Terrific Place

By Jerry T |

Wondering the streets looking for a place for breakfast and so happy we found this place. Service and staff were terrific. The Housemade Granola topped with fresh fruit was a meal in itself and fantastic!! Others had the french toast and egg & cheese sandwich and loved them. Lots of locals there which was also a good sign.

Fabulous!

By Samantha D |

This place is amazing! I am so glad we stumbled onto them! The best part is ordering the Large Late... and having it come out in a bowl for the first time. I had the breakfast sandwich while I was there and the ham and cheese croissant was delicous. I am sad I had to leave them behind

Microwave eggs!

By Marilee H |

I like that they had a salmon/egg combo for breakfast but the microwaved egg was gross! I won't be having eggs there again!

Great lunch

By ahself |

Found this gem while driving through the area and checking TA for a lunch spot. Everything the six of us ordered tasted great. The highlights were the open faced mushroom sandwich, the club, the chocolate croissants, and the chocolate ganache tart.

Tasty and worth it every penny

By lotrav12 |

I had the the club sandwich with chips and lamb pesto mini sandwich. Awesome flavor, melts in your mouth. The only cons is caffe latte cup was freezing.. Good service

Good breakfast spot

By Ken R |

Good place for breakfast near the Wharf in San Francisco. Was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. The coffee and meal was very good and reasonably priced.

All good stuff :)

By CLPope |

We found this great spot when visiting Golden Gate Park. It was one of the few restaurants on 9th that had sufficient seating. The cashier was very patient with us while we figured out what to order. All our meals were delicious and feeding our family of 6 was fairly reasonable. I also noticed a stack of games in case you want to hang around. Special note: Their chai is great and served in a bowl; kind of funny but our kids loved it

Order by the bowl

By DayTripper084 |

I like this restaurant, particularly the one on Columbus. Not only do you get a great cafe au lait but an almond croissant goes nicely with this beverage. Have a bowl to prolong the taste plus start a conversation.

Excellent food, great selection

By KeHin |

We have eaten here 2 days running as we enjoyed the first breakfast so much. The scramble breakfast is lovely, and so is the coffee. There's a great selection of dishes and I was well catered for as a vegetarian. Wifi would be a bonus, but the great food makes up for the lack of it.

Wonderful place for breakfast and lunch!

By drlynnrose |

I found this place on my very last day visiting San Francisco and all I can say is, "Wow!" I came here for breakfast and returned the same day for lunch! The food is fresh and delicious. The pastries were divine and the salads were delicious. For lunch, I ordered a salad of roasted beets and goat cheese to ease my guilt at having devoured a chocolate hazelnut croissant for breakfast. Since I was feeling good about the salad, I decided to "reward myself" with a slice of the chocolate tart for dessert. (By the way, the salad was excellent with fresh ingredients.). I guess it is a good thing for my waistline that I found this place on the last day of my visit, otherwise, I may have come home with a few extra unwanted lbs.

Coffee and pastry in little Italy

By christina T |

Little Italy is a street lined with restaurants, sidewalk cages, and decadent pastry shops. La Boulange brews an organic cup of coffee that would meet the expectations of any NW traveler, an even lovelier bowl of cappuccino, and the pastries to accompany your brew top the cake! Pull up a sidewalk seat and enjoy while the world goes by.

Parisian chic

By Sarah |

Lovely cafe. I adore the parisian ambiance. It's hard to go wrong with free coffee refills. I recommend coming here in the morning with a good book or a laptop. It's a fine place to get work done. I suggest going for breakfast.

My kind of food

By RandRCalifornia |

This place had everything I like to eat for breakfast; croissants, pastries, egg sandwiches, yogurt with house made granola and fruit ( had this 2 days in a row - want it now!) and very good lattes and other coffee drinks served like they do in France in cappuccino bowls instead of cups. My son got a turkey - bacon club sandwich as he is not a sweet for breakfast kind of guy. They have something for everyone - good quality - good amount of seating, not terribly cheap but not too pricey, good portions(except for the French toast - unlike the American version this was more like a small French toast soufflé).Within walking distance of many of the Union Square hotels.

Great Service

By birdie57 |

We were driving by this little restaurant, and decided to try it. I had an open face sandwich of hummus and veggies. It was good, but not much to it. For almost $9, there was a schmear of hummus, cucumber, a piece of tomato and a little sprouts. It came with a small fruit salad. The food tasted okay, but overpriced for what it was. My husband had a salad with smoked trout that was a good size and delicious. I will probably come back and give it another try. It is a very pleasant place with a very friendly staff.

Coffee from a fish bowl

By karlconnolly |

This is my go to place for lunch. Great food, coffee and location. I love to sit outside even on a chilly day (with heat lamp) and enjoy the fresh food choices, hugemongouse coffee cup portions of au lait. Looking forward to going back next time i am in San Fran.

French style

By rpph |

A great place to eat if you love the arrogance and rudeness that normally is only found with Paris waiters. The food is good though, albeit overpriced.

Delicious!

By Indogirlco |

This delightful cafe has a wide selection of pastries, delicious coffee, and some of the best hot chocolate I've had in the U.S. Service was quick and friendly, and the prices were excellent. Highly recommended for a quick breakfast or a sit and relax cafe.

Good coffee on the go.

By chauvelise |

A good place to stop by with a friend for a cup of coffee. The place looks a little tired. The staff is very friendly.

Gross disorganization leads to an inferior breakfast experience

By Countrybound |

The pastries, breads, ad quiches looked amazing. I was here for breakfast though, so I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich and my mom an omelette. After waiting for at least a half hour, my mom went inside to check on our order, which was supposed to be brought to our table. The order had been mislaid. After another 10 minutes and another trip inside to check on the status of things, our order was brought out. However, almost everything about the order was incorrect. Both dishes were supposed to come with potatoes, but we received none. We had both requested greens instead of fruit salad, but received fruit salad. My mom's omelette did not have cheese in it, which she had requested. My breakfast sandwich was not on sourdough bread, which I had requested. The sandwich itself was not bad, but not great. It seemed like others were experiencing the same thing, since we saw dishes being sent back, and the manager was called out to deal with what seemed like a complete lack of organization. Maybe we would have had a better experience had we just ordered pastries that were ready to eat, but unfortunately we did not and won't be back to try any after our negative experience.

Delicious breakfast and coffee!

By ArkansasEats |

My husband and I went here twice in our short visit to San Francisco last week. The first time we had a fantastic breakfast- organic oats sweetened with honey and a delicious chocolate croissant- then we went back a different day for an afternoon cafe au lait. We love the casual, relaxed atmosphere and the delicious food- definitely a place you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. I highly recommend La Boulange!!

Incredible French Bakery in SF

By TomR4012 |

This is probably my most favorite French bakery in the United States! The breads and pastries are wonderful, and quite modestly priced. Their organic coffee is to die for. I could spend half the day here [and occasionally have done so].

Parisian Transformation

By DayTripper084 |

I feel transformed every time I visit this lovely cafe & bakery. The bowl of cafe au lait tastes so delicious and I feel like I am in Paris, savoring the flavor and watching the world pass by. It is such a nice feeling. Therefore, it made no sense when I went in today on 07/03/2015 and heard that it was closing in September, 2015. It makes no sense!

A better Start

By Paul J |

Located near the corner of Laguna and Union in Cow Hollow, La Boulange helped my wife and I start many days of our seven day culinary escape to San Francisco with simple but beautifully prepared baked goods and egg dishes. Many reviews here start with well deserved raves about the pasteries. But have an omlette to understand the professionalism that comes with each entre. Cooked more slowly and at a lower temperature than an American omlette, the French counterpart found here melts in your mouth with its ingredients at a matching temperaure yet still firm and fresh. Well worn and sparsely furnished, La boulange provides excellent french breakfasts in a casual cafe environment. Enjoy!

Excellent casual breakfast

By Carlo G |

Friendly service. Really good quality bread and omelettes. Great coffee and you can sit outside and watch people walk by. Clean inside and out too. Great place for quick breakfast.

Great for breakfast!

By Jo_M28 |

We tried La Boulange for breakfast and it was a great choice! They offer a great range of sandwiches and baguettes, as well as pastries and pies, and hot snacks. All is freshly-made and at affordable prices. They have shops all around San Francisco. Service is friendly and fast. Definitely recommend for either breakfast or lunch.

A chain that's worth the visit

By smithley |

We ate at the La Boulange near our hotel (Omni San Francisco) twice and had very pleasant service, excellent coffee and a delicious quiche. We also split a wonderful smoked trout salad (and my husband is definitely NOT a salad person) at the location near the Yerba Buena gardens. This isn't a fancy place - you order, get a number and then they bring you your food - but it certainly met our needs.

Nice coffee shop, very sad to hear Starbucks own it

By Belgo96 |

I would not have come here if I had known that Starbucks have bought it out. I hate chains, especially chain coffee shops. Without that knowledge, I enjoyed my lunch at La Boulange on Union Street. The lunchtime soup/sandwich combination was great value and there were some healthy choice salads in their cabinet. For any Australians reading this - note that they actually make a decent coffee here like we are used to.

Like Paris

By gwaltney |

I love this small and friendly restaurant. The food was delicious and authentic. They even had canele- a unique French pastry. I wish I could have tried everything in the case. My croque Madame was perfect. The staff was lovely, friendly and kind. We'll go back before we leave San Francisco.

Very good

By JP R |

The great coffee in a bowl, the croisants and bagels are awesome. Good for breakfast. There is more than one in town, the best is near Union square.

The best coffee

By kiwi47 |

We ate several times at two branches of La Boulange. The food is outstanding and the coffee was the best that we found in downtown San Francisco. I wish that we had found the Union sq branch earlier in our stay. The service was quick and efficient. We will recommend La Boulange to friends.

Excellent

By A27dec |

Had breakfast here every morning during our stay in San Francisco. The choice, quality and quantity cannot be faulted. Difficult to say what my favourite breakfast was but the French Toast and fruit would probably be top! We still talk about it now we are home. Hope to go back to San Francisco net year so at least we know where breakfast will be eaten.

Great, quick breakfast

By foodrunner29 |

My wife and I ate here because we walked by it and were starving. I ordered the oatmeal which was really good. Fresh fruits like bananas, strawberries and blueberries were added to my oatmeal. The oatmeal was made with low fat milk and not water which is awesome!!! The oatmeal or fresh oats as they call it on the menu was really good. My wife ordered the egg sandwich with avocado. She also enjoyed her sandwich but not as much as I liked my oatmeal. This is a grew place to order some thing on the way to work or eat some thing on the go. The food was good and service was relative quick (about 5 - 10 minutes after ordering).

Disappointing

By coliver738 |

Thought this would be a unique breakfast place within Union Square area. However, the food was generic and pastries were not freshly made. The coffee was stale and not flavorful. All around disappointed and not as unique as had thought.

Excellent Cafe in SF

By ufaogros |

Wonderful Cafe in SF. Croissant was delicious, and the cappuccino was served in a bowl \0/. If you are around sf, don't miss it

Perfect for lunchtime

By Oceanomundi33 |

A very good "Coq au vin" tartine. Tasty, generous and nicely cooked lentils. Well organized, nice location but a little bit crowd at lunchtime.

It's become a little chain like

By CooksofCrocusHIll |

Used to always make the hike up to Polk. Then the became associated with Starbucks. Great for the company, fine for the customers. Now, I'd have to say, it's good if there's one close and you're looking for a quick bite or a cup of coffee. It beats many of the alternatives

Delicious!

By Kimberly W |

Loved the ambiance of this place and the veggie burger!! We came here for a bite since we didn't want a "sit down" restaurant. You walk up to the counter, order and they bring your food to you once done. The food was fairly quick and absolutely delicious!!! The variety was great and there were several vegetarian options to choose from.

So good morning

By Beamiao |

A quiet place where you can have breakfast near union square, the food is great and the service impeccable! Well done keep it up!

A great way to start the day!

By Carolina C |

We had breakfast at La Boulange a few times during our stay in San Francisco. We tried some of their egg sandwiches, pastries, cakes, specialty coffees and they were all very, very yummy. You really cannot go wrong! We highly recommend it!

The Best Almond Croissant

By Wanda Z |

I stop by for quick snack and order the almond croissant, had a lot almonds, the croissant was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. The best almond croissant I have eaten. Also, I took home a French bread for sandwiches which lasted two days and it was very good. The staff was friendly and I can not wait to go back.

Great food!!

By darkchickvbd |

Went twice because it was seriously that good the fruit was supper fresh would recommend the raspberry spread on the toast simply a must!!

Everything is delicious!

By SaladAlexander |

Addictive food. Best Almond Croissant in the world. We've just spent 5 days in SF, and I've worked my way through their menu for breakfast because our hotel, Park Central, no longer offers room service. At first I was cranky about that, but La Boulange makes getting up in the morning a treat. The gals that work there are so friendly and seem to enjoy what they do. Love this place!

Living in its past glory...

By bruiserchick |

La Boulange was THE place to go for a little reminder what French cafes are. The croissants and baguette sandwiches were a little reminder of Paris. NO MORE! From the coffee to the pastries to the sandwiches, it's all MEH. The baguette sandwiches were taken from almost a freezer like holding area. The "fresh" bread is stale and chewy. The bread is almost too cold to eat. The staff offered to warm it up. Warm up a baguette sandwich?! I frequented La Boulange before it was sold to Starbucks. Now, it's just another place for mediocre food. Sad.

We just keep coming back

By Wesley Y |

Best place in all of SF for a good latte and pain au chocolate. Also great sandwiches and salads. but really this place is about the coffee and patisserie

This place is amazing!! Great coffee and great pastries!

By opaz |

I really like this place! I came here every morning while I stay in San Francisco. Looking forward to my next time:-) Also, the service was excellent!

Great food, great atmosphere

By Shar1805 |

Walking down Union Street we were drawn into La Boulange by the number of people there - both standing in line at the counter and sitting at the tables outside. The coffee (served like cafe au lait in France; in large bowls) was very good and the cakes were delicious.

Good food, fast service and friendly staff

By Sashe S |

I was going to Starbucks and I saw this place . It was busy inside so I decided to go and ordered something . Line was going fast , lady on the register was nice and the service was fast too. I will recommend over Starbucks for sure . If you are in the area , is great place to have your morning breakfast .

reasonably average

By ChefLuigiBo |

we had lunch at the downtown La Boulange. The choices of panini offered were creative and good. However, the French onion soup did not even resemble one. The system works well, it is fast and well organized and the setting was expansive and nice, but the warm food could use an improvement.

Delicious

By Leila G |

What a find! Great breakfast and brunch restaurant. The service was really friendly. The omelette was fantastic, so was the duck with eggs. Coffee comes in a bowl which is such a novelty. There are loads of condiments that you can help yourself too which can make a great addition to your meal as well as free coffee refills. I took a fellow Trip Advisors advice and had an almond croissant - best I ever had! You can eat in or take out - you should definitely visit for breakfast.

casual dinner spot

By skays56 |

Great people behind the counter taking orders. Good food. I had the tomato soup and grilled cheese sand. Hit the spot on a cool evening. Casual atmosphere and nice to be able to sit and relax and people-watch as they walked by.

Hit and Miss

By KatiCCR |

Great atmosphere. I would order a breakfast with fruit which you wouldn't get in Paris in a typical cafe. Their pastries looked wonderful but I would not recommend the openface goat cheese or flank steak sandwhiches - the chicken sandwich was very good. Although they said it was popular, the pesto and goat cheese were dry and baked into the bread while the sun dried tomatoes and portobella mushrooms were almost non existent. Great little place but order after observing what people have chosen. The French onion soup was also just okay - no bread, no cheese.

Great bakery + Reasonable priced meals = lots of visits

By Lena_989 |

I don't often go back to the same place when I'm travelling but this was quite the exception. Had breakfast here every morning just so I could try all the delicious options. Service is fast despite a busy morning rush. The pastries and bread are fresh and soooo tasty. Highly recommend it!

Nice food and locations

By Ryan C |

Great food, great assortment of food. It was a nice experience, especially to know it is owned Starbucks. I got the lemonade.

Cute breakfast place

By Alexandra C |

My friend lives close to here so we walked over for breakfast and I was overwhelmed with many delicious choices. They have a case of pastries which looked tasty and a menu offering eggs in many different varieties. The cold brew coffee in the bottles was also very good!

Sorry, no picture...

By Tracy |

...because my first bite of that almond croissant was so great I didn't sit it back down! Great coffee also.

GREAT food, really exceptionally tasty

By BiddyNZ |

Went to the one on California near Montgomery. A wonderful array of food, so very very tasty yesterday for lunch that we went back again today for breakfast! The prosciutto and Swiss roll was a mouth explosion. Coffee was good. Breakfast granola was amazing and packed with quality fruit. Will go again before I leave this great city...

A little piece of special

By Bruce Mackay |

We looked this place up by walking union street till we remembered it from last year. It is fantastic. The food is fantastic from the pastries to the menu. Value from money is the best.

Great food, simple but awesome

By KP |

We were walking around Little Italy looking for a cafe where we could order a piece of pizza and sit down. We went in here because we were tired of listen so we sort of just fell into it. Boy were we glad we did! They offer pastries and sandwiches for food and an array of coffee drinks.(I think they have breakfast as well but we went for lunch). We ordered a chocolate croissant and they offered to warm it up (what an idea, idk why this is not commonplace!). My friend had the boulange club and enjoyed it. I had a caesar salad - one of the best i ever had. I typically don't really like the dressing on caesar salads so often ask for it on the side. I forgot this time and I was glad. It was such a light dressing that it did not overbear the lettuce as it usually does so the caesar salad gets an A++!! Staff is super friendly. When you order they give you a number and you sit down and they bring the food to you. Water is free (and they even give you real glasses for it!). So if you want a tasty nice sit down lunch I highly recommend this place!

The Best Tuna Melt Ever

By Leslie S |

My husband and I took a break from shopping in this lovely restaurant. My husband had a smoked salmon open-faced sandwich which he really liked. I had the best tuna melt sandwich ever. It had apples and tomatoes under the cheese. What a treat!

Wonderfully nourishing and healthy food

By wendy b |

This cafe was close to our hotel. We had trouble trying to find something healthy to eat for breakfast without eating bagels and donuts which seemed to be everywhere! We finally sat down to eat at lunch time and found La Boulange. We had a wonderful chicken leg casserole braised with mushrooms on a bed of brown rice with good coffee (without all the cream on top!). Their biscuits and breads are beautifully baked, and should not be missed.

Great place for breakfast and lunch !

By love5star18 |

We were recommended this lovely place by the concierge in our hotel. We went in and the place was packed with people enjoying their lunch. We had the warm goat cheese salad with candied walnuts . Then we couldn't resist the almond croissant which was to die for. The coffee was great as well. I could have ordered everything on the menu. It all looked so amazing!

awesome breakfast

By starla729 |

I went to La Boulange soley based off reviews and boy were they right! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. The pastry selection was extensive and everything looked amazing. I was torn between the oatmeal and french toast for breakfast, but went with the french toast and was not disappointed. I also had a latte which was delicious. I wish I went back to try other items on their menu because everything looked so fresh and good. I definitely recommend!

Happy to walk past TWO *$ to get to this gem!

By Angie G |

Yes, I walked past two Starbucks to get to this darling little bistro near The Moscone Center in San Francisco. The coffee is perfect and they make their own syrups in house. I don't typically sweeten my coffee, but my husband loves hazelnut lattes and I tried a sip and then tried to steal. Didn't work, had to return for my own, there's is like a toffee. Yum. Sad to hear from the hotel's doorman that Starbucks has bought them out and will be closing this location because there are already two *$ on that block. Ugh - I was happy to walk past both to get a really good coffee with house made syrup and absolutely perfect french pastries. Perfect.

Great Breakfast!

By Mary Beth C |

If you've been traveling for several days with no real meal, stop at La Boulange for great coffee and Bfast - service is efficient, bread is extremely fresh, coffee is hot and food is flavorful. Extremely good food and coffee!

Nice little place to get some breakfast

By ssarmazi |

Not much seating available, but the food and the coffee was quite good, in a very convenient spot downtown. Try the Lorraine frittata with the red pepper sauce - it was excellent!

Changed...and not for the better

By RandRCalifornia |

I was so disappointed to go toone of my favorite breakfast places in San Francisco only to find out they've changed - and not for the better! They used to have yogurt with fresh berries and house made granola, now it comes in pre-made cups. My latte was luke warm at best and when i asked if they could heat it up they said all their coffee comes that way now.. They re-made it for me "extra hot" but forgot about it so I didn't get it until i was done eating and lo and behold- it was luke warm again. Their baked item selection was smaller as well. I'm afraid since Starbucks acquired them they are no longer the same.

Tasty, healthy, cosy

By joschmidtx |

Been here 2 times already on business trip to SFO and love it as I nice, healthy, cosy, European style cafe.

Nice environment and healthy options

By Fernando S |

I came to this place to dine - it was indeed a good surprise as I was wanted some healthy options. I got a soup of the day (cream mushroom soup), a lentil salad and a fresh lemonade. The portions are good.

Great coffee and food.

By Eric W |

Great place next to Yerba Buena park. Grab a pastry or a full breakfast from their many delicious choices and enjoy a moment in the park.

Wonderful Paris experience in Marina District

By Ron D |

Took me back to Paris. Great breads, pastries, coffee drinks and service. You must try to almond croissants.

Breakfast is okay

By Peter S |

The croissants are great but its not as cheap as promised. The price is regular and the eggs are not so good. The staff is friendly but there are definetly better places for breakfast!

European touch #1 breakfast cafe in SF

By meriah |

This is a lovely cafe close to Washington Square with a large variety of organic food and bakery goodies. An ideal place for breakfast, brunch, lunch, coffee... Opens at 6.30 a.m. (weekends 7a.m.). Good to know that a large capuccino is -- well, very large and served in a bowl. (No wifi and so no office nomades with lap tops).

Delicious Pastries

By newyorknatives |

First time in San Francisco and I visited La Boulange in the mall. Their food is delicious and their pastries were even better. I had ordered the creme brulee and several other desserts. They were all great. Highly recommend,as the food is good and fresh and the atmosphere is amazing.

Great food and low cost

By Someotherland |

Walked from Union Square through Chinatown looking for inviting place for lunch. Found it at La Boulange! Ordered Quiche and coffee and only paid $7! Coffee came in a bowl (huge) and the quiche was just perfectly made.

Quick and Delicious Lunch On the Go

By Pam M |

I was staying at a hotel nearby and needed a quick lunch before heading back to a conference and was directed to La Boulange by a hotel employee. I am hoping to go back when I am not in a hurry as there were so many great choices and the staff bent over backwards to confirm that nothing I ordered contained nuts. This is the only La Boulange outlet I have visited but the location is immediately adjacent to Yerba Buena Gardens resulting in a beautiful, green light-filled space. I hope to go back when I am less rushed to enjoy a big cup of coffee and a pastry.

Good Coffee and Breakfast Bites

By blackslon |

La Boulange is a cozy breakfast place in China town, SF. We went there for a quick bite but breakfast items such as eggs, etc. are also available. Coffee is strong and food is delicious. I recommend the Quiche (veggie, ham/cheese, or potato/ham - $4.50), which is quite sizable and filling; or if you prefer the morning sweets, try their pastries; there is a great selection. You can also buy pre-packaged cookies and other sweets at the shop. Customer service was very adequate.

Wonderful wonderful coffee bar and eaterie

By johnnydogmatic |

Toally San Fran, great spacious old-fashioned ambience and incredible organic coffee, granola and other coffee house snacks and meals.

Financial District Lunch

By travelsanti |

I actually went to the La Boulange Restaurant on California Street with a co-worker. Great selection of sandwiches and soups (and of course pastries). The only complaint I have is that it was incredibly noisy and it was very difficult to carry on a conversation.

Nice for a quick lunch

By GemWA |

Our family visited this café/bakery on our last day in San Francisco and we were looking for somewhere to grab some lunch before checking out of our accommodation so didn't want anywhere which was going to take ages. The menu looked terrific and the place was busy but we managed to get two tables together so all good. The food while nice enough was not exceptional or particularly memorable. The atmosphere was certainly good. The quiche was average and with all the meals, they were not great value for money. We ate out in San Francisco for 6 nights and 5 days and this place underwhelmed. The cup cake shop next door certainly helped fill the gap and the café is in a lovely street in Cow Hollow so location is great, atmosphere is good but the food needs to be more generous and flavoursome.

Ok, so there's good things and NOT SO Good things going on here!

By Lisa B |

The food was really good and as a walk up restaurant it gets an A+ for food quality and cleanliness. Unfortunately for us, we were literally put upon by a crazy homeless person who tried to sit at the table with my husband, two kids and me, while we were sitting inside the restaurant. When I told him that we were all good and that to please move on he started screaming at me. He called me all kinds of bad names, tried to fight with my husband and terrified my two kids. The interesting part.... no one tried to help us, not the workers, other diners, nothing. It finally took one brave employee, after literally 5-10 minutes of this (a small woman even though there were men working there) who stood like 20 feet away from us with a broom telling the man that she had called security and the police (that never bothered to show up) to finally get him to leave. Talk about an experience!!!

Great French toast, general good choice

By Jack B |

We visited twice, once for a quick late lunch and a weekday breakfast. Line was way too long on a Sunday, so we went elsewhere. Lunch was a split club sandwich, which was excellent and orders of fries and fruit. Sandwich was excellent, fries were fresh and hot with mayo, and fruit was typical. Went for breakfast on a Monday, and my wife's French toast was in a totally new category of food we will never forget. Made in a round form, it had the texture and taste of a custard. Exceptional and unique. My mushroom omelette was very good, but so are 100% of omelettes. We will go back for two orders of the French toast.

Excellent bakery and coffee shop!

By r0yalty |

Went here a couple of times on a recent trip to SF. The baked goods were fresh, the coffee was good too!. We loved the ambience and feel of the place and wished we'd eaten more of the sandwiches and other fare. The veggie quiche was fantastic, as was the chocolate croissant and the pecan tart was amazing!

Tasty and Adorable

By the_kelly_g |

Such a cute little coffee shop! The atmosphere was very friendly and inviting with a lot of people brunching and chatting. The service was friendly and very quick. And the food was very good. The pastries look out of this world but I was in the mood for lunch so I had the open face tuna melt sandwich, which was extremely good. Next time I come I want to try their beet salad!

Outstanding

By RRRinMemphis |

Clean, efficient, helpful personnel and very good coffee, pastries and sandwiches--what more can you ask for? I was pleased with each of the locations of La Boulange where I ate. By all means give it a try. Soon to be at your local Starbucks!

Delicious bread pudding!

By Laaia A |

La Boulange has great coffee, but my most favorite item on their menu was an old fashioned bread pudding, which was out of this world. My grandmother was a great baker and I have never had a bread pudding I considered good enough to compare to hers or better yet, to consider edible. Needless to say, for me to consider this bread pudding as my favorite (outside of my grandmother's) really means a lot. Although it seems that this is a seasonal item on their menu, I can't wait to visit San Fran again and hope to be lucky enough to enjoy it once again. DELICIOUS!!!

Great, quick service

By MBinVA_10 |

Fun spot for a quick lunch - friendly, fast service. Great kids meals. Perfect for our family. Just bummed that they ran out of salmon.

Excellent coffee and pastries

By sunshine_r92 |

Perfect spot to grab breakfast. The selection of pastries was huge so we both had two each! Will definitely be back to try some more! My ice caramel latte was very tasty too! The location was amazing, loved sitting outside and people watching!

Delicious as always

By Maria Luiza M |

Although the name changed, La Boulange ou La Boulangerie de San Francisco remains a good place to have a coffee an a delicious French pastry. The atmosphere is very agreeable. We have been there several times and it is always a good experience.

Nice coffee and breakfast

By Charlie C |

I was hanging our to have a decent coffee and La Boulange at Metreon was fantastic. The coffee was great and the pastries went down well. Be careful when you order your latte as the cups are huge. The small is like a small bowl and the large was the size of a soup bowl. If you like your coffees definitely value for money. The small latte was $2.75 and an espresso was $1.95. We are getting ripped off in Sydney. They are open from 7am to 7pm. Service was great and friendly. We had breakfast here twice. Highly recommended.

Lovely little French cafe

By Smikey14 |

We had the omelette $9 and egg, cheese and ham croissant $8.50 both came with little balls of potato and were very yummy. Lovely atmosphere :)

Beyond yummy

By traveler4k |

I have had the pleasure of eating some tasty treats from Starbucks that they produce and sell at many Starbucks! With that said, nothing compares to this real bakery with extremely fresh croissants quiches and many other baked goods and organic coffees. I had an almond croissant that was the best I ever had and a delicious chai tea latte. I highly recommend you try this, especially if you are a fan of what you have tried at Starbucks. This is 1 million times more fresh and more delicious than anything out of Starbucks would ever have.

Good breakfast

By James F |

La Boulange is a cafe on Union Street, San Francisco which is towards the north end of the city and the area is a buzzing little village like community with lots of bars and cafes, so is well worth a visit. This cafe offers a wide choice of breakfasts, which are well cooked and tasty. There are a few pavement tables and plenty of seating inside.

Great place for pastries

By Virginia G |

The pastries are probably the best aspect of the restaurant. Their coffee and omelettes are good and the prices are reasonable.

Great Breakfast...busy place.

By LFMME |

Very good food here ! Line was long but well worth it. We had a great table outside but had to move for a Private Party. It was ok though - staff very helpful. Inside was ok..but be outside if you can. We ate Fantastic French Toast (and it was).. baked brioche served w/ fresh fruit Also had Egg & Cheese Sandwich..served w/ greens. Tasty Chocolate Croissant - amazing. And if you aren't in enough trouble after that - There is a Chocolate Spread on the coffee bar to finish up the croissant. Ugh. Our coffee ran out while eating the croissant - line was long - waiter was very kind to get refill Would definitely return here. There are many choices in this area. This is wonderful. After eating - if you need to walk...and WE did. Go out the back door to a wonderful park area. Lovely.

As good as advertised

By Chris L |

Great assortment of baked goods. I had the bread pudding (and tasted everyone else in the families treats)...and it was truly amazing. Will absolutely visit again when we go back to SF!

Great breakfirst

By RasmusCph |

Went there a couple of times with two kids for breakfirst. It is a bit crowded around 8 am but it was always possible to get at table. Really nice grenola and good service.

Great little French cafe/bistro!

By elfuego_vazquez |

A couple of our friends took us here when we came to visit SF. Its a charming place with a great concept. Everything from the coffee to the food to service and the ambiance was brilliant! They have seats facing the streets which is nice for having a nice coffee and people-watching if that's your thing. I would have stayed longer had we not have a long day of events. They had this bread and condiments station where you can help yourself to olives and pickles/capers which was quite lovely. It would be the one place I'd visit over and over again!

Heaven in SF

By Grnbug2000 |

AMAZING pastries and coffee! I love finding little places that have spirit and this one does! The croissants are buttery and fresh and the vanilla latte was the best I’ve ever had! Will definitely make this a regular stop on my SF excursions!

"The go-to place for breakfast on Union"

By CharterOneTwo |

Every time we're in San Francisco, we hit La Boulange at least once. Their pastries are incredible and their coffees are large and terrific. It can be a bit crowded, especially on the weekends, but the turnover is fast and the wait is worth it. Instead of popping into Starbuck's, do yourself a favor and take a little extra time to really enjoy a wonderful breakfast.

La Boulange is a retreat found everywhere in SF

By ECAMERONSanFrancisco |

Walking down Filmore or Hayes Street or Polk or Columbus and in the Height Ashbury the tired walker or city dweller can happen on a brightly colored welcoming cafe. Delicious breakfast treats, sandwiches, tarts, breads, house made granola , or chips and yesty soups. All here just like a mini Paris stop. My favs are the French Onion Soup, the Lemon Bars, the Lentil Salad and the french toast. But not all at once.

wonderful pastries, coffee, and a sandwich to go!

By CaFoodRepublic |

Fast service and always an open table are plusses; but its the fresh baked goods, creamy cafe au lait, and baguettes and sandwiches to go that are the real draw. Parking on Union has never been a problem either--always get a place if I am here early on a weekend. Delicious

Great Find!

By Gunjan05 |

It's a cute resturant with a lot a variety and the atmosphere too is great! I would recommend the Portobello and quinoa.

smoked salmon superb

By canadian175 |

stop arbitrarily to get lunch before speaking at a conference at Moscone - wonderfully friendly staff on this busy SF street - their open faced salmon sandwhich was served perfectly - the salmon was not warm but chilled the bread fresh as were the capers now you know - cheers p.s. at lunch lots of office workers and busy looking business people everywhere :)

Great breakfast sandwich

By checht96 |

My wife and I stopped here after a long flight. We split a fantastic breakfast sandwich along with a nice fruit bowl. I thought it was priced fair and the outside seating was nice. They also have a variety of breads and sweets that looked great.

Delicious, local, fresh

By Jodi B |

All the food was amazing. I like that they try to use local and/or organic products. A little pricey for bakery/on the go things, but was super yummy!

Cute cafe for breakfast

By Marissa P |

Good coffee and an assortment of fresh pastries and breakfast sandwiches make this a great place to stop by for breakfast.

Best breakfast stop in the city

By Mitchgobears |

Just like a Parisian bakery it makes the morning great. Great food good value and authentic. We found it by Siri for best inexpensive breakfast in San Francisco. The sweets are great too.

Great place to grab a quick breakfast.

By Kono777 |

This is a cafeteria style breakfast restaurant that serves hearty freshly made breakfasts to order, and also has delicious pastries if you're looking for something on the sweeter side. Servings are ample and the prices are very reasonable.

Great lunch spot.

By anell213 |

Great spot for soup and a sandwich for lunch (can't speak for the other meals as we only came here for lunch a few times). Interesting options, price was maybe a tad high but nothing outrageous, and can even get a beer or wine with your food.

Nom nom

By Gaenor43 |

Visited here on our last day for brunch before departure to UK. Wish we'd found it earlier - delicious scrambled eggs, omelettes, lattes and sandwiches. Very reasonably priced too. Lovely atmosphere, felt local not touristy at all. Would definitely recommend.

Good food

By likecomfort_10 |

The place was packed. It is very hard to get a place to sit if you come with a big group. I had an egg and ham sandwich for breakfast. It was good. My brother in law had some “Fantastic French Toast” and he said that was to die for. I guess I will try next time.

A Parisian Breakfast in America

By Beth T |

We visited La Boulange on our second morning in San Francisco. The one we visited is a beautiful, airy space, bustling with locals and tourists alike -- we chatted with one fellow in the lineup who gave us excellent sightseeing tips for the day.You can train staff to give impeccable customer service (which they did), but you can't put a price on friendly, local advice! We each tried something different from the menu (order at the counter). French Toast with a side of bacon and OJ; an almond croissant and Americano, and steel-cut oats with fruit and a latte. Thank goodness I travel with two healthy men with hearty appetites! The oatmeal arrived, heaped with fruit, and the latte bowl was big enough to do laps in -- a real bowl of coffee/milk, just like I remember enjoying in France. American portion-control in Paris -- oatmeal for four and a latte for two! I ate all I could (and it was delicious!), the spouse made a dent, and the bowl was polished off by the teen. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their breakfasts. The French Toast was excellent with nice crispy bacon on the side; the croissant was fresh and flaky, and the oatmeal was perfectly prepared and satisfying. Specials on the chalk board indicated they make a great lunch, too -- to go, for a picnic in one of San Francisco's spectacular parks perhaps? We will definitely visit La Boulange again.

A Nice Lunch

By TJ G |

Following a walk and some shopping we stopped here as there were excellent vegetarian options. Fresh and tasty food with quick service. A lovely grilled cheese with a pasta dish and drinks. Very busy so cutlery was at a premium and we settled for plastic rather than let the food get cold.

Good Place for Breakfast

By SPKinVA |

We ate here for breakfast. The egg and cheese croissant and fruit cup were fine. If you order an Americana coffee, get it to go. Otherwise they will serve it in a soup bowl. It's hard to pick up and it gets cold fast. The restrooms have combination locks on them. Nice views out the window.

Real buzz

By Fiona M |

We dropped in for an impromptu dinner for our 10 th wedding anniversary on a Friday evening. We had no booking but managed because we were early to get a bar stool and bench to eat at. We choose this restaurant because of the reviews which were excellent. At first the menu did not appeal, however we decided to stick with it. We both had duck croquettes to start followed by pork chop or red snapper. The food was fabulous and I got the sense that lots of locals eat here from the greetings exchanged. The wine was lovely too. One word of advice, I took a bar stool that suffered from a draught from the door which was open all evening. I know I was unlucky because my husband took pity and swapped seats and I was much warmer in his seat. If I'd been wearing warm clothes it wouldn't have been a problem. Otherwise book to ensure you have a table or choose your seat carefully.

Really good food

By Regina M |

Loved this place! My husband and I shared a Monsier Croque sandwich. Delicious! We got croissants to eat for breakfast the next morning. Everything was so good and the employees were very friendly!

Feels like France

By Roger M |

Awesome little cafe I stopped while looking for a cup of coffee. What a nice little place with some high quality stuff! I tried their frittata sandwich which was delicious.

European Flair

By preyes63 |

We travel to Europe frequently, so when we happen upon a place here in the states that reminds us of there, ww just love it. We were on a weekend jaunt in town staying nearby at the Hotel Triton. We came for breakfast twice and back again for lunch. We loved the yogurt and fabulous granola. When your order the fresh bread, they have a condiment table with homemade jams, honey, butter, mustard, and cornichons. I did all of my gift shopping there for friends and family, loading up with yummy bags of granola and cookies. Like I said, we even came back for lunch, we had the quinoa salad and Provençal BLT, French onion soup, and of course, chocolate pot de creme. I wish we could have stayed longer, just to be able to try more of the menu. Next time!

Bowl of coffee

By SallyO58 |

Best place to have a bowl of coffe and sit and watch the world go by!!! the black coffee is great but the caramel coffee is like liquid gold in your mouth. YUM!!!! the vegetable tart was great. would go back in a heartbeat.

Nice food, good atmosphere, convenient

By Travelbag2013 |

We had breakfast here one morning while staying locally in San Francisco. We tried the granola and breakfast sandwich with bacon. The granola was fantastic, served with fresh berries and yoghurt and the breakfast sandwich was nice too, with scrambled eggs and bacon. We had good coffee with this and overall was a very pleasant experience with some interesting people-watching!

La Boulange: From Casual Eats to Fancy Treats

By srp99 |

La Boulange is an ever-expanding (shudder) chain of Parisian-style cafes in and around SF. Recently acquired by Starbucks (whose interest primarily stems in La Boulange's bakery expertise), La Boulange is a perfect place for tourists and locals alike. On a personal note, I live for great eats, but reserve the 5-star/Michelin-type locations for special occasions. Enter La Boulange for all my needs - stop in for a quick snack (from quiches to smoked salmon salad/sandwiches to mini baguette sandwiches) or indulge in a very-unAmerican-sized baked good (Parisian macarons, croissants, tarts, meringues - oh my!). La Boulange is notorious for using the highest quality ingredients. Whatever you order, I guarantee you will be treated to taste of casual elegance with no chance of breaking your vacation budget!

Excellent

By Majolo450 |

Super for breakfast, prices are OK,. coffee is great. Good variety for breakfast and lunch. Lunch menu excellent also. They have macarons but not all of them are fresh of the day....

Good boulangerei and sandwich shop

By travelmeisteren |

How the hell did I miss seeing their macarons? I love, love, love macarons but didn’t see any when I had lunch there! I stopped here while doing a walk through San Francisco. I don’t remember the name of the sandwich but it was good. I think turkey and avocado? Ambiance of the place is nothing to remember… Crowded and loud. But so what, I just wanted to eat my sammich and go. The wait was reasonable (5-10 minutes) and the price was good ($9) for the sammich. I’d definitely try other Boulanges in the future. And I’d keep my eyes peeled for the macarons next time. Bummer I missed those as I eat ‘em all the time here in Europe.

Coffeeshop

By SapnaChamp |

Good strong coffee in a convenient spot in SF - lots of snacks to sample. In the Marina district, right by great restaurants / bars / shops.

Greatest pastries in SF!

By Dario_Espinoza |

La Boulange has a wide, but not overwhelming, variety of French-inspired pastries and food that makes it a perfect stop for a break in the city. Although a bit pricey, quality is great and there are salads, open face sandwiches, flats, soups, pastries and delicious hot drinks. They have a much better hot chocolate than Starbucks, but I still like Peets sometimes better :)

Perfect for breakfast

By Erik R |

A short walk from our hotel in the financial district - great coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and fresh fruit. A perfect place to start your day before heading out to shop or see the sights.

Under the Dome Westfield Shopping Center

By donnaspeaks |

What's not to like? Delicious, healthy food options at a reasonable price. I had a bowl of French onion soup and a whole wheat slider with brie and apple slices... yummy! The soup was so good because it was not a greasy thick cheesy goopy soup.... it was clear with tender onion slices and it had a bread slice with cheese in it, and it was served with two toast points.

Best coffee on Union St

By jaynic |

We have been staying in an apartment around the corner and I've been getting my morning latte from La Boulange. It beats Starbucks or the illy cafe. The baguette and pastries are also delicious. The baguette is as good as anything in Paris

Terrible service

By Emmz24 |

Stopped here for lunch. Terrible service and wrong ingredients in order. Serving staff are not interested. Poor quality food. La boulange de Hayes is a world apart from this place. Could be great.

Tres bien!

By sanfrantravelnut |

La Boulange has many locations throughout San Francisco, you can now find many of their pastries in Starbucks too. If you want to feel like you're visiting Paris for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack, this is a great restaurant to try. They have tons of pastries, quiches, pre-made sandwiches, sweets, as well as a hot and cold menu. Their coffee drinks are served in giant bowl-lik-cups if you eat in. Quite a big and delicious selection and it's perfectly suited to grab food to go to a picnic, or dine in.

Super average of the average, but more expensive

By Angelo P |

So... Coffee is average Service is below average Offer/assortment is above average But one common factor: everything is absolutely more expensive than in the neighborhood And they don't have wifi

Sweet and simple

By Jay_as_tripvisor |

La Boulange is locate in Little Italy area of SF. You can reach here using a bus or public transportation. Close to downtown SF. It is a cafe with simple tables and chairs. The food served is Italian, which is different from what your get elsewhere. It makes me think may be it is more close to authentic. The food was fresh and good to taste. We loved the simple soups they served us with garlic bread. Little family owned business doing well striving to maintain authenticity. The food is not too costly. Many of the customers we saw were Europeans, which gave us an indication of its credibility being close to authentic. The also have a recorder running where you can insert 25cents to play your favorite Italian or old time English songs. Great old fashion type cafe.

Great coffee - treats - yummy food

By lhymowitz |

Skip the over priced mediocre hotel foods and come here if you are in San Francisco. Tons of food options - decent prices - really good quality.

Great pastries & coffee

By dhara g |

This place has the best blueberry cheesecake ever. The coffee was served in a bowl, it looked kinda cool. The servers were nice and they had a good range of breakfast too. I would totally recommend this place especially for their blueberry cheesecake.

There's a reason that Starbucks embraced them!

By CaFoodRepublic |

This location is the best of the bunch, but La Boulange never fails to amaze with their heady portions, fast service, perfectly executed coffees and pastries, and their amazing value for money. If you must, then indulge in their mass market products at Starbucks; but nothing beats wandering in to one of these locations for an hour on a cool fall morning. Sample a few things here; you won't quickly forget the tastes and textures. Ham croissants and lattes are my favorite.

Simply delicious

By Maki |

We were in town to attend the Edwardian Ball and decided to go to this restaurant for brunch. The interior is quaint with cafe-like atmosphere. I had their Fantastic French Toast and it was FANTASTIC! It was part breakfast and part dessert with flan like bottom to the french toast. My friends had Egg and Cheese Sandwich and it too looked delicious. Whether you sit outside or sit inside looking out from the large windows, you can people watch while you enjoy the delectable delights. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Excellent bakery goods and coffee!

By Greatfood4ever |

We were some of the few who didn't have a lunch item at our table...but our late breakfast of pastries and wonderful coffee were perfect for us! Clearly, this is always a super busy spot...so the line out the door is always there. But we found the staff super hard working and the customer on our day were super patient. Noise level is a little hard to overcome if you plan to talk at your table. There was a street event on the block so we asked some locals if it's different on the other days...they said its always super busy here. But the place is clearly well liked and our food/drinks said its best in the area.

Great food and ambience ....

By fussyflora |

We liked the look of this place so went here for breakfast the next day and were not disappointed. This venue is set in the Financial District and clearly popular with the office crowd, there are plenty wooden tables and chairs and there was a nice buzz about the place. The staff were helpful and courteous when taking our order. My husband had the pancakes, maple syrup and fresh fruit and I opted for the cheese omelette which came with what I will describe as herby cubes of potato, sort of hash browns ... please excuse my ignorance! Suffice to say both were substantial and delish!!! The surprise of the meal was the coffee .. which came in bowls! The look we gave the waiter who brought them over to us must have been priceless, but it seems that's how they serve their coffee in this eatery! So as the saying goes ... when in Rome ... so we picked up the bowl and drank what turned out to be one of the best coffees we had during our trip! I would certainly recommend this place as one to visit and enjoy.

Watching the Bread being made behind glass walls is fun to behold...Just don't be eating it!!!

By Debauchee69 |

The bread at La Boo is EATABLE, I mean, you won't be spitting it out or anything IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW ANY BETTER. But with Sour Dough Bread of the GODS like 'ACME Bread' around, well, it's hard to force it down, know what I'm saying [Read my review on Acme Bread of People's Republic of Berkeley' and you'll know of what I speaketh

Lunch at the Westfield Center

By Kathlyne |

I had the chicken and mushroom open faced sandwich. It was basically cream of chicken with mushrooms on toast. It was somehow familiar and comforting, but nothing impressive. I also had a glass of tea. The tea was disappointing--a tea bag in a glass with warm water--lame compared to the cappuccinos they were turning out. The pastries also looked impressive. I wish I had caved and gotten one.

Grand lunch interlude

By permia |

Tasty offerings were to choose from and we had a couple of delicious choices. We decided to further treat ourselves to a blueberry and lemon pie. With a bowl of cappuccino and coffee, all most satisfactory. It's a pleasant space with a relaxed unhurried atmosphere. With pleasant staff and good value, it all added up to a lovely stop-off.

Great pastries, coffee, ambiance

By Al J |

Mistakenly reviewed a different La Boulange...sorry, great pastries, reasonably priced, coffee IS Starbuck's, and although they only were brewing two, were able to do a pour-over blonde for us. Refreshing pastry choices, a great waitstaff, and fun! HIghly recommend.

La Boulange near GG Park

By ASASG_7 |

I actually went to the location near GG Park, on 9th Ave, but since this is a chain and there doesn't seem to be an entry for the one near GG Park, I'll write my review here. First of all, the pastry and espresso were excellent (I had the chocolate torte and an espresso lungo), I've heard the baquettes are excellent, and I love being in a place where the room is full of the smell of baking. Huge high ceilings, massive windows create a really nice room. What didn't I like? Well, no fault of theirs, but I would say 85% of the clientel were on their tablets, smart phones, laptops. Yes, it's SF so what do you expect? I don't know - but it turned me off. Anyway, if you are in GG park, the Sunset location is a great one heading into or out of the park on 1266 9th Avenue. I'd go back for that chocolate delight (really can't remember what it was called, but I snagged the last one so it's clearly a favorite) and my coffee was excellent.

really nice breakfast cafe

By rraschio |

Stopped in for a nice quick breakfast before heading out for the day. The Frittata breakfast sandwich was a perfect way to start the day. The fresh fruit bowl that came with the sandwich was perfect. My daughter had a Vanilla Latte that was really good.

Don't get the hype. Terrible!!

By eric r |

I have never given a 1 star review. I wish I didn't have to now. I don't get the hype of this place. People were lined up. We have been wanting to try it for a while and we were very disappointed. I had the cobb salad and although it tasted good (nice dressing) it was skimpy. Hardly any bacon and it literally had one little piece of avocado (and not a very big piece I might add). My wife had their grilled cheese sandwich. We couldn't believe how bad it was. It was dry, dry, dry!! It was eating cardboard. Maybe it was a bad day but we will never go back.

Nice little bakery

By Hulajim |

Stopped here late morning for a pastry. Ended up getting a chocolate croissant and a roast beef sandwich on, what I think was, a soft baguette with jack cheese. I was really happy as both were really good. Fresh and tasty. It is counter service with seats available inside to enjoy your pastries. They have coffee, tea, and bottled drinks too. I would definitely go back again. Lots of different choices and very fresh.

Great Experience

By EventPlanner_7186700 |

I decided to stop into one location on the spur of the moment. Had a good breakfast sandwich of bacon, egg and tomato on a buttery, flaky croissant. Got a fruit cup to go, but some of the fruit (esp. melon) seemed to be just about to turn bad. It was kind of watery and translucent around the edges. I saw people with large bowls of fresh fruit for breakfast and that looked great and fresh. I ended up throwing it out. I would go again. I was impressed with the staff and the facility and my sandwich was very good. I just would not get something to carry out without inspecting it first.

Délicieux!

By triptaker038 |

My title says it all - delicious! I want to live in San Francisco if for nothing else, for this place. I could have eaten breakfast & lunch hear every day during our recent visit! They have quite a menu for such a small place (salads, sandwiches, quiche, soups, etc.). The pastries are excellent and the macarons are something you cannot leave without.

I could become a regular.

By Rodcampuzano |

Went there for breakfast and everything was delicious. I try not to repeat places when in vacation but I could repeat this one.

Great pleasure. Lets hope Starbucks doesn't hurt this brand

By rubyfoody |

Great coffee, food, service. They have it all. Feels like being in Europe. Great atmosphere and just a pleasant experience to spend time in this relaxing location. Highly recommend you stop by

Good, simple breakfast experience

By francp616 |

My family was in San Francisco for a short time and visited La Boulange following a friend's recommendation. We stopped by the restaurant located in Columbus Ave. in our way to Fishermans Wharf. The place is very simple and the food (breakfast) was great for its price. If you are looking for a quick place to have breakfast at a reasonable price, I recommend La Boulange.

Cozy breakfast place

By skamikirn |

Great place for breakfast. This place is located in the Yerba Buena Gardens in the Metreon Center. Has a nice outdoor seating, friendly staff, and quick service. The french toast was so yummy! Was piping hot, light, and with a layer of custard on the bottom. You also get a side of fresh fruits with it. My husband ordered the croque madame and it was good, but he said it was a bit too cheesy, yet filling. Will definitely come back to this place again when we are back in San Francisco.

Great place for breakfast

By TomJ25 |

We used this really great cafe for breakfast after being a bit disappointed by the one in our hotel. Great pastries. Good coffee. Good service.

Love this place great coffees and pastries

Found this place on day 2 and went back everyday after, coffee is very good and pastries are awesome. must try if in the area. This is a very cool area with great shops and restaurants

Great price, good food

By vacanut_8 |

Glad we stumbled upon this little place. The croissants were delicious and the mini baguette sandwiches were perfect for a small lunch. We tried many macaroons in the city and these were by far our favorite. Had some every day we were there.

Delicious Pastries & Coffee

By Brit T |

We stopped here for a mid-afternoon snack. The pastries and coffee were both very good, and the price was quite reasonable. I would recommend anything made with their hazelnut jam. Yum!

Yummy breakfast fare

By Michele R |

The front desk at our hotel suggested this as a breakfast place and it was an excellent recommendation. They have a great menu selection fro breakfast including plenty fresh fruit. I chose an egg and smoked salmon breakfast. The eggs and smoked salmon were just simply delicious. Fluffy eggs, tasty smoked salmon, served on a delicious croissant, just yummy. I also had their hot chocolate. If you are a chocolate lover you will turn somersaults over this. Its so rich, chocolately and creamy. The cafe style design is also great, You can eat outside on the sidewalk which we did and that was fine (and believe it or not quieter). Well worth the price, great location, and prompt service even with the stream of people walking through there. I would definitely eat there again.

Nice lunch, loved the side of quinoa!

By James W |

Stopped here for lunch and had the Boulange club and some carrot soup. Both items were really tasty. I had the sandwich with a side of quinoa, which comes in the form of a cold salad. The serving was generous, also very delicious. It's not often that you can get something like that as a side with your sandwich! The price was very reasonable, and service was quick. Would definitely come back here if I'm in the area around lunch time.

Good coffee and danish

Good place for a coffee and danish, usually busy and locations all around SF. Went a few times on the way to work,

Great lunch spot

By ACNewell |

Visiting the marina district and hungry for a casual meal. This was the perfect place. Easy to find. Good food. Fast service and great deserts.

Delectable

By waverider681 |

What's not to like about a place that will serve your soy chai latte in a bowl as big as your face? As one of my good friends would say, "awesomesauce!" The canneles are the perfect amount of sweet - just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth without being overpoweringly sugary like many American baked goods. And for those of you who like the super sweet, give the sticky bun a go (tastes just like my Aunt's monkey bread). A great respite for the damp chill days in San Francisco.

Nice coffee stop

By iLya K |

I stopped here for a cappuccino and loved the ambience and the people who work there. The lady on the front counter was very charming and welcoming. The coffee was Great! I wish I was hungry, bc the pastry on display looked like it came from the food channel.

A Great Stop For Breakfast

By BoboTravlr |

We enjoyed a family breakfast here and really enjoyed the pastries. The chai arrived in HUGE cups or are they bowls? Enjoy.

One of my favorites

By Viajerosen |

La Boulange is a great place for breakfast and lunch. I love their latte and pastries. it's almost impossible not to get one of those croissants. It's also a nice place for lunch, they have salads, sandwiches and main entrees. It's kind of pricey but the quality is good. My favorite es the Smoked salmon open face sandwich with Quinoa salad.

Great place for breakfast

By Dennis M |

If you stay in San Francisco, be sure to visit La Boulange for at least one breakfast. Great coffee, and the almond croissant is to die for.
