5 stars for the food, but too rushed!

By BethTO |

I came here for lunch right at noon and we were one of just a few parties seated in the beautiful back patio. Unfortunately the three dishes we ordered (calamari appetizer, eggplant side and pizza) were all brought out all at the same time so we had no time to truly enjoy each item. My guest and I were impressed with each dish, especially the authentic, thin crusted margherita pizza, however while we were only half way though our meal, our server asked if we wanted to order dessert and brought the check moments later. What's the rush?? The restaurant was practically empty! If I am going to spend $100 on a lunch for two (including coffee and gelato), I should be able to relax and take my time unless I indicate that I am in a hurry. Food may be authentic Italian, but service felt more like NY at rush hour!

Ask them to completely cook your pizza

By helenbX26FS |

Had this pizza with a salad delivered. The salad was good but the pizza was cold and raw. Pizza needs to have a light brown crust not white. When you pay 50.00 for a pizza and salad at least cook it, I had to put it in the toaster oven to complete the cooking. I don’t care what it cost, it needs to be cooked.

Pricy. But I Would Say it Offers the Best Margherita Pizza in Los Angeles

By Chuck S |

We tried all the pizzas on the menu (except for nosebleed price black truffle shaving pizza). The most delicious and compelling was the margherita pizza. It was the hands down, stand-out dish among everything served. The other, which was significantly pricy, consisted of a crostini topped with buffalo mozzarella and shaved alba truffles-- a very divine, indulgent bite of fluffy, creamy, intoxicating aromatic goodness. The kind of deliciousness you get into bloody knife fight between your dinner companions over. But that margherita pizza is ultimate elegance and sophistication. Cheesy, wonderfully tart tomato sauce, and sublime basil atop a rustic, flavorful crust that carries a bit of chewy doughy texture. Fried calamari is traditional fare, but nothing eye-popping. Desserts, mostly forgettable to be honest-- reasonable, balanced sweetness. But nothing that got me thinking "I need to come back for this." No, really, quite honestly, I only remember tiramisu, lemon tart, and there should be 2 other desserts, but they escape my memory. Other notes: This is the heart of Hollywood. That means pricy parking lots, parking meters, or valet. The place is noisy with conversation, with gossipy Hollywood entertainment working folk.

highly recommended!

This was my second visit to this Antica Pizzeria. The pizza margherita was as delicious as I remembered from the first visit. I also ordered fried gnocchi and meatballs, they were outstanding.

Authentic and fresh

Beautiful terrace, very fresh cuisine, authentic pizza. And the service is above expectation. The staff is also very caring.

Great food

By jan |

We found this restaurant via other reviews on Tripadvisor The restaurant is a bit hidden in a bit boring neighborhood But keep up where the food was good/ we got both pastarets- their pizzas looked good too. the service was excellent - the restaurant was so nice Great Recommendation from here

Well done!

By Mah_Murrini |

This is not your ordinary pizzeria. The entrance is more of an arrival with large lounge sofas and tables, and you would swear you are either at a fancy bar or a celebrity home. They must hire for attractiveness, but each employee is very well trained as well. Our meal was close to perfect from our delicious pizza to the cauliflower starter, and service was top notch. The location is a bit sketchy, but if you’re an Angeleno, I guess that’s par for the course.

Pizza in LA

By Valeria Z |

Very nice place, American-sized pizza but with an Italian flavour. Efficient service. Prices not excessive. We liked it and recommend it

A must visit, especially if in Hollywood!!!

By JDinLA |

I've been an Angeleno for almost 50 years and I can't remember enjoying a restaurant as much as this one, which I found online! My adult son and I had an easy walk from The Dolby to our early dinner and although a few streets are a bit sketchy if walking alone, we entered a lovely restaurant environment. I rarely take photos of what I order, but I made an exception for this dinner. See below. Because I made a last minute reservation, we only got high bar stools and next time I'll request outside seating.

The real Pizza of Naples

By Rossy👩🏼‍⚕️ |

For us Neapolitans, good food is fundamental, in this pizzeria it feels like taking a dip at Zii Michele's in Naples, exceptional. High quality ingredients, great food, delicious pizza. Congratulations, we have found home again on this journey to Hollywood. Absolutely recommended!

Hidden lunch spot

Good new American Italian food in lively happening atmosphere. Wish I could have tried so many but pizzas, pasta and especially Brussels sprouts were outstanding.

The real Neapolitan pizza

By muttley76 |

Historic Neapolitan restaurant transplanted into the heart of Hollywood without losing quality. The pizza and the first courses are also very good. Beautiful and well-kept location and attentive and quick service. Prices in line with restaurants of this level.

Great pizza.

By daniarwen |

Stopped in quick for lunch before a tour. Wood fired pizza and had a couple other appetizers - all really good and the server got us in and out and to our tour on time. Atmosphere was an upscale homey vibe, and the bar area is set up really well with plenty of room to sit and move around.

Delicious food and lovely vibe

By dsbali |

My friend lives locally and highly recommended L’antica for the first night of my LA visit. We loved it! Delicious pizza and most of what we ordered was delicious. Buzzy, cool vibe and decor and personal welcome from the owner (he’s from Naples so you know the pizza is authentic !).

Autentica

By Carlo C |

What a great surprise, electric vibes, perfect atmosphere, amazing setting we couldn’t stop ordering margherita pizza, true to the napoletano touch. The octopus is a must, follow by the tuna tartare, the spaghetti alle vongole was also perfect. Great service by good looking servers under the watchful eye of the master veteran Marino that add a great touch to the experience. What a gem, very lucky Hollywood to have it. Keep it up Uaglio.

Truly Fantastic and Authentic Naples Pizza Experience

By rickpoet |

Everything about our experience at L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele was 5 stars and, in terms of food, VERY reminiscent of the pies we had in Naples where the stuff was invented! My wife, son, and I shared a Margherita and a pesto pie...the crust was phenomenal on both. The Margherita had the perfect amount of sauce and was cooked just like it should be. We loved these pizzas and found them to be truly authentic relative to what we were served all over Naples, including at their namesake Da Michele restaurant there. We had a reservation and saw people having to wait a little bit for a table without one, but there is plenty of seating in a restaurant which is much more modern, upscale and spacious than its Naples counterpart. (And the price goes up to match that experience, but is typical for L.A.) Service was good. The wine was good. We'd definitely go back and eat more. If you want a truly authentic Naples style pizza experience, this place is worth a visit.

Nice evening

By Chiara |

My husband and I went here one evening for dinner during our honeymoon. Very nice place, friendly service. We both had pizza, very expensive but in line with the prices, I must say they were good. The only advice I can give is to take just one pizza and divide it in two, because they are really huge! I would go back

Great Dinner with Fabulous Food and Service

By mchill4 |

Great casual night out with fabulous food! The brick oven pizza, pasta and appetizers were all great. The food is affordably priced and the decor is welcoming and understated. Just an all around great place to eat with family, friends or a date.

Don’t Bother if You’re BIPOC

By Gabriela G |

I was looking forward to dinner at this restaurant after a trip to Italy this summer had me longing for Neapolitan pizza. Unfortunately, my experience at Da Michele left a bad taste in my mouth -- and less so because of the food. The pizzas weren't as spectacular as in Naples, but adequate. The crust could have been less soggy. My real issue with this restaurant is management. Before I get into that, I do want to give credit to our server, Destiny, who was cordial and attentive. Her manager, however, was dismissive and unhelpful. We went to the restaurant on a drizzly night and were seated outside between two large awnings with a 2-3 foot gap in the middle. When we asked the manager to be moved to an open table in the center of the awning, she told us the table was reserved and wouldn't make a difference in terms of getting wet (mind you we also had a reservation). She offered us the bar, which isn't great for a group of 4 so we stayed put. Once the rain picked up, we were all getting wet and the table where she claimed it "wouldn't make a difference to be moved" was completely dry. Mid-meal a table inside became available, and we moved there. We then ordered cannoli which came with pistachio (not listed on the menu). My friend, who is allergic to pistachio, began experiencing a reaction to the unlisted ingredient, but thankfully she had an epipen. The manager returned again and wasn't really empathetic and told us that the item came with pistachio ice cream -- insinuating that we were to blame. We argued that my friend didn't touch the ice cream at all (it was in a separate container) and that the menu had described the cannoli as having hazelnuts, not pistachios. After some back and forth, the manager comped the dessert but left us feeling humiliated. This is a trendy restaurant on the Westside with a predominantly white clientele. We left this bad experience wondering if the manager would have taken our concerns more seriously and treated us with more empathy and respect if we weren't a group of 4 BIPOC women. Also, the bathroom was pretty gross and one of the 2 toilets was broken.

Delicious Italian Food

By Skyruby |

Stumbled across this place while driving in the area and searching a restaurant on openTable. My husband and I sat at the bar. Service was friendly and attentive. The pizza only takes less that a minute to cook and it was large and delicious!!! We also had a salad (their version of Italian) Cacio é Pepe pasta and the short rib pasta which was Devine!!! 😋 The restaurant is beautiful and made to feel like a home with a living room and fire place in the front, a small patio for the restaurant and a large patio for the pizzeria in the back. Oh, did i mention the Nutella filled donut that was to die for?! 😀I definitely recommend and will be back!

Amazing Pizza Buonissima

A true Hollywood Gem 💎 The best, Italian restaurant in Hollywood! 10 times better than Mozza! The ambiance and vibe is on point and the food is unforgettable

Great Italian restaurant

By IlyaNJ |

Just a couple of blocks away from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this is a great Italian place, with an excellent menu. Can't find better cacio e pepe this side of Rome. “Torta di Nonna” for dessert also got surpassing marks.

Good Italian restaurant and good pizzas

By Régis1972 |

A good category pizzeria / Italian restaurant that offers a very nice setting and a nice terrace. Professional and pleasant service and an interesting menu with a good choice of Italian dishes. The pizzas are good, the crust is not thick as for Neapolitan but good and well cooked. And they are huge!!! A good address that changes from many fas-foods and other meat/burger restaurants.

would I go back....? No.

By Bonimba55 |

one hour in traffic (round trip from century city), 135 dollars + 30 tip + 10 for parking for two Margherita, arancini, polpo salad and two beers plus a bottle of water and two coffees. The pizza was good, the dough was a little too gummy (still need to work on the dough), arancini were terrible and the polpo was very good (small portion). Summary... nothing crazy ... just an expensive pizzeria that is way out of the way PS best part of the dinner was Chivon's smile (our waitress), what a great personality

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

By kwaaak |

We'd read some unflattering, even mean, reviews of Pizzeria da Michele soon after it opened and at first were hesitant, but the restaurant was close to our house and one afternoon off we went. Let's start with the valet - friendly, helpful - couldn't be nicer. The young woman at the front desk checked our reservation and took us to a charming, serene outside space. The weather was perfect and we soon learned it would be the appetizer for our visit. We wanted to eat from the entire menu but first chose the rice balls and friend calamari. We wanted more and ordered the arugula salad with figs and prosciutto; a classic salad beautifully presented and delicious. Then came the pizza margarita - sauce tasty, not harsh; fresh basil, cheese, perfect thin crust. We finished with a lemon tart and espresso. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful. Whoever reviewed Pizzeria da Michele needs to return and reconsider. This is a neighborhood find. We'll return again and again to eat the rest of the menu.

Great pizza, crazy prices

By Syria |

Excellent pizza, being far from home you don't expect to find one this good outside of Italy. I liked the pasta less. The crazy bill for us Italians, almost 200 euros for two pizzas, a pasta and some simple mid-range wine. But for the USA it's normal... Italians though, be careful, if you want to spend the right amount for a pizza... it's not the right place

Simply stated: this place is superb

By Trup |

Our experience was just superb! We went with one of our adult daughters, her husband and a grandson. The food was exceptional, the service very prompt and professional, it was not as noisy as some L.A. places (we could visit!) and the prices, while not inexpensive, were reasonable (as they go these days). Our "kids" had been before -- and on our next visit from NY we are very likely to return.

Best pizzas

By sergio513 |

This upscale pizzeria serves the best neapolitan style pizzas I have eaten outside Naples. It was my first visit. I will certainly return.

Perfecto!

By LoriO24 |

This place is a gem in the middle of the chaos! We came for dinner on our one night in LA after reading good things and our expectations were exceeded. The vibe is really nice and the staff are all really accommodating and friendly. The food is ridiculously delicious! We started with some lively cocktails and we were pleasantly surprised that they were generous pours! For a starter we opted for the eggplant and burrata and it was amazing. The flavors were delicious and worked so well. We then had a pesto pizza and caccio e pepe and we are still arguing over which was more delicious. The pizza is proper, like back in Italy, the dough super thin yet somehow airy and chewy. DELICIOUS. The pasta was the best I have had since Italy(my sister lives there) - the sauce was perfect, nice and smooth and flavorful. We couldn’t shove anything else down otherwise the desserts looked tempting- next time for sure! This place is solid and highly recommended!

Fantastic!!!

Very good pizza , one per person is too much so do expect a doggy bag. Staff friendly The Arancini and Octopus starters 5**

In a word "awesome" - make sure you book, as it is popular

By Mark S |

We were steered to this restaurant by the manager at the Hollywood Roosevelt. From the street it looks a bit nondescript but rest assured the interior is modern and the food is spectacular, delicious and well priced. This coupled with very attentive staff made the visit a highlight of our stay in LA. And to make sure everything was as it should be the owner introduced himself, asked how we'd found his restaurant and made us feel as if we were part of a large family gathering. An excellent night with great food and service - can't recommend it highly enough.

Perfect Italian restaurant in Holywood

By Dewi Erawan |

We had a wonderful double pizza Margherita and pork chop as main course. The pizza was cooked authentically with wooden fire and it came out really well. Also the pork chop was done in perfection with arugula salad. This restaurant is a must visit when you are in Holywood.

Food is ok Very poor service

By dev k |

I dined there last night with my family. The food is OK but the service was very poor. When we ordered Pizza we specifically requested red pepper flakes with our Pizza . We got the pizza but no red pepper flakes. Then I had to ask red pepper flakes three more times for my Pizza , finally when we got I was done eating the Pizza.

Hidden In Hollywood

By TrojanKey |

This place Is a little hidden but once found this is a Oasis in the middle of frenetic Hollywood. A great inviting patio is the place to be. Had the Pizza Margharita, wonderful light and at the table in a few minutes. Can’t wait to try more pizzas here, highly recommend it!

A landmark!

By Maria Pia |

During our 11 days in California we returned to this restaurant 4 times. Good pizza, good pasta, good fried food. A better Nerono than many eaten in Italy. The staff does not speak Italian but they still try to make themselves understood. Highly recommended.

I wanted to love it!

By Judith A |

Not sure where to begin the dining experience here. So many problems from the minute we walked in until we left. Pros: great pizza, good pasta ice it was cooked properly, delicious salad but everything served out of sequence. Cons: poor service but not due to waitstaff but kitchen not cooking food correctly. Cold as can be with doors constantly kept open that made it freezing meal inside. You didn’t need to be seated on patio to experience the cold night air. There’s a fireplace so if you go be sure you are next to you. We were not. Too bad as had high hopes for a splendid meal.

Naples to Los Angeles

By andrea c |

Excellent pizza.. like in Naples Excellent menu of Italian products chosen with care and refinement... also Peroni beer as well as Menabrea and others Mandatory stop for anyone who wants to eat a Neapolitan pizza in Los Angeles. The first courses and the aubergine parmigiana are also recommended! Good guys Go Italy!

Delicious food, charming servixe

By Margie Ogawa |

Absolutely loved our dinner at this neighborhood find. Service was warm and friendly and the food outstanding. Dined with my daughter and her friend who praised the atmosphere. This is the type of place you get happy in. Highly recommend.

Best Italian Food in LA!

By Janis H |

A lot of Hollywood is sketchy and at first glance, this place was too. Then I walked in and it was magical. Two indoor/outdoor terraces; a big lively bar; casual, comfortable decor and clientele; and oh yeah, that food. The pizza is out-of-this-world, the pastas are perfect, and the salads were sublime. I can't wait to back for their branzino and burger and whateverI can eat. And save room for gelato because it's insanely good. The portions aren't so big that you can't eat a couple of different courses and sharing gives you even more choices to sample.

$24 Margherita burned and with a hole

By Peppedm82 |

$24 for a burnt daisy and a hole in the bottom, but it wasn't burned because it was overcooked, but it was oven burn that is never cleaned, Then if you really don't want to pay an Italian pizza maker who understands how to make pizzas and how to treat the oven, instead of filling the kitchens with Mexicans who don't know anything about Italian food, at least hire an Italian in the lounge or at the bar, who has eaten the real Neapolitan pizza and therefore knows that what you serve is something inedible, so he points it out to those who have to do a refresh to the pizza maker. That then 24 pizza a coke total 34 euros and thank goodness I did not leave the tip otherwise it cost me almost $ 45.

High expectations

By francesco c |

In search of a Neapolitan pizza after a month in the States we trusted a historical name like Michele (which the waiter pronounced Miscel). Clearly, to be a pizzeria in the heart of Hollywood, in a certain sense we had to adapt to the tastes and preferences of the place, losing a little authenticity. The pizzas that came out of the oven were typically Carrota di Carro, inviting in appearance, but the one on the Margherita and Margherita Sbagliata was neither fiordilatte nor provola. Overall, a not entirely convincing experience given that Michele a Forcella is an institution with a heavy name, but perhaps our expectations were too high...

Great food

By Legend |

As you would expect when the restaurant only opened 10 days ago, the staff are still getting to know things and the restaurant is finding it's groove. However they have created a open clean great looking space with nice large bar area, a great lunge near the fireplace, a lovely brick oven pizza oven, indoor and outdoor seating. The best thing however, is the food! We ordered the calamari, which was served nice and hot. It was clean, fresh and really tasty. Although you can basically only get cheese pizzas, you forget that you wanted anything else when you taste it. It is really tasty and the dough is perfect. The owner is also really nice, which always helps.

Magnificent and cosy, excellent pizza and superb tiramisu

By the fat Guy |

A magnificent and cosy Italian restaurant and pizza, well hidden in the LA, but just 5 minutes walk from the main Boulevard, from the outside it looks sompke and small, but once you enter - what a true gem! We had pizza pesto, a lot of mozzarella cheese and fresh cherry tomatoes and basil. Also we had calamari fritti with lemon which were good. For desert, an excellent tiramisu, with a very strong flavour of good coffee. Staff was efficient and extra kind (tnx madison!)

FAKE ITALIAN

By Mirco D |

Obviously American, a “fake pizza” smash 30€ just right for Americans who don’t understand anything about food, if you make a crushed pizza in Naples your hands will be raised 🤣 The American classics An Italian

Popular pizza place with al fresco dining

By Shanelle |

Popular pizza place with al fresco dining and takeout. They're currently open during covid and you can make reservations online via their website. There’s valet parking available, or you can try your luck with neighborhood parking (2 hour limit) in the surrounding streets, but read the signs! There’s an outdoor waiting area and before you get seated, you check in with the hostess and can wait by the fireplace before being led to your table. The inside bar is airy, but the outdoor patio dining is very cute. The place is romantic and good for small groups. You can check out the menu via QR code but you absolutely have to get a pizza (it’s the whole point of coming here). We got an order of the small montanara (4) which I’d describe as donut holes with marinara (I mean this in the best way). The dough is light and perfectly crispy; it’s dusted with a fine layer of cheese and sits atop a bed of arugula. For three people, we split two pizzas and had quite a few leftover. The Diavola was my favorite since it had a bit of spice, but the bianca is good for white sauce lovers. The crust is the best, and you can watch the chefs make the food from the open kitchen. I saw quite a few people do takeout, but the pizza is obviously best when it comes straight from the oven since it does cool down relatively quickly. Takeout is available. They have brunch on the weekends and a full bar. Credit cards are accepted. Overall, this was a great place to have some good food with good company.

Good place for a nice conversation and some wine

By jessica c |

Was really nice and the food was really good. Service was fantastic and fast. It was outside and the ambiance felt warm and cozy

Nice find

By CC1 |

While staying in LA. We were looking for a good restaurant that was not a tourist spot. We came across this one which was only a few blocks from our hotel. The street view would make you question it but the Inside was nice, service and food were good. It was a good find. I will be returning next time I’m in town.

Hidden gem

By Todd |

My wife and I heard about this place from a local. This restaurant is a beautiful setting on a side street. Definitely a place the locals frequent. It was a busy Saturday night on 5/13 and we did not have reservations. They were able to seat us immediately anyway. The hosts were very friendly and polite. The wait staff were professional and very nice. I had the squid ink pasta with seafood. It truly was amazing. It smelled of saltwater and freshness. The best meal I have had in a while. My wife had a delicious large Cesar salad the pasta gnocchi dish that she loved. I highly recommend this restaurant if you visit Hollywood. I hear their pizzas are wonderful but we did not try one.

Excellent Italian pizza in Hollywood

By J_C |

Excellent Italian pizza. The place is adorable, with an amazing patio. Pizzas are big enough for 2 people, and there’s plenty of options to choose.

A piece of Naples in California

By @chefmspin.recetas |

The pizza in this renowned pizzeria is really good, with a quality and flavor that faithfully recalls the original of Naples. Dough, tomato and mozzarella maintain the Neapolitan essence. Although the price is somewhat higher than in Italy, experience compensates. Ideal for those looking for authenticity in the heart of Hollywood. Undoubtedly, a highly recommended visit for lovers of traditional pizza.

Excellent pizza that brought back memories of Naples

By msa23_2000 |

This restaurant was recommended by a friend as being authentically Napoleon pizza. So I ordered the Margarita and it was great (not quite as great of my memory of Naples, but close). The crust was perfect. The pizza was a little more expensive than I expected but it is comparable ($22 for a margarita pizza). The location is hard to notice from the street and not the best parking situation, but I found street parking around the corner. But once inside it is completely different then the outside. Roomy with indoor and outdoor seating.

Best Pizza hands down !

By rbhk2016 |

Superb artisanal and AUTHENTIC pizza as they make in Naples Italy. Typically they don’t serve meat per their strict Italian way but I asked if they could do a Diavola and as luck would have it they were introducing it that very day. The most divine thin crust and the freshest ingredients esp the Basil leaves. Loved it so much that I went back 2 nights later again and devoured the pizza all on my own. Their wine list is well curated and the staff are super friendly. Props to Lukas the server that did so brilliantly to attend to my request.

Great Neapolitan Pizza... not as good as Italia!

By millergirl |

We loved our meal at L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele Hollywood. The Marguerita pizza was great... the savory salty crust and flavorful sauce were reminiscent of Da Michele in Rome, and other Neapolitan pizzas in Naples. The only downside is the cheese. They do not use buffalo mozzarella, but cow milk mozzarella. It was still delicious, but there is a noticeable difference in the cheese. The service was great, especially our server, who was from Rome. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed his Italian wine. It's a bit off the beaten path, and you feel like you walk through a couple blocks of Hollywood ghetto before you find it, but who doesn't need a few extra steps when eating pizza? The restaurant itself has a warm, clean, modern vibe. The pizzas are much more expensive than in Italy, but for high-quality imported Italian ingredients, it was worth it. For Americans looking for American style pizza, this is not it. Stop texting, stop talking, take a bite and savor the flavors of Italian flour, the signature Neapolitan char on the crust, olive oil, San Marzano tomatoes, and basil. Appreciate it for what it is -- high-quality Neapolitan pizza. Buon appetito!

Fitted the bill exactly.

By LandC46 |

We were initially looking for good pizza somewhere within walking distance of our Hollywood Hotel, and spotted this place on Trip Advisor. It fitted the bill perfectly, though in the end we decided on a fish dish and were extremely happy with the simple way it was cooked and presented. The lava chocolate cake desert listed white chocolate as part of the dish but our waiter offered the warning that it was “only a drizzle”. Just as well that was the warning, otherwise it could have been slightly disappointing. Only slightly, because it was delicious. If one was being picky the tiramisu didn’t quite compare in excellence as it lacked the expected flavor hit. Incidentally, the pizzas did look magnificent and if we were staying longer we would have returned for them. So nice to find such a good place tucked away from the tourist melee, but within 10 mins walk of Hollywood Boulevard.

We felt right at Nápoles .

By Giorgina P |

We felt right at Nápoles . The pizza is awesome, pastas out of this world, the shrimp board was an incredible healthy choice. The desserts were delicious. The service super amicable. The owner was very nice to us and even gave us a free dessert. We are planning to come back before we leave. Reasonable prices. The quality of the food was way out of my expectations .

Wonderful Food!

By Christina F |

My mother and I had a delicious early dinner at L'Antica Pizzeria this evening! We are always on the look out for a good Italian Restaurant and this one is wonderful!! We shared the Margharita pizza, the pappardelle alla genovese and grilled asparagus. All were delicious!! The pizza was flavorful and of the soft crust variety. - perfect from the oven!! The pappardelle with short-rib was incredible - the meat was cooked to tender perfection and the flavor so very good and the asparagus are my favorite. For dessert we chose the panna cotta with berries which was creamy, refreshing goodness! Service was laid back but attentive. Chiara took very good care of us and made excellent suggestions. We arrived a little before 4 pm on a Thursday and were able to walk in without a reservation. We did not feel rushed and were able to enjoy the enclosed patio - the weather was perfect and even my mother (who is always cold) was comfortable. Francesco, the owner (and a lovely man) stopped by to welcome us and say hello. As mentioned in the questions, there is paid valet parking right across the narrow street. All in all a delicious, wonderful dinner! We wish they would open a branch in the Pasadena, but until then we will definitely return and bring our friends. Our thanks to Francesco and his staff for a wonderful dinner!!

A Miss For Vegan Diners

By blusaphire |

We came with a large group of 10. My sister and I are vegan and didn’t choose this place. We were disappointed to find that their vegan entree option consisted of pizza dough with sauce and pieces of garlic on it. No exaggeration. We cook most days of the week and our homemade vegan pizzas would blow this one out of the water. If you want authentic Italian pizza (which we’ve had) and don’t want to deign to provide a vegan option even when you’re in Southern California that’s fine, but don’t slap bread and sauce on the menu and call it vegan. Service was fine except when the server forgot to bring my sister a birthday dessert when he said he would and instead brought the check.

Perfect for date night!

By Harriet Gunner |

Just lovely! We came here for our first meal in LA after a very long flight from London. We were recommended by a friend. We had the burrata and eggplant to start, and a gorgeous white pizza for our main. The service and ambience was great. It was quite expensive (130 dollars for a starter, pizza and a bottle of wine) but delicious so we didn’t mind too much. Would definitely recommend!

Pizza fine and huge

By Christian B |

The pizza is fine and huge but what I didn't like so much was that they gave a tip of 50 dollars,

Great authentic Italian food!

By Matthew O |

Recently went here for dinner. From the outside it doesn't look like much, however when you step in its almost cavernous with brick walls and fireplaces everywhere. No Started with the beet salad, which is usually the size of your palm, however this plate was the size of your forearm. Next we had the pasta with short ribs and truffles. There is nothing like homemade fresh pasta. It is night and day from store-bought pasta. Finally we closed with a margherita pizza with double cheese. Throw in a bottle of Italian red and it was one of the best Italian meals I've had in years.

Nice place, but expensive

By ExperiencedTravelers |

The restaurant is in an essentially abandoned area of Hollywood, but they do have valet parking. Once inside the restaurant it is a very nice environment. We shared a pizza and salad, both of which were very good. Service was excellent. Prices were a bit expensive for what you get. Overall a good place for a business lunch meeting. I'm not so sure I would feel safe at night.

Wonderful service and beautiful pizza. We ordered 3 pizzas and a pasta and it was way too much for this family of four. The wines are amazing even if the selection is only Italian. It is located in a cute place off a laneway so it is in a beautiful sheltered spot but a little hard to find.

Great bar and restaurant

We were a table of 5 and enjoyed a comfortable table on the side without the open roof. The room has a great vibe and you will feel like your at home while dining. Margherita Pizza was excellent thin crust with the best mozzarella in Los Angeles. The naked pizza with no cheese and anchovies is a perfect dairy free dinner. Eggplant appetizer 10/10 Sausage pasta 10/10 Wine service is very enthusiastic, we brought our own and paid a hefty corkage but it was worth it. Be careful this is a place you can go to everyday!

Stylish restaurant and outside space, serving classic Italian pizza/pasta

Tired of googling restaurants near the Hollywood Boulevard where we were staying (which itself was devoid of good restaurants despite it being a tourist spot) the breakfast waitress in our hotel recommended L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele which was couple of blocks away. Arriving at night, the location itself is surprising - you wonder what you are getting out of the cab into - the restaurant is next to a parking garage and the road was quite quiet - but there were a number of security door guards around who guided us into the restaurant. Upon checking in, we were walked through the restaurant to the outside table we'd booked at the rear of the building - the restaurant itself was modern elegant and stylish and if we hadn't had a table outside on such a hot evening, we would have happy sat inside as this too was just as amazing. We ordered a pizza to share (they were too large to tackle individually). The pizza itself was good value when seen as a sharer approx $20, but we found the sides were quite expensive - e.g. $17 for a green side salad, which we felt was not a sharer size. Whilst the drinks service was quick, the food service was slower but that was fine with us as we wanted to make an evening of it - especially at the nice table we were given near the external fireplace. We also stayed for dessert - again with the price $15 and mindful of the pizza size, we thought this would have been sharer size, but when it arrived it was in a small drinking glass - and whilst nice, we could have easily had two - but this would have cost a small fortune! The usual prices for dessert we were paying in LA was approx. half this, for similar surroundings. We stayed until the advertised closing time to make the most of our evening out - we did not feel that we were being pushed on by the staff, however, the open kitchen format meant you could see the kitchen staff washing up, which gave the sense that we should think about moving on. As with a lot of places in LA we were surprised how early some of these places pack up for the evening - for instance the bar area looked closed by 10pm but looked a great place we could have spent easily another hour. Ignoring the prices, we did enjoy the food and experience and have recommended this to friends who are travelling out to LA soon.

Perfect Ambiance and Delicious Dishes for a Memorable Night Out!

The ambiance was perfect for a date night, whether with friends or your partner! The cozy atmosphere added to the experience, and the food was delightful. We started with the squash blossoms, which were a light and satisfying appetizer—delicate and flavorful. The mixed board was a highlight, offering a generous variety of meats that were perfect for sharing while we waited for our mains. It’s an appetizer I’d definitely recommend! For our entrees, the maccheroni bolognese was a standout, with its rich and perfectly balanced flavors. I love Parmesan, so adding an extra side made it even better—so delicious! The caserta pizza had a unique combination of flavors, and the crust was beautifully toasted, showcasing their excellent dough. Overall, the service was wonderful, and it’s a spot worth visiting for a special treat. Looking forward to coming back!

Pizza just like from Naples Italy

Delicious pizza, just as we remembered from our trip to Naples, Italy! We ordered the funghi and sausage special pizza, and loved the freshness of all their ingredients. The crust was baked perfectly. We also ordered their cream pasta with pecorino cheese. This was also delicious. Service was solid, and we loved dining al fresco in their outdoor patio in the back - super romantic and with a great view of their pizza kitchen. Pricing was a bit on the expensive side, but nothing crazy for the Hollywood area. Highly recommend!

We loved this place! Amazing!

We loved this place! The appetizers were delicious! Grilled octopus and Aranchini were amazing! The margarita pizza, Cesar salad and papperdelle were also great! We also enjoyed their award winning blueberry basil gelato and cannolis. We were stuffed but took our leftovers home. Such a cozy setting and the owner came over to check on us too which was really nice! Loved it and would highly recommend stopping in. Must make a reservation tho and they have nice valet parking too. It was the first time that our daughter had been out to eat since moving to LA in June 2020 for her residency at LA county hospital so she loved it! Excellent !

Great pizza and appetizers, fabulous ambiance, a bit pricey

Da Michele is one of the hottest, trendiest places happening in Hollywood, right now. Two nights ago, after the premiere at the Chinese Theatre of Scorsese's new masterpiece, "The Irishman," the very likes of Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Di Caprio et al. went to Da Michele to party. I had a superb margherita pizza and fabulous appetizers, served by the most attractive and crafty waiters and waitresses Hollywood can offer... The ambiance and the lighting are simply fabulous, and Da Michele combines old-world savvyness with the currant, hip flavor of a-la-page young , upcoming Hollywood. It's not cheap -- but definitely worthy: you may spend a night to remember, here.

Really good

Popped in for spontaneous lunch and was very pleased with the pizza and pasta. Service very good too. Would go again. They do however need a bigger sign outside

The food is fine, but takes a backseat to the space

Recently opened in Hollywood, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele promises Angelinos an authentic taste of Italy, and although naysayers have claimed the seasonal menu steps away from traditions begun in 1870 the simple fact is that the Ingredient quality is high and so is the overall production value. Inspired by Italian courtyards and bolstered by the bounty of California, Pizzaiolo Michele Rubini visibly working Dough behind glass amid a space surrounded by trees, it is inside the former Café Des Artistes that guests will find the concept backed by Francesco Zimone, the film-finance-pro-turned-restaurateur also present to greet a nearly full house on Friday afternoon. Assuredly an expensive build-out, beginning in a comfortable foyer and continuing through the bar leading outside, it is from a fairly straight-forward menu that diners are invited to choose familiar favorites, Pizzas predictably front and center with Aperitivo, Verdure and more to follow. Made famous by the book “Eat Pray Love,” a fact unknown to this diner until moments before booking, it was not long after seating that a youthful waiter stopped by to fill Water and take orders, noon arrival assuring minimal delay from the kitchen and L’Antica’s Bianca served within ten minutes as a thick layer of imported Cheese atop lightly blistered Crust still floppy at the center with a moderate degree of blister. A bit let down by the cornicione, either a lack of leavening or too hot an oven preventing the rise seen in Neapolitan Pies served elsewhere, it was with one Slice remaining that a $22 Montanara was delivered, the frying even and subtle despite failing to yield the same crispness as New York’s Don Antonio while a simple plate of Spaghetti was almost *too* al dente beneath hand-crushed imported Tomatoes without a lot of Herbs save for a single whole Basil Leaf.

Great pizza

Don't expect Michele's pizza at the courts, this is a pizza more like Pellone's cartwheel. Very thin (and perhaps a little more crunchy than ours) but very tasty and easy to digest. The location is very beautiful and relaxing, with a beautiful outdoor area full of plants, ideal for escaping the most hectic Hollywood.

Cozy, Casual and yet Romantic

Double pizza Margherita. Roasted cauliflower. Alla Norma pasta. Grilled shrimp skewers. Citrus arugula salad. The food kept coming and I couldn't stop inhaling every dish that came our way. So. Dang. Delicious. Not to mention, excellent service. And I am a fangirl of exposed kitchens (*see photos) where I can see chefs making my pizza. The layout of this restaurant is stylish and romantic. The owner came to our table and could not have been more friendly. I really had a fabulous dinner.
