I like this place as the food is good and they can accommodate a large crowd. I've held many banquets here and they do a great job. The atmosphere is very relaxing and it's great to have a full bar to round out the food. The food is upscale Mexican with a nice culinary twist, it is not your typical Tex-Mex place. ENJOY!

We chose La Paloma Blanca for a birthday celebration. Our server, the margaritas and the entrees were outstanding.

This location has been open for a number of years & had been good in the past. Great patio dining, ample parking, lovely indoor area, very good service. The lunch crowd was light where it used to be quite crowded so that says something. I had the beef Chile Rellenos. Very bland, including the rice. The "salad" was a tiny scrap of lettuce with some chopped tomatoes on top--not worth the bother. The traditional chips & salsa were fresh and excellent. Rather sad that the best part of the meal was the free stuff! My companion was happy with his cheese & chicken enchiladas, but he is easy to please.

I made a reservation in advance since I knew the Riverwalk would be busy and the reviews We're decent. We arrived at 7PPM and requested a table inside since it was chilly. They gave us a table not big enough for one and so close to the tables on either side we could not sit down. We asked to be moved. They gave us a high top that wobbled. Once they brought drinks, the service stopped. We finally flagged someone down for chips. We sat another 20 minutes and decided we needed to leave and find another place to eat. The waiter we flagged down said we owed $18 For the drinks- more than likely he pocketed the money. Would never recommend this place. I should have known better when I noticed empty tables on an otherwise busy night on the river.

I'm writing this review to publish that I've given up on this place. I was disappointed tonight when I took a guest for dinner before a show. The hostess at the front was inattentive, sat at the table for over 10 mins with no greeting and no chips brought to the table. Go some place else and don't risk it. This place is way over hyped.

The construction around the restaurant makes parking challenging. However, once inside you can enjoy a beautifully decorated restaurant with a lovely ambiance. I came here with friends for a Saturday lunch. We had a large party and the service was good for such a large party. I and several others enjoyed the pollo cilantro, which was a chicken breast covered in a creamy sauce. It was not spicy. It was good but a little bland. I enjoyed the lunch but found the prices a little high for the quality of food. It is good but not outstanding. Would I go back? Yes, but it would not be my first choice to take out of town guests.

I have eaten here before, and it was still has an excellent menu with delicious food and friendly servers. I am never disappointed in the quality or quantity of my meal here. The party room is very noisy, so it's best to be seated elsewhere in the restaurant.

The meal was excellent and the preparations before hand were also excellent. They even had celiac chips which were apparently fried in a separate manner from the other chips that the non-celiac people ate. For the first time in a Mexican restaurant anywhere, I did not even have a touch of sickness afterward. This will be one of the places for which I will remember San Antonio and one of the places I will visit on my next trip there.

Yes the food is good here, however the managment is not able to handle the volume of people eating here. We arrived and waited about 30 minutes before our table was ready which was expected on a Friday evening. When we were seated we immediately ordered our food knowing they were busy. We waited 45 minutes and never got our one appitzer and one simple enchilada plate. Normally this would turn around in any kitchen about 20 minutes max. The waitress avoided our table when finally I had to ask the server next to us to please check on our food. She then showed up and explained the kitchen was backed up....blah blah blah... I believe she forgot to turn in our order... anyway she immediately offered the manager to us... he took about 15 minutes to arrive to our table saying the same the kitchen was backed up.. he did not offer any other explanation nor offer us a free drink or voucher to come back... which any good manager would do to keep this customer from going elesewhere to eat chicken enchiladas.... and believe me there are other really good places to eat at here in San Antonio for enchiladas... we will not return and we have been coming here for a very long time.. they have gotten too big for their britches...

Paloma Blanca gets my business consistently because they are so consistently great! The atmosphere is always energetic and fun. They own the market on a couple of specialty items and their selection of margaritas is unmatched. LOVE IT!

Great parking an superior low lit ambiance with fireplace and low key live entertainment. Service is experienced yet iffy as we waited 10-12 minutes for a waiter to visit after we were seated after finally flagging one down while 4 or 5 of them were congragating, visiting, near the staircase pretty much throughout the evening. We waited for refills, plates to be removed etc. Food was hot, well presented and enchiladas were very good with quality ingredients. Beans were also good but rice was bland and could use some work. Overall I would return and recommend, chalking the service up to poor supervision and hoping for better next visit

I made reservations for brunch prior to going to Nutcracker on Sunday. Beware - during peak hours you MUST have reservations. Even though this was a cold, rainy Sunday, the place was packed! There is a lot on the menu and it's traditional Texmex. Our server was Ruth and she was wonderful as she was dealing with a table of us with two little girls and a need to get served and out the door quickly. All worked well. The place is an Alamo Heights hotspot and worth the visit.

i really love the customer service and the food is awesome!

My family and I went for dinner Friday evening. My son and I had the shrimp and mushroom enchiladas. My husband had the beef/cheese enchiladas. The service was outstanding and the food excellent. I wish we had a Paloma Blanca in Houston!!!!!!

We go to Paloma Blanca to celebrate. They have a wonderful menu and an excellent selection of margaritas. This is NOT TexMex. It is real Mexican food. The enchiladas are superb but I often order just the ceviche for my lunch. It is fresh and always seasoned perfectly. They do use a flat leaf parsey but, thankfully, the stronger tasting cilantro. if you have a large group, get the botana grande for appetizers. Service can be a little slow during busy times but we do not go to this restaurant to eat in a hurry. Sit on the patio and enjoy. On the one rare occasion when the food was not up to par, they took it back to the kitchen, and fixed it correctly. No arguments, no discussion. They were very concerned that their food be perfect.

Great food! Really good mexican food. The service is great as well. worth trying,no regrets

The food was great. Visited during happy hour and the prices were amazing. This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The outdoor seating is great too.

I've been going to this restaurant for at least seven years now and it's definitely spoiled other Mexican places for me. Their enchilada tradicionales are my favorite enchiladas in the world. Staff is incredibly friendly, atmosphere is nice. A little pricey but I'll keep going.

I have been to La Paloma Blanca very month for the last 6 months . The food has always been good and consistent however yesterday was not a good day to visit. I had a lunch special of tortilla soup and a fajita taco. The soup was barely warm and the cheese they topped it with had sunk to the bottom in a blob so you could not spoon it easily to your mouth. The taco meat ws good but they had filled the taco and put it on the plate while it was hot but when it arrived at the table, it was luke warm and the tortilla was to soggy to eat. The peppers they put on the taco were not cooked at all. I hope this was just an off day but beware of this combo.

Not worth the price. Enchiladas served with little to no sauce.

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. Three of us went there for lunch after church. The food was phenominally good. Our server was pleasant and helpful, he did a superior job of meeting our needs, The setting is lovely. I woule definitely recommend this place to a friend.

The food is PHENOMENAL. Absolutely some of the tastiest Mexican food we have had in a long time. They actually have a gluten-free menu and our waiter was actually KNOWLEDGABLE about celiac/gluten-intolerance! I was amazed. The building is beautiful! We sat outside and it was fantastic. My ONLY beef with this place is that it wasn't very kid-friendly, and we have three kids. They had no kid menu (like you typically get, a coloring page with crayons and the menu printed on it). They didn't even have kid's dishes listed on their menu! But when I asked the server and he was able to verbally tell me about three dishes they had for kids.

Website provides zero options to contact management with comments or questions. Everything must be done through a telephone call. Could have resolved this at a much lower level than a Trip Advisor review. Request that management provide an online link to enter comments. Website is totally lacking on ability to contact for customer service. We've always had SUPERB food and service in the past two years. This is probably due to a glitch in the website management, but it remains a substantial glitch. Management needs to look into the issue.

This was an amazing food experience. The margaritas were excellent, the food was fresh, ambiance and patio dining was fun. Our waiter was attentive. We had a large party of 10 people and still the food came out timely, piping hot and delicious. I would highly recommend this great place to eat.

Very good food and drinks for reasonable prices. Very friendly waitress (she ran after us to bring a jackett we forgot!!!)

Yes, my review matters because I state my opinion regardless of the crowd. This is indeed some of the best Mexican food I have ever had, currently the best withing a day's drive of my home. And as a resident living near San Antonio, that covers a whole lotta Mex. restaurants! Love the patio but its about the food and this is the best in this city.

This restaurant is located in the Alamo Heights area of San Antonio a neighborhood that is upscale and trendy. La Paloma has both indoor and outdoor seating and most recently I enjoyed dining outdoors. The weather was nice and the Margarita was cold. Chips and hot sauces were great ( ate too many chips again) and the chicken enchiladas verdes were outstanding with loads of chicken inside , not just a few token shreds like some places. Too full for desserts (those darn chips again) but have had them on previous trips and am sure you can find something to meet your desires. All on all a very nice relaxing evening with good service and good food!

La Paloma Blanca is a great spot in SA, in the Alamo Heights area. I went on a Tuesday night at 8:00pm and it was very busy. We had a 30 min wait. Fortunately there is a nice lounge area to knock out some margaritas while you wait, and I do recommend the margaritas (I had The Heights with Calvados tequila). Guac was as good as it should be, dinner was great. I had enchiladas and the wife had a surf and turf situation with chicken and shimp. We had the Tres Leches for dessert and I highly recommend. La Paloma Blanca is upscale mexican, and one of the better spots in town for that kind of food. Service was good. We closed the place down and no one ever made us feel like we needed to leave. When in SA get off the river for a while and wander on down to Alamo Heights, it's a really cool part of town and you can bust by La Paloma Blanca.

We eat here on every trip. The food is dependable and the wait staff are nice. Saturday evening can be busy but the Spanish guitar music helped the wait. House margaritas are great as well as the mojitos! Easy to get to and nice atmosphere.

Menu indicates low fat, etc. Easy to order small portions, Sitting outside wonderful when not too hot. Healthy Mexican food. Great sopa de pollo, fish tacos, salads, green enchiladas. Service pleasant; kitchen was backed up so a little wait.

Food is delicious and service is splendid!!! Food is authenticated from Mexico. Never can go wrong eating here. You will seek to come back for more.

Real Tex Mex, excelente service and right on the River Walk. La Paloma was recommended by friends who live in San Antonio as one of the best Tex Mex restaurants on the River Walk and the place did not disappoint. We where a large group and everyone agreed the food was delicious. The place was not crowded, which was nice, and there where Mariachis singing table side. The service was quick and friendly and I would definitely go back to La Paloma.

I love Paloma Blanca! My favorites are the Tortilla Soup and the Chalupa Compuesta, both of which are inexpensive and filling. The prices go up from there, but it is all reasonable. It is a trendy and popular place locally, with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant itself is worth seeing and the service and food are great!

They have a nice outdoor seating area as well as a spacious dining area inside. Our service was very good, the food just average, and my cocktail small and not great.

This place is always a hit ! The casual laid back atmosphere is always easy to take in . The servers were on point as we were a larger party . I had the pollo cilantro . you get a grilled breast of chicken covered in a rich creamy cilantro sauce with a side of white rice with veggies plus a nice little side salad . it was a good portion and the sauce makes the meal ! Their hot sauces are always fresh tasting and their chips always have a just made freshness to them . this is not a "touristy" place but tourist will love it for the local flavor and ambience .

My sister and I headed to Paloma Blanca Mexican Cuisine at 4 o'clock to enjoy the happy hour and celebrate Margarita day outside on the patio. Upon our arrival, the hostess informed us that the wait for an outside table would be about 30-45 minutes. Good time for a pre-meal margarita we thought. We opened a tab and sat down to wait on our table. The margarita was delicious and, during our wait, we met a very nice patron, Ricardo, who made the atmosphere even better. As we continued to wait, we ordered another round of margaritas. Just as we received our drinks, we were informed that the table was ready. We closed out the tab at the bar, tipped the kind bartender and went to our table. That's when things changed for the absolute worst. After about a ten minute wait, a gentleman came to our table with two glasses of water that he sat on the table and then walked away. We assumed that this gentleman was not our waiter because we were not greeted. In fact, we concluded that he was not because of the way he walked away. Another five went by, three other groups, one couple, a family of three and a group of four ladies, were seated. Recognizing that no one had come to our table yet, we summoned the manager who was nearby and asked to have the waiter take our order. The manager, after realizing that we had not been waited on, then promptly took our order and walked away. A few minutes later, the gentleman, whose name we made sure to get from his name tag (Ramiro) comes to the table, opens his book, and asks us what we would like. We explained that our order was taken by the manager because of the wait time. We now realize Ramiro is our waiter and not because he took the time to introduce himself as such.. While waiting on our order that was placed with the manager, we asked Ramiro to add tableside guacamole to our order to which he mumbled “tableside” and walked away. The food we ordered from the manager arrived and our waiter, Ramiro, never came back to our table to provide any service. As a matter of fact, No one asked if we were okay or if we needed anything for the rest of the meal and time at the restaurant. We watched the couple and family of three get their meals, additional orders of drinks, and constant service. They were served by a different waiter. The group of four ladies dining next to us was served by Ramiro. We watched as he went to their table at least five or six different times. He laughed with them, made space on their table for their orders, got them drinks and refilled their water glasses. When Ramiro finally came back to our table, he took one plate off the table and walked away saying nothing. Another five minutes went by and he returned. In that interaction, he reached for an additional plate on the table and said, "the guacamole is..." At that point, I said "sir, we don't want it and could you please get us our check." Five more minutes go by and he returns with the check. My sister was extremely upset. She asked to speak to the manager about the poor service. When the manager arrived my sister expressed her dissatisfaction with the service. She was so upset that she began to cry out of anger and frustration. In this outing, we could not see what we did to Ramiro to cause him to neglect us. We barely had any interaction with him at all because he did not wait on us! So, in my search for an answer to this, I have come to the conclusion that the only reason was the color of our skin. The manager apologized for the service and insisted he pay for the bill. He insisted on paying the bill because we insisted on paying for our meal. Our reasoning was that we had eaten despite the behavior of Ramiro. As an out- of -town guest, excited to be dining at a restaurant my sister selected I am disappointed and angry about the treatment we received. To be treated like a third-class citizen in a city that is diverse and welcoming was humiliating. I will not be returning to Paloma Blanca Mexican Cuisine nor do I recommend anyone who looks like me and my sister dine at this restaurant!

We've enjoyed going to Paloma Blanca for years. I love the twinkly lights inside and out, and appreciate the good service and good food. You can people-watch while waiting for a table, or grab a drink at the bar and listen to music if you come at a crowded time (hint: make reservations for a weekend evening if you don't want to wait!). My favorite is the crema poblana ligera soup - I get a cup of it with a side salad, enjoy the complimentary chips and salsa beforehand, and share a slice of tres leches cake with my dining partner before leaving. The margaritas are good, the stuffed peppers are good, the enchiladas verdes are also good. There are low-fat items marked on the menu, meat-filled items, vegetarian options and help finding gluten free items as well. The site has a menu available online if you aren't sure this is a match for you. Fantastic dining experience at a moderate price :)

On a visit to SA walking around on river walk I noticed they had mole enchiladas on the menu for $10. I LOVE mole!! So we got a table on the water. No wait on a Saturday night. We couldn’t believe our luck! Right? Nope. Chips ice cold. Salsa jarred. Our poor waitress was trying to serve her tables inside AND us outside. Menu at host desk is different from the menu they handed us. Everything was upwards of $19! So I inquired after the mole enchiladas. Oh yes they had them. So we got those and a $19 Aztec Pastel. The enchiladas arrived with rice and beans and two enchiladas. ($10) the Aztec Pastel was a Small square in the middle of a large plate. No rice, beans, nothing. I was excited to try the mole so I dug in and YUUUCK!! It was like melted Hershey’s kisses on my food!!! I mean it was that consistency and flavor!!! Disgusting. So disappointing! I got into the chicken and even with a knife had a hard time cutting it. So basically the enchiladas were inedible. The rice and beans were normal. Our teen son who loves very spicy food (think ghost pepper) dug into his Aztec Pastel. I was so incredibly scorching hot he could barely eat it. (This morning his lips are all burned). So o asked for rice n beans for him which were promptly brought on a little plate. When we got our check they had charged us individually each for the rice and the beans. Mind now that his dinner was $19, inedibly spicy and has NO sides with its tiny portion. We were furious. Paid and left. I feel completely duped. First the menu switch. Then the gross ‘mole’ to teach us to not order $10 food, then the ultra max spice to force us to order more food. They should be ASHAMED

Didn't really think the restaurant was so great...food seemed average so not sure why some recommend it.

Not your standard Mexican food. The restaurant is beautiful and reminds me of some upscale restaurants in Mexico. The patio is great too if you want a little more laid back atmosphere. I can't pick a favorite dish they're all so good. This is Mexican food at its best.

We came here based on a friends recommendation. The food was good but not great. I feel like there was a lot of room for improvement. Beware the salsa is hot! Also the service is very slow. I had the enchiladas verdes. It was ok. Both my friends liked their fajitas. The fajitas are a lot of food. They both had left overs.

Had a chance to visit this place and OMG the fajitas and margarita was great. Me and my daughter shared the food and drinks were $4 due to the special but it was amazing. Would visit again.

Elegant and cozy local restaurant in San Antonio. I'm an out of towner and took some guests for the good looks and vibe of the establishment and was not disappointed. The place is pleasant and invites to hang out. The food is good, but nothing to brag about. I have to admit that I wanted to wow my guests with fajitas on a sizzling iron platter or grill on the table, but they only offer one dish, the guacamole appetizer, in which it is prepared table side and it was good. Service was very attentive and not overwhelming during my visit. I'll come back to hang out in my next trip.

This was the first place I ever ate at in San Antonio. First, great house margs, served in amber goblets. Great salsa fresca and smoked salsa to start. Favorites include the enchiladas divorciadas, mole enchiladas, and fajitas. I've never had higher-priced items but I'm sure I will go back. I recently went and just had an ensalada esmeralda and it was one of the better dinner salads I've had, plus the crema ligera soup. It was my wife's birthday, so they brought her a free piece of the tres leches cake, the best in town, moist, milky and nutty. Did I mention the California style patio, leather chairs, an always great service? Not much of a wait, ever. Very fine dining experience. We probably go 5-6 times a year.

Ordered Flautas from the special restaurant week menu. They arrived cold. I had requested that the sauce be placed on the side and was told it wasn’t possible to make any changes toaspecial item from that menu. I think this is ridiculous!

Absolutely tremendous Mexican food and drinks. The quality of the products used is excellent and the seasoning is spot-on. Nice Micheladas as well.

If you're looking for that exceptional margarita, don't eat at Paloma Blanca. While the location is good for Alamo Heights in San Antonio, the margaritas are a bit on the disappointing side. Our whole table was disappointed! Not a good thing for a Mexican restaurant. The food was average. I hope they can step it up a bit because the location is great and much needed for Alamo Heights. The enchiladas were bland but the guacamole was good. Nothing else on their menu stood out flavor wise.

Well, first of all, to be fair, I had been to Rosario's, which was magnificent so this place "suffers by comparison" in my rating. The service was excellent but the food was fairly bland and I prefer food with character. The Margarita was good. The food was okay. The price was okay. There was nothing BAD...just nothing fantastic!

Stopped by during Happy Hour - tacos were good but the Happy Hour margarita might've been virgin... The service was ok but not spectacular.

Back for a quick trip to SA and after 3 years Paloma is still tops on my list. While not really TexMex it's a much more refined fare. Always fantastic food and, oh, did I mention the great bar and terrific atmosphere. While Texas is always hot most or the time it's a great place to sit out on the patio and enjoy the true feeing of San Antonio.

The wait staff discussed my selections with the manager. The manager brought the chef to our table to discuss my selections. WOW! I love that they really get the importance of a gluten free diet!!

The carne asada Tampequena was supposed to be a 10 ounce ribeye. I’m not sure what cut of meat was presented but it looked more like a flank steak. It was also tough and chewey even though I was careful to cut it across the grain. The posted price on the website is $25.95. The price on the actual menu is $$35.95. Terribly disappointing for a high end restaurant.

This is my favorite restaurant in San Antonio! Classy place, great food, not your normal TexMex food. Their Chicken Breast with Cilantro Cream Sauce is amazing and my husband loves the Puerco dish. Yummy! Their salsa is also great, as is their queso.

I've stopped here a couple of times now when in town. The staff is friendly and helpful with food allergy questions, and the food is wonderful. Not old school Tex-Mex, but excellent.

We wanted to support local restaurants and settled on Paloma Blanca for two of their 3-course restaurant week lunches this past Sunday. The lunches were listed at $15 each (the rate for every participating restaurant). When I ordered the food, I clearly mentioned I wanted two of the 3-course lunches, and specified for each course the option. When we picked up the food, they charged us $75, instead of the $30! Needless to say, we were shocked. The person who brought the food to the car then got the manager, and she berated us for having not clearly said restaurant week. When I told her that we could not know that this was the magic code word--after all, I had mentioned their 3-course lunches--and that she should have asked us if I meant restaurant week, her answer was that they are far too busy for those questions. Apparently, this restaurant neither needs nor merits community support for their employees. I just hope their attitudes does not lead to lay-offs of their employees because of falling business. I for one won't go back there, not now nor in better times, and instead will patronize friendlier restaurants that are equally good. Perhaps you all should do the same.

It's been over a year since I was in San Antonio and ate and La Paloma Blanca, but I made myself one of its signature drinks (The '09 #2) and was reminded of what a great place it was. Even though it's in a strip mall and that might make you wonder about ambience, it's a lovely restaurant with a lovely patio and my wife and I spent one of our most memorably and pleasant evenings there. And, as you might guess, it has a great bar and a great selection of tequila-based cocktails.

The food here is very authentic and always consistent. Our server JC, who we always ask for, is very helpful, attentive, and makes great recommendations. I always recommend this place to friends and family members.

They have crazy good Mexican food! This is without a doubt my favorite restaurant. The food is good I like the atmosphere I would definitely recommend .

We had a family reunion at La Paloma Blanca restaurant. Very pleased with service and the food. I enjoyed the live guitar music! A bit of a wait was my only complaint, but I did not reserved.

We had an early dinner here. The food was good. Fish tacos for one and tilapia magnolia for the other. We had the margarita priced at $9.95 and enjoyed it all. The outdoor seating is right on the Riverwalk If you decide to eat there a word of advice....sit back toward the building. Still a great view of the river and the people but you will be out of the busy walking area, people with lit cigarettes, and dogs. This place is worth the cost which is a bit higher because of location if you want to experience San Antonio's Riverwalk for a relaxing meal.

Paloma Blanca is one of my favorite Mexican places in San Antonio. I have been going to them for years...all the way from the time they were at their other location downtown. The service has always been fast and friendly and the food has always been delicious. There is nothing bad I can say about this place. From a romantic dinner to business lunches, this place is perfect. Nothing beats having a good beer or cocktail out in the patio on a sunny day. Highly recommend it.

Horrible first experience after noticing a piece of steel wool(used in the kitchen) in my mouth. I notified the waitress who left for 10 minutes and came back saying "it was comp'd". I expected so much more but this place. I didn't even receive a "sorry" from any manager on site. I would stay away from this place and wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The salsa is watered down, the chips are bagged and fried to seem authentic. The food was less then impressive - steel or no steel. I should of snapped a picture before the waitress hauled away this mess.a

Loved this place! Very authentic! The waiter was just fantastic. Very funny too. We had a wonderful time.

The hostess gave us a table but then another customer told us he came before us and that he was supposed to get the same table. We did not know what to say. Fortunately, another table cleared and the other customer took it. Meanwhile the hostess did not try to intervene to explain that it was her fault and actually another waiter talked to us like we had jumped the line! Very rude. The only reason we stayed was because the kids were hungry and tired. The food was way below average. Very disappointing.

Had lunch here with our family and did enjoy it. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was good and arrived quickly. I really loved their beans. Prices aren't too bad, they have a lunch menu with a good selection. The inside decor was also very inviting.

I live here and eat here often! The college kids who are back in town hit this place first as they miss their food so much while they are gone. It's a favorite of the area and people drive from all over town to eat here. The best place to eat is outside on the patio when the weather is nice. Try their: Ceviche, enchiladas, ½ and ½ sauces chicken, fajitas, cilantro salad with shrimp or chicken, 2 different types of salsa for the yummy thick chips, fish tacos, etc. !!! Our friends like their margaritas, too. You can also call in your order and pick it up in about 15 to 20 min. via a drive through where the person walks to your car. Nice option . A lot of the bad reviews on this page are for a different restaurant called Paloma Riverwalk (on the river downtown) & NOT this one : Paloma Blanca on Broadway. Maybe Paloma Riverwalk is fairly new -so maybe trying to figure things out or doesn't have the same good management as the one on Broadway???

love this place! everything is very fresh, and the atmosphere is nice. the shrimp tacos are amazing, as are the chicken enchiladas! the mango margarita is awesome! this is my favorite mexican restaurant in san antonio, and there are a lot to choose from. It's a little pricier/more upscale than other places but in my opinion, well worth it. highly recommended!!

We walked in on Saturday night at 5:30. Told there is a 45 minute wait. Vacant tables everywhere. Hour later, asked about our reservation, told we were next. Still waited next to the front desk for another 15 minutes. Finally got seated. Waited another 30 minutes for the appetizer which was immediately followed by the entrees. Dirty dishes stayed on the table and had to wave my water glass at the waiter for refill. Not very impressed with the service or the management. However, the food wiped all that out. My wife and I were very impressed with the mole and salsa. Will be going back, but not on Saturday night.

La Paloma Blanca doesn't look that great from the street. Nestled in a tight neighborhood, parking is a bear, and I wondered if this restaurant was worth the hassle. However, one I got inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The ambience is quite nice, and the service was excellent. I ordered my standard dish, cheese enchiladas, because that tells me everything I need to know about a Mexican restaurant. And these enchiladas were delicious, fresh-tasting, and wonderfully seasoned. We also ordered the "make-it-at-your-table" guacamole. It was bit pricy, but sure tasted good. (If you're not a jalapeño lover, be sure to tell your server to leave it off.) This would be a nice date place with a very romantic atmosphere. I hope to visit again soon. There are lots of things on the menu I'd like to order next time.

There are some things best left alone, and that surely includes recipes for traditional Mexican cuisine. Sure, it's regional and it differs within given regions - but it is authentic and recipes have been passed down generation to generation. But it's not good enough for local "Mexican" restaurants. Haute Cuisine for many tourists' restaurants is not even close to the "real" thing. Flour tortillas? Brightly colored tortilla chips? Yellow cheese? I've had better Mexican food at cheap eateries in Mexico: soup, main dish, tortillas, salsa, chips and desert for two dollars. You can't get as good here for $20.00!

You can't help but be impressed by the ambiance and atmosphere of the restaurant. Service is very good. I did not grow up on Tex-Mex style Mexican food, and this restaurant offers more than just Tex-Mex so I was pleased at the flavors I found. The only ever-slight downside of this restaurant is that parking can be difficult (even with a valet service) because it is so popular, and it can get a little loud inside because of the décor. But those are just things to be aware of, don't let that keep you from trying this restaurant. I will go back

I like mexican food but I would not have tried this fancy looking restaurant in Alamo Heights if I had not had a groupon coupon. I usually look for the "hole in the wall" places with a lot of pickups parked out front. I found this place to be pleasing to both the eye and the pallete. At 7PM on a wed. evening we were seated and served right away. The waitress was pleasant and the chips and salsa showed up quickly. The salsa was good and so were the chips even if they were a little thicker than I prefer them. I had the chicken breast with cilantro cream sauce. Flavor was good but it was served less than piping hot and I didn't taste the cilantro in the sauce (I love cilantro). The boracho beans that came with the meal were good but they were just pinto beans, no cilantro, onions, tomatos, etc. My wife (mexican) had the beef fajitas, which I tasted, and they were very good (marinated and cooked with peppers and onions). I'm not a big rice eater but she was impressed with it. Prices were a little high for Mexican food but not bad for the neighborhood. Most plates were in the $10 to $15 range with a couple (tampiquena and redfish) busting $20. It's the kind of place I might take my yankee guests to gently equate them with mexican cuisine.

It's pretty hard to screw up Mexican food, but... The queso was bland, the food was basic. The riverwalk is a tourist spot so base your dining decision on a place with a long wait! We were pressed for time and La Paloma didn't have a wait, that should have been our first clue.

Every time we have family or friends visit, this is one of our go-to places. We love the atmosphere; it's warm and inviting. We love the fireplace and the couches and chairs just to sit and relax while we're waiting on our table. The food is always very good. One thing, this time around the wait time on our food was long, and the poor server was all over the place. Also our drinks ran dry for awhile. I think that they were short staffed. The server was very friendly, it wasn't his fault. We will be back for the great atmosphere and great food.

Our second time to meet for lunch at this Alamo Heights restaurant. The food was good on both occasions but the service was the absolute worst. The first time we met we were seated on their wonderful outdoor patio. However, the waitress was either overwhelmed with other diners or was uninterested. We waited at least 45 minutes for our check and only received it after asking another member of the waitstaff. Today our waitress, Mercedes, was again, either overwhelmed or just didn't care very much. She acted put out when we asked for a few more minutes to check out the menus. We had to find her to refill the hot sauce bowl, water glasses were left empty for a long period of time and the bowls of salsa and chips were never cleared after we were obviously through eating. We wanted to order dessert but couldn't find her at all. We finally got a menu from the desk ourselves and one of our party got up from the table to find her. All in all a great location, wonderful atmosphere good food but lousy service. Not sure whether we'll ever go back. A shame!

I visited La Paloma Blanca (upscale Mexican restaurant) on two occasions. The first was a pre-visit before my son's wedding. We tried a variety of food and enjoyed everything we tasted. Especially some of the sauces and appetizers. For my son's wedding the menu began with a variety of appetizers and then a prepared meal. The service was always excellent and the food tasty. I think the appetizers are really delicious. The bar has a wide variety and I think that it is well located for North East/Downtown access. Parking is a little tight on busy days, but be patient as the food is well worth it. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and can accommodate large groups for special events.

On a cold rainy evening this was a great spot indoors to enjoy Mexican food. The menu has a variety of dishes including traditional Mexican, salads and soups, steak and chicken and appetizers. The waiter was prompt and attentive and the food was good.

My husband and I had dinner and drinks here a couple of times and had a great experience both times. Our waiter was attentive and courteous. The food arrived promptly and tasted great. Drinks at the bar are great as well, especially the bartenders are friendly.

Dinner on the river. Good Tex-Mex. The fajitas were good. Drinks can't compare with Charlie Wants A Burger (formerly, Zuni Grill) next door, and this isn't the best place for guacamole (Boudro's), but a great location.

This restaurant is upscale tex-mex food. Fairly classy place with excellent food and bar. Also, there is live guitarist for entertainment some evenings.

I had read some positive reviews of this place and was really looking forward to some good Mexican food. We were greeted by some very surly hostesses when we first arrived and the visit went downhill from there. The restaurant is beautiful and that seems to be the focus. The food was flavorless and bland. Truly no flavor!! I will say that the margarita was quite good and was one of the high points, the only high point of our visit. Our waitress was barely there and had the same disinterested attitude.

I had lunch recently at La Paloma Blanca on Broadway in San Antonio. Superb dining experience with excellent Tex-Mex cuisine. Beautifully decorated and quiet, but attentive service. We sat in the outdoor patio area, and unlike many restaurants with outdoor seating, the service staff was conscientious and alert to our needs. Can't wait to go back!

Great Margaritas, enchiladas full of chicken and high quality , order the divorced enchiladas..they will fill you up.

Loved it when I walked in. Sat down and service from Ruth was amazing. She was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. She was sweet, as well. The reason I rated this place only 3 is bc the food wasn't that good. It was a bit over priced for the quality. Probably would not come back, unless it was a cocktail hour thing.

Got some to-go orders. Got home (which fortunately was only 5 min away) and found they forgot the tortillas (all 4 of them). Went back and was given a complete hassle and hard time - staff questioned us up and down over 4 tortillas! Really? No apology, not a care in the world after ordering $60 of food, having given a nice tip for to-go order, and getting hassled over $1 worth of tortillas - like Biden says, “Come on man!” Mangers need to help their staff understand what a customer experience should be like especially when they are the ones making the mistake!

This place stands out as the best Tex Mex my girlfriend and I had in San Antonio. Simply worth the trip. Nice outdoor seating if you desire it and great service. They have a website so you can see the menu. Check it out. The chips were home made and the salsa was excellent. The guacamole was very fresh and made at your table.. My girlfriend had the Enchiladas San Miguel (vegetarian/mushrooms) and was simply excellent! I had the Pollo al Cilantro o Chipotle. Its a chicken breast covered their cilantro creme or chipotle creme sauce. You're able to ask for it 1/2 and 1/2 as I did. Fantastic. The rice and the borracho beans were very high quality and very good. We also requested their handmade corn and wheat tortillas; both were excellent but the wheat seemed to be coarser/thicker. Excellent menu. I wished I lived here so I could try it all. Guess I'll have to come back. ;-) Cilantro or Crema Chipotle. Can’t decide? Try half and half

We were looking for a Mexican food restaurant which was off the beaten path and Paloma Blanca was suggested. It was probably about 20 min north of downtown so we did have to drive but it was well worth it. We will be back every time we visit SA.

This is one of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in San Antonio. You cannot go wrong with this menu and the margaritas are consistently great. Please try the guacamole.

If the weather is good, it's lovely to sit outside with the fountains. Good service. Often busy. As for food, the delicious and light veggie chili relleno is a great low-guilt, high flavor choice. I hear the enchiladas are also excellent.

Been to La Paloma Blana a few times and its been good every time. The food comes out hot and fresh and the prices for the lunch specials are reasonable. We are always full and not wanting anything extra. There are more than enough staff to cut service time to just a few minutes for anything. Highly recommend giving it a try.

Excellent Mexican food, not Tex-Mex chain-style food, reasonable prices for what you get, good value, but not cheap. Great service, too.

Sat at the bar; great vibe! Food & service were super. Margs were amazing with NO sweet & sour. Food was fresh & exciting! Will be back.

Very busy, but, service and food was great! Can't say enough good things about this cafe. We try and eat here every time we're in San Antonio.

I had the ensalata esmeralda, and I thought it was great! It was fresh, filling, and the dressing was light, but flavorful. The patio seating was kept cool by a giant fan and overhead fan, and comfortable even on one of the hottest days in San Antonio. I would definitely go back.

Have been here 3 times in last six months by chance and have lunch and dinner. Have consistentetly gotten very good meals, stellar margaritas, and excellent, attentive but not smothering service. Note the context is I am very picky about restaurants. Have had the beef fajitas, traditional enchilada, avocado soup, and the Paloma sampler. All were excellent and authentic. My sons tres leches cake was outstanding. I've have the VIP margarita and top shelfers and sampled the wife's peach margarita. The Margs are particularly good, as good as you can get. Great value as well for the quality, you can get an 5 star entree and a marg for $25. Very nice outdoor patio and classy indoor seating w traditional classical guitar player, great for the family or a date. My strongest recommendation. Eat well, be well, treat your family. See youdown the road. Boots Davis

First visit to Paloma Blanca was with co-workers for an after work happy hour at 430pm and the place was empty. Eight of us were comfortably seated in the overstuffed leather ffurniture in front of the fireplace, just steps from the bar. Rosa was our server throughout the three hours. Once I was seated, it took her 15 minutes to take my drink order. The house margarita was one of the better margaritas I've had in San Antonio. Then I and a couple others asked repeatedly for an appetizer menu and waited 30 minutes for Rosa to take our orders. The appetizer menu is limited, more suited towards those who are ordering dinner than wanting to enjoy some munchies during happy hour! I did order bean and cheese nachos for 12 to share with the others. I was expecting a nice platter of nachos chips, but instead got 12 nachos dotted with bean and cheese - what a joke! I was planning to stay for dinner after happy hour, but the poor service and skimpy nachos changed my mind! Don’t think I’ll go back for happy hour again either!

An occasional lunch stop when I am on that side of San Antonio. Service very prompt and food has always been good.

We had Sunday lunch here recently, and I would say the food was pretty good but not amazing. The best thing we ordered was the ceviche. The atmosphere and service were just ok. Nothing special here...

Located in Alamo Heights away from the more touristy areas La Paloma Blanca has a very nice atmosphere. The food is tasty and good, but not great but I would eat here again. The prices are a little higher than other places, but that is not surprising for the presentation and atmosphere. It is certainly not a hole in the wall.

We eat there all the time, its a really good place, great margaritas, really good food, if weather is nice a wonderful outdoor area....its a place you can always count on to be very, very good.

Four of us were given the opportunity to treat four new friends from Turkey to their first ever Tex-Mex meal and we chose this Alamo Heights standard. It was a perfect evening started by exposing them chips and salsas, guacamole, nachos, and various sauces that ranged from mole, chipotle, cilantro, to pepper. The waiter brought in the sauces and held a tasting. The guacamole was made at the table. They learned about the difference between pickled and fresh jalapeños. During the main meal we were visited by the manager who welcomed them to our country. I had my usual chicken enchiladas verdes which always hits the spot. It was a special night for our new friends and a special night for us old timers as well.

I love coming to Paloma Blanca a couple of my very favorites are their Ceviche and have an Alamo Heights Margarita!! Everything is so yummy....Salute"

Great service and wonderful food. Try the queso fundido and guacamole made at your table. Had drinks prior to dinner and overall everything was excellent. Do not confuse this with La Paloma on Riverwalk.....this one is totally better.

Service was great. Food is awesome. The homemade chips and salsa are so good! I had the traditional chile relleno it was DELICIOUS!

I've visited La Palmoa Blanca several times over the last few months and the food has always been great! The happy hour has (small) house margaritas for $5 and beer for $2. However, skip the happy hour appetizers and get the regulars for a better value. The waitstaff is always friendly and accommodating. I have nothing bad to say!

I visit nearly every time I'm in San Antonio, and the food is consistently great. As one reviewer commented, the ceviche is fantastic....and I've never had anything that was not very good. Service is always good, and the atmosphere very nice.

The rice is always a sign of how the meal will be. La Paloma Blanca's rice is just like my Abuela used to make! Go here and you won't be disappointed!

This restaurant has great food. There is an outdoor patio as while as indoor seating. Service was good and the food excellent. No complaints.

My wife an I agreed that La Paloma Blanco has the best interior Mexican food in San Antonio. The chicken enchiladas mole and chicken enchiladas verde are delicious. We loved their side table made guacamole and the Heights margaritas. It’s the best!

We loved the food and the location of the restaurant. Our only gripe was the bartender mixing up salt with sugar in our Mojito. Otherwise---great experience

My wife and I enjoyed lunch at La Paloma on the River Walk. We were seated right on the river and the waiter could not have been more accommodating. Street singers came to the table and played any music you wanted to hear for a donation. Once the food appeared so did the mallard ducks. However, they were respectful and did not intrude on you or harass like other ducks might do. Obviously, people feed them taco chips and the ducks expect someone will feed them, so no need to attack. It was nice to sit and watch the boats go by full of people anxious to hear the next tidbit of information from the driver as he narrates his way up the canal. To be honest, I am not a Mexican food fan, but the menu provided other selections. A really nice repose from the River Walk hustle. Reasonable price and staff well trained.

When I visited this restaurant it was a group of 10 ladies and the service was great and we had no complaints; food was delicious. We ordered margaritas off the Happy Hour menu, although last time we visited this restaurant they informed us they had discontinued their famous Happy Hour.

we were looking for Mexican food, but a bit more upscale and La Paloma was perfect. The great and friendly service was welcomed after a day of travel. Fantastic chicken enchiladas and equally outstanding fajitas made for a perfect meal!

standard Mexican cuisine but great service. Wait staff was ready to provide us with all that was needed to make the engagement party a success.

Love this place and never had a bad experience. Just blocks from the house, we visit regularly and highly recommend.

Good location, good view sitting at a table right next to the river, good food, good service... What is not to enjoy. It's a big restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining. We were initially the only couple in the restaurant but others joined as the dining hour marched on. Nice experience for a leisurely lunch.

San Antonio is a city with hundreds of Mexican restaurants. Some come and go. Some are little taco dives. A few stay the course for decades because of their dedication to good food and quality. Our other favorites include La Hacienda and Cielito Linda (until its unfortunate closing). La Paloma Blanca is a place we have Sunday lunch after church. Outside on the terrace the fans keep the air moving. The food is always generous in portion and excellent in quality. The location is a bit problematic. The building sits back from the street and is hidden by trees. Even as a regular, I almost drive by it. People read Trip Advisor reviews in order to find the best places to go in a city. Take it from a local resident, you can't go wrong coming here.

THE mexican place in Alamo Heights. Sorry, La Fonda, you're actually in city of San Antonio.

Owing to a subtle grace and serenity of surroundings, Paloma is always a treat for the eyes as well as the palate. Far from an average Mexican food emporium, this restaurant ne art space is a showcase of timeless architectural style from the impressive open foyer to its tropical outdoor courtyard offering the respite of lush enveloping greenery and a gentle, tranquility inducing water fall. A magnet for special occasions or just to celebrate being here, Paloma Blanca continues to be a favorite for a more elegant take on a common genre of local food. A constant favorite appetizer here comes in the form of queso fundido with fresh, succulent shrimp swimming under a ropey surface of molten white cheese followed by a further substrate of savory chorizo and a finish out of mounded, diced tomatoes and mild pepper slices. You are offered a choice of flour or corn tortillas to wrangle this hot, rascally slurry from its heated iron skillet and onto your anticipating taste buds. Take my advice and get the handmade corn tortillas for this dish. Then, do your best with a spoon to carve out a goodly portion of this amorphous, stringy melt and grab it with a ready to fold, hot tortilla. The technique will make sense once you have given it a go. The flavor combination of spicy chorizo, mild shrimp and gooey cheese is addictive, but don't eat too many if you have ordered a full meal. It's beguilingly filling. The picadillo filled beef enchiladas are encased in the softest of tortillas and moistened with a mild gravy where each meat packed bite is separated from the whole with the slightest effort from a fork. The rice and a la charra beans are additional sweet notes accompanying the enchilada symphony of flavors and rounding out a tasty plate of traditional (Tex) Mexican fare. The meal and the ambiance of the restaurant is truly a composition of gustatorial and visceral pleasures that remains high on my list of Tex-Mex eateries. This is especially true when it is important to dine in pleasant surroundings as well as to have food that is consistently good (and the fresh squeezed lime and peppery top shelf tequila margaritas or an ice cold Carta Blanca ain't half bad either).

I love that they have gluten free and paleo menu items!!!! They haven partnered with the gym Behind the restaurant to bring these healthier options. The two different kinds of salsa are fabulous as well. Our waitress was Diana and she rocked it! Great Mexican food and great Margaritas!!

We have eaten here for many years and the food seems to only get better. One in our group is vegetarian and ordered the Vegetal Chile Relleno. The waiter inquired if he was vegetarian and substituted beans with no pork for the borracho beans and asked if chicken broth in the rice was o.k. Very sensitive to the needs of the customer. The Chile Relleno was exquisite with just enough heat. Ehchiladas Verdes were yummy and the Enchiladas de Mole were to die for! The mole sauce is the best I have ever tasted. Since they sell queso, pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole, etc. by the pint and quart, I asked if the chef would sell a pint of mole. The chef agreed and we brought home the mole sauce to try our hand the next day with chicken enchiladas covered in mole sauce. I know they will not equal La Paloma Blanca's enchiladas, but they will have the sauce! If you are a visitor to San Antonio and staying on the river walk, it would be worth your effort to make it to this restaurant on Broadway. You won't be disappointed!

I have lived in San Antonio all my life and have eaten at most of the mexican restaurants here. This is by far the best. They use quality ingredients and authentic recipes. Any enchilada that has chicken in it, for example, uses large moist pieces of white meat instead of the typical shredded, dried out chicken most restaurants use. The sauces on all the dishes are excellent and complex, again, not typical of the greasy plates from most mexican restaurants. I always take guests from out of town here because it is the perfect combination of excellent food and a beautiful and fun atmosphere ( the patio is awesome). They are always impressed!

This is a bit more upscale Mexican restaurant; fantastic ceviche (made with sea bass), chicken & shrimp in a pablano cream sauce worth ordering everytime, and the tres leches cake is a MUST! They also have very strong, but very tasty margaritas. The place can be a bit loud, especially inside with gaggles of giggling girls, but otherwise it is a very nice place.

The Dove is one of those restaurants that exudes ambiance and class from the minute you walk into the eye pleasing foyer with fireplace. A nicely decorated sitting area which serves as a very comfortable waiting room, greets the diner upon entry. Take advantage of the al fresco dining if the weather is good or a table next to the long glass window that looks out onto the patio to gain the al fresco experience without the al fresco. This lovely has all the trappings that one would expect in an '09 eatery from the parking lot full of Mercedes and BMWs to the mid-day groups of nicely dressed ladies in for a gab session about the latest Michael Kors fashion offering. Don't let the proclivity for and appearance of this restaurant to cater to "lifestyles of the rich and famous" deter you. The value to quality / quantity ratio of tex-mex cuisine here will not disappoint. We have dined here on numerous occasions over the years and have found the food to be consistently good. Savory beef enchiladas, piquant beef filled chile relleno, unctious queso with chorizo, poblano, tomato and shrimp . . . it's all good. And the lighter than air homemade corn tortillas . . . have to be one of the best in the city with the flour not far behind. A visit here will definitely raise the bar on your average serape and sombrero decorated wall, enchilada slinging, novela on the TV playing frijole joint.

Visited a high school alumni, Mary, in San Antonio. I said I just wanted to do two things for sure: Eat at a good Mexican Restaurant and go to the River Walk. We went to this restaurant for lunch on the Saturday I arrived and started with a very tasty Margarita. Ordered the Guacamole Olmeca that is prepared table side. Everything was very fresh but we needed to season it up for our tastes with some more lime and salt. I generally prefer a lighter crisper tortilla chip but we dug into the guacamole like we were starving. We ordered the Ceviche del Mar that was excellent. The flavors and ingredients were perfectly combined in a large stemmed glass. We then went crazy because I wanted to try a little bit of everything and ordered the Botana Grande appetizer platter with quesadillas al carbon, flautas, bean and cheese nachos and fried cream cheese Jalepenos. I had never seen Nachos sold by the each but after the Platter arrived I understood the bigger, thicker tortilla chips as each chip had the ingredients for the type of nachos we ordered. It was not the mound of chips with some cheese sauce and Jalepenos tossed on top. So the nachos were a pleasant surprise. As if that was not enough food, we ordered two chicken enchiladas, one with their signature Crema Chipotle sauce and the other with the Crema Cilantro sauce. Both sauces were excellent. The enchilada itself was pretty standard fare. While the food was good, we were adding salsa and seasoning to just about everything ordered except the ceviche. In spite of that, we carried four boxes of food to bring home to eat later with plenty of salsa, chips and Crema sauces. The service was good and attentive even though it was fairly busy.

My wife and I tried this place on Monday at 5:00 at the request of a friend. It's on Broadway St. a block north of Austin Hwy. and we were seated right away. We stay away from most of the tourist restaurants on the Riverwalk but enjoy Mexican food that is properly prepared, as opposed to being fresh from the microwave. This place was terrific. It was right after a July rainshower and the temperature for outside seating was just right. Ruth provided excellent service and my chile rellenos al camaron (with shrimp) were outstanding. My wife makes better guacamole and I make better flan, but theirs were pretty good. I had hoped for a discount in Military City, USA, but they don't do that. With my wife's chicken fajitas and our friend's guacamole soup and a tip, the bill came to $76.

The food was excellent but the waiter service was just okay. We were in a back room where a birthday party was going on. The assistant waiter was doing most of the work and we had little interaction with our waiter. It would have been nicer if water glasses were replenished and attentiveness given from the waiter. We went on a Saturday night and had booked our reservations a week ahead online. There is limited parking and coming from out of state, we parked on a side street. We found the entrance a bit confusing and made it difficult finding a way into the restaurant. Not a way of how we wanted to start our vacation!

I was invited to this Mexican restaurant and it was fantastic. The food was amazing, as Mexican as it gets!. We had pollo en mole poblano, pozole, pollo en salsa poblana and I really don't know which was better ( I tried all of them lol). It's also worth mentioning the charming patio, which was ideal for a very pleasant " sobremesa". Service was very attentive, they even prepared our guacamole in front of us. This is already my #1 pick in San Antonio restaurant-wise.

We had a good meal here with some nice domestic wine but we're very disappointed in the standards in the toilets. The decor doesn't make maintenance easy but action needs to be taken.

When we travel to San Antonio, we always work in a visit to this restaurant. They have a wonderful patio and the food and house margaritas are always excellent. Wait staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions.

Possibly. It is really, really good. The chiles en novata were outstanding. Their special recipe guacamole made at the table very tasty. Plus 20-30 Mexican recipes that are really authentic. This is not Tex-Mex but real Mexico. Can't wait for our next visit to try the tacos de pastor and a green enchiladas. BTW: the tres leches cake was one of the best I've had in years. The service was very good and informative on the menu.

Excellent all around food and service . This has to be one of the best designed restaurants I have ever been to. Patio dining is an option. I had the fajitas which were delicious. Our waiter was awesome.

Out to eat the most important thing is the quality and taste of the food. Well this place has them both. The ingredients were fresh and so tasty. Every meal at our lunch was delicious. Maybe a little expensive but lunch prices were not bad. Service was ok. But.... this is one of the best Mexican meals ever had.

Living in San Antonio we are surrounded by lots of Mexican food restaurants. They are on every corner in town which means you have the ability to know what's really good, band and everything inbetween. La Paloma Blanca is just ok as far as the food and service goes. Nothing to really brag about. I've usually eaten here only when others suggest it as I have found it to be a bit of a boar with their menu choices. Chips...chips are always your first "welcome" food to a Mexican restaurant. Blanca's chips are thick, lacking salt and tasteless. Not off to a good start. The salsa came to our table warm and flavorless as well. I've tried many things on the menu with the hopes of finding something I'd really like. To date that has failed me. The last plate I ordered was the "traditional" cheese enchiladas. Small in size with little gravy the were just warm enough at the start but by the time I got to the last three or four bits the cheese had started to harden. The rice that came with the plate was nothing more the rice flavored with a bit of tomato sauce. If it was supposed to have other things in it...onions, celery...I never found them. It too was a small serving. I skipped the beans and ordered a small salad. It came on a small plate with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes and no salad dressing. I asked for some Ranch dressing which took a while to get and found it to be bottled style Ranch. Service was just a bit slow. We arrived at 11:00am before the crowds so they may have just been getting geared up for the lunch crowds. Too pricey for the quality of food.

My wife and I have been here two times. My wife has been here frequently with family and girlfriends. I am not a real big fan of La Paloma. The food, in my estimation is average for a city with plenty of Mexican food restaurants.

After my less than stellar review last year, this place has become a family favorite. We have eaten here many times this year and continue to be impressed with the food, the service, and the people. They were so busy on a Friday evening that we opted for an outside table despite temps over 100. There are plenty fans working on those tables and it makes things delightful. The Margaritas were tasty, the chips are formidable, and the salsa is deliciously original and comes in two levels. My BW ordered the enchiladas San Miguel and this was almost an artistic presentation. Mushroom enchiladas in tomato sauce with Portabello mushroom pieces on top with white cheese and served with an amazing multi-colored rice dish, and a spinach salad with tomatoes and onions. I ordered the traditional enchiladas, one beef and one cheese with a white sauce, Ranchero beans and Spanish rice. This was a great meal and our server Erick managed well despite the demands of volume and temperature. I've found out that I'm constantly dreaming of their chips, salsa, and Margaritas.

In preparing for a trip to San Antonio, we discovered that finding a great Mexican restaurant was surprisingly challenging. Our top pick was La Paloma Blanca, and we had a wonderful visit! We had no trouble locating the restaurant, which was only a 15 minute drive from the Riverwalk area. It is large, beautifully decorated, and bustling with local families enjoying a meal or celebrating a special occasion. La Paloma Blanca is clearly a restaurant that people enjoy and look forward to visiting, for the excellent food as well as the lovely atmosphere. Our table ordered many dishes, and all were delicious. The service was quick and attentive, and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. If you are visiting San Antonio, don't miss La Paloma Blanca. It will be one of the high spots of your trip. My only note of caution regards the guacamole prepared tableside. If you prefer a milder, less spicy guacamole, let your waiter know this before he begins. Otherwise, you will end up with guacamole that is too spicy for most visitors. We highly recommend La Paloma Blanca! It is beautiful, delicious, and well worth a visit.

Decided to eat at La Paloma because they had several patio tables open for lunch. Was one of the best decisions we made for the day. Ordered beef fajitas to split with my daughter. The beef was tender and tasty. Generous serving, plenty for 2. The salsa was homemade and chips were deep fried which made them warm and crisp. Kids portion was inexpensive and according to my Granddaughter, her enchiladas were GREAT! La Paloma is definitely the best on the river if your looking for Mexican.

Ate here in Late December on a Friday Afternoon. It was still quite busy and parking was somewhat of a problem because of it's popularity. This to me was "true" Mexican Food and not Tex Mex or New Mexico Southern Colorado type cuisine. I had the enchiladas verdes plate which proved to be a generous serving of food well worth the price. At first I was a little disappointed but after consuming the entire serving I must agree it was quite good. However I still tend to think that the food is only above average and not spectacular as described on some reviews. Our servers and other individuals who waited on our party, were highly efficient, courteous and on the spot. All were bilingual so if the customer knows Spanish that is an advantage. If ever in San Antonio, TX again and opportunity presents itself to eat here I would do so without hesitation but I would never travel to San Antonio just to eat here.

My family loves this restaurant. Everything is delicious there from the fajitas to the margaritas. I love this place. It has never disappointed me. Good food, food fun, great place to socialize.

Since I had a car I drove from my conference downtown out Broadway looking for a place to eat dinner. I found this place in a strip mall and liked the Yelp reviews and was hungry so Mexican it was. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita which was good and the Enchiladas '09- 2 chicken and salsa in tortillas with a side of rice and a salad. The dish was good and filling and with the drink ran me almost $30 without tip. They have ample free parking and the decor of the place is nice. The service was very good.

Consistently really good Mexican food! Have to say though i miss the white chocolate tamales after dinner! :( They used to be complimentary- now sadly they are not even ont he menu- and i would have been mroe than glad to pay for them!!

Mexican food is my favorite cuisine. Therefore, I know a lot of places. This one is really one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. Great authentic Mexican food. Their tortilla chips and their guacamole are the best! There is nothing there that I tried that I didn't love it.

I always love the atmosphere inside or outside this spot. The enchiladas Divorciadas are my favorite. i also had the effen cucumber drink on the rocks. I wish the glass was bigger, ice melted to quickly. Service was ok.

We have eaten here scores of times, and is our go-to for a high-end Mexican food restaurant. Normally the food is quite good - not adventurous, but very tasty. Service has always been polite, but not really friendly. Anyhow, on a recent Sunday night at 7 PM, eight of us had to wait 45 minutes for a table followed by a slow ordering process, and a less than OK quality servings with at least one incorrect order. Summary: It seems La Paloma can't handle a full house load. So choose your times to dine with care.

Nice comfortable atmosphere, good food, good wait staff although somewhat pricey. Portions are not huge, but flavorful and well prepared. I cant say anything really stands out as special. The reputation drew us here, and did not disappoint. Would go back.

My family loves this restaurant. It's incredible they offer great Mexican food and Gluten-free as well a paleo options. It is one of our favorites in San Antonio. Their ceviche is to die for. Yummy

I cannot say enough good about this restaurant. We ordered the table side guacamole they used a little bit of orange juice with the lime, amazing. It is an option to have plantains instead of tortilla chips. Everything we ate was awesome.
Never again, at least I could expense it
I went here for lunch with two colleagues. We were scoping out the place for our work holiday party, and I am certainly glad we did. I told the hostess as soon as we arrived why we were there and we wanted to have lunch also. We asked to see the person who was in charge of the party planinng. We were seated in the "lobby" area that has booths. Weird seeing as the room we wanted to see was also available for seating. The waitress came over and she was capable enough. We ordered the three meals we would serve our guests. We ordered the Mary Tierra, Enciladas Verdes, and Carnegie Asada Tamipquena. We all fought over who would be the lucky on who got the ribeye. We asked again for the party planner or manager since we were waiting so long for our food. After 35 minutes waiting for our meal, and the waitress spilling water on one guest's phone, the food finally arrived! We heard wonderful reviews so we were excited. Well the Encilades Verdes was passable. The Mary Tierra's sauce was good but was encreditably poured on to mask the dry chicken undernieth and the Carne Asada Tamipquena was awful. Not only was it ordered medium and came medium well at best, pushing well, it had no flavor at all. 5 minutes after we were servered our foor the manager finally arrived to show us the room. I wanted to go see it because it took so long to get her to show us the room, but my associates decided to finish the terrible meal and the look. We were going to cut out the ribeye and substitute snout meal, should never order a ribeye in a Mexican restaurant anyway. When we had finished, we asked for our check and to see the manager again. We paid and waited another 10 minutes. We asked again to see her, the waitress went to check. After another 10 minutes we decided to just go look at the room. The hostess asked where we were going and I told her what we we doing. She stopped us from going to the room and went to the back. Another lady came out of the back and said she was very sorry but the manager has had one phone call after another and could come out. I said, I just wanted to see the venue and walked back to that part of the restaurant even though it was now evident this restaurant did not want out business. I don't know what was so important on the phone not to show us the room, but this restaurant lost a 100 people party on a Tuesday night(open bar), so they must not need the business. We found another venue that was happy to take our money.
