Where locals go for a quick mexican meal

By Froggy929 |

A few blocks up from the beach. There are interesting mexican style artifacts inside. The menu had a mix of typical mexican food tacos, combo items, fajitas in addition to snapper and entrees with the green sauce. It's good food with large portions at reasonable prices. We ordered burrito and fajitas but we could have split and just ate one or the other. Homemade chips and salsa are good but the salsa is hot hot hot.

Great little Mexican place.

By Clif2nG |

This place is small but large in the things we look for. It feels like a place you "discovered". First off, the food is great and reasonably priced. I had the fajitas and it was the largest pile of fajita "fixins" I've ever had. My friends all had various tacos which are their specialties. You can BYOB but you pay for chips and salsa if so. The salsa was very hot b

So good we went back again the next night

The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Authentic Mexican which is a nice change for us being from Australia. Simple surrounds in an interesting neighbourhood.

Delicious inexpensive food in a homey environment!

By RachellWeist |

We were looking for a small, "hole-in-the-wall" kind of restaurant and La Fiesta Brava definitely fit the bill. Great prices for tasty food that is very filling. the staff are friendly and the food comes out quickly. We wish we were near Venice for another night just so that we could have more!

A simple, good, family run Mexican restaurant

By Mike L |

La Fiesta Brava has all the basics: good food, friendly and accommodating staff, relaxed neighborhood atmosphere - and it's very inexpensive. The real deal.

Authentic mexican food in Venice Beach

Looking for a place to eat authentic mexican food, we found this gem called La Fiesta Brava. The staff is very friendly, and the food is amazing. Try it!

Little gem of Venice

By Seannie Cameras |

Amongst the hipster bistro's and trendy restaurants of Venice lies a little gem of an authentic Mexican cochina called La Fiesta Brava. Unassuming, don't judge a book by its cover because the best food haunts are usually within a veneer that isn't the most sun-splashed, adorned with exposed brick, have an "&" in its name, or have a famous mural on it's side wall. FB serves authentic, home cooked Mexican classics extremely well and has been to the West Side community for decades. We recently used their location for a product advertisement we were shooting and when wrapped had them cater for our crew. I chose a staple that is hard to mess up but also hard to do well: Carnitas. They were just the way I like them: shredded, crispy, but full of flavor and maintaining it's flavor. Lying on top was a nice accompaniment of salsa verde which helped it maintain it's moisture, and served with traditional rice and beans, with 3 hot tortillas. The owner Randy was attentive, accommodating, polite and cared about his customers as much as he cared for our crew. They were open for business while we were in production and he was a one-man-band taking orders, bussing tables, and helping us move along so our shoot schedule wouldn't be tied up. They did a nice business for a Saturday but no wait times, and everyone left happy. Would definitely recommend this place to a local or a tourist to experience family owned/made Mexican cuisine in one of the most saturated food scenes in LA. Right off the beaten path of Rose and across the street from the uber-trendy Rose Cafe it doesn't call attention to itself when it honestly should.

Real taste of Mexico

By Erin M |

This was the most authentic Mexican I’ve had! So tasty and the real deal. Great prices and friendly, helpful staff. We got take out so cannot comment on restaurant experience. But thoroughly enjoyed my meal and highly recommend.

Best mexican food in Venice!

Truly authentic mexican food, great taste, generous portions and very affordable! Nice family restaurant! Loved it! Eat here!

Great Mexican Food, Great Value

By Lynn F |

What this little hole-in-the-wall, lacks in decor, it most certainly makes up for in the delicious menu. The food is better than many area restaurants that charge twice as much. La Fiesta Brava is a small restaurant, with a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. They don't serve alcohol, but there is a market next door that sells liquor and the restaurant just charges you $1.50 for chips and salsa if you bring in outside beverages. The fajitas were delicious as was the carnitas and the chicken enchiladas. We'll definitely go back again.

Amazing Mexican food

By Alister D |

Amazing Mexican food just minutes away from the beach. Not a lot of seating or space, but service was good, fast and prices were cheap. Would recommend the Carne Asadas.

Amazing gem

By VancouverKoukla |

A small hole in the wall with broken door and no frills booths. They dont serve beer but you can buy it next door at the market. The food was among the best Mexican I've ever had, especially the pork. I'd like to return to L.A. just to go back there!

Good quick spot for lunch!

By Jit M |

If you're in Santa Monica Pier, the place is 10 minutes away! The food was fast, and the service was efficient and friendly. Good prices for delicious quick meal! Love the place. Will go back and eat there again. It's worth the drive from Santa Monica if you want something not too pricey and not for tourists. Good Mexican food.

Amazing Food And Service!!

By Diane K |

I had done some research prior to our trip and seeked this restaurant out once in Venice Beach. I am so glad we did!! The food was just amazing and the service faultless!! We ate here four out of the five nights we were there. The staff were very friendly and helped with the menu when required. They make the best guacamole we have ever tasted. All the food was fresh and the portions generous. I would definitely recommend a visit to this restaurant.

A small Mexican restaurant forced to move two -three blocks by "progress". Now located at 259 Hampton Dr. Very solid. Service is fast and food is good. We had grilled chicken with mole sauce and a second entrée of pork burrito. The Mole sauce is one of the best we have ever had. We were too full to try dessert My wife had the horchata and I had the Mexican CocaCola which had the advantage of sugar rather then corn syrup and came in a small green bottle (like the old days).

Worth going out of your way for!

By Jock M |

I have been here twice...once 3 years ago and once last week. I use to live in LA so I've had a lot of mexican food. La Fiesta Brava is my favorite by far! Not very glamorous, only a few tables, located in a small strip mall in an out of the way part of Venice. But is it ever good! Every thing here is really great Mexican, right down to the free homemade chips and salsa. The salsa is wonderful. Even the rice and the beans are special...not your usual Mexican restaurant fare. I had an enchilada and taco combo....both excellent. They do something special here with everything, I don't know exactly what, but you can taste the difference. Try a combo plate with a Mexican Coca-cola...you won't be disappointed!

Reasonably priced

By Melinda G |

We were told that this was a good Mexican restaurant that was family-owned. The portions were large and the service was fast. They don’t serve alcohol but takeout is available. I was happy to have horchata.

Authentic Mexican restaurant with excellent dishes

By Alexis B |

After a beautiful walk on Santa Monica and Venice beach, we opted to have lunch at La Fiesta Brava. It’s a relatively small restaurant and the staff are all Mexican. We were pleasantly surprised by the big portions and quality of the dishes. My shrimp fajita was superb and I actually wanted more. The guacamole was delicious. My friends also enjoyed their meal including the Red snapper. It’s a true and authentic Mexican restaurant with a reasonably priced menu.

Amazing and cheap

Best tacos I've had in LA - vey authentic. Very small unassuming restaurant. But will definitely be coming back again & again!

Low-key, family-run, excellent food

By mrlan |

It's an assuming spot a few blocks back from the beach. Really enjoyed the tacos a la carte, including shrimp, shredded beef, and another type of beef taco which were all about $3. Kids had the smothered burritos which are not my thing but it was a big serving and they liked it. Homemade salsa was excellent. Note: No beer, but they have Jarritos, Coca-cola from Mexico, coffee, and other non-alcoholic drinks.

Authentic, local, no frills

By Keiraroo |

Best food I have had on this trip to LA so far. I had shrimp fajitas and they were very nice, the feel of the place is relaxed and it's great for a bite to eat after a long day when all you want is to grab some good cheap food. Choose this place over any fast food joint. It's completely no frills and if I hadn't read the reviews I probably wouldn't have come in here, but glad we did.

Very pleasant great food good service

By Tom Y |

The restaurant made salsa is delicious. Jut hot enough to get your attention. I enjoyed the cheese enchiladas served with rice and beans. I’m convinced these are the best I’ve had in LA. This is my go to test. Definitely coming back to explore more of the menu.

Outstanding!

By AC W |

Wow, come visit this wonderful family owned restaurant for authentic Mexican food. The mole was fall off the bone fantastic, guacamole was fresh and delicious, and my husband declared the carnitas taco the best he ever had. Clean, excellent service by the owners, and fun! Take the walk a few blocks off Venice Beach Boardwalk for this gem.

Cheap tasty food.

By OwenFamily |

Went here for dinner this week. The food is cheap and tasty. All the staff were helpful and friendly. The surroundings are basic - but don't let that put you off. They give you chips and salsa while you wait for your meal. We had Burritos, chicken fajitas and chicken mole - all were a good size portion and tasty. There was 6 of us and we each had a main course and 8 soft drinks between us and the bill was $79.

Wide selection of Mexican food

By CS |

Wide selection of Mexican food at very reasonable price. Super friendly waiter. No liquor license yet, but the are in the process of getting it.

Inexpensive and average

By NeuTeam |

We were looking for a quick, relatively inexpensive dinner and found it here. Small place, limited seating. The server was pleasant but casual and seemingly disinterested. The food was fine.

A hidden gem, blink and you will miss it

By Suexmex |

Found this place through Tripadvisor. Was in the area and when i eventually found it it looked like the building was closed, but i guess the management are a lot better at cooking than at Marketing. Once past the dark front door you step in to a small simple restaurant which has nothing to brag about. But now the important part, the food. I ordered two tacos and they were very good. Authentic feel and taste to it. Nothing fancy but if your in the area looking for good affordable food this is an excellent option. I will for sure return in the future. In addition the waitress was friendly.

The second best taco I have

By Melissa T |

The second best taco I have had ( first is at the Alibi room) This place isn't fancy but it doesn't need to be because oh my the food is great! The mom and daughter who run this place are so incredibly kind and awesome! The tacos are so good the cheese is melty ooey gooey goodness and the way they do the taco shell is just so darn good!! They have great dishes for a great price. They do not sell liquor but you can bring in your own beer which is really cool. The chips and salsa they start you off with is so good and spicy I love it! All their dishes are great but I can't get enough of their beef tacos! You will not be disappointed! They have a few outdoor tables out in front of their restaurant, but they fill up quick as so many people have caught onto this amazing place!

Best Mexican food yet

By Marvin B |

The food here is amazing. It's extremely inexpensive for what you get. I have never been disappointed despite the fact that it is a hole in the wall. It's very popular among the locals. It was a great discovery from a friend of mine and now it's one of my favorite restaurants in Venice.

Excellent neighborhood Mexican restaurant.

By foodreport2017 |

Great casual , down to earth. Serves really good basic Tex-Mex. Oh and BYOB ! They don't serve alcohol, but you can bring your own ! Excellent service.

Authentic and delicious

By Julie S |

When in Los Angeles, you have to eat Mexican food at least once. If you are in or near Venice, then go to La Fiesta Brava on Rose St. Small and obviously loved by locals. Terrific food, great service, great price, homemade chips and salsa, and byob from the corner market if you want a beer with your meal. We shared a six-pack with people at next table. Terrific experience overall.

Delicious lunch, seemed "authentic"

By Kate H |

This is family-run restaurant with a casual vibe. Nice mix of workers from the surrounding area in during our Monday lunch visit. Husband and I needed a quick lunch while wandering around Venice, but didn't want to eat beach food or anything too greasy. This was perfect and cheap.

hidden secret

By chesterdraws1 |

This liitle gem sits just five blocks from venice beach,at first impression doesn't look much , However the food is not only great but unbelievably reasonable ,try the fajitas yummy. Also if this wasn't enough there is a liquor store next door ,where you can purchase beer or wine to drink with your meal , now thats deal !!

Down Home Mexican place !

By foodreport2017 |

Really cool unpretentious place near Venice Beach. Relaxed atmosphere with a couple of tables outside as well. Feels like it is family run.Food is great basic Cali-Mex in perfect portions. No beer served, but you can byob inside no problem. Great service , cool place, good vibes.

Great authentic Mexican food at decent price

By Dirk747 |

We have walked by a couple of times over the last few years, but decided to turn in today. What a pleasant surprise! Outstanding Mexican food, great service and very decent pricing. As a family of 4 we paid less than 60$ for some great burritos and garlic shrimp pan. Marvelous! Will return for sure!!!

Feels local, cozy place with excellent food

By Kaszymki |

It feels very local and pleasant. They don't sell alcohol but you can bring it from the store next door. Service is excellent. They served us food just in few minutes. I really liked burritos with chopped beef. The place is located 10min walking distance from the beach.

Family friendly place and solid food

By SMOgal |

Meals are tasty - with standard Mexican food selections, and fair prices. Service is efficient and I think it's family operated.

Good food, friendly, good prices

By CJIOhio |

Large portions, friendly staff and good prices. It was a family friendly atmosphere. We ordered a meal to go which was delivered just as we were ready to leave.

Great fresh Mexican at a cheap price with great service

By Jessica S |

As soon as we stepped in we received a warm welcome. The food was amazingly fresh and full of incredible flavours. The other thing was that it was cheap. I would advise anyone to try out this brilliant restaurant with a very welcoming and great service.

Family-Owned Mexican Cafe by Rose Ave

By ViewsAndReviews |

Located right by Rose Avenue and close to Gold’s Gym, La Fiesta Brava offers Mexican cuisine and both indoor and sidewalk tables for dining. A local raved about it, so perhaps my expectations were too high—-or what I ordered was not the best choice. I had shrimp tacos street tacos style and one crispy shell Chicken taco. The former just ok, the latter quite delicious. It’s a family owned place and I love supporting independent businesses, so I’d try again and order something else.

Fast, authentic, and delicious!

By Mike W |

Nothing special for atmosphere here, just excellent and authentic Mexican food and great service. I had carnitas, a chile relleno, and a taco--all great. Good horchata too.

Very good burrito, a wider selection of salsas would make it perfect

By Marco Spaghettiman |

Yesterday I went to eat at La Fiesta Brava. The place is nicer than the typical taquerias. I ate a steak burrito that was really good not heavy to digest. I also loved the agua the orchata and the tortilla chips with salsa. The only "ok but not great" side was the lack of salsas selection: they have only one type of salsa, that is very good with the tortilla chips but not the best for a burrito. Definitely worth the price.
