Good burgers

By M L B |

My wife and I went to Kuma's on the recommendation of a friend. We weren't disappointed...it is good bar food. The burgers are very good, and the beer selections is tremendous. We sat outside on the back patio...the only complaint we had is that the chairs outside couldn't have been more uncomfortable. Not sure what the problem was, but my wife and I are not the same size/dimensions, and we both found them to be very uncomfortable. We would return, but given the number of bars and restaurants in Chicago would also like to try, we probably won't.

This location is a must visit

By Jeff B |

This was our first time in the original and this will be the location I go to always. You definitely get a different vibe here, than some of the newer locations. Same great food and beer list, but the staff are more interesting and the feel is more metal. It was loud and hot the day we went. Even with that, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Keep in mind this location is small so you may have to wait. Metal, beer and the best burgers make for a perfect combination.

Burger is worth the hype

By Jennifer S |

This is a screamingly loud death metal bar, however, you won't care because the burger is soo good. Amazing quality meat, scrumptious fries and a great beer list. A must go in Chicago

Must try!

By Michael M |

I don't think there is one negative to this place. First off the atmosphere is awesome! Along with the heavy metal that is playing. If you don't like that type of music don't worry the food is well worth it. We tried the fried pickles which were probably some of the best that we ever had. The burgers were awesome, I would highly recommend the Led Zeppelin. Also had the August burger of the month which has shrimp on it. What a crazy combo but awesome flavor!! The fries were honestly the best I ever had! If you don't care for fries the chip were very good as well. I also can't complement the waitress we had enough. Thank you for the great service!!

Fresh and loud

By Mayandollar |

The food was very very fresh and delicious! The building is beautiful and a great vibe indoors. I had one of the finest beers ever here! Lots of local beers. Server friendly and attentive. If you love metal music this is the place. Came with my goth niece and she liked the music !

Awesome burgers

By Tina Tomas |

Perfect burgers with great selection of beers. Sometimes the music is loud but I focus on food most of the time. Great creativity on the menu and its a probably top place for burgers in Chicago.

Big Food and Loud!

By MichaelKohn1 |

Had a blast at this place away from downtown in the Avondale Neighborhood. Great burgers, crazy vibe and huge portions. The staff are covered in tattoos, the music is loud but what a great place. Get the mac and cheese but be prepared to be stuffed.

Marvelous Macaroni!

By ParisgalChicagoIL |

Yes we always enjoy a heavenly hamburger and truly fabulous fries (NO waffle fries! Love that on the menu) so the basic Kuma's burger was our entree….with a bowl of mac and cheese with bacon and pulled pork as a superb starter.

Mmm.. Burger.

By Brian L |

Okay, so I had been going to this place regularly before I registered on Trip Advisor. Then I moved away from Chicago, leaving me only memories of how great the burgers are. I recently decided to move back to Chicago and went for my first burger here in four years. I was instantly reminded of how damn good the burgers are. Nothing beats Midwest beef. The burgers are huge and often piled high with different (sometimes weird) toppings, all of them themed after a metal band. I've had most of them, and they are all good in their own way. The Slayer is the "burger exception" which is basically a bunch of meat dumped onto a french fry landfill. You're unlike to finish it, but it is really good. It's just not a burger at all. The mac n' cheese is easily the best I have had anywhere. Which was bad when I moved away because maybe ONE place matched the deliciousness of the mac here. Now that I am back, I have access to the best mac I have ever had. You choose the ingredients to be mixed in. Choose wisely. If you love burgers, beer, and babes with tattoos and piercings then this is a place you'll love. If you're from out of town and have lived a sheltered and coddled existence then this place might just blow your mind.

Death Metal and Burgers

By Amanda W |

My husband has been begging me to try this place for MONTHS after reading they were voted one of the "best burgers in Chicago" so I finally gave in. It was certainly an experience lol. The burgers are good, don't get me wrong, but I'd hardly consider them to be one of the best in Chicago. It did have that homemade taste to it but the toppings, while some were very creative, still weren't anything crazy that I haven't seen at other various places. Beware if you're not into spicy foods; many of the burgers had a pepper option included. We went on a super cold day and the place is surprisingly smaller than I had expected. The door had some sheets in front of them to block the wind but the place was still FREEZING cold. You never know how talented you are until you're eating a burger with two hands with a coat on and manage not to spill anything. The craft beer selection was good; quite a few to try and lots of seasonal options. The fries were delicious when they first came out hot, but when they cool down, they are not nearly as tasty and they actually get kind of hard. The death metal music was fun and gave the place some "attitude" but you will have to speak up when talking to your table mates. Not a bad place at all but for how out of the way it is, I'm sure there's other great burger options that are closer.

The best

By Carlitos R |

Simply the best burgers in town and with a good beer selection, you may need to make a line but its worth it. Try the Kumas burger

Can't beat a Kuma's Burger!

By AdventuresOfMikey |

My friend and I really enjoyed our burgers! Despite ordering them both well done, they were still very juicy and full of flavor! We will for sure go back the next time we visit Chicago!

What a hamburger!

By v19g69 |

I was there for lunch just before to take my flight back to Italy and it was so amazing. I took the Kuma's burger and for the first time in my life I had a real hamburger! If you're in Chicago this place really deserve a visit.

Excellent burger and cool atmosphere!

By Jen S |

We found this place recommended by tons of people and decided to check it out on our trip to Chicago. To start let's just say this place is always packed. Busy all the time no matter what day or time. We came here twice, one time on a Saturday and once on a Sunday. Both times we had to wait but Sunday was a much shorter one then Saturday. The staff here are basically all the goth kids from your high school now working as servers in a metal music burger joint. Every staff member we encountered was nice though both times so no complaints there. The food here is my favorite part so let's talk about that a bit. I got the led zepplin burger which comes with pulled pork on top, I also sub a ceaser which is always fresh and a huge portion. The meat is delicious. Perfectly seasoned and fresh everytime. We also had the fried pickles which were good but a lot of breading. The only reasons I can't give this place five stars is because 1. there's no air conditioning, so it it's hot you're just screwed 2. No reservations and always a wait 3. The music inside is so loud you can't hear yourself think or hear what the person is saying in front of you

Good hearty food

By SmallTownWanders |

Stopped in with a couple of friends. Love being able to grab a drink at the bar and sit down to a few drinks. Food is awesome, love the diversity in the menu and combos you probably wouldnt do yourself

Great Burger and Brew !

By Jay B |

One of the city's best burger spots. Best thing I like is, the meat is ground fresh daily. It's not a pre-frozen product. The pretzel bun is absolutely delicious. One warning, THIS IS A BURGER JOINT, the menu has over 15 different burgers at any given time. If you don't eat burgers, I would advise you to look at the menu (online) before you go. The beer selection is wonderful with some great IPA's. If you are a burger and beer person then this is a go to destination, and the atmosphere is great.

This place is great.

By Bob F |

It is a long wait for the food. But when it does come it is great!! I would eat here anytime again again when I lived in the neighborhood. I was just back a few month ago and I had a burger and a bloodymary. Both were excellent!!

FANTASTIC

By alexchicago1 |

One of my favorite burger spots! Burgers are huge and come with fries or house salad- this salad has THE BEST DRESSING EVER. My favorite burger is the Mastodon or the OG Kumas burger. All burgers can come instead as chicken breasts, chicken tenders, impossible burger. The chicken tenders are delicious. Great and huge beer selection. Loud metal music playing with muted movies on the TV at the bar. Please go! You won’t be disappointed.

best burger of my life!!!

By kmgodwin22 |

My first Kuma's experience on my first visit to Chicago and let's just say I'll willingly come back every single time I go back to Chicago! I ordered the Led Zeppelin burger and it was delish! We didn't have to wait long and the waitress was amazing!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service.

By Craig T |

Unique burgers not found anywhere else. Loud rocking atmosphere. Servers and kitchen staff always hustling to keep their customers happy. I love this place.

Respect

By David_never_Dave |

Kuma's Corner is our favorite metal bar at which to get a burger. Also our favorite burger place to listen to metal. Great selection of beers on tap which is a great feature during the wait to sit. It's a good idea to go often enough to also enjoy the mac & cheese on some trips, that's also excellent. The food is just as good at the additional locations, but those don't reproduce the environment of the original. We'll stick with that one.

Awesome Burgers

By GoodTimeSmitty |

Went to grab dinner with a friend while in the city and decided to give this place a go. There was a wait to be seated but we were able to grab a couple seats at the bar to avoid the wait. Couldn't decide on what to get so we chose to split 3 of the burgers. Every single one was delicious. We had the GoatSnake, Mastodon, and Souvenir. All of them were great but I think the Souvenir was the favorite. Will definitely come back for another visit when I'm in Chicago. You definitely won't leave this place hungry.

Itself Was Worth The Trip to Chicago

By brayzinski |

I was traveling on my own and saw that this had been on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" on the Food Network. I got a cab from my place in downtown and headed on in. It has a heavy metal/rock vibe, but not overwhelming in noise, clientele or motif. I sat at the bar since I was on my own and could not have had a better bartender (wish I had her name to recommend her). I got the Led Zeppelin burger (burger, cheese, bacon, pulled pork BBQ) and fries. The burger was so good (got it medium) and filling that I didn't get to eat many of my fries. Their hard cider "Smash-intosh" was a great cider, not too dry with a little sweetness, which over ice, was just heavenly. I highly recommend you stopping in for a local gem and you will not regret it!

Atmosphere!

By FakyCZ |

Great burgers, but stunning atmosphere, loud music, kung fu movies and horors on TV and smoke from grill.. not good for everyone. But absolutely stylish.

Go here!!!!

By nsullins13 |

So here is the deal. My wife is a big heavy metal fan, or should I say was when she was younger. She wanted me to go so as a loving husband I went. I thought that I would hate everything about it- but I really enjoyed the experience. Bartenders were really attentive and knew their beer. The burger was F-ING delicious and we really enjoyed our time there and would absolutely visit every time we we come back to Chi town.

DE-LIC-IOUS!

By 1012heidik |

We have been going to Kumas Corner for the last 6 years! It is a MUST stop every time we are in Chicago! This month (August) I decided to order the BOTM (Burger of the Month)... Leviathan. How could you go wrong with Shrimp, Apple wood Smoked Bacon, Brie Cheese, sweet chili Dijon, Paprika Aioli, and Parsley. It was amazing just like all the rest of their offerings... If you have not tried this gourmet heavy metal burger bar you are definitely missing out!

Amazing Burgers

By Gus |

These are the best burgers in town in my opinion. The wait could be a very long time to get a bite to eat. Many famous people eat at Kumas.

Amazing Burgers

By Lanny M |

Got into Chicago late and our host recommended this place. Amazing! Excellent beer selection, burgers are all built quite cleverly with different toppings, but the true greatness is the burger itself. Seasoned perfectly and cooked to temp. And as a side note, probably the best hand cut fries we've ever had

Loud, Proud Hamburger Palace

By scottagordonsg |

Kuma's Corner is a hard metal hamburger palace with the entrees named after metal and hard rock groups. The burgers are GREAT and the setting is LOUD and the experienceis well worth it.

Good burgers

By Erin H |

The hamburger was huge. Do not order an appetizer if you are going get a burger. The pretzel bun made it an above average burger. It was good for a hamburger. The downside was all the smoke in there because they cook everything just of to the side of the bar.

Great burger

By Brian G |

After visiting the near by Revolution Brewery for a tour, it was time for some food. Just a short walk away was Kuma's Corner. We entered looking for a table for two. We were told it would be 90 minutes. If you can find bar space, you can eat at the bar. Somehow though we were seated very quickly. Most other waiting were groups of 5 and wouldn't fit at the table that was available. We started with a beer of course. They had about 8 drafts and 30 different bottles. Pretty good beer selection. For an appetizer, we chose the fried pickles. They were very good! Then came the burger. Wow. Huge and great tasting. Food came pretty quick and price was reasonable. Would recommend, but be ready to wait.

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome.

By xamers |

5-star burgers for me. Amazing food. Even the mac and cheese was good. If you aren't into heavy metal then sit in the porch area. If you like hamburger, you'll love what they do here. Must go rating if in Chicago.

Chicago ballgame stopover

By kgeisen |

We read about this burger joint so we had to try it out on our way to Wrigley Field. The atmosphere was so cool! The wait staff was more than gracious and helpful explaining all the different burgers we could try. The macaroni and cheese was to die for so I suggest getting that as an app or a meal. If you're a light eater you might want to share your burger. They are probably the biggest burgers I have ever seen. This place is a must stop in Chicago!

Best burger in town? Could be...

By Brian K |

I've been here three times and each time has been top notch. The burgers are creative and everything I have had so far has been delicious. I'd put this up with Ray's Hell Burger in DC/NOVA, which is probably my favorite burger on the planet. You may have to wait to get a table, but it will be worth it.

Thrashed

By Hack W |

Do the meat like a sinner...all fires from deep within cast your fate...go pray with demons of flavor and steady tongues of unmerciful taste buds... Anthems wailing "Divulgence" surround all poor souls who are enslaved by a devil's Beer palooza ...I implore to bloody the Mary...No deadly pit has ever gladly paid more for extra Anger like this...walk softly as you approach the lively men's room...Ha Ha...Devine intervention is awaiting

Pretty Good

By William B |

Actually had Kuma's Too first. This was equally good. Slightly different feel; as this is the original it feels more grungy, dingy, metal in atmosphere. Food and beer selection great but didn't blow my mind.

Amazing burgers in a cool location

By Irene N |

Not far from Chicago downtown. Kuma's corner is an amazing rock-style place. Burgers are enormous but at the same time delicious. My favorite one is the Metallica! You might also enjoy the wide choice of tap beers. You will feel the atmosphere listening to rock music and smelling grilled burger air, while sitting and enjoy your burger with your friends. Everytime I get the chance to come to Chicago during the year, I have a stop for a dinner in this place. I love Kuma's!

Best burgers in three week holiday to the USA

By ZCC414 |

Food and beer at Kumars was brilliant. Friendly and welcoming place and the pulled pork was excellent too. Only thing for me was the heavy metal music was very heavy and probably exactly what the owners want. We only went once though despite it being the only nice place we found in walking distance of our apartment.

A heaven sent metal bar 🤘🏻

By Breanne |

Burger was delicious! This place is uber Metal ( they have a jungle rot burger special but I got the Iron Maiden in the pic)🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻so if you don’t like good burgers , great beer selection or loud heavy metal then this isn’t the place for you

Not family friendly

By Daniel M |

Zero interest from this restaurant to serve families or groups. Came in with 6 families on a Sunday afternoon after a hockey tournament, they allowed multiple parties of two to sit before even looking at our hungry young teens waiting for tables. Left for another close by place that was very willing to seat us all, thank you BEL!

Get the Calamari

By specialcoyote |

I'm annoyed to see this so high on the list of Chicago restaurant's. It is a personal favorite, and it is busy enough without tourists. Le sigh. You have to get the calamari. So delicious. Top 5 I've ever had.

Delicious vegan options - they have The Impossible Burger!

By melvinascatranch |

This was a great Heavy Metal themed restaurant that has the Impossible Burger options. The staff was very cool and helpful and the atmosphere was tons of fun! I had The Impossible Burger on a bed of arugula with garlic roasted edamame. Seriously delicious :)

Amazing burgers and music!

By Bryan C |

It was Motörhead Monday and I got the special burger. The burger was cooked perfectly and the chips are HUGE! The bathroom is super warm if you’re stopping by in the winter!

Amazing Burgers!

By Pamela M |

Read about Kuma's online as THE place to go for a great burger in Chicago. They didn't disappoint. I hadn't read about the atmosphere of the place, but it was very interesting, very heavy metal, and loved the entire theme of the restaurant. I am not a huge heavy metal fan, BUT the music was not overpowering. The service was great, the burgers were some of the best we've ever had - I had the Minotaur (with the bourbon poached pear) and my partner had the Yob (smoked gouda). I would skip the chips though and just have the fries with my burger next time, the chips were overcooked/burnt and weren't really that great. It's a little out of the way to get to, certainly not central Chicago, but if you are doing a tour of Wrigley Field it's only a short subway ride then a bus ride to check it out and have one of the best burgers you'll ever eat! They open at 11:30am and they are PACKED from the time they open.

Huge Burgers Lots O' Toppings

By Charles V |

Truly Massive burgers, these are not the thin griddled patties. Unique toppings make the burgers, which are named after metal bands, which are also on the stereo.

Best Burgers in Chicago

By Lucas S |

I've consumed many burgers in my life and these guys are way up there on the list. Being a metalhead myself it was a pleasant surprise to find such an awesome place hiding out in the burbs of the Windy City!

disappointing

By Vacation736046 |

We have been to Kumas Corner before and enjoyed the food which is great and the somewhat edgy atmosphere. This time though our server forgot to put in our order so we didn’t get our food for 30-40 minutes after we were seated. She comped us our drinks but that really didn’t make up for the annoyance, especially as we were there with our grandson. I don’t know that we’ll go back.

Wonderful Burgers

By Jeffrey S |

Wonderful rock n roll atmosphere. The burgers are huge and made fresh. The fries are hand cut too! Huge selection of beer with great service.

Harshing your mellow since 2005

By Taylor B |

A trip to Kuma's Corner is a whole different dining experience. Nothing is ordinary, just extraordinary. One highly respected food critic rated Kuma's burger as the best in Chicago. So I had to see if it is as good as advertised. Kuma's has five locations but the closest to my home is at 2900 West Belmont Avenue, at Belmont and Francisco, in the Avondale neighborhood. There also are locations in the West Loop, Vernon Hills, Schaumburg and Indianapolis, Indiana. I was delighted with a bowl of chili with shredded Monterey Jack and diced red onion a Famous Kuma Burger, a 10-ounce beef patty with fried egg, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. With hand-cut French fries. My wife opted for Caesar salad with grilled chicken, Romaine lettuce, Caesar dressing, parmesan and croutons and a Seabeast sandwich, a six-ounce marinated Atlantic salmon filet with ground Dijon mustard aioli, avocado, lettuce, tomato and frizzled onions. Yes, as good as advertised.

Delicious Burgers

By KBailey11 |

We were in town for the Ghost concert and found out that Kuma's corner had a delicious burger named after the band. If you are into metal music, it's a must do! The Vibe is very cool, great food and service.

Absolutely worth trying!!!

By Simona Ruotolo |

It was a unique experience... The sandwich was really large and well seasoned!!! And the very kind staff... Highly recommended 💖

A must when we visit Chicago!

By JAG0412 |

My boyfriend and I discovered Kuma's a few years ago when visiting Chicago and we make it there every time we come back. The staff has always been attentive and service is quick. I highly recommend the Kuma burger with homemade chips and a side of garlic mayo! Probably the best burger I've ever had. We look forward to eating there again!

Kumas rocks!!

By Criz66 |

Always, always, always make sure I stop at Kumas while in Chicago. The food is excellent, the bar staff couldn't be better and I always meet cool people there. Great jams, great food, great people....

GO FOR IT

By itcjr |

This is an awesome place. GREAT BURGERS and EQUALLY GREAT MAC & CHEESE. Love the beer selection too. I have not tried any other food there, but I am sure it is great. They have a chef that cares about what they serve. Even if your not into it, don't let the heavy metal and whiskey on tap sway you away. This is worth the trip. TIP: Get there early - always a line....

Kick-Ass Menu

By Mdub90 |

The burgers and fries are insanely tasty and it is a definite go-back-again place when we visit. Very loud inside, but that was expected. Good value, good service.

Very Good

By dherbst75 |

We came on the recommendation of coworkers who had visited the Kumas in Indianapolis. Food was very good, although the fries were a tiny bit undercooked for my liking. The portion size is enormous and prices were reasonable for a casual restaurant in Chicago.

Lunch fantastic

By tina r |

Went for lunch. We could sit inside or outside. We sat inside, wanted to hear the music. No music outside. Music was awesome would have like it a little louder tho. It is a metal bar after all :) we got there around 2:00. No wait, perfect timing. I had the high on fire burger... it was an awesome blend of heat from the sirracha sauce and sweet from the pineapple. I order my burger rare and it was perfectly cooked as well. Fries were good too and salty yay!! My hubby got the Pantera burger ordered rare perfectly cooked as well. He is giving it a 4/5 star rating. His came with potato chips which I thought was awesome. The service staff was friendly and worked together well tho a tiny bit slow. The star in this place was definitely the kitchen and food. It is definitely an adult themed restaurant/bar. I enjoyed the burger of the month board but not for children.

Business Lunch ????

By GValez |

Went with a business associate on a Tuesday around Noon. Got a table right away..which does not happen @ night or on weekends from what he told me . My friend had the Iron Maiden ,as its his go to burger and I ordered the Kuma Burger. Both where ordered cooked Medium and both where spot on. They are HUGE burgers and I had a hard time eating it all. It was good , but not the best burger Ive had Had fries as a side ..good , nothing special The atmosphere was fun , lots of Chicago City workers on lunch, as well as some Local neighborhood flavor . Loved the blasting metal , but hard to really talk any business or even just talk , so we just enjoyed the surroundings and munched. Parking a bit tough , but doable It is a tad pricey , but you will leave full . Next time I'd split a burger with someone and try a few sides . Hear the mac N Cheese is pretty good & you can customize it Don't know if I'd make it a regular rotation or destination spot , but you need to go here at least once and see it for-yourself

Best burgers of my life

By Nicklas P |

Ive traveled all over the world and this review is based on my experiences at kuma 2 and 3 years ago. The service here is great and the burgers are just the best ones you will ever eat! Being french tho i didnt like the fries since they are overcooked and to salty but that doesnt matter its just an accessory for the best burgers in the world.

Pantera and Plague Bringer get beat by Mac-n-cheese in battle to the death.

By Veronica O |

Traveling Chicago for Riot Fest from Houston; Kuma's Corner came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The burgers are creative and fabulously named. Husband got the Pantera and I got the Plague Bringer, both delicious. The star of the meal was the mac-n-cheese. Easily the best I've EVER had, we added just proisutto because we had a "small" portion and it was perfect. You can add anything you want if that's your thing. It.Was.So.Good. Will definitely eat here again when we come back.

Can't beat this place

By Calvin W |

All expectations for this place were exceeded! Atmosphere, service, food quality etc. This was literally a top 3 burger experience of a lifetime. I had the High on Fire and my wife had the YOB. Both were absolutely amazing! I was pretty bummed they were sold out of every single XL mens T-shirts, though... Get there early. By noon on a Saturday there was a fairly large group of people waiting to get in.

Simply wow!

By Michael N |

Headed out to Wrigleyville to give it a try. Definitely on the rock wild-side. A must do and do again! I went on a Wednesday for lunch. No wait. A fair number of what seemed like locals. Fast service, large draft beer choices. Burgers? Wow! Delicious, fresh made with huge choices. Hardest part is picking which one. I had one w bacon, pepper jack, a sautéed poblano topped with fresh fried tortillas. Comes on a pretzel bun that was super fresh. A great sandwich. Note - taxied out easily but needed to Uber back since I didn't see a cab. It's a pretty local neighborhood

Heavy metal and hamburgers!

By brandonspeck |

We don't go to Chicago without stopping at Kuma's. This is the original spot and has some of the best food the city has to offer. It's loud and unapologetically rock 'n' roll inside. The burgers are amazing! Get off the beaten path and try this place!

We Loved This Place!!

By Joanna_MTL |

We are both seasoned travelers. We have both been around the world multiple times. We have eaten all sorts of cuisine...and this was hands-down the BEST burger we have ever eaten in our lives. Ever! I took the Metallica burger while my boyfriend took.....something else. Both were amazing! The service was excellent. However, if you do not like metal music or loud environments, this isn't the place for you as death metal is typically playing quite loudly. But as we are both on the edgier side, we absolutely loved it! I cannot recommend the food here enough. Definitely a must-check-out if you are visiting Chicago!

Best. Burger. Ever.

By Yakuzaprincess78 |

My husband took me here for lunch. I had heard wonderful things about Kumas, but had never been. I had no idea what I was missing. We sat outside in the patio area, and all of the tables had an umbrellas, which was awesome because when we arrived it was cloudy, but soon after the sun was blazing. Our server was very attentive, and super nice. As a matter of fact everyone in there was very nice, and they all seemed to help each other. It took a bit for the food to arrive, but I had a bloody Mary while I waited, and it was delish. The food was worth waiting for. The burger was perfectly cooked, and suuuuper juicy. I got a Metallica burger. It had so much flavor packed into one burger, and it was a nice size. I couldn't have been happier, and the fries just as flavorful. I definitely would recommend Kumas if you are looking for a really well made burger. We also saw the servers bring out a few orders of Mac and cheese, that had an array of toppings to choose from. It looked fabulous! If you're looking for fantastic food, wonderful service, and a nice relaxed atmosphere, definitely give it a try!

Chicago lunch

By Stephanie H |

Burgers & sides were great. Staff was very polite & attentive. We didn't know before hand that they didn't actually serve soda- only organic, gauva type bottle soda- the grape was pretty good, but slightly expensive. Even though it's described as a heavy metal theme restaurant, children were having lunch with their parents.

Music, beer, great food

By Happy Explorer |

Love, love Kuma's Corner. Fun, knowledgeable staff. They know their beers. Atmosphere fun , loud and comfortable. Burgers beyond amazing. I picked the Kuma burger, bacon, fried egg on top all served on a pretzel roll. Score! Nice outside seating, if the noise inside is too much. (which it was not). Hostess, bartender and waitstaff were great. We will be back for the atmosphere, but mainly so we can try every burger on the menu, oh and the mac and cheese.

Outstanding!

By Cardinals99 |

Went here with a couple of friends and we were very impressed. If you are a burger lover this place is a must! They have a huge selection of exotic burgers and a great beer selection. Cool atmosphere as well with an outdoor patio area. The fries are also ridiculously good. I recommend the jalapeño poppers and pulled pork fries as apps.

Perfection-Almost

By BatGuano30 |

Great burger, great look, awesome servers. Only complaint, music was TOO LOW while I was there, but "Natural Born Killers" was on the big screen and that made up. This is a metal bar - CRANK IT!!!!

Great food and service

By Arlene |

Do you like great burgers cooked the way you want? Lots of fries or homemade chips? Great drinks and deep fried pickle slices? AND rock music….this is the place! We think it’s the best burger in Chicago! And that’s saying a lot!! And we had a fantastic server too!

Hamburgers were good, bathroom was filthy with no soap

By Barbara0414 |

When I got there I used the bathroom and it’s was dirty there was no soap and we were there at peak time 6 for dinner. The hamburgers were good and the macaroni and cheese was great, but when the bathroom has NO soap I have a problem. If the bathrooms have no soap that means the waitresses and kitchen staff aren’t washing their hands. On that note my friend had an allergic reaction and was taken to the hospital by ambulance before we finished the meal. Not sure it was due to cross contamination or not. She has allergies and asked if this could have been an issue and was told NO. I hear the place is wonderful we just came on a bad day for cleanliness.

Fabulous!!!!!

By Jori W |

Just like what almost every other person has said, these burgers were to die for!!!! And the mac and cheese....OMG!!!!!!

I love this place

By mikseebs |

This is a fun spot. Whiskey on tap, great beer choices, metal music (which is surprisingly tolerable) and great food. The burgers are very unique, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. And the Mac n Cheese is so great. You won't be disappointed in the spot.

Not a "chill" atmosphere for a metal bar/restaurant

By yomomma |

This place has a lot of rules! Mostly in regard to seating on a slow afternoon. I admit that our party of 4 kept growing but still. I guess they do quite a good business so customer service from the front area doesn't matter. In any event, the burgers were great, as expected. I just wouldn't try this place with a group larger then 4. Music was perfect and just the right volume.

Burgers, Beards, Broads, Beers

By Zacgmaggiety |

You don't have to do it in this order, but any which way they are all good at Kumas!! Don't forget the music for all you Metal heads. Went to Kumas on a trip to Chicago. Too many beers to try and everything looked and tasted good. Get a reservation, because it's not large and they won't seat you until the whole party is there. So eat, drink, and rock on at Kumas!!

Best burger

By Runawayblond |

Kumas has the best burger and fries I have had, if you're in Chicago a visit to Kumas is a staple. Loud punk music and great beers

I could not spend those 14$ in anything better!

By mar1anavs |

These is, for sure, the best burger I have ever tried. Probably there is a lot of people with much more burger fever than myself and those who have visited 1000 burger places in the search of the best one. From my humble point of view (and my burger-passionate husband) the burgers at Kuma's are AMAZING! The place itself is more like a bar, a bit of rock music and some space to sit outdoors when weather allows. It is a place where you go for fantastic food and a beer. It is not for romantic occasions or a cozy place. Is much more informal than that (which worked for me, since the purpose was purely the burger-hunt. Portions are quite big, so it is even good idea to share if you are not super hungry (I guess it is what they call "american size" :) ). For the record, my choice that day was the "YOB" burger. I really wish I can learn to prepare such meat at home! Too bad that we went to this place on our last day before leaving Chicago, otherwise I would have gone back to try a new one! Congratulations to the restaurant and those who are reading, no need to look for more alternatives for burgers. You can just grab your wallet and go! :)

Great Burgers and Metal Atmosphere!

By countingsheep08 |

Popped in there for the Ghost Burger and it was awesome. The place is small, but they have an outdoor patio as well. Great staff, great food. Lots of different burgers and they have vegan options as well.

Gourmet Burgers

By Dan L |

Kumas corner has the appearance of a grunge bar and not having a tatoo put me in the minority. That being said the yob this is one of the best burgers I have ever had! Go get a burger but don't dress up.

Best burger ever

By Runawayblond |

Really cool atmosphere, great selection of beer and honestly the best hamburgers I have tasted, usually has a bit of a wait but it's definitely worth it.

Wonderful food, beer selection, & atmosphere

By Melody W |

This was our first time here, the food was outstanding! Highly recommend the mac & cheese with bacon....yum!!! Not the most kid friendly place, no kids menu, but we made due with our munchkin. Portions are huge, may be easier to share if not too hungry. Local brew collection is fantastic, too!!

Surprisingly disappointed

By memochicago |

I went with my wife to Kuma's expecting to have a wonderful experience. We thought the hamburgers would be great. I have been postponing to go for one or another reason... even if I live few blocks from the restaurant. The ambiance was great and the music fantastic... I love rock, metal, punk etc... The beers were very good. The burgers in the other hand.... mmmmmhhh not really. We ordered the Mac and cheese which was wonderful. I ordered the kuma's especial burger, bison. My wife ordered another burger. The burgers were really nothing out of this world.... not much flavor.... not what we expected......at all. Maybe we were expecting to much To make matter worse the price, I think, was a little to much. We knew the bison meat would be more expensive... $4. We knew that adding avocado would cost more, $2. But to charge $2 for grilled onions... the burger comes with raw onions.... seemed a little bit abusive... The total bill was over $80 Which maybe not a lot... but I think that there are many other places just by Milwaukee Ave.... between kedzie and diversely avenue... that have better burgers and similar beers. Now....full disclosure.... as in any of my TripAdvisor or yelp reviews I have been working in a hotel, Westin, for many years..... I know how a great burger should taste! And I'm sorry to review that Kuma's wasn't Just as good as I thought would be.

Kuma’s Corner is awesome!!! 🍔🍻

By Dude Man |

Kuma’s Corner is awesome!!! Best Mac and Cheese in Chicago 4 sure!!! This is 1 of the best burger spots in the city by far!! My favorites burgers here are the Famous Kuma Burger with Bacon, cheddar, fried egg, lettuce onion and tomato and the Iron Maiden Burger with Chipotle mayo, cherry peppers, pepperjack, avocado, lettuce, tomato and onion. My favorite salad is the Wedge which is Iceberg Lettuce, Bleu Cheese Dressing, Cholula Lemon Vinaigrette, Diced Bacon, Cherry Tomato, Cayenne Croutons, and Frizzled Onions. Overall though the best thing here is the Mac and Cheese where you Choose up to two free ingredients. I always get it with Bacon and Roasted Red Peppers or jalapeños. It is amazing!!! The beer selection is really good at Kuma’s!! They always have 3 Floyd’s on tap which I love!!!

A bit disappointing

By Andrew Y |

This is a review for their west loop location. It wasn't as good as when I visited the Belmont location 5 years back. The burgers was overcooked (I ordered the neurosis and my wife ordered the one with brie cheese and added an egg). Mine had a sufficient amount of mushrooms which I really liked but the burger was just falling a part. Wasn't a huge fan of the pretzel bun which was semi-hard. The fries were not crispy. Overall, I was not impressed and would've rather tried au chavel down the street. Also the service was decent, only after waiting 15 minutes and asking the host where our server was.

Decent burgers

By ChicagoNewbie |

Finally was able to go to Kuma's, and really enjoyed the burgers and edamame. Only thing is, one of us ordered the burger medium rare, and it was served very rare. Maybe not always a big deal, but we were all hungry and had a limited time to be there. I wound up splitting my burger so all of us could eat and finish at the same time. The other 3 burgers were served as ordered. Cool place otherwise.

So Disappointed

By TravelingTre |

After years of hearing about Kuma's corner, I finally got a chance to go to the one in the west loop. I had such great expectations and was so disappointed. I had heard and read about how great the burger was. I was truly disappointed. Too much bread, too little flavor. Not to mention that I had to try to eat it while a gruesome slasher movie was playing on the screens around me. This was just not a great experience. I am happy that I now have it off of my list of places to try, but we won't be going back.

Great hamburger

By senge11 |

This place knows how to make a great hamburger. It's not necessarily kid friendly because of the music they play and the surrounding environment. That being said, it is a solid food experience and I would go there again for a different burger.

What a marvelous place!

By Kristjaneinarsson |

Hard rock and the best burgers what more can you ask? But be ready to wait for 1-2 hours. But the burgers are worth it!

Love the Yob

By Jen S |

These burgers do not disappoint. I personally prefer the homemade chips over fries. I've ordered delivery a few times and they travel well.

Eat here

By Mike |

I got the pulled pork and it was delicious. I recommend the chips over the fries. My sister got a burger and it was amazing! I'll definitely come back. The portions were more than enough for the price of the food. Lots of drink selections as well.

Hearty Portions and metal music

By Courtney M |

We went for a family dinner. The atmosphere is alternative so be ware if you are going out with conservative people. The burger menu is extensive and offers something for everyone. They do offer vegan and gluten free options. The servings were HUGE and only 1/5 of our party finished his meal. Chips and fries are both tasty. Certainly worth stopping in for a drink and burger.

Quality is dropping

By graffka |

A couple weeks ago my son asked for Kuma's, so we ordered via UE and I couldn't be more disappointed (and this is all on the kitchen, not the UE driver). Everything was horrible. Both hamburgers were cooked to well done (instead of M & MR). There were no fries with one of the burgers. The side of bbq pork french fries was ice cold. I had prior success on delivery a couple times, so I called and they said they'd process a refund...focus on said. You may just want to go there in case this represents a drop in consistency out of the kitchen.

One of the Best Burgers in Burger Town!

By kenarv |

Sometimes when you crave beef its not of the Steak variety, but a juicy, perfectly cooked BURGER. KUMA's CORNER succeeds in a city where beef is King! Wrapped in a perfect bun with whatever extra you put on it, this place Rocks! As in METAL Headbanging music. Just a killer awesome Vibe with cool customers and cooler bartenders and waitstaff -you don't even notice the ink and piercings on them cause they are so damn Chicago Nice! Lots'OBeers to choose from and a Whskey Tap which of course I had to use. Wifey had the Led Zeppelin (bacon & pulled pork) and I opted for Iron Maiden (Chili). Check out their website and go to the original @ W Belmont.

Great food and atmosphere

By Megan B |

My boyfriends burger was outstanding, mine on the other hand was all pink on the inside. It looked rare, when I ordered medium. They were very accommodating and made me a whole new burger within 5-10 minutes. Food great when cooked right!! We got the fried pickles (best we've ever had)!!

No go!

By Bella S |

We stopped on our way from the city due to the proximity to the highway and high ranking on Trip Advisor. I would NOT recommend this place. The food was fairly good but the music was very angry and so loud we couldn’t talk and we certainly couldn’t enjoy our food. Never again!

as good as it is loud

By Byron C |

I was sad it was raining when we got to Kuma;s Corner today, because I prefer sitting outside. They really crank up the heavy metal indoors, so conversation can be a little tough in the main room. We were laughing about what it would be like to go on a first date there. It would probably involve more shouting that an ideal first date. But the burgers are thick and very very tasty, and if you like an actual rare burger, Kuma's is one of the few places around that will prepare one for you. The mac & cheese is also amazing, so the best idea to split a burger and a mac with a friend, thus getting the best of both options. We always try to hit the place for lunch when in Chicago. And while the lines can be horrible (although they're shorter than the ones people braved at their former neighbor, Hot Doug's), we always shoot to get their soon after they open (11:15). This means we're able to get a table and prompt service. But Kuma's is -- first and foremost -- a METAL bar, so if you don't like it loud, you might wanna get your food to-go.

My Valhalla

By Mark J |

When I die, this is what I hope my heaven will be like. I first took my nephew here 8 years ago and I have since introduced many friends and relatives to experience the ambiance and food of this Chicago gem. Burgers, Beards, Broads, Beers and metal music. The joint doesn't serve Miller Lite, Coors Lite or any beer that resembles water. What you will get is a very fine selection of craft and small brewery beers and whiskeys. The burgers are sublime and cooked just as you order them. Go with friends get a couple and share. You will not be disappointed.

Can't be beat

By Robert M |

So many choices of burgers, sure you might wait 20-30-40 minutes but have a beer in the meantime! It's worth it trust me, burgers with full meat flavor very little slices of anything beyond salt and pepper are used, it's the toppings that make the burgers have different flavors. The plus? They are named after rock bands and are all different, something for everyone. This is easily the best burger in Chicago, Iron Maiden and Metallica are recommended by me.

Burgers, music, and local flair

By mrswhit11 |

Stopped in for lunch based on a TV show rating the best burgers in America. Was not disappointed. The burger menu is extensive, although some of them got a little weird. I had trouble finding a regular cheeseburger that wasn't topped with jalapenos, a fried egg, or something else. Not a bad thing. The menu is definitely for the adventurous. I had a fried chicken sandwich that was fantastic. The homemade chips and french fries are both outstanding; I will have trouble deciding which I will order next time. Kids are allowed before 10 p.m. But, it's loud. The music is hard rock and I can see that being scary for some little ones. The large screen TV had Fight Club playing while we were there. Not exactly a children's movie. I'd leave the little ones at home for this bar. My dad and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The beer selection is awesome and the beer menu has lots of information to help you decide which one you want to choose to wash your tasty burger down with. Our bartender knew her stuff too. She was busy but was great at checking in with us several times during our visit.

Cool place!

By rirhoden |

This place is really neat, the place itself is just cool. I was very impressed with the beer selection, the Mac and cheese was really good. Lots of different burgers to choose from, I had the Mastadon, it was really good. Not the best burger I've ever had, but definitely top 5.

Best Burgers in town

By Dale W |

So I was introduced to Kuma's by a friend. If you visit the original store at 2900 W Belmont Ave it can be very off putting. It is very small and it looks like a goth/heavymetal/biker bar. The reality is it is everything. This place has the absolute best burgers you will ever eat. The meat is cooked how you want and is always fresh. No overcooked beef here. The fries are hand cut and fresh. They play rock metal music/videos and you will see guys in suits sitting next to punk rockers and bikers and everyone is there for the same reason. The best burgers in town. They have another location that is much newer and it more family orientated but I only tried it once. The original gets all my business even if I have to wait for a seat. Can't say enough about how good the burgers are. I make a LOT of trips to Chicago and this is ALWAYS where I get my first meal.

Tasty and Rocky

By Dansgonefishing |

My wife and I were in the mood for a great burger so Kuma's Corner was our pick. This is not your average burger joint. A word of warning, do not expect to carry on a casual conversation while eating here. Heavy metal is blaring from beginning to end. Thankfully the outdoor seating in the back was very relaxed a quiter. The service was outstanding and the burger was one of the best I have had. Ten ounces of delicious beef topped with top quality bacon and a tasty egg. For two of us, each ordering a burger, a Three Floyds IPA and a glass of wine the tab was $47.00 without tip.

Burgers, beer & heavy metal!

By VamosChicos |

Best place we found in Avondale. Great selection of beers on tap, including the wonderful local Revolution brews. Also a great choice of fresh hamburgers - very good, although our French fries & chips weren't freshly made. Staff all very goth, very friendly & helpful. Especially good if you're into heavy metal - and loud heavy metal! I tell you, it was so loud, we nearly didn't hear the woman next to us at the bar screaming at her poor hubby!

Best Burgers in Town and Mac and Cheese Rocks Too

By Rick C |

If you love great burgers, beer and rock n roll in a bar setting, this is your place in Chicago. We were a party of 4 that enjoyed beers at the bar before our table became available. Yeah the wait is long but that is why God invented rock n roll music and beer. Enjoy both and soon your table will be ready. My wife and I split a YOB Burger which was very good. The others in our party had the Led Zep and the Plague Bringer which were both described in glowing terms. I also had some mac and cheese which was a great compliment to the YOB. So, keep this spot in mind if you want to enjoy the best burgers in the big city some people call Chicago.

Not a Family Style Burger Joint

By Ryan L |

Many of the low-rated reviews here are posted by out of towners who don't realize this is primarily a BAR (in the busy city of Chicago, mind you) that also serves burgers. If you want the restaurant experience with a toned down bar atmosphere, try the close-by Kuma's Too or the one they just opened in Schaumburg. My wife and came here on a Saturday around 3 and were facing a 1-2 hour wait so we strategically positioned ourselves by the bar and snagged seats within 15 mins. Of all the burgers in the city, this place is definitely in the top 5. The patties are huge, always cooked to order, and topped with quality ingredients. The beer and drinks are legit which help make this a great place to also meet a buddy or two after work.

If you are in Chicago you have to stop here!

By DASnitker |

Went to Kuma's Corner while in Chicago on a business trip and the burgers did not disappoint! First of all, they are HUGE burgers, super tasty and piled high with toppings. Even the ketchup is homemade and absolutely delicious! My husband was so excited or the heavy metal theme and that was also really well done. We can not wait until the next time we are in Chicago to make another trip!!

New for me

By CarnivoreGunter_TX |

A waiter at Smith & Wollensky told me about this place. Great sides and all sorts of hamburgers. Lots of beers to pick from and some interesting people watching.

Fun atmosphere, great menu, best gourmet burgers.

By TinkaS16 |

If you are in Chicago and in search of a great gourmet burger, this is the place for you. We enjoyed a beautiful late summer afternoon outside at this cool place. We had an amazing server and the atmosphere was top notch. The menu is a burger lovers dream. With cool names like the Slayer, Metallica amd Pantera you know you are in for something special. It was hard to choose but I went with the Lair of the Minatour. A fantastic burger with caramelized onion, pancetta, brie and bourbon poached pear. They also have an excellent selection of rotating craft beers. We will definitely be back to enjoy this place again!

Inventive burgers

By deeyounee |

Pretty good burger spot, lots of different inventive burger selections make this a great place to try something new. Service was good pricing was also quite good.

Great food and service! (If you want suggestions on what to order, you should read this)

By Greg C |

I was a little unsure of this place at first. It's very nice and clean, and the burgers are all named after metal bands. That being said... if you see it TRY IT!?!! The burgers were so good! I suggest the one with tortilla chips on it as my first choice. And the chicken and waffles burger as my second! (Ask for the chicken and waffles with an egg on top. It's to die for!) The vinaigrette paired with the syrup is delectable. I also really enjoyed our service. Items were not being pushed on us that we didnt want and our waters were always full. They had a great drink menu, but we were saving room for the food. Also! Try the Mac N Cheese. You wont regret it. You'll only regret not trying it when you see someone else order it. It's a great size to split as an appetizer. -Greg SLC,UT

Awesome Atmosphere & Incredible Burgers

By Nicole M |

I absolutely loved the atmosphere at Kuma’s. Great music playing, pleasant decor, and a fantastic menu. I chose the Neurosis burger. It may have been the best burger I’ve ever had. The service was great, and although it wasn’t in the menu they made a fantastic margarita for me. Prices were decent - all around 5 star rating!!

NOT the best burger!

By szayak |

For days we were looking forward to our Chicago trip and trying this amazing burger place that we had heard about having the best burgers. Drove 30 mins out of our way to try these award winning burgers. We left wondering what burgers they were comparing this place to because these were far from the best....far. They lack flavor. Step your game up Kuma's!!!

kumas

By LilyWanderingGypsy |

easily the best burgers we’ve ever had. goatsnake burger was unlike anything ive ever eaten. will definitely be making this a staple on chicago trips

Had to try them.

By Malstyles |

So for a few years I have herd about this burger joint, everyone has given this place rave reviews. I have to say the food was good, the burger was big and flavorful and the toppings was on point. We sat in the back in the outside patio and enjoyed the weather while Sipping on a craft beer and a Makers Mark drink which they have on tap. Yes they have Makers Mark on tap, the inside is not super large but nice along with the outside patio increases the room. You have to check out the burger list it is crazy and I think they have turkey burgers also. I have to say I don't know what I was expecting but I was still happy with the outcome, I wish they actually made their burgers from scratch, that would be my only swaying factor on " is this the best burger in Chicago ? ". All and all check this place out the pricing is moderate and the beer selection is good you will not be disappointed, the fried pickles were the bomb.

Heavy Metal Band named after their burgers and their one of a kind Mac and Cheese

By Art J |

Despite that I had heard of their restaurant known for their burgers named after Heavy Metal bands AKA Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden. I decided to give this place a try out of opportunity. Ironically I did NOT try the famous heavy metal band burgers BUT I did Noticed on other reviews I tried there famous Macaroni and cheese. I would have tried the burgers but I wanted to try their Mac and cheese which was a meal itself. Their Mac in cheese was very delicious!!! It is no Kraft product in a box!!! They added extra ingredients that is fresh and healthy like green peas, Chicken breast, Mushrooms, Andalusian sausage and many more . It was about $14 regular with 2 ingredients to add but anything over is $2 per extra. My waitress Sparkles recommend it and was very happy! I will be coming back for their metal burgers. Reason only 4 Out of 5 is because their alcoholic mix drink selection is limited and wanted the monster with gingerale syrup but didn't have it. Also no dessert menu. All in all worth going here in the original location. I will also try the Schaumburg location too.

Great burgers and atmosphere

By Tsample7 |

Great food, service, and vibes. Loved the variety of the menu. Great atmosphere for a drink and burger. Servers were friendly and engaging. We will definitely return again soon.

Outstanding!

By Craig J |

Finally made it to Kuma's Corner to try a burger - was the best burger I can remember, period! Kuma's is known as a 'heavy metal bar,' and it definitely is. But it's not just a heavy metal crowd, so you know lots of people are there for the food. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the food and service is excellent. The beer selection is very high quality, about a dozen on draught, and probably fifty in bottles. Not just burgers and beer, there were other entrees (we saw a mac & cheese go by that looked great) and they have wine and a full bar. I did not realize Kuma's believes in 'community support' as they do, another reason to support Kuma's. It was well worth the 60 mile drive for us, you can't usually say that about burgers & beer.

Very unique burger bar!!

By joe |

The place was super busy but the service was great! Loud kind of heavy metal bar with great burgers. We had a variety and tasted each other's. All were excellent. Unusual place. Not everyone's cup of tea but for a good burger it was well worth it.

GREAT 👍 Worth the Wait.

By Sharon W |

We went on a Saturday afternoon around 4;30pm. There was 7 of us. We had to wait for about 35 minutes but it was worth the wait. The Mac & Cheese is a must try. We all shared one order and there was plenty.

Kuma's Corener Original Burger was outstanding!!

By real_golfer5 |

This place was recommended by a local and he mentioned the heavy metal rock music and the smoky kitchen from all the burgers that are cooked. I had the Original Kuma's Corner Burger and it was cooked to perfection with a fried egg at the top of the burger. It was truly a great burger and ambiance.

Burgers too big for one!!!!

By Janet O |

A recent visit for takeout at Kuma's Corner found the burgers thick and juicy! I ordered the Minotaur with caramelized onion, pancetta, brie and bourbon poached pear. Wow! it was delicious as was the other burgers ordered by the rest of the party. Ample portions and interesting choices. Worth a trip there!

Don't forget the mac and cheese!

By SherriandBrandon |

Not only are the burgers amazing, but the mac and cheese is incredible. We had the mac and cheese of the month which contained smoked bratwurst, mustard, and cheese curds. We got there at around 2 on a Friday afternoon and were seated immediately. It would have been worth a wait. All of the food is very high quality and the service was very good.

This is a must

By Oliver M |

I saw this place on Food Network channel. I had the Kuma's burger. I had a revolution Oktoberfest.. the fries were really good. The burger, I was expecting more, but I'd love to try the other ones. They look good.

Awesome dinner as always!

By Meredith |

I ate at Kuma's last night with my brother and brother-in-law before the Marilyn Manson concert at the Riv. We've eaten at Kuma's before, and it has always been delicious, and this was no exception! I had the Pantera burger (never tried before, and I'm so glad I did!) which was done perfectly. All of our meals and beers were awesome, and I'm sure we'll be back again!

We'll come back!

By jenilynevette |

We visited here this past Saturday - a family member had given us a gift card to visit this place after seeing in on a TV show. My husband LOVED the idea, and it was just up his alley - I was just along for the ride. There isn't much parking around the area, we just waited for a spot to open up - be careful if you are parking as many of the "lots" around are tow areas! This restaurant is a little hole-in-the-wall kind of joint, and it was packed to the gills on the Saturday we went in. If you aren't comfortable with being super close to those around you [including strangers], this isn't the place for you. There was a 45 minute wait for a table, which is fine, we just stood against the wall and talked until our table was ready. The wait wasn't a problem, but there were a dozen or so other people waiting as well, all packed into one little area like a can of sardines. Some of them smelled like beef, others barf, and a few like weed. It was quite the sensory experience. I was a little nauseous by the time we got a table. The tables are super cramped, with very little room to walk between them. We ordered, ate and got out at as far as could to open up our table. The staff was friendly, and the food was hot! It was also delicious. It was pretty loud, but after awhile we got used to it and were able to talk over it. I ordered the buffalo chicken, and my husband ordered the Led Zeppelin. Both were delicious. We will be back in the future [to finish using our gift card], but I'm not sure if we will be back after that. Maybe it'll grow on us, maybe it won't. But it's definitely worth trying at least once!

Downhill

By Tricia |

Several years ago this burger joint was amazing. During two recent trips to this establishment we’ve been disappointed on both occasions. Burgers were bland and lacking any flavor. Toppings that used to pop no longer have that same superb quality they once did. Overpriced.

Amazing

By Kit V |

Loved this place. Will return at every visit to Chicago. Delicious food without the high prices or stuffiness.

Best burger

By Funker1 |

Our first stop in Chicago became Kumas Corner just because we heard about their burgers. And they didnt dissapoint us! Amazing all way through and big portions. The place is a bit loud but we knew that before we went there. Also good and fast service.

I was told these were the Best Burgers in the World

By Matt F |

After such a strong recommendation, I had to give it a try. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with BBQ sauce on it and fries. The burger came on a pretzel bun, and it was made to order. It was delicious! I don't know if I would call it the best in the world, but I would call it outstanding! The place is cozy and the music is loud. Really loud. Hope you like metal music... Overall, I'd go back again without hesitation and enjoy the same experience again and again!

Best burger in chiacgo

By schernov |

Best burger in Chicago. Excellent beer and whisky on tap. You can sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table.

Pretzel Bun Burger Bliss!!!

By Teresa R |

One of the BEST burgers in town! We stopped in for lunch on a recommendation from my boyfriend's brother (both Chicago natives)... WOW! Not only are there more than a dozen unique burger choices (named after legendary rock & heavy metal bands) they're all served on a pretzel bun! (My favorite is the Led Zeppelin burger with pulled pork on it! )The fries are delicious too! Expect a little bit of wait if you come during peak times, as they are very popular. (We waited less than 20 I think). They also have a great selection of beers to wash down your delicious meal. If you're a burger aficionados or just want a really good meal in a fun atmosphere, definitely plan a visit here!

Home of the original "Famous Kuma" and other creative sandwiches

By Taylor B |

Have you tried the "Famous Kuma" or the Slayer or Metallica or Deicide or Pig Destroyer? Welcome to Kuma's Corner, a lively pub known for its long list of creative burgers and its rock 'n roll soundtrack. Located at 2900 West Belmont Avenue, at the corner of Belmont and Francisco, in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood, it is an iconic metal-themed restaurant and bar that features some of the most popular burgers in the city and such musicians as Russian Circles, Suncrusher, Deicide, Green Druid, Pantheon, Bongzilla and Havok. The music aside--I prefer Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett and Mantovani--my wife and I came for the much celebrated burgers. Start with the chili with shredded Monterey Jack cheese and diced red onion. The original "Famous Kuma" launched the restaurant's reputation. It features a farm fresh fried egg, which started a trend after it was introduced in 2005, Applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion. Recently, it has been surpassed by the Slayer, a pile of fries topped with a 1/2-pound burger, chili, cherry peppers, scallions, andouille sausage, caramelized onions and Monterey Jack cheese on a pretzel bun. Other popular items are Metallica with Applewood smoked bacon, Buffalo sauce, blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato and red onion, Pig Destroyer with slow cooked pulled pork, BBQ sauce, frizzled onions and pickles and The Burger of the Month, Deicide, a 10-ounce Kuma's patty with dijon, bacon gorgonzola patty, mushrooms and onion.

Woooo!

By cassandraxoxo |

Awesome! Great food! Service has never disappointed ! Real nice workers. Cool atmosphere . I've been here several times . Great beer selection too! Outdoor seating in the summer. Parking is crappy but welcome to Chicago ! Sometimes because the place is soooo small... The wait is long and it gets really really really smoky and you reek like fried food and burgers when you leave. Could be a bad thing if you are sensitive to that sort of thing . Overall I love the Yob burger the best !

Delicious food, interesting atmosphere.

By Carlos G |

I had probably the best burger I have ever had at Kuma's Corner (definitely top 2) and I have had a lot of burgers. I ordered the special "Burger of the Month" - the Carcass [10 oz beef patty, bacon fat aioli, shredded steak, muenster cheese, deep-fried beer battered bacon, drizzled with sweet srirachi glaze]. It was definitely a heavy burger - I only finished half at dinner time, along with the awesome fries and a couple of beers, but man was it delicious. Their beer selection was really good as well. The atmosphere is different, unless you regularly listen to death/heavy metal and watch horror movies. I did not see any kids - mostly 20-30 somethings. The staff was very friendly and provided great service.

Could Not Be Better

By pghgrl_ny |

Dive bar? Check. Loud heavy metal? Check. Tattooed, solicitous staff? Check. Ridiculously good burgers? Check. Excellent Manhattans, too, if you're not a beer person. Like idiots, in addition to burgers we ordered appetizers (which we could not finish), but oh man oh man, the buffalo chicken tenders are to die for. The fried pickles aren't bad, either. Grab a cab, haul out to Kuma's, and give thanks you did. Come hungry!

upon our arrival which there was 7 of us which included 2 10 year olds, we were told we could sit in the patio area but had to sit on opposite corners, ummm we are a family I don't want to do that. Then was told they don't accommodate that many people inside yet our tables were side by side, not sure why they couldn't push them together. Felt from the beginning they were trying to get rid of us since we had kids, or didn't look the part of the environment (all tatted up). The music didn't bother my kids or any of us. When the guy seated us and we had to walk all the way through the place the whole entire staff behind the bar and in the kitchen stared at us like we had the plague, literally the whole entire time to our seats, as we were seated and even after we were the butt of all the staff jokes I believe. they all need to learn manners and better way to treat paying customers who paid well over 100.00 for our meal all together. Food was fantastic and music was great. other than that this establishment needs to state on their website they are not a family place to eat. adults only.

Best Burger in Chicago

By Katlyn D |

Overall I've been to Kumas 6 times now. Why? Because it's addicting. Great environment, the staff seem to love their job and a open kitchen where you watch the guys sling burgers. It's great. The burgers are huge and I always share but the tastes are spot on. The only awkward part is trying to wait in the cramped little opening of the restaurant for a table. Well worth it!

The best burger you can have in Chicago!

By Dani_Gonzalezh |

Me and my friends went there to grab a bite before doing the Revolution's brewery tour. We heard that the placed served good burgers and me as a burger fan could not resist to try them. The truth is they served me the best burger I have ever tasted. The meat was soft and juicy, right on its point, on top of that it was cheap :) Don't miss it if you are in chicago, you won't regret. The zone is a little bit boring, not much to do over there, so if you like beer take the chance to make the brewery tour so you don't spend taking such a long trip for only a burger.

High on Fire

By Craig T |

Just had the High on Fire burger, which has pineapple, chili paste, red peppers, and sriracha sauce. All of which are ingredients that shouldn't go on a burger. And it was one of the most perfect hamburgers ever. Great bartenders, as usual. Never let your drink go empty.

Best Burger in Chicago

By Taylor B |

When you are alerted to the fact that a restaurant is singled out for having the "best burger" or "best hot dog" or "best Italian beef" or "best thin crust pizza" or "best chili" or "best fried chicken" in town...well, you just have to see for yourself. Is the item as good as advertised? Do you add your own stamp of approval? Does Kuma's Corner produce the best burger in Chicago? Located at 2900 West Belmont Avenue, at the corner of Belmont and Francisco, west of Elston, in the Avondale neighborhood, it is a pub that was founded in 2005 and is known for creative burgers and its rock 'n roll sound track. Open from 11 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 11 to midnight on Friday and Saturday, Kuma's also makes a good case for the best lunch in town. It's hard to improve on the Famous Kuma, a one-of-a-kind tasty burger with applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, farm fresh fried egg, lettuce, tomato and red onion with a bowl of chili with shredded Monterey Jack cheese and diced red onion. Kuma's also has locations in Schaumburg, 852 West Fulton Market in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood and, of all places, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Worth the Wait

By Elaine S |

My brother was craving a good burger for his birthday, so after endless rave reviews we blindly went to Kumas. The wait was about 45 minutes with little space to actually wait, but once we sat down we were content. The menu was easy to read, the wait staff was attentive, and must 2 important. ...the burger i had was A M A Z I N G! My only issue and it's a big one, was the lack of ventilation. It seemed as if the hoods were not functioning properly. People were rubbing their eyes because of dried out contacts-me being one of them. I would definitely go back, but only if i wear my glasses

Outstanding!

So my daughter who lives near Humboldt Park suggested we go here when my wife and I recently visited her in Chicago. She told us they had good burgers and tons of beer choices but there'd be a wait. We arrived around 525pm this past Saturday and sure enough there was an hour wait for our party of 4. The place is basically a corner bar turned into a restaurant. So there wasn't much room to wait around and the bar seats are used by diners who don't want to wait for a table (usually 1 or 2 diners). We got seated in an hour and although it seemed like the service was slow - we were in and out in an hour. The burgers are huge - 10 ounces. In fact we and most people could only eat half and took the other half home. There's a ton of variety and they absolutely cook them exactly as they describe in their menu. The draft beers are pricey and small but I'm guessing that might just be normal for a Chicago pub. We really enjoyed the place. The food was good, the beer was cold and the crowd was noisy. What's not to love! I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. But....be prepared for a wait.

Great Burgers but bring earplugs

By Tim |

Its not really the volume of the music but rather the noise itself. I didn"t say music intentionally because its screaming screeching and bad guitar playing. Just not musical at all but the review is about the food so here goes.....The burgers are delicious with awesome plentiful toppings. Perfectly cooked. French Fries were a little wet/oily when served. Good news they were hot and fresh but bad news a little greasy. Still fresh cut and excellent. Very creative combinations.Service is slow for the food to come but the waitress was attentive.Just meant we had to listen to the noise longer. You shouldn't walk out of a restaurant and feel relieved of anything but here its not having to listen to the bad music.

Good food

By S. T |

My 1st visit here and I enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is very, very, very casual and if you don't like rock music this is not the place for you. It was a bad Monday for the establishment with the POS not working properly which, prevented us from ordering any of their beers or other beverages which included alcohol. AND the ventilation system did nit seem to be workinv properly and smoking out all of the diners. There was a moment when the front door was being held open (might I remind you this is January in Chicago) to help remove some of the fumes which made for an uncomfortable dining experience. Prior to leaving they found a way to sell alcohol and the restaurant filled up quickly. Overall, I will return and try a different burger. I can tell that this is a great place for a burger, minus the music (too loud but I guess that's the only way to listen to Rock).

Great burgers, but the place is far away

By genoma viajero |

The food is really good in this very rocker place which is not close to City Center. The problem is that the bus doesnt go that far and theres no metro stations in the area . So, if you want to enjoy this, you have to take a cab or an Uber.

Seriously Best Veggie Burger Ever

By terry5552016 |

Best vegetarian burger ever! I'm not a vegetarian by choice. I'm allergic to meat proteins and unfortunately always disappointed with veggie burgers. This was my first incredible veggie burger. If I wasn't so far away, I'd be a regular customer! The rest of the party all loved their meal choices (baked macaroni + different varieties of burgers) . Great music, very friendly and prompt service.

The burgers here are to die for!

By nelybea29 |

I have never had a burger that was so exotic and Delicious! Kuma's corner brings to the table burgers made to perfection with the accompanying ingredients and sauces. Not to mention the beer selection is great!!

A Burger Destination: Come hungry and leave licking your fingers!

By Travel Ameniti |

This burger place has become a burger destination. The place is small but the burgers are big and juicy. Everything I tasted was delicious. The service is pretty friendly. The music and the decor take you back to a time when Metal was queen. It is worth the trip. Come hungry and leave licking your fingers!

One of my Top 10 Burgers...

By Luvzog |

I ordered the Neurosis & to be Straight Up it is a Huge Perfect Burger. My brother got the Metallica and it Too was Huge and Amazingly Tasteful. I found the Tiny Straws a bit Odd, and it is EXTREMELY Smoky in the Seating Areas – they really should work on cutting that back. But I love the Tiny but Very Cool Bathroom Covered w/Graffiti & 1920s Tattoo Art. And their version of a Moscow Mule was excellent with Vanilla Vodka and Cranberry Jam. Three Chef's Sling out the Burger Perfection - oh and Did I mention that they are HUGE – Yes Everyone leaves with the Doggie Bag. The Handmade Potato Chips are Excellent also, Definitely try the Fried Pickles (cut as Thin Quarters as they Should be) and the Build Your Own Mac & Cheese (w/Andouille Sausage, Bacon, Green Onion & Sundried Tomato) is to Die For (Really). The French Fries are just OK not Crisp and I really did not care for them. Still this is One of My 10 Ten Burger Joints...

Trendy Spot in a classic Chicago Neigborhood

By Robert C |

I believe this is the Avondale neighborhood, but a trendy spot right on the corner. First from the street not much curb appeal. Second parking in this neighborhood kinda stinks. Most importantly the FOOD is worth the trip and hassle. Burgers are big, and tasty. Fires are excellent, they make their own Giardiniera Ketchup..hmm hmm its good. Atmosphere is trendy, hipster. Staff all have hearts of gold and cool people. Here they play heavy metal, or rock all the time and its loud, but not so loud you can't carry on a conversation. Movies play in the background over the bar, usually horror, or blood and gut stuff. The day I was there they played Thrashin..an great 80's skateboarding movie. I took my brother for a birthday lunch, on a Monday around 2 pm crowd was small, and normal everyday peeps from the Chi...so if you are in town want a great burger and a cold beer...go here...Prices are ok, nothing special.

YUMMY, but LOUD!!!

By sofigigi |

I was so excited to go eat here! Not a huge fan of the music but it was tolerable. Go for the burgers and hand cut fries! Great beers on tap too!!! Our waitress was wearing a shirt that said, "satanic feminist" we were laughing so hard at that. She was very nice and a good server. Place is small so expect to wait for a table...or you can belly up at the bar.

Vegan burger?

By Craig T |

Really? You've added vegan options? Stop it. Just stop it. Are you going to turn the music down next? This is not what Kuma's customers come for. Insulting your core customer base is never smart. We come for big meat and hard rock. You have the best burgers in town. Great bartenders. And the company is growing like crazy. Why wimpify it?

Fun atmosphere, best mac-n-cheese in my life

By wondergirl_il |

I had never heard of Kuma's before this was suggested to me by a friend. We went on a Sunday evening, and the place was packed. However, we were seated right away. The atmosphere is darkly intriguing. I had mac-n-cheese with buffalo chicken on top. I was in heaven. The portion was so large that even though I couldn't stop eating, I barely made a dent. I was very happy to have some for breakfast the following morning. :-)

Not as loud as I was promised!

By 1saabstory |

We went here on a Friday night expecting (and looking forward to) loud metal music. The music was extremely moderate but the place was 100% packed which contributed to the noise level. We were quoted a 40 minute wait for 2 and went to the bar to order drinks. The hostess was very nice as were the two bartenders who both informed us about possible seats becoming available at the bar and offering us menus in advance. A few reviews have mentioned slow service. I wouldn't call it slow, it was more methodical. The servers weren't scrambling around getting drinks, they were taking their time and interacting with the customers. The beer list is great and they asked me what I liked and talked me through a few options. I appreciated that they didn't just say "well, I'll come back when you decide" and move on to the next person. Hostess was extremely friendly and attentive as well. When we did find seats at the bar she immediately came over and asked if we would be happy staying there or if we would still like a table. She was dedicated to moving people into seats as quickly as possible. The prices are high, but there is a novelty to the place and the food is quite good. My burger was cooked perfectly and the portion was too much to finish. The kitchen is open and you can clearly see the cooks working their butts off. One tip, the PBR's are only $3.00 and if you are feeling generous, buy the kitchen a round of beers. They will be extremely grateful.

Gourmet burgers topped with heavy metal music

By Taylor B |

We're not into heavy metal music or Jack Daniels on tap or small label whiskeys or craft beers but we'll never turn down a good hamburger. So it figured that, sooner or later, we'd find our way to Kuma's Corner at 2900 West Belmont Avenue, at the corner of Belmont and Francisco, in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood. Opened in 2005, they take great pride in producing a variety of delicious and unique gourmet burgers and supporting a host of heavy metal musicians. No Budweiser or Miller High Life served here. At Kuma's Corner, it's all about the burgers. A couple of Chicago restaurant surveys agreed to disagree. They couldn't decide which gourmet burger was better, the signature Kuma Burger with bacon, sharp cheddar, fried egg, lettuce, tomato and onion, or the Neurosis, with horseradish mayo, sharp cheddar, swiss, caramelized onion, sauteed mushroom, lettuce, tomato and onion. You'll have to make your own choice. Or maybe you'll prefer the Slayer, a 10-ounce patty on a bed of fries, chili, cherry peppers, caramelized onion, andouille sausage, shredded monterrey jack and green onion. Or Led Zeppelin, which includes bacon, slow cooked pork shoulder, barbecue sauce, sharp cheddar and pickles. If you like pulled pork, try the Pig Destroyer. Another unique item is the Hatebeak, two jumbo chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce, monterrey jack, blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato and onion. All told, there are 19 gourmet burgers on the menu guaranteed to satisfy your appetite. The appetizers are good, too...BBQ pork fries, buffalo chicken tenders, chili, mac and cheese, jalapeno peppers or fried pickles. From top to bottom, you won't find a tastier number of burgers on any other menu in Chicago. No wonder Kuma's Corner ranks among the top 10 on nearly every food critic's list.

My Favorite Burger in Chicagoland

By OPDonnyG |

Au Cheval has a more prestigious reputation but Kuma's has a better burger. That's right I said it. I like Kuma's better than Cheval's. Please I'm not saying Cheval's is nothing but fantastic. I just prefer a thick burger. My favorite Kuma's burger is the "Black Sabbath" . Don't forget to try the BBQ Pork Fries. You are going to take half of what you order home, unless you are lucky enough to go with someone that likes the same burger and you are smart enough to only order one for the two of you. Kuma's is a burger not to miss if you are visiting Chicagoland. There are several locations now. I have eaten at the original and the one in Schaumburg. Both were equally good. That leads me to believe whichever location you visit, you will get the same service and quality. Kuma's also has a beautiful beer selection.

An exciting experience!

By 5heartfamily |

Kuma's Corner is a rambunctious place - loud heavy metal music, lots of people talking, busy serving staff, signs everywhere - making it incredibly fun! There are AMAZING burger combinations, enormous Mac & Cheese plates, and an extensive list of craft beers available. We shared an order of yummy Fried Pickles, then each ordered a burger. The portions are huge, so despite everything being incredibly tasty, I could only finish half of my order. If you like spicy, edgy, over-the-top combinations this is your place. Don't come if you're squeamish, like quiet, or aren't tolerant of all types.

You just have to check this place out.

By tiffanithomason |

If you like metal/heavy metal, loud music, burgers, beer, and the atmosphere of a metal concert, than this is your place. Personally, I loved it and it lived up to it's hype. It's a busy joint so be prepared to wait to get a seat. The burgers are all named after metal bands, there is no ranch available; but they make their own blue cheese which was delicious. The burgers were amazing and you get to choose how you want it cooked. There are no vegan options, so if you are vegan, you should probably start eating meat. There are no waffle fries so I have no clue why the picture attached to this shows a burger featured with waffle fries. Totally misleading. Anyways, check it out!

Stay away

By Cruiseseeker333 |

They are trying way too hard. Just becaUse you incorporate Pantera and other rock music doesn't make you a great bar. Way too many millennials and like minded for this place to rock. Food was sub par. Prices were too high. Service was average. Don't incorporate rock music into a Justin Bieber hangout.

DELISH

By bpaige718 |

My hubby got the Kumo burger- fantastic! I got the Minotaur- phenomenal! The homemade hand cut fries and chips were out of this world- we also tried the homemade mac & cheese with bacon & garlic- omg! You MUST go here!

Heavy Metal burger in Chicago

By MichaelKohn1 |

Totally love this place. Not too busy on a late Sunday afternoon so got right in and sat at the bar. Super great service. Got a basic burger/fries. The only minor complaint I have was that the bun was a little "soggy" as the burger was resting in it's own juices. Flavor was fine. If you're interested in exploring the Chicago neighborhoods, check out Kuma. A quick 15-20 minute ride from downtown. Worth the time/effort.

Funky atmosphere, great burgers!

By newfer23 |

Amazing place to visit, very different from all the typical tourist spots. We went about 3:30pm on a Saturday and encountered a 45 minute wait for the 2 of us. Since this was on our list of places to eat we decided to wait. So glad we did! The atmosphere is definitely alternative, loud rock/heavy metal music, tattooed/pierced staff...but they were awesome! Very courteous and checked in from time to time. I had the Led Zeppelin burger (beef patty, pulled pork, cheese, pickles). It was huge! All the burgers are the same size from what I could tell. All I know was mine was delicious! If you like burgers and some heavy rock I highly recommend this place. I'll go back when I'm in town again!

Food Porn meets Mt. Everest!

By julesrules30 |

It's hard to see how anyone could finish these burgers without help. Portions are big. My out of town friends insisted we try this unique north-side tavern/hamburger joint. It did not disappoint. This place screams Chicago. I had to try the Slayer. It's a hamburger served on a huge mound of french fries then topped with chili, cherry peppers, green onions, carmelized onions, anadouie sausage and melted jack cheese. Enough to feed three people. But, it was delicious. Bar food perfection at this rock and roll themed local tavern. It gets real crowded. But, we had no problem getting seats at the bar to eat and drink. My friends loved it after walking all day touring the city.

Biker bar come burger joint

By Samanta E |

I've been hearing about how good Kuma's is for ages and finally had a chance to try it out for myself, I was not disappointed. I loved the place, it is just the kind of grungy rocker's spot that I gravitate towards, perfect kind of burger joint. They are always busy, but we were lucky and only waited for about 15 minutes. It's a huge menu so the possibility of going back a lot to try different burgers is high! I had the special, I can't remember what they called it but they basically loaded it up. It was excellent. Perfectly cooked, good mix of toppings, chips were good not excellent, but that's really being picky. Loved it and I will be back.

Best burger!

By maggieben2019 |

Great food, wonderful bar service, nice beer selection. This place is perfect! Small location, but everything about it is wonderful! Fun, loud and great food.
