A lunch reservation for a party of 9 did not disappoint. The food was hot and fresh prepared perfectly. What absolutely sealed the deal for a wonderful experience was our server Rosario. He was professional, attentive and friendly. Rosario balanced a full table and made sure every need we had was taken care of. Visit LaScala's and ask for Roario, you will not be disappointed.

Stopped in for lunch. We were seated immediately at a table by a window. The restaurant has several areas to dine at including a bar area. For lunch we had some soup and a chicken parmigiana sandwich served with fries. In addition we also ordered the baked lasagna. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was excellent, the chicken cutlets were perfectly seasoned and the fries were well seasoned. The lasagna was a generous portion and was very tasty. My grandson loved his meal. We will definitely be back again.

So we thought about just a slice, but they don’t offer it. The bartender said the pizza was really good. Glad we stayed to try it. Pizza spot on. Great pairing with a recommended local brew. We would go back.

Restaurant week is always a great time in Philly, but last night we had the opportunity to go to a great Italian restaurant, La Scala's on Chestnut street. I have been there before for lunch, but this is the first time I brought friends and did their Fix price menu. In most restaurants that do restaurant week, The food is good, but the menu is very limited in choices and the portion size is smaller than the normal menu. This wasn't the case at La Scala's. Yes it wasn't their full menu, but you chose from 7 starters, 11 entrees and 4 deserts. and they also served a Caesar salad with the entrees. On top of all of this they served full portions, all for $35 per person. The food was great, the atmosphere warm and relaxing.

Very welcoming restaurant with good food at very reasonable prices for a center city restaurant. Was crowded but the noise level was such the you could enjoy a conversation with your group. Free parking on certain days at a lot immediately behind the restaurant. Overall this was a very good experience.

The pear and gruyere pizza is a wonderful combination of flavors, with sweet from the pairs and salty from the Speck. Service was very good.

Based on other reviews I expected something more quaint, with more interesting decor. The decor is very modern and 50s music was blaring the whole time. Food was good but waiter knew nothing about wine pairing (was unable to recommend a wine when asked). I was disappointed and would not return.

The food & ambiance at LaScala's was wonderful! We really enjoyed the roasted beet & goat cheese salad, fried calamari, and a pizza to start. For dinners, the chicken parm, grilled pork chop & seafood over linguini were delicious! Manager Beth Cantor & server Michael T. we're so kind! Highly recommend!!

Have been here a few times and it might just be our go to place. While we have only eaten from the bar menu, it has been very good. Snacks and apps are very good and cocktails are well made and are perfectly sized (large). Also I am not a craft beer guy and can get some good old standbys here.

Location is great - in the heart of Philly Center City! Great Italian cusine - very tasty and reasonably priced for its location!

This restaurant is FANTASTIC! We have eaten out for 8 nights while on vacation and La Scala's is and was the best! Great portions, fast service and great wait staff. We had the chicken parm and my wife had the chicken marsala. Can't say enough good about this place. Can't wait to come to Philadelphia again to eat here!

Stopped by here for Happy Hour one night when we were on vacation. It was absolutely amazing! We found out about this restaurant from another guest staying at the hotel. I mean, who doesn't like $6 appetizers and $3 beers for happy hour. My wife and I decided to try a lot of different appetizers, to include boneless bbq wings, sausage and peppers, risotto and mozzarella arancini, tomato bruschetta, and a cheese pizza. We ultimately made a meal out of these appetizers. The only way to get the happy hour is to sit at the bar or outside. The waiter kept the drinks filled and the weather was perfect for eating outside. One guest even had their dog present and the restaurant brought out a water dish for the pup. Stop in for Happy Hour or just for some great food! You'll enjoy it!

We live nearby but for some reason this was our first visit. Luigi was our server and he was good. What was the surprise was I asked if gnocchi on the menu, Luigi sad no but I’ll make it for you, then asked if the capressi salad could be cold, he said it would be. My spouse had spaghetti and meatball. That was on menu. We had a really good dinner and a pleasant experience. We’ll be back.

When we were seated the waitress brought us a bottle of tap water. This water tasted like it came from the sewer. I guess that is how they get you to buy drinks. My wife and I had the meatball panini with French fries. The fries did not tasted fresh and seemed to have been soaked in something. The fries in McDonald's are much better than in this better. The meatballs did not have any taste. They also seemed not to be fresh. Th service was very good. The restaurant was nice and clean but there are better restaurants in Philadelphia.

I rarely give five stars to a restaurant, but this one is deserving. We were here on a Saturday evening (was able to make a reservation via open table, as it filled up fast!). The food was delicious, with good portion sizes at reasonable prices for the quality. What really earned my love, though, was the amazing (and honest!) service. The waiter was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the food was delivered by a smiling employee who seemed legitimately proud of the food he was delivering to us (and deservedly so). Then my husband accidentally left his credit card on the table, and we didn't notice until a few hours later. We called them up, and they had it and held it until we could frantically return to pick it up. No charges were made on the card other than our actual bill, even though I think that at many/most restaurants that would have happened. We aren't in Philly that often, but will certainly return when we are!!

Love the small corner spot... in Independence Mall, their Calamari is good and Crispy ... Their Fettuccine shrimp and crab meat is sooo o good Wife had the Smoke Salmon... great tasting meal

The food and drinks were delicious and it was the perfect place to celebrate a friend's birthday! Our waiter was nice but a little odd and needed to go back to the bar or kitchen to ask questions for us. The tilapia was amazing and I had leftovers to take home!

You can pass on this place. Great location in city however I'm Italian and it doesn't impress me at all. If you're starving ok but if u can go somewhere else, go.

We enjoyed our show at the Walnut Street Theater and made the short walk to LaScala's. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter was friendly and very knowledgeable. Two of us ordered the Filet Mignon and both were cooked to perfection. One ordered the Chicken San Remo, she said it was delicious. We totally enjoyed our meal and glad that we took a chance on an unknown.

Found this spot on TripAdvisor, and so glad we did. My wife, son, and I had a fabulous dinner there last night. All of our food was delicious. They serve bread with an oil/vinegar ramekin with a chunk of butter inside. Yum! Fried calamari is lightly battered, which was great. I recommend the Veal Saltimbocca, which had an incredible sauce. The Linguine with clams dish was excellent, too. My 3-year old's rigatoni and meatball was money as well. My only complaint is that the wine list was excessively expensive. Not so given that you're in downtown Philadelphia. However, the food was very reasonably priced, so too much disparity to the wine prices. Lastly, a shout out to our waiter, Sergio. He was spot on with everything, which made for a nice flow and relaxing dinner. Thank you.

Wandered in on our way back from Independence Hall because we were hungry & it smelled amazing. Food, service and cocktails were fabulous. I fancy myself a pretty good cook and the sauce with the baked meatballs was outstanding-better than mine. And the fresh focaccia was likewise amazing. Prices were super reasonable riven the quality of the food.

Stopped in here for a drink and a light meal. We both had a salad which was good. We sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly. It is within walking distance to Constitution Hall which is where were headed. Service was quick. Enjoyed very much.

I had the lobster ravioli and it was very good. No surprises, but consistently good. The service could have been better. Waiter spent way too long chit chatting when he was supposed to be opening the wine for example. And very long periods of time when he was nowhere to be found. It was a full 45 minutes before we even ordered our main dishes for example.

My wife and I cannot complain. The food was genuine Italian, tasty, and well presented. The wine was drinkable, and the service friendly. One could do much worse in the area around Independence Park.

My family of three stopped by for a quick bite while sightseeing nearby before Xmas. I was sick and longed for soup and garlic and hot tea. The cup of Italian Wedding was very good and the sautéed zucchini that our server offered to have the kitchen make up was wonderfully garlicky and cooked just right. I couldn't have been happier with my meal and the tea and honey. My boys shared a white pizza. It looked unappetizing and they said it was just ok. The service was very good. The atmosphere was good. Good menu and we would try again.

Quick background: We're from out of town, visiting area colleges for my son...and we don't know Philadelphia at all. It is a BIG city, and we drove around the area for quite some time, looking for a parking spot, or garage, that didn't cost $25+ for a few hours. Things just started going our way...and we found a meter on a side street for $2.00...then walked two blocks and found LaScalas. The outside looked nice, the customers at the tables outdoors seemed to be enjoying themselves, the menu in the window looked good, and the young man at the counter inside was very welcoming. We knew we were on the right track! The restaurant is clean, busy but quiet, and modern. The menu offers plenty of choices (we opted for pizza, roasted potatoes and ricotta-stuff ravioli), and all were excellent - so much so that my son ate his ravioli and then began stealing my pizza! The service is quietly efficient, and I normally wouldn't even care to mention this...but the bread they offer before the meal is completely addicting! DON'T start eating it, or you're DOOMED! You'll be full by the time your meal arrives. I honestly considered stuffing some in my pockets, for our walk around the historical sights in the area. : ) We really lucked out choosing this restaurant - give it a try!

The wines were excellent. The veals, (Marsala & Piccata), that we tried were both delicious. The perfiteroles for dessert were the most interesting one's we had ever eaten! Service was prompt and attentive.

Craving pasta and this place hit the spot. Gnocchi in alfredo sauce (an accommodation from the marinara on the menu) was amazing as was the bread and the server. Would definitely go again.

We booked here based on the reviews, expecting something special which unfortunately it was not. The restaurant only had a few tables occupied yet it took our server quite some time to come over to take our drink/food orders. He was friendly and professional when he got there however. We shared a warm caprese bruschetta which was just ok. Our mains were baked parmesan encrusted tilapia and for my vegetarian D, ravioli. The tilapia was huge, the pasta looked limp but I didn't try it as the fish was more than enough. Both meals were tasty enough but unappetizing in appearance. There were 3 or 4 dessert choices and we shared the bread pudding with ice cream which was nice. So whilst there was nothing jarring to write about, we are unlikely to come back simply because there are too many other good restaurants around to make it worth our while.

Excellent food and service. The mixta salad was delicious as was the veal marsala. We also ordered a lasanga to take home which was also delicious. The restaurant and restrooms are spotless . The dining room is open with lots of light making it very welcoming.

Was walking back from Jeweler's Row and the humidity was getting to us. So we stopped in on a whim. Best move we made that day. Hubby loved the sangria -- and he's really picky about them. We had the calamari to start -- the portion was huge. That can be lunch all by itself. We split a small pizza -- could easily feed three. And then hubby had to have the raspberry cheesecake. The traditional kind -- not too sweet either. The service was fantastic. He was attentive but not intrusive. The surprise was his gift at the end of our meal -- homemade lemoncello! it was amazing. This place is on our list for future visits to Philadelphia.

The wine selection was very good, but my party was disappointed with the lack of blue cheese olives for our martinis, which is a must. Most of everyone's meals were excellent - we all had good salads and soups, fresh, but not mind blowing. My negative view was my pasta. It was a great bolognese, but the pasta was under seasoned and needed more salt. The pasta tasted bland and did not marry well to the sauce. Better salted pasta and blue cheese olives and this would have been at least a 4 start dinner considering the prices were very reasonable.

I went for drinks and appetizers. We had calamari and margarita pizza - they were both great! I had one of the best Martini's here. The waiter was so much fun with his italian/jersey attitude.

The food was fine. We are theater subscribers and they give a discount but we did not have the subscriber card. We had 5 subscriber tickets. The manager would not give us the discount and was fairly nasty about it. If this is how they treat their customers and do not care if they loose business. We will never go back!

The food was good and so was the wine. But the best thing about LaScala's Fire was the wait staff. Very friendly and helpful.

Many restaurants participate in Restaurant Week in Philly with a pre fix menu, but unlike La Scalla, they provide a very restricted menu, or down size portions. There was none of this at LaScalas. It was a four course meal including starters, a salad, entre and desert. For starters there were 9 to choose from and all full portions. After the salad we were full, but the entrees came out (11 to choose from) and again delicious food, extra large portions. They packed our left overs to go. Finally we had desert again generous portions( 4 to choose from). One of the best Restaurant week menus for the value. Will go there again even when its not restaurant week. $35 per person)

We were told this was a great Italian restaurant, but it was not. We were not offered bread. The chicken parm was dry and lukewarm. My husband had a margarita pizza that he needed a chainsaw to cut through. The staff was very nice, but the food was definitely not worth the trip.

I walked into a near empty restaurant at 4:30PM and asked for a table for one. I was promptly told by the hostess that I would have to leave by 5:45 PM. I was shocked and offended, and told her so. I have NEVER in my entire life been given a departure time to leave a restaurant even before being seated. I told them I would be seated, but went to the bathroom first to wash my hands. After being seated, I asked to speak to the manager. This is where things got worse. He comes over and tells that they have 200 people coming. I tell him I've never heard of such a thing. He then commences to ask me if I'd rather not been given a table. How arrogant!!!. He asked me if I had a reservation. I said no. There was only one other person seated in the dining area, and a few people at the bar. I am so angry that I tell him to get out of my face. He then calls me an "interesting person." I have never been treated with such disrespect and disdain in any business establishment. I got up and walked out. I would not recommend this place for their poor customer service. I am utterly disgusted.

We attended the home opener and were freezing. We booked a table for 2 and 15 minutes in advance (love Open Table!). This restaurant offers a triple benefit, excellent food, a great location and validated parking in a self park garage next to the restaurant. We were seated promptly and ordered the chop salad, veal parmigiana and the chicken pasta dish. The entrees were excellent. The chop salad had too much dressing and we asked for another. The second salad was just as bad. Service was attentive and professional. There is a nice bar and ample seating. We had a booth looking on the side street, with a great view of the city on a Friday evening. As a subscriber to the Walnut Street Theater, show your card and receive 10% off the check. The parking is very convenient and the validation pays for the entire stay. I love the package deal!

Ate here on a Friday night and it was great. We had later reservations but they were able to get us in early. Staff and waiters were attentive and friendly. Service was fast. We had artichokes, pizza and pork chops. All were great.

Service was nice and timed perfect as we also wanted to continue touring. Food was good. Apps were excellent.

Great delicious food, dessert & coffee/cappuccino. Great service. Clean place. Will dine here again. We had artichoke, chicken parm & tiramisu is the best!

Food is horrible. Ordered gilled chicken ceaser salad and the meat was dried out . The manager is a racist whi doesn't respect black people.

Service was really good, I ordered the mussels also the clams and a couple different glasses of wine, everything was perfect, the sauces the seasoning and of course the wine selection. Disserts were to die for, I got the canoli, witch is the best canoli I've ever had outside of italy. The tiramisu was really good too. I would totally recommend this place.

Went there with four friends. I had the beet salad and calamari. Both were excellent. Friends had pasta dishes. My friends had the fettuccine sausage bolognese, rigatoni vodka, margarita pizza and the ravioli. They all were pleased with their food. Our server was efficient and pleasant.

We had tickets for the Walnut St Theater and decided to look for something close for dinner, especially after realizing it was restaurant week. We had a superb meal, very generous portions, great service. The meal was topped off by complimentary glasses of limoncello. I especially liked the atmosphere and would have lingered longer had it not been for the show. Definitely a place that we'd revisit!

Stopped in not knowing what to expect. Amazing! We had a sleeping child with us, so they put us in an closed dining area. The ambiance, the service, the food, the prices, all amazing. We are from out of town, but visit frequently and will certianly be coming back here. Every bite was delicious. Rosario was very attentive and even made sure we had enough to feed the baby when she wakes up. Couldn't ask for anything more. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Can't wait to come back.

My mother always says that it doesn't take ALL DAY to tell the truth! With that being said.... La Scala's has the best salads in the Art Museum area. There is always a line to prove my theory! The pizza is delicious, the wings are great....the EGGPLANT is AWESOME! That will be all.

We were here for dinner with cousins. The food was superb. Service was great. Ciro was excellent, and entertaining. We had Primitivo di Manduria wine on his recommendation. Wonderful choice. I had spaghetti with clams. It had a tasty light sauce. Not a heavy, oily meal. I left well satisfied. My wife had the artichoke appetizer and a side of pasta with mushrooms. The mushrooms were fresh, again, with a nicely flavored delicate sauce. The homemade lemoncello aperitif was very smooth, not too sweet. I'm sorry we never ate here when we lived in Philly.

This brightly warm restaurant serves Italian classics that remind you why these dishes became famous---the veal marsala, linguine with fresh clams (in the shell!) and saltimbocca are wonders of authentic flavor and fresh ingredients. The fried calamari is remarkably crisp and greaseless---a great starter. Prices are moderate---especially considering the quality of the food and the attentive service. This was our second visit and we can't wait to return.

The bar gives it away with its large screens showing sports. This is not the place for fine Italian food. Nonetheless the drinks are well prepared and come fast to the table. The pastas are good. I particularly loved the Chicken Francese, a favorite of old fashioned Italian restaurants. This dish was particularly savory, which made up for the fried calamari that was more like deep fried pieces of rubber. Hard to chew and harder to swallow. Probably made directly from frozen pieces. The waitress was attentive and efficient. Not a place for a date or for a romantic evening, but a nice Italian neighborhood restaurant.

Generous portions though inept service. Mismarked truffle pasta and the speciality of salmon stuffed with crab totally rocked us on a two hour holiday (1/2) lunch. House wine passable, but a carafe was an half of a normal carafe. Charming surroundings in a tony location. Lunch prices reasonable if you’re a nondrinker. Which we ain’t.

We really enjoyed it all. It had great atmosphere, great food, great service, and great value. The walk of three blocks was well worth it.

I was meeting with some out of town family who did not want to eat indoors. We had planned to picnic in Washington Square, but rain made that impossible. Unsure of where to go, we realized that Lascala's was just a short walk away and had some outdoor tables that were under cover. while I normally do not like to eat on the sidewalk, we really had little choice at that time. The outdoor tables were only large enough for 4 people, but the staff helped us to push 2 tables together to accommodate our party of 7. Our group ordered a variety of entrees, from sandwiches to pizzas to pasta dishes. Everything was served promptly and was very tasty. Prices were reasonable and we all enjoyed what we ordered. We were all too full to order dessert-perhaps next time. Service of our meal was fine but the check was very slow to come so my son had to go into the restaurant to pay for the meal. Other than that, we were quite pleased with our meal and would come again, preferably indoors under different circumstances.

Shared lunch here with family. Walking distance to many historical attractions. Drinks were refreshing and food was delicious. I shared the chopped salad and pizza. The salad was beyond fresh and the dressing just made it even better. The pizza had great flavor and a crispy crust. Perfect pairing. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Panini sandwiches were huge fillings were tasty but nothing special - side of fries were very good. The lasagna got a thumbs down for the sauce.

Location is the best. Very close to the tourist attractions of Liberty Bell and Independence Center. Very friendly service. We had grilled Pork Chops and Tilapia. Both were excellent.

Hubby got chicken italiano sandwich with broccoli rabe & peppers. I got margarita pizza. Sad to say we both left hungry. Neither of us liked the food. We won't be going back.

Mu husband ordered lasagna and I had fettuccine with goal cheese. It was the best pasta dish I've ever eaten. Large servings. Great bread. Great service! We would definitely come back!

Came here for a weekday lunch with family and really enjoyed it. Comfortable design and good food options. Tagliatelle was great as was the lunch special which was a take on a caprese but with prosciutto and arugula with some sort of vinegar base along with old bay fries. Much better than I expected. Looking forward to coming back here.

Close to Jeweler's Row Had lunch while exploring about the city. Frank recommended a great wine and Sergio provided fantastic table service. I recommend the Chicken San Remo. It was a delicious and attractive plate. Next time I'm in town I'll be back!!

Must have been the cook's day off! No kidding the food was terrible. Mushy Gnochi, tough, chewy Chicken, Paninini. All three of us left 2/3 of our food. This was really bad....

Very disappointed. The atmosphere is terrific but that is the only positive. Where to start- the meatball appetizer was cold. The food was horrible- we had pizza, veal and lasagna. The pasta was mushy. The salad was served after we were finished with dinner. Another positive- I forgot- our server was nice. Plus it was pricey for the quality.

We were just looking for a place to get out of the rain and happened upon this gem! For starters, they had $5.00 sangria or mimosas. The food was not overpriced, and the food was excellent. The portions are large, so plan on taking home food for your next meal (a great perk). The beet and goat salad was my favorite. But everything we ordered was good. The wait staff was professional and there when you needed them but not there when you didn't. I am going back with my friends who will be visiting from California in a couple of weeks.

This is a fantastic Italian restaurant. Great food, generous portions, pizza tasteful and service great. I extremely recommend this restaurant!!!

After reading such great reviews about LaScala Fire in Villanova we decided to go for a late lunch today. We got there at 3 and sat at the bar. We waited 15 minutes before somebody behind the bar acknowledged our presence even though there wasn’t anybody else at the bar and only two tables of diners. There wasn’t a lack of staff because we counted 10 people in staff T-shirts meandering around but mostly just talking amongst themselves. We found out that the “bartender” who finally came to take our cocktail order was the manager! He had been sitting at the bar eating and watched us the entire time without lifting a finger. We assumed he was a patron because he looked so unprofessional in a blue and white striped short sleeved top hanging over his jeans and sneakers. (The staff all had matching T-shirts). He also was eating in between making is (1) martini and pouring (1) beer and (1) glass of wine which held up our drinks for about 10 minutes… and the martini glass was not chilled which is ridiculous since we were facing a nearly empty refrigerator. Apparently after making “the” drink he didn’t feel it was his job to serve us so they sat at the serving station getting warm until the waiter served us. It took 30 minutes to get a cocktail! The waiter couldn’t of been more accommodating in fact he even suggested holding the order until we were ready for dinner because the dinners come out quickly. It also seemed that only a “bus” person could remove dirty plates/glasses, empty water bottle, etc. but that person only came to us once. The manager and the rest of the staff continued to ignore us. We had glasses upon glasses and dirty plates piling up all around us until we asked for somebody to clear them away before bringing dessert which was a decent and huge portion of Tiramisu. Also upon arrival I used the ladies room and I told the female hostess the one room was out of TP. When we were leaving I returned to the ladies room to find that it had not been replenished yet, so I told her again 🙆♀️ We agreed that the calamari could have been crispier and seasoned more, the sausage and broccoli rabe pizza was tasty but very undercooked (considering its made in a fire grilled pizza oven hard to imagine how it could be so undercooked). The cannellini and spinach pasta was under salted and had hardly any cannellini beans or spinach in it. We weren’t offered any grated Parmesan or hot pepper flakes so we asked for them …. and waited. As we continued to wait for things the manager just walked around totally ignoring us… again we were the only 3 people at the bar! We had to flag down people to get water replenished, another cocktail and for our stations to be cleaned. Didn’t take any pictures because I was too frustrated.

This is your locale Italian Restaurant. You can get a carafe of house wine and a traditional Italian meal. Great appetizers, we ordered several and shared. Busy but it was Saturday night. They also comp parking, call ahead for a reservation and parking instructions.

Popped into LaScala's for lunch with my son just before visiting some of Philly's historic sites and had an enjoyable experience. The staff was friendly and shout out to Phil who took off the kids mac n cheese when he noticed my son had only really picked at it. My meal was amazing and the space is beautifully decorated. Will definitely return!

The food was great, the restaurant is spotless and the service was simply terrific. Love the family style atmosphere and authenticity. Food comes out of the kitchen pretty quickly, we had our appetizers and entrees at the same time, I wish it was spaced better. That being said, I’m returning to Philly in a few weeks and will be back. This will be my third time.

Had Italian Sausage Bolognese. Wonderful. Simple, served very hot. Excellent. Then had lemon sherbet for dessert. Service was great. Went early as full with reservations. Sat outside. Perfect evening to be outside. Highly recommend.

A group of 6 with Walnut Street Theater tickets, met at LaScala's for a great dinner. Reservations at 6:00 were perfect as we had ample time to dine and catch up before our 8:00 curtain call. I had the veal chop, thin and tasty buried under a bed of arugula. My wife had the scallops with risotto - excellent, The other 4 dishes were also very good. We split the chopped salad as an appetizer, good to share. The place was packed, s be certain to make reservations. The location is ideal, near the theatre district as well as Old City and Independence Mall.

Portions were too large and quality of food was only fare. Service and people were very nice. Deserts were good!

Great restaurant, great atmosphere, service was excellent and the portions were huge. I will definitely be going back if in the area again. I highly recommend this restaurant

I'm lucky enough to work one block from LaScala's so it's a frequent lunch destination when we venture outside our building. I've probably had at least 80% of the items on their lunch menu and while some may not be favorites because of an ingredient here or there, everything is freshly made and the variety means I always have at least 5 or 6 things that I know I'll like. And they have specials a few times a month too. Friendly wait staff and never have to wait for a table. I just wish the prices were lower at lunchtime for the working class folk who would come more often.

My husband and I stumbled upon LaScala’s last night and we absolutely loved it. The food was delicious. First, we shared the Sirloin Bruschetta, which was fabulous. I had the Chicken San Remo (sautéed chicken, shrimp and crab meat in a vodka sauce over linguini) and my husband had the Fusilli with seafood (bay scallops, shrimp, crab meat in a vodka sauce). Both of our portions were huge. We stuffed ourselves and still brought home enough for lunch today. The portions were so large that we noticed several couples sharing one order of pasta between them. The service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful with answering our questions regarding the ingredients in our entrees. The restaurant is beautiful, it has white washed brick walls with brown leather banquets and the walls are decorated with pictures of WWII servicemen/women. The restaurant is in the heart of the historic district and is very convenient to nearby theaters. We had a wonderful time and cannot wait to go back again.

While visiting Philadelphia with my elderly father and late teenage daughter, we didn't plan well and ended up starving near Independence Hall. After a couple other spots didn't pan out, we stumbled into LaScala around dinner time. I'm not exactly sure how we got the "give us terrible service" award for the night, but we did win this honor. The restaurant was busy but we were seated right away: way, way in the back. Our server greeted us. He did nothing overtly rude or wrong: It was an overall feeling of not being very welcome that we got. I'm not sure why we were treated this way, but we all felt it. We ordered only entrees each, maybe this was why? My Dad and I both ordered alcohol. I'm not sure if we didn't meet a "per check quota" of some sort? Our overall service delivery was slow. The server poked fun at the beer my Dad ordered. We had to beg a little for bread. My daughter was facing the front of the restaurant and she watched as the server brought the desert tray to every other table down our row. When it was our turn for desert, the server offhandedly mentioned that desert was available, but did not bring the tray around. We weren't buying desert anyway, but he didn't know that. It definitely felt like we were not welcome for some reason, but I'm not sure why. Food was good. If I felt welcome at the restaurant, I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more.

We arrived without reservations and were told the entire restaurant was booked for the whole night, so we sat at the bar. We stayed for over an hour, and the tables remained empty (I think people were cancelling). We were right in front of the waiter's service station and I spent most of the meal watching them joke with each other and the hostess. The bartender was great--fast, friendly, and skilled. The food took a long time to come out and was mediocre for the price tag. I think this would have been a much nicer ambience if seated in a different location. So, make a reservation if you want to come here!

We grabbed an early dinner at La Scala. It was almost empty on a Friday at 4ish. They have outdoor sitting but it was cold and we decided to sit inside. We were promptly seated in a huge room by ourselves. We ordered margarita pizza, chicken parm and veal parm, Pino noir house wine and bread. The bread came first and it was cold. Wine was delish and good portion. The pizza was good but not wow. However the chicken and veal Parmesan over pasta were outstanding. The parm meats were prepared thin, crispy, cheesy and very tasty over soft (homemade?) pasta with sauce. So good… my husband says it’s the best veal parm he ever had and he likes to eat…. We were too stuffed for dessert but really good experience. Place is super clean, spacious and very white. Loved the old pictures on the wall which add character and warmth. Would have liked to learn about the history of the place.

Looking for a place to spend my $20 Open Table reward and found LaScala. It was close to a theater we were going to and it offered free parking (unheard of in center city). Did not expect anything special but by the time we walked out, we were big fans and looking forward to our next visit. We shared the 'Grilled Portobello and Zucchini', Baked Lasagna, and Ravioli. All were very good along with nice dinner rolls with a good dipping oil. For desert, we had a warm apple tart with ice cream, YUM. When we have more time, we will try some of the larger Entree items they offer.

I popped into LaScala's for dinner on a solo trip to Philadelphia. The wine list was lovely. The martini was wonderful and pasta was perfect. I went in with no real expectations, but had an absolutely lovely meal.

Long tired day from work meetings in the city and we were looking for a comfortablle restaurant for a quick dinner. Walked into LaScala and sat down , heard the specials and ordered the most delicious meals. Surprised st the fresh flavors of shrimp, spices and pasta with a delicious salad . No rush, wines to pare with your dish, speciality desserts .

La Scala makes its money on folks who are only going to eat there once...tourists (I'm included in that group!). That said, it is OK Italian food. They turn the tables very quickly. The service is good but things are very hurried...this is not a place for a relaxing meal. Its best quality is its proximity to a lot attractions, including the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We tried the fried calamari - don't bother. It was frozen and tasteless. The linguini and clams was basically a bowl of minimally dressed pasta. The chicken San Remo was fairly decent - it had a lot of seafood. Bottom line...you have so many options for dining in Philadelphia....pass on this one.

As soon as we entered the restaurant we knew we made the right choice to come here before our play at the Walnut. The smells that greeted us were wonderful. I had the eggplant starter which was plenty for me. Another in our party ordered the ricotta cheese starter. This came in a jar mixed with honey. And it was delicious served on the fresh breadsticks they provided. My husband had spicy tuna served on a small salad and he loved it. Another in my party had the rigatoni in vodka sauce which was also delicious. Our waiter was funny, fast with our orders and quick to fill our water glasses. He checked often to see that we were satisfied and made sure we were out in time to make the play start time. Definitely will go back and I highly recommend this restaurant for before theater or anytime you desire great food in a wonderful warm atmosphere.

Found this place by accident on our way to the baseball game. Initially I was unsure of what we had stumbled on but was quickly made to feel right at home. The waiter was absolutely amazing - he knew the menu very well & walked us thru some of the specials- Ravioli short ribs & penne vodka were both fantastic! The chef even made a -1/2 Salad for one in our party . We also tried the happy hour drinks- sangria & blood red orange margaritas- very nice on a hot night. A very friendly atmosphere & great food - we definitely will be repeat customers !!

We were in town for a convention at the convention center June 3-6. One of our managers recommended us to come here for dinner, I’m glad we listened to him. Our waiter Kevin amazing! He was patient and provided us recommendations on the menu. We started with a few appetizers: caprese, truffle Mac & cheese and the artichoke bites. Everything was so good! I ordered the pear and guyere pizza on wheat crust which was just as awesome as our appetizers. We shared the chopped salad (yum) and shared a cannoli at the end of our meal. My colleagues ordered the lasagna and the chicken Parm, they both said everything was good.

Our waiter was Rosario. He has a great voice, with a fabulous Italian accent, that he made our dinner a most memorable event, that it was like really dining out in Italy. Rosario has everything it takes to be a most interesting public speaker, and a great actor, that he should be in movies. If Rosario was the President of the United States, and he gave the State of the Union address, everyone would want to stop and listen to his speech, as he has great charisma ... It was like being on a cruise ship, where your waiter is like the Dos Equis guy, the most interesting man in the world. The food was absolutely fabulous, the service was impeccable, everybody had a great time ... Then the bill came ... and everyone started grumbling. All the food can only be best described as heavenly and totally orgasmic. All the deserts were like being on an Italian cruise ship liner. Absolutely fabulous taste, quality, and presentation. All the other waiters look so neat professional, and the kitchen staff are absolute magicians, creating meals that are so fantastic, that they take your breath away. I spent the entire dinner, thoroughly enjoying the meal, that everyone around me laughed and asked: "Did you just emit an audible: Ohh ... Num Num Num", with every bite ? I would definitely return, and I would highly recommend LaScala's to everyone, that wants a fine memorable dining out experience, with spacious, comfortable, tables.

This is amazing! We went there on Sunday night, May 14, and it was wonderful. All was delicious and the service was excellent without being hovering. We returned on Friday, and it was NOT good. poor service, poor food, microwaved bread--rubber--and tasteless salad. No one was around to bring salt and pepper. What happened?! I would NOT go there again.

We had a fabulous dinner for Restaurant Week! The food was real Italian-style (even down to the huge portions - we only ate half)! We could have shared one one meal!!! The food was well-made and delicious. Terrific service, also! The picture is of the appetizers!

The food was great, and the service was prompt and efficient. They accommodated special requests cheerfully. We were celebrating a graduation, and this restaurant was the perfect venue. Highly recommended if you're in the historic district, and worth the effort if you're not.

We went with another couple on our recent trip to Philly. Food, service, atmosphere – all excellent. The baked meatballs appetizer was simply delicious. Loved the fresh bread & oil. It was so good we went back 2 nights later. Highly recommend!

Everything looked great and if we didn’t just have a top 3 pizza at a different joint, this may be a 5 star place. Large portions prices are appropriate and portions looked huge. Convenient location right by independence hall.

excellent Italian with large portions. Best items on menu are the Arugula Salad, Parmesan Asparagus, Pork Chop and the Seafood FraDiavolo. Great Service, complimentary WiFi and Parking.

We were there on a Sunday evening for a large conference in town. large group of 8. Waiter very accomdating to large group dietary requirements ( diary allergy). Good was excellent. We had not seen each other after working together many years ago. We closed the place down, however, they never asked us to leave.

Seated almost immediately, great seat (no traffic interference, near window, close to other patrons but far enough away, etc). THE FOOD WAS GREAT! The service was fair. My only concern, because I have never experienced it before, was the disposal of the majority of my meal. I concluded because I did not eat the majority of my meal on location, it would be automatically prepared 'to go', since it was not offered. So I was floored to learn after dessert that the food was trashed! To be clear, I did NOT ask for my food 'to go' either and he did apologize. It was restaurant week but we opted out as our options were not on the exceptional menu. The food was great enough for this not to be a deterrent. I had been there before...yes, I had a 'to go' bag :)

Don't let the very upscale appearance deter you. Prices are very reasonable, and quality of the food is EXCELLENT! Lunch entrees run about $14-15 but portions are very large and two can split one and be happy. The grilled ribeye with Gorgonzola and onions sandwich was exceptionally good and we highly recommend it. The Old Bay fries were something new, and may or may not be to everyone's liking, but there were a lot of them to enjoy. Service was excellent and while not fast food quick, it did not take long for a nice meal. This is a popular place for the many professional office workers in the area who obviously know all the places but choose this one for a reason. Lots of Italian standards- pizza, stromboli, salads, appetizers, pastas etc along with sandwiches so you will surely find something you will like. If a tourist, you must go west to the next block and get a Philly soft pretzel at the pretzel shop (twists 2 for $2 as I recall). Locals like mustard on them, but that must be an acquired taste- we liked them plain.

There are lots of Italian restaurants in Philadelphia, I can't imagine any of them being better than LaScala's. The ambience, good and service were excellent.

Excellent Italian Food! All six of us enjoyed our meals at LaScala. The menu had a great selection of authentic dishes. The ambiance was clean, modern and comfortable. Great for groups!

Love LaScalas. The menu is excellent - fantastic happy hour price and they validate parking. Love it!!!

My wife and I spent the day in Philadelphia for the 4th of July. After watching The holiday festivities we decided to grab some lunch. To say that food was awful would be an understatement. Our sandwiches were bland and the service was disappointing!

We had dinner here the other night….our server warned us - portions were large and indeed they were. Wine was decent as was the food. Loved the afrogados - espresso over vanilla ice cream….Reasonably priced too.

My husband and I visited Philadelphia in November. We discovered LaScalla our first night. They have excellent appetizers and pizza. We enjoyed sitting at the bar-nice atmosphere.

We chose this restaurant because we were meeting friends who were visiting the Liberty Bell and it was an easy walk. It was a Sunday evening and the restaurant was pretty much empty. The staff was friendly but the food was very disappointing. I'm surprised by the reviews that say otherwise. There are MANY MANY MUCH better Italian restaurants in Philadelphia. We had the mushrooms stuffed with crab and they tasted like they could easily have been frozen from the local grocery store. I had veal saltimbocca that was tough, much too salty and completely uninspired. It was served with bland linguini from a box. My husband had the pork chop which was large but overcooked an buried in green peppers. Our guests had salad, very basic, nothing interesting, and pizza again nothing special, below average. The only good thing is that they validated our parking.

Glad we stopped for dinner. Great dinner, dessert and excellent service. We had no reservation and were blessed to get in straight away.

Friends and I went here for dinner when someone was in town and I had been looking to try this place. We were pleased with how many vegetarian options we saw on the menu as we had a a couple people with us who didn't eat meat. The portion sizes were quite big and will last the next 2 dinners. Drinks were very reasonably priced as well. Restaurant itself was very clean and had a formal vibe despite being a more casual place.

The appearance is upscale but the lunch menu was reasonably priced. My veggie sandwich was filling and delicious, prepared on a pizza dough roll. We loved our pre-meal nibbles of small rolls with an amazing olive oil dipping sauce. Our waiter was appropriately attentive.

As a large group of 12 it was hard to find a great restaurant that could accommodate us but we lucked out when we went to LaScala. The food was fabulous. Upon arrival the server brought wonderful bread and a sauce to dip it in. As a group we tried lots of things on the menu and everyone was a hit, from veal piccata, to gnocci, to pappardelle pasta, to ravioli. I needed an item not on the menu, spaghetti & meatballs from my grandsons and they were able to accommodate my need. The portions were large so we went home with "doggy bags" that we enjoyed later. The server was great. I would highly recommend eating at LaScala's.

Good but not great food and good but not great service. It's the sort of place I would neither fight to avoid nor go out of my way to visit.

Stopped in around 7 on Saturday night with my husband and 8 year old son after site seeing and were lucky to get a table. Not advertised, but they do have a kids menu. Certainly not a "family restaurant" but certainly kid friendly to a degree. Good wine list, food was delicious, portions were massive-ricotta board app would have served 4 adults easily if having dinner and neither of us could finish our entrees. Server was great, friendly and happy to give recommendations when I was indecisive on dinner choice. Would recommend.

We were here for an early dinner. The food is great. The service is excellent. Good choices on the wine menu and decent selection of beers on the tap. Good vegetarian options. Great value for money.

We were a large crowd and food was preordered for us and it came out family style. Multiple apps, pastas and meats. Meatballs were very good. And while I didnt eat it everyone loved the steak, pasta with sausage and chicken parm. Will def be back with the family

The food was very, very good. And although ala carte, the portions and quality were worth it. The 'roasted' Caprese salad needed a bit more balsamic yet it was a nice change of pace. Maybe a bit pricey for the small portion there. On another note - while our server was polite, he was either distracted or just out of touch. We had to ask for everything, and sometimes twice. We waited, and waited and it was frustrating for such a nice restaurant that was obviously not that busy on a Saturday night at 8-9pm, as there were a quite a few open tables. Now Terrance, another server we watched - was on the ball. More than attentive, friendly and patient with all his customers. Next opportunity, we will request Terrance.

visited before theater and was impressed. Happy hour is a great deal with half price appetizers. Had the Fried Calimari and they were the best i have ever had. and the best part is that everything comes out right away! Service is incredible and food just amazing. pretty much a safe area also. Would highly recommend this restaurant

This was just a fantastic restaurant at the end of a long day of touring. All of our meals were amazing. They even said if we come back they MUST come here again. Again....just wonderful! Thank you

rainy night and decided dinner out. walked a few blocks and decided to try this restaurant which we have passed lots of times. No reservation, sunday night at 6, seated and chose the chopped salad to split between the two of us ..it was great!, I had seafood diavalo..spicy and good over a bed of pasta. Barb had salmon and we split a cannoli for desert... Service great, food great...and the bottom line is we will go back..

We enjoyed our dinner here, and loved getting to sit outside on a beautiful Saturday night. Service was a bit slow, but overall would definitely recommend.

We had a very nice Italian meal with our family. Service was fantastic and attentive, but the food was only okay. We probably wouldn't go back since there are so many Italian restaurants in Philly. Nonetheless, it was a positive experience overall.

Great place for business, couples, family or friends for lunch or dinner. Not cheap but not ridiculously expensive. Exquisite food generous portions and service second to none. Both a dining room and a bar scene. Take advantage of their free parking offer at local garage, just get ticket validated

This was an excellent meal at a very reasonable price point. Each person had a different dish and all were very pleased with their meal.

My husband and I were in Center City enjoying the ballet and afterward I was craving papparedelle. I did a Google search and Lascala was recommended. I noticed as we were seated that the table didn't offer a salt or pepper shaker- which set my expeditions very high- for the chef to produce a tasteful and well balanced dish. Highly disappointed was an understatment. In hindsight I remember our server saying that LaScala was known for their pappardelle as being one of their best dishes. After taking 2 bites my immediate response was "WHY tf?" If the pasta was home made and fresh it was hard to tell since it was drenched in THE MOST TASTELESS, SALTLESS, under seasoned wine sauce EVER. Our server knew I was displeased yet didn't send over the manager...he just wanted to get by, I suppose. So in the end, I asked for a manger. Needless to say I was disappointed yet again. We live quite a distance from Center City, so each visit makes an impact. Maybe LaScala's chef was having a rough night, maybe our server was having a bad day, maybe the manager on duty didn't give two F's and over all it was our bad luck that we happened to try LaScala on this particular evening...LaScala wont get a second chance with us. Try at your own risk.

After a long afternoon of walking the historic center of Philadelphia, we decided on this restaurant for dinner as it is just 1 1/2 blocks from our hotel. We were quickly seated at the last remaining (back) table. Good variety on the menu with prices similar to what we pay at home (except this is USD vs CAD). Waiter sort of forgot us so it took a while before we received bread at the table but the meal itself arrived quickly. The chicken parmesan was huge, lasagna delicious and the chicken with shrimp and lump crabmeat okay. Too few shrimp (2!) and too much crabmeat which did not tickle my taste buds.

This is for the location in Villanova PA which used to be Main & Vine. Trip Advisor isn’t updated yet with this change. I’ve been wanting to try LaScala for awhile. There’s ample parking in the lot. I was able to make reservations thru Open Table. When we arrived at 6:30pm, the two people at the podium were on the phones but greeted us quickly and friendly. We asked about eating outside and they said absolutely and showed us to a table. The interior of the restaurant looked great and I look forward to dining there in the future. Seemed like there were areas with many TVs. Our server was Scottie (female). She was helpful and attentive. They do not have Coke products. She made recommendations from the menu. We started with the whipped ricotta board and stuffed long hots. Totally delicious! I could’ve eaten the ricotta all night and been happy. We did ask for extra bread which is sort of like pizza crust more than bread. Scottie let us know it’s $4 charge for extra bread. Two of us had gnocchi, one lasagna and one veggie pizza. The meals were all delicious. The food came faster than expected but I’d much rather that than waiting forever. For dessert I had the profiteroles which were really creamy and sweet. We’ll definitely be returning for future meals.

We went to LaScala's with a big group (13).The food was excellent. The wine list was good and not extremely overpriced. The hostess was very accommodating when we showed up with one extra person. The service was a little shaky- not sure if our waiter was not used to larger groups but two people ordered a caprese salad- one came out on time the other not until we were half finished with our main dish and despite us reminding the waiter. overall was a very nice meal and good atmosphere- a walk-able distance from the convention center especially after the pasta- will go back

We had a small party of 20 people after my grand-daughter Baptism. The food served family-style was plentiful and delicious. The service was beyond excellent. We were so pleased with everything!

Three of us met for lunch during the week. Arrived around noon and greated with a welcome smile. Staff attentive. Not too busy. Menu never disappoints. Reasonably priced and nice portions.

Business meeting Shared family style, chicken parm, ravioli, broccoli rabe. Tasty however chicken tough. Wait staff needs some attention to detail. Overall I would give another try

This has become a neighborhood go to place. The cocktails are good-sized, and the pasta portions are big enough that we often share the entree. We also like the chopped salad. Most of the staff are good, so that we enjoy our weekly visits.

Only the name is Italian bad food no tasty you just go there by mistake and never come back to be avoided

My wife & I hosted a Party for 'out of town' guests at LaScala's Restaurant! My own reservations for this venue were ended the moment I entered the Party Room and met the guests! The staff was EXCELLENT … treating us well … all night long! The food was plentiful and skillfully presented … homestyle !!! No one remembers the food since it was the Party that was important! The Italian fare was competently prepared but it wasn't the issue! If it wasn't up to snuff though … everyone would still be talking about it! The ambience and the staff made it happen and the night went off without a hitch!

This review might seem exaggerated, but every word I write here is genuine. The Caprese was delicious, the pizza was delicious, the service was great! It was so good, that I decided to come back the first next evening. When I come back to Philadelphia, I come back to Lascalas!

Excellent menu of popular, well prepared Italian favourites, not just pasta. Excellent daily specials; friendly, efficient servers; great for groups and dates. Super seafood Fra Diavolo!!!

I had the Chicken San Remo and ate every bite. My companion had the crab cake and also said it was delicious. The service was very attentive; when I had a spill, our server was ready with an extra napkin. We had to ask for bread but when it arrived, it seemed fresh from the oven. We split two desserts (the banana chip bread pudding and the lemon raspberry cake) and cleaned our plates again. I wish I had checked the website in advance because I could have saved a little on parking (complimentary on weekends). Also, I was surprised to see televisions. The restaurant seemed a little upscale and that gave it a "sports bar" feel. I recommend it if you are in the Old City area.

We made a reservation for lunch for three; we arrived at different times, but the restaurant was very patient. We were seated near the window. It wasn't very crowded. The piped in music was very loud, and we asked twice if it could be lowered, but not much happened. The food was very good, especially the veal piccata. We visited with our friend for a long time, but it was kind of annoying that the waiters kept wanting to remove our unfinished plates. Since it wasn't crowded, what was the rush? Service, besides that, was very good.

It was okay, the food tasted well and was served within a reasonable amount of time ( it’s a free flow kitchen so dishes come as they are ready instead of collected by order). Staff was friendly. The room was quiet dark though

Even though they don’t have a kids menu they will offer you the basic kids fare. Speedy, efficient service, good location, interesting menu & tasty food.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch and everything was very good. The waiter was excellent. I would go back.

In town for business and had the opportunity to have dinner with an old college friend. It was delightful; company, food, atmosphere, service, and price. I rated the restaurant as average because it was as expected. Nothing stood out, but I also didn't have any complaints. I had reservations but they were not required and/or needed. We lingered over dinner and were not rushed.

Lunch was so good we went to the LaScala's in Glassboro for dinner. Antipasta superb, Grandma's Pie was unbelievable tasty, hot, fresh and exciting. Dining room spotless, Wait staff in uniforms, clean Bistro aprons, tile and appointments stunning. POS system real fast and bar/ wine list first class. I will bring family here for sure, as we travel here routinely. Thank you, great job

My husband and I were in Philly for the weekend and we were wandering around trying to find a place to eat. Stumbled onto this restaurant Friday night and our dinner was amazing! We had the baked tomato caprese and risotto balls (3) with a marinara sauce for an appetizer and we shared the Veal Saltimbocca. The caprese was amazing. The risotto bites were very good but one was enough for each of us due to the richness of the dish. The veal was so delicious that my husband and I couldn't stop raving about it. The ingredients seemed to be top quality and there was a very generous portion of spinach, proscuitto, and mozzarella. The marsala sauce was so good. There were two large portions of veal and the overall serving size was very generous. Very best saltimbocca we've ever enjoyed! The service was also top notch. We were surprised that this place was not completely packed on a Friday night. If/when we are in Philly again, we will definitely seek out this restaurant again. Just one thing... we ordered the Ruffino Lumina Pinot Grigio. This is our "go-to" wine at home and we can typically purchase for $8-10 a bottle so I thought the markup to $40/bottle was a little high. Still the dinner was well worth it!

Simple enough menu with nice choices. Prices reasonable. Food was excellent! Great location near the Bell! Very good and recommended.

The restaurant is conveniently located close to the main historical sights. The pizzas were very good and reasonably priced. We went first on a Saturday (reservation recommended) and returned on Sunday (no reservation requires).

This was the second time to this resteraunt and both times were exceptional. The pasta is home made and cooked to perfection. The staff was friendly and service very fast. Highly recommended

La Scala was a recommended by one of the guards at Constitution Hall. Good Italian food at a decent price, less than two blocks from Independence Mall and with an average $15 plate, this restaurant was exactly what we needed mid-tour. Note: the plates are big. We split an appetizer, entre, and salad AND STILL HAD FOOD TO BRING BACK. The seafood fettuccini and Caesar salad were both good. But the star of this story is the sausage and peppers. Savory—just on the verge of salty—and satisfying, this appetizer was a meal unto itself. La Scala packs their food to go in a plastic container, which makes for easy microwaving. We thoroughly appreciated that later in the evening when leftovers made for a convenient dinner. We would go back.

The food in this LaScala's is fantastic I would recommend this one at 7th and Chestnut sts in Philadelphia I have not been to their other restaurants but I know the one in Philly is wonderful. Their other restaurants in jersey I will have to give them a try but Philly will not disappoint

A cross between a traditional Italian restaurant and something of a sports bar. The food is very good, the service staff is excellent. Prices are most reasonable given the quality of the food and the location of the restaurant.

Our server could not have been more attentive or kind. They had tv's for viewing sporting events, which was a plus during March Madness. The food was phenomenal. We had salads, pizza, and stromboli. The pizza was some of the best I've ever had. A must!

A very pleasant meal The menu is extensive with lots of gluten free options. We sat outside in the Indian Summer weather. The serving staff were very friendly.

Great choice for dinner. We really enjoyed the food and service at La Scala. Really good choices especially their salads and pizza. Staff was really friendly. Prices were very reasonable considering location.

This is not my first time eating at this restaurant. I first visited it years ago when the name was "LaScalsa's", the food was excellent. Fast forward to 2024 the restaurant is now called 'LaScala's FIRE" and the food is Not good anymore. - We had Gnocchi, unflavored an hard like a rock and could not finish it. - We also had Pizza Margherita, terrible. The sauce look & taste as it was a tomate puree just out of a Sysco tomato can, unflavored, could not finish it. It is sad, since that was my go to restaurant in Philly. On the other hand, the service was really good.

A large group of friends (8 of us) had dinner at LaScala's the night before the half marathon this past November. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and felt service was good. The food was just ok and the cost was high. I do not think it was worth what we paid and would not return.

We stopped in for happy hour which was a very affordable place. Ended up getting appetizers as well. Drinks were very good, service very good, I had the egg plant crisps which were very tasty. I tried my husbands calamari which was very salty and over cooked. Not the best but would definitely try this place again.

I wish I would have found this place the first night of my stay instead of the last, it was by far the best restaurant I went to while in Philly. Also the prices were super reasonable and portions big!

I would say- it’s fine. Standard Italian- but nothing special. Got a Panini- waaaay too much bread- outside was toasted, but inside was soggy. The prosciutto they used was not flavorful. I ended up taking the things out of the panini and eating it like a salad. The service was great- but I wouldn’t return. Seems like a last resort for tourists, but not a place you would come if you lived in town.

we had dinner January 26th during restaurant week, service and food was excellent. the waiter even added a sweet finishing touch by bringing out limocello when we finished our meal. I love this restaurant we were even able to see the motorcade that was in the city that night drive by, definitely give this place a try you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend the tilapia, the antipasta salad and the fried risotto!

We went here at lunchtime. We started out at Joneses, across the street but it was an hour wait. We came here and got a table right away. Clearly nobody wants to eat here. I now know why. The food was ok but ridiculously overpriced. They have very limited drinks. Our waiter was very slow and uninterested and seemed to have no idea how to describe the menu. We were also told they have no restroom. Just a poor dining experience.

Service was very good. Sat outside, but it is on street so noisy. Food and wine were quite acceptable. Mussels were excellent; spicy tuna and salmon were good. Good cappuccino. However, LaScala is just not in the same league as Tatula's Garden either in ambiance or food but almost as expensive.

Love this restaurant. Went for dinner the night before the philly marathon. Had delicious pasta. Friendly staff and great service

I had a business lunch here and was absolutely pleased with it. The restaurant decor is very tastefully done, the wait staff was efficient and very nice and the food was terrific. The sauce on my Margherita pizza was very tasty! I'll come here again next time I'm in Philadelphia.

My kids and I happened in here on a Friday night. I probably should have been suspicious that we could get a table with ease. The positives - the bread was good, the waiter was fine (albeit slow), and the location was great. The food was just meh. Nothing exciting and in some cases disappointing. The "grilled artichoke" appetizer wasn't grilled at all. The goat cheese and beet salad was over dressed and had clearly been sitting around - the lettuce was soggy. The pizza was limp crusted and uninspired. The desserts were fine, but nothing to write home about frankly. Overall, it was a wholly mediocre meal. We've eaten much better at places in the same area. Skip this one.

The food was delicious. I had a very nice experience there and would definitely go again if I have the chance.

My husband and I went to LaScala’s for a quick lunch. The host was friendly and seated us at a window table high top. Kevin was our server. He was on point! Not a big talker but a friendly and attentive server. A+. I had the chicken Milanese which looked spectacular but could have used less balsamic drizzle (personal preference) maybe get it in the side, instead. My husband ordered a steak and cheese Stromboli. It was good but huge and he didn’t finish it or take it home. Overall, a decent lunch.

I went there for lunch and I already knew what I wanted. So, the service was not that great. They took too long.

With extensive experience in restaurant and pizza Lascala has perfected the pizza crust. Great toppings and sauce. I had eggplant/ricotta pizza. Homemade tiramisu was one of the best I've had! Full Italian restaurant menu. Upscale bar and clientele but good for post game dinner as well.

This is a very nice place for pizza and many other dishes. It is a bit place that has good flavors on all of the dishes. This is a must try.

The very best of Italian food. Old style Italian cuisine, no better to even dream of. Perfect crew, perfect service Huge potions and the taste.... Absolute delicious. If you're in town you've got to try it! There's a dish for everyone.
Echoing a lot of reviews here
Echoing a lot of reviews here - great apps - huge portions - just ok on the veal entrees. Stick with the appetizers pastas pizzas and salads.
