Disappointing Breakfast

By Don H |

A new restaurant located in the J.W. Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live. We were impressed that the chef/ owner was Benjamin Ford, son of actor Harrison Ford, so we thought we would try it for breakfast. It was a Saturday so a breakfast buffet was available. One look however and it was obvious it was nothing out of the ordinary, Scrambled eggs, limp bacon and overcooked potatoes. So we decided to skip and order off the menu. My spouse selected the Huevos Rancheros which she advised were somewhat flavorful. I selected the Smoked Beef Brisket Hash which was underwhelming. The meat was tough and the potatoes limp. A side of bread was apparently extra. Our server did provide excellent service which was a positive. In all fairness again this was breakfast so we would love to sample the fare at dinner on our next trip to provide a comparison.

Good food and not ridiculously overpriced

By Todieinparis |

Had several meals here during our stay for the Grammys. The food was good - I did expect it to be exceptional after the reviews - it was good but mostly convenient.

Early Dinner

By Trent B |

Having just checked in to the JW Marriott Live after a long trip - we decided on the easy option of the in-house Filling Station and were not disappointed. Roast Chicken and Beef Cheeks were the chosen mains and a shared desert of marshmallow icecream, marscarpone cream and candied bacon was beckoning. Gin selection and wines on offer were more than ample to make it a great night. Service was very good and pricing was reasonable all things considered. Will be going back for sure. Perfect before a Lakers game at Staples.

Average

By DrMarvinCarter |

A very average hotel lobby restaurant. Zero management attention, it is just left to sort of hobble along on its own. Below average quality meat lacking taste. Better to get out and about, skip this overpriced, though convenient facility.

good menu

By NewYorkJack99 |

we ate here, food was very good and service was even better

Creative food, but overpriced

By Eric R |

I stayed at the JW Marriott for a conference and had two meals in this restaurant. The restaurant was very convenient, but in my opinion, overpriced. In particular, I was amazed to be charged $26 for a hot breakfast buffet. Since I don't travel frequently for work, it's possible that this is the going-rate for breakfast buffets at high-end hotels, but it still seemed a lot to pay for scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit. A colleague and I had lunch here during our visit. My lunch was a creative chicken dish. I didn't pick up the tab for lunch and do not recall the menu price for my order, though I recall that lunch prices were not cheap. Convenient if you're staying in the LA Live area, but not worth it otherwise.

Great food and great service!

By James M |

We utilized this restaurant every day (mostly twice a day) for 6 days and enjoyed every meal there. The menu can seem a little bit limited but the food was delicious. But the wait staff is also a shining star--every single person worked to make the meal an enjoyable one and then went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed--bottles of water for our conference meetings, etc.

faith restored in great service

By bear2336 |

I celebrated a special occasion with my wife at this restaurant and I came out with a huge smile. The burger was great, simple but yet very tasty. The hostess, sorry to of missed her name passed along the special occasion to Carolyn our server who took great care of us. Carolyn was simply engaging and professional. The service and the food and drink made it a special night to remember.

Drinks Between Flights

By Yog-Sothoth |

Paused at LAX on the way to Kona from SF. I see that we had a total of five drinks, served by the friendly bartender. I also see a bar bill of $70, so they aren't giving it away.

Great apps, Great Cocktails

By GingersReview |

We were staying at the JW and wanted to grab a cocktail and a bite to eat. It was mid-day and the bar was not crowded... in fact we were the only ones there are the time. Our waitress was very good; however the bartender took so long to make our drinks (I think he was looking at how to make them from a 'cheat sheet') We ordered cocktails from their menu 'on the wall' (photo included in review). The drinks were very good, with an unusual blend of alcohol and mixers we appreciated the mixology of the recipes. Now onto food - very flavorful!!! We ordered their duck taquitos and sopas. I would have ordered more but we shared those dishes and they were very filling. (photos included) If your going down to LA Live or staying at the JW Marriott, give them a try. There are alot of other places in LA Live, but dont overlook this place.

Amazing meal

By Esin916 |

Went for dinner with coworkers after a long convention day. The 6 of us all agreed, one of the best meals we've ever had. My salmon was cooked to perfection, and paired with an excellent wine. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was trendy and fun. I would return for sure.

I will be back!

By Nicholas Hammer |

I've been here 3 times and every time I have had a meal there it had extraordinary. And since they change their menu seasonally I have always tried something new every time I went. It's a lovely atmosphere and servers are attentive but not annoying. It's my favorite place to go to when I'm in LA

Excellent Breakfast

By Ellen B |

This spacious restaurant in the lobby of the JW Marriott Hotel next to LA Live downtown offers an excellent and expansive buffet breakfast for $29.00 a person. The chef is the son of actor Harrison Ford. You can custom order your eggs at no extra cost, and have them a la carte or as part of the buffet. I enjoyed the most delicious omelet I’ve had in ages. Friendly and attentive service. An excellent location for a business breakfast on your way to the LA Convention Center, or just to have breakfast with friends.

Leave me alone!

By ChicagoJayne |

Now that I have your attention - I love a restaurant that treats me well but also leaves me alone - and that has good food. I unexpectedly had a fabulous dining experience tonight at Ford's Filling Station at the JW Marriott. Seriously - would never have guessed I could have had a meal of this caliber. I knew somebody with a brain was behind this menu when I saw that they had a glass of red wine from Preston a Winery on their menu. If you've never had the pleasure of drinking wine concocted by the mad scientists at Preston (north of Healdsburg), you should check it out. Anyway, went for the smoked pork chop. Extremely high quality meat. Absolutely lovely fresh medley of tiny bits of butternut squash, leaves of fresh Brussels sprouts and parsnips (I think) with a wee bit of puréed mash potatoes to dredge each bit of pork chop through. Yummmmm!,,,, And I'm a food snob from San Francisco, via Chicago. I'm in heaven.

Not worth it

By BKay85 |

I went there for breakfast, and to be blunt, it's over priced and the food isn't that great. I ended up paying $8 for a bowl of watery sludge they tried to pass off as oatmeal. And $6 for coffee? Never again.

No complaints

By Bugs1012 |

There's nothing special about LA Market. It's a large hotel restaurant with a quirky menu. The food is ok, the service is friendly. But there are several better restaurants in the area. No complaints, but don't go out of your way to eat here.

Breakfast was yummy!

By Jay Q |

They had a great buffet and tasty cook to order options (waffles, pancakes and omelettes). The fruit was fresh and they had enough options for one to have a well rounded breakfast. It wasn't just eggs, bacon and sausage. They had smoked salmon, cheese, muffins, etc. Oh and orange juice and coffee were included, which is atypical for many buffets. They also use Sugarman Maple blend for syrup and it was excellent. I will be ordering some of this for my home. It would be helpful if they covered the cream (for coffee) on the table. Having it sit readily available on the table allowed for elements from the air float in.

YUM!

By carabaggott73 |

I joined my husband for his business trip. After the 'meet & greet' at the JW Marriott LA Live spent drinking I found myself in dire need of sustenance. Chris was our server -- he was beyond excellent! Very personable! He understood that I was starving and had the food out in a jiffy! We had a caesar salad and carnitas taquitos. They were both delicious!!

Very good service but few options in the menu

By bncav |

It is a very convenient restaurant for guests at the JW Marriott. Staff is very attentive and efficient and the food quality is good, although not outstanding. Prices are good, considering the area and the "fine" atmosphere they try to create. The downside is the small menu, where you do not have many options (same menu for lunch and dinner).

Great Lunch Stop

By Patricia A |

Great variety of food from around the world. The market of fresh produce, baked goods, and international merchandise for reasonable prices made it even better.

Convenient in the hotel

By cdeen |

The food was ok, not the best in that area, but not bad either. The service was a little slow.

Good good but pricey

By csimmamps |

Located in the Marriott this dinning room has some wonderful menu items, for example, at breakfast they have a smoked brisket hash which was outstanding. Their flat bread pizza was also a standout.

Bacon Wrapped Dates...Enough Said!

By Stephanie P |

Dinner inside of the JW Marriott provides a sexy and swanky experience at this hot spot. The food was delicious, but caution, the plates are small. The variety of drinks on the menu are nice. My favorite takeaway was the bacon wrapped dates - YUM! The service was gracious and extending. The atmosphere is contemporary and the action of LA Live makes for a fun night on the town.

Staff is clueless

By littlebirdy2303 |

In town for the Grammys and this was one of the only restaurants not closed to a private party. Hostess told us there was a 25 minute wait and took our names...when 30 minutes had passed we were told they stopped serving food 10 minutes ago. They reluctantly agreed to seat is anyway and allow us to order drinks & appetizers, not that much of anything was available on the menu. Took them 45 minutes to deliver a cheese plate, forgot about the meatballs until we were ready to leave. Had to get for the check and wait another 15 minutes for the waitress to run the bill. Glad I wasn't staying at the JW hotel, service was subpar for any hotel restaurant, but especially so for this brand.

Nice place to eat

By Berlynblue |

We ate breakfast here while staying at the JW Marriott. It's a nice restaurant, the staff was friendly and the food was good. It's a bit overpriced, but then it's the hotels restaurant and it is LA, so it's expected. I can't say anything bad about it.

Good food - spastic service

By Steve C |

We ate at L.A. Market at the end of a very long day and a 5 hour + plane flight. The food was excellent. All of the meals were completed simultaneously and brought out to the table without delay. Getting to the table was a bit of chore. We were told it would be about a 20-30 min wait. After 40 minutes, I wandered over to check on the status of the list. My name had been lost. We were then quickly seated. The server was attentive, but it seemed to take multiple attempts to get our orders placed. An interesting restaurant to visit, because of it's connection with Hells Kitchen. A good option for people opting not to travel far from the hotel.

Usual Hotel Food

By John M |

Nice location in the hotel lobby.Reasonably attentive service until it got busy. My wife had the strip steak & I opted for the signature dish: meat loaf, Both were dried out ? Good thing I ordered my BBQ sauce on the side it - it was really hot. My spinach salad starter was interesting in that it contained bits of apple--too bad the spinach wasn't really fresh. Excellent selection of wines via ipad; but, really overpriced. Well, it is downtown LA; but, we probably could have done better at one of the many restaurants in LA Live.

Hidden in a Hotel Lobby

By Michael P |

Ford's Filling Station is tucked away in the lobby of JW Marriott Los Angeles at L.A. LIVE. I went there the day after new years for a light dinner with family before the Lakers' game. We ordered a mushroom pizza, two appetizers: lamb abodingas and little bites of hummus and sprouts, and a dessert - the one made with acorn squash and maple sauce - very impressive. The only reason I didn't give this an excellent was because the atmosphere felt like dining in a hotel lobby. I think they could do more to make the dining area feel a little more like a very nice restaurant.

Expensive, but good

By Jacy16 |

Buffet was a bit pricey for the limited selection, but good for picky eaters like my daughter and I. Service could improve a bit..... A bit phoney, as in you could tell they were working for tips

Overpriced and underwhelming

By Stacy H |

My family ate here for the first and last time after a movie nearby. The drinks were fair, including the Manhattan and the Kobayashi. The food was overpriced--higher prices than those listed on the online menu--and not great. The deviled eggs were fine. Tomato soup was good, but the Caesar salad was oddly flavorless. The roast chicken was dry and flavorless, but the sides with it were good. The burger was fatty and not cooked medium as requested. Also, the waiter failed to provide the children's menu to the kid in our party; I looked up the menu online before I could get the waiter's attention. And he added tip to our bill for a party of 6 without pointing it out on the bill that also included a blank for tips. There are much better places to eat in LA Live.

Breadsticks are fabulous

By Betsey G |

Buffet breakfast includes made to order omelette, pancakes, etc. just tell wait staff and they will bring it right to you

Confusing menu, average cuisine

By TravelRitz |

Fords Filling Station at the JW Marriott in LA is in a great location. It does not offer a full menu between meal times, so be cautious off hours as the selection is very limited. The food was just average and the menu was confusing. There did not seem to be a complementary selection of menu items that invites you to select starters, a meal and then dessert. The kitchen seems inconsistent; some items were clearly better prepared than others and some were too salty. The service was pleasant but not what one would expect at this location and price point. It seemed as if the restaurant is open only as an accommodation for hotel guests and not as a destination for diners. If you are hungry, in the area, and want a quick convenient meal, this spot is ok. It is not a restaurant I would seek out for its food, service, or ambiance.

Amazing Pancakes

By Lilmissmalcolm |

I went here for breakfast, and had the most amazing pancakes. They tasted like fresh cake. I wish I lived closer so I could get these more often.

Poor customer service

By DoctorEd711 |

Was there for breakfast and waiter was very impolite and careless Food was cold and buffet trays were pretty empty. The waiter put back in the buffet 2 cream cheeses that were not consumed by other customers. That was disgusting.

Friendly service and delicious wine!

By TrvlngAngyl |

My friends and I stopped in for some appetizers and drinks before watching a movie at a nearby theater. This restaurant has great ambiance, excellent service and delicious wine choices. I was a bit disappointed with the cheddar bacon biscuits that everyone raves about. It just wasn't what I expected after reading several reviews on different sites, but that won't keep me from revisiting Ford's Filling Station. I'll just try different dishes until I find the one I absolutely love.

Loved it!

By Pilar C |

Make your way through the ails, try cheese, candies, kambucha. Don't skip he the eggslut and have a wonderful almond, turmeric macadamia at c&b

Perfect

By Jared-Malia |

We didn't have reservations on a FRIDAY NIGHT, with a LAKERS GAME, but we snuck in at the bar and our accommodating bartender (Jordan) let us order off the dinner menu. Our meal was absolutely perfect. I totally recommend the chicken. It was amazing. Our drinks we made perfectly and the experience was ideal all around.

GOOD FOR LATE NIGHT AND LIGHT FARE

By Cyma K |

Located in the lobby of JW Marriott at LA LIVE. Middle of all the action and the menu is limited but good. The beet salad is delicious. and light.

Great food.

By TonyGal3s |

I tried the burger for dinner which was cooked medium rare as requested. Our server, Chris, did a very good job. The breakfast buffet on Saturday morning was great. Waffles and omelets are cooked to order. Service was very good. Dinner can get loud because of the DJ in the hotel lobby. Not a place for a quiet romantic dinner.

Yummy but pricey

By kgems1 |

Buffet looked ordinary for the price so we ordered off the menu and we were pleased with what we got. Watch for AM sun - there are good & bad tables!

Hotel prices fantastic presentation

By retiredchuck |

Hotel restaurant with a presentation that is outstanding...We enjoyed the breakfast buffet on New year's Day...$$$...

Skip It

By atima |

Limited selection, blah food. Disappointing for a house restaurant at the JW Marriott. The food was very bland. Space is nice and service friendly, but if you're at the JW, take a walk outside and you'll find many better options. Skip this one.

There are better places to eat before going to the Nokia...

By xelajane |

We started with excellent appetizers (peppers and burrata), however, we ran out of bread for the burrata, asked for more, but the special bread for this appetizer never came. We finally received table bread (which was never served to begin with) to finish our appetizer. My friend ordered the meatloaf and I ordered the pasta. Suffice it to say that it was nothing out of the ordinary. The sauce on the meatloaf was extremely sweet. The pasta could have been warmer. Dessert, ordinary and small, not enough to share which is what we did. Caution, do not drink the tap water, ugh! Specialty coffee came with out a saucer and no sugar was offered. We were not asked if we wanted another cocktail....Go elsewhere!

perfect breakfast

By FamilyTraveler0978 |

Great breakfast buffet. We loved the special order pancakes and french toast that we could add to our meal.

A little on the Expensive side

By heumanntouch |

I would first like to say that the service here is excellent, as the whole team seems to work together with each other and there is a management presence here that rivals some of the nicer restaurants I have eaten at. I was surprised as to the freshness of everything, from the free bread they offer (which was fantastic) to the food itself. Now the negative to this is the place is a little on the pricey side (not horrible but not the cheapest place in town) but given the service and the quality of the food I would eat here again. The Breakfast is good but don't think it is worth $25 a person either (buffet price) the freshness and the service are once again outstanding but it doesn't warrant that high of a price tag, luckily for us it was included in our room rate. The presentation of the food items is also very good as everything looks nice coming from the kitchen.

Friendly Place

By Sophie B |

The food selection is limited. The cheesy bacon biscuits are very tasty. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant is located at the JW Marriott.

Convenient, filling

By Kim Y |

Nothing special. We ate there because we were staying at the hotel. Not remarkable and I probably wouldn't return -- there are much more exciting and delicious options nearby.

Breakfast Buffet!!!

By FirstClass001 |

Nice spread for their breakfast buffet. Excellent service and a nice buffet. Made to order waffles, pancakes and omelettes. It's a good deal!

Fantastic

By KiwiPatC |

"Hell's Kitchen" Season 8 winner Nona Sivley is the chef here, you cant fault it for quality or cleanliness.

Very good hotel restaurant

By Grace Carr L |

Conveniently located in the lobby of the JW Marriott at L.A. Live. I had a couple of lunches there - they were very good, although a bit expensive (not surprising for a hotel restaurant). Caesar salad with grilled salmon added was especially yummy.

Hotel restaurant that is very good

By WMC2800 |

Had dinner twice and both times the food was very well presented, extremely tasty and a very fair price for a hotel restaurant.

Fresh and simple menu

By tameia |

My husband and I came here on a Friday. It was not as busy as we would have expected, we tried the blue prawns and the braised octopus. The prawns was ok, but the serving was small if you were to share it as a couple, the octopus was to acidic to my taste. The prime fillet was ok, loved the crispy pork belly, just melts in your mouth! Only it would have been perfect if it was really crispy. Overall, it was great, the service was good. Am not sure if I'll come back for the value though... Too small serving for the price.

I eat here because I heard Harrison Ford's son is the chef

By adac1121 |

It's a good place to eat inside the J W Marriott; we have lots of choices and tried some places in and outside the hotel. I hears the chef is Harrison's son so I gave it a try. The menu is unique and food is good quality.

Breakfast Deal

By BajaD716 |

Booked our room at the Marriott and got the breakfast package. GREAT deal, and excellent meal! Can't wait to return.

We kept going back for more

By Tali90210 |

We loved the chicken noodle soup and the LA Market burger. We also ordered the house and mcgrath salad also fantastic. Everything was superb from the bread basket to the desert. Don't miss this.

Underwhelming hotel breakfast

By campbellc44 |

The breakfast overall was not very exciting taste wise. It was convenient, but we opted not to eat there the second morning. The service was very scarce.

Yum

By Nikolean |

This is a great restaurant located in the lobby of the hotel. Great for people watching

Great breakfast

By JulkaR |

We were staying at the hotel and ate breakfast here every day - were treated wonderfully by the staff! Especially Debbie - thank you! :) The food is very good - super fluffy pancakes, fresh fruit, tasty omelettes, good coffee and fresh juice. Although it's a bit pricey, the quality of the food is worth it.

Loved it!

By Pita75 |

Had breakfast buffet on Sunday. Great variety! $25 per person. You could also order omelletes, pancakes,French toast or waffles and they will make them fresh for you!

service was impeccable

By Canadian1667 |

convenient very good food reasonable prices. Serving staff was extremely polite, helpful. Try any of their specialties.

Excellent Breakfast!

By JumpRiver |

I only ate breakfast here but it was excellent. You can choose from a buffet or order off of the menu. I'm not a huge breakfast buffet person but it was very good. You can order pancakes/french toast separately.

So dissapointed 😔

By Lula B |

We were a party of 5 and none was satisfied with the food, it was good but clearly we have a big expectation about everything and we were so dissapointed, the place was empty and it was dinner time, the only thing that we really enjoy was the creme brulee, but the cheese cake was so weird and awful.

Great experience!

By leoclab |

I dined at this restaurant twice in April for two different business trips. The first experience I enjoyed a small salad with a soup that the waiter recommended. I didn't plan to have the soup, yet he highly recommended it and said it was one of his personal favorites. I will say - the soup did not disappoint! It was excellent and had a little bit of a kick to it. The second time, I shared a salad and a flatbread with one of my co-workers. Both were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant, mostly because of the staff, and the quality of food. A great experience!

Great drinks!

By vacationhappy |

This place is cute and inside of the JW Marriott and the drinks were really amazing. The food is as expected but if you are looking for unique cocktails this is the place!

Awesome food & service

By Shaddick |

I liked everything about this restaurant! Since it was in the hotel, they also provided room service. We had dinner, a dessert and one other night had the "junk food platter" delivered to our room. It was all fantastic!

Amazing fare and service!

By GallagherLaw |

Great lunch and breakfast. Service was superb. Best French toast I have ever had. Great burger also.

Breakfast not that great.

By m2347m |

Breakfast took a long time and it just wasn't good. No flavor on anything we had.

$6 coffee

By FrozenNorth2014 |

Stopped in for breakfast and was promptly seated. I was offered the buffet at a cost of $26... I wasn't that hungry so I decided to go for a smaller meal since it "seemed" to offer everything I wanted anyway: meat, eggs, toast. I had a coffee with breakfast. Now most places will include your coffee with the cost of your breakfast meal... NOT THE LA MARKET. My smaller meal still cost $22 before tax. Way to nickel-and-dime folks! The quality of the food was very good though. The bacon had a nice apple smoked flavour, the eggs were done to order, and the coffee was pretty good (maybe not $6 good) but it was good. The service was also very prompt and friendly.

Very nice burgers

By Jean K |

Ate with a group of eight and the service was impeccable. Nice bar list and fantastic service. Unfortunately, I had no room for dessert but the menu was tempting.

Good food in Hotel based restaurant.

By Don_Kovacs |

Friendly, excellent service. Delicious flatbread pizza, awesome house made burger. Much better than some of the surrounding areas restaurants.

Amazing Throwback Dessert Platter - Be a Kid Again!

By The_Joneses |

We decided to eat at LA Market before a show at the Nokia Theater. It was delicious! We started in the bar with excellent cocktails; probably the best chocolate martini I've ever had - rich and creamy and you could really taste the chocolate. Dinner was great. I had the cheeseburger. It came with crunchy bacon as advertised, and the most amazing balsamic caramelized onions; they were so sweet, you could eat them plain. My husband had the very tender beef tenderloin which he greatly enjoyed. The other members of our party had the BBQ meatloaf (one of the best she's had) and the Margherita pizza. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely; there wasn't a morsel left on any of the plates. (The portions are just right; not too big.) Then came dessert... We ordered the "Junk food Platter" and it didn't disappoint! A magnificent marvel of munchies that takes you right back to being a kid again! The platter came with a huge cone of homemade cotton candy that caused all eyes to turn to our table. The cone was placed in a glass vase that was filled with homemade cracker jack lightly topped with chocolate. Arranged around the platter were two chocolate chip & oatmeal/raisin cookies, "hostess cupcakes", rice-crispy treats, fruit loop treats, coconut "sno-balls", mini brownies, and little glasses of vanilla milkshake. It was a sugarholics dream, for sure! The cotton candy was the star of the platter; super fresh melt-in-your-mouth sugary sweetness. My *only* complaint is that the cookies were "too cooked." I think a glob of uncooked cookie dough would be better! :) I am a dessert aficionado and this was one of the best I've ever had. So unique and fun and just made us all smile. Would definitely go back just for the Junk Food Platter!

Delicious

By hilll05 |

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the JW Marriott at LA Live. It is very convenient for hotel guests. I went for breakfast twice. I also had dinner. The food was good. The hosts and waiters are friendly.

Very tasty and eclectic choices, small portions

By GypsySoulSC |

This was the first place I ate when I arrived in L.A. last time for business. I stayed in the J.W. Marriott, so this was the obvious choice while waiting for my room to be ready. I had the deviled eggs and a salad. My colleague got octopus on grilled bread (can't remember specifics). The service was excellent. The food was very tasty...but the portions were not enough to fill me up. I would recommend ordering multiple things and sharing if you're with an appropriate group of people. I would return due to the quality of the food in spite of the small portions.

Good but expensive and a bit slow

By roadtrekker |

I joined friends who had waited long for their orders to appear. Once on the table, the food was good, well-prepared and a bit creative. The prices were expensive, bit normal for the setting

Great experience

By Jeff_S_Bell |

If you haven't been to the LA Market, set aside a couple of hours on your next trip and make it a priority. It's modern, the food and presentation is always fantastic, and the service is unrivaled.

Good Food

By DrBob-cs |

My wife and I and guest ate here one night while staying at the JW Marriott, the restaurant is in the hotel lobby. Service was good, and the food was fresh and very good. Portions were just right, not over-sized as in many restaurants.

Horrible Service

By greengardener |

A group of us met on a Saturday for lunch. The service was inexcusably awful from start to finish. From no drink orders taken unless we asked, no water glasses refilled, slow in getting the food. The food itself is not very good either. We complained to the manager - we finally got dessert menus when we complained, but still no refills on coffee or water. If in the area go somewhere else.

Great!

By nikkigfoster |

Fast service and great food...worked for me! I only had a wuick breakfast but the buffet looked delish and the service was really good. Would go back!

Gordon Ramsey knows what he is doing!

By DevonDoodle |

I was in town for the LA Marathon and wanted to try out this place because Chef Kerry Simon is the winner of Hell's Kitchen (Gordon Ramsey). I made a reservation for 5:30pm (exactly when service starts), but when we arrived, the hostess told us that they were just getting setup because of a staff meeting running late and that we would have to wait in the lobby and she would get us in a bit, so we sat at the bar area and ordered a cocktail (very overpriced $10 vodka tonic, little vodka lots of tonic). As we waited, people were being seated, no big deal we thought they had a reservation, but the hostess never came back for us...she forgot about us**. Our waiter was David and he was a joy. I had the seared salmon and my husband ordered the lobster pasta. Both were fantastic, cooked to perfection. The bread basket was cold (not sure if that was suppose to be like that), but my husband loved the breads. We also had the tuna appetizer and truffle mac and cheese. Both were delicious. We were seated directly in front of the kitchen, but couldn't see because the back of our table (booth) was too high and blocked our view. Our waiter David was nice enough to take a picture of the Chef Kerry Simon for us** I loved her on the show :) Overall, it was a great experience, the food wasn't overly priced, but the $10 vodka tonic drink I ordered way outrageous! This place is a must if you are in the downtown LA area * I am excited for our next visit.

What a treat.

By KimFabe |

What a treat when we realized our tour stopped off at the LA Market. Wonderful atmosphere. Great selection of "department store, stores, but the place to go to was the old market. Best hot dogs ever "Fritzi Dog" Also bought a great hat from a vendor near the entrance, and I am hard to please.

In the JW Marriott Hotel Varied Menu

By JRFord |

You get something for everyone all day long at this restaurant. We had a buffet breakfast on our stay with cooked to order eggs. Lost of very good OJ and coffee. Great service!

Average!

By sparkster085 |

Was very busy the morning we had breakfast, the wait went quickly, servers didn't pay much attention to our order (ordered orange juice, got coffee, ordered eggs over easy, got sunny side up), they corrected the mistake and food was good!

Just OK

By plymouthtraveler10 |

Went for lunch with 6 others, waiter was really confused when we asked for separate checks. Since this is in the LA Live (business) area you would think that this request was not unheard of. Food was average had a pear and brie sandwich no big deal.

Dined during DineLa week and loved it

By angelinpink01 |

Restaurant decor was very modern and I when I walked in I got the impression that this was a new hotel. Food presentation was apparent and excellently executed. Food items on the DineLa week menu were delicious although some of the portion sizes were small. However, after three courses I was filled. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful when I went during lunch on Sunday morning but there is def romantic or great group gathering vibes.

wonderful dining experience

By Tiffiany_Holmes |

Have wanted to dine at LA Market for a while. It did not disappoint. I would go back again and again if I lived in the area. The food was great and the service was pleasant. I recommend the fresh in season items.

Not A Great Place for Breakfast

By JohnnyOxnard |

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott and with our room rate was free breakfast at LA Market. I thought that was a great since we have not eaten there yet. The place has lots of glass and very airy feeling. When the hostess was about to seat us, it was in front of the glass with the sun baking the table - I asked to be seated somewhere with more shade. I witness many guests asking for the same thing since the sun was blaring and hot. They do not have a huge breakfast menu, about 10 dishes. They also have a buffet. I wanted to something fresh so I ordered the blueberry pancakes. My wife got the banana french toast. The table of 4 women next to us ordered before we sat down, and they got their meals about 10 minutes after us. Overall the restaurant wasn't full, but it seemed too busy for the chefs. Maybe they expect more people to eat the buffet. (which looked rather small for the price). My blueberry pancakes were very large. Almost the size of the whole large plate. They looked good but the taste was very bland. Not very good at all. My wife's banana french toast looked impressive, but again, she stated it was very bland and not much flavor. For those 2 meals and some orange juice and coffee, the meal cost $37.50. So glad I did not have to pay for it. PS: I heard the waitress apologize for the late service several times that morning. Chef Simon needs to take a look at the breakfast and put some energy into it as he does with dinner.

Good food and great location for Staples and Nokia Center

By ChiranujB |

This restaurant is behind the bar, at the back of the hotel which faces Nokia Center. I like the crab and avocado salad which has great combination with grape fruit. The meatloaf is great too.

Average food, overpriced.

By ERFSU82 |

It's a casual restaurant in the lobby of the J.W. Marriott Hotel. If you're staying in the hotel, it's a convenient place to eat. We had breakfast here one morning during our stay. Most of us got the buffet, which had surprisingly few items for the $28 price (and 4 of the kids in our group were charged the full $28 price, even though they each only ate about $5 worth of food). The food was average, and was generally disappointing to our entire group. We actually enjoyed a better buffet with better food across the street during our stay at the Residence Inn, and that buffet was free to guests. Unfortunately, there seemed to be few breakfast places nearby, so we settled for Ford's.

Breakfast - mediocrity

By LAEWorldTraveler |

For the type of property and the prices, the breakfast could have been better. It was a very run-of-the-mill breakfast buffet. Service seems a bit overstretched; it seemed that we needed to ask for basics like coffee refills and the check.

Great Breakfast Spot

By BrissleGirl66 |

Omelettes made to order, great buffet with many choices and super rich hot chocolate. We tried to go to the pantry down the street, but it was a long wait. Headed back to our hotel, walked right in, sat right down and had our choice of delicious breakfast foods pronto. They also had gluten free bread for toast.

Fun place to wander!

Variety of restaurants and shops in downtown location. Easy to walk around from venue to venue.

Should have stayed in Culver City.....

By Chi-Girl |

I love downtown LA - and it is especially fun around the Staples Center because of the great restaurants. After the women's march today, 1-21-17, we had a late breakfast here. This restaurant is in the lounge area of the JW Marriott in DTLA. It feels like your typical Marriott or Hyatt breakfast-lunch area. The waitstaff was great. My breakfast burrito was good, another person loved the skirt steak/potatoes, but our 3rd was told to order the Huevos Rancheros - something she loves - something the waitress said was amazing. It was cold. the first time....it wasn't hot again 20 mins. later. Ridiculous. The waitress took it off the bill, but how could the chefs recook an item very very very very slowly that ended up being cold again? I'm being playful in my title - because when Fords Filling Station was in Culver City it had so much atmosphere. A bar/pub/cool place. We expected something designed better in the Marriott. It looks like any hotel restaurant. My recommendations: up your design/atmosphere so it reflects the name and reputation of Fords Filling Station. 2nd....serve your food hot.

Great for three meals a day!

By Janis P |

Breakfast buffet was excellent, All foods were warm and ready to eat. The eggs were scrambled soft-just the way I like them. You can add pancakes, waffles, french toast, breakfast fajitas, omelets at no extra cost. The service was impeccable.

God Breakfast Spot

By mgtravles |

At a number of meals while staying at the JW Marriott during a recent business trip. Food quality is very good, although service can be hit or miss - In three meals, I had good, bad and passable. Good place for a breakfast meeting, and I think the breakfast bar is a great option for solo travelers.

Turkey Burger Fit For a Dog

By TravelPo11 |

One night my family and I decided to eat at LA Market before a King's hockey game. I ordered a turkey burger with a side of sweet potato fries. I paid $13.00 for the burger alone. It was THE WORST burger I have ever had. It was a dried out patty just like the ones I buy for my dogs. The sweet potato fries had absolutely no flavor. I paid extra for cheese that was dry on the edges. Any chef with one eye would have seen that the dish was a piece of crap. That's what angered me the most. I work hard for my money and the cook knew he was giving me a dog plate and just didn't care. Speaking of not caring, the waiter saw that I had not eaten much on my plate, knew I was disappointed but he couldn't care less. We just did not have time to press the issue. I left hungry but had no time to get any food before the game. I had to settle for a Wetzel Dog at Staples. Even it was better than my dog burger. My husband and my son felt badly but their food wasn't anything to write home about either. We will never eat there again.

Breakfast at its best!

By Farzana770 |

You have to try the hash and potatoes dish for breakfast or huevo ranchero (sp?).....just incredible! Service was very attentive, the hostess was gracious, the manager came by to say hello....the selections overall looked terrific. A definite must-do when you stay at LA LIVE!

excellent but overpriced breakfast

By Memmett |

I had breakfast here 2 mornings and it was excellent. The service staff was friendly, receptive and helpful. I had the granola yogurt parfait and I have to say that it was so good that I had it 2 mornings in a row. I know that I should be expecting to pay LA prices but still, $36 for yogurt parfait, pastry, coffee and juice seemed a bit excessive. However, it was conveniently located in the hotel and the service and food were top notch.

Breakfast was good

By sonriemini |

We had breakfast included in our room. Eggs, pastries, bacon, potatoes, you can also get panckages, waffles, omelettes and fresh fruit. Everything was good and orange juice was really good.

LOUSY! Don't bother going!

By Stefania M |

I want to clarify that I travel with my family to cali every year and it is my first time in this restaurant/hotel. We stayed at the hotel 4 days and went to New Year's brunch. They charged us 95k per person which I said is fine since that's what they charge. The sad thing about this is that we got leftovers from the day before. Ugliest buffet I've ever been to. I ended up only eating waffles as it was the only thing fresh about the buffet. The desserts melted, because they were the same as the buffet on December 31st. The cheeses were saddened by how dark they were of the same, to be all night in the buffet and serve them again the next day diverted them to shame to do that. The broth they had from the previous cold day, I had to ask them if they had at least fresh broth. They scraped the bottom of the pot and gave me pure reheated broth bone. They had no bread in the buffet, literal was all leftovers from the night before. Not enough with that I have to say that the service is terrible, we ordered two coffees and two waters, which arrived after my two daughters had finished the second course of pancakes. Crazy, I don't understand as a hotel that is so recommended and a restaurant of this type are able to book food that has been away for hours at a buffet and charge you the brunch ticket with old food.

Wonder Con

By RobJJ51 |

Ate dinner twice and breakfast twice at this restaurant. Dinner was very good and service was also very good. For breakfast we ordered takeout and it came quickly. Service was also very accommodating to our request. Only real issue is that breakfast is over priced for what you get.

Yummy Food!

By AXO1010 |

I'm a fan of Kerry Simon, so I had to try his restaurant. (Especially since I was staying in the hotel where the restaurant is located.) I had breakfast and lunch there - and both were fantastic.

Awful service and food

By Leapfrogisaac |

This place was awful. From the hostess that said the service will be really slow (should have left) to the waiter who couldn't seem to find any silverware (I found some), this will be a no return place for me. While my meal was served quickly (despite what the hostess told me), the waiter never provided refills of sofa (asked several times) and I needed to ask several times for the bill. Just an awful experience.

Great Experience

By ontariodeb_10 |

Should be on your list of things to visit. Tons of food opportunities and souvenier shopping. Excellent bakeries, chocolate goodies and hot sauce specialty shops, in addition to anything else you could think of. Adjacent to the Grove Shopping which again is very worth while visiting.

Very good Sunday breakfast

By Brian H |

My wife, 7-yr-old daughter and I had a Sunday breakfast here after staying a night at the JW Marriott hotel and attending a Blackhawks-Kings playoff game at Staples Center. For breakfast, LA Market has a $26 buffet (good selection of fruit, scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, etc), but as part of the buffet price you also can order many of the regular menu items (omelettes, french toast, waffles). The kids price for the buffet is $12. Juice and coffee are included. Although a bit more expensive than many breakfast buffets at hotel restaurants, its a good value if you are hungry and want variety. The atmosphere was pleasant, but the service was disappointing. We needed to wait much longer than necessary to place our order and were told several times that "Someone would be with us shortly." Here's an idea: don't pay staff to walk around telling customers that someone will help them shortly. Pay those staff to actually help the customers! The buffet had a nice set-up with items on both sides of an aisle, but things needed to be re-stocked more quickly. The French toast and farmer's omelette we ordered were excellent. Items at the buffet were very good, especially the potatoes, sausage and bacon, which was some of best bacon I'd ever had! There was a good selection of fruit and berries, but nothing great. My wife enjoyed a bagel with lox, brie, and fresh tomato, but when she wanted another, the brie and tomato were nowhere to be found (even after checking 3 times over 30 minutes to see if they were re-stocked).

Waiter tried to pull one over on me

By ILoveMyBicycle |

I ordered the hamburger, medium well...$18, mind you. It comes with a side, so I opted for the Caesar salad. It comes out with a spring mix garden salad, so the waiter takes it back and brings me the same salad back with Caesar dressing on it. "Where's the romaine, I ask?" He replies this is indeed their Caesar salad and trots off. I bite into the burger...raw and bloody. I ask for a manager who agrees they brought me the wrong salad and to her credit, she brought me a Caesar. The second burger was raw as the first. Then I got my bill and they overcharged me. What a mess! I'll never eat there again.

Convenient for breakfast

By athena-fl |

We had breakfast at LA Market twice while we stayed at the JW Marriott. The buffet was way overpriced. We stuck to the menu. Oatmeal was watery and flavorless. Eggs/omelets were good. The potatoes were barely warm and seemed to have been sitting for a while. They must have come off the buffet. The service was good and we liked the atmosphere.

S L O W Service

By Romie_Reno |

3 tables came and went with other serve. Our serve disappeared for 15 mins at a time. Not once got offered a refill and worse yet she was around to ask. Food was ok but over priced for what it is. If wasnt in such a rush would chose else were. I know why they had a bunch of empty tables now.

Great for food and shopping....

A great location for lunch and shopping in a unique, outdoor location. Many choices for eating and there are fun places to shop. We normally go there for the food.

delicious dine la menu

By lamusician |

We went to LA Market for lunch today. It was really delicious but unfortunately it took more than 30 minutes for dessert to arrive. Note: Neither souffles nor any high maintenance desserts were ordered. I couldn't afford a two and a half hour lunch break and had to get back to work... which is why I'm writing this. The meal began well. We were seated immediately, ordered and were served timely. I had the White Corn Soup with Prawn to start and my partner had the Tuna Carpaccio. Both delicious starters! The soup was delicately flavored. The tuna was vibrant and had a seasonal quality to it. For the 2nd course, I had the Salmon dish with Japanese Eggplant in a soy reduction. My friend had the Lamb Loin with Polenta. Both outstanding plates. Well balanced and simply yummy! We were going on and on about how delicious this year's menu was compared to last year's. Then, all of a sudden, no server for about half an hour... We ordered cheesecake and the Sacher cake. I doubt it would have taken that long to plate. Anyway, the cheesecake was super delish but the Sacher, so-so. Overall I enjoyed the inviting spaciousness and modern decor of the dining space, as well as the casual, chic atmosphere. The food was top notch. We will definitely return next dine LA or sooner, but hope to not be kept waiting for dessert again.

Food ok, service fair.

By CaliforniaDaisy |

Food was ok, salad with strawberries was perfect, shrimp dish was poor with overcooked shrimp. On a Friday night place was busy, and understaffed. Breakfast buffet was average, decent choice, service was excellent that morning. Lunch hamburger was big and delicious, salad very good. Large portions. No wow, but decent food, with hit and miss service.

Chic environment and delicious food

By Up4aTrip |

Set at the base of the JW Marriott/Ritz Carlton at LA Live, the restaurant offers a delicious and varied dinner menu. The restaurant is modern, fresh and clean. The service was very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. It is a nice place to celebrate a special event.

WOW

We just stopped by for a quick lunch for our anniversary weekend and our server Andrew was AMAZING..... He was always there when we needed him and the host brought us a nice gift and they were both so generous and kind and the lunch we had was FANTASTIC as well.... Everyone should try this wonderful establishment....

Dinner great.Wine menu great.

Breakfast experience average. Afternoon experience 1500 to 1730 closed. And male staff supervisor with black hair very rude and loved telling guests we are closed.move on.you cannot sit here. This guy loved playing on his cash register.

Fun place to eat - lots of choices

Many ethic foods plus seafood etc. available. Prices reasonable for CA. Lots of seating - fun to wander and choose. Everyone in party can do their own choosing.

Great Breakfast Buffet!

By thatladyDrea |

We had breakfast here several times while staying at the JW Marriot at L.A. Live. The food was great. The wait staff was wonderful and it was an overall good dining experience.

Poor job with breakfast.

By slizzie |

The service was barely okay and the eggs were overdone. You may want to try somewhere else. I will say the booth was very comfortable.

Not impressed

By Susan B |

If you like a little food, fancily prepared, that costs a lot, this is the place for you. Is in the JW Marriot hotel. Prime rib was about $50 and 1/3 was fat. Many other restaurants in the area, go there.

Hotel Restaurant

Ford's Filling Station is a good spot for a quick breakfast, or perhaps lunch, inside the Marriott, connected to the Ritz, during a business conference. The Buffet was complete and the best bet for price. The food was good, but this is a

Best food ever

By alittlebitofskye |

Second visit and it was just as good if not better than the first! Recommend the lamb tagine and the basil sorbet

Fantastic food/Service

By HMRoch |

Staying at the JW Marriott, I headed to this lobby restaurant and enjoyed an incredible crab & shrimp roll in brioche bun. I splurged w/the accompanying fries - some of the best I have ever had! Lunch was so good that I headed back for dinner. Server was equally gracious and the smoked brisket taquitos were amazing. Almond cake while beautifully presented was a tad dry. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Breakfast and Dinner were both good

By Michigancritter |

Did not do the buffet for breakfast and ordered off the menu. Eggs done perfectly and bacon cooked just right. Had the Ford Burger at dinner and also tried the scallops. Both very tasty. Pricey, but expected in a hotel restaurant.

Pleasant Surprise

By jean1Chicago |

Thought restaurant was going to be very casual based on menu offering of meatloaf, etc. Hadn't paid attention it was located in hotel or that chef was food show winner so wasn't expecting such attractive decor and ambience. The burger and spinach salad were absolutely delicious and my companion said his salmon and caesar salad were equally as good. We thought the service was just as good as the food and enjoyed being able to hear each other when conversing. Although I thought the food was a little pricey, this has been my best food experience at LA Live and I look forwarding to returning.

Terrible food

By mccainmom |

Terrible food. Limited menu but good service. Cold atmosphere.

Creative Menu; good food

By Bobbi D |

Ate Sunday brunch (ordered off the menu); the menu was very creative with a variety of diverse options. The bloody Mary was incredible (served with or without bacon).

Decent meal

By boosooo |

Had the shrimp ceviche as an app - delicious, but definitely not entree-portioned! Pork belly was amazing. Loved the fresh vegetables! My sister had the lamb which was well cooked but too heavy for my taste. Portions were large. Wine options were also great. Service was a tad slow though we were there on a weeknight and they were not very busy. We also had to ask for the bread basket that they readily brought out to other people. Which was a good thing because the pretzel bread was amazing!

Good Food. Pleasant. BUT Hotel-Captive Prices and Unprepared for Rush.

By arthotelpatron |

I ate at Fords Filling Station three times over a 4 day conference-stay at the JW Marriott Hotel. First morning we stopped in for breakfast; I'm not a big breakfast eater, but I wanted a little protein, a scrambled egg, to start off my day. The least-expensive item on the breakfast menu is $19 and most breakfast plates are $28. And all the "add ons" like orange juice? They too are hotel-room-service expen$$$ive. At lunch? ...a soda-fountain lemonade was $8.00. (!) One's bill quickly soars. The food is good. Loved my burger. The service friendly. (Though the restaurant got SWAMPED during each and every of the convention-day lunches, made mistakes, food took a LONG time. You'd think they'd have extra staffing for lunches/dinners when the hotel KNOWS they have 1,200 guests looking for food options en masse.) The latte bar across the lobby had better breakfast (oatmeal, yogurt) and lunch (sandwiches, California rolls) options/prices. So, for dinner one night while you're at the hotel? Sure. Good. Off hour times they are much better. And be aware that the whole set-up has a little hostage-price feeling.

Bad service. Blah food. Won't be back

By Sudsy G |

I don't write many bad reviews because I can usually find something good about a place. The service was bad. We had a group with separate checks and they brought the food out as if we were different groups. They lost one item, brought a pizza to make up for it but never owned up to forgetting the order. My sea bass was poorly cooked and lacked flavor. A little salt wouldn't have hurt. JW Marriott should be the best and it didn't live up to those standards at all. I've eaten at nearly every other restaurant at LA Live and they were all better. I won't be back.

Appetizers fro Dinner

By Deborah H |

We stop one night for apps and ordered the flatbread pizza was delish! The tortilla soup best I have ever had.

Hit-or-Miss on Service

By Belasaria |

I had lunch and breakfast here during my stay. Lunch, the service was off. The waiter seemed forgetful in things that he promised me (bread, still water, specific type of salad) but the portabello burger made up for those hitches. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment as well, especially since the buffet was exactly the same as the one offered in the executive lounge, except you could order waffles and omelets.

Service and Food has gone downhill!!

By Trotsee (Andrea) |

I come here at least once a month Bc I live and work in the area but I am not going to come here any longer. The servers are inexperienced. My server didn't bring a tea cup when we ordered tea instead he assumed we'd use the water glasses on table to pour the tea and then when I asked for a tea cup he goes "oh you want to tea cup?!" (Um yes you idiot! - this is the JW Marriott main dining restaurant! Tea is served in a tea cup not in glass) Secondly, I ordered two huevos rancheros which is $8-12 in two other places nearby but I'm okay to pay $20 for it for quality and superb service. The main reason I love it is the fresh cut avocados. But of course the chef didn't put avocados on it! The server didn't even apologized or show sincere apologies So i had to show the Instagram photo of the last time I ordered the meal to show proof that I know how it usually is served. Secondly the enchilada sauce was sour this time and tasted old, which happens when the sauce has been refridgerated for over a week, third I looked to see how much beans was really in between and he two tortilla shells in only in the middle was a small glob! My last complaint is that the chef's special juice is gross tastes like medicine and the server didn't even know what was in it. If ur staying at the hotel- go to Red Mango around the corner - there cold press juice is legitimately cold pressed and fresh. Sadly today Filling station lost a customer who spends on average $1000/yr on food at the restaurant (ME!) Will make sure my entire building knows the place has gone downhill.

Food and servers are excellent. Very expensive to dine there

Duck carnitas and mac & queso for the win!

By Katherine F |

I was skeptical of this place, being a hotel restaurant, but it was great and I would love to return. I've noted two standout dishes above, but everything I saw looked good. Better atmosphere in the bar section.

worth every penny

By CJSLubbock |

I knew going into this restaurant that I would be paying a lot since it is in the lobby of the JW Marriott. But I wanted something tasty and healthy and LA Market definitely delievered. I ordered the skirt steak salad for lunch. It came with bread and butter, which I wasn't going to eat because of the white flour, but one of the rolls was amazing - it was warm and fresh and the butter just melted into it! I had tap water to drink. So with tax and tip, I spent $23. But you know what? It was worth every penny. The food was so good, fresh, tasty and healthy (well, except for the white roll). I would go back the next time I want to sit down and enjoy a good meal by myself for lunch.

Great Pre Game Meal

By desederata |

My husband and I stopped in at Fords Filling Station for a quick bite before the Lakers game. Fords is a hotel restaurant so we weren't expecting much and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The service was exceptional from the friendly host to our excellent waiter Chris. The food was good, we took Chris's recommendations and had a burger and the crispy chicken with the brisket taquitos as an appetizer. All and all a very nice meal. We really appreciate how nice and friendly the staff was. Thank you!

Very good dining and service; elegant california casual

By MnM1112 |

What a fun and delicious place this is! Everything was scrumptious. And, most plates we're beautiful too. Especially memorable were the prawn and octopus appetizers, the lamb tangine entree, and the chocolate n mango dessert. I rarely order lamb but am so glad I did. The bold flavors of the yogurt sauce and piquant kumquat jam made it superb. We didn't order the junk food dessert tray, which isn't really junk food, but it was fun to see the children of all ages at other tables enjoying that dessert smorgasbord. Great wine selection and a couple dry reds at the lower end made us think they tasted as good as the more expensive bottles. The open/no walls/see- and- be- seen concept works well here. Yep, we'd gladly go again.

Great service

By ntxnightnurse |

We had brunch on Feb 9, We ordered off the menu and everything was very good, but what stood out most was our server Stephanie. Great smile and very efficient- Thanks for adding to a great LA trip!

Ordinary Expensive and Sterile

By budfood |

This restaurant is in the lobby of the Marriot tinLA. And it is exactly what one should expect from a restaurant in a Mariott hotel anywhere in the country. While carrying a semi-celebrity name, the food is ordinary and very expensive. Portions are not generous and the "crispy" chicken served at the table was dark meat chicken without any disclosure as to such. Dinner for 4, with 1 drink each and NO dessert was $235+ with tip. Do yourself a favor and walk a couple of blocks to any number of much better restaurants in the area.

Excellent food and you pay for it.

By Peregringo |

I thought that the prices were a bit high but so is the quality. I had the breakfast buffet (26 dollars) and also dined there on several ocassions -- never disappointed.

Service a bit slow, but I did not exactly press them either. Very good menu of lunch items - both light meals and full meals. I had the Turkey Burger, one of the best I have ever had anywhere. Free wifi here from the Marriott.

Good food but slow service

By Heb2013 |

Went to the location at LAX. We went there for breakfast. WE were seated right away, waited on promptly, received our order in a reasonable time. No one came to refill coffee until we were finished eating, there was no salt and pepper on the table, chairs were dirty. That being said, our breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Waited too long for our check.

Good food and service

Hidden Gem!

By Ron B |

We went to a concert and the only place we could find that could seat us was JW Marriott... turned out great for us! I wasn't expecting much... but I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the thought in preparing the food. We started of with simple edamame, but it was like none I ever had before... it was wok charred with lemon and ginger (I believe). I split the "LA Market Burger" and caesar salad. The burger was fantastic and unique, I would definitely go back for the burger again. The ice tea was freshly brewed, the fries were so tasty that I couldn't stop eating them until they were gone. Two thumbs up!

not just a coffee shop

By NewYorkJack99 |

youd expect a decent coffee shop style restaurant in a hotel lobby. instead you get fine dining and a great menu here. the atmosphere is beyond great too.

Missed by a country mile

By Jim T |

I had a black cloud following me this weekend when it came to dining. After a dreadful meal at Fleming's the night before, our gang of six descended on Ford's Filling Station, located in the JW Marriott hotel. I ordered oatmeal (really quite good), sausages, and sourdough toast. I never received the toast and I sent the sausages back twice because they were cold and underdone. Once, OK, I can see that, but twice? Also, our dishes came in waves, with one person in our party not receiving her dish (pancakes) until nearly 10 minutes after the other dishes arrived. And those dishes arrived piecemeal. The staff was young, obviously inexperienced, and lacked a real service ethic.

A nice resoundably priced restaurant in LA Live.

By Richard V |

Located in the J W Marriott, its an easy place to get decent food. Unfortunately with open walls in the Lobby area, it can get noisy. The restaurant looks good. The food is good and the service very nice. The Deviled Eggs and Bacon rapped Dates were great. The Duck was nice and the Pork Chop very good. Nice wine selection.

Great food, wonderful service at breakfast

By Big Red of Boston |

We went here only because we had a breakfast food credit with JW Marriott. Typically we don't use hotel restaurants. We were pleasantly impressed. The hostess was very nice. Stephanie our server was attentive and went over the top. They have a breakfast buffet for $26 and a la cart menu. We are not big eaters so we split a plate off the menu. Food was very very good.

Breakfast

Very nice place located in JW Marriott LA Live. Good and cozy buffet or carte list as You please. Fast and friendly service. Good experience to have breakfast here.

Had a better than expected dinner

By Sawce |

Had dinner here on a Friday evening with the family (3 kids). Some of us could not find something on the menu that appealed to us. Our server recommend many off the menu items that a few in our party ordered. My 9 year old said that it was one of the best dinners he'd ever had!? ( mac n cheese, edamame). Of course it was more costly than similar restaurants, but one should expect that when dining in the lobby of a luxury hotel.

Good food, friendly staff, too pricey

By Karen M |

Came here for brunch with my husband on a Saturday. I thought the menu was diverse enough, and settled on the huevos racheros, and the cinnamon bun and the cheddar bacon biscuits to share. My husband quickly chose smoke brisket hash. We each had a drink. Our server Jhoana was very sweet. The food was overall very good. The downside was the service was a little slow, the biscuits didn't come out until we'd pretty much finished everything and I suspected they might take them off the bill, but they didn't. Thankfully we took advantage of the free biscuits with check-in through Yelp so that took care of it. The cinnamon bun was cold, and probably should've been warmed up. For $9, actually, I would've like to have been hand fed a warmed up bun on a bear skin rug, but I think the high prices just reflect the location at L.A. Live. Overall a good experience but the price was too high to make a return visit, unfortunately.

3.5 stars. Our meals exceeded already low expectations. The Fords Burger was well cooked and my partner enjoyed the chicken burger. The highlight of the meal, though, was probably the signature Bloody Mary, which was surprisingly good. Not sure we'd come here again, but not bad.

Soooo Goood!!!

We stayed there in the hotel and lunch was fantastic even though it was expensive lol. Definitely would recommend. I can’t wait for dinner!

Nice hotel restaurant

I ate here both for dinner and breakfast while at a work conference. I had the famous burger which was huge and very good. A bit overpriced but I expected that with a hotel restaurant in downtown LA. The breakfast was nice as well. They had a choice of a menu or buffet. My guest had the buffet and said that there was a great selection of offerings. I would likely try it again if I was staying there again but with all the other great options in the same area, it wouldn't be my first choice.

We went to this restaurant with out of town guests this past Wednesday. It wasn't too packed. Menu was a bit small while cocktails and alcohol was many pages. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The power went out in the entire building right when we received our drinks. Given no one had an ETA on power back up and the restaurant told us they couldn't cook hot food without power. With out of town guests, we couldn't just sit there all night waiting for power. So while we didn't get to try the food, we did receive the privilege of paying for our drinks that we could use. Not only was the lack of power difficult to use credit card machine, we had to come up with cash and they had to find change as registers wouldn't open yet. Why the manager wasn't just telling servers to not charge us I have no idea. So while this review can't address the food, it does speak to the service.
