Christmas day dinner and I was so looking forward to it. I rarely post to trip advisor but so disappointed feel I need to. We arrived and were shown to our table through the masses of tourists in the lobby. We sat at our table and were then ignored for 20mins... No menu, not even an offer of a drink or drinks menu. I had to leave my seat and ask for one. A four course menu at a iconic hotel... One would expect something special - first 2 courses were terrible and out of our party of 5 only 2 are the first 2 dishes. This was not usual looking at the other tables. The main and dessert did offer some redemption but at $119 each one would reasonably expect something good. The service was terrible, just ignored, given a dessert and then had to ask for spoons!. This beautiful historic hotel is worthy of a visit but do not bother eating here, it was one of the most disappointed meals we have had in our travels through California.

we stopped in for a bite while waiting for our room to become available. the food was good but the service not what we expected. Luckily it was not reflective of our entire stay - the rest was flawless!

An impressive dining facility in the Fairmont Hotel. one of San Francisco's classic hotels. Great Afternoon Tea service. Also open for lunch and dinner, not sure about breakfast. Walls are pained with soothing landscapes and the whole effect is very tranquil while simultaneously grand.

If you are staying at the Fairmont on Knob Hill In san Francisco, and you must eat at the hotel, Laurel Court is not a bad option. It's located off the main lobby, it's huge and can get quite busy. It's by no means upscale but on the high side of average. Quite pricey for the experience but if you are staying at The Fairmont, price shouldn't be a concern.

Five for cocktails: Pleasant but quite inexperienced wait person. The bill had inexplicable item descriptions and charges 40% over stated menu prices, A complaint to a "manager" produced a revised bill with equally inexplicable item descriptions and charges 20% over stated menu prices. Having wasted 10 minutes attempting correction, we paid and left. Unless "money is no object" get clear with the wait person what the actual prices are when ordering.

I am a coniesure of tea time ritual. This was the worst experience and service I have ever had for a traditional high tea. Very poor service. We had to find the hostess to find our waiter several times to just get a second pot of hot water. Coffee cups instead of porcelain tea cups. Earl Gray that tasted like Lipton. Plastic containers for out Devonshire cream and lemon curd. They should just NOT do a traditional tea. Epic failure on so many fronts. Skip it.

Took my parents and grandmother here while in San Francisco for afternoon tea. Everyone enjoyed the food, tea and the charm of the restaurant and of the historic hotel. Everyone gets their own pot of tea, so no need for a consensus among the party.

I couldn't believe what a horrific experience I had with my mother and daughter at the Fairmont today for afternoon tea. We came into the city for the day and I wanted my 7 year old to have fun with being pampered at tea. The Laurel Court table setting looked like something out of Howard Johnson's, so I knew I was in for a cheesy hotel experience. Sure enough, we were seated by the kitchen door even though much better tables were empty and remained empty for our time there. ALL of the service staff was bored with their jobs and never even bothered to look at us when they talked to us. I was hoping someone would make over my daughter, she was never even noticed. The worst part was when one of the wait staff came out of the kitchen with his mouth full of food! I couldn't believe it! Disgusting! I actually said aloud, I can't believe that guy is coming out of the kitchen with his mouth full but he must not have heard me because he did it again. The food was so-so, but all I could think about was the water guy sticking his finger in it for a bite before he entered the dining area. This place was more than a disappointment and I paid almost $200 for it. I will be making sure I reach as many people as possible to warn them to STAY AWAY!!!!!

Upon arrival I was overtaken by the beautify of the room. Very nicely done. Old world elegance. Then I met the host. His inability to assist me with my reservation on time. Then his rude exchange with another client. I was very upset by his behavior. Then we were seated. We waited for service for more than 1 hour then finally the server attended our table. Once our order was placed. Again we waited. and waited. one hour and the food started to come. Two dinners came but there were six of us. Then 20 minutes and three more dinners came. Finally another came. We were all served. lol I will never again enter the Laurel Court.

Beautiful setting for eating, but it was pricey and really nothing special. Would expect more from this hotel. Nothing bad, but not noteworthy.

Our family of five enjoyed dinner (steaks and scallops done to perfection); Drinks and appetizers were fun while watching football; and morning brunch and menu items hit the spot. Thanks!

The Laurel Court is an exquisite room. The interior designers knew what they were doing. Pity about the management and staff. If the system allowed me to give it less than one out of five, believe me I would!

If you want a $46 steak that is way over cooked and is what you'd expect from somewhere like Applebee's then this is your place. My boyfriend had the bass and it tasted dry and like something unflavored from a fish market. The service was decent but don't waste your time, money, tastebuds, or a meal of your life here. Only positive was that we had a gift card so we didn't have to actually spend our money here.

Elegant room, nicely furnished in classic style. Service was professional, friendly and attentive. Food was mixed; club sandwich was huge, fresh and very tasty while the salad nicoise was not so good. The chunk of grilled tuna was less than appetizing to look at and hard as a rock . I was unable to cut it --even server was astonished and returned it to kitchen. Hopefully that was a one off situation. Would return.

Go there quickly! I heard there will have reconstruction soon. Gorgeous place in the classic hotel, if you aim to bring with your girlfriend to have a fabulous and romantic dinner, this is the place. recommend: Rib eye, Duck & crab cakes.

Sadly, I have to write about the bad service I recently experienced here. I usually get good or great service. We were a group of 4 women for lunch. We were seated promptly and that was it. Nobody came to bring us menus for a good 15 minutes. I had to get up and ask for menus. They gave us drink menus and no food items on it. The host came by then we had to ask for it. Then we were forgotten again. We were meeting other friends here, so we could not just leave. We decided to leave the table and walked up to the bar. Jaime greeted us with a smile. We told him our unhappy experience waiting at a table. He apologized and took our orders right away. The cocktails were outstanding. The food was average. Service is disappointing for me. Yes, the bartender saved our visit, but it should be number 1 for this type of establishment.

We walked up the hill from our hotel to afternoon tea. The tea was perfect and the food interesting in both combinations and presentation. The ambiance lacks a little to be desired, as it is hard to hear the person across the table. The room itself was elegantly decorated--a plus when doing afternoon tea.

During our stay we had dinner once and breakfast twice. Dinner prices are A La Cart, and portions are well sized. Breakfast has two varieties: A La Cart or breakfast buffet. Buffet offers Full Breakfast Buffet for $34.00 and Continental Buffet for $27.00, you have to pay extra $3.00 for an Espresso drink or $6.00 for a glass of Champagne. Breakfast open till 11.00 am, so you can sleep in.

Old school service experience. Fabulous ambience, especially in the evening. The bar scene is also very sophisticated.

Considering that this is the Fairmont's only dining venue except for the overcrowded Tonga Room, it is an overpriced major disappointment. Yes, it is a lovely gracious room; well, it would have been if the loudly snoring dog hadn't been at the next table. The service was inattentive and slow. There is a pretty limited dinner menu; I had a pasta dish that was bland and tasteless. They almost seem to be hoping you'll leave the hotel and go elsewhere for dinner and you should.

First time visitor to the Fairmont San Francisco. Elected the Laurel Court Lounge area versus the Tonga Room for nibbles and drinks. Variety of seating options to choose from. Very comfortable surroundings and excellent location for conversation. In a nutshell, what a wonderful experience, Our server was pleasant and attentive. The lounge menu was varied and priced accordingly. The food was well presented, good portion size, and was delicious. Highly Recommend.

We were staying nearby and decided to try the restaurant at The famous Fairmont Hotel, one day for a light lunch (very good value) and the next time for dinner, after checking out a couple of places which were either too noisy or booked out, and we were very glad we did. The setting is delightful, the staff helpful and the seating very comfortable. The Italian seafood dish we chose was delicious, the wine matched very well and we particularly enjoyed the talented pianist playing grand piano as a lovely backdrop to the whole experience. Don't overlook this restaurant on Nob Hill next time you want a good night out.

Went in for our 'night cap', and had a wonderful time! Piano music on Saturday night, a terrific young Irishman waited on us and was lovely. The ambiance was spot on for a nice round of drinks!

My husband and I booked a table in advance to enjoy High Tea on the occasion of our anniversary. The manner in which tea is served leaves much to be desired -- constant refilling with hot water a tiny tea pot, rather than a regular sized one, nonfat milk to add. Our tray of delectables didn't arrive until 45 minutes after we'd arrived. My husband was required to step out and flag our waiter down who gave us the excuse that we had taken so long to choose our type of tea (it had been 20 minutes or more since we had received it), rather than just say he had forgotten. The sandwiches were exemplary, but so tiny with the additional carbohydrates and sweets provided, that my blood sugar was through the roof when we left. A better balance with protein would have been much appreciated. We did not like the new, modern additions being made the decor either, but that is a item of personal preference. The mention that we were celebrating our anniversary was included with our reservation, so it was notable that no one made mention of it until the very end. That is not a good sign of fine dining hospitality at this establishment.

Although it has a limited menu, it was a really fun dining experience. Affordable with a good wine list. We relaxed throughout the meal, and it was a very fun experience.

The Sunday brunch buffet was priced like a "special" event but was disappointing on every level. The food was okay but a terrible value considering the cost. They also automatically add 15% for "service", although it's a self serve buffet and the waiter came by once to pour lukewarm coffee and was never seen again. The cost was $88 for two. We ate at The Plow in Potrero Hill the preceding morning. My suggestion...take a 10 minute Uber to The Plow and eat great food.

This is an elegant lobby-level restaurant and bar. Their menu is brief but wide-ranging. Two recommendations - The onion soup is some of the best I've ever had and the High Tea is an experience worth having.

The best part of this restaurant is the piano player. The food tasted great and the service was quick.

We just spent Christmas at the Fairmont in Sonoma and continued on our holiday to the Fairmont in SF. When we asked the concierge about reservations for Laurel Court, she said they were completely booked for last evening ( Dec 28,2016), but that she may be able to work some magic to get us a table for two. I wish the magic hadn't worked. We got all dressed up for this fine dining experience and couldn't have been more disappointed. Our reservation was at 7pm and the Restaurant was only about 25% full. The food was mediocre at best. We had the lobster Mac and Cheese appetizer. It was ok. For dinner we had the Filet, roasted potatoes and sautéed kale. The kale was cold and the Filet had no flavor. We ordered the Strawberry Mandarin Semmi-Freddo. It was Unrecognizable according to the description on the menu. The computer system went down when it was time to pay - so we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for them to figure out how to process our credit card. As other trip advisor raters have previously stated for the higher priced menu - there are many better options out there. We did read the ratings, but held out hope that Laurel Court had listened and made adjustments.

Happy to pay a $75 min per person in such an iconic location ... if the menu didn’t reassemble a low market diner. Just go look - don’t pay and stay

We particularly enjoyed our Afternoon Tea for two at the Laurel Court. There was plenty to take away with you.

Today is my friends Birthday. It was also our first time eating at Laurel Court Restaurant and Bar. I made reservations for lunch in September, told the hostess it was my friends Birthday and would be our first time at the restaurant. I called back in October to reverify our reservation time, got a answering machine and left my name and number. Mary called back in about five-ten minutes, which I appreciated. Today at the restaurant we were warmly greeted, and shown to our seats. Our waiter Ven, was prompt, professional and since my girlfriend could only have decaffeinated ice tea, which was not on the menu, Ven offered to brew her some peppermint tea, and my friend got her decaffeinated ice tea. We both ordered to French Onion Soup, and the Turkey Sandwich. The soup was very good and hot. Cheese was nicely melted. Turkey sandwich was very good. Then to my surprise, Ven brought over a huge piece of Chocolate Cake, with a candle in it. Written around the cake and on the plate was Happy Birthday written in chocolate. My girlfriend was so surprised, and happy. The cake was amazing! It was really really good. My girlfriend saved some and took it home. We had a very pleasant and wonderful experience at Laurel Court, and everyone made my friends Birthday very special. I hope you have as good a experience as we did.

We were looking for a nice Sunday Brunch during our family vacation in San Fran, unfortunately I think we could have done better. At $40 per adult I have a certain expectation for what a brunch at a top hotel should be. I would expect a carving station of some sort, turkey, ham, beef... there wasn't one. I would expect lunch items in addition to breakfast items.. there weren't many at all. Maybe some shrimp cocktail? None The room is pretty but dated, they were actually closing for renovations the week after we dined here. The smoothie bar was a nice touch and the kids enjoyed it. They did have an omelette station, but the wait was very long. The service was excellent the waiters were very good about refilling drinks and clearing plates which is not always the norm at brunch.

Maybe I was jaded since I had just dined at Michael Jordan's restaurant in Chicago or because I expect good service and food when I am paying prices I cannot really afford, but this place was way less than stellar when it came to service and food. Ordered a greens salad that was overdone on dressing. Ordered a filet mignon that came to the table mooing. Sent it back and it came back okay, but the meat had at least a half ounce of fat I did not eat. My advice: if you have a large convention, don't assume people are going to expect less than your best.

We stayed at the Fairmont on Nob Hill for 5 days after spending 13 days in Hawaii ( Seven of the 13days was cruising the Islands on the Pride of America) We had Signature Corner Suite on the 18th floor. When booking the suite we opted for the breakfast package. Every morning breakfast was delightful in a quiet relaxing setting which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had dinner at the Laurel Court on the last night of our stay. The atmosphere was quiet and enjoyable unlike many restaurants. We would highly recommend staying at the Fairmont; dining at the Laurel Court and Tonga Room too.

We had our last meal here before we left for Yosemite. Our breakfast was great and our last meal there while staying at the Fairmont. It was worth the money due to the exceptional service.

During our early March stay at the Fairmont San Francisco, I had the opportunity to visit the Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar, in the hotel’s lobby three times. The first was with my wife, after dining off-property, then for Breakfast, solo, and finally, the bar, while waiting for my driver to take me to the airport. Each experience, late night drinks, Breakfast and then afternoon wine, was different, but each was excellent. The Laurel Court is in the lovely lobby of the Fairmont San Francisco, with a large dining area, split into sections, but adjacent to each other, plus a lovely bar, off to the side. Each area has a unique “character,” and I wish that our stay had been longer – next time! I often write about “views” from restaurants, and bars. I am going to do that again, but with Laurel Court, there is a twist. The “views” are of the gorgeous lobby of the hotel, so those views are all inside. However, that does not, in any way, diminish how breathtaking they are. OK, one is not looking out at the Golden Gate, or the Bay, but so what. The lobby is well worth a few hours of study. One could be mentally transported to say the Bar at the Dorchester, in London/Mayfair, or maybe even to a different time/place, when travel was grand, and folk arrived at select grand hotels with a month’s worth of clothes. It is just that sort of place. The Bar is smallish, but very comfortable, and my wife found the purse hooks convenient. the bar is befitting of the classic nature of the hotel, and is elegant. The breakfast seating area, where I was seated, was just as lovely, and I reused to turn on my tablet, so as not to disturb my viewing of the grand lobby area. While not as grand, as say the Garden Court at the near-by Palace Hotel, it has its own charms, and one MUST take those in. We found the service at the Bar, to be great – both friendly, and efficient. While the wine list was not as extensive, and I like, it was more than adequate, and I was glad to not see many of “the usual suspects.” We got to enjoy ourselves, in comfort and quiet. When I returned the next afternoon, I “opened the place.” I had arrived early (bags packed already, but still two hours before my driver), and just set up shop at the bar. In a few moments, servers arrived, and began setting up things for the opening. The bartender would not arrive for another 30 mins, when the Bar would officially open. I was waiting patiently, just catching up on a little work (work that I had put off, just to stare at my surroundings during Breakfast), when one of the servers approached, and asked if I wanted to order. Order? They were not going to open for half an hour. I mentioned the wine list and instantly had it in front of me. He asked if I had made a selection, and had my wine in front of me quickly – they were not open for another 30 mins! Such is the service at the Fairmont, and the Laurel Court Bar. Back to Breakfast, service was great, and also friendly. Actually, though this was my first stay at the Fairmont (wife had stayed their twice before, solo), everyone in the hotel, and especially the Laurel Court Restaurant, and the Bar, acted like I was a favorite, returning guest. I almost felt, as though I was. I had the Huevos Rancheros w/ eggs sunnyside up, tortillas (red, blue and yellow), salsa ranchera, avocado and refried beans, plus an added order of crisp Bacon. With Orange Juice, and lots of Coffee, I was set. The Huevos Rancheros were superb, and the Bacon, exactly as I ordered it. I saw a Breakfast Buffet, but did not explore it in detail – The Huevos Rancheros were just what I wanted. The Eggs great, the Refried Beans tasty, and the Tortillas hot, moist and soft. Service was excellent, and I wanted for nothing. I never felt rushed either – just perfect! What is not to like – a stunningly beautiful venue, excellent food, very good wines, and perfect service? I will be returning, and hope that my wife’s meeting schedules allow her to dine with me. I seem to have gotten the better end of this deal, as she only got to sample a bit of wine, at the Bar.

In November we had another stay at the Fairmont San Francisco. We had the opportunity to visit the Laurel Court Restaurant & Bar, in the hotel’s lobby for breakfast during this stay. Previously, with off-property meetings, she really only got to experience the Laurel Court for coffee, before heading across town.. The Laurel Court restaurant is in the lovely lobby of the Fairmont San Francisco, with a large dining area, split into sections, but adjacent to each other, plus a lovely bar, off to the side. Each of these areas has a unique “character.” On this visit, we were seated a bit to the back of this grand room, closer to the buffet. People often inquire about “views” from restaurants, and bars. At Laurel Court, the “view” IS the interior spaces of the restaurant. It is just a grand, and beautiful room. The Laurel Court is not a place, where one rushes in and grabs something to eat in the taxi, or on the street. It is a restaurant, where one feels inclined to linger – take breakfast at more leisurely pace, and just savor every moment, and also the food.. The Bar is smallish, but very comfortable, and my wife found the purse hooks convenient. the bar is befitting of the classic nature of the hotel, and is elegant. The breakfast seating area, where we were this time, was a bit more intimate, and a bit on the dark side, but with a nice view of the rest of the dining area. For our Breakfast, service was great, and also friendly. While our server did mention the buffet, he had no issues with us ordering from the menu. We are just not “buffet people.” For this breakfast, I once again had the Huevos Rancheros w/ eggs sunnyside up, tortillas (red, blue and yellow), salsa ranchera, avocado and refried beans, plus an added order of crisp Bacon. With Orange Juice, and lots of Coffee, I was set. For the second time, the Huevos Rancheros were superb, and the Bacon, exactly as I ordered it. My wife had the Eggs Benedict, and found those to be excellent. Note that the menu refers to the ham as “Country Ham,” but do not be confused, as this is not the “Country Ham,” found in the mountain areas of West Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina – but it IS great ham, none the less. After dining off-property the first night, we stopped into the Laurel Court Bar for after-dinner drinks, and found two stools at the bar, though the room was quite busy. Again, service was excellent, and we enjoyed the Taylor Fladgate 30 Year Tawny, and the Sandeman 20 Year Tawny. This was a lovely experience, as we had just returned from a trip to Portugal, where we had visited both Port houses, and had enjoyed both of these same wines, in Vila Nova de Gaia. We later did a light lunch at the Bar, with: Tuna Tartare w/ avocado, bubu arare, finger lime, coriander flowers and taro chips – outstanding tuna, and the overall dish was great. The taro chips were a bit thin, which made scooping up the ingredients a bit of a challenge, but those ingredients made the effort worth it. Fish Tacos w/ cornflake-crusted cod, citrus slaw, crema and coriander aioli – Oops, a mis-step here. The cod was left over, and not in the best shape. Without hesitation, the bartender had the plate back to the kitchen, and a replacement on the bar in moments, with apologies from the chef. Now, this dish was excellent, and the error corrected. We sampled some of the wines with: Tarot Tempénce Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ‘14 Tarot La Justice Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ‘14 Calera Central Coast Chardonnay ‘16 Ampelos Cellars California Viognier ‘17 Then, we were off to SFO, to catch our evening flight to London. Three nice visits, and though we did have one issue, it was resolved very quickly, and with copious apologies.

So maybe I indulged my tastebuds a bit by having a little taste of all the things that I enjoyed...fresh coffee, fresh squeezed orange juice (I passed on the smoothies); freshly made waffles and fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries; an egg white omelet with an exquisite mix of mushrooms (that I saw the chef chopping),tomatoes, onions, and crab meat; smoked salmon that was flavorful; a variety of bagels that were right size, i.e., not enormous; baked goods that were fresh; a good assortment of breads; and, of course all the more traditional breakfast items. It may have been a buffet but the service was very attentive. I ended up having breakfast in the hotel every day!

Stayed in the hotel recently and had breakfast both mornings at Laurel Court. The buffet was fresh and tasty with a lot of variety. It's not a very inexpensive breakfast, but worth it if you're hungry. :-)

buffet breakfast is tasty, fresh and healthy. highly recommend the make to order omelette and waffles. they are really yummy.

The front portion of Laurel Court offers a casual lounge menu option. My daughter and I enjoyed a late dinner here after a hard day of touring. The restaurant is located right off the lobby and is beautiful. The lounge chairs were super comfortable. We enjoyed the Truffle French Fries and the Crab Mac and Cheese. Both were very tasty. I also had a perfectly prepared dirty martini. Our server was very friendly and the hostess was also very sweet. Definitely would return!

Our first time dining at Laurel Court and we will be back. Adding Laurel Court as a definite repeat for us. Danielle was our waitress and she was awesome from start to finish. Food portions are really nice size and in some cases starters or appetizers are big enough as an entree. Shout out to Diana at the front desk for finding our missing umbrella.

Breakfast was okay, not remarkable. Service was excellent and the restaurant is beautiful. Didn't return for any other meals.

We had a great time here with family & friends, staff was wonderful. food delicious Do not think that you will be disappointed

The breakfast menu was excellent but was very costly for a family traveling on vacation. It would have been helpful to have been provided some type of discount as this would serve as an enticement for others to dine on site rather than to seek meals elsewhere.

Went here for drinks at 4 PM in late December. The restaurant wasn't crowded. When our waiter took our order, he behaved as if he worked at a greasy spoon diner. No greeting, no politeness, and an abrupt grab of the menus out of our hands. And then we waited. And waited And waited. 20 minutes until our drinks arrived. The place was crowded, the waiter told us. Huh?

Went to the Fairmont Hotel Restaurant on a travel Zoo Deal for my birthday. The deal was get $120 worth of food for $65. We got there at the appointed hour and were seated. We ordered soup and salad to start, and waited for 40 minutes before it was brought. Then we waited yet another 30 minutes for our filets we ordered. They were cold when brought to the table. We told the waitress and she said "it is a little busy in here tonight" and offered no apologies or remedy for the cold steak. We ate two bites and took the rest home. All in all a very disappointing experience for such a high end restaurant!

After a day of cross-country flight delays, a group of us gathered here at the bar after check-in. Friendly service, fantastic wine/stemware, and indulgent burger! Friends enjoyed tuna tartare, popovers and flatbread. (Approx $50 for burger and glass of wine.)

When planning our trip to San Francisco, I never knew I'd end up taking some of my favorite memories home from an afternoon's wandering into the Fairmont San Francisco. Well, my husband knew what he was doing. The Laurel Court will re-set your clock if you need an aesthetic up-lift, a satisfying meal, or just a break from the world outside. The room envelopes you in classical beauty, curving around you with baby blues and creams and Old World ornamentation in a space large enough to swim in but partitioned for optimal sight lines and intimate seating. Like a sudsy warm bubble bath, once you're in, you don't ever wish to leave!

Afternoon Tea in the Fairmont Hotel Laurel Court was the most lovely afternoon with daughter. Dainty and delicious tea sandwiches, scones and sweets and your choice of freshly brewed leaf teas are everything you could hope for and expect. Restful and quiet surroundings, attentive staff, a very special treat. Highly recommend as a restful break from climbing San Francisco hills!

The Laurel Court is a beautiful looking spot in the oh-so-ritzy Fairmont. Don't let the looks fool you, though. The food is surprisingly mediocre for such a fancy hotel. I had their chicken with lentils and creme fraiche. the chicken was dry like jerky. The rest of the menu sounds good on paper, but if it's anything like the chicken it isn't worth the exorbitant price. I also had a flatbread. The flatbread was fine but nothing to write home about. I've also eaten here with family for breakfast. We did a la carte instead of the breakfast buffet. It was fine, but how do you mess up muesli? Except charging an arm and a leg for it. As someone who has been traveling and staying in hotels in and around Nob Hill for the past six months I would rate Laurel Court near the bottom of all the restaurants I've tried.

We had our breakfast here each morning. The omelettes, pancakes along with the fruit bowl were delicous!!!

Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. We had breakfast and dinner here. For breakfast I had the buffet. It was excellent, plenty of choice, and fresh. The made to order omletes were really good. For dinner, I had the burger. It was really good, probably one of the best burgers I have ever had. The fries were really solid too.

As part of our hotel package, we had the buffet breakfast every morning of our stay. The food was of very high quality, and the variety was excellent. For example the syrup is a house labeled vermont maple syrup. The omlette station was excellent, and fresh yogurt smoothies were always available. Selection varied from day to day, but it was always great. Service was quick and the dining room is appointed with fine linens and excellent furniture. The grand room and surroundings add to the dining experience.

As you went to the hotel there is a very large Christmas tree as well as a Santa Village decoration. There are a lot of white lights and greens. We had a late lunch. The menu is limited but all the food is excellent. Seating could be a challenge based upon the Fairmont policy and who they are serving and when.

The wife sleeps in so I need to fend for myself early mornings. We stayed in the hotel and this was closest. I had an omelet with toast and tea. It was good, but I do better. I had enough left to take some back to the room. Tab was $40. Be careful with the bill. A tip is already included and then there is space on the charge slip for another tip.

This was the first night of our 2 night stay at the Fairmont and we weren't very hungry so we stopped in for just a light dinner. I had the French onion soup and my wife had the white bean soup, both of which were delicious. We also tried the gruyere cheese popovers, which were hard and dry on the outside and a little bit too mushy on the inside, and surprisingly little taste. My wife does a much better job with her popovers! We found the service to be a little slow, a little lacking, but the setting also features live piano music, which my wife thoroughly enjoyed. It is an old world, charming, elegant kind of setting. We may have the opportunity to sample other menu items during our stay here.

The one star reviews for this tea service are on point, I only wish my wife and I had seen them prior to attending this ripoff guised as a chic experience. Save your $160 (yes, $160 for five 1 inch sandwiches and bad chocolates) and go to any other restaurant in San Francisco. The portions are tiny, and the desserts are all overly and sickly sweet. The "sandwiches" consist of very small pieces of bread with minimal toppings. The "chicken curry" was literally inedible and mealy, and while the ham and bacon was tasty, the price made this experience the absolute worst we've had in San Francisco. Shame on the Fairmont for serving $10 worth of product and charging customers what they do... and doing it during the holiday season just makes it more atrocious. NOTE: A 20% service/tip charge is automatically added, and you are NOT informed by the server. Make sure not to double tip on a crappy experience!

We went to this bar at Fairmont on August 2 afternoon and it was a bad choice and very unpleasant experience. First our table was very dirty, leftover food and crumbs all over the table & seats, then servers are very unprofessional and careless. Specially the the guy with ponytail. Not recommending this place !!

Great food and wine choices in a gorgeous setting in Fairmont Hotel! Fabulous brunch as well! Piano player after 5:00 and can just sit and have a wonderful glass of wine and enjoy all the ambiance!

We had one day to spend in San Francisco, and had been encouraged to see the Fairmont Hotel. A quick Uber ride up Nob Hill found us standing in the lobby of a magnificent hotel and the Laurel Court dining room. The Laurel Court Restaurant (I am reticent to call it a restaurant - it seems like it deserves the title of Dining Room. That is how lovely it is.) serves a very affordable luncheon menu of selections that include soups, salads, and hearty sandwiches. The Service is fast and very personal. They ask your name when you enter, and the server addresses you by name throughout your dining experience. There is a full bar, but if you simply want table water, it is delightfully fresh and served in a chilled carafe. The atmosphere is large and airy, so you can have a conversation without having to raise your voice. There is no pressure to eat quickly and make the table available to another customer, so we stayed and had coffee and dessert. We will come back -next time we'll plan a few days in the city and stay in the hotel. Their dinner menu looks exquisite.

We ate at the breakfast buffet because we stayed there. The food was excellent and the buffet had a great variety of food from fruits, cheeses, pastures, breads, eggs, omelets made to order, pancakes / french toast, eggs benedict, potatoes and breakfast meats.

My boyfriend and I have the same birthday so we wanted to enjoy a romantic restaurant for dinner. We figured the Fairmont would be a good place! Wrong. While the food was delicious, the service was very average (waited forever to be greeted, she brought the wrong drinks, rarely came to check on us.) And while it is a beautiful restaurant, it's more of a casual, jeans and a t-shirt, go eat with your family type of place. I felt overdressed in black pants and heels! What killed the mood even more was when we noticed the buffet set up along the entire perimeter of the restaurant. So it's a little difficult to feel like you're having a romantic, nice dinner when you know this is where the entire hotel comes down in sweatpants each morning for a buffet breakfast. At least the food was good!

We did not stay at the hotel, so I can not comment on the room. But I wanted to say that we had lunch and a few drinks at the bar while watching the hockey playoff game. Husband had the hamburger and he said it was delicious. I had the Greek salad and I tried the gruyere popover. All was great. Derrick, the bartender, was attentive and a pleasure to chat with.

We ate here several times. It is a beautiful area and at night the bar area is a fun place to socialize

We love the Fairmont and have stayed there several times. But even when we stay elsewhere, as we did on our most recent trip, we enjoy going to the Laurel Court bar and lounge area. Just walking through the lobby into the court is enjoyable. The court is spacious and the service is very good, as are the drinks and food. It’s a nice place to relax. I highly recommend their Negroni. If you’re in San Francisco during the holiday season, a stop at the Fairmont lobby is a must. It’s beautiful. We will return often.

…that a sentient human-being runs this restaurant – not in person, as none were evident on Saturday night last, nor in spirit because it was so clearly badly managed – it is hard to put ones finger on just what has gone wrong. It only needs one example of lack of management to show that mistakes can be costly to a restaurants reputation, indeed quite damaging in the long run, so I will expand on only one example. The menu, a fairly innocuous document, has a list of wines by the glass. Our waiter, a simple fellow, looked surprised to be asked for a list of wines by the bottle, but brought a device, an iPad, with the wine list. Now, I am not a 21-year-old computer geek and as the waiter was clearly thinking I might run off with his device, stood over me while telling me to scroll down the list…I don’t scroll – never have done and I don’t like devices. The management’s lack of intelligence here is breathtaking – do they expect 21-year-old computer geeks to order a decent bottle of wine, or do they expect that the client-base for bottles of good wine might be older and less tech-savvy? That is not a rhetorical question. True to form, the waiter, bless him, brought an un-chilled bottle of the decent white wine I had chosen, plonked it in an ice-bucket and left it, unopened. It took quite an effort to find somebody to get the cork out. When I ordered a second bottle I was advised that there wasn’t one….though a few minutes later one was found, already chilled…..and so on and so forth. Tempted to give the place the digitus impudicus, I couldn't because I would quite find it. A classic case of schlimmbesserung. Other quite dreadful events lead to an attempt to bribe me by offering the second bottle on the house – I pay for what I order, though others shouldn’t, by not going.

Food and staff were amazing. Eggs benedict was superb! They offer breakfast buffet daily or you can order off of the menu.

We went for high tea on Saturday afternoon. We did not have a reservation but they accommodated us since we were hotel guests. The tea was very nice and it included finger sandwiches, scones and pastries. The price was reasonable given the location and the setting and service were very lovely.

a classic room in an elegant hotel, wonderful environment, nearly perfect service, excellent food, a great menu, other then that its just ok; :) breakfast lunch or dinner, but especially breakfast and lunch since there are so many great places for dinner in San Francisco, its indeed memorable...

We had booked a 6:30pm reservation on Open Table. We finished our shopping and called the restaurant to see if we could move up our dinner to 6pm. "Certainly." Score 1 point! We were seated immediately and our server introduced himself as Oscar. He was fantastic! I had stated on my reservation hat it was our anniversary; he acknowledged that and asked which anniversary. "26" replied my wife. Oscar acted amazed and congratulated us tremendously. Then, he brought us complementary champagne! Though the menu is limited, most that we ate was delicious. We started with the artichoke dip - to die for! Oscar even brought extra crostini so we could finish it all. My wife had the rib eye steak, (at $58 the menu's priciest item) cooked medium rare as she requested. Unfortunately, it came with a side of fries that she began munching and couldn't stop, they were so good. Thus, she wasn't able to eat all her steak. I ate some of it - it definitely was good - seasoned differently than most - no garlic? - but excellent. I had the ravioli which were incredible. For dessert we had the cheesecake, which was "meh" served with excellent decaf coffee. All in all, a fantastic meal, and Oscar is to be commended! My only complaint is that the clientele seemed a bit, uh, non-Fairmontish. Shorts & sweats on some. A family with LOUD kids, etc. Not what I remembered from before.

The Breakfast Buffet at the Laurel Court is to die for. It is expensive, but worth if for a treat. The selection is typical of this type of buffet but good. The pecan sticky buns are sinful. The setting of the Laurel Court is beautiful so it is fun to sit there and just enjoy the decor. We also had drinks there the night before and the bar food was good. You don't really need to leave the hotel to eat well.

this is located in the Fairmont San Francisco and it was convenient for breakfast. It is very expensive for what you get, and what you get could be cold pancakes, among other things. If you have the time, go somewhere else, you get better food for a lot less.

Not the biggest buffet selection I've seen but more than adequate and the quality good. Esp liked the large bowls v fresh berries on offer not something i'd seen before and I happily indulged while my boys enjoyed the giant waffles

We dropped in after a day in Golden Gate Park. What a fine place to enjoy cocktails and excellent bar fare. The Pomegranate Poloma is de rigeur.

This restaurant provides an excellent dining experience. The breakfast buffet was very hearty. It offers wide variety of choices, from continental breakfast to hot breakfast. There's a cook who will make your omelet any way you want it. I had mine sunny-side up! Dinners were romantic. The background music coming from the Grand Piano was pleasant. Our food were prepared to our satisfaction. The wait staff were professional and service was excellent! We would come to dine here again!

A Belated birthday treat for mom. Laurel Court is a beautiful and the tea experience was wonderful. Our service was fantastic, and I do have an allergy and they accommodated it superbly. I would absolutely go again!

This is a beautiful room with old fashioned elegance that isbeginning to look its age. It should not be redone just maintained better. The wine list was very expensive and not exceptional. The lunch had limited choices with the fish taco not having more than a spoon full of fish. The service was professional and excellent. It is sad to see a once special place diminished by a poor menu.

the fairmont is such a classic, ornate hotel. their tea service was exactly what you'd expect at that type of place. if you're staying at the fairmont you have to try this once!

We've spent a dozen nights at the Fairmont but never had dinner in the Laurel Court. We're glad we finally did—it was very enjoyable. The ambiance is open and pleasant, though the piped in '60s music was an odd choice for dinner time. We began with some outstanding sourdough bread, a plate of fresh oysters and the French onion soup and tomato bisque, all of which were excellent. We each had the scallops and they were perfectly prepared. None of the dessert offerings were appealing so we closed out with espressos. Our server was very pleasant and attentive.

While in San Francisco, having afternoon tea is a must (at least for me!). My family and I decided to have afternoon tea at the iconic Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill. I’ve had afternoon tea at many venues and I’d have to say this was one of the best! Our server Oscar, was very nice and accommodating and took very good care of our party of eight! He was gracious and took the time to explain what was being served and was very attentive to our party. He even joined in singing “Happy Birthday” to my sister-in-law when he delivered a complimentary bowl of strawberries and whipped cream with a birthday candle! The tea, sandwich offerings and sweets were delicious. I loved the atmosphere and the decor of the room. Very elegant and I felt like it was the “ old San Francisco”. I highly encourage you to have afternoon tea at the Fairmont!

The service was slow, the food was bland, the food was cold. I eat at a lot of hotel restaurants and found this to be well below the others. For what you're paying, you'd expect a lot more than just a snazzy menu presented in an iPad.

Enjoyed an absolutely delicious and filling brunch accompanied by efficient service. Nice restaurant setting in the Fairmont hotel with ample seating. Enjoyed all of the offerings - especially the prime rib, crispy bacon, selection of Northern California cheeses, fluffy French Toast, fresh California berries, sticky pecan roll, etc. A very nice and enjoyable meal.

I had a delicious Greek Salad. Loved the dressing and the Onion Soup was amazing. Came out hot with lots of cheese. Service was perfect!

the laurel court is a top shelf hotel restaurant.the breakfast buffet is exactly what you would expect from a first class location.the service is exceptional.fermin and hasen made us feel like we lived at the hotel instead of being visitors.the price point for all meals is reasonable.it is worth a visit if you are visiting anywhere in san francisco.classic setting, great service, solid food, reasonable price points.

As I write this, I’ve been waiting for water for half an hour, after waiting for my first glass of water for at least 15 minutes. Abysmal service. Badly understaffed. I wonder when I’ll get my check. That said, the butter lettuce salad was good. Fresh. Tasty chicken on it. Delicious dressing. Overpriced, of course.

Food was delicious and all staff was super nice. We were in a hurry and had our food quickly but not in a rushed manner, which we really appreciated.

My family was extremely disappointed in our Thanksgiving meal at the Fairmont. What was supposed to be the highlight of our trip to San Francisco, will now be the disaster we joke about for years to come. We were seated at a nice table, but we were not approached by a server for approximately 15 minutes. We were not provided a wine list or water, or even a description of the buffet (do we start now?). When Angel, our server (1st timer?) finally approached us. He just asked, "Oh, did you need something?" I requested a wine list. 5 minutes later he handed me an iPad and walked away. Another 5 minutes and he reappeared, I selected a wine. Yes, another 5 minutes and he brings the bottle. Only to immediately wander off with it to talk to a friend. He opened the bottle on the other side of the room. He came back and started pouring my sister a glass. She pointed to me and ask that I taste it, since I ordered it. He poured me a sip while kind of holding the bottle under his arm. When I said it was fine he poured a glasses for my brother-in-law who wasn't even sitting at the table! Our wine glasses were never refilled through dinner, and we had no opportunity to order a second bottle. Moving on to the buffet. The soup was fantastic. Unfortunately, we were not provided soup spoons. I asked at the carving station, and was told to ask my server. Of course we had very little luck finding Angel. I figured I would use bread for my soup. The advertised offering featured a variety of breads. There was only olive loaf. I hate olives, and they don't go with squash soup anyway. The turkey carver said I could also ask my server for bread. He saw my frustration and took a special trip to my table with sourdough (he was the one high point for service) The turkey and gravy were quite good. Everything else on the buffet was bland or just not good. Also, there was an entire stack of dirty plates to chose from next to the hot options. Dessert.... of course we were not provided utensils, so we just wiped the gravy from our dinner forks. Everything was running low. There were 3 options, but every time I looked there was only a mangled slice of one option left. A new pumpkin pie was brought out. It was quite different from the earlier homemade looking one. Definitely grocery store deli bought and fairly inedible. The kitchen then brought out an apple pie and put it in front of the sign that said pecan pie (which was never there) My brother-in-law took one bite and started laughing. The pie was frozen! The Fairmont is somewhere I ate holiday holiday dinners as a child. Needless to say the illusion is shattered and I won't be returning. We stayed at the Mark Hopkins and had a much better experience with the service there. They will be receiving my business in the future.

The food was good and arrived warm. We had dinner at there only once during our staying; however, the recurring theme of below average service and the lack of excitement from the server was all we could talk about!! Although the food was good, we were looking forward to be done with our dinner and felt more like a nuisance than high paying guests. This restaurant has a beautiful setting and a nice ambiance. The tables were not that close to each other, providing good privacy and it was conducive for conversation. The piano in the background was not too loud either. Lots of good things but mostly over shadowed bad the sub part service. I might consider another visit if I return to the area. Maybe just another off day for the servers??

The quality and prices you expect when in a hotel with no other close-by options. Maybe a little worse than most.

I'd rate Laurel Court Restaurant as our favorite breakfast brunch. The atmosphere is great (hey - it's the Fairmont) and the food is even better. Omelet station, incredible pecan sweet sticky buns, eggs Benedict and scrambled, the other stuff (potatoes, bacon, sausages, ete, etc.)...and an incredible selection of fruit, breads, smoothies, smoked salmon, cereal, wow! Just one word - yum!

I did not think there was a wide selection, and I found the food was barely warm. The bacon was plain cold. I stopped eating after one small plate. My adult son had ordered a latte so I pointed at it and asked the waitress if it was included in the $34.00 charge; she replied that it did. So I ordered one. When we arrived home my husband told me how much the bill was, and that the coffee was $18.00. The next day I complained at the Laurel Court, spoke to a woman in charge whose English was not good, left her a copy of our Visa charges, and my phone #. I never heard back. I would not recommend The Fairmont's Laurel Court for Sunday brunch.

This is a great place for a drink or dinner if you want to relax and enjoy people watching, taking in the lovely architectural details and decor. It is a beautiful setting

I wanted to love it because it’s in the beautiful Fairmont San Fran, but all four mornings we ate breakfast there the hostess made us wait for a table, even though we were hotel guests and we could see empty tables. Once in, the buffet was pretty good. Service was lacking though. I had to stir my tea with my fork because there was no teaspoon one morning. Curses!

Ate here while staying at the hotel. Food is quite pricey and just average (at least what we ordered was nothing special).

great food. the portions are huge. we were just here for breakfast. but we couldn't eat all all our food. i ordered off the menu, but you can also eat the buffet food. the service was good. it wasnt over crowded because the room is huge. its a beautiful room. you dont have order food or a drink here if you're killing time. its nice just sit and look at everything in the room or the lobby while you wait.

It is a nice restaurant inside the Fairmont Hotel the Fairmont Hotel is excellent the restaurant is overpriced for what you get but I must say the food was good, small portions.

We enjoyed a birthday breakfast with my husband and another couple. The ambiance is beautiful, the service was good and food was uneven. My husband's Lemon Ricotta pancakes were outstanding; my tomato omelet was good. The other couple was disappointed with the eggs benedict; the English muffins weren't toasted enough and the eggs were overcooked.

After a long flight, we checked in to our hotel and hoped to get lunch at the Laurel Court. Our waiter was great. He offered us a tasting of wine, and when one bottle was not up to par, he immediately got another bottle. We enjoyed the beautiful surroundings while watching a football game on the television above the bar. When the food was served, it was wonderful. The French onion soup and the grilled cheese sandwich were delicious. The crab sandwich was huge and very good as well. The portions were large.

I popped in and out during my stay in the Hotel. I found the staff welcoming and easy to deal with. The food offering is enjoyable and and wine list showcased California wines.

Obviously the service is intended to be top end here, like the Fairmont Hotel. We had simple items for breakfast. The coffee was good and extra was offered for the road by our attentive server. The oatmeal was ordered and was warm but not hot. It was average. Possibly the buffet was the best food but we had meetings to attend and wanted to order something fast. I could have written more or said more but the temperature of the food is like my rating, luke warm.

The service is excellent. The piano music was lovely. The food was excellent and plentiful. We went at 3 and left at 5. There was an alternative to champagne and a nice selection of teas. But they only give you one pot full of hot water and tea. They don’t have tea cozies and my tea got cold and too strong. It would be nicer if they used a small pot and refreshed the hot water after you poured your cuppa.

We enjoyed dessert and wine last night in The Laurel Court. Perfect place to end the evening. The server was fun and down to earth. The Chianti was delicious. My family enjoyed a few desserts and an "adult" root beer float. They finished every morsel. We will be back.

We enjoyed the buffet breakfast at The Laurel Court Restaurant and Bar! Also we were thrilled with hours of service, open to 11:30 on weekdays and 1:30 on weekends. A great restaurant to get your day off to an amazing start with awesome food, great service, and friendly staff!

I come there often as a local to use it as my home office. However, there have been mice there since January 2025 for the last four months. On top of that the food is at best like a Publix school cafeteria for $30 at a minimumit’s disgusting.

Grossly disappointed by the entire experience. The food was extremely average and grossly overpriced. Not really impressed with any of it. Overpriced hotel food with a fancy atmosphere. The staff was pleasant. I would not bother returning.

Laurel Court is a large, old and beautiful restaurant. My breakfast was excellent: My omelet was first rate, the coffee was very good and service was attentive and quick. This is a great breakfast choice.

Liked our Breakfast Buffet both mornings. Tried the Breakfast Buffet & the Continental Buffet because I wanted to fill up on their wonderful Fresh Fruits, Breads, & Cheese & Meat Selection.

We met friends Saturday afternoon, had drinks and a few snacks. The next morning had a great breakfast before leaving. Good food and service, you can't go wrong here.

On a recent stay we had both lunch and a a late night bite in this restaurant & bar, we were both impressed by the quality and the price. The venue is outstanding as well, you could easily be in Paris, London or Rome, this is a special place to have lunch. They also have a very good selection of scotch whiskies and gins.

If you want a quick bite to eat for breakfast or Brunch and a guest of the Fairmont try Laurel Court. Quick & no line when we arrived mid morning.Great selection of any type of breakfast item you could imagine. $$$pricey but beats a walk up and down the hill and a long wait in line at other cafes downtown. Wish I had a bigger stomach that morning was my only regret.

Service is professional and food is yummy. Juices are fresh and anything on the menu good !! Best part is its inside the Fairmont Hotel

Breakfast in an Elegant Room In May, we stayed at the Fairmont San Francisco, and I had breakfast in the beautiful Laurel Court, Just off of the lobby. Even if I had not been looking forward to breakfast, I would have been looking forward to dining at Laurel Court, because it is just one of the most beautiful rooms, I have dined in - and that includes some very beautiful rooms. On the first morning, I opted for the Eggs Benedict, which were great, while the second, I went the Huevos Rancheros, which I had enjoyed on a previous visit. Again, a hit. While there is a buffet, I am much more interested in ordering off of the menu - I am just not a buffet kind of guy. The service was great, and both friendly and efficient. During the trip, I also go to go to the little bar, in one corner of the Laurel Court with my wife, after she finished her meetings, and before dinner. It was as charming as ever, though the wine list is still a bit thin. For a Fairmont, I would expect a better, deeper wine list, though we managed to make do.

The menu pricing is quite expensive but it it worth it due to the great customer service, in addition to the quality of food. Our drinks were always refilled without asking and the silverware and plates were removed and replaced in between courses. Also, the staff does not try to rush you out. There is plenty of seating and I have never had to make a reservation, even on a weekend.

I live in this neighborhood & don't dine here as we've far too many better restaurants BUT I love meeting at 3 or 4pm for a glass of french bubbly or good wine in this amazing setting. It's like San Francisco's original splendor at the turn of another Century and it's really not to be missed. Service can be slow but with a lovely filled glass you won't mind sitting under the dome and relaxing while waiting for service. The restaurant and bar are under the same dome. As a neighbor I do frequent the weekend breakfast buffet- totally worth the ambience and food is nice ( I said nice, not amazing).

This restaurant is located on the main floor of the Fairmont Hotel. It is an open space, and more like a restaurant to have breakfast in. It does not have the ambiance of fine dining. The service is good overall, and has a little strange continuity of different staff members, serving different items. Our main waiter was friendly, good, and suggested very good dishes. The different plates were presented in an attractive manner. The mixed greens salad was larger, fresh, non distinct, and enjoyed The crab cakes were large, good for two, and delicious. 😋😁 The duck served medium rare was excellent. The scallops were very fresh and the the overall plate was very good. I would have enjoyed a little more California cuisine influence. The desert of fresh berries, ice cream cookies, and a caramel flan was excellent and a yummy close. The main plates were truly enjoyed and had very good and more subtle flavors. It reminded me of Parisian cuisine. My girlfriend really enjoyed the dinner. 😋😬😁 I would not consider it a date night restaurant. It feels more like the hotel's breakfast restaurant -as I already stated. Very fresh ingredients and a talented chef made it a good experience.

The buffet at the Fairmont is worth the $36 per person. Two Eggs Benedict, 2 sausages, 5 bacon, fresh raspberries/blue berries and black berries and 2 sticky rolls loaded with pecans was my breakfast and fresh OJ. The only problem is they didn't have the seating capacity for the holiday rush. They needed more waiters to clear off the empty tables.

Service was pleasant and professional although a tad slow (but they were busy). Food was very tasty, the Carbonara was very good. Everyone else in our party said their food was very good as well. Dining room was very nice, kind of an ornate french vibe.

Elegant space with nice service. This doubles as the bar but is not set up well. The bar is small and the tables also serve as dining table during meals so it does not flow well. The breakfast buffet was nice but nothing special and not worth the $35

Beautiful location inside the Fairmont in SF! The food tasted great—we had various appetizers and for our main meals it was burgers and the ravioli. Everyone at our table ordered adult beverages and enjoyed them, too. They need to improve on reservation system. You can not make a reservation online for more than 6 people in your party so I followed the directions and called to set up a reservation for our party of 8. The person on the phone said they couldn’t take our reservation. I asked why and he said that I would just have to arrive and get placed on the list. Then what’s the use for reservations? We had 2 children in our group and we didn’t want to risk being on a wait for a long time. When we arrived at Laurel, asked to seat our party of 8 (Resturant was less than half full) and the hostess had to ask permission by her manager to seat us. Again was told NO, our party was too big and we had to wait 1-hr because “the kitchen is busy.” We got placed on the list BUT then they sat the next 4-6 families (groups of 3-4 each) immediately after us with NO reservation. I asked the hostess again, if the kitchen is so busy why did she seat the next groups?? She said because her manager said it was okay. It gets better….our party was now decreased from 8 to 4—asked to be sat and was told again she had to check with her manager???? At this point I thought is this personal? We got sat after I questioned this illogical reasoning. Not sure it was worth all this frustration. If we didn’t have local family that went through the trouble to meet us for dinner, we would have walked away.

Nice menu of local produce. GF options available. We ordered oysters but they had run out and quickly substituted it with a fantastic tuna tartare and warm corn chips. The staff are very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

We stopped by to grab a burger and beer one night and it was seriously painful trying to order. We had to wait and when the waiter finally came he looked like he would rather be doing anything else than serving us. The food was decent...nothing special but really it's just a burger so not expecting a lot. However- I watched as the waiter wandered around and sat and talked to the bartender while I would have appreciated ordering another drink. I would not expect this kind of service from the Fairmont. Normally their service is on point. Mentioned this experience to the desk clerk but never got a response from management. Forget this place and head to Top of The Mark- the drinks and service up there was fantastic!

Atmosphere is pleasant. I enjoyed the build an omelet bar, the selections for toppings for oatmeal and the fresh fruit. We also ordered French toast off the a la carte menu and it was tasteless. We could not eat it. We had the buffet at $38 per person, plus the French toast and a couple other items off the regular menu. They place a 15% service fee on top of the bill for asking for gratuity so check your bill. Rating is based on the French toast (barely a 1) offset by the omelet and fruit (4), with the built in service fee taken into account.

If the walls could talk in here.. this atmosphere is luxurious elegance... Just to sit where so many famous people in history did discussing changes which we already know of.. truly captivating.. this is a must stop.. The ceiling is incredible!

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Tasted a bit of the many fresh fruits, juices, breads, pastries, etc. etc. My appetite well satisfied for most of the day. Very affordable for the quality.

I was a guest at The Fairmont and first off, the Fairmont is the best place ever!!! The bar was wonderful! I brought my own cocktail recipes and they made them just the way I like them--there were expert bartenders there. Great selection of spirits and cocktail bar menu offerings. I highly recommend the place not just for the great cocktails but for the beautiful bar setting and it being located inside one of SAN FRANCISCO'S most beautiful properties. A MUST-SEE!!! Go there end you will not be disappointed!

As a hotel guest I ate breakfast and had the bar food here and neither the food or service are impressive - with the prices being charged it would be expected there was good quality control on the food and it just doesn't happen . Hard scrambled eggs on the breakfast buffet straight after it opens , no top ups offered on coffee without attracting attention , al a carte breakfast does not include a free coffee , no water offered unless asked for , duck hash just over the edge towards burnt on the bottom. The guy on the omelette station is the one shining light in the whole operation - but it's just omelette - no fried or poached egg option . Mid week ,early am , the place was not busy so excessive customers are not a valid excuse . Bar meal was very average- burger patty was good but the accompanying salad was literally swimming in dressing and inedible. If this was a chain restaurant with ensuing lower prices I could almost forgive but at Fairmont prices it's not acceptable

A beautiful setting, in the lobby of the beautiful, classic Fairmont Hotel. Service was spotty and inattentive. The tuna tartare appetizer was outstanding but the chicken and lentils were dry and over cooked. For the price, you would hope for better.

Very impressive bar with great service. They don't build them like this any more, so you definitely want to visit.

We stepped in around 11 am to have the breakfast while waiting for the room to get ready. A staggering $35 usd per head. The food was good and they gave you all the coffee and juice you could drink. An expensive but good option if you just want easy.

Beautiful old room with nice atmosphere for a long lunch. Our server was especially friendly. The food is expensive and not memorable.

My husband and I stopped here for a quick meal before the show we were seeing. My husband had the cioppino, and I had the chicken breast - both were EXCELLENT. The cioppino was so fresh, light, flavorful, and all the seafood was perfectly cooked, and seasoned, my husband was very happy with his choice. The chicken breast dish I got was also quite tasty - perfectly cooked chicken, juicy, lots of flavor, accompanied by some tender, tasty potatoes. I would definitely eat here again, and recommend it to everyone I know!

Be sure to stop at the omelet station where you can get a custom creation or a fresh waffle where they make four (approx. 4" waffles) a refreshing change from the ones prepared and under a heat lamp. The little container of maple syrup will top it off. Also. they have the usual buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, bread, pastries, etc.

The location of Laurel Court in the Fairmont hotel exudes luxury and service. Unfortunately we didn't experience this. The tables were dirty, service was not prompt and it was impossible to get the attention of the waiter. Unfortunately it was the food that proved to be the least impressive. The sliders were tiny and dry with a $16 price tag

Ate at the Laurel Court in the Fairmont Hotel and was very disappointed. The ambiance cannot be beat; but the food left a lot to be desired! The waiter was very friendly and efficient; but the food was subpar.

My wife and i did our research the months leading up to Christmas. We selected the Fairmont Hotel for our Christmas day lunch based on reputation and the way it was promoted online. We were looking forward to celebrating after the long journey from Australia. Based upon the high cost of the Christmas day lunch we had expectations that it would be a special event. The Laurel Court restaurant missed the mark in so many ways. First impressions. We were shown to a table in the large dining area. Thankfully this was some distance from the bar and giant TV showing a football game ( Christmas atmosphere ?). The tables were not set in any special way. In fact they werent set at all. No table cloth and a strange assortment of breakfast preserves ! Did anyone from management view the layout of this room and seriously think it appropriate for an expensive Christmas lunch ? It was a typical corporate hotel setting.Clearly the Fairmont decided that they wouldnt bother making anything look special. We observed other diners looking disappointed at this. The buffet was a jumble of random food. Once again, the Fairmont appeared to have taken the approach that ' we have a captive audience..they have paid a lot..lets dish up anything we have available". Some examples of this - there were the typical pots of food you find available at any hotel breakfast ( and i remind you this is a special Christmas lunch!) . These included eggs, bacon, even an egg station preparing omelettes ! why this was presented as a christmas lunch was beyond us . There was a pot full of steak which remained over a low heat, effectively ensuring it was so overcooked as to be inedible. The same can be said for the sorry little pile of salmon. Once again so terribly overcooked. We resorted to eating the only items that suggested festivities ( although probably more suited to thanks giving than christmas), these being the turkey followed by the pumpkin pie. We did ask for some bread and were directed to a display of a few rolls stacked on a nearby table. The service throughout the meal was exactly as you experience at a large corporate hotel breakfast. Neither engaging or anything special. Management of the Fairmont need to seriously look at their operation. To promote yourself as delivering a special event for christmas and charging so much...you really need to offer something that is more than your regular sub standard corporate hotel buffet. Such a huge failing and a big disappointment.

Our high tea experience over Labor Day weekend was extremely enjoyable and the Laurel Court is stunning! In my experience with teas across the world, the sandwiches were slightly lacking but the scones and pastries were fantastic...hence the 4 star rating instead of a 5. Would definitely return, though!

A little European, a little Ernest Hemingway, a little Tommy Bahama. A great spot for a nightcap, much more light & airy than the Tonga Room upstairs. The only negative is service can be a bit slow. Still worth a visit.

We ate here for my husband's birthday. Everything was excellent - the food, the service, the drinks. The atmosphere felt a bit "stuffy" for our taste at first, but the food and service was so amazing it did not matter if the atmosphere was not as casual as we typically like. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was amazing. I then had the duck which was perfectly cooked and my husband had the rib eye which he said was as good as any steak he ever had. For sides we had the baby artichokes and the crab mac and cheese which were both excellent. In fact, I didn't know artichokes could be that good. This was not a cheap meal by any means even using a Travelzoo voucher that I had purchased. However, it was well worth it.

The Laurel Court Restaurant in the Fairmont Hotel is a beautiful space with a classic feel that is both warm and inviting. The iconic architecture adds beautiful ambiance to the dining experience. The food is good but simple. The portions are generous and tastes are exquisite. The Hamburger for lunch is comparable to a good specialty burger restaurant, The turkey club is very tasty and the fish tacos, which come in three, are very moist and tender. My only complaint would be that the fries were somewhat cold and soggy. The service does great justice to the Great Fairmont name as the host/hostess are very friendly, greeting you with a smile at all times and the servers are very attentive checking on you quite often without interfering in conversation. A wonderful restaurant for special occasions or just to enjoy the classic dining experience.

I has a drink at the bar at Laurel Court. It's a pleasant setting and the bar tenders seemed knowledgeable. I was there on a Friday night and they were quite busy.

This is a busy place for drinks and snacks, but once we flagged down the waitress it was nice to sit and talk. After learning that they had "High tea", I would have loved to stay here one more day, but alas this was our last night. Next time....

My daughter and I spent the weekend in San Francisco and decided to have dinner at the Laurel Court and Restaurant & Bar. Best decision we could have made. Service was fabulous and the food delicious. The crab macaroni and cheese was amazing!!! We'd go back just for that!

One of the Best Breakfast Buffet's in the Country. With made to order Omelets, fresh Orange juice and fresh roasted and brewed coffee. Even if you don't stay there, it is worth while having Breakfast or High Tea there any day you are in San Francisco.

Its always a great place to meet business colleagues after a full day of activities. A great range of McCallan Scotch and a great Hot Chocolate after to warm up.

We were guests at The Fairmont, and were disappointed by the Laurel Court Restaurant and Bar. On our first night, we invited a friend over for drinks, only to be treated poorly. The host area is undefined, so we sat at a table only to be given dirty looks by the waiter. I asked for a menu, which I received, but no one returned to take an order. We ended up going across the street. The next day we tried again for brunch. We actually had to eat in with a standard poodle in the restaurant, barking. A fake service dog with no jacket got priority over paying guests at The Fairmont. Other diners were equally annoyed, but the dog got a prime spot next to the buffet table. Isn't that against the law, too? This place detracts greatly from The Fairmont experience. Next time I will make other plans for dining...it is below par.

Served a delicious high tea by Rommy yesterday. Celebrating a birthday my girlfriend's and I donned our fascinators and danced into The Fairmont! Our service was spectacular, the tea sandwiches yummy, scones tasty and desserts a treat. This lovely remodeled room was a perfect setting for an afternoon of friendship!

We ate breakfast here in connection with a stay at the hotel. The order was pretty standard, eggs, bacon, etc. It was all well cooked, fresh and delicious. The price was not inexpensive, but given the setting and the attentive service it seemed quite reasonable.

Had a Pleasant lunch here. The food was better than average but not expensive either, compared to other restaurants in this area. The wait staff is efficient and fairly well trained. The Menu was well rounded with many different fairs to choose from but not overly loaded with too many choices. If you are staying in the hotel a perfect place for a quick sit down lunch or dinner. Definitley worth being a part of this historic dining experience.

My wife and I stayed at Fairmont during our visit to San Francisco, so we decided to have afternoon tea here at this restaurant on our 2nd day. We should have known something is not right when we walked in and the whole place was empty except for 2 table. The guy at the front were rude and act important, saying he has to check to see if they can accommodate us as we didn't have any reservation. The food was MEDIOCRE (sorry I have to use capital to highlight my message), and total cost for 2 of us was $170. They simply throw a few sandwiches together, some cakes and put on some decorations..and declared it a "special Troll theme" afternoon tea (please refer to the photos), hence justified the exorbitant price. When we came and query for the afternoon tea, we specificaly asked about the usual afternoon tea that Fairmont normally put on and quite well known for. The extremely rude person that I mentioned earlier purposely deceived us by not mentioning about the "special Troll theme" they have on and the associated cost. We were so unhappy with it that we made a complain to someone in suit name Brian (which I presumed to be the floor manager), and he was "seem" to be apologetic and offered us to come back for dinner so that they can make up for the bad experience we have with the afternoon tea. When we turned up later in the day for dinner, NO ONE know about our reservation and Brian was no where to be seen. We were left standing there like a complete idiots, as they just simply said they have no reservation for us, and there was no handover of any sort of Brian. With the bad food we expereienced earlier in the day, and the extreme lack of professionalism by all members of this restaurant, we decided to better not take our chances and headed elsewhere for dinner instead. IF YOU ARE READING THIS REVIEW, I STRONGLY URGE YOU NOT TO EVEN TRY THIS PLACE FOR ANY OCCASION. I am extremely disappointed at this place, that I actually felt bitter about the whole experience and it partially ruin my stay at Fairmont. The front desk manager of this hotel (Maggie) also gave me a "lip service" experience, promised to come back to me within a day after my complain...and up until today, after checked out the hotel for the whole week we still have not heard anything back from Maggie and/or the hotel management.

This restaurant serves fabulous food at reasonable prices considering that one is eating at a luxury hotel. They also have an area for quiet business meetings and a drink.

Located in the Fairmont hotel. Wide selection of treats on a large buffet. Or order from the menu. This is a rather large venue with too little wait staff. Be prepared to wait for coffee and if ordering from menu for your meal to arrive.

As part of the AMEX Platinum Card reservation, we had breakfast every day. The buffet is huge and has many choices from fruit to omelets and everything in between. For a buffet, the hot items really do stay hot. The fruit is very fresh and the breads are obviously bake in house.

We went for breakfast and were really underwhelmed. Having eaten here before and having had a great experience, we were shocked at how much it has gone downhill. The service was super slow. It took 30 minutes for our food to arrive. When it arrived it was lukewarm and disappointing. The food was overpriced for the offering. The American breakfast only came with bacon or sausage. You had to pay $12 for two sausages (which were listed as breakfast meats). The French toast with fruit had the equivalent of two strawberries. At $27 I expected more. A selection of pastries” meant one croissant or pain au chocolat for $10. I would not recommend this at all.

Great selections from the buffet tables. Great service. Affordable price. Make sure you come hungry and you will not be disappointed.

I treated myself to a very nice lunch at the Laurel Court Restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel In San Francisco I enjoyed an apple walnut salad with ahi tuna Service was delightful. I enjoyed green tea hot tea with my meal. The room is beautiful.

For my daughter's 10th Birthday, I made reservations for Holiday High Tea. Due to the large party (12 of us total - 5 kids and 7 adults) I had to sign a contract and put my credit card down for the reservation. The Fairmont was done up wonderfully for Christmas. The tree in the middle of the lobby was gorgeous. The Gingerbread House was neat. Kind of weird and gross at the same time. People were actually taking bits off of it and eating it. But I digress... The overall experience was amazing. Other than a couple service issues, it was magical, even for the grownups. The Fairmont really knows how to do an amazing Holiday Tea. We arrived and were seated promptly. We had free flowing champagne. The children had sparkling apple cider in champagne glasses. The children were given Gingerbread Men to decorate with frosting and candy. A little bit later, an Elf came in to do magic tricks and hand out Christmas ornaments. Following that Elf, another came in to do Balloon Animals for the children. Other than picking out your specific tea, it's a set menu. The champagne kept flowing. The tea was great, and so was the food. I really can't say enough about the cucumber sandwich they provided during tea. Actually all of it was amazing. The children received a children's version of the sandwiches and Hot Chocolate. Even their sandwiches were great. There were a couple of times we needed our waiter (to clear the table) and we just couldn't find him and we had a hard time getting anyone's attention. But if that was the worst of the day, then it was a good day. Overall Laurel Court is beautifully appointed, especially around the holidays. I'm going to make Holiday High Tea a tradition going forward. And I'd like to visit Laurel Court for a cocktail or two.

I booked this as a treat for my husband and I at the start of our honeymoon en route to New Zealand. To start with the positives, the venue was lovely as was the gingerbread house in the hotel reception but sadly the positives end there. We were the last sitting (3:30pm) and you could tell - the place was very untidy with tables piled up with dishes and left overs and food on the floor. We also had to wait 30 minutes before we were served drinks - the restaurant was not actually very busy but was still woefully under-staffed. The 'holiday tea' had very little to do with the festive season other than the décor at the venue. We had expected the food to have a festive theme for example the desserts being focus around cinnamon, ginger and orange flavours - but again we were disappointed. The only thing different to an average afternoon tea was a slightly spiced scone. Finally the price is extortionate for what you actually get. It was not much cheaper than the Christmas Day buffet at the Palace Hotel (which is a huge all you can eat feast with many many foods to choose from and free flowing bubbly). If you want to try an afternoon tea at a Fairmont, I would whole heartedly recommend Singapore (where we went on the way back, though we almost cancelled after our experience in SF!). It was absolutely beautiful, delicious and at 1/5th of the price, it was the best afternoon tea I have ever had complete with amazing service. It's amazing that two hotels of the same brand could be so far apart.

Very good quality food and cocktails. Friendly staff. Fair prices for quality and location. Good for breakfast, lunch bar food and cocktails.

Traditional off lobby bar in beautiful surroundings. It's a bit small (bar) but plenty of smaller tables. Friendly efficient service by well trained staff. The bartender was at the top of his game and well the price. Stop in and have a drink

Liked this hang a lot. Big open atmosphere and whether you are in the hotel or not, you will feel nod comfort here before or after your evening begins or ends. Old school feel, classic lounge and fair prices. It feels very elegant in this space.

The restaurant itself is beautiful but service and food are thoroughly disappointing. Six of us dined on a Sunday evening and the place was about 60% capacity. It was obvious that they were severely understaffed as the waitstaff and others were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. As a result, customer service suffered and was basically non-existent. Out waitress rushed through our order, did not refill the bread basket, disappeared for a long time and didn't seem to care about us. The food took a very long time to arrive that the people at my table seemed to have ran out of things to talk about. It was awkward and embarrassing. I had the cioppino and two of my friends had the pork dish. The cioppino was too salty and flavor was far too basic. The pork dish was dry and bland. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Choose the menu, the continental breakfast or the full buffet with omelettes, etc. Great smokes salmon, fresh fruits, oatmeal & homemade granola. You will return
Good Breakfast
Breakfast was good, two eggs, potatoes, bacon, toast and pastry also ordered. I like that coffee was delivered in a large carafe so really good value there. Beautiful decor and comfy chairs make this a great spot. We also had attentive service which was very nice.
