The staff was very friendly, and helpful. I didn't have time to try the food, but it looks unique and delicious. Most of their beers are above average, but the Auster Bier, and the Sichuan were very good. I went on a Sunday afternoon, so it was a little slow, but it seems like a nice place to hang out. If you a craft beer fan, this is a good place to check out.

Do not go in expecting authentic German food! The selection of beers is great. The service is horrendous. Definitely gone downhill. We had to literally chase a waitress down. It took 20 minutes to order. The schnitzel was good, the bratwurst was good. The German potato salad was lacking vinegar and flavor(mushy potatoes)! The sauerkraut was not fermented enough so not a strong flavor. They have a golden beet salad that is good. The Spaetzle Mac was interesting. But that would be all I could suggest. There were 8 of us.

Enjoyed the outdoor seating. They have oscillating fans with misters which kept us cool. My husband had the lobster roll (available on Tuesday’s) and he said it was amazing. I had the chicken salad sandwich and I was pretty disappointed in it. It was bland and there was more lettuce than actual chicken salad on it. My kids had the fried bologna sandwich which was good!

This is great brewery to hang out at. Taproom has plenty of space. The patio and side room are a nice addition. Live music & really good beer. Drop in next time you are in San Antonio.

Great spot to meet with family and friends for a relaxed evening. Great variety of craft beer. We watched a football game. Played darts and had some really good snacks! Will definitely go again!

The Kunsler Brewery is a great place just south of downtown San Antonio that has great beer! We stopped off for lunch and paired the food up with some great micro brews. The service was great and the atmosphere was very inviting and they have a large variety of draft beer. I would highly recommend it!

Finally made it and glad we did. The variety of beer is great. You can always find something interesting to try. Have gone back a few times, and even took some friends. Good choices for food. Always seems to be a good crowd.

A local artist recommended Kunstler Brewing after a wonderful meal at Azuca Nuevo Latino Restaurant. He was spot on, a great place to hang out with friends in a comfortable, authentic, relaxing brew pub. The extensive beer menu features brews with names like Black Rose, Inconceivable Wit, Mind the Gap, Chamuco, on & on, each with a brief description and alcohol content. Can't decide, not to worry, they offer GENEROUS sized flights of five brews of your choice. This place is off the tourist beaten path but well worth the five minute taxi ride from downtown. What impressed our group went beyond the brews but the art displayed throughout. The photographs were by Hank Arriazola, world renowned adventure motorcycle rider photographer and one particular stunning painting of a Lion by Abraham which was displayed behind the bar. Both artists recently jumped onto the scene and are putting the San Antonio art scene on the map for all the world to see. I should mention Kunstler Brewing has a menu (German offerings mostly?), but as mentioned we'd finished dining earlier.

I've been to several places for German food, including Fredericksburg. Not one can come close to the fantastic jaeger schnitzel I had at Kunstler's. It was a very large chunk of heaven that covered the entire plate! I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day, and it was still magnificent! I. WILL. BE. BACK...SOON!

I really liked this place! They definitely thought about their atmosphere at Künstler. The layout is clean and well done. The bar is long and there are plenty of tables as well as outdoor seating. This was another stop on our vacation. It came up on a google search of breweries in San Antonio. This being towards the end of our vacation, we almost didn’t go simply from being worn out. We would have missed out. We were welcomed warmly and grabbed a couple flights to get to know the beer. The design of their flight carries is great, hard to spill anything from a box. We settled on their Inconceivable Wit and JoJo (saison) for our full pints. Their spiced porter (with things like ancho and chocolate) was good. I tried their cascadian dark ale (black ipa) which was decent but alas, still an ipa. Shout out as well to the Cashmere Hefeweizen and Tejano Coffee Porter. The food selection was good. We got a pretzel and small charcuterie board to snack on. I like that they offer food but that the emphasis is definitely on the beer. Its a good balance. On a personal note, I wish the music playing was more of a mix rather than just country. But their thing is that they are German/Texan so it fits them. Still good. Also, as is our custom, we bought a pint glass and shirt (tank for my wife, they were out of stuff for guys). Unfortunately, we think in the confusion of leaving and wrangling our kiddos, we left them on our table. We’ll grab some more when we can get back there. I wish we’d had been able to sit at the bar and talk to the staff more about the place but with our kids we tend to pick tables. I’m impressed with the work they’ve done and immensely enjoyed their beer. They should be pleased. I hope in the future they’ll be able to can so we can take some back to Ft. Worth. Either way, we hope to be back and whole heartedly recommend everyone check them out.

Great food and beer. Friendly service. They’re building a larger bier garden now. I’ll visit it again when I’m in San Antonio.

We visited this brewery based on the descriptions of the beers we found online. Read them. They are hilarious. This place is back in a neighborhood and parking in the lot is limited so I would plan on street parking. There is inside and outside seating. We sat at the bar. Service was efficient and staff were friendly. The beers were really tasty. My husband and I each got a flight (all different beers). Prices were on par with every other brewery we've ever been too. While in Texas we ended up at three different breweries. Two in San Antonio and one in Dripping Springs. As a whole this place had the best overall beers IMO. I do recommend this place. As a side note, when asked about places to eat in town one of the bartenders gave us two suggestions (titos and batallion) and we ended up trying them both- thanks bartender (i don't remember your name)- but these were excellent suggestions.

San Antonio, Texas isn’t normally associated with beer. But the south- central Texas city is making a name for itself as a city that does, indeed, know a thing or two about the craft. And one of the many craft breweries that now call San Antonio home is Kunstler Brewing. I visited Kunstler Brewing while in San Antonio for a weekend getaway and I liked what I saw and experienced. Its name makes you think of Germany and german brew, but you get a mixture of cultural influences that includes Mexican and other ethnicities. The brewery is located in a residential neighborhood and because of that, you feel like you’re part of the local crowd when you’re here. Kunstler Brewing is a brewpub and those who visit will find a wide assortment of beers in tap. There is hefeweizen, porter, Belgian Tripel, Farmhouse Ale, Helles lager, brown ale, and others on tap. Yes, they have the usual IPA also, but it was certainly a nice change to see so many varieties of beer options and not the typical dominance of IPA. With food, the options are generally ones that match with beer. You will find such foods as brats, sandwiches, pretzels, cheese boards, hot dogs, salads, etc. They even serve wine if you would rather not drink beer. And the menu, while definitely leaning in a German direction, has something to satisfy most cravings even though it is limited overall. Kunstler Brewing has a large outdoor space. There is a front porch and an outdoor beer garden on one side, both of which are dog friendly. They have games like cornhole and jenga and the service is top- notch. It’s a cool brewery overall and I’m glad it caught my attention during my San Antonio visit. The neighborhood vibe, solid beers, and knowledgeable staff make Kunstler Brewing a place deserving of a visit.

Nice brewery, great place to be. We had the Thursday special & a tasting flight to share. Friendly waitress. Great atmosphere. When you like beer, go here!

Awesome experience - great service and fun beers brewed on site! Delicious food for a German brewery. Fun play area for dogs and kids!

This is in a very odd location basically in a residential area. However, it's a very nice place and worth checking out. They have an excellent beer selection with many German, IPA's and Darker Beers. They also have a very unique food menu. Finally, they have a fantastic staff and our server was especially helpful.

We went during Octoberfest so it was a mad house but they were doing a good job keeping up with everything. Good selection of beers. Food is good too. Seating outside for pets.

I located this spot on TripAdvisor. I am from SA and have never heard of this place. i am so glad I found it on TripAdvisor. love the beer. very friendly. a must try

We had burgers, schnitzel and vegan schnitzel. All we're excellent. Especially my blue burger. One way I tell if a place is concerned with your experience is if they take extra steps to make things good. Here there are sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling. Not expensive but very effective. Even full of people is not loud. Good beer selection. Easy excellent rating

This place is off the beaten path but it sure was worth the visit. True beer lovers rejoice...if you're tired of the IPA lovefest you find at every other North American brewhouse, look no further than Kunstler. Authentic German beer...just wow. The Schwarzbier was my favorite. Good food and friendly staff, too.

Stopped in for a snack and to sample some of the beers - and I am glad we did. Rarely do I get a beer flight and love all of the beers on it, and it happened at Kunstler. Since all the beers were great how could it get any better? They do growler fills, the have a (small) kitchen that makes some great bites, and the building itself is big and welcoming. The have outdoor seating as well as quite a large indoor space. This place is probably my favorite brewery I've been to in SA, I'll definitely be back.

Hidden gem of a spot with traditional German food as well as German food with a twist like a Bahn Mi Brat. Also have plenty of beer to choose from.

This is a very informal, easy-to-enjoy place. It's an order at the front & pick up at the back place with a young vibe. The food menu is a bit limited but there should be something for everyone. The beer roster is more extensive with some interesting options for people who like to try new things. It is a welcome addition to the Southtown/SoFlo area.

Came in on a Sunday night to try some beers. Beers were delicious and staff was great. Very friendly and helpful!
Glad I found this place.
Great beer brewed on site. Something to please all palates. Great food and friendly patrons and staff. Kid friendly, too. Glad I found this place, will definitely return.
