The most expensive meal I’ve ever had that was no good. There were 6 of us and it took 3 hours to get our food. The best part was the queso and it was the only thing that was actually hot. Our food was cold and bland. Our server was fantastic though. The cost? $280...

Treated well by server Joseph, we savored guac, then tacos. The grilled chicken and bacon tacos with grilled onions and peppers were outstanding, and my wife enjoyed the fish as well. We sat inside but transitioned Post-meal to the covered patio just up the hill from the riverwalk; a delightful setting as dusk became night.

As much as I hate to give not so good reviews I also feel its only right to review for others to make their own decisions. So I went here yesterday (Jul 8th) for dinner and to meet my long time friend for our monthly girl fellowship/time. And I must say since when did this place become a tapas restaurant? This place, the place where me and my husband had our very first date a long time ago. So I ordered the ceviche and it was fish that tasted like a frozen thawed out fish and all I could really taste was the juice from being thawed out. No real lime taste, if you have never made ceviche before then you might say you might love this, but I'm sorry this was riddiculous. I did not say anything because I am not one to complain and thanks to our waiter I didn't return this dish which its a Mexican delicacy. My friend ordered the 3 tacos, what was that?? Meat? We had chips and avocado, at least those were good. Needless to say the prices for the food has a lot to beg for. This is an over rated place. If I ever do go back is mainly to snack and sit on the patio. But any local who knows what real Mexican food taste like will tell the difference. This here is a tourist trap and a tex-mex fusion, not real Mexican food. To recap, over rated, expensive for tapas, fusion tex-mex, not authentic.

Food is decent, but the service was pretty terrible. Server ignored us the whole night. Drinks came out 20 min after the food and we wasted 30 minutes of our night waiting for the check, even though the table had already been bused. Our 45 minute meal ended up wasting almost 2 hours of our time, due to incompetence.

I went to La Gloria’s with business colleagues on a Tuesday for lunch. It wasn’t crowded and it was clean. They have a shaded patio too and there were people with their dogs outside. The service was good and the queso fundido was amazing. The tacos and tortillas remind me of the authentic cuisine I had when in Michoacán Mexico. It’s excellent. Not high cuisine but Mexican comfort food. It is loud indoors though.

Love the place, during weekend nights nice music, order un elote, una tlayuda, and flan my favorites, and take a walk at the pearl you will love it and it is pet friendly

I am taco freak and this is my second favorite inn the world. Every time I'm in San Antonio I walk three miles to get here. Bartender is great !! We see him every year when we come.

The food was spicy and the Pina Colada was so sweet! U can’t taste any alcohol…:( The service was regular nothing to say WOW…:( We think the place is just Tourist trap and propaganda

Visited here while on business as a recommendation from my wife who has not stopped talking about it since she went 2 years ago. Well it was quite good. Had the shredded beef sopes and steak/bacon tacos. Both quite good. Would definitely return next time in town.

One thing to say. Expensive! $60 with tip for three of us and no alcohol on our tab!! Beans and rice sold separately at $4 each. Chips and queso $12 and no free refills Tacos are small and come with no sides. Sure - cool ambience and ok food, but sooo expensive!

This is an incredibly popular place, and we eat at their airport location whenever we are leaving town, but expect it to be busy, noisy and crowded. Service has been variable. Sometimes friendly and sometimes not so much. But it's a nice place to sit outside along the river, and if you at a non-peak time, you'll probably get better service.

Why do I keep coming back? Because when it’s good, it is SO good. And, when it’s not...I reflect on my previous “good” visits. Lol! Today’s chips were super stale, and while the queso was delicious, you had to gobble it up while it was hot...or else. The happy hour special pineapple tequila cocktail left so much to be desired...slight pineapple taste and flavorless. So, what was good? The sirloin and bacon street tacos and the elote (Mexican street corn) were DELICIOUS! And, for that, I’ll return again.

We had an expensive check that did not match the quality of the food except for the queso appetizer. Tacos were mediocre, beans side was just ok, volume loud. And drinks really watered down and tasteless. We asked for silverware and we received a napkin and a fork a piece. I guess knives are just a little too fancy for this place. Oh, and the women's restroom had NO paper products.

Gloria is set up to eat and drink outside while enjoying the views. Set along the SA river in the Pearl brewery area, the tacos de puerco, tostadas de Mole were just right. We came in for light lunch, drinks, relax outside and walk the river. Gloria's is the perfect spot for that.

We all ordered something different and had a great time trying new things. I discovered that I love ceviche. Can't wait to go back and do it again. The service was above and beyond excellent.

Our food was some of the best Mexican we’ve had while in San Antonio. The kids menu was substantial, atmosphere was very nice.

The service was fine. The food is Mexican not Tex-Mex. We eat in Mexico, including Mexico City often, so we are familiar with Mexican food. They use tilapia as the fish in ceviches and tacos. The shrimp ceviche was bad so we sent it back. The tostadas accompanying the ceviche were old and stale. The base tortilla of the sope de pollo was old with bad flavour- I did not eat it. The tortillas in the tacos were better tasting. The beans were alright. Luckily for us the small containers of salsas were not made with authentic Mexican peppers! The atmosphere was crowded and very loud with Reggaeton playing overhead. Overall, for the dollar value, it was not a stellar lunch, and I would not recommend this location for your dining experience.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch after visiting the pearl farmers market. We really loved everything about the place. Atmosphere was fun and very vibrant. There were a couple TV’s playing the olympics. We loved the food. Shared a couple of dishes. Everything was very fresh and tasty. This is located on the river walk. There is a dog friendly patio. Was a great place for kids.

This is a beautiful location on the San Antonio Riverwalk. The food is ok but the location is the BOMB. I love a place that gives you the option of indoor/outdoor seating. The vibe is awesome.

We had lunch at La Gloria when we were exploring the Riverwalk near the Pearl. Husband had grilled fish tacos, and he really enjoyed them. I had a veggie tostada and a veggie panucho, both were very good with excellent black beans and good avocado. Of the two I preferred the panucho. Good service and a nice location on the river, and a very good value for the Pearl district.

Food, music, atmosphere, and staff superb! Lots of delicious food for very little money. Maybe the best mole I’ve had. Our server, Tina, was very helpful. I tried menu items that I would not have otherwise known to order. Casual vibe, live music. Oh, and feel free to dance if you wish.

This Mexican restaurant is located at the beginning of the river by the Pearl Brewery. Expect a 45 - 1 hr. wait time during peaks times but don’t expect fajita plates or enchiladas. Mini tacos, quesadillas, nachos and margaritas are on the menu. This was our first time at this restaurant. There were 6 people in our party so be aware that gratuity is added. For us, it was 18% gratuity. (The receipt, presented to us folded at the bottom to only display the total, had tip choices of 10%, 18%, or 20%. Added gratuity for larger parties is common.) I mention this so you won’t have any “sticker shock” when you receive your check as we did. Unusual for Mexican restaurants in Texas, this one charged for chips and salsa. Everyone in our party did enjoy the food and margaritas. I recommend the elote in a cup. This is corn served Mexican style. Not spicy. The service was great. Thank you Celeste.

We had a great time at La Gloria. The food was really good and the prices excellent!! Our waiter was great and had some good suggestions. It is very popular on Fridays and Saturdays until late into the night. The Mexican corn side dish is a must have!!!!

Despite not being busy, the service was pretty dismal. Simple orders got messed up (when they finally arrived). Portions were quite small and expensive. Quality was questionable and poorly prepared. (The ceviche Nayarit was basically chopped cucumbers with a random shrimp here and there.) The $11 shot of tequila was watered down (and took a long time to arrive at the table!) Located near the cool Pearl but that’s probably the best thing it has to offer. I’m sure that there are so many better Mexican joints in SA. Give this place a miss.

For some reason it's so hard to find mexican cuisine where they actually try and add flavor and or spice! This place had excellent street style food what a wonderful find

We went to La Gloria for lunch. We chose it because it had food from all over Mexico, and it did! I was disappointed because we had to pay for chips and salsa, which were excellent. I had two mole tamales. I have been to Oaxaca and I love mole. My tamales were very disappointing. The masa seemed like it had been fried and then put into the banana leaves. My tamales were a bit dry also. Only putting salsa on them saved my tamales for me. My husband, on the other hand, loved his Tlayuda which is also from Oaxaca. This restaurant has small bites rather than meals. It is probably good for late night snacks but not a good dinner.

We stopped for lunch as we came into San Antonio. It was not crowded and Klaudia was our waitress - did a very good job - attentive but not too much. If you like a margarita with a lot of fresh lime - tart - get their house special. If you like it sweeter let them know. Overall excellent margaritas. The setting is real nice with an overlook of the Riverwalk. Try the charro beans, banana wrapped tamale (great!), or the small beef tacos. The pico was pretty spicy. If you are staying at the Emma this is a very short walk. Also walk around the Pearl brewery (now the Emma and other shops). It is very unique. When done - head off to the rest of the Riverwalk or go explore San Antonio - I think La Gloria is one of the spots you should stop at - couples, or families.

La Gloria is in the heart of the pearl district, right on the river. Perfect place to have a drink and enjoy the ambience. BUT, you need a food order to eat outside. So, order an app for the table, like we did and you'll be ok. The mole was average.

Service was very good. I was a bit lost in the menu. Spanish titles, although English descriptions. I had the fish soup with tortillas. VERY Spicey. Side order of guacamole will help. Wife the tacos. She liked hers. The margaritas were very good. Have a designated driver if you have two. Tres leches and coffee for dessert. Coffee was okay, a little weak for my tastes. Tres leches a bit dry and too much lime.

We stopped in for a Wednesday night meal and loved the 2 margaritas I had (can't remember, but one had tamarind). I had the tacos al pastor. The tortillas were a bit cool, but the meat was very good. My daughter had a cheese quesadilla with pork and onions. It was a bit too much for her. The cheese was cooked on the flat top and was super greasy. I loved it, not so much for her. The wife had a carnitas tostada and the boy had a chicken taco. I find little fault in mexican food, so I am not the best reviewer. Downside to the place is they charge 5$ for chips and salsa. Week.

Were visiting the Pearl area for the first time and looking for Mexican Food that was more than just TexMex. This place had a great outdoor seating under the trees along the river and pledged to be street food. We were seated right away and began exploring the menu, surprised at the relatively low prices. Started with the guacamole and salsa and a margarita and a sangria. All very good. My wife then had the quesadilla grinda and I had the tacos dorados verdes. For sides we had the elota (corn) and the frijoles of the day. All were excellent. Music was a duo playing music that sounded a lot like Santana. Service was attentive without hovering. Toss int he fact that this place is in a really cool and entertaining Pearl Brewery area and you have a near perfect experience. Crowd was families, couples and groups of friends.

La Gloria has the best ceviche in town, and the tacos are tops. The service and ambiance are awesome, and the short walk to the Farmers Market nearby makes for an all day of entertainment and fun for family.

Excellent food, wonderful drinks and fun vibe. Great outdoor seating and it is close to The Pearl district. Our bus driver suggested it or we would have not known it was there! So glad he did. It is hidden behind The Pearl District so unless you know to look there it’s a bit hard to find. But do make the time - it was worth the effort to find it. Highly recommend

On our last night in San Antonio, my husband and I walked over from Hotel Emma to this colorful, lively restaurant, to try the tacos. We were seated immediately, and our server, Vanessa, did an amazing job explaining how the basically a la carte menu works. We ordered a queso fundido, dorados dojos, and arroz del dia. The food came out quickly, was hot, looked great and tasted even better!

Do not eat here!! Drinks are weak, beer is not cold and the food is bad. If you order guacamole it doesn’t come with chips. You have to buy chips and salsa separate!!! Chips were stale! I would expect that if you pay for chips at a Mexican place they would be fresh. Tacos meat was room temperature. This is the worst Mexican in San Antonio and one of the worst I’ve been to in my life. I am honest in all of my reviews on trip advisor. They refunded the specialty cocktail my wife ordered because it was just watermelon flavored water. It cost 14$. Don’t waste your time here. If you do...I told you so

The best experience in San Antonio must try. I visited this restaurant twice during my visit to San Antonio the food is authentic and delicious

We stopped in for a late lunch on a Wednesday and still had a 20 minute wait, but so worth it for the delicious meals we had. Fresh prepared with superb seasonings. A very well managed restaurant. We hope you like it as much as we did.

My experience was average. Had to ask for everything, napkins, utensils etc. Had No WiFi! I did not like. I It was uncomfortable environment. Food ok. I had better.

I'm sorry and I hate to do this but I need to, Went to this place yesterday night and they call themselves Mexican restaurant, number one they charge you $ 5.00 dollars for the chips that they were gross and full of grease and salt and normally are free anywhere but that's fine, Ill pay the $ 5.00 dollars if they were good. the worst is when I order a "panucho with cochinita pibil " it was the must disgusting piece of meet with a toritlla under full of grease and no taste... I have family in Merida and I know exactly how the cochinita is and this was really the worst thing I ever seen. Order a Tlayuda and again bad taste not done as it suppose to be, they say they put "Tasajo" and it was not at all. May be good to put a note that you are a TEx mex restaurant or Mix Mex restaurant but don't please advertise as Mexican restaurant. The service was okay, the waitress was from Guanajuato and I even ask him, You know how cochinita is suppose to be and look at this plate and he just say "this how we prepare it here... Never coming back again !!!

Unfortunately, this restaurant didn’t live up to the hype! Salty and greasy food and EXPENSIVE! you’ll be better off stopping by authentic food trucks dotted all over S.A. it should be called Infierno (Hell) and not gloria!

Friends and I visited La Gloria in July 2018. It seemed like there was an employee to every customer, the place was very over staffed... but we still had terrible service. And every time an employee visited our table it was some one different, we had no clue who our server was. Would love this place if management was fixed.

I went here for a group business dinner. We were supposed to be on the patio, but it was pouring rain so they moved us inside. The staff was very helpful with the whole process. They were constantly bringing out more food and were very responsive to drink orders. The food was good, and the prices were reasonable. I'd be happy to eat here again.

We stopped here as we were exploring the Pearl. It is authentic Mexican food. Try the fish tacos (3 small perfect for lunch) with a Prickly Pear margarita, so good. They have a pleasant wait staff to top it off.

House margaritas are very tasty. Not that usual sweet & sour mix, which is was a pleasant surprise. The bistec tacos are delicious and the corn tortillas were some of the best we’ve had. Claudia is an awesome server with a great personality! Would definitely come back.

We were so thrilled with our other dining experiences in the Pearl District that we assumed La Gloria would be just as good. Not so. The atmosphere is loud and cheap industrial in a building fashioned after a garage. The service was ok but the food was disappointing. The tacos are small and uninteresting, no complimentary chips and salsa, beverages served in take-out cups. There's got to be better Mexican food in San Antonio.

La Gloria is a nice Mexican restaurant with a couple locations in town. I've been to this specific location a couple times and always been glad about the choice. Good food and great margaritas. Make sure you come during for the happy hour.

We ate at La Glorias on a recommendation even though it was a bit out of our way. So glad we did. We sat outside on the river bank area beautiful setting. Food was delicious, as were the drinks. We had chips and guacamole to start. Then split order of shredded chicken tacos, grilled fish tacos, and grilled street corn. I had a mango margarita, well ok two of them, and my husband had a margarita and sangria swirl. Tacos were really really good. Corn was good but a little too spicy for my taste buds. Total bill including tip was just under $85 for two people. Overall great experience I would definitely recommend it.

La Gloria is in the very cool Pearl Complex anchored by the Hotel Emma, one of the most unique hotel properties that is a “must walk through”. Now back to La Gloria. The atmosphere and Chips & Guacamole at La Gloria were the best part of the experience, but the rest did not meet the advance hype. The margaritas and drinks (in plastic cups) were more expensive and not as good as most places we visited on our trip. Our server was friendly but service was a bit slow, not her fault as she had a lot of tables. We watched our food sit for quite a while before it was delivered by a runner. My steak tacos were cold and the meat was over cooked and chewy. My wife’s Tostada was better. It may have been one of those nights where things were not clicking, as others have posted great experiences. We would not discourage you from trying La Gloria, we just hoped for a better dining experience.

Loved this place. Queso fundido was delicious. Had Al Pastor Tacos and also with meat. Good service and friendly prices

Beautiful setting neat the River and view of sunset. Overpriced drinks, waitress served wrong food and insisted it was what I ordered. Then overcharged us for 2 sides that we never received. Will not return and will not recommend.

Coworkers and I went out for dinner and stumbled upon La Gloria, we sat down and ordered our drinks. They came out quickly at the time we ordered our appetizers and food, about 10 or 15 minutes later we were visited by the manager of the restaurant. We had not complained at all we were enjoying our drinks having a good time, he came up to the table introduced himself and apologized for the long wait on our appetizer. All of us were blown away, again we had not complained at all it just happen.

I am not sure about the negative critics. We had a delicious luncheon and our waitress was pleasant and well trained. I would definitely recommend this place for people interested in authentic Mexican food.

My husband and I love authentic Mexican cuisine!!! LaGloria is it! Our server, Claudia suggested the pork hot pot. We asked for corn tortillas but you can mix, onions, cilantro and limes. The pork was tender the chili sauce was mild and honestly you could drink it -it was so good. The chips and salsa was delish. The atmosphere was laid back. Every table has a purse/ hot stand which added a nice touch. What I thought was so cool, we watched the executive chef calling and checking orders before the wait staff picked up each order. This place was amazing. The roasted corn was omgosh delicious, the cojita cheese and crema elevated the sweet kernels of corn. Don’t sleep on the place and take the negative reviews as truth. Our experience was outstanding!!!!!

Just outstanding fresh food Great service beautiful area right on river walk Mexican street corn was best I ever had. Rice and Beans delicious. Steak tacos and the drinks my family can't say enough about this spot

I'll keep going back with visitors and even for business meetings because it's at the Pearl, you get a river view, great outside tables (and nice inside), and the meal comes complete with ducks underfoot (outside). I also like the menu. I just wish the quality of food was a bit better and the prices a little bit lower, commensurate with the quality/quantity of food you get.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. Our Uber driver told us about this and it did not disappoint! We had the molcajetes (skirt steak) and Dorados Verdes tacos. So amazing!

My husband and I loved this place. It has unique & creepy sculptures out front and wonderful outdoor seating by the water. The food was pretty good and the blended drinks were great. It's average prices and easy to find as it is right in The Pearl District. We stayed at The Westin (on the Riverwalk) and you could take the water taxi from the hotel or Uber. We Ubered and I believe that it cost $6.

We had a great lunch at La Gloria. I loved the park setting/area right next to the restaurant, making it an overall pleasing site. Although there was outdoor seating along the riverside that looked appealing, it was a bit too chilly, so we ate inside. It was certainly busy here, but we had a fantastic lunch. I ended up with the ceviche, and the roasted corn side dish - both which were absolutely fantastic, and delivered quickly. Our server was a bit harried during the busy lunch period, but still was friendly, and the food was delivered fairly quickly. I would certainly not hesitate to return here!

Five of us for dinner - sat in covered & heated patio area. If they secured the cover's flaps, it would be great - they kept blownig open & it was a cold night. First round of beers seemed to take a long time. Ordered queso and chips/salsa to start. That took what seemed like a long time too. Queso came with five mini tortillas - for five of us. We asked for more and that took forever. Finally ordered dinner. I ordered the tradicional mexican pizza. I'm not sure how you're supposed to eat this thing. Description said "black beans, cheese, avocado, tomato." So it's a large tortilla that they fry crispy and then spread black beans on it & sprinkle cheese. Then they put a heavy layer of shredded iceburg lettuce with 4 little tomato slices and 4 little avocado slices. Not what I pictured - and really difficult to eat. The descritiption did not say anything about lettuce... Anyhow - everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. I don't think I would go back.

Situated on the river walk in Pearl district. Nice outdoor seating with river walk view. We stopped by on Sunday, early evening, and it was already starting to get busy. Two of us had the Pescado Baja Califas (fish tacos) and really enjoyed them. Came as 3 small tacos, it was enough for a meal for me. Service was good.

My wife and I went out Sunday evening for an early dinner. We stopped in at La Gloria near the Pearl.. What a disappointment and waste of money.. My wife order Coctel Campechano and I had the Tacos Al Pastor, rice and beans. Including a bowl of guacamole.. The food was horrible, tasteless and over seasoned. Not to mention over priced.. It's a tourist trap, I would not recommend this restaurant.. I can't imagine any good reviews of this place unless it's the business writing there own reviews.. Save yourself the disappointment and they elsewhere..

Lively bar scene with good small plates of tacos and other Mexican treats. The food is Mexican not Tex-Mex but it's northern Mexican not Mexico City fare. Plus it's street food. Great place for a drink before going to a more formal high end Pearl restaurant or for drinks, conversation and street food.

The food was fine. The menu was unique. I liked the Tacos al Pastor without onions, but they were pretty plain and don't come with anything on the side. You should order something to go with them like guac or beans (see pic). The chips and salsa weren't enjoyable. Even though the chips had a good light crispiness to them, they were overcooked, and the salsa needed more tomato base in it. The vegetarian tostada was small for $6 and looked like it was mostly iceberg lettuce. If you like mayonnaise, the elote (corn on the cob) looked unique. The enchiladas verdes de queso looked like it was all sauce for $14, but I didn't taste it. The margaritas were good and not weak, but nothing special. The location is nice, next to the river, but we were seated at a table where we couldn't see the river; so ask for a table with a view. The patio had an enjoyable atmosphere and was nicely decorated. Our waiter was a little weird (thought he was funny when he wasn't and we felt like we had to laugh at him), but the manager was really nice. It was hard to find a Mexican restaurant with a river view and good reviews that wasn’t overpriced! I would probably come here again for that reason, but I would bring my own chips and salsa.

I really enjoyed the food. Not your typical tex-mex or mexican restaurant which was nice. Good food, good environment, good service. We sat outside and enjoyed our meal.

Wow! We went there with friends for dinner and the ceviche was off the charts! We had two different types and both were tasty and fresh (we even came back the next day to try the verde ceviche). The chips were incredibly fresh and crispy with just the right amount of salt. We also had two of the house specialties: the chicken mole and the brisket. Amazingly flavorful and tasty. The servers were attentive and very welcoming and the location right on the bank of the river was fun. Lots of fun sculptures of Dia de los Muertos figures abounded. Kid and dog friendly too!

The only thing going for this place is the location and the cute decor outside. The food is not Tex Mex that we are all use to. It is not good. It is overpriced. The drinks are watered down. They automatically charge gratuity for 6 people and did not bother to say. Interesting that they did not say that and forgot my plate, yet I am expected to pay 20% just because? Tipping is based on service and if it is worth it. They did not bring us chips and salsa until we asked for it. They did not refill the bowls either. The chips are thick and burnt. The salsa was blah. They also did not bother to say that a side of rice and black beans are $4.20 and of course they asked the kids if they wanted it. We did not realize that as there is no menu and you have to study it off your phone. Just dont go there.

Service was really slow for a Monday night, the food was mediocre and a bit pricey (they charge extra for chips, entree's don't come with sides).

Stopped in for quick lunch, ordered a couple drink witch tasted watery, reorder, both still had no flavor. We did have some ceviche that was good, however, the poor drinks stopped us from ordering any lunch.

We had reservations for 10. The table was ready when we arrived. However, the table was in the sun and they had not prepared for us by putting the shade down. So....that was a big production. The server seemed efficient but got several of the orders and the tickets mixed up....we lived with it but kind of changed the experience. Would I go back....probably not....so many good restaurants there.

We stopped in for lunch after a long week of hotel food. Even with the lunch rush, the service was first class. The food was amazing. I had the ahogada carnitas torta--which I initially regretted because of the tomato sauce but the flavor was AWESOME. The chips were fresh-fried. My Missus had the pastor tacos which she enjoyed but she still hijacked half the carnitas off my sandwich. She also had the corn on the cob and we shared the (fresh-made) guacamole. Oh, the salsa was phenomenal. This was our last meal out before our lockdown in Houston. If we survive this flustercuck we will probably make the drive to San Antonio just for those carnitas and salsa.

Good margaritas, generous pickles and good care. The restaurant has a country atmosphere, relaxed and pleasant. If I would come back!!!!

My husband, son and I found La Gloria in the Pearl area shortly after arriving in San Antonio. The food was delicious and the restaurant has a very fun ambiance. Our waiter, Andre explained the menu well and provided great ideas on where to go in the city. It was a wonderful welcome to San Antonio!!

Came here for Christmas. Was here on December 23 at the advice of our concierge at the hotel where we are, who lives in the area. Said he and his family go as often as possible. Good outdoor seating, family and dog friendly, affordably priced. We all got various tacos, taste like street tacos (compliment!!). Emily, waitress was wonderful, attentive, and kind. Nice to get away from Riverwalk & higher-end places. Pearl area is fun to stroll. Highly recommend!

Guy I was really really looking forward to have this food and special when I heard you have a whole fish, I drive in Houston an hour and half for it and this time in San Antonio I only had it 10 minutes away, so you can imagine how my mouth was, waiting for it...well ;-( The fish had two sauces to choose from and I picked the one the waitress recommended, well she didn’t advise that it was SUPER, but extremely SALTY to the point it was hard to tell any of the flavours in the sauce, I thought it was the sauce only, but the salad on the side it was very salty too, everything was very salty and lack of flavour which I blame to the amount of salt, I could not enjoy the taste of chilli, limes or anything beside the salt. I asked an explanation why it was this salty and the waitress answer it is the sauce, reallyyyy so why you don’t advice or should be showed in the menu. The other dish which it was pork, it was a bit tough and really nothing special, as a pork should be very tender and almost melt in your mouth, well it was not. And I want to add one thing restaurants guys, do not treat customers like they work there or know the food. I am not Mexican and either live in San Antonio, so honestly I don’t know every single Mexican dish, part of the experience for me it is too learn where I am going to and do not feel dumb if I ask what is it??? The two stars are for the two glasses of coconut water helped me to eat a bit of the fish. Still craving for a whole fish!

Is there any place better? We drive to San Antonio just to eat here. You can’t leave without having the Queso fundido - outstanding. The tacos and ceviche are wonderful, and the service and drinks are top tier. We love the relaxed atmosphere - but not a relaxed quality menu.

My wife and I walk the river walk walk and stop a different restaurant each time. People said to try La Gloria by Pearl. We got a set right by the river. It was 3:00PM we are retired and that is our lunch/dinner time. No problem ever getting a sit. The Julia served us and explained everything on the menu. Made a few suggestions based on how much we wanted to eat. We tried the Pierce Chile molcajete, it served two and was a pork in a chili sauce. She explained it would fall apart on the shells. You could not cut it with a knife. I judge a restaurant on the food they serve and how they handle mistakes. Because things always go wrong. Julia looked at the problem we were having and said that was not the way it should be and call the manager over. He right away said that was not right and suggested we have the beef substitute (which was more money) and said it would be at the lower price. It was one of the best meal I have had in a long time. We also ordered Panucho-chochinita Pibil and tostadas Pollo. Both great. We did take home some for another meal. This is a stop on our river walk day trip route in the future

Cool location and we were excited to sit outside. Couldn't have certain things on the menu because the ovens were down. Waited ages for our watery drinks. And when we asked for condiments to add to our meal, waited at least 15 minutes for it to come to the table. Service in general was a bit slow, from seating to drinks to tableside on a night that they weren't very busy. Food was ok. We may try again.....

My daughter and I visited San Antonio. Just mother daughter. We discovered the Pearl District and La Gloria. Fabulous! We experimented and did not regret a single bite. Lovely location and good food!

I feel like I was at a different restaurant than other reviewers. This was without doubt the worst meal I have had in the last two weeks of eating out every day while on holiday. I was so excited to eat what I thought was going to be traditional Mexican food. What we got might have been traditional but at someone’s house who couldn’t cook! The only redeeming factor was our host Jaimie who tried his best to rectify our issues. We let him know we were in a hurry and he made sure our food came out quickly. My glass of wine tasted like the glass had been washed in tequila. Jaimie graciously got me another glass and it was also awful. My partner tried it and his screwed up face said it all. I then ordered a champagne, it was ok. Our chicken tacos were bland and tasteless, iceberg lettuce and flavourless tomato. The cheese dip was nice to start with but very quickly solidified and we should have gone with the original as the chorizo addition was horrible. Overall very disappointing, especially as it was in the Pearl Brewery area. We should have stayed at Cured.

As a native San Antonian, we are often leaned on for suggestions for places to eat. If you want Tex-Mex, feel free to pick any of dozens, if not hundreds, of great places. However, if you want a place that encompasses great Mexican food with even greater margaritas and arguably the best location in San Antonio. I've had many different dishes here and they've (almost) all met or exceeded my expectations. The one exception is the Mexican Pizza (I forget what it's called on the menu) that I ordered. It was just bland. EVERYTHING else has been delicious. Seriously, take your pick based on what you like (my go to are the Potosinos). Then pair it with the margarita of your choice. Sit back, enjoy your meal, savor your beverage, and take in the local view along the less-touristy part of the riverwalk.

Went on Saturday March 16, 2019 to LaGloria, The wait wasn’t bad to get a table but after you sat down that’s when the problems started. I don’t feel they have enough waiters to see to everyone. We waited around 10 minutes before someone was able to come over and get our drink orders then we waited another 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Then we ordered after order was in that’s another 41 minutes for the food to arrive once the food reach the table pizza was the shell with a bean paste on it and some lettuce no cheese no nothing just beans and lettuce and that was the pizza, the taco nothing we had, had any type of seasoning on it. nothing I mean it is like someone just forgot to put some type any type of seasoning it was just bland and then they sprinkled some mozzarella cheese on top the fish they had a sauce on there that was not mentioned in the description of the food and the food was cold after returning the fish to the waiter that was another 30 minutes to get a new fish taco so this was not a pleasant visit to this restaurant and the waiter not one time came back and ask do we want something to drink or did we want him to refill our glasses they were certainly empty. I believe that because it’s on a tourist route a lot of people go there thinking that the food is good but the food that I had on Saturday was not in so I’m giving this restaurant a thumbs down

Went here today and he vibe is similar to the Riverwalk but the drinks aren’t that good. Got an El Fresco which had Fresh Basil, Kiwi Fruit, Cucumber, Brugal Rum Blanco.

La Gloria at The Pearl was a perfect spot on our first day in San Antonio. Perfect weather in November led us to sit in the shaded area outside. Rocky Q, our server, mentioned he was new but he did everything he could to make this a great meal! We had a member in our party that is allergic to onions and Rocky checked with the chef to make sure what she ordered was prepared that way. It was and she mentioned her meal was so good she wanted to go back. Rocky also recommended the Tejanas Chicken which was delicious. The Pescado Baja Meal or fish tacos was a tasty choice too! Since we did not get a chance to go back for a second meal this trip will definitely be back on the next one!

First time at this location, and wished I had kept it simple with just a couple of tacos. We seemed to miss on almost everything we ordered. Wife and I generally spend a week every year with friends who live in Mexico, and have eaten in local restaurants from Veracruz to Acapulco, and many points in between, so we know Mexican from Tex-Mex. Wife ordered the mole sope, single sope, and it was the spiciest thing I have ever tasted called mole. I ordered the ceviche veracruzano, hoping for ceviche like I eat at Villa Rica in Veracruz, and it was barely edible. Lime juice was overwhelming all the other favors, could not taste the fish at all. Nicest view of the river if weather is nice is best thing about this place, and a free parking lot close by.

Everything we ate was very good. Try all the street tacos, they are super. I think the pork is Best...but it’s tough to pick a favorite. Can be crowded and loud...plan accordingly.

We were told this restaurant was fantastic, but wasn’t impressed. Pricey food. Way too many flies. There was so many flies out on the patio area that we asked to be moved inside. Drinks were good. Guacamole was excellent, but pricey for the small amount you received. Chips and salsa were not free. I prefer thin tortilla chips over the thick hard ones they serve here. My chicken street tacos were tasty. My husband had the ham and cheese quesadilla. Said it was good, but too many tortillas.

We love to visit La Gloria when we’re at the Pearl. Its dog-friendly patio has a view of the waterfalls near Hotel Emma. (Just don’t sit under the trees during grackle season). The interior Mexican “street food” is authentic and reliable. It’s also surprisingly affordable for the Pearl. My favorite thing on the menu is the Veracruz style ceviche. It’s fresh, light, and delicious - perfect for a hot night when I don’t want anything heavy. The small tacos are also great for the meat-eaters in the crowd. People who are gluten-free and dairy-free can get a good meal here. The drinks are a bit overpriced, but the basic margarita is good and not excessively sweet. The only downside is that the service is a bit slow - but if you come here to relax, that’s not a big deal.

I'm sitting outside being blasted by some "musician" to the point where I cannot even hear myself. Spending good money on a Saturday night the service is ok but why is this horrible guitarist with speakers screaming in my ear? Get rid of him please so I can have some conversation during my meal. This guy is really bad!!!

Take the trip to the Pearl area. This is probably the best Margarita we have had anywhere! Food was good.. Chips and salsa were superb. Service good. This is the real deal.

This is more Mexican than the Tex-Mex we are used too in Florida. We loved our choices but the names were not familiar (Spanish). Service was great and the Margaritas delightful!

I really didn't want my experience with this meal to end. It was that good. It was such a great experience and fun outdoor atmosphere. And did I say my meal was excellent? Our daughter's friend chose this location for lunch ordering what she recommended. I have a photo of what it was, but unsure what the name is. The meat was the most tender meat in a wonderful savory Mole sauce. My taste receptors were off the chart. I have had Mole sauce in many establishments across the United States. This reminded me of what I have had in Mexico. I decided Mole wasn't for me from the salty representations throughout USA. But this place had it right. Our daughter just moved to San Antonio. I can't wait to go back. La Gloria provided a different level of my favorite food on the planet. Outstanding.

The area where the restaurant was located was charming. However, it took a good twenty minutes in heavy traffic to park. The walk was a few blocks, but the scenery was nice & the evening was beautiful so we didnt mind. My companion was attending a meeting there, so I was on my own. Have had my share of TexMex & dishes of New Mexico, California, but never sampled Mexican Street food. I had the tlayudas (Mexican pizza-pork). Loved it. The "crust" reminded me a of a pupusa but stuffed w/black beans w/a thicker crispier shell encasing them. It was topped w/shredded pork & pickled red onion. It was not as spicy as general Tex-Mex nor too salty. I love spicy but the flavor of the beans & especially the pork was so exceptional-more spice may have actually detracted from/masked the flavors. The pickled onion was appealing visually & was a nice addition. Caramel flan for dessert. I've eaten (& prepared) many servings of flan & this was among the best I've ever tasted. Wait staff-we were greeted promptly & cordially, seated immediately. My drink order was taken promptly as was the food order. We were very pleased w/our server-attentive, polite, very willing to answer questions & make suggestions. The other wait staff was also very cordial, smiling & making eye contact. Even though the wait was not very long, servers in the general area also checked on me to see if I needed anything. I was so impressed I asked to speak to the manager, something I rarely do. He was very gracious. The next time I am SA, I will return.

I've been here twice -- the first time was late summer, when it's miserable outside. And this is an issue because even inside is somewhat outside -- this restaurant is not really sealed against the elements. However, both visits were ok/good from an environmental perspective -- assuming you can handle some variation due to seasonal temperature fluctuations. The concept here is Mexican street food -- it's a medium-sized menu with lots of hand-sized options and some ludicrously large ones. I would recommend the elotes and Mexican pizza and ceviche, but I also saw some mouth watering molcajete go by. Extensive drink menu and an adequate dessert menu, with aguas frescas and paletas. The patio is dog- and kid-friendly, service is friendly, and the place is laidback. I didn't really have to wait either time that I visited, a little before dinner time. Two thumbs up.

Was not authentic Tex-Mex! Food was cold, tortillas hard and overall over-priced. Margarita was only bright spot. I would not recommend.

Staff made me feel welcome and very comfortable as a solo diner when the restaurant was fairly busy. My server, Jess, was friendly. She gave me useful feedback on the menu items I was considering. The food I ordered (ceviche, guacamole and queso fundido) was great. The service was a bit slow. When entering and departing, it seemed the area near the hostess stand was congested/a little chaotic/awkward due to how it is designed. Given the food and friendliness of the service, I would definitely go back. Choosing from 5+ different kinds of ceviche was a wonderful thing!

We had a late lunch at La Gloria yesterday. Our indoor table overlooked the river which added to the ambience of this bustling eatery. Their menu provides ample opportunities to try several small portions...something we love to do. For a starter we shared the Coctel de Camaron (Mexican-Style shrimp cocktail) which was my favorite of our choices. It contained an ample amount of perfectly cooked, plump shrimp, and the tomato based mixture with pico de gallo had enough kick to make it interesting but not overwhelming. It was topped with a nice addition of avocado slices. Yum! Then we ordered Guacamole, Elote, and two versions of the street tacos....Al Pastor and Puerquito Echato. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and delicious. The Elote (roasted corn, crema, cotija cheese, and chile) was the standout. Our waitress (wish I remembered her name) was very cordial and willing to answer our questions. The total experience here was delightful, and our bill (including a beer and margarita) was @ $50. plus gratuity.

the place is located in the old La Perla Brewery and is a nice Bar where you could get some fast-street-mexican snacks. The idea is a place to get together with friends or customers and enjoy drinks. I do not recommend for lunch or dinner but ft or cool-off. I visited the airport branch and the "cochinita" was very good, but here was bad and disspaointing. The service is great and the chairs very,... verry uncomfortable !

A different type of Mexican food and a bit over priced but the view is almost worth it. Nice outdoor seating by the river area and very enjoyable to sit outside on those sunny days and have a drink. Great place to take out-of-towners but not a place for locals to go on a regular basis.

We enjoyed our lunch here. My husband had a torta - sandwich of pork on a brioche bun and he said it was great! I had the grilled fish street tacos - very fresh and tasty.

Fish Tacos were excellent but would have been much better if they were delivered with everyone elses meal and while they were hot. Only one server outside so service was extremely slow.

Good customer service. The menu needs to provide pictures with the name of the plate, not just the name of the food. The picture would provide the customer an idea of what it is. We had the Steak Mojacahete and a Seafood Tostada. The food was delicious and very fulfilling. Recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to the city or someone looking for excellent food. Atmosphere is nice offering both inside and outside sitting.

Our Uber driver recommended this place and the food was excellent. The pork quesadilla was the best ever! Good margaritas to boot!

Called asked if we could make reservations. They said first come first served. So we went to the restaurant put are name in and waited. We were a family of 5. After an hour of waiting and watching numerous groups enter that had came after us. We should have just went to another restaurant. But didn’t want to start over. Food was just ok.

We ate outside at this very down to earth restaurant . Very good food and the drinks were great. Service good and at sunset we saw the bats come out to fly. Located in the pearl district a good choice.

Three of us went on a Sunday just before dusk. Had drinks while waiting for a table. Mangonatta, Prickly Pear Margarita and Sandip (watermelon flavor) were all tasty and potent at $10-13 each. Bar service was friendly and drinks well prepared. Food service could use improvement on explaining menu options and on attention to water, napkins, and general availability to carry through the meal. Tiny Pork tacos were good, but less than a teaspoon of filling on each. Mexican Pizza with shredded beef was also tasty, but quite small. Pork molcajete also tender and savory but not really outstanding enough to justify the near-$20 price tag. Spent roughly $120 on three drinks and some appetizers. Nice location, and not much more expensive than other options in and around the Hipster Pearl Area.

Good margaritas to start. A variety were available. Fish tacos were very good. Charge extra for the chips and salsa.

Queso Fundido, Queso Fundido, Queso Fundido Get the queso fundido with chorizo, one of the best thing I've ever eaten. The street tacos are also great, both the Al Pastor and the Bistec Especial

A terrific spot off the Riverwalk in the Pearl area. Situated on the River with closed in or open patio seating. Traditional Mexican street food. Order small plates to share. Service is friendly and quick. Food is amazing. Recommend the beef quesadilla in a corn tortilla. Really delicious.

So at this price point I expect either something unique or something truly authentic in an unexpected place. This is San Antonio- good tacos are everywhere. So not number two. As to number one - the taco menu gives you a lot of options. But you get two and there are no mix and match options. I tried one style, my wife tried another (so I tried two....) They weren’t bad but, there was nothing special about them. Two beers, two orders of tacos (no sides), guac, and chips - $45 (tax and tip included). Enough said.

We ordered 5 different items and some drinks. The beef tacos were the best of them. The drinks were not our favorite but the rest of the food made up for it. It was fun to sit outside and see the river walk. They also let you leave and walk around the area with your drinks.

We were excited to visit La Gloria and did find some things that we liked: free parking in the garage for everything in the Pearl district, great trendy area and we got a seat within 5 minutes as a party of two on a Saturday at 5:30. But the rest of our experience didn’t live up to our expectations. My husband finished his meal of three tacos before my order of tlayudas (Mexican pizza) arrived. His tacos were small and boring in flavor unless he added the spicy house salsa. And my “pizza” was big and awkward to eat. Pick it up and it collapses, but good luck trying to eat it with a fork & knife. And it was also boring in flavor. I understand that this restaurant serves traditional Mexican fare and not the Americanized version we’re used to, but still...do we have to choose between bland and spicy hot? No in-between? All in all we wouldn’t return. The only thing worth the hype was the Pearl district. Find another restaurant up there and enjoy!

Johnny Hernandez is pretty close to chef royalty in the Southwest. And I've been to La Gloria at least once before and enjoyed it. This last visit, though, disappointed. The margarita tasted watered down, with little of either tequila or lime flavor. One diners sopas didn't come with the promised options. It was described by the diner as tasting, "like boiled chicken". And the machine for making the mango margaritas was broken, thus disappointing two of our party.

Visiting the Pearl Brewery in San Antonio is a great place to dine for couples. The service was excellent and the location next to the Riverwalk is fun. I've heard great things about La Gloria and chef Johnny Hernandez but our dinner tonight lacked flavor and freshness. The chips were stale and greasy and the margaritas seemed to be poured from a mix. Sadly, this location does not offer a happy hour. La Gloria attracts many tourists because of it's publicity on the Food Network but it's not one of my favorite Mexican cuisine restaurants in San Antonio.

We brought friends here about a year ago and were very pleased. This time around both service and food have deteriorated. The server took and served our orders and we never saw her again. Prices are outrageous for what you get. The tacos were small and nothing special for $7.89 each. $12- for chili con queso and we had to ask another server to give us more chips. We did not know that there was an extra charge for a few pieces of jalapeno. You can get a better meal else where for less money.

La Gloria is a cool little spot situated next to the river at the Pearl Brewery complex. Like many of the places at the Pearl, it has a relaxed industrial vibe. I had the battered fish tacos and they were quite good--crunchy and flavorful. Tacos, quesadillas, tostadas and such make up the bulk of the menu. The food is good and the atmosphere is relaxing, making for a nice place to meet up with some friends for a cold beer and satisfying Mexican fare.

Great food! The grapefruit margarita was really refreshing also. I got the chicken tacos with a verde sauce and it was amazing! Tastes just like a taco truck and I can’t wait to go back!!! Always busy do plan accordingly.

Our large group of 17 booked in advance and went with a set menu. Charitable organization with F&B budget. I live here - Will not return. Many better options for Mexican, whether Tex Mex or authentic Mexican cuisines in San Antonio. Plus and this was the real suffering - some of our group were blinded for the whole meal bc the sun blasted through the windows directly hitting the guests. It is Texas in August, about 99-100 degrees. Asked the servers to help, no empathy or sympathy, basic message "it is what it is, happens every day!" Also - not enough diversity in the courses for set menus, lots of small bits of meat (chicken) with sauce drizzles in hard and soft shells. Ceviche was singularly sour and unflavorful (lots of olives to fill it up). Hard to justify value and experience with all in cost of $34 per person, after tax and 20% auto gratuity.

Strong margaritas, great patio if it had not been cold and windy! Chips were ok, salsa was good, I enjoyed chicken n bacon n cheese tacos no tortilla with lettuce being healthy. Friends had the cup of elotes for the 1st time with a shrimp dish and loved the two mixed together, a new menu item? Other friend had a bean tostada and avocado tostada and cleaned her plate.

Loved the food - the chips and salsa are the best I've ever had - Mexican Pizza and Chicken tacos and guacamole were very delicious. Wait staff was great too. Really liked that to go cups are provided for beverages.

(This is not a joke). Three gringos walk into La Gloria based on a recommendation that the food is great and authentic. The three gringos eat in restaurants all over the world, but know nothing about Mexican food. The three gringos are hesitant as to how they will order. We then met out server Rafa. Here is a man who enjoys his work and did all that he could to make our experience wonderful. Rafa ordered for us - chorizo questo, taco-al Pastor and sopes-chicarron. I cannot describe what was in each except the first was a wonderful baked cheese dish will sweet peppers and meat, the taco had the best grilled pork and corn in a sweet-sour sauce, and the chicarrones were soft in a slightly spicy sauce. Each was served with warn home-made corn and flour tortillas. On Rafa's recommendation, we finished with flan cajets - not a chocolate but more of a caramel flavored flan. We were told that the chef-owner had toured Mexico to return with the best representative street food from each region. Success.

Food, drinks, service, ALL were amazing. Rosalinda rocks la Gloria. House margarita was exceptional. I don’t even know what we ordered but Rosalinda suggested it and I was thrilled. The manager came by twice to make sure we were happy, and YES we were!

We were here about one year ago and had a slight issue with a staff member. This trip was completely different! The food came out quickly and was delicious. Highly recommend it if you're looking for lunch in the area.

If we ate at La Gloria Ice House at a time and date when it wasn't at capacity I'll be my review would be better. The food we had was just okay, but also moderately priced. The atmosphere right on the river with most table outside was quite fun. However, the service was pitiful, both in timing and friendliness. I wouldn't go back.

Loved the food and the relaxed ambiance. We sat on the patio, ordered sopes and an octopus tostada and micheladas. It was delicious. The service was fast and courteous. So, we had a great time.

It was 98 degrees with 106 heat index so we were looking for something definitely cool for dinner and we found it here. Ceviche to start, the traditional tho I think they offer 4 or 5 different types, and it was fresh and pretty good but a little too much lime. Next we split a Torre Dr Mariscos, it was excellent and definitely hit the spot on such a hot day. Service & drinks are good. Pearl is right Dow the riverwalk you should give it a try.

The ambiance, location, and food here are perfect! I like to sit outside and there are plenty of shady spots. My favorite dish is the shredded beef quesadillas and of course any of the margaritas they are known for!!!

This review is long overdue but I can't stop thinking about what an incredible meal we had! It's been almost 2 years and I can't wait to go back to San Antonio just to eat at La Gloria. I had the pork molcajete and the ceviche verde, and my son had the queso fundido with rajas and the cochinita pibil. We shared everything and had a lot to take home. As I said, it's been almost 2 years since my last visit to SATX and I *still* remember what we ate. **I chose Aug 2021 as my travel date because that was the earliest available. It was actually November 2020!**

I was showing a friend from out of town around the Pearl and we decided to have lunch at La Gloria. We each ordered a frozen margarita and some of the street tacos, my bistec especiale tacos were terrible, dried out everything, meat, cheese and the corn tortilla's were like leather. The prickley pear marg's were really good but we thought $11 for a frozen margarita was a little steep.

We checked out La Gloria's based on several recommendations from people at nearby Trinity University. It was a great day to sit out on the patio and we appreciated the view of the river. There were outdoor heaters on the patio but they weren't needed on the afternoon we visited. I asked the waiter for some suggestions and my son and I each tried something different and we shared our dishes. I chose the Taco-puercito Echado which was described as 3 spiced pork tacos. It came with a small dish of diced onions and cilantro. I thought it was a perfect portion size. It was very tasty, not very hot spicy, and different from most tacos that I've had. The pork was very crispy and the seasoning tasted great. My son ordered the cemita de Milanesa which was a breaded beef cutlet on a bun served with a side of house made potato chips. The sandwich was unusual and tasty and the chips were fabulous. It was obvious that they were not your typical bagged chips. Food came out promptly and our waiter was attentive and refilled my son's drink. Service was fine until it was time to leave and our waiter hadn't come around with the bill. I eventually flagged another waiter who sent our waiter over. It was overall a wonderful experience and I hope to come back and try some other dishes.

Big prices for tiny portions. Quesadilla the size of a street taco with burnt cheese. Street tacos very watery and when we questioned our waitress as to where the cheese we paid extra for was we were told to push the filling aside to see it. Sandwich which was dry came with homemade chips. 1/3 good, 1/3 soggy and 1/3 stale. Don’t ask for chips or salsa because they’ll charge you. We were aware but should have passed as they weren’t that good. Way too thick. $110 bill for appetizer size food. Never again.

I have traveled extensivley in Mexico and yes this does have some relationship to the street food I have found in certain Cities but it is more unique to the Chef/Owner of this restaurant. It is good food but not great. The setting on the San Antonio river is great and the drinks are cold - what more do you want.

While in San Antonio we were directed to La Gloria along the river and at the and of a section of the River Walk. It is near the art museum and close to other downtown venues. There is parking along the street as well as other parking options close by. There is outside dining that is great on a good day. There are many drink variations. The food is tasty and well prepared. While some may consider it pricy, the quality and tastiness of the food is worth it. Service during the rush is reasonable and efficient. It is well worth the stop for lunch and worth a return visit.

Nice relaxing patio to savor Mexican street tacos & an excellent margarita! Stroll down to see the river! This is a packed house most of the time so if yu don't want to wait, come during off hours.

This was so highly rated that I was very disappointed in the dry tacos al pastor. The chicken were ok.

I went to La Gloria with a business partner recently for dinner. I had not been there for several years and had forgotten how much I liked it. Our waiter was very helpful with suggestions, and was attentive, without being a pest. We shared the Molcajete with beef. It was fantastic. We also enjoyed the guacamole. La Gloria has some interesting cocktails, also. They are pleasantly different from those on many nearby menus. They are tasty, and pack a punch. La Sandia, a watermelon based cocktail, was awesome. I will not wait so long before my next visit.

Very authentic delicious Mexican food. Award winning margaritas. Great service good prices. We had the tacos and guacamole

We did the river shuttle to Pearl Brewing and found this Mexican place for lunch. Might be the best Mex I've ever had. There was just the yummiest sauce on all of the meats we tried. It was the most memorable meal of our 10 day trip.

Margaritas that keep you “enlighten” ... more bang for your buck menu!! Ask the wait staff for local favorites you can’t go wrong ... sometimes there are entrees offered that are not on the menu — like enchiladas verdes!! The side dish — Elote is roasted corn in a creme mixture that is fabulous and hot hot hot!! Love this place ... enjoy :)

I was very excited to try this place, Pearl is one of my favorite places when I visit San Antonio. We were celebrating my daughter’s 23rd birthday and this is the place she chose to have her family and friends.. we were a group of 8, and waited about an hour and a half for a table, which we were happy to do. Once we were seated, the service was great. They say they’re food is Mexican street style, and the menu had very reasonable pricing. Since we were celebrating, we all wanted to order margaritas, the waitress told us: “you can choose any tequila and we will make a margarita for you” Perfect!! We chose Don Julio, thought that a $15 margarita would be good. Ordered appetizers and then our entrees. The margarita was a little on the weak side for a $15 Rita, but it was good. Entrees were just OK, the beef on the taco was very dry, but it was tasty. Now, here comes the bill, we had separate checks, and much to our surprise, for the 3 of us it was $250!!! I’m attaching a copy of our bill, so that you can see all the ridiculous charges. Be careful when they suggest, they WILL charge. For our 2nd margarita, she suggested adding cucumbers, ok sure, they charged for the cucumbers! The $15 margarita ended up being a $20 margarita. They even charged us for Salsa for our chips!!! Oh let’s look at the Flour Tortilla fee, oh and the Pico charge. Us telling the server that our margarita was weak gave us a tequila shot of $15, that we did not ask for, and we thought she was being nice! Oh and by the way, to make your Don Julio into a margarita means an additional $3.50!! On the menu the Don Julio is $15, they charged us $16.50 and when we brought it up, all she said was sorry, and did not offer to fix. To top it off, they insisted on an 18% tip. I will NEVER go back and will make sure to tell everyone about my experience

Let me be fair-if you are used to typical Tex-Mex food this is not your restaurant. Tacos are their focus and authentic Mexican fare their strength, though limited. Seems to be a popular post work hangout for younger set.

The atmosphere was definitely inviting, but the service and the food were very disappointing. The portions were small; the taste lack-luster.

Very pedestrian Mexican food for this area. There was no special flavor to any of the food. Salsa was OK. Chips were just that, very small chips making dipping virtually impossible. We all did agree the guacamole was very good. Prices are a bit high forvthe food quality. The best part ofvthe LA Gloria experience was the Riverwalk view. In our 3 days in San Antonio we had much better Mexican food.

This was the first restaurant stop of our trip. We were not disappointed. Started with a prickly pear margarita, perfect combination of sweet and tart. Very refreshing. Then had two of the Sopes, they were incredible. The pickeled onion on the shredded beef was spot on. The marinated pork was a kick in the tastebuds. The star for me was the Elote. It was a creamy, sweet, cheesy little delight. I could have eaten my weight in this stuff. The only criticism I have is their salsa was so spicy it rendered it inedible for most of us at the table. The service was good, especially for how busy they were on a Friday night. I will absolutely go again.

Nice little place on the river next to The Pearl. Lots of outdoor seating. Great margaritas and tacos. We will be back!

We actually found this place by accident. We were looking for another one but gps was going crazy. But always for a good reason. The food was amazing our waitress was super attentive and very nice. I ate the fish tacos my wife ate a torta. I will definately be back. We got lucky we didn't have to make a reservation but probably a good idea. I will save this place and definately come back when we are here

Pretty solid mid range Mexican food. Friendly staff. Decent sized drink menu. Really enjoyed the salsa they had with the salsa and chips.

Ordered the queso, the consistency was like pizza cheese and instead of tortilla chips, they had tortillas. Very difficult to eat. Not what I was expecting. Will not return.

We stopped at the Pearl district to look around. We decided to eat at La Gloria to be by the river. We were so pleased with the food! Tamale, tacos, salsa, and tomato quesadilla, all were fantastic! I highly recommend this place!

We went here for lunch - they have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It's calm outside by the River. We had the tacos and - and they were able to accommodate gluten free for someone with Celiac Disease. It is north of downtown but we took a bus north to the Pearl District. where La Gloria is at the north east corner of the district.

Nice patio with a view. La Gloria is listed on several articles as a good place with kids. I would disagree. It's okay, does have some room for the kids to explore. The drinks were terrible, I had a mojito, my husband had a margarita and then a beer; the margarita tasted like someone added salt to it. The food was okay, and free chips and salsa, had enchiladas, which were good, but we wanted to celebrate arriving in town after a long drive with 2 kids and the drinks were not very good.

We ere wandering around the Pearl Brewery development, which the tour books told us was the Next Big Thing after the Riverwalk. We found it sterile and the restaurants unimaginative clones with nothing of creativity to show Sadly, although the Culinary Institute of America has opened its third branch here, its student restaurant's menu was equally uninspired, so we wandered over to La Gloria, and thank goodness we did. We were seated right on the edge of the Riverwalk, and could watch the bird life and relax by the water. And the food and margaritas were excellent, particularly the elote and the superb and perfectly balanced Veracruz ceviche. This is an unpretentious and laid back restaurant where you can take your time and get your fill at a very reasonable price.

When you visit the Pearl you must eat here. The food is delicious and the wait staff are friendly. I have been a few times and will come back.

We each ordered a plate of tacos and a side to share. Also got a marg to split. Everything was delicious, I would highly recommend.

Amazing location overlooking the river, nice patio area with plenty of shade. We enjoyed our tacos and sopes and a couple of ice cold modelo's. What more could you want on a sunny day in SA.

The food was average. Queso was good. The reason for the poor rating is the unethical service. When the server handed us (party of 5) our check she intentionally folded it to hide the 18% gratuity that had been automatically added. We would have tipped more than 18% because she was actually a very good server, but I guess she'd rather take the chance and get double-tipped. I'm sure she has made quite a bit of money at this restaurant, as many people do not notice this unethical tactic. Unfortunately, it was very crowded and service was extremely slow so we did not get the satisfaction of confronting her but we did leave our comments on the receipt. Shame on this restaurant for allowing this type of behavior.

Had a wait time of an hour and a half (which was to be expected). Once seated, the waiter hardly spoke English. The food I ordered was terrible. The waiter hardly ever checked on us. When I returned my food due to the old taste of the shrimp I was never asked if I wanted anything else, he just took my food and walked away. Only other time I saw the waiter was when I had asked for the check. This place was recommended by a friend that lives in the area and goes there often. Let's just say she was extremely embarrassed to have recommended this place and I was extremely disappointed as I brought a group of friends with me and talked this place up only to have been proved completely wrong. NEVER again! The staff needs some serious training.

Honestly, I don't know about Mexican street food or why La Gloria chose that image. Gloria has an interesting, pretty sophisticated menu of tasty well-prepared items. This was our first visit, last week ... Queso fundido tradicional was rich, spicy and delicious. Same for the ceviche a la campechana -- a huge serving with shrimp, whitefish, big chunks of scallop, in a tomato preparation spicy enough to be pretty exciting. The "blue" margarita, their house specialty with blue curacao, was very good ... and the prickly pear margarita was really different and tasted great. My Spanish is okay, just saying, don't count on the wait staff for great English. But you can expect good welcoming service. We will be back.

the location is the reason why i gave it a 1 star, visiting the Pearl, craving mexican food, stopped by this place, took 7 minutes to have a table (😊); the chips were hard and the salsa was way too hot with no detectable flavor (😭) the avocado dip was better (😏) but only about a few spoonfuls for the three of us. Our main entries were equally disappointing...way way too dried..talmalie del dias (pork), the beef on the taco looked and tasted like jerky, husband has the sopas...the meat was not as dried but still not too flavorful. After picking and forking and poking...we cut the lost and put down our forks. The server was nice and courteous for the two times we got to see her...took our order and gave us the bill 😩😩😩. surprisingly that place started to fill up with ppl..don't know if they were tourists like me, walking in not knowing or they were returning customers

Was the best Mexican food in San Antonio! Flavor, flavor flavor!!! Tacos , quesadillas, chips and salsa, All about seasoning baby!!!!

We took a river tour up to this area and were burning up in the heat. This place saved us! I'm not even a fan of Mexican food, but the tacos were some of the best I've ever had. The chicken was marinated perfectly and the flavor was incredible. I just wish we had brought a bigger appetite since I would have loved to try more of the menu. My girlfriend got a margarita and we both agreed it was the best of our trip. The service was as good as the food. Highly recommend!

In the Pearl District, La Gloria specializes in Mexican street food. It must be a very popular place because even at 6pm on a week night there was a wait list. With indoor and a huge outdoor seating area, the wait was not long. The food was very good.

Took some out of town friends for dinner and a drink. The overpriced low quality food was only made worse by a waitress, Angie, who rolled her eyes at our guests when they asked her questions. Two food runners arrived with the appetizers for our table and another table nearby and then proceeded to argue with each other about which table was to receive which appetizer. I finally interrupted them and informed them of which appetizer was ours. No manager was visible so I called the next day to speak with a manager but the person who answered said that the manager named Oscar would call me back soon. Well after 2 weeks no call. Evidently this place is so full of itself that customers have no value.

Friday night very busy but we were seated in half the expected time. Guacamole was awesome. Small plates were just that, small. Fun atmosphere right on the river. Recommend outside seating as the inside requires you to shout to your table mates to be heard. Live music was good.

We had lunch here and sat outside at the bar. Friendly attentive service and the food and the handmade margaritas were the best we had on our trip. (we tried many). The guacamole was good but, the molcajete Puerco was great. Be careful, the pot is very hot. The ceviche was very tasty as well.
Not Impressed and Pricey
The day was gorgeous and perfect for the patio. This was our first time. All items have to be ordered separate so it starts adding up quick. $7 for a beer was overpriced and so were the food options, which didn't seem to be many. With a diabetic in the family, we requested a sugar free drink. When we tried it, we could tell right away that it was not sugar free. When we asked our server brought us a drink with all natural sugar because they do not serve diet drinks. Maybe they server should let the person decide if is ok to have that drink instead of causing a medical emergency. Definitely one the worst Mexican restaurants in San Antonio.
