, we've come here ever since and have always enjoyed the food !!! The service is a shot in the dark and is never consistent but we seem to overlook that for the quality of the food. Food - 5 Service - 3 Atmosphere - 4

Saturday late lunch

By mtran_12 |

LOVE Kuby's!!!! We've been coming here for years. Saturday we were seated at the counter since they were full, but the service was still very attentive! We got the three sausage platter with potato salad and cabbage.....DELICIOUS!!! Of course we had to stop into the grocery store and buy some summer sausage and cheese!

Serving Dallas Since 1961

By Rhodesm |

Kuby's is located in Highland Village near SMU. They have been serving amazing German food since 1961. The meat market and adjoining meat market sells and serves all traditional German food you want. We enjoined traditional brats, potato pancakes, appetizer brat sampler plate and some Pilsner draft. Great place to get your German food fix.

Great breakfast

By Rebecca A |

We had a delicious German breakfast this morning - especially loved the smoked sausage and pork chops - and loved the quaint atmosphere also - will definitely be going back soon....

Great Food! Great Value

By Psychic B |

I thought I would try the Wurst Bites as an appetizer and look over the menu. The waitress brought out a platter with half of the plate covered with sauerkraut and the other half with red cabbage. Heaped on top was a variety of sausage pieces, Did I say heaped? I meant heaped. A little bit of horseradish was included in a small container. The table mustard was delicious. The sausage was delicious. The sauerkraut was delicious. The red cabbage was fantastic. I ate it all and could not order anything else.....except for ice tea. The Wurst Bites was $5.95. Best deal around. However, I spent a fortune in their meat market.

Always a Traditional Breakfast Stop During Holidays

By Lee F |

Nothing new wave or out of the ordinary, but always predictable. Great place for a family outing. We love the kaessler ripchen—-smoked pork chops—-and usually split a breakfast order. Service is prompt and thorough and prices are reasonable. Best benefit is the great market next door—-steak tartar, wonderful tenderloins cut to order, bacon and great variety of wursts and sausages always get my attention.

Authentic German Food

By kate408 |

If you come on the weekend, be prepared for a crowded, loud, small diner. You may also have to wait anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. However, it is well worth the wait. They have a sausage plate with red cabbage, a pickle, german potato salad, and 1-4 sausages (your choice) that is around $6. They have good german beer and friendly staff. You can buy the things you ate in their market on the other half of the building. My one complaint is they do not serve pretzels or pretzel rolls, but rather rye bread. It kind of takes away from the experience for me. My husband's biggest complaint is they have switched to a cheaper mustard and apparently it is not as good as their high end version from earlier this year.

Best and Most Authentic German food at value prices

By roseboyz |

Everything on the menu looked great. it was busy, but we still had excellent and friendly service. My friend and I ordered different foods and shared. Both of us were pleased. The restaurant also has an adjoining German grocery store offering an extensive fresh meat counter, bakery and even German dairy products. It was fun to browse in there after our lunch. Good food at a good price and excellent service.

Fabulously delicious

By Jenn1115 |

We saw Kuby's on Man vs, Food - the German food was beyond good. We met the owner's son, Cody, who was really nice and made us feel very welcome. This is a "must visit" in Dallas

Awesome Restaurant, Great Deli

By MJWalsh |

I loved this place. I didn't buy anything at the deli, since I didn't have a fridge or a stove or oven back at my room, but it was a fantastic looking deli with great selection, fair prices and friendly service. The restaurant was great. Service was fast and friendly. The sausage platters were amazing and the schnitzel was delicious. The sides were good. The potato pancake appetizers were very good. The decor and architecture added to the experience. They let me take my soda refill to go, too, so I now have a plastic cup as a reminder of my visit. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.

Breakfast sehr gut (very good)

By AGEtraveler |

I've heard that Kuby's serves up a mean breakfast, but I recently got to try it out myself. I was not disappointed. I ordered the King Ludwig breakfast, which was the German version of eggs benedict. The eggs, tomatoes, and bacon were served on a homemade slice of rye bread. It came with a side of light and crispy skillet potatoes - which were really good. Make sure you head over to Kuby's next time you are looking for a breakfast spot. Oh, and then pick up some wieners or bratwursts in the meat market for dinner.

Fun Atmosphere, ok food

By Carmen1318 |

went here on a saturday night for dinner. ordered some bratwurst samplers. the bratwursts were good, but didn't really care for the sides (potatoes and sauerkraut). maybe it's because i realized im not that into german food. overall, this place is good, with a fun atmosophere, especially for families. they have live music on weekends. they also have a grocery store next door that sells german food.

Good eats

By smumba |

Nice family owned German restaurant. Great meats, especially the smoked pork chops. Basic breakfast and lunch menu. Excellent attached market that includes brats, prepared salads, basic groceries and an amazing meat counter. We return over and over!

Decent sausages for little money

By Pauak |

The place is located in University Park, so if you're in the neighborhood have lunch here. For a informal dinner with friends it may also be an option. Is definitely not a place for a romantic or a business meal. I've heard it usually very crowded but we went a Saturday at 2pm and there was plenty of room. The waiter was ok, did his job; nothing exciting. The menu is kind of short, and would say that the best option is to go for "wurst plate" with 2 or 3 sausages. The weisswurst was pretty tasteless, but the nuremberger was really good. The bratwurst and polish were OK. The potato salad AWESOME, and the shoucrute the best I've had. Summary: don't expect the best meal in the world, but the price is low, and you get off the beaten path by eating some German for a change.

Nice change

By KimberlyTauch |

Worth the drive down from Blue Ridge to Dallas! Casual family atmosphere. Loved that after lunch we could browse the grocery and pick up some wonderful things to cook at home. Will definitely be back and bring friends. Everything was delicious.

Great lunch

By Dave Porter |

Libya is a Dallas icon and has been here for about 79 years. Besides being a great German grocery it has a fantastic cafe that serves wurst and schnitzel with all the sides. The food is good and the prices are very reasonable. It can be crowded at peak times, so if you are in a hurry sit at the counter!

Nice neighborhood German Restaurant and market

By texasrepublichistory |

As others have said, Kuby's is a great place for German food. It is fairly small and was very busy when we were there for lunch on a Friday. Service was great and the food arrived promptly. One thing to remember - Kuby's is located in a very busy neighborhood shopping center and parking can be difficult. Have patience and keep circling until a spot opens up. Also remember that the local police have a strong presence in the center and are strict about traffic and parking violations. Besides the good food, the market is excellent, with a wide variety of fresh meats, sausages, cheese, breads, and German specialty food items. A fun stop.

Good breakfast

By Kahanna |

We had a very enjoyable breakfast at Kubys cafe. Great value and good food. We had pancakes, sauasage eggs. Served with toast and fried potatoes. This is a neighborhood favorite and has been around for many years. They also have a German market in the building where you can get home baked goods and German food it is really fun to look around.

Transported to Germany

By Audry K |

This German market/restaurant is so good! The atmosphere makes you feel like you have walked into a little pub in Germany and the food is wonderful. My favorite is the Bratwurst with sauerkraut, red cabbage, and German potato salad. The potato pancakes with applesauce and the German chocolate cake are also wonderful.

Typical German Fare in an Authentic Setting

By Trip4AWeekend |

Weiner Schnitzel was perfectly cooked. Warm potato salad should have had some bacon in it. Red cabbage side was a little sweet for me. Would go back if/when in area but won't make a special trip.

I still win!

Wife likes to shop at Tory Burch. Daddy likes German food Kuby's is Extra good! Menu is simple but all dishes are delightful. The best part is going to the meat market/deli next door and getting Cold cuts to take home. My o my it is greatness I get Aufschnitt of meat and throw it on one of their pretzels and man that is some good eatin. I also get the gold casing liver wurst and put that on pretzel too! Breakfast place to be

By GoAndDo |

I feel like breakfast at Kubys is a warm comforting meal of great food and longtime friendly staff. It is easy to see that everyone there is content and happy. Regulars. Awesome german choices for breakfast as well as traditional favorites. I had the french toast-german style and not one bite was left. I will be returning as soon as possible.

Butcher Shop. German Grocery. Restaurant.

I haven't had a chance to eat at the restaurant; but stocked up on German Sausages and groceries and will be back as there are so many varieties of sausage to try. Beer, Sausage, Spaetzel, pickles, mustard, sweets... and house made Streudel.

A Dallas Institution

By Robert M |

Still love coming to this restaurant. The wait staff all are very tenured, many with more than 10 years of service. We had supper here on Saturday and the Schnitzel was better than ever. Our family has been coming here since the mid 70's and recently our 7 month old grandson made his first two visits. Delicious desserts.

love the breakfast

By ChopperBenny |

When I'm in that part of town, I stop by. Great Ruben sandwiches. Sausage plates are wonderful. The servers could smile a little more. Good German place

Quality issue

By Maria T |

The quality of meat is appalling. We bought our Christmas meat here and the ground beef is inedible. It’s priced higher than whole foods, but the there are pieces of cartilage in the meat.

Times they are a changin'

By Chris |

Being a naturalized American coming from Germany, I fell in love with this place when moving to Texas 4 years ago. I dearly love their market, as you can find the VERY BEST Wurst and deli products.....also, the grocery section is awesome! HOWEVER, the service in the restaurant, is poor, at best lately and the food seems to be going down hill. I've always come early to the restaurant part, since they fill up fast...the service was SLOW, very SLOW and the servers really didn't seem to care about you or your meal. The potato salad was different, not the nice hot bacon stuff and they have either dropped the sauerkraut or red cabbage......you can order a side, but stand by--it's really over-priced. No more nice shy bread.....I'm thinking twice about going back, especially with friends who are first timers at the place!

Wunderbar

By Michael S |

My wife is German and she's told me about this place. So when I was close by I stopped in and picked up several items for her from the deli. She was extremely excited. Thank you Kuby's

Always good

By Ashley R |

The food here is always good. We take our kids for breakfast and lunch. Classic German food, great sandwiches. Breakfast eggs, pancakes etc.

Very good breakfast

By Joe B |

My wife and I enjoyed breakfast at Kuby's the other day. Kuby's offers very good food at a reasonable price. Traditional breakfast fare such as omelets, eggs, pancakes, and such are joined by German favorites like potato pancakes, Kasseler Ripchen, and other scrumptious items.

Authentic German/European restaurant and market

By JParlante |

I don't know why the whole campus from SMU isn't in here having lunch. It's a relatively small dining area with an absolutely attentive wait staff. The food is outstanding. You can get a sausage platter with 1, 2 or 3 wursts of your choice along with warm German potato salad, red cabbage and kraut. A few slices of delicious bread and you have a small feast to contend with. Weinerschnitzel the size of a hat is also a meal with the cabbage and kraut. And pickle slices. Any of these plates are under $10!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I try to go there every time I am in Dallas. The food is wonderful and plentiful! The service is great.

What a cool German market

By TikiTex |

We have been hearing about this great little market for a while. We decided to drop by on our way to other business in north Dallas and are we glad we did. They have the curry ketchup that we can only find in Houston and then lots and lots of other cool German foods. The sausage case is loaded as it should be.... my only regret was that I didn't have a cooler to take home all the items I wanted...

Great German Food

By Rita P |

I eat lunch at Kuby's twice a week. They have wonderful German food. There is a different homemade soup daily, and they are all so delicious. My favorite is the potato leek soup. The waiters and waitresses are absolutely the best! They make you feel so welcome. I highly recommend this family owned restaurant!!

Wonderful German Food

By BK33458 |

Their food is simply terrific and very reasonable prices. The environment is clean and the atmosphere is pleasant. The luncheon plate I chose included warm German Potato Salad, Red Cabbage, Seasoned Sauerkraut and Knockwurst, Weisswurst and German Sausage. Awesome!! If you like German food you'll love this popular place! You can stop in their adjoining market and buy some to take home!

Get your German fix!

By Jedda1 |

Always enjoy going to Kubys for my German food fix! The wurst and sauerkraut are great and the value exceptional. We always eat and then visit the grocery store to take some home. The decor is simple and the service always is simple and efficient. A must if you want good sausage!

Server was so rude!!

By S L |

Firstly took ages for anyone to come to the table with menus. Then when our server came, she acted like she really couldn’t be bothered to be there. Rude when I asked about the kids menu and asked if we could replace the fries with something else (no, not all kids want fries believe it or not!). Then brought the check when I hadn’t even asked for it while I was still eating. Too bad, as we were going to get some dessert. Then when she came to clear the table, she didn’t even say thank you when I helped put a fallen knife back on the plate for her. She didn’t say thank you ONE time. Food was average at best. Food in the store though is great. The German lady that works behind the deli counter is great. Straight to the point and gets it done. Today unfortunately, I was served by a young girl who couldn’t slice my deli meats thin enough when I asked for “really thin”. She obviously didn’t want to be there today either. Next time I’ll wait for the German lady.

Great food and love the store

By Bryan B |

Stopped there for food while passing through town. Had some very good sausage. Food was really good and they had a variety. The big surprise was the little market next door. Their selection was off the chart. We want to go back there when we are headed home. That way we can bring stuff back with us.

Great Food at Reasonable Prices

They only serve dinner on Friday and Saturday Nights. The Rolladen, red cabbage and spatzel were excellent and priced at $12.95. The Schnitzle was tender and served hot. It comes with a mixed salad. There is only 1 draft beer on tap. It's a good German beer. They do serve a larger selection of bottled beer. Service was good. We will go back.

Great Tradition

I’ve been coming here for years, and it’s always great. Order the Wurst Bites as an appetizer if you want to try small pieces of all the different sausages. They also have a great Potato leek soup on some days.

Excellent priced, home style food

We love going to Kuby's, food is great. Excellent with family, price is great too. We also order some Sausage plates, I posted them separately so that next time I can look it up and remember what they are.

Love this place

By KB_222014 |

My wife and I have been eating here for years. We had dinner here last night and loved it, as usual. I ordered the Kase Schnitzel, which is topped with cheese, mushrooms and onions. The mashed potatoes are great, and I also love the recently-added dumplings. If you don't want anything too exotic, try the Bauernbrot, which is a collection of cold cuts and bread so you can make your own sandwich. The desserts are all delicious - but my favorite is the coconut cream pie. After dinner, pick up some German chocolates and sausages from the market attached to the restaurant. Parking here is terrible, but the food is certainly worth it.

a real favorite get there early

Kuby's is a Dallas tradition and has been here as long as i can remember. the food is good and man sized portions. either bring your own parking space or come by helicopter. not that bad but a big problem anytime around lunch time.

nice German food

By naneliz |

The food was solid German fare - not many choices - and the restaurant had a European feel. However, the staff were impatient and unkind and it was not very clean or quiet.

Traditional German fare

By leahmigala |

My family has been shopping and eating at Kuby's since the 1960s, and have always been very pleased with the deli selection and quality. I have eaten lunch there twice in the past month, once with family and once with colleagues, and recommend it. Over the years, the only significant change has been the staff, although still overseen by the owners. The staff is not as friendly or attentive as it has been historically, and are not very knowledgeable about the fare; so it is beneficial to know something about what you're interested in. Kuby's is a traditional old world deli and restaurant with traditional german/alpine decorations. If you are looking for a modern or new age, don't come here.

Still A Winner In My Book

We used to go to Kuby's with friends and family all the years that we lived in Dallas. It is an icon in Snider Plaza near the SMU campus. We were in Dallas to visit our sons and daughter-in-law and we were at the George W. Bush Library and thought it would be nice to visit an "old friend". Well, it sure hasn't changed. It is in an old building with one half being a supermarket specializing in German foods and the other half a restaurant. We sat down at a big wooden table and were promptly greeted by our server. Many of us ordered the sausage platter - with different types of sausage - another got the smoked pork chops and the other ordered the ham & cheese sandwich. Everyone gave their meals a thumbs up from the sausages, pork chops, red cabbage, sauerkraut and German potato salad. The prices here are amazingly inexpensive, too. I sure wish I could duplicate Koby's down in the Austin area.

Still The Same - Memories Better Than Reality

By One2Travel4Fun |

I don’t think much has changed since I ate here in 1979. I would bet that the chairs and tables haven’t been updated. Kuby’s is German food in a German atmosphere in a quaint little shopping area near SMU. The food is economical. The food is okay. If you are here on a Friday morning you can see the business of Dallas being conducted at some of the worn tables. I ate breakfast and lunch here during a recent visit to Dallas. I would say that my memories of Kuby’s with my friends is better than today’s realty.

Never a bad experience

I have been to this place multiple times for the past 11 years. I love it. The food has always been excellent, their market is to die for, and the service has always been top notch. Their pork chops are so succulent, that it's hard not to order a side of them with the rest of a meal. Their menu is small, which means you don't have to turn page after page of options. I like a lot of options, but it also means that what I'm getting will be the best of their best. Come for a meal, shop the market, and smile for these wonderful people. They have never disappointed me.

Best German in Dallas

By MPH200 |

Kuby's is not just a restaurant, but a European grocery store & meat processor. The Schnitzel is my favorite, very tender, never overcooked. The potatoe pancakes are the best I have ever had. The wurst salad has a great flavor as well. Service is good. There tends to be a line at lunch time so budget some wait time.

Great value for some good food.

Had a very nice dinner with the Mrs before a Dallas Wind Symphony concert. I had the Jäger Schnitzel and she had the Bayrische Spätzle. Both were well portioned and well prepared. The German potato salad was very tasty as was the red cabbage. The service provided by Aaron was very good. All in all a great value for some great German cuisine.

Kuby's German

By Mlarsen880 |

My wife and I decided to have a German meal this weekend, and had been referred to Kuby's by a close friend. The food was very good, I had the Wiener schnitzel while my wife had the brat on a bun with sides of sauerkraut and German potatoes. I enjoyed mine immensely and tried a small portion of the brat. Kuby's has a large deli adjacent to the diner, well stocked and very busy. Parking was a challenge but worth the circling the block a couple of times. Well worth the price, highly recommend.

Solid Good German Meals!

By CBlack3 |

Karl Kuby and his family have been a dining favorite for decades. Year after year Kuby's is the best place for authentic German home cooking in the Park Cities. Every meal is "solidly good!" The wiener schnitzel tastes like what you get in Munich. Das bier ist kalt un gut! .... and you can place your order in German as well. Enjoy a Dallas mainstay.... enjoy the gemütlich of dining with the Kuby family.

A good place for cheap eats

By JSAdams2014 |

The food is good and cheap. Some of the ladies had food to take home, and nobody spent more than $10! This place is famous for its house-made sausages and rightly so. I had a Reuben and it was great. Our vegetarian got split pea soup and raved. No one was disappointed.

Everything we were told!!!

By FranCarrollton |

My husband is half German, and loves everything German!! It figures, right? Living in far north Dallas we were eager to find a place like this. Having plenty of restaurants in our area, we rarely venture far. But when a friend told him about this small restaurant, we had to check it out. Oh, my! Open seating, so wait for a table to be available. These ladies work fast, though. We had a very pleasant lady taking our order and she was very savvy about what she serves. I think she was German. Orders come pretty quick. I had the smoked pork chops and these were the best I ever had. Not extremely salty, just perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Of course the German potato salad is amazing. My husband had 2 types of bratwursts. They have so many types. Goodness!. He had trouble deciding which to try! The sides, purple apple cabbage and sauerkraut were so delicious, you'd think you were somewhere in Germany. We tasted great German food in Munich and Berlin, so we couldn't tell the difference. But I can tell you that there's another German restaurant in north Dallas, and the food did not impress us when we tried it. We wanted to try the apple strudel, but had no room for it. We should have had to go, right? That's ok. We know we will be back... SOON! You will love it, along with terrific prices to go with it! check their business hours before you go. and don't forget to browse the market. You can take some of those great brats home!!

Home away from home!

Schnitzel and Rouladen just like Grandmas (Oma) used to make. The delicatessen next door has all the essentials and and incredible selection of wurst or sausages. Best kept secret are the bagels. Closest thing to NYC in Dallas

Not impressed just average tasting German food,

By Dansladen |

My German wife heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and decided to give it a try. I picked the Jaeger Schnitzel which did not impressed me due to the type of gravy used which just tasted like regular brown gravy from a local supermarket. My wife ordered the Kasseler and while she liked the taste of the meat, the salad was not even close to the German style salads we are used to. In all, service was good and the meal was affordable but the chef(s) need to improve the quality and taste of the meals (most important part in my opinion).

Yum!!!

So good! I had the pork Wiener schnitzel. Great price and a ton of food! Came with red cabbage, potato salad, salad and rye bread. Totally 2 meals! Can't wait to eat the left overs!

Great breakfast

By Vila2405 |

We were starving after a long flight and were not dissapointed with Kuby's. The portions are more than generous and the food is delicious. The jalapeno cheddar sausage is very good, but the best part are the country potatoes, which are on almost every breakfast plate. They are heavenly. Don't forget to visit the German market; it has a lot of european food and the greatest variety of sausages i've ever seen.

wunderbar!

By Maks S |

LOVE the food in the restaurant AND in the Deli attached! Both let you have real German food at VERY fair prices! 100% recommend

Germantastic and fun for whole family

motherland of sausage (Weiss veal my fav), kraut, potato salad, red cabbage. Solid breakfast and lunches to satisfy even the most serious and compartmentalized Germans. Suggestion box, is this thing on, please put Spaten optimator on tap.

Lunch outing

By Allen T |

Lunch for a group of 8. We had a variety of wursts and sandwiches. All good, with fast, friendly service. Price was very reasonable. Also there is a full deli along with the restaurant. Be aware that parking in Snider Plaza can be challenging at times, but worth it for good German food!
