Consistently good, esp since my children are older. 17 yr old twins. You know what to expect. The only thing that wavers from time to time is the service

We went there to celebrate a special occasion, arrived just before the kitchen closed. We were treated like visiting royalty, everyone on the staff was attentive and super warm and friendly, and the food was out of this world. We first had the veal meatballs and a Caesar salad. Our entrées were the gnocchi casie e pepe, and my fiance had the arctic char, her favorite fish, which couldn't have been more delicious. The restaurant treated us to a scrumptious olive oil cake with lemon and blueberries in honor of our engagement. Whenever we're in Atlanta we'll make a beeline for La Tavola.

I rate this poor because menu changes have removed their best dishes. Why, why, why did they take the flourless chocolate torte of the menu?!? It was the best dessert in the city. Please bring it back!

We made a reservation based on a recommendation from another restaurant waitress. Everything was great. The atmosphere, the food , the staff. Except for the bartender. We were trying to decide on a bottle of wine and he was very condescending and impatient. The wine list was mostly Italian and we were unfamiliar. Luckily everyone else was exceptional as was the food. I had the mushroom tagliolini. It was absolutely fabulous. The flourless chocolate cake w the espresso cream sauce is well worth the calories as well!!

Small restaurant floorplan so I'd definitely recommend reservations and parties of 4 or less... but I've never had a bad experience at La Tavola and it reminds me of some of the great meals my wife and I had in Italy.

The wine list is excellent, fresh made pasta--its like being back in Italy. True neighborhood gem. Try the meatballs.

Took our family of 6 for a birthday dinner. Service was terrible. Four out of six dishes were not good. Pasta was over cooked which is sad for a restaurant known for its pasta. Won't be returning.

We had yummy salad, saltimbocca and the fish special, fig cake for dessert and coffees. Highly recommend reservations. Obviously a favorite of locals--almost everyone was greeted like an old friend.

My wife and I visited on Mother's Day and were initially told that there were no tables since we had no reservation (we expected this). We walked out looking for another option and the hostess tracked us down saying that there was a table open on the patio if we cared to sit outside. Kudos to her for coming after us with the offer. The patio has a nice atmosphere even though it looks over a parking lot and is shared with several other establishments. The weather was perfect for it. Our service was very good and brunch was excellent. I am not a big brunch person as I tend to want more 'normal' breakfast selections, but the menu had enough variety for me to find something to fit the bill. We received a free dessert since we were celebrating an anniversary, so extra points for that. Overall a very good experience. I would love to have dinner here in the future.

We have been eating here for at least 4 yrs and unfortunately it's being discovered. Fifth group runs tip top restaurants. Not too big limited menu great service! La tavola is our favorite situated in Virginia Highlands.

It is located in a neighbourhood that is primarily residential. Very inviting atmosphere with a really cool wrap-around patio out back. We enjoyed a really nice evening, good drinks and very tasty Italian dishes. Our server was extremely congenial and made our experience quite enjoyable. Good food, Good ambience - worth the trip.

Nothing special. Food was good, not great. Space is small and tight, 4 in booth was cramped and aisle was narrow. Server was a bit arrogant and annoying when we asked questions about menu. Not likely to return.

I love this place..The food is amazing, great service, love the space!! It is my favorite place in Atlanta..The food is fresh, simple, and delicious!

We dined here on a Sunday evening. It was fairly crowded; reservations are a good idea. My score is a composite of a lot of factors. Parking lowered the overall score and impacted the experience. We had to circle the block twice and double back before finally deciding on a parallel parking slot. I'm not a professional driver, but I have above-average parallel-parking skills; I know other people who would have had to keep looking further away. They may have valet parking, but I like that even less than hunting. We arrived at the restaurant and got seated promptly. Our server was generally good; as the place filled up, she took a bit longer to return towards the end of the meal. The menu choices were not extensive, but should be sufficient for most people. Our party of 3 got 2 pastas and a fish dish. Our waitress wound up filet-ing the fish at our table, which was a bit of a novelty. Portion sizes are not huge, especially given the pricing. One one of us had any leftovers (which also implies that the food was good). Prices seemed fairly high to me, but this *is* Va-Hi. The atmosphere was sort of upscale, but also a bit loud. There are tables at the front and booths down one wall, with the bar taking up the other wall. The space is a bit narrow and deep. The idea of dining here was to avoid going to a familiar or chain Italian restaurant. Mission accomplished, but if I had to make the same choice next week, I might go for an alternative where parking is more convenient, prices are the same or better, quality is comparable, and you end up with a lot more food. Just from a food/dollar and overall experience factor, I'm just not sure this was worth it. I would say that this was a good restaurant, though. YMMV.

We had just moved to the area and decided to take a day exploring Atlanta. It was also our Anniversary weekend so I booked us a reservation at La Travola. I chose an early reservation and thankful that I did, it is a small restaurant and fills up very quickly. We were able to sit out back on the patio area which is super cute, several other restaurants share the space which is pretty neat to see how that's done. Our server was very attentive and quick with our meals. Everything was so tasty, I was sad I had nothing left to take home. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are in the area.

Cozy restaurant with excellent service. Our server was Jody; she was very knowledgeable. We had the sautéed calamari appetizer, very nice. I had the tagliatelle bolognese, really excellent. Wife had tagliatini (?) with mushrooms and mushroom sauce, also great. Pasta was house made. They comped us dessert because I had told them it was her birthday, even put a candle in it as I had asked. Wine was good. We love Italian food and this was among the best we have ever had.

Amazing food & wine. The squid spaghetti are my personal favorite! Very kind & professional stuff. It's very popular so I'd recommend to reserve a table in time, especially for the weekend.

Was just looking for a neighborhood place in the Druid area and found this spot on a cold, rainy night. I found it warm and welcoming. The soup was too salty (sent back twice), but my server offered great alternative suggestions. I was told the ragu has been on the menu since the restaurant opened 19 years ago and has not changed. It was delicious! I snubbed the calamari at first thinking it would be ordinary, but it was unique and also delicious. Good wine suggestions, too. Would love to return next time in town.

We showed Saturday night without a resy. We were told it would be longer than an hour. But, the hostess was very friendly & helped get seats at the bar within 15 minutes. Bar service was fair at best. We started with martinis. We both ordered appetizer size pasta to start. Mine was squid ink pasta which was OK. It needs the squid ink sauce. I then ordered branzino fish which he said he filleted so I would have no issue with bones. He did fillet the fish but there were still an enormous amount of bones remaining. I have a problem with this because it can be dangerous if you accidentally swallow a bone and choke. The flavor of the fish was fine but I was disappointed. Nice atmosphere in the Virginia Highlands. There are better options for Italian in Atlanta.

We're picky about our italian food & restaurants. This one won't disappoint. Pasta is fresh and everything is delicious. Atmosphere is quaint and there is valet parking. Went during their herloom tomato menu. YUM!

Lovely little Italian restaurant with a gorgeous patio & a vintage brick interior restaurant! The service was spectacular, the food delightful & the cocktails fantastic. Family friendly with those of all ages in the restaurant. Easy street parking & yummy desserts. Definitely will be back! Tip: Make reservations!

La Tavola is a very intimate restaurant on the inside. We had a great server with solid recommendations and cool sense of humor. We started with Cesar and regular arugula salad which was a nice and fresh beginning. Me and another friend had the Mushroom ragu that was very yummy. Another friend ordered the Bolognese sauce with beef, pork and veal - yummy too. Overall it was a very nice dining experience. Loved the easy of valeting across the street!

Adorable little "hole in the wall" Italian restaurant. Smaller space but lots of charm and good service. Highly recommend the food as it is meant for for sharing. All the pasta dishes were great but the unique berry and burrata salad was by far the favorite! I would recommend if you are visiting the ATL area!

Don't try to eat here on the weekend without a reservation. Parking is hard to find in the area. Service is excellent, with very helpful servers. Liked the food. Although not the classic dishes as another reviewer mentioned, the entrees are quite good. The swordfish was excellent, and the saltimbucco was very good (no red sauce). The bolognese was just ok. The salumi board with cheese is a winner as are the olives. We tried only one dessert, and it was good-guava sorbet with fresh blueberries.

Never been to this area but enjoyed this quaint restaurant area. Was able to sit outside. It was very pleasant. Owner or manager came personally to greet so it was a very pleasant dinner. Mushroom Ragu pasta came out al dente just as I asked them and my wife enjoyed risotto. Prosecco before dinner was just right and good. We liked the ambience and all.

I was definitely impressed with this high quality restaurant. Great food, drinks and excellent customer service. Negroni!

The food is amazing and our waiter was professional and helpful. It was a true Italian experience! Great atmosphere! It was one of the better dining experiences I’ve had!

I had dinner at La Tavola the evening of June 10, 2019. I ate at the bar. My bartender was a gem. She was friendly and very attentive. The restaurant is a small, intimate place. It was crowded, and a little difficult to navigate. The tables were pretty close together. Overall, however, that was but a minor inconvenience. I had the emmer spaghetti. It included crab and smoked trout roe. With the meal I had fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus. I ended the meal with a cannoli. With a couple drinks, the tab was a little pricey, but I felt that I got every penny’s worth. Overall, because of the great staff and the delicious food, my evening was excellent. I will be back the next time I am in Atlanta.

Authentic Italian cuisine, wonderful service and beautiful setting! We sat outside on the upstairs patio, which was beautiful in August. Would definitely recommend!

The primary take away is that if you want a romantic evening with your significant other or great meal with couples, this is a fantastic choice. The 'sentire' or sense of the place is spectacular. Cozy, intimate but I didn't feel we were on top of our neighbors or getting bumped. Killer ambience with the bar and kitchen in direct view of your table. Smells from the bolognese filled the room. Comfortable seating. Pretty much everything I look for in a wonderful meal. Menu had plenty of choices without being overwhelming. Even though, there were some hard choices to make. Our server was world class and we will ask for her on our next visit. Great service, great suggestions, timely service without hovering. and a wonderful pleasant personality. We started with the Buratta which had strawberries and a compote (maybe fig?) and some crunchy shaved bread. It was outstanding, I can still taste it and want to go back just for that. We also had the Caeser salad with real anchovies. Super crunchy, very tasty and not over dressed (dressing'ed?). My wife had the Tagliatelle Bolognese and loved it, with plenty left over for lunch today. If it tasted half as good as it smelled, it was amazing. I had the Saltimbocca and it was good, but a bit strange. I'm used to prosciutto on the top and there was only a cream sauce. Plus it sat on an enormous bed of fingerling potatoes. Nothing wrong with potatoes, but kind of boring and flavorless and just an immense quantity. It was our anniversary and they brought us a complimentary flute of prosecco and a desert that was some form of very dense and moist yellow cake with marinated cherries on top. Both of us disliked the desert. All in all- two big thumbs up. we will be back.

When you are tired of a regular Italian menu, you should try La Tavola, from the squid ink pasta to the pheasant ragu, the variety of food and the very different pasta choices was a pleasure. I will go back to try some of the items I wanted to try! The special swordfish with citrus salad was delicious and the bread just great!

Quaint neighborhood Italian restaurant with homemade pasta. Service was attentive and friendly. All dishes on the brunch menu were very good. The gnocchi was amazing and carbonara was excellent. Blueberry muffins were homemade and delicious. Best Italian in Atlanta and priced reasonably.

Wonderful food and authentic atmosphere that reminded me of the small trattoria's in Italy. Emphasis on SMALL. The service was stellar and the food amazing! The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star rating was the restaurant was jammed tight with tables. My chair was only 6 INCHES from the chair behind me. Too crammed. But with that said, I would certainly return for another amazing meal.

La Tavola has been in Virginia Highlands a long time. It has the charm of an authentic neighborhood trattoria. There is a large back porch that is covered. We sat through a big storm and did not get wet. On to the food. Breaded swordfish with a unique flavor. Tagliatelle with a great bolognese sauce. Linguini with a strong mushroom sauce. All delicious. Deserts were the grapefruit sorbet and the Semifreddo chocolate, both outstanding. We will be back.

I have lived in Italy for a long time and this is one of the few places in the US that brings the good memories back. The waiters are polite and professional. The restaurant is not in downtown or midtown and you will need a ride to reach there. The place is nice and cozy. The food is delicious and tasty. I ordered three dishes including primo, secondo, and dolce. The pasta was tasty, the cheese was authentic enough, and the olive oil and bread were nice. The main dish (a fish dish) also was really nice and well-cooked. The sides and dressing were delicious. The ice-cream at the end brought back all the good memories of a decent Italian food. I will go back definitely.

Romantic Italian restaurant in VA Highlands. Reasonably priced and good sized portions. Had the charcuterie board, which had tons of good quality meat. The ravioli was great as was the spaghetti and veal meatballs. Wine list has a good variety of prices. We ordered a less expensive bottle and were really happy with it. Service was good. Loved the cannoli for dessert.

Dined here in March. Patio was open but it was early in the evening and still warm so we opted for the air conditioned dining. The service was excellent from the hostess, our server and the manager stopped by...a nice touch. You can tell they care. Drinks from the bar were excellent. Dinner was very good but 2 of the pasta dishes were heavy on butter. This may be our personal preference but next time we'll ask for them to prepare the food with less as it is easy to add but hard to take away. Desert looked great but we did not order this time. We would visit again.

First the good news. We had paperadele pasta with bolenese. It was very good, like my wife’s Italian mother made it. We also had the meatballs with polenta. These vere veal based, very soft, and not that much flavor, but OK. The restaurant space in narrow, with the kitchen and a long counter next to the diners. It was very loud, and the piped in music did not increase our experience. We were seated to a table with wooden chairs, not particularly comfortable. Some patrons finished and one of the few booths became vacant. We asked to switch, but after several minutes we were told it wasn’t possible. We felt the waitstaff was not particularly attentive, dessert was ordered but when it seemed like they were in no hurry to bring it, we cancelled, payed up and left. Food was OK, the dining experience was not a good one.

I've been to this restaurant several times when visiting Atlanta and the food is consistently good. Super tasty Tagliolini, bread with olive oil and wonderful flourless chocolate torte. The vibe is warm and inviting. Service, excellent.

I had not been to La Tavola in along time.night so got to take advantage of the pasta specials. The ones we tried were excellent. The service was prompt and courteous.

Good food. Excellent ambiance on back patio. Slow service but we were not in a hurry. The beet salad was very good and actually full of beets (many places give you mostly greens with a few beets on the side). The scallop risotto was excellent, as was the tiramisu.

We were lucky enough to be seated on a Friday night without reservations on the patio. This was sheer luck so I would recommend you make reservations. The atmosphere out side is almost like being in New Orleans courtyard . I had a really hard time deciding what I wanted from the menu or the special which was turbot . My friend was really raving about the pasta with porcini ragout and truffle oil so I kept her talk me into that. What a great decision!! After taking my first bite I instantly regretted that we had decided to share!! This dish was hands down the most delicious mushroom pasta I have ever tasted!! If you like mushrooms you will LOVE this dish!! The wait staff was extremely courteous and professional! Just the right amount of attention without hovering around the table. As we were leaving we were greeted by Mark Wilson director of Operations for the fifth group restaurants and he could not have been nicer. I am going to make reservations Friday week and I cannot wait to go back even though it will be difficult deciding what to eat!!!!

This is a nice neighborhood Italian restaurant. I have noticed it for years, but hadn't gotten around to trying it. I had a reservation and was seated promptly, but I was a little miffed with the seating. The restaurant is very tight with tables sandwiched between the bar and booths against the wall. I always opt for a booth is available. On this occasion, booths were open, but they wouldn't seat us at one; instead seating us at a table that was near the door and in the midst of heavy server traffic. Aside from that the food was good but not fabulous. The seating will likely keep me from going back.

Wow our server walked us thru the menu like a pro. He made suggestions for items we would have never ordered if we made our selections. The result was one of the best meals we have ever experienced. Started with the scallop crudo - wow I want more. Our server suggested half orders of pasta - it was just the two of us so we ordered 4 half orders of pasta. Ok, the Tagliolini is insane. I am a carnivore and this meat free option almost brought me to tears. I wanted to hug our server for his suggestions. We ended our pasta feast with some heavenly Gelato and an excellent cup of coffee. Can’t wait to go back and request the same server think his name was Bull. He appeared to have a mastery of the menu and options. One of the best servers we have ever met.

Being of Italian heritage I really am very specific about what Italian restaurants I dine that. LaTavola is still by far one of the best restaurants in Atlanta and I highly recommend it. There Salumi apetizer will blow you away. Great thin slices of a variety of delectable salami. I guy is there today, Easter Sunday, and their Pasta is to die for. Great Bolognese sauce. Try it and you will continue to keep ret

We went with the Chef’s specials…great choices on our part. It was outstanding. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere.

My parents took me here for my high school graduation dinner. The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our meal. Everything was delicious, from the apetizer to dessert. Really enjoyed our meal. I had the seasonal special duck breast, and it was sooo good.

Seen as this was our favourite meal on our road trip 2 years ago it was certain to be booked again for this year's vacation. My wife and i and our 2 daughters booked a table online probably 10 months ago and the requested table was ready and waiting for us on arrival. We had the meatballs as starters all round which are just as good as we remembered for and dreamt of for 2 years. I had the ribeye filet which was served sliced cooked medium accompanied by pea spuma, shaved asparagus, roasted cippolini, fava beans. This was a wholesome and fresh dish cooked to perfection. My wife had the Roasted Chicken herb rub, cannellini beans, spring vegetables, lemon which again was a fresh summer dish. The girls had the Spaghetti marinara, basil which got thumbs up of the kids. If you dont know the area around the restaurant its set in a great tree lined surburb with several great bars & shops around so its great to go early & have a drink somewhere. Parking is on street and a little car park is just around the corner. Thanks again for a great night

Wife and I have been coming here for years and every single time we go "God that was a great meal". They mix up the menu a lot which makes coming back worthwhile. Tremendous atmosphere, great date night spot. This is a top recommendation for Atlanta.

La Tavola serves fresh and unique Italian food in the heart of Virginia Highland. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and prompt. Reservations are advised, as the restaurant is very popular.

One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The food is always great. I also love the neighborhood that it is in.

I visited here with family and we all thought the food and service were quite good. We had a variety of seafood, pastas and meat...all of which was excellent. And, in a test of a place claiming to be Italian, they actually made a passable Negroni! The service was well intentioned, although our waitress was not knowledgeable about the wine list, which always makes ordering a bit difficult. All in all, worth the price, and we would definitely return. We only wish they would do some soundproofing...or find more space!

We have been to this restaurant several times in the last 2 years and have had great food and service, so we were unprepared for what happened during our visit yesterday (Sunday October 9, 2016). In retrospect, we should have put off ordering and left, but it was almost 2 pm and we didn't have reservations anywhere else. The restaurant only had one couple inside but had people seated outside. We recognized our waiter; we had had him twice last year and he was very nice, helpful, and did a great job. Today something was obviously wrong. He asked twice (at different times) if we had questions about the menu. We said no, we've been here before. He cut off what we were saying and said "It's nice to have all the answers" in a very sarcastic tone. We were both pretty stunned but continued to order. He made other comments during the meal which were dripping with sarcasm. We lowered or voices and asked each other "What did we do?" We ordered the salmon bruschetta. The salmon, olives, and pickled red onion were excellent. The toast rounds could barely be sawed through with a knife and were badly burned on the bottom. We didn't complain, we just felt it wasn't worth it. I ordered Spaghetti Carbonara. My husband ordered the Mushroom Ragout. The flavor for both were very good BUT they were loaded with sodium. You could taste the salt, and by the time we left, my hands were swelling up rapidly (totally different from previous visits). The server very brusquely asked if were were having dessert. Then sarcastically repeated himself. He actually seemed very happy that we were leaving; we ordered drinks with the meal but did not linger AT ALL with the hostile atmosphere. When we were done, I was looking at photos of the meals I had taken on my phone that I was going to share with friends and say the food was good. Our server leaned over my shoulder looking at my phone, and informed me in a very sarcastic voice that they would be charging me a trademark fee for taking those photos. I shot back that I would be charging a photographer's fee. Nope, not going to recommend the food again to my friends. This meal was supposed to be a treat for us as we both have birthdays in October and both normally work 7 days/week in places 1,000 miles apart. I had flown down with my husband two days before (bringing my work with me) so I could spend 3 days together doing things like this special meal. I left feeling abused. My husband was pretty quiet except for our discussion in the car (parked a few blocks away and I had walked with an injured foot). Just a huge disappointment and very depressing. Not going back for a very long time, if ever. We had been huge fans and had recommended this restaurant around. A note about the Basil Limonada: we have had excellent ones before this day. The first one tasted like plain soda water with some flavor when stirred. We both agreed that the first round lacked alcohol and some other ingredient. I ordered a second one hoping for the best (I don't why). It was excellent. My husband agreed.

The bolognese is by far the best in Atlanta. The mushroom ragu is always the second choice when we eat here. The restaurant is consistently great and the atmosphere has not been lost over the years. Whenever we are in the city, we make a point to get to La Tavola. They have a great wine selection. The two top seating is difficult, as it backs up to the kitchen serving line, so it is pretty cramped. Always request a booth when making reservations.

La Tavola has become one of our favorite Italian restaurants in metro Atlanta. We regularly drive in from OTP and have never been disappointed. It has a great vibe, with delicious food and a fairly priced wine list.

Dined with my family recently on the back patio. Wonderful experience and food. Of the four meals, only the whole fish was slightly overcooked. But that is a difficult fish to prepare. The cannolli we had for dessert the best we have had outside of Italy. Valet parking in the back made visiting an ease.

Would absolutely recommend for couples. Very romantic. Authentic Italian meals (like pasta with pepper and cheese) with gluten free options on the menu for those who want it.

Had a great experience here thanks to an amazing server , Michael. He attended to every detail of our dining experience. Party of three. The food was wonderful, see pics. Service exceeded expectations. . Mushroom pasta, meatballs, calamari, rigatoni with vodka sauce, veal saltimbocca, burrata

We dine out often and mostly in North Fulton. I’m so glad we stepped out of our bubble and experienced La Tavola. Kit, Chris and Rain provided such a welcoming and wonderful evening for us to celebrate our anniversary. Our meals were perfectly prepared. Rain was meticulous with her attention to detail on the table setting and the pace of the dinner. The restaurant was vibrant and energetic. Five stars is too little. Maybe 7?

I have always considered LaTavola one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta. The meal I had Friday night was outstanding. I had the calamari served over black spagetti coated in a pesto sauce. The flavors were intense but not over powering. My friend had the veal meatballs and the risotto special, which I cannot remember how the risotto was prepared but my friend loved both of his dishes as well. We both concluded that this one of the best meals we have had in the last year. (we eat out approximately once a week). My only disappointment is that there were few vegetarian options available other than salads and risotto. I asked the server about the lack of vegetarian options (and this is usually not the case at LaTavola). She said they were about to change the menu and would offer more soon. We shared the cannoli for dessert, and it was wonderful. It was light and a perfect size to share .

It's DELICIOUS, great place to order pasta. The food is absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is great and comfortable and the staff is very professional and kind. I really recommend it!

We have been to the restaurant many times. Although the tables are close to each other in the front of the restaurant we choose to sit on the patio. It was very cozy and warm with the overhead heaters and more room to move around. All of our food was hot and tasty from the calamari to the pasta and seafood dish. The tiramisu is a must when visiting. Reservations are needed and the place is always full.

We came from Miami and found this beautiful Italian restaurant. The food was impeccable and our service with Jennifer was amazing. Highly recommended!!!!

Our family went recently for dinner, and not only was the food delicious, but the space felt clean. We felt everything was sanitary and comfortable eating in the restaurant.

The food here is excellent. Many of the dishes are available in smaller portions, so you can try different menu items easily. The wine selection is really great, just like the service. The tiramisu is excellent.

We went on a recent Sunday evening without reservations and there was a pretty big crowd. The inside was full but we were seated right away in the outside heated patio area. Our server, Mary Catherine was friendly and knowledgeable. We started with the Veal Meatballs – these were mouthwatering delicious. I’m not big on meatballs but loved them! I ordered the Tagoliolini and it was fantastic and the portion was pretty large. I enjoyed it again the next day for lunch. My husband had the Ricotta Gnocchi and it was cooked perfectly. We had Tiramisu for dessert and it was absolutely divine. The cooks know what they’re doing – this was overall a very enjoyable meal.

I've had Veal Saltimbocca many times in the US and in Italy. It's a Roman dish, and I've never seen it presented in the same way twice. The most successful versions have always had thin-sliced veal, with a very thin slice of prosciutto added, along with heavy sage and a lemony pan sauce. The first time I had it, at an "Italian" restaurant outside of Baltimore back in the early 80s, the veal was actually stacked with regular eggplant in addition to the other ingredients. Near as I can remember, the flavor was close, but no cigar. The best and most memorable serving I had was in a small restaurant near Malpensa Airport near Milan. The chef used six veal medallions fanned on the plate like a hand of cards, and the flavor was absolutely wonderful. The least successful was at an Italian restaurant here in Atlanta where they substituted pork loin for the veal. Don't know why, unless it's because they had another veal dish on the menu that they didn't want to undercut. It didn't even remind me of Saltimbocca which should always be veal. It didn't taste bad, just not right. I've eaten other meals at the same restaurant which I enjoyed. Anyway, a friend and I, all that remain of a long-defunct Atlanta BBS group who continued getting together monthly for a night out, were trying La Tavola. After living in the metro Atlanta area for 50 years, and fairly near this restaurant for the last 14+ of those years, I finally tried it. It was a pleasant evening. I waited too long to write this, because neither of us can remember what we both chose as an appetizer, but we both liked it. However, we also both had Veal Saltimbocca, George for the first time, and we both really liked it. George was already a veal fan. The veal Saltimbocca was cooked extremely well, and the flavor was right. It was accompanied by fingerling potatoes, which neither of us finished. The appetizer, unremembered, which had included grilled calamari, occupied too much stomach space to accommodate the potatoes. My apologies. I had a glass of Chianti and George, never big on beer or wine, just liquors, had water. We didn't stay for dessert, but I think I'd like to return to La Tavola and sample some more dishes. If they can do this well with Saltimbocca that's a very good indicator.

To say we eat out alot is an understatement, and this restaurant was definitely one of our favorites. We recently moved to Atlanta from Calgary, Canada and were on the look for a new Italian restaurant to fill the gap left in our stomaches from not having Mercato or Bocce down the road from us. The restaurant is in a great location in Virginia Highlands, with free valet parking right across the street. The host staff was friendly and inviting, and sat us promptly. The atmosphere is vibrant, with a great vibe of conversations, music and kitchen chatter. The menu is clean with a good selection of choices for each stage of the meal, but not a menu which is overwhelming. We chose the burrata appetizer - a bowl of creamy burrata cheese served with Georgia peaches and balsamic vinegar. The complimentary warm bread is a must with this dish. For our mains, we ordered the lasagna - a vegetable pie served again with that amazing, creamy burrata cheese and ricotta, with baked mozzarella on top - and the saltimbocca - a perfectly cooked veal steak served in a delicious lemon wine sauce with fingerling potatoes. Our server was attentive, and knowledgeable. Chef Justin Jordan took the time to chat with us, recognizing us from a visit a month previous, and sent over a delicious bowl of peach gelato to share. We also shared the cannollis which are outstanding, and a must no matter how full you are after this meal. Needless to say, we have found our new local Italian eatery.

What a great place. In Virginia Highlands is a wonderful neighborhood. We enjoyed salads, fish, pasta and veal. Love a tight menu it shows that the kitchen knows what it is about and doesn’t need to be everything to everyone. Service was excellent with the most detailed wine and food descriptions I have ever head. When in Atlanta again we will be back.

patio ambiance is ruined by the noise of dishes and silverware being cleaned. mgmt needs to address this asap. wine by glass is limited.

Upon entering the restaurant, we felt we were back in Italy. While we were waiting for our other guests to join us we ordered the cheese tasting board. The two cheeses that were served with bread were very good, but the amount of cheese was very limited for the fee that was charged. Once our guests arrived, we ordered the hangar steak and tagliatelle bolognese and each were absolutely delicious. My pasta was perfectly cooked and the flavor will take you on a trip to Italy. The hangar steak was also perfectly cooked and two perfectly silklen cooked poached eggs added to the dining experience. Our server was attentive to our dining needs and was very pleasant and humorous. He added to our dining experience. I suggest, go enjoy your Italian dining experience. We look forward to going back there for an evening to partake in the dinner offerings.

This restaurant was amazing! I went with a group of friends craving pasta. La Tavola delivered perfect homemade pasta dishes full of flavor. Nothing we ate was heavy like American Italian restaurants. We started with the cheese plate and that was good but a bit to simple. We had a choice of two cheeses, one hard and one soft, and two fruits, one sweet and one vinegary. Size was good for 2-3 people. We were also given bread with oil (no spices in oil). Bread was homemade and pretty good. Clearly, the star of the night was our pasta dishes. We ordered the gnocchi, lasagna, and a seasonal plate. Each was perfect in everyway. We finished our meal with the tirimasu and that was also delicious. Prices were perfect for what we got. Portion sizes were appropriate. Not the monstrous sizes you get at American Italian restaurants. The wine selection had a good variety from region, type, and price. Service was also wonderful and knowledgeable. I ordered my servers recommendation and was very pleased. Cant wait to return.

La Tavola never disappoints. The food and drinks are great, and the atmosphere is like a little slice of the really big city. But with a little more space between tables. Make reservations in advance or you might be disappointed as they're usually quite busy.

Very decent location. A place where you can go on a date and have very good Italian food. Very good pasta. My personal favorite is the risotto. Wide and good wine selection.

We had dinner here recently while visiting our daughter in Atlanta. It is in a very cute little neighborhood and is a real gem. The cocktails were very interesting and the food was really delicious. Very nice decor. We highly recommend this restaurant for a nice Italian dinner. Will definitely return!!

Food varies with the season and is always great but on the expensive side. Service staff is great but the kitchen staff has way too much attitude. They need someway to keep them from even seeing the customers as they glare at people they perceive to not like.... Tipping for a booth or better table does no good as the restaurant is quite small. I recommend for 4 but not more for dinner. Some of the customers seem to also have attitude about who sit next to them which is unusual for Atlanta. Great food but unusual vibes on some visits from the kitchen or customers slinging attitude (they appear to just be snooty not Italian mobsters). Again, great food!

Went to LaTavola with my husband and had an amazing dinner. They accommodated us with an outdoor table and wore masks. Service, food and drinks were the best! The homemade ravioli was as good as I’ve had in Italy, with a light pesto sauce, done just perfect. My husband ordered the saltimbocca and it was tender with lots of flavor. The is a small gem in Atlanta that everyone should try!

My family and i were nearing the end of our road trip from the uk and had already looked up La Tavola on the web. After reading such great reviews we had high expectations and were not dissapoiinted. The spaghetti meatballs was to die for and i can only dream of it when back in the uk. The whole family enjoyed their meals and we all agreed it was the best restaurant on our travels. The atmosphere, food, staff were all perfect. Looking forward to planning our next trip !!

A great find, lovely atmosphere with good service and food. Nice bar with good local draft beers. A couple of us had the fish of the day which as swordfish was great. Will go back.

Great food, ambience and service. Our server was fabulous. Ask for Jill! Homemade pasta and excellent wine list. You can't go wrong dining at this fun, hip spot.

I'm traveling abroad and have been reviewing restaurants as I've visited. I just realized I have never reviewed my favorite hometown restaurant which I have been frequenting for over a decade. LaTavola is my idea of the perfect neighborhood Italian restaurant. The food is excellent -clean and not over complicated but beautiful and delicious. A must-try is the mushroom ragu! The waitstaff is extremely knowledgeable about the menu and wine list.

We enjoyed the place. Nice atmosphere and attentive service. The food was fine. We shared a fair caesar salad. It had powdered parmesan cheese which surprised me. Tsk tsk. The wife had the roasted chicken which was impeccable. Perfect. Daughter had spaghetti and meatballs which was just fine. Nothing special. I had the Tagliatelle was was about like the spaghetti. Fine. Nothing special. The total tab was $93 which is commensurate with the service and locale but not the food quality.

Excellent food excellent service I would 100% recommend this restaurant for authentic Italian. Great atmosphere

During my visit to this restaurant on (1-24-2021) at 8 pm. We experienced what seemed like dirty food and even worse management. My friend had ordered the dish that was recommended by the waiter with the black ink pasta and squid. She found a piece that looked like plastic on her plate, and we informed the waiter, they took her plate, but then returned it as it is and the manager told us that the big squared piece of plastic “is actually the outer shell of the squid, did u still want to eat”. First off, squids don’t have outer shells, it’s not a crustacean and yes we want to eat, that’s why we’re here. The manager just did not handle it well and for almost $90 for each person, which included a forced 20% tip. You would expect safe food and good customer service. But that wasn’t our experience. The appetizers, drinks, and desserts were good, but none of us liked any of our main courses, all were very greasy and really heavy & of course, one was unsafe to eat. The waiter was ok, but friendly. The atmosphere was ok until our experience flipped.

This was recommended by the hotel. The ambiance of the restaurant is bustling. The bar was full, the tables packed, and the heated patio full. The food was good, but there was a very limited selection. However, the wine list was extensive and excellent. Going solo is a real, problem. Overall, I would go again, have reservation, and arrive early

From the outside this place looks small but inviting. We had made reservations for this small but cozy restaurant. We crammed ourselves in the front area with three other couples all arriving at the same time. We fortunately had reservations and were seated promptly. Unfortunately we were given a very small two top table crammed next to two very opinionated men who you could not help but over hear there conversations. The fortunate part we were seated in the window so we could see the outside street life. Initially we were a little dismayed by the lack of personal space afforded us by our seating. But our server was very friendly and made our time there wonderful. She helped us with our wine selection. We ordered the rabbit and the duck entrees. She set it up for us to come out in two courses as we indicated we wanted to share our entrees. They were very accommodating. The food was amazing. This was a top shelf food experience. We were celebrating our anniversary and had indicated it on our reservation. They had provided us a nice little desert to share to top our meal off. For the experience we enjoyed here we would definitely recommend a visit. It took us a little while to warm up to but it was a wonderful experience.

Great food with great service! We sat at the bar with Will and were very satisfied! Will made us two great Old Fashions and had great menu suggestions! Sit at the bar with Will!

One of the Fifth Group Restaurants which is so superb, as they all are, La Tavola features the best Italian food in Atlanta. Located in the Virginia Highlands area of Atlanta it has a great very delectable taste of Italy. I would definitely recommend the Salami Board for your appetizer. It has finely sliced Prosciutto, salami, pickled vegetables, and more. It's great. Follow it up with a Cesar Salad and my favorite Tagliatelle Bolognese. It's the best in Atlanta. Top it all off with Tiramisu or Blackberry Sorbet and an Expresso and you will feel like you are in Italy. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

We absolutely count this restaurant as one of our top restaurants in Atlanta and for sure our favorite Italian restaurant. It's a quiet little restaurant in a great area in the Virginia Highlands. The food as always did not disappoint. From appetizer to entree to dessert we could not have had a better experience. And the staff is so very friendly there. We loved every aspect of this meal and this should be on anyones list looking for authentic high quality Italian food!

This place is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The food is simply amazing, the atmosphere is nice and the service is great. I absolutely love this restaurant and recommend it!

I may be swayed a bit by the fact this is a walk-to place from our house in Atlanta, but I'd drive to get to La Tavola. Truly remarkable ambiance and service. We like to sit at the bar, as reservations can be hard to get on the weekends. Wonderful appetizers (I like the crudo, which changes with the market)--the veal meatballs and the caesar salad stand out and are large enough to share. Favorites include the mushroom and ricotta ravioli in brown butter and sage, as well as the frequent offering of braciole, and even their plain old spaghetti and meatballs is rich and satisfying without being overly-heavy. Great wine list.

I attended a business dinner at La Tavola recently and it was a very memorable experience. Located in Virginia Highlands the location offers both indoor and outdoor dining. The atmosphere is low key and relaxed offering a great space for talking and enjoying a nice meal The beet salad and meatballs were both outstanding appetizers For main course I enjoyed the roasted chicken which had a nice chili spice included on the meat. This was served with sea island red peas which were very tasty. The service was top notch for the duration of the meal. Very attentive and yet not overbearing. I highly recommend this restaurant for a business dinner, date night or special occasion.

Highly recommend, would definitely eat there again. Great find in a great neighborhood. We ate inside, but was told that their outdoor patio is very comfortable too. The waitress was very friendly and efficient – her name was Jill. The food presentation, taste and smell was very fine.

Had a really good dining experience. Food was good. Had a complimentary valet parking. However, of you are looking for a lot of pasta dishes, there aren't many. But food is good.

Have eaten here several times, and always a good meal. I suggest reservations because it gets crowded fast. We ate light tonight and split a beet salad, which is definitely enough for two and delicious. (If you like beets). I had the Tagliatelle @ $17.00, my friend had the grilled calamari @ $14. Usually calamari is served fried, so this is was a different presentation and she enjoyed it. I like La Tavola because the menu prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly, the service is spot on, and the food is fresh and original. Their pasta is homemade. There is also outdoor seating, a large wrap around deck, up on the second story level, overlooking the parking lot. In case of rain they can let down the protective plastic sheathing, otherwise you can enjoy the fresh outdoor air. Valet parking available across the street, or come early, park free on the street and shop a little before dinner. A lot of fun shops in the area to check out.

Get a real feel for an Atlanta Intown neighborhood. The clientele are local and the food is excellent. All of the pasta dishes are excellent and come in half (appetizer) portions if you would like to share an entree. Extensive wine list and full bar.

Whole branzino fileted at table was superb along with excellent Caesar salad with added anchovies. Good reasonably priced wine selection.l oved the lasagna.

This has always been a great, reliable, neighborhood gem. The staff and kitchen seemed very disorganized for a Monday night - perhaps they didn't expect it to be so busy but it is the holiday season so you'd think they would be prepared. Service was way off and there seemed to be a perpetual butter fire in the kitchen. Not their best night.

We wanted to eat here with friends driving in from a distant suburb but plans weren’t finalized until three days prior to that Saturday. Let this be a lesson…reserve way ahead! The only time we could get was 5:30 p.m. outside on the back balcony, or, after 9 p.m. The time and location were fine with us, especially as the balcony has both heating and ceiling fans to match the temperature. (Note that when we arrived, we were told a table was available inside, but it was a beautiful afternoon/evening and we stuck with the original plan.) Our meal was a great success, start to finish. Our waitress was prompt and attentive—almost too prompt and attentive, as we gabbed so much she had to keep returning to see if we were ready to order. The menu is not that long, nor is the wine list, but it carries an adequate selection to match the various dishes offered. Not many wines are available by the glass and those that are are priced from $9-12 although a few topped out at $15, $16, even $18. I chose a pinot gris to go with my fish dish; my husband drank a chianti. Two of us had the night’s special: sea bass accompanied by a quinoa and sliced asparagus salad with a Meyer lemon dressing ($28). The other two had the saltimbocca alla romana—veal rolled in prosciutto—with fingerling potatoes and an anchovy vinaigrette ($26). Both entrées were generous portions, and excellent. We shared two “contorni” (vegetables). The roasted brussels sprouts with small chunks of pear in a hazelnut vinaigrette ($6) was delicious. The mix of cauliflower and romanesco (an edible flower bud related to broccoli) with a bagna cauda (a sauce of garlic, anchovies, olive oil, and butter; $8), was rather dry and unexceptional. We shared a dessert of Meyer lemon olive oil cake topped with lemon curd and candied kumquats, with a bare dollop of lemon sorbetto ($8). Delectable, especially the kumquats. As the balcony filled up (it is convivially shared with four or five other restaurants whose entrance are on either Highland or Virginia avenues) it became noisier and conversation more difficult. The band at a residential backyard event two doors down didn’t help. But by that time we were ready to adjourn…down two flights of “fire escape” type steps to the also-communal valet parking area and into our car. Couldn’t have been easier.

We were able to get a reservation on short notice. Otherwise, this place did not live up to the hype. The escarole salad was charred, not my favorite way to have a salad. If it had been noted on the menu or the server had mentioned this, I would have requested thay they skip the char as it just leads to wilted, disgusting lettuce. There were no GF pasta options, not even risotto! I don't eat meat but occasionally have fish. With only one menu option, and it was market price so changes regularly, it was not worth trying. Our server took multiple requests to bring straws for our drinks and butter for the bread, despite the place not being busy yet- per her opinion, because as we were leaving she noted we were getting out before it got crazy. I found this to be overpriced with a very limited menu.

Dominic seated us and was professional and friendly. Our server, Emily, was attentive and knowledgeable about every facet of the menu and wine list. She made us feel that we were her only table. The food and wine were great. We’ll be back.

Went here for a date night to try something new. Very Small and tables are very close together. We had more room outside and more personal space so that is where we sat. The outside patio was covered so it wasn't too cold to sit out there. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. The food was very good as well. The veal meatballs was delicious and I also had the short ribs which melted in your mouth. I was full when I left so I was pleased. Parking is limited so we parked on a residential street nearby

We had dinner here with friends. It's a great spot in Virginia Highlands. Had the whole fish - branzini (a type of sea bass). It was delicious. Waiter was very helpful with wine suggestions suggestions.

Visited for Sunday brunch, food was excellent. All plates ended up empty. I will consider portions small, typically we don’t make it to dessert, but we did here. We were glad we had the chance to order dessert, they were very good as well, but not as good as the food. Service was very good. Will recommend it.

I have eaten at this restaurant twice and it is delicious! The atmosphere is very lively - you are in close quarters with other diners but it has that trendy New York/hidden gem feel! When my husband and I dined just the two of us, we were sat a two-person table that was very small and close to the other guests (able to perfectly hear your neighbor's conversation). But when my family of four dined, we were seated in a comfortable booth that felt very private. I would not recommend going to this restaurant if you want a private, intimate dinner date unless you are able to request a booth for the two of you! The food is wonderful! I order the Caesar Salad (the dressing is so good) and the Spaghetti with tomato sauce (add the Veal meatballs on top)! The pasta is perfectly cooked - flavor of the sauce and texture of the pasta remind me of Italy! I always finish my plate here! Both times I have visited, the Manager or Chef have come by the table to ask about the meal. That is always a nice thing to see!

Was expecting more from a recommended $16 glass of wine to go with a nice osso buco but it was like a simple table wine, kind of bitter, aftertaste of pits. They do have a good white from Sicily, complex flavors with a sour note.

It's been over 10 years since I had the pleasure of visiting La Tavola. I recently was in ATL on business and had the opportunity to go back for dinner. It didn't disappoint. La Tavola goes out of its way to provide the feel of an upscale neighborhood italian restaurant. There's nothing chain-like about it. The food is delish and the service is always excellent. Everyone I brought with me enjoyed every minute. The pasta is always cooked to perfection and there are plenty of excellent wine choices. The small environment and the setting of Virginia Highlands always adds to the experience. I highly recommend La Tavola!

Recently went to La Tavola while visiting Atlanta and was enjoyed dining there. The food was very good and the meals were reasonably portioned. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Dined outside where there was no appreciable noise level.

Came here for mom's 80th birthday. Sat on the patio, which is quiet, airy, and quiet. Lovely spot. I think we all ordered egg dishes. Started with a salmon appetizer, which was nice. I ordered a frittata, which had lots of veggies and a side of potatoes. Big portions. The restaurant provided tiramisu birthday cake for mom. It was very tasty yet not as dense and creamy as I've seen. Good service.

For years it's been our go-to when we want really good, homemade-style Italian. Good service, good food, good value. When the craving hits and we don't want to cook, la tavola is at the top of the list.

Very happy with our entire dining experience. The food was excellent, the service was terrific and the atmosphere was very nice. Will look forward to going to this establishment again in the future.

Great little place in the Virginia highland area. Worth going. It's a fun little area to wander after eating a great meal. Inventive menu with interesting flavors. Traditional Italian dishes too. Wine list is plentiful. Informed and helpful wait staff. The atmosphere is cozy and loud. Fun place and is always a delight to eat here.

Ate here recently for the fist time. Food was amazing. The veggie pasta was great, veal meatballs were great. Both fish dishes were prepared perfectly. The chocolate desserts were fantastic. Wait staff was attentive and executive chef spent some time with us to ensure best if food/service. We will be back.

We decided to sit outside on a gorgeous summers day with fans overhead. Yes the view looks out onto a carpark but the breeze was appreciated. Emily our service was a star from start to finish. Great recommendations, explanations and nothing was any bother. Food was fresh and delicious and plentiful. Try the homemade limoncello, the best I have ever had. Very smooth. Most everything apart from the bread is made in-house (the bread was fresh and delicious and made locally)

Seven of us, including my 6 year old granddaughter, were seated on the back terrace. We ordered two appetizers and a bottle of wine to start. We shared 3 entrees and two desserts, all eaten family style. The food is superb. The service was friendly, prompt and efficient. We have eaten here before and will eat here again.

Three for dinner on a Saturday night, reservations are a must. This is a very popular place. We were seated quickly after arriving a few minutes before our reservation time. Our server explained a few things about the menu and took our drink order. It is a tight space and when very busy it is a little loud. Our server really kept tabs on us and our food was delivered pretty quickly for such a busy night. We ordered Monk fish, spaghetti and braised beef. We each very much enjoyed our selections, my braised beef was excellent. We did not order dessert but did have coffee. Parking can be a challenge on a Saturday night so we valet parked across the street in the Wells Fargo lot, highly recommended. Great staff and great food makes for a nice experience.

Great meal at La Tavola. Found the menu to be inventive and the wine list to be excellent. Sitting outside on the balcony was very comfortable on a warm evening. Our server, Harris, was world-class. Asked for recommendations and he hit it right on the mark after asking a few questions. A New York class server who knows his restaurant and what will make the guests enjoy the visit. I'd go back here anytime.

I had not been to La Tavola for several years now I remember why. I ordered the special and was disappointed. The pork chop I was told was very juicy, it was not. I thought the wine prices were well above average. The service was good but the quality of the food was only fair.

What a lovely restaurant. Great food, good service and lovely atmosphere. Super for a night out with the family or a special night for a couple.

Was in Atlanta on a Sunday night, and La Tavola was one of the few places open, so we opted for it, and very happy we did. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and the fact that they don't have a TV blasting a game, is just fantastic. The calamari appetizer with the cauliflower and aoli is great. The family fought over who got the last bite. The charcuterie is both yummy, but has more interesting cured meats than your average plate. Both truffle pastas must be ordered. The only downside at all was the squid ink pasta; I normally LOVE squid ink pasta, but this one just didn't work. Nonetheless, I would still recommend La Tavola.

La Tavola is part of the Fifth Group Restaurant group and it is a STAR in the group. The food is always fresh and consistent. I have been going for years and have never had a bad meal

Went with friends to eat for a birthday. Had a good wine selection, except they gave me a glass that was flat. I drank it anyway. The second glass was better. We ordered lasagna, spaghetti/meatballs, and the veal. The lasagna was totally burnt on the bottom so much that we had to send it back. When asked why they served us burnt lasagna they said it was because it was the last 2 pieces. They asked us what we wanted instead so we ordered the appetizer spaghetti because it was the fastest meal. By the time we received our food my friends were finished. The appetizer spaghetti was all of 3 bites. They had the nerve to come by our table and tell us that the lasagna was taken off the bill even though we only had one bite and they took it away when we ordered the spaghetti. Most restaurants would have comped the spaghetti or given us a free desert. Not here. We won't be back.

The atmosphere is lively and cozy. My husband and I ate here on a night when they had $10 specials. My husband had a meatless option from the special menu. He greatly enjoyed it. I had the Tagliatelle which was the best I have ever had. We both had Pistachio Cake which was delicious. Good wine menu. Excellent service. Reservations strongly recommended. Parking is a problem. Take a cab and save yourself a half hour or more trying to find somewhere to park. If you enjoy great Italian food you will love this restaurant.

Fantastic food and very charming atmosphere. Loved the gf options and variety of wines . Saltimbocca and ink squid pasta were our favorites . Don’t skip the tiramisu .❤️

We at here recently for an anniversary dinner and we are never disappointed. The food and the service is always outstanding. Highly recommended.

Despite being the last table seated on a Friday night, we received excellent service and the food was tasty: meatball appetizer, tuna and Veal Chopp entrees, some bubbly water and a waiter who wrestled and played football...a Georgia Techie. A delightful dinner in a restaurant that makes an effort and delivers.

We’re at La Tavola at least once a month and it has never disappointed. Strongly suggest that you make reservations. They offer a regular menu that is updated seasonly as well as special tasting menus that run for a week or two (tomato harvest, etc.). The staff has always been responsive and as they rotate team members from various restaurants as part of the Fifth Food Group the service has always been consistent. Too many menu favorites to recommend. However, on Mondays they typically do a Malta (?) Monday that has 3 or 4 various entrees for $10 ea that are in addition to the regular menu. Would be good for your first time trying the menu.

This visit to La Tavola was together with an out-of-State couple. My wife and I liked it, as much as our guests. I made the reservation though Open Table, and someone from the restaurant also called me before arrival time. Ambience, food, & service all passed our "fine" judgement tests. It proved to be a great choice. What we tested, we liked. We tried: tagliatelle Bolognese, Cesar salad, meatballs sample, Saltimbocca (veal a little short on the prosciutto), risotto, olive oil rosemary cake, cannoli, coffee, wine, virgin limonada, etc. There were many people in cheerful conversation inside the main restaurant, and back in the terrace. Our booth was good to see action in the open kitchen and constant flow of servers & customers. It was a rainy Thursday night, and La Tavola was full between 7 to 8 pm. We live in Acworth, GA, about 35 miles out, but will be back.

We had the opportunity to eat at La Tavola while visiting Atlanta. It is a neighborhood restaurant serving fresh, nicely presented Italian food. Many things on the menu looked interesting so we decided to order everything family style and share all of the appetizers and main dishes. The olives were so delicious that we had to had a second order. We also shared the Salumi Board that was generous enough for five people to share. All of the dishes that we shared were very tasty including the tagliatelle, scallop risotto, and taglioliini. My favorite, maybe because I love mushrooms, was the tagliolini. We also had the veal meatball appetizer as part of our main dishes. Don't miss the desserts. They are housemade and great.

Before travelling from the uk on our Georgia road trip we did plenty of research and we found la tavola online and decided to book a table. We were not disappointed. The meatballs with spaghetti were just to die for. The flavour of the meat and the delicate texture was like nothing i have tasted before, in a good way of course ! The service was excellent. Polite, professional and not rushed. This is the perfect neighbourhood restaurant, just wish it was in ours back at home in England.

I went with friends Saturday and have not been in a long time. Service was slow at the beginning, because the bar was backed up. Got through that and I ordered the veal saltimbocca. I was not really impressed. The dish was salty, and one of my friends who ordered the same thing said she thought it was salty too...and she likes salt! The veal was tender, but this could have been much better. I was disappointed, especially since I was really looking forward to a great meal. It may be a great “neighborhood place but there is much better Italian food in ATL

The concierge at our hotel recommended this retaurant and it was a short Lyft ride from downtown. Nice intimate location with seating on the back patio as well as inside. Very hands on by owners and staff. My wife had the spaghetti marinara with veal meatballs and the olives appetizer. I had a caesar salad -- best croutons ever and the Tagliatelle bolognese. Excellent choice and the complimenatry bread with dipping oil was quite good. We ended sharing their Boccone dolce for dessert and coffee. A most wonderful evening. My wife pronounced it the best Italian she has ever had.

This Italian Restaurant is delicious, if you're craving for pasta this is your right place, friendly staff and great desserts!

Ate a lot of good meals in Atlanta, this was the favorite. All the food was excellent and the service was top notch as well. I had the agnolotti del plin which was so superb my mouth is watering just thinking of it. I can't wait to go back again.

Great little Italian Restaurant. Offer their pasta dishes in appetizer size so you can try a few, pasta is cooked al dente - even the gnocchi which isn’t normally the case. Short ribs melted in my mouth. The polenta and risotto were different than I’m used to - kind of a “grits” flair to them which wasn’t altogether bad, just unexpected.

The food was great. Unfortunately after we paid our bill and left the restaurant the waiter ran out after us, accusing us of ?? Under tipping??? Because he said the bill was more than we paid. We did not take our receipt so we could not prove that we paid the correct amount AND left a tip. Very embarrassing and I do not think we will return because of it. Together our party spent over $300 there

The Virginia Highlands area of Atlanta is delightful with its combination of restaurants and shops, and an authentic, old fashioned hardware store. Parking is always at a premium, but when you can eat at La Tavola Trattoria, you don’t mind walking a couple of blocks. Great bread, check. Homemade Burrata! Check! Homemade pasta with delicious sauces that are out of the ordinary recipes with fresh ingredients, check, check! What’s there not to Love?

La Tavola is a great neighborhood restaurant that serves consistently excellent food. The menu is Italian fare some of which changes with the season. The restaurant also hosts quarterly festivals which highlight creative dishes that follow a theme, such as The Tomato Fest which occurs each July. The service is also excellent. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Dinner at the bar is always a treat. Sunday brunch is also delicious.

Almost like Italy in Atlanta. The meat and cheese platter was very good. Spaghetti with veal meatballs and tagliatelle pasta with mushrooms were very good. All five party really enjoyed their meals. We will be back.

This was our (my wife and I)second time at Tavola. But, the first time for our friends. Our last visit was 2 years ago and the menu looked totally different from what it was back then. But, the taste of the food and the service hasn’t changed, A+ all around. Great teamwork and kudos to Emily (our waitress). Shift manager came around twice to make sure we were having a good time. One suggestion if you are planning to visit this restaurant and will have a more than 6 people in your party. Ask to be seated in the outside cover patio. Restaurant is too small and narrow and too much foot traffic all around you. Patio is heated in the winter and it has a great atmosphere in the summer time.

Came here on a Wednesday night and had their ink squid pasta and swordfish. Swordfish was delicious, the pasta was alright - slightly oversalted to our taste. Also when a customer asks their calamari squid not to include the baby squids, the chef should honor that. Instead they didn't want to remove them! Finished with a tiramisu which was good, although lacked coffee flavor. What bothered me most was that this place lacks all the good classic Italian dishes, especially appetizers. No sign of bruschettas, capreses or prosciuttos e melone. No Lasagnas either! Service was good and atmosphere pretty nice with the exception of their landline phone sometimes blaring by the entrance.

We went to La Tavola for our Anniversary dinner. We had a great experience. Emily, our server, was very knowledgeable and helpful. The food arrived in good time and tasted great. The setting had a slightly more cramped feel than I would have preferred, but not overly so. I would definitely recommend!!!

I ate here with three of my friends. We all ordered different items and shared a few appetizers. Every dish was incredibly delicious! Our server was so attentive even though the restaurant was extremely busy. He gave us great recommendations and seemed like he actually enjoyed his work. I would highly recommend La Tavola!

Chose this place to celebrate our first anniversary, even though we'd never been. When booking two days before, they asked if this was a special occasion and my husband said yes, our first anniversary. When they called to confirm the day of, they verified we were celebrating an anniversary. When we arrived (on time on a weeknight), we were immediately taken to what has to be the worst table in the house: a tiny 2-person table crammed in the window next to another couple, so tight even the waiter couldn't get between us without a butt in the face. It was like everyone else was in the main dining room and we were stuck at the kids' table--on our anniversary. The corner was so dark that I couldn't even read the menu. People waiting for a table at the door were perched over my husbands shoulder and kept staring at what he was eating over his shoulder like we were on display. We were very disappointed but tried to make the best of it. Our salads and the veal meatballs were very good as was the tiramisu; however, our entrees were disappointing. I had the tagliolini mushroom ragu--based on all the good reviews--however, I found that my noodles were very gooey and bland. There was no salt on the table so I couldn't even try to season it to my taste. I don't remember what dish my husband had but he was also disappointed and said the sauce was way too watery. So, the atmosphere was disappointing, as were the entrees. At no time did anyone acknowledge our anniversary even though they had asked about it on two separate occasions and had obviously made a note of it because the person calling to confirm the reservation did verify it. I don't need a comped meal or other freebies, but if you're going to ask if it's a special occasion and we say yes, at least acknowledge it! What's the point of even asking? At least save us a nice table! I could see getting a crappy table if we showed up late, but we were on time and the one person who should have acknowledged our special night, the manager, is the one who sat us with no acknowledgement and did not even ask if that table was acceptable. It was like making a reservation was pointless--no tables had been reserved for us and we would have gotten the same table if we had just walked in. Eating out is a treat for us and we wanted something extra special for our first anniversary--we could have gone anywhere--but this place really took our special day and made it ordinary. We would have been much happier just going to Carrabba's for better food, half the cost, and a nicer table.

Had dinner on the patio. Good service from our waiter Blake. Nice cocktail, caesar salad and pasta with mushroom ragu. Celiacs in our party had no problem getting gluten-free meals. Nice atmosphere.

We had a reservation for a party of 3 for a late dinner - at 9:15 PM. We called in to let them know that we were about 10 minutes late. They held our table and we were seated immediately. Our waitress Donna was awesome. She made many recommendations for us as we are vegetarians. For appetizers we got the Olives, the fingerling potatoes and the buttermilk ricotta. The buttermilk ricotta was awesome. My son had the homemade lemonade. My wife stuck with water while I had the whiskey cocktail which was very good. The highlight of the meal was the main courses. We ordered 3 pastas - we ordered them in appetizer portions...The red wine risotto was great, the butternut squash cannelloni was fantastic but the highlight was the mushroom ragu with spaghetti. It was so good, we ordered another full order of it. We ordered a couple of desserts between the 3 of us. The Boccone Dolce was phenomenal with dark chocolate cream, ginger snap and roasted pears...But the Olive oil lemon rosemary cake was out of this world. It was one of the best desserts we have had in a long time. This is truly a neighborhood gem - highly recommended.

It’s 45 degrees outside and they have every heater on in the porch area— it was at least 80 degrees. The waitress was awesome but had multiple #-tops she we did not see much of her. The menu was “meh”. All in all it was “okay”. Next time I will bring a short-set to change into.

Ann, our amazing concierge at the superb Clifton Inn suggested we invest some dining time here and we were pleased+. This chef KNOWS Italian, as demonstrated by our insalata caprese starter, linguine alla carbonara, breaded eggplant seconds. All A+ and having my fave Peroni beer on tap earns extra credit points. Our server, Rachel, was always in customer-comes-first-mode. The seating is a bit on the cozy/tight side which adds a bit of the eclectic to this quasi-funky eatery. Think a casual place in Greenwich Village. But there was one, genuine bafflement. We entered via the front door and immediately were cautioned, firmly-friendly to "go around the side to get in." Ok. Maybe a rookie mistake but there was no directional sign at the door. Hmmmm. So we go down a narrow alleyway, open the side door...and the first thing we see is....a bathroom. Not appetizing. The potential for off-putting was happily offset by an ebullient greeter, who escorted us to our reserved table --- up near the aforementioned front door. As we dined at least three other couples made the same rookie error. We all laughed about it, but here's a recco: piece of paper, black sharpie, the word ENTER in big letters and a big arrow pointing right to left. Tip provided free of charge! Anecdote aside, dinner was outstanding in a VERY casual way. Definitely worth your dining dollars.

Great find. Have been living in Atlanta for 31 years and just discovered what is now our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. Reminded us of many of the great Italian places in NYC. The service was terrific and the menu was diverse. Every dish we had had amazing flavor with a slight twist on the usual ingredients. Looking forward to many more visits to the restaurant!

Found this nice Italian restaurant in midtown. The food was good. Service very good. The menu was small but offered a good mix of items. Definitely a highlight of the trip. Its about 10min from downtown but worth the drive. Uber is only $6. Prices are in line with the food and service. $30+ per person.

Wish we could have rated the food but were treated so badly at the door, we decided to leave. We left thinking our 5-month-old was the issue. If you don't want children in your restaurant, say so.

II would highly recommend this spot! We had great food with many authentic Italian options. The ambiance was warm and friendly and bustling. Do get a reservation. The server was fun but knowledgeable. It was tough, really tough to decide what items to order and in what order. I certainly look forward to eating at that establishment again. I can understand why the place is popular.

Incredible Italian food. Everything. Great portions at reasonable prices. The best meatballs I think I've ever tasted. Our server was very well informed and eager to help us choose a great meal. We sat out on a lovely second-floor balcony around dusk.

Service was very good, waitress was knowledgeable about the dishes. The food was excellent - all in our party ordered the bolognaise dish based upon our previous visit the week before. The atmosphere was lively and most welcoming. Would highly recommend this restaurant!'

A group of 4 of us shared two antipasti courses: the salumi board, which looks huge, but given the thinly sliced meats and such, was a perfect starter along with the grilled calamari with shaved asparagus and radish, lemon, asparagus aioli. I think I could have just had that for dinner. It was great. We then shared appetizer portions of several of the items under Primi: the risotto, tagliatelle, and the squid ink spaghetti. All excellent. My main course meal consisted of veal, which was okay. I think if I returned, I’d repeat the two antipasti courses and then a dinner of pasta. Excellent overall. Would return again. Bread and desserts were outstanding.

I love La Tavola! Ate dinner there last night with friends while visiting Atlanta. Nice Italian restaurant with a great menu. I had the black ink squid pasta dish. Delicious! They also had a great vodka/lemon/basil cocktail. It's mid-range priced. They have a wonderful outdoor patio in the back that's heated in the winter so you can sit inside or out. The main dining room is quite small so I recommend a reservation. I've eaten here by myself and sat at the bar which is fun and intimate, but not a lot of seats so you might have to wait. $2.00 valet parking right across from the restaurant. A++

Best meatballs anywhere outside of Italy! The Caesar salad, not so much. But overall a great meal. Grilled Calamari and Spaghetti Nero were truly delicious. Definitely ask for bread too. Charming, lively vibe.

Lovely quaint restaurant in virginia highlands. Love the atmosphere. Great caesar salad to start with. but the highlight of our dinner was the bognese pasta sauce. So good could have just eaten a bowl of it. Some of the best I have had in Atlanta and Italy. The menu is great and there are other great dishes also. Good wine list variety of prices. Great service.

A fun place to eat with wonderful food and wine. We were meeting a friend and actually were able to spend an enjoyable evening with conversation. We did not have to shout across the table. Just a very intimate feeling.

At first glance, this place might not seem so special. Nothing glittering, nothing pretentious. But ohhhh - it's spectacular. The arrangement of the menu is brilliant, and the food - real Italian. So delicious. The service is expert, too. Attentive, knowledgeable - but never intrusive. This place is not to be missed! We came for a very festive, celebratory meal, and we were more than delighted.

Service is excellent, the servers seem to be having a good time. We had brunch which was just in the "OK" range really, but the salmon appetizer was excellent. I had shrimp and polenta, which I suppose is the Italian version of S&G. I'll try the more Italian items next time I think. They had nice bellinis for $6 each. It was a nice day outside and I wish they had outdoor seating but there isn't room. Parking can be an issue in the area. There are a lot of restaurants and shops at that intersection for the space available.

Very Nice place.I love italian food. And this is the right place. Excellent pasta.TAGLIATELLE BOLOGNESE is highly recommended

Virginia Highlands is a quaint neighborhood in Atlanta furnished with iconic bars and restaurants. La Tavola is located in downtown VH with a decor of old world Chicago married with new age New Orleans on the outside balcony. The inside is gorgeous with tight seating, a bar, loud, and AC in the dead of summer. The balcony is great seating, less loud and comfortable most of the year (outside the sweltering summer). The outside railing is attractively lined with flowers, herbs and plants used in the kitchen. The restaurant attracts locals and people like me just looking for an interesting menu with well curated dishes. All the pastas and sauces are made on site. The stand out for the evening was a swordfish special. A fairly hefty slab of swordfish with perfect grill marks on a bed of puréed beets suffused with pink peppercorns served with asparagus, carrots & other vegetables. The beets and carrots lent a touch of natural sweetness. The balance of salt, spice, vegetables and fish was inspired with the peppercorns adding another surprising layer. (Full disclosure here, I am not a fan of swordfish because it is usually overlooked and I can say I usually hate beets so for me to like this dish is a tough sell). We also ordered Mushroom Ricotto Ravioli which was sweeter than we expected but delivered layers of flavor. Our appetizer was Grilled Octopus. It was very good but was too mild for us, not bland, just mild. It needed a punch or two of flavor. To be fair, pepper mills are left on the tables. The service was extremely attentive and friendly without being cloying. One of the best eating experiences I've had in a long time.... (Tip: VH is crowded. If you can't find street parking, there is complimentary valet parking behind the restaurant off of N. Highland Ave NE.)

This restaurant is more up-scale Italian food. So if you are looking for a big plate of Ravioli, Lasagna and Spaghetti and Meatballs all in one menu you are better off looking for a more traditional Italian restaurant. Given that, the food is very good. Though I was not that fond of the Calamari(maybe I was looking for the more traditional Calamari). They have the menu broken into antipasti, primi, secondi and dessert. If you don't want to have all 4 courses, you can pick and choose as my friend and I did. We shared an appetizer and both had an item of the secondi part of the menu plus shared a cannoli dessert. The restaurant is in Virginia Highlands which is a very nice area to enjoy dinner. There is complimentary valet parking behind the restaurant, though the entrance is a bit tricky to find.
Classic Italian done well
My husband and came to Atlanta for long weekend and made a reservation for Saturday night. We are glad that we did because they are a small quaint place. The service was very good. Our server Jackie was very knowledgeable and helpful. The wine list was a little limited because they are getting a new wine list. Jackie helped chose a good bottle that was very affordable. Our appetizers and entrées were delicious. The meatballs were yummy. The bolognese was as good as I remembered. My husbands squid ink pasta had some nice flavors. The cheesecake was made with chèvre cheese and cherries.
