We had a business dinner here with about 20+ people. Private area provided, older décor that was less than memorable). They did a set price menu ($20, including tip) for tea/water, a homemade bread with a great dipping olive oil mixture, salad and your choice of 1 of 3 entrees (fish, chicken & beef lasagna). The food was good and large portions. We had a great gathering and it was a nice change from the several Mexican meals we had already had during our stay in San Antonio. Behind the restaurant was a homemade ice cream shop that was a great finish to a good meal. Limited parking but we all found spots eventually.

The outside needs to be updated but it was fine inside. I had lunch there and it was very good. I had a combination eggplant parm and chicken parm. The serving was very large for lunch and it was good. I didn't really eat the spaghetti that came with it because it was too much. Service was good and it wasn't a lot of money. I will bring my daughter here for dinner before we go back home.

This restaurant used to be a favorite. As we walked in for dinner, the hostess was on the phone and walked us to our seats while talking to them. We sat down in an older booth with dirty windows and flies buzzing around. All the wine by the glass was a no name house wine. The waiter was charming and attentive but our initial impression was so bad that we decided not to have a main course. It was sad to see a once vibrant restaurant so tired and lifeless now. I would not recommend it anymore.

We were staying in the King Williams neighborhood and wanted a low key spot away from the crowds of the riverwalk. Our B and B owner recommended this place and we were so glad we went! We were there about 9 on a Monday night and it was pretty slow, but we received excellent service from Manny. He let me try 3 different wines to make up my mind... ;) wine list wasn't too extensive but did offer some good Italian varieties. We just wanted something light so both opted for pizza and they were excellent! Such good flavor and cooked in a brick oven I believe. Brought out excellent focaccia with olive oil dipping sauce before the meal... It was so good it was hard not to get full on that. Seemed like your standard little Italian restaurant, decor not going to win any chic awards, but it did not disappoint! If you're over the King Williams way, I would def give them a try.

Situated in the quieter King William district where it is less 'touristy' than the River Walk, this quite large restaurant is nevertheless very popular and deservedly so. There is an excellent menu and the food is tasty and well presented. The decor is attractive and the family and staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming. An authentic touch of Italy in the middle of Texas!

The server was very nice but had no idea about the historical aspects of the area. Not to be rude but they have no concept of Italian cuisine. The worst pasta sauce once ever eaten.

We walked down to this restaurant from Houston and Navarro this afternoon only to find the restaurant not open. There was no sign on the building. If you plan to go, be sure to call first.

A very quaint family like atmosphere type restaurant. The service was great and the food was good. Prices were not too bad.

Nice place to eat away from the Riverwalk. Reasonably priced. Service was good. Good sized servings.

La Focaccia is at the center of an up and coming part of San Antonio just at the entrance of down town. It caters to a community or district as old as the city and to a newly revived area full of new money. The food is delicious and fresh, and the prices are not affected by tourism. There is also a great pianist performing music from the classical to the modern--a highlight of the evening.

I’ve grown up in the restaurant business with my family & many family friends owning Mediterranean (Greek & Italian) restaurants, & despite some good reviews, I can say this was one of the worst Italian places I’ve ate at. They use very low quality ingredients & their bland sauces taste like they came from a can. Our food was over-salted & otherwise tasteless. Not sure how this place has been in business so long. Prices are extremely high for what you get. I’d rather eat fast food.

The focaccia bread is the best item on the menu. It comes free if you ask when you sit down. We tried the mozzarella sticks appetizer. The cheese wasn’t stringy or melted or hot. My husband had Shrimp Scampi which came with a bit of shell attached but unintentionally. More like someone didn’t know how to cook it. It was rubbery instead of tender. I ordered the ribeye since they were out of Filet Mignon on an early Friday night. I ordered medium and it came tough and well done. They cooked a second which was better but not a good quality of meat. They didn’t offer a different choice instead of steak. The server mentioned the manager isn’t big on discounts but she didn’t charge for a second glass of wine. I would suggest a new manager, quality control, and customer service. Until then, keep walking.

Went here Friday night with friends. Had the shrimp and pasta. Wonderful ! My friends plates looked fabulous too! Waiter Rubio was fantastic! Warm Great Place.....

Every time we visit San Antonio, this is our choice for great Italian. Food is always excellent and the atmosphere conducive to relaxing and enjoying your meal.

From the outside, this place seems a bit worn out and run down. The interior hasn't been updated for years. But, from the moment we arrived, the service was friendly and attentive. Our party had a large variety of menu items and everyone was pleased with the quality and taste of the food. We would definitely visit again.

Six of us were going to have dinner at the Gristmill, but it was extremely crowded and it didn't take reservations. We returned to our B&B and walked about 10 minutes to the La Focaccia Italian Grill. We were seated right away and were awarded with delicious meals. The reasonably priced menu was varied, but obviously leaning towards Italian. All our selections were well prepared and very tasty. Being a weeknight, it was not very crowded, noise level low, with excellent service.

We were headed out for fish tacos but came upon this spot on our walk So glad we have it a try!! Amazing food and I’m hard to impress when it comes to Italian. Wonderful bread We split eggplant Parmesan and were both full. Great Malbec wine Crem Brûlée was to die for!! Fantastic server by the name of Bernard A return For us lies in the future

Went there for lunch today. The service was very good and I enjoyed the ambiance. The bread they served was excellent. Food was good and priced right. I had the Chicken Eggplant Parmesan with spaghetti. There was definitely enough to fill you up. I will definitely like to try this place again.

Do not go to this restaurant!! They did not have most of the menu items that we tried to order! What we did order was not what was described on the menu!!! It was in a weird location and was not a food experience at all!!!!! Old and tired!!!!!

La Foccacia has been our favorite restaurant for so many years now. The atmosphere is so romantic and beautiful and the food is superb. The service that we get is so personal and friendly and kind. We can't wait to return. A truly wonderful restaurant.

It has been a long time since I ate here, but the quality is still stellar. I had the chicken marsala and it was fresh and tasty. Love the focaccia bread they serve, too!

My colleagues and I frequent this place on our Friday group lunch thing. We've always had good food and good service. The shrimp Focaccia is really good as was the Chicken Lasagna lunch special. They bring you great flat bread strips and olive oil to keep you appetite under control until the real food arrives, which always wins extra points in my book. And the Tiramasu was light and excellent...not that I needed it but... Parking can get hard to find if the closer to noon that you wait to visit. We'll definitely keep this on our rotation list!

Good food. Pleasant service. As visitors to San Antonio my wife and I popped in for a Saturday evening dinner. Several extended families were enjoying reunions around us. This family friendly restaurant is dated but lively and quick to get good food to your table. Exceptionally delicious Focaccia bread instantly showed up on our table. The entrées were well portioned and tasty. Enjoy and remember having dad talking out the family for a special occasion!

My family always goes to La Focaccia for special occasions--Christmas Eve, birthdays, before going to plays at The Majestic. It's so unique, we just adore the decor and the man who plays the electronic keyboard! Our favorite thing, though, is the FOOD! I've ordered almost everything on the menu, and have never been disappointed! My kids just love the pizza, and I adore the Chicken Romana. Extensive wine menu, too.

We found this place literally around the corner from our B&B. Serving fresh bread from the oven that was smack dab in the middle of everything, this restaurant offers pizza as well as traditional Italian dishes. We tried a couple of their entrees, and while they were good, we found ourselves envious of those families around us that had ordered the pizza since the bread they served was particularly scrumptious. Next time . . . pizza!

We did the Riverwalk thing and happened on this gem while looking for something a bit quieter and more unique. The moment we walked in the door, the quaint atmosphere and sincere smiles told us we were in the right place. We noticed through the evening that this is a family affair and everyone goes out of their way to make you feel part of the family! Our waiter, Josh, helped us work the menu. Our scallops Florentine, linguini w/clams in white sauce, and shared Caesar salad were perfect. We normally do not order the house wine, and Josh convinced us to give the Chardonnay a try. Much better than the expensive wine we had on the Riverwalk the night before. We topped off dinner with a tiramisu. Oh man, that was tasty! We enjoyed our evening so much we decided to go back again! This time we tried the shrimp appetizer, snapper and that house Chardonnay again. Save some bread for dipping in that appetizer sauce!!!

Within walking distance of hotel; wanted something other than Mexican. Decor not impressive, but could be with a little updating, could have "old world charm". When we were first seated, we noticed an empty table near the window and asked to sit there; of course. However, guess it was in a different servers area, so waited a little while before someone came to table. Server was nice, but ...... menu indicated Happy Hour Sunday-Thursday til 7PM. It was almost 7PM when she was taking our drink order. When asked if we were still in time for Happy Hour, we were told there is no happy hour on Sunday. Showed her the menu, she said she had been working there so many months and they've never had happy hour on Sunday; that the menu was old. When I said politely, well, it shouldn't be on the menu if it won't be honored. She replied, well, ok, I'll do it, what would you like! Bread and seasoned dipping oil were good. Not very hungry, we shared a Caesar Salad and Veal Saltimbocca Focaccia. Way too much dressing on salad (although a good flavor); veal was decent; meat sauce on side of spaghetti sauce was good (although there was a $2.00 up charge for meat with your sauce). We ordered an Italian cake for dessert; it was moist, but just OK. She brought us the bill, we put down credit card; didn't really look at bill as were we talking about something in particular, when she picked it up, she said, Oh, I forgot the dessert, so I'll have to add that. It was not busy that night, so service could have been better and server could have handled happy hour situation a little better.

Had dinner here last night and we enjoyed our linguine and seafood dish. It wasn’t one of the best dinners ever but I recommend it

Complete power outage for almost an hour, when we arrived. The staff made it very cosy with candle lights and cell phone lights. All drinks during the outage were free. After that, delicious food. Nice atmosphere with live music. And all for a very reasonable price. Will come back again.

La Focaccia is a fabulous Italian restaurant. The service and food were excellent! Starting with warm bread and great wine in a friendly atmosphere then appetizers, and main courses of northern Italian food. The sauces were some of the best I have had. Save room for the homemade desserts too. Everything was perfect!

We wanted some good Italian food and were looking for some place we had not visited recently. After considering the options we decided to go to La Focaccia and were glad we did. La Focaccia is a reasonably priced Italian restaurant with good food at reasonable prices with a nice variety on the menu on the south edge of downtown San Antonio. It was a Wednesday evening and the restaurant was not as busy as it has been on other visits. The food was good as we remembered from earlier visits and the staff was very friendly and attentive with out being overly attentive. The eggplant parmigiana came with a salad and a side of pasta. It was very tasty, the salad was fresh, and I requested for garlic butter sauce on the pasta. My wife had spaghetti with marinara sauce. Her meal came with a salad also. We will keep La Focaccia on our short list of places to eat Italian food in San Antonio.

Disappointed in crowded, over-priced restaurants on Riverwalk? This is a fine, reasonably priced restaurant serving delicious Italian food just three or four blocks walk away. Okay, the neighborhood has seen Riverwalk divert business away leaving it a bit dodgy. Instead of a mob of tourists, the have a view out the window of an auto repair shop. Inside, the decor is staid. The food tastes great. The staff provides excellent, friendly service. What a great value as long as you don't mind a short walk. There is limited parking the lot, but the streets have room. So leave the crowds and get more value.

Let me start this review by stating how accommodating this restaurant is. I entered with a group of easily twenty people, but by the end, we were all seated, and we only lost one to the eternal depths of hell. This restaurant is very authentic, and I wished to try all of the different pizzas that they offered, but my group discouraged me from ordering pizza and I was left to order some noodle dish from China, or so it seemed. The menu described this noodle dish as spicier than a squirrel trying to hang curtains, but in actuality, was much more mild. The sad truth was, the noodles were disappointing and lacked character and finesse. After the disappointing noodles, I decided to try my hand at the chicken parmigiana (a staggering $15) and ordered some coffee as well. My mates ostracized me when I was ordering the coffee, as it was 10 o clock at night; but I did not let them discourage me like they discouraged from ordering "unauthentic" pizza. This chicken parmigiana was dry, and the noodles unsatisfying. The sauce was decent, and the coffee was good once I put in exactly 3 creamers. The restaurant had a local bard playing music, sent straight from the realm of perfection to play for us. The melodies that were so sweetly performed were as lemonade to a six year old dying of thirst. The music was more beautiful than a horse on steroids, and I recommend listening to it to anyone who wishes for their ears to be purged of their mortality, for those who wish to transcend into the second realm of existence. The bathrooms were quite clean, yet small and crowded, as there were only 2 stalls available for a large restaurant. Our waiter was very pleasant and charismatic. All in all, it was a mediocre restaurant. It would have been better if my date would have paid attention to me rather than the gay guy sitting to his left. This gave me much more time to take in the intrinsic facets of the public establishment, really resonating with my depression at the moment.

Super ... super friendly. I saw the reviews and they seemed positive . I was looking for something to take back to the hotel. If the food turns out as well as their attitude, it will be a huge winner. I will let you know

Oh my gosh! This place is awesome in every way! Yes, it does have an appearance on the outside that makes you a little cautious BUT wait to you see the inside! Incredible! This is a family owned, local, neighborhood AUTHENTIC Italian restaurant. OLIVE GARDEN doesn't even appear to be Italian compared to this place. Food wonderful - hubby Fet Alfredo, me Scallops Florentine. Service unreal. Michael was at our table with a glance in his direction. The owner, Dominic, came to the table to make sure everything was as it should be. OK, yeah, one review said parking is an issue. I'm sure it is on a weekend night but on Monday night, we parked our 12 passenger van out the front door. We live an hour away & WILL be back & will put this on our list of regulars.

This is a must-go-to place for us each time we visit San Antonio. Husband and I both love the Cannelloni, which we order with a side of Alfredo sauce to make the sauce "pink". The focaccia bread sticks and olive oil are so yummy with the salad bar and the wine list is good too. And did I mention the pizza? Ah! When it comes out of the wood burning oven, the crust crispy and the cheese all melty and drippy? Oh, yes, the pizzas are just wonderful!

This restaurant has the atmosphere of a family owned place. Food very good, fresh and service excellent. It is close to down town, and a hidden gem.

The smell of a wood fired oven and baking dough are two cooking "fragrances" that open the faucet on my salivary glands. That's the smell that greets you as you enter this old office building turned Italian eatery. The place is dark, rather cozy, and comfortable. You would almost expect to see red and white checkered table cloths with straw covered chianti bottles sporting candles and loads of wax frozen in time as it ran down and cooled along the sides of the bottle. As a matter of fact, I love kitschy little Italian restaurants furnished like that. Something terribly nostalgic and fun about it. This place is a little more upscale though without losing any of the romance. We had heard that the pizzas were good, but decided on a seafood dish instead. Red Snapper Romano with tender crisp vegetables and a side of pasta with butter and garlic sauce was an excellent choice. The fish filet was flaky and delicate reposing in a sauce of white wine, lemon and butter. You can bet we dipped the scrumptious complimentary flat bread in that sauce! We had come here to celebrate a special occasion and were happy to have done so. My wife let the cat out of the bag and we were brought a complimentary dessert of tiramisu. Both with hunger well sated from the terrific meal, we still managed to find enough room to finish off the light, tres leche-like dessert in short shrift. Just the right amount of sweetness and richness without being too heavy. Perfect! So maybe you won't find a candled chianti bottle on you table to pick the wax drippings off of while you wait for delivery of your salad. But I think the dining experience and good service is certainly enough to get you by until you do.

Fantastic food, large portions. The servive was wonderful, my friend and I ate here after a long day traveling to San Antonio. We were pleasantly surprised. She went back a few days later to take here mom for mothers day.

Although they were only half-full, service was slow and incompetent. At times we had busboys, greeters and waiters (3 different ones) serving our food. The attitude of most of the wait staff was "aw shucks, did I get that wrong? he he" -- seriously! We waited 20 minutes for someone to bring menus and water. Maybe another 10 minutes to get the wine list. It became very confusing for us because we could not figure out who our waiter was. At one point, the bus boy became our waiter. On to the food--they were out of several appetizers, so we ordered calamari and waited and waited. After about 20 minutes, the calamari arrived, shortly followed by another platter of calamari arriving with a different waiter! We only ordered one appetizer. I won't bore you with the rest of this tragicomedy, suffice it to say we won't be back. No, we didn't complain to management because by the time we got the check, we just wanted to escape.

I have been here 2 or 3 times when in San Antonio for work. I have to say the food is always good, but the service is really spotty. The parking is even more frustrating. I continue to go back because, I like the atmosphere and the menu.

Family owned, good service, pizza was wonderful (they make their own dough), great wine selection, bread sticks were delicious. Highly recommended.

We have eaten here several times and in the past it has always been very good. This time we were disappointed in the meals. Kids said there pizza was very good. Flat Bread and olive oil dip was good. Service was good at first but then we had to ask another waiter to ask our waiter to bring our bill.

Just got to SA today after 20 years away and stayed near RiverWalk. Within two blocks we found this amazing restaurant, La Focaccia, with excellent food: Ribeye and Pork Tenderloins, both were mouth-watering and served with the freshest vegetables. We had two glasses of Pinot Noir and Tiramisu and Spumoni. The service was professional and helpful, and the cost was something worth driving to SA from Houston to get!!!!

The food is OK. I've had comparable food at a Carinos with easier parking and for less money. I've been there twice for lunch and we had a great server both times who made the visit worth being there.

Food was very good. They sell wine and beer. They serve warm bread with olive oil for dipping. Service was very good as well.

We are always looking for good Italian food. We were not disappointed. We got the Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken LaFocaccia with Mariana on the side. It was fantastic. The bread is unique and the dipping oil is delicious. We heard music and thought how good it sounded and realized it was a live musician, Francois de Bernex. What a treat he would go around and ask what would we like to hear him play. His story is fastinating and he is happy to share. The servers were very attentive. It is a bit "tired" looking in some areas but it has been there for a long time.

Nice secluded location on the riverwalk, not too crowded or noisy. Food is consistently good and the service is too. They validate parking (use the hotel valet) when you pay the check. Makes it easy to get in and out without the downtown parking hassle.

We tried this place on the advice of our hotel front desk person. We ended up really enjoying our meal. The service was great and the food even better. I had the Chicken Parmesan and my daughter had Fetticine Alfredo. Both were very good. Overall, a pleasant surprise! Definitely recommend!

Visited this place for a family meal on a recommendation from a new friend. No disappointment on this visit whatsoever. The bread sticks were great! I ordered the Chicken La Focaccia & it was delicious! Our waiter was very polite and extremely attentive. We were serenaded by an elder gentleman playing the keyboard. He visited our table and had us in tears with laughter. We most definitely will be returning to this establishment in the future while in Southtown. Our only complaint was that we didn't find it sooner!

Great local family Italian restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Their bread with the olive oil is good. The food is tasty!

This was by far our favorite place to eat in San Antonio. The wait staff was attentive and extremely pleasant. They specialized in Italian food and it was top notch. The chicken marsala was just about the best that I ever had. On the weekend they also featured a pianist who played Broadway tunes and other music.....he even took requests. Located in the King William district, the restaurant was a 5 minute walk from where we stayed. All in all, it was our favorite place to eat.

This is very much a set-piece Italian restaurant of the sort you've seen all over the country. La Focaccia isn't cheap, but the food was perfectly tasty, the portions quite large, and the wine very nice.

We shared the mussels and both enjoyed our shrimp dishes! Great service and reasonable prices. Having dined on the River Walk several night, this was refreshing!

We are from Texas, and love our Mexican food, but sometimes you need a change. We happened upon La Focaccia while walking in the Historic District of San Antonio and decided to give it a try. Were we thrilled with the results! My husband's scampi oozed with garlic/butter aroma, and the shrimp were huge! I ordered a spicy seafood dish which was prepared with just the right amount of zip to balance the gentle combination of shrimp and pasta. My eight year old granddaughter finished a plate of beef ravioli (yawning at the end from her very full tummy), but still had a bit of room for their chocolate layer cake. The only disappointment was that this was our last night in San Antonio and we could not return - this trip- for more! I would highly recommend this reasonably priced restaurant with excellent service and a "you belong here" atmosphere.

Everyone goes to Rosario's but this place is next to it and hidden. It was recommended by the hotel bartender. The service was good and so was their pasta. They also had piano player. My dislike is I had the scallops and they weren't that great but the pasta was; therefore, stick to Italian food as that is what they are known for along with their pizzas.

Had an early dinner here (so don't know about regular crowds) and found the food very tasty and surprisingly inexpensive. The Pizza was great! as was the Calimari. The atmosphere was warm and comfortingly Italian. Loved watching the pizza oven fire! This restaurant has been here forever.....so where have I been?

We were told La Focaccia was a short walk from our hotel. It was actually closer to a mile. Was it worth it? You betcha! The restaurant has a nice vibe. Everyone was super friendly. The chef is open to changing pasta types and sauces. Lasagna was perfect. House wine by the glass was good. The only thing I would change is the salad bar. It was small, difficult to navigate and had a limited selection. Still, would definately recommend!

We enjoyed this cute place!! Family owned for 20-30 years. Cute and a bit campy--old style Italian. Loved the ambience, very friendly, great server. The food was plentiful and tasty. Pretty basic, nothing fancy, but fresh and homemade. Highly recommend!

We had a late dinner and our waiter was very pleasant and enthusiastic. He was attentive yet left us alone to dine. I love that! This was my second visit and I did enjoy it, would recommend it and will be back!

For the record, the only redeeming grace of this restaurant is the service. Our server was perfectly attentive and kind during our time at La Focaccia. That being said, I have a lot of questions. First, is it intentionally trying to be a kitchy, stereotypical Italian restaurant? Or is that unironic decor? Because it really felt like something out of a scene in a movie that was really trying to communicate that the characters were eating in an Italian restaurant without saying they were. Second, should one be able to make the dish they had better at home? I'm no chef, but I'm pretty sure my from scratch spaghetti and meatballs was better than what we were served. I would not go back here, personally, though I appreciated the friendliness of the staff.

This Restaurant is exceptional!! We go everytime we visit our Daughter. Family owned, brick oven for fantastic bread & olive oil dipping & Homemade too!! You must stop in if your in the area of King William District/ Southtown- trust me it's Excellent !!

Everything is good - from bread to drinks! Moderate prices mixed with good service is always a great combination!

I try to eat here every time I am in town because I LOVE this place. The pizza is amazing and the staff is always great. Parking can be tricky but its well worth the effort. I was a little disappointed on this trip because they didn't have any chocolate desserts. This should be against the law. I settled for the creme brûlée and it was very good. I will be back again the next time I am in town.

Being Italian has its ups and downs. One of the hard things being that when it comes to Italian food, your always looking for that authentic cooked by Nona taste. This slightly off the beat and path location near the river walk offers pretty close to that. Wine choices were not overwhelming but sufficient to accompany the meal properly. I enjoyed the Veal Parm very much. The oil and spices for the bread seemed wasted by the way the bread was toasted and prepared. All and all a well prepared, served and warming dining experience.

Family-owned Italian Restaurant with delicious pasta, beef, chicken, and seafood recipes. Plenty of good wine to choose from with extremely friendly, professional wait staff. Comfortable, relaxing atmosphere in a large dining room with a hugem old chandilier which adds to existing ambience. On-site free parking. Soft keyboard music rounds out the experience. Super friendly owner who visits with the clientele without being intrusive. Very reasonable prices.

We wanted a special dinner out for our last night in SanAntonio, and LaFocaccia did not disappoint. We were greeted as friends at the front door and the ambience extended from there. Our service was excellent and the food was great-just what we wanted for a special last memory of SanAntonio. It was hard to believe how reasonable it was for the service, ambience and good food we received. We would highly recommend to anyone!

We really enjoyed our meal here - desserts were also very good. Arrived early for a corner booth to enjoy live piano music by their resident world traveler, Francois. At 85, he's a wonderful treat you won't find these days anywhere else. Come hungry and you won't be disappointed.

Family owned. The boss said they're using the same recipes his papa used when they started in the biz in the early 70s. Worth waking past the River walk. Caprese salad with fresh basil, caneloni and manicotti fillings were delish. Veal saltonbuca very yummy with mushrooms. Spinach and prosciutto. Another to add to my make sure you go back next time in San Antonio

We'd seen somewhere that La Focaccia had great Italian food but we weren't impressed. They didn't have full bar..just beer and wine. I had eggplant Parmesan and hubby had lasagna. We both agreed we'd had better Italian food back in New England.

After a week of tex-mex, tex-mex and more tex-mex, this family was ready for some Italian food. We were seated quickly and the service was very good. Minestrone was excellent. My son and husband both had the seafood cannelloni and it was wonderful. My daughter had the lasagna which was very good. I had the veal piccata which I loved, but it is not for the timid as it has a very strong lemon and caper flavor. Parking is very limited so be prepared to park on the street and walk.

Probably the best Italian food I have ever had! Big servings, friendly service, and they even have gluten free pasta done really well!!

Used to be a favorite but the food has definitely gone downhill. Bad pasta and pizza. Very sad about it

Wonderful place! Simply amazing! We were greeted by Lisa and she was a delight! Food was so good, atmosphere was beautiful! This is my new favorite restaurant! The Homemade Pesto is to die for!!

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at this great local Italian restaurant. Trying to avoid heavy crowds on Valentine's Day, we had a late lunch. He had Eggplant Parmigiana and I selected Chicken Parmigiana. Both were so tasty and rather large portions. We also selected the house dressing (raspberry vinaigrette) which was excellent. We would definitely recommend this cozy restaurant if you want an Italian experience.

This is Italian at it's best! Great service, food and ambience! Go with a partner or with a group. They handle things beautifully. I do not find it "pricey" at all. Great value!

3rd. Visit. Took a large group. They loved it! They were ready for us. Service was awesome, food also. The atmosphere feels like Italy. Always a 5 star event.

Quirky restaurant but good, not great food. Apparently the A/C was out, or just didn't work very well and the restaurant was very warm. Eating hot food in a warm restaurant probably didn't do it justice. I'd return if the A/C was working

So we stayed in San Antonio for a week and found this on our last day.It was fabulous, veal Marsala fettuccine were so tasteful I didn't want to leave. If I had one thing that they could improve on would be the waitstaff knowledge of the food that is prepared.other than that it's a 5 all the way!!!!!😳

It is good to see that restaurants like this still are around -- a nice family run place with good food and service. Our group of four shared three entree dishes and each one was superb. I especially enjoyed their marinara sauce and the lasagna. (My wife always chides me for ordering lasagna when doing Italian (hey, try the lasagna at the Mulberry in Buffalo, NY, the best). The prices were reasonable and the service was prompt and professional. A good place to eat.

Hubby and I both like good food and we find that when we travel, most people recommend the restaurants in the "touristy" part of town. There is nothing wrong with that, there are many good restaurants in the "touristy" parts of towns but we are always looking for the "gem" in the city we are visiting. When we arrived in San Antonio, everyone kept making suggestions for restaurants along the Riverwalk. We tried a few and they were good but we wanted to go to a restaurant that the locals go to, somewhere we knew the food was going to be really good. After talking to many locals, we finally found La Focaccia. We were staying at the Drury Plaza, without a vehicle, and La Focaccia was about a 10-15 minute walk away...trust me, well worth the walk! This restaurant isn't much to look at from the outside and when you go inside, the decor is a little dated, the chairs aren't plush but the food more than makes up for it! On the weekends, Francois de Berenx provides musical entertainment on the keyboard. At one point Baron de Berenx came over to our table to ask if we had any requests and we had the opportunity to spend a few minutes chatting with him and his lovely wife, Danielle. We really enjoyed having the background music, it definitely added to the ambience of the restaurant. Our waitress was Sylvia and she was incredibly patient with us as we asked for her recommendations on the menu. Sylvia brought us a basket of bread with oil and it was warm and delicious. The first night we ate there (yes, we went back that's how good it was), hubby had the veal which had been recommended by our waitress Sylvia. Hubby was impressed....it was delicious. I had chicken parmesan and it too was yummy. We had absolutely no intention of having dessert as we were absolutely stuffed but when I heard that they make their creme brule in house, I had to try it...I'm so glad I did! Hubby had the chef's dessert which was a grilled banana bread with Neapolitan ice cream. Hubby is not a dessert person but he absolutely LOVED it and said that from now on he's going to grill his banana bread when he serves it. When we told Sylvia how much we enjoyed our meal, she had the chef, Francesco, come out to talk to us. He explained the grilled banana bread dessert to hubby...THANK YOU!!! We also asked Sylvia if we could talk to the manager. Sylvia brought over Dominic Ciccarelli who is the owner/manager of La Focaccia. We told Dominic how much we enjoyed our meal and the entire experience we had at La Focaccia. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we were going to cancel our reservation for the following night at a different restaurant and come back to La Focaccia. He smiled and said he appreciated that but I don't think he believed us until we actually showed up the next night. Dominic explained to us that La Focaccia is a family owned and operated restaurant that has been in business for 44+ years. Dominic said he learned how to cook and to run the restaurant from working with his father. How often do you go to the same restaurant twice when you are visiting a city? We sure don't do that as we want to try new places but we were that impressed with the food. The second night we went to La Focaccia we had their wood fired pizza. We did our pizza's to order and they were delicious! Whether you are a local of San Antonio or a visitor to the area, we think it's important for you to know that there is more to the food scene in San Antonio than just the Riverwalk. Give La Focaccia a chance...I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Real Italian food. Service was good. Food was brought out quickly. Use caution if ordering sort drinks. No free refills. Decent beer selection but nothing special.

The hostess, service (Bernard) and the pianist (Francois) were SO friendly! They made our visit most enjoyable. The atmosphere was very family-like. The food was good. The bread was very nice. Calamari appetizer was nice and light. Salad was a LITTLE heavy on the dressing. The steak and shrimp kabob was very good. I would definitely recommend this local eatery!

Food was OK. Dont understand the 5 star rating for this restaurant. The outside of the restuarant smells like dirty garbage, and the inside smells old and musty. The best part of the dinner were the breadsticks. Our waitress, Julie C. was awful. Rude, and snippy. She took forever to get our drinks and then was rushing us to order. Asking "Well, do I have to wait longer for your order?" There is NO kids menu, and she didnt like that we were going to give our side order of pasta to our daughter. She did not smile through our entire meal, but seemed more like it was an inconvenience to be serving us. Wont be going back here.

The salmon ordered came under cooked. Had to get up to find someone someone to take it back to grill more. It came back a second time still partially raw. And the very little bit I tried tasted fishy. The side pasta was so so and I also could not eat the vegetables. Ended up paying a lot for a dinner that basically consisted of just bread.

Love this restaurant. The food was so old country, it was like I was back in Italy. Great pizza, great atmosphere, great service.

We love this place and it's must every time we visit San Antonio. The shrimp scampi is my favorite but we have not had a dish we didn't love. It's well worth traveling a few blocks from the river walk.

Great Italian food, appetizers were amazing, Spaghetti with meat sauce, delicious, great service we were a group of more than 20 people, they did an excellent job, taking care of us

When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant! First impression is that it needs a deep clean as everything seemed to be a bit worn and dated! Our server was great but the food was average at best! Not sure I would return with so many other good options in the area!

La Focaccia's food, atmosphere and friendly staff made our experience in San Antonio's old King William neighborhood a home run. We were visiting from Denver and decided to take a break from the packed River Walk. Best decision ever!!! The linguini with white clam sauce was chock full of plump clams and so flavorful that I sopped up every last drop with the bread. My husband's shrimp in marinara was a treat. Our sweet server, Josephina, was sooo careful to get our orders right. And then we struck up a conversation with a couple of Focaccia's long time customers who'd come into celebrate a birthday. Then the owner joined us! The whole experience was a delight. I'd come on a date or I'd bring the family. The place isn't glamorous, but a trip to Focaccia is like a trip to your favorite Italian restaurant where everyone knows you and is genuinely glad you stopped in.

Very good food and service was excellent. Found it by accident very glad we did. Tony was a very attentive server and always had a smile

This place was recommended to us and I am very glad it was. We went on a Monday night which turned out to be perfect ... no wait and great service! I had the shrimp scampi (excellent) while my wife just felt like a shrimp cocktail appetizer. We also split the fried Calamari, which was tender and very lightly battered (perhaps the best Calamari I have ever had!). Although not ordered, I could also could see them preparing fabulous looking pizzas from their brick oven. To compliment our food we each had a glass of their house wine (Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon) which were fantastic at $6 each. The service was excellent and friendly.

Absolutely horrible experience. Service was terrible. My wife ordered a Cesar salad, they were out. She then ordered soup, they were out. Then five tables that came in after us were served before we were, and then the order was wrong. When I asked the waiter why we were being ignored rather than informed, he got nasty with me. I asked him, are you giving me a hard time, he says, maybe. We got up and left. I spoke to the owner as we left and told him I would never have someone like that working for me. Pitiful. Please, just go spend your money elsewhere.

I dined here on a very busy night but the staff was very attentive and had great recommendations for food and wine. I would highly recommend this place (with a reservation).

best homemade Italian style food in all of southtown..come by and enjoy the fresh homemade food . the lasagna was awesome and hot . great selection of wines also..

Went with the family on the recommendation of hotel personnel. Ordered basic pastas, pizza and a salmon dish. All were OK, but nothing special. One example: spaghetti carbonara - very basic. Seemed to be dry-ish pasta with a bit of parmesian cheese and bacon; completely lacked any cream sauce or other flavors or even veggies that I've had with this dish in other places. Service was attentive and personable, which wasn't surprising for such a slow night. Made sangria at the request of my wife and even added a few things at her suggestion to improve the flavor. The place & service was fine, but the food was below average.

This is a wonderful family owned Italian restaurant within walking distance of the King William District. It was the best food we ate while in San Antonio. The owner greeted us at the door with a hug and a smile. The pizza is oven fired and magnificent. We has the Margarita pizza and the shrimp pizza, all fresh and delicious. They serve an array of Italian dishes. The Tiramisu is made there and the best you will ever eat. We also tried a chocolate mouse cake that melted in your mouth. They make all the desserts in house. You can order an assortment of beer and wine to go with the delicious food. We had warm garlic breadsticks with olive oil and herbs on the side, complimentary. The service was perfect and the catering manager even stopped at our table to make sure we were happy. The parking is limited but worth searching for. So easy to walk from nearby King William. Can't wait to go again. It has been in this location 22 years and the owners father had started La Focaccia in another location that operated for 30 years before it moved to South Alamo. Wonderful Italian tradtion.

The focaccia bread and oil was divine! But the food was not great...just average. The building had a lot of potential, just needs some tlc. It could b a really great atmosphere especially since some great architecture already exists. We had the chicken, salmon and beef and have had far better elsewhere. Sorry. Wish I could say otherwise. Maybe they will change their recipes in the future. The house red cab was fair. It was very pricey for the quality overall.

The Oyster Rockefeller was a good appetizer. It was juicy but the hollandaise sauce was lumpy, more like cheese. The Spaghetti Carbonara would have been better with crisp bacon and the eggs were not what I expected. The Chicken La Focaccia had a good flavor but the chicken was tough. The pizza also had a good flavor but it had chunks of garlic that did not suit me.

While dining with family this evening, a disgusting roach was crawling across our table. It was not there prior to our food arriving. I will be calling the health department on Monday. So GROSS.

We went to La Focaccia because my son had purchased a Groupon for it because we were going to be in San Antonio. When we got there the outside of the building was so unimpressive that we almost decided not to enter the building. But we decided to send caution to the wind and go inside. The inside of the restaurant is definitely in need of a face lift but the waiter Chris who greeted us we decided to give it a try. The home made focaccia bread was delicious. Chris made some excellent suggestions when we inquired about the wine list. Our chicken and seafood dishes were all prepared perfectly and it was a delight not to have overcooked pasta and a restaurant knows not to serve red sauce with a dish that has a white wine base. We have already recommended this restaurant to family that will be in San Antonio in a few weeks.

Had the seafood cannolis and it was just wonderful. Vegetable were good and spaghetti with red sauce good. Husband had lasagna had a kick and really enjoyed. Daughter had a chicken dish with a kicking sauce and spaghetti with butter sauce. Bread with oil and herbs started meal out right. Waiter was great

This is a great restaurant for a romantic dinner! The best part was the live music that made for the perfect Italian atmosphere! The menu is very extensive and the food was awesome! My only small issue was the food temperature! I will definitely be making another trip and would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Our second trip to La Focaccia did not disappoint. It is conveniently located on South Alamo close to downtown. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. LF offers an extensive menu. We started with perfectly-baked focaccia bread and oil. Diver scallops served on a bed of wilted spinach were seared and seasoned properly. However, the flavor of the spinach did not appropriately complement the delicate flavor of the scallops. My grandson totally enjoyed meatball pizza. The third entree was a seafood cannelloni; a delicious, tastey seafood filling prepared inside a cannelloni. I hope to return because the menu lists many more offerings that I would like to try. LF offers an extensive wine and bar menu. Iced tea was perfect. Parking is limited but we had no problem finding a space at the restaurant.

We had a fabulous dinner, we loved our great Calamari appetizer, it was so yummy!! We split a Lasagna and it was plenty for us. Service was excellent . Highly recommend, good Italian food.

We enjoyed the outdoor seating, the attentive waitstaff, and the delicious food. We asked the owner to select our dishes, wonderful!

I have eaten here about a dozen times and have ran into the owner a few of them. Good food (pizza is underrated) and always good service.

The service was fast and friendly. We ordered 4 different meals and they were all delicious. Made my short list of favorite places in San Antonio.

Greeted by the owner and seated in a few minutes. The waiter was attentive and on the ball. The food was great we both had chicken and mushroom with side of spaghetti, with a great fresh marinara. Would definitely return.

We stopped in for lunch and were so glad that we did. The staff is friendly, our waiter was fantastic and made sure we were well taken care of. I had lasagna and my husband had a prime rib sandwich and we both ate every bite. The food was so good and the music was nice too. We really enjoyed it and I would recommend trying it.

The waitress was very attentive and helpful but the food was just OK and prices a re bit high for mediocre food.

The focaccia bread is amazing. Service is stellar. We came here years ago and weren’t disappointed on our second trip. Bernard was our waiter and he took great care of us. A wonderful place to take the family while in San Antonio!!

We walked from La Villita to this restaurant. Large inside, lots of nice seating. This is Old World Italian dining! Outstanding food, huge portions, excellent service. The 4 of us all ordered a lunch special. I had the Penne alla Siciliana and it was SO good! We surprised ourselves by cleaning our plates. Split the dessert. Grilled pumpking bread, drizzled with a caramel sauce and topped with Spumoni ice cream - YUM! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

When you walk in, it's a little awkward because the place is so big and divided into a dining area and a bar. No parking at all. Kinda junky with racks, shelves and chairs tossed around, but the service was good, the wine was excellent and the food was very good. High ceilings, kinda loud and noticed some serious cleaning needed to be done on the overhead heating ducts. Big portions, but no salad or soup served with the meal. Bread was served with olive oil and seasonings, but was just so so. One time was enough.

We had this place recommended to us but it was a bit of a disappointment. The service was OK but the food was pretty lacklustre. Very basic, over-reduced tomato sauce Italian food. And it wasn't cheap.

Took the family here at the recommendation of our hotel's front desk and the choice was a good one. Plenty on the menu and a decent wine list though we selected by the glass. The carbonara was very good though a bit too buttery for my taste - still quite good. The veal was okay but the seafood was excellent. Try the calamari appetizer. We were a family (all adults) of four . Though the service may have been a bit better, over-all a good choice in south San Antonio for Italian food.

This restaurant has been here for a very long time and serves very traditional Italian dishes. I tried their Pizza last week and really enjoyed it. The Cezar Salad not so much.

Many locals recommended LaFocaccia as one of their favorite restaurants. The wait staff was extremely helpful and fun, the owner made sure we were well taken care of. The gentlemen playing piano was great and took requests. The food did not disappoint. Highly recommended

... cooking, and not some Italian American cooking. Pizzas are being done the Neapolitan way: thick crust, refined with great spices and plenty of olive oil. I had one with italian sausage, pepperonis and mushrooms, embedded in a rich load of Mozzarella cheese. If you like Frascati, you actually get it at this place. Just ask the waiter, since it's not on the wine list. $27 for a bottle ... well worth the price! $55 for a dinner42. Pretty good! The service was outstanding!

It might not look like much from outside, but we were pleasantly surprised as soon as we walked in! Beautiful and friendly staff! Had super friendly waiter and amazing food! Highly recommend!

We had been by here a couple of times and decided that we wanted to go here for our last night. The service by our young waiter was wonderful, he was very attentive, answered all of our questions and just seemed very pleased that he was there to serve us. The shrimp Fettucine was really awesome and my wife loved her Penne Primavera. We would highly recommend this Italian restaurant in Tex-Mex haven.

Food was good but not worth the horrible service. The wait to get in wasn't too bad for a Friday night. The chicken was great and we also had the beef medallions, vey yummy. But, that was as good as it got. We ordered and then anything else we wanted took asking at least 3 times. At first, we chalked it up to the waiter being really busy but then the service kept getting worse. Beside the service being horrible, the live music was even worse. They have a guy playing a keyboard that sounded like it was from 1977. And, the building is very old and so is the furniture (the seats and tables really need to be replaced). The seats are covered with a cloth because the seats are torn (see picture). Finally, when we wanted to get the check, it took 30 minutes!! When we got the ticket, it took another 15 for the girl to run the card. This would be a 1 star review except I thought the food was good. I will never go there again and you shouldn't bother.

My wife and I came to San Antonio for the weekend and stayed at a VRBO property. The home came with a menu from La Focaccia. We were planning on going down to the river walk but pouring down rain changed our minds and we decided to order out. I went to pick up the food and found a very traditional Italian restaurant. I enjoy this much more than the chain restaurants. The owner greeted me and made me feel right at home. I wish we could have gotten the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere instead of ordering out. We shared a spinach salad which was the best either one of had ever eaten. My wife got the Chicken La Focaccia which was incredible as well. I wanted to eat light so I ordered a pizza and was only able to eat half. I got my wife a piece of chocolate cake that was home made and it definitely topped off the meal! They did not have Cannoli's this evening but I look forward to going back to try one. If they are anything like the rest of the meal they will be over the top! I appreciate the great service and wonderful food!

The food is authentic Italian with great sizes of portions. The atmoshere Is very Italian and the service is outstanding.

Ate here before a Spurs game and it was very good! This place was recommended by several friends and it was good. We had fettuccine Alfredo that was rich and creamy . The house focaccia was amazing g as well. They missed on the calimari, it was really chewy. The Tira tiramisu was also great. The only thing they need to consider changing was the rock music playing. I like rock , but it's not dinner music, and didn't match the cool old building.

I visited as part of a large business dinner. The food was OK, nothing special. I had grilled salmon (I require gluten-free) and it was poorly cooked.

La Foccacia restaurant is one of my favorite restaurants to go with my wife. Definitely a good couples place. Their wine selection is good and goes well with food they serve.

La Focaccia specializes in dishes as one would find in Rome, according to the lovely lady who greeted me at the door. The menu is varied, ranging from chicken to veal, seafood and steaks, to pizza and pasta specialties. I went with a very flavorful soup to start followed by the Penne alla Siciliana (Italian sausage and eggplant topped with melted mozzarella), which was also very nice. The sausage itself wasn't as spicy as I prefer, but it worked well with the sauce. Portions are plentiful, and each table receives complimentary bread. Service was very good (I was served by Felix), and the atmosphere a bit Old Worldy. Definitely worth a try for anyone tired of days of Tex-Mex!

I had shrimp scampi - it was OK - but when I mixed the fettuccini alfredo with the shrimp and veges, it was really good! Price was a bit high but the service was great.

From the outside this doesn't look like much of an option but we had been recommended to go there by hotel staff. We visited on a Monday evening and wondered why it was so quiet - turned out to be Monday night football ( not something we brits expected). The staff were welcoming, waitress attentive and helpful and the food was excellent. My daughter had pizza and we watched it being thrown, coated and cooked fresh in the oven. My carbonara was perfect. Definitely worth a visit

Excellent service, fantastic food, great atmosphere. We really enoyed our dinner. We were seated immediately, dinner prices were reasonable, their bread is amazing and everything we ordered was delicious. The best part was the service. We had incrediable service.

This is an old, neighborhood Itallian restaurant that serves very good dishes. The veal Picatta is yummy with bits of ham, artichokes and lots of delicious sauce. The butter garlic spaghetti is good too. They also serve focaccia bread in thin strips and olive oil with herbs before your dinner is served and is super tasty. The servers sometimes don't know how to serve wine, but no matter it a small glitch in an otherwise nice dining experience. The restaurant itself has soaring tin ceilings and a huge Chrystal chandelier, however the was are planks of wood and there is kinda gaudy statues, and other funky decor. This is not fancy fine dining, just good food, served by adequate staff. We dine there about once a month and would recommend this restaurant.

Big menu. Ate with 12 people. Everyone happy. I had seafood linguini that was delicate, tasty and ample. Service was quick and professional. Supper club we “crashed” will be there four straight weeks. Wine by the glass was fine.

My family and I have eaten at LaFocaccio and it's predecessor Luigi's for over 30 years. We've gone for lunch, for dinner, held dinner parties and business meetings there, not to mention birthdays AND our son proposed to his wife there at a dinner party in 2005. Never had anything but the best food and service - never, not one time was it less than first class.

We found this place on trip advisor . It was close to our hotel , not far from the river walk area, but I would say not walking distance . Our waiter, Tony, was very pleasant and made our visit enjoyable. We got at his suggestion, the shrimp and chicken fettuccine , except we asked for angel hair pasta. The sauce was very good and had a lot of meat. The salad dressing on the salad was bottled Italian, and salad was just ok, I would not get that again. The lasagna was good. We had the calamari which was very good and even had the tentacles. For dessert we had the cheesecake to go and it was wonderful. Do not get the "Italian Cream cake", I love the cake with all the nuts, coconut, and cream cheese icing. When I opened my box, it was a dry, tasteless cake with bright green layer and a red layer. I had a piece of the Italian flag!! We got a good laugh, but the other 2 had the wonderful cheesecake ! Place has an old world feel, a little worn, but still the food was good.

We've been here before and recently discussed that we hadn't been there in a long time. Well, we are both glad that we went back. It wasn't very busy because it was a Wednesday night and there were not many convention attendees in town. It is just a few blocks south of the Convention Center/Riverwalk Hotel area so it can be crowded when big groups are in town. My wife had the Salmon Salad and loved it. She said the fish was perfectly cooked. And, the "salad" was big enough to be a meal for her. I tasted hers and definitely agree it was very good. I had the chicken marinara. Let me get this "on the table" upfront, this is a spicy dish. In San Antonio you learn to like spicy or you don't eat out very much. It was delicious but I will say that I would turn it down a half notch. Again, that isn't really a complaint. I'd just prefer the kick to be a little more subtle. We did bring home some of the leftover marinara sauce and will use it in a home-made dish. The price was reasonable and the owners and table server were friendly and very efficient. All in all, a very enjoyable meal in a fine establishment. We'll be back.

Eaten there several times - one of our favorite restaurants in San Antonio - nice selection of italian dishes and wood fired oven pizzas.

Just a couple minutes south of downtown, and a change of pace (quieter and better value) from the Riverwalk restaurants. We were there on a Sunday night so no crowds and great service, and delicious food. Parking is skimpy so consider a cab or bus ride.

Saw the reviews and decided to try it while in SA. Good setting, but food is not authentic Italian taste at all. Wife's Penne pasta sauce tasted like right out of the can. My Spaghetti was pure butter flavored. Complimentary bread sticks were good, so was the dippin' olive oil with spices. Overall, poor and pricy (for what you get)

Whenever we are in or near San Antonio, we make a lunch or dinner stop in the family-owned La Focaccia Italian Grill located in the vintage King William district. This area of San Antonio is one of my favorite residential neighborhoods because of the opulent 19th century mansions that over overlook the San Antonio river. The ambience in this cafe invokes a cozy feel of times gone by. The tin ceiling, the cushion booth seats and the smells from the kitchen make me think of the Little Italys of our Eastern cities. The people are friendly, the food is hearty, and the wine is robustly red (or white, if you prefer, but don't miss the Chianti). On our last visit, I had grilled salmon with linguini and marinara sauce on the side. My husband opted for the Stracciatelli soup with meatballs and sausage on the side (beware--the sausages are somewhat larger than at most restaurants). Both meals were excellent. We also ordered a Garden of Eve pizza to go, which we ate in our hotel room that night. We will definitely stop at La Focaccia on our next road trip west.

During our recent visit to San Antonio we were looking for a nice place for dinner on a Sunday evening. La Focaccia Italian Grill was the perfect spot for a delicious meal and memorable evening. One of the best things about our visit was our waiter Bernard Sanchez. Bernard made us feel very welcome and provided great suggestions for our dinner. We started with fresh wood fired Focaccia with dipping sauce. Next course was a dozen oysters for my husband - which he claimed were some of the best he has ever had. We also had the Napolean Salad which is grilled eggplant topped with fresh tomato, mozzarella, and basil - all drizzled with balsamic vinegar. Oh My what a treat! We split an entree of penne pasta with eggplant and sausage covered in a parma rosa sauce. The grand finale was the desserts - spumoni ice cream and Tiramasu. We felt like since we had split an entree we could double up on the desert. Perhaps a little flawed logic but seemed like a good idea at the time. At least we burned a few calories walking home since we polished off a nice bottle of Troublemaker over the course of our meal. If you are lucky enough to make it to La Focaccia ask for Bernard - he's the real deal and very knowledgeable about the restaurant and San Antonio.

It has been almost a year since I ate here because I live out of town. It was as good as I remembered and I even ordered something new. I had the Rosemary snapper and it was really good. It was moist and had great flavor. I also love their bread which I soaked in the juice from the fish. Great service and I can't wait to come back.

Food was great; service was great; Mario was very friendly; we even planned to return the very next night, however, our plans changed. We WILL go there again the next time we're in San Antonio!

Went for our last night out with business friends. It was a Saturday night and they were able to get us in on a last minute reservation. They had a little old man playing keyboard and the place was jumping. ;-) the was was great and the service was good. It was a great evening with friends.

3 glasses of "house wine" almost $21.00. That is too much. Food as usual is excellent but disappointed in wine price. Eat here often but will drink first.

It's like stepping back in time at this San Antonio restaurant. Old world charm, attentive wait staff and good food made our dinner enjoyable. The bread sticks and dipping oil was divine. My friend had Chicken Marsala and I had Veal Piccata. Both were served with a side of spaghetti (your choice on sauces). The meal was very good. I would visit again! It's nice to see family run restaurants survive in a world of chains.

Probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever been to. To start, my glass of water came with a friendly bug crawling out of the glass. Then i ordered the minestrone soup which was completely tasteless and left my palate with a layer of fat. As entree I ordered the penne primavera. I mean what could go wrong with such a simple plate? Well, the pasta and the vegetables came in a pool of oil with tomato sauce and only one flavor, garlic. I just couldn’t eat it all. We left as soon as we could. I only give it two circles because the service was very friendly. Never. Ever. Again.

I do not often write reviews. Mainly because of the 120 characters minimum. But this time, I have enough to write. I had Penne arrabiata. Let's start with the Penne. They where completely overcooked at a point that I was able to slice them with the fork. The sauce was put on top of the pasta, leaving the bottom swimming in water.

We loved everything about this place. Very welcoming and friendly hosts, amazing food (particularly enjoyed the linguine pescatore and tiramisu), great wine and loved the interior. We will be going back and we would thoroughly recommend La Focaccia!

We heard this was one of the "better" Italian options in San Antonio (which does not appear to have a lot of Italian restaurants). Came for lunch and the restaurant was not crowded. Service was good and they do have lunch specials. The menu includes a number of typical items offered by Italian restaurants and they also have pizza prepared in a wood fired oven. We have a lot of top end Italian restaurants near our home so our standards are pretty high. This would be a "one and done" if located near us. The salad while cold was lettuce with a couple of carrot sticks and a ring of red onion. It had way too much dressing (that actually tasted OK--just too much). My wife and I had a chicken dish that was hot and tasted OK but nothing special. Side pasta with red sauce was at best average, Friends had lasagna and fettuccini Alfredo which they said was OK as well. Overall, not bad but not a place I would return to.

Saturday night, poor service. My son got waters and glasses for the children as they were thirsty from the walk. The veal piccata was "ok" but even the 9 year old food critic thought the Alfredo was inferior and very soupy. The filet mignon and veggies were really good. Salad bar average. long wait for food even after we were able to find a waiter to order.

Absolutely great food for the price. Try the linguine pescatora. The sauce is tremendous. Nice casual comfortable atmosphere. Very friendly folks. Have gone twice while in San Anton. Seafood was cooked very well not overcooked like so many do.

the ambiance at this restaurant will not please everyone--very eclectic, a bit dark, but certainly unique and comfortable enough. The food can vary but the pizza is always a safe bet. We like to go on a Friday or Saturday night to listen to Francois de Berenx play the keyboard while we eat and enjoy a nice glass of wine. Great repertoire and absolutely charming man, traveled the world and great sense of humor, as you'll find when he stops by your table. He is amused but delighted to receive well-deserved tips. Overall a pleasant evening (and we always find parking right across the street).

We wandered in for a late night snack and there was only one other customer in the place. We didn't want to keep the staff late but the nice young waiter insisted on seating us. We only had a pizza (thin crust, very good) and a bottle of wine. Fantastic service, good food. Would definitely recommend.

We have been eating at this restaurant for over ten years. Our experience is outstanding. The food, service and total the environment is the best in San Antonio. It's a family owned and operated with the all traditional Italian amenities. We celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary with our family. The food and service to our group was without question, a totally great experience. I would suggest that when in San Antonio and you want the best in Italian food, you must eat here. On the weekends the piano player provides the best of music.

Large Italian place with charm and the most attentive staff I've ever encountered. Manny, our server, was so attentive, polite and personable. Everyone there made you feel right at home and I would go back in a heartbeat just to have that level of service. Had a Peroni (beer) and some mussels. Very good. The bread brought to the table was also great and would compliment many meals on the menu.

What a wonderful restaurant! While visiting relatives in San Antonio, this was a nice option after days of eating Tex-mex. We had the Garden of Eve pizza - with artichoke hearts, spinach, roasted pine nuts and garlic - and it was delicious. The best pizza I have had in awhile. So many things on the menu I would love to try. We will have to make sure we add this place to our list of favorites for our next trip.

My wife and I were on a 16 day vacation to San Antonio and we ate at this restaurant twice. Both times the meal was great as well as our waiter. On the 2nd visit both owners came and talked to us and thanked us for eating there. They also both wish us a safe trip back to Wisconsin. We will definetly go back there to eat the next time we are in San Antoino. I love everything about the restaurant from the atmosphere to the food and the freindly wait staff that started with the hostess who still remembered us from 2 years ago when we were down in San Antonio. The hostess had remembered that we were from Wisconsin, which I could not beleived. This is a restaurant in a big city but treats you like you are afreind of the family.

Don't miss this opportunity! We remembered a delicious meal here two years ago and looked forward to coming back. We were definitely pleased. Although the restaurant was very quiet, our waiter was very attentive and had good suggestions. My husband had the lasagna with fresh homemade pasta. The sauce was very flavorful and not drowned in garlic or tomatoes. My chicken Romano with vegetables was delicious! It was very difficult to stop eating ( the portions are very generous). Desserts of creme brûlée "to die for" & wonderful tiramisu!

Good food, friendly servive, very modest prices; flexibility on menu; 10 minute walk from Marriott hotel. Couldn’t be happier!

Went there again after taking a cooking class there a year ago. Food was awesome. We went to Italy in November and enjoyed this reminder. Scallops were huge, Stuffed Flounder just as good as I remember from Luigi's. Great wait staff. Fun evening for a weekday night.

We had a great dinner tonight. My husband and I each had a salad- house and caprese. The caprese was excellent, the house was typical. Our boys had the kids spaghetti and meatballs- they loved it. We shared the chicken parmigiana which was enough for 2 people. Our waiter was excellent- attentive and funny. This is our second time here and will definitely return. Prices are reasonable.

Stop in after a Sunday walk service was good food was great definitely family-oriented wonderful atmosphere

Away from the crowded Riverwalk restaurants, this small family owned restaurant off the beaten path was a gem to find. Decor was circa 1970s, we love that! Friendly staff, our waiter, Bernard, was amazing! Piano player and his assistant kept the mood music flowing. Food was good, with there being two vegans in the family we are needy in food prep. They accommodated us well. Our son had shrimp Alfredo, he is not the vegan! I had pasta primavera and my husband had arrabbiata. Salad bar was deceiving, only one plate per person. Otherwise loved it!

All prepared for the wonderful Mexican food that SA is famous for I have to admit my favorite meal was here. Very friendly staff.
