Terrible food

By Coloradokiteboarder |

We had chicken dish and a pork or beef rice dish. Both must have been sitting in the warming tray for hours as both dishes were dried out and if we were not so damn hungry or we had time to find another restaurant we would not have eaten it.

A Delicious Meal

By Lisa T |

Such delicious food--wholesome and homemade. Very refreshing to sit and enjoy. Osmany was very pleasant and helpful!

I’m in peace with universe

By Gerardo P |

Excellent service. I always love the food. I had an excellent waiter, he was extremely courteous, attentive. Osmary was simply great.

Excellent Cuban food

Quick stop at Miami International airport on my way to the Caribbean. Excellent Cuban food with awesome customer service.

Airport Stop

By Esteban B |

Delicious food, quick service, and Inti made an airport restaurant feel like a local restaurant. Favorite place to stop in Miami airport

Good value, good Cuban food

By duncanscampbell |

So you're at the airport in transit, you don't have lots of time but want a good meal for a reasonable price before the next flight. La Carreta is the place for you. Homes style cooking, tastes good, a good variety to choose from and you won't go hungry. If you like Cuban food or if you don't want the fast food offerings at the airport you're good to go.

Cuban food

By luvmy32000 |

Stopped here for dinner while waiting for a connecting flight. Its a prepared buffet style restaurant. Several cuban selections. Medium grade on food. I had ropa Viejas with congri. Average.

Pretty good selection of Cuban food

By Damian M |

La Carretta at concourse D3 Miami international Airport has a decent selection of Cuban meals , the speed of the service is good, some staff members are weak at speaking English but it’s enough to get by usually. I purchased a Cuban sandwich that I would rate 7.5/10 compared to others I have had , all ingredients were fresh and a good portion less the over toasted Cuban bread , Cuban bread is generally tough and over roasting it is probably the worst thing to do. Summary : I would return to this restaurant , worth a try if your at the airport.

INTI was amazing! He had initiative, took care of every detail to make sure I had the best experience.

By Josie A |

Great food and service! Marks a difference in airport spots. INTI was amazing! He had initiative, took care of every detail to make sure I had the best experience. He should be employee of the year!

Great food and waiter!

By Frank S |

Inti Alberto was FANTASTIC! He went out of his way to take our food to the table and then went out to the “ventanita” to get us croquetas, y pastelitos that were out of this world! Inty deserves a big raise as he is definitely an huge asset to La Carreta.

A Ropa Vieja to Die For

By Marcella P |

Osmany is one of the best servers we’ve ever had! He had great recommendations for places in Cuba, Ecuador, and Miami. La Carreta is a must visit restaurant.

Bad service, meh food

By Miko K |

Went to the ala carte window for a Cuban sandwich. An older man came up behind me and they instantly took his order. I spoke up and said, “hello, am I invisible?” To the two workers. They both ignored me for another minute or 2, I did walk from terminal 20, down to 37. To try this place based on the reviews. Cheese cake was bad. Sandwich was mid. Sandwich came out quick. Decently priced

Great Take Away anc Fine In House Made Cuban Food

By Toni T |

The area of La Carreta facing gate D 39 offers a take away line of sandwiches, salads, empanadas. Cuban pastries, and other pastries with coffee concoctions and 4 fruit beverages in bubblers with passion fruit and soursop topping my favorites list. The other side opens to a sit down dining area with a tempting cafeteria li e with delicious soups, baked chicken, churrasco, fish, arroz con pollo dishes and more. Desserts include cheese cake, flan and tres leches. Excellent service in a accesible height line with accessible tables. The dining area offers US pop music instead of s Latin vibe In central airport area, Men’s and women’s accessible restrooms have dedicated stall with 2 grab bars and 4 ft. 4 ft space Paid van accessible parking in airport parking Accessible

Great Cuban food/beverages at a convenient location

By Celia W |

Moros, fried plantains, guava pastries and Cafe con Leche'............ all of my favorite cuban treats all in one convenient place. You can order at a walk up area or go in for a buffet meal and sit to eat.

Inti - the best waiter at MIA

By Carlyta S |

The food was delicious and Inti was a very kind and attentive waiter. Next time we’re back in Miami, we’ll be stopping here.

Great experience

By Camila D |

Great lunch! Likely the healthiest option is Miami airport. Inti was our waiter and he was amazing! Very attentive. Will come back

Comfort food !

By Brixan08 |

What’s lovely airport restaurant. It’s home cooking, comfort food … just what the doctor ordered. Best restaurant if you want a proper sit down and exhale before your flight. Thank you Inti- you’re a treasure to this establishment.

The best decision to come here!!

By Elizabeth G |

Wonderful experience! The food was great and delicious but the attention was more than worth it!! What a beautiful quality of human beings who attend in this place and especially Inti Alberto, attended us excellent all the time and cared about everything, was aware and aware! My friend and I are very happy to have met a human being as helpful and charismatic as Inti Alberto!

Very good

By Voyage802228 |

Excellent service served me a waiter called INTI excellent care. Very good food too. I'll be back soon.

The best value at the airport

By Cybdiver1 |

It's a buffet style but don't worry they have folks on hand to help you to your table. They have a good selection of American and Spanish favorites. The service is pretty quick. I try to eat there before a flight, it's much better than airplane food. I've been there each time I'm through the airport never had a bad meal. My favorite is their breakfast. There is something for everyone and the staff is nice. No this is not gourmet it's an airport but for what they charge I give them 5 stars.

Poor customer service - La Carreta Cafe D-38

By Vern D |

We just ordered a hot chocolate but the service was really disappointing. One of the staff had to go to the back to get the hot chocolate packets which made this experience even worse because we had to wait quite a bit. Our cashier's name is Shabelly and the poor service started with her. All the staff seem like they came to hang out instead of work. The tough blond guy (only male there at the time) seemed like a favorite with the other female staff but to us he seemed like he did not even want to be there. We will not patronize this establishment again.

Decent cuban food for an airport

By czmdivenut |

Cafeteria style but a good selection of traditional Cuban foods. Nice folks, good service, and the food was pretty good.

Vaca frita

By sarah a |

very yum with osmany as our server. Vaca frita was very delicious, and I had some flan as well that was very yummy. Would come again

Worth a visit when in the Miami Airport.

By Josh |

The food was excellent! Inti helped us and gave terrific suggestions for dessert. This may be the best "Airport" restaurant I've visited. Great work and thanks to the entire staff.

Lovely experience with server Inti

By Julia L |

Server Inti was such a dream! So attentive and lovely. He brought a cup for ice for my canned drink and kept coming back to make sure I was all good even though it’s a self service restaurant! I will definitely be back whenever I’m at MIA

It was very pleasant my visit, at the food line a good care, .and attended Osmary very helpful and polite.

By Yhany R |

Variety of food, good prices, very good staff service. It was a pleasant experience.

Great food and better service

By Yolanda R |

Excellent service from Osmal and exquisite food. A great experience. The a la carte food, arrived on time and without hassles.

Unexpectedly Stunned

By J C |

Stopped by on a layover, everyone was super warm and friendly, a server named Inti in particular consistently checked on me and made sure I had everything I needed, service outclassing restaurants significantly more expensive, much less inside an airport, deserves praise and recognition

Great service

By Alejandro D |

Excellent service and an authentic Cuban experience! The rich, bold flavors will transport you straight to Havana. From the best Cuban coffee, strong and aromatic, to the most delicious Cuban flavors, every bite and sip is pure delight. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a true taste of Cuba. Whether you're stopping by for a quick cafecito or a full meal, you won’t be disappointed. The attention to detail and quality ingredients make all the difference. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine Cuban flavors and outstanding service. A must-visit spot!

the worst treatment you can get

By Lazaro A |

I want to leave a comment on this site for the bad treatment and rudeness that I suffered from one of its dependents towards me, 5:30 in the morning of September 13, I bought a coffee and a Cuban sandwich, I forgot my receipt and a one of his employees calls me very smiling and rude to give it to me, I asked him if something in my face made him laugh and I told him that I was rude and unfriendly, the truth is that it is my first and last time buying something to eat in this place, I never thought that this girl would ruin my morning by being so rude and disrespectful, I would never want to meet such a person again, I know that here is not a good place to buy my breakfast because of the rude staff that is in this place

Delicious

By Leslie T |

Had an awesome meal in an airport, with south American flare! You know it's good as all the pilots and flight attendants are there. Cafeteria style and nice seating area.

Cuban Fail

By Janine G |

If you can’t get a Cuban sandwich right, I don’t know what I’m the world we are doing here. I love a good Cuban sandwich, so much so that I look for them in every restaurant I go to. On a layover on the way home from the Caymans, my cousin insisted I stop here, swearing I would not be disappointed. Well, boy was I disappointed. The first half of the sandwich had no mustard or pickles and the second had a small smear of mustard and two small, thinly sliced pickles. After about five bites, I was done out of just pure frustration. If a basic panini stumps the place, RUN AWAY FAST. We will not return.

Felt like a home meal

By brianna s |

Great spot to sit back and eat with family while waiting for your flight. Also great service!!! Definitely come again!!

Osmany you rock!!!

By Alondra J |

Been here before but today Osmany took care of us and made the experience better. He exceeded my expectations, found a table for us, brought water and condiments, made sure everything was good. He made me want to come back again.

Wow

By Cristol F |

Inti really went above and beyond. He is genuine and kind and an AMAZING addition to your team. Thank you very much sir! The food was delicious get the white rice, black beans, ropa vieja y the SOURSOP beverage with ice oh my word it’s amazing very fresh not too sweet. The guava and cheese pastry is amazing it is NOT oily very fresh and the cortadito is PHENOMENAL. Thank you!!!!

Best Airport food ever!

By jimmy b |

The food was fabulous!! I would give it Ten Stars if I could! Our table waiters Cosmany and Armondi were the best ever!! Hope to stop in on our return flight into MIA.

Great Food

By G S |

We stop here every time we fly through Miami-we see a lot of pilots and airport staff eating here too. All the dood is good whether a meal or just a sandwich-try the cuban sandwich on authentic cuban bread! Ive had lots of different kinds of d Food here and never been disappointed. Much different than your typical airport food. Like eating on an authentic cuban family restaurant ******Terminal D37******

Still very good!

By James A |

I still enjoy the food at La Carreta at MIA airport. The service is ok, but the Cuban style food is really good and freshly made (AM). I find the prices and creeping up, but it’s still worth it.

If you are in the Miami airport, check it out. You won't be disappointed!

By Jimmy G |

Had stopped here before several years ago and still remembered how good the empanadas were! So glad to find that it was still alive and thriving. Stopped this time for some empanada but also had dinner this time. So good! Loved the plátano maduro, pollo asado, arroz amarillo y los empleados amables!!!!!

Be careful going through the line

By Princerman |

My family and I were hungry when we landed in MIA and I suggested Cuban food. The food we had was really good. My 8 year old liked her Chicken Noodle Soup and my ten year old liked her food. The issue is that the portions are HUGE and we probably only ate half our food. It's hard to communicate with the line servers in the loud airport environment. It's tricky and if we had better communication, this would have been much easier. Better labeling on the serving line would have been helpful to those of us who don't know Cuban food very well.

Experience the Cuban cuisine in a busy airport!!

By Tatiana H |

This a great experience you can’t missed at the airport in Miami . Gate 39 , right across the gate you find this Cuban restaurant, food is delicious and the waitress and serves are friendly and knowledgeable of the Cuban food. Osmany went just beyond to ensure we have a great experience with Cuban cuisine. Kudos for him and the ladies at the food line .

Taste Cuban

By skidaddy74012 |

After a 4 hour flight from Barbados, we found this restaurant in the Miami Airport. We were famished and this place hit the spot. The buffet was very filling. Tasty dishes served at the right temperature. The price was right, not typical of airport prices. Looking forward to eating there again.

CUBAN TRADITION

By Mittsuwa |

Unmissable meal stop every time the plane stops in Miami. The food is very good and the service amazing (Inti). You feel at home even if you're not Cuban. At least try a Cuban. They're gonna love that sandwich and a Cuban coffee.

If you’re debating where to eat at the Miami airport — go here!

By Brenda S |

La Carreta is a large restaurant with food served cafeteria style so you know what you’re getting. Given it is an airport restaurant, we had low expectations. However we were happy to find out that the food matched the reviews and was quite good. The entree we chose was OK (chicken), but my favorite was the sides of sweet plaintain (delicious!) and rice / beans. Be forewarned, you are given a huge quantity of food — so if you’re with someone else, you may want to consider splitting a plate. You an always order another entree if that is not enough. There are free refills on the fountain drinks which is nice. We decided to try this restaurant due to the great reviews on Yelp ... but as we were sitting there eating every last crumb, we noticed that many of the people in the restaurant were speaking Spanish, and/or were pilots. That says something. They also did not shoo us out after we finished eating so we were able to sit in the comfortable booth until it was time to go to our plane (maybe an hour total).

Good Cuban food for on the go

By saffronsantorini |

Always make it a point to stop there and get food on the go as it’s one of the best foods you can take out and they have foil containers that make it convenient ; saw a lot of the airport crew heading there when I discovered on frequent stop overs to Miami via other destinations

Awesome time and fantastic food and service!

By Erika C |

Our server, Osmany, was amazing!!! So great! Personable and efficient. He checked in is many times and took really good care of us.

Excellent

By Jessy d |

We visited the airport location; the food was spectacular, and Osmany’s impeccable service made our visit extraordinary. Without a doubt, a great option at Miami Airport.

Never again

By Steviejojo |

If you like extremely dry chicken and to feel pretty iLL with diarhoea soon afterwards when you and your family are about to board a flight then la Carreta is right up your street

Delicious and Hospitable

By Nycole S |

The service here is always so accommodating. But today it was not only delicious, but very hospitable no thanks to Inti. The service he gave us was top notch! Thank you, Inti!

La Carrerta is yummy!

By Guide638400 |

Alberto the server was great! He kept coming to our table to make sure we did not need anything else. The service was quick too and the steak sandwich was great

Great food and awesome service

By M Lourdes R |

Great service provided for us by Osmany! Awesome attitude plus attention to detail. Love the food and the Cuban coffee!

Great service and food

By Dubraska W |

The food was delicious and my waiter Inti went above and beyond to make my experience even better at La Carreta Miami Airport

La Carreta - Airport Dining Experience

By Nicole B |

I love La Carreta so I was excited to learn there was one located inside the Miami International Airport, Terminal D(37). I must say, however, I did not expect it to be more like a cafeteria experience but it turned out great. I had a bowl of chicken noodle soup which was so-so. I also had a pork chop dinner and the roasted pork. The meat was a tad bit dry but all of the sides were delicious. The cashier secured me a dining table which was my biggest concern. I would go back for the customer service alone.

Wonderful experience thanks to Osmany!

By Safari21994751898 |

The food was flavorful and ease of ordering was great! But what was truly wonderful was the staff!! Particularly Osmany, who helped me and my sister get to a table during a busy time and with all of our luggage. He was so friendly and professional and carried both of our trays and asked if he could help in any other way. He made grabbing a delicious meal at the Miami airport much easier and very pleasant for us—thank you Osmany!! :)

Excellent service Osmany 👏👏👏

By Flor M R |

My family and I had an excellent experience at La Carreta Restaurant (MIA) thanks to our waiter OSMANY. His service was outstanding—very attentive, friendly, and professional from start to finish. He made sure we felt welcomed. His positive attitude truly enhanced our dining experience. Great customer service like this makes a big difference, and we will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!

Great Cuban

By MichaelBermuda |

Their Cuban sandwich was great - with cafe con leche as a beverage - sandwich was heated perfectly with the cheese oozing on the outside

Comfort food when your flight is delayed!

By Monica L |

Comfort food, nice spot and our server Osmany was very helpful and caring. He tried to please everyone in the table. Although our plane was delayed almost 3 hours, we found this place very comfortable.

By Katherine V |

Server Inti, was the best! He was always attentive and helped in anyway he could! Recommend it! Will definitely come back and eat before the flight

Great Family Dining Experience!!

By Brooke H |

The food was amazing and it was perfect for my family! Osmany was the best waiter! He was attentive and so friendly! Love his smile!

Pleasurable

By Carlos Francis M |

It is a place with great service and product to taste the most authentic taste of Cuban food. With a close treatment they make you feel like family and that added to the skittishness of the food make your visit an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend it.

Good Place at MIA for Cuban Food

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Another flight through MIA and a chance to stop at La Carreta for lunch. A really good place to grab some food. Enjoyed my freshly made Cubano sandwich.

Good Cuban Food at the Miami Airport

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

My go to place when traveling through the Miami International Airport. Food is served cafeteria style. However, you can also order off the menu on the wall. Can't go wrong with the Cuban Sandwich.

Delicious Marinated Pork Chops and a Great Price

By Bob |

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of our meal - marinated pork chops (two chops), white rice and fried plantains. One entree had enough food for the two of us, the pork chops were delicious, hot but not overcooked; the rice was cooked perfectly, and the plantains were tasty as well. All this for $16.48.

This place is delicious!!

By snews77 |

This is a cafeteria style restaurant at the Miami airport. The staff was so accommodating and genuine! Thank you to Osmany !!! I had the fish veggies and plantains and I made a happy plate. I didn’t have room for my guava cheesecake but I’m sure it will be just as delicious as everything else, including my mojito. Yummy ❤️☺️

Forget you're at the airport with a delicious dining experience.

By Jessica B |

La Carreta has excellent food, service, and atmosphere. I arrived with my baggage and was immediately assisted with making selections and seating. I was able to forget I was in the airport and enjoy a fresh and delicious meal. Inti provides great conversation and checked in on me throughout the dining experience. I observed a lot of piolets and flight attendants here as well, so you know it's the place to be.

A little disappointing

By provomo |

We have been here a few times previously and had the cubano. I thought the bread was very heavy this time unlike the light cuban bread that is usually used. The ropa viejo was also mediocre.

Coffee lady

By Dulce G |

The coffee lady won’t give your coffee unless you are standing right in front of her, and then she goes and talks behind your back like if you can’t hear her. Waited 20 mins even though I talked to the cashier and she told her to do it, she still didn’t, until I told her again. Is a small space the customers can hear the talking. Then sitting at the table you can hear she fights with other customers here and there, one person asked for normal sugar on her coffee she started complaining and didn’t put a sleeve on coffee and the customer complained she burned her hand. The cashier was nice and food was okay. Next time I’ll just go anywhere else in Miami.

Great.

By Daniel K |

Great Cuban food to eat at the airport but the experience was really made by the waitress Osmany! Great guy and a really good ambiance

Coming Back from Cuba

By Gobitrip |

We arrived back from Cuba Snorkel trip and had a long time layover in Miami Airport. There are so many restaurants but we are in love with Cuban cooking so we chose La Carreta and it did not disappoint. We had Dinner and chose Rice, Beans and all sorts of other Cuban dishes and for desert the platanos and a most delicious chocolate cake. Although this is an airport the food was really good. and the place is ok not too noisy.

Nice place

By Camila A |

Indi gave us an excellent deal, very delicious food, a nice and clean place and with very friendly people. I'll definitely be back.

Great service by Osmany!!

By Piero V |

Osmany is the best waiter I ever met. He was so happy, kind and such a lovely person. I Hope he gets a lot of reward for the amazing job he does.

Good food and helpful employees.

By Stephen C |

Best airport food I have had anywhere. Employees were courteous brought the customers' trays to their tables. I will not bother eating anywhere else when passing through MIA airport. I would have rated La Carreta 5 stars but was annoyed with the rock music playing throughout the restaurant. Some Cuban music would be more appropriate in my opinion.

Customer service is not their specialty

By mrichter58 |

Food is ok but plentiful. Their service is suspect. Ask server behind counter what a side order portion fried yucca cost. She said $3.50 (regular price is $6.25) so I said okay. When the order came out, I asked her again and she said $3.50. Went up to the counter and cashier (Madilyn?) copped a nasty attitude with me and said "no, see the sign" pointing. I told her the girl said they were $3.50. She ignored me and gave me the total. Had there not been a line of hungry people behind me I would have told her where to put the yucca. The Crew Leader came by and I explained the situation and THEN he wanted to contest it with me stating the golden brown yucca I was eating was the boiled yucca and that it cost more. OMG, are they on the same planet???!!! If you are not happy with your food or service, good luck with customer service. We are frequent customers to this restaurant as we connect in this terminal on a regular basis BUT they should their true goals....your wallet so we will not be back.

Yuck!! 🪰 ON FOOD! There was

By cseegrenpeed |

Yuck!! 🪰 ON FOOD! There was a fly on my french fries, and my husband‘s Cuban sandwich was hard as a rock, we hated this place. I don’t think it was a bad night I think it’s just awful- airport food - go to another restaurant instead!

INTI IS THE BEST !

By Jacqueline O |

My father and I came to La Carreta after our flight from Atlanta GA to Miami FL. We always come to eat here whenever we land in Miami and we’ve been coming for years. The wonderful ambassador of La Carreta, INTI, is always on point ! He is extremely friendly, charismatic and always makes me feel at home whenever I come to Miami. He provides great service always !

The service from Inti was the best part 🤷‍♀️💜

By Sarah J |

Such a tasty place plus the service was amazing I wasn’t even suppose to be waited on but my man Inti took care of me getting me fresh water and ice! He’s amazing

Great experience

By lorebrugal |

Excellent service, delicious food. The people that work there are very friendly, always have a smile on their face. The place is clean, organized, highly recommended.

Good cuban food

By Jules C |

I like this cuban restaurant, located in MIA, my go to whenever in Miami as its good value for a nice sit down lunch or dinner between flights, lots of tables and chairs to dine, and browse through your phone in comfort, as the dining area is very spacious, my favorite is the Chicken and rice with vegetables, very hot and fresh..a must try!

The best part of leaving Miami is La Carreta

By redman33 |

We all know the end of a holiday can be anti-climatic. Easing back into the real world is made easier when at the airport you can visit a restaurant and enjoy outstanding local food. La Carreta is a that place for me at the Miami Airport. Good (sometimes great) food is available all day. You do have to walk through a cafeteria line (get over yourself) and ask the helpful line-staff if you do not know what something is or what is included with your selection. I have never been to Cuba but I believe most of the food is Cuban (and/or Caribbean) style. I'm not concerned with ethnic origin... I simply love the tastes and texture. On Jan 20 I had lunch of Picadillo, Fried Sweet Plantains and dirty rice. Picadillo is a traditional Cuban dish made with ground beef, potatoes, onions, garlic, cumin, bell peppers, white wine, tomato sauce, raisins, olives and capers. So good. For desert, I walked to the counter in front for an espresso and Guava and Cheese pastry. La Carreta has stews, steak, fish shrimp, pork, sandwiches, salads, etc. Go... you will find something.

Great clean place with decent food and prices

By bryanmantezoni |

We stopped here to get some food , it was about 7:30 on a Saturday night, quality of food was good, choices were plenty including desserts and customer service was very friendly, they accept credit cards and establishment is overall clean. Recommended.

Overpriced breakfast!

By James A |

I used to love this place and I think it's still good but the breakfast was higher priced than I recall. Decent as far as airports go. Staff were nice and the coffee and pastries are still top notch.

Amazing latin food at affordable prices

By Vamonosinfo |

Forget about old airport food. This a completely different history. If you have time at Terminal D (North) Miami International Airport head to La Carreta for the best food at fair prices. If you don’t have a lot of time you can take the food to your plane or just seat and relax. They also have a mini coffee to grab sandwiches and amazing expreso con leche coffee. La Carreta is near Gate D 38 just next to the Admirals Club. Finally, La Carreta was one of the only places open during March - April at MIA. They took a lot of careful serving your food and measures to keep everybody safe.

Final coffee

By cujimeScotland |

Came in here for a final coffee before our flight and it was quite nice as far as airport coffee goes.

Great service

By Maria A |

Great food, fast service and the staff was extremely nice, especially Alberto he was super kind and always very helpful and polite.

Be aware of low hygiene standards

By Gochitaa |

I ordered a tostada and cafe con leche just right before my flight. After waiting about ten minutes for my order, I found a long hair on my tostada and I saw something running underneath the coffee machine. I felt disgusted so I ended up throwing my food. I was about to approach the manager but he was arguing with another customer. I don't know how this place can be opened. Vey disappointed.

La Carreta Miami International Airport. Excellent service and food.

By Enriqueta Y |

Excellent food and service at Miami International Airport. I have always had a very good experience in all La Carreta restaurants. A good way to know the flavors of Cuban food.

Another great meal!

By TravelinCat_8 |

We always look forward to stopping here when flying through Miami; friendly and quick service and the food is delicious! Ropa Vieja and plantains are my favorites, while SO got the steak which was delicious as well. Meals are very big. Tableside clearing and after meal mints were a plus. Great job and thanks for the friendly service @Marcelo Blaseotto.

Good food!

By Martha A |

Getting the food was easy, buffet style and a lot of options to choose. The place was clean , the waitress were helpful, I had a lot of luggage and they helped me to find a table and got the food for me. Good price also.

Great airport lunch option

By John J |

Wide buffet selection with each item individually priced. For those not familiar with Cuban cuisine, it can be hard to choose - especially if many people behind you in line. We had the roast chicken and the vegetable beef soup (neither of those are the actual names for the dishes on the buffet line). About $20 USD

Great service

By Karrie B |

Osmany took great care of us and the food was excellent. Best airport food in a long time. Had fun hanging out and waiting for our flight.

Always a must when at Miami International Airport

By Kenneth S |

La Carreta is a classic in the Miami area with a big outlet at the airport. The food is freshly prepared and served buffet style. After countless visits I still enjoy the rice and beans or Arroz Imperial. The restaurant should however serve fresh vegetables instead of the same boring frozen combination of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.

Don Alberto

By Adolfo Vivas |

Mr. Alberto make me feel home and he is extremely professional and kindness. The food was great, but what really make the difference was Don Alberto. Thanks Don Alberto

Miami hub

By Israel M |

We love everything about this place , the food (even the buffet is excellent), the staff and the price are just great. This is our favorite place to eat at Miami airport and we recommend it to everyone, specially if you want to try Cuban home style food at its best. Last but not least, don't forget to have your Cuban coffee and a "pastelito con queso" before you leave. Even though is not a fancy place as a whole they are 5 stars.

A real find for great food in an airport!

By James Misener |

We were very pleased with this restaurant for our breakfast. Was close to our departure lounge and greeted and seated. Smiling faces everywhere. A Buffet style but all appetising food. Bacon , Eggs and toast were done to perfection. The server was very pleasant and smiling. No complaints at all. Recommend.

Make a stop for a last taste of Cuban food

By worktotravel14 |

This turned out to be a lifesaver after an endlessly delayed plane. I always am thrilled to have time to stop at La Carreta. This time it was packed, so I went for to-go and had a very well done fruit smoothie and some papa rellenas and croquetas. I think their little snacks are divine. It held me over until I got home.

Good choice in the airport

By hbhakh |

Airport dining is normally marginal, at best. La Carreta is a nice find at MIA. It's a cafeteria so not fancy but there are plenty of choices and the food is good. Prices are reasonable.

Amazing Cuban food

By Global41124977070 |

Great food, great atmosphere, amazing prices and awesome staff... This is the place to go while you are at MIA Intl. Our waiter "Inti", was a real gentleman.

While traveling

By Ruben D |

Because of travel, I am frequently in Miami airport. It was sort of a tradición to pick up something at La Carreta, specially if you had a long flight overseas. I noticed that lately, quality and portion size is not the same than before. But the balance between price, quality and comfort is getting very tight. Also a bit disappointed with the service, before they even recognized the patrons and were quite attentive. Lately they have a never ending number of new people, that seem to care less about the service. Price wise still ok , but getting closer. P

Inti is so sweet, he came to check on us during our meal to make sure we had everything we needed. He is very kind and friendly, I hope to see him again, as we are passing by through flights.

Avoid at All Costs, Foul Food, Insulting Service

By Michael |

If I could give this zero stars I would. I came to this place because every place was packed. This was too, but the line was moving fairly quickly for the buffet and sandwiches. I checked the menu and saw a few things that might work for me so I took a chance. Little did I know the damage it would do. I waited through a dozen people patiently and didn’t like the look of the oily, heat-dried food so I found my way to the sandwich maker. He murmured “Cuban or Midnight” to me, and I said “sorry? I’m hoping for the fried fish.” He responded with the same three words. At that point I was confused, I was guessing he didn’t understand me for some reason so I looked at the menu above him and asked “where do I get that food? Is this the place?” There was a list of over a dozen options, mostly sandwiches, some fried food. He said his three words again. At that point I was confused. Luckily the pilot behind me said “he’s trying to say they are all out of everything but Cuban or Midnight sandwiches.” I realized then that I was dealing with a neanderthal with limited vocabulary, though this wasn’t a language problem as it was his native tongue. I made my way back through the line I just waded through to order from the buffet. Bad move. I ordered the pulled pork and rice with friend plantains. It tasted foul from the start, was more oily than a squid’s lactating tentacles, and I was unfortunately hungry enough to eat over half of it. It’s now one day later and I’m eating Imodium and Peptobismol like candy. This place was criminally bad.

Very good

Excellent attention from Osmany ask for the best and delicious Cuban sandwich

Excellent service

By jaime |

The service was great and the restaurant was very accommodating to our large group of tired travelers. It was an unusual experience and very pleasant experience.

Great food reasonably priced, super friendly staff ! Osmany made it our pleasure with his hospitality!

By David H |

So we came across this Gem of a restaurant after flying in to Miami airport! My wife and I shared the Skirt Steak ( which was delicious) Mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. All of the food was delicious. Osmany was very friendly , even brought us mints , after eating. For being in the airport, I’d expect the prices would be higher like everything else is these days , but the reasonable priced quality food was a great value. We will definitely stop back when traveling through Miami International Airport!

DISAPPOINTED

By Melanie |

Disappointed. La Carreta smelled awesome when we came off the plane. We thought we would be getting awesome Cuban or Cuban-fusion food here in Miami. NOPE. $33 for an entree and 2 sides. We had very dry chicken with mashed potatoes and black beans with rice. We also had churrasco steak with the mashed potatoes and plantain. The best part of the meal were the mashed potatoes and the Coke. 🥺🥺🥺🥺 Not much bang for $70

Good, Service, Price YES!! Go Eat!!

By Mary B |

In 40 years of travel as an adult (we are 65+) this is the 2nd best airport food/service/price I have ever experienced. Big special shout out to Inti and Yanoy for awesome friendly service!! I had Cuban chicken, rice and beans, and potatoes $15, husband had Ropa Viejo, plaintains, rice and beans, $16 Big plates, great food, great people!! Go eat. (The 1st best was 25 years ago- Chilean Sea Bass on a paper plate for $7 Banreservas Aeropuerto Gregorio Luperón )

Best Cuban Coffee

By Calvin R |

Fast and friendly service staff. The Cuban sandwich was decent but the coffee was excellent. Prices were not too bad for an airport.

Best garlic chicken and airport meal I’ve had

By Emma H |

For airport food some of the best I’ve had. Ordered the chicken the plantains and the seasoned rice. Devoured the whole plate. Not fancy as expected at an airport but the food is delicious

Soulful savor With a touch of nostalgia!

By Douglas M |

The service was five stars, hands down! Our waiter’s name was”Osmany”. He was very attentive, friendly and polite. Very detail oriented. The ambience was perfect. I felt like I was at a Cuban restaurant and the food was amazing! I felt like I was in Little Havana. truly a pleasure to have eaten here before heading back to our final destination Wilmington, North Carolina with my wife.

Great food!

Great food, and great service. Inti gave us a 100% customer service. Super happy with the cuban meal. Definitively recommend stopping by. Thank you!

Perfect

By Julissa F |

Thank you Inti . Great customer service!! He was very nice and kind . Great food! We love la carreta restaurant. Our favorite place is Arroz imperial

It works

By Jose B |

La carreta is a cuban cuisine restaurant located at the American Airlines gate area in Miami! I have eaten numerous times and decided this time to review the place. There is no wow factor when eating here! Its quick clean and latin food. If you are in a budget and hungry!! This place does the job!!

Gotta be careful what you order

By Foodcritic11_11_11 |

I’ve had decent food here and I’ve had poorly cooked or old food here. The steak they use for breakfast and sandwiches is often tough as nails. Had some of it today. They ran out and brought a fresh tray that was over cooked like shoe leather. My wife’s cuban sandwich had hard as a rock stale bread. Really disappointed since we took it to go and never had the opportunity to send it back. Cost us $34 which is a beat for poor food

OK

By 2BEis2SKI |

Nothing bad like some of these other stories. In fact, the maduros were quite good. Sandwich was fine. Fries too. I had the media de noche both times (coming and going same week). This is my favorite Cuban sandwich but certainly not the best I've ever had. Food options are pretty limited in MIA for grab andn go, at least the term where La Carreta is located.

QUICK AND EASY

By Rodolfo S |

Quick, good food! Osmany in particular was of great help and service! Thank you again to Osmany! Couldn’t be more pleased with his service.

The lasy who served my capuccino was MEAN And Rude

By Patricia Roxana T |

It happened today tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 2pm. Just because I asked if they have a special coffe with sugar like with caramel . she served my cappuccino and skipped my turn serving a coffe to another client who ordered it after I paid my order and when she handed my coffee she said "It has sugar if you want more served yourself! Unacceptable behavior for a worker who has to be nice and smile to the costumers and be thankful for consuming there

Never come back

By joker t |

I have eaten at this place during a transit in Miami Airport but the food was the worse I have ever experienced in US. I tried grilled beef but what they put on the plate was some burned meat...going to the supervisor he offered to change it but even on the 2nd time the beef wasn't good for eating (burned again although not all of it). I will never go back here.

Usually decent - not this last time.

By MichaelBermuda |

I always have a Cuban sandwich here when I am going through. This past time it was thin on the meat and luke warm even though I asked for it hot. The staff are always disorganized.

Best place to eat in Miami airport!

By CBClovestravel |

Delicious meal while waiting for our flight in Miami. Salmon, rice and beans and plantains. Also black bean soup and rice pudding. Very affordable pricing for airport - $40 for two of us and that included two bottles of water as well! Will seek this restaurant out when we’re in Miami!

Good latin food

Inti is amazing!! He is so helpful. We love this spot everytime we’re in the Miami airport. Delicious ropa vieja, great spot.

The best food and service at the MIA airport

By gstrann2019 |

For the best food and top-notch service, find your way to La Carreta Restaurant at Concourse D37. One of the servers came from behind the buffet to assist with carrying my food tray to the cashier, and even the cashier assisted me to a nearby table. Both did so with a pleasant smile, and each told me to enjoy my day. Then, a manager was assisting with clearing tables and left to get a glass of iced water and mints and toothpicks for some of us patrons. Can I give them a 10 out of 5....hahaaa.

Really Good Option at Miami Airport

By TravelingSoccerLoon |

Maybe the best food option when flying out of Miami International Airport. Authentic and tasty Cuban food is offered. Better to order from the made to order menu than getting stuff of the buffet line.

A taste of Cuba at Miami Airport

By FJGonzalezG |

For years, I’ve been stopping at La Carreta on layovers at the Miami International Airport, and the latest visit did not disappoint. A walk through the serving line leaves one swooning with the sights and smells of traditional Cuban cuisine. I always liked everything I ate there, but I do have a very special soft spot for their Cuban Sandwiches, which are the ultimate. This time, I just wanted coffee and I asked for a Colada (a double shot of sweetened Cuban coffee/expresso), which gave me a jolt of caffeine the likes of which I had not since college. The smell was almost as wonderful as the taste. My wife asked for a Cortado, which she loved. The servers are all friendly in a no-nonsense/efficient kind of way, but they are quick to smile. Our order was ready just as we got to the register. While sipping our coffee, we enjoyed watching the middle-aged staff manning the coffee shop part of La Carreta. They work quickly and efficiently, while bantering and barking out order numbers in both English and Spanish. I grew up among Cuban emigres in Spain and in New York City and my visits to La Carreta bring back memories of my youth and help keep Cuba low in my “bucket list” for now…

Where the airline pilots dine!

By Cavydad |

Where the airline pilots dine! Always a great recommendation to see the flight crew eating at a restaurant. We asked them if the restaurant was good and they said they dine there frequently. The black bean soup and Cuban sandwich were excellent. Fast, convenient, get in line and go through the cafeteria, make selections and pay. Nice dining area.

Great service and food!

By The1NJen |

Had a great experience and I wish I did this yesterday because with traveling I forgot the name of our amazing waiter that his name starts with the letter O. He was just so cheerful and kind. I was right on top of getting us everything that we needed to make our time there enjoyable. The food was also delicious

Host with the most!

By Kim M |

Osmany is an incredible host! We felt like we were guests at his home for dinner. The selection is wonderful and if you try only one item, it must be the plantains! This will be our go-to spot when passing through Miami. Thank you Osmany!

Cuban Food

By Christopher S |

Did you say great Cuban food. This place is one of the best restaurants and tasty places I have ever ate at in an airport. Picadillo is amazing and have the Tres Leches.

Comida y staff 10/10

By Camila V |

The food is delicious! And I love that it’s really worth the price. I’ll definitely come back here next opportunity. Also, we met Inti, he made the experience even better, so friendly and welcoming that we were more than comfortable.

Osmany 🥰🫡🫶

By Fernanda M A |

The cafeteria portion of our visit wasn’t great. There were too many people & it wasn’t that organized. Then we sat down & met Osmany in the seating area. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make our visit better. His positive energy and caring personality were exactly what we needed to be able to enjoy our delicious sandwiches cubanos. Muchas gracias Osmany! 🥰

Good food, great people and services.

By Isara I |

Good food. Better services. The dining room team was fantastic. Mr. Osmany was the best. He was kind, helpful and, is just a pleasure to be in his service. Thank you, your caring is rare in this day and age. My flight was delayed so I had an opportunity to see him work.

Best Cubans Sandwich’s

By William T |

We had two Cuban sandwiches and they were excellent. Best I have ever had!!! Osmany was our server and he was fantastic. I would recommend stopping by this place if you are going through the Miami airport.

Amazing waiter Osmany

By Anne A |

Our waiter Osmany was professional, helpful and courteous. The food was well priced and large portions. Thank you, we will return to La Carreta.

Cafeteria

By TravelTalk2 |

As others have said, the food is quite good here. Portions are huge and the price is right. Be aware that this is a cafeteria and the choices can be a bit confusing. Dishes look similar, some sides are available as "sides" and others are an extra charge. So I'd recommend you either scout out the line behind those ordering so you know what the choice are before you have to order or go when there is no one behind you in line so that you can ask questions. Otherwise it's easy to end up with food you didn't plan on having. Good luck and enjoy!

Just got of the plane meal

By Hector V |

Well I was told this was a great place to eat but I have mix reviews, it was disappointed! Food and not prepared when you ordered they already have it prepared and you pick what you wanna eat, food was food, tough n it tasted like food that was done hours ago.

Typical airport food

By richj65 |

The service was slow but it was very crowded when I was there. Typical prices for the airport. Generous size sandwiches tasted fine. Most people were there for the coffee, which I did not try.

A really great Cuban sandwich!

By Jim G |

My wife and I really enjoyed a very delicious Cuban sandwich here. We also had fried plantains which were excellent the service was great and the seating was very clean. Great staff all the way around. Highly recommend.

Excellent service

By Paula V |

The food was delicious and the service even better! Thank you very much to Inti who was extremely attentive to our table, always watching if something was missing and with the best willingness to support. Nice to eat here.

Very Good Cuban Breakfast Sandwich

By Maryann L |

We just got off a red eye from Lima, Peru and were ready for a good breakfast. La Carreta fit the bill. Order from the counter, collect your food and find a table. There is a server to help in the dining area. I had an egg and ham Cuban sandwich. The bread was crusty and so good. The sandwich was quite large. My husband had fried eggs, ham and toast. His breakfast was also very tasty. Good food and reasonable prices and in an airport.

Great food

By Nathanangela |

The food was amazing! We got a cubano sandwich and 2 mojitos. Inti our server was awesome I will recommend this place for sure and go back whenever I'm in Miami airport again.

You won’t believe it’s airport food

By elephantEngineer |

I try to eat at La Carreta (across from gate D37) whenever I fly through Miami. Today I got roasted chicken, black beans and rice, and fried plantains from the cafeteria line for $11. Served with a smile.

Wonderful experience and food

By Sadie C |

Such a delicious meal and wonderful service. Made our layover memorable and delightful! Inti was so kind as was the older gentleman that welcome us in and showed us our choices. A+++ people and food !!

Delicious, clean and very friendly experience!

By Aldo C |

I was greeted with such a friendly and helpful team ready to explain any dish and how to order it. The staff were also very helpful with seating at a table of my choice and reacted quickly to any questions or preferences I had. Everything I had was fresh and delicious in a very friendly and clean dining area. Looking forward to coming back!

Average food

By Kathleen B |

The food was okay but not great at this restaurant. We were very very hungry, so you make do and keep your standards down.

Amazing Experience!

By Kimberly G |

The food was delicious and fresh! But what was even better was the service and friendliness we received from Osmany. The best!

Terrible Breakfast!!

By Miguel M |

On Wednesday, March 20 at 5:45 am during my trip I had breakfast at the airport, I paid $24.00 for a cold breakfast, the fried eggs, ham and potatoes were cold as well as the toast, the coffee was the only thing hot, for what you pay, the quality of the food is not up to the price. At that time there was no manager where I could make a complaint. I am a frequent consumer of the restaurant in Miami, but after this bad experience I don't think I will return.

Great food and service!

By Natasha A |

Osmany was extremely helpful and helped us feel very velcome. The food was delicious especially the fried sweet plantains and arroz moro.

Eat here when at the airport

By AlreadyBeenThere |

I love this place, and unfortunately I never have time to actually eat at the sit down part of this restaurant. Pressed for time, I just go to the quick order part. Always get an empanada or two, and a papa rellenas. I'm crazy about both. Food is awesome and extremely good! I cannot speak highly enough. One person takes your order on the bag you should use to carry it out. They do not write your name on it so when you get to the checkout the people there don't know what you've ordered, there's two other people still trying to pay for their order and it gets chaotic and frustrating. That's the only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Just know that and plan for it. Eat here anyway!

Amazing

By Jennyffer M |

Food was amazing, and Inti service was great, he was also very friendly. We will definitely stop by again on our next trip. We love it.

Good food cheap at the Miami airport

By Peter R |

Had 30 minutes between flights and happened to land in front of La Carreta. Had tasty empanadas for short money - spinach and cheese, and chicken. Really good deal.

Loved la Carreta

We loved the place! Never disappoint! Inti was super nice, kind and friendly. Best croquetas at the airport, dont pass the opportunity🥳

EXCELLENT SERVICE, FOOD, AND CARING!!!

By angellaw293 |

EXCELLENT! I ate breakfast here between flights at the end of November 2024. The food selection and quality were great. The workers were very friendly and helpful. I had a broken foot so I had a medical boot on my foot. The servers carried my tray for me while I selected food, paid, and went to my table. The entire experience was great and I will return the next time I am at the Miami International Airport.

La Carreta

By MVW |

I visited La Carreta before 2025. The Cuban food is good. The service is fast and their coffee is excellent. Prices are reasonable. You can eat inside the restaurant or take your food to go. Located inside Miami International Airport.

Surprisingly good eatery in Miami International’s terminal D

By S G |

Often, finding a descent meal in an airport is a challenge, if not impossible. Most airport food seems to come from an eye catching package, machine, or reheated from a box that moments before was in the freezer. Can anyone say microwave? If you happen to pass through Miami International’s terminal D, then do yourself a favor and visit La Carreta Restaurant. Yes, this is a sister location to the famous Little Havana eatery. Many of the same menu items are available with plenty of seating area for weary travelers. Other than the food and friendly service, my favorite aspect of La Carreta Restaurant in Miami’s terminal D is the cafeteria style service. Yes, you did here me correctly. The cafeteria line allows travelers very fast access to freshly cooked food choices including Bistec de Pollo with grilled onions, Arroz con Pollo, local caught, grilled, Mahi Mahi (Dorado), Lacón, Oxtail, magnificent soups (Friday’s fish soup is my favorite), daily specials, and on and on. But, the best part of that “cafeteria line” is the speed at which you can get in and out. The friendly lady’s who work the counter are kind, and generous - - this is not the mean “lunch lady” line you remember from school. So, if you’re catching an American Airlines flight out of Miami International, do yourself a favor and make the walk to La Carreta, just across from gate D-37. You’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Simple and Delicious Cuban Grub

By nextmountaintoclimb |

Arriving at the airport on a sufficiently lengthy layover I started roaming the gates looking for something somewhat decent to eat. Upon seeing this place, and missing latino style fare that was plentiful in my ex-state of habitance, NJ, I decide to eat here. Upon entering and getting in line I am overwhelmed by the different dishes they had especially since I was hungry and likely had eyes bigger than my stomach. Having to narrow it down, I decided on moro (black rice), and roasted chicken with red beans and platano maduro. To my delight, they also served malt drink which I purchased as well. The food was delicious. The beans were amazingly tasty and easly rivaled the fare I had when living in NJ. All of the accompaniments went together very well. Although it took me a long time to finish everything, it was so worth it, especially since this type of food is much harder to come by where I live now. The restaurant is much bigger than the tiendas in NJ that served like food, but was nicely laid out. What also upped the star rating for me was the fact I had just come from St. Lucia and splurged on fine dining, yet this experience was just as satisfying for significantly less dineros. Five from me.

Lunch on our stopover in Miami!

By Norma Y |

Great location next to our gate. Nice ambiance and Cuban decor! Delicious chicken asado, rice and lechon. Muy delicioso! We also had an excellent server, Osmandy who was very attentive to all our needs. Wonderful dining experience we had!

Classic Cuban restaurant, go for the "ropa vieja"!

By Lola M |

I love, love shredded beef, so ropa vieja is one of my favorites dishes ever..well they cook it to perfection in La Carreta (paired with white rice), fried plantains are also very good...I keep going back whenever I am in Miami airport!

Cuban Oasis at MIA

By swpavisitor |

I am not a great fan of MIA, but La Carreta made my experience much better! First, it was sit-down restaurant with a good variety of reasonably price food. I had fantastic frijoles negroes (black bean soup) that was delicious and comforting, which I ate a table overlooking the tarmac. Service was also very good -- caring, kind, and quick. I would certainly return to try other treats from its menu and to enjoy a cuban speciality from the bar!

Missed the taste

By Ginger F |

I grew up in Miami in the 60s. The Cuban food was real. This restaurant proves it still is. It is on ground level on the way to our terminal and gate. It was sooo good. We had Lechon Asado with Arroz Moro & sweet plantains. Carried them through security. They provided plenty of napkins and appropriate cutlery.
