We celebrated a milestone birthday recently at Lacroix, and it was unlike anything else we have experienced in this area in decades. We were seated next to a window, an improvement over our last visit where we were placed in the elevated area. We also sprung for wine pairing (with the tasting menu) rather than a dedicated bottle, another enhancement. First, the staff did everything conceivable to make the celebration memorable from start to finish, and without a trace of kitsch. Next, service was of a caliber I have rarely encountered since living in Europe several decades ago: always (except once) on the right, thoroughly professional, and unobtrusive yet attentive to a fault. The only problem is that this treatment spoils you -- our established haunts with excellent cuisine now seem coarsened by way of comparison. Staff is also knowledgeable. Ask your server a question, and within seconds someone appears who not only has the answer, but clearly knows his or her stuff and can expound in as much detail as you could expect from a learned but genial professor. As if this weren't enough, overall the cuisine was as credible as we have had in the area. Granted, once in the early days of Le Bec Fin we encountered comparable excellence, even if not in later visits. (Lacroix's service is also natural, inconspicuous and pleasant, in contrast to the stiffer, hovering and more formalized treatment at the erstwhile Le Bec Fin.) An amuse bouche offering was a Virginia raw oyster nestled in a mignonette. It was the best either of us has had anytime, anywhere. Lobster prepared with curried persimmon, celery root and pumpkin was stunning, and the pistachio financier paired with an outstanding muscat came close. My wife's main course -- duck with parsnip dumpling, quince and huckleberry -- was a gift from the gods. I can but wish I had chosen it instead of beef, which was overcooked and thus robbed of most flavor. The foie gras terrine was the only other course that lacked excitement, probably because the night before we had feasted on Bibou's incomparable fresh foie gras. Wine pairing was, overall, superb, both for quality and mating. The obviously talented sommelier explained each wine in at least as much detail as most folks might desire, with every glass being memorable except for the duck where the pairing was arguably more creative than optimal. In all, this was an evening to remember even for a pair of long-spoiled foodies. Yet, there is one drawback: Virtually no time is left between courses. In France, and for any special occasion, the interlude between courses is central to the experience, as it gives folks a chance to interact when they are in an agreeable frame of mind (witness "Babette's Feast"). There is no way to put this gently: Lacroix rushes people through what should be a leisurely meal. Here, Bibou stands in considerable and positive contrast, although some who are used to our fast-paced culture might beg to disagree. Withal, in our experience Lacroix is the area's top of the mark for food, wine pairing and -- pacing aside -- service. If you can swing it, polish off the evening's experience by lodging at the Rittenhouse Hotel if you don't live close by.

After having thoroughly enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Lacroix, we decided to experience a tasting dinner offered by the restaurant. The 6-courses affair (with the addition of various amuse-bouches, small bites and gourmandises it is actually more an 8- to 9-course offering). Without dwelling on particular dishes, for the menu varies and gets constantly reinvented, we can only express the highest degree of contentment and satisfaction we experienced and convey the continuous feeling of surprise, discovery and gratitude to Chef Eric L., the Chef de Cuisine of this supreme destination for the lovers of the high gastronomy. Highly recommended for both the inventively artistic cooking and excellent wine-pairing. Now, we shall prepare for Lacroix's next level of ultimate culinary experience, the multi-course Chef's Tasting Menu. Please expect our next review soon.

My husband and I dined at Lacroix for brunch as part of an anniversary weekend celebration. We had read wonderful reviews about the bunch and it lived up to expectations. Our server was great and gave us a tour after we arrived. We started with the hor d'oeuvres which were phenomenal. The tiny samplings were the perfect size for you to really try everything. There were so many complex flavors and unique offerings that it was hard to pick a favorite appetizer. Next, we went into the kitchen to sample some of the many main dishes available. The choices were amazing-everything from duck confit to traditional Belgian waffles. Again, things are prepared in small portions, so we tried almost everything they offered. The lamb loin was perfectly cooked and flavorful, the carrot French Toast was delicious, the duck confit was amazing. Just as with the hor d'oeuvres, there really wasn't any main dish that was disappointing. Desserts and pastries were good but not as good as the hor d'oeuvres and main dishes. That's ok, because we were starting to get full. I was a bit disappointed in the pastries-I thought they would be just a little more tender and flaky. The chocolate fountain gives a "wow" factor but the flavors with that are rather ordinary. Overall, our servers were attentive and always there to refill our orange juice or coffee, to give us new flatware, or to answer any questions. The food was wonderful unique. It was a wonderful way to end our anniversary weekend. We will definitely keep this in mind when wanting to splurge for something in the future.

If you like strong, tasty, unique drinks, make this a stop on your trip. The mixologist knows what she is doing and the grapefruit drink even had grapefruit infused ice - mind blown! The sunlight, brightness from the windows, and soft seats make for the perfect ambiance.

Thought twice about eating at the hotel restaurant as often they are overpriced and you leave disappointed. Lacroix is the exception - everything about our evening was excellent. Firstly we had the 5 course tasting menu. It’s really good. High quality well presented food which tasted great. This is not the plate is large so it’s good American fare. This is European small plates of fantastic taste and sophistication. The staff were brilliant. From a page of Philly cheesesteak restaurant tips to giving us a bag of chocolate for our son on leaving, they could not have been more charming our friendly. Lacroix is not a cheap night - but a truly memorable time was had by all at our table.

There is a commitment to excellence at LaCroix - that is apparent even as you enter. The restaurant overlooks the park - a lovely view - and the restaurant itself is perfectly done and perfectly lovely. There's some ethereal sense to this place - it's that nice. And the service equally so - LaCroix's staff is welcoming and warmly gracious. You cannot help but feel at home here. Indeed - the Rittenhouse has created a restaurant so lovely that you feel it ethereal and at the same time the gracious service of the staff invites you to feel perfectly at home in the ethereal. It's almost magical. So much so that the food simply doesn't matter but it too was quite fine.

Well this really was it! Visiting Philadelphia for business my husband and I , chose Lacroix because it was s ‘price fixe with wine pairings , ‘and we understood ,the chef Jon Cichon, chose one particular type of fruit ,vegetable or protein to highlight On a particular night Lucky us ...the highlight was stone fruit , and all 6 or maybe 7 courses used a stone fruit in the dish presentation. The Amuse-Bouche was incredible , a bing cherry filled with foie gras . Then on to an apricot kernel basil and melon sorbet then to lamb with plum , and Black cod with mango corn and anise hyssop & of course , super reserve pairings of wine for each. Still thinking about the food ,the service ,and the company. Wait staff and Service was exsempliary as well as wine pairings that were spot on” applause to the Sommelier. Save your money be cause it’s worth it!

What a delicious meal! The wine pairings were perfect accents to each course of the tasting menu. It was an exciting culinary journey perfect for a birthday celebration! One of the best restaurants I have been to.

Can't say enough about the brunch here. One actually goes into the kitchen and the buffet is manned there by chefs. Everything from raw fish to omelettes, carving stations, etc, etc. Fantastic desserts also

This is a wonderful restaurant - both the service and food was exemplary. Contemporary - clean line decor. Tasting menu is our recommendation. One of the best in Philly.

Our dinner experience was excellent. They only offered a Menu Degustation for dinner but that was exactly what we were looking and it was excellent. The wine pairing was perfect. Thank you.

Visited yesterday evening and have to say it was excellent. Matt and Scott on the floor were awesome. Other staff just as great. We were last to leave and they were really patient as we slowly finished up. Just great food and great service.

Everything about Lacroix makes it a top-notch dining experience, probably one of the top 5 we have had since moving to the Philly area six years ago. Service - among the best we have seen. Knowledgeable, gracious and engaging with no attitude of any kind. Wine list - overwhelming. Easily one of the most extensive we've seen. Food - spectacular. We did the 8-course chef's tasting menu with pairings. Admittedly maybe it was a bit much but each and every dish was superbly prepared and presented. Overall we definitely will be going back

What a beautifully elegant restaurant in a very regal part of town. While very busy when you enter, immediately upon sitting at your table you are immediately transformed to a different place in time. By the way, don't be fooled by your first impression...the place is huge. The service is impeccable, and the food is very satisfying. It was too hot to have the doors open to really get the full effect of the French style Cafe, but it was still very nice. We went on a Friday and it is clear that the have a "busy" period, but even then the service is second to none. If you are looking for something light, try the chicken poitrine...it is very nicely seasoned and moist and filling, but not heavy.

My wife and I dined at Lacroix with five other couples during a business conference in Philadelphia in late summer. We were seated in a private dining room for our five course tasting menu. The service was exquisite, nearly the best during my many travels in Europe and North America, The food was very good, but not memorable as I cannot recall a single dish presented as I write this review three months after my visit. I do recall that they provided extras during our dinner and dessert which was much appreciated. What I remember from my dinner was superb service, a pricey meal and the dishes were not memorable. Overall, I would like to have a good memory of the food as much or more than the service.

First time coming here and anytime I am back in Philadelphia we will be coming back in. So many different options that it was hard to pick what to put on each plate. Getting to go back into the kitchen for the main dishes was a great experience to see. Don't worry about the cost as it is well worth it. The service was above and beyond and they even had a special dessert for our anniversary.

This is our go to place for special occasions or just because we want a reliably impeccable meal. Do they do crazy things with food? No. Do they prepare dishes that I would never think of, let alone attempt? Yes. And....the service is attentive, but not pretentious, the wine list is fantastic, and we've never had anything but a really lovely evening there....(and we've gone there very, very often).

We had Sunday Brunch and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were very well looked after. At $75 per head, it isn't a casual affair and we could have gorged ourselves on high quality fare. The Brunch is set out as help yourself with different stations for appetizers, deserts and sushi with the main courses served in the kitchen. It is very well done and we were spoilt for choice. It's an indulgence that is well worth it.

Brunch Extraordinaire! I came with my wife for an anniversary brunch. They were very accommodating. The staff is extremely well trained that certainly elevated our experience. They paid very close attention to finest details, such as I saw a staff member making neighboring table while placing glass not only he perfected placement of the silverware, he went through fine detail to check glass for any fingerprints as well. Apart from the service, food itself also deserves raging reviews of 5 stars. The chef accommodated my vegetarian request, and prepared dishes that were finger liking delicious. It was very peaceful fine dining experience in middle of the city. #VeggieAbroad

Very carefully prepared dinner with first class service. Beautiful wine list. Easy to negotiate for a handicapped person.

We had been traveling for several days and needed something special. We stayed at The Rittenhouse and seldom eat where we stay as we seek out the special places elsewhere. However, I heard many good things about Lacroix from the locals with whom I met that day. It was very special! The attention to wine and very special food is exceptional. I had a champagne expert with me and based on the sommelier's advice we settled on one neither of us had ever encountered. It was extraordinary. I could just go there and have oysters and that champagne. However, you would be happy to know there everything else was great. The staff were clued in, efficient and very knowledgeable. All in all, a very special and memorable experience.

My husband and I recently dined at LaCroix and were extremely impressed and delighted by the entire experience. Just the week prior, we dined at Daniel in New York City, and as highly regarded as Daniel is in culinary circles, Lacroix was actually better from the wine selection to the food. We were particularly taken with the sommelier. We had the 4 course meal with wine pairing, and I gave the sommelier the arduous task of pairing only dry, red, biodynamic wines with our meal. He did it brilliantly! Not only were his wine selections perfect for each dish, but he also shared interesting tidbits of information about the wines, vineyards and families who run them. He paired and served with humility, passion, charm and a true love of the wines. What a rare talent! The food was equally impressive. The sea trout with fennel, radish and green apple was wonderful, the short rib exceedingly tender and flavorful, and the Colorado lamb the best lamb I have ever had. Additionally, my husband and I are gluten-free and the restaurant came through with flying colors for all 4 of our courses, as well as offering special gluten free bread served with goat cheese butter, and a dessert plate full of gluten-free goodies just for us. The service and ambiance were fabulous – great vibe, great music, space between tables and beautiful aesthetics throughout the restaurant and on the table. Lacroix is very elegant but not overly stuffy. Ask for a window seat overlooking Rittenhouse Square. We sat at table #5 which was the perfect location. My husband and I are already coming up with reasons to dine there again soon. Run to Lacroix for your next special occasion or really for any reason. It was exceptional in every sense of the word!!

We visited PA in July. Lacroix was one of the recommendation from many website. We were glad we dine there. They offer a La cart menu as well as set menu. We chose a la cart menu but order more dishes than set menu. We really like the portion of side. quite good. Over all the food taste good except Asian fusion dishes (mushroom) we do not recommend. We didn't finish the plate since it was so salty. We only taste the salt. We also ordered Dover sole fish that they recommend. The dish is just ok. There are too many ingredient on it from our opinion. The one we really like was Foie Gras. It was so creamy and delicious and they gave a big portion.

There is a menu selection or buffet for breakfast. There are numerous choices on the menu. The staff is excellent and very attentive. The room is very beautiful and full of light. This is a very positive way to start the day with an excellent breakfast. The frittata was superb.

Enjoy breakfast with great service. We did ala cart and would highly recommend any of the egg dishes. They even accommodated my request for a dish not on the menu.

Brunch on Sunday with Family visting from NYC was excellent. I did not suspect that this restaurant was in town since we moved here from Brooklyn. Our room Maitre 'D and wait staff were highly professional and pleasant. He provided us with a detailed tour of available food stations and did well by me by describing the Chipped Beef selection as SOS (I am an Army brat and Veteran) . The kitchen station tour was excellent. With the exception of the pates-which were looking a bit dried out and the less than special Paddlefish roe: everything wlse was excellent. I recommend this Brunch for a special occasion or a special brunch. BTY this is a all you can eat and Mimosa drink.

Went to the Sunday brunch today at Lacroix. It was such a great experience. The service was amazing, they take you on a tour of the food stations (some of which are in the kitchen, so it’s great to be able to see the kitchens too). Food was great, certain items were phenomenal and there is such a great selection. The carving station meats were perfectly cooked, good raw bar, interesting selection of items, great charcuterie. One thing I’d skip next time was the fois gras s’mores (too sweet and no fois gras taste so was at little pointless). Would definitely go back for the Sunday brunch and try it out for dinner too.

A fantastic tasting menu which in my view compares with any dining event I have had in London, Asia or New York - excellent Japanese Sea Bream and Maine Lobster with a pairing wine menu to match. I have not had anything before as interesting as the Chardonnay/Tocai Fruili or the Chateu Neuf white. The service from Christopher our head waiter, the sommelier and team was superb and attentive. We also had a tour of the kitchen to meet the chef and team. Best dining experience for many years.

I found this restaurant to have great food and a pleasant atmosphere. The cocktails were also outstanding.

The location is great in The Rittenhouse. I reserved in advance as we were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant was not packed, so quiet. Our table was ready with the attentions expected for an anniversary (personalized menu). The staff was polite, professional and very cared to our every needs. The food was amazing. Presentation was impeccable and the taste wonderful. The wine selection is great and they even chipped in a glass a champagne on the house. Really, a lovely evening to celebrate the love of my life for 15 years. Could not have picked any better restaurant than Lacroix! A repeat!.

This is really a great restaurant. Each dish (including the 2 amuse) were excellent. We have been to a lot of so called great restaurants that disappoint. Lacroix exceeded our expectations.

Had breakfast with an associate. Service was excellent. The food was good but very expensive. Great place for a business. Breakfast meeting.

That is a French restaurant and nothing but French customs prevail in service. So be prepared to sit, to wait, to enjoy time and the food prepared only for you. If you, by chance, happen to be in a hurry, just avoid it. You may end up with a headache but the food will not come faster. The place is also expensive, so be prepared to enjoy or else.

I have been lucky to visit many nice places for brunch around the world. Lacroix has been one of my best brunch experiences ever. From a design/architectural perspective the place is not that special. However, the presentation of the food, the quality of the ingredients, the variety of dishes, and the professionalism of the staff, are all top notch. Reservations are essential. They offer two seatings of about 2 hrs each. From all the dishes I tried, the brisket was my absolute favorite. One of the best I have tried. The salads were also very good, as well as the oyster section.

I don't write many reviews, but a recent dinner with my wife at Lacroix was truly amazing and I felt it my responsibility to share. We had the five course tasting menu with the basic wine pairing. Each course was accompanied by a fabulous summary of the pairing and a very good dish.... and each course left us with a bit more experienced palate. You don't get huge portions, and while the meal is not inexpensive, in my opinion, it was worth every penny. A truly memorable experience. This was the best service I think I have ever received. Great for couples on a special occasion.

Service was exceptional. My kids enjoyed being pampered. Very disappointed that the ran out of liquid nitrogen to make the dots ice-cream that we couldn't wait to get. The food was good-not overly out of this world. Giant blueberries and casino clams (2 types) were my favorites. Salmon overcooked. Vietnamese broth with egg was odd, not at all Vietnamese. Deserts were (again) just ok. I thought it would've been better given the high ratings. If it was about only service, I'd give it a 5 star, but it's not.

We made reservations for the breakfast buffet on a Sunday and the latest we could get was 0800. Waiting for brunch was too late for my family. Only one other table was seated at this time, so probably.could have walked on whenever we liked. Gorgeous restaurant, lovely seating and wonderful view over the park. Server was very personable. Breakfast buffet was $30 per person, no discount for our 11 yo . Coffee was amazing. Fresh juice. Our favorites from the buffet we're the smoked salmon, the chicken sausage and the make your own yogurt parfaits. The food was very good. The staff were slow in clearing plates, had to stack them several times. If you want an early buffet, I recommend this one.

We went using a dinner for two certificate we purchased at auction at a fundraiser. The meal was spectacular. The service impeccable. Sommelier super knowledgeable, he put together a menu of our food choices and wines to take home which was great as we can order a few of our favorites for home use. The wine pairing (we splurged on the $150 pair pp) was sublime. I’ve read reviews and have seen some negative feedback here and there but I just scratch my head and cannot fathom why. This is a special place. The chefs tasting menu is $105 pp but it includes five courses plus two amuse bouche, water (we had Perrier), spectacular breads with two types of butter (we brought the leftovers home for morning toast), coffee (we had macchiatos) and petit fours/ homemade chocolates PLUS more chocolates for the road. You could never in a million years make this meal at home for the same price. The courses are the perfect size - not too rich which makes five courses doable. My husband and I aren’t huge eaters; we often spilt our apps, entrees and desserts but we found this menu to be a perfect splurge without leaving us feeling like we had to walk a half marathon the next day! Every dish was beautifully presented in its own unique tableware. La Croix totally reminds us of Le Bernadin in NY. Go! Close your eyes when you see the bill. Enjoy every second of the meal. It’s a special occasion place. It will check the special occasion box. You only live once- eat great food and drink great wines to commemorate the good times!!

Great location, high expectations, overall very good service, presentations of the food somewhat rushed, food hit and miss. Preset menu was interesting, but half of the meals were very plane. Great pretense to be European, but lacks the soul. Unlikely will visit again.

Food was OK but there was a protest outside that was incredibly loud and disturbing of our night out. I don’t think I will go back until the protesting is over. It was uncomfortable to sit there.

We dined at the restaurant for lunch and then brunch the following day. For lunch I ordered the turkey sandwich. The turkey was drier than the desert at the peak of summer. I would have had a more enjoyable sandwich at Wawa. The onion soup accompanying my sandwich was lackluster as well. I imagine a can of soup poured through a coffee filter would taste similar. Brunch is fantastic if you’re into bite sized creations, and other things scooped from the bottom of the ocean. The traditional breakfast items were your typical continental spread offered at any other hotel with a 75 dollar price tag smacked in your jaw.

We did not plan to eat here. We ate here out of convenience, as we were staying in the Rittenhouse Hotel. We ended up enjoying two breakfasts and a dinner here. All meals were excellent, and the service is really first-rate and professional. The breakfast omelets and eggs were most tasty. For dinner, we had onion soup and their take on a cheese steak. Excellent roll, meat, and cheese (they used Comte, not what you get in a Jim’s etc) and a veggie burger. The accompanying bread (from nearby Metropolitan Bakery) was fresh and tasty. The dining room is pleasantly quiet, and the chairs are about as comfortable as one finds in a restaurant.

As always dinner was fabulous!!! My husband and I had the lamb shank!! It was wonderful and paired with an amazing wine! Staff is top notch!! As for the bartender Amy, she is by far the best is Philadelphia. She is warm, friendly and makes cocktails you cannot imagine. Sylvin and Sean Paul are the most tentative hospitality host here on the East Coast. Christopher the waiter knows every dish, the wine and remembers the customer. He is hands down the best in the business. Please dont forget Tony the bartender... He has amazing stories about all of His travels... If you are looming for an exquisite meal and top notch dining experience you MUST come here!!

Located at treetop level in the Rittenhouse Hotel this is probably the highest rated restaurant in Philadelphia. The cuisine is always interesting and the setting and service perfect. I visit here on regular basis and be sure to book their terrific Buffets especially on holidays. They are truly spectacular and will impress your guests

We came here every Thanksgiving for years. It's expensive but was always the best food and best experience we ever had. Caviar/Oyster/seafood bar Appetizer bar Entrees severed in kitchen by chefs Chocolate fountain station... etc

Been multiple times. Absolutely the best Sunday brunch imaginable. Worth every penny of the unexpected price. Come hungry. Dinner is equally good, attention to detail, excellent service. A go to for business meetings or special events.

I ate here because I was staying at The Rittenhouse Hotel and received a complimentary breakfast from the Leading Hotels of the World. I did not know exactly what to expect but was very impressed. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. The ambiance was great. I would highly recommend dining here!

This is the second year in a row. I had a breakfast in this restaurant and it is the second year in a row. I am writing a TripAdvisor review to say that the omelette is totally tasteless. It is beyond belief that the hotel either isn’t reading these reviews or chose to ignore it.

I can only speak to the drinks, and only with the highest praise. Kudos to our bartender Lauryn who offered up selections based on our preferences. My wife and her friend received drinks from the menu, but I was treated to a custom daiquiri (straight up, of course - frozen is for spring breakers). Lauryn definitely knows what she's doing and we will be back for sure. Maybe next time we'll even try the food.

The hotel itself is very elegant as is the restaurant. We had many different servers, wine stewards and waiters. Great wine selection from modestly priced to very expensive. Meal courses were served promptly but not hurried. Each portion was small but with all the courses it was more than plenty. Would recommend. Cost for four of us was approx. $800.00 plus tip

Ate breakfast here during a recent one-night stay. Service was efficient though they did forget the juice that came as part of the breakfast set, and had to be reminded. The croissants that they served were amazing and came with a delicious date butter. The ricotta pancakes were great and you could pick your choice of toppings. The egg dishes were very well done too. Do note that their teas come in huge pots, so those can be good for sharing. They have a buffet option as well.

The service is the best experienced anywhere in the US and not far off the best of European service. Servers usually come in twos, no hands cross your plate, everything is clean and finger-print free; they go the extra mile (producing an unlisted cocktail for example and dealing with the car valet service near the end of our meal. Cassoulet of white beans, green olives and nasturtium was attractive, hot and deliciously well-balanced. The grilled lamb with fermented plum perfectly cooked medium-rare, again attractive on the plate a delicious. A young Cabernet Sauvignon from France was surprisingly complex, leggy, with good aromas and surprising body. This is an impressive restaurant with great views of the tree-filled Rittenhouse Square and we will be returning and considering staying at the Rittenhouse to do dinner and breakfast. HIGHLY Recommended.

Food - amazing! Service - attentive, professional, and regimented. The restaurant preserves an old-school elegance without the stuffiness. Appreciated the personal touches and enjoyed meeting the extraordinarily talented chef. The vegetarian menu is exceptional!! Definitely an experience well worth the price.

The food was phenomenal at this restaurant. It is served in 5-6 courses with a few freebies thrown in. You can decide on a few items but several other of the courses are fixed. The description of the food was helpful and the foods taste was fantastic. All 4 of us enjoyed it. We had two bottles of wine with help from the sommelier. It was a great 3 hour experience. Dinner was $105 each and then a few hundred for a few bottles of good wine. It was expensive but worth the experience. Great service and attention to detail.

We enjoyed our stay a The Rittenhouse and were able to have several meals, snacks and cocktails in Lacroix. You may order breakfast from the menu or do the buffet, which has everything imanagable to choose from. Special made sausage to die for was my favorite. Thanksgiving dinner was a terrific buffet where ther were hundreds of different items to choose from. Meats and sauces were located in the kitchen, including beef, ham, pork, turkey and of course a big leg of lamb. The selections of breads, vegatables, cheeses, fruits and desserts was immense. What a spread. Lacroix's Manager, Sylvan is a fabulous host whose staff works continuously to make certain each guest is happy and comfortable. This facility is so clean and polished you won't believe it. They even iron each table cloth as soon as it is placed on the dining tables. It is nice to be pampered.

Great brunch where the buffet is actually in the kitchen. Meet the staff that made the food and enjoy a very wide variety of specialties. A cant miss Philly dining experience.

Our party of 4 had a wonderful evening at Lacroix on a Friday night. We were there for a dinner featuring Dustin Wilson (one of the master sommelier candidates in the movie "Somm"). The meal consisted of 4 courses with wine pairings - each course provided a choice of 2 dishes with matching wines. Between us we had all of the food and wine options. Everything was delicious and the wines matched perfectly with the food. Table favorites were the Winter Squash Carpaccio, the butter-poached Lobster with Celery Root, Persimmon and Preserved Pumpkin, the Beef Cheek, the Roasted Duck and the dessert with chocolate, pumpkin, coffee and warm spices. The quality of the food and wines were exceeded only by the quality of the service. While traditional white table cloth restaurants no longer seem to be popular, there is something special about being served by staff who are both knowledgeable and passionate about the food and wines they are serving. Each course was described in detail by the waiter - not in a pretentious way, but with enough information to help you understand the tastes you are about to experience. Each wine was accompanied by an explanation as to why it was chosen and how it was expected to compliment the food. All of this was done in a manner that made you feel that they really cared whether you had a great experience. We spent about 3 hours enjoying our experience - it seemed like far less time to us. Dinner was $125 per person (food + wine pairings) - while this is certainly a lot of money, we really felt like we received value for what we paid. If you are looking for a special occasion restaurant, I strongly recommend Lacroix.

Fine dining with exceptional service. We both had fish (Halibut - John Dory)--exceptional. Decor is appropriate.

Nice atmosphere, sophisticated, but not stuffy. Great service and great food! Overall a great dinning experience. Splurge a little and enjoy.

The 3 star rating balances the cost in conjunction with the food offerings. The food was good for the most part but the number of dishes available was less than half of what they offered before. The dessert table was simply pathetic. Not only were there few dishes they were often empty. When you pay $125 per as a base (they Automatically add a 17% tip). The brunch does include an entre which we thought was mediocre. We also had a child with us. They charge $65 but had nothing that would appeal to child eg pancakes, waffles. They also had NO bread options and there weren’t even crackers for the cheeses. (When we asked they did bring a small plate of bead to the table .On the dessert table they has a plate with a chocolate chip cookie and a Rice Krispie treat which most definitely looked store bought—the 5 year old was not impressed My disappointment is compounded because I remember how good this brunch was pre pandemic. Also my daughter had been there in April 2023 and said it was much much better than what we experienced . Bottom line —you do not get your money’s worth.

A true fine dining experience! My partner and I dined on a Saturday night and availed ourselves of the prix fix tasting menu. The theme of the menu for that time was Citrus, though I do understand that it changes monthly. Each course was a delight to the palate. Though it was small portions, at the end of the seven courses with amuse bouches thrown in I was full. Waitstaff was courteous and the total experience a delight. I would like to go back again perhaps on a week night and sample the general menu.

Honestly just waiting for this restaurant to close and start over. I attended their brunch in the spring and still have not shaken off my experience. While the food presentation is unlike anything in the city, I cannot support a business that treats their own employees in such a belittling manner. I was apart of a bigger group that rented out one of the private spaces and the room was not ready when we arrived. Which was not the problem. It was clear that the front of house staff was doing the best they could. Until one of the managers got involved. It was painful to watch the staff's efforts and concerns for our party to not only be dismissed by their superior but also done in such an aggressive manner. I do not think he saw us watching his conversation with a woman who worked there but as soon as he was finished he approached us trying to take the credit of trying their very best. I have been to a ton of restaurants and a common theme of a successful one is how the staff is treated.

This is a fancy brunch that is worth the price. The dining room overlooks Rittenhouse Square and the stations are laid out throughout the restaurant with the carving stations and hot dishes in the kitchen itself. There's a full raw bar with East and West Coast posters, caviar, snow crab, sushi, shrimp cocktail. The carving stations are amazing, although my favorite was probably the sausage made of scallop. Delicious and delightful. I wanted to try the salmon, which looked terrific, but had to pass. Duck confit was another of my favorites. Even the plain dishes are spruced up with rich ingredients and flavors, so quinoa becomes quinoa with fave beans, nettle and morels. Great experience

The two of us were at the restaurant for a birthday dinner. The menu was set with four choices including dessert. The dishes were well prepared and imaginative. The wine list was extensive.

Excellent food, prepared with focus on straight forward quality and the original taste of the ingredients. Really to be recommended.

It was the first time that in USA (and we are living in ny) we had a perfect service with a very good cuisine. They deserve 2 Michelin stars, I really hope one day Michelin will arrive in Philly! They called us by our name during all the dinner, all the team was so regardful, the presentation was very beautiful and plates was very good. Our best restaurant in USA.

We've stayed at the Rittenhouse Hotel twice now but this is the first time we've also dined there, in Lacroix. We had a light dinner one night and breakfast 3 times. The hotel is among the best, if not the best, in Philadelphia and there is great attention given to service. That said, there really is such a thing as "too much service"! It became a bit of a joke between my husband and I how overzealous the waitstaff were. Often, showing up to refill a half empty water glass or ask how our food was when we were deep in important conversation. A slightly "lighter touch" would be greatly appreciated. The food is nice. I have to say the shrimp with my slightly soggy Caesar salad were perhaps the most delicious I've ever had (and I grew up eating fresh shrimp in Florida). Having just returned from Austria, I should say that $19 for a glass of gruner veltliner is completely outrageous regardless of the setting.

I have had some wonderful meals here in the past. This review is of their Christmas buffet which is somewhat related to their Sunday brunch buffet but, according to them more elaborate. The food is all you can eat and is presented in a variety of different stations as a brunch with emphasis on lunch / dinner things. One station is the raw bar with oysters, American caviar, smoked salmon, and about 4 or 5 types of sushi. Another station is the bread bar with a variety of breads (including toast points for the caviar), breakfast danish, pastry, and rolls, and a few other types of bread. Another station is a bunch of salads (often very elaborate and delicious) and appetizers (such as foie gras s'mores). In the kitchen itself are more stations including various hot items (like lasagna, curried veggies and chicken, scallop sausage, bacon, potatoes, other sausage, pastrami cut to order, ham, other pork, a charcuterie station with same salamis and cheese with some bread and crackers, various veggie dishes. And then there are the dessert stations -- one is inside the kitchen with a chocolate fondue fountain with fruit and pastry items which can be chocolate coated, cinnamon rolls, and several warm puddings, and an outside -- back in the main dining area -- dessert station with cookies, cakes, and other puddings. The food choices and preparations are very elaborate and taste wonderful. The biggest problem is making selections so you don't have to be rolled out of their on a cart. With all this there is also the excellent La Croix service, attentive and not overbearing. Coffee, tea, etc. are included. The only extra charge is for alcohol. It's a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas.

The wait staff swarmed around us pouring water and wiping clean the table and the food took FOREVER to arrive... truly one hour between courses. Excruciating.

So we came here today (Sunday) first off, Jorge, our waiter, sir you are hands down the best waiter in the world. You made this first time experience perfect! Thank you! Foodies: I've read all the "terrible reviews" and I've noticed that these reviewers aren't "foodies". This place you go to is for a food experience. You get to walk around the kitchen while food is being prepared. It's definitely an experience everyone should try!. Yes it cost $75. Big deal. The food was delicious! The ONLY thing I can complain about which really isnt a complaint it's more like preference... some of the food isnt that warm... the foods that are in the kitchen that are served on the wooden boards, they can get a little cold if there's no heating lamp. It's just preference. The staff is really nice they called ahead of time to confirm the order and I pointed out my allergies and was given a menu without reminding them that highlighted my allergies. So that was great. Valet is $20 make sure you get your card stamped. I would absolutely go back. It was a great experience. Theres different types of foods from sushi to caviar to breads to eggs to pork loins.. I mean it really is worth the money in my opinion.

I love feeling like I'm treating myself to something special. This spot did it. I love brunch and I love being pampered. The food was unbelievably good, so much choice, such variety. It's a buffet style with multiply Food Rooms to pick from. When you get there they give you a tour of all the different choices and which room to find it in. Yummy dam food! It's pricey $$$, $75 a head plus tip but a great time. There is no pressure to move you on for another cover, they let you just sit there as long as you like. We were a party of 6 and we stayed for hours it felt like. I had a mix of traditional brunch fare along with some sushi, meats(duck), pate, and other eclectic foods I can't even remember. So good. Go when you're ready to enjoy and the price won't matter. One thing I did miss was the classic Eggs Bene, I love the Bene. Could of been there too but I missed it. I bet, too, they would of made it for me, it's that kind of place.

There is no questioning that this is a refined establishment. Nothing ruffles them. But once you sit down, you'll have to reset your expectations. It's neither a traditional menu nor a tasting menu. The recommendation for a couple is several small and large plates. This is quite a challenge if you're from out of town and want to get a full experience and won't have the chance to come back and revise the choices. A raclette tartine was warm and salty and buttery smooth but not memorable. The potato risotto was an interesting take on a rice dish and more pleasant in my opinion. A dab of caviar added more savoriness. We also had glazed sunchokes but it was less exciting. The lobster in sauce americaine was the best of the night - larger portion / well poached and delicately seasoned. Overall, there are better meals to be had and the overall experience was refined and a tad overpriced.

In hindsight, we should have just walked out. It was our anniversary, which I told the restaurant at the time I made the reservation. When we arrived, the hostess told us that there was a large group seated next to where they planned on seating us, is that ok? Naturally we said we prefer a quiet spot. We were anticipating a special evening, and according to the reviews, it certainly should have been. We have no complaints about the food, which was first-rate, even if expensive. But if you have a restaurant, where you charge high-end prices, your service should be equally high-end, which it was NOT. Many a time, during the course of the evening, I had to flag down a server. It seems that once we were seated out of the way, we were forgotten. It's a shame, but we wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

I have been here before and was not impressed by the "stuffy" service but today was a new experience. Expert European style service - no surprise as Andreas was Italian and knew how to serve. The hostess was charming and has been here for a long time. Her warm and professional manner was perfect. But the whole experience was unpretentious elegance. Even the door men and the main desk were what I would expect from a 5 star hotel. I hope they keep it up.

My wife and I sat at the Chef's Table in the Lacroix kitchen at the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia last Thurs. We got the full attention of Exec Sous Chef Doug Allen for a three and half hour culinary fireworks display. In the ten course (plus cheese) menu, several small plate appetizers stood out: -a voluptuous and savory sweet corn soup with poached quail eggs, fresh black truffle and osetra caviar -tiny sweet poached oysters with dashi, fresh tomato and radish -wagyu beef carpaccio with crispy shallots, cilantro and bok choy and several olive oils -a savory "pound cake" with layers of sweet cornbread and foie gras, with a rich sauce of sun gold tomato Then the mains= Tasmanian Sea Trout-like steelhead, a medley of sweetbread and spanish octopus with shiitake mushrooms served on a bed of grits and lamb chop, with charred eggplant, scallion and more shiitakes. For dessert, there were were two amazing and very different dishes. A tomato tart with two colors of sweet tomato over a pistachio filling and a dazzling chocolate medley over sweet banana, spiced with cumin and caramel sauce. There were a lot of Asian umami accents, but the theme that tied the meal together was summer sweet corn in a half dozen different disguises. Doug Allen is really impressive and passionate about his cooking. I've eaten at Lacroix three times in the past year, and each time have come away with a big smile. Cannot wait to return.

This is an extremely elegant dining experience - the Conductor of the Philadelphia Harmonic Orchestra was seated with his family next to us. It was an excellent experience except for the final course which was exceptionally dry - not an expectation for pheasant. Service and attentiveness by all were outstanding as was the dinner except as noted above.

We ate here for lunch. The service was outstanding. The food was good. If you are staying in the hotel, I recommend this restaurant.

Everything about this place is beautiful. The hotel is top notch, the host was handsome, the dinning room attractive (new carpeting is needed), the waitress was friendly, informative, and attentive. The food was exactly as described and prepared perfectly. The drinks even better than I expected and I expected the best. The view (Rittenhouse Square) was awesome. If you have a special occasion or enjoy fine dining you really need to visit. Valet parking Reservations recommended

Brunch is my favorite meal. The dilemma of breakfast or lunch becomes enjoyable when you can have both, your way. This was an over the top experience. We loved it. The service was great but the food was sensational. Because the restaurant floor is not really large enough for serving all the food, the restaurant serves part of the buffet in the kitchen. So fun! We ate the lunch hot food first, dessert second, and salads and breakfast food last. We wanted to make sure we had room for dessert as they were so good. The morals were a treat along with all the other seasonal spring foods. We are coming back in each season just to see what the chef produces. Can't wait.

We were here for brunch on Easter Sunday. Love this place. The service was outstanding. The food was unique. well presented and absolutely Delicious!. I loved the tour of the buffet stations those goes into the kitchens. Chef, waiter, bus boy, didn't matter were very gracious and helpful. I had fresh oysters, salmon smoked and baked, beef, scallop sausage, Bloody Marys, hot tea, strawberries dip in the chocolate fountain.and more. What a wonderful experience. Yes, they are expensive but this is a great splurge. You can park at the Rittenhouse Garage for $20.00. Just have the restaurant validate your parking receipt. This food experience will be tough to top!

If you want to be treated like royalty dine here. Amazing meal from start to finish with impeccable service that made you feel like a king. Your water never goes below a quarter without being refilled and the timing of each course is done very well. The tasting menu comes with some added delights and every bite was better than the last. Thank you for making our anniversary so special and for making special accommodations for someone who doesn't drink alcohol, but still wanted to celebrate.

It's such a leap to just call it Sunday Brunch. The choices are overwhelming and then you go into the kitchen for an extension of nicely prepared and served items. If you are looking for typical scrambled eggs and bacon, it's there but why would you? It's expensive, but a real treat.

First, I must say that we didn't eat in the restaurant BUT we did have their fare for room service. Maybe it was the travel from restaurant to our suite, but it lacked flavor, presentation and was just okay...nothing more I'm sorry to say. I expected a lovely dinner and received a mediocre one at best.

My husband and i enjoyed a tasting menu last night to celebrate his birthday. We've lived locally for over 40 years and have eaten at many of the best restaurants in the world ( lucky us!) It's delightful to be able to dine to extraordinarily well in our own backyard. Not only are the ambience and service beyond compare, the food is amazing! Only finest ingredients prepared with the most skilled touch imaginable arrived, dish after dish. The reserve wine tasting was equally extraordinary! We left satisfied and feeling so good! I'm sorry to the "competition " but really, it's not close. Special occasion? Lacroix!

I had a lovely birthday dinner here overlooking Rittenhouse Square. The hotel is also beautiful, and it set a wonderful ambience to have a relaxing, beautifully served, delicious dinner. We had the tasting menu and loved it. It is an expensive special-occasion type of place.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks and a light snack. The bartender went out of her way to make a drink that my wife had elsewhere and it was excellent. Had an excellent cheese/charcuterie tray. Typical prices for the area.

This brunch is the best I’ve ever been to, hands down. Not only is the quality of the food superb, but your also immersed in the innovative combinations and presentations of a stellar set of chefs and staff. Not cheap and worth every penny.

Had Sunday brunch here with friends with whom I make an annual trip to a different city each year. This was the best Sunday brunch ever! Food was excellent and the wait staff equal to the food. Unique in that much of the brunch is served in the kitchen where the food is prepared, so you get to see the food prep as well. Pricey but worth every penny!

The experience at LaCroix was and experience that was beyond my expectations and I shall never forget . It was a friends birthday, and he selected this restaurant. What A Great choice.!!!The ambience of the restaurant was amazing. When my friend and I entered the lobby of the LaCroix we were greeted with a friendly smile by the Maitre; he quickly checked our reservation and then we were escorted to our table. A table overlooking the street, but a delightful table. The ambience of the restaurant was definitely a feeling of elegance and splendor. Our waiter quickly approached us and inquired about our drink order. Then the waiter explain the daily items on the menu. We finally ordered, a crock of onion soup, which was delicious, I had just a simple sandwich of a turkey club which was great, my friend had some type of fish which he said was great. The whole experience is one that will be etched in my thoughts. Just a most delightful and a awesome experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Five stars to the staff who did their best to accommodate my surprise and disappointment. We booked the Christmas brunch in early December (when the specific menu was not yet available) based on all the great brunch reviews. It was $150 per person. I was shocked by the menu which was 95% dinner food with a side of runny scrambled eggs in a chaffing dish. There was no omelet station, no toast, no waffles, no pancakes, no muffins, no scones, no breakfast breads, no fruit juices, no yogurt, no granola, and no berries. They had smoked salmon but no bagels or bread to put it on and no cream cheese. Instead there was lamb, duck, steak, ham, raw oysters and dessert cakes. Not exactly the stuff you want to wake up and eat for breakfast. Really, they should just take away the sad chaffing dish of scrambled eggs and just market this meal as Lunch and Dinner. I can't believe I ended up paying $150 for a special order omelet with toast. But thank you to the staff who gave me something resembling breakfast at least.

Chef Chicon is the premier man behind the scenes, cooking masterpieces. Sylvain Briens is the cosmopolitan dining manager. My major complaint is the hostility of the staff towards handicapped people. I have Diabetes II, and at buffets, I need assistance by the wait staff in obtaining platters, as I must sit because of circulation problems in my feet. In my last visit for brunch, while I was staying at the hotel, the waiter outright refused to help me and walked away. Sylvain came to the rescue, and serviced all my requests. The wait staff is sometimes hostile when criticisms are issued. As a retired college professor, I make comments for learning purposes, not punitive. I had been coming there for fifteen years. Then, with other issues, Archambault, the hotel manager, banned me from the establishment. He claimed he could not verify my complaints about security hazards. No wonder, when the corrupt staff itself investigates, the policing agency itself is the malefactor of evil. Food is great, the ambiance is very good, the wait staff and security are unworthy of their titles.

This place is a total disgrace, so $28 for totally flavorless eggs, is this a joke?! In the same Rittenhouse square that has Parc and Devon restaurants?! Do yourself a favor and avoid this like a plague! Also service is awful! They say me and my bf in the back and refuse to give me my orange juice (that was included!) and never apologized when I sent my purgatory eggs back in exchange for another disappointing omelette dish. I didn’t feel like asking for the manager, since it was too early for that. First and last time I’ve come to this place! Gross!

Situated at the Rittenhouse Hotel at Rittenhouse Square, Lacroix offers French and contemporary European cuisine. It has a beautiful traditional French decor. We have been there for lunch and dinner before, but this time for brunch. They have a wonderful Sunday brunch. Due to space constraints, they had to lay out some of the dishes in the kitchen. Eggs Benedict, Salmon, wild mushrooms are all very good. Good cheeses and excellent desert items.

My fiancee and I were graciously treated to lunch here for a birthday celebration. The restaurant ambiance is exquisite. The service is top rate. The cocktails were well made and tasty. The wine we ordered, a Malbec, was delicious. The food left nothing to be desired. The bread and butter disappeared instantly. The foie gras was excellent. I had a lobster role for lunch entree. My fiancee had lamb chops, which were very good. The broccoli was pureed, and not so favored. We will go back. You should try it, although it is rather pricey, the experience is worth it!

My wife and I dined at Lacroix again last night. This was our third visit and we were not disappointed at all. Lacroix was outstanding in all areas. One of the qualities we look for in a restaurant is consistency. Lacroix certain has that. We had the tasting menu with the wine paring. First let me say that you will not walk away feeling hungry. There was a nice variety and creativity in the presentations. All had spectacular flavor combinations. The wine pairings were spot on and enhanced the flavors of the food. In addition there was a good variety of whites, reds, and sweet and dry wines. One thing that I mentioned in an earlier review was the caliber of the staff at Lacroix. Each and every person waiting on us was knowledgeable about the food and the wine. They were also very personable and it was not stuffy or pretentious at all. Their one goal seemed to be to please us and make our meal a memorable experience, in which they succeeded. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and the staff helped make it a special experience. As before, I highly recommend Lacroix. BTW….the Sunday Brunch is just as fantastic. We will surely return.

Stayed at the Rittenhouse Hotel last week and had dinner at Lacroix with the family. Great specialty cocktails, food was excellent and service perfect. Oysters were especially good. Dinner is pricey but what you'd except for fine dining in lux hotel and great environment.

Great service, very attentive. You should try the Cheese steak and the lobster soup. Good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We were at Lacroix on Saturday, August 13th for the 9 course tasting and wine pairing dinner. We started with the Caviar service. Everything was incredible including the service. Then to top off the night, we were taken back to our hotel in a beautiful Jaguar, complments of the hotel/restaurant. Thanks again Lacroix. Wade and Charlie

There is a reason the Lacroix is one of the outstanding restaurants in Philly and that reason is excellence. Excellence in everything they do. You definitely get what you pay for here. Anything else I can say will just be repeating the exceptional accolades of other reviewers.

This was rumoured to be the best restaurant in Philly. Sometimes the rumours are right on the money. Located by Rittenhouse square and in the Ritt hotel. What a tremendous skilled and deliciously prepared and served epicurean delight. We started with their best caviar flight and martinis. Outstanding aged and beautifully presented. that's where we began! Then we did a wine pairing with the chef's menu. I think we had 6-7 glasses of unique perfectly paired wines and champagnes adroitly described by our sommelier. Each small plate was exquisite. Chilled small oysters, potato soup and caviar, turbot with escargot, main lobster, duck or aged beef and desserts. almost 4 hours of amazing experience. Well worth that special occasion you'll never forget. Thank you Cyn!

After arriving at The Rittenhouse hungry at 8PM we were able to get a table for 2 and decided to get the Chief's tasting menu with wine pairings. This turned out to be the prefect way to begin our brief stay in Philadelphia. The food was perfect and not one dish disappointed us. Each dish was better then the next with major kudos for the soft shell crab and crottin. But what was truly spectacular was the wine pairings by Master Wine Director, Justin Timsit. His unusual pairings made every dish a better surprise than the next. In fact, the entire serving staff was outstanding with special recognition to Alexander who so enjoyed describing each entre with excitement. Another special mention goes to the restaurant manager, Jean-Paul Cantave, who noticed that a large table next to us was getting a bit too happy and loud and moved us to a more private area to finish our cheese and deserts. Our thanks to the entire staff for making our first visit to the Rittenhouse so enjoyable.

we've eaten here several times over the years and this place doesn't disappoint. We had a once in a lifetime experience in the kitchen eating at the chef's table. Crazy good, course after course. Generally we enjoy the duck, raclette, wine list, and awesome after dinner drinks. some of the best Port, Madeira, and desert wines in the city.

Do not miss the Sunday Brunch....it is an experience in delicious food, fine service and diverse in season offerings. I have truly never been to one like this! It even takes you into all parts of the kitchen to different chef stations. I pity the poor pastry chef who has to spend the morning in the walk in freezer with the desserts! They also have 2 large rooms to accommodate bigger groups.

Nothing is more uplifting than dining at Lacroix overlooking Rittenhouse Square Savorying their French onion soup on a cold bitter day. The staff is attentive, the Food is great and the atmosphere doesn't get any better.

This brunch is excellent! From stone crabs, shrimp and oysters to smoked salmon, skirt steak and duck, it is a must for a special occasion! The chocolate pot de Creme with gran marnier was a highlight for dessert. The service however, was horrible. They poured me coffee and didn't bring cream, so I had to ask after about 8 minutes. The Brunch is $80 per person, so service should be top notch. The waiter was snide when I asked if I may have some cream. I used to wait tables in 5 star hotels, and high end restaurants, so I was quite surprised at the service.

This beautiful place at the Rittenhouse (where we stayed) was a great meeting place for us to meet up with visitors -- quiet, posh, great service, owas okay too.

We stayed at the Rittenhouse so we only had breakfast in the morning but the selection of food and the service made us wish we had time to have lunch or dinner there. Very high standard of service. Everyone is very friendly but still formal (in a good sense). Selection is tremendous and everything is first class.

We only had breakfast here and not the brunch, but it was such a pampering breakfast that it made it an experience! The food was great, but it was definitely the table settings, the view and the staff that made the food taste even better. It was pricey, but I felt like it was well worth it. Excellent staff, great food and wonderful experience. If bacon and eggs can be that good...it must be that good!

Sunday Brunch is a large, meandering buffet, and diners will traverse the entire restaurant in order to try every dish. Hot food is displayed in the kitchen itself, and other items are scattered around the restaurant. A very large selection of items is available, there is lots of creativity in the preparation, and everything is fabulous! A must when in Philadelphia!

We had brunch today. The service was good but nothing could elevate the food to even tolerable. It was universally cold and lukewarm to distasteful in flavor. Though we have had dinner at Lacroix in the past and enjoyed it this was just awful buffet food. We brought three friends and we were embarrassed by the meal. The quality of the establishment truly dropped for us today.

I haven't eaten at LaCroix through it's multiple iterations beginning when it opened. There have been four chefs. The current chef, Jonathan Cichon, has been there a while and converted it to a prix fixe menu. There are two levels of wine pairings available. You get a common appetizer (no choice), a choice between two for a second course, a third course, no choice and the last two courses a choice of two. The service was impeccable but the food was amazing. I eat at all the best places in Philadelphia. This restaurant is now among them, although it was not before. Highly recommended. And the ambiance is great, quiet, overlooking the park. A wonderful experience in every way.

It is pricey though. The three cheese appetizer was excellent and the lobster roll and cheesesteak were excellent as well. Recommended if you’re in the area

What a lovely brunch! Food was outstanding and it was the first time that I went to brunch and got a tour of the kitchen. They set up half the buffet in the kitchen, which was immaculate, with the kitchen staff there preparing food. The selection was over the top - Seafood Raw Bar (with caviar), salads and small apps that were creative and delicious, housemade charcuterie, cheese, interesting and varied entrees and deserts to die for. Very lovely.

My husband and I had brunch at Lacroix to celebrate our anniversary. The staff is very friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in until you leave - they truly care about your dining experience, and it was wonderful! So many unique food items to sample!! And because most are small bites, there is the opportunity to try a little of almost everything. The appetizers were exceptionally creative from foie gras s'mores to fried oyster po'boys to the best deviled eggs I have had, bar none. While a bit expensive, it was worth it. Hope to return again soon.

Had a great lunch here with a former business colleague. We both had the very tasty Cobb salad. I had it as on the menu with chicken, she substituted salmon for the chicken. Great location for a quiet lunch in Center City with great service.

Breakfast was included in our room rate so we enjoyed their express buffet which included eggs made to order and a buffet of hot meat items, house made granola and yogurt, fresh fruit, lox and your choice of toast. Service was awesome! And everything tasted fresh!

I don't know how many separate offerings were available; probably as many as 50, maybe more. Frankly, I don't like buffets, because they tend to be expensive, unless one has a beastly appetite and capacity, and -- almost without fail -- the food's not that great. As Tony Bourdain once advised, don't order the Sunday buffet brunch because most of the food comprises leftovers from the prior Monday-Saturday span. This buffet is not different, to my way of thinking, and -- in some respects -- is worse. Why? Because a prospective diner is not warned that the Sunday brunch buffet is mandatory. That's not a true biggie in most cases, but -- in this case -- it is. Why? The tab is $125 per person (not incl. tax and 20% gratuity), and waaaay not worth it. I, being an oyster lover, focused on the offerings on the half shell; a choice between West Coast and East Coast. I asked our server, Jorge, what kind of oysters were involved, like Raspberry Points or Wellfleets. "I'll find out and let you know," said Jorge, who never did it. Nor did he bring a chiller he promised for the sparkling wine we brought (at a $50/btl corkage fee). The house put out about a dozen oysters at a time, probably to discourage folks like me from taking 12. I didn't/couldn't. The oysters were not very good. It seemed as though they had been shucked earlier and were left in he kitchen for placement later. Not at all plump, nor were they very tasty. The caviar offerings were likewise mundane; maybe paddlefish or maybe something lesser. The blinis offered were tiny, I presume to discourage heavy use of what was available. Ah yes, all sorts of other foods, not one of which at our table got a big thumbs up. My usual approach to high-end restos is to get three or four appetizers, to test the chef's creativity and to experience more than one or two plates. Bottom line: Bourdain was right. And in this case, so-so food accompanied by so-so service amounted to a value far, far less than the just-not-worth-it price tag. I'm confident that the resto will consider responding to my review, expressing regret that I (and the others who accompanied me) did not enjoy the offering, blah blah. We won't be back. Save the regrets.

Generally I avoid tasting menus, but I'm so glad I didn't this one. The restaurant only offers a tasting menu. Usually, I'm exhausted and sated at the end of a tasting meal, but not this time. Lacroix officially offers four courses plus dessert but they intersperse the published offerings with little tasty surprises that serve as palate cleansers between a seafood course and a meat course, for example. The size of each dish is perfect. Big enough so you really have an adequate taste of the dish and small enough so you don't have to force yourself to go on to the next. They do offer some choices along with fixed items. And when you make your reservations, you can ask that certain things not be included like shellfish, for example, or nuts. The chef will accommodate your requests. The restaurant is a little heavy on the baked sweets at the end, but that is my proclivity. I don't have much of a sweet tooth. The physical setting of the restaurant is beautiful with a lovely view of Rittenhouse Square. We were even given a ride back to our hotel. It was probably a slow night.

This was our the third visit over four years. The first two were outstanding. This last was not. The service was stuffy. The huge wine list was expensive for what it was and hard to read. The main course in a fixed menu was quite good but the others much less so. All of this was combined with a very high price. Normally not interested in negative reviewing but given the price it seemed appropriate.

We came to Lacroix to celebrate my birthday, and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant was fantastic, and the staff went above and beyond to make me feel special. I couldn't have asked for a better evening. The menu is set as a tasting menu and then we opted for the reserve wine pairings to go with it. This proved to be a wonderful decision. The wines were very unique, and we enjoyed that we were given such in-depth descriptions of them including where they were from, what made them special, and then very specific tasting notes. We were very impressed with both the selection and the presentation. The food likewise, was superb. Each course was delicious and the wines paired perfectly with the flavors. Everything about our visit - the food, the wines, and most of all, the service was impeccable. It was the highlight of our weekend in Philly and definitely one of the best celebratory dinners we've had.

2nd time. 1st time was about 4yrs ago. At that time my then 13 year old son said, "There are two restaurants that have made me smile, Per Se and LaCroix." So post-covid, with an older but wiser son in tow, we checked LaCroix out. Were they all that, post-covid with 4 years of maturation under the belt? I must say yes even with a new chef, LaCroix delivered. Culinary technique? Check. Creativity? Check. Bang for the buck? CHECK! We had dined at Gabriel Kreuther's in NYC a few days before. While GK's best surpassed Lacroix (smoked sauerkraut with sturgeon and aged duck breast. Best duck breast ever!), I must say LaCroix just slays it in terms of area under the curve. Every dish was very good to awesome. At $155 per 6 courses compared to $255 at GK, LaCroix wins. Mind you, GK is no slouch. With Manhattan pricing in mind, it was worthwhile. However. I must give the overall value to LaCroix. Mind you, I have not been to Parc. Vernick, etc. in Philly. However, I would be perfectly happy to go to LaCroix again and again.

Husband and I came for a pre-holiday treat. Once seated we were greeted nicely and drinks came timely. However upon receiving the drinks we were immediately barraged with an amuse bouche and bread and our first course all at the same time. We asked what was the rush? No adequate answer. Following courses were better paced and delicious, however the wine pairings were 3 similar whites and one red too light to accompany the braised ribs. Dessert was quite average. Bill totaled $550.

The greatest brunch I ever had.The variety of high quality food matched with superior service equals a great brunch experience

My wife and I have visited Lacroix for the first time and were really impressed by the inspired tasting menu built around the stone fruit, adventurous wine pairing and impeccable service. While I am not qualified to analyze particular aspect of each dish, I do have some experience with several very fine tasting menu-wine pairings in other US cities. The meal at Lacroix was one of the absolute best experiences in my two decades of roaming around the world. From surprising and inspired ingredient combinations to multi-layered and complex flavors, all six dishes were individually memorable and added up to a deeply satisfying journey, similar to a great show, well-made movie or an engrossing book. The service was impeccable in its timing and commentary about the food-wine pairing, which added tremendously to our enjoyment of the meal. While it is definitely a special occasion restaurant, I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable food experience.

Worst high end meal experience. Got the tasting menu and wine paring which by the way costs $500 per couple. Started off with wait staff pouring the first glass of water all over the table, yup they missed the glass. Asked for a new table cloth but they said it's water and will dry, so entire meal I had huge wet spot in front of me. As for the meal, it was a very slow start we waited awhile and when the pairing started, half way through the entire meal they forgot about us, no food came out for 30 minutes. When food did arrive they skipped over dishes and had the entire pairing so messed up that we were getting dessert with wine from 2 dishes ago. This was an anniversary dinner and they totally bombed our meal. Never will go back. They comped our meal but anybody willing to spend $500 for dinner isn't looking for a free meal, I wanted a 4 star experience. This restaurant is all hype and no delivery. They should read the book "unreasonable hospitality" and learn what a good dining experience should be. I get better service at Applebees.

We have dined at Lacroix many times and it is still perfect. The food is creative and the flavor combinations are spectacular. We have the tasting menu with the wine pairing. They do an outstanding job with the pairings. The flavors of the food explode in your mouth when paired well. Every server was knowledgeable, and engaging. It was a pleasure to talk to them, and to hear them explain the ingredients or the history of the wine and why they chose it. Lacroix is not at all stuffy. Request a seat overlooking Rittenhouse Square. We will be back again.

Came to Philadelphia for the flower show. I was on my last day and decided to do afternoon tea at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room before heading back to NY. It was raining hard and I was glad I was indoors enjoying my tea and desert. It is relaxing and quiet. Nice décor too. A good way to end the trip

If you like buffets, this is one of the best. It's an upscale buffet in an upscale restaurant. Although they have raw oysters, smoked salmon, caviar and shrimp cocktail, they didn't have crab legs. It's $75 per person and offering crab legs would have definitely made it worthwhile. However, it's still well worth the $75.00 per person. Service is inconsistent. I've eaten there 4 times. 2 times the service was excellent. The other time it was very good. And once it was adequate.

Could not have had a better experience. Service was outstanding and food quite tasty. Perhaps the best ever Lobster Bisque. Waiter anticipated our every need - attentive, not overbearing, suggestions when asked - just excellent.

Very friendly service and great classic Philly location. Went there for a quick early business dinner that required a quiet place for a conversation. But when asked if we wanted to join the five course, fixed menu (turn left, main restaurant) or dine a la carte (turn right, far end of the restaurant), we turned right because we didn’t have enough time. That was a mistake. The selection was more of a bar menu than Lacroix. The food was just ok. The setting felt like the staff cafeteria. Our waiter’a charm and understanding of the situation saved the day. But hard to find a reason to come back, I’m afraid.

Had heard about this brunch forever so finally went....and were amazed! Endless and exquisite choices from various settings in the restaurant as well as the sparkling kitchen. Unbelievable variety and tastes; even if you don’t know what it is, it will be delicious. Lovely service is icing on the cake.

I think this was the worst restaurant experience I had in my life. The staff was extremely rude, starting with the hostess. We had a reservation for a 2pm birthday brunch with my boyfriend and when we asked if we could sit at another table further away from a crowd of 8 people, we were told that “that table is not set, so you have to sit here”. There were at least 10 open tables around, so it was not busy at all and they closed at 4pm. We didn’t want to start an argument, so we just sat down. The hostess asked to take my coat and I said I just want to take something out of my pocket, which was met with “We’re not going to go through your pockets, you can keep your coat”. Then, when I asked for a spoon to stir sugar for our tea, the waiter said, “I imagine it’s hard to stir with your finger”. There were two tables, who also had a birthday and got a candle in their dessert, my boyfriend did not receive one, even though the reservation said that it was a birthday brunch. At the end, we received a confusing check that had a gratuity line and every time I asked about it, since a grand total and a total charged were different amounts, a different team member kept taking the check away and returning with a new copy. A third person told us that “we are not in the business of stealing” and “I have no control over what’s written on the check”. The food was amazing and I feel like if I’m going to spend $320 dollars for a vegan brunch, I wouldn’t receive such rude attitude on such a special day. They've completely ruined my boyfriend's birthday.

Have dined at LaCroix about three times and have always felt pampered and elegant. However, my most recent experience was a little lacking. While the food was still excellent, the service felt rushed and inattentive and inexperienced. The sommelier mispronounced wine terminology. Our server seemed distracted. Water was not replenished. Little touches that put a dining experience above others were lacking.

Let me just say I have been to lacroix for brunch on Sundays many times over the years. It's absolutely the best splurge you can do. I have not however been there since covid hit. We decided to try dinner. Celebration of 2 birthdays and anniversary with my husband and 2 kids 12 and 14. At first the waitress said my daughter (12) didn't have to get the tasting menu. Then it was only if she orders from the kids menu. So 3 if us were ordering the tasting menu, my daughter wanted just crab legs as a dinner. This is 50+ entree so I'm not sure why they would not allow it. Grilled cheese and other "kid" options were only it. Waitress who was very nice just wishishy washy for lack of a better word. So we all ended up having to do the tasting bc she did not want a grilled cheese. Anywho, the tastings were just good, nothing great or worth bragging about. 4 of the tastings served had caviar all over them. It was good but had I known this I definitely would have said please omit that for the kids. One serving was enough , I even got sick of all that caviar dish after dish. Compared to Jean George, Townsend, vernick , this was at the total bottom. For 900plus Dinner I feel you should be able to get what you want without feeling belittled. The manager wrote me personally after I had emailed them directly about the review. Their response : I was totally taken back my your review , I'll look into it. Never heard from them again. My advice is go to Jean George, beautiful view of the city, best service and great food. It's basically the same prices as Lacroix but you'll leave Lacroix underwhelmed. Trust me.

We planned to dine here for a special occasion. Fortunately we tried it a few days before and decided once was more than enough. Service was adequate. The room was really draughty. The food was weird. No conventional courses just vegetables and then meat or fish served separately. Vegetables were VERY salty and could have been anything. Meat course was literally a lump of undercooked pork on a plate. No sided. No garnish. Nothing. Just too much seasoning to taste the meat.

Without question this is the most elaborate buffet in Philadelphia! The setting on Rittenhouse Square is unsurpassed and the amazing variety of food makes this the top choice for a special occasion or just an indulgent brunch

Nice atmosphere, staff was very accommodating to a special request to the dish, and the food was delicious. Would definitely return during my next visit.

Breakfast at LaCroix, in a sunny window overlooking Rittenhouse Square, is a feast for the senses. Beautifully presented food, impeccable service.

Overlooking Rittenhouse Square, it doesn’t get any better on any given Sunday. The Staff is so attentive. The kitchen is not to be believed. You are overwhelmed by all the choices of appetizers, main courses and the desserts. Go hungry and sample everything. You will not be disappointed And such a fabulous view of the Square,

No wonder that Lacroix has been around for long. Located in the best hotel, in a prime location, it shows how a good restaurant has to be managed. Impeccable service, good quality food and somewhat reasonable prices. Lunch could offer a little more variety on the menu. Go there for brunch: one of the very best and most generous I ever experienced, anywhere in the world.

We dined on a Saturday evening for a birthday dinner. From the beginning of the meal to the end of the meal, the food and service were wonderful. When we made the reservation, we made them aware of food allergies of the party and the chef had already made adjustments to the menu to accommodate ahead of time. The staff and sommelier are all extremely knowledgeable yet friendly and not pretentious in the least. They explained each course of food as well as the corresponding wine pairings and advised as to why each was chosen with each. We have been to multi-course tastings both home and abroad, and this meal was up there with the best of them, especially for the reasonable price. With wine pairings it was around $250.00 per person which was well worth it. As for the meal: We started with an amuse bouche of oysters; First course was a delicious gazpacho; Second Course was an amazing foie gras; Third Course was Cod; Fourth Course was a lamb chop; Fifth Course was a bris like cheese; and Sixth Course was a nectarine flavored dessert. While they did provide small after dinner petit fours, probably the only thing missing was a good chocolate element to the dessert. The pace of the meal was well spread out over approximately three hours. We would highly recommend Lacroix and will definitely be back ourselves the next time we visit Philadelphia.

I am a foodie and have eaten in the finest restaurants in Paris, NY and Switzerland . I have never experienced such a wonderful brunch anywhere else. What a thrill to have Lacroix in Philadelphia, THE place enjoy a spectacular brunch, offering top quality ingredients, beautiful presentation (stations throughout the restaurant and IN THE KITCHEN!), creative choices, perfect service and great ambiance.

My wife and and were at the Rittenhouse Hotel for 6 days. We ate at Lacroix a number of times; lounge for light dinner, lounge for dessert only, breakfast buffet, breakfast a la carte and a leisurely celebration dinner. All were first rate. The highlight was most certainly the tasting menu dinner. The staff is professionally friendly and knowledgeable of their craft. Don't miss it.

I had breakfast on Sunday March 1st The atmosphere was very inviting everyone wished my mom a happy birthday.my mom and I had the buffet which included all of the traditional breakfast items.the views of rittenhouse square made our breakfast wonderful very good service after going to the flower show we came back to lacroix for Sunday brunch my mom and I were very impressed with the variety of food options and we actually went inside the kitchen for other brunch items the staff was outstanding a special thank you to jean Paul manager and Courtney server assistant for making my moms birthday so speceial

We had very high expectations. the Foie gras was among best ever tasted, other food was all top notch until the Angus burger which had been requested medium, came out like a hockey puck. The waiter, was generous and did not hesitate to offer an alternative, or to take it off the check, but the damage was done...looked forward to this experience for months... was a little disappointed.

Our second dinner here and Chris, Max & the entire staff again made it memorable......starting with a "special" menu for my wife that matched her pescatarian preferences. Service is personable and prompt with many extras included making it a nice value as well as delicious. Highly recommend.

Lacroix is absolutely spectacular!! Since we were staying at the Rittenhouse, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there (not on the same day, of course). The food and drink were perfect!! The service was exceptional!! The atmosphere and ambiance was great!! Such nice people who work there and they were so kind in giving us these little chocolate Tiffany cakes to celebrate our anniversary. Kudos to the chefs and all of the staff!! Definitely going back when we visit Philly!!

While Dinner at Lacroix is an experience that should not be missed, their Sunday Brunch is by far the BEST in Philadelphia and surrounding areas.... a true culinary experience

Was there with a colleague from Brazil. A reservation could be made for Friday evening without a problem. Besides us, maybe one third of tables were seated. We were surprised to learn that only the tasting menu for 110$ was available but we were OK with it. There were wine pairing options, but we took a bottle of a nice Stellenbosch red from a quite extensive wine menu. Prices were pretty high, no shortage for bottles for 500$ plus. The tasting menu was great, amuse geule and courses shared the theme of asparagus. Service was friendly, attentive and quick (except with the payment- I see this in many high class places, good service but the last and lasting experience of paying spoils the whole experience). Would go there again, it is one of the best food places in Philly. Same from my colleague.

The choice was the set dinner menu. The single oyster amuse bouche was excellent. The first course we chose one from the two choices, we had the beetroot, tuna and watermelon. We were informed there was a substitution of Bronzini. A delicious start to the dinner. The entree choice of duck or beef seemed a little too limiting, we chose the duck which was a little tough though cooked well. A dessert of lemon soufflé was cakey and rather too much and certainly not as light as my soufflés. The restaurant looks over the grass square and is attractive, the service was excellent and one waiter quite knowledgeable about his wine. There were few diners so the restaurant was pleasantly quiet but sadly their prom guests in a nearby room were making far too much noise.

Excellent ambience waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing exquisite service nice views of the park. creative and flavorful dishes

I love this restaurant! We stay in the hotel, had breakfast and also the New Year Eve dinner here. It was warmest service you can find! They gave you good recommendations about dishes choices, help you for all the arrangements. We love it! And the set menu for the dinner is fabulous!

Beautiful setting overlooking the square, wonderful service, excellent coffee and house baked croissant.Avocado toast with plenty of fresh crab meat, absolutely divine.Very good bagel and smoked salmon.

Second Thanksgiving dining at La Croix. The holiday buffet included not only turkey but numerous appetizers, sides and desserts. What a treat

This is the first online restaurant review I’ve ever posted. Even joined Trip Advisor specifically so that I could pen this. La Croix, Saturday morning, was dreadful: service was slow, the food was mediocre, the atmosphere smug. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with salmon and was amused to find a piece of salmon the size of a quarter on a soggy English muffin, with cold hollandaise congealing atop a viscous egg. I asked my server why the portion of salmon was so small, and he responded that it was because the fish was so good. One could hardly blame him. The rest of the plate was filled with inedible potato cubes. For the price paid, I was shocked. I’ll never return.

The food was actually very good, with a very inventive menu and the service was on point. We enjoyed our Library Bar cocktails and the courses were nicely timed and rather inventive. Really enjoyed the risotto and the pumpkin dish, along with the short rib. After dinner, rather than topping off the evening with an espresso or cappuccino and dessert, we were taken to an open room with a table of 5 finger food desserts that you would see at a catered affair and self served coffee. What a joke! $200 per person and no real dessert, no espresso and no service at all. Ruined the evening and made me think those in charge should refresh on hospitality, because they failed here. Fine dining and buffet NEVER mix......EVER. Cannot recommend and after the response I got will never go back. Stick to Vetri, Vernick, Zahav.....this place needs work.

I dined at Lacroix right after reopening due to the pandemic. I was impressed with the friendly and welcoming staff as well as the delicious avocado toast and pressed juice. The breakfast was delicious and all safety precautions were evident at the restaurant. I was treated as though I was a special guest!

Lacroix Restaurant in Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Square is the place to plan a scrumptious feast of delectable, hand-crafted morsels that will be the envy of French royalty. The best brunch I have ever eaten. Lacroix already boasts a long-standing reputation as having the finest French cuisine in center city, The staff id above-and-beyond in their graciousness. The decor has the unique balance of an opulent, chic hotel-restaurant, where everyone feels welcome. The luxurious, buffet-style brunch was brimming with the finest hors d'oeuvres, both the savory and the sweet. The extensive menu featured all of Lacroix's signature dishes, including savory canapés, sandwiches, patés, salads, and other dishes with some of the most unique combinations of textures and flavors I have tried.

By far, one of the very best breakfasts, a perfect experience in every aspect. The food was just amazing, from simple little things like croissants and artisanals butter, to the fantastic Lobster and Caviar to the hearty Benedict with Country Ham to the freshest Melon and Berry plate. That, to be honest, did not come to us as surprise, for both the executive chef Cichon to the Chef de Cuisine Eric Leveillee are among the most talented best chefs in the North-East, proudly carrying on the glorious culinary tradition of Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix, the father-founder of the fine dining in Philly. The service is impeccable, the dining area is airy and spacious offering the magnificently calming views of the Rittenhouse Square, all of the above are the key secrets to make Lacroix's patrons highly content. We would recommend to opt for the a la carte menu, not that the restaurant's breakfast buffet is in any way inferior, but the former will allow you to order a highly prized Lobster and Caviar dish. Very affordable prices for an institution of that caliber and rank. We can't wait to sample Lacroix's Chef's Tasting Menu; hopefully very soon.

As others have written Lacroix is pricey, but that is because it is worth it. We left dinner happy we dined there and thankful for the experience. While the food is amazing it is the graciousness, sincerity and solicitous of the entire staff (which seems quite large) that enhanced our meal.

Used to be one of my fav restaurants when I studied at Wharton. Went back with a group of five friends yesterday- unanimously agreed that the food quality has deteriorated significantly. Firstly, the flavors were incredibly lacking. I ordered trout with vegetables and sauce, and in spite of the sauce, it was still incredibly dry and under seasoned. My stomach was also upset after. He ambiance and attentive service remains lovely, which is why I am giving it three stars. With all other great food alternatives in Philly, would be ok to pass on this one.

Amenities are top notch. Charming setting right by the park. Lacroix dining experience is what you would expect excellent service and beautiful setting! The breakfast is buffet style which was something that I was not expecting for such a nice setting. Parking is available but it is valet service. I would recommend for a business meeting since you can actually hear each other.

We celebrated our 42nd Anniversary. I can't point out exactly what was it that didn't make this experience an amazing one we expected it to be, but unfortunately it wasn't. Ambiance and service were wonderful, but unfortunately the food didn't raise up to our expectations. Some dishes were tasting great, some were very good, some were not so good and though we had lot's of amuses, intermezzos and petite after dessert treats nothing was really amazing or memorable except of the bread basket with incredibly tasty goat's milk butter. I guess these ups and downs in taste department kind of spoiled a bit otherwise supposedly great experience it could be. At the same time we'd like to say huge thank you to the serving staff for a wonderful service we've received and don't want to discourage other patrons of enjoying this restaurant. They say "tastes are different", so please try for yourself and who knows, you might like the food better then we had.

Made a reservation and were promptly seated in front of a very boorish man who was standing behind my chair yelling into his phone. Not a great start. After ten minutes we were given menus and after 15 minutes orders were taken. Soup was ordered by one of our party which was slow in coming and even slower to be removed rom the table when finishe. Again the wait began!! Our food arrived and the Ceaser Salad had no dressing and my hamburger was sort of a hockey puck, totally over cooked and cold. Many minutes after we finished eating we asked for the chek and mentioned that the meal had taken way to long for lunch. At this point the maitre d berated the person who had ordered the soup as having held up the meal, very unprofessional... Don’t go for lunch when the third string staff is on!
Lovely pricey food
Had the tasting menu during my stay at the Rittenhuse in March 2015 [not May as listed]. The food was excellnt! Ceative, beautiful, delicious. Courses included: Amuse bouche #1. Ramp custard, trout roe, sprouts, crispy bits. Bread, butter and a nice glass of dry muscadet; Amuse bouche #2 Gin and tonic granita with fennel and cucumber; Aged NY strip, favas, artichoke heart and artichoke puree, breakfast radish; Foie gras torchon, chopped rhubarb and celery, beets, toasted brioche, a swath of beet puree and globules of rhubarb jelly French white asparagus, avocado puree, scallions, prosciutto - with nasturtium leaves. The best dish!); 3 sorbets: apricot mint, blackberry, mango...and some tiny mignardises. It was reasonably expensive - more than I was intending to spend for dinner, but certainly worth it. The service, too, ws marvelous - at this excellent hotel.
