Bad service, lousy atmosphere

By Carolyn Spencer Brown |

Food's expensive, wine's trite, restaurant is over-lit (wondering why the bar can feature candles on the tables but the restaurant doesn't), service is just stupid. Lax and careless. Food's mediocre. Mind you, if you're staying here and don't have a car you don't have many options; perhaps that's what the Sofitel is counting on?

Food great but pricey

By Linda M |

The food was really great, but if it wasn't for the special occasion my girlfriends and I were there for, I probably wouldn't have eaten there. It was a bit on the pricey price for the amount of food that was served.

Good

By Reeno19 |

We has a dinner with our 3 years old child. The staff was very nice with us. Our burgers was delicious and we could enjoy our dinner after a long flight from Europe. The location is also comfortable and new.

DISGUSTING NEVER AGAIN

By Joseph W R |

Have been around the world many times and stayed at the Sofitel and usually the food is excellent. Met friend for lunch last week and ordered onion soup which was all onions no soup, cheese was cold and not melted. Ordered Mahi Mahi fish burger. Disgusting; cold served about 2" long and 1/3" thick which filled less than 1/2 of hamburger bun which was not toasted. Sent it back and instead got a bacon cheeseburger which was 1 soggy strip of bacon cheeseburger 1/8" thick and the bun again was not toasted. The coup de gratuity a side of Caesar salad, not enough salad to put on two teaspoons, dressing was lousy. Worst meal I ever had go to McDonalds you will enjoy it a lot more. Absolutely miserable.

Exquisite plates

Using the most known cousine francoise, they offer especial plates to any ocasion, including delicious desserts

Great breakfast, but slow dinner service

By Rowerbabe |

While many of the menu items cost only marginally less than the buffet, I'm glad I chose the "healthy breakfast". Yogurt, fruit plate, smoothie, toast and an egg white omelet with spinach. The portions were perfect and everything tasted fresh. Yummy! My husband chose the buffet, and he enjoyed it as well. Lots of variety, from healthy, to carbs to farmer style. Very courteous, multilingual wait staff. A good choice if you are at the hotel, or in the area and want breakfast. The dinner hour is quite a different story. While the food is good, the wait staff are glacially slow. Our group waited long periods to place an order, receive our food and get a check. The food was good, but be sure you aren't in a hurry.

Excellent Food

By lynelltravels2014 |

Loved the food and the suggestions from the servers about the desserts and drinks to have with our dinner. Excellent atmosphere and wonder view. Perfect.

Surprise BD treat & more......

Please read my review on Sofitel Miami. I discuss my great experience at this Haute Cuisine restaurant.

Great restaurant!

By Adriano A |

The turkey club sandwich or any of their a la carte breakfasts are a must. Ask for a table outside in the evening.

Held hostage!!!

By Allen P |

Decided to start our cruise vacation with breakfast. First mistake! Hostess/ manager put our order in wrong! Only received 3 out 4 orders placed. My wife didn't receive her breakfast until we all were finished. Food was very average at best.... but priced like a 5 star restaurant. Then the Hostess/Manager held us hostage by making us wait almost a half hour for our check ( after repeated requests). The only reason I didn't give it a 1⭐ is because the other employees were trying hard to make up for the management! Please....stay away!

Nice surprise

By Pineapples-a-Plenty |

The one point is that this restaurant is within the Pullman Hotel. There is a different vibe as compared to a “free-standing” restaurant. The tone is more subdued than other spots with a higher energy level. The salmon salad was very tasty. High marks there. We started with their garbanzo soup. Flavorful, but not warm enough. The service was excellent.

Good service, average food

By Ian Ainsworth |

We ate in here for the convenience as we were staying in the hotel and also had arrived into Miami airport late afternoon. The menu is quite short; one main of steak with French fries was fine although slightly overcooked. The other main was risotto with scallops - both were overcooked and the risotto was very rich with too much mascarpone cheese. Wine list had a good selection of wines by the glass. Service was quick and efficient. Overall acceptable and convenient albeit expensive.

Excellent Breakfast

By Poiuy_Qaz |

Everyone loved their breakfast, and for me - the coffee was excellent! The wait staff were very attentive and professional.

Too expensive.

By Samndjsdad |

We ate here once for dinner and once for lunch. While the service was friendly, the prices were not in line with what you get. The meals are large, but paying $18 for a hamburger in a hotel restaurant is not my idea of a good deal. The hotel itself is great. Just find someplace else to eat if you can.

The breakfast was very nice.

By 154919Michaelt29 |

The food was excellent. We enjoyed breakfast each morning with a lot of variety and we had a great salmon dinner. I would highly recommend the restaurant.

Amazing Food and Service

By Stephanie N |

We are on a tour and ate here since we were staying here. The wine list is amazing and seafood risotto and the fillet we were both extremely happy.

Great Food at Miami Sofitel Hotel

By Adriana_Prado |

Great service, Great wines, Great food. We loved the crab and corn chawder and the sea food dish, that is huge.

Great experience

By Anollmann |

Ventured over for dinner from the Hilton. The bartender was fantastic, made a great martini with hand stuffed olives. The resteraunt was pretty empty so a little awkward with lots of staff lingering around. The food was fabulous. Will be back again

Excellent dinner!

By jkarenwms55 |

Enjoyed our dinner here. Stayed at hotel pre-cruise. Sister hasp penne pasta with grilled shrimp and I had grilled shrimp salad. Yummy and the service was impeccable!

Great service and atmosphere

By kts70281 |

I enjoyed the salad. I forgot the name of it on the menu but it was the one with the smoked salmon. It was a generous size and very flavorful. I also tried the chicken quesidilla which was wonderful as well. Ordered another serving of guacamole to go along with it since I'm a guac lover and don't typically go for sour cream. It was a wonderful experience. The restaurant is designed with a white, crisp, modern feel. At night, it definitely could be a nice romantic venue.

Delightful lunch menu

By Wunderluft |

The restaurant offers good choice of low calorie options for lunch. Service staff is attentive and my personal favorite is the Salmon with grilled vegetables. The lunch menu is priced appropriate and is far better than conventional restaurants in Miami hotels.

Good Service...

By Diana D |

...And better food which was served beautifully presented. The employees were very nice too.

Wouldnt rush back..

By no1kat |

A perfectly acceptable hotel. Nothing special except breakfast, which could be taken outside: a great change for a Brit in winter. OK overall but I wouldn’t rush back. Despite booking nine months in advance and requesting a double bed they still only has two singles. Not exactly the romantic start to our journey…

Hungry traveller

By kiwithebird |

I ordered room service from the restaurant and the food came on time as advised, was tasty and well cooked. Not cheap though!

What a waste of money

By honkerGa |

Admittedly this is an airport hotel restaurant but even so...My wife and I have never spent so much for such bad food. The lobster tasted bad and filet mignon and crispy brie tasteless! French onion soup good and the Bordeaux was okay, but that's because they couldn't freeze it. Service and decor fine. Watch out for the automatic service charge too.

Good Food, But Pricey

By susandns |

We ate here the morning we left for our drive to Key West. We stayed at the Sofitel to try something different. We usually stay across the street when we cruise out of Miami, but there are usually so many kids and in the summer we thought this woulf be a good change. They offer a breakfast buffet, based more on the European style but offered things we really do not care for (salmon, sushi, etc.). We ordered al a carte and spent as much for breakfast as we usually do for lunch.

Could have done much better

By av8tr |

A couple of the dishes that were ordered were decent, but the corn and crab soup was both cold and subpar. It appeared to have been a can of cream corn with some miniscule pieces of canned crab meat. Too bad - they have done much better in the past.

Sunday night dinner

By 5mickey13 |

We went to La Riviera Restaurant located inside the Pullman Hotel by the airport because I won a dinner certificate for the restaurant in a raffle. The restaurant was very clean and offers a white decor. You have the option of eating inside or outside under a covered patio. Our server was prompt and attentive. He took the time to explain several menu options. Both the server and assistant servers were aware if we were running low on water, wine, or if we needed anything during our dinner. The manager of the restaurant also stopped by our table to ask if everything was okay and took the time to speak to us for a few minutes. The food was seasoned just right, and it was served in an appropriate amount of time. We started with French Onion Soup and an Arugula salad. For the main course we ordered the New York Strip steak with stir fry asparagus and mashed potatoes. For dessert we had the creme brûlée, which could have been a little more warmed up. During the time we were there, the restaurant did not get full and other guests were seated right away and were also taken care of promptly. Overall we had a very nice dining experience. It was slightly pricey but that can be expected for a hotel restaurant.

Dinner was below average

By BiotechCalifornia |

Met some business clients here for dinner- service was very pleasant. The appetizers Ceviche and Salmon were good. However Dinner was not good at all. Seafood Paella, not fresh poor taste. Just way below expectation.

Good food, good service

By gd1147 |

I stay at the Sofitel for business and the bar / restaurant is very nice after a long day of work. Food is always good and the prices aren't too bad. The bar service is very consistent and the servers are great.

Superb food and service

By fred200099 |

Had dinner and breakfast here. Very nice to be in a hotel that has a very good restaurant right on the property. Enjoyed a great sampling of hors d'oeuvre and a nice entree of vegetarian rigatoni. This was customized to suit several vegetarians at the table and the wait staff and kitchen were very accommodating, ready to provide the meal we wanted. Nice Cabernet and good desserts and Cuban coffee to finish. Breakfast was oatmeal, topped with sliced caramelized banana that had been highly recommended - it was a great way to start the day.

Adequate Breakfast Buffet

By BGIWorldTraveller |

I visited this restaurant for the Breakfast Buffet on October 28th, 2016 as I was a guest at the Pullman Miami Airport Hotel where it's located. We pre-booked breakfast with our reservation online as it's much cheaper than paying the $23 USD per head once there. The buffet itself was very simple. Scrambled Eggs, Fingerling Potatoes, Pork Sausages, Bacon, Assorted Cold Cuts and Cheeses, Assorted Breads and Pastries, Assorted Cereal, Assorted Fruits, Yogurt etc. There was also a waffle station available where you could make your own giant Belgian Waffle. Overall the food was very good, but I believe more options could be added. I found the service to be attentive, and not intrusive. Also, the atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this restaurant, but when staying there again, I would definitely have breakfast there.

Awful, overpriced and soulless

By Nibbles |

After a day's travelling we opted to eat in the hotel restaurant which looked stylish and had some good reviews on Trip Advisor so we thought it worth try. I made the mistake of not looking at the menu before entering the restaurant as I had seen the menu on Trip Advisor which looked pretty good. Unfortunately the restaurant menu was different - for example no degustation menu, or we were not offered that option What looked stylish actually felt cold and clinical once we were inside. Service was pedestrian and not particularly friendly. Having seen the prices we decided to forego wine (cheapest bottle was a nasty Chardonnay priced at $40). We shared an appetiser - burrato and tomato salad with croutons. This consisted of 4 tiny cherry tomatoes, a piece of burrato about the size of a credit card and an even smaller flat crouton placed on top of a huge pile of dressed leaves. Not quite what I expected. My partner opted for sliders which were OK - nothing special but filled a hole. I made the mistake of ordering the shrimp quinoa salad. Another huge pile of leaves, dressed with the same dressing, mixed in with some quinoa, the grand total of 3 smallish shrimps, 3 tiny cherry tomatos and a spoonful of tinned corn - all served at a temperature just a degree or two below freezing, as if it had been preplated and left in the coldest part of the fridge for hours. Truly horrible, and one of my worst restaurant meals in a long time. I wouldn't normally eat in an airport hotel restaurant and certainly wouldn't eat here again - I just wonder where on earth all the great reviews of this place came from.

Overpriced

By execplatscum |

We ate in the bar...Service was terrible... slow unapologetic and lazy. Were charged 100bucks for a couple of beers some minor snacks and a glass of wine.

Ate breakfast

By Alan Tolley |

Buffet style breakfast at top end restaurant prices. Staff were very good but its a buffet breakfast at over $50 for a couple. Tried it once and then found somewhere else.

Good selection

By Declanz |

We had dinner and breakfast here. The selection at both of them was quite extensive and well prepared. I am sure that during warmer drier months it would be very pleasant having a meal on their patio that looks out on a small garden and near to the pool area. Service was prompt and efficient.

A little expensive but well worth it

By JenniferWG |

The service is great. The Mojitoes are to die for. Our meal was perfect. It was a little more than we usually spend on dinner but the quality of the food was well worth they extra expense.

Surprisingly Good for an Airport Hotel Restaurant

By Bill M |

Dined here with friends while spending a night at the Pullman Hotel — in which the restaurant is located. The next day we all flew out of Miami bound for the Galapagos. Service by Alexis was excellent. Rolls were right out of the oven and their olive roll with real butter was wonderful. On recommendation of the bellman we split one of their large shrimp salads with couscous. Delicious! My scallops with singed cauliflower very tasty. Friends had the crispy-skin salmon — which they said was excellent. Accompanying rice and veggies all properly prepared. Thought pretty fairly priced as well. Overall a solid 4 stars.

Dinner at the Pullman Hotel

By Pinklady816 |

Food adequate but nothing exceptional. The menu wasn't extensive, and as a coeliac quite difficult to select food.

Excellent alternative!

By mar1995 |

Visited the restaurant for the first time just because I was staying at the Sofitel, to my surprise the food is excellent. Went there on several occasions and everytime the service was excellent and the food perfect. Their scallops are terriffic and they have a salad with feta cheese. nuts and raspberry vinagrete that is spectacular. If you want something lighter than the menu they can accomodate you the bar menu, with snacks and sandwiches in a more comfortable and private atmosphere [at the same price you pay at bar]. Definitely will recomend this place to anyone, specially if you are staying at the Sofitel, so you don't have to get out to get nice dinning.

The highlight of our Sofitel experience

By Denise M |

The staff were welcoming, attentive and helpful. The food was of a good standard. And a good selection of wines to suit all budgets.

Excellent Breakfast!

By CatherineMcD57 |

We loved the Breakfast, and the CUBAN Sandwich, wonderful service and lovely decor.

Delicious!

By CaliforniaHarmony |

Excellent food and attentive service! Decided to stay at this hotel based on the meal.

Very European

By Pam97217 |

The service by our waiter was excellent!! Sorry I do not remember his name but he was from Columbia...was it Carlos??!! Food was delicious but very pricy and selection was limited. They did make me a lettuce, tomato, cheese sandwich and sent it to the room for lunch one day which was just what I wanted!!! Atmosphere was elegant. Great place for a Lover's hideaway!!!

Excellent as usual!

By Lamoure |

My husband and I went again last week to La Riviera, because we heard they had a new menu. I must say, it's much better than the previous one! We had an amazing dinner, the crispy brie and the foie gras duet are the best! Then we shared the seafood risotto and the short ribs and they were delicious. We spent a really nice time, with yummy food!

Good foor in the hotel

By Global-Deep-Diver |

We decided to eat at the hotel since we had been traveling all day. We were both very happy with our meals well prepared seafood.

We really liked it!

By Kevin W |

Meal was great, service was great! Great value and it was the perfect ending of our trip to Miami. Restaurant was very clean and upscale. For both of us around $80.

good service

By Albertomiami |

The decor of this place looks nice and the prices are decent. The service was great. The food was terrible. I had the meditarrenean salad was bad. The dressing was no good. I had to return it, and get a soup instead. The soup was good, it was a crab soup. I also had the hot pot seafood, it was very salty. Since this place is classy and all, I really expected better.

Nice staff-great service

By Radiant360 |

I thought the menu was limited but the food was only slightly above average.

Ok restaurant.

By Les V |

I came here for a romantic lunch on a weekday but it didn't work out to my expectations. It is an average restaurant however, it is offered as a exquisite French restaurant. Food was ok, service was average and the location nothing out of the ordinary in the middle of a hightraffic, commercial/business office complex.

just simply great

By Hussain G |

yummy food with the super friendly staffs, liked the atmosphere very much and it is a place you must visit one day if you are around,

Good service / good good

By Franck |

Excellent service. Pretty good food. Fast and efficient. It is indeed a bit pricey but you pay what you get for. French food with excellent american service. If you stay at the Sofitel, give it a try.

Average

By NutriciaM |

A few good options. Overall so-so. Liked the onion soup and caesr salad. Meat dishes were not great.

Poor service ruined the best food...

By Ludivine P |

We tried the bar first. We had champagne in a plastic glass because we were next to the pool… We had to go to the bar to order our drink. A server would have been greatly appreciated. No snacks were offered, the bar tendered looked busy… Disappointed. The restaurant is mainly white (why not) but you want a warm welcome to compensate and we did not. We actually had to wait a couple of long minutes in the middle of this place, and looked at a few server before one of them finally decide to help us. I do not believe we were offered a " good evening, how are you"… Overall the service was really not up to the hotel standard. We soon find out the champagne was not right as we were both sick and could not enjoy the rest of our dinner… Breakfast time was even worth, once again we had to wait in the middle of the restaurant without being acknowledged by anybody despite the numerous of server passing by. When we finally receive the "attention" of Maria who I believe was a supervisor, she did not even bother offering a "Good Morning…". Instead she literally waved at us and the next group to dispatch us on table! Unbelievable for a Sofitel's breakfast but sadly true. We refused politely the table offered and asked if we could be seated outside instead. After further checked we finally seat outside but nobody dressed our table! The servers and "supervisors" looked at us but nobodies care. After a good 15min we went inside and asked to be helped. We finally receive the attention expected by Michel. despite a hole on the tablecloth we were ready to have our breakfast. We did not had the chance to have the basked of jam… Such a bad experience make you forgot that the food was overall good. Improve the service, bring more attention to details and this place would be great.

Limited Selection, Pricey

By JWR_NE |

The dinner menu has very little to choose from and the prices are, in many cases, unreasonable. $4 for a can of Coke??

Decent food, nice atmosphere

By Terry |

Service was good and the food was good as well. Not amazing but good for hotel food. Nice atmosphere and nice view.

Great restaurant

By AGMSouzaJr |

I really enjoyed dining at this restaurant. I ordered a seafood risotto and it was perfect. It was very well prepared and tasted really good. I Really recommend it.

Great food, weird noise!

By Travelynn1262 |

The food was great, we had the French Onion Soup, baby spinach salad and shared a New York Strip steak. The steak was tender and delicious though more rare, than the medium-rare that we ordered. The only problem was the weird squealing sound we had to listen to through the entire meal. When we complained and asked what it was, we were told it was the toaster in the breakfast area and it wasn't working. When we asked if they could work on fixing it later, we were told it was actually being used, as they toast the bread for dinner. They apologized but that was all and the squealing continued. I'm left wondering why there isn't a toaster INSIDE the kitchen, and if I should perhaps send one to their chef?? The food was very good, perhaps a bit overpriced and I would return again once they take care of the "Toaster Issue."

Enjoyable Dining in Comfortable Venue

By cactusbill23 |

Party of eight associates. All had good reviews of various dinner choices, including seafood. Attentive service.

Quite good for a hotel restaurant

By HerrSnibbens |

Far better than the regular hotel restaurant. Great wine list. Absolutely amazing chimichurri sauce for the steak. (though found myself coveting Cuban sandwich of neighboring diner as it looked incredible) Breakfast buffet was very solid as well the next morning. Bacon and sausage far better than standard breakfast buffet meats.

Very good food.

By grpGA |

Very convenient not to have to leave the hotel to get a great meal. They have very good desserts. They have a good discovery menu.

Nice dinner

By GraceDyese |

I had dinner there once, great service good food quality and crowds!

Food is excellent.

By GSLV49 |

You have to have the mahi mahi. It is out of this world. The service is excellent as is the presentation of the food and the food itself. However, be prepared to spend quite a bit for dinner ($100 + for two people), not quite as much for lunch.

Great Entrees, High Prices, Poor Desserts

By BritchipKid |

The dinner entrees were very good. Good flavor, but the portions are very small. The desserts looked very nice, but were tasteless.

QUESTION...when was the last time someone tried to feed you LOCALLY FARM RAISED SWORDFISH

By Tedsleds |

So...we went for the old NY Strip...asked for medium both came out well done...took mine back and brought back NY gristle...raw asked for the manager ...waiter came back ...said manager is to busy (restaurant was empty ) so the manager finally shows up and I asked him if he would have his wife eat this...he quickly responded...NO, first our meat is a lower quality and my wife only eats PRIME... they still charged us for the sides which were all cold and %15 tip ( I think the tip is for Swordfish food) We have a saying in the Keys...Dead fish do not lie...check out the photos...

Perfectly prepared food

By NeemCR |

We decided to just go down for dinner instead of hunting for the "best meal" as we normally do. It was such a good surprise to get a perfectly prepared meal a few feet away from our room. Highly recommend it to people staying at the hotel and elsewhere too....

Breakfast

By R_Sweden |

We had breakfast and took the buffe. They had a large selection of fruit. You can find the regular basic breakfast choices. You can get strong good press coffee! Expensive!

Couple dinner - great new menu

By Anna S |

My husband and I came here last week for dinner. We had a corner table which was nice and quiet. It was good to have the privacy - there were a few kids at other tables but they didn't bother us at all. We took a ceviche appetizer to start. I am usually picky with seafood and I thought that it was a great ceviche - very fresh and perfectly marinated in lime. My husband then got a rare steak. I noticed that in U.S. a rare steak is always too cooked but this one was perfect. I had the seafood risotto. It was a generous plate and I was pleasantly surprised with the size of lobster on the dish - great value! Overall great atmosphere - servers were pleasant and attentive. The chef came out to greet us and to ask whether we enjoyed the new menu. Very enjoyable dinner.

Way Over rated

By AccuracyFirst |

The place is empty on Saturday before Valentine's Day. Tell you something? Brie cheese app was a large chunk of French bread with 4 thin slices of Brie $13. Pork chop was overcooked and dry. This is a passable choice if you are stuck at the hotel. I would never travel to this restaurant.

Just leave the Pullman to eat outside the hotel

By Heidi H |

Not only was this food rather pricey which I would willingly pay if the food was good but the entrees were bad. I had the scallops which I typically really enjoy and I found myself hiding them in the potatoes (I always feel guilty when I don't enjoy a dish as I assume the chef did their best!). They were too salty and over cooked. Very very bad. The mashed potatoes and asparagus that came with the dish were good but not enough to make up for the awful scallops. My husband had the Mahi Mahi. He in my experience is not picky (especially when in a case like this he had chosen the restaurant) but he didn't even finish half of his fish. He too said the side potatoes and veggies were ok but described the fish as a "Gross block of blah". Service was friendly. Hopefully you have a better experience than us or maybe instead just call an uber to eat somewhere else while staying at the Pullman.

Only in a pinch

By Stephen K |

We had just completed an exhausting plane trip to Miami and wanted a good (meaning non-airline meal) before we felt asleep exhausted. The Sofitel was ten minutes away by foot and seemed like a perfect choice. I ignored my judgement that hotel restaurant meals are rarely good. My judgement, unfortunately was correct. The lack of a maître d' should have been a tip off. Dumb I was. The restaurant is attractive, tables far apart and this lulled me into something I should not have have expected. The menu was limited in a positive sense, but unfortunately La Riviera lacked a vegetarian meal listed on the menu. The rolls, at the close to stale stage and served at room temperature, were not what I am used to. Filler is not a tasty treat. Why not whole wheat bread or rolls too? My wife's salad and dressing was fine. Mine was a good idea, but failed. It was billed as goat cheese warmed in thin pastry leaves. Clearly it had been sitting out all day. The pastry was cold and greasy and the goat cheese cold and hard. We both settled on the Mahi Mahi. We thought it would be fine. It was terrible. About the only part of the plate that was acceptable, but not more than that, was the rice and vegetables. No sauce and no imagination. The fish was hard, tasteless and independently we each ate about 1/3 of our portion. We each gave up. The sauce served with it just did not hid the tasteless fish. We ordered the salad dressing that came with my wife's salad to provide some taste and that was not enough to make eating it pleasant. I was foolish because when it arrived at the table the fact that her piece and mine were identical in size meant it had been cut and frozen long before our meal. Our waitress tried hard and offered some ice cream as compensation. While I love ice cream, it certainly did not remove the bad impression of the rest of the meal. The maître d' never appeared to apologize. The wait staff did all it could. The kitchen did not make that enough to salvage the meal. We will be back in Miami in 10 days and now we know where not to eat.

Really , really good!

By Alma B |

Went there for Miami Spice Lunch and with no reservation and with the place being full, they got us a table for 3 right away. The place is beautiful. Location is nice too. I had as a starter the BABY SPINACH SALAD and it was good but my daughter had the SOUP DU JOUR (Tomato soup that day) and it was amazing. Home made for real, and the taste was superb. But was was over the top was their PENNE PESTO. I added the shrimp and my other daughter added chicken; and in both cases was simply exquisite... "BUONISSIMO" . It is not a regular pesto sauce, but a creamy one and trust me; I have never tried such a fantastic pesto sauce. The best one for me, so far. Desserts were nothing spectacular. I would actually say that chef Steven Jung is not there yet on desserts. Don't misunderstand me, they were ok, but just that... ok. Compared to the sophisticated and indulgent taste of the main courses. It is definitely a must recommend.

Unusually nice for an airport hotel restaurant

By parfait135 |

First off, this restsurant is in the Pullman Hotel, but since it used to be a Sofitel, no cab drivers know where to go. So if you're not a guest there, make sure you tell your driver that it used to be the Sofitel. The restaurant is quite pleasantly decorated and the service is rather formal. The menu is interesting but the food wasn't. My spinach salad had no spinach in it. My tequila duck with chipotle and agave was tasteless, the serving was quite small, and there was just one tiny piece of sweet potato with it. Prices are high, especially if you're captive at the hotel and have nowhere else to eat at dinner time.

Fantastic food and service

By unigirl |

We had an evening meal here before our flight out of MIA the next day. Diego, our waiter, was kind, courteous and very efficient. We really enjoyed our meal in the relaxed but smart surroundings of La Riviera, particularly the New York steaks and VERY garlicky potatoes. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but would definitely consider it another time if our flight was later. This restaurant is not cheap - for a large bottle of water, one starter and two mains with tax and tip cost us $80. However, I can assure you it was well worth it. Good job Sofitel!

The best experience restaurant in my life!

By Emi J |

I had the most intense experience of my life and the dining in this restaurant the stick melted in my mouth the wine was incredible cami treated me like family I would recommend this restaurant in this waitress to anybody that I know and love cheers to all what a wonderful experience I had call and find out for yourself and enjoy

This airport hotel restaurant should be a destination restaurant - it's really good.

By Ckrallman |

This was my third stay at the Pullman hotel, which is now my go-to spot when I need to overnight before a morning flight out of MIA. In my view, it's a cut above the other airport hotels. The rooms are quiet, they're well appointed, and the service is excellent. What really separates the Pullman from its competition, however, is the La Riviera restaurant. When you walk into La Riviera, it's clear this is not an ordinary hotel restaurant. The decor is hip, vibrant and stylish. It looks like it should be located in South Beach rather than near the airport. Although I didn't have wine with my meal, the wine list is a good one. There's a broad selection across all price points. La Riviera describes its food as "inventive New American cuisine with Latin influence." The menu has a very nice selection of dishes, including steak, duck, lamb, seafood, and pasta. There's pretty much something for everybody. The mains were priced primarily in mid twenty dollar range. The portions are generous and I'd say they are good value for the money. On my previous visits, I've ordered seafood (sea bass and snapper) and was very pleased. This time, I tried the Cuban style pork tenderloin in a very light cilantro sauce, which was absolutely delicious. It was well presented, cooked to perfection and was very juicy. I got a side of brussel sprouts with bacon, which I would highly recommend. I started with an arugula and goat cheese salad. If I were to quibble, I'd say the arugula wasn't as crisp as I would have liked and it was a bit under-dressed. The goat cheese was outstanding, however, and made up for the shortcomings. The portions were generous and I left absolutely stuffed. Maybe I wouldn't been so stuffed had I not devoured so much of their wonderful bread before my meal! A few dishes went by my table that also looked outstanding, like the Colorado lamb chops and a huge 22 ounce rib eye steak. The service was very attentive, as well. Although this review is for their dinner, I've also eaten from their breakfast buffet, which I'd also recommend. All in all, this is a really good restaurant and it's the primary reason that the Pullman is my favorite airport at MIA.

Great Service; amazing food

By Dmitri R |

The service and food were outstanding. The foie gras with the brioche are one of the best I've ever tried. For sure i'll come back next time I'm in Miami.

LOVELY SURPRISE

Took some relatives over for a lunch/dinner and we were amazingly surprised at the combination of flavors! I cannot say enough about all the service staff as to how friendly they are and the food was TO DIE FOR! I had never tried a Duck with Tequila Sauce (maybe once in The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Nigel, but this was one had something else I couldn't nail down) Loved the fish and the crab cakes!!! I heard there was a new chef my congratulations to Him/Her as well, great staff, Fabulous Meal!

AMAZING

By Mellowshell7 |

We stayed at the Sofitel hotel back in October 2011 to celebrate our anniversary and decided to dine at the Riviera restaurant for dinner. Our waiter was Diego which was such a great waiter, we wrote to the manager letting him know just how great his service was to us. The food was DELICIOUS! We tried multiple plates from the menu and were pleased with each and every dish. We wanted to enjoy our time and eat slowly and relax and that is exactly what we did. The wine we ordered was incredible and the restaurant atmosphere was very quiet and romantic. I loved the scallops and risotto plate the most and am defiantly looking forward to returning here in the future.

great food

By Syntow |

Ate both supper and breakfast here. Both where very good and the service was great. Very clean restaurant.

Excellent breakfast buffet and dinner, too!

By Ray K |

Fresh juices, smoothies, waffles, eggs cooked to order. Excellent breakfast buffet reasonably priced for the quality. Dinner was very good, recommend the Cuban item. Fritatta?

YUM!

By greenlady0 |

We used the travelzoo coupon for dinner and still managed to spend $85 on top of the $103 coupon value including tip. We also had breakfast from the menu the following morning,a buffet was available but more food than necessary. Breakfast for 2 was around $30-35 tip incl. Food and service excellant. Forgot how much I missed having French wines!!!!

Or a hotel, food very good

By Ron B |

I ordered a seafood pepper pot very well seasoned and loads of seafood, overall dining expierence very good, portion was also very generous.

Average is the verdict

By Martin A |

Stayed at the Sofitel Miami hotel and went for dinner together with the family (4 adults and 2 children). The restaurant looked fancy and the menu also looked good. For starters we got ceasars salad and gaspazio and both dishes were good. We then ordered lamb chops with garlic mashed potatos. This dish was pretty tasteless and we all were in doubt whether it was in fact lamb that was served!!! The service was ok and the price was above average.

lousy service. Okay food. Nothing to write home about at this restaurant. They need to improve their menu, offer decent seafood options and more vegeterian options

5 Star

By Lisa L |

Superior French food, top of the line service, great menu. For elegant dining and an enjoyable evening La Riveria is worth a stop. The menu is classic French, I highly recommend the "La Degustation". Service was top shelf and friendly. Desserts excellent and a very nice selection of French and American wines.

ate in the bar...ok however....

By Mike J |

It was ok, service efficient and food generally good. Seared Tuna was good as was the onion soup. Foie Gras not so good, too fatty, Mr. Chef, find another brand to serve for 21 bucks, also serve with toast not cake...really?? Egg rolls, too much pastry, make them lighter but all generally ok on the whole.except menu needs rewriting to be more accurate so you know what you are getting!

Only Average hotel food

By YourTravelingMan61 |

Breakfast consisted of a buffet which was in my regards highly overpriced. Nothing to write home about in my opinion!

Typical French food? I don't think so!

By mrscherylsalmon |

We booked to stay here at the Sofitel as we were due to fly from the airport the next day. After a longish drive from Orlando we decided to eat at La Riviera, the in-house restaurant. It claims to produce typical French cuisine..I wonder how many reviewers who agreed with this assessment have actually had French cooking? The chowder was over- salted, (and I like my salt), my granddaughter's fries and toasted cheese sandwich was very poor- frozen fries and mass produced sliced white bread, and the swordfish with sugarcane - well! The cane was forgotten and the fish was so tough as to be inedible. We each had a glass of white wine, both ludicrously overpriced, and no serious restaurant in France would serve a sparkling wine with no indication on the bottle as to its origin. Does such a well known French brand as Sofitel really want to give this sort of impression of French cuisine? To be fair, the decor was pleasant and gave a positive impression of a good class restaurant and the staff were attentive and helpful. Not recommended.

Great Experience - should change the wine list

By Madison S |

With the new menu, i would also recommend to change the wine list. The service and the quality of the food are excellent. The crispy brie is just delicious. Next time I have to come to Miami for work, I'll definitely stay at the Sofitel.

pleasantly surpsrised

By Cindy O |

I didn't expect a great meal from an airport hotel, but the lobster ravioli was possibly the best I ever had. The service was very good. What it lacked in ambiance, it made it for with the food.

Very much improved

By Ian Ainsworth |

Our second time eating in the main restaurant of this hotel was much better than our first (see previous review of 5 Dec 2013). We tried two excellent chef’s signature dishes; 12oz New York strip steak which was cooked as requested and served with chips rather than mashed potato stated on the menu and duck with Malbec and spiced pears which was also excellent – lovely presentation as well as very tasty. We also had the penne pasta with pesto and shrimp which was a generous serving and good. So with very good service and great food, I would definitely recommend this restaurant and not only if you are staying in the hotel.

Your typical hotel buffet restuarant

By Miamismith305 |

La Riviera is the main dining establishment of the Pullman Hotel, it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a contemporary and elegant atmosphere. We visited for breakfast, they offer either an à la carte or a buffet-style menu. If you attend for lunch or dinner, you will be able to indulge in their spectacular wine bar selection, available on the same floor of the restaurant.

Surprising find!

By Tlsenn |

Usually we don't eat at the hotel restaurant where we stay because we like to venture out and try local cuisine. But this time after a long night, we decided to stay in and eat. Started with a wonderful just made gaspacho. Finished with creme brûlée. Food was Simply AMAZING. Server made you feel as though you were special and overall it was . Stopg

food was awesome, little pricey and formal, white linens on table and I think waiters wore gloves. felt uncomfortable eating in jeans after arrival. Sat at bar to get same food next time.

The first time I'm disappointed

By Pajeh |

My husband and I have stayed at the Sofitel Miami Airport hotel many times and enjoy dining there. However, last week Wednesday night was extremely disappointing. It was our last night in Miami and my husband had said that we would save the best for last- so we went to the restaurant at Sofitel. My husband and I took the foie gras to start; normally this is served with Melba or small pieces of Brioche toasted, pears poached in wine and a little chutney. It was served with a large rectangular piece of mushy cinnamon French toast (which they called Brioche but was exactly like French toast served at breakfast), the Ballotine styled foie gras was cold and gooey, a bit too rare (this is normally served warm with a slight crisp on the outside and soft on the inside). Then there were warm grapes and cold raspberries on the plate two of which had fungus. My husband called the server who had recognized us from before and complained about the meal and asked her for a piece of baguette to eat the regular foie gras with. She explained to him that there was a new chef who was experimenting with the food pairings. For the entree my husband took the steak and I ordered the duck. His steak was average but my duck tasted a couple days old. My husband was visibly upset and usually enjoys the dessert here but wanted to leave immediately. The server was sympathetic and tried to placate him.

Great Ambience and good food

By ChrisS6901 |

Just an overall good experience. Great Miami cuisine and a really nice ambience. Service was attentive and good.

Good food

By Francisco A |

We recently had breakfast at this restaurant, very nice ambiance and decor, you get a nice view of a lake and the hotel's pool. To our surprise the restaurant was very much empty, which was good for us. Food buffet was OK, not too big in variety but enough. We enjoyed the customer service, we were not charged for our kids, they ate free. We would come back, price was a little high.

Breakfast buffet is worth trying

By 4peregrino |

Although we also have dinner there once, the best combination of price and quality was the breakfast buffet. The coffee (french press, certainly) was great. Try it. Now, the hotel is a different story...

Great food

By Rod B |

The food is really nice here. The lamb confit is excellent, the skirt steak is very tasty and the duck is perfect.

Amazing food and great service

Will definitely visit again. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. They make you feel like a VIP :-)

This restaurant offers an enchanting experience not to be missed

By aus3 |

Sometimes you have the pleasure of dining in such a wonderful restaurant that you simply have to share the experience with others. La Riviera at the Sofitel Miami airport is one of these. Beautifully presented with an all white theme, the evening features lovely bright red glasses on each table to bring a brilliant splash of colour. There is the opportunity to dine both inside, and also on the terrace, and the service offered is outstanding. Largely young staff, many multi lingual, are genuinly proud of their restaurant and property and take pleasure in sharing details about each dish, right down to the various sauces and spices involved. A small plate offering a taste of one of the various dishes is placed on the table, and is a nice touch. A great wine menu, and excellent service is offered throughout. We enjoyed our dinner so much we were back again for breakfast before checking out of the hotel. That meal was just as enchanting and the sun streaming onto the terrace, the lovely French music, and the excellent choice of breakfast dishes made it hard to leave. Dont miss out on this restaurant, even if you are just in Miami for business at any of the large corporations in and around the area. Take your business clients here and you can be sure they will be impressed.

good food but SLOW service

By gbogan |

We do not often eat lunch in hotel restaurants, but we were tired after a long drive and there did not seem to be other restaurants within walking distance, so we ate at La Riviera. The menu had several good choices. We were seated immediately by a very attentive and friendly host. My husband's French onion soup was excellent. His Cuban sandwich, however, was burned and dry.(This was obvious by sight. Any server who was paying any attention to what he put on the table should have noticed!) But the sandwich was put down on the table and the server was off quickly. I ordered the paella which had a good flavor, but the chicken was dry. After we were seated it took several minutes for the server to even come to the table to take drink orders and even longer to ask what we wanted to eat. He did not seem to be able to explain much about the food except what we could just read on the menu. Once we got the food he did not check back for several minutes; when he finally did check back with us, my husband pointed out the burnt bread on the sandwhich. I must say that the server did offer to replace the sandwich but by that time I had finished my paella and the onion soup had been eaten. We did not want to wait for another sandwich. We both had a glass of wine and would have ordered another, but he did not come by to ask. We had breakfast there the next morning as well. The same cheerful host greeted us and since there was not a table available, he asked us to wait just a couple of minutes while he cleared one. While we were waiting another man asked us if we had been helped so the greeting at the restaurant was just fine. Our breakfast was outstanding. The food was fresh and attractively served and of good quality. The service was still slow, however. Our server actually came back to the table after serving us coffee and orange juice and said, "I took your order, right?" No, he had not. We did get the food quickly, though and enjoyed our breakfast. While we were eating, however, I was able to observe other table "setups." and was surprised to see the person whose job it was to set up putting his fingers all over the silverware and grabbing "clean" glasses and cups by the rims instead of the handles or stems while he was setting up. I think just a little training might help in this area. All servers and workers were attractively groomed and their attire was clean and neat. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The only complaint I really have is the slow service and some concern about the handling of silverware, cups and glasses during set up.

Delicious, beautiful and great service!

By Chelo U |

So nice to dine in this place which serves a mission; you can feel that the meals and attention given mean something to everyone here. Second, this place doesn't try to be something it isn't. It's fine French dining. I liked the romantic and very class atmosphere. Everything is impeccable, the food was very well presented and the taste is great, friendly service; great price fix options, and a stellar wine list. Overall, would highly recommend and make a repeat trip for special occasions.

Excellent

Excellent restaurante, very friendly staff (Alexis is great!), great food, I loved the fact that the Chef came to our table to speak with us and ask how the food was.

Great dining and amazing food!

By Cristy M |

La Riviera surprised my entire family. The ambiance is great and the staff is fabulous. We were treated like royalty. Our waiter was amazing! We celebrated my father’s 75th birthday and even the chef came out to wish him a happy birthday (a really nice touch). It is a very romantic and trendy restaurant. A bit expensive but worth it! The food was very nice and delicious. The best were the diver scallops on a bed of saffron risotto and the lamb shank was superb! The experience overall was an A+! I cannot wait to return to La Riviera at the Sofitel.

New Name with Great Service and Food

By phenix726 |

The restaurant has been renamed Tavolo and offers French and Mediterranean influenced food. Ate here for dinner during Miami Spice 2019 and the food was excellent...beautiful plating, good portion sizes for Miami Spice along with great flavors on the Scallops, Tomahawk, Duck, and Sea Bass. The service was top notch and our server made sure we were enjoying our food and that we received five-star service.

Fairly average

Had breakfast and dinner in this restuarant. Menu is fine and service good, albeit the food isnt always as hot as I would like, but edible.

Meals are delicious to eat and look at!

Very good quality of the food, good service and large selecton. Prices under average of the category. Nice location and quite stay. Adviced

Meals are good but expensive

By JTFLORIDA |

We ate three meals here on a recent trip going overseas. Menu is extensive and the room plus outdoor seating option is very nice. The wine list is good but way overpriced for the type of wines offered and likewise for meals.

Nice place for lunch - very international atmosphere, which is cool.

By Jesse |

La Riviera restaurant at the Sofitel in Miami is a neat place...eating lunch here definitely felt like being abroad, somewhere. In Miami, where Spanish is the lingua franca, it's bemusing but cool to see the signs in the Sofitel in French (because the Sofitel chain is French, after all). The meals were a bit on the expensive size, and portions a bit small, but the presentation of the food is spot-on, and everything tasted delicious. I was pleased to see several healthy options on the menu. I ended up getting the steak salad with mango dressing, which was very very good.

good food. great atmosphere

By trswendt |

It's as pricey as most on-site hotel restaurants, but the service was great and so was the mahi mahi

Breakfast at the La Riviera

If you like to eat in sophisticated restaurants, this is the place for a nice breakfast. The place is beautiful, staff are very polite and the food is very well prepared although in the pricey side.

Sofitel Miami Food Never Disappoints

By JTFLORIDA |

We were going out of MIA to France leaving at 8 PM and drove over from Venice, about 3 hours away. So we had some time and there is no better place to relax and unwind for a few hours at the Sofitel. As we hadn't eaten lunch by 3pm when we arrived and the restaurant wasn't open, the bar was a perfect place to order food, take it outside by the pool and feel right at home. The Art Deco features of the hotel and the quality of the food and service keep bringing us back after more than ten years of visits. While French owned, it has the unique diversity of Miami. If you are parking at the airport, there is a shortcut along Perimeter Road, the same taken by the Sofitel's shuttle vans. Sometimes when we return from Europe and we're too tired to drive home, we stay the night. This time, we just enjoyed the ambiance of the place with a leisurely lunch as it sure beats any lounge in the airport.

Mouth-watering steak!

By Arnold A |

I love the steak they the preparation, presentation and of course the taste! I also love the shrimp i just forgot the name of the menu, it was great and tasty, it was also fresh. The price was just affordable unlike any other restaurants inside the hotels.

SOFITEL MIAMI & ITS RESTAURANTS

By TravelINTaiste |

To me as a traveler, customer service is NUMBER ONE!! and this Hotel and restaurant has it all. The fact that it was under small remodeling process did NOT bother me, since they are very careful with the process. LA RIVIERA RESTAURANT WAS THE BEST EVER ****** (FIVE STARS) BEST PAELLA EVER. and good drinks too. loved the snacks at the bar!!!

sleek design with good food

By dreyes1047 |

Excellent hotel restaurant choice. If staying at the hotel no need to go out, the food is very well presented and tasty, the service is friendly and on time.

Great food+ excellent service+ lovely atmosphere

By OccidentalatXcaret |

I had the pleasure of visiting this hidden place in Miami, and got a great surprise! The place is just so beautiful, you are warmly welcomed and the food is delicious. My recommendation is to try the Foie Gras and the duck. Your waiter will be the best adviser to accompany your dishes with the best wine. They have an extensive wine list where you can find something to your taste and to the size of your wallet.

Great breakfast buffet

By JWonthego |

I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast buffet at this restaurant in basically Pullman Miami airport hotel. Myself in my family stay overnight at this hotel and we had eaten outside of the hotel the afternoon before. We were so full from that food we never actually had to sit down and have dinner, so we never went to this restaurant until the next morning. Went we went to the restaurant, we were greeted by a very nice host. I'm so sorry never got his name. Or to do the buffet. We opted for the buffet, knowing and that if need be, we could switch. Both of my children have multiple food allergies and so I'm always wary. It did not disappoint. There were a variety of things, including pastries, fruit, cold cuts, cheese, cereal, yogurt parfaits, the ability to make your own waffles, scrambled eggs versus boiled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, etc. Ample things to choose from for my children, myself, and my spouse. Everyone was so attentive, including one of the staff members named Bostone, who took time to converse in a light-hearted way with my children. This was a very pleasant experience in addition to the great experience we had already had in the hotel.

Food as it should be

By TravelINTaiste |

The chef at this restaurant knows the importance of pleasing the eye first. Dishes are beautiful, well presented and tasty. I ate here four days. Never disappointed. Duck is my favorite. Service is also a priority. Daniel, Myrna and Manolous (might not be spelled correctly) all amazing

Elegance

By TB2Young |

Quiet, tastefully decorated, food although not large portions were beautifully presented. Nice cold drinks in 'good' glassware. VG service

Food was Good

By Lenjoyce1 |

The service was very good. The ambiance was very pleasing. The food was very good and presented well, and relatively well priced. I would eat there again.

Poor service

By Paul B |

Very poor service, many hours before the restaurant closed we had to wait for a table to be set, although there were numerous empty tables. Waited for drinks and food order to be taken. Food took forever to arrive, then only 2 out of 3 meals. The 3rd arrived 10 minutes later, on asking after the first 2 meals arrived we were just told abruptly, "It is coming" Service charge is automatically added to check, if it was not, maybe the staff would be more interested in working for it.

Delicious!

By bay30 |

The food was gourmet and well presented. The staff was on top of things. The food was so delicious, I wish we could have tried everything on the menu!

good breakfast buffett

Best Breakfast in a Hotel in Miami

By Jetsetter21456938 |

I have eaten several breakfasts in Miami, which is usually some latin inspired dish, such as Cuban or something similar, which is fun, but the quality of food cannot match La Rivera at the Sofitel Miami. The coffee at Sofitel Miami must have been some of the best coffee I have had in a long time. They gave fresh squeezed orange juice, top quality toast and marmalade, muesli that was prepared to look like a dessert, and excellent eggs, all in a French colonial style atmosphere which Sofitel is known for. Overall, 5 stars.

Wonderful place to dine during a pre or post cruise stay

By lifeartist1959 |

We stayed here the night before our cruise out of Miami. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner and then just sat outside enjoying the warm evening breeze. The food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast.

Very Tasty

By Eileen P |

We had two meals here - and both were very good. A bit expensive; and the service at breakfast was not prompt (too many customers/too few waiters)

atmosphere

By FLTV |

good ceasar salad, nice waitress and cold beer. the pizza wasn't so good but the duck was terrific, meat in exact point.

Very limited

By doclewk |

Ate dinner there as there were no good choices in the area. The menu was very limited. We had to beg to get a "bar menu" just to have a sandwich. They have these weird curtains randomly in the space which encroached upon our table. Was this to give us privacy? It was just thin, old cloth. We knew there were other people behind it.

Beautiful Restaurant with Solid Food

By MomRocco |

I dined here several times while staying at the Sofitel on business. I had lunch here twice (one day I had the bacon burge and one day I had the beef empanadas). Both meals were fine and were just what I needed in the middle of the day. I also had dinner here and it was memorable. The restaurant, while lovely during the day, is even more attractive in the evening. I began my dinner with the mesclun salad and followed with an entree of penne pasta with shrimp in a light pesto sauce, which was really good. I also had a pinot grigio by the glass. I completed my meal with a caramel custard dessert. Since i was dining alone, I wasn't interested in lingering, but also didn't want to feel rushed. The timing of my meal was just perfect and the waiters were friendly and helpful. Having this nice restaurant in the Sofitel was a real plus to my overall stay. The cost of my meal, including tax and tip was about $65.

Great Flavors!

By Belem C |

I had really nice experiences at this place: from the variety of the breakfast buffet to the quality of ingredients and flavors for lunch & dinner. The salmon was one of my favorites!

Simply Outstanding

By Traveler1959-123 |

I had both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and both were superb. A French flair but definitely with a Miami flavor, the dinner menu and quality of meal were excellent. I would definitely dine here again! I was in a large group and everyone tried different menu items and no one was disappointed in the least, including dessert.

Very good

By Roberto298 |

The food was good, the ambiance excellent, and the service by Alexis was great! We are local, and rarely go eat at a hotel restaurant, but we have stayed there and were curious to see the renovations.

Disappointing

By Lyn D |

Although the reviews were good on TripAdvisor, this restaurant serves food that is, at the best, mediocre! Staff extremely slow, decoration very cold (all white), rather disappointing in all

Good, but overpriced.

By CathyC56 |

We had no problems with the quality of the food, and the service was impeccable. It just seemed a bit overpriced!

Very satisfying lunch

By Gaston M |

Went for a Miami spice lunch, place packed yet they gave us a table for two right away. We Had a glass of Chardonnay. Started with a delicious clam chowder soup, followed by a generous mahi mahi grilled filet with rice and veggies. Then we ended with an awesome creme brûlée. I highly recommend this restaurant.
