Italian quality food in a nice environment

By Jussara Nunes P |

This is one of my favourites restaurants in the The Grove shopping mall, in LA. It is cozy, specially in the tables placed for outside seating. The food is really well prepared and authentic Italian. I loved their Caprese salad with burrata, which is a delicious cheese that melts when open. I went there more then once with my family and every time we enjoyed very much our food. The service had no special remarks and it was good as I remember. With the nice sunny days from LA, seating in the outside tables is a must. but can be difficult to find a place in that area in the rush hours of the shopping.

Brilliant, yummy

By kerrydean62 |

Never been to The Grove before and we arrived hungry. A really nice spot looking onto the cool surrounds that are The Grove so we were happy to go in and try it. The food was beautiful and the service was great. A great find and we'll be back next time we're in town.

Great food!

By Sully_009 |

We dined here recently late afternoon after a day of sightseeing & had an enjoyable experience. The pasta (carbonara) was excellent & reportedly so were the spaghetti & meatballs. Wine list was also good.

Indifferent service. Poorly made salads

By Catherine |

How can salad with dressing be tasteless?both orders-Caesar and grilled chicken chop- lacked salt. Pizza was only saving item. Waitress knew we were sharing all three things. Had to ask for plates. Had to ask for serving utensils. Had to ask for ground pepper. Had to ask for evvo for bread. Had to ask for water to be refilled. Good grief. We are tired of asking. And this place isn't even busy. Can't recommend.

Great food

Just perfect

By Fawaz A |

Appetizers was amazing I ordered the fried calamari it was perfectly done, I took the mushroom risotto it was perfectly done and perfectly executed, the atmosphere was perfect the staff was unbelievably professional and kind and very welcoming definitely I will be returning, God bless and keep up the good work, one more thing pricewise it's unbelievably underpriced they should increase the prices....

Don't expect much

By Gigi S |

The night we dined here was very busy. After waiting a half hour in line we were seated at the back facing an lank wall beside the bus station and entrance to the kitchen. We attempted to switch to Tables but further waiting was not an option. Two of us ordered the confusing squash tortolini/ravioli and side vegetables. The vegetables were described as zucchini, squash and spinach. We dived into the pasta only to discover that they were in fact cheese filled and the orange coloured pasta must be where the squash was. But lo and behold one of the tortolini was not like the others - it in fact contained a squash filling! We asked the waitress who removed the dish and took it into the kitchen only to return saying that is how it goes. Hmmmm weird. Now had to ask what happened to the missing vegetables - they arrived shortly before we consumed our last bits of pasta. It was a plateful of carrots and zucchini. Whatever- but alas our neighbours who also ordered said vegetables included brocolli in addition to the carrots and zucchini. Glasses were dropped and crashes on floor by our table and also seemed to be where servers stood. No manager checked in to see how things were. Can't recommend this place-wish I could.

Great location, good food!

By choosey1 |

This Italian restaurant is located at one of LA's most happening locations, The Grove. Ask for a table on the patio and you will not find a better spot to people watch! The service was excellent and the food was good. Soup, bread, pasta and dessert were all good.

Lovely space for outdoor dining with family.

By Lorraine M |

We were two couples and a baby and chose to eat outside on the patio. Even though the day was hot and muggy, the shaded patio surrounded by large trees was very comfortable. The service was excellent! Several bus boys and the waiter attended to our every need. The Caruso salad with grilled chicken and tomato with lettuce was nicely spaced with garlic. The shrimp salad was also good with an abundance of shrimp in the bowl. The grilled chicken breast and the Quinoa salad also got high marks. The toddler with us was provided with a high chair immediately and a large glass of cold milk in a sippy cup. We listened to a lively concert on the green as we dined. The toddler was able to dance on the cement patio, and we were able to converse without straining to hear each other. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

Italy @ the grove

By DRAGONO H |

Having dinner here w family. Overall the food quite nice w very friendly service. Vast Italian wine selection.

Expensive but good. Welcome not always pleasant

By Vanessa B |

The dishes are good, my husband being Italian we liked it but it is expensive compared to the price we pay for pasta. The mixed race waiters were very friendly, however the second time we came across a very unpleasant blonde waitress who was angry, we had the impression of bothering her more than anything else, very closed and not smiling, the cooks the same. The portions are too big, the arrabiata is way too spicy, it hides the taste of the other foods. Those alla vongole are good and with garlic, burrata too, meatballs too. Small problem: it lacks seasoning

Very good dinner at La Piazza Ristorante

By Walsung |

My family had dinner at La Piazza on New Year's Day and had a really nice time. We were seated outside on the second story balcony overlooking the fountains. The trees in the entire piazza were covered in white lights, and the fountain was going. It was a very nice environment to sit, talk, and have some wine and dinner. The pasta dishes were all excellent, with the carbonara and lasagna dishes getting high marks for their freshness and taste. The Tuscan Bean soup and salads were also good, as were the desserts. We also found the prices to be reasonable. Service was a little slow, but was friendly and professional. All in all this was the best dining experience of our recent trip to LA.

Great location

By VaKo |

The best thing about this restaurant is the location. Atmosphere is just amazing. It has the best spot in the Grove. Food is decent. Nothing special really. It is typical Italian restaurant. Good pizza. It is worth coming here for the ambience.

Lunch with my daughter

By JoBrophy |

This lovely restaurant finished our Mother/Daughter day off perfectly. We were traveling from Australia and had a day at The Grove - highly recommend this restaurant. My tip - get a seat outside so you can people watch.

Good pasta

By michl101 |

The squid ink pasta was divine. Not too salty and yet the flavor was just right. Skip the pizza which was, although of a generous size, average. Service wasn't the best but good enough. They topped up the bread basket without us asking. Ambience was good too.

Ok food

By GoldenGuinea |

I stopped here for lunch one day while I was visiting the Grove and Farmer's Market. I had a Corona and ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese. The beer was overly cold and the pasta was alright. Nothing special. The sauce was mostly forgettable. It was too dry like it had been sitting too long.On a positive note, the outdoor seating was pleasant and if you are a people watcher like I am, you will love being on the patio next to the main pedestrian thoroughfare of the Grove.

Super Pizzas, super Salad, super Service

By morgieporgie |

Visited recently with our three boys, and as it was warm, was looking for somewhere cool, but not inside and good but not "over the top" ( Fat Cow?!) we got a great ( big round ) table, without any hassle, chose Pizza and a Calamares salad, both very good, leafs could have used a little more dressing maybe, but olive oil and vinaigrette were on the table. Ray, our waiter - not from Italy, but Chile - gave us a super friendly service, and made our lunch stop a real pleasure. The view, the atmosphere, the friendliness in general was real Californian - even in a Mall, which, incidentally was a very good one ( and we know a few...) Top marks The Farmers market just adjacent has also a choice of places to eat, but less elegant - looked at the Fat Cow, but the smell of Popcorn wasn't encouraging, we weren't going to the movies...!!

Great Pizza, Food Selections, and Location!

By Michaela H |

La piazza is a beautiful two story Italian restaurant located in the beautiful Grove of Los Angeles. I came here in February with a group of friends and we were amazed at the variety of food and had some foods that we've never heard of, such as squid ink pasta (my friend got it and she thought it was really good)! I got the vegetarian pizza, but since I'm vegan, I was able to take the cheese off and the waiter said it comes without pizza sauce but that I was able to add some on there free of charge as a substitute for the cheese. It was $18 for the whole pizza, and it was huge, really filling, loaded with veggies, and, most importantly, delicious and worth the money! The whole table also gets free, never-ending bread rolls!

Pleasant Restaurant for Lunch

By William H |

Located in The Grove, a relaxing place for lunch and people-watching. Inside/outside dining. Seafood stew was hearty and delicious. My wife has pasta carbonara, which was excellent. Service very good.

Ok Italian in shopping centre

By rob1london |

We had a nice meal in the Grove shopping centre, good Italian food but slightly expensive. The calzone is good and the desserts are surprisingly authentic.

HIGHLY RECOMENDED

By doc_in_cancun |

The restaurant is a must if visiting The Grove, either on their terrace or inside, the staff is very friendly, and the food is to die for, their pastas, appetizers, main dishes, all recommended .

Not What It Used To Be

By PAtraveler109 |

Went to this Italian restaurant a few months ago, ate inside the dining room & had great service with a wonderful waitress & great food BUT this time the experience was horrible! During this visit we sat outside overlooking The Grove's fountain in the sunshine but our waiter & food were not good this visit. The waiter was not attentive---food was not good like before, did not get refills for drinks when needed, & he even gave us someone else' s more expensive check, which it took us over 10 minutes to get his attention to correct it!!! All we saw was the waiter walking around, talking, & kissing women not seated at the tables--women also coming up to him steadily---poor service & food...???? if this was just this instance but the 2 experiences in service & food were so different that it's difficult to recommend this restaurant.

Big on Serving, Food Quality: Just Ok

By mga_law |

Typical Italian restaurant ambiance. Nice location within The Grove. Big serving, but not quite as delectable as I have anticipated. Perhaps, it would have been better to have asked what their bestsellers are. Will I go back? Maybe, to try some other dishes.

Fantastic food and service!

By mamaduck131 |

I have eaten here many times. I have never had a bad meal or bad service. The location is beautiful with upstairs and downstairs dining. You can see the beautiful water feature from the restaurant and do some great people watching as the restaurant is at The Grove in Los Angeles. The prices are on the higher side, but well worth it!

Great dining experience!

By Ray M |

Our friends invited us to dinner at the Grove and we dined at La Piazza. With the Covid rulles in effect we had to sit outside, which wasn't all that bad. The menu is very extensive with offerings of Bruscette, Antipasti, Soups, Salads, Pizza, Fish and Meat dinners, and a great variety of fine wines. Two of us chose the Spaghetti Alle Vongole that was delicious. My wife chose the Ravioli Ricotta e Spinaci that she enjoyed very much. We had several different wines and each was excellent. After dinner we noshed on Calamari Fritti with Shrimp that was very good. For dessert some of us chose the Creme Brulle, which is a very good selection. The waitstaff were very professional, attentive and polite. I highly recommend La Piazza. I hope you find this review helpful in making your next dining plans.

Outdoor lunch

By Jeremy T |

The grove itself is an interesting outdoor mall. There are many choices of restaurants and it adjoins the farmers market. The best thing about our lunch was our server Luna who spoke several languages, a charming and extremely pleasant person. I enjoy sitting outside and watching the world go by, the Caesar salad was really very good, and the pizza just average. However I would go back.

Touring Los Angeles

By Catia Spencer |

Touring Los Angeles, we took a stroll to The Grove, an open-air shopping area, just to enjoy the Christmas decor and have a drink at La Piazza. Quick and gentle service, with open desk for you to see the vaivém of people and their frenesis. We ordered Lula a dore and a foccacia accompanied by Chianti. For the place the price is consistent to Los Angeles, where everything is more expensive than other parts of the world, the bill 90,00 dollars 2 people and only one cup of Chianti.

Great people watching spot. Great white pizza.

By AuntTink |

Sat outside by the railing watching people on the day after Thanksgiving. Loved watching the crowds go by. Had a delightful, white pizza and service was good and we were not hassled to leave the table. So it was a great lunch. Would definately go back again. Only downside is the restroom is upstairs. I have a bad knee and did the stairs but if you have someone with mobility issues check that out.

Great LA Summer Afternoon Eats

By LenaHollywoodMuse |

A nice spot at The Grove off Fairfax in LA, to sit, have a bite, drink Sangria, keep cool, and chill during the summer concerts

Really overpriced!

By furstinkato |

This restaurant has a really nice terrace, where it's pleasant to spend time. I ordered pasta with salmon and a cocktail. Cocktail for was nice, but pasta was nothing special and costed me 26$.staff was friendly, but my bill was brought when I haven't even finished my meal. Hope they didn't mean that I should go away quicker.

Drinking > Shopping

By Rafeek626 |

Stopped by for drinks with the hommie while the ladies shopped. Drinks + good service + people watching + not shopping with Danielle = Five star visit. The only negative about my visit was that my wife found the time to get herself a new Apple Watch.

Help Dave

By APPARELALA M |

WARNING TO EVERYONE...if you go to LA Pizza at The Grove don’t forget to add few more dollars to the tip for the bill or Dave the manager will chase you for it! I give them less then 1 star for what they did to me and hope I was their last customer. Food was really bad. Dave, the manager was so rude to us and embarrassed me front of my guests. The bill came out to $200 and I paid that with my CC including a good tip after we left. Dave fallowed us outside of the restaurant and stoped us rudely and asked for few more dollars tips. The way he came to us for few more pennies I thought my credit card declined. Worst customer service ever!!! It is the last time we will order food from them very disappointed.

Beautiful and yummy

By Peggy R |

This is a beautiful restaurant the service was very good and the the meal I had was excellent . I ordered the "Spicy Shrimp and Calamari, it was seasoned perfectly and cooked just right. Spicy but not too hot. The deserts are a must! The tiramisu, ca nobles, and cream puffs were worth the calories. Next time ( or first time)you visit The Grove in Los Angeles give this restaurant a try I think you will love it.

Yum!

By Jenna F |

My mom and I ate here tonight, our first night in LA. It was delicious! My mom ordered the gnocchi which was amazing. I got the shrimp risotto.. one of the best I've ever had! Portions seemed pretty big so plenty for leftovers. Would go again!

Amazing food and service

By Manjari G |

The best pasta I have ever eaten! The warm bread with vinegar and olive oil was so delicious that we gorged on it too much to do justice for the pasta and salmon salad we ordered! Their tomato soup was quite tasty and so was kids spaghetti bolognese- huge portions too! Service with a smile through out the meal. Want to go back again :)

Great meal at La Piazza

By Heatm27 |

After visiting The Farmers Markets at The Grove we decided to stay on and enjoy dinner at La Piazza Restaurant. This restaurant is situated at Unit G30 189 The Grove Drive and is pet friendly. The entrance looks out onto the fountain area in the middle of the grove. I didn't know what to expect as it was a spur of the moment decision, not a planned reservation. I had actually misread the sign on the way in and thought it said La Pizza so yes, I was thinking pizzas. But I got so much more. This is a good class restaurant with excellent waiter service. All of whom were very efficient and very friendly. And the food was delicious. We had a party of seven, everyone ordered a different meal and everyone exclaimed how nice their meal was. I think that says a lot. Usually a restaurant is known for one or two good dishes but it seems these guys could produce seven. Well done La Piazza. And not one of them was a pizza!

Good ambience good food

By MNSB |

At grove this is finest restaurants.. Italian cuisine has inside outside and upper sitting Good food and ambiance facing grove fountain it is among the best restaurants

Best People Watching in Beverly Hills!

By PaulW5401 |

We came for lunch in late September. The weather was perfect for outdoor dining. We enjoyed the RapeECaprino salad and the Margherita pizza. The waiters were attentive and friendly. But the prices are little bit expensive! If you want to watch the "gorgeous people" then ask for a seat on the outer edge of the patio; it's the best people watching in town!

Incredible food.

By Wordsofsass |

Went there to have lunch with my boyfriend after walking around in the Grove. I got the Carbonara pasta and it was delicious. Service was great as well. We sat on the terrasse, so good food with good view, it was all very nice! Super romantic as well! It is a bit more on the expensive side, but it is all worth it. Large choice of italian food, pizzas and pasta. The dream!

Nice Find, great atmosphere

By craneage |

Beautiful place to eat, we got a table outside overlooking the fountain, the atmosphere and music was spot on. Hubby had a pizza which was ample in size and great tasting. I had the ravioli which was also really good. A cocktail and beer, total cost of meal and drinks 91 dollars. Special shout out to our server Greg who was very attentive and fun.

Food for everyone

By Lasse Nordvik Wedø |

Lie Piazza is located right next to the fountain, inside The Grove. Very easy to find. They have settings inside and outside, and have good service. The menu is not to big, but big enough to find something for everyone. As the name indicates, most of it is inspired by Italy. The food was good, and we received great service. The prices were as expected in a busy location like this.

Evening Dinner after shopping

By Kenwyn R |

Enjoyed a laid back dinner following a day out Quality was good Price was ok ....could be cheaper Great atmosphere

great place to sit and people watch/ ok food

By vito l |

Great overall experience. I mean if you're expecting amazing food, this might not be the place. but if you want a quick fix, and you're at the grove...come on in! my pizza was average, my wife's shrimp salad was great. prices are above average and service is pretty good. don't expect service with a smile, but then again... this is LA, no surprise there!

Overpriced at average/poor food quality!

By McS1992 |

Overpriced restaurant and the food is nothing special. Staff friendly however they got out order wrong and our vegetarian meal came with sausage!! How that works is beyond me? Appears to be a place catering for the masses and not concentrating too much on their customers! Would not recommend.

Fantastic Food

By Shari B |

Visited with my family and everything was great. The service was awesome and the food was super fantastic!! Will definity visit again next time am in the area.

Lunch

By SunshineMontreal |

We stopped for a light lunch 🍴 We decided to eat before shopping in “ The Grove “ A very trendy and fun place to Visit when you are in Los Angeles! But it was a rainy / cool Day so once we were on the terrace eating it doesn’t matter that we missed a shower or two ! My friend had pasta with peas , my husband had the salad with salmon and I had eggplant entree ! All yummy !

Terrible welcoming...

By JANVISAR |

It is a lovely rainy afternoon in LA, perfect for a movie at The Grove. This place has an empty terrace, and we wanted to sit while watching the rain, enjoying a glass of wine and having a bite. We were told by the unhappy host that we could not sit at their wet empty patio if we were not going to have full dinner, and we were sent to the bar... nice way to welcome people giving them the opportunity to never go back. Now we are sitting right across, at The Fountain Bar, lovely patio by The Grove fountain, nice music, lovely drinks and food. Cheers!

Slow Service with Average Food.

By _liam_abbott_ |

Food was average (hence the three stars) and the service was slow and just not nice. My water only got refilled once during the course of our meal and the water glasses were super tiny. No check in from our waiter about how our meal was. I would definitely saying there is better food in the area for a much cheaper price.

Ok!

By nabeab |

This place is at The Grove in LA. Very well located, but food was nothing special. The menestrone has no taste, pizza ok, lasagna tiny and the mushroom spaguettis were good. I will not go back, fid not like it. Service good!

Trendy restaurant for a bite to eat

By Charis2009 |

Average food (Italian), but the location is convenient with indoor and outdoor seating. Good people watching

Much better than expected

By Badiha |

Wasn’t expecting much but their cheese pizza was really good (and tasty!) even though it was very greasy. It’s insanely expensive though but service was nice.

Overpriced and lousy service

By recoveringfool |

Very busy and only 5 min wait but placed outside near the propane heaters but still freezing. Complained and was going to leave but they set us up a table near the staircase and on top of another table where my back was up against the guest behind me. Waiter came by 10 mins after sitting and got our order right away which is all good, however the calamari had a French fry in it and waited 15 mins to get my water refilled and waited another 35 mins after completing our meal to get our check. 1 1/2 hrs to eat an over priced pizza and $20. for an appetizer just not worth it at this place and will never eat there again

Exceptional location, delicious food.

By Gianino Mora |

A very beautiful place, located in a very beautiful square, warmth and a lot of friendliness on the part of Veronica hostess, the quality of the food far exceeds the quality of the drinks. If you go with the ideal company like me; you will live a very nice moment. Recommended.

Authentic Italian pasta, no cheese sauce in sight - thankfully!

By mrkencho |

Sorry to my American friends, but Italian American restaurants usually load up the dishes with cheese sauce and they're not great. Now and again you come across a good one. This is one of them! The pasta was home made and good. The pizza was oven baked and the deserts were home made too. It's not cheap, but good ingredients cost money. To my mind, it was worth every penny and I'd go back next time I'm at the Grove.

Good food, great atmosphere, great service

By sofysbargains |

Location and atmosphere are great. Food is very good, if you’re a foodie you might be more critical. Lots of seating, didn’t have to wait. Balcony has a nice view.

Right in the mix of everything if you sit outside

By Tyson C |

We stopped here during winter as we usually do. Its always crowded but we got lucky and got a seat outside along the walk way. So we started drinking. We each had cucumber martinis and a raspberry lemon drop martini. Each were exquisite. Its great people watching sitting outside along the walk way.

Dont come this place disgusting pizza

By Chesko |

The size its ridiculous and the mass of the pizza disgusting Much better a supermarket pizza 34€ for a pizza thats sucks service good but quality of the product its disgusting

Wonderful lunch at wonderful restaurant

By Chris H |

After a great stroll through the grove we stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is very nice and the outdoor patio offers great shaded to cover on a summer day. We brought both dogs with us and had a nice quiet lunch. Four of us shared two pizzas and two salads. The food was tremendous. The pizzas reminded me of our many trips to Italy. The service was great. The waiter kept our glasses full of cold water with ice. The bread was warm and soft and served with a really nice olive oil. I would recommend coming here anytime. We will definitely be back.

Good restaurant

By MonyLux |

Good restaurant and good Italian food. The atmosphere is ok and we liked the service (possible in several languages). It really does the job. So do not hesitate if you want to have a bite at the Grove.

Dining al fresco

By Ambersea |

Spring is here in beautiful Los Angeles. With temperatures in the mid 70s, we chose to sit on the patio and enjoy the beautiful dancing water in the fountain and watch the crowds. Yes, there were crowds on a Tuesday late afternoon. We started out with Guazzetto di Pesce $22.00 Traditional Italian Fish Soup with Clams, Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp, Cherry Tomatoes and Marinara Sauce. Served with Grilled Garlic Bread. Absolutely delicious and filling. We asked them for a small amount of penne to add to our soup after we had munch the clams and mussels. That was a great idea! We ordered our entrees and they arrived about the time that we had finished our fish soup. We both felt full already, so asked them to pack it to go. This was mine: Grigliata di Calamari e Gamberi (Spicy) $28.00 Spicy Grilled Shrimps, Herbs Grilled Calamari, grilled Zucchini and Cherry tomatoes Served with spicy Marinara sauce on the side. My friend ordered: Bistecca alla Griglia $32.00 Grilled 16oz Bone In, 28 days Dry Age beef New York served with Garlic Rapini and Mashed Potato Served with Red Wine Honey and Herbs Reduction, on the side. We went back to the apartment and divided the food and I had a nice sized lunch for the next day.

Good fountain view seats

By jaehok351 |

It was in the middle of the Grove mall. We were able to get a table by the fountain and enjoyed the music fountain show. Sipping beer with nice music was a true relaxed moment. Except the slow service, everything was good.

Very nice food, and huge portions- a good place to go in the Grove

By Pepper |

You can split these dishes and have a full meal- they definitely give big plates. Our cocktails were terrific- and my chicken in lemon sauce and capers was very good- but definitely enough for two. My colleague loved the Bolognese and the Risotta was likewise admired by my other friend. We were too stuffed to try the deserts but were pleased with our find - very nice inside and out- the ight on the patio was beautiful but the booths inside were also cozy and safe.

Average food

By Adi J |

Over priced average food . We ordered spinach ravioli which was undercooked! The service wasn't great either and we felt the servers were rather rude! Average price of a drink was about 15$.

Horrible service!

By RoxinBA |

Went there for new year's eve dinner. The food was nice but the service was simply horrible. The the arrogant attitude which almost crossed the line to rudeness (of everybody) was simply unbearable and ruined our dinner. This is the first time ever that we leave a note complaining about service. Don't waste your money here!!

Food court food at upscale prices

By sheriff88 |

Perfectly acceptable food. Waitstaff is overburdened and aloof at the same time. Probably jaded by the celebrities walking by. It's a good location, near the fountain at the Grove, but not a stellar dining experience. Good for people watching if you get a table with a view. Food average, not a special menu at all. It's better than before the remodel, but what did they change? I couldn't tell. Good place to wait while the movie start time approaches. (Cineplex is across the mall-street.)

Not worth revisiting…

By Luv_ Rachmaninoff_No2 |

It’s our first time visiting the Grove as well as this restaurant. The ambience is amazing overlooking the shops but the food is overpriced for mediocre pasta. The calamari appetizer was very good and it was served with a large bowl of dipping sauce, which was nice. The homemade pasta was overpriced (over $30) and the serving size was very small, definitely not worth it. Their regular pasta (non-homemade) was more reasonably priced but next time we’ll opt for a cheaper pasta at the Farmers market next door. The restaurant provided parking validation but it was useless since it’s only good for two hours, which we weren’t aware.

Order messed up

By Shahid Butt |

Food was good. Ambience nice as well. But they missed out on of our diners order and then took an eternity to serve it. Everybody is long finished and the course it still nowhere near being here. We also waited 6-7 minutes for simple come refills. Come to think of it there service was very patchy. Interested to see if they charge us for the late order. They shouldn't as an act of courtesy. Of the order hadn't gotten missed if give it 4 stars

Great food and service with Gluten Free pasta option

By Paul F |

Went to the grove and farmers market following a recommendation from a friend. Very nice area to wander around with high end shops. Restaurant very welcoming offering typical Italian fare but more importantly offered a gluten free pasta option for my daughter. It would be good for them to look for a gluten free pizza base to offer as an option as well. Service was great from very friendly and professional staff. Would happily recommend.

Great People Watching & Dining

By SwimSoccerMom |

In town to drop our college student. Everything about the Grove is fun even when crowded on the weekend. Dancing fountain, shopping and just people watching. Sat on the patio for dinner next to fountain and enjoyed the food and the service. Salads good, lobster delicious and excellent service. Sit and relax here and won't feel rushed.

A pricy "Wanna be" Italian with terrible service

By PieroMadrid |

I took my family there to celebrate my wife's birthday yesterday. The waiters were not paying attention to our requests and they displayed a very rude behavior. Very unprofessional. As an Italian, I find the food the be a poor representation of what we eat in Italy. The pizza was ok, but the risotto was terrible. We had to return it back to the chef. To get water we had to bother 3 different waiters, and finally we got it after 15 minutes. The bill was wrong, and we had to ask for a recalculation. Certainly not worth it. I will definitely not return back there.

Gigantic Pizzas!

By CTR15 |

Stopped here for lunch whilst shopping at the Grove. Great views of the outdoor shopping centre and the pizzas were huge and delicious. A tad expensive but so was everything else in the complex.

Very good food and service

By Baking Squirrel |

Typical ITALIAN food and hospitality! Delicious complimentary breadbasket. Had the Minestrone soup and Alfredo Penne...excellent!! Service very attentive and our waiter kept our glasses full with delicious ice cold water amid the heatwave!! Highly recommended - prices reasonable.

Good Italian food

By Bart L |

Nice Italian restaurant with lovely food and great service. Would highly recommended to sit outside on the patio, especially during evening as view of dancing fountains with nice music in the background will make this evening special.

Very good italian food.

By drrosenthal |

I chose this restaurant based on my being in the area and was late eating dinner. I sat at an outside table at the bar area and was quickly greeted by my waiter. I ordered the Spaghetti alle Vongole which is essentially spaghetti with clams. When the dish first came out I did not see any clams but as soon as my fork went in it struck clam shells. I found there to be a lot of clams in the dish, I would say about a dozen that were just the right size, very fresh and not overcooked. The sauce is light and flavorful. There was plenty of food and not an over abundance. The bread the came out was fresh and very good and not tough. The service got a little slow after I got my food. I recommend an outside table to view the fountains and the people as there is a lot of coming and going.

Always nice evening ! Terrace very good

By THENAPOLI |

Second best restaurant in front of movie theater ! Very good spot to look at people and enjoy good food Always something happening Very good for enjoying a night on a terrace with no cars like in Europe

Good food and a relaxed vibe at the Grove

By Phantomreviewer280 |

After a hectic morning following my wife and teenage daughter in and out of shops and weighed down with shopping bags, I was ready for a good meal and Le Piazza did not disappoint. The service was professional and attentive and the food was great. It was a pleasant surprise not to have our plates fully loaded as so many restaurants in the US do. The food was fresh and tasty. A great spot to soak in the christmas vibe at the Grove and do a little people watching. A must for visitors to the Grove.

Decent prices, good food, great view!!!

By Erica R |

I have been to La Piazza twice in the past 6 months while visiting LA. This is a great choice for a meal at The Grove. I paid about $50 and split an appetizer, had a glass of wine, and an entree. We sat upstairs on the terrace and we were able to watch the band and oversee the waterfall and park. Big plus, outside seating has heat lamps.

The intersection of bad service and bad technology

By annette s |

This place used to be a favorite BUT now it is ill run. We walked in telling the hostess we wanted to sit out side since we had out 2 pound dog in tow. She said “yeah just sit anywhere” (not the most intelligent welcome but ok) so we seat ourselves. No one pays any attention. We sit for a LONG time and decide to utilize the ordering from the QR code on the table. Perhaps they completely cut out waiters… maybe this is order by yourself like a deli. So we add items from the menu on the app. The app doesn’t let you add a protein to your pasta but we said that’s ok we will just do plain. Then se get all the drinks and appetizers and entrees onto our self serve order and BAM we get an error code stating… this restaurant doesn’t use this app! The app that the QR code on the table sent us to. I believe this is the crossroads where bad service meets bad technology… the GroveLA and La PIazza at the Grove is a joke. As we left a new hostess who was on duty (that’s how long we were there… shift change) we were told “Buh-bye!” lol still dad grammar and bad service.

Awful food - extremely expensive

By Vcs |

Went for lunch on 31 December. The italian vibe is only in the name. The pesto was nothing like a real one, only similarity was the colour and yet... Pizza was unedible - even for a young hungry teenager which says lots. Aubergine parmegiana was ok and lemon chicken ok. Seating is complicated as waiters run back and forth close to customers pushing tables and chairs so dining experience is horrible. They want you out asap so they can serve the next customer... Bill was extremely expensive for a bad lunch. Avoid at all costs.

Great place for eating outside

By PFC15 |

On a sunny day, after walking around Farmers Market and the shops at the Grove, there is no better place to eat than here. But you have to grab a table outside. It is worth it! Great ambiance, nice staff, good food!

Go for the ambiance beware of prices

By zeeshan66 |

This was the first place we tried at the grove. The food was delicious but the prices were definitely more than expected. $12 for water? Service was nothing special and service felt rushed. We only ate here once on our 2 week trip to LA. For 2 dishes and an app $150 seems a bit of a stretch. Again food was delicious though.

Terrible

By Shaheen H |

Terrible service. They wouldn’t let us sit outside for a quick afternoon drink unless we ordered food. Fine I guess but there were like 5 empty table the whole time we were here. Then they demanded to hold our card. Again, okay we get it we are outside. But the final straw was when we saw them not doing that to others. Not sure the reason so I won’t speculate, but treating customers like that is really not okay. Won’t be back.

Nice Location, Good Food

By FTichy |

The decor is nice, modern and clean. The location is great, right next to the fountain at "The Grove". The service was nice but nothing special. The food was good but thought it was "just another italian restaurant". It's nice option when shopping there, but would not go there just to eat.

Cheesecake Factory wannabe

By franco T |

Standard mediocre Italian food Cheesecake Factory place. Pleases the tourist, food dumbed down to the lowest common denominator

Lunch and shopping

By taffy_longman |

Lunch and shopping my wife's Favorite pastimes the grove ticked all the boxes This was a lovely stop off for lunch great food and service to match the Occassion We really enjoyed the choices on offer and drinks and watched the world go by our table as we people watched This was a great place to take the load of tired feet and ready for the rest of the shopping day that was the plan

The piazza rest.

By Mary R |

Please don't waist your money at this place ... terrible food and VERY SPENDSIVE the food @ markets place is a little better.

Best bread!

By Rasheed I |

The 2 busboys were awesome! Very attentive and friendly. The waitress was above average, too. They have the best bread! But why serve packaged butter?!!! This isn't a fast food sandwich place! The pizzas were above average. Really, the crust is what made them very good. They're a little cheap on toppings... The beet salad was excellent, too. If the butter weren't packaged, and the prices weren't too high for what you get, I'd give this place 5 stars. I understand the rent at the Grove must be astronomically high, though!

Nice Location...

By GeneT60 |

Service was excellent. Good location. Ok. I am done. It was late so we ordered soup and a pizza. Lentil soup was not bad. Lots of lentils. Very very salty! Really salty. Pizza...no flavor ($22). The crust was bland. Nothing to it at all. They did not rub it with oil or anything. Just a nicely shaped piece of cardboard with some fresh cured meat and tons of arugula. The bits of small bread that was served while waiting had little flavor. Place was clean. The bathroom was a mess.

bad service

By Hector R |

Poor service from the hostess desk to our server. The staff made us feel as if we were invisible................................................

Decent

By Shahid Butt |

The place is a little cramped and it’s not totally top of the line. I had the frutti de mare and thought it too be slightly heavy. It was tasty though. The place is cramped and that affects the service a bit. Its a bit commercial but it does the job for a quick meal at the grove

On the evening it was romantic and mellow friendly casual atmosphere.

By julie_delattre |

European Style ! Felt like back at home (French). After getting out of the movie theatre at the grove (Snow White ;) . I had a really good time there with my bf. Dishes of pasta are a pretty good amount so we shared the delicious seafood pasta with my bf and were satisfied. We had music on the back, we were on the terrasse near a heater at night, its a great location. It was romantic and mellow friendly casual atmosphere. We had a very nice time. we were not on a mood for deserts but damn the menu for deserts looked amazing !!! So i would recommend it for everyone!! and especially later at night for a couple who wants to have a nice romantic casual mellow time. Share a dish, get two glass of wine, and share eventually one of the amazing deserts. You will have a very nice cheap quality time ;)

Good Food - Perfect For "People-Watching"

By Sam E |

the service is great...and the patio is perfect for watching the tourists flow by as you enjoy good food and a glass of vino.

Paying expensive for nothing short of food you find at a food court

By Lalaw315 |

Went there yesterday anyone who states this place has great or good food simply do not know what they are talking about or simply never go out. Had the chicken with lemon sauce p, it was so tough had to use a knife at maximum strength. Despite my best efforts there was some pieces of chicken I couldn't cut with the knife should have used a chain saw. My wife ordered a shrimp with pasta, the shrimp was the size of shrimp you could use as bait for fishing. It was terrible no flavor tough and smallest shrimp I ever saw. I haven't been here in 5 years now I see why. The table next to me ordered a pizza it look like mush. It caters to a captive audience that wants to eat outside and people watch. If this place was located any other place it would be out of business in minutes. It is also very expensive. Better off going to Cheesecake Factory or maggianos.

Lovely restaurant

By Eden A |

This is a very nice restaurant in the Grove, which we saw many many times before, while coming to the grove, but never tried it. For years, we always dined at the Cheesecake Factory while visiting the Grove. Yesterday , Saturday, the waiting list for the Cheesecake Factory was 3.5 hours (!), that was insane, so we were looking for another place to eat, and entered that place. The food was tasty, specially the pizza. The customer service was perfect. We really enjoyed our dinner . Give it a try, you will not regret it.

Awesome Customer Service

By Brenda S |

From the minute we approached the restaurant, staff was focused on giving us a positive experience. We were able to get a table for six on the patio. They sat us immediately even though half of our party were still on their way. Our waiter was so personable and attentive. He seemed to enjoy interacting with us a much as we were enjoying interacting with each other. He gave every member of our party his undivided attention and made helpful menu suggestions. The bus staff was also great, running out to bring us our grandson's jacket that he had left behind after we left the restaurant. It was a magical evening for Ohio grandparents to enjoy The Grove's Santa festivities with our California kids/grandkids.

Fantastic restaurant!

By DianeA7777 |

This is a great restaurant! The pasta is made there and the sauce is great. My husband and I both got the spinach ravioli and it was one of the best meals we have had. It is a great spot for people watching and a very relaxing environment. The wait staff were friendly and efficient. I can' t say enough good things!

Perfect, cosy spot at the Grove for a day-time wine!

By Bev H |

Great to stumble into for a glass of rose' and terrific lunch! Staff were very friendly - Visiting from Australia, it was really pleasing to find a place like this after a long drive sight-seeing during the day. The decor is lovely and is definitely a cosy spot to sit back, relax and take in the sights of The Grove LA! Thanks!

Good ambiance, friendly staff

By Jigger-Fred |

We have dinner here recently and it was a good experience. Nice location at the grove, cool ambiance and very friendly staff. Food was good as well.

GOOD, BUT NOT GREAT WITH SOME INTERESTING OFFERINGS.

By TravelAgentDave |

More than basic Italian and less than alta cucina. What we 4 had was good with no surprises plus or minus. All the usual suspects are on the menu with a couple of exceptional choices. The octopus antipasto was exceptional and you don't find many restaurants this side of Sardinia that use bottarga, which is a dried fish row, as a flavoring for some of their pasta dishes.I would not consider this a destination restaurant, but if you are at The Grove and have already had lunch in The Farmers Market next door, then this could be a good choice for dinner.

Perfect luncheon

By wiriask |

Visited the Grove with friends and this was our last place before going back to the airport. My friend is vegetarian so wanted to choose a place where there is good choice of vegetarian and meat - the menu of La Piazza fitted our requirement. Got a table at the terrace which was lovely. We were able to see the water show. We ordered ceasar salads and also a pizza to share between three of us. For drinks we had cosmos. Food was excellent and perfect for the weather. Service was also very good. After we paid the bill our waitress asked whether we need to have our parking validated - we completely forgot but ended up having free parking !!! Definitely great place to have a luncheon with excellent food.

Ok

By Joe C |

We went for dinner after shopping at the Grove. We sat outside which was very nice. The atmosphere was great. The service was good but the food was nothing special. We wouldn't return.

Authentic Italian

By srz4778 |

Great authentic Italian food! Lots of variety on the menu. our waitress (Luna) was outstanding wow, what a gem! She was very patient and told us her favorite items on the menu, and answered all of our questions. I cant remember what dish I had but it was amazing along with the other 3 peoples dishes that were with me.

Great food, sensational people watching

By Maripat B |

We had dinner at this restaurant in The Grove hours before leaving for Tahiti, so were looking for a good meal to stick with us for several hours. LaPiazza did not disappoint. The host was especially accommodating, seating us outdoors fairly quickly even though it was a busy Sunday night. Service was also good. The server was efficient and pleasant, which was refreshing. I had a pizza and my husband had a sandwich. Both were excellent and filling. If you're visiting LA and looking for a nice place with good food with a great people-watching opportunity, this is your place.

Lunch

By SaMojo |

Nice restaurant at the grove, great service, a bit more upmarket than most mall restaurants. Excellent waiter service, delicious food and nice position by the "Piazza". If you love Italian food, well worth stopping for lunch here.

The Taste of Italy... Right in The Grove!

By Angela A |

Words can really not express the delicious aroma that wafts out into the Grove, a dining and shopping mecca in the heart of Los Angeles. La Piaza offers up traditional Italian cuisine, with a touch all their own that could never be duplicated. If you plan to eat while you are in LA, then you are doing your taste buds a terrible disservice if you do not dine at least twice at La Piazza! Everything here is delicious. Even the bread does not taste like regular bread. It, also, is under the delectable spell that has been cast over such entrees as Tortelloni di Zucca & Funghi, Lasagna al Forno, and a plethora of other pastas, pizzas, and meat specialties. The desserts are bordering on magical, with the Souffle al Cioccolato a must... even if you think that ending your meal with chocolate is out of the question. You will somehow find a space in your stomach to accommodate this wonderful end to a perfect meal! Visit La Piazza online for additional information, or call 323-933-5858.

Not a top choice

By sugarmagnolia8 |

This is very average and not worth the price. Unfortunately, our server wasn't good either so the redeeming feature was the beautiful patio, the sunshine, the good view of the fountain and good for people watching if you are into that kind of thing. There is a lot of food at The Grove, but we just didn't research it and were hungry and it's the first thing we came across. Given that it was very busy, it seemed popular. I think there are a lot more choices and better options. It made me question whether this was a chain. So, choose wisely and at this mall you can make a better choice unless you are strictly into drinks and appys and atmosphere.

Great Italian food at the Grove!

By Ray S |

GREAT Italian food at an "Adult Disneyland" (the Grove). Patio dining overlooking fountains and the lake, complemented by the best "People Watching" in the city. Marvelous choices from appetizers, pizza, pasta, fish, and steaks. Perfect cocktails. Efficient, friendly, prompt service. Partially validated parking. Heaters outside and on the upper deck. Reasonable prices for an above average eatery. Good choice of classic Italian deserts.

Average food, great service and coffee

By CDFBologna |

For having lived 3 years in Italy I did not recognize the quality of the ingredients you get there. The server was very good and friendly though and the coffee of good quality.

Good Italian restaurant, decent food, GREAT location

By mstrctrlprgm |

We had lunch at La Piazza and had a good meal. The food is good, not spectacular, but the location is amazing and the outdoor seating is perfect for a sunny afternoon at The Grove. We felt a little hurried having lunch (it was extremely crowded), and the waitstaff wasn't overly attentive, but the food was decent and the atmosphere was lively and fun. So it's a trade-off - you're going to get a decent meal here. It won't knock you out, but sit outside and you're going to have some great sun, great views, and some convenient fun.

Beautiful setting, good food!

By Kim B |

We had a day out shopping and ended our day off here. We had pizza and it was very enjoyable, but I would say it's more of a special occasion kind of place becaus it's a really nice atmosphere and slightly more expensive than usual so for a date or family lunch it's divine

Great Place for People Watching

By og84 |

And the food is good too! And the service was very attentive, alert, courteous and friendly. The restaurant sits at the central crossing of The Grove shopping center, so that you can watch people coming and going, watch the dancing fountains (with music), take in the scenery, search for celebrities or just unwind. There are downstairs and upstairs dining areas, both inside and outdoors. The outdoor areas are shade protected. Its easy to relax here. The menu selection is not huge but the items generally are well prepared and tasty. The presentation is relatively generic. The restrooms are not a strong point.

MAMMA MIA PEPPERONI PIZZA

By Easybob2014 |

If you want great Italian food this is the spot..I settled for a pepperoni pizza which was delicious but the have it all, salads, pasta and the service is quick and efficient

Lovely

By 22maria2256 |

Food was good although the tuna tartar was salty so had to send it back and when they brought it again it had no fish it was more of a mix salad. The vibe of the resturant was lovely and enjoyed the salad and pizza

Great view of the fountains at the Grove

By Dianne D |

This Italian restaurant at the Grove in LA is a fabulous spot to people watch and see the fountains.Sitting outside is great.I love it for,the atmosphere but my family is not crazy about the food. The caprese salad was great The bruschetta was good.I enjoyed the salmon with goat cheese souffle. My kids were not thrilled with the pizza. I think the food does not equal the setting which is fabulous.

Delicious!

By Chris77CH |

I went to this restaurant with a friend and had fresh home made pasta (pumpkin with mushroom sauce), and it was delicious! Authentic Italian cuisine in a nice setting. I couldn't finish my plate though but for once was happy to take the leftovers home. The service was friendly and the Italian waitress also spoke French fluently which was very nice of her. The terrace is lovely and the fountain show in front is pretty, but beware if you want to have a discussion, the music coming out of the fountain is loud...

Excellent!

By marodint |

Definitely my favorite Italian restaurant in LA and hey, I am a local! Love their pastas and wines. Had my birthday there many times, always good food and excellent service. Perfecto!

Great people watching spot!

By AuntTink |

Great restaurant for people watching. Bad part is you have to pay in advance to secure your reservation outside. The service was great. We had a seat by the water which was great as I caught up with a friend I had not seen in a while. We shared a pizza!

Enjoyable place

By Mahakavi |

We were here to celebrate Mothers Day and had a lovely lunch. Great Italian spread, slightly expensive - but hey this is at The Grove! Extremely well-prepared dishes with great service. Truly enjoyed the afternoon with the family. Go to LACMA and then walk over to the Grove for lunch at La Piazza and spend time at the promenade over a weekend day - you'll truly enjoy it!

Great place for large dinner

By Jane D |

We went here with family. Very accommodating and got to sit outside! Delicious homemade noodles! Pricey for what we are use to on east coast, but worth it! Get the brushetta app!

Average Italian food

By David from La Palma |

The Italian dishes are just average, nothing special. It is nice to sit outside on the balcony overlooking the Grove. Service was slow, although it was very crowded. Wine was pricey.

Good, lively place

By stefan e |

Had a quick dinner after a day in the park. Food was good, fair price for the place (super central, lot of people and tourists). Service is so-so la-la.

Tasty Italian in a great location

By Creg S |

While shopping at The Grove, we decided to eat at a place that we had never eaten at before, and were pleasantly surprised. First, I'll say that we ate an early evening meal at about 4 PM so the restaurant was not overly busy, however, there were still plenty of patrons. We asked to sit out in the patio area. There we could people watch and also watch the dancing waters of the fountain next to us. The fountain "performed" to music which was very enjoyable. Our waiters took care of us promptly and attended to our every need. We ordered salads which were excellent and those we saw getting pasta seemed to enjoy their meals. The meals were piping hot because you could see the steam radiating from the food when served. There were people of all ages from children to the elderly eating there. The average entree runs about $20 or so. If you want good food and get to eat outside, you'll have an enjoyable time.

Traditional Fare

By Stephen M |

Basic Italian cuisine well prepared and tasty. Not excessively overpriced, nice outdoor seating. Perhaps not a destination, but if you are in The Grove and want a sit-down meal, La Piazza delivers a good enough meal in a pleasant venue.

Bon Appétit!

By Nick P |

Anytime we go shopping at the grove, we eat...Italian style! We do so at La Piazza. Very extensive and delicious menu, my personal recommendation being the Tagliolini allo Scoglio. Great wine selection as well. Venire per il cibo, il soggiorno per l'atmosfera! Ciao!

feels like home

By Guillermo M |

as a group of 10, we are no easy party to deal with, specially if you arrive at 9PM on a week night. However, the people at La Piazza did their best to gave us a wonderful experience. Food is very good, prices are reasonable (though I recommend to ask for suggestions), service is very attentive and efficient. Got there again a couple night's after our first visit, same great experience. Also The Grove is a wonderful area to visit ... Recommended!

Great for lunch by the fountain at The Grove

By SeaTraveler15 |

Coordinated a meet up with a business colleague at The Grove. Found this place to a lovely lunch location with the outdoor tables by the fountain. Got a perfect Caesar salad and enjoyed great service too!

Lovely atmosphere Italian

By ejgeigel |

Stopped by for impromptu anniversary dinner. A little bit of a wait, but worthy. Shared the Margherita pizza with a glass of Fin du Monde beer, and had a lovely dinner. The weather and the night ambiance at night helped.

Poor value for money

By 25bex |

Like others, we chose this restaurant because if you can get a table on the terrace you'll get really nice views of the fountains, and often live music. That's about it for positives though: the food is expensive, which would be ok if it was anything above average. Service is absolutely terrible: our main server was an American woman, who seemed to do very little herself but order round another waiter. It turned out (after we had asked for a couple of things and received no reply) that the waiter in question didn't speak any English, but after I switched to speaking in Spanish, he was brilliant and very attentive. However, this obviously isn't an option for a lot of people, and it seems unfair on both the waiter and the customer that he should be placed in a front of house role where his language skills are insufficient. Gratuity is added on automatically at 18%, which may be customary in the USA but we felt was incredibly presumptuous given the level of service we received, so we had it taken off. My only regret is that we were unable to tip the Mexican waiter directly because he had been ordered off to do something else...

Bar Review

By Dche85 |

While shopping in The Grove, I stopped here for a drink and a snack. I am not sure what the other reviewers are saying about dinner because they have a high rating and the photos posted shows delicious food..... But when I sat at the bar I got mediocre service and basic basic food. First off, I wasnt even greeted for 20 minutes. I was really ready to get up and leave. There was about 4-5 people running behind the bar (which is tiny) so I am not sure why I was ignored (my RBF perhaps). When I finally did get to order, I asked for the jalapeño margarita, tuna tartar and the bruschetta. I also eventually ordered the artichoke dip. The margarita was not that great..... The tuna needed plenty salt.... The bruschetta you had to actually make. It was a side of tomatoes with bread on the side.... Same with the artichoke... The appetizers are extremely cheap so I can't say I expected to much for the price but the drink hits hard and was definitely not worth it. If you want some cheap bites and don't mind crap service, pop in. They have a great view of the water feature :)

Easy to recommend this restaurant

By Pad00 |

I was a bit worried about eating at the grove. Looking at the restaurants I was wondering if they were tourist traps. I was pleasanty surprised. We took a gamble and chose a random restaurant being La Piazza. Put simple the food was fantastic. The portions were huge and tasty.I shouldn't have had a starter as my main salad was plenty. The pizzas looked incredible. Listening to the people on the table around us everyone seemed happy with their food. As an added bonus the outside tables are great for watching the sea of people move through the grove.

Great place!!

By Lexi C |

Had a wonderful dinner here, eating outside and people watching in The Grove on a Friday night was perfect. The Margherita pizza was delicious and the view of the fountain and trolly made this a really highly recommended experience!

Great pizza, great atmosphere

By Aleksander J |

Went here for some late night dining with my girlfriend. Both the pizza and the pasta were great. Good service and authentic italian beer. Had a great time!

Pricey Pizza and Pasta Place

By Michael M |

Food is very good, offers a traditional Italian menu. Upstairs outside seating offers great views of The Grove. While a nice place, it's a bit too pricey for what it offers.

Straight down the middle

By mrkencho |

The food here is ok, but not out of the park. The service was fine and the ambience buzzy. It's convenient for a pre movie bite to eat but not a destination restaurant. My fillet steak was good but the potatoes had an odd taste and were clearly originally cooked a long time before and whacked in the microwave.

Great location, attentive staff, outdoor & indoor seating

By windiveski |

Visited on Saturday 1:15pm Easter weekend and was able to get an outdoor table for 2. Ordered the Spaghetti e polpette (spaghetti and meatballs) [4 meatballs - good size and very tasty & moist] and Caruso (the chopped chicken salad) [generous portion of grilled chicken and fresh lettuce]. Clean, friendly, quick service and attentive staff. Very nice atmosphere. Outdoor seating with umbrella shade. Tables are a little too close to each other and one or two tables were empty because they were blocked in. Lunch for 2 without drinks/soda was $49 with tip and tax. They validated parking for 2 hours but there must of been an error because our ticket was NOT validated when we departed the covered garage.

Italian restaurant at The Grove shopping centre

By Mariao6 |

The Grove and Farmer's Market is a nice place to go shopping or wandering around. On a very sunny Sunday, with a classic car show and music on the lawn (hence LOADS of families out for the day) we tried to find someplace for dinner. It was a lot more difficult than I thought! Eventually we got a table at La Piazza. The menu was typical Italian fare with Pizzas, Lasagne, Chicken or Veal Milanese, lots of Salads and some Seafood dishes. The food was fine but nothing special, wine and cocktails were a little overpriced and we felt a little pressure to leave the table after about 45 minutes to make way for others waiting outside. Our server was Italian and was really nice and very friendly.

best little outdoor bar

By Gina D |

hung out at the little bar on the outside. The bartender Darius was awesome. He helped us choose several dishes to try. Each one better than the other! Love the food. You can shop and see Extra being filmed. Celebrity sightings if your interested.

Great food and willing to accommodate

By tinaNtravel |

The service was great! Very friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. I was especially pleased that modifications were allowed. The menu only mentions a meat calzone and I was able to instead get a veggie calzone. They have Indoor and outdoor seating upstairs and downstairs. We sat outside right near the fountain, which was quite nice!

Careful w/ the tip

By Cecy L |

That place be is nice. Service ok. They add 22% for tip I ask for the restaurant policy After long time, they said was on writing at the entrance. Was a pice of paper fresh ink. We was very despondent.

Fun seating on the patio - tasty margaritas and pizza

By WiseTravelsUSA |

My husband and I thought we would go for a drink at the Piazza. We requested a seat outside and they were very accommodating even though it was very busy. I had the spicy margarita and my husband had a beer. The margarita was so good I had another one and then ordered a pizza. Both the margaritas and pizza were taste. The service was attentive and the prices reasonable. I would recommend it.

Great location! Great Food!

By Ashleigh Woo |

My husband and I loved the restaurant so much we went twice in a two day period (out of the 3 days in LA). Absolutely amazing location (particularly in the Christmas period). Right in the centre of all the action with views of the Christmas tree, gingerbread house, Christmas music, etc. Food was amazing, must try the prosciutto bread stater thing! Amazing! Highly recommend this place.

OK food, poor service

By Happy Hobbit |

We sat down in the La Piazza as it had outdoor seating and we had been listening to Jake Simpson and his band playing at the Grove (they were brilliant). It's one of a number of fairly-expensive places at this end of the Grove. However, ten minutes later, the band stopped, and that was the beginning of our feelings that we should have moved on elsewhere - feelings that continued for the rest of the meal. The menu seemed a little pricey, but we felt that was to be expected, given the location. The starters arrived, after a bit of a wait, and were very large and quite tasty (bruscetta and an aubergine with parmesan), but we then noted that other tables were receiving baskets of bread which had not been offered to us. While we were still eating ours starters, teh waiter then tried to bring our main courses - the number one 'no-no' of restaurant service, as far as we're concerned. They didn't get as far as our table, as they realised that we were still eating. When they finally returned, some 10 minutes later (we'd cleared the remains of our starters onto our side plates to allow them to deliver the mains), we discovered that my food was cold, though my wife said hers was OK. When we complained, they took my meal away and eventually replaced it with hot food, (which was quite pleasant but not outstanding), but offered no other form of compensation or apology. This was quite early in the evening, so it's not like they were overly busy. We were unimpressed, especially given the prices, so we pointedly left no tip. If you're enjoying the music (and Jake Simpson's band really deserve the word 'awesome'), hang on and wait until they've finished, and then head down towards the Farmers' Market, where there are many more-interesting places at lower prices, where (I suspect) the service may be a little better.

Solid restaurant menu with good ambience, suruoq

By charmking |

We chose this restaurant in this busy shopping center because the kids felt like Italian. Good ambiance and plenty of shopping center action going on just outside. I tried the sea bass which was pretty good, my wife a mushroom risotto, one teen had a pasta that she liked and the other teen had a thin crust pizza. The pizza was one of those expensive thin crust pizzas with hardly an topping on it. She said it wasn't very good and struggled to eat half. Wait staff was okay but he just went through the motion I thought. But in general we were satisfied.

Loved the food and great service as well!

By Jennifermq |

Highly recommend-- family had the calamari, veggie pizza, shrimp salad... it was all very delicious and the wait staff was great and took care of our large party at a busy time on a busy night.

A restaurant at The Grove that borders on total incompetency/La Piazza

By Calsparky |

Saturday September 9 will always be unforgettable now. We checked in at 7:45 pm at the La Piazza at The Grove in Beverly Hills and we were served at 8:45 pm for a steak and a seafood soup. The check ordered was a 10 oz filet mignon for $32.00. What was served was a flank steak similar to the one you get with eggs at Denny's. The manager Simonia, admitted to me that the steak served was NOT the one I ordered and was neither filet or 10 oz. It also had tablespoons of salt on the meat which made it inedible. Simonia also admitted the chef tasted the steak and said it was over seasoned. We watched multiple tables order and eat that came in before us. After not eating anything, the manager, Simonia, has the guts to charge $45 for the other food delivered (minestrone soup and 2 Bud Lights). The waiter Renato acted like waiting an hour when he served people who ate and left after we got there, was just a Saturday night busy problem. Totally unqualified to serve at anything other than a Subway. PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A RESTAURANT THAT WILL FRAUDULENTLY SERVE YOU FOOD KNOWING IT IS NOT WHAT YOU ORDERED BUT TRYING TO CHARGE YOU THE ORIGINAL PRICE. This place should be shut down.

Italian - Convenient but Average Fare

By davebob123 |

Family wanted to walk around 'The Grove,' so we did. Family got hungry, but I didn't want just another expensive hamburger. So, we didn't - we had Italian at La Piazza. Quality ingredients but still lacked that flair and flavor that good Italian brings to the palate. Thus, overpriced for what we got. Get an outside table for people watching. That may have been the best part!

Big mistake

By arkadiuszVancouver |

we did not have much time and we was very hungry so we went to La Piazza. We order pepperoni pizza salad and spaghetti bolognese. The food was horrible - pizza sooo greasy and pasta uneatable - so we left leaving half of the food on the plates and still hungry. Additional damage was the bill I paid $27 just for spaghetti alone and that was my worst spaghetti bolognese to date.

Not the best Italian

By JillyB371 |

As we were shopping at The Grove we thought lets stop for a quick lunch, the service was good but the food wasn't the best Italian we have ever had, we both had Pizza and it was just an average Pizza and with out much taste to it. very disappointing

Ran across this Italian Gem while driving around waiting to check into a Hotel. Great set up considering the restrictions put on Restaurants in Los Angeles right now. Very nice patio seating and they are looking out for their customers as your required to wear a mask while not eating as well as take your temp. before entering the front door. Hostess was very nice as well as the Waitress. I ordered one of their home made dishes "TONNARELLI NERI AI FRUTTI DI MARE". I did not know how to pronounce it but definitely knew how to eat it. Pleasant presentation to the eyes and taste-buds. Left a very full and happy customer and will be a definite stop when I am back in town.

This Restaurant is a Mystery

By Julie G |

This restaurant is a mystery...a mystery that they can cook everything from bread to salads to chicken, pasta, and potatoes and it all has NO FLAVOR. Even the iced tea has no flavor! If that is not enough, everyone from the bus person all the way up to the manager is INCREDIBLY RUDE. La Piazza is overpriced and a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I wish I never had

Excellent food

GOOD LOCATION BY THE FOUNTAIN

By Easybob2014 |

When at the grove this Italian restaurant is located just by the fountain and while having a tasty salad or pasta you can enjoy the surroundings as well..use the local tram service to get there Service was without a smile and the prices are a bit high, other than that i enjoyed my meatball pasta

Much dinero

By Priscilla G |

Overly priced for average pasta and pizza. I had spaghetti a la vongole, it was completely dry and a la carte and $24! Other pasta dishes were priced about the same, OK, if it had been great. Ceasar salad was $15, protein extra $5. $80++ for child's pizza (dry),fries, vongole, and Ceasar salad coke and one glass of wine. Disappointed.

Pricey but nice

We sat at the side bar outside and truly enjoyed it. The drinks were perfect and the appetizers were well prepared. The area seems very busy each time we were there but this is a nice respite.

pleasant

very pleasant and the food is good for casual southern california fare (ie) bbq chicken pizza and salads. It is overly commercial but a fun atmosphere nonetheless, esp with kids who can watch the fountain's dancing water.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere

I don't understand why are people so negative for useless reasons. I was there for dinner couple days ago. The Atmosphere is very pleasant and elegant, the Grove is a great spot. The decor was nice, candles and Italian style. The waitress was Italian, she had great knowledge on the menu and suggested her favorite dishes and wine combinations. Very polite and elegant. We trusted and it was amazing. We started with Tomato and beans soup(unbelievable! so good!), had great home made butternut squash ravioli and ended with juicy oven baked seabass. Ended in a homemade pannacotta (must try), italian espresso and fresh limoncello. Food was delicious, service was quick and friendly. A must try, definitely the best place they have in the Grove

Just Ok

This place was packed, so maybe I just ordered badly. Everything looked delicious, my chicken was a bit bland. The server was slow to respond and when I asked for a refill it was completely forgotten.

What happend here?

By PIREN - et glass og en bit |

We booked a table, but it wasnt ready, we waited for food for ever. The waitress did the best that she could and was an angel and tried to make the best of it. If it wasnt for her it would have been a disaster. They placed us In a side room with such loud music that we couldnt hear ourselves think. Tried to say something to what we believed was the head waiter, but we didnt get much response. I am really sorry to say that it was a bad experiense. What has happend these last couple of years? It was much better before.

Gah. What a disappointment!

By movingtofrance |

Gah. What a disappointment! The food was quite mediocre and the service was awful. We had a Bellini (ok), a lemon raspberry drop (meh), a pomo doro bruschetta (good), lemon caper chicken with potatoes (good) and a house tomato basic pasta (god awful) and two espressos. The bill cane to $120. The service was inattentive. Best to avoid entirely.

Not a Good Experience

We sat outside on the patio, and that was the best thing I can say about our dinner. The food was mediocre at best and the waitstaff was inattentive at first but did improve a little once we ordered. We wouldn't go there again.

Excellent food, prompt service, fun ambiance!

My wife and I were enroute to the theater and stopped at the Grove for a quick bite. We parked and saw some outdoor tables at La Piazza. We each ordered salads and a glass of wine. Outstanding freshness, flavor and service. We plan to return.

The Parking can

Ne challenging so we always utilize the valet out front. This was a family outing and we dined in Lasagna, Spaghetti, Squid Ink Pasta and would recommend . Appetizers we split a nice Caesar Salad and Calamari. The have a large beer & wine list. if the Monkey Fist IPA is flowing then order that. Lots of shopping right out the front door and if dining at night they have a spectacular lighted water show in the fountains

Get a table outside, and eat as The Grove swirls around you. It's a decent brasserie, interesting menu and good pizzas. A little different with the trolley-to-nowhere passing by; an upscale option to the eateries at the Farmers Market.
