I'll start by saying that this review would not be so positive had Barrett, our server, not gone over and beyond for us. The restaurant lacks ambiance. You may expect from its price point, location, and birdseye view, it would have loads of ambiance but it's too brightly lit, the decor is dated and generally lacks much interest of character. That said, the food is quite good. I had the lamb and he had the braised short ribs. Both were beautifully cooked and presented and these aren't dainty fru-fru dishes. Portions are huge and one is probably enough to share. Unfortunately, they took close to an hour to come out. While we weren't in a rush, we were getting hungry/hangry. Barrett brought out a complimentary creme brulee - we didn't ask for it - which was lovely and he also comped us for the offending dish which caused the delay. We didn't have to make a fuss, we probably wouldn't have anyway, but we also probably would not have considered returning here in the future. To me, great service comes from knowing your guests and pre-empting potential issues which is what Barrett did. We did enjoy the food very much so we plan on returning our next time through.

Good service and a really nice view while eating dinner. The food was quite nice, although my boyfriend's steak was a little rare when he requested medium. It is quite pricey also.

We were staying at the hotel so it's very easy to come for dinner. I was reading other TA reviews & saw it was mentioned there was a travelzoo promotion so we ended up buying it (thanks!). $99 for dinner for 2 isn't bad. With drinks & all you're under $200. I usually don't write pricing but I have a reason. First of all, the restaurant is nicely setup & had great views. There was a singer at the bar & she was really good. The food was really good as well. The lobster bisque was good. The salads were great. The bread basket was tasty. We had filets & they were cooked well & were really good. Now... the reason for 3 stars vs 4 or more. The service! Our waiter was slow, not attentive, poor personality & then the kicker when the bill came. He "pre-wrote" the tip in the tip line. We had the travelzoo deal, so it was a bit confusing in the way he did it... but it was pretty shady. I called him out on it & he looked a but flustered (if I was him I'd maybe pre write the tip too, if I have such poor service). It's too bad, everything else is good but they need to look at their wait staff.

We went here seeing kind of an 80’s throwback revolving bar kind of a feel. The views were spectacular and the service was good. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Steaks and lobster were on point. Yes it was expensive but what in LA isn’t?

Everything here is top notch. I was with a large groups and everyone raved about their meal. The sea bass was particularly tender and well flavored; the Brussels-sprouts and mac-and-cheese were also flavorful and well-seasoned.

I generally feel that the quality of a restaurant is inversely proportional to the height above street level. This contradicts that rule. It is on the 35th floor of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The views are stunning. I was seated promptly. The waitstaff was very knowledgeable and efficient. I ordered the veal chop and it was prepared perfectly, served correctly and promptly. The drinks and wine pours were generous. Not quite a 5-Star but definitely 4.

I don't know how many revolving restaurants I have been to but they all have poor quality food. Chicken sandwich sounded good on the menu but was utterly dry, on dry ciabatta with guacamole out of a bag and no salad or any side. At $17 I expect a LOT better than that. No wonder the place was 90% empty.

I attend an event once a year that books at the Westin Bonventure. All the years I attended I never ate at LA Prime, it was raining and my friend made reservations for 6:30 after reading good reviews. We got to the restaurant at exactly on time, however no hostess. We waited for a good 5 minutes or more before I had to find a waiter to get the hostess. No worries, perhaps a off day for her. We were seated by the wall (not the lovely view tables) but we were two ladies so I expected as much. All the view tables were set up for large parties so I understood besides we still could see the city from where we were. My friends napkin had two hole in it, mine was okay, all of her dishes were warm, not hot. Mine were okay except for the Bernaise sauce which lacked flavor and on a $68.00 steak should have been outstanding. Sometimes restaurants with amazing views do not have amazing food. Our bill for two was $187.00 which I would not complain about if it was a good experience, which it was not. Last time.

Awesome views of the city! It sits at the top level of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Quite expensive but great for a special night out!

Very pleasant restaurant near the top of the Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown LA. Main dining room was under construction which made for small partitioned individual dining areas, which was not at all unpleasant. Wait staff were professional, pleasant, accommodating. Unfortunately had to send a Puligny Montrechet back due to corking, but absolutely no questions asked. Entire menu is very good, and the signature steaks are truly special. Not much to complain about, really, but can't quite give it 5 stars. The rotating bar one floor below is a great way to relax before the meal. Many menu items from LA Prime are also available there, making it a superb place for a meal as well.

Restaurant is like a Mortons, everything is ala carte. We had an appetizer, 2 entrées and some side dishes. No drinks. Entrees start at $42 and up. The bill was over $200 for the two of us.. Food was great. Service was awesome. Just come with money

I had business dinner with 10 customers the other night at LA Prime in Los Angeles and had an outstanding experience. We had a great table location in the restaurant so we could all see the LA skyline and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. One of the greatest assets at the restaurant was our server Norma. She was able to guide me in picking out delicious wines for our table and provide my guests and I with great choices for our meal. Be sure to try the Lobster Bisque, Baby Iceberg Salad, and Bone In Delmonico Rib-eye. You will NOT be disappointed in any of the selections that they have available. I would like to definitely recommend that if you are in Los Angeles and wanting a great meal, do yourself a favor and go to LA Prime on Top of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites.

Great views, nice staff and tender juicy steak. The issues that need improvement: service is really slow and the decor in the restaurant is a little dated but they are currently in rejuvenation stage. Ask for a window view and be prepared for menu sticker shock as to what you get for it.

Wanted to try this restaurant for years. Fabulous view of Los Angeles from the top of the Westin Bonaventure, however I wish we would have just stopped with the revolving bar one stair flight below the non revolving restaurant. Cocktails were top notch with our waitress going out of her way to provide blue cheese stuffed olives for the martinis. Bar has a limited but interesting menu. Upstairs for dinner was not so much. Prime rib excellent but cool, the sides mediocre. Mushrooms inedible, asparagus cold. Service was slow. Waitress disappeared after taking our order. We were about to give up when the bus boys brought our order. Maybe why the sides were cold? With $60 ala carte entrees I would instead head down to Morton's a few blocks away. Go to the bar for cocktails and the view but somewhere else for dinner .

Admission - steak is not my favorite meal. However, the NY Strip steak at LA Prime was delish! (Ate bites off my husband's order.) Cooked to perfection and seasoned (lots of salt) just right. Our friend said his Delmonico steak was also great. I ordered salmon and though it came from the kitchen upside down (??), it was also top quality and cooked almost to perfection. The salad, their version of an iceberg wedge, was fine, but not outstanding. The dressing was thin and the bacon sparse. Sauteed spinach was perfectly cooked. The real standout at this restaurant is the VIEW! Thirty-five stories up gives you a very high perspective on the city and its night lights. Sunset occurs a little early now, but I can imagine that late spring, summer and early fall offer spectacular displays of color with your steak. This is a special occasion restaurant as evidenced by the abundant celebrations going on around us - birthdays, anniversaries. Adds to the fun. Service was great! From the reception and their efforts to offer us the best seats they could, to the wait staff - all excellent. And they should be! Entrees price out around $50. Appetizers average around $15. A glass of wine averages $15+. Overall, a fun and delicious dinner!

Had a great time dining with a beautiful view. Our server was very accommodating to special requests and all the food was delicious.

Have eaten here numerous times, usually as a single diner when staying at the Bonaventure. I like the steaks, the wine list is nice and the view is the great. I usually order the filet and a bottle of red zinfandel which I take the remainder of the wine down to my room for a later time. It is pricey but I find it's value is good for what they are serving and the ambiance. It feels as though they truly cater to me and have no issues with a single diner eating there, but over the years they have gotten used to my request for a quiet banquette away from people and sort've know me and my quirks at this point, but the steaks are good and so is the service.

It should have been a spectacular night with friend: dining on the 35th floor, Los Angeles lit up and twinkling at every turn, spacious tables set up to take advantage of the exceptional view, young and hip waiters at our beck and call. Instead, our evening at LA Prime was a disappointing snooze. The food is beyond overpriced for what you get - in fact it's almost obscene. Main dishes are ala carte and in the $$$$ range. I never mind paying those prices if the food is perfect but in our case nothing was hot, nothing was seasoned - except for the small tub of tapenade that accompanies the bread - and nothing was plated with any particular flare. Our waiter was attentive enough but even he seemed bored. The most energetic part of the evening was also the most annoying. We were seated at a table that seemed to be near the kitchen. Past that was a room where a corporate dinner was being held. There was no door in between the main dining room and that room so we heard every speech, every screech of the microphone, every reverberation of the music. While my dining companions were already downtown, I drove over an hour to get to this restaurant. I wish I had stayed home with an old movie and a pizza. Would love to see LA Prime rethink their menu or attend to its preparation so that something - anything - arrives hot. FYI, if you love lobster bisque skip this one. Narry a shred of lobster was to be found. I'm not even sure they waved a claw over the pot while it cooked.

This is a must visit if you are visiting LA. On the 35th floor, so of course it’s a great choice for dinner. We had the seafood platter appetizer which is offered cold or warm (grilled). Maria was our server. She was pleasant but her product knowledge needs polishing. Will definitely return! The risotto entree was exceptional too!

Had the 14 oz New York Strip which was fantastic. Views are great service is good and as expected price reflects all these things. You want to go up the red tower elevator to the 35th floor. The four elevators have color codes so just remember red.

I recently dined at LA Prime, and although the service is impeccable, I must say that the overall experience does not justify the High Awards. The waiters were both professional and courteous, but unfortunately this does not compensate for the fact that the restaurant is, in my review, overrated. The quality of the cuisine does not match the prices charged, which makes the experience disappointing. In short, LA Prime is certainly far too expensive for what it offers.

We were served by Maria who was one of the best servers we've had in any restaurant. Very attentive, friendly, helpful with a good sense of humor. The center cut filet was amazing and we upsides it to a 10 oz size. The 3 lb lobster poached was excellent, and cooked perfectly as well. We had lobster bisque and the dpfrench onion soup to start and loved both. A very enjoyable evening for sure....with a fantastic view of LA at night.

In this pandemic times, eating in-doors can cause some anxiety, but LA Prime provided a very good venue to enjoy our family's special dinner to celebrate my grandson's christening. We ordered family style, and got the Delmonico Steak, the Fillet Mignon, the shrimp scampi and several sides. Our server was so nice to have portioned our 2 steaks for the 4 people in our group and we ate everything we ordered. it was that good. The cocktails were awesome and the ice cream dessert we shared topped off the night. What great memories. We will surely come back.

This restaurant is located on the 35th floor of the Red Tower in the Bonaventure Hotel, Down Town LA. The service and food are excellent. It is wheelchair accessible, but not the nearest restrooms. I had the Sea food gumbo, and the Ceasar salad. My boyfriend had a steak (which I tried too) it was delicious. The shrimp were HUGE! As the saying says, "you get what you pay for." It came out to about $125 per person with gratuity & one alcoholic drink each.

To have an amazing 360 view is very special regardless what city with are in. LA Prime is that special place in LA where it is good to arrive prior to sunset and just enjoy the views of different parts of the city as the colours of the sky are changing. Weston hotel is surrounded by sky scrapers and the views have best of both worlds: lights from the tall buildings around and lights from residential areas further away from downtown. The food was pricey but good, service was friendly and prompt. The decor can be updated for that setting to make it a truly unforgettable experience and to make want to come back.

Service and food and view - the best! Make sure to visit the lounge for a night cap. Both rotating, offering an amazing panoramic views of LA!

The staff were welcoming and attentive. The views of the city at sunset were unbelievable. And the food was amazing. This is a place for a splurge dinner. You'll be happy you splurged there!

We ate here in late January with a group and the food and service was good. We had salmon which was delicious as were the accompanying items. The bread was yummy. Atmosphere was nice and it was fun to see LA at night from this top floor restaurant! Since we were with a group, our meal was part of the week's expenses and we didn't know the cost, BUT I had a glass of White Zinfandel, usually an inexpensive wine, but, heck, that's what I like, and the price was $16!!!! I questioned the waiter because I couldn't believe it! Another person in the group had a glass of wine that was $21! So go and enjoy it if you can afford it!

My husband and I had dinner here while staying at the hotel, it was the highlight of our trip, first class service, views of the city, great wine selection, food is expensive, but you only live once, very nice menu, highly recommended

This is a great place to have a steak dinner. After attending the LA International Auto Show, I dined here late and enjoyed a New York Strips steak . The hours are very convenient for a person like myself or for the business traveler who needs to eat after a long day of meetings. Also, it would be nice for a couple to have a romantic dinner. I will not go into details regarding the menu because this is subject to change and it can be viewed on their website.

i will not go here again for V-day because its gheto...just look around you who are you going to be seating with...the foods good but the restaurant is not that nice..plain looking restaurant the crowd is the different when you compare Hollywood people to people that live near down town area.

I find myself staying at the Westin in downtown LA frequently for legal work but had never visited LA Prime, the restaurant on the 35th floor. Advertised as a steak and seafood place, I stumbled on a seasonal menu item - the $49 3-course. This was probably the best value in filet+, my goto diner option, in recent memory. Choice of starter, entree and dessert with a surprisingly interesting bread basket. Entrees are assembled, not bare, with appropriate sides. The wine selection is extensive and you can get anything you could imagine by the glass. Service is on point, definitely worth a return trip.

Very nice place overlooking LA, we even had table with Hollywood sign view! We had: center cut filet mignon, primal cut new york strip and the bone-in delmonico ribeye. All steaks we cooked to perfection and the meat was super tasty. The waiter was not 100% dedicated to us, he forgot one of the sauces, and there was a bit of waiting time from starters to entrees. However the view and the quality of the food was excellent, service could have been better when enjoying. +600$ meal for a family of 4.

We visited the Bonaventure last month for dinner and evening cocktails. The service was excellent, but of course the highlight of the evening was the view of downtown Los Angeles from the 34th floor. We arrived just in time for the gorgeous sunset views, before all the city lights came on. After dinner we went one floor up to the revolving cocktail lounge, for an even more unique experience of L.A. Even the elevator ride up is thrilling, since they are on the outside of the building and provide more views of the skyline. With validation, parking was only $7. Definitely recommend it for anyone visiting Los Angeles, or locals like us who enjoy a great view.

We were in town for several days and decided to stay at the Westin. On our third night we decided to give this restaurant a try. I'm a big foodie person and I've experienced great restaurants around the world. My wife and I love a good steak and this restaurant didn't disappoint us. On Thursday, we made reservations for 9:30PM. We were greeted formally by the host and escorted to our booth. A well polished and professional sever came over and introduced himself. His name is Blake. Blake was spot on all night with us and made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant. Blake never ever dropped the ball. He gave us great recommendations and always kept our cocktails coming. We closed the night by Blake giving us directions for our day events on Friday. We were so impressed, that we came back the following night. Now, on this night we had the Sea Bass. It was fantastic. We also had Blake again as our server. And, once again, he was spot on.

We dined at LA Prime/BonaVista Lounge Restaurant on the Sunday night and given the fact the place was nearly empty the service was very slow. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before we got our drinks, the wait staff seemed to be chatting to each other instead of serving the guests, very odd given the fact that the rest of the Westin restaurants within the Westin are so customer oriented. The food was tasty and well prepared, the wine list had a good selection of California wines that we cannot get easily in Canada. The appetizer portion sizes are large and can easily be shared, the main meals are a good size too. I found the views are what you are paying for though, you get to see the entire LA area, all 360 degrees while the restaurant quietly revolves around the red Tower of the Hotel. I imagine this restaurant is buzzing every Friday or Saturday night, not so on a Sunday sadly.

We were recommend this place as a great place to enjoy our first meal in LA as part of our honeymoon. The lifts up to the restaurant were fauna and the place was fitted out smartly with fantastic views of the city. The service was OK and the food was good- though a little underwhelming given the price with a firmly limited choice. We also had to wait an hour between ordering and receiving it- with no apology for delay. We ate far better food and experienced much better service elsewhere. We would recommend going to the bar for a cocktail here if you really want to see the views and eat somewhere more exciting.

So the good point first the steak was perfect, 14 oz New York strip, trimmed well cooked perfectly, season feat and flavourful meat., but this really the minimum for a high end steak restaurant and sadly the rest of the details were lacking. For example I asked for the wine list (which said it was updated in November 2018), it showed an Argentinian Malbec 2012, which I ordered, what arrived was the 2017, that’s not 1 year difference in vintage but half a decade, when I asked why this hadn’t been updated I was just told that’s what they had. Not happy with this I selected a different Malbec listed as a 2011 from piedmont Italy (yes I’m pretty sure Italy doesn’t make Malbec), what it actually was a 2014 Argentinian Malbec! There were wines worth $1000’s on the list, so buyers beware and really check what you a getting, one mistake could be an anomaly but 2 (likely popular) wines just shows something is missing. At the prices being charged, (how you can justify $5 to add few bacon crumbles onto a mac and cheese is beyond me). You just expect a little more attention to detail. Yes the view is amazing, but they make it hard to enjoy, we finished our meal, asked if we were able to take what was left of the wine downstairs, to enjoy the revolving bar. We were told we could not, which seems ridiculous in a hotel run establishment, we would understand if the check couldn’t be transferred, no apology offered. Much like after I gave feedback on the wine list. We eventually decided to go downstairs anyway, (love a good revolving floor), ordered a mojito and a mint julep, what turned up looked identical, which is when alarm bells starting ringing, they were both awful, overlay sweet, the mint julep was served as a long drink, and served fizzy as if someone had put sprite in it, how on earth can you charge $18 for that shambles of a drink. I was losing it at this point, sent it back and just asked for Makers mark on the rocks, what arrived was a glass with enough ice to sink the titanic and splash of whisky, couldnt have been more than an ounce, mine for $12! Again no apologies, no gesture towards the bill. Overall it could have been a great experience, the steak is certainly good enough, but the details, and customer experience is lacking and the cocktails are downright embarrassing.

I was excited to try this place out in my hotel. After my bad experience with the hotel they gave me a voucher for some money off and I thought that would be perfect to try the best dish they have. The view was great, my table sit close to the window where I was able to overlook the downtown lights. The waiter was also very polite and staff was really friendly. I was excited to start my meal, if it was as good as everything to this point I will have the best meal in LA. the menu was very pricey as I dont remember seeing a steak for less than 40 dollars. I told the waiter to give me the best steak, and an ice tea. He explained that the main dish comes with no sides so I also ordered the mushrooms. The tea was individually brewed which I enjoyed and it tasted great, they brought it right out to the table and brewed a small pitcher of it. They also provided you with a mixture of bread, all was really nice. The steak however was not worth the value, I have had much better steaks at a much lower price. The mushrooms also where not the greatest. The food did not impress me at all. I would recommend this for a nice view and a great wait staff however the food is far from the reason I would go back. I understand traveling and staying in a hotel if you eat in the same hotel the prices are always higher than a normal. My bill was 80 plus for one person, if it was not for the voucher from the hotel I would not be very happy with my experience. My initial impression was a 5 star experience however a key part of going out to eat is the enjoying the quality of the food and this is where LA Prime lacked.

A wonderful evening after ariving in LA! Nice View, great staff, perfect food and drinks. Cozy atmosphere, nice music! Thank you!🫶

The chicken was very average and bit small on the serving size. The waitstaff was very helpful and attentive. Good Beer selection and a good selection of West Coast wines.

It's Saturday night in LA. Our business group made reservation for a fabulous dinner as we were leaving in the AM. I made the reservation on my cell phone. I was told a reservation for 4 people @ 730pm would be available to us. We arrived @ 730pm. The couple in front of us appeared upset- seemed they had a reservation- but could not locate it? They ushered the couple to the bar downstairs....It is now my turn... The gentle man takes my name and time and walks away from me-Never comes back!!!! I now go to woman standing @ reservation stand- she denied I ever made reservation!!! I showed her my cell phone with the number- she blows me off- I stood in front of her and called the same number- she picks the phone up and now realizing its me!!! The ushered me down stairs to the BAR!!! We left and open table to Flemings!! Please think about going here. They seem to pick and choose who to eat here... I so hope I am wrong

My wife and I are midway through a week-long work/anniversary trip to LA. Having spent most of the day in conference sessions yesterday, we decided to stay in the hotel (Westin Bonaventure), and the LA Prime was where we chose to eat. The view was GREAT, the service was excellent, and the food was OFF the Charts!!! She had the Free-range chicken and some brussel sprouts, and she said it was the best dinner she had ever eaten out. I had a 24 oz Delmonico, and although I'm a really great chef, it was very close to as good as I can grill. The mushrooms were super as well. To top it off, they brought out a special desert inscribed with Happy Anniversary. What a thoughtful touch! We're checking out in a couple of days, but will remember the LA Prime for a LONG TIME!!!

Our dinner was such a romantic experience. The outside elevator to the 35th floor. Watching the lighted buildings of LA as the room slowly revolved for a panoramic view. I believe the wine and food were wonderful, but I was so overcome with the view, that I'm not sure.

This is a nice restaurant in a nice location that serves nice food, but good Lord was it expensive. $62 for a steak. Seriously. There are virtually no wines under $50, and once you have added a couple of sides you are looking at an eye-watering bill. In fairness my filet mignon was excellent, but it left a slightly ripped-off taste in my mouth.

Was attending a business conference in LA and staying at the Westin so this was convenient. The restaurant is visually pleasing..very high up with a stunning view of the downtown area. The food was good. Very expensive so the food should be great and not just good!

The stake was not bad but I would expect better than this on a restaurant like this. Service was good. Expensive restaurant where you can easily find better places where you get more value for the money.

I recently was at LA PRIME to celebrate our anniversary & was very thrilled to get there on-time and also to have a good steak! Unfortunately, to my surprise the restaurant was much less than what I expected. We were expecting a luxurious restaurant and a higher caliber of guest but as we walked in we began to feel overdressed (evening blazer & shirt), some guests were not only wearing shorts and t-shirts but to top it off some were wearing regular beach sandals which completely ruined the level and category to which LA PRIME sets themselves for. The service was descent, not stellar, our server was attentive but not consistent when the restaurant was not even crowded. The food was ok but not stellar, I've had a better experience at Mastros!

great view, very expensive , very high quality food and staff. Be prepared to pay a down payment on a house but the quality of the food was outstanding. Go and enjoy

This restaurant is hidden away at the top of the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown LA. The restaurant is nicely designed and is known for its steaks. We arrived and were seated on time. I would recommend making a reservation. If you arrive early you can have a cocktail in the Buena Vista Loung. It is a slowly revolving restaurant with bites and cocktails. Our server was amazing as he told us about the menu. He even gave us a few favorites to expereince based upon previous customers and his experience having a meal. The wine list is amazing and something for everyone. My group has cocktails and a couple of bottles of wine while we waited for our meal. They brought a bread basket with many varieties for the table and some butter and tapenade. The salads and the soups were well composed of great ingredients and the perfect size to share as needed. The wedge and the onion soup were great. We also tasted the oysters, pork belly and bone marrow, which were shared with our table. All exceptional. The mains consisted of Filet Mignon and NY Strip. These were tender pieces of meat that were bursting with flavor and the portions were just right to almost too big. the rib eyes were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was the specialty of the house. They come a la carte so we ordered a number of side dishes to share with the table. The side dishes did not disappoint. The mushrooms went well with the steak as did the au gratin potatoes. Another side that was well received was the macaroni and cheese, which was baked to gooeyness. We also had creamed corn which was nothing like the canned variety. The asparagus was another superior accompaniment. We finished the evening with a sampling of desserts which were also well done. Chocolate mousse cake and cheesecake were tasty. This was an amazing experience that was not inexpensive but worth every penny. It would be great for a date night or special occasion, I would come back again .

So I went for my 40th bday and was served a pubic hair in my Caesar salad. Told the GM there was a hair in my salad and was casually asked to leave the property because I was causing a disturbance. Extremely rude rude, horrible service. Would not recommend going. Was even charged for drinks, $200, no comp. Please do not go!!! GM Larry sucks!!!

We decided to stay in the hotel and get steak for dinner. It might be a good restaurant, but in comparison to other steak houses, it really isn’t. We didn’t leave happy. The views are great, no doubt. They seem understaffed, which is a consequence of the market, but you’re not getting charged any less at the same time. Our favorite thing there were the potatoes ironically. The steak was good, not great. The starters didn’t do it for us. The wine selection could be better. Anyways, we tried the restaurant and we know we don’t want to come back. My rating is truly fair and is relative to the competition.

I was a guest of a regular at LA Prime last year and TA reminded me that I failed to complete my review. I recall that it offered a glittering view of Los Angeles at night. It was a nice plus to be away from the dirt, hustle and bustle of the city streets. The meal that we had was very good and the service was flawless. Every course was served with the same serene, professional manner you find at only fine dining eateries. Would I go back? Yes, I would put it on my list of places to dine in LA as it appeared to be a place that would be without surprises and that delivered very good food in a nice setting. Would you want anything more on your evening out?

During a recent trip to the staples center for a concert my wife and I had dinner at this restaurant which is walking distance away. The restaurant and bar are located| on the 34th and 35th floor. Needless to say the view is as good as it gets. The restaurant rotates on a turntable so that you get a panoramic view of the city. The food, the service and the ambiance are all wonderful. The portions are very generous. This is not a cheap place to go to but if you are ok with $200 for cocktails, salad and a filet or seafood dinner this is a very nice place to go when you are in downtown LA

Food was incredible - steak was cooked to perfection. Simply melted in my mouth. All the side dishes were fantastic as well. Service was very good - all together really a wonderful experience.

We got into the hotel very late (11:30) and starving! Sadly the steakhouse restaurant closed at 11:00 and we were directed to the revolving lounge. Got a table by the window. Beautiful evening view. My husband and I both ordered the steak sandwich and was very tasty. The meat was very tender and had lots of flavor. The fries that came with it were also good. I ordered a Mojito and it was perfectly made. The server was attentive and informative about the food choices. Expect to play about 3-4 dollars more for the same thing you would order some place else but it was well worth it. I would have given the overall experience a 5 but the glass elevators and the lower windows needed a bit of cleaning from the outside.

Called today to make reservations, verified with person we were speaking to that this for the restaurant LA Prime. They instead booked us for their lounge. Not quite the same. We left and went elsewhere which was tough on a Saturday night. And we were quests at the hotel mind you.

After a 10-hour delay in Australia we arrived and had missed two flights. Dead tired when we got here I enjoyed a late night American hamburger which I havent had in a while.

This restaurant is on the 35th floor and has an super view of LA, its a two tear affair, on the lower floor its a bar that rotate 360, on the upper level its the restaurant, excellent and attentive service, great food, a bit pricey but worth it.

Portions were large. Tuna tartare was average at best but the crab cakes were very good. Steak was ok.

For my birthday we had the Chef's Dinner at LA Prime on the 35th Floor of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. The Westin Bonaventure Hotel is an architectural icon in Los Angeles, consisting of five glass cylinders in downtown Los Angeles. The view from LA Prime was spectacular. The set meal ($99 for two) was five courses, including a glass of wine. For Starters we chose Baked Blue Point oysters rockefeller and Braised double-cut pork belly with Pinot Noir reduction, and Fuji apple butter. I was quite surprised there were six oysters. They were tasty. The pork belly was one chunk of pork, deep fried, on a bed of mash potatos. It was just overcooked. For Salads we had Grilled peach and burrata salad (Shaved fennel, orange segments, balsamic Yuzu dressing) and Sous vide truffle-infused white asparagus (Tomato seed vinaigrette, toasted almonds, shaved burgundy truffle). For Entrees (we both had the 8 oz. center-cut petite filet mignon with Potato gratin, California-local-honey-glazed Wiser Farm petite carrots. The filet was very tasty and properly grilled to order. For wine we had a glass of Ferrari-Carano Merlot 2014 and a glass of Apollo Summit Creek Zinfandel 2012. The pourings were very generous, probably a fifth of the bottle. Surprisingly, the no-name Zinfandel was the more tasty and stood up to the grilled filet well. The Desserts were more disappointing. The Strawberries Romanoff, sauteed strawberries and Grand Marnier over hand-churned sour cream ice cream, was made from frozen strawberries, in the middle of strawberry season in LA. The Banana cream pie brulee, Homemade caramel, vanilla wafer, had barely been incinerated. Service was good. Except when delivering items, the servers did not come around to see if we needed anything. Valet parking was validated.

We had family visiting from England and like to go to the revolving lounge at the Bonaventure for drinks. It's always nice there. Good service, views and drinks. It takes about an hour to go full circle. It was stormy on the night we went so it was really beautiful to watch the city and the storm clouds. They validate parking too so even if you valet park it is reasonable.

My first experience at this restaurant was when it was called Top Of Five because it is the restaurant that sits above the 5 iconic cylinders of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. That was the night my wife and I got engaged. I have no memory of the food, but I do remember the impeccable service and the incredible views. Now 30 years later I wanted to take my wife back to the same restaurant...now called LA Prime. Our service was outstanding. We found several of the servers that were there 30 years ago! Now THAT says a lot to me. Prices were what you should expect in top class restaurant in Los Angeles. The food was also fantastic. I prefer restaurants that don't have 5 pages on the menu. What we look for in a restaurant is the ambience and the whole experience with food to match the expectation. LA Prime doesn't disappoint. Thanks Duc...you have a great team and I know you are proud of them!

This is great restaurant in an amazing hotel. The food was really good and the staff was excellent. I recommend you try this place with a group of friends for a great night.

Took my wife to LA Prime for our 40th anniversary. First off, let me tell you this a very nice place! We were led to our table and forgot about for about for the next 10 minutes. This was pretty much the theme the whole night!!! That being said, the food was out of this world! I would think if you're spending over $200.00 to dine you would be treated like a King and Queen...it just didn't happen!! Also when I made this reservation through Open Table, I told them it was our 40th....not a hello, congrats, nothing....

Great views from the top floor of the hotel and the service was great. The entrees we ordered were well executed.

I hadn't been to the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in about 30 years. It was always a favorite for its futuristic look. The look is still great, but the Hotel seemed a bit tired. We ate at LA Prime at the top of the Hotel, It was a great place, except for the conventioneers. They are cheap and follow their expense report guidelines. The view was nice, The Food excellent and the wine list was unbelievable! We had the ribeye and the steak au poivre. They were both excellent. I just don't care for sauces on a great steak, so the Steak au poivre wasn't my thing. However it was cooked perfectly. The appetizer was good and salad ok. Don't order the Baby Iceberg without Blue cheese, the ranch was very odd. Dessert was chocolate Mousse and perfect. The service was incredible. Thanks Jose! I think the key is acting like a real person and not an expense account nerd. We would go Back to LA Prime again. The Hotel is good for the elevator up.

Great view and fancy setting. Food is good, but nothing really special vs any good steakhouse. For that price, you can go to the best chef's in LA. They should either reprice or step up.

I dined at the Bona Vista Lounge (a step below LA Prime) and had a great bite and drink while overlooking LA. The slow turning restaurant offers 360 degree views of the city. The flatbread pizza was pretty good, and you can't go wrong with a glass of wine.

Myself and my new husband visited this restaurant during our honeymoon trip to Los Angeles. Our food and service was little to be desired. We did not feel we received good value for the price paid but absolutely loved the views of Los Angeles. I would recommend this restaurant for a drink or dessert if you wish to take in the view but would not recommend the restaurant for dinner.

One flight above the rotating BonaVista lounge is an oasis of fine dining that stays still (beware: a few us had expected the restaurant to revolve as well). The gin martini to kick things off was ideally balanced and, happily, featured a real twist. That was followed by an ideally timed second delivery of the appetizer. (The first arrived with the cocktail barely half done and despite a request to delay it until the opening libation had vanished; nonetheless, Barrett kept the trains running pretty well on time for the remainder of the meal.) The “classic” three-cheese onion soup (rich and hot with the “bread” not too crunchy) was accompanied by a glass of Coppola, Director’s Cut Chardonnay Napa ’12 which was cool crisp and provided an extra bit of flavour just at the back of the tongue. The 14 ounce New York strip (rare) was close to melt-in-your-mouth perfection, improving on the way into the centre of the cut. The beef was paired with potato gratin, which featured a wonderful texture although a tad salty. The wine accompaniment (Argentinian Malbec) arrived somewhat late but was, typically, its delectable, dependable self. Nearby, a table of four was taking great delight in snapping “foodies” and sending them to the Internet as fast as their dishes arrived. I preferred to savour mine without photographic evidence, letting memory fill in the blanks.

Restaurant is located at the Top of the Hotel great view usually I have an issue eating in Hotel Restaurants Our steaks were cooked to perfection . Excellent but pricey Wine list

Came here for a quick late night dinner before a long week for a trade show. Sal was my server and he was fantastic! What I would expect to find at a five star restaurant. Pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. I originally order the chicken fajita sandwich minus the guacamole but he was concerned that the dish might not be as tasty without it so steered me to a different entree. I ended up going with the burger since I wanted something quick so late at night. The burger was served with French fries layered in which was a bit interesting. The burger itself was not that great. Bun was a bit overwhelming and the burger could have been more flavorful. The drinks, service and view made up for the burger! Apple martinis were fantastic and it was nice sitting in a revolving restaurant on the 34th floor. Nice views of LA. Definitely would come back. Either for drinks only or to order something else.

I was hoping to impress herself with some fine dining in downtown LA for the new year. SPG recommended this restaurant to me and as a platinum member I know that they are quality organization so I listened. Unfortunately we got very poor service and terrible food (the worst lobster and steak I've eaten in years) An 18% gratuity was automatically added to the $150 cost which gave the staff zero incentive to provide decent service.

The food is very good and I tried a perfect risotto. The win list is amazing and deserves some time to read it.

Nice Steak Restaurant on the 35th floor of the Westin hotel. Good wine selection & menu including several seafood selection. Very good view of down town LA

This place is Awesome! The steak was so tender I actually could easily cut it with a fork! I hear that saying all the time but this is my first time to actually witness it!! The view is amazing and the staff has a genuine concern to keep you happy!

Stunning views, good service, good food. Menu prices were a shocker. Restaurant staff were pleasant, just not sure it was worth the price.

Wonderful meal without leaving your hotel, with an amazing birdseye view of the city. A great place for a business meal.

This restaurant is on the 35th floor of the Westin and offers a great view of the city. The service was fantastic both nights I ate here. The scallops were huge and well prepared and the filet was the best I ever had. The sine of Mac and Cheese is a must have!

What an absolutely disappointing experience. First off, they treat single/duo diners like second class citizen with not having any tables with better views as those are all saved for larger parties. Secondly the management of the dining floor is sorely lacking. They should not be seating people in a section where the server already has a very large party where her attention is focused primarily on the large group. While the server was as friendly as could be, the service was absolutely awful because I was an afterthought due to the attention being focused on the large group. Simple things that should be standard in a fine dining restaurant but weren’t here, not being offered drink refills proactively, not being offered dessert proactively, not being periodically checked on during the dining experience and not proactively being offered to have my leftovers packed. The food at best was mediocre. Not bad but not great. I’ve had better burgers at places like Red Robin. About the only item that was a good quality and truly said, this is fine dining, was the wedge salad. Then to add insult to injury, the restaurant manager clearly had no desire to deal with customers and felt it was the proper approach to blame the server for the shortcomings rather than take responsibility and apologize for the experience. I would have been better off dining in the restaurant on the lobby level and spending a third of the price.

Our waiter, Cameron, provided excellent service during our recent visit to LA Prime. We took advantage of the Travel Zoo “Dinner for 2” deal and had a delicious dinner. Cameron was attentive and welcoming - truly a top-notch waiter.

We went for a great steak, but being from Houston, was a bit disappointed, in that all the excellent local steakhouses we have at home. Don't get me wrong, the food was great. Service was very nice. Prices are high, but expected. Great views.

We had a New Years reservation here. We were not informed until we arrived that it was a price fixe menu. The selections were limited and it is certainly information that should be provided prior to a reservation, especially when they are charging $140.00. The seating is varied. There are booths, which offer a bit more privacy. If you are a party of 3 or 4, the you will have space between the tables. However, if you are a party of 2, there are several tables that are extremely close to one another. It would be recommended to request a booth to avoid this being an issue. We did ask about perhaps including something from the regular menu, but were told this was not an option. The steak was good, but simply average tasting. The same for the lobster tail. They were served warm, but not hot, including the drawn butter. The potatoes served with the entrees could not even be considered one serving size! There was only one dessert offered, so if you did not like chocolate then you were out of luck. Again, for a set price for the courses offered, they should have been served hot, even sizzling; there should have been at least a single serving of potatoes; and there should have been more variety. The service was adequate, but not worthy of an included gratuity for a party of any size. On a positive note, the views here were amazing, but better steaks and service can be found elsewhere in this area.

The view from the restaurant is very good, the food was good but pricey, my gripe is with the staff who appeared to be pleasant at the start but it didnt last. I was offered water as is the norm with other restaurants i have been to. It wasnt until i got the check that i realised that they had charged me $7 for the water which is free in other places. When i ordered my main course the waitress said it would be nice with an additional side that was not mentioned in the menu neither did she say that it would cost extra. i believe that these things should be mentioned at the time. It took the shine off a nice meal. I didnt leave any tip for her and that didnt go down to well

We went here to celebrate my partners birthday. From the beginning, staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. We ordered steak and were impressed. We highly recommend the steak. There is a lovely place. Highly recommend.

Great location, wonderful hotel with good restaurants. Nicely appointed. I felt like I was in a Clint Eastwood movie every time I got on the elevator.

Our past experience with restaurants that are on a top floor with a great view has been great for a view, but mediocre for food. LA Prime on the 35th floor of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel experience was fantastic. The view is great, but the food was top notch. We had the lamb chops and pork chop which were cooked to perfection and high quality. This is an expensive restaurant, but they deliver top quality food. The service by Juan was spot on. Nice experience for a hotel restaurant.

Expensive steakhouse. Personal experience was they way-overcooked my entree and then the waiter pushed me to order a steak instead of getting my original meal properly cooked (which I took as a sign that the duck dish is awful in general and should never have ordered in the first place). I then got charged the higher price for the steak - I don't particularly like being up-charged on bad food and hour long waits. In general: - food and wine are very pricey, though wine list is good - atmosphere is a bit chintzy - service leaves a lot to be desired - the view is a nice one - no bar area, which I would have liked as a solo traveler for work Personally would never come back, don't suggest others go unless they really like the Stratosphere in Vegas and they don't care about quality/price.

I wanted to give this place a try due to the views and some reviews. First impression, no hostess for a few minutes until I got the attention of the wait staff walking by. I was seated in a nice clean booth with great view. Waited on right away with pleasant staff. Wine selection was good reasonable prices. Menu for food very limited and a bit pricey. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass - this is my go to meal when I want to splurge. The sea bass was served with mini carrots and turnips and pea tendrils, looked amazing. Tasted less than amazing in fact it lacked any real flavor. The portion size was correct. I'm just disappointed in this meal. The couple beside me didn't like their meal either. I heard him tell the wait staff the meal was too salty. They did offer to amend his meal, which was the proper thing to do.

For valentines I had the pleasure to have dinner here. I was impressed food was awesome. The pre-set valentines menu was above expectations because not only did you get great food but also champagne, a teddy bear, corsage, and keepsake glasses. What girl doesn't like to take home gifts? On top of everything, LA Prime is not the typical high end steak house. Wonderful calm, romantic atmosphere where the food portions did NOT shrink with the big price. It was well worth it to eat good and get full. Worth going back and trying the regular menu one day.

Early dinner; arrived at 5:30 pm and promptly seated. Waitress pleasant and informative. View was exceptional, good table. Ordered the wedge salad; tasty but diminutive... The lettuce fit under the single slice of tomato. Feasted on the bone-in filet; cooked perfectly and very tender and flavorful. On a low carb regimen, so no bread or drinks. Escaped with the tip included $75.00...well worth the experience...could have enjoyed a larger salad for the money.

This is an excellent place to take a date (or your spouse). It has such wonderful views of the city. The steaks are excellent, as well as the side dishes. I wish all restaurants had such a view. I had no problems here and will be coming back.

Great location on the 35th floor of the red tower of the Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles (DTLA). Attentive, friendly, professional service from the staff. Beautiful view. I was really excited about visiting this location and, unfortunately, it didn't deliver... I settled in before the dinner rush, ordered and they missed one of the items I had ordered, which was disappointing. My steak (bone-in filet) was undercooked... The shrimp scampi, that should have accompanied my steak was okay but underwhelming... The asparagus (which I ordered without the cheese and sauce) was also underwhelming. The waiter was very apologetic for the late arrival of the shrimp scampi and offered to comp me a dessert. I had a delicious chocolate mousse dessert. So, unfortunately, based in this experience, I have to say LA Prime is definitely worth a visit for the view but you should probably just grab a drink, take a few pics, and then head to another steakhouse for dinner. (I really wish I could have offered a more positive review).

We were invited here by a good friend of the hotel owner and were treated like royalty. The restaurant is very expensive but very good. Rather than each ordering our own starters and entrees, we ordered a seafood platter for the entire table (of five) to share, two Caesar salads plated for each of us, two Delmonico steaks (again shared) and two desserts, three cocktails and a bottle of wine, which was the perfect amount of food and drink. Excellent bread basket with olive tapenade. Seafood fresh. Steaks cooked (medium rare as ordered) to perfection, with nice crust and cut like butter. Strong drinks. View to die for. The only reason I did not give the place an "excellent" was that the decor seemed a little uninspired. Also, this being So Cal, no one dresses up to dine there (including us) so be prepared to see your share of baseball caps and shorts. A great place for a special occasion. And here's a big tip. Travelzoo.com currently has (good till mid August) $125 chef's-dinner (more limited menu) for-two vouchers for a complete dinner (including starters, appetizers, entrees, desserts and a bottle of wine), a $229 value. Tax and tip not included.

First, we were pushed the $200 fixed price dinner. No need for a flower, teddy bear, and bottle of Brut. We were flying back home the next monring. The oyster app and escargot were ok, the filets were horrible. $100 worth of filets, 2/3 in the trash. First run through had a cold, raw center. After I sent it back, they returned it with seared edges, raw again. It was the same filet. A place like this, there is no way they should have sent out the same filet. What a disgrace. Server was nowhere to be found. Finally, as we were getting ready to leave, he returned. Took one of the filets off our tab...but it still cost us $160. Had coffee and dessert at the lobby Starbucks. Much better service than LA PRime. Happy Valentine's Day!

Excellent food, service, commanding views, great wine list Its expensive. Like uber expensive, but you had to know that going in :) For special occasion, you simply cant beat it.

Ate here for Thanksgiving. Excellent viwes. and intimate atmosphere. Do not know about the 'year round' menu

Nice views with a really bad food. The hamburger was terrible. The prices ver high in order to the food quality. I dont recomend it

Plan was to go to LA prime but was advised that the revolving restaurant one floor below used the same kitchen. That was a mistake. I was looking for a good steak. Extremely disappointed. The steak was burnt on the outside and they tried to convince me that a medium well steak was medium rare. On top of that they serve it with fries and greens with some awful salad dressing. So of course I sent the steak back and it took them a while to redo it. Rather than trying to fix the problem they tried to convince me that my idea of medium rare was not quite what their idea of medium rare. They did change the steak and brought me a new one. This was in between rare and medium rare. It was edible but not worth the $52 price, especially since they served it with fries and salad greens that you can buy by the box at Costco. Don't go to the revolving restaurant if you are looking for a good steak. View was great, especially the sunset.

Attended a Christmas business dinner event at the Westin Bonaventure; had dinner at L,A. Prime. Very nice setting and food presentation. Started with a shrimp cocktail as appetizer and thank goodness they give you ample cocktail sauce to dip the giant shrimp into. I had their salmon which was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. Some other attendees had their top sirloin that looked mouth-watering as well.

Pepper steak was fine; filet mignon was average. Pass on the creamed spinach, and get the glazed local carrots instead. The bread basket had a very nice cheddar crisp and date-nut bread in it. Wines by the glass were interesting at the top end. They did give me a free birthday treat. The views would be great on a clear day, but I've seen more spectacular SoCal sunsets from the ground. A MUCH BETTER decision would have taken us one floor down to the revolving bar area where one can get smaller portions of bar food and see a lot more of the city.

It was "OK". I am tired of these overpriced steak houses that serve just Ok cuts and the basic boring potatoes and caesar salad. Mortons and Ruth Chris they are all of the same mode and the only thing that stands out is the $$$$ bill at the end. This place is no different

Has high hopes for LA Prime and my high hopes were met and maybe exceeded? Stepping into this restaurant I was ready to enjoy the views and a great bottle of wine and I sunk in, relaxed, enjoyed excellent food, drinks, and vibes. The menu is more traditional, but done in the best way possible, fabulous.

The dinner at this location was good and the view spectacular. However, it was too pricey. The cocktails left much to be desired and the celebration was limited as the DJ and dancing area were uninspiring.

We visited on a weeknight, and the downtown was just getting dark and people were headed home, plus it was a holiday night, so it was a great night to visit. We opted for the lounge instead of the restaurant because of the revolving room which was slow and fun. (We had just visited Seattle's revolving restaurant which has a lot faster revolution in our opinion, so this was slow and pokey in speed comparison, but just as good). Holiday is a great time to go because you can see the holiday lights and lights in the shapes of Christmas trees on the side of some buildings downtown, plus the street trees are lit up, some building tops, etc., so the timing was perfect. We arrived around 5 and there were plenty of tables open in the lounge. Our waiter helped us decide on the hamburger (which turned out to be fantastic). It came with french fries INSIDE the burger, which was interesting and good. Lounge tables are smaller, but you can have dinner easier there. We shared a Caesar salad with anchovies which was very good but the anchovies were a bit slimy but edible...but the salad was very good and crisp. Great dressing too. No bread, but we enjoyed the meal and the ambiance was well worth it. The bathrooms were fine and the service took a bit long to get the burger, but the servers were friendly and helpful. Our bill was over $60 for 2 adults.

Had a business dinner here on a weeknight. The Host was very helpful and accommodated a special request. However, our waiter needed some help. Despite his best efforts, his command of the English language was poor and it resulted in several errors in our order due to miscommunications. My bone-in-filet was great, seasoned very well and cooked to order, although I don't think it actually weighed 14 oz. I would not order the potatoes au-gratin again. Started the meal with a baby green salad that was good, but the kitchen forgot the cheese that was listed on the menu. Overall I would try LA Prime again, but expected much more.

Had a wonderful meal at LA Prime tonight. Service was top notch, the view of downtown LA spectacular and the food was delicious. It is expensive but, as the filet mignon was outstanding, worth the price. Beet salad was fresh and tasty, aforementioned filet was perfect and the creme brule cheesecake was a perfect ending. A fantastic wine list is icing on the cake. I hope tonight was the norm for them as I will be back for sure!!

I needed a special place for a celebration, and I got it. Amazing views above LA, great wine list and amazing steaks! Pricey but worth it for a special occasion.

Yes, the steaks are good. But not to die for, the savory meat that we are used to in Texas. I ordered a bone in filet and it was $54 - so I had high expectations. Yes, it was good. But just good. My salad was good too. The wine was good - for the bottle was $250. So would I say this is a 5 star restaurant, no. But the food is good. If you are staying here and it is convenient, it is worth the price. I would not drive across town for it though.... Great views of the mountains though.

Jet lag is a pain and Auckland to L.A. gave us two Wednesdays in one week and fuzzy heads, determined to get the most of our two days in L.A. we visited Kelvin our concierge at the Omni L.A. ( the guys who know everything and can get you into most things!) he suggested that as we wanted the best steaks in town and that our stay was limited a trip in the hotel limo to “LA Prime” the restaurant on 35th floor of the Westin Hotel was in order, great food and a view of the twinkling lights of LA would get us back into perspective. The food was great, steak that just melted in your mouth, sauces and side dishes to match and the views, wow the views were superb, to look down on the city all lit up and watch the planes and helicopters come into land was worth every penny (sorry dollar!)

Located at the Red Tower block, dinner at the Bona Vista Revolving Lounge was a good cut of thick solid steak, juicy inside and crispy outside, truly prime by LA Prime. It was a quiet evening and out table of 8 basically filled up the revolving restaurant. The view was excellent with various office towers and city lights through the revolving platform. Service was excellent though price was a little steep but for great quality. Highly recommended.

The Westin has got to be one of the most iconic beautiful buildings in LA so this was one of our reasons for visiting the restaurant since the hotel rooms were out of our budget. It turned out the restaurant was also out of our budget for nearly $50 for each main course! The food was wonderful, the sea bass in particular and the views were great however you couldn't get too close to the windows because of the balconies. The restaurant itself was very empty and perhaps this was because of the prices? Our waiter was incredibly friendly and certainly helped to make our experience memorable. For dessert we had banana creme brulee and I am generally not a fan of banana but it tasted great. There are so many restaurants to choose from Downtown that it's hard to choose where to go but if you want views, my recommendation would be 71Above.

Travelling frequently I usually avoid hotel restaurants where possible. The LA Prime is a wonderful exception - great food, drinks and service. Busy but ambient atmosphere even when dining solo. Try it - you'll be impressed - particularly the service and range of excellent beers and wine

Expensive, but aren't all the good steakhouses these days. Went with friends on a Thursday night and was able to get in with no reservation. Beautiful setting on rooftop of Westin hotel, great views. Very classic decor and excellent service. Disappointed with Caesar salad though, really not good, and it should have been perfect. The steak was amazing and made up for the salad, also had great side dishes, Mac and cheese and squash. Yum. Steak was huge and had no room for dessert.

Superlative food, great service and fabulous view. It was a relatively quiet restaurant (we went on a Thursday night) but that didn't take away from the romantic setting. We ordered gumbo and lobster bisque for starters. Their signature rib eye and lamp chops for mains. Absolutely to die for and perfectly cooked, almost in old school home made fashion. Multiple people kept filling our glasses, taking away plates, service, service, service. Made us feel important. I will definitely go back.

The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. I like medium rare and that was I got, blackened on the outside and juicy and tender inside. Honestly it was delicious. Worth it every penny.

I had a great time here, the service was awesome by Alexis, my best friend and I never ran out of drinks and we were ask many times if everything was good, the food was also good, I had the ribeye and my friend the NY, the temperatures were also as we ordered and the sides were delicious! The only thing my friend didn’t like was the watermelon martini, it tasted old watermelon. Over all I would definitely come back but this time to the lounge!!

We must be getting old, but when we pay $150 for a meal we expect a certain dress code, not people turning up in scruffy jeans and trainers, wandering round with their phones in their ears and disrupting the ambience of the place. The food was overpriced for what we received and although the view over downtown LA was good we won't be going back.

My husband and I treated ourselves to Valentine's Day Dinner at LA Prime. The restaurant is on the 35th floor of the red tower in the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. We were seated by the window and enjoyed a spectacular sunset view of LA. The Pre-Fixe dinner was excellent as was the service. All of the women were handed a long stem red rose and a little teddy bear at the conclusion of dinner. Nice touch!

This is the second time we visited LA Prime using a Travelzoo deal. The menu has been downgraded slightly, as you are no longer offered a soup and a salad with the Travelzoo promotion. Instead, you may choose between a soup or salad, and they have added an amuse bouche dish, which is basically a morsel at the beginning of the meal to tease the palate. Unfortunately, the amuse Bouche was poorly done, and added very little to the dining experience. The previous travel zoo promotion was significantly better value than this one, although in all fairness the promotion is still a very good value over all. Our server, Blake, was excellent, personable, and attentive. Leaving aside the disappointing amuse bouche opening course, The remainder of the meal was excellent, as you would expect. The beet salad is a favorite, and it did not disappoint. Likewise, the petite fillet mignon was an excellent kind of meat, and prepared quite well. The temperature was perhaps a tad more done then we ordered it, however, a good cut of meat such as this one tends to be more forgiving. The desserts were also excellent. We chose the crème brûlée cheesecake, and the chocolate mousse cake. Both were very good. We do enjoy this restaurant, and the Travelzoo promotion is always a great value. Hopefully they opt to return to their former menu and reinstate the soup and salad instead of limiting you to just one, however, I am sure cast is a significant consideration.

The service was great; the food was as expected in this type of restaurant, but the view and service were above expectations. The steak was outstanding.

Arrived to the table and was introduced to a nightmare of a waiter who had absolutely no clue. We waited 15 minutes just to order some coktails. When the food arrived it was good - not mind blowing or amazing as the prices would suggest, but more like 'good' in a mediocre way. After dinner we then waited for our check, meanwhile our waiter took our valet ticket for validating which would be a rather nice gesture if he didn't drop it between some tables and spent nearly an extra 30 minutes to find it! Anyone could have taken that and gone to pick up our car! Outrageous! Furthermore, their credit card system would not cooperate with any of our cards because they were not american (we tried 4 different cards, all with coverage!) which resulted in yet another 45 minutes of waiting until we were faced by the manager, who had his head stuck so far up His own behind, he couldnt even see the signature, and wouldnt aknowledge their failure or excuse in any way. An utterly horrible evening, a complete disarster that certainly set the mood for the night - horrible...! I would give 0/5 but since the food was fine, they get 1 star.

This restaurant on the 35th floor is just perfect. Such a good experience. It is beautiful. The view is just amazing. The dishes were delicious and fresh. The quality of the meat was better than what you can find in the city. I recommend this restaurant. One of the best I went.

Great food , amazing food , and awesome views . Thank you Mark and Francisco for making our family outing a special one .

Was here in December and managed to secure a table with ease.. Very nice spot with some good food and drink...

We had a birthday celebration dinner here and it didn't disappoint. Great views, food and service. They surprised us with a cake at the end of our dinner. Pricey but worth it.

Go to this restaurant. Best steak I've ever had and I've had a lot of steak ... the sides are really big you can defo share them we ordered too much. Yes slightly pricey but the food is worth the money. Lovely setting the whole view of LA is amazing we had a window seat but tables are all around this place I would go to say the best meal I have ever had! The staff work very hard. Steak. Mac and cheese. Potatoes OMG such good food

The view is wonderful from the lounge. Come early enough to take a few rotations to see the whole view. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I was with a very large group and we had a limited menu. The lobster bisque was excellent. I ordered a filet w/extra veggies no potatoes. They brought it with potatoes and quickly corrected the mistake. The food was excellent, served hot and the filet was perfectly cooked and very tender. The service was a little slow between courses but it was a very large group. It was a very warm day in LA and the temperature in the restaurant was very warm. I would definitely come back.

Made reservations 2 weeks in advance and specified we were celebrating our 5-year anniversary. Worst wait service we have ever experienced at a restaurant like this. After the waiter took our order we did not see him again until the check arrived. The busboy handled the majority of our service requests after having to flag him down. The majority of the food was barely edible and tasted like something you would buy at the frozen section of Walmart that’s expired. When the waiter finally came to present the check, he asked how the food was and I told him it was not edible. Instead of acknowledging my comment he turned and walked away, leaving the check on the table. At no point through our entire dining experience did anyone acknowledge or congratulate us on celebrating our special occasion. We also did not receive souvenir glasses which we were looking forward to receiving. Multiple calls and voicemails were left for the General Manager Duke Newtran requesting a call back and an opportunity to explain what happened, which were ignored.

The "House" is the Ribeye. Fabulous piece of meat prepared properly. Mark was our waiter and did a best of class job. I asked for a "well marbled" steak and Mark participated in it's selection. Very nicely done.

We had a great time in the rotating restaurant. As always great service. Great view of the bright lights of downtown LA.

I went to the LA Prime restaurant at the top of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, only to realise that the floor of the restaurant itself was rotating. I was so awed that i didn't even forgot to eat. You need to Visit.

Hubby is a "view person" so we took advantage of the Travelzoo opportunity to check it out. Overall enjoyable but not over the top good. Started with shrimp cocktail, sea bass entrée was excellent, perfectly cooked and delicious. Filet Mignon was cooked just the way I ordered and sides were nice. Ordered a merlot that was nice. Desserts left a little bit to be desired. I think we paid for the spectacular view and the meal happened to come with it. Service was excellent. Would recommend it for a special occasion.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful 50th birthday dinner here at LA Prime. The shrimp is not to be missed they were so huge that they split the order and it was still enough for both of us, we had a beautiful ribeye steak Delmonico and wonderful lamb chops they were succulent and very tasty the staff was warm welcoming and playful, the maitre d went out of his way to make sure that we had a wonderful birthday celebration. They even brought a special dessert and designed chocolate lettered by the chef. Overall a wonderful place so wonderful of you to share with a loved one. Thank you to our server Vicky Basil and General Manager Duc Newtran

Abysmal! Ordered the 10oz Filet medium rare and they burned it twice! Now, its bad enough that the basics of time and temperature escape the kitchen but the complete and utter lack of any semblance of taste is a bigger issues! The mash potatoes we equally as bad. Talked with other diners on the way out and they confirmed my experience. Got to be better

Beautiful venue for dinner. Steak was ok. Had the $48 filet which looked a little under nourished. Luckily I was under the weather and not that hungry. I wish I took the car out of the valet and drive to Mastro's. It would have been well worth the drive. First time here, stay at the Westin often but never tried it before. Won't be back. Too many better options in LA.

I had a little celebration and LA Prime it’s the best place for that...it’s on 35th floor of Westin Bonaventure hotel in downtown LA, it also rotate so you get a slightly different view if you stay enough. The food is amazing but pricy though but totally worth it in my opinion. Make sure you get the ones I added a picture of. You have to try the ribeye steak👌🏻

I am in L.A. for a trade show and staying at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. Food, service and ambiance were impeccable. I had the filet mignon both times - prepared to a Medium Rare perfection! The view is amazing! Extremely professional service.

A very clean and modern hotel. Lovely rooms and a great gym. Took me a little while to understand the three towers. A great location for downtown LA. Recommended for any type of stay.

My first time to dine here and I was, as usual, a party of one. Was greeted warmly at this restaurant on the 35th floor of the wonderful Westin Bonaventure Hotel via the Red Tower. Once it was established that I was a solo table who only drank tap water, the service became less engaging. Don't get me wrong--it was fine but much less engaging than was exhibited to the other larger tables consuming alcohol. But let's get to the food--absolutely 5 Star. The bread choices and crushed olive spread were delicious and well presented. The Caesar salad came with wonderful white anchovies and a delightful crouton. The side of fresh cream corn took me back to the South. However, the perfectly cooked bone-in ribeye was over the top perfect. Good that is was, as no one asked me if the Pittsburgh rare was done to my liking until I was well over 1/3 of the way through it. The desserts looked interesting but I did not hang out to taste them. Oh, and the view of the City was fabulous! I will be back and I will bet you my experience will be even better than this when I do.

My wife and I were recently in LA for an event and were lucky enough to have had the opportunity to try LA Prime for the first time. The view from the 35th floor of the Westin St. Bonaventure was really good, but everything about LA Prime was great! The appetizers were exquisite, from the tuna tartare and the crabmeat were fresh, tasty and delightful. The beet salads were equally as good but the filets were perfection! Cooked perfectly, tender and scrumptious! And, did I mention the service? The service was spectacular for our intimate dinner party of 25 close friends and relatives. If you have been, you know how great it is. If you have not been, you deserve to give it a try and you too will walk away wondering why you waited so long!

Had gone for my birthday dinner. Party of 8. food was good, so was the service. I would have given 5 stars, but the reason i give 4 is this. When we were seated the server brought in a watermelon appetizer on tasting spoons. He said this is complimentary, but when we got the bill we were charged for it. We did not contest it, just paid it and left.

LA Prime is showing signs it's past its prime... The view is nice, the food isn't bad, and the service was friendly on a recent visit, but the decor and the menu are aging, and not in a positive, aged-steak or fine wine sort of way. It's still expensive though, so I think it's due for some fresh ideas coming from the kitchen, and a renovation to bring it back to top form.

To begin with, the restaurant is pricey (can range from $40-70 per person). The food was good, with the fish being soft and tender. However, the service was standard and the view of Downtown LA is nice but just a few skyscrapers, at least from where I sat. Overall, I had a pleasant evening, but I don't think it was worth the price.

Hubby got a travelzoo deal for $99. A very nice pre christmas date 😊. This includes a 4 course meal with complimentary wine, how great is that!. It surely is well worth it... from the amazing view of downtown, to the service and the food. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated as the place was packed because of the holidays. We had the lobster bisque and braised pork for appetizer and filet mignon for the main dish- which was paired with red wine. For dessert, we chose the mango cheesecake and chocolate mousse. Perfect! Oh and did I mention free valet? Surely a great experience...

Had a group lunch here. Food was good; service okay. We were never asked what we wanted to drink. Table mate’s bread plate was removed before she finished eating. Started with a salad which was several leaves of romaine, one slice of tomato, a crouton and a bit of Parmesan . Pretty unimaginative. Entree was salmon served with asparagus. Both were very tasty and well cooked. Dessert was some sort of mousse which was pretty gross. Views from the 35th floor are killer.

The Thanksgiving menu had 4 or 3 plates to choose from in the started section, 3 plates to choose from in the entree section and 3 in the dessert section. We were a party of 8, some went for the steak, I had the lamb and it was really tasty. The restaurant was really busy and all providing the service were making an effort to keep up. They ran out of one of the desserts in the menu, and our reservation was at 7pm, then, not a very good logistic planning when they ran out of one of the dishes in a menu booked several weeks ahead of time and early in the night. As a summary; not a bad experience but considering the place and the expectation and the price tag, it could have been better.

My daughter and I decided to splurge at the Bonaventure after work for drinks. I hadn't been to the rotating bar in a very long time so it was great seeing LA from one of the best venues ever. It was sparsely occupied which also gave it a relaxing quiet vibe. Pricier than ever for mediocre food and drinks though. Still can't beat view!

LA PRIME 11-30-2025 LA Prime is amazing. The views, service, atmosphere, and staff are fantastic. The food is so delicious and fresh. HOT STARTER I had the traditional escargot in shell with maître d’hôtel butter. The butter flavor is so delicious. It is butter mixed with finely chopped parsley, lemon juice, and garlic. I love escargot, and many high-end restaurants in Los Angeles don’t serve it. So when I saw LA Prime, I was like, “ Oh man, I am getting that and I’m glad I did. Signature Steaks For the signature steaks, I got the 10-ounce filet mignon au poivre, brandy peppercorn sauce. I got it rare. Omg that was so delicious. The steak is so tender it melts in your mouth. The au poivre sauce was tasty. It adds flavors to the steak. It is made with crushed peppercorns, cream, and brandy, adding a bold and spicy kick to your dish. Sides For the sides, I got almost everything. The crispy Brussels sprouts with sage, hazelnuts, preserved lemon, and Parmesan. The Yukon gold-loaded mashed potatoes, smoked bacon, cheddar, and callions. The baby spinach in Parmesan cream sauce. The macaroni and Vermont white cheddar cheese au gratin, and the farm-fresh asparagus spears with Hollandaise sauce. Dessert I got the crème brûlée. It was so rich and creamy. The caramelized sugar on top was so good. You can actually crack it. It was delicious. Drinks They have a lot of drink options. They have a wide variety of wines.

Disappointing visit whereby the staff seems very uncoordinated. Lots of waiting for just ok food. Go somewhere else for these prices

Only stayed here 2 nights, overall this is a business hotel in downtown Los Angeles...lovely looking public areas, revolving restaurant on 35th floor, very dark (couldn't see what we were eating), and very expensive, as was the bar and restaurant in the lobby. The service there wasn't very good either, not very interested in a couple having drinks as opposed to a single man! Parking, which is necessary, was $40 per day, which is ludicrous. View from room average, looked down onto office buildings. Pool was ridiculously small for a hotel with over 3,000 rooms, with only around 30 beds. None of the shops and the best looking bar/restaurant were all closed while we were there, apparently because it was Labor Day...I would have thought more reason to be open with more people holidaying there.

I get the idea of a rotating lounge being a really interesting and special atmosphere however when there's literally nothing else that's enjoyable about your dining experience, it negates the fact that you have great views. Food: nothing special... And overpriced. the crispy fries seemed out of a bag and we split a pizza which seemed like pre-cut flat bread and 4 pieces of mushroom with scantly spread cheese. Drinks: way overpriced. Literally for their small glass of wine you could buy a decent $10 bottle. Not much of a selection either. Service: what service? We actually got to the point where we were looking for another server only to realize it seemed like there was just 1 on: 1 front of the house, 1 runner, 1 server... Maybe that's why the food was bad, 1 chef?! Price: OVERPRICED! We went to the lounge thinking we'd get the same experience of a rotating restaurant with less expense and formality as a the steakhouse but we paid way too much for what we were getting. Actually very disappointed: wouldn't return or recommend.

a magnificent giant hotel with glorious views of the city. We ate well and the Caesar Salad was enormous and my wife's NY Sandwich ( Rare ) was superb, Great value for money - although at $70 for wine plus tip - the win is poor value for money .

Huge building, hotel very modern and class. I will recommend to go to the bar. You will have a nice view and also it rotates so you can see all around. The restaurant is pricy but it is gastronomic. It is delicious.

We are attending a conference at the Bonaventure. After a long day of meetings, we went to La Prime for a view of LA while we had dinner. All the dishes were delicious. We had the Delmonico Steak, Colorado Lamb Chops, Sea Food Scampi, and Risotto. Excellent restaurant for dinner.

The steak was good, but I guess I am a bit too low budget for this place. I am accustom to this quality at about half the cost. I have eaten at Ruth's Chris, and this ain't a Ruth's Chris (except for the cost).

Great place for dining for a special occasion. Also always visit the bar/lounge on the floor below which revolves - great for a cocktail to start off the evening!

Good food and wine was not overpriced. We were part of a group but what I saw of the menu looked reasonably priced. There were many selections but I had the cod. Large portions.

The dinner we had at LA Prime is one of the top dinners we've enjoyed. I asked for my steak cooked medium and it was cooked perfect. Their mashed potatoes are called "whipped" and I understood why after tasting them--they were soft and light, and I wanted more! The asparagus was cooked perfect!! They were cooked, yet perfectly crunchy. The only thing I would eliminate next time is the hollandaise sauce which was a bit too much--but I loved the cheese. In addition, the view is absolutely beautiful! Great meal, and $20 corking fee for our own bottle of wine enabled us to enjoy a wonderful dinner with a beautiful city view of all the lights!

My wife and I went to the lounge to have a drink and it was amazing. The lounge sits on the 35th floor and it revolves around so it get amazing views all around. They have a small menu with appetizers and small meals which was great because he were not that hungry just wanted to drink and see the city. We stayed about 90 minutes and we didnt even come close to going in a complete circle. I will definately go again. We stayed at the Omni Hotel and just walked to the Lounge.

Great dinner and very good service. It is a classy dinning room with amazing views. Great for dinner meeting.

First time here with some friends for dinner. Of course, expensive a la carte menu, but really worth it! Food is fresh, assorted bread basket, a long list of red and white wines, great service, and not to mention the awesome view! Amazing LA skyline as you grab a bite off of your plate. We made a reservation around 9:00pm, which was a good time to go, not too crowded. This is also the place to go for a romantic dinner with your significant other.

Not recommended as the prices are $$$$$ and the service average at best...while the views are good they are not worth the prices! If you do visit recommend having drinks and lite eats in the cocktail area to enjoy the views and eat elsewhere.
Drinks and a view
The revolving top of the Westin Bonaventure Hotel is a perfect place to get fabulous views of the LA skyline either in the day or when the place is lit up at night, great service, good choice of drinks and the prices for getting this view more than reasonable.
