Excellent Breakfast Service

By Newmania |

Our group had breakfast at this restaurant daily while we stayed at the River House next door. The meals were tasty, the menu covered a variety of preferences, and the service was good. The breakfast potatoes were delicious- deep fried and came in a generous serving. Prices were reasonable for the location. My servers were friendly and efficient.

Great Food!

By Kimberly K |

We enjoyed brunch at Land and Lake Kitchen on Thanksgiving Day following the parade. We had made a reservation earlier in the month to be sure we would have a table. It worked perfectly. The food (croissant sandwich, avocado benedict and smoked salmon omelette) we all ordered was delicious, and our server attentive. The atmosphere gave way to an enjoyable time of conversation as a family before we ventured off to explore the city.

Very good Happy Hour choices!

By Paradise27530196077 |

Excellent Happy Hour. Good food, good prices. Not too busy but made a reservation. Service was very good. Marlon, the manager, was quick to solve an oversight. Disappointed that we could not go back a second time as plans changed. Short walk from the Hyatt was appreciated as it was -25 outside! Would recommend the burger, fries, wings and pickled veg. Drink specials and beer were good happy hour options. Will definitely return on our next visit!

Infron of Trump tower

By Jason M |

Nice sunny day for a change, decided to sit outside for a drink, nice local brews, also had a chillli, which was nice. The service is friendly and even though they dropped my beer over the table-It was free of charge. Its a good stop and rest place to view the traffic and people watch, as there are some sights to behold.

Strange vibe

By enfp66 |

From the hood for 20 years...you guys have lots of servers helping out, but 4 diff people stopping by the table is like stepping out into an airport in Thailand. Folks are staring at ya, probably just trying hard to serve, but you could tell it's being forced. Managers, please tone it down a notch. LM in LS was cool in 2007, but this is not fine dining dudes. Calm down, please. They also have the same chairs as the Warbler patio...they ain't too comfy. Can we bring stadium seats next time?

Disappointing

By Yvan B |

We entered as it was close to our hotel on a rainy night and left disappointed with both service and the food. I had fettuccine Alfredo that was as liquid as soup (skim milk instead of cream?) , my wife asked for butter which never came, the staff was inexperienced and overwhelmed, avoiding eye contact. Order was taken out of sequence relative to arrival, our server came back after food was delivered and asked  « how is every thing » and walked away before I had a chance to comment on the fettuccine. I ate the mushrooms and left the rest. It looked like only one person spoke English, which may explain why things were slow, all except the bill which came as soon as the plates were removed. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Great lunch at Land & Lake

By metrochica |

Had a tasty chicken sandwhich and fries and my husband got a hot dog with all the fixings. We were there later in the afternoon so the bartender was our server. She did a good job juggling the bar and a few tables.

Interesting Mac & Cheese Egg

By The_Loup_Garou |

On a December business trip, and stay at the LondonHouse, I was back downstairs at Land & Lakes Kitchen, the lower-lobby restaurant. As an HHonors Diamond, I had a dining credit, and breakfast at Land & Lakes Kitchen was just the thing. I had dined here on several previous trips, and with one exception, always enjoyed my food. I was seated across from the attractive bar, and had my menu in-hand immediately. I started with a glass of “bubbles,” and ordered the Finke’s Blanc de Blanc California sparkling wine ‘17. This was a new sparkler to me, and other than being served in an “Old Fashion,” cocktail glass, was quite nice. I went with the Breakfast Mac & Cheese ($12) w/ smoked cheddar, mornay, sunny-side up egg and bacon (crisp). This was an interesting breakfast dish, but was quite tasty, plus the bacon was done perfectly. Throughout my meal, service was very good, and quite friendly. The room sort of filled, but then emptied, as many headed out for work, and meetings. The noise level never got above “average,” and I had an enjoyable time. As we have another booking at this hotel, I know that I will be returning to Land & Lakes Kitchen.

Had breakfast here

By David M |

Good service and food! I liked that there was a bar/counter area to eat at if all the tables were full.

Consistently good. Comprehensive menu.

By David H |

Had five nights in Chicago at the nearby River Hotel, and had either breakfast or dinner at Land and Lake most days. Menu provides a wide range of choices for all meals. Recommend getting there for the happy hour. The wait staff gave tips and recommendations on places to visit (thanks Michael) and every recommendation proved accurate.

Great breakfast and lunch options

By Pet37 |

I enjoyed two great meals at this restaurant. Both meals were great. Decent portions, reasonable prices and good service. Nice place!

Lovely brunch

By st0401 |

Had brunch here on a lovely sunny morning on a long weekend in Chicago. The tables outside have a lovely setting, but indoors looked really nice too. The brunch menu was lovely, eggs Benedict and croque monsieur were very tasty in particular. And the mimosa breakfast deal was great value! Service was really very very good, very attentive without being in your face. Would strongly recommend a visit and would love to go back and try for lunch/dinner next time I am there.

Land Benedict - Not My Favorite

By The_Loup_Garou |

Land & Lake Kitchen is a restaurant on the ground-level floor of the LondonHouse Chicago, on East Upper Wacker Drive. During our October stay, I had one breakfast there, and it was OK. The service was very good, and both friendly and efficient. The food? Well, as I said “OK.” The restaurant can be entered from the lower “lobby” area of the hotel, or from the sidewalk on East Upper Wacker Dr. It is an eclectic blend of architecture and décor, with an open kitchen, a bar area, and then both interior and exterior seating, but no one was dining al fresco, as the weather was gloomy and cold. Though they serve Breakfast/Brunch, Lunch and Dinner, I only dined there for Breakfast. I had their “Land Benedict,” with Canadian bacon, two poached eggs, a vinegar béarnaise sauce, on a “house-made biscuit.” For me, the biscuit just did not work, and the béarnaise sauce left something to be desired. The poached eggs were fine, as was the Canadian bacon. Maybe not the right dish to order? I love a great Eggs Benedict, and especially being from New Orleans, where there are so many famous versions. I also order this dish, in so very many locations, and have encountered many wondrous examples. Unfortunately, this was just not one of those. When we return to the LondonHouse next month, I will give Land & Lake Kitchen another try, but not the “Land Benedict.” I will also explore their Lunch menu, but not sure if I will make it there for lunch, as this is going to be another very short trip, before we have to fly to San Francisco for even more meetings.

Average food and service but nice location.

By Dee-Ann |

The food was very average. I had the pork chop and fries for dinner. It was fine. Although service was terribly slow. I had the avocado and goats cheese sourdough this morning and it was fine too. I was staying at the hotel and it was very convenient. I would go back for convenience but nothing else.

Great service, good breakfast for adjoining hotel

By RacingSnake_uk |

I ate here every morning for a week whilst on business. It's a shame that whilst they can be accessed from the London House Hotel, there is no tie-in, meaning I could not charge the breakfast back to my room. Nevertheless, the breakfast was reasonably priced, always came out in reasonable time, and the guys serving always kept me topped up with coffee (and one to go).

Friendly, fun place

By Road294570 |

Diverse menu, good food, great location - enjoyed dinner there. The house wine was generously poured and the staff was very friendly. We were just finishing on the patio when it started raining, so we moved inside and they brought us fresh water and wine.

Worst service ever

By Thomas B |

Don’t go there. I have never experienced such a bad service. Complete waste of money. We had hotel vouchers to the place and ended up giving them up. The food is okay. The coffee isn’t the 4,5 $ worth and the refill you have to fight for your life to get. Never again.

A Better Breakfast This Visit

By The_Loup_Garou |

We were back to the LondonHouse Chicago in December, and I was down to the Land & Lake Kitchen, for breakfast. I had learned a lesson, on my previous visit, and steered clear of their Eggs Benedict, over Biscuits. Instead, I tried their Breakfast Mac & Cheese, from the “Midwestern” section of their breakfast menu. I added a glass of the Finke’s Blanc de Blanc, California sparkler, and this proved to be a great idea. My service was good, and so was the breakfast. I think that I have “broken the code,” regarding the breakfast orders.

Delicious brunch with a view

By Bubblechoc |

We stayed in a hotel nearby and were glad that there was no waiting time at this place. We sat outside and ordered Avocado Benedict and Avocado toast with sunny side eggs. Both was absolutely delicious. The coffee was fairly strong, but fit well to our brunch. Great panorama view and attentive and quick service!

Great place for early evening

By maceng-chattan |

Its Happy Hour is amazing - great beers and super bowls of food at good prices ofr city centre. A little noisy sometimes, but good service and pleasant fellow-diners

Late lunch or early dinner

By 042143 |

Was rec by the concierge at the Hyatt Regency as we wanted something close by. Only couple block walk and nice enough to sit outside. They were starting their happy hour pricing and my wife had the Buffalo chicken sandwich as well as the garlic/Parmesan fries. She thought the sandwich was good, not outstanding. Huge dish of fries that thought ok also. I had the house salad and a Reuben sandwich. The salad was outstanding mixture of lettuces, cocktail tomatoes, shaved cucumber and a tangy creamy dressing. The Reuben was nice size and flavorful. The service was good and our drinks were replenished when needed w/o asking.

Good food & very good service

By B G |

Great location. Close to the river. Plenty of choice on the menu. Great food and reasonably priced. Very helpful and friendly staff.

Delicious burgers & lovely atmosphere

By Nick W |

Stopped in for an early evening meal after a day of sightseeing in Chicago. My wife & I both had the burger, which we both agreed was delicious. Overall, our meal was great & very well priced, especially given the prime location. Our server was very attentive but not pushy, and the atmosphere was nice & relaxed, so much so that we came back in after walking our dinner off for a couple of drinks at the bar before heading back to our hotel.

Great breakfast menu!

By BuckandDee |

Terrific hotel restaurant. The breakfast options ranged from typical American fare to unique options like avocado, goat cheese and egg sandwich. Reasonably priced, good service.

3.5 stars for good not fantastic food

By John S |

Review of breakfast and one dinner. Service was above average. Food was good but restaurant could be better. Improvements for breakfast: they could get better coffee, also the menu is heavy on egg dishes, toast not included with omelets, potatoes were overdone. Dinner needs a veggie burger for a choice. A little pricey but it is a hotel and Honors members get a discount at breakfast. Staff was consistently nice and professional.

Good food

By DeepikaThapliyal |

Came here with my colleagues for lunch on a Sunday. We got a 25% off voucher which was great. I had the avocado on sourdough which was yum while my colleagues enjoyed their American breakfast. My colleagues came here again for dinner and the menu was completely different and very good they said. Servers take some time to get the food but that seems to be the case with every restaurant in Chicago.

The Friendliest staff in Chicago

By Shane090909 |

While staying in the London House in Chicago, I frequented this spot on a regular basis! I must say they are the most welcoming and friendly staff I have encountered in some time. Being an Irish man in Chicago and travelling alone they made me feel like I was home all the time. A special shout out to Matty, Bobby, Danny Olivia and Paris. My advice to management is to keep them all as they are a credit to your business and hard to find and provides a continuous 5 star service everyday with a smile. I will reccomend!

Wait Staff

By PapiRuh |

Jhony waited on us for breakfast and from the minute he came to our table we were smitten by his smile. We all know what good service looks and feels like. Jhony’s smile had good service written all over it. It’s all the little things that make a short vacation memorable, and our breakfast at Land and Lake before heading to Midway, was one of them. Fast and friendly service combined with quality food is a winning combination. Thanks Jhony The couples from Buffalo

The worst luxury Hilton hotel

By T T |

The Londonhouse and Land and Lake restaurant was terrible. The Hilton Honors breakfast was the worst I've seen anywhere as a Diamond member. DO NOT waste your time at this restaurant. I've attached photos of the menu, which you cannot access anywhere on Londonhouse's website (suspicious). The breakfast only includes a donut, granola, or oatmeal (enough for a child, maybe). The other option is to go a la carte. Then they give you $5 off your items, however, they charge you for the coffee - NOT worth it. Londonhouse's image and quality is significantly lowered because of their affiliation with this restaurant. My stay was ruined because of this restaurant. What a waste.

Nice food at a good price

By Silke P |

We ate here for breakfast and the portions were a good size. Value for money is good service was also good.

Great place to have breakfast

By meezer3 |

Next door to our hotel with a wonderful view of the Chicago River. Breakfast was hot and plentiful and the waitress attentive. Luck had it that we were seated up front in a booth along side a window so we had a great view. We were very pleased with our meal and left feeling full and satisfied. Ready to tackle Open House Chicago which was that weekend.

Quality place for quick eats

By OhioJLM |

We stopped in twice for a quick meal(don’t think fast) during our stay. We were treated well and enjoyed our food.

Quick & easy

By Patty K |

Super place for catching up with friends. Outstanding staff and delicious food; something for everyone.

Meh

By jpatter1 |

Server recommended the Chicago baked chicken. No bread arrived. Waited 30(?) min. Dish came out piping hot, but chicken was overcooked. Couldn't eat half of it. Green beans were good. would not go back.

Horrible Breakfast

By JamesE339 |

As a Hilton Honors member, I used my voucher for a breakfast during my recent stay. Voucher value was awful, and the breakfast matched. Horrible meal, horrible service. McDonalds would have been a better choice .....

Nice outdoor seating

By AfishnamedArthur |

The outdoor seating was enjoyable. We found the service to be prompt although not sure how the service would be during a normal lunch as there were very few customers when we arrived. The food was acceptable.

Great value

By Tim O |

We've been to Chicago several times and usually stay in this area and have tried most of the restaurants. This one is brand new with the London House hotel and we were very impressed. The atmosphere is modern/casual and the food was fantastic. We had the chicken which was cooked in an exquisite garlic sauce, and the fish fry which was battered Walleye. We're from Canada where Walleye/Pickerel is our fish of choice so to have it here was fantastic. The other thing we liked about this restaurant is the food was priced right. After blowing our retirement savings in one of the steak houses the night before, it was nice to see great food at a very reasonable price. Five stars all the way.

Don’t miss it!

By csprad9511 |

This was a fantastic brunch! I would’ve taken a pic but I was so in love at first bite. The service was great & the food,YES!

Decent lunch spot

By Hannah H |

Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Monday in January. Hardly anyone there. We had the Northsider, a large frank on a sesame bun, smothered in peppers, grape tomatoes, pickle slices and mustard. Satisfying. Accompanied by fries that were inconsistent in size.

Ok breakfast

By Florencia V |

We went here to have breakfast; and it was quite good but nothing out of the world. The coffee was horrible; not tasty at all, they should definitely change it if they are found to continue offering it. The staff was good but once you ordedered they really don't care anymore; except for the check (wich they bring without you asking for it) as if they want you to go. The place is good but not really what you would hope for.

Food was good but expensive for breakfast.

By UsedCarKing |

I had breakfast here while on business. Quality was good. The land Benedict was well prepared although I like an English muffin rather than the in-house biscuit it came on. I also like my fried potatoes well done, but that was my fault for not ordering them well done. Service was fast. Coffee was hot. With tip it was $21. which by Chicago standards even I thought that was a little expensive.

Good food with spotty service

By Sax_Doc |

We ate here twice and while the food was decent, the service was a bit slow. The servers were good but the kitchen just couldn't keep up on a Saturday morning. The server was so bothered by this as well that he comped us the meal. Nice touch for sure. We came back the next day for breakfast as the service was much faster (but we were there so early it really wasn't busy). The eggs were delicious but the potatoes pretty plain. The pastries were pretty plain an unimagined. The coffee was good. Just expected better in such a high end hotel.

Fine, convenient, nothing special

By CorMom |

We stayed in LondonHouse but didn't have it included. We went at noon and thought we could get breakfast food but we couldn't. We had lunch food and it was solid but the service was slow especially considering how empty the place was.

excellent hotelbar

By Waitong |

This was my closest restaurant when in Chicago. I tried breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner and the bar. Everything was ok and a little bit better, nice staff, a good value, good selection and well maid food

Great fresh food!

By Aly C |

Great atmosphere inside. I got the avocado toast, it had a over easy egg on top and goat cheese - highly recommend! The side of fruit was fresh and delicious!

Happy Hour eats & bev

By Peter M |

Stopped in after work and enjoyed their happy hour menu. Enjoyed a lager and dry rub wings for $13. Ambience is nice with a variety of seating options: bar, high tops and low top tables for 2,4 or more. Service was attentive and timely and the service was excellent.

Open Sunday evening

By someone_actually |

I selected this place because it’s in the hotel building. Service was great, nice view, food was delicious. Went with the waitress’s pot roast recommendation and really liked the taste, presentation and quantity. Nice drink menu too. Good atmosphere. A little pricey but inline with location. Maybe skip the dessert as it was okay, but clearly not a focus.

Lovely in the sun

By JohnSB3 |

This is a very pleasant outdoors bar and café which is part of the very upmarket Hilton owned London hotel chain. It was just lovely to sit in the sun (or under umbrellas) for a lunch, coffee or early evening cocktails. I was there in happy hour. I ordered a plate of local cheeses. A selection of wines and foods were half price. A big bowl of fries for two dollars. Sun, wine, cheese and fries if you want. What’s not to like. The cheeses were mainly mild and creamy, although the cheddar had a bit of bite. They came with toasted flat bread, pecans and blackberries which were refreshing and sweet. This was a light dinner which was great after a large lunch. I ordered a coffee, but it was just tepid and not pleasant. Other than that, this is a popular and pleasant spot.

Eggs...cellent Breakfast 🍳

By Thedevelopingimage |

We stayed a few nights at The London House. Our stay included breakfast next door at this restaurant. Staff was friendly both mornings. The place is clean with a hip feel to it. The food was perfectly prepared. I had the french toast with the strawberries and chantilly cream the first morning. Definitely recommend if you want something sweet. The second morning I had a few dippy eggs with their homemade biscuits and potatoes. Cooked to perfection. Definitely would eat here again.

Delicious breakfast options

By epigramic |

Ate breakfast here for a week. Many options available - all equally tasty. Great, friendly staff complete the experience.

Cool Eats!!

By Quiana S |

My family and I grabbed a bite here, as we stayed at the London House. My husband and I had the salmon burger, it was delicious. My daughter had bolognese and it was very tasty as well. We shared a three layer carrot cake and it was super moist and extremely good. Our waiter was super cool and very friendly. Definitely would recommend having a bite to eat here.

Needs work on the staff

By Thomas B |

Not exactly on time on target. Arrive...no greeting, sit down based on asking other customers. The waitress never even came to my table, but once...to collect the bill. I had to go to the bar to order. Extremely poor I have to say. They had a good happy hour but not sure it’s worth it unless you drive the train ... for everything. My buddy who lives in Chicago and met me ther had to go twice and physically find the waitress to order drinks food etc. this place needs bar rescue in a bad way.

Tasty food and convenient location

By tnwalkermom |

Can't beat the location ... thought it was part of the LondonHouse; however, it obviously wasn't. Service was great. We all had hamburgers and the waitress and cook cooperated by using our gluten-free buns. The food came hot and was as expected. We would definitely eat there again.

Sandwich great, salat- over salted

By MsT |

We enjoyed this place, the location is great and just across the river from Trump hotel where we stayed. I really enjoyed the sandwich but the salad was over salted. I believe t was be dressing, which we clarified is made in house. I hope they take the feedback and improve the dressing. Overall neat place and other than salad I’d give it 5 stars.

Reliable stop

By DisneyDarwin |

After a long day of training, I just needed somewhere close for a drink and bite to eat. They had a long bar and a good bartender, and they were quite busy which is a good sign. The onion rings were good, the wings were not, prices did not gouge.

Breakfast was very good.

By Matthew Y |

Service was fine for a busy Sunday morning. Loved the decor. Staff was very friendly and nice. Menu is a little limited.

Lunch after 3

By Matthew L |

Interesting place, can’t get lunch until after 3pm. Can get a burger anytime though. Burger and fries were good. Croissant fruit platter was good too.

Terrible steak

By Traveler |

I got one of the worst steaks ever here. Usually when steak is served cut, they cook the steak first and then slice it. At this restaurant, it seemed like they had individual pieces of steak that they had pre-sliced earlier and then cooked. The meat was incredibly dry and almost inedible. My friend's food wasn't very good either, but it was better than the steak.

Good breakfast and night time snacks

By Lynda K |

Nice breakfast scrambles and omelets.... also had some late snacks on their outside patio..... good service, reasonable for Chicago prices

Get a new hostess.

By Zedd97511 |

Went for brunch. There were empty tables but because hostess said staff was stretched thin she said we needed to wait 10 mins. Instead of letting us sit at the table she had us stand instead. Poor start, set a bad tone, makes no sense. Food was at least average, service was average. Interesting things on the menu that looked worth trying but that initial interaction just makes me want to try someplace else.

Good happy hour

By lfitzs |

The happy hour prices were reasonable and the food was good; we would have been less satisfied for full price. It was convenient to stop in here for an early dinner when returning to the hotel from an exhausting day. The server was pleasant and service was quick.

Good homestyle cooking

By Tim H |

Good food and service. We are staying at LH and their food is just awful. It's nice to have this place attached to the LH. We've had breakfast and lunch there this week and both times very happy. It's a bit loud bit that's my only complaint.

A quality Breakfast

By Tony M |

Had Breakfast at the Land & Lake and had a really good meal. The comfort, service, content were all superb. I chose the 'Lake Benedict' which was simply excellent, and all in all we had a good time there. My reservation in awarding 4 stars is that I had to ask twice about the availability of the 'Free Wifi' and in the end gave up. As a visitor to the city the use of the Wifi was important to me, and perhaps some staff training would help here. However, overall a great time was had.

Disappointing pub grub.

By CLF422 |

The food here is so disappointing. They advertise a big-time cheeseburger -- two chewy, greasy patties that were cooked an hour earlier and warmed over, with some mayo dressing. Regretted this after two bites. French fries that were brownish and soggy - at noon. You might not mind the $22 pricetag if it was any good. My friend got Steak & Eggs but said the steak was a very tough cut of meat. Coupled with a long wait to be served ( at noon when it was not busy) this is barely two stars. 50 better places nearby, would not return.

Great service and food

By Leigh H |

Food was delicious and service was fantastic. Shared a number of small plates which were a bargain at $7 & $8. Modern industrial design looks great. Definitely dine here again.

Nice Way to Start the Day

By Yukasin |

As a Diamond Hilton member we get a free breakfast whil staying at London House. Had a ocado toast first day and Pepper and Eggs the second day. My wife liked her oatmeal the first day and vegetarian Scramble the second day. Coffee cup never got empty. Just a good solid meal.

Good wholesome food at attractive prices

By Ightham1 |

We dined here for 3 of our 4 night stay. We really enjoyed the blackened fish sandwich (twice) and the steak and chips. Good value (for the US) and we would happily return.

Alfresco brunch

By Stravel4 |

Our family of 6 had brunch here on a beautiful late morning. All 6 entrees, were delicious. Egg white omelette, avocado toast, French toast, eggs Benedict. All very good, so much so we wanted to return the next morning.

Quality upgrade to already great place

By tim g |

I have been stopping here for years especially because of the location to my hotel. While always good, this year was exceptional!! Menue covers all the bases and they were very accmodating to my dietary needs. Quality tops several big names in the area. Going back for dinner tonight.

Good meal decent price

By Traveler |

Enjoyed the meal. Close to the hotel I was at. Not crowded. Staff was very nice and professional and the selection on the menu is good.

Great lunch

By Calmac3 |

The menu may be small but the food is delicious! The Grilled Cheese sandwich was huge and the fries are delicious! My pulled pork mac and cheese was encrusted with bacon and was both filling and a warm relief on a cold afternoon. Wonderful views of Wacker out the window. Modern and clean decor.

Back for Breakfast

By The_Loup_Garou |

While in a short stay, back at the LondonHouse in Chicago, in February, I once again had breakfast at Land & Lake Kitchen, on the street level of the hotel. Being a HHonors Diamond, a dining credit was part of my stay, so I chose to use it (or perhaps part of it), at Land & Lakes. The restaurant is part restaurant, and part bar, and is entered from Wacker St, in the front of the hotel, or from the hotel’s lower level (one floor below the official lobby). It is a smart looking venue, with a wall of windows facing Wacker, and an al fresco dining area, on the sidewalk. In February, that outside dining area was closed, and with good reason - it was very cold! To date, I have only dined inside, or at the bar. On this morning, I was seated just to the front of the attractive bar, and my service began immediately. On my very first visit, I had ordered poorly, or at least the dish that I chose, while sounding very good, and highly interesting, proved to not be to my liking. However, subsequent visits have yielded better results, as did this one. I had enjoyed my Breakfast Mac & Cheese, from the “Midwestern” section of their breakfast menu, so returned to that dish. This order was as good, as the first. I probably will branch out a bit next visit, but the repeat was good enough to give me pause with that plan. Rich, hearty and very tasty, the Mac & Cheese is an excellent dish, and do not be put of on it, because of breakfast - heck, it even has “Breakfast” in the name, right? Service was very good, even though the restaurant seemed to fill in waves. Lots of folk were stopping by for business breakfasts and meetings, and it seemed that everyone around me was on their tablet, or similar devices. The business crowd was definitely there. I will return to Land & Lake Kitchen, on my next stay at LondonHouse.

close to our hotel

By Ted F |

We went to Land and Lake restaurant as it was next door to our hotel. We had just arrived at the hotel and were hungry so went in and got seated. We both had the buffalo grilled chicken sandwich and it was good. The french fries were outstanding, dry hot, not the typical greasy mess. We went to the restaurant the next morning for breakfast and I had the french toast and my wife had the all american breakfast. again, good food. The service was very good.

Great Breakfast!

By Sarah M |

Located right off the Magnificent Mile. Cute, modern atmosphere. French toast with strawberry coulis was amazing; beef hash was outstanding.

Fine but not great

By LivingThe Q |

We stopped in for a glass of wine and an appetizer before meeting our daughter for dinner. We had the deviled eggs, which were very good. However, the bartender that was working during our visit was not friendly at all and did not provide good service. Even though we had a so-so visit (mainly due to the bartender), we would give it a try again.

Very good and very good prices

By Jim M |

Land and Lake is a great place for both breakfast and dinner. The service is fast and friendly. If ever on Wacker Drive in Chicago to try this place. Great outdoor patio with great views of the river and downtown Chicago.

Great choice for brunch/breakfast!

By Catherine C |

Fast, friendly service and great selections for brunch. Leaving very full!! Nothing fancy just hearty, flavorful dishes and strong coffee!

Great sandwich

By Leandro S |

Had a delicious Turkey sandwich here, however the Caesar salad my fiancé had was not as good. Located right in downtown, has outdoor and indoor seating.

Finally! Creative Breakfast!

By PracticalDude |

Although the menu was small, I did find the breakfast menu creative enough to deviate from the normal except for the 95% of items containing pork. The pancakes were the best I've had in years but be sure to get extra syrup because they are so fluffy and absorbent. I also found their scrambled eggs and peppers on toast delicious. Coffee was reasonable. They are not affiliated to the London House Hotel so don't expect to charge your room.

Meh

By KevinL41872 |

Met here for breakfast with one of our business teams. Not busy on a Wednesday and we got a big table on the side. A little surprised that it was only a small menu with no exceptions or changes. Made it a bit challenging to order non menu suggestions. Food took a bit, but we were a larger party, but one meal was lond delayed. Coffees were tough to get refills and food was warm but not hot. I think as a hotel restaurant not horrible but left something to be desired.

One member of staff was very rude shouting at us and not putting our order through.

By shell-lord |

We arrived as a group of 3 as 1 of us was staying at the Hilton hotel that the bar is part of. We ordered 2 rounds of drinks with a very nice member of staff. However, when we asked a guy with grey hair, shirt and glasses if we could please have the big US game on the screen he said he was the incorrect person to ask and people at the bar get priority anyway. So when they asked he put the game on even though "he was not the correct person to ask. After ordering drinks we ordered food with this guy...the food never came and his colleague advised the order was never put through. This individual should not work in hospitality. We were excited wearing our medals etc after running the marathon and he clearly did not like us as we are English.

Breakfast

By Stephanie H |

The staff was nice, but we were not fans of the food. We only had the breakfast and had to send back my husband's eggs. The replacement plate took quite a long time to receive. Didn't think it should've taken that long to scramble some eggs.

breakfast after LondonHouse stay

By Donna H |

Breakfast here is decent. Service has improved quite a bit since the first time they opened. They have a decent amount of offerings and food has always been good. Sometimes a little short staffed on very busy weekends, however.

Breakfast and more!

This restaurant was close to our hotel so we went in for breakfast and glad we did. We had good and friendly service. Our bacon and eggs were served exactly the way we wanted them and the homemade biscuit was so good! There are several breakfast choices on the menu. The coffee was plentiful. Nice fresh decor with a great view of the river. They also serve dinner.

Good Food / terrible management

By fernandogendrop |

This is the host Restaurant of the LondonHouse hotel, the place have a good kitchen, but they never have enough crew to attend, that makes a terrible experience to see an empty restaurant with wating list. Do not go #period

lunch and dinner

By Alan R |

this place we visited because was close to hotel. It is a cool place, and the food was good. Can get just nibbles or dinner. Service was good, and staff very friendly. We liked the food, and draft beer was good also. Great place.

Simply great

By Radek |

Very friendly and attentive service, spacious place, I could choose any table I wanted. Took shrimp & grain salad, very nice. House red wine of surprisingly good quality. It is clear the service team like working with one another.

Nice affordable meal

By Cynthia T |

On a wet and cold evening, we decided to try the Land and Lake restaurant in our hotel. Service was efficient, quick, and affordable. Try the burgers and fries.

Nice place for breakfast

By moose4580 |

We stayed at London House and had breakfast at Land and Lake both mornings. The service was great. The eggs were very good, but the breakfast potatoes and biscuits were not. The menu is too small needs to have a few more options.

Great Food & Atmosphere

By NoClassLounge |

The food here is excellent brunch fare. The mac and cheese and the burger are my faves. They also make the french fries the way God intended... Well done and extra crispy! I recommend if you want a chill place to relax and have a quick bite.

Great casual dining

By js1202 |

I had breakfast here as I was staying in the Londonhouse just upstairs, and it was so good I came back for lunch! Great place to eat solo and work or chat w/ the friendly bartenders. Recommend the Chicken Ceasar Salad.

Would not recommend

By nik35805 |

This restaurant needs to get their act together before being associated with the LondonHouse. I am a diamond Hilton member and one of the benefits is breakfast every morning of your stay. My Amex was charged both days for the breakfast and that would have been easy to resolve. Unfortunately, it has taken an hour to get resolved, they hung up on me and LondohHouse was just as bad with their customer service. I found the food not very good, and staff needs to be trained better ... Not a good experience

Great food, although service was slow.

By MPP2703 |

I love breakfast in the uS, normally a big pancake fan. So we decided to give this a go. Now my wife is not a fan, so she had a pineapple juice and multigrain toast, $3.50 & $3.00 respectively. I had the salted banana French toast, yummy, $15 nd the refillable coffee, $4.50. Now about the coffee, you had to grab one of the servers to get your top up, where as at other places the pot stays on your table. Still food was yummy, service fine, it was extremely busy, Recommended.

Typical Breakfast

By romantictravel |

This restaurant is on the street level of the LondonHouse Hotel. Coffee was good. Service was fast and the food was tasty.

In the middle of the action

By William S |

The indoor/outdoor eatery is close to the river and many attractions and shopping. The menu is very good, with some creative choices for breakfast or brunch. The coffee was pretty good for coming from an urn, and the service was very good, even though the dining area was packed. We went twice; two breakfast dishes with coffee and tip ran $40.

Decent

By Prashan Wilfred |

Decent food. Nothing extra ordinary. We had burgers and the chicken was cooked well. The fries were a little over fried though.

Fantastic brunch

By Kathryn N |

What a great welcome to the city! We landed in the morning, hotel room wasn't ready, so we walked around the corner to Land & Lake for brunch. Halfway into my pineapple mimosa, I had that warm happy feeling that I associate with Chicago - so much to do, so much to see, such vibrancy. I am not usually inspired by a bowl of granola, but their granola is just that good (and the champagne paired much better than you'd think!). My son had an avocado egg dish that he loved. Service was fantastic. Prices reasonable. Will go out of my way to eat there next time I'm in town.

Great food! Great price!

By AndiSchuff |

This restaurant is in the same building as LondonHouse Chicago. They have really good baked chicken. It is a sit-down atmosphere, but you can see them making the food (which I like).

Conveniently located in our hotel

By TalibanJones |

Staying at the Londonhouse and needed a quick bite during my wife's break from her conference. We arrived during brunch, she had the burger and added avocado. I had the country benedict. Burger was juicy and flavorful and the fries were slightly crispy. The Italian sausage gravy on the country benedict was delicious and the eggs were poached just right. The country potatoes were good as well.

Purely based on food...

By Jon Edwards |

... I would say a 3. I had the chili with garlic/parmesan fries. The chili was ok but the garlic fries were a bit overcooked and over seasoned. The staff were all very friendly no complaints there, even on a day when the restaurant was super busy. For the price (we had happy hour menu) it was ok.

Good and convenient

By fullmer66 |

My wife and I needed a quick early dinner in order to make a later engagement. Land & Lake met our needs completely. Service was good and they accomodated our special needs effectively. Pulled pork w mack & cheese was very good. Grain salad w grilled chicken was also very good w some unique touches and nice viniegrette. We would definitely eat there again.

Food is good, service is friendly--but understaffed.

By LOMike |

It took a long time to get recognized for breakfast--presumably due to short staffing. The eggs were well-prepared and breakfast potatoes were perfectly cooked.

Very quick and delicious!

By brianak2999 |

Great restaurant in lobby of LondonHouse, we ate here every morning because they were so quick! We were in and out within 30 mins each time. Food selection has some basics and other options like avo toast. Portions were also huge and meals were cheap for what they were. Would definitely recommend for breakfast. Dinner menu looked great but we did not go during those hours.

Bad food & slow service

By AmishLou |

We ate breakfast here because it was included with our stay as HHonors Diamond members. When we arrived the restaurant wasn’t even half full, but the hostess said there would be a 10 minute wait until we could be seated. When we were seated, we got a nice outdoor table with a good view along Wacker Avenue and the river. I ordered the sausage scramble, and after I took one bite, I thought the sausage didn’t taste fresh. The potatoes served with it were dry. The service was very slow, especially for it not being very busy. When I told the waiter it didn’t taste right, he was very accommodating and brought me a different item on the menu. However, neither that new item (granola), nor my husband‘s omelette was anything to write home about. We would definitely choose a different place to eat breakfast next time we visit Chicago.

A Great Choice

By Jarynb1 |

We went for breakfast and the next day went during happy hour. Bottomless mimosas are always a good time, food and drinks were great and service was even better! A great choice if you’re downtown.

Super spot service spotty

By kathleenmf |

I arrived late 830 PM for dinner and was staying at London house hotel. Great hotel. btw. The menu is limited but has enough for everyone. There was a kids menu for those on a family trip. $6 per kid. Glasses 9f wine 9 to 14 a glass. They do have a happy hour that ends at 7. The service was a little hit or miss. Some staff were attentive and others not so much. They were out of some menu items. It had pluses but also some drawbacks.

Worth it!

By ceebreezer |

The breakfast was A+ to my liking. I had the American breakfast and the Chicago style hash.So nice I had to visit twice. Sat inside and outside and enjoyed it both.

Just ok

By Tanja |

We ate here while staying at the London House Hotel. The food had no flavor and the service was ok at best.

Great breakfast option

By tscheblo |

So convenient when staying at LondonHouse. We had a reservation but were able to be seated early at a window looking onto Wacker Drive. Our food was delivered promptly. I recommend the bacon and Gouda cheese scramble. My friend enjoyed hot tea and oatmeal. We split the croissant and fruit plate. While it wasn’t a cheap meal, it meant we could sightsee and skip lunch. We would eat here again when in Chicago.

Simple flavor.

By Rob M |

Ordered the eggs, avocado toast, and potatoes with the buttermilk chicken sandwich. Definitely could have used some sort of seasoning or sauce to add flavor to the sandwich. Overall, flavored was good. The total price was just under $50. The service was friendly.

BEWARE- UNCLEAN AND SLOPPY

By Jamie G |

Sloppy sloppy service. I had a bridal appointment to go to and was seated at a presumably “clean table”. They didn’t even wipe the seats down and I sat in coffee with white pants on. Manager didn’t seem to care or offer to fix anything. If they’re that sloppy about cleaning their tables, imagine what their kitchen must be like. Awful experience.

Amazing happy hour deals! Great Location! Super Vibe!

By sammymassyn |

My mom & I were staying at the LondonHouse Hotel (highly recommend) and the Land & Lake Kitchen is right next door to the entrance of the hotel - with access to the restaurant from within the hotel waiting area. It was just conveninat for us since we didn't want to go out in the cold but what an awesome place! They have a REALLY good happy hour special, super cheap & well worth it. But even if you don't go at happy hour, you'll get amazing service & great food in beautiful industrial chic settings with a super location. Went back multiple times & was not disappointed!

Best burger I’ve ever had!

By Lisa W |

Great friendly service. Best burger ever. Even the picky kids loved it. We were looking for something close to an activity we had just finished and found this little gem. The whole family is dying to go back.

Good food, good service.

By ERFSU82 |

Good service, good food, and good atmosphere. My wife and I both really enjoyed our meals, especially the buffalo chicken sandwich. They have a good selection of craft beers to wash it down. It’s a good place for a casual dinner.

Wonderful Breakfast

By NOLA |

Great breakfast. All food freshly prepared and delicious. Definitely recommend. Outdoor seating is shaded in the morning,

Appetizers and drinks

By Lisa E |

Stopped in middle of day for apps and drinks after the river architecture tour. We ordered jerk wings, onion rings, meatballs and some type of local booze. Was looking for a shot of crown but they specialize in local drinks and no crown. No worries the service was good and so was food. Could have skipped the wings but mainly because we wanted buffalo and I don’t care for drums anyway with two cokes bill was like 45 bucks. Would probably go back.

Breakfast good, service hit and miss..

By Sarah C |

We had breakfast here every day of our stay as we were guests of the LondonHouse hotel above, also as Diamond Hilton Honors members we received $12 each vouchers per day to use towards the bill. The food is good, tasty and lots of choice of different things. The bacon is very good, and so are the benedicts. Coffee is also refilled at no extra cost which is nice. The $12 each doesn't go very far unfortunately but we did chose cooked items each day, and the cost is reasonable in comparison to nearby places. Only thing that lets this place down is the service which can be quite hit and miss.. we generally found we had good service when we went earlier (8-9am) and after 10am the service was very slow.

Need to get their act together

By jsieffer |

We came here because the hotel gave us credit, but even though they were not busy, it took 10 minutes to be seated (many many empty seats). Food was sub-mediocre. Service continued to be super slow and uncoordinated. Only reason to come here is if it's free, and then it may not be worth it.

Best Coffee

By Blueiii596 |

We were staying at the London House, which has no breakfast options except for room service. The Land & Lake Kitchen is located next door and can be accessed from the bell stand. It was a busy Sunday morning, but we were seated quickly. Our waitress was efficient and polite, despite being very busy. The coffee we were served was very hot (just like we like it) and it was delicious. The food came without much delay and was hot (even my pancakes were hot). We were not rushed out the door after we finished eating, and were offered more coffee several times. The price point was reasonable for downtown Chicago.

Not impressed

By giyo19 |

had breakfast here just because it was convinient. Service was good food not that much at least not what I had or my partner

Mediocre chicken sandwich

By Vince D |

Sorry but pretty much every chicken sandwich i had this year was better. Nothing terrible but have to give it an average rating.

Disappointed

By Jim_In_DP |

We had a gift certificate so we tried this for brunch on a Saturday morning. The place was nice and the server was good but the food was disappointing. Had the Benedict and the eggs were over done and potatoes were cold even though we’re only 10 feet from the kitchen. Not sure how they could mess that up. In the egg white omelet the avocado was so over-limed or lemoned (probably to keep it fresh) that it tasted dry and didn’t taste like avocado. Won’t be back.

A delicious steak & eggs breakfast

By Hans Meyer |

For convenience (we were staying at the LondonHouse Chicago) we had breakfast here and it was delicious! The steak & eggs were cooked exactly as requested, and the steak was topped with a tasty steak sauce. Of course, I had to add bacon, which make it the perfect protein fortification for the start of the day.

Great Breakfast Menu

By PrairiePaddler |

I'm a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy and I still can't completely deconstruct in my mind what made the unusual dark sausage gravy here so delicious. It was so good that I still was happy with my selection as I watched mouthwatering plates go by with one tempting breakfast entree after another. And this kitchen is remarkable -- they turn out beautifully plated dishes one after another with lighting speed, it's remarkable. Staff here is fantastic and they all pitch in to cover all the tables so you will never have a need go unmet -- obviously a skilled collegial group. And may I say, they must all enjoy gym memberships as an employment benefit because they are all busting out of their tight branded tee shirts. Great breakfast, thank you!

Great breakfast menu

By Bob O |

Finding a good, quiet and friendly spot for breakfast in Downtown Chicago, without being overpriced, can be a challenge. This restaurant meets that criteria. Part of the London House Hotel, but near the Club Quarters and Wyndham. Nice menu with a lot of healthy choices, plus standard fare. Wait staff extremely friendly. Try it!

Covenient Restaurant with good food

By RicMim |

This restaurant is located adjacent to the LondonHouse Hotel and accessible from the 1st floor of the hotel. During our stay in Chicago from January 13th-17th we ate here twice for lunch and drinks. Servers (both male) were attentive and food was good although the menu is not huge their is a decent selection of items to choose from. This is clearly a place that people frequent for a quick business lunch and I am sure that dinner is enjoyed here also. Drinks were good and they have a bar with TV's. Both times we ate here there were people sitting at the bar. Nice seating by the windows.

Nourishment extraordinaire!

By red728 |

After a day of walking and lugging bags, we ended it here with the largest most delicious and juicy burger I can remember. I can't speak for the rest of the food but if it was anything like the burger, you can go wrong!

Where to eat before and after Chicago Marathon

By Javier V |

We are staying very close, we came to run the Chicago Marathon 2025 edition and it came great for the previous dinners, pasta with chicken, very well served. Days later we came back as it was practical, we were always very well served and convenient prices. To all runners I recommend this place for pre and post meals. Add that the soup is excellent, the salads very well served and the sandwiches well, you also have dishes with meat. In Chicago, very good option to eat well and at good prices.

Solid choice for breakfast fare....

By Socks_N_Crocs |

During a recent stay at the LondonHouse Hotel, my family dined at Land & Lake every morning for breakfast. Being a Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond member you will get vouchers towards your breakfast price for each night of your stay. Pro Tip: Staff can charge your bill to your room but you will have to ask. That way you can earn extra Hilton Honors Points. Adult Favorites: Sausage Scramble Kids Favorites: Strawberry Waffles & Blueberry Pancakes

A Big Brunch

By s nina adams |

We were welcomed promptly and given a window booth which was excellent. The waitress was friendly and charming and coffee was served almost immediately. I had Eggs Benedict with homestyle potatoes along with a mimosa as we were on holiday! My wife had beef hash. The portions were certainly large enough to keep us going until dinner. The mimosas were definitely more wine, less orange juice (thank you very much!). The eggs were perfectly poached and I really enjoyed my meal. To top it all, it was 80s all the way on the music system so I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of the place too. Prices were very reasonable for downtown. We’re thinking of returning tomorrow for breakfast!

Breakfast in a Relaxed Setting

By doctorfoxtrot |

During my stay in LondonHouse this is where we had our daily breakfast. Many options abound , such as omelets, sandwiches , toasts , pastries, Benedicts etc. Typical American . Coffee choices however is very much limited . Stick to the brewed one, no latte , mocha etc. No option for cold brew. But I liked the consistent refill . But you may get bored with the same variety knowing that Chicago is also famous for breakfast and coffee places . Heavy also on gratuity , well that’s how it works in the States. Anyway we were not rushed during our meal .

Waste of time, money and calories

By GatashMA |

The food was unremarkable. Our area was not clean. Our waiter seemed really busy and he was a bit brusque with us. Maybe they were understaffed, but we had to flag him down a few times to serve us. I told him about a coupon we had and he waved it off "we'll figure it out later". The bill came with an additional item we did not order and no coupon applied. It took more time to get his attention to correct the bill. The restaurant imposes a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. I did not know that policy before we were seated. If I had, I never would have entered. I believe the hospitality industry needs to end fees and surcharges to customers. Why not just add the cost to the meals? The high tipping suggestions on bills also needs to stop. The service deserved no more than a traditional 15% tip and I resent a 30% suggestion for bad, overpriced food. Pay your employees and make their jobs easier with providing quality product.

We stayed at the London House

By Jay S |

We stayed at the London House and was part of our package breakfast the experience was terrible Phillip our waiter was very unprofessional the service was unbelievable and sad part they did not care We will make tomorrow’s breakfast will be wild berries

A brunch to remember

By Faith Wilkins |

My husband and I are staying at the London House Curio Hilton hotel. We stopped by here for brunch. Our host Jhony was fabulous. He exudes exceptional customer service. He was attentive, quick and responsive. We truly enjoyed our meal and the complimentary Pineapple juice at the end of our meal 😋 Jhony has definitely set the standard for what's expected when dining out. He made a huge impression and this restaurant is very blessed he works on their team. Bravo Jhony!! Mario & I are thankful for a great time here. Will be sure to return for brunch before checking out Wednesday. Oh and I have reccomended to friends and family who frequent london house to stop by this restaurant. What a treat. Thanks

Great Happy Hour Specials

By Michelle H |

Our family of 4 enjoyed the Happy Hour specials. We had several drinks, burgers, chili, fries, and a hot dog for $40 - what a bargain. Food was tasty and filling.

Terrible hamburguer

By Flavio L |

The place is ok but the hamburguer os terrible... It is the same as Mcdonalds! The Beer fim Chicago is Nice.

Hilton Honors Breakfast: disappointing

By Ramona P |

We stayed at the LondonHouse and used our Hilton Honors Vouchers for breakfast... poor quality, scarse quantity and awful service. Not even a plain croissant. It was really disappointing specially compared to the breakfast they use to offer at the Roof Top Bar and affected the perfection of our stay in the hotel.

Pricey, okay food

By DEBH |

We chose to eat breakfast here because of proximity to our hotel. The restaurant was clean and had an open kitchen. No frills decor. Wait staff accommodating. No gluten free options. Potatoes tasted deep fried. Not a lot of choices on menu. Expensive.

Bright, Pleasant Setting in a Hotel Restaurant

By B_Pope |

Land and Lake is the restaurant in the London House hotel, on the ground floor in their new all-glass section, so it makes the setting bright with the floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto Wacker Drive. It's contemporary and cheerful, and we especially liked the large mural depicting the Chicago skyline (see the photos). We were treated to an "All-American Breakfast" by the hotel as an anniversary gift. Two eggs, potatoes, choice of meat, and a biscuit. We both wanted our eggs scrambled, and they were cooked just right. (Why do restaurants describe their eggs as "farm eggs?" Is there any other kind?) I got the sausage link, which we both really liked. The biscuit was good, but not the best I have ever had; it reminded me of the biscuits that I make, which are also good, but there's room for improvement. (I'm working on it.) The coffee I ordered was very good as well, We were quite satisfied with our breakfast. We wouldn't make a special trip to eat here, but we would likely eat here again if staying at the hotel or one nearby.

Worst place to wait to eat in Chicago

By RootM |

Went in here on Christmas Day! Don’t bother. Walked in with 2 adults and 4 kids for a nice brekkie. We were told we wait 20 mins which was fine as it was busy!! People walked in after us and just sat down at the table of their choice and they were served! After 40 mins we decided to ask the staff and we were told they couldn’t be sure how more long the wait could be and that when though the other parties just took a table nobody who worked there knew anything about this?? It was such bad service and really unfair The customer even said to us just sit down that’s what we did!!! There was a really bad attitude by the host and after being there for nearly 45 mins we left to find some where else! Really bad service and really rude and cheeky way to treat people!!! Real Christmas spirit in Land and Lake Kitchen... only even gave 1 star to submit the review! Doesn’t even deserve that

Try the deviled eggs

By OHVirginiaNative |

This restaurant knows how to take the tried and true and turn it on its head! The deviled eggs were the best I have had since my grandmother made them. And the turkey chili was out of this world! My dining companions had similar experiences with their turkey reuben and other items. The entrees are reasonably priced and there is a good set of libations. We really enjoyed ourselves.

A Thanksgiving day stop

By JoeR-Florida |

In the city on Thanksgiving Day waiting to pick up a family member. Stopped in to check out this new place on Wacker next to the London house. Cool vibe great location menu looks great. Come by and check it out.

An excellent breakfast WITHOUT the wait

By desrlmt |

The best thing about Land & Lake is what it DOESN'T have: a routine half-hour or so wait to be seated. Yes, I know, Yolk and its similar brethren are trendier, and I love them. But sometimes I prefer a breakfast that doesn't consume my whole morning. Which is not to say L&L is bland or ordinary--it's got it's own little charms in food prep--if that's your thing. But you can also get good old unadorned eggs and bacon. Service isn't stellar, but adequate. Prices aren't cheap, but fair. In sum, sometimes what's ordinary is what's perfect.

What a fabulous find-for the food and prices!

By whereverimayroamblog |

My friend and I were only in Chicago for the evening and happened upon L&L. We loved the fun patio with amazing views, but we scored a table inside instead by the window with the same epic views. We were able to enjoy happy hour at L&L, meaning $7 gourmet burgers and other discounters appetizers. The burger was so juicy and full of flavor, but the deviled eggs were the real star of the table. I recommend this spot for drinks, networking, dining, or just hanging out. It was fabulous!

Horrible welcome

By bigtimetravel Y |

To start, we are honors members and this is connected to our hotel. The hostess (female with glasses and dark hair in a pony tail) didn’t have our room on her “sheet” so I was not able to charge to the room despite putting a$200 hold on our credit card. I was alone so then was offered a table right by the hostess stand. Who wants to sit by the door? When I said that was not adequate I was placed at a table within a foot of tables on either side of me despite plenty of open tables. I could hear every word of both table’s conversations as well as the phone call of one of the people on my right. I paid $35 for an egg white omelette and a fruit cup and asked for my check early. This was a horrible breakfast. No water was offered. I feel terrible paying for this but my waitress was kind and without her, I would give this place a zero rating. The hostess was rude and put me at a terrible table. After a hard workout and the desire to relax for the rest of the morning, this was a bad way to start. We are here one more day at London House and we will NOT be back to this restaurant.

Breakfast both mornings was excellent.

By Lecia |

Had breakfast two mornings in a row and wished I had more time for lunches as well as all the food that came out of the kitchen looked great.

Land & Lake = Local

By Anne Marie |

What a relief to find a nice place to enjoy local casual cuisine and beers in downtown Chicago! We were wandering from our hotel looking for a place to eat that wouldn't be a rip off or tastless chain when we spotted Land & Lake. Inside we were made welcome and felt at ease - totally unpretentious. To our surprise we discovered that their Happy Hour menu was incredibly good value and just what we needed: a taste of Chicago. I had the Northsider hot dog for $5 and my husband had a great big burger for $6, both of which were delicious. We also had fun trying out the regional beers for $4 each. It was a great start to our stay in the city!

Good view

By itstimeagain |

We stayed at the London House and bought the breakfast with the hotel. We arrived when they opened at 8:00. The eye rolling was obvious. We entered on the hotel side of the door and presented our breakfast tickets. We were never sure who our waiter was. They were not very busy at that time. The food was bland. I got up and walked towards the staff to get a coffee refill. On the second day I presented our tickets and the waiter told me we each needed to pay $20 in addition to what we paid the hotel. I told them that seemed a little excessive for breakfast but I told him okay that’s fine we will pay. I told him the service was terrible the day before, and how we were ignored. He came back and said we only needed to pay $10 extra. The view was great. I will not come back to this restaurant.

Seriously, is a free breakfast worth it.

By Bill F |

I’m staying at the Hotel (the London House) that is attached to this restaurant. It would already seem that the management doesn’t read its reviews. This is day two at the restaurant, I’m 5 minutes in without a menu and started a stop watch to document the times. Got a menu. 9:12 in after I raised my hand to get one. It has taken 1:47 to get a waiter. 13 bucks for 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. Wanted toasted instead but this restaurant absolutely dose not tolerate substitutes. Placed order and back on the clock. 15:21 to get food. Here’s the check with no comments. 5:09 to eat. 3:09 to see the cc on the table. First offer to refill my drink after I’m done (3.00) coke. 2:00 to get check back. Did a screen shot but I can’t add it. 36 minutes today. Breakfast ain’t tough. All the food was good, but how hard is it? The biscuits still are horrible. P

Ok if close

By runash202 |

While the food was fine, it all seemed rushed which is ok I guess. The staff was kind -which is rare but the credit card charge and the to go charge for the item we requested to go back to the room seemed a bit much.

Perfect place for a leisure meal

By Mah_Murrini |

In the lower lobby of the London House, this is a great place to enjoy breakfast before your day. Something for just about everyone from a small bite to full meal, delicious coffee from a local roaster, excellent unrushed service, and reasonable prices. Only thing missing is an espresso machine.

Great Breakfast!

By TravelerKay |

We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed a very good breakfast. Service was good and everyone was very friendly.

Disappointing all around

By Katherine L |

"Homemade" biscuits tasted as if they'd been made yesterday or the day before, and from a mix. Worse, though, was what happened to the eggs in my Lake Benedict: clearly the lox had been icy-cold when the hot eggs were plopped onto it. Cold won: those were some very chilly eggs. And the hollandaise sauce was dismayingly bland. Tea cost an eye-popping $5 for a tiny carafe of rapidly-cooling liquid, with no refills offered until I begged. All in all, a major disappointment. Will not return.

London House

By Gary T |

This is the breakfast area attached to the London House. I had breakfast here one of the three days we visited. It was very good but quite over priced as compared to the Corner Bakery also next to the hotel. At $25 vs the same meal next door at $10 it is a very poor value.

Excellent food!

By Eric B |

The food was great, once it finally arrived. Service was not only slow, but not very observant or interested in providing good service. Staff needs better training. After food arrived, we figured out that my wife's side was incorrectly placed on my plate. By the time we got the server's attention, we'd already been eating. The service did not bring her a fresh new side, but rather suggested that she take the side from my plate. Unacceptable. Nevertheless, despite the service problems, the menu was wonderful, and as I said, the food was great.

Average food, poor service. Skip it.

By DrParticle |

Food is average, the wait for service was long, the service slow and not so friendly. Everyone seemed surly and made us feel like an inconvenience. Unfortunate that they are the contract cafe for the Hilton upstairs. If you don't have food vouchers from the Hotel, find other places to eat.

Loved this place

By Tammy J |

We wanted a place that was more than a tavern burger, but less than the more formal fancy places. This place really hit the spot. Outside seating available, but inside was great. Nice views and good music playing. Food was good too.

Convienent and Good!!

By Mellam |

Great happy hour...food is great as well. Right next to our hotel. Weekend brunch was really good too! It was a rainy weekend so because of it's location, we ate there a few time. Enjoyed it every time.

Good Breakfast

By arubaphil |

We were staying in the Royal Sonesta and went for breakfast next door at the Land and Lake Kitchen. Staff was friendly and prompt serving. We ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and the American breakfast. Both were very good. The American was a choice of 2 eggs, breakfast meat, home fries and a biscuit. Portions were good and everything was fresh and delicious. A good choice for breakfast.

Best cup of tea

By hunslet49 |

It is an Englishman's nightmare, where to find a decent cup of tea in America? Well, here it is. It comes in a strange little container that you leave it in to brew which you then pour into your mug. Excellent cup of breakfast tea. You still have to ask for milk. The croque monsieur wasn't such a success though. That needed a chainsaw to get through the toast. I enjoyed the tea so much though, I couldn't be bothered to complain

Delicious food, reasonable prices, worth a wait

This is a very popular restaurant, based on my four days of breakfast and brunch dining. The short story is that it perfectly fits if your plans are to get a reliable but not superb meal to send you on whatever you happen to be doing in Chicago. The service is quite remarkable for an eatery that’s constantly fully booked. You’ll probably have to wait 15 to 25 minutes for a table, but do it, because nothing else in the neighborhood will be better able to handle your request.       If you happen to be a runner (think Chicago Marathon), L&L provides all that an athlete needs. Pre-race means major carb-loading with choices such as oatmeal, Mac & cheese, and a side of breakfast potatoes. Post-race means anything your heart desires in the way of “cheat” meals, including cheeseburger and fries.       Major plus: Prices are quite reasonable for downtown Chi-town!

Nice atmosphere

The Land and Lake Kitchen was conveniently located to our hotel, the staff was attentive but not overbearing, and the food was delicious. Reasonable price, and their happy hour specials are a great value.

Yummy

Have been twice in the last week and both times I've gotten the egg white omelet with avocado/broccoli. Probably should try something else but it's so good that I haven't bothered. Perfectly cheesy and seasoned well.

Brunch with delicious food and unlimited mimosas kept us warm!

Because of the weather (polar vortex below zero) we chose to have brunch in the hotel (London House). What a wonderful menu and unlimited mimosas kept us toasty on one of the coldest days of the year in Chicago!

Nice but not special

Menu was not extraordinary. Coffee was standard. Service was good but not great. Lovely cosy atmosphere. It was nice but nothing to write home about.
