Excellent food and atmosphere

By Brenna77 |

Step into fountain area & most tables are here (outdoors). We had mushroom risotto and lobster ravioli on a cool evening. Excellent- wish we could try much more of the menu, but we were only there in Seattle a short time. We noticed an extensive menu of Italian & Sicilian dishes. Authentic food.

A quiet corner in Belltown

By PDXMichael B |

It was our first visit to Seattle in 12 years and we realized we were staying near an Italian restaurant we’d stumbled upon in Belltown on that earlier visit. I'm sure many people walk past as the restaurant appears like a private courtyard belonging to an apartment block. We are glad we went back – the food was very good (particularly my wife’s Veal Marsala) and the service excellent. I was a little disappointed that for a Sicilian restaurant there was nothing more adventurous than Nero d’Avola in red wine (such as Nerello Mascalese or Frappato), but there was a lovely Grillo white available by the glass. Each time we ate in the courtyard so cannot comment on the interior. On a warm evening (September 9) it was very romantic in the courtyard.

Very nice restaurant

By WCS52 |

We had glasses of proseco and chianti, the contadina (spinach and eggplant) salad, a seasoned beef salad and a risotto primavera. And flourless chocolate cake. All wonderful. Very nice, charming service. Nice music. Nice courtyard that serves as a buffer to the coarseness of Belltown. Actually, kind of an oasis for grownups in Belltown. Not inexpensive, but worth it. We will be back!

Perfect dinners in Seattle

By LilBear175 |

Food, atmosphere and service were fantastic. We were Seattle for only 2 days. Came here the first night and loved it so much, we came back the second. Thanks Mario, Ray and rest of staff for 2 perfect evenings!

Cute Courtyard

By Erin619 |

We noticed this restaurant because of its courtyard. We had dined across the street the night previous and spotted the lights strung across a beautiful entryway. We were seated in the courtyard, which is actually the center area of an apartment building. Better than is sounds, a fountain/water feature and lighting distract from the idea that people are sitting one floor above with their windows open. Our server was personable and efficient, explaining the menu items to the table. There is a traditional Italian menu with little a variance in the daily menu. The food was good and cleanly presented. It was a nice experience, but we were not overwhelmed.

Would return here!!

By Linda W |

Loved the wine, piano music, eggplant and spinach appetizer, Cesar salad, veal salvia, chicken parmesan, and definitely the tiramisu. Mario, the owner, came out to visit us. Wonderful conversation. We learned he also made the tiramisu! The best we've ever had! We did definitely return here!

Family birthday dinner

Wonderful food and very accommodating to a large group, including young children. The servers were gracious and patient with us. This was a return visit.

Wonderful Italian in a warm atmosphere

By PatKong |

I found the Fontina Siciliana everything one could hope for from an Italian restaurant. It has a warm, intimate atmosphere, amazingly friendly and helpful staff; even Rodrigo, the proprietor, stopped by to greet us. And the food was superb; elegant and generous. The Caesar salad was crisp and fresh, not too heavily dressed; perfect. The antipasto plate was wonderful; full of cheeses and meats. Bruschetta was tasty and the main courses rich and filling. I had a tortellini in lemon pistachio sauce, which I loved. My only regret is that I don’t think we tipped well enough. Next time.

Find it!!!

This place is hard to see at night- but well worth the effort!!! Six of us had delicious bruschetta, and authentic seafood pastas. Delicious house select wines paired beautifully. All at a very reasonable price. A great neighborhood, home made Italian food experience!!!

Love the atmosphere!

By Lori M |

We've always wanted to try La Fontana after seeing their lovely outdoor seating area last summer. We had dinner this past weekend and were not disappointed. Although the weather didn't allow sitting outside, we enjoyed a wonderful meal in the dinning room. The pasta was fabulous and their chicken dishes were too. Without question some of the best Italian food we've eaten in the Seattle area. The service was great and there was a lovely lady playing the piano in the background. A truly wonderful experience all around. We've already made reservations for later this summer in hopes of being able to sit outside in their courtyard.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR DINING IN SEATTLE!

By cassaleen |

My daughter and I dined at La Fontana Sicilliana last night. It was our finest dining experience since we moved to Seattle 18 years ago. First of all, the ambiance from the picturesque courtyard to the exposed brick and antiques was so welcoming and beautiful…….you could not ask for anything more. Let me now concentrate on the most important aspect of our visit, THE FOOD! Marvelous.....Quality is superb.........Presentation splendid. Every bite was delicious and made with the freshest ingredients. The tossed green salad, Chicken Marsala and the potatoes were amazing. Mario and his staff were warm and welcoming. Our only regret is that we did not discover this treasure when we first moved here. However, I can assure all of you, we will be coming back often. Highly recommend it. It is the very best.

Best flourless chocolate cake I've ever had!

By Andy Z |

I had dinner there with friends. Our meal was delicious, the service was great, the atmosphere cozy, and dessert divine! I can't wait to go back!

Excellent Sicilian Restaurant

By Moshe D |

A quaint Sicilian restaurant with excellent food and a romantic ambiance. You enter through a charming courtyard. The menu includes many tempting choices. We ordered three pastas, Tortellini with sautéed spinach and gorgonzola cheese, Cannelloni di Vitello and linguini pasta with pieces of smoked salmon in a lemon cream sauce. They were all outstanding with wonderful flavors. We also had the Veal Scaloppini with parmesan cheese, tomato sauce and melted mozzarella and the Veal Scaloppini in Marsala wine and mushroom sauce. Both were tender and tasty, but not as outstanding as the pasta. The Tiramisu dessert was excellent, the Chocolate brownie dessert was a little too hard. We had a 2005 Toscana wine with dinner that was outstanding (for a reasonable $36). There was only one other family in our dining room on a Sunday evening. Service was good and timely. Overall an excellent Sicilian restaurant. Highly recommended.

Great first impression; would definitely go back

By Jim L |

My friends and I met for an early, pre-movie dinner, and we enjoyed a nice meal. Although we couldn’t linger due to time constraints, we were able to relax over a couple courses and a little bit of wine (note: unfortunately, there is no liquor served other than beer and wine). The staff was friendly, and the décor was reminiscent of a homey dining room, warm with lots of wood. It could be a good romantic vibe if you have the right company. The menu is fairly balanced between antipasti, pasta, risotto, fish and meats. I would have been happy with any one of several entrées that caught my eye. I selected the Dentice alla Siciliana, which was a red snapper fillet with [thankfully] just the right amount of capers and olives. Excellent. I would love to come back here during a warmer month and dine outside next to the fountain.

A Most Lovely Meal

By Mahoo95 |

Our party of 12 family members had a most lovely meal. The 'special' antipasti platter was excellent. The spaghetti was very good, but the smokiness of the eggplant could have been softer. The evening's chef special chicken dinner was very tasty, but the chicken breast could have been more tender. The cannelloni, tortellini, other chicken, and many pasta dishes were excellent. We tried half the dessert offerings...tiramisu was "to die for", the chocolate brownie was excellent, and the flan was very good, but not as tender as my wife's flan. We would love to return and try some of the risotto dishes and veal scaloppine. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and service was prompt. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Good Italian Food

By Gardoz |

This is an upscale Itaian eatery. Food was very good as was the service. My wife had the risotto with shrimp which she raved about, and I had the Veal Marsala whish was also very good. Would recommed for couples or friends. Also has outside seating in a sunken garden.

A little taste of Sicily

By josiehar |

We visited this smart and attractive restaurant in the downtown for an evening meal October 2015, A reasonable menu was matched by professional staff. The food was authentic Sicilian in taste, but the size of the servings was a little disappointing, and more attention was paid to presentation. We felt prices were over-expensive for the portions given.

Charming bit of Sicily

By Goosie L |

The setting is lovely, hidden on a Belltown side street. The central fountain courtyard and cozy interior makes one feel like one is in Italy. The host was accommodating, the service excellent and the food a wine were very good. The bruschetta was prepared to perfection just the right balance of fresh tomatoes, garlic and oil on superb Italian bread. I had the Risotto di Mare with prawns, calamari and small scallops which I rate A. My companion had ravioli and licked her plate clean. The ambiance is inviting having dinner there makes for a very, very pleasant evening.

Mamma mia!

By Courtney D |

I recommend the red snapper for fish lovers! It was fresh and topped with capers, olives and tomato sauce. Delicious.

Consistent and Tasty

By Tricia J |

I agree that the style is out-dated and the place doesn't look fancy but the food is always amazing! My husband and I always bring guests here and everyone enjoys their meals. I order the cheese ravioli in tomato marscarpone sauce. HINT: anything in their tomato marscarpone sauce will be incredible! We would go to this restaurant much more often if it was a bit cheaper. The average entree is about $20.

Our first Seattle sit down dinner

By PeterHarg |

A wonderful dinner, very good service, excellent tiramisu. A great find in our Belltown neighborhood.

Great family-run Italian restaurant!

By FunkyMan3333 |

Wow! Absolutely fantastic Italian food! We arrived as a group of 6 to this small family-owned restaurant in an old house. The ambiance is classy and quaint, with friendly servers. The food was served promptly, and was absolutely fantastic. I had the bruschetta and prawn fettuccine with spicy marinara - outstanding flavours and very fresh pasta. The cannoli was also amazing! Everyone else also loved their meals. There was a good wine selection, and we were happy with the bottle we got (the house sauvignon blanc). The only hiccup came with the bill - we ordered a $40 bottle of wine but were charged $50 because the waiter came out with a 1L bottle instead of 750mL (without asking us). This was quickly corrected by the owner, and he was very gracious about it. Overall, a very nice experience on our trip to Seattle!

Fine Cuisine without Pretensions

By BAKSPIN |

Recommended by our hotel concierge, this small Italian restaurant located on a side street left us happily satiated. My homemade pasta dish with marinara sauce and fresh scallops was a revelation and my husband's Italian variation on chicken corden bleu in a delicate brandy sauce melted in the mouth...simplicity and perfection all at once. If particularly lucky, one could have come upon such a classic, bistro walking down a side street in Palermo. The inviting outside patio with fountain beckoned during warm weather. (The percussive music was the only discordant note. I asked he put on the Italian opera playlist and he did so.)

Wonderful authentic food, friendly owner and knowledgeable waitstaff.

By Theodore W |

It is a smallish, personal, two-room, cozy bistro. Wines are plentiful and their descriptions are right on. Their food is truly authentic (having been to Italy several times) and very tasty. Mario, the owner, is personable and efficient as are the servers. They describe their specials well, and what we've had has been interesting and good. In the warm weather (but this IS Seattle) they serve outdoors around a fountain. (Wonder where they got their name?). We've eaten there many times over the years of living nearby. The location is in the middle of a block in Belltown - not the easiest to find, but well worth it.

Rudest restaurant I’ve ever stepped foot in to not even eat there

By Karlie F |

I’d leave zero stars if I could. We are from out of town first night here wanted to check how long the wait was. The host was the rudest person I’ve ever met. We waited 10 minutes to even find out how long the wait was and when the host came. A guy in a grey sweatshirt and moustache said “ we’re fully booked “ and immediately turned away and started speaking to other people like we were a pile of steaming dog poo. Never will I support a company like that. Not to play those cards but we aren’t broke people or dressed like so. Really just disgusted me.

Excellent but expensive - for a special occasion only!

By Mish_the_Fish |

The ravioli pesto reminded us of a restaurant in Positano where you just wanted to lick the plate. But then so did the prices. No salad included and high priced pasta. But it was a 40th anniversary celebration so who cares?

La Fontana Siciliana: Belltown's Authentic Sicilian Gem

By @lawyer.traveler.dreamer |

Check my IG lawyer.traveler.dreamer for more pictures and videos of our dining experience. La Fontana Siciliana is a Belltown restaurant offering genuine Sicilian cuisine in a welcoming setting. This Italian eatery is perfect for intimate dinners or larger gatherings, including potential venues for small weddings or family celebrations. We enjoyed a recent meal there and had the pleasure of meeting Rodrigo, the owner who took over two and a half years ago. His passion for Sicilian food is evident in every dish. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a versatile atmosphere. Our meal began with the flavorful melanzane a la parmigiana and a refreshing spinach soup. For our main course, we savored the tortellini cefalu, fettuccine ai funghi, and fettuccine al pesto, all cooked with high-quality ingredient were extremely delicious. The portions were generous, leaving us satisfied but not overly full. To finish, we indulged in the house-made tiramisu and limoncello panna cotta. The tiramisu was a particular standout, beautifully presented in a way that felt almost like a birthday surprise (and they didn’t know mine was just a few days away!). La Fontana Siciliana is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sicilian food in Seattle. Its inviting atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service make it a Belltown favorite. We will definitely go back! 🤩

An Italian gem tucked away...Seek it out!

By fun_questr |

The perfect little patio was entirely charming and the staff welcoming and professional. The eggplant melanzana was Literally the best thing I've eaten in Years!! We both had specials, so I would suggest leaning into whatever the chef is promoting as they were both Incredible.

Always Amazing

By Mark L |

The food and atmosphere are always top notch. Mario sets the example for how hard work and passion in the restaurant business pay off! We love this restaurant!

Excellent food and personable staff!

La Fontana Siciliana is a small quint place to eat! The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and courtious. We love to eat here!

Amazing meal!

By wearymom3 |

Took my husband and middle son for a Father's Day celebration. Son had suggested this restaurant - we were getting tired of the same old steak places, and Italian sounded good. We were not disappointed! We were seated in the courtyard - a cozy setting. Our waiter was courteous and attentive - very thick Italian accent. I wish I would have gotten his name. We wanted a Chianti, and he suggested one from Banfi, with a smooth and mellow taste. We started with salads - I chose the Caesar with homemade dressing, hubby chose the special with shaved beef and Parmesan, son ordered the house salad with eggplant - all were delicious! As an appetizer we ordered the Bruchetta - very good. My entree was cheese tortellini with Gorgonzola cheese and spinach, a creamy and I am sure, low calorie dish. Hubby and son had the special - pasta with halibut and olives. For dessert - do NOT pass on dessert - we shared a flour-less chocolate cake and a tiramisu. Definitely a place we would like to come back to!

Terrific Place To Go With Friends!

By misopiso88 |

We were looking for a nice downtown restaurant that wasn't too loud so we could have a relaxing dinner with friends.....La Fontana Siciliana was the perfect choice! Nice people, delicious food and wonderful ambiance. Try the caprese with oranges!!! Highly recommend if you are nearby.

Nice local Italian spot

By Ken D |

Found this place via tripadvisor and ate there as it was within 2 miles from our hotel. It is a small little local Italian place with about 4-5 tables inside and a little more than that outside. There is another larger room which does not appear to be in regular use. I found the food to be good. Nothing to rave about but certainly a satisfying Italian meal. The menu had a nice selection of pasta and meats. Waiter was friendly and provided good service.

Another lovely dinner here

By Bearwife |

We really like this restaurant, not least because it radiates true Italian hospitality. This time we were running late for our dinner reservation - we called and they could not have been nicer. Our service staff, as usual, were all Italian, complete with charming accents. The food was, again, lovely - my only criticism is that my otherwise fabulous pasta was a bit overcooked. The wine menu is impressive. This time we had the Caesar salad and contadina as appetizers and the tortellini and saffron linguine as our main course. This is just a special place, with a romantic vibe, and we will certainly be back.

Hidden gem in downtown Seattle. . .Sheer delight!

By Kathleen L |

We had an easy walk from Inn at the Market, our downtown hotel to La Fontana in Belltown. The center courtyard adorned with a fountain sets the stage for a magical evening. Owner Mario will guide you through the menu selections with good wine pairing. Each of us were delighted with what we ordered -every bite was delicious. Food was very good, graciously served and presented. Wine list was interesting and diverse, and comfortable price points. How could we have missed this before? Booked on Open Table from Hawaii and so glad we did. Will certainly return. By the way Tiramisu was heavenly, rated as best in Seattle. . Aloha and Mahalo nui loa, Mario! Don't miss this gem when in downtown Seattle.

Charming, delicious, pricey

By yotravelmama |

The first two adjectives I use above are really accurate...it's a lovely place with a European flair as you stroll in through the arches, met with a smooth stone fountain (too bad about the green hoses and the big gray tarp hanging around marring an otherwise beautiful setting, but folks live in this apt. building no doubt, so maybe utilitarian has to rule....the plantings kinda make up for it). Brick walls inside, and some sumptuous decor get you in a tasty mood. In an Italian restaurant I've got to appreciate that our waiter was Italian (I assume, close enough), and he was the right touch of competent with our questions, involved with our decisions, but not hovering. The husband and I had the black linguini with smoked salmon and lemon cream, and the 'wild' mushroom fettucine with cream and truffle oil. They were both truly delicious dishes, he and I kept going back and forth between the other's bowl, moaning, embarassing the kids, trying to suck the marrow out of the flavors, which were yum yum. Bright lemon, full cream, perfect balance of truffle oil, rich brown gravy like a Marsala cream. The pastas are delicate, made in-house....lovely. The black linguine reportedly gains it's color from squid ink, yet had none of that off-feltpen/iodine flavor that marks squid ink. OK.... Having said that, his was short on the smoked salmon and what was there was like macerated lox. My 'beef' with mushroom pastas showed up again here with my pasta....another restaurant that states 'wild mushrooms' and then puts in mostly white buttons, with a few lacy others. That makes me kinda mad. Call me crazy, but if I'm paying $22 for some noodles with mushrooms and cream sauce, I want the good stuff they say I'm gonna get, not the stuff I put in my morning veggie omelet. At best, that's misleading advertising. At worst, don't get me started. Stop doing that, restauranteurs....it's a nasty, deceiving habit. (You know who I'm talking about, Quinault Lodge Dining Room!) My son, whose 17th birthday we were celebrating, had the pollo ai formaggi.... chicken breast with four cheeses and red sauce. Being a non-chicken eater, I didn't try the whole package, but the red sauce was especially bright, fresh and alive. Obvious skill in the sauce. I want to make that sauce. He was happy. My 13 year old daughter had the appetizer bruschetta and the caesar salad for her meal. She seemed content with it, and the bruschetta was again so tasty----the flavors seemed more than the sum of their parts---also a light dish since there seemed to be no cheese on it. But really pricey at ten bucks for four modest pieces. The Caesar was one of those---what is it called....constructed? deconstructed?---the whole head of romaine with a thick stripe of dressing and some croutons dotting the plate. The dressing was delirious delish, but again....ten bucks for this was just way outside OK. But the reason I didn't state unequivocally above that the third adjective (pricey) was accurate, is that we live in Olympia, an hour south of Seattle, kind of a dining backwater, and we just might not be used to the prices in Seattle. Since we don't get really GREAT food down here much, what DOES it really cost? But we have eaten much in Seattle, and I still think you'd need to change the prices of the bruschetta and Caesar, add more wild mushrooms and smoked salmon, and for god's sake (if not just for the human's eating here) adjust your wine by the glass prices. $9 for a glass of the house chardonnay schlock that my husband had, and the same price for the Santa Rita Sauv Blanc, (which is a lovely little inexpensive wine) which doesn't cost that much in the store for a BOTTLE...ahem, cough-cough, c'mon. Also a few more bottles with a more reasonable price tag would have had us ordering a bottle rather than glass, which would have been more money for the house in our case....since we stopped at one glass each after sampling what the house thought they could sell for $9. I know this has been tedious....I'm sorry. Eating out is such a multi-faceted experience, full of happiness and pitfall. Thanks for reading.....

Relaxed and delicious

By Rebeccagraves |

From the first step leaving the bustling street, through the charming courtyard and into the quiet dining room we felt transported. The waiter was both helpful and appropriately attentive, suggesting wonderful options then leaving us to enjoy. The atmosphere feels like enjoying a meal in a well appointed dining room of someone's home, not like a restaurant in a busy tourist district. It is intimate and relaxed. The waiter speaks with thickly Italian accented English (he is from Palermo) and confidently suggested the daily special for me and the fetuccini for my husband. The food was spectacular and the pricing moderate, especially considering the location. We will recommend this to friends who live in town.

Excellent Italian

By ButchBellingham_WA |

It's been years since we've been here but they haven't lost their touch even after the lockdown. We were there this past Saturday with a party of 8 celebrating our granddaughter's college selection. I had the Tortellini with meat sauce and imported cheeses. Outstanding. The dish came to the table piping hot. The portion was very generous and I could barely finish it. Our waiter's name was Ray and he did a tremendous job with our party. No one at the table had a single complaint. It was a great evening.

Ourdoor Dining in Seattle

By Don G |

My wife and I had a great time enjoying dinner on their patio next to the fountain. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was great.

Worth a visit

By rvhfl |

Nice little Italian restaurant with cozy decor and excellent service. We stopped early on a rainy Monday evening, so were one of just a few diners in the house. Our waiter was very attentive and made several recommendations, but we found the entrees to be tasty, but just average overall by comparison to our other favorite Italian eateries. Canoli and Italian coffee for dessert were excellent.

So delicious!

By Dian C |

Amazing Italian food. Charming location and wait staff. The wine selection is also incredible and the staff know there stuff. What a gem!

My FAVORITE restaurant in Seattle!

By JimandJoAnnS |

Love everything about this place...the food makes me cry it is so good. The wait staff are amazing. Will ALWAYS return! TRY THE SPECIALS!

Wow!

By MoscowInIdaho |

Would go again. I loved it. This was my order: "Red or pesto sauce, no veal, surprise me." My waiter said "grazie" What I got was not on the menu and was fabulous. It was like the movie "the big night". Great food, good friends, ambiance. We ate in the restaurants courtyard by the fountain under the trees with sparkle lights. Highly recommended!

Outstanding.

By Paul W |

Great food. Perfect service. The 18 year old balsamic on the salad was outstanding. Beautiful setting in the courtyard.

All-around enjoyable

By Zach S |

Very nice to eat outside in the courtyard. Food matched the relaxed atmosphere. Service was solid. Best Italian I had in Seattle after living there about a year.

Great food in a beautiful setting

By KVS1960 |

We went there on a summer evening and got a table near the outdoor fountain. It was a perfect romantic setting. We ordered Bruschetta, Caprese Salad, and Pizza. Each of the dish was perfect. And so was the Rose wine we had. Reasonably priced, one of the best meals on our trip to Seattle.

Charming and good

By SkykomishBob |

Even on a cold, rainy day entering through the charming courtyard past the Fontana was a great beginning. I was surprised such a well rated place would be nearly empty at noon of a Thursday, but there was only one couple dining in the six table dining area. There are other dining rooms I didn't see, but this small, warm room has the "local Italian bistro" feel I very much enjoy. Old, dark wood tables & chairs, each of a slightly different design, but so similar one had to be thinking about it to notice. One reason I enjoy dining alone is I'm more apt to notice things like this and the small round place-mats with the three-legged Sicilian "trinacria" symbol representing the three points of the that very triangular island. The other couple was speaking German together but the man spoke well accented Italian with the waiter. The lunch menu contained all traditional dishes. In comparison to other so-called authentic "Italian" restaurants in the US in my experience (as opposed to chain faux Italian like Olive Garden et. al,), my spaghetti Norma was maybe average, and the bread was course and a bit odd, as if it had been made from millet or something different and was not particularly pleasing to me. As a rule I prefer peasant breads to "white" bread, but not this one. I've never been to Sicily, so maybe this is an authentic bread I've just never had before. The pasta was slightly over cooked, the eggplant sauce had been simmering to long there remained no eggplant taste or texture worth noting. It was tasty and quite enjoyable as a red-sauce pasta course, but not like other good spaghetti Normas of memory. I almost ordered the risotto ai funghi (I suspect the menu was meant to read "al" instead of ai) and I'm sorry I didn't. I think this place is capable of making very good Italian dishes, I just didn't get one during this visit. I do plan to eat here again next time I'm in Seattle, as the place itself and the service and the general style was extremely appealing. The total experience was very good, despite being less than my expectations. The wine list was odd in that all ten or so by the glass offerings were priced at $9, including a Berringer White Zin, which certainly seems a brutal mark-up. Maybe they figure anyone who drinks it deserves to pay that much for it... My Argentine Carmenere was lovely and at $9 for a somewhat smallish poor didn't seem outrageous, though hardly a bargain either. Being on Blanchard, between 1st. & 2nd. in the ride-free zone there must be a dozen bus routes that all take you within a block whether coming from downtown or Seattle Center.

Excellent Romantic Gem With Authentic Itallian Food

By twinsmom070 |

Very authentic food. All the flavors were to die for. The setting was beautifully cozy and very romantic. We are planning on going back in the summer so we can try the outdoor seating. Service was outstanding and they explained everything very well. We tried the eggplant salad and couldn't believe the medley of tastes that hit our mouths. I tried the veal with a red sauce and was astounded at how well it tasted-delicious! Husband had the special-a seafood medley that he loved. And the dessert melted in our mouths. We'll be back!! Even met the owner, Mario Fuenzalida, who checked on us at the table. It's hard to give 5 stars anymore, but they deserve it. *We left our children at home with a sitter. This place is more for couples.

Mamma Mia

By Winkie51 |

LA Fontana is a winner!!! It is a small restaurant and very European. We truly felt like we were in an Italian farmhouse. All of our dinners were spectacular. My risotto with shrimp and scallops was amazing. The veal marsala and chicken were also great as well as the salad. Our desserts were decadent. Do not miss this restaurant. What a gem!!!!

Probably Best In House

By Philip G |

With a lovely courtyard, La Fontana Siciliana sits a few blocks south of our apartment. Last night, we tried LFS for the first time, doing take out. Take out is often difficult for kitchens not used to preparing meals to go. It is a “whole new ballgame,” for many restaurants, becoming prolific due to Covid. Some great kitchens haven’t mastered the art of take out. My assumption is La Fontana Siciliana’s food would taste infinitely better if we were willing to risk dining in that charming courtyard. Our Caesar Salads were very good, tasty and restaurant elegant, begging to be served on a plate rather than a bowl. My veal parmigiana was odd, the pounded veal not breaded. It was the veal you would taste in a piccata. Every veal parmigiana I have had in the past was breaded. The piquant tomato sauce was good, but definitively over powering. It was a tasty, but not what I would want for a veal parmigiana. Sicily is renown for its seafood pasta dishes. A pasta seafood dish I had at Giovanni’s in Mondello, outside of Palermo, will forever be one of my best meals. Unfortunately, the squid ink linguine with calamari and scallops at LFS was overwhelmed by that same piquant tomato sauce. It was difficult for my taste buds to discern the flavor of the seafood or the taste of the pasta. I am hoping the over saucing was due to the complications of doing take out. All the flavors were good at La Fontana Siciliana, but refinement was lost on our food. We will try it again one day, but only in house.

Memorable experience!

By AlexandreF |

We celebrated our anniversary and were extremely impressed with La Fontana Siciliana. Great ambience, amazing food, large wine selection, and delicious dessert. The staff were extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and made great recommendations. They made us feel welcomed and made sure we had an amazing experience. We highly recommend it!

Quiet, elegant restaurant in Belltown

By Philip D |

We ate here on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant was not crowded and, best of all, not noisy! We split an appetizer, each had a pasta dish, and each enjoyed a small dessert. The waiter was polite and responsive but didn't hover. Since we speak Italian, we asked where he was from. He said Palermo, so we spent the evening speaking Italian. The quality of the food was excellent, the menu interesting. If I have one complaint, it is that only a small fractions of the wines on the list were from Sicily, but most were Italian and of high quality. Highly recommended.

Bella e Buona

By Mabcola |

We overnighted in Seattle before our cruise to Alasa. La Fontana Sicilana was a personal favorite of a staff member of the Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel. She made a reservation for us. It was a delghtful experience. The charming Sicilian born owner enhanced our experience. Try the Pollo al Formaggio, similar the classic parmigiana but lighter and fabulous. The pasta is homemade. The fettuccine al fungi was superb. The wine list is not extensive but good. The ambience is beautiful. The courtyard and fountain oh so very romantic . The interior small but very delightful.

A place to enjoy a summer evening

By Chescat5 |

We had a leisurely dinner in the courtyard on a hot day as the evening cooled. We could have been in Italy. Excellent bread. My wife and I each had two appetizers and were very happy with all four dishes. The star for me was a calamari with pesto. Baby calamari cooked to tenderness and tossed in a light pesto and served over a bed of greens. It all melted in the mouth. Our friend and host had veal scallopini that looked delicate and tender--he loved it--he goes there often and that is his favorite. Lemon gelato served in a scooped out lemon for dessert was excellent--if you have it, the lemon skin is very edible snd makes the dish more interesting if you eat some of it along with the gelato--and it is enough for two.

Best Seattle dining experience ever.

By DrOfWaves |

Both my wife and I give La Fontana our highest recommendation. Great food, excellent service, and romantic atmosphere. Enjoy.

Delicious italian

By Jenvincent |

We went to La Fontana late on a Tuesday night. The food was delicious, the service extremely tasteful, and there was a nice quiet atmosphere. We can highly recommend the insalata caprese with mozzarella, orange and basil, and there was an excquisite pasta special with tomato eggplant, scallops , calamari and shrimp. The food was really delicious.

Perfect in every way

Exceptional food and service. The new owners have preserved the spirit and quality of food that has made this place such a gem. They still have their homemade pasta. And the homemade limoncello panna cotta was beyond belief. Highly recommend for when you have that Italian craving with a rustic ambiance.

Lovely downtown italian restaurant

By DolomiteMerc |

We had the best spinach soup and spaghetti with eggplant. I am usually not a big fan of spaghetti or eggplant, but the sauce was so fresh that I could not stop eating. We only wish that the portion sizes were bigger for the price, although i am told California is more expensive for food. Great dessert selection.

Superb

Was here on a girls night out. Loved it. We had canoli and chicken pasta along with a few more dishes. Trust me it was finger licking delicious. It was authentic italian food. The ambience and decor adds to the feel. The staff is courteous and really friendly. The deinks..food everything was good. Highly recommend this place if ur visiting seattle and want to try italian food.

Delightful evening!

By Carol R |

as a family of 7 adults, we enjoyed a delightful evening, complete with delicious food, paired wines, and background piano music. Such an amazing evening - we will definitely return here for authentic Sicilian food and quaint atmosphere!

Ambiance and excellent food

We selected this restaurant from the list of tripadvisor and tourned out as an excellent place with ambiance and excellent food. We were attended by Mario, very professional and courteous o

What a great find!

By GeorgiaBill |

Really scratched our head trying to find something other than oysters and seafood. We decided on italian, which meant many more choices. We picked La Fontana because of it's outdoor courtyard and proximity to our hotel. What a great meal - which we both felt reminded us of dining al fresco in Italy. Had the cold marinated calamari in pesto - just great. Then veal part and chicken fromaggio. Both were outstanding and well prepared. The ingredients seemed to be of very high quality and selection...down to the absolutely perfectly placed leaves of bibb lettuce on the salad. We dined in the outdoor courtyard next to a small pool/fountain. This was an oasis next to the craziness down the street at the market. Our server Luke was very attentive, but gave us space to enjoy the meal. Very reasonable and well selected wine list; we had the Sicilian wine Nero d'avola.

Great food and atmosphere

By entboy2013 |

A local told us about this place and happy they did. It's a small place with great food and service. Fabio was a great waiter and suggest a great wine. We will be back!

Perfecto

By Richard W |

We popped in on a whim on a Wednesday night. We were seated in the courtyard by the fountain. Very pleasant. We chose to go with all the specials. First was a salad, then a gnocchi with pesto and then a chicken dish with grapes and asparagus. Each course better than the last. Service was impeccable. We truly felt taken care of by our gracious hosts. Oh yes. We of course had the tiramisu to finish. Yum.

Charming and romantic

By JohnBreitweiser |

I've walked by this place on numerous occasions and finally had the opportunity to try it. We were four people coming from first Thursday Art Walk. This is a very charming and romantic place. Small lamps on the table give off a low light perfect for a couple out on a date. A traditional, some might say old fashioned menu of recognizable Italian dishes. We shared a sauteed escarole appetizer that was cooked perfectly and rarely seen on menus any more. I had the Tortellini Gorgonzola with spinach and pine nuts, it was served on a large plate and was absolutely delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well and we finished with a shared Lemoncello Pana Cotta. This is not a cheap restaurant, some might say over priced.

Great Italian food and romantic restaurant!

By 157KellyS |

I purchased a Groupon for this restaurant for my visit in Seattle and didn't know what to expect. It exceeded my expectations. Romantic ambiance inside and pretty courtyard fountain outside. The food was fabulous! We ordered mushroom soup and bruschetta for an appetizer which was the best I've ever tasted, and the pasta we ordered was also very good. Our waiter was very friendly and provided great service. This would be a great place to take a date. If I lived in Seattle this would definately be one of my favorite restaurants.

A relaxing setting, decent service, average food, expensive.

By Ed M |

I guess when you sit down in an Italian restaurant in Westlake you should expect to drop $80 per person, but the tab was a bit of a shock anyway. Everything was good enough, and nothing was outstanding. the $55 Chianti was maybe a $7 bottom shelf wine, and we split the one bottle among 6 of us. One appetizer each, an average entree, and a small dessert each and we were done. And very unique for an Italian restaurant, I almost felt like going out to eat more afterward. the waiter was friendly and competent and the experience was pleasant, but for the cost I'd head elsewhere if I were in the neighborhood again.

Perfect setting but mediocre menu

By 51cats1967 |

Our concierge recommending the restaurant as a dining experience where you could carry on a conversation in a beautiful outdoor patio setting, which it was. Unfortunately, either the waiter listened to what we like in pasta dishes and chose to ignore the information because there was no attempt to say we can do that! It was only a request to have some spice or heat in the dishes. The spicy prawns were not and the tortellini with meat was over done and uninspired. Great ambiance, but indifferent waiter took away from the experience.

tasty and romantic spot

By QueenBiggyD |

Pretty tasty food. Did not find it any more expensive then most fancy dining experiences in Seattle. Bruchetta was excellent as was the truffle and mushroom pasta and the chicken Marsala. Lovely courtyard to sit in and enjoy your wine. Would definitely go back.

A hidden gem

By Andrew B |

Unlike other Italian restaurants in downtown Seattle, La Fontana serves great food without the attitude, prices, or crowds. I love the pasta dishes, but the antipasti and secondi are also consistently good. The space is charming and intimate, and if it's warm enough outside, the tables around the fountain in the courtyard are fabulous. Service is friendly, and food is affordably priced.

Italian and charming

By Mary Ellen s |

6 of us had an excellent diner here. Food was very good, staff were very Italian and charming, atmosphere was quiet to allow for conversation. One of our party was celebrating her birthday, a call a couple hours n advance insured we had a small cake brought to the table, and the piano player led the rest of the guests in "happy birthday". It was a delightful evening- it had been several years since I had visited LA Fontana and I was glad to have returned

A little touch of Italy and Greenwich Village in one place!

By Peter C |

This is a charming restaurant in the heart of Belltown in downtown Seattle. If you happen to dine in the outdoor courtyard you have a sense of being in a small town in Italy and/or Greenwich Village in NYC. This restaurant has been here for well over a decade +. I've dined here several times over the years and always walk away very pleased. Their signature dish, chicken Marsala is delicious. Risotto? Just okay as it is in most restaurants. In my opinion risotto is best made at home so you control the cooking method from start to finish. It's still worth trying. If you dine indoors, it too is charming with low intimate lighting and enchanting decor. The service is too notch. The food well above average. The chef is from Sicily so he knows how to cook. A great date night spot or a place to take out of town company.

Unique Place For Italian Food

By IslandGuy03 |

We stopped by on a warm Seattle evening in June for dinner and a glass of wine. The restaurant is pretty cool inside, it's like stepping into someone's house. There is also a nice little courtyard if you would like to eat outside. We chose to sit inside but maybe should have been out. It was warm inside, I don't think they have air conditioning, if they did it was off. The food was very good but a little pricey for the portions you get. They serve only wine and maybe beer, no bar. The service was good.

Large Party for Dinner

By greg m |

Went there with 8 people from my work and met up with the owner of the restaurant. I was there last year and had a great experience so we chose to go there again and my guests were impressed. The owner came out and asked us what we wanted and he suggested a great menu of appetizers and wine. What a relief that he was on top of what we wanted. He came to the table and explained all of our options and meal choices. My party was very impressed that we had such an exceptional service. The food was great and we were in a private area and enjoyed the ambiance.

So nice!

By TracyLynnv |

Wonderful.. the risotto was the best I've had. Ray our waiter was attentive and made our evening special. Highly recommend.

Just as I remembered

By Wynelle S |

I was staying in Belltown for concerts my first visit in 2022 and ate outside in the courtyard. I was struck then by the ambience, walking through the gate entering a world of white tablecloths and fountains. Everyone was friendly like I’d been there many times before. The owner had just purchased the restaurant, children were welcome, and the food was amazing. This time I’m in Seattle for an appointment, it’s too chilly to eat in the courtyard, but entering inside is like entering another world as well, and everyone is just as friendly and the food remains amazing. I had come in with linguine de mare on my mind and had that, but the special of lobster ravioli was a thought.

Tasty red sauce

By sugarray2 |

I had veal scolopinni with red sauce and mozzarella cheese. Delightful. Others had smoked salmon on black linguinni, and chicken. we all had great meals

Great family-run restaurant

By davidandrose1 |

First time here and a great local find just a few blocks from Pike Place. 12 tables in total, this seeimingly-family-run restaurant offered a great meal at reasonable pricing. Bruschetta was ok, nothing unexpected but the tomatoes, at the end of the season, seemed like semi-ripe imports vs overripe locals. Chicken marsala was very good, with a side of pasta accompanying. My Sicilian wife who teaches cooking classes throught her shrimp fra diavlo was among the best she’s had outside of Siciliy, with very large shrimp. Friendly service and solid food in a neighborhood setting. We’d return here again in a heartbeat.

Great little gem in downtown Seattle

By Travis S |

Great wine selection, intimate setting, and great food. We went on a Tuesday night, and it picked up around 730/8. I recommend if you have a party iof 4+ going earlier if possible. Our server, Liz, was extremely friendly and was happy to provide descriptions and suggestions (her recommendations were on point as well). If you enjoy good Italian and are in the Seattle area, this is a great option.

Good food but restaurant is outdated

By Odyssey55413 |

Food was ok, but the drinks, not too good, they should invest in a good bartender and for better drink options. The place is cute but could use some upgrades especially around the windows tables, you can see all the flies around it.

Great food, terrific atmosphere

By Steven J |

We gathered with friends the evening prior to departing together on an Alaskan cruise. This restaurant was highly rated, on-line and by our hotel staff. We received a reminder text about our reservation. The restaurant is in the middle of the block, in an enclosed courtyard. Our table was waiting for us, and we were greeted warmly by the owner. Jeff, our server, took good care of us, prompt and friendly. All of us enjoyed the entrees we ordered, prepared with care and well presented. The meal was enhanced by the setting in the courtyard on a pleasant clear evening. Will add this to our list of places to remember for the future.

Just ok

By Janis R |

We tried this place after reading very good reviews on both tripadvisor and open table. I have to say, having been to Italy several times (including Sicily) AND the fact that I'm 100% Italian, I had higher hopes based on the reviews. I tried the night special salad which was pear and prosciutto with Parma cheese. The pear was great, but the prosciutto was really bland, the cheese was so tasteless, I'm sure I've had Costco Parma with more flavor. The tomato sauce was just so plain, I was really shocked! That should be the easiest thing to do well. My husband had the veal cannelloni and he said the white sauce was also bland, the pesto was good. The portions are not big and the prices are. Our server was very present but not very attentive. The decor seemed really dated but we could overlook that if the food was outstanding. The most European thing about the place was the lack of ice... None in the water, although it was chilled and his coke had no ice either. It took two requests to get some.

Romantic Italian

By GwendR |

Call ahead, place very busy 7pm on. Delicious authentic Sicilian in a garden like setting unique to Seattle. Ray was our server and made the decision between tomato marscapone & creamy pesto easy by giving both. Thank you Ray for great service & recommendations.

A little piece of Italy in Downtown Seattle

By Carly C |

I love this place! I have never ever been disappointed in the food, the staff or the overall experience. The location is too cute, nestled into an older building and really has a romantic vibe. I absolutely LOVE the Calamari (Served cold, not fried and in pesto- tastes very fresh). All pasta dishes are amazing and I am usually tempted by their specials. The wait staff is kind, helpful and fun to be around. And on Saturday nights there is a piano player! I just came here for a birthday dinner and they were great! I am a HUGE fan.

Excellent food and fair prices

By Sherrala |

I picked this restaurant based on reviews, since the restaurant we initially wanted is closed on Sundays, which turned out to be a lucky turn of events for us. There were four of us, and we started with excellent bruschetta. I had the pollo ai formaggi, which was absolutely delicious and my husband had the meat ravioli with tomato mascarpone sauce, what I call "the sauce to die for" because one taste and you're in heaven. BEST SAUCE EVER. All our entrées were fabulous. Desserts were lackluster because we went with the non-homemade choices and they were meh, Lesson learned. Still giving this restaurant five out of five because that's how much we enjoyed it. If we could only get them to open a branch in Scottsdale. Sigh.

Dinner

By flamingogirl16 |

Quaint little hole in the wall restaurant with cute courtyard. I had the cheese tortellini with pistachio lemon cream sauce which was excellent. My husband had the red snapper with tomato sauce and loved it. We shared the tiramisu which was equally good. The service was impeccable and would highly recommend.

Excellent food in a special setting

By LavenderSeattle |

We dined with another couple on June 21st. It was a gorgeous night, so we sat outside by the fountain. We leisurely dined for several hours, enjoying the wine and the beautiful setting. I ordered the beef ravioli with pesto sauce. It was absolutely delicious. My husband had the special of the evening which was a pasta with seafood in marinara sauce. We finished the evening with a coffee and the best tiramisu we have ever eaten. This is a restaurant to put on your list to enjoy. It was our second visit there and we were not disappointed.

A True Italian Gem

Mario and his staff were welcoming and made us feel right at home. Combine this with a superb atmosphere, excellent food & wine and you've truly got a gem!

Delicious little slice of Sicily hiding in Belltown

By Deborah P |

Very friendly service. Great food. This has become our go-to place if we want to treat visiting friends without breaking the budget. Delicious Southern Italian comfort foods. Cute little fountain courtyard, hiding right in Belltown. Nice for sitting outside in the summer.

Delicious, Fresh, Warmth

By trumps4travel |

Our family of four arrived on a Friday night without a reservation and they were kind enough to find us a table in the small restaurant. You can tell the restaurant is carefully run with a small professional waitstaff and the owner on site. The service was good; not overly attentive. The atmosphere is warm and was cozy on a rainy night. We enjoyed the garlic bread and each had a dish of pasta which was perfectly cooked with tasty fresh sauce. My pasta de sardo (with sardines) was a new sauce to me so I tried it and was very pleased! The ravioli with pesto was also delicious a sauce. We shared a wonderful tiramisu for dessert. It was an expensive dinner, but I felt it was worth it for the last night of our trip!

A hidden gem

By alisabinhope |

Wandering around just after we arrived in Seattle, and stumbled across this little piece of paradise, We sat outside in the courtyard a slice of heaven. I wish I hadn't been travel-weary as I would have enjoyed it so much more. But having said that it was not the restaurant that caused that. Service 5 star, nut not pretentious, very friendly. Wish we were here longer so we could go again

Great food, service and atmosphere

By John G |

Had dinner here with my wife and kids. (Kids were 16-22 years old). Charming restaurant and the food was excellent. The dessert (lemon cello panda cotta) was very good. Servers were attentive and personable.

Great Italian food and wine list

Great Italian food, atmosphere and wine list. Only too bad we had to ask for the desert menu 3 times and got our coffees before we received the desert menu...

Great restaurant in Belltown

By Michael M |

I enjoyed my pasta dish here very much. The atmosphere here is lovely too. You will enjoy dining here.

Expensive

By dugall |

Very cosy but the food was not worth the money. We had the linguini and the seafood risotto which were ok but nothing more. Very authentic Italian atmosphere though.

Wonderful ambience with okay food

By 4elsie |

As you can see from other photos this is a restaurant with a lovely courtyard and location. It apparently is built as part of an old apartment building and three of the units have been repurposed for the establishment. We loved the ambience and large exposed beams, brick walls and quiet atmosphere. We came on Wednesday and it remained relatively quiet throughout our meal. Some people were enjoying the courtyard as the weather was good. With regard to slow service, yes it is extremely emotionally but our server was very friendly and perhaps you just have to sink yourself into the mindset of being in Europe when things are extremely slow-paced and there is no rush. For those who come and need to park, a couple of comments – Park on the side of the street where the restaurant is and it is angled parking. The parallel parking directly across the restaurant does not open until 6 PM – reserved for buses before then. Also there is a paraphernalia shop on the corner and we experienced a large gathering of people of which several asked us for money. Good if you are in a charitable mood, but if you find solicitations unpleasant worth remembering. The food itself was all right. Wife had eggplant pasta and I the chicken special made with artichokes. Bruschetta was highly uninteresting. However, I wouldn't say that I felt it was a highly savory or memorable culinary experience. I would echo others in noting that bread here is a real low light. It's dry, coarse and not even served with olive oil or butter to enhance any potential flavor.

Quaint location and enjoyable food

By CakeVampire |

The atmosphere was nice, if a little dated. The courtyard is very nice and the restaurant had some old touches. Some things felt a little too dated for taste (who still has doilies) but overall it was a nice ambiance, especially if you are going for romantic. The food was good, at the time it was ranked in the top 20 of TA seattle though and I am not quite sure it deserves a spot so high. I would place it certainly within the top 50 however. Our appetiser was a bit underwhelming, we also tried the garlic bread which left a bit to be desired. The main courses were pretty enjoyable however somewhat small too. The Cannelloni di Vitello comes with a nice veal stuffed cannelloni but given the side even with two apps it was hard to be full. I fully believe that some of their other food (or maybe another night) may be far better and just been unlucky. They had a decent wine selection for a restaurant of that size with some nice pairing options. Its a solid meal but a bit overpriced for the portions and a slight bit outdated. In the summer, especially if they are seating outside, would make for a nice night.

Tip

By Jules |

We arrived in Seattle tonight and went to this restaurant on the recommendation of our hotel reception staff. The service was good, the food wholesome but somewhat unremarkable. It was a Friday night and the restaurant was quiet compared to others. Our handwritten bill arrived and on leaving we realised was either incorrectly added up or had a $26 tip not noted but included by the restaurant itself. It also came with a cash register printed docket with option to further tip, which we did, albeit being twice.

Want to go back when I can sit outside!

By redhead_roaming |

I was a little bummed that we couldn't sit outside but pretty much everything else was great. We got a bottle of wine which was very good. We both ordered a pasta dish and I would have liked them to be a little larger. We got two desserts - a cannoli and a tiramisu and both were good. I do have to say our waiter was outstanding! He had a great accent but not so thick that you couldn't understand what he was saying. He was smiley, sweet and helpful! We were seated in the front room so I didn't see any of the rest of the restaurant but just that area was large enough and cute.

Enjoyable

By snworb |

Restaurant with very friendly staff from start to finish. Pleasing decor and atmosphere. Outstanding cannelloni, fettuccine and salads. Reasonable priced wine list . Reservations are reccomended.

What a great surprise!

By LPLover |

We were in Seattle to celebrate my birthday and wanted to find an Italian restaurant in the Belltown neighborhood near our hotel. I was able to make a last-minute reservation on the Sunday night of July 4th weekend. We were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves seated at an outdoor table in a beautiful, quiet courtyard next to a small pool with fountains and flowers, set back off a residential street. Everything we ate was terrific. We shared a bruschetta appetizer; my nephew had Risotto di Mare – Arborio rice with prawns, calamari, & scallops in a tomato sauce; my wife savored her fresh Tortellini Gorgonzola with spinach and pine nuts in cream sauce; and I loved my Fettucini Del Bosco – with mushrooms and peas in an aurora sauce (tomato meat sauce with a touch of cream.) We were too full for dessert but couldn't leave without sharing a delicious lemon torte. The service was impeccable and the price was right.

Fun and different setting

By Scott A |

We ate here while travelling through Seattle. We kind of wandered by and saw the menu on the street and thought it looked fun. I think there were options to sit inside but we ate outside. Dining outside means you're in a small courtyard that also served as the entrance to the apartment building. I could see up into a few apartments and occasionally people would walk through to either enter or leave the apartment building. The courtyard was a little cheesy with a small fountain that had seen better days and an interesting array of plants and decorations. I liked it though. The dinner was delicious and the desserts were even better. The wait staff was very attentive and helped each other out so we were never left waiting for something. The prices were very reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate to return the next time I'm in Seattle. Definitely worth checking out.

Super Service and Wonderful Food!

By HonoluluHistorian |

My wife and I hit Indian Summer in Seattle perfectly, so it was time for the outdoor courtyard at La Fontana! April took care of seating us next to the fountain and Mario was our menu expert. We shared a hand-cut pasta dish with mussels, clams and scallops: sauced and seasoned perfectly! How many layers of flavor can you pack into a chicken stuffed with four cheeses? Lots! My wife and I couldn't stop ordering plates to try. I stopped at a plate of veal in a lemon sauce. Because. It. Was. SO. GOOD!!!!

Great Food

By heartnsoul |

The food was great, friendly service and they were able to accommodate a large party. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Best Meal of the Trip

By littlesthobo81 |

We drove from Seattle down the coast to LA and we talked about the risotto we had at LFS the whole way! We didn't love the bruschetta we had there but the risotto... I wish I could eat it every day. The service was perfect and the atmosphere was cozy and sweet. I loved this place!

Highlight of our pre-cruise trip to Seattle

By Jeff |

Wow!! I don't write positive reviews that often (a positive experience should be expected, right?) but this place was so good on all levels that I just had to give them a shout out. We walked by La Fontana last night on the way to another dinner (at Aqua, which was also great but not as good all around) and thought that it would be a good place to go for our last dinner in Seattle before leaving on our cruise. Made the reservations and our experience was great from the time we stepped in. We checked in and were able to sit in the small courtyard outside which was cozy yet private and quiet. The host couldn't have been friendlier. Then, Jeff was our server and he was so cordial and made us feel at home and welcome. He was so helpful in finding a bottle of wine that worked perfectly for us. Then we ordered the food, chicken parmigiana, another chicken dish, fresh vegetables, and garlic bread. Perfectly done, very tasty, and just the perfect portion sizes. Followed by a tiramisu that topped everything off. While the great food was appreciated, I can't express how nice it was to have every person that we encountered (host, server, and two other people with water/clearing/etc) be so friendly and engaging that it made it one of the best meal experiences that I have had in a really long time! I hope I get the chance to come back to Seattle soon and, when I do, I will absolutely go back to La Fontana! Thanks guys!

Was hoping for more

By FormerTucsonian |

We visited on a Saturday evening and were immediately excited by the ambiance--the entry courtyard, the lovely tables, windows, brick walls, old piano with family photos, not to mention the opera playing on the sound system. But we were also immediately disappointed in the food. The texture of the bruschetta was too soft, the bread served separately was bland and perhaps a little stale, the escarole salad was dull, and the pastas we had were drowning in sauce. The Bosco was especially disappointing because the fettuccine was apparently handmade. I say apparently because you couldn't taste it due to the thick, rich, overly ample tomato cream sauce. Italians tend to lightly sauce their pastas so we were perplexed by this, as well as the high (23) Zagats rating.

Don’t miss this gem!

By Tara M |

We went here because a friend said it was the best Italian restaurant she had ever been to, and since her mom was Sicilian, this was high praise. After our delightful evening here, we agree! Our food was wonderful, the staff was attentive, and the restaurant was cozy.

Delicious Italian meals

By OphSeattle |

Authentic Sicilian cuisine in a charming old building. The owner Mario has been at this location for many years, always creating amazing appetizers and entrees. Summertime dine outdoors around the fountain. Street parking plus a parking lot across the street. A family favorite for quite a while--even held my son's groom's dinner here 20 years ago.

Service, Ambiance & wonderful menu artfully prepared by the kitchen!

By ARNK-UU |

This place, located in a romantic brick might easily be overlooked. When you step inside la Fontana, you leave Seattle and find yourself inside that perfectly romantic little Italian restaurant that is becoming all too hard to find. The mood of this place is wonderful; the food is awsome. Call ahead for reservations: 206-441-1045.

Poor customer service, mediocre food

Lovely Italian food

By Camprico |

This excellent neighborhood Italian restaurant never fails us The restaurant’s simple plain decor feels like so many restaurants we have visited in the Italian countryside The food is carefully constructed of exquisite, fresh ingredients. The marinara sauce is in a class of its own The Tricolori Canneloni is a wonderful combination of veal tomato and basil flavors and not to be missed. Pair it with a Caesar salad and a glass of one of their lovely wines and you know you will return over and over as we have

Back to Europe

By vicdisco |

This city gem is a must do, especially in the late spring or summer when you can eat outside in a courtyard that will transport you back to Europe. The owner and wait staff couldn't be more pleasant and the food, awww the food amazing, a real delight . Do put this restaurant on your must do list.

Quite worth the search!

By Texas Voyager |

Though just a few blocks away from our hotel, even Google Maps was at a loss where to find this gem. Once we shut down the not so smart phones (we at least got our Fitbit steps in for the night), we found this brilliant Italian treasure tucked away down an alley with a fountain, hence the name. The atmosphere was warm, intimate, and charming. The wine list was exceptional. The service was nearly as grand as the perfect Italian fare. A bit on the pricey side but most worth it all in all. Truly memorable for our anniversary get away!

Indifferent service, overpriced

By Bob P |

We liked this place in the past, but were very disappointed this time. Service was inattentive and indifferent. We ordered a wine and after 10 minutes asked why it hadn't arrived, only to be told they couldn't find it. Food was tasty but rather spare portions. Nothing gracious about the experience.

Old world service, cozy on a drizzly evening

By professorB53 |

If I lived here, this would definitely be one of my favorite restaurants to return to over and over. Very good service that was helpful and the meal was exceptional.

Big disappointment

By steph4334 |

Our visit began with an older gentleman, who we believe is the owner, not addressing us in any way, other than to repeat the name on our reservation. He seated us without a word or greeting...not even a polite smile or acknowledgment. No “Hello,” “Good evening,” “enjoy your evening,” NOTHING. We had noted on the reservation that it was our 21st anniversary. That went unrecognized as well. The young, female server came after waiting quite a while. She was quiet, no niceties were exchanged once again, not even an “enjoy your evening” or “how are you tonight?” No bread was served, possibly because we eventually ordered Bruschetta, but other tables had bread and we would have liked some with our meal as well. Should be standard. We ordered, and getting our 2 glasses of wine took another 10-15 minutes. We were never offered a second glass or anything else. We waited quite a while for the bruschetta appetizer, then waited even longer for the entrée. We were not in a rush, but had the service been better, the waiting wouldn’t have been so bad. Our entrees, both veal scallopine, were delicious, but the side dishes of potatoes and snap peas were very, very meager. It was actually not enough food, especially for the price ($28-30/each) although it was delicious. Our empty plates and empty wine glasses sat before us on the table for a long time before they were removed. The restaurant was not particularly busy. The service was inefficient. Finally another gentleman came and cleared our plates. We ordered a shared dessert and espresso. The “homemade” tiramisu was the worst we’ve ever had. It was all cream, and the lady fingers/cake were not soaked in amaretto or liqueur. The espresso was not served with a lemon rind, which is standard at upscale Italian/Sicilian restaurants . There were simply no nice touches; nothing to make the experience special, except for the pretty courtyard. As we paid, no one said “Thank you,” or “enjoy the rest of your evening.” NOTHING. We left stunned and disappointed. This was the first time we’ve left less than a 20% tip. I sincerely wish we could have given this restaurant and experience a better review, but the disappointment after waiting a few years to be able to go to La Fontana on our actual anniversary date and relive our engagement in Italy years ago was a bitter pill. We won’t be returning. (As an aside, and having nothing to do with the restaurant per se, but some diners may be bothered at the smell of pot wafting through the air several times throughout the evening from the pot store directly across the street. Even that was more tolerable than the terrible service and overall experience at La Fontana.)

A taste of Italy in the West

By Glenn W |

We stumbled upon this little Italian restaurant by accident and are pleased that we did. We did not have a reservation and walked, starving after a long day of travel. The staff was fantastic and the food even better. We have recently visited Italy so our expectations were high and we were not disappointed. The food was savory, with good sized portions, and served with pride. I had a Seafood pasta in red sauce that was excellent and my wife enjoyed the Cannelloni di Vitello, with a Tricolor sauce, also very very good. Fresh baked bread, a huge salad and Bruschetta all complimented with a very nice Barolo wine, recommended by our Server. For me, it just doesn't get any better! Until you add the House made, Limoncello! Toto bene!

Amazing lamb with fig dish

By Loves_2_Travel__067 |

It tasted just like food in Sicily. Loved it. The cannoli were not fresh though. The ricotta was put in the shell and left in the refrigerator. That's a big no-no in Sicily. The ricotta needs to go in just before you serve the cannoli, so the outer shell is crispy. Otherwise, a delicious meal and charming decor.

For many years La Fontana has been one of our favorite restaurants ❤️we have enjoyed getting to know Mario the owner, what a sweetheart! Celebrating our anniversary was a disaster! We were greeted by a rather indifferent young lady , not the usual charming gentlemen. We reserved our favorite table two months in advance only to be seated in a back room that we didn't know existed! Being a Saturday night and the restaurant was busy, it was a disappointing to say the least 😬 our server was young and over worked, and our service suffered ! Water glasses remained empty most of the night while she filled other tables , we were asked if we wanted bread , however it never arrived! My dinner was served with the wrong starch , when I had eaten most of my meal the server arrived with the wrong type of pasta, and blamed the kitchen! To make matters worse the back dining room had no music , even though there were speakers on the wall ! so we were forced to listen to another couples conversation, making an off night even worse ! Never once did our server ever apologize for the meal mess up ! We were asked not once but four times if we were interested in seeing the desert tray ! The waiter was in such a hurry I could get my cappuccino ordered ! Which is paired beautifully with the tiramisu! Which was the only great food on our table that night 😬 Again everybody has an off night , however common curtesy goes along way !

This was an amazing dinner, get a reservation for the courtyard

By Mcaltom |

We popped in for dinner and did not have a reservation, but we did get a table inside. The staff was extremely attentive and provided good recommendations. I had two teen daughters and they liked the food and desert, and they are picky eaters. Not cheap, but for a special occasion, well worth it.

Amazing Place & Outstanding Staff

By skierCalgary |

We celebrated our anniversary here and we could not have selected a better restaurant. I loved the room we were in, small only 5 tables and all with white table cloths. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. He recommended an appetizer that we were not familiar with, Caponata. We enjoyed it but I like bruschetta better. The sauce for dipping the crusty bread was the best I have ever tasted. I wanted to buy a bottle of it to bring home. My wife had veal with a lemon sauce and I had snapper with a tomato sauce which was the daily special. Both were outstanding. We shared a flourless chocolate torte for dessert; I could have eaten 2 or 3 of them it was so good. All in all we could not have selected a better place for a milestone anniversary. We loved every minute we were there.

Great Italian in Belltown

By Gordon H |

Can't say enough good about La Fontana! We have been there twice with friends, and have had a delightful time, and excellent food & service. We sat on the patio both times, enjoying a warm Summer evening in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. (yes, it happens...) The food was excellent for all the various dishes ordered. The menu offers great variety, with options for most any taste. Our waiters were both Italian, adding to the ambiance. They were very attentive, without hovering. Give La Fontana a try. You won't be disappointed.

Out-of-the-way location; worth it

By Mark B |

The restaurant is tucked into part of the ground floor of an old apartment building in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. Odd location, but apparently has been there for years. I always have to check menus beforehand as I don't eat meat any more. I saw something (roasted eggplant) I could try and it was delicious as was the cream of spinach soup. The room we were seated in (there appear to be more than one) was quite cozy and atmospheric, and again, very old, but that just added to the charm. From the picture on the website it appears there is outdoor dining....next to the fountain....in the warm season.

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere!

We dined at this restaurant for our anniversary in June 2024. I always get the Pesto Ravioli, and it is to die for, so creamy, rich and so delicious! The staff are wonderful with recommendations and their service is amazing. Highly recommend this little 'hole' in the wall in downtown. It is on level with The Pink Door in terms of quality and experience.

Thank you Saulo, Ana, and Ray!

By Elizabeth M |

We were visiting Seattle before an Alaskan cruise and booked this restaurant on a whim about a month before our trip. This was the BEST decision!! Saulo and Ana are the most GRACIOUS hosts!!! We left the restaurant feeling like family. The food was unbelievable — some highlights were the Squid Ink pasta with smoked salmon and the sausage special. They were able to accommodate our large party outdoors in the cutest patio - truly felt like we were in Italy. Coming from Boston, we love Italian food and this was better than any North End restaurant I’ve ever been to. Ray was THE BEST WAITOR!!! So kind and dealt with our large group (including gluten and dairy free restrictions). Definitely go here if you are in Seattle!! Thank you Saulo, Ana, and Ray!!!

Outstanding

Our daughter referred this place to us. It was fantastic. The staff was amazing. The food was wonderful. A truly enjoyable intimate dining experience.

Not worth it.

Our family went here to celebrate one of our kids sweet 16’s. I made a reservation online and noted that it was a birthday dinner. We arrived 5 mins before our reservation and were met by a waiter (whom eventually would be our waiter) telling me that I’m too early and they’re short staffed, have only been open for 2 weeks now and that we’ll need to wait a bit before we can be sat. The space is very small and the tables were way too close together, especially during COVID. Once we were sat (with no menus), we waited close to 10 minutes before our waiter came over and asked what we wanted. Well, we didn’t have menus or a drink menu so we had no idea what we wanted. Once he got those menu’s to us, he had the waitress there (extremely sweet woman) set 2 bottles of tap water on the table. The water glasses they had are actually ice cream sundae glasses, so they are a bit odd to drink out of, especially for kids, but whatever. We were not offered bread or anything and when the waiter came back to take our drink orders, he told us they have wine, Italian beer and 3 types of soda, so we were walking in to this pretty blind when it came to ordering adult beverages. I ordered a glass of house Pinot noir which cost $10 for a very small glass and my husband asked for an Italian beer, which made the waiter chuckle at him but still no offer on which Italian beers they actually had. I finally had to ask this question and he named only 2 kinds and was chuckling like WE were the idiots. This behavior continued all night and if I had known then how it continued, I would have gathered up the family and found somewhere else to eat. I ordered us bread to start, as that’s on the list of appetizers, but the waiter said they could only do garlic bread, so whatever, we went with that. It came out with 5 extremely small, thin pieces that tasted like something you’d eat with school lunch. The more infuriating part is that they charged us $8 for it!!!!! When it came time to order meals, they don’t have a kids menu so I asked if we could just do any type of macaroni for the 7 year old; well, I was met with a snarky “we don’t have macaroni. This is an old school Italian restaurant”. Macaroni is used as a general term, as is pasta, but maybe it’s different here on the west coast. I asked if my 7 year old could please get a meatball on the side and was told with a snarky laugh “we don’t have meatballs, this is a very old school Italian restaurant”. My 16 year old had trouble pronouncing what she was ordering while she was pointing at it but the waiter gave no assistance and just stood there while she tried her best to pronounce it but I eventually had to step in and help because he was just dragging her along. We all ordered our meals and I will admit, the food is good but the servings are not much, especially for what you’re paying. Being in a very crowded restaurant, I’m not going to say anything, but he needs to watch what he says to people and how he says it, because I’ve eaten at “old school Italian” establishments older than the city of Seattle itself. I’m a 2nd generation Italian, my family is from Brooklyn and all still live in NY and NJ. My Italian family recipes date back hundreds and hundreds of years, I’m not sure how much more “old school Italian” you can get. Since we were all very crowded together, you could clearly overhear the waiter speaking to the other tables and I mentioned to my husband how the waiter didn’t seem to be speaking to the other tables as condescending as he was to us, which made me wonder why he was speaking to only us like that. I quickly figured it out later on in the evening. We had already promised the kids dessert so when they brought out a decent sized dessert menu, the kids were stoked, only to find out at least 3 of those items were unavailable. We went with the only appealing items on the menu: cheesecake, panna cotta and cannolis. Now, being born and raised on the east coast in an OLD SCHOOL Italian family, I know what a cannoli is supposed to taste like. These cannoli’s were absolutely awful. They tasted like they had been stuffed with whipped cream and there was only filling on the very ends-the middles were absolutely empty. The cheesecake was regular store bought cheesecake as was the panna cotta. The sad part is, these desserts were $9 each, which is a complete rip off especially for gross, store bought items. Our waters were never refilled, we were never asked if we wanted refills on drinks or anything. We just wanted the bill and to get out of there, but when they brought the bill, I almost fainted! First of all, they AUTOMATICALLY threw on a 20% tip even though we were a party of 5 and their website clearly states that a 20% gratuity will be added for parties of 6 or more. Our bill was $250 total for a family of 5 with the 7 year old only ordering a kids fettuccine with olive oil. 🤔 Unfortunately, after seeing the automatic 20% gratuity added to a check and the tasteless interactions the waiter created between him and my family the entire evening, I can only hope that this was not based on the fact that we are a mixed race family, with my husband being an Afro-Latino (although most people display their ignorance by assuming he’s “black”) or that we had kids with us. Usually you don’t go against company policy and automatically add a gratuity for a group under 6 people unless you think they’re not going to tip well. All of this was very upsetting to us, especially since we just moved here (across country less than a month ago) and had high hopes for the restaurants within the city of Seattle. Hopefully this experience is not the norm. I don’t recommend this establishment and will not eat here again. The owner needs to give his team some serious customer service training and watch the prices and actual contents of what’s on his menu.

Nice Italian

By Domi |

Nice Italian find in central Seattle - small room with an intimate atmosphere. The food is more "America Italian" than proper Italian, but good nonetheless. Ask for specials of the day.

Need to teach servers manners.......

By Lori F |

We had dinner at La Fontana this past Saturday night; it was recommended by one of the staff members at The Belltown Inn. Our server, a foreign gentleman, took our order and returned with some terrible bread; tasted like cardboard. I had the Spaghetti Norma & my husband had the special Scallop dish with Risotto. My Spaghetti was excellent. The Scallops were dry and over cooked. My husband NEVER sends food back; however, this time I insisted he do it. There were three scallops on the Risotto and they were TERRIBLE. The server took the plate without saying anything and returned with a menu telling my husband to pick something else. The server (I don't remember his name, but he had a very heavy (Latin) accent, brought back the new dish my husband ordered and never returned to ask how the new dish was, nor did he return until it was time to give us the check. He was very rude. I would go back for the food, but the service needs to be better.

Great food and service!

By canuck_downunder05 |

We popped in here based on our hotels recommendation. Beautiful courtyard to dine in but you need a reservation to sit there. Staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. I ate the Fettuccine Ai Fungi which was delicious and my bf had the cannelloni di pollo which he also enjoyed. Little expensive, but worth it :)

A little jewel of a restaurant

By Vickie W |

We've been to La Fontana several times. This time it was to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Service was absolutely excellent and the food was as well. A perennial favorite is either the fettuccine or risotto with mushrooms and truffle oil. Delectable. There's also a tortellini with a light lemon cream sauce. Unusual, but lovely. Please try their cold squid. It comes in a light pesto sauce on a bed of greens. So good and different from the usual fried calamari. The limoncello panna cotta was a light and delicious way to end our meal. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, soft lighting, wood tables and chairs and a cute little courtyard.

a lovely evening in the courtyard

By Darrel C |

I try to dine every summer when I can sit out side by the fountains. I have also eaten with friends inside: very cozy and romantic. This evening, I enjoyed excellent service [no hovering, just attentiveness] and a superior meal. I began with "contadina:" slightly wilted spinach arrayed on grilled melanzane [eggplant] full of balsamic vinegar. Followed by what is probably a Sicilian dish: tortolloni in a sauce of lemon and pistachios. Pistacchi are used in a lot of dishes in Sicily. I asked the waiter, who speaks italian, if he is from Sicily: no, Calabria.

Charming atmosphere, great service, fabulous food

By Seattle98101 |

How did it take me over 30 years to find this place? I was finally drawn in when I saw their Instagram account, highlighting the charming outdoor courtyard with tables around a central fountain (La Fontana). We went for dinner and had a fabulous meal. They have a great selection of pasta dishes, it was hard to choose - clearly, we will have to keep going back to work our way through the list. There are also a few chicken and veal options, and risotto. I then booked a reservation for 14 people to celebrate a family birthday. They are wonderful to work with, no problem accommodating large parties, and were very gracious when we had to cancel and reschedule due to illness. It was a perfect evening, and the indoor dining rooms are just as cosy and charming as the courtyard. It feels very authentically Italian, and the staff are great. Our new favorite Italian restaurant in Seattle!

Run, don't walk to this wonderful Italian Restaurant

By Ina R |

My husband and I were visiting Seattle for a few days and wanted to find a great Italian Restaurant our last night in this beautiful city. Were we lucky to find La Fontana. The service was wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. My husband ate pasta with a spicy sauce (but not too spicy) and he told our waiter, Ray, that it was the best pasta dish he has ever eaten, anywhere!! My pasta ( flat pasta) with veal and spices was also fabulous. The wine list was also very extensive. Our waiter, Ray, was also terrific. He was very attentive to our needs and answered our dinner questions with patience. A very good waiter. If we return to Seattle, we would definitely go back. If we lived in Seattle, we would be regular customers, it was that good.

Wonderful Evening

By hulapam |

We came on a Saturday night with another couple to celebrate our anniversaries. The food was fantastic and and the service by Valerio was great!!!! I had the Risotta special with italian sausage and creamed chestnuts. Everyone loved their meal. Loved the atmosphere. There was a lady playing the piano in the other room. Will go back again soon!!!!

Outstanding Italian food in a beautiful setting

By Slabotsky |

My wife, son and I had a delicious meal with excellent service in a converted house which has 3 quaint brick-walled rooms and a nice terrace, although the terrace is also the entrance of an apartment building. All appetizers and mains were excellent. The prices are fair. If you are looking for an outstanding Italian meal go to La Fontana Siciliana

Very good food with slow service

By danaeval |

Two adults and an adolescent very much enjoyed our entrees but we waited more than one hour between appetizer and main course when the restaurant had some empty tables and it was past peak dinner hours. I spoke to the waiter after forty minutes but he wasn’t helpful or sympathetic though he was polite at all other times. Twenty minutes would have been approximate food prep time for our most complex meal. Again, very good food but we hadn’t planned to spend so much time sitting around.

What a GEM of a restaurant!

By jloberle |

Our family of 8 (Grandparents, Parents, Children, & Aunt) were staying within walking distance of this restaurant. After a long travel day (flying from Ohio), we were in search of a restaurant JUST LIKE THIS ONE!! We took the road less travelled and found a GEM! We didn't have reservations, but the owner treated us and made room. There wasn't one of us who didn't LOVE their meal. This is authentic Italian food. You can't go wrong with any of the selections. The quaintness of the restaurant adds to the greatness of the experience. Whether you sit outside next to the fountain or inside, you feel as though you're eating in Italy. The owner makes you feel like family. Absolutely, can't say enough about this restaurant.

Authentic

By naomi k |

One word: Amazing!! Everything, I mean everything, we ordered was so delicious. The marinara sauce tasted so fresh and not out of a can. All of the ingredients and cooking style made the variety of dishes we ordered so good. Even my picky 6yr old loves the spaghetti with meat sauce. “Yummy”. The entire staff that we encountered were from Italy! Definitely will be back

Very good, but not great

By agioe |

It is an old style, family Italian restaurant, but was expecting more energy and personality. Very few tables occupied. I had chicken masala and it was fantastic. Also had the tiramisu that was very good, but not the best I've ever had. I wonder if it had been warmer with the outside patio open if the vibe might have been more energetic. Just not terribly memorable.

The Best Italian Ever!

By Christopher H |

First let be start by saying LA Fontana has the best service period! Secondly the best and most authentic Italian food I have ever had! Ray is a great server so please ask for him and tell him I sent you! Best Ever!

Excellent, overpriced food and wine

By Jody_11 |

Well, others have said it -- the wine is overpriced by the glass and by the bottle. The ambience was nice, we were in the piano room. The appetizers are overpriced, though the ones we had were yummy; a bit skimpy (for the price). We had pasta dishes for our main course, they were yummy, I guess worth the $18-22 typical of those dishes at this place. .. The cannoli wasn't very good, though when we arrived, other desserts had looked yummy --we were just too full. I had a Groupon coupon worth $60 (for $30), but even so, the total with tip was another $75 -- $135 for two. Would I go again? Perhaps with a coupon, or if someone else was paying. One more note (if owners read) -- I know Seattleites are not Europeans, but 10:30 seems like an awfully early closing time on weekends (10 on weekdays), especially for a Sicilian restaurant.

A lovely place for a special occasion tucked away in Belltown.

By dmurin |

We've walked by the charming courtyard a dozen times, commenting "how cute!" with the iron fencing, fountain and lights. Entries range from $20 - $30+, so a Groupon finally prompted us to actually go inside and eat. It was delicious. Calamari in pesto was perfectly cooked; no rubber rings here. My lemon risotto with scallops was outstanding. My husband's rock fish with tomatoes, capers and kalamata olives was also delicious. We did not find the food to be bland at all. Service was fantastic; attentive, but not smothering. Ambiance is romantic, accompanied by an upright piano played at perfect volume; initially we didn't even realize it was live. It is pricey (for our wallet), but we felt the portions were fair. We didn't bring home leftovers, but we didn't leave hungry either. La Fontana Siciliana is definitely on our "Special Occasion" list. : )

Pricey but ok fare

By DanielLogan |

Waiter was sweet man but when we found out tortalenni were frozen, we went limp. The atmosphere looks like they could spend some cash to boost the looks.

Good food, disappointing service

By Gary C |

In a great location and excellent ambience La Fontana should provide a memorable experience. The food was good although a little overpriced for the quality. However, the service was extremely disappointing. Inially the first drink was served promptly but thereafter things just slowed down. We have liked a dessert and a dessert wine but nothing was offered and it took ages for the bill to appear. The waiters expect a tip for service and in the circumstances I only made a small tip which actually exceeded the service. Time to lift your game. Other Seattle restaurants we visited over this period provided excellent service.

Delicious

By AdrienneB6013 |

Lovely small family restaurant. Everything we had was excellent. Even my fussy boyfriend said I had found a winner. The service is very attentive as well. My only .comment is I wish they had more hot appetizers. The garlic bread was quite good.

Charming, inviting and different

By msmarls |

This tiny gem in busy Belltown is a real find. From the moment you step into the little courtyard you'll feel like you're at a wonderful place in a small village in Italy. The interior is cozy, wine list excellent, food is perfect-marvelous homemade pastas and local fish dishes. All of this plus very personal service from the attentive and welcoming owner. This restaurant has been here for awhile, this was my 1st visit and I will definitely return. A lovely evening.

Romantic, Secluded, Homemade food

By heyheypippa |

Lovely setting, relaxing atmosphere and dining experience. Food is delicious, homemade. The dessert we chose was a cheesecake with a chocolate topping. Marvelous! They made an unusual bruschetta: mozzarella atop orange slice drizzled with olive oil! Amazing! Service quietly attentive. Priced on the higher end. Great for special occasions.

First time customer

We loved this restaurant. Intimate setting, great service, good wine and delicious food. We will definitely be back next time we are in Seattle.

Ambiance!

By Denise S |

Great little gem! Romantic little spot, authentic courtyard at entrance sets the stage. Cozy seating inside with exposed brick walls. Food was great. Had the garlic bread app. Lots of garlic, really good. One order of Risotto, one ravioli and one chicken marsala. All served in a timely manner and piping hot. Each dish was sampled and enjoyed. One was better than the next. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Italian food. Note: Not a full bar.

Wow, don' t know why it took so long to find this gem

By 98199cf |

Nice wine list, lots of menu choices, and on a warm summer evening, the outdoor seating is lovely. The service was good- the waiter attentive, but not cloying or hovering. Food was very good. This has become one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle, which is full of great places to eat.

Perfect!

By LSparkly |

Sat outside in the beautiful courtyard. Felt like we were in Italy. The food was incredible! Spaghetti sauce was phenomenal. We wanted to lick the bowl clean. The staff were wonderful. We ordered something we didn't want. They took it back and replaced it super fast. Then didn't charge us for the one we sent back. Love!

Quaint and sensual

By SONLVN |

Food was delicious. Waiter was attentive, charming and helpful. Small place, but big on flavor. Smells great when you walk in, too.

Great food, intimate room.

By Rob H |

We were seated right away. Waiter took our drink order and the wine arrived very quickly. We ordered, food come out hot and very tasty. We had the cannoli and it was great. An all around great meal. We will return.

Not authentic and added a meal to our bill

By blueskychris |

Not an authentic Italian restaurant. Tried to scam us by adding an additional meal to our check. We can speak Italian so we immediately spotted it. When we challenged the waiter didn’t even look - he knew there was an issue. As a result we didn’t leave a tip. So they cheekily pointed out that the bill did not automatically include a service charge. No, it automatically included an additional meal. The setting is nice but diners should be aware that the restaurant is located in a very dodgy area of Seattle. Our hotel recommended we get a taxi and not walk. If you choose to eat here we would thoroughly recommend getting a taxi. In terms of the food the appetisers were nice but the mains were very average. If you are Italian or love proper Italian food there are better restaurants in the area. As our concierge flagged later in the holiday!

Delicious!

By Dihizzle |

We had a nice quiet dinner here. Both of us were happy with dinner. Has a nice ambience and the staff was friendly too. The only downside- it’s in a sketchy neighborhood so be careful.

Amazing place!

By Abbey H |

We stumbled upon this adorable little Italian restaurant today and found the most amazing experience! Mario made our visit memorable and one I will always remember! If you are in Seattle you must find this diamond in the city. Amazing food, service and atmosphere! Thank you La Fontana for the best dining experience we had in Seattle.

Fresh, authentic Italian dinner and dessert

By rainbowsandunicorns |

My spouse is Italian and enjoys finding high quality authentic Italian food in the States. We enjoyed delicious fresh mozzarella in our caprese appetizer that sent me straight back to Florence. My entree included homemade pasta (the best!) and dessert was a scrumptious cannolo. Our waiter carried on a friendly banter with us in Italian all evening and even directed us to a hidden bar around the corner for a cozy after dinner drink. We really like when locals point us out to these hidden treasures. Although it was a bit pricey, we would definitely go back.

Wonderful experience--great food!

Beautiful patio dining spot in the Belltown area of Seattle. Excellent food, kind and attentive service for solo diners and decent prices.

Just delightful

By Hoffmnron |

Staying at an Airbnb in Belltown, I did a quick search for nearby restaurants and cam across La Fontana Siciliana. It was pretty highly rated and well reviewed. My wife and I and our daughter from NYC went for a quick meal before a show. It was exceptional. My veal scalloping (a house specialty) was superb. Pasta's and salads were perfect and a chocolate cake topped off the meal. Highly, highly recommended.

Probably the best meal yet

By Kenneth_Smith |

We were very lucky today, Mario - the owner, was chef tonight. The food was excellent, the pasta cooked to perfection and we all cleared our plates. The desserts were wonderful, I had the tiramisu and it was so subtly flavoured. Amazing service, thanks guys. Small restaurant which can do circa 100 covers per night. I would recommend you book. It was intimate and you could have a conversation. Good wine list, great menu.

Truly authentic

By Lalonda H |

You walk into this beautiful outdoor setting and are seated by Italian owner at what table cloth tables seated around water feature. Ordered bottle of chianti and it was wonderful. Dinner options tasty and varied. Best tiramisu ever.
