Saturday brunch

By flash407 |

We made reservations but when arrived , we learned they were indoors and not on the rooftop. Nice part of eating inside was it was quieter and we could enjoy a conversation. The food was really good. We had a burger and French fries. Honestly, the fries were perfectly crispy!!! The burger was really good. The pork belly starter was a little piece of pork that was overpriced. A little pricey...we shared an appetizer, each had a burger and one had sparkling water for $55. The rooftop is a gorgeous vantage point and easy to pop upstairs to get a quick photo or two.

Interesting serving size but food was delicious!

My husband and I have been to LH a couple of times for drinks. The Moscow Mules and specialty offerings are terrific! The rooftop bar has a spectacular view and is wonderful on nice days that aren't too hot. It can be really crowded up there especially on weekdays with the after-work crowd and on nice weekends. Just FYI: You can reserve a table at the rooftop bar if you call them directly. Only indoor seating is available for reservations with Open Table. We decided to have dinner on this particular visit and were a little perplexed by the offerings once they arrived. The menu has snacks, small, medium and signature dishes. I guess we wrongly assumed that the signature dishes would actually be meal-sized. I ordered the cheeseburger from the snack menu and got a huge delicious burger with fries for $15. Loved it! My husband ordered the smoked whitefish from the signature menu for $26 and got this wee tiny little bit of fish with two tiny lettuce hearts. When the waiter placed the minute offering in front of my husband, he was speechless. We should have said something but now we know! The fish was really good but really, really petite - literally six bites and gone. Feeling sorry for my husband's mostly empty stomach, I let him have a third of my cheeseburger and most of my fries which kept him from complaining. I think we will stick to just coming for drinks after this though I would not be averse to experiencing that cheeseburger again.

Great View and Bar

Went to the roof top bar on a drizzly afternoon. Still pretty views from the top. You need to take an elevator to the top. If you have reservations or staying at hotel, they give you VIP access to the elevator.

Best Chicago’s view

By Nicomarto |

Beautiful view, delicious cocktails and very nice fries! Place is nice. Although we had some problems at first because of staff disorganization, the hostess kindly made some arrangements to enhance our experience!

Nice view and great service!

By John |

First night in Chicago, my wife, some friends, and I went to the bar on the 21st floor of the London House. It’s a great, cozy place. The 22nd floor has an amazing view of Downtown Chicago. Also, our server Rachel was great! Very jovial!

Panoramic views

Breathtaking panoramic views of Chicago river and downtown. We went up right before lunch on NYE, it was quite empty and quiet, we had an enjoyable time there.

Almost 5 stars

By BeLaZe |

I am glad we gave it a second try (first we gave up in the lobby as our dinner reservation was getting too close). We came late the second time, after 10 pm. There was no wait, no reservation needed for drinks, just walking up from the 21st floor (you gotta take elevator D from the lobby: not the easiest to find your way up if you don’t know that) View is fantastic. Crowd is appropriate for the view. Drinks are expensive and just ok. ($20 Margarita with no salt?)

Rude service

By sallie319 |

My husband and I decided to try this bar on July 3. I called in the morning to make a reservation, I got a recording and left a message. We showed up at 5:30, the time I had requested, and they knew nothing of my reservation. They said I could try and find a spot. Some nice people who only partially filled their table invited us to join them. I ordered a burger and a glass of wine. Both were tasty. I still had most of my wine and half my burger left, when the VIP manager came over to our table and started wiping it off! He said the people who had a reservation for the table had arrived and we needed to leave! I was astounded by his rudeness and lack of customer service. Very arrogant. We will not return. There are lots of good views in Chicago.

Great View - Make a Reservation!

By erin464 |

If you plan to come here for happy hour make sure you have a reservation! I was so happy we had booked ahead, as there was a giant line that we were able to skip past when we arrived for our reservation. We were given a table right along the rail with a fantastic view of the river and surrounding buildings. All of the reserved tables are behind a rope, so the general public can't even access that area of the rail. Everyone without a reservation was fighting it out for the smaller areas along the rail on either side of the reserved area. I felt bad for the people who had likely waited in line for a very long time, only to get up to the top and find out they couldn't even really see the river. If you do have a reservation, the view is outstanding - especially if you are there for sunset! Service was pretty slow and everything was pricey, but both are to be expected at such a crowded hotspot. I really liked that at night, the bar had really cool lighting strung up everywhere.

Nice place to unwind, great views

By DrParticle |

Elegant bar with a well stocked bar. The service was prompt but not rushed or intrusive. With enough tables for those more personal drink after dinner, it was an evening we enjoyed.

Lunch with a beautiful view

By Tais E. |

It is worth visiting because it has an amazing view of the city. I recommend you make a reservation. We had lunch there, the food was good, but not exceptional. The service was very good.

Incredible City Views

By lasav22 |

Beautiful rooftop with incredible views. Only went for drinks. Recommend making a reservation if you wish to sit. It was packed on a Monday evening, long wait to get drinks and we could barely find a place to stand without being told to move by security. Worth the trip up for the views.

Love the views!

By Christine Ramirez |

So worthwhile! Loved the views and cocktails were good (not my favorite in the city, and not inexpensive, but fun and worthwhile). Sexy place for couples and fun for friends.

Best rooftop bar in the City

By procyclist |

Although it's very cramped (over half of the rooftop portion is "reserved", so there is very little room for us plebes), the views in both directions down the river are spectacular. It's on the 22nd floor, so you have quite a bit of elevation (compared to nearby "rooftop" bars. Definitely worth a stop if it's not too crowded. It's a beautiful hotel and property. The bar on the 21st floor (indoor) is a cool space, as well.

Highly overrated, don't waste your time

By LivinDeutch |

To be very clear, we absolutely loved our stay at the LondonHouse hotel ... this review is strictly about the Rooftop Lounge. We did not have a reservation, so went early at 4:45 pm to have an early birthday dinner for my husband. We were told we could have a table but only until 6:15 pm. Fine. They showed us to our table out on the patio and it was dirty and looked like it needed to be wiped off. Yes the views are pretty, but we had almost the same view just a few floors down from our hotel room. The table was made of a concrete material that was so hot sitting in the sun that we couldn't even rest our arms on it. We sat there for 10 minutes and no one ever came up and said hello, offered us a menu, or took our drink order. In the meantime, a guy at the table behind us went up to the hostess and told her that they'd been waiting 20 minutes and could she please send over a server. At this point, we left. We went downstairs to the Ocean Prime restaurant, where we were greeted with open smiles and told to stay as long as we wanted. Four amazing dinners, cocktails, and desserts later, we were so happy we left the rooftop and spent our money at a restaurant that appreciates their customers. After living in Las Vegas half my life, I can assure you that the Rooftop Lounge is a flash in the pan ... with poor service and arrogant attitudes about their "hot spot", they'll never last.

Absolutely Beautiful View but the Music was a bit Loud

By Karen B |

It's more like a nightclub with a gorgeous view. I really enjoyed the beautiful view of the city and the drinks were lovely but it was ruined by the very loud music that made it difficult for us to enjoy the rest of the evening. I guess if I was younger it would have been awesome. :)

My friends and I went up to the rooftop bar on a busy afternoon. April was so accommodating and was able to seat us promptly! We had a great experience! Thank you, April!

London House Rooftop

By Sarah H |

My friends and I meet in Chicago every year for an annual girls trip. We have been to London House on two of these trips. We came back due to the amazing view and experience we had the first time. We especially loved our waitress, Svetlana, and Martin. Svetlana made amazing suggestions for us with the food and drinks. Martin was also there to fill up our waters and ensure we had everything we needed. They are quality staff who made us feel special and taken care of the entire night. The manager was also great, as we needed some assistance with some other patrons. We will definitely be back. It was a great view, atmosphere, food, drinks, and staff. I cannot say enough good things about London House Rooftop.

Beautiful views, excellent service, great food!!

By Moj |

LH Rooftop is hard to get a reservation and is packed on the daily - for good reason! What an incredible view paired with some great drinks and food. We had the pleasure of being served drinks and food from Dawn at the bar. Some of the best service we have ever received - her enthusiasm towards the restaurant, the city of Chicago, and her mastery bar tending was the cherry on top of our trip. If you are planning on visiting Chicago, I highly recommend you take the time go to LH. Make sure you make a reservation well in advanced!

Outstanding view with casual seating

By AvaE27 |

This is a great place to head up to the rooftop for a free view of the city. Just choose rooftop from the options on the elevator guide. There are signs once you get to the 21st floor to take you up. The views once you get up there are spectacular. We loved seeing the bridges, boats and water taxis along with the skyscrapers. There are many comfortable seating areas and casual spots to hang out. There’s also a restaurant bar below if you want to spend the evening.

AMAZING

By Matt C |

Again - I had no idea what we were doing when our sister in law recommended we go in here and up to the top floor. Immediately you are swept up into the unbelievable views while you sit comfortably at tables and chairs or on couches. There was no wind up there and the sun felt great. We ordered some drinks and yes, they are pricey but you pay for the view. Will definitely go back here.

A hot Friday Afternoon

By dmtwohill |

It was almost too hot to be on the LH rooftop when we visited. The bar was very comfy, drinks were good, cool temp of air conditioning. Nice afternoon.

Good food with a great view

By Madeleine L |

My husband and I went here with my in-laws recently, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The view is definitely the number one reason to go here, however the food is quite good, although it is a bit expensive for what you're getting. In my opinion, you're paying for the spectacular view, great service, and a nice relaxing ambiance as much as you are for the food so I had no issue with the high price point.

Incredible view, terrible drinks

By Tena C |

We knew ahead of time that the drinks at LondonHouse rooftop were overpriced for what you were served. So no surprise there. They definitely don't serve top shelf liquor and at $18 per small drink, you'd expect more. However, you aren't paying for the drinks. You are paying for the view and the price of admission is well worth it. We booked our reservation to time it from dusk to full dark. YES, you need a reservation even in this pandemic world. People were lined up trying to get in who had no reservations on a weekday. All tables are reservation only. Even though the drinks were sub par, I'd return to LondonHouse rooftop again to soak in the view.

Top Notch

St. Patty’s Day 2017

By SPR2CS |

A group went to watch the Chicago River dyed green for St. Patty’s day🍀 and my birthday. We decided to get a few cocktails at the roof top bar. Mike Lowry made our visit to the London House the highlight of our day. He was so kind and went above and beyond of his way to make sure our experience was special. 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀 Shamrocks for the London House and Mike.

Do not waste your money

By Hamidreza R |

I spent a lot of money booking this place to visit the rooftop. The security and the staff were very disrespectful and did not let us go up at 10:15 pm, telling us we were late and we probably had “better things to do”. They talked in a arrogant humiliating manner. They did not let us visit for a couple of pictures even early in the morning. I talked to two managers about the situation and the attitude of the security but no action was made. If you want to book this place to visit the rooftop, do not waste your money.

Assaults the ears but pleases the taste buds

By desrlmt |

If you’re dining at LH on 21, bring your earplugs. “Noisy” is a too tame word, “jet engine” is more apt. Not that this is all bad. My wife and I are oldsters who like the palpable energy generated by youngsters. The issue at LH is its being over the top. But LH scores high in other ways, starting with its hip, sleek, ultra mod appearance and ambiance. Its imposing bar dominates the scene from all views and correctly conveys the message that cocktails and wines are the most luminous stars of the LH show. Service is a weak point, owing to its being so crowded most of the time--management needs to spring for more servers. As to the food, three points: First, the menu is quite limited. Second, exotic ingredients are pervasive—this is NOT your grandma’s comfort food. Third, everything we had was super delicious: creatively prepared, attractively presented, superbly tasty. Oops, I miscounted: Fourth, it’s not cheap, although I would argue it’s worth the prices charged. My advice: Go to LH without a budget in mind; in other words, as a splurge. But don’t forget the earplugs.

Rooftop Bar

My cousin suggested I visit the LH Rooftop Bar while in Chicago. I was instantly greeted by April, who was very accommodating! The food was delicious, and the views were breathtaking! I highly suggest visiting this gem.

Nice view

We had no issue with service as we arrived before the crowds on a Monday night (6pm). It was a good experience

Best hostess ever!

By Gina G |

Thank you to Natasja, best hostess ever for getting us an amazing table even without a reservation. Can’t believe how well we were taken care of at such a busy place, she went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy! Had an incredible time. Thank you so much

Rooftop and the location were beautiful and amazing. Manny was fantastic and helpful. Only problem was the photographer that Manny said was included was absolutely horrendous. Super late on photos, pics weren't even good, and unprofessional

Request Shab!

By Terry T |

I wanted to write this review to tell anyone and everyone visiting the London house rooftop/restaurant to request Shab as your server! My husband and I dinned inside since the rooftop wasn’t open yet (March is still freezing in Chicago!) but Shab offered to take us up and give us a full tour for our next visit this summer! Needless to say the views were amazing and we can’t wait to come back! I told Shab I love tiki drinks and she recommended the snowbird. It was similar to a mai tai but with passion fruit flavors. SO GOOD! For dinner, I again took Shab up on her recommendation, the birria ramen. She did not steer me wrong! It was amazing, I already know what I’m ordering in July! Shab was attentive, great energy, very timely, and had the best recommendations! I just had to share my experience and let everyone know Shab will make sure you have an evening of a lifetime! Thank you again LH!

Great spot..perfect views!

By Suetime |

The London House definitely has some of the best views in the city. It is a great location right at the Michigan Avenue bridge and is probably one of the reasons it is so busy....especially on a beautiful day. April was the hostess and did a great job of getting us a table so we could celebrate my birthday. Ashley, our waitress, also did a great job...even brought me a little birthday treat! you can reserve a table to avoid some of the issues but what do you expect when it is such a terrific spot! Go in the early afternoon if you also want to avoid some of the late night crowd. Thanks ladies for a nice afternoon.

10/10 best rooftop

By Maps29594781550 |

My friends and I went to the rooftop to grab some drinks and chill out for the night. Big props to Marcus Terry and Juan Carlos for providing a great experience. 10/10 would recommend for a girls night out or if you just want to grab a drink by yourself.

Rude bar manager.

By Eric m |

Friends from out of town booked this so I joined them. I was photographing the city from the rooftop bar before much harassment from the staff. I was told I needed to pay a $500 fee to use my camera. At $450 a night o believe that is more than enough. The front desk told me a different story. They said there is no such fee. We won’t bother with them again. No one needs that kind of attitude and lies from the staff. Either the front desk was wrong or the bar manager is full of it. There is an iPhone shot. You can just as easily sell that.

Good service and best views

By Summerasalifestyle |

Killer views of city, river, etc. Reasonable prices. Crowded consistently. Lotsa young 20 somethings mixed in with older people (like me). Forget getting a seat or perch along the edge unless you get there before 4pm on a weekday...much earlier for weekends. Reasonably quick service.

Brilliant views but average drinks and service

By Chris K |

We really enjoyed the nightime views of the city on this rooftop bar. The cocktails we ordered were ok but quite small so not the best value for money. Also lots of private parties and roped off areas (on a Wednesday) so we struggled to take pictures without being asked to moved back from the area even though nobody was actually in the roped off area. We didnt stay too long as there was not much space we could stand in comfortably and no tables available but the view of the city is really good.

Spectacular views!

By Pix |

Everyone talked about LH rooftop so we went for a drink and the view but ended up having a meal or two. This place has spectacular views and delightful cocktails. Food was so so, not much to choose from but still OK on an empty stomach! Appetizers came after the meal tho… the service was amazing. The vibe was great more like business-y! But overall it was a wonderful experience. I’ll be back! Make a reservation in advance this place was packed! I’d recommend to family & friends.

Cocktails with a view!

By jonflores1982 |

We decided to go here for a few cocktails while getting a view of the river walk and the Chicago skyline. Weather was perfect that night around 75 degrees, however not much of an atmosphere. There was no music so we were literally just there hanging out and not to mention cocktails run between $15-$20.

Beautiful Views. Great Drinks. Must See Spot!

By Amy S |

Stopped in to enjoy the gorgeous weather and what better spot than the LondonHouse Rooftop!! Beautiful views of the city. Tasty drinks. Had a great time thanks to Dawn who was fun, friendly, shared great ideas for our visit and made excellent drinks!! Highly recommend if you’re in Chicago.

Fantastic rooftop bar with great views

By Lisa S |

The 22nd floor ourdoor terrace at the LondonHouse Hotel is a fantastic rooftop bar experience with great views along the Chicago River. We enjoyed lunch there with cocktails and great views. The shrimp cocktail and Filipino skewers were very tasty. Get a reservation to get in to the rooftop. You won't regret it.

An Unforgettable Evening at London House's Rooftop Restaurant,

By Kaya J |

During my visit to London House, I had the privilege of dining at their breathtaking rooftop restaurant, where Ana, a delightful and attentive hostess, provided exceptional service. The stunning views of the city's skyline, coupled with Ana's warm and welcoming demeanor, added an extra touch of charm to the dining experience. With her extensive knowledge of the menu and genuine passion for hospitality, Ana ensured that every moment was memorable, making it a truly remarkable evening that exceeded all expectations.

Incredible Food for a Special Event at the LH Rooftop Restaurant

By Jessica S |

I scheduled a 20 person dinner for a very high profile conference including attendees from all of the Ivy League Universities/Colleges across the United States. The London House Rooftop Bar Restaurant, specifically Jake Verstegen (Executive Chef), Victoria Grady (Catering Manager) and Danielle Wyatt (Banquet Captain) did an excellent job of creating a one-of-a-kind Chicago experience for our conference attendees. They worked with us to create a diverse and delicious set menu that accommodated the dietary needs of our attendees. The food was exceptional, with the steak, scallops, chicken and gnocchi cooked to perfection. Our attendees raved about both the menu and the view! No detail was missed. Thank you, London House team for creating a truly unforgettable evening.

5 star review

Natwas ready and willing to meet my every need she really makes the bar run smooth for her . Nattie is like the MVP of my dining experience and her knowledge whiskey untouchable. Also she is absolute delight to be around . Dusab is very down to earth his ability to connect to the guest is impeccable and it speaks highly of his character

Too Pretentious

By Diane K |

We went here for restaurant week and was extremely disappointed with the experience. The portions were miniscule which is understandable if the flavor is there but in this case the flavor wasn't. Service was spotty and we were glad we caught that they mistakenly overcharged us. Definitely, a one and done for us.

Fantastic view and friendly service!!

By Daveg1207 |

Our group went to the rooftop and was amazed at the views of the river and the city! The hostess, April, was amazing!!! She was so accommodating and really went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of! Super enjoyable and a definite must if you are visiting the city!

Minus degree.

By Boburbek A |

The first time in Chicago and on the day I am disappointed from one of “best” rooftops here. I found out a lid of soda in my iced beverage. Shame on you. Please, check double before you get any drinks.

Fantastic view along the river, Prices!!

By John W |

Everyone is welcome, you don't have to be staying at the hotel. The bar is on two levels, one clearly not being the actual roof top bar! When you enter you can see that they are trying to make this a very exclusive bar. On the roof top bar itself there are segregated areas which are roped off and clearly signed just so you know who is who! We have traveled the world including places such as Monte Carlo, Cannes and the Riviera so are use to being in and seeing this. We did laugh at the amount of people who entered these areas then didn't hang around long after having a drink. If you chose not to go into these areas then the middle bar is for you. It is quite packed with not a lot of seating so you might have to wait a bit to get served. Food and drinks are without a doubt expensive. The views along the river are brilliant during the day and even more so during the night. Would highly recommend a visit to the top for a drink and a look. You only live once so treat yourself.

The view is why you should visit

By Stef4115 |

I’m giving this an excellent for the view and the wait staff. The view is pretty incredible and was very much a pleasure to behold. Our waitress was friendly and pleasant, and our orders were brought in a timely manner. What I didn’t realize about this place is that it’s basically a tapas bar made to share food... there are no full meals with sides and a main portion of something. We had the flat bread (good), the truffle fries, which everyone else loved, and I thought just tasted like fries sprinkled with truffle salt, the wings (good), and crab bites (very small) and the oysters, which were very very small, and I’m told “fresh frozen”. Being from the east coast, I am used to nice sized oysters. So, overall, the food was from good, to just sort of ok. But the view... WOW. I would definitely visit again for drinks, but I think I would make a reservation elsewhere for dinner.

Most beautiful view in Chicago!

By Lisa K |

Wow! From the moment we walked in April was absolutely amazing! She greeted us with a big smile, answered all our questions and got us an amazing table! Highly recommended in fact it’s a must do! Thank you April at LH22!

You won't be getting up to the roof deck

By susanmR5816RO |

Beautiful hotel in terrific location. King corner room had gorgeous river view looking out toward the lake and across the river. Room was spotless and bed was comfortable. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was because it boasted a top-rated roof deck. We were told when we arrived that we needed reservations to go up there but they were booked through the end of July! We were there June 10-14. The snobbish woman who "guarded" the elevator to the roof deck told us we couldn't even go up to take a look at the view without a reservation--and all of the restrictions for capacity had been lifted. It was apparent that Chicago residents were the ones taking up the reservations, not those paying top dollar to stay in the hotel because they knew to book ahead. We heard many other guests voicing their disappointment with the situation. Hotel guests should have first crack at the roof deck not last call. The television was very hard to operate and we had to call for help twice. Still very hard to get it working. There was no outdoor dining at breakfast, even though all the restrictions had been lifted as of June 11.

Unreliable and uncaring

By Ryan |

We had a poor experience at the London House Halloween party. After paying an exorbitant amount of money for a table and bottles, the party that was clearly indicated as going from 8pm to 2am (on the website, the tickets, everywhere) abruptly ended at 1am, with lights turned on, music turned off, and services stopped. The "bouncer" was arrogant, aggressive, unhelpful and unprofessional. His excuse was that they were closing early because nobody was there. We still had half a bottle of tequila remaining that we had paid for with the expectation that we still had an hour left, and his solution was that we would have to do shots to finish it and leave immediately. He threatened our party, escalated events unnecessarily, and was the initiator of physical force to remove everyone from the bar. The bottom line is that we paid a large amount of money for a service that was clearly defined, and that service was unilaterally altered post-contract and ultimately not fulfilled. When we brought that to the attention of the management, there was no apology, no concessions or reimbursement - they treated it as if we were in the wrong. This is obviously not a good way to treat or gain/maintain customers - we will take business elsewhere in the future and won't be returning to London House. We would advise anybody who is considering London House for an event or party to seriously reconsider - it is a nice venue, but there wasn't anything that stood out as special, unique or impressive with the bar or the party, and therefore not worth the risk of having your event changed without warning when there are plenty of other similar options around the city. We did give one additional star rather than the lowest rating as our waitress was very nice, helpful and attentive, and LH reservations was responsive and helpful through email prior to the event.

Great customer service and fabulous views!

By S3509VYjacquelines |

I cannot say enough about how great the customer service is. The food was really good - but you can get good food at many places. What you often cannot find is people who genuinely enjoy and take pride in their work. This joy and pride shines through in the product - in this case food and beverage. You also would be hard pressed to beat the view and the amazing cupola.

Amazing Views, beautiful location

By Lisa M |

We just went in for a couple of appetizers and a couple of drinks and had an amazing experience. Thank you Eric for going above and beyond for us Monday evening. This is a terrific location!

Friday evening drink

By Josien_Dennis |

We stopped by for a drink to enjoy the view. It was mid-late April and was one of first days with some sunshine. Bar didn’t had all drinks available that were on menu. But view over the city is really beautiful and nice terrace. Worthwile to step by for a drink.

Go for the view

By IAN D |

Superb location for a rooftop terrace overlooking the river and the great skyline of Chicago. Certainly not the cheapest place you will ever go and a place to be seen.

Thank you Mauricio

By Martin |

Very nice Bar with a great view. Mauricio was an amazing bartender who did provide us with great cocktails. His performance behind the bar is unique!

Horrible!!!!

By Amjr2009 |

I was put in the waitinf list and they never called me back. They did t even bother to tell me if I was able to get a table or not. Worst service ever

Superior service & experience

By KittyChick |

While visiting Chicago we joined friends who live here. They recommended the LondonHouse Rooftop for drinks and dinner. The view was out of this world, and the drinks were creative and delicious. The food was good, and portions ample. The real standouts for the evening were our server Lily and Tony who did a fantastic job of keeping bar patrons from crowding our table. He was respectful, yet persistent. His presence made our meal so much more of an enjoyable experience. Lily was attentive and exceeded our expectations. In this climate of declining customer service, these two gems were real stand-outs!

Reso

By Gaby D |

I made a reservation here a couple days ago, and let's just say CHOOSE OTHER SPOTS! Some host literally gave my table to someone else knowing I had a reservation and I have ALL PRIORITY TO GET IT FIRST! She was rude, she didn't know how to talk to people THEN when we wanted to move down inside the restaurant she didn't even know what she was doing, HOWEVER!!! Huge huge shoutout to two other hosts that were able to help me indoors and outdoors with a beautiful view and that was Grace and Cedric! They were able to give me a cozy spot indoors and a beautiful spot by VIP. These two were amazing!

Ok place to have a drink

By littlejohn |

Thursday night visit and was expecting a little more. Service was pretty lacking. Needed to go to bar while at a table; waited forever while at the bar. We had 6-8 people in our group so drinks were flowing. Ended up going someplace to else to spend the money.

Racist

By Matt W |

Racist. Not a place for black folks. Me and my wife came in for our anniversary and were chased down, racially profiled, and kicked out when confronted.

Best rooftop bar in Chicago that I've been to

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

Great indoor and outdoor areas. The outdoor area has amazing 270 degree views of downtown, the river and the lake. Friendly service, we went right before happy hour on a week day and there was no problem getting a seat. Just a really cool rooftop. Highly recommend it. Prices are a bit higher than average.

Spectacular Views

By MRSTRAVELLER1 |

Wowza, Chicago isn’t short on big boy buildings with great views, but as many guide books advised, this is one of the best, my favourite vista being over the river, photo attached. The rooftop looked especially pretty in December, being decked out for Christmas. Bit of a scrum getting a drink, but definitely a worthwhile visit.

Best view in all of Chicago!!

By Michael J |

Everyone from the front desk staff, Concierge (Shannon), Rooftop managers (Eric & Cedric) to housekeeping are top-notch! The rooftop bar is among the top two in all of Chicago and will always be my favorite thanks the the amazing managers, Eric (GM) & Cedric (mgr). I doubt I'll ever stay at another hotel.

Amazing View!

By RealtOr30 |

It’s all about the view and that is 5 stars. It is a 3 level rooftop deck. It is very crowded and noisy at times. The drinks and food are good but pricey. The view is well worth it!

We went for a lunch with my mom and daughter. The views were beautiful but before our meal came they decided to blast some weird music from the speakers. The music was so loud that we could no longer hear each other. We asked them to turn it down but they wouldn’t and instead moved us to a different table. It was better but odd that they wouldn’t turn down the music. It was a Wednesday afternoon lunch, not a Friday for drinks. My mom loved her food. The other two meals were so so.

That river !

By I_dont_know_0 |

Coolest views of the river . Nice atmosphere. Pretty hot on a sunny day. Ideal would probably be during sunset. Certainly a spot worth checking out if you want to see the river . Hotel seems nice too!

Great Service

By April C |

Attended LH21 for a birthday dinner and we had an amazing time. Our server Adam was the best, surprised us with a birthday treat. The icing on the cake was Aaron the food runner. He heard us talking amongst ourselves about a food mistake and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. It was the smallest thing that made a huge impact!

Off night at the bar?

By T S |

We had just arrived in town and wanted drinks with a view. It was Thursday evening and the 21st floor bar was very poorly staffed with unfriendly service on the rooftop. Drinks had to be sent back as they were mixed in error or martinis served in champagne glasses.......unthinkable for a highly rated supposed hot spot. Not worth the hype.

Rooftop bar shady accounting

By AndrewReese |

Had a couple bottles of Champaign. Went to pay the bill and the waitress said "your card is not working". Which is strange because my AMEX has no limit. So I gave a different credit card. Signed my tab at the end of the night for around 1400. The next day, I noticed an 1881 charge...then two 394 dollar charges. So I checked my other card (the one the waitress said wasn't working) and she ran about 2400 through on that card. So for a 1400 dollar tab, they ran a little under 5,000 dollars total So I tried calling the club and left voicemails and nobody responded. I called their bookkeeping office and left messages...no response. So I started calling the GM Juan Leyva of the hotel, for three weeks. No response. They left me no other option but to dispute the charges. The bar there is fine, decent view outside. But the customer service for what is supposed to be a high end bottle service club/hotel is a joke. I will never return there. There are too many places in Chicago to have to tolerate nonsense like that. I expect this from a low rent dive bar. We won’t ever go back.

Highly recommend it

By Suntraveler2013 |

This rooftop bar is in a great location. The views are incredible. The service was excellent. Overall I highly recommend this place. It’s a must, when you’re visiting Chicago.

drinks and appetizers

By Joseph P |

The space is very nice to meet up with friends, but the place is so busy that the staff can not handle the crowd. The drinks were small for the price and the appetizers were fair. Come for the space and the view, but don't stay long.

Just the Wines This Visit!

By The_Loup_Garou |

I discovered the LH Rooftop Bar on our very first stay at the LondonHouse, and have returned on nearly every visit after that. The venue is lovely, with several areas (some of which are gorgeous in the late Spring, through early Autumn), but on this cold, February day, I stayed inside - which is also lovely, sans the great views of the Chicago skyline. I arrived, just as they opened, and set out to do an impromptu wine tasting, something that I had done in the past. I decided on the: Rams Gate Carneros Napa Chardonnay Fv, Les Contours De Deponcins Viognier - Vin De Pays D’Oc Jordan Russian River Chardonnay Occidental, Freestone-Occidental #21814 MDK – Motor City Kity Syrah ‘16 The wine list is not long, but has many interesting wines, and fewer of “the usual suspects,” than I expect to see in a hotel bar/restaurant. Other than the Jordan RR Chard, I have only run into the other wines here - sitting at this very bar! Service was a bit slow to begin, but the bartender was just setting up for the day, so I cannot blame her. Once setup was complete, and I was picking my third wine, we had time to discuss the wines, and wines in general. While the bartender knew her spirits better, she was eager to learn a bit more about wine, and even the wines she was serving. I sort of set up a “classroom,” with a willing student, and had a great time. As the lunch crowd filtered in, she had to break, but always came back, and I sipped, and talked. I hope that the bartender had as much fun, as I did, and hopefully expanded her knowledge, and whet her appetite for nice wines a bit. In all, a wonderful diversion, in a friendly bar, especially when it was frigid outside, and I did not have to leave the building. In the past, I have had some of the bar-bites, and found them to be good, but not this time - just the wines in February. I will be back, and will likely nosh on the small-plates, but my visit will again be focused on the interesting wines in the B-T-G selections.

The view was great the crowd(numerous times) was disgusting

By LynnM112017 |

I have been to Chicago many times and always decide to give a chance to this place. The view is amazing but the crowd is always unbearable. I don't know why this nice place attracts such badly dressed, with terrible manners, loudly speaking crowd. Never stayed more than 5 min.Always hoped to see better clientele and finish my drink....well because of the view and location...and always left disappointed.

Visit the roof top but forget the drink

By brimborion |

The view is obviously awesome !! But the staff ( not enough bartenders even for a Wednesday night ... so forget Saturday’s !!) doesn’t welcome you : - no service on the roof top in May !! Take your drink upstairs : diy!!... - you can’t approach the bar for 15 mn : be patient !!!. - and when eventually you got your drinks ... the girl who was so busy that she couldn’t help you suddenly find some time to chase you in the stairs and to accuse you not having paid ... without asking the bartender!! Enjoy the view but forget the drink

Understaffed & Overcrowded!

By Lara L |

We brought some friends from the west coast the the LH rooftop bar. While the views were great, it was overcrowded. The lines to get a drink at the bar were long. The bartenders worked hard but I think there were only two behind the bar. The few servers I spotted walking around looked beaten down and unenthusiastic. I finally made eye contact with one gal, hoping she would ask me if I needed a beverage, but she just moved on with a glazed look in her eyes. It was a disappointing time altogether. LH, if you are reading this, you need to staff more servers and please try to work on a little better customer service. We would've easily spent twice as much money there if we could only have ordered a second drink from...ANYONE.

No fans?

By smiller560 |

How can you not have fans? It was hot but to not have fans doesn't make sense. Service was okay. Staff seems uppity and not real personable. Prices are high but you're paying for the view. Many other bars go and try them first before here.

Don’t take your camera, unless it’s a phone

By Kerstin H |

While the view is great, I was very much taken aback by having my camera confiscated in the bar lobby before allowed to go up. Are “old fashioned” actual DSLR cameras that weird these days?

Great view but could use an update

By Dave D |

Great view and good drinks (and about the price you’d expect), but the decor seemed a little dated, and it was pretty crowded. There were also a lot of bees flying around, so we only stayed for one drink.

Great view

By Larry Heim |

This was our first stop in Chicago. The day was extremely hot but we had a table in the shade. The frisse salad with cured salmon was excellent as was the cubano. And the view?

Food Was Notable

By Robert S |

Planning to be in town for a day and was looking for something different to eat. A couple of items on the menu had interest. We both tried the Shrimp & Scallop Ceviche, as well as sharing the Mezzo Plate, added 2 orders of the lamb links . All were notably good and highly recommend. Should note this was a bit too much food for 2 people. Service was good. Note, LH I n 21 Indoors has no/very limited view and little atmosphere, at least in the afternoon. If seated to the left of the entrance, there's restroom traffic from both the Interior and outside facilities.

High Tea for 30th Anniversary

By Linda K |

High Tea at the London House was everything I could have hoped to experience. The treats both sweet and savory were extraordinary. Michelle made it perfect with her service and knowledge. She explained each aspect of the event so that we could enjoy every single minute of our 2 1/2 hour celebration. The setting of the room made it that much more special to look over the Chicago River and enjoy each other's company. Thank you, Michelle-you are awesome!

Bad experience

By MonicaM_11 |

I went to the London House rooftop for a special occasion and, on the contrary, it was a disaster. As soon as we arrived, we found a crowd of people in the lobby waiting to be able to access the elevator. Nobody respected the safety distances and some were without a mask. A situation in which, in this period of Covid pandemic, I felt very much in danger. After waiting quite a while, the gentleman at the reception finally let us up. Upon arriving on the rooftop the view was breathtaking. Really amazing! This state of wonder and joy lasted a few seconds. Our table was viewless, close to the bar in a horrible position, and quite small for 4 people. Having booked over a month ago and having been assured that it would be a table with view, I found it unprofessional. But I tried not to get angry so as not to ruin my evening. The waiter was kind, but the waiting times were so so long. The food was really nothing special. The French fries were cold and dry, the vegetarian burger was tasteless and the brownie tasted old. A gentleman that was at the entrance of the restaurant (not sure if he was the manager or a security guard) treated us in an extremely rude way only because we wanted to take a picture near the balustrade. He claimed we were not at a safe distance from another table. Simply ridiculous, because for the whole evening dozens of people walked around the roof, near the tables, also our table, without a mask. I was truly frustrated and angry. I have eaten in restaurants all over the world and have NEVER been treated like this. I would have accepted the remark if it had been done politely. But the tones and manners of the “gentleman” were really rude. In conclusion, what was supposed to be a special evening ended with disappointment and anger. Not what I expected. Given the incredible beauty of the location it is really a shame that the restaurant staff, do not take absolutely care of all the other aspects that make a restaurant a place where you enjoy being. We will never go back.

Ok food, average service

By sue k |

Our server was friendly, but the flatbread we had was burnt, and the chicken thigh sandwiches were average at best; they lacked flavor despite a number of fancy descriptors for ingredients. Our party of 4 spent just over $100 for lunch, which did not include alcohol or other beverages. Go for the view, but skip the food—there are better choices close by.

Sunday Funday !!

By Mel |

Amazing views from the rooftop! Definitely recommend this rooftop especially after going to Cindy’s! Service was wonderful! Dawnne and Steve made my last few hours I’m Chicago unforgettable! Will definitely come back next time I’m visiting Chicago!!

You go for the view

By Kelly D |

We brought our kids there for dinner on the Fourth, as my husband and I are huge fans of the LondonHouse. You go for the view, not the food. It is very pricey and the menu can be challenging for kids. If you plan on taking teens or younger there, I'd advise booking on OpenTable and getting a table prior to 7. After 7, it turns into quite a scene. Also, with a table you will be out of the bar area and not have people bumping into you every 5 seconds. It is truly an amazing view and worth having drinks/appetizers

Friday Night

By becerril21 |

This is a narrow and small rooftop. I cannot speak of drinks or prices because I didn't get to order from the bar, due to the place being so crowded, barely space to stand or walk around. I visited this place on a Friday night and there's a long line at the elevator in the lobby. They did ask for my ID and I did not make a reservation for a table.

views , views, views

By european1991 |

Amazing sunset and wonderful views from here of the river. Just came to experience the ambiance of the city. Drinks are not cheap but the view is worth it. Quite crowded and long line for the terrace bar.

loved the view but the service was bad!!!

By kim b |

checked into hotel went up for lunch and drinks... was told that we could be sat in a spot on end only for an hour and half and we said perfect..."how long could a little lunch take?" ugh.... a long friggin time! took half hour just to get a drink! we were enjoying the super view but jeeze we were getting loopy waiting on food which was never ordered we figured then it was wrong and we were running late for the rest of our day too! our food was terrible and we had to beg to pay our bill so we could leave... no sorries, no nothing and it cost us like 140bucks for this insult! just drink there!

The view is amazing at night

By SET1976 |

You need to go... at night. The view is amazing. The drinks were good. I didn’t order any food. We were there for the view and ambiance and it did not disappoint.

The view tho 😍

By Donalda P |

Great place to hangout (even on a Monday morning). Natasja Brown was our hostess and she surely met our needs.

Horrible Experience!!

By Parisa M |

Stayed at the hotel for two nights and had a wonderful experience. However, we had a brunch reservation for 11am Saturday. We arrived at 10:55am. After being turned away at the hostess stand, we waited at the elevator until we could be seated. Within a 5 minute span, we had 5 different individuals tell us the restaurant was not opened until 11am. I told each person, I don't want to go down the elevator just to return again less than 4 minutes later. When the 5th individual approached us at the elevator lobby area, we got very frustrated. She was very disrespectful, as the others were. She told us the restaurant is not open until 11.... I replied "Its 10:58...." At 11am on the dot, she offered to seat us but at this point we were waiting for the elevator ride down because we were so offended by the rude staff.

Christmas brunch

By Simran |

We came here for brunch at lobby level really. Service was super slow. Even to get a glass of water they would take 30 mins. One Order would take more than an hour. To bring a check they would take another 30 mins. And the worst of all is the manager. Upon raising the concern her reply is you can see its not just you here. You should be more understanding. She couldn’t be more pathetic. I have been at my many hilton hotel before but never came across such person. The least they could do is give a heads up that there will be a delay or not accommodate any further guest. Management really needs to work on the staff esp on this manager

So glad we went

By Thomas G |

A friend recommended the LH Rooftop and we’re so glad we went! Definitely a highlight of our trip: amazing view, great drinks and THE BEST service. Rachel made our day and showed us the best time. Not only did she recommend delicious drinks, but helped us plan the rest of our day...Real hospitality!

Roof with a View - and surprising good starters/tapas

By traveltime841 |

The LH Rooftop clearly has a buzz to it, but unless you like crowds visiting at an off hour is best. We tried to come on the holiday Monday, but it was packed wall-to-wall; only partly due to the fact that the credit card machines weren't working so everything was cash only. We came back the next day at lunch to grab a drink at the bar, and the friendly bartender told us it was cash only due to the credit card machines still being down. After starting our drinks, we decided to have lunch there as well and got a table with a great view of the river and comfortable couches. The tapas / starters were surprisingly good, would recommend the carrots, scallops and chicken bao buns in particular (the latter are very messy so can't really eat with your hands). James provided friendly and unrushed service which was appreciated. We were able to charge the lunch to a credit card by filling out paperwork, which took a few minutes but was appreciated. Would definitely go back, but again would try to do at non-peak hours

LH22 a Must Visit

By hannahmarie1982 |

Amazing rooftop with stunning views. My friend and I went on a Monday night without a reservation and were able to walk in and hang out at the bar. Dawn the bartender was so friendly and nice too. The whole experience was 10/10!

Stay away from the sweet board

By Vince R |

After waiting forever for our first course, the food was not very tasty. It actually seemed reheated. The next course was just as bad, and the sweet course at the end consisted of m&m's, a Hershey bar cut into pieces, rice krispie trests, and some crackers and over ripe fruit. For $300 a couple I was at least expecting decent food. And they could have included some Godiva chocolates, at least. The only redeeming thing was the view from the rooftop. Definitely not worth the money that was spent.

Service is amazing!

By William E |

Came for St. Patrick’s day party - Great music, food, vibes. Our server Rachel is not only awesome but hilarious. Good service is rare, but not here at LondonHouse! Can’t wait for summer.

Great Views and Staff

By Blaire A |

We had a great time here. The views are excellent and the staff was super welcoming and accommodating. Gigi was a breath of fresh air, she chatted with us about the city and was helpful with any questions we had. We'll definitely be back!

Don't Expect Rooftop Seats

By DAJensen |

I have no idea what the hotel is like, but the rooftop bar is a place to be. I've visited other rooftop locations, but none as popular as this. On a Friday at 3pm, not only was there a waiting line on the ground floor for the elevator, there was no standing room on the rooftop for a drink. Reminded me of Las Vegas, including the heat on the rooftop. I must admit that I was happy not to find a seat or standing room as the heat at 3pm in July was unbearable. We opted to have a cocktail in the indoor attached lounge and were thrilled to cool off and enjoy our $16 beverage. Literally a "hot" spot - not sure what all the hype is about.

Terrible service, valet rummaged thru my car

By Wisc0214 |

My husband and I recently booked a reservation at the rooftop Lounge for a special occasion. The reservation process was great. No issue there. The views are spectacular, some of the best you'll find in the city. However, the service was terrible. The food order was messed up, a different tables order was brought to our table. The water glasses had lipstick all over them. Had to send them back. Our drink order took a very long time. At least 15 minutes. We waited about 10 minutes before we even saw server. Once we were ready to pay our bill, the server almost ran someone else's credit card on our bill, and ran our card on their bill. Everything was a mess upstairs. To make matters worse, we use the valet to park our car. We prepaid the spot in advance, and parking it was no issue, however retrieving our vehicle was a situation. The number they gave us to call in advance did not work. The operator for the hotel tried to patch me through to the valet directly, but no one answered the phone. Finally, we went downstairs and ask them in person if we could get our vehicle. They told us we should have used the phone number they gave us, because now we had to wait 15 minutes. No big deal we told them, but the phone number did not work. I get my car, the kid who picked it up in the valet rummaged all through it. I had closed the latch that goes over the top of my cup holder, which had a couple of receipts and little items in the cup holder. The valet had dug through it looking for cash probably, and all of the contents in the cup holder were spilled all over the car and it was open. They also went through my glove compartment, and left it open with the light on, so I knew it was them. I had made sure everything was closed up before I valeted my car because I didn't want anything out in the open. That's how I know when my car gets rummage through. This isn't my first rodeo with valet. the radio was blasting on a different channel I never listen to, and was cranked so loud, it startled me when I got into my vehicle and started it up. I am absolutely livid. Luckily, no valuables were in the vehicle, but this level of service is mind-blowing considering this is one of the Premier hotels in River North. Very disappointed.

Amazing Chef and Outstanding Service!

Took a trip to Chicago from San Diego and definitely glad we ended up at LH Rooftop for dinner one night. Chef Rob wowed our taste buds and service by Rachel made us feel so welcome. Plus, you can't beat the views of the Chicago River and amazing downtown skyline!

Too Stuck Up for Me!

By 319ellenp |

We attempted to go mid-afternoon on a Thursday, you know, before the after work crowd got there. The hostess told us it was first come first served seating, so we sat down as people were getting up from a small table (not in the back roped off area). Some one promptly came over and told us that table was "reserved", there was no sign. We tried to explain that the hostess said sit anywhere, but for lack of a better way to say it, that guy was an a$$. He didn't offer to help us find another table or get a drink while we waited or even say the hostess was mistaken. He was just rude. Anyway, we looked at the view and headed to a wine bar on the ground with friendly service. I don't need to pay for bad service and a view.

Go!!!

By Kdllv19 |

Go!!!! It’s the best rooftop bar I’ve been to! It’s all things amazing. Great food, cocktails, and a view like no other. Make reservations a day in advance to give yourself a better chance at a table (if you’re having dinner). It’s a solid spot, for sure!

Amazing customer and view

By Juan B |

Mauricio was amazing. Great customer service and amazing drinks. 10/10. When you got to LH Rooftop go see Mauricio!!

Crowded and expensive

By Dave |

You wait in line for this place, we hit on a corporate function so half the bar was roped off and the other half so full it was uncomfortable.... we didn’t really have a chance to appreciate the view before we were ushered downstairs only to find an ordinary bar with absolutely no view of the surroundings we paid 30 dollars for a Heineken and a vodka and coke. We left feeling robbed and disappointed.

Must stop by!!!

By Chris and Tami |

We took our travel guide suggestion and stopped by for a drink and then left. The roof top view is amazing and the drinks were enjoyable. But we were there for just over an hour as the crowd is buzzing about w/ large groups and everyone was really enjoying themselves. It's a great roof top bar, there there are quieter one around Chicago if that's your thing.

Some of the best views with some of the slowest service in town

By sm28185 |

The views were just as great as were hoping they'd be, but the service was painfully slow. Rather than try to come in the evening around sunset and wait forever in line behind everyone else with reservations, we tried our luck and succeeded by walking in and getting a table right away in the early afternoon. It definitely seemed as if there was only one person tending to all of the different tables, which led to us waiting 20-25 min between our interactions with the waiter. That being said, if there isn't a ridiculous wait to get in, it's absolutely worth checking out.

Lovely evening

By Kathy H |

I went here for the first time to enjoy some drinks. The view is spectacular. The vibe is great. The entire staff is outstanding, and a extra shout out to Shab for going above and beyond the top notch service. Her wonderful personality and amazing service made our experience even more comfortable and enjoyable. Our drinks were beyond delicious. We each ordered a different one off of the specialty menu and we all all felt that ours was the best. They were unique also, something I truly enjoy. Next, we decided to order several different appetizers. I've never had such an amazing experience in any sit down restaurant such as this. They were all absolutely amazing with the Jamaican jerk scallops that melted in our mouths being our number one favorite. We enjoyed taking in the views of the city, taking photo's, and relaxing on the couch. Again, I absolutely must mention Shab for making sure that we had a wonderful time, that we always had everything, never a moment did we wait for anything because somehow she was on it even from afar. Thank you Shab. We will be back. If you come to Chicago or live here and are looking for a nice rooftop experience I highly recommend LHRT. Just make sure that you call in far in advance, as reservations are required.

Great rooftop bar!

By iqaboveyours |

I had read reviews of rooftop bars in Chicago, the most popular one was The Signature bar, which i didn't manage to see. However, the LondonHouse hotel rooftop bar is in a far better location and the view is simply stunning. You have a great view of the chicago river and skyline in any direction. This is even more stunning at night. I noticed many people just going up to the 21st floor for the view, taking a few pictures and then leaving. I bought a drink, which was overly expensive but easily worth it for the view. This is a must for any visit to Chicago.

Amazing Service and Great Views at LondonHouse Rooftop

By Dhruvi P |

We had the pleasure of being served by Lilly, and she was fantastic! Her attention to detail and friendly demeanor truly elevated our experience. The views from LondonHouse Rooftop are absolutely stunning, making it a perfect spot to relax and take in the city. Highly recommend trying the truffle parm fries – they’re delicious! However, I wouldn’t recommend the mezze platter, as it didn’t quite meet expectations. Overall, it was a great time, and Lilly’s excellent service made it even better!

Flatbread and Wine for Lunch

By The_Loup_Garou |

This was my second visit to the Rooftop Bar in the LondonHouse Chicago Hotel. This time it was for lunch, during our October stay. As before, service was stellar, and very friendly. As I had just had a rather large breakfast, I settled for their Flatbread (Appetizer) with Oyster Mushrooms, and Preserved Lemon, Apple and Thyme Balsamic. This was very good, and rather large – I wished that my wife had not been in meetings, as she could easily have shared. The Flatbread had a wonderful char to it, so I assumed that it was done in an open Italian oven, but did not ask. I then went about doing an impromptu “wine tasting,” and that went on into the early afternoon. I toured the upper levels (partially closed for construction, during my first visit), with al fresco seating, another bar, and then the upper pavilion on the roof. None of those areas were open for business during lunch, and also the gloomy weather, but with the heaters on the patios, I imagine that they would be great, even on a cooler evening, or through the late Spring, Summer and early Autumn. The views are amazing, and the venues look both attractive and very comfortable. Unfortunately, our next visit will be in December, so I doubt that I will get to see those areas in full-swing then. Maybe we’ll be back in late-Spring, and we can experience it? A lovely late lunch, and fun wines B-T-G. I will be back!

The view was spectacular, the drinks were perfect, and the seating was grand! I can't wait to return to this one-of-a-kind Bar.

Terrible dinner at a dark and windowless indoor table

By Alr63 |

The website booking is very misleading, as the “book now” button from the rooftop section of the website takes you to the indoor restaurant reservation page without making it clear that it’s doing that. So I thought we had a rooftop reservation for our last night in Chicago, and we were looking forward to it the whole trip, but it was actually for the indoor restaurant, which is dark and windowless. I would never have knowingly chosen it over all of the other options in Chicago. The food was super greasy and dripping with oil, the service was so bad we were without anything to drink for much of our meal and it took a long time to get our check, We left as soon as we could and agreed it was the worst meal we had while in town. They said we could go out onto the roof after our meal to see the view as though it would make eating inside worth it, but we were staying at the hotel so could’ve just taken the elevator to the top for a quick look around, which I wish we would’ve just done instead. Very disappointing experience.

Great cocktails list. Particularly enjoyed the pineapple Paloma. Perfect city scape. Excellent service. Prices are a bit ridiculous but the drinks were stiff and views made it worth it.

Great view but you can get this at other places nearby...go to rooftop bar at Virgin hotel

By Rob B |

Wow, so bad.....great potential, lovely decor and great rooftop space but the staff! I genuinely can't recall having service that bad. Firstly there's no one to seat you so we walk in and as none of us have been there before we try and work out what to do - our first interaction with the staff is a guy barking at me telling me to go back to the host stand where I need to see him to be seated...jeez, how about just showing us a table and be nice? Then we order drinks, its Saturday and its busy and it takes some time to come, when it does my friends drink is wrong. He takes it up to the bar and interaction number two is a classic as well - "did you get it from the bar or a server....ah you need to go tell your server...." It was the easiest drink in the world to mix, not some outlandish cocktail but too much for the bar tender to cope with! When we eventually found our server it took over 15 minutes to get his drink back, which in the meantime we'd finished ours - here's classic interaction number 3 - when the server arrived with his drink and we were all empty we asked for another round, she then said that the bar was too busy and that it would take a while! Here's the only positive thing I have to say about this place - the bus girl who's aware of what's going on, goes over to the bar tender, tells him to get focused and give her the drink with a 1,000 times more tenacity and customer focus that the bar tender or server could ever muster in their lives - her name was Michala, she was awesome and deserves to be promoted into a job that rewards her personality and customer focus - if they don't promote her I'm going back and hiring her to work for me! Overall I couldn't recommend this bar, there are too many other great places to go in the city - the exact same view is available around the corner the virgin hotel rooftop and Ive always had a good time there.

Best spot to bring friends and guests for drinks and photos. Service is always good and consistent. If you happen to have Dawnne as your bartender you are in luck! She is so friendly and hilarious. My friends and I enjoyed getting to know her while having drinks. I had a guest from out of town and it definitely made her like chicago even more! Thanks Dawnne!!

Nice bar and good drinks

We wish the weather would have been better to be able to utilize the outside section of this bar. Very busy at night but a fun spot to gather. Make reservations if going at night and want to sit at a table.

Outrageous Manadatory Tip

By Lampoon Vacation |

Done, never again. I am a frequent guest at The Lindon House Roof Top. Beautiful views. I go for drinks and the view. Upon receiving my bill for 2 rounds of drinks I was told as many other there was a 20% gratuity added to my bill. No Recourse. I'm done. I had have a server adding 20% gratuity to my bill, that's MY CHOICE!

Roof Top Bar poor service

We were visiting Chicago for the first time and our friends recommend the Roof Top Bar at Londonhouse. Due to the great weather we visited the roof top bar and had to a) carry our own drinks up from the main bar b) we bought a bottle of fizz and were not offered a wine cooler! Appreciate the weather may have caught the hotel by surprise but to buy a $60 of fizz and have to carry it ourselves without a cooler isn’t great service! The view and roof top is amazing and we had a fantastic afternoon. May be do as others were on the afternoon we visited take your own drinks in!!!

Mediocre drinks

By Emily Mirjam |

We visited LondonHouse Rooftop Bar on a weekday. It was easy enough to get in and the ambience was nice. However, they did not allow us to order drinks at the bar as we had been seated at the tables. Instead we had to wait for someone to come to us and then call on a waiter to get the check. In what bar are you not allowed to order drinks... at the bar? With tax and tips, two mediocre drinks cost us over 40 dollars - whelp.

Amazing convos and drinks

Our servers Gigi and Messina were great at their jobs. We talked about life while getting amazing service. Go for the drinks and views, but keep going back for the amazing staff. I would recommend

Friday the 13th!

Took my daughter to the rooftop for her first legal drink in Chicago. Beautiful night, full moon, nice cocktails made for the perfect night out in the city. Big thanks to April, Kita and Joie for making it special!

It’s the views!

By 658alisond |

Worth going just for the views - they are amazing. Food was mostly good, except for the beef kebabs, they had the texture of tyres! A much smaller space than I expected, not many tables, so get your reservation in early.

Good

The place is beautiful. The drink and food were I little over price but were ok. We passed a good time the service wasn’t good and it was so hard to get a table. Great view. The ambience was great.Staff need to be more attentive.

The bar is sultry and energizing

Although you may have to wait to gain entrance, it is worth it. The views are awesome and the drinks strong. Great people watching too.

The View

By Deb H |

Have stayed several times at the London House hotel but never ventured to the Rooftop figuring it would be crowded when the weather was nice. We went on a beautiful Monday early afternoon. We were seated right away, ordered cocktails. They have table service or you can opt for open seating areas and walk up to the bar for drinks. Small food menu. The service was great and the views incredible

Great atmosphere, poor service

By Shampeu |

The view from this rooftop is exquisite. It was packed on a weekend night and had a great vibe. The Mezzo Plate was delicious, especially the lamb sausage, but needed to come with more bread. We asked for more but it came after we were finished with dinner. The crab rangoon had too little filling. The grilled shrimp cocktail was delicious and so was the cocktail sauce. Drinks took too long each time we ordered.

Great views

During our trip to Chicago we were trying to Stop every rooftop bar. This had by far the best view of the river and Michigan Avenue. Our only mistake was that it was chilly and we had been walking all day and did not have the right clothes on. We only stayed for a drink but everyone was having a great time. We came just before dusk and it was an incredible site to see the city go from dusk to dark as the lights came up along the river and a long Michigan Avenue. Well worth a stop to get a great city view.

City view?

By James B |

You say rooftop, I say basement. How can a rooftop bar seat you inside with no windows. Pictures of the view just won’t cut it.

Favorite Downtown Rooftop Bar!

By adrian a |

We went up to LH21 bar earlier this month with some co-workers. It's my favorite place to wind down after a long week at work or take to out-of-town friends/family for a good time. Rachel was our server. She was very welcoming and super patient with our indecisive selves, top notch service from beginning to end!!!!! I can't wait for the city to warm up so I can be out on the rooftop all summer long!

Amazing view

By 5FamilyOfFive5 |

The view is absolutely amazing. Food is pricey and very limited in quantity, but I guess you're paying for the atmosphere and the view. Would definitely go again. The only downside was the location of our table - people were crowding around us to take photos.

Premium Prices - Disappointingly Average Experience

By Naomi B |

I was very excited to experience LH rooftop and had planned this trip into my travel schedule for months. When I arrived at the hotel I went through to the elevator area, there was a short queue which went down quickly. However there were no security and nobody checking any form of ID. Arriving into the venue I attended the downstairs bar area and was served by a pleasant gentleman who helped with my wine selection. One glass of wine was $19, this is a price I expected as I am well travelled and a price tag that comes along with a luxury experience. However once I entered the upstairs rooftop area, I can only describe this as a cattle market. The area was extremely over crowded. Whilst I understand that reservations are advised, areas with seating were cornered off, meaning all 'walk-ins' were confined to a small area (see images attached). There are a lot of people and a lot of empty tables. The views of the city are lovely, when you can get space near the side to take any form of video. There were a notable amount of guests who had not bought any form of drink at the bar and were freely enjoying the views and experience, capturing that 'instagrammable' moment free of charge. This is infuriating for paying customers - like myself, who have paid extortionate prices at the bar and cannot enjoy the view. If you were planning on dressing up for the occasion, personally I wouldn't bother. There seems to be no dress code, door policy and incredibly low standards of clientele, including intimidating older males who make solo travellers like myself incredibly uncomfortable. There is lack of security and I feel it is a matter of time until somebody has their drink spiked. My recommendations to LH Rooftop: • Open out the restricted areas and reserved seating until the paying party arrives • Restrict the number of people in the upstairs rooftop area • ID, Bag check all customers • Stick to the 'smart casual' dress code you advertise • Additional security in the rooftop area • Ensure guests are actual paying customers - take a payment for entry on the door • Have your prices reflect the experience, as it stands I feel the drinks prices should be reduced by at least 20%. Alternatively provide a higher quality experience.

Service sucks

By Alina Montes |

I went here for Labor Day weekend and when we were on the rooftop it started to rain so they moved us inside. My friend and i sat down and were minding our business when one of the workers goes up to me and rudely says tj big guy is going to kick me out. I asked her why and she claimed she saw smoke by me and that she saw me put my vape pen away. I explained that I do not smoke and she kept harassing me and pointing at the African American “big guy” as she called him. I continued to tell her neither of us smoke and then she just stormed off to talk to another guy and ask him the same thing. I felt so uncomfortable because she was yelling at me in front of people I did not know. I ended up just leaving after this. She didn’t even apologize to me and she avoided eye contact with us afterwards.

Breathtaking Views w/ Great Service

By wclaybon79 |

I had initial contact with Emily, who assisted me with making the reservation. Our interaction was so pleasant and she made an effort to help me reserve the seat that I wanted. I wanted to ensure that I had a nice seat on the rooftop (this restaurant has indoor seating as well). When I arrived the day of my reservation, my seat was exactly where I'd want it to be. We had a great view of the skyline and Chicago River. The waitress and staff were attentive and knowledgeable about Gluten Free items on the menu as well! Overall, this restaurant offers a brilliant view and an interesting menu.

Ordered two vodka sodas with Tito’s and asked for an extra shot. Was presented with a bill, before tip, of $66. So many other places in the city provide a better view with drinks half the price!

Amazing service and ambiance

By LIsa B |

Everything about this venue is gold. We travel five star often and the service here still exceeded my expectation. If you’re at the bar and you miss Dawn you are at a huge loss, she’s phenomenal. She overheard my order and had it ready for me before I even ordered. 💫 And Eric took great care of us. Thank you both for your beautiful hospitality. 🙏🏼

Good but so issues for the Price

By Jaime C |

If you book this hotel for the view or for the Roof Top, with it’s one of the best views of Chicago, the hotel it’s Good but some issues,Serious issues as a Guest to use de Facilities of the Roof Top.

THANKS TO APRIL!!!

By Angie H. |

I had a made a reservation for the LH Rooftop and subsequently had to change the time. Somehow my reservation was never changed to the new time. Once we arrived and realized that they had the wrong reservation time, the manager tried to accommodate me and my five out-of-town guests but we were not happy with the compromise. April, the hostess, then stepped in and made it happen for us! We ended up with a nice table for six and had great service. If it wasn't for April, we most likely would have left cuz we didn't want to stand around a short table. So Thanks to April we had a marvelous night! Otherwise, this review would have been a little different!

Excellent food and views

By Erin F |

The food is amazing with unique twists on everyday foods and some unique treats to boot. Drinks are great, especially their signature champagne drink with strawberry purée- perfect for sipping while overlooking the Chicago skyline - one of the best views in the city.

Best nite in Chicago!!!

By Lmjsoos5 |

We are so lucky to stay in Londonhouse hotel by Hilton. It was our first time in Chicago and the rate was refundable and fair. Location was perfect too, very close to Riverwalk and Magnificent Mile. Another bonus was that hotel guests have a separate line for walk ins. I tried to book a dinner for Sat but it was already sold out like a week prior so I was glad to hear that I can still walk in and enjoy it. We joined the line at 5pm and maybe waited a total of 15 mins. The gentleman there was so polite and accommodating. We got a seat facing the Chicago river and TRUMP towers--OMG! Since it was cloudy earlier and we were not able to enjoy the LEDGE tour at Willis tower, the LH rooftop bar/restaurant really saved the day/night for us. We had a cocktail, yummy truffle fries and light dinner since we were still so full from lunch at Lou Malnatis deep crust pizza:) Our waiter was also polite and customized my drink since I like it a little sweeter. His service was top notch. We even saw the view of the sunset. LH rooftop will always be my favorite place during our visit and hoping to come back again to bring our young adult kids or friends. The atmosphere was romantic with amazing views, unique drinks and dishes. I also love the mellow but upbeat music and the Gazebo on the top-I think they use it for "engagement proposal" or special events.

Awful service

By Ben C |

Sadly we didn’t get to eat dinner here as on the day of our reservation at home 1pm we had an email (and nothing else) to say our reservation was cancelled. No context, no phone call. I had confirmed our reservation just one day earlier and had a reply from them to confirm they’d received it. I called them to see if it was an error and was told that there was a private function that had extended its end time so the whole venue was closed. Terrible ‘service’ - if I hadn’t checked my email we’d have turned up for dinner and been scrabbling around for a walk in alternative. Fortunately we’ve found a table at another nice restaurant nearby but I’m completely irritated at the stand offish way this was handled - surely a phone call from someone to offer an alternative would be deemed an essential element of customer service in this situation?! Apparently not. I’d suggest you steer clear.

Wine Tasting - With Flatbread Again

By The_Loup_Garou |

As we have been staying at the LondonHouse Chicago frequently, this was just another visit to the Rooftop Bar. For me, it was “lunch,” but I had consumed a large breakfast, so was there, when they opened, and did a wine tasting, instead of dining. However, based on previous visits, I decided to go from their “Appetizers” menu, and get the Flatbread (Appetizer) with Oyster Mushrooms, and Preserved Lemon, Apple and Thyme Balsamic, yet again. I started with a glass of the Jordan Russian River Chardonnay, and then move to the Occidental, Freestone-Occidental #21814, and finish with the MDK – Motor City Kity Syrah ‘15. Service was very good, and highly friendly, even when the bar/restaurant area filled up. I did do a “mini-tour” of the outside areas, including the upstairs, which seems to have been completed. While I only seem to visit the Rooftop Bar, during the day, I can imagine that in good weather, it is a “hopping place,” in the evenings. We will be returning, at least three more times, and I will find a way to spend the afternoons here.

Great View, Limited Menu, Sub par Drinks

By RJ1RJ |

If you want to have a drink at a place with a great view in Chicago, then this is the place. The best view of Chicago at night. Now be warned that if you don't have a reservation, you'll be disappointed. The food and drink price is high but that is expected. What is more disappointing is: the cocktail menu is very limited and the cocktails are subpar. The food menu is very limited and food is average.

Spectacular View!

By MWright |

One of the best views in the city however we were unable to enjoy outside because weather was below zero. We will definitely revisit when we can enjoy the view with warmer weather.

Came for the view- stayed because of the service

By laura j |

If you are staying at the property, you can get a table without much of a wait. The views of the city are the best and the staff makes you feel like a queen. It is not a cheap place to go, but it is very special.

Roof top

By Vanessa F |

I really enjoyed the service that the bar tender James gave us!!! The roof top is absolutely amazing !! It’s a great place to go to in Chicago that everyone should check out when they get a chance. James definitely made the experience!

Worse experience ever

By nada z |

Horrible food and service. My steak came cold , fries cold and oily . The host very arrogant and rude . Waitress doesn’t even care . I’m not sure why it is very popular . Chicago has much better bar lounges than this . I wish I didn’t it choose it for a cozy Birthday dinner . It was really bad .

LH Rooftop Woes

By Jennifer P |

Dustin Berk - manager- was beyond rude, refused a glass for wine claimibng policy was plastic cups and overall the service was horrific. As a diamond member at Hilton I would advise hotel guests to steer clear of this place. Go to the roof and take some pictures but move elsewhere for food and drink. Dustin further rubbed salt in the would by trying to talk loudly in a crowd saying "I can't wit for your review- go for it". He made zero effort to make things better but rather said "yeah- customer service isn't my thing." Everyone in the service industry should be appalled by an employee with this kind of attitude.

Superb City views with Great Hospitality.

By TJ Hamilton |

I have to thank our server Shab and the staff for all being right on point and attentive. I can't say anything bad about our food choices, top notch. My Family and I have had a great time with superb views of the city. Thank you LH Rooftop.

Great summer location

By Roam Free |

Went with a few friends and the food was amazing! The portions are a bit on the small side but the food was great and so was the service. It is on the rooftop so I recommend going during the summer so you can enjoy the outdoor patio with views of the river and downtown!

Great Drinks & Amazing Views!

Had a business dinner and ended the night off here with a night cap. Had a great house Old Fashioned and got to enjoy some amazing views of the city.

Lunch on the rooftop

We had lunch at the hotel our last day in Chicago. The views were fantastic, but the service and food were a disappointment.

Awesome View but shabby service and value

By John David Tyburski (J T) |

Great view and awesome hotel BUT the service and value at LH Rooftop has a lot to be desired . $41 for a Manhattan Cocktail and a glass of Prosecco and they were both short pours with attitude ! Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind paying especially for ambiance and upscale , but darn a glass delivered less than half full with attitude ? Next time, carry up a cocktail from their lobby bar and go upstairs to enjoy the view ! Maybe the air upstairs is thin or something cause downstairs was pleasant all around !

Awesome Views

By Thedevelopingimage |

It was thanksgiving weekend, we were staying at The London House. We seen there was a rooftop bar, so we decided to check it out. Unfortunately it wasn’t open, but the staff did open the elevator for us so we could still go up and out. The views are awesome, probably some of the best in the city. Looks pretty cool. Next time we’re in town we’ll be there when it is open.

Fantastic views

By alamo332 |

From the balcony I could see the entire Chicago river channel until it turns south. It was so beautiful to look at the buildings along the river. That atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing and my drink was great. I will definitely be back on a sunny day soon. This would be a great place to take visitors.

A lovely location overlooking the river and the Wrigley Building

We went here three times, twice for drinks and once for food. We were never disappointed. Although sometimes you have to wait to get somewhere to sit when it is busy.

Amazing rooftop bar

Amazing atmosphere and staff, Mauricio was the best bartender I had in my whole trip to Chicago. When you visit LH Rooftop Mauricio is a must!

Don't waste your time or money

By Fairel M |

A 1 star the menu on line is out dated. We went for the Calamari on their website and ambience. When we got ready to order no Calamari on the menu which left us to choose another option. Waitress recommended Truffle mushroom flat bread and crab Rangoon. Flat bread was small and tasteless especially for $32.00 and only 5 Rangoon with very little filling mostly pastry. Two cocktails and boll was $142.00. What a joke for the quality and value. Ambiance was nice but definitely not worth the price. The other two couples next to us also expressed their disappointment in not having updated menu and poor quality of food especially for the price. Would not have been as discouraged if food would have been a good quality. Would not recommend going. Save your time and money for another time and restaurant
