Award winning?

I struggle with if this is a three or four, I came because I specifically wanted Chicago Deep dish and the sign outside says it was voted best in Chicago. I'll start by saying my wife had a thin. crust and a bowl of Minestrone which she loved both. Now as to my experience, honestly I don't see what the hype would be about. Ive had all the heavy hitters, Uno, Ginos East, Lou Malnati's all except Giordano's and this was my least favorite. Why? First when a pizza hits the table it should be piping hot, mine was warm at best. Topping level really lacked, and sauce, you go to say Ginos and it's just loaded with sausage and sauce not so much here. I will say the cheese though, among the best of ANY pizza i've eaten and ive eaten pizza in Italy, NY, North Beach and here, top notch in that department. I didn't really dig my Sangria either not sweet with lots of flavor like i've had elsewhere. So ultimately when I return to Chicago I would not choose this place.

Great Italian Food

By 70flame70 |

Stopped for lunch while visiting Chicago at the Labriola restaurant. Very cool Italian restaurant. Outdoor seating and open indoor cafe, restaurant and wine bar. Started with Crispy Calamari, which were some of the best we've ever eaten. My husband had Minestrone Soup and the filet sliders. I enjoyed the special Waldorf salad. All dishes were fresh and large. Great lunch! Next time we'd like to try their pizzas. Our waiter, Cara, was also great.

Great food and service

By Sarahanne08 |

Glad we booked as the restaurant was so busy, which is a good sign. The food and service was so good. We couldn’t eat all the food so we’re able to take home the remaining food. Great atmosphere.

Awfull

By Carmine C |

I dont think o have had worse Italian food. A true tourist trap. 5 of is tried different entrees. The worst was the cacio de pepe! Watery, tasteless, no body, and not rven fresh ground pepper. Avoid this place

Generous portions & convivial vibes

By YY_Xie |

I ordered the Sizzling Shrimps to start and Richie's Lemon Chicken for mains. The shrimps were excellent, while the chicken was ok. My friend wanted to try both the Tagliatelle Bolognese & Chicken Parmesan, and the waiter offered to change the spaghetti that's served with the latter to the tagliatelle instead, which was good initiative on his part. Portions were generous. A very busy place - may be noisy to some, but I liked the convivial vibes.

Great

By GregC |

Wonderful food and service. Would definitely return. Had Danny skinny deep dish. Reasonable price considering right off Michigan

Avoid this place, at least server Marco.

By Just4DJ |

Worst service I have EVER received at any restaurant anywhere in the world. Marco’s attitude was terrible. Sat for 15 minutes before being acknowledged. 17 more to get our drinks. Brought the appetizers with no plates, silverware or napkins. Never asked if he could get us anything else (like more water which we obvisiously were out of). Manager was nice. The server at the table was awesome - guess we got a bad table. Oh and the pizza was burnt.

Avoid it … will mix your Order and will not be fixed. Manager Dionisio does not care

By Flytico |

We were excited to try Labriola. We sat down and the server was missing in action we were ok as we had time. Well eventually he showed up after about 28 minutes. He got our order and then disappeared again. I should’ve known by then to leave. Yet we were in a great mood and looking forward for a Chicago style Pizza. After one and a half hour we got out Pizza that clearly it was not pepperoni. See attached picture. At first we thought it was for the wrong table. However; the server was adamant that it was pepperoni. We didn’t want to eat it and then ask to see the manager Dionisio who assure us it was pepperoni and it was under the sauce. Well as u can see the picture it is not. We were not offered any other option and was asked to leave if we were not going to eat it. Really bad service and definitely do not recommended.

When in Chicago.....Deep Dish

By Osweg0 |

In town for a conference and enjoyed a very pleasant meal. Great atmosphere. Service was average but the food was very good. We each enjoyed our salads and then shared the Deep Dish Burrata and Basil pizza which was delicious but overwhelming (3 of us ate less than half of it. Great location and worth a visit.

We loved it!

By deuxbebes |

We were hopelessly stuck in traffic and unable to make our destination restaurant and our Uber driver suggested Labriola. It was the best part of our day. Our server, Luis, was so nice and the food was amazing. We did introduce the kids to deep dish pizza and ordered another to take home with us so we could relive the experience later in the week. It did take 4 zip bags to package it up and take on the flight but so well worth it. We will, without a doubt, return and ask for Luis again.

Great food, super staff, but service a little slow.

By MPP2703 |

We enjoyed this place so visited twice. The first out of choice, the second because Lou Malnati's was so rubbish for getting us seated, we do like to try as many places as possible. However the bonus of this place, both times we visited at lunch we were almost immediately seated. On both visits my wife went for a Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, $9, good value, minestrone bowl, $6, Caesar salad, $11 and fires, $8. On our first visit the fries that came to the table were cold, but was sorted very quickly. I slighted amended my order first time Half Acre Pony pils and second time Peroni, both $7. First time I went with the skinny deep dish pizza and the second the 12" thin crust. The skinny deep dish was good, really full of sauce. The thin crust was somewhat of a let down, too crunchy on the base rather than the soft italian pizzas. Service was a little slow, but the place was very busy and it was evident that food took time to cook. Staff are great, but most of all great value. Highly recommended.

Buona pizza a Chicago

By SaveDP |

This pizza is not as good as the original one in Italy (in Naples) but it is still good: it seems more like the one you get at Pizza Hut in Piccadilly Circus (London), because it is made with an electric oven and is tall. The prices are too high for a simple pizza. The waiter Ramon (Mexican) very kind. Cameriere Ramon (messicano) molto gentile.

Great beer and pizza!

By Lulalisa |

The pizza was excellent—crust was crisp and not too thick and held the delicious toppings—sausage and mushrooms. The filet sliders were delicious. Great beer too.

Popular with the younger working crowd

By susanne lenz l |

My husband and I stopped by Labriola after a lecture at the Chicago Architecture Foundation hoping for some good Italian food. We both ordered their lasagna which to my surprise had neither meat nor vegetables in the making. It was like eating a deep dish pizza..lots of cheese, noodles and some tomato sauce: $19 per person..and we each took half of it home. It wasn’t like any lasagna we had ever had. Service was excellent, we were seated quickly.

BOGO on Monday's

By Sean S |

My family and I ate dinner here and we all enjoyed our meals, spaghetti and meatballs and cheese tortellini. The garlic knots were incredible too. Although we did not get the pizza, it did look real good. BOGO on Mondays too.

Disappointed. Not Great.

By Kristen A |

This was a really weird place to dine. We had a reservation on a Friday night and were seated promptly. The restaurant was full. The wait staff checked in immediately just as we were seated and told us entrees were at least 45 minutes out and asked if we knew what we wanted. We quick looked at the menu and ordered wine and calamari. He returned in about five minutes with our order and asked if we had decided on entrees. We ordered tortellini and eggplant parm. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. So, the food: it wasn't really fresh tasting. The calamari was chewy. Our entrees weren't hot and tasted like they had been prepared early and sat under a heat lamp. They were both really salty. I didn't finish mine, my 17 yo finished his but agreed it was too salty. Before I had even finished my wine they brought the bill and asked if we needed anything else. We didn't so we left. We sat down at 6:30 and left at 6:58. It wasn't the dining experience I hoped for or prefer. There was an air of urgency and rush to the entire experience, like we were gulping everything down and rushed out the door. I felt like they wanted us in and out as quickly as possible. Atmosphere: Loud. Takeaway: We won't go back, or recommend.

Best Crust in Town

By abroadwithashley |

We opted for Labriola over the other (more famous) competing deep dish pizza places. We did this for exactly one reason: the bread. Considering they have a bakery history; the crust is incredible. There are more authentic options for deep dish in Chicago, but none with a better crust. One note: the pizza is absolutely huge, and we couldn’t finish it with even two hungery people going at it. Highly recommended and make sure to come with a reservation.

Delighted! Bottomless Mimosas and Lunch for 8

By Kendra S |

In our 3 day trip my husband and I went here twice! Completely unusual for us. We wanted a beverage and light meal after a morning of walking and before the River Architecture tour (convenient location). I couldn't resist the Autumn Cranberry Mule - delish, made with a ginger shrub, so true ginger kick. We split the calamari appetizer, loved that each had our own container of marinara and a cheesecloth wrapped half lemon. Excellent team service dynamic, especially from the manager on duty, Billy. He let us know about the Saturday and Sunday bottomless mimosa weekend brunch special and their Farmer's Market on Saturday. We told him we were in Chicago to meet up with friends for a surprise proposal the next day and we were definitely a mimosa crowd. He gave me his card - after consulting the group the next morning, I texted for reservations for 8. They made the post proposal celebration wonderful! Our group included a Chef, a cruise line officer and two people with Restaurant Management degrees and 6 with extensive international travel experience. All were very happy. Highlights - melt in your mouth braciole with cheesy polenta, PEI Mussels with wine sauce (mussels perfectly done and everyone was dipping bread in the leftover sauce) and OMG garlic knots. We also took items from the Farmers Market back to our Air BnB - the potato chips were fantastic, as were the croutons (eaten just out of the bag!) and heavenly chocolate and almond croissants. Will absolutely return the next time we are in Chicago.

Excellent food !!

By Therese W |

Amazing food !! Meatballs amazing and pizza excellent !The host ,staff ,and bus boy just amazing. Very tentative to everything even mgr , they refilled drinks got more bread etc, which leaves me to say the waitress didn’t do her job they did it for her. But their service and food makes me definitely want to come back again. You won’t be disappointed !!

Great experience: delicious pasta, well-run restaurant

By Michelle |

This place is great! It's extremely busy, so definitely make a reservation. We heard walk-ins being told there were no openings for 4 hours. I felt really sorry for the host, who was bombarded by a continuous stream of people asking to get in, but he handled it very efficiently and professionally. Despite being a total madhouse in terms of busyness, the place is a well-oiled machine. The servers were all very efficient and you can tell that everyone has their role and knows when to carry it out. Other restaurants should take lessons in operations from this place. We both had pasta and it was delicious - very authentic-tasting. I will definitely be going back and may try the pizza next time.

Okay Italian

By Ron R |

We were looking for another restaurant that must have closed. We gave this place whirl. The service and atmosphere is excellent. The food could be better.

Waitress essentially forced us to tip her. So weird.

By Matthew H |

Food was solid, but we had the most odd experience with our waitress. While she forgot a few things and we had to flag her down, it was the checkout payment process that was a bit offensive, which we've never experienced; she handed us the device where you usually enter your tip and sign. Instead, she preselected a 22% tip and already had the signature screen up highlighted and she tossed out, "just sign". My wife said the look on her face translated to ,"I dare you to do anything but just sign the thing." I have not read any other reviews so maybe this is the only one like it, and we just experienced one bad apple. I love to tip well even for marginal service but found this to be really offensive

Hmmm, it was okay.

By Gary S |

I love Italian food but this place was a slight 'miss'. The service was just okay. When we did interact with our server, he was pleasant and accommodating. We just didn't see him often. The food was average. It was tasty. I'm more of a "Mom and Pop" Italian food kind of guy. This was like a tiny step up from Olive Garden.

Deep dish delight and perfect steak

By tryingtohelp |

We visited here to try authentic Chicago deep pan pizza pie and weren’t disappointed. Fluffy crisp crust filled with fresh tomato sauce, with russo sausage and lots of cheese (served by folk wearing ‘legalise marinara’ Ts). The smallest pie easily serves 2 to 3 people so we took about half home. Rookie error, one of us decided it would be a good idea to order a steak as well. It was one of the best steaks ever, with lots of delicious fries, and garlic mayo, perfect but not really needed. The place is always super busy, with a line outside, so best to book in advance. Good selection of cocktails and beers. It is super noisy in here so maybe not so great for a romantic meal.

Deep Pan Pizza Heaven

By AlphaDelta2912 |

Booked a table for 4 for evening dinner. Stupidly ordered starters then 2x pizzas to share. One deep pan and one thin and crispy. Both delicious but literally only managed half of the deep pan between us. Deliciously cheesy but hugely filling. Literally. Excellent service too.

Hidden gem, you must try!

By lotsahalls |

My husband and I found this place on our trip during the summertime. Naturally, we brought the family back for our Christmas trip. It was not on the recommendation list for deep dish, but why? The pizza is AMAZING! I One might say better than some more known names. The garlic knots are seriously delicious. Flaky like a crossiant. The price, the quality, the service, the atmosphere exceeded my family's expectation. Keep an eye out though it's a little bit off the beaten path of the mile. You won't be disappointed.

Happy hour, happy me!!

By Robert W |

The happy hour offerings are spectacular! We had the half price champagne by the bottle. It was excellent! Then, we ordered the tart cherry sangria. We used the skewered cherries in our champagne, WOW! Fried cauliflower bites and a meatball slider were delicious and also on the happy hour menu. We ordered a skinny deep dish pizza. The reason it is considered "skinny" is that it is made with half the crust of the deep dish regular pizza. The service was excellent. We met a manager who came by to be sure that everything was delicious!

Love deep dish!

By SamanthaStrange |

Went twice, got the traditional pepperoni and next time got the burrata and basil! Both times were sooo good! Love the crust! They daid 30-40 minutes for the pizza, but took about 20-25 each time. Both times they were slammed as well! Make a reservation as waits were 45 minutes.

Try and eat a whole pizza yourself

By helenandpaul13 |

Came here for some deep pan pizza. We sat outside and watched the world go by. It took about half an hour to cook and the trick is not to order anything with it as its so thick that you can not eat the extras and you will have to take it home with you. We had pepperoni and onions with meatballs with a couple of drinks while we waited. The pizza was lovely and two of us could not eat a whole one. Bill came to about $50 and we had to take a quarter of it away with us. Really lovely place to eat though and the staff and service were great.

Friday night eats

By Twinsmom99 |

We love Labriola bread so we thought we’d try the restaurant. Had the Caesar salad, vodka sauce with ricotta, gnocchi, and chicken with bacon deep dish. Pretty good food! Not the best I’ve had in the city but worth trying.

Stopped for Happy Hour

By lbr0gan |

Quaint restaurant and bar. Stopped in at happy hour on Friday. Bar area is nice with nice woodwork. They serve you complimentary thin crust pizza during happy hour. Down side was that it filled us up so we went back for lunch the next day. We ordered lasagne and chicken alfredo. Both were delicious. Locals recommended the deep dish too. Highly recommend.

Excellent food. Extremely excellent service!

By squish651 |

The other reviews are spot on about the food. Super good. I want to also point out that our server, Ikechi, was great! He made great recommendations for food choice/portions and was very attentive.

Deep Dish Pizza - No!

By 401jun |

The deep-dish pizza was half focaccia bread. It did not have the plentitude of toppings or cheese that I expected. Do not order the deep-dish pizza here. Choose another meal on the menu.

Disappointing !!

By Cambridgepoint |

We ordered online for pickup. The food was not ready at the time we requested and had an additional wait of 15 minutes The food was ok, not good just ok. We had ordered a seafood salad that was not a $20 salad, two shrimp, some squid and octopus The rest of the food was average. Not worth a return visit

Romantic Lunch

By Brandi N |

This establishment is true authentic Italian good at it’s best. We were referred to the establishment by the owner himself and wanted to try it out. This place has an incredible pizza the Best in Chicago! Vanessa our waitress was so down to earth and friendly and full of smiles. We had bottomless mimosas and enjoyed Danny’s special thin crust which was amazing. George the manager checked in on us quite often and kept a smile on his face. We want this establishment in Texas real soon. Bring George to Austin, Tx to open up a location much business to be gained. Thank you for your hospitality and excellent customer service.

Better than Giordano’s

By Johnnymojo |

Stopped here for lunch our third day in chi city, on the verge of extreme hanger (our original choice was closed for lunch—not-so-great planning on my part), grabbed an outside table. Great service, the mini burgers were served lightning fast, we ordered a medium deep dish. Couldn’t stop eating it, it was so good. Airy, lots of cheese, (corn meal on the bottom?). Absolute yum.

Going Skinny from now on!

By DocDeb911 |

Recommended by a Chicago tour guide. Hit the spot! Lively setting, great service, delicious salads and pizza. The Chicago thin may be the best pizza we’ve ever had! The Danny special was wonderful. A Chicago Skinny was also devoured. Best Chicago pizza at Labriolas!

Great Restaurant just off the mile. Worth a visit.

By Frances |

Popped in here for a quick drink & snack before we headed back to the airport. Large Restaurant with great atmosphere. Outside seating on a nice day but it was raining for us. Extremely friendly staff, helpful. Good choice of Snacks, Pasta, Various types of Pizza. We chose the very thin one which was well covered & crispy. 12 in. Was more than enough for 2 as a snack. Reasonably priced.

Not bad

By dispatchergurl |

It wasn’t bad. It was just underwhelming. We had pasta and pizza. I’m sure there are more authentic places in Chicago for those things. It was close to the hotel and good enough.

Good, but walk a few more blocks to Volare

By Stephen S |

This is not a five star experience like Volare, which is just a few blocks away. It is more of an Olive Garden experience, which is great. The Asparagus Risotto was savory, but the Chicken Parmesan was not as good. Solid, just not superb. The portion was huge. It could probably feed two people easily. The waiter was very busy, and did not check on us, and was a tad bit brisk when answering our questions. With so many awesome restaurants, we probably won’t be returning to this one.

Meh....food ok; service needs improvement

By JFair36900 |

The food was average at best. The service started out good; my server came by quickly and took my order. He, was initially attentive....brought my drink quickly, refilled my water, etc. I placed my food order at the same time I placed my drink order; my drink arrived in minutes, however, 45 minutes later my food had not arrived. The server only came by twice (after looking at my obviously displeased expression) to say it was coming right out. I finally got up to tell the hostess I was leaving and needed the bill for my drink but still no one came to my table. If I had been a different type of person, I could have walked the bill because no one was paying attention. The food arrives a full 10 minutes later (55 minutes after ordering) ; the server did apologize for the delay, admit that it was unacceptable and offered to comp my bill. I really wanted to like this place but....

Mmmmm pizza

By Joshua F |

Wasn't sure I could eat an entire deep dish pizza. Their "skinny deep dish" was perfect. It had the deep edges covered in crispy cheese and a normal under crust.

A brilliant choice for pizza lovers in Chicago

By GRAHAM C |

Celebrated my brother's 76th birthday here with friends on recommendation from our courier. A brilliant choice, great food and drink ( pizzas, ice cream, sodas and beer on tap) at very reasonable prices. An excellent meal. Sat outside. Very friendly and professional staff. Good location. Just superb. Thoroughly recommended.

Huge deep dish

By Luvsviolet |

The deep dish pizza was great and one 12" pie can feed three people! Service was quick and courteous.

Beware!

By Qbtrav |

Worst meal ever! First pizzas arrived before starters. For showered with glass breaking and to top it off found a finger nail in my pizza!

Great Italian Restaurant

By aschoono |

We were staying at the International and looking for a place to eat. Labriola was next door and Italian sounded good so we decided to check it out. The place as packed but with just two of us we were sat right away. The place was very loud but we were served right away. The food was excellent. We shared the stacciatella to start, which was kind of like an Italian charcuterie board. It was very good. I ordered the Richie’s Lemon Chicken and my wife got a salad. The portions were huge and the lemon chicken was amazing. It was so moist and flavorful. I can’t wait to go back and get it again.

Pizza Perfection at Labriola Ristorante

By Raymond Gonzales |

Labriola Ristorante in downtown Chicago on 535 N Michigan Ave has the best pizza in Chicago. Me saying that means a lot because I love Chicago pizza. I was genuinely impressed by the warm welcome as soon as we walked in. The restaurant is located in Streeterville, known for good bars and restaurants, but more importantly, the location is within walking distance to everything. We ate in the private dining room where we made pizza, ordered pizza, and had a selection of amazing appetizers and desserts. I was absolutely blown away by the service, the quality, and most of all the taste of the food. The chef even stopped by to share stories behind the signature dishes which made the evening feel extra special. I can’t wait to try their other dishes on my next visit to Chicago.

Best Pizza

By Diego Eugenio C |

Delicious pizza. With delicious and fresh ingredients; with an unparalleled taste makes it different and exquisite. Excellent service and very good organization

Great pizza!

By Rocsmom0304 |

Excellent deep dish! My daughter had ravioli and that wasn’t anything special, nothing terrible about it, but not delicious like the pizza! Our service was good, the patio was perfect and we will return!

5 star service and deep dish

By samantha |

This is a nice restaurant with wonderful service and food. We were there the evening before the Chicago Marathon and it was BUSY! I had a reservation and we were seated on time. Our server Raul was fantastic and explained that the kitchen was very busy and our food might take 30-40min. They was no problem for us and we appreciated the heads up. Our food was out within 30 min. Delicious deep dish pizza and house lager! We will be back next time we are in Chicago!

Great Atmosphere

By rebelee |

Great atmosphere on a Sunday evening. The place felt alive, service was great and friendly. Steak Frites and Filet Sliders were excellent. My daughter had a gluten free pizza and said it was the best she has had yet in Chicago…better than Malnati’s.

One of the best meals of the holiday

By Elain H |

A que is normally a good sign the food is by, we booked a table for dinner and so glad we did, when we went back the que was very long. We shared calamari with marinara sauce….DEVINE! I had a thin crust pepperoni pizza, hubby had the meatballs….once again DEVINE … couldn’t eat all of the pizza so took the rest with us… staff very good. It was a great find and highly recommend.

Great Food and Service

By lisa renee |

I ate dinner here on November 16, Thursday - Pear Salad was very fresh and tasteful - waiter was excellent - I have a lot of food sensitivities and he took time answering my questions about items on the menu - restaurant very clean and in a very nice area! I visit Chicago many times and will return to this restaurant...

Good tavern-style pepperoni pizza

By Brad 🇭🇰 |

Labriola is an Italian restaurant on N. Michigan Ave. that we dined at during a recent visit to Chicago. Stopped by early evening and found the place rather full up with indoor patrons but they were able to give us a small table for two near the bar. There is outdoor seating as well, which will be nice when there is warmer weather. Opening hours are 11am to 9pm (weekdays) and 10am to 10pm (weekends). They have a menu with a wide range of traditional Italian dishes including local style deep dish and tavern-style thin crust pizzas. On the evening, we shared a Pepperoni thin-crust with added jalapenos and found the pizza to be very good. Nicely baked, sliced crosswise, good quality ingredients made for a really enjoyable pizza to enjoy as a couple along with a glass of red and good Old Fashioned. This was a quality pizza that we enjoyed. Would be happy to return for another round the next time we are in Chicago.

The garlic knot is out of this world

By Gail King |

The cocktails (espresso martinis & old fashioned), service & food were amazing. This restaurant is the perfect place to try the traditional deep pan pizza. Central location, great, efficient service & the food was delicious

Excellent Carryout on Parade Night

By Brad S |

We were on the Mag Mile along with several hundred thousand friends for the lighting parade. Instead of trying to get into a restaurant, we ordered carryout from Labriola and despite the restaurant being bombed, the quality and taste were excellent. The Italian Wedding Cake is not to be missed.

Excellent service but disappointed with the overpriced food

By Tim H |

This was one of two restaurants that we visited during our 4-day stay. THE OTHER ONE we returned to for a total of three visits! Maybe we were unlucky with our food choices at Labriola, for while the service was excellent, the food was disappointing compared with our other venue in Downtown Chicago. We had two salads for starters (a load of rocket with a good dressing, plus a tiny amount of goats cheese and a few slivers of pear, hardly worth noting), followed by a couple of dishes of pasta with fairly straightforward sauces. The bill, with just one beer, came to $115 + tip … which seemed excessive for what we had. I normally say that, “you get what you pay for” … but this was NOT good value. If you wish, you can check out my profile for my other Chicago review!!

Nah

By MGaft |

A little overpriced for the portions. Wanted to try deep dish pizza but the don’t sell it by slice, and one small for $25 is just too much. Mediocre service. Would not recommend

Excellent Deep Dish Pizza

By doublek229 |

We were walking around and saw this restaurant. We were specifically looking for Deep Dish Pizza since that is what Chicago is known for. We saw it on the menu and the place looked nice so we decided we would come back at dinner time. We went at about 5:45 and were able to get a table right away. Service was very good, and the deep-dish pizza was Excellent!!! We tried the one with sausage. we ordered the 12" pizza and could barely finish half of it because we each had an additional entree as well. Son had Penne ala Vodka which he liked. Wife had grilled Calamari which she said was excellent. I ordered a burger which was excellent as well! The pizza was so good that we went back the following day (same time, no line) so we could experience the pizza again as a main meal this time and once again, it was fantastic! It was the best deep-dish pizza we ever had! We did not eat anywhere else in Chicago to compare it to but have had it on the east coast where we live several times. Warning that this restaurant gets extremely crowded after six. Both evenings, we finished eating around 7 and there were about 30-40 people outside waiting for tables, so make a reservation or go early! We highly recommend!

Underwhelming

By NTPtraveler |

We’re local to Chicago and have heard good things and decided to try it. Most restaurants off Michigan Ave are tourist traps and this is no different. The moment we walked in we knew it wasn’t going to be great — but it was snowing and cold so we decided to to stay. The ambiance was bright and loud. There’s a donut shop that’s in the entryway. It’s just strange. The cocktails were watery and the wine list was extremely limited for an Italian restaurant. The food menu had great options in theory, we ordered appetizer, salad and entrees. Nothing that came out of the kitchen was better than average. Flavors were underwhelming, everything was drenched in marinara sauces and just wasn’t good. The fried zucchini lacked flavor and most of the pieces were stuck together and drenched in left over frying grease. The pear salad was ok but only had 2 little pieces of pear and microscopic crumbled goat cheese. For entree, we asked if the chicken parm was pan fried or deep fried and the waitress said pan friend, but when it came out it was most definitely deep fried with a thick coating of breading wallowing in flavorless marinara. To us it was inedible. The 8 finger cavetelli was so Al Dente it turned to paste when you were trying to chew it and the vodka sauce was the consistency of soup. It was extremely underwhelming and bland. The table next to ours had the Chicago style pizza and I can assure you nothing about that pizza was Chicago. We asked how it tasted and the couple said it was flavorless. This spot is clearly aimed towards non locals and tourists with a goal to churn out food as fast as possible to flip tables. I don’t know - maybe it was an off night? Chicago is known for amazing cuisine — especially Italian! Do yourself a flavor, avoid disappointment and spend your hard earned money elsewhere at a quality Italian spot.

Great deep pan pizza!

By Ditte P |

We got a really good Chicago deep pan pizza. You get a lot for the points. It is a cosy place with service mindedness and polite service.

Nice Spot

By Brr4346AD |

Food and service was very good. Salmon was very good with lemon butter sauce. The homemade limoncello was outstanding, some of the best I have had.

Disappointing Italian Experience in Chicago

By FAV |

For lunch i chose this Italian restaurant with a decent overall rating, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to expectations. We started with a few appetizers — the fried mozzarella was oily and heavy, and honestly didn’t taste like mozzarella at all. The fried zucchini looked and tasted more like fried eggplant. For the main course, I had bucatini cacio e pepe with shrimp, but the pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy. The dish had almost no pepper, no flavor, and came almost without Parmesan. When I asked for Parmesan, salt, pepper, and some olive oil, they brought a mix of grated cheese that sort of resembled Parmesan and some thin slices that definitely weren’t it. To their credit, they did bring some peperoncino without me asking, which I appreciated to put in the olive oil, to try not to feel the pasta taste. Anyways the olive oil itself wasn’t great. Overall, not an impressive experience — barely a 2 out of 5.

Average Experience

By Racefan2016 |

We had high expectations. This place had excellent reviews, a personal recommendation from a local family member and a reasonable menu given its location feet away from the magnificent mile. The garlic knots appetizer was wonderful. The pastas were average at best for us (tortellini, fettuccine and penne dishes). For dessert the gelato was nice, but the tiramisu was not what any of us were used to eating. It was very sweet. We are happy to have tried this place, but probably will try something different on our next trip to the area.

Nice but also slightly underwhelming

By melb1710 |

It was my first time in Chicago and in the US so I was quite excited to have my first real US restaurant experience. The atmosphere was quite friendly and warm on a winters night. The service was incredibly attentive and prompt. I was slightly underwhelmed by the food and the taste felt slightly processed. Would be keen to come back and try other items on the menu as they claim to have the best deep dish in Chicago.

Great chicken parm

By O skyes |

Had the chicken parm with red sauce and fettuccine with white sauce per the waitresses recommendation. It was very good. Large portion of chicken.

Meet and Eat

By Julie V |

I drove down from Milwaukee to Chicago to see my relatives who drove up from NYC. We all ate a delicious dinner at Labriola, albeit a bit over-priced, though the wonderful waitstaff was courteous and food was brought out in a timely manner. The generous portions were noticeable and the whole family ate well that night. Of course, Jimmy said the sauce in his deep dish pizza wasn't as great as NY's but it was good. My super scrumptious 'seafood spaghetti' was delivered in a big bowl though a bit over-priced, but otherwise, the restaurant was an excellent choice.

Chicago Pizza

By jmarlow74 |

I had to get some good deep dish Chicago pizza and this place delivered. The sauce was out of this world and the crust was perfect. I just had a plain pepperoni pizza also so I didn’t even get into the crazy stuff. It was really good.

Beware

By frankQ7437JT |

Went here for dinner with my family last night. While we were eating the host left the entrance unattended allowing two people to seat themselves at the table behind us and promptly reach into my wife’s purse and steal her wallet. Night ruined! You expect some level of security when going to a restaurant of this caliber not people from off the street allowed to walk in and do as they please. If I wanted that I’d go to a fast food place. In the aftermath of the robbery the staff admitted that this has happened to them before. I guess not enough for them to care about providing the bare minimum of protection for their customers. I guess Michigan Ave prices don’t buy you a safe environment.

Nowhere near Chi's best

By L H |

For the exorbitant price, the food falls below average, especially in a city with excellent restaurants/known for pizza. The deep dish pizza is mostly run-of-the-mill dough, not enough sauce. The gnocchi are also very doughy, the sauce bland. Over $60 for those two items; an hour for delivery on a weeknight.

Excellent

By DGoNYC |

very nice space, not overly decorated, but comfortable and inviting. I appreciate both New York - style thin crust pizza and Chicago deep-dish and stuffed - style pizzas, but generally prefer the New York style. Seeing the 'skinny deep dish' option on the menu, I was compelled to try it, and it was outstanding. So good that though I would want to experiment with the other varieties on the menu, I might never order anything else.

Very disappointing....

By SmallTownIAGirl |

We were seated promptly for our reservation, and our server soon stopped by for our drink order. Before drinks arrived, he came back to take our food order. As we waited for our food and drinks, we noticed that the tables around us had bread. Since we'd been sitting at the table for at least 15 minutes at that point, we thought that we'd need to order bread if we wanted that before our meal. On his way past, we caught our server and put in a request for garlic knots. They came very quickly....and then shortly after that our drinks and the "free" bread came (roughly 20 - 25 minutes in). While the garlic knots were delicious, we wouldn't have ordered them if we'd received the bread earlier. When the food came, we were less than impressed. I order the chicken vesuvio, which came out as two thick chicken breasts drowning in a lake of chicken broth with floating, overcooked peas. One of my dining companions had ordered a salad with a special request to not include a few ingredients. The salad was huge, but his request to not include certain ingredients was ignored. My other dining companions said their meals were OK but nothing to rave about. In the end, we won't go back. Our bill for a family of 4 was well over $100 (we didn't order anything beyond soda and didn't order desserts). It doesn't seem like a good value for the price, and the food was not that great.

Wonderful

By sdavidson007 |

We stopped in for a drink at the bar and we were pleasantly surprised!! We sat at the bar and had wonderful service! I had their holiday old fashion and it was wonderful! We got the bruschetta and loved it! We are so impressed we might come back tomorrow for their famous pizza!!

Delicious Restaurant with lots of price options on Mag Mile

By Barb |

We ate here twice. Once we had traditional deep dish Chicago pizza with a few appetizers and the second time we did take out of just sides. It was DELICIOUS, and the service was friendly and great. Every single person who greeted and or served us was kind, friendly and helpful without even being asked. They have the option of eating outside if you don't have a reservation, and honestly that was quick and suited us just fine. It was much quieter outside. Inside is LOUD. The server also let us know when we chose something that was probably too large for our party. I told our server that this trip was a gift for a big birthday coming up for my husband, and while my husband waved away getting anything special, the server asked me privately when he caught me without my husband, and I told him to go ahead as long as there was no singing. They comped us gelato, and it was AMAZING. Sorry I missed the server's name! It was a kind young man with tattoos on 8/9. The strawberry is particularly delicious. The pizza was so fresh and yummy. Every ingredient felt like quality. The salads were all fresh, wonderful ingredients. Later for take out the next night, we looked at the side dishes and saw that they weren't so huge and were probably exactly what we wanted! Our son got a side of pasta with vodka sauce, and OMG every single bit of that was quality and delicious. He said it was the best pasta he ever had. Then I ordered a side of extra Pecorino Romano cheese and OMG. That's all I can say about that. What we didn't put on our food, we ate directly from the container. One his pasta was gone, my son then poured some cheese into the remaining sauce just to spoon it into his mouth. How often does that happen? I ordered just a side of grilled chicken and grilled asparagus, and the flavors were so absolutely heavenly. It was perfect and just the right amount of food.

Too loud! ◉(◉

By BABAS76000 |

On a Friday night for dinner, crowded restaurant and very noisy....too much to spend a good evening.... Fast service, decent dishes, but only a desire: finish your plate and get out of there... too bad! Despite any nice place for decoration, many tables available but be careful at the time of your arrival because depending on the filling rate of the establishment you may have earache. I advise against a quiet romantic meal, a good place to go with party friends!

THE Deep Dish You Need to Try

By Tabbi C |

Couldn’t have been better, the deep dish pizza was the best I’ve tried so far and put the most popular pizzerias in Chicago to shame. We were super disappointed with the more popular places in Chicago. This one was amazing! We also got the fettuccini Alfredo, spaghetti and meatballs, the garlic knots, and the bruschetta. Recommend ALL highly.

Great food and location!

By Megan D |

Great experience before heading to a concert. Good selection on menu and nice lively atmosphere. We tried the fried zucchini, chicken parm and lemon chicken. All great and huge portions. The lemoncello slushees are good but strong!

Magnifico!....Great Location and Super Friendly Staff

By Tourist39376761557 |

From the moment my daughter and I walked in, it felt like a comfortable and welcoming environment. We were visiting from out of town and wanted a deep dish pizza. The Danny special and the basil buratta was outstanding! Lexi and Christian were amazing and spoke with us as if we were family. We loved that!! We will absolutely be back and you should go too!!

Valentine Lunch

By 8welltoday |

No business is perfect so when a mistake is made I judge them by how they deal with an error. We made reservations a month in advance and were seated promptly as scheduled. I still don't know if our order was placed wrong or if it did not get placed in a timely manner. The manager was walking through the dining room checking on all of the patrons and stopped by our table to ask how we were doing. I did not complain but simply pointed out our situation and the tight timeline we were on. He immediately offered "something" to snack while we were waiting. In no time at all we were treated to delicious garlic knots and the best calamari I have ever eaten. The deep dish pizza we ordered arrived soon after and it ranked up there with the best in Chicago as expected from the articles we researched prior to our trip. Scott Berry is a fantastic general manager and went the extra mile to make sure our dining experience was enjoyable. We will be sure to stop in again.

The hometown boy makes good

By Taylor B |

As soon as I saw the name, Labriola, I wondered if it was related to the family I knew in my hometown of Blue Island, a Chicago suburb. Sure enough. Rich Labriola was born and raised in Blue Island and graduated from my alma mater, Eisenhower High School, or Blue Island Community High School as it was known when I graduated in 1958. Rich started as a bread maker, opened his own bakery in Alsip in 1993 and opened Labriola at 535 North Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago in 2014. Today, he owns four restaurants and six Stan's Donuts locations. And Labriola's version of spaghetti and meatballs is one of the best in the city. Open from 11 to 9 Sunday through Thursday, 11 to 10 on Friday and 11 to 11 on Saturday, conveniently located for downtown shoppers between Ohio and Grand in the River East neighborhood, Labriola features a dining room, bar, outdoor seating and a counter-serve cafe. It specializes in deep dish and thin crust pizza, toasted ravioli and, of course, spaghetti and meatballs. With marinara, pecorino and basil and served with Labriola's garlic bread and grilled asparagus. My wife chose chicken parmesan with chicken breast, spaghetti, marinara, mozzarella and charred broccoli. We started with bruschetta with heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, balsamic, shaved parmesan and crostini, a bowl of house-made minestrone, three house-made meatballs with marinara, creamy polenta and pecorino and Caesar salad with Romaine hearts, pecorino, lemon, Caesar dressing, Labriola croutons and chicken breast. For dessert, we were wooed by tiramisu and butterscotch Budino with creamy butterscotch pudding, white chocolate whipped cream and hazelnut cookie crumble. Local boy makes good. And how.

Excellent Chicago Thin Crust Pizza

By keithflow |

We went here for lunch after a morning of shopping. We were seated immediately and a very attentive server took our drink orders. I ordered the thin crust pizza and friend ordered the steak sliders. I also ordered a Caesar salad. Salad was a amazing! Both entrees were excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Wonderful dinner!

By Michelle M |

We visit Chicago twice a year but this is the 1st time we've eaten here. We had been searching for good food that was reasonably priced and centrally located. What a find! My lemon chicken was amazing. My guy said his chicken parm was the same. Large portions and wonderful service topped off the experience.

Great food, great service

By Erin B |

We had a group of 12 for dinner on a Friday night. The server was excellent and so attentive. The pizza was great - we got a deep dish and a thin crust for the table, plus entrees. So much food!!! Everyone was happy, even the picky eaters.

By Manish Khanna |

An 'alternate' to the 2 big guys of the deep dish world. Labriola was a great change. Full service menu and their pizzas. Loved both the pizza's. The crust was not as thick as the deep dishes. The tomato sauce was incredible. We loved the did starter. Soft, and excellent taste with the peppers etc. Service was prompt and efficient. WIll most definitely be back there to try the pastas etc. (Oh by the way, they have YUGE space inside!!! Many covers when it gets busy)

Average at best…

By peabodymac |

Very disappointed- very average. Was so much better pre Pandemic. Portions were relatively plentiful but taste was institutional at best.Ordered a salad which had all to auto bottoms. Showed this out to the server who took the tomatoes back and said he would alert the kitchen—- no new tomatoes were ever substituted?? Also had a chicken dish which was very average. So Yes customer service is lacking. Conclusion- very average food at best. Perhaps we should have stuck to pizzas which used to be quite good pre-pandemic. Comfortable restaurant as far as seating and noise level although happy hour menu is only valid if you sit at the bar.?

Good food. Bad service.

By J Choe |

The food is really good. However the service is terrible. Pizza, pasta, and calamari were really good. The distant, no eye contact, non drink refilling, not fulfilling our order, non caring server was ridiculous. What a shame.

Try Chicago Pizza Deep Dish

By 旅楽し |

On our first night in Chicago, we went out for Chicago food. I ordered salad, zucchini frit and a special deep dish. It was my first time eating a zucchini fritt, but it was delicious!︎Be careful not to eat too lightly and crisply. Deep dish after salad! Big. Thick. Plenty of cheese and toppings! It's too good, but there's just too much of it. I couldn't eat it and took it home for breakfast the next day. It was delicious even when it was cold.

Not for me...

By Rachel F |

Was so excited to try this restaurant when visiting Chicago, and it just wasn't very good. The meatballs were terrible, no exaggeration. They were coarse, not tender or seasoned well. And spaghetti was not very good, nor seasoned well, and no cheese. It was cooked al dente perfectly. The restaurant was so loud I couldn't hear anything that was being said! We also had the vodka penne which was delicious, seasoned perfectly, and great sauce, cheese. The garlic knots were light on garlic, and amazing buttery, large rolls. They charged $1 for a side of marinara (aprx 1/4 cup) without asking, but it was great sauce- perfect. The water refills were constant, and support staff incl mgrs and bussers, were excellent. The drink I ordered was very good but not $16 good in my opinion, and we ear out a lot. Overall, it was an ok night out. But if I had to do it all over again, we would have gotten the deep dish pizza. It looked good at tables, and looking back at reviews, people seemed happy with it. Or we would have gone somewhere else. Giving it 3 stars bc it just wasn't great.

Huge restaurant with decent atmosphere and great food

By stevebintley |

Left very impressed with this Italian restaurant. It looks traditional from the outside but it’s truly huge inside - we were seated in the rear section and couldn’t believe how the tables just kept going. Despite the scale, although a little slow to begin with, the service was friendly and efficient. The decor is cosy and authentic and it was nice to see a mix of locals as well as tourists. The menu was a good size with the traditional Italian dishes you would expect. The thin crust pizza was absolutely delicious and there was a good number of prawns in the pasta dish too. While the cheesecake was rather dense it rounded off the meal well and the espresso martini was spot on. With the really cosy decor and nice atmosphere I’d certainly recommend and it’s a great choice in the area for a proper Italian meal.

Good moment good pizza nice skinny deep dish pizza.

By Eric B |

Good pizzas. Nice moment. Skinny deep dish is a good intermediate betw thin and thick pan. We liked it. One 12 inch a little large for one person so we skipped dessert. After nice fried calamari

Italian meals at a popular spot on Michigan Avenue.

By Bill T |

Got a great discount, so we decided to go here for dinner. We had stopped years ago for their happy hour, which was great so we had high hopes. Unfortunately this didn’t meet our expectations. It wasn’t terrible. It was average - hence the three star rating. The food had one highlight- the baked goat cheese appetizer, which we really enjoyed. The eggplant Parmesan was minimal. It was thin with mostly breading. The linguine fra diavolo was complete with some well done shrimp, clams, and calamari, but the sauce was just ok as was the pasta. We enjoyed the gin martinis and the wine. The service was fine, but the hard surfaces in the front dining room coupled with a fairly large crowd made it difficult to hear your dining partner unless you were speaking loudly. So three stars. Maybe the next time we go we order the pizza, which is their specialty. Check it out because we’ll try it again too.

Excellent deep dish pizza

By casilva54 |

Researched authentic deep dish for our first trip to Chicago and chose Labriola based on reviews, rankings and location. Popular authentic Italian spot just off the Magnificent Mile. Enjoyed salads, chianti, beer and a sausage, onion, green pepper 12" deep dish (and yes, it does take 45 min to make). We came extra hungry and could still only finish 2/3 of it. My only minor negative is that I reserved on OpenTable and checked in under my name but the restaurant reported I didn't show. Not a big deal as I was able to clear it up .

Average dinner location

By HMom2 |

Stopped here for dinner. Food was average, nothing special. Our waiter was not very inviting and we felt rushed to make menu decisions. The place is fine but for me, I would pick a different place.

A pity about the front desk!

By Nicholas H |

Great ambience, seriously tasty food and wonderful service. I would have given 5 stars were it not for the appauling, almost hostile attitude of the reception desk team. It was more like checking in to a prison than arriving for a fantastic meal in a buzzing restaurant on a Friday evening. Please, wherever you found these guys, send them back!

Good food and good value.

By Douglas B |

They are well known for deep dish pizza and our fiends got that. It was delicious! My wife had the gluten-free pasta with vodka sauce and I had gnocchi with bolognese. Everything was great! Recommended.

Not as great as it seems

By Jill B |

This was our second bad experience at this restaurant. The first was over Labor Day weekend, so I attributed it to that. They told us the wait was 40-45 mins without a reservation. I went online and made a reservation and we were seated 10 mins later. Our service was terrible. The waiter took our orders and never once came back to check on us. When we asked for a dessert menu he said they didn’t have dessert just gelato. What Italian restaurant doesn’t have dessert? When we walked through the restaurant we saw people eating tiramisu. The food was just fair.

Deep Dish

By bcsystems |

Really enjoyed the deep dish pizza here. I find it not as thick as the other's and the crust more tasty. It was nice sitting outside. The service was fast. It's very good location around the corner from Michigan Ave.

Chicago Best Pizza

By Robert G |

You can’t visit Chicago without having a pizza and we have just had the best pizza ever. We ordered the 14” sausage deep pan to share, we were advised it would be around 35 minutes as everything is cooked to order and we were not disappointed. The pizza was excellent in fact we only could eat half of it so we have the other half in a box to eat later. Great food, great location and great service.

Well located Italian restaurant

By yassou2015 |

Pleasant setting and good room service. Quite varied menu with pasta, pizzas...good Italian, but nothing more. Desserts looked good too

Super food and service!

By natraeger |

We stopped in just as they were opening and were welcomed in even though the tables weren't completely set. The manager and wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. We ordered the Danial's Special deep dish pizza that was so good we ordered a second to take home. Great food, people and atmosphere. Highly recommend you stop in.

Great food and service

By David-Vero |

The food here was beyond great and the server (Jose) was “over the top” good. I opted not for a deep dish pizza. but the artisan crust. Somewhat thick, but sort of “fluffy.” It was a great crust. The pizza had EVOO, mushrooms, shaved parm cheese, and arugula. The arugula was excessive so I took about half off. Still, it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. My daughter got the rigatoni with Bolognese sauce, whipped ricotta, and pecorino cheese. It was amazing and I took some of the extra sauce and put it on my pizza. The granddaughter got the standard kid’s cheese pizza! The garlic knots (three of them) were actually a ton of chopped garlic crammed into a croissant roll; talk about good! Everything was perfect.

Great Calamari but average pizza

By The_Lankan |

I stopped in for lunch with my wife and daughter. We ordered an appetizer of grilled Calamari and it was probably one of the best Calamari’s we ever had. We also ordered a Margherita pizza and a sausage pizza and those were very average. I would not recommend this place for pizza. However, since that calamari was so good we will go back and try some of their pastas for dinner.

Best pizza ever.

By Kathy W |

What a place. Montsha was an excellent server. She answered all questions and was service with a smile. First time to Chicago and will be back. The thin crust was amazing and I was told to try that instead of deep dish and wow soooo good. I’ll be back to try the other. The cannoli napoleon we took to go and it was gross and a waste of $9. Way too much citrus and took over the cannoli flavor. Get the pizza but leave the desert to another place. The sauce is so good you can get any food.

Not my favourite joint in town

By JB81ontheroad |

My visit was...just ok. I arrived at 4:30pm and it was clear the staff were run off their butts - I was seated at the bar and the poor bartender barely had a moment to breathe, let alone take my order. I wasn't able to order for more than half an hour, but thankfully it didn't take too long for my pizza to arrive. I ordered the 12" Chicago Deep Dish pizza with Russo sausage (they didn't have a smaller deep dish available and I was on my own). The thing was absolutely massive and pretty good, but I didn't know it was going to be crushed tomato as opposed to sauce, which wasn't particularly pleasant. I had to ration my water as I wasn't sure I'd ever get a refill (and I didn't). To be honest, it was not my favourite joint in town.

Great deep-dish place

By Michael A |

Burrata and basil pizza — sinfully delicious! It took about 45 minutes to cook but it was well worth the wait.

Highly Recommend

By gritz71 |

Great time. Richies chicken was fantastic. Chicago deep dish pizza was excellent. Bourbon old fashioned was spot on- used a walnut infused bitters. We would eat here again.

Deep Dish Pizza

By Just Get in the Car |

Stopped in here during our recent trip to Chicago. Food was delicious. But we ordered way too much food. Remember that deep dish will really fill you up. We were there with kids. They all did pretty well with their food, and enjoyed themselves. We were there on a Tuesday night, and it was pretty busy. We did need to make a reservation, and still had a high top, which was a little tough for our little guy (6). Food was really good, and the experience was enjoyable.

Best. Pizza. Ever!!!

By Sami S |

We got the Danny’s Special and it was the best pizza we’ve ever had. The service was great even though it was pretty busy.

Deep dish deliciousness...and more!

By Joanne D |

Have never been to Labriola on previous trips to Chicago and did two on my most recent visit. First was for lunch, enjoying a delicious Orchard Salad with Grilled chicken, and then with our team for incredible deep dish pizzas and sides.

We had a lovely lunch at Labriola

By Anthony S |

We had a lovely lunch at Labriola. The food was excellent and the menu varied. The prices were very moderate. The drinks were also very good and well priced. The decor was lovely. Labriola has a very pleasant outdoor area. The wait staff was professional and charming. The clientele was attractive. The location is excellent just off Michigan Avenue.

Very busy and touristy

By Matt M |

We were seated in a circular booth which worked well for our crowd. The place was packed and very hot. Manager finally turned AC up about 25 min into our dinner. The lemon chicken was awesome!! Zuchinni chips notsomuch...very soft and flavorless. The deep dish were very good and very filling. 2 pieces max for me.

Wonderful food service!

By ruralgourmet |

Directed here last Chicago visit by bellman at The Intercontinental. Wanted a drink at their bar, but it wasn't open yet. The atmosphere and service at the bar for drinks and snacks was memorable. Knew we'd stop again next time in the windy city. Today, Cristian was our wait staff. Lunch, on a busy Wednesday, (yes pretty busy on a Wednesday) salads, drinks, appetizer, pizza. Great food, best service! A stop for us whenever we visit. Delicious fresh just really good food.

Good hot pizza with cool service

By MaumelleJim |

I found the service to be a little cool and slow. I saw my waiter talking a lot at the bar while I did without. The price was reasonable, especially since three people could have easily had plenty of pizza ordered for one. I see how people could love the pizza. It had fresh ingredients and went together well. Due to my particular taste, I only liked it.

Great Pie

By tmarcone |

Busy conference week in Chicago but I was able to get a table for six at a reasonable hour for some customers. Pizza was great, service was spot on (thumbs up to Raul) the price was not terrible for a Michigan Ave establishment.

Best Deep Dish in Chicago

By Jennifer B |

A relative newcomer has the best deep dish in Chicago. It’s delicious and not too heavy or thick. While my family likes the traditional, I like their thin deep dish. Tastes so fresh and light. Everything else we have had there is also delicious.

happy hour

By Alexandra B |

Good happy hour! Has a great atmosphere, sat at the bar. The bar tenders were alright but nothing over the top, they were friendly and gave recommendations to local places but almost to chatty as there were times we were waiting. Pizza was good but not hot.

Tasty pizza

By Tinascro |

Excellent pizza and service - we opted for the thin crust this trip. The sauce is flavorful, slightly sweet, and fresh . The staff is friendly professional and attentive.

Great pizza. Worth your time and money.

By travelinlight58 |

Great stuffed crust. The cheese going all the way to the edges was awesome. Recommend you try. There are tons of great pizza options in Chicago. This is one.

3rd time is not a charm, bad service

By pizzaguy44 |

We sat outside and were seated at 7:00 pm, I was staring at the overhead clock so it was easy to watch. About 15 minutes went by before we were greeted by our server, ordered drinks that never did come. Luckily we asked the busser to get our drinks and she did, but I had to go to bar to get another drink. The server never came back to check on us. I definitely understand restaurants are short staffed, but this service was horrendous.

Deep dish

By Mark R |

We enjoyed calamari and the baked goat cheese appetizers. The small deep dish pizza with apps is plenty to feed 4 and very tasty.

Pizza

By CRClouse13 |

Stopped here before heading out of Chicago and returning home. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but got busier soon after. The wait wasn't too bad for our food to arrive. The place has a nice atmosphere and feels classy. I would recommend coming here.

The worst restaurant in the world

By Happiness35885274424 |

We want when we were visiting and when here and the food was was terrible the garlic knots were to sweet and the garlic tasted like butter and the pizza was also too sweet and too greasy and it was soggy the service was OK and there were pipes under the table

Delicious deep dish!

By Jess H |

This was our first ever try of a Chicago deep dish pizza and it didn’t disappoint! It was sooo good. We ordered the 12 inch Danny’s Special. It was huge for two and we couldn’t finish it. So cheesy and gooey, it was amazing. Great service too! Definitely make the trip. Great atmosphere on a Saturday night.

Must visit

By Victoria |

Beautiful place and friendly staff. Great food choices as well. We were seated right away and our drinks were fantastic!

nice return visit

We met friends here for dinner and loved the deep dish pizza and service. It was crowded but you never got the sense the server didn't aim to please. We shall return!

Amazing place to eta, the food and the deep dish pizza were delicious, the prices also pretry good, everything fresh. Muy delicioso, la comida muy fresca, el seevicio rapido, muy amables, y los precios muy bien. 100% recomendado

Delicious and affordable

By Connie D |

We had the lemon chicken and the cavatelli for dinner, and the pasta was clearly handmade and both meals were beautifully prepared. The burrata caprese was incredible. Arturo was a great server and we thought this was so affordable for this neighborhood.

Enjoyed it all

By fwmaggie_12 |

This place was hopping at lunch time. They seemed to be fully staffed, which is hard to find these days. We got the goat cheese in the red sauce, which was just ok but the star was the cacio e pepe. Oh my they know how to make it! Would definitely return when we're back in town.

Kid welcoming, not just kid friendly!

By Jennifer & Brandon K |

I am giving this restaurant 5 stars for very specific reasons. 1) Completely kid friendly restaurant 2) Service was fabulous 3) Food was very good I looked around at "kid friendly" restaurants in the area and the kids menu at Labriola certainly peeked my interest. We wanted to sit outside and the pictures in Yelp showed how much space they had. My son loves spaghetti and meatballs and Labriola has a great version. We started with the garlic knots and let me say, these are to die for! They are croissants dipped in butter and garlic and they are amazing. My 4 year old took a bite and said quietly to himself "so good". That's how we know something is really good. Then mom tried it and wow! The meatballs were excellent too. I shared the spaghetti and meatballs with my 4 year old and it was perfect. I do like a little heat to my marinara, so I always add a little red pepper. I also did a side ceasar salad (which was huge, mind you). It was ok. Nothing to write home about but served the purpose of a salad. The star of the show were the garlic knots and meatballs. My older son had the cheese pizza and it was good too. If you are in the area and need a kid welcoming (not just friendly) restaurant with excellent service, try Labriola. Great outdoor seating too! OH, and you can make reservations, which is always a plus when you have young children.

Amazing food and atmosphere

By Ken W |

Came by this restaurant by accident. Glad I did because the food was incredibly and staff and super. Good value as well. Downtown is expensive but this was very reasonable. Delicious chicago deep pan pizza. Certainly my favorite place to eat.

Excellent deep pizza

By sylvain2308 |

Looking for a deep pizza, we chose Le Labriola Restaurant Pleasant Welcoming, smiling, efficient. Pizza à la carte with choice of ingredients. Excellent. Little Pizza is a little bulky for two. A very good address where we will gladly return during a future stay. Very correct price

best place in town (?)

By ernie |

i was recommended this place. they are said to have the best deep-dish pizza in town. but you should have a reservation, since this place is quite popular. especially on weekends, evenings, and during busy seasons like the marathon day (all of what applied when i went there). but i was lucky to get a seat at the bar. so i ordered my first deep-dish pizza. and yeah, it was great. and it is that big and sumtuous (and i took only the small one) that i was able to eat only half of it (which rarely occurs, since i have a very strong appetite). so it is good to share – or get it wrapped to take home. the staff is very friendly. the place is a bit loud however.

Great pizzas, service hit and miss

Would highly recommend if you have time and don’t mind poor service as the deep dish pizzas are fab. We went twice on a recent trip to Chicago as it was close to our hotel. The first time the service was truly appalling…worst I’ve encountered in the US. The second time the waiter was great. Both times food was great!! So wonderful food, service hit and miss.

When in Chicago, go to Labriola!!

By Wrldadvent |

When your in Chicago you must eat deep dish pizza and Labriola is delicious. We shared a skinny deep dish along with a salad, and still needed a doggy bag to take some back to our hotel room. Pizza was delicious.

Really Yummy!

We were seated very quickly, even though they seemed rather busy. The service was great and the food came in a timely manner. We got the garlic knots as an appetizer, which were interesting but delicious. They were made out of more of a croissant style of dough, which made them very flaky. We asked for a side of alfredo for dipping and the two together was amazing! We also created our own deep dish, which took about 40 minutes to get to our table (expected). We really enjoyed the carmelized cheese on the crust! This place definitely beats other Chicago deep dish joints in town.

Terrible Service

By Kirt1 |

We sat for an hour before the waiter returned to say that our food had been given to another table. Any reasonable restaurant might have given the 3 drinks we had whilst we waited for free but not here. We paid snd left and will not be returning.

Unclear menu and poor service

By Annika L |

Stressed staff running between tables even though it's barely half full. Difficult to read menu if you have allergies. The husband took a pasta with seafood (creamy sauce). It turned out to be tomato sauce. I wanted to avoid dairy products and explained it twice. Finally chose a pasta with prawns where the sauce was removed. What came in was a plate of pasta WITHOUT anything at all. Finally, the prawns were served on the side 4 pieces. This dish cost $26. With hindsight I could have eaten what my husband ate because it was tomato sauce. Perhaps the waitress could have informed about that?

Great spot for Italian near Miracle Mile

By Pelicanman |

Needed a good restaurant for dinner before heading out to a blues club on a recent Saturday night. This place was very convenient and had excellent food and service. A bit crowded so get a reservation, but well worth the wait. Pizza was one of the best I've ever had.

Quick lunch for two.

By KansasTigerlily |

A decent place for a quick lunch. My husband enjoyed their thin crust pepperoni pizza. I ate the orchard salad and minestrone soup. The minestrone soup was good. Do not recommend the orchard salad as the grilled chicken was over cooked.

Good casual Italian restaurant off Michigan Avenue

By NoCleverCreation |

The food and service were really good. I had the chopped chicken salad, which was huge and over loaded with chicken, tomato, avocado ,and other things I can’t remember. Very good. My husband had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. He liked his food as well. My blackberry old-fashioned was good too. My salad was $17. I believe my husband’s entrée was in the low 20s.

Great skinny deep dish!

By JSJAK907 |

I’m thin-crust-pizza type of person but I can’t skip on trying deep dish on my first visit to Chicago so I thought the skinny deep dish would be a good compromise. Labriola did not disappoint! We had a custom skinny deep dish of sausage, mushrooms, and onions. So delicious! We also enjoyed the calamari and stuffed pepper appetizers. Service was fast and friendly. A good place to have a casual Italian dinner near the Magnificent Mile.

Excellent food and service

Sat outside and enjoyed linguini with clam sauce. Waitress was very friendly. Food at the tables next to me all looked very very good.

Not happy…

By Rita V |

We were seated in the back room, which was fine - quieter. But due to the way wait staff was assigned, the service was poor. We wound up ordering bruschetta from another wait person when the bread we asked for with our meal did not arrive. Figured we might actually get some bread this way. The bruschetta was not good - tough bread , cold and pre-prepared . Would be better to serve a lightly toasted bread with the tomato relish and cheese separately. We thought the bruschetta might be taken off the bill but all we got was an I’m sorry when the wait person finally returned. This was a Sunday afternoon. The place was not all that busy. We won’t be back.

A lovely option for couples or bigger groups.

We came here in the afternoon with friends for a drink. The atmosphere was calm and very peaceful. The smells and sight of the food made us think that we could return, as a couple, for dinner. We went at about 8pm. Yesterday was a national holiday but many places were open incidentally. Our waiter - who looked a bit like Adam Driver (Kylo Ren from the most recent Star Wars films) was efficient and dealt well with my partner's request for a significant variation to the menu. We had garlic knots as a starter. Garlic bread with Croissant dough. Delicious!! I had Orecchiette Calabrese. I have never had anything like it. It was gorgeous. Ground spicy sausage with a mild chilli, greens and small pasta discs with a little pecorino on top. My partner had a chicken parmesan without the marinara sauce but with a parmesan sauce. A waitress we called over - my partner needed a spoon -asked what she has ordered and was complimentary about it. My partner was very pleased. The only issue was that one serving had two chicken breasts so it was too big. As a hotel resident we can't really do what the locals do. They get the left overs boxed and they head home with it. Some people get their left overs boxed and give them to homeless people. A considerate alternative. Labriola is close to the river and the Chicago Tribune building just yards off North Michigan Avenue - known locally as the "Magnificent Mile". For UK readers think Oxford Street but higher end (Knightsbridge ?) shops. Will we go back ? Maybe but there are so many other places to try !

You’ll need a box. And that’s good!

By Dan B |

You’ll need a box. And that’s a good thing. The staff takes great care of you, and their beer list may not be deep, but it’s great. The manager (Alexis) is wonderful and made us feel at home.

A Hungry Gringo forgotten perfect find..

By Hungry Gringo |

For some unknown reason my review never made it in. This one I hope will. I was in Chicago for a week earlier in the year. I sampled several of Chicago’s best deep dish. Out of all tried, this one was by far the very best... Excellent. Perfectly cooked with that charred crust. Not burnt. The tomatoes on top made this pie extra special. If your only going to eat deep dish once in Chicago go here. If you only want a slice, their bakery next door is perfect. Pizza by the slice. Deep dish and or thin crust. By far this is the best deep dish in Chicago.

So nice we went twice

By andy.priest |

The staff here are great and the food was very tasty. We went two nights in a row as it was convenient for our hotel but it was very busy (marathon weekend). Both nights the food for each of us came out separately which is curious. On the first night mine came out 20 minutes after my wife’s and the second night my wife’s came out 10 minutes after mine. I couldn’t not get a deep dish pizza on my first visit to Chicago but it beat me. It was really tasty but half of it needed boxing up and taking with us.

Deeeee-licious!

By Spiritsayswoof |

Thursday evening dinner after a 6 hour drive and this place hit the spot! Very attentive hostess and what appeared to be a cohesive staff all working together. At first we almost missed the place because we walked from a direction that placed us below the restaurant. If you are walking from the West, its easier to spot up above. The Tortellini with peas and Pecorino was absolute heaven. My 19 year old liked the spaghetti and although he did not like the texture of the huge meatballs- he ate them and said they were “really good”. Meatballs are sort of a soft meatloaf texture. Very decent place, not fancy, and price was expected-worth it.

It wasn't as good as I expected.

By W00Boo |

There's a wide variety of Chicago-style pizzas, from thick to thin. But the taste wasn't as good as I'd hoped, and it felt like something was being poured on it. The amount is more than enough.

Not recommendable

By albuja |

Price quality ratio, bad We didn't like the pizza, it has some strange ingredient that does NOT leave it with a good flavor, I was sad that it was almost complete, the calamari was very “watery” and they didn't have blue moon beer, etc… I don't recommend it, there are a thousand more places to visit with best quality and price

Nice place

By Hans |

This is a popular place. The menu is mainly pizza and pasta. The staff is kind and welcoming. The prices are what you can expect from a tourist area. To me they sounded fair.

Not the best deep dish pizza in Chicago

By Ronald W |

So Disappointed. It started out great with good cocktails and a very interesting salad. Unfortunately the main dish, deep dish pizza was a bomb. I confess; I am not a deep dish pizza expert, but I think the crust is supposed to be a big part of the experience. This crust had no flavor. No yeast, no butter, no….. flavor. The caramelized cheese was over done; it just tasted burnt. The bit of sausage that was on the pizza did have a good taste. Here’s my biggest issue. There were managers running around all over the place. None of them ever looked at our table. None of them ever ask if the food was good. There is no way they could have missed how we picked over the pizza. We left all of the crust. This place will be out of business by the next time I visit Chicago so I am not worried about going back.

Food was ok, host very rude.

By Bepeck |

The food was ok. The host was rude and ignored our request for a table a bit out of the way from the central traffic. He gave us a story about small parties not being seated where we asked to be seated. Not five minutes later, we watched him seat a party of 2 exactly where we had asked to be seated. We tried to get another table in the corner, which another host was about to give us, when he stopped them as he allegedly gave that table to another party. After the first story, I did not believe him. We will not be back.

Good experience.

My daughter had gnocci and I had spaghetti and meatballs and both meals were good. The atmosphere is family friendly and relaxed. Service was good.

Left me high & dry

By Leo E |

We ordered a pizza from Labriola Pizza in Chicago, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The restaurant delivered the order to the wrong Dasher, and after an hour they canceled it without any explanation. When I called, the manager, Jason, told me they weren't really liable and that it was "based on their delivery service," showing zero accountability. DoorDash later informed me that Jason hung up on them as well and simply told them "not to worry," offering no concern for the guest experience. With so many pizza and pasta options in Chicago, there's absolutely no reason to deal with this level of disregard. I would strongly recommend staying away from this place. This business has zero regard for its customers and shows no accountability for its service or its reputation.

The best of the Deep Dich

By Didier L |

Friendly welcome in an Italian restaurant. Seven at the table, we had the Chicago specialty, namely the Deep Dich: the big one with cheese and the smaller size with peppers. A real treat accompanied by a Lambrusco. To do. Good value for money

Great value, great food & service, great atmosphere

By Lucy B |

Loved our visit here. The restaurant was busy and had a great atmosphere. Food was delicious, service attentive and friendly and we were delighted with the value for money. Can fully recommend the deep dish pizza.

A good performance

By Tony M |

For a Pizzeria in the middle of a main city it was OK. Certainly the 'Ritchie Burger' I had was good and fair value. However we went to Labriola because my wife wanted a genuine 'Chicago Deep Pan Pizza' and as such I can only report on what I had.

Pretty good overall

By Priscilla L |

The food is great, the ambiance too. It’s worth every penny for the food, however I just didn’t give 5 stars because we ordered the wine glass of the house and unfortunately is as cheap as you can get, definitely not in same standard of everything else in the restaurant. Also service could be better, but overall would recommend and come back.

Excellent meal

By Jimvin |

I stopped for a drink and a bite to eat, choosing to eat outside. I had the stracciatella, which was excellent. The restaurant is huge, which I discovered when visiting the restroom. Very good service.
