Great Brunch -- Food and Service

By Mary B |

We met friends for brunch and had a lovely time. The service was excellent as we were rather slow (talking with our friends we hadn't seen in ages) but the waitstaff handled it very well. The monkey bread was a nice appetizer while we chose food. My salmon benedict was really excellent and the eggs cooked exactly as I asked. Very much recommend this spot.

Possibly the Best restaurant in Seattle ! ! ! ....defin. top 10 in USA.

By Todd2rip |

Lark is an amazing restaurant in Seattle. I have had a number of their dishes, even the ones I was unsure of trying at first. All of their food is amazing! I pretty much eat out all the time and eaten at many restaurants around the world and I must say....Lark is definitely in my top 10 restaurants in the world. If you are visiting Seattle, Lark is a restaurant you must visit!

An almost perfect dinner

By RLGM6 |

First of all, the Lark we went to last night was at 952 E Seneca St, Seattle, WA 98122. A different address than was is noted here, but the website shows the correct address. A recent move, I presume. Be careful about parking! I observed multiple cars receive parking tickets throughout night looking out of the 2nd floor window. Six of us dined there for dinner. The atmosphere is excellent and the staff lovely. The menu is not typical! We used our phones to research several of the options before ordering, just to make sure we knew what to expect. Be ready to be a bit adventurous. All in all, the food was excellent from start to finish. Our one disappointment was the duck "breast". First of all it was a duck leg and was so overcooked and dry it was almost uneatable. That particular main dish was a complete let down. The rest of the meal was delicious and the desserts were just lovely. I would recommend this restaurant, but would avoid the duck if that is their typical presentation.

Not Up To Par

By pookala |

It's been 5 months since my previous review of Lark and I have to say my meal here last week can only be described as fair. Which is a shame because this restaurant has been one of my favorite go-to dining spots in Seattle. Our snacks and small plates were fine and seemed the usual high standard: the sunchoke chips, hamachi crudo, the seared foie and the bread plate, delicious all. (Though we did think they were a little stingy with the lardo portion on the bread plate.) The prawn carbonara was underwhelming, the romanescu was equally dull. The proteins, pork belly and a wagyu steak were very good. So it was a mixed bag from the kitchen in terms of consistency. A banana cake and and a malted ice cream for dessert were both disappointing. The last thing to note? Once again, there was a hugh delay between our starters and main courses and while this occurred at my last meal, the problem was acknowledged. This time - nothing, crickets, nada, zero. As a mater of fact, I would describe our service as inattentive. All in all, I know Lark is capable of better.

Excellent all the way

By A G |

This is was the third time I’ve been to the Lark. That should tell you something right there. Tough to get reservations, but managed to get a table at 6:30 up in the Mezzanine which was perfectly fine. Our server, Krista, was superb. She was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. We started with a dozen oysters (awesome) and cocktails of course. I had the scallops (perfect portion size, excellent presentation and beyond just tasty. My guest had the hanger steak and could stop raving about it. Do t miss this. You’ll enjoy.

Disappointed

By CDN_Around_The_World |

Met friends for brunch at eleven on a wet, cold Saturday. Setting and Ambiance: open, lots of windows letting in light, well appointed, rather quiet Service: excellent, but less than half the tables were occupied Food: mediocre at best. We all ordered something different: smoked salmon benedict, pork belly, smoked brisket hash, and something else obvious not memorable. It was certainly not a bad experience, but there are so many other great places to go for brunch that we will not return to Lark

Last Night in Seattle - Saved the best for last!

By Beverly B |

We ended our short adventure at Lark Restaurant. What a way to end our first trip to Seattle. We were a few minutes late for our reservation, we thought we could walk and needed to grab a cab. The Hostess couldn't have been nicer. The restaurant was full and buzzing. We were looking forward to this meal as the chef is very talented and believes in a farm to table experience for his guests. We started off with a bottle of Washington State Pinot Gris. My husband loves sweetbreads and there they were offered as a starter. We started off with the Crispy veal sweetbreads with fresh chanterells, lovage and artichoke barigoule and Burrata with Billy's tomatoes, gooseberries, tomato gelee, basil and the "best" olive oil croutons. Our next course was Octopus a la plancha, bomb rice, piquillo peppers and smoked jowl and Duck confit with grilled castelfranco salad, smokey blue chese, pickled shallot and pancetta, need I say any more! We licked our plates. Service was friendly and attentive. We finished our meal with an amazing dessert. I forgot what we had and didn't ask for a dessert menu to take home, sorry. However, it was delicious. You need to go there when in Seattle. Bonus, the chef was on the line and the kitchen is an open concept kitchen and we were able to meet and talk to the chef. And, he couldn't have been friendlier.

My Favorite Seattle Meal

By pookala |

Admittedly, I haven't eaten at every Seattle restaurant but I did a lot of dining at recommended eateries during my last visit; and hands down, this was my favorite spot. First off, it's a beautiful, comfortable re-purposed industrial space that is elegant yet simple. LInen tablecloths & banquette booths help absorb sound - a huge plus in my book. Service was perfect. Cordial, attentive and considerate, the wait staff was flawless. Hiring the right people and then training them well can make a huge difference in the enjoyment of a meal. It really isn't enough anymore to just have a talented kitchen. You need front of the house service that presents the chef's talents to its fullest advantage. Well done, Lark. The food was wonderful from the bread with salted butter and lardo (there is a charge - get over it.) to the hamachi crudo with fennel, the duck confit, a side dish of wild mushrooms with garlic & shallots and our favorite: the fontina agnolotti with roasted carrots in a brown butter sauce - simply spectacular. I cannot wait to go back.

Thank you

Thank you so much for such a memorable dining experience! Not only was food outstanding and architectura ambiance incredible, but Ashley our server catered to our every need!

Classy place with delicious options

By Eman R |

This is a very popular, nice, classy place with delicious options. It can work well for business dinners as well as romantic dates. The staff were all friendly and service was generally solid, and the dishes were well prepared.

Lark is best of fine dining with no snootiness at all. And food is great.

By Bob S |

Long day in Seattle and early dinner before long ride home. Lark beckoned because of the interesting, ever-changing menu. This was a great meal. Service and ambience is always important and Lark is just right on both accounts. We shared small plate starters and enjoyed delicious potato and serrano ham croquets and house-made burrata that was served with excellent balsamic and endive. Simple and delicious. Duck confit with nectarines, dandelion greens and vinaigrette was perfect combination of savory and sweet. Portion just right. Wagyu hangar steak cam medium rare and when ordered there was no discussion of the matter. Roasted potatoes perfect and whipped manchego cheese and green beans were the traditional accompaniments and executed perfectly. There were several other very interesting dishes available to meet any taste. Perhaps this review understates too much the experience of Lark. If so, that is the reviewers problem and not Lark's. Lark is excellent in every way and we will return.

What's not to like?

By millionmiler_9 |

We liked everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere was great -- a place that instantly makes you happy, with high ceilings, nice lighting, and a reasonable noise level. The food is outstanding, especially the oysters, scallops, and duck confit. The waiter was knowledgeable, personable, and attentive, without being overbearing. Finally, the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food that you get.

good, not great, and expensive

By winewimp |

We had a delightful time here with friends, but more from the company than the food and drink, although those were pretty good. Many of the reviews here seem over the top to me, since no one in our group expressed much admiration for almost anything except the cheese plate at the end. We shared 7-8 small plates and I can only recall thinking the seared foie gras was tasty. Most of the other dishes had little taste, were expensive and servings were small. Some dishes that should have been warm arrived already cool. The wine corkage has been noted to be unusually high at $30, but I assure you the markup exceeds that amount on essentially every bottle. I.e. a $13 bottle at retail goes here for $44, and a $20 bottle for $60. The $42 retail bottle I noticed priced at $85 is thus a relative bargain, since most, at least of those viewable online, were marked up at least 150%, which sadly is no longer unusual. If you need a firm seat for back support, there is nothing here for you, as all booths and benches have deep soft cushions and backs, and the chairs have flexible backs and no arms. Good service, nice people, good, well presented and well sourced food, but not memorable tasting, at high prices. No views at all in a dark area of town. I think there are many places in the area to dine with a better chance of notable food and much less risk of sticker shock. As always it may depend on just what you order. Things that caught my eye but we did not have, include scallops (at $34!), and venison osso buco (but they had substituted ox tail our night, which did not interest me). We enjoyed ourselves, but I don't suggest it as a destination unless you don't mind spending a lot and not being comparably impressed.

Sofisticated fun

Bustling restaurant with attentive and seamless service. We enjoyed the energy and of course the fantastic dining experience

I can't recommend

By AOneWorldTraveler |

My husband & I went for dinner and was really surprised. Surprised that the Chef and server couldn't let us know the ingredients in the food. With a food allergy it's challenging but not impossible. This chef & server made it impossible to eat a full meal because I was relegated to a salad, Hamachi 4 tiny pieces, and mashed potatoes. We really should have just got up and left when, after the 3rd request, couldn't get pasta without the designated sauce. Hamachi was served with Curry powder sprinkled on it - not mentioned on the menu or by the server - and clearly not bloomed before sprinkling. Mashed potatoes were pasty, gummy and so overworked I thought we were at IHOP. The salad was ridiculous...tiny pieces of cuke and tomato that were so few and far between if there were 6 of each I'd be surprised. Corn soup w/lobster mushrooms served cold, and when questioning the server, said that's how it's served! Dessert was awful - so many flavors on the yogurt plate that I couldn't figure out if I was eating sweet or savory. Please skip. Spending well over $100 - without drinks - is outrageous - there are plenty other places much better for the $$$$ or you can spend less and get a better meal.

Delicious food and excellent service

By mshell776 |

My husband and I visited Lark while on a trip to Seattle. The food was very good and our server helped us pick out a great wine (which I'm trying to find so I can buy!). The service was impeccable; everyone was so friendly and it seemed like all the staff work in a team to ensure everyone receives excellent service. The pork belly was fantastic, highly recommend! Wish we could go back and try more dishes.

Fantastic food, awful wait

By Vijay S |

My wife were in town visiting from the east coast and met for dinner at Lark with two local friends. I had heard of this place months before and a colleague who visited said it was phenomenal. Our reservation was for 7:30 but the table wasn't ready until closer to 7:45. No big deal, stuff happens, the place was pretty packed downstairs and upstairs (at Bitter/Raw). But that set the tone for the rest of the dinner... We found ourselves leaving THREE HOURS LATER, satisfied yes, but wondering where on earth the night went and how in the heck everything took so long! From the top, we didn't understand why they gave us four dinner menus and only one drink menu. We should have asked for another, but also felt that at this price point, little things like that should be par for the course. Drinks were great--I had the Precursory Cocktail, my wife had the Fancy Bohemian which she described as a "delightful holiday punch in the mouth," VERY tasty. Our waiter was great, helpful with the recommendations, and when apps came out all of us knew we were in for a gastronomic delight--Half Wild Mushrooms, Pork Cracklins, and a special Foie Gras that was out of this world. Thing is...we put in our main entree orders at the same time we ordered our starters. And when I checked my watch at 9:00 PM...there was no entree in sight. We were all baffled at how slow the kitchen was. There was absolutely no problem with the service itself--again, our waiter was great and when he wasn't around, others stepped right in to refill our water. I don't mean to sound like an impatient ogre, but these kinds of things detract from what is a phenomenal restaurant. For instance: We were set to order a nice Priorat for the table to go with the entrees: Lamb, Venison, Scallops, and Wild Boar Gnocci. Our waiter gave us a fantastic recommendation for a different wine, near the same price point, from Northern Italy that was unlike anything we'd tasted before, it was great. Problem is, this was supposed to be paired with our entrees...he brought it out and opened it sometime around 8:30...and by the time our food finally came out, 45 minutes later, we were almost finished with the bottle. The timing here was seriously off... We ended up waiting so long for our food that we all wolfed everything down because we were so hungry. Again, the food was SUPERB; I really wish that we could have savored it more if it came in a decent time span. Still, though, it was so good that we stuck around for dessert. Which once again took forever to come out. It turned what could have, and should have, been the superlative restaurant experience of our Seattle trip into an odd mix of pleasure and bewilderment. We all could have done without the bewilderment. I'll give Lark another try based on the quality of the food...we were full but weren't heavy, and still thinking about the flavors and textures long after they'd faded. But there is some serious work to be done at this place to elevate it.

Slow Service, Small portions, BIG prices

By CMB |

We took another couple here for dinner last evening as they live outside Seattle and 'always wanted to go here'. The charcuterie plate was $30+ it consisted of 6 thin slices of meat (salami of different types) a few pickled vegetables (the server didn't know what was on the plate ) and 2 (TWO) pieces of cheese. While the food was tasty, it was pricey. There were only 6 scallops on the Market Price seafood special. We had a couple drinks each, and the dessert was comp'd to us because it took over 30 minutes for it to arrive after ordered. My husband is Gluten Free-He ate the steak which was mediocre/fine. There are no GF symbols on the menu and the server did know if the sauces/soups were GF. Overall, this place seems a good place for 'foodies' looking for a unique menu than for folks just looking for a nice meal and comfortable atmosphere - Our total bill was $400+

This place is a must - can't wait to return

By polaraubie |

I met friends - all of us from out-of-town - for an evening at this place that came highly recommended. We ordered every choice to share and it was all terrific - cocktails, oysters, mussels, burrata, scallops, the wine selection, deserts - all of it. It will be tough going back - there's more I want to try - but I'll also want to repeat. Prepare to enjoy.

Wonderful

By GoDucks99 |

Great ambiance. Wonderful service. And delicious food. One of the best meals in a driving trip to Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. Not cheap. But the food is worth it. The chicken liver parfait had the consistency of ice cream -- killer.

Overall fabulous dining experience

By Deborah B |

We had read good things about Lark and were not disappointed. We had a bit of difficulty finding the restaurant and were a few minutes late for our reservations but the hostess was very understanding, welcoming and friendly. Our table was in a fairly quiet location near the wine wall and the food was outstanding. My husband started with the oysters which he said were delicious and we got the appetizer special, a mushroom and potato croquette which was wonderful. Both our entrees were outstanding, my husband got the Market Fish and as a vegetarian, I got the Burrata triangoli which was out of this world delicious with thin, perfectly cooked pasta and a delicious Meyer Lemon sauce. The Malt Ice Cream dessert was also very good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, contributing to an overall fabulous dining experience. We would highly recommend Lark when you are in the Seattle area and will definitely return when we visit the area again.

GREAT food!

By Nathan N |

This place was so so good. You definitely need a reso. This is for sure fine dining and everything is so good and doesn't disappoint!

Excellent food; poor service

By DAEsmae |

The food was excellent. We had several dishes to share and each was well balanced, well executed and flavorful. They were out of our top two wine selections and the bottle we ended up with wasn’t worth the high price. Service was slow and not good - waiter spilled a glass of water and then did not offer to replace the soaking wet tablecloth - a manager came and did so when asked. Overall server seemed both new and unmotivated, and not familiar with the menu. However - food was good enough we might give it a second chance sometime. For the price though, we expect better service.

A Gem, Very Thoughtful Service

By Black_Sox_Manager |

We were staying at a hotel a block away and wanted some choices other than the hotel restaurant. Lark is in an unassuming structure. I am so glad we investigated further. The food is creative with an emphasis on local. The ambiance is modern/industrial. The portions are very appropriate--not the kind you need to have wrapped to take home. Our server was very thoughtful, asking questions that showed that she understood the customer's point of view. There were two of us. Three of the four items we had were daily specials. My wife had a salad with grilled cucumber. (Who knew you could do that.) My salad featured grilled stone fruit. She had halibut. I had duck confit. We cleaned our plates. The food was great. The wine list features both local and international wines. I picked an inexpensive Washington state Cabernet Franc and loved it. Finally, the restaurant totally understands gluten, and most of the menu is already gluten free. We're coming back the next time we visit Seattle.

Excellent Serivce and Food

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here with friends. The staff is well-trained and helpful. Dishes are prepared with care. It is a bit pricey, but worth it!

Outstanding Meal

By alimentoD |

A great meal in a restaurant you can get a reservation at the last minute. Waitress service left a little to be desired, but the food made up for any inconvenience. Excellent accompaniments and spot-on preparation made our meal here a delight. We will return.

Superb, very creative cuisine

By spiritman13 |

My wife and I had one of the finest meals we've ever had at The Lark, certainly among the three best dinners we can remember in the past 40 years. Locally produced foods are featured, all of the highest quality. A great place for foodies, and anyone seeking an extraordinary dining experience. Call well in advance for reservations. Highest recommendation!!

Enjoyable!

By DipuKV |

A good place for dinner, Lark offers you a nice ambience, interesting selection of wines, a wide variety of food (including a high number of vegetarian options) and warm & friendly service. The location (downtown) is a plus as well.

Very good food, trendy atmosphere

By LoveCreatureComfort |

My husband and I went for a pre-Valentine's dinner. We had a half dozen oysters on the half shell for appetizer. My husband ordered the bison, and I ordered the elk for our main course. Both were tender and delicious. The bread was Italian and had a smokey butter--really good. For dessert, we shared a piece of cheesecake--it was tasty but tiny!

Excellent!!!

By Ted M |

One of the best places I've been to in a while. We shared the oysters (excellent, all three types), the catch of the day special (char, excellent), and the Wagu steak (unreal). The panacotta dessert was superb as well.

Great, great, great.

By Chris H |

I had not been to Lark’s new location, though it has been here for a while, and had a great meal. A good friend and I ordered the octopus appetizer and the burrata appetizer and both were very good. For our main courses, he had the venison, gave me a taste and is one of the best venison I have tasted. Very tender, succulent and fresh. I ordered the pork belly and it was also equally excellent. Had a roasted cauliflower with golden raisins on the side and was very good. Very good wine list. Had the Covington Petite Syrah and then a Sangiovese (can’t remember the label), both were very good. Interior design is urban chic, good acoustics (meaning not loud) and fashion forward while not overplaying the hand of the designer. Very comfortable. Oh yeah, wait staff is very good!!! Highly recommended for most any dining occasion though not for romantic intimate dates (sorry Lark).

Small portions. Big taste.

By dallasdr |

My wife and I had a memorable dinner. The seared foie gras was crisp and succulent. Only two tiny slices, but the intense flavor made it explode on your palate. The seared salmon slice was also small, but the contrast between the crispy skin and the moist flesh made the dish outstanding. The waitress was cheerful, helpful and efficient. I only wish they had valet parking.

Nice farm to table experience

By MeAgain8 |

We selected Lark based on reviews and it did not disappoint. Growing up in the Seattle and now living in Portland, Lark epitomizes the type of restaurant experience we seek out. The bartender was very accommodating and made a perfect French Pearl. well done!

Business dinner at the Lark

By Dietmar W |

I have been at the Lark a few times and they always surprised us with amazing food choices and excellent service. This restaurant is located in the heard of Capitol Hill and shows a very nice ambient. I would put this restaurant into my top ten.

Stylish innovative fare

By Mike T |

We had a great dinner at Lark. We had the burrata and octopus starters and the halibut as a shared main. They were great! Desserts were only average - but we loved the meal and will come back next time we are in Seattle.

Beautiful restaurant, Great food, Amazing service

By Catherine M |

This is the most beautiful restaurant I've ever been to and one of our favorites in Seattle. The menu offers a little bit of everything - from raw selections, to hearty meat dishes, to delicious veggie plates. The service is excellent -- Lark is a great place for a special date or evening!

A great meal bar experience

By Walter A |

We went for a casual small plate dinner and ended up at the bar which was great. Loved the ambiance and the tender was great. Our range of small plates along with some bar nibbles made for a fun and tasteful evening.

A GEM

By Margery S |

We are usually in Downtown, but this restaurant was worth the trip "up the hill". Fresh food, imaginatively prepared with a knowledgeable wait staff. Showcasing Northwest ingredients, that change by season, we are excited to go back and try the fall menu. Quail was wonderful, Duck was crispy and moist. We will be back

4.5 stars -- one of my favorites

By Boltonfish |

I was initially worried when Lark moved from the old location to this larger new space. Thankfully the food remains excellent, and the new restaurant space is much more comfortable. I have been to the new spot about 5 times in the past 12-18 months, and in my it's consistently very good and the service is excellent. Often I'll select Lark as a place to meet one or two friends where we can enjoy great food and a nicely curated wine list. Lark is that spot in my book.

Singing like a songbird - exceptional!

By balledonna |

So we have ‘tried’ to dine here several times and got pulled in other directions! Shame on us! What a gem on Capitol Hill! The service was impeccable and the food to match! We started with the almonds, bread and crispy beef tongue. The tongue was exactly that - crispy but soft and buttery. My only complaint, the bao needed more meat! :) All were worth writing home about! For our mains - we had the whole branzino and venison. I started with the fish, which was excellent, but switched with my husband. The venison was OUTSTANDING! Did you hear me - OUTSTANDING! We ended the meal with the pineapple tartin which was good. I would put this restaurant up there with Staple and Fancy. S&T still win for value for money but Lark is right there. Our bill which included 2 glasses of wine and a glass of scotch, was 142.00 (before tip). Not bad to celebrate our two birthdays! I would highly recommend this gem!

Fantastic in every way!

By Kimberly B |

Your dining experience awaits you! We live in the neighborhood and this is a class act. The food was prepared to perfection and the service is excellent. We started with small plates, the pork rillettes and ahi, followed by the hanger steak and pork chop. For desert we ordered the biscuit short cake and malt ice cream. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. Seriously, take your time here and enjoy the atmosphere. It's not too noisy but just lively enough for a fun date night.

What An Incredible Restaurant! A Must To Go!

By rmarkman |

Went to Lark on a first date and could not have a picked a better place to dine. The food was fantastic. The service was exemplary. And the vibe was awesome! We were there for 5 1/2 hours and never felt rushed nor unattended. Look no further if you are a local or visiting Seattle. You will not be disappointed.

I don't want to "Trash Talk" this place, but........

By goamazon |

So, I am treating family and friends to a night out, someone suggested Lark, supposed to have great small plates, lots of interesting flavours, so on. So after securing a reservation for ten, we did the carpool thing and all arrived at this small Capital Hill Restaurant. Now I am not big on trendy, so right off, I'm uncomfortable with the surroundings, the cramped feel and the "elite" atmosphere. Uh, oh, there is still a group at our table??? can we wait?? I am ready to bolt, but the consensus wins, (should have bolted) 45 minutes?? perhaps more we were finally seated. I let the others do the ordering, the food seems a bit over stylised and trying too hard to be unique. worst thing about the dishes we sampled, flat taste, nothing stood out, nothing rocked my boat, nothing so unique I couldn't have done as well or better at home, and for a whole lot less money. Finally, it's time to pay the bill, everyone agrees it's late, yea, well thats because it was so slow, by the time one dish came we were hungry again. I won't tell you how much this over priced meal cost, it is my record book though. Finally got home and made a real dinner, I WAS STARVING. Save yourself the trouble, time and money, eat elsewhere.

Inflexible menu for Valentines day, very rude waitress, very expensive!

By Deborah M |

We came here for our first visit on Valentines day for post-ballet 9:30pm reservation and were very disappointed to discover that they only had a 4-course tasting menu for $110 per person available. Even worse we were told we could not share one between the two of us. I found it very rude to expect us to eat that much food at 10 O'clock on a Sunday evening. The waitress then informed us we could order ala carte off the tasting menu so we came up with a game plan of several ala carte dishes to share between the two of us and the waitress rudely said "nice loophole" when we ordered. We left the restaurant with a dinner bill nearly $200 and felt completely ripped off and mis-treated. To their credit the food was very good but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Neighborhood Foodies Delight

By melizm |

A neighborhood "foodies" delight with relaxing ambiance, excellent service, and creative preparation of dishes. Portions are perfect for sharing which adds to the pleasure of being able to sample more! It's impossible to recommend any particular dish as the menu changes so sharing is best approach to make most of the dining at Lark.

Second time, even better

By Michele M |

I tried Lark few months ago and in my last visit I brought a friend and we both were delighted by the experience. I had rabbit and it was delicious with its rich sauce and mushrooms. The wine pairing was excellent as well and the staff welcoming and helpful. This time we had a table downstairs and the atmosphere was still a little magic with the lights reflecting on the windows giving a sense of a larger place. I will not miss it the next time I am in Seattle

Thanksgiving: some great some disappointing

By Sandy N |

We ordered the Thanksgiving dinner package for 3 people. On the one hand, the portions were generous and we probably could have gotten by with an order for only two. Some of the dishes were delicious like the extras we ordered: guanciale wrapped dates and the butter lettuce salad with green goddess dressing. The bread and cranberry sauce were also excellent. But the rest of the meal was very average. The stuffing was large pieces of bread, the mashed potatoes were flavorless and runny, the gravy was bland, the turkey was average, the winter squash was ok as long as the maple syrup was on it and the flavor of the brussels sprouts was very strong, The pumpkin pie filling was good, but the crust was thick and doughy. For the price that we paid, I would say that it wasn't worth it.

Birthday dinner

By Karenh614 |

Wonderful food showcasing local ingredients. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We started with chicken wings, a chucuterie plate with excellent meats and bread and butter, which is so good! We had scallops and hangar steak, both delicious with different and tasty sides.

Different, but a good different

By Dennis H |

It's an unusual menu but our server, June, did a great job of explaining the options with an emphasis on locally sourced food. She also, at our request, did a wonderful job of pairing the wines with each serving. Highly recommended for a special night out.

Average to disappointing

By Here2Sea |

The atmosphere here is lovely. The service is really good. The wine selection is limited but decent. However the food needs improvement. Raw bar platter is messy and too much work's crabs aren't pre cracked. Prawns require peeling. We had sides that were not edible due to over cooking. Some dishes were over seasoned. It wasn't just one thing, so it was enough to realize that they need help in the kitchen. Dessert was good. Go for dessert and drinks!

An ideal spot for locally sourced ingredients.

By la-rick |

The space is inviting and comfortable. We had four diners. The cocktail menu has some interesting choices, and the wine list, while not extensive, covers all the bases from a few nice by-the-glass offerings up to special occasion bottles. The charcuterie board had good variety and was enough for four to share. The entrees, while on the small side, were flavorful and satisfying. Overall the dishes are sized appropriately for three or four cources and the quality is superb. Each dish was well balanced in flavors and textures beautifully presented with attention to detail.

Loved it

By Occasional gypsies |

We went for a special anniversary celebration at the recommendation of our hotel. It did not disappoint. The decor is nice, lots of light. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We had fresh oysters as a starter, then salmon and pork belly with delicious bread. Everything was super. Solid wine list too. We would definitely visit again.

If you don't think you're in heaven, then you better examine your beliefs!

My partner in crime, (my wife) and visited Lark on a Sunday in August 2018. First we shared seared foie gras with paddlefish caviar, then I had the special Ricotta Agnolotti. This preparation was spectacular.. roasted fresno chilis, butter sauce, pattypan squash, rooftop garden ground cherries, pepitas and basil. The ground cherries took me by storm, never in my life has something sweet been so pleasantly surprising in a savory dish. The server was a gem that would brighten any dining experience.

Romantic Dinner Done Right

By sergemat |

My wife and I went there for our 30-year anniversary and that was the right call. I made a reservation in advance and they placed me into a table with decent privacy and welcomed with a glass of champagne. The atmosphere were quiet and enjoyable so we can talk easily. The service was very good. The food was delicious and the portions were tiny. It's been a while when I actually had a some room for dessert without overeating. Vine selection includes many French vines.

Really, really good!!!!

By mthreecubed |

Fantastically prepared and thoughtfully designed to combine farm to table ingredients into excellent dishes. Hanger steak was perfectly executed with an array of sides that were clearly local and fresh. One of the best in Seattle or any city.

Expensive but worth it

The atmosphere and decorations were great. The food was delicious (had the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly). It was expensive but worth it.

Always delicious food

By TrianaTeresa |

Lark has consistently excellent, expertly prepared food. They have a varied menu, with something for everyone. If you want to eat well, come here. Over the years, the front desk has changed from incredibly professional and polite to somewhat surly. The man who is currently working the front desk at dinner needs training. A guest shouldn't have to say hello first, be greeted without a smile, and have his table obviously observed to assess how long until done. Please help him do better. The waitresses, on the other hand, are typically very good, and the one who served my family last night was just excellent. Very professional, attentive, and fun. Kudos to her.

Superb Solo Dinner

By brmusicman |

I was staying at the Silver Cloud hotel, a block from the restaurant, and went in for a solo dinner. I had a wonderful experience--warm, inviting service; a strong, great cocktail; and wonderful food. It was hard to choose what to eat; the menu looked very appealing. The sunchoke soup was superb, with just the right acid to cut the richness of the soup. The hamachi crudo was fresh, and a fennel added a nice variation and good crunch. The kale salad was substantial; I wish I could bottle the lemon dressing! The "lark fashioned" cocktail was a great start...strong and stirred and perfectly bitter. Great meal! Excited to return.

Seattle Restaurant Week Favorite - Menu has so much to offer beyond

By ScottD58 |

It was Seattle Restaurant Week and had business guests in from out of town. If we wanted to go anywhere decent we'd need reservations, Thankfully, we got lucky on Opentable with a 5pm reservation. 5 hours later we were still there! 3 for $32 makes Lark pretty popular but the menu has so much to offer. We started with the Steak Tartar, awesome, plenty to share for 4 people. The Olives were worth the price. Our server had recommendations as to what's BEST because, just in case you ask EVERYTHING IS GOOD. Nice wine list with the house being a very good value. You are sure to Enjoy!

Dinner out in downtown Seattle

By Matt K |

The four of us went for dinner last night at Lark. All was so perfect as expected from personal recommendations. We started with a variety of oysters for appetizers along with our tasty cocktails, so delicious. Then onto our wine choice a nice chardonnay from Domaine Drouhin from Oregon. For entrees we chose the Quail, Pork Chop, Lasagna and Pasta special all enjoyed by the group. The dishes were expertly prepared and plentiful for dinner. Our service was very attentive and the atmosphere was on the quiet side for easy conversation. For desserts we went with the special of the night - awesome. For out of towners visiting, we were really pleased.

Delicious and Well-Presented

By Maria O |

Industrial chic decor in this two level restaurant near the University of Seattle. Delicious food with interesting combinations. Enjoyed the salmon and duck dishes. “Snacks” are served in cute mini cast iron pans. Had excellent service. Portions not large. Bathroom area in basement could be improved.

The complete experience

By Travel Addicts |

Overall, the complete experience. Exceptionally trained staff (who all seemed to be from somewhere else) and incredible food with a wine list heavy on imports. This restaurant is the complete experience. We went all-in for three full courses, wine, desert and after-dinner drinks. Everything was exceptional. Fish special was divine. Yes, it was extremely expensive for what it was. We're used to dining on the East Coast and paying those prices, but just seems oddly pretentious here. Maybe they can't find the quality of local ingredients or appropriate local staff (and need to hire and relocate them here). Only real downside was parking in the vicinity of the restaurant - it's all street parking and extremely limited.

Outstanding all around!

By RHL_MD |

This restaurant has it all....great ambience, attentive, friendly and knowledgeable service, well chosen, price friendly wine list to match everything on the menu and most of all food and flavours to die for. We were a group of 4 and amongst us everything was fantastic, from delicate flavourful hamachi crudo, seared tuna or foil gras to start, melt in your mouth caviar blini with creme fraiche, incredible pork trotters, squab and the most decadent pork belly light and crispy crust on top with flakes of pork and white grain grits with chèvre and rhubarb. The 2 desserts disappeared so fast I can’t remember all the details but did not disappoint either. There is a promising future for this restaurant and it’s brilliant staff. We would go back again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful food... very patient wait staff

By desinerg |

We went here for a work related dinner and we ended up talking half the night before ordering. Staff were very patient with us. Food was beautiful. Amazing taste and well presented

Delicious food, artful menu, great service

By lauraplybon |

Lark is a great choice if you want a really superior meal, with great service, and you like interesting/artful menus. The wine selection is also excellent. Just make a reservation and go!

Good food and vibe with confusing restrooms arrangement

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

We went with friends on our visit to Seattle, enjoyed the dinner, and the vibe is very pleasant. Our table upstairs was a great spot and our service was very good. The only thing a bit weird was taking the elevator down to the restrooms and then trying to figure out how to get back. There are multiple levels and the signage could be better (in our case on how to get to 2nd floor of Lark). Signs at the elevator could cure this easily. Very nice evening.

Eclectic Menu

By Thomas T |

This was my second time visiting Lark and the menu remains very creative. Food was expertly prepared and very well plated. The staff is extremely friendly and the ambiance lends to a cozy ski chalet.

Wonderful Seattle Restaurant

By AbsolutelyDubrovnik |

Made a reservation here after a recommendation. Had a superb wedding anniversary dinner. Great oysters, main course, desert and of course Cosmo's and Malbec. Would highly recommend.

First-rate

By BarryandJackie |

It is a very fine dining establishment that has earned its stripes over two decades of experience. Warm inviting atmosphere and good service. We enjoyed the elk as well as the scallops. We were not rushed and enjoyed the evening.

Good but somewhat hit or miss

By Glyn C |

Food was overall too salty on both entrees. My expensive fish was a little overcooked and a fairly small portion. I could not eat it without removing the very salty crust. The coulis on the plate had dried up from sitting around too long (under a heat lamp?) What we received for the money was not a great value. Cold potatoes with a few cucumbers and cherry tomatoes. The duck had a very highly seasoned piece of grain/bread that made it almost inedible. Raw oysters were good. Service was good. I've eaten here before and it was fine. Not impressed this time.

No fuss, unassuming, tucked away gem

By l0uisef0ng |

Dishes were fantastic here! With a variety of innovative but not pretentious dishes that's true to pacific cuisine. Ranging from seafood to variety of meats, incorporating flavors and ingredients of other cuisines. The steak tartare was one of the best I've had, including ones from Paris. The pasta dishes were also carefully executed, small portions but big and rich in taste and cooked to al dente. Location is also very interesting as it's off in a back alley area away from downtown which makes it even more interesting to go visit. Definitely recommend it.

A Real Taste Treat

By Bill V |

I picked Lark for a business dinner with two special out-of-town guests because it is highly regarded for being inventive and its menu features locally-produced and organic vegetables, grains, fish, and meats, all prepared in season. I like patronizing restaurants that work with local artisans, farmers, and foragers to serve the best local foods because I’ve found that careful selection of ingredients usually reflects a chef's understanding of the importance of those initial steps in the creation of an extraordinary gastronomical experience. That's what we were looking for at Lark and were not disappointed. The wait staff was attentive, professional, very courteous and helpful throughout the evening. For starters, we shared seared tuna, criollo octopus and seared foie gras. For dinner, one of my guests ordered the grilled quail with Anson Mills cheese grits, pickled peach and red eye gravy and the other followed my selection of the venison loin, grilled escarole, porcini cacciatore sauce and crispy polenta cake. The care taken was evident in the appearance and taste of every item we were served. The restaurant is attractive, has comfortable seating and it’s a great place to go with friends or business associates for an amazing dining experience.

Truly fine restaurant

By NWtraveler969 |

Lark is currently on various "best restaurants in Seattle" lists and it is well-deserved. We had the Dungeness crab bisque, Caramelle pasta, and Wagyu beef bavette. Everything was delicious and right-sized. Lovely ambiance. Service friendly, not overly formal or overbearing. It is more expensive than average but the experience is a happy one.

Disappointing

By kikirob |

Ate in the loft. Not as nice a space as more formal downstairs venue. Service was very slow. We had the burrata with local strawberries which was pretty good, hamachi which was way too salty, Dungeness crab with nuoc cham which was very disappointing. Crab was great but sauce and presentation was disappointing.

Very good food, best seats are upstairs

By georgem107 |

We went with a party of 8 people and had a very good dinner, good service and a good time. One person's dinner came out 10 minutes later than everyone else which slightly spoiled the experience. People liked the char, I liked the faro and the burrata salad. The wine list was sufficient to find something good to drink. But somehow the overall dinner was not memorable. What was missing? That delightful bite of flavor that creates a lasting impression and defines the evening - never happened. So overall no complaints but no raves either.

Excellent food and service

By AmiePetite |

I went to Lark for a dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the proportions, freshness, and presentation of everything we ordered. Drinks were creative and tasty and our server was genial and efficient. The atmosphere is elegant eclectic and we felt right at home in jeans and a little slouch. Make a reservation if you want guaranteed seating. Even at 8:30 on a Wednesday it was packed.

Sophisticated, relaxed and quality.

By lisa m |

What a great night out. The ambience was perfect for us, high end yet relaxed and a bit dressy. The food was superb. We started with the mackerel and asparagus which were both perfectly cooked and delicious, light and fresh. I had the agnolotti and my husband had the Iberian pork. The agnolotti was perfectly al dente and the flavors were fresh, balanced and very tasty. The pork was flavourful and tender, and the service was wonderful. I rate this an A+. It just all came together for a relaxing Night with wonderful food.

Great flavors, but...

By David G |

Dined at the bar. Started with "the shrubbery" (house cocktail); lovely and bright flavored. The bread and butter is good. They had recently added a bone-marrow matzoh ball soup and, truth be told, that's what drew me to dine here. The soup is delicious! The matzoh balls divine! I do wish they'd given me a bit more broth as none of the vegetables were even covered. But onward! Next, I had the venison loin. Absolutely delicious - but the 1980-ish nouvelle cuisine plating? seriously? A number of other diners had ordered dishes which came in cast iron pots -- a perfect presentation of what is, essentially, very well made comfort food. So let's lose the pretentious smear of this and drizzle of that. It was delicious but not very satisfying. So I had room for dessert. I ordered the hot chocolate which, also, was incredibly delicious. But served cold. Nothing hot about this chocolate whatsoever. It really should just be called "Drinking chocolate" - so, on a cold night, this also was somewhat disappointing. PS. I had a second mini-dinner when I got home.

Food had some hits and misses, seating is uncomfortable

By Walker95 |

I almost feel like we went to a different restaurant than many of the 5 star reviewers. First, service was okay, but certainly not first class. A few times our waitress was surprised that our bus lady had already taken care of something (e.g., delivered a course, or taken a refill on a drink order). Let me amend the first sentence of this paragraph, the bus lady was first class, but not our waitress. We had the duck foie gras and beef tongue for starters. The foie was delicious. The beef tongue dish was a disappointment. While the flavors of the tongue and the fruit were nice, there were really only 4 small bites of this flavor- they were drowned out by being wrapped in two large steamed buns. I mean really, there was a minuscule amount of flavor in this dish accompanied by relatively giant blobs of puffy dough. As I was ripping off the majority of the bun and passing it to my date, in an attempt to taste anything, the waitress came by to ask how our first course was. We complimented the foie and expressed that the beef tongue dish had way too much dough, she replied "Oh well." "Oh well." ???? That's it. I'm not sure what I expected, but something better than this. Maybe, "Oh, I am sorry, I will give that feedback to the chef" or "Oh, I am sorry, perhaps we can get something more to your liking." Obviously she did not care that much. Our main courses were good, but nothing to rave about. We did not have dessert. Our table was crammed against a black divider and next to a wall covered with shelves of bottles. It felt as if we were relegated to a broom closet. Just an average restaurant, so 3 stars. Not worth the price.

Great Foie Gras

By carlossantistevan |

I have not eaten at Lark for sometime. The experience was excellent. The Foie Gras was superb. Bucattini with Mushroom very good. Service First Class

March 21st visit

By Paul B |

Great tasting and quality food, with a local flavor! Fine dining in a cozy setting, near the school campus. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. My wife was blown away with their kale salad and creamy dressing!

Very Nice Dinner

By Wander_The_W0rld |

I would like to have given this restaurant 5 stars. The interior space is really lovely and special. Our server as well as the hostess were extremely kind and helpful. We loved the hand crafted cocktails too. For an appetizer we ordered the Hamachi Crudo with shaved fennel and it was superb. For dinner I ordered the Wild King Salmon and my husband ordered the New York Steak, both dishes were overly salty and we were a little disappointed for the price paid. For dessert we had the Blood Orange Sorbet which was delicious.

Congratulations on new gig

By kingthos |

It was a great atmosphere to toast a new gig. Had not been to Lark at this new location and was not disappointed. The menu remains classically diverse and remarkable in any pairing. For this culinary canvas, the starters included the octopus and the tartare, followed by the pasta special, rabbit with squash, the main concluded with the venison. It was very difficult to decide and I think if one ate there every night it would months before all combinations where even close to being enjoyed. Go, try, and create your favorite combination.

Nice Evening!

By misopiso88 |

We were with folks from out of town and wanted to bring them to a Seattle-centric restaurant. We chose Lark because it is consistently great. Bar is nice and the dining hall is intimate and conducive to conversation. Food was good. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a mellow dining experience.

Elegance at the oyster bar and at dinner

By sunshine_susan |

The view of over a hundred tiny lights hanging from the ceiling from the elegant oyster bar upstairs is simply wonderful. The oysters and appetizers served upstairs from several expert chefs was fun to watch but even better to eat. A terrific place for a pre-dinner drink. The real stars of the shows are the entrees - I had the salmon, which melted in my mouth, with wonderful sauce that I cannot possibly recreate (nor can just about anyone else's restaurant in San Francisco, as far as I can tell). This is the best restaurant in Seattle in my view.

great meal

By Momma L |

First night in SEattle, family dinner. Great service, extensive interesting menu. Bread (had to pay for it) was delicious. YOU MUST TRY THE SKIRT STEAK. It was amazing. Two from our party ordered it and although everyone liked their dishes, the steak was the winner by far.

Good food, cool atmosphere

By fran J |

We were at Lark for a business dinner and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We started with olives, almonds and a chef's charcuterie tray...which when ordering, I thought was on the expensive side. When it arrived it packed a delicious bang for the buck. The wine list was not extensive, but quite nice and fairly reasonably priced. The kale salad was huge and was shared around the table...those who partook declared the dressing to be amazing. Very lemony. Our table was quite eclectic and ordered the duck cassoulet (mine and it was fabulous-crispy duck with very moist beans and carrots), the ling cod special, the hanger steak, the octopus bomba and the venison. There were lots of clean plates, though the portion sizes where generous. Service was very attentive with waters, etc. constantly being filled. The only downside was that our table was close to the door and easily tripped over by people going past. Small complaint. There was on street parking available. Don't park in the IHOP parking lot. Apparently they are quite vigilant!

Very Good...but not great. Nice space.

By Geoff G |

Lark's food is pretty and well presented. Unfortunately, it is not as interesting tasting as it looks. The tuna crudo was somewhat bland, which was a common theme. Excellent house made bread and delicious lard butter. The interior space is very nice, hip and inviting. While disappointed in the dishes we had, would try it again.

Best in Seattle!

By BaldAndHappy |

Easily the best food I have had in the last 10, 20 maybe even 30 years. No exaggeration. My wife and I each did the four courses and were able to sample 8 dishes between us. My favorite was the chilled mussels. It’s like eating a symphony of taste. The rabbit croquettes were outstanding. The crème brûlée cake and the three cheese desserts are both outstanding. Service? So professional. We took our time eating and they treated us like kings. Did I mention the breads? Wow!!!

Not Much Bang for The Buck

By GeL |

Food: GOOD (not great!) Drinks: GOOD (not great!) Service: GOOD (not great!) Price: HIGH considering everything else was just “GOOD” Note: Not disclosing that there is a 3% surcharge didn’t help boosting our overall very average dining experience.

Birthday dinner - was perfect.

By DianneTahoe |

Wonderful menu, great staff, best table - special occasion to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Don't miss it!

Lark's Excellence seems effortless

By Serni253 |

It was our first time, visiting during the city's biannual Restaurant Week, and Lark passed the audition with flying colors. The supporting cast knew their roles well, the producers of the food were first class, and whoever the director is in the kitchen knows how to meld the lights, action, and performance of every facet of this dining experience into subsequent endorsements to our fellow patrons of good restaurant finds. Such a pleasure to get service that seems effortless, relaxed, and confident.

Husband's birthday dinner

By AshleyRupp1111 |

Convenient Coat check, best pinot noir I've EVER had, my duck confit was crispy yummy yummy, oysters with champagne vinaigrette (divine), and you ruined my husband for any other dessert other than quince. Our table was a tiny one tucked in the corner but considering I made reservations 24 hours prior we really can't complain. Pricey oh yeah, but it was damn good money well spent. We'll talk about that meal forever. All and all we've never had an equal meal, it was a great birthday treat.

Amazing Experience!!

By BoiseIdahoMike |

My wife and I decided to dive at Lark while we were in Seattle for our 1 year anniversary and that ended up being an incredible decision! We narrowed down restaurants in the city through the restaurants / chefs accolades - John Sundstrom is quite a decorated chef and the menu looked very intriguing. While we ended up sitting at a table about 1 foot from one of the owners - JM Enos who is married to John Sundstrom. So, as the night progressed he ended up at the table as well. As JM took note of what we ordered she would tell us about it and even decided to share some of her favorites that she and her table were ordering with my wife and I. My wife and I love great food, but to know that restaurant is owned by genuinely nice people made the experience that much better! Every item we had was excellent, but our absolute favorites - of the bread, 3 starters, 6 entrees and 4 desserts we tried - were the bread with butter and lardo, seared foie gras, wagyu beef, salmon with bacon, and the fig tartan. We will definitely dine here again the next time we are in Seattle!!!

Ehhhhhh

By Kimberly W |

Was really excited to try this restaurant and I have to say I was disappointed. Food was fresh and seasoned well but can't say the flavors were on point. Beautiful presentation though.

Outstanding in every way

By bmanpennsylvania |

We had such a wonderful dinner at Lark. Our server, Tessa, was so sweet and accommodating. And the food was delicious. My wife and I shared the fried oysters and then we each ordered the spaghetti with crab. Both were absolutely incredible. We finished with the Peanut butter Panna Cotta which was also delicious. Highly recommended.

Nice First Meal in Seattle

By Christopher M |

Lark was a wonderful first meal in Seattle. I would absolutely recommend. We ate upstairs and really enjoyed the ambiance. We started with the Carman Ranch Steak Tartare which was excellent. Tartare had great flavor and came with delicious crackers.I also got a couple oysters which were to die for. They were super flavorful and were a little buttery which I really enjoyed. For dinner we had a venison special and a duck special both of which were excellent. Dinner was a bit pricy but overall was a very good meal! Definitely recommend if in the area.

Disappointing food

By Oliver |

Located in a quiet neighborhood tucked behind an iHop, the space inside the restaurant is pleasant and the wait staff were friendly, but the food was very disappointing. My entree - farro with market vegetables for $28 - was soaked in fat and the vegetable were fried and/or baked so that no flavor remained. My wife was happier with her venison ($44). Also - a minor gripe - is it really necessary to charge for crackers or bread on top of the $15 for the cheese selection?

Brunch a huge disappointment

By MarkInMadrona |

We have been regular fans of Lark for years, and decided to try them for brunch recently. What a disappointment! We have come to appreciate Lark for their inventive and approachable cuisine, as well as the consistency of their product. This experience was anything but. We ordered two dishes, one the omelette, the other biscuits and gravy. Both were bland beyond belief and completely belied their description. And $15 bucks for an omelet with maybe two eggs, some unknown green sauce and tasteless (though apparently "roasted" green chiles) was an insult. In addition, the kitchen was slow as molasses. It was over 20 minutes after taking our order that we were served, and this with a very limited menu of very "plate ready" options. I counted 30 patrons and only two in the kitchen. If you are going to offer brunch in Seattle, and especially on Capitol Hill, you have to bring more to the game than what Lark currently offers.

Spectacularly good.

By Caleb P |

Sat at the bar and had the wagyu steak tartare and octopus. Both were impeccable in terms of flavor, balance and presentation. I can't believe this food cost so (relatively) little. The drinks are a very nice accompaniment, with new inventions you won't see elsewhere and something for every palate.

Note the corkage fee if you bring wine

By seattlecouple651 |

Lark has great food, expensive, but creative and very tasty. I normally bring my own bottle of wine to restaurants, but Lark has a $30 corkage fee. I purchased wine off their reasonably priced and good selection wine list, but personally was disappointed that the corkage fee was almost equal to many of the wines on their list.

Great restaurant!

By gopher_fan |

My husband and I were staying at the Silver Cloud on Broadway just around the corner, and finally made it to Lark. We frequent Seattle, but usually stay downtown or in Ballard, but Lark has been on our “must eat at list” for some time. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent. We were there on a Wednesday night, so it was not busy (although we made reservations on Open Table not knowing). The drinks were very good. I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly, with amazing potatoes. Dessert was a fantastic chocolate cake. So rich and delicious. We sat upstairs, which I would recommend.

Great Menu Choices w/ Hits & Misses

By jtssea |

Wonerful appetizers and small plate starters. Excellent oysters , crudo, beef tartar and bread. The wine choices were very nice and reasonably priced. The entrees had some issues. 2 people ordered the halibut and it was overcooked. The flavors were great but it was sad to see the gorgeous fish overcooked. The octopus dish was really flavorful but small and not presented well. The desserts were nice but not great. The icecreams were delicious. The desserts would have benefitted by some sauces and more of the fruit and crunch aspects. The new location and decor is great. Great service Will try it again.

Nice atmosphere, disappointing food

By Jne24 |

I went here with my wife last week. While the atmosphere and service were both great, we weren't blown away by the food. The meal started well with an excellent parsnip soup, and the pasta course was tasty. However, my scallops lacked flavour and my wife's beef was a little tough. Our deserts were full-on disappointing: rock hard cold chocolate mousse and very dry apple cake. We also had an odd occurrence with the bathrooms. The bathrooms are downstairs in the restaurant, but from what I could see, were not accessible any other way than to go through. Despite this, both bathrooms had key-pad codes, with the code printed just above it. The code for the women's bathroom was incorrect, and I was forced to use the men's restroom, which was a little disconcerting for me and the gentleman who walked in as I was washing my hands. When I left the bathroom, another woman was stuck outside the bathroom also trying to use the code, and was forced to also use the men's. When I mentioned this to the restaurant, they did not take action.

Amazing Dining Experience

By Jerry K |

The service and food were first class. We had the four course tasting menu, with wine pairings. While it was costly ($500+), it was worth every penny of it. Our server was point on., Would definitely go back. Highly recommended.

Wished it was better for the price paid

By mshbnyehud |

Visiting Lark for dinner comes with much anticipation based upon TripAdvisor and other reviews. I only wish it had lived up to all of the hype. The food tastes are extraordinary -- let's be clear. No way I give this restaurant a "Very Good" rating if the kitchen is flawed in any way. It's not. The service, while attempting to be perfect, made a couple of errors. And the quantity of food served, for the price, needs to be increased by 20%. The portions aren't up to the price paid. We split four dishes -- all terrific. Burrata and tomato salad is superb, as is the cannelloni (loved that it was served in a caste iron dish). We also enjoyed the General Tsao eggplant which accompanied the hanger steak. The problem with the hanger steak was that the server never asked us how we wanted the meat to be cooked, and it came out VERY rare. Tasty yes, but hard to chew and consume. My mistake for not remembering to tell the server, but really it's the server's responsibility to ask the diner how they want steak to be prepared. We debated sending the dish back, and ultimately were embarrassed to do so. Ended with the apple tart desert which was fantastic! We also asked the server for a glass of ice for our water, and it was never delivered. Chairs are hard to sit in for 1.5 hours. They are a hard surface, not comfortable. For all these reasons, we probably will not go back. The value just doesn't justify it.

Lovely dinner spot

By Stacy Strickland |

Enjoyed dinner with wine pairing at Lark on Friday. I had the watermelon, jicama, basil salad which was full of flavor... and very filling. Compared to the size of the first courses ordered by the others in my party, the salad could really be cut in half and still be plenty. For the second course, I had the buratta - very delicious and lovely with strawberries. As a third course, I had the gnocchi. I enjoyed it yet struggled to finish it (probably because of the large salad) For dessert, I had the chocolate mochi cake. The flavor was good, yet I didn't care for the texture - it seemed too dry. There was a lacquered peach with the cake which was delicious. The wine pairings were nice. The service was great.

An Anniversary Surprize

By savannahsandy |

Our adult children helped us celebrate our 50th anniversary at this charming Seattle restaurant. The food was both delicious and interesting. The wine list was slightly disappointing with prices for just ok wines at the high level and choices by the glass limited. The service was lovely.

Excellent

By WonderWander |

One of the great meals we've had. Intriguing menu, brilliants concocted flavors, and a perfectly chill atmosphere.

Wow - brunch

By LOMike |

Four of us had brunch here. We began with a "mimosa" combo that was unusual for include a bottle of French bubbly and orange, grapefruit and pineapple juices to make a variety of mimosas. The chili omlet was perfectly prepared with just the right spicyness. Others had brisket hash and eggs benedict. All of the dishes were unique and delicious. The service was friendly and top notch. We had hoped to get in for dinner, but there were no reservations to be had. Now we know why!

Wonderful Setting and Great Food (Farm to Table)

By Stella S |

Wonderful architectural setting, high ceilings and wonderful natural light. The menu is wonderful in terms of great fish, vegetables and meat dishes. Fun wine list and great recommendations. We had an excellent server, who recommended a great Pinot Noir. Our food was so fresh with wonderful simple yet complex flavors

Terrific dinner

By Happado |

A group of us rolled in for a great dinner here. Some were a little late and the staff was relaxed and friendly about it. We started with a charcuterie plate and then went into main courses. The special salmon was terrific and each of us was happy with our meals. A top notch place. Would definitely go back.

Always depend on a great evening

By Renee B |

Lark has been in Seattle for years and has continued to hold to the high standards of food and service. The fresh seafood choice is a guaranteed winner. To start order from the sushi bar list. The simple slices of tuna or scallop will arrive with just the right touch of acid and spice. The little cast iron pan of rosti potatoes are a must to accompany any meal. The menu is meant to be shared so try several dishes. Order the Madeleine basket with the chocolate sauce to finish.

Epic Taste of Seattle

Loved Lark. High end feel but laid back atmosphere. The staff was friendly and most eager to meet your every request. They use local producers for most of their food.

Great Service and Ambiance

Service was friendly and attentive. Food was well portioned, flavorful, and creative. Ambiance was eclectic and comfortable

Fun. Excellent food & service

Great dinner. I ordered the pork chop dinner for two. Wow. It was superb. And I'm super picky. The cocktail selection was imaginative and varied. The appetizers were a good start to a delicious meal. Bring a big wallet.

Memorable 21st anniversary diner!

By Kimberly B |

Lovely meal, we had several courses and each one had aspects that will not be forgotten. Cheese selection was a great way to start, Steak tartare was really superb. Oysters were so good we had to duplicate the order! Duck confit is a must. Wow the desserts were joyful concoctions. Will return to dine again!

pretty room, special occasion splurge

By bjaneh |

the dishes are carefully prepared and unusual, but a bit on the small side, so you'll need an appetizer as well as an entree. Cocktails are primo, with exotic ingredients and unusual flavor combinations On street parking is fairly easy in the area

Everything perfect

By ViaggiatoreGoloso |

For a business dinner we stayed at this restaurant where we had dinner on the first floor in an area all reserved for us. The place is classy. Service is great. Very good dishes. Excellent cocktails and wines. Hard to find a smudge.

An excellent place a little out of downtown

By Michele M |

I am usually in Seattle for business and staying downtown. I was looking for a place out of downtown but walking distance. This one was approx 20 min uphill walk from downtown in an area new to me. I enjoyed the walk on a sunny evening, walked around the area which is full of bars and restaurants, and seated in a nearby park in the sunset waiting dinner time. Coming from the outside the restaurant gives the impression of being a little dark. I was seated upstairs and when outside became dark I enjoyed the lights of the restaurant which creates a magic and warm atmosphere. Service was attentive and the menu reserved some excellent surprises. I was alone with a book and had a great evening with good food and wine in a relaxed setting. I will certainly come back.

What a rip

By adugan1 |

Ambiance is nice but in general, if you tend to go for over-hyped, over-priced restaurants that can’t deliver on their food, then you’ll love this place.

A good meal

This restaurant recently moved locations. The new space is bigger and nicer. Their menu is large, so it can be a bit overwhelming. But it was all good. We had the tuna and jamon crudo - great. Pasta with rabbit - great. Angel hair with oso bucco - great. Arctic char - yummy crispy skin. Octopus - aslo good - but a bit mushy. The desserts were pretty good too. Overall - a fine evening.

A perfect setting and a wonderful feast of delightful food

By HaydnB |

The restaurant is in a modern setting just on the edge of Seattle University's campus. Even though it was busy, each table is far enough apart to make it feel very intimate and to allow for easy conversation. The wait staff were quiet and unobtrusive, appearing at the right moment and leaving us to ourselves for the privacy of our meal. We began with lovely, warm, bread served with butter and lardo, this tasted lovely spread on the bread. For starters I had seared foie gras served with a duck crackling cornbread, ruby port duck jus, brown butter figs. The liver was cooked perfectly, with the one edge seared and crisp, but with the rest soft and juicy. A delicious taste experience. My partner opted to start with the Montana wagyu steak tartare which had capers, cornichons, aioli and crackers with it. He made his usual joke about it being 'a little undercooked'. The dish was very well seasoned. My partner became quite ecstatic about it. With its strong flavoured, nicely textured meat. At Lark the Italian tradition of an antipasto, pasta and mains is maintained. So, we were offered an 'Il Secundo' (second) course. From this I choose the Octopus a la plancha with Bomba rice, Piquillo peppers, smoked jowl. The rich sauce, which I had seen crafted by hand in the kitchen just beside us, was delightful. It carried the strength of the octopus and added a whole new exciting flavour making it hard for me to decide if I liked the sauce or the octopus more. Though I think it was the combination of both that made it so perfect. My partner opted for paccheri pasta which was served with a lamb and pork ragu, green garlic, dandelion and Parmigiano-Reggiano. The shape of the pasta allowed the ragu to flow over and through it, making it easy to eat. The seasoning of the dish was again superb, the ragu was rich, more pork flavoured than lamb flavoured, but very good. He will be looking out for dishes like this when he goes to an Italian elsewhere. For mains (or thirds if you prefer) I had the Pork Belly this was crisp on the top and juicy below. It came with charred corn, mushroom, padron peppers, tomato aioli, chili vinaigrette and pepitas. While I love my meat the vegetables and sauce came as a great counterpoint to it, and were truly excellent in flavour and texture. My partner's main was Crispy Duck Leg served with pozole verde, hominy, green chickpeas, spring onion and crispy radish. My partner would have liked a bit more crispiness in his duck. The meat was perfectly cooked and soft, but the skin was not as crisp as he would have liked. The sauce had a spiciness with it, making it feel warming and comfortable. The vegetables were crisp and delightful. Even though we had eaten very well we thought we would ask to see the dessert menu and were both grateful that we did. My partner ordered the blackberry sorbet with raspberry granita, shiso and matcha rice pudding. My partner loved the sharpness of the sorbet. Often berry sorbets are too sweet, but these were not. The rice pudding had good bite but was overall soft and comforting, just as rice puddings should be. My partner was not sure about the use of matcha in a rice pudding. It would have tasted nice enough without the introduction of the tea flavour. I, to my delight, discovered the restaurant offered a selection of Cheese. I chose: Dinah’s Cheese, Vashon, WA - a silky, luscious rich cow’s cheese; Garrotxa, Catalonia – an earthy, strong, aromatic goat’s cheese and Forme d’Ambert, Auvergne, France – a rich, salty, blue cow’s cheese. Each was excellent, with my preference being for the strong, tasty French blue. Lark provided excellent food and a delicious well-paced meal, with no rush or pressure – it was truly excellent.

Fantastic flavour but portion size is small......very small.

By weloveadventure09 |

I love Seattle and all it has to offer and I had heard that the Lark was a great place to go. The staff were friendly and efficient. My wife started with a squash soup with toasted marshmallow while I went with the octopus. The soup was fantastic with huge flavour. When my appetizer came out I thought it was one of those sample plates.....there were four pieces no bigger than my thumb nail. Don’t get me wrong, it was very tasty but I could have eaten all four pieces at once. I don’t expect to have a huge portion as it is, indeed, an appetizer but at $16 it was very expensive for what I had. We then had a steak, which again, was very flavourful but small in portion.

Lively Fun Evening

I had a large group to dinner last week while visiting Seattle. I love the cozy warm rustic feel of the restaurant. Very comfortable. I started with raw oysters. They were really good and this comes from someone who spends the weekends on the gulf coast. I had the rabbit pappardelle as my main course and didn't opt for a large plate. Interesting wine list and enjoyed our Fr. red. I would highly recommend the restaurant. it is perfect for large groups.

Fine Dining in Seattle

By keenihan |

This establishment was recommended in the in-flight magazine. It was very good. The atmosphere was professional but relaxed and the food of very high quality. our starters and mains were excellent - delicately flavoured and beautifully prepared. They were top shelf. The dessert (rhubarb parfait) was a little odd and we found we are not fans of buckwheat cake- at least as it was done at lark - it just tasted off. The rest of the dessert was lovely and we cleaned the plate. We also had cheese which was good but the portion was miserly. The only point of criticism and this can be levelled at most of the USA restaurants we have eaten at is the ridiculously poor choice of USA wine by the bottle but especially by the glass. Lark only had one white and one red USA wine by the glass - and this is in a famed high quality, wine making state. What's with the fascination with french and spanish wine.- seems a bit of a cultural cringe.

three star experience; 5 star prices

By MattieBo |

If you are going to call your self artisan focused and charge patrons for bread, olives, etc to start, you better be really good at the entire experience. In this case, we were celebrating a milestone birthday. The service, though good, was slow. After a round of drinks and appetizers (which were good) it took an eternity to get our main courses, and all three of them came out cold. At prices between $36 and $44 per entry, this should never happen. By the time the server came to check, we were more than half way through our main courses. We told her al three were cold. Although she offer to "heat them up", we declined. Usually that means a quick microwave job and a very dry return which leaves you no better off. Cold entrees in a place that positions itself as a top restaurant just does not fly. Having said all of that, the bar was excellent; great drinks. The desserts at $12 per were not terribly good or innovative. There are far better options in Seattle.

try the unusual

By BJaneH |

Lark has changed locations and is much improved. It's a place to try bison or elk or eel or sweetbreads. The cocktails are inventive, too, including a great one made with cucumber and ginger with vodka. The bread (for which they charge $4!) comes with both butter and lardo. The decor is hip, the kitchen is open, and the service is attentive but not intrusive.

Lark is now one of my new favorite restaurants in Seattle

By adalbert3 |

The three of us had a spectacular dinner--our server was very pleasant and was knowledgeable about our wine. We liked the high ceilings in the front room with all the white lights--it was a very pleasant vibe. The House Bread with the butter and lardo is a great way to get started. We all shared the Hamachi Crudo, the Octopus Crudo, the Wagyu Steak Tartare and the Burrata appetizers. For dinner I had the Campanelle Pasta and my wife and son went with the Venison Loin. My son and I split the Tarte Tatin dessert and we all agreed that we very much enjoyed every single one of our choices. We will be coming back.

Excellent spot

By travelledbynature |

Was in Seattle for a concert so we were at Lark for an early 5:30 dinner. Service was great, the room is upscale but casual and comfortable. We shared a beet/cheese plate and grilled octopus to start -- both very tasty. Had a grilled whole fish and pork belly for main courses. Fish was a huge highlight.

Delicious!

First night of our holiday & if this is the best meal we have on the holiday I won't be disappointed. Apparently it's a new location, (about half hour walk from Downtown) but it felt very established. It's a fairly tightly packed place & very buzzy but it didn't feel cramped or noisy. The menu is a bit of a nightmare as there is so much on it I wanted to try. I think you can go down the multiple small plates route, though that could get pretty expensive as its not a cheap place. So, we stuck with the old-fashioned starters/mains approach and everything was superb. We sampled the burrata & eel for starters then the fish & pasta specials for mains, the former being Arctic char. We couldn't fault any of it. The portions weren't huge so I had room for the banana split pudding which was probably my least favourite dish but still good. We tried a couple of cocktail aperitifs - precursory cocktail & embarkation - strange names & unusual combos for me, but both rather delicious. We also had a very drinkable local Chardonnay from a wine list surprisingly light on local wine options. Service was superbly friendly & professional throughout, not fast, just right. Highly recommended.

Consistently good.

We shared a meal with friends on Christmas Eve, for a Pris Fixe menu, though we have also frequented Lark on other more casual occasions and had the same experience. The new location is wonderful -- industrial chic. We enjoyed a booth and an unrushed experience. The service was personal and attuned. The food was wonderful. I have not had the experience I have had at other restaurants where a meal or a dish lasted in memory long after it was eaten. (Camino in Oakland comes to mind.) Nevertheless, the food is trustworthy and worth the expenditure of time and money. I had oysters for the first course, and they were lovely.

Great Food and Cool atmosphere

By James K |

We had an 830 reservation Friday and were greeted by a gruff hostess when we arrived at 820 pointing out immediately that we were early and the table would be ready on time. I had simply walked in the door and given my name. We were in no hurry and happily went to the bar. There was really no need for her to be curt. That said, the rest of the evening was perfect. The bar tender was a true professional. He crafts excellent drinks and has a wonderful demeanor. Our waitress was on point with help, delivery, and attentiveness. Not too much and not too little. And, the food was truly delicious. Being our first time there, we tried a bit of several different things and they were all great. Worth every cent

Don't keep me in the Lark

By fungus49 |

Summary: small and cramped, not "cozy" which is what they are trying to pull off here. Beautiful setting, but for anyone who is not petite, expect to be sitting on top of others in your party as well as the parties on either side of the table. Food was delicious but very small portions. I'm not down with this trend in the restaurant industry so I won't be going back.

Great food, with imagination and panache

By jn0987 |

Truffle flavored chips, cornish hen stuffed with foie gras, quincy tart. This food forward restaurant is not easy to find, but it is very much worth it. Located on a side street near Seattle University (one block away), this is every bit as good as previous reviews have made it out to be. The setting is a modern, sleek setting. The wine list is reasonable and well constructed. It was especially busy when we arrived. Yet the server was friendly and as helpful as could be. And the noise level was not deafening. With table cloths and other devices to dampen the sound. We loved the specials offered on a Dining Week. We liked it so much that we plan to return as soon as we can find occasion to do so.

Unique Farm to Table

By Travel with the Crow’s |

The establishment is a little hard to find in the dark but well worth it. The menu changes with availability however we had the butternut squash soup, sunchoke chips, oysters, and the Farro dish. We had the apple tart for dessert. All were outstanding. The menu contains many unique dining items. Our waitstaff was attentive and professional.

Disappointing Return

By brmusicman |

I previously ate here and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Thus, I was excited to return when again in Seattle on business and staying at a hotel nearby. Unfortunately, on this visit, I had a very poor experience. The problem was primarily service. I had a reservation. The hostess was rude and seemed annoyed that I was dining solo. I was placed at a terrible table in a back corner of the restaurant. I then watched a server welcome a bunch of other tables seated after me and ignore me for several minutes. When she came-up, she did not introduce herself or the off-the-menu specials and seemed to want to rush the interaction with me. I ordered. The food was decent--although served at a slower pace than surrounding tables--but my server disappeared. She never stopped back by to ask what I thought of my meal, offer another glass of wine, etc. It got so bad that in order to leave the restaurant, I had to stand-up, find a server elsewhere on the floor, and ask for my check, explaining that my original server was nowhere to be found. This server did take care of the check, but offered no apology for the atrocious service. I recognize that a solo diner brings in less revenue that group tables, but no one likes to feel as if they are an irritation for doing business with an establishment, and no one likes to be completely ignored.

Excellent fine dining.

By 5heartfamily |

This restaurant has a lovely intimate atmosphere and beautiful modern decor. Even better, it comes with excellent service, food and beverages! This is definitely a "Food Lover's" experience. The menu offered so many selections, more than usual at this level of dining; one side of the menu was marked "Bitter-Raw" (B/R), with Cocktails, Crudo & Charcuterie, and the opposite side "Lark" had Snacks, Cheeses, Starters, Pastas Grains & Dumplings, Mains, Sides, and later a separate Dessert menu. Everything was wonderfully tasty and beautifully presented.

first impression service staff are so snooty, came across as if we were there for them. food was ok, not as good I was expecting, at times a little being to over imaginative, pork belly was chewy and had far to much fat, clams were to salty. would not recommend to anyone

Restaurant week Visit: delicious

By Coonhounder |

Had dinner during Seattle restaurant week and were very pleased with our Lark experience. Beautiful restaurant and terrific staff. Overall the food was terrific: locally sourced, perfectly prepared. Tres leches cake was not terrific, but I ate it all. Worth it.. go to Lark, you won't be disappointed.

Everything was delicious!

By Jennifer D |

I couldn't understand why this place was so quiet on a Friday night but then I heard they just moved locations. While get yourself there because the food is unique and delicious! Our favorites were a starter of green chickpeas (order it!),followed by the semolina gnocchi and duck confit. Fresh flavors, local produce, and share plates so you can try many different dishes. The cocktails and the wine list are solid as well.

Something just slightly off

By Kinda Invisible |

Thank you for great service! We had a reservation and were promptly greeted and seated. The atmosphere and noise level is exactly what a restaurant of this caliber should be (so thanks for that, too!). We started with drinks and starters for the table. Oysters were good, burrata cheese serving was miniscule, and the pork rillette was divine as is the bread option. However, please figure out a way to make the number of crackers offered with a pate match the amount of spread. Friends don't need to arm wrestle over crunchy bits so they have something to put their rillette on! And, is it possible not to charge for bread--at least the first serving or something? The special (a pasta) was good but the steaks were incredibly disappointing. We sent one back for a re-fire and it didn't do much for the chewy factor. Scallops are very small but okay. Nothing on the dessert menu seemed "worth it" so we skipped it and called it a night. We agreed we'd rather try another place than return. Not for any huge run-the-other-way reason, just because nothing really knocked our socks off.

Excellent.

We were only in Seattle for one night and are very happy we chose Lark for dinner. We had no reservation but took our chances and got a table for two upstairs. Downstairs looked a little more formal and there are also two bars to sit at. I would describe the area we were in as casual fine dining. Beautiful simple room. Tables were nicely spaced and it was a pleasantly energetic atmosphere without being too loud. The service was great. Our main server Stephen was attentive and timely and gracious. A good amount off attention without overdoing it. A female server also visited our table and was very pleasant. Drinks were well made. Food was excellent...burrata cheese very fresh and yummy. Seared fois gras with crispy chicken skin made me want to order another for dessert!!! Daily pasta garganelli was perfection. We shared 3 desserts: all amazing. We left very happy...can’t say enough good things about Lark. Can’t WAIT to go back. Thank you, Lark, you made our quick trip to Seattle from Vancouver BC well worth it.

Attended a "private" function on a Saturday evening in the loft. Exceptional, professional staff served absolutely amazing food. Our hostess pre-selected our menu and everything that was plated was delicious. Will definitely return whenever we re-visit Seattle!

Unfussy fine dining

By Beverly Y |

Lark Restaurant has grown since its emergence a few years ago into a multifaceted operation that includes the flagship dining room, plus a more casual bar—Bitter/Raw—as well as daytime take-out options, Meat & Bread and Slab (pies and sandwiches). It might be overwhelming or overreaching but for the simple elegance of the food, and the attention to flavour. My daughter and I enjoyed dinner for the first time at Lark on March 26. The complex in which the restaurant is situated is easy to find, and well sign posted. The dining room has high ceilings, subdued natural hues accented by cobalt blue upholstery and flattering suspended lighting. Unlike many contemporary dining rooms, Lark actually encourages conversation; no need to shout past the din of other diners, overly loud music or kitchen noise. Our server picked up on our cues for n/a drinks with two refreshing offers: a lemon soda and house made custom mocktail. We started with a small plate of pan fried wild mushrooms, followed by delicate hamachi crudo, sashimi strewn with a pickled slaw, dressed with pistachio, fennel seed and lemon. Subtle and sensational. For mains we had pastas: yummy ricotta-stuffed triangoli in lemon butter, and sumptuous pappardelle with rabbit confit and sheep cheese. Don't let the dainty size of the plates fool you; both dishes are rich and satisfying. And wisely, the portions leave room for dessert. I had a gorgeous pineapple tarte tatin with caramel ice cream, large enough for sharing, and my daughter enjoyed the malt ice cream with hazelnuts and chocolate surprise. Here the kitchen's elegant plating might have benefited from inversion, as placed on top, the chocolate disk proved resistant to spoon and fork seeking ice cream below. Overall, we found Lark to be an approachable, unfussy and convivial experience of contemporary northwest cuisine worth returning to and sharing with friends.

Fun to Try

By Ann T |

We met friends and had a unique and flavorful experience. It IS expensive, so it is nice for a special occasion or celebration. My husband LOVED his venison, best he ever had, seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. The wine selection a hit. Love the gnocchi. Bread was good, but really not necessary. We also had the salmon tartine, and having something like that made getting the bread redundant. It was fun to share and taste different things, so under the right circumstances, I'm sure we'd go again, if possible.

Outstanding!

By CAROL G |

We came her for our 20th anniversary and had an outstanding experience. We had oysters to start, the scallops special, the quail dish and then cheese/madelines for dessert. We told the waitress it was our 20th anniversary and she brought us comlementary sparkling wine. I am gluten intolerant and they have a lot of wonderful and safe options. The service and food were outstanding. We would definitely go again.

Good Food, poor service

By Malim27 |

A group of us (5) went on recommendation. We were seated upstairs and water and menus provided quickly. Thereafter, we had to wait for everything. To order drinks, to order food, to ask for wine etc. There is a theme here..you get the picture. In the middle of service, our waitress was switched but the same problem continued. Interestingly, I recall the poor service but don't remember too much about the food (which I think was good). On this evidence, I can't see what all the fuss is about. Just goes to show that good food is not enough to make a place great.

Good food in lovely setting

By marinam9042017 |

A group of my daughter's friends had 17th birthday breakfast here yesterday. Their group of 10 were seated in the alcove in the back which was perfect..their own space, but still part of the restaurant. We and the other couple sat at our own table in the main part. The best part of the restaurant is the ambience. Restored warehouse, high ceilings with reclaimed wood beams, big windows with lots of light even on this gloomy, wet day, punctuated by pendant lights dotting the ceiling. I had the Shashuksa ..kind of like a hash with two poached eggs. served in an individual cast iron pan. Well presented, but bland and mostly croutons and potatoes. Others had the omelette which was well liked, as well as the brisket. The girls gave rave reviews for the French toast and the avocado toast. Excellent (very strong), coffee, and friendly service. Not sure I would return for breakfast, but would try again for dinner.

Highlight of our trip!

By Capt-Canuck5 |

We celebrated our 22nd anniversary at Lark recently and this restaurant has shot to the top of the list of our favourite Seattle restaurants. The meal got off to a wonderful start with some complimentary sparkling wine to acknowledge the occasion which was very much appreciated. We loved the small plates at Lark as we always love sharing a number of dishes. The fresh gem salad, steak tartare, octopus a la plancha, and a brilliant pasta special with squid ink and braised octopus were all fantastic. We loved the focus on seasonal produce throughout the menu, and wine list was filled with interesting wines by the glass. Our server could not have been better in terms of pacing our meal, answering our questions, and managing a wonderful evening for us. The cherry clafoutis was a perfect close to our evening. Lark works as both a special occasion restaurant or a great date night spot. We loved the gorgeous room as well.

Quaint atmosphere apps where very small and overpriced. The Halibut entrée was excellent. The service was not good Karissa was not engaging pompous and unfriendly. Definitely not a repeat for me

Started well then it was downhill

By Ateneo68 |

Our appetizer of 3 cheeses was excellent, and our order of steamed creamed mussels were great, plump and fresh. But when our main entrées came, 2 of them were salty, the burger and the lamb osso bucco. I love osso bucco, but mine was salty and the worst osso bucco I ever had ...... too salty and a little dry. I was disappointed and don't think I'm coming back. The desserts were also average for something that cost $12 dollars.

Very good food.

Went here with a big group and ordered almost everyrhing in the menu. Food was very good, loved the oysters and the porkbelly with grits. The desserts were kind of a letdown. Still a very satisfying experience.

We enjoyed a dinner here during Restaurant Week. The food was fantastic, and we also enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. The desserts were the only thing that didn't wow me, but cocktails, first and second courses were all outstanding. Pleasantly surprised to get champagne because I marked it was an anniversary meal on OpenTable when making the reservation.

Fabulous Superlatives Galore

By pookala |

It's been a year since my last meal at Lark and despite some profound coursing problems we had with our dinner; it still remains one of my favorite restaurants in the US. The sign of a really well-run establishment? They acknowledge a problem directly, make amends without being asked to do so, and sincerely apologize. Luckily for us we weren't under a time crunch, and were able to have a longer more leisurely meal than anticipated. Food was spectacular. Even if you just ordered a starter of sunchoke truffle chips and a burger you'd be a happy camper. The pork belly special and a venison entree were standouts. Whoever in the kitchen is working the oven/grill deserves a smooch. The comfort desserts of a blackberry tart and a cookie dough semifreddo, provided just the right finish to a glorious meal.

Wonderful!

Simply wonderful! Their waygu steak tartare is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. Beautifully balanced cocktails and a great wine list. I love the seasonal menu changes. Worth every single penny and then some.

Great tasting menu. We chose the six course. One great bite after another. Huge portions for a tasting menu and all seasoned just right. We have been to many fine restaurants throughout the world. This is right up there. Great wine pairings to go with the meal. Servers are talkative and knowledgeable about the wines and dishes. This was our restaurant highlight of our trip. Go, indulge and enjoy!

Emphasis on bio-ecology. No A/C but a breeze kept us comfortable. Very friendly staff and a varied, interesting menu. Good wine list. We enjoyed the imaginative food and the well timed service, not too fast. A good place for people who like their food and one can also take plates to share so if your a group then one can really try out a lot of the dishes.

Nice place.

So this is a really nice restaurant and seemed great. Service was good and they have free wi-fi. The menu looked great but personally I didn't like the food. The appetizer was too salty and the main was too sweet. My partner who had the Guinea Fowl thought it was great though.

Superb Food in the Heart of Capitol Hill

By dunadan |

My wife and I attended a holiday party for her company at Lark, and came away impressed by everything about it: the waitstaff, drinks, and food. We were among the first to arrive, and after perusing the drink list for the evening, we settled on the whiskey-base cocktail for me (I forget the name), and the martini equivalent for her. We each ordered seconds, as they were amazing blends of flavors. The appetizer selection was varied, and I ate far too much of the bread and dips than I should have--a risk by showing up so early. By the time we were seated for our main course, I was already half-full. But that didn't stop me from ordering, and devouring, the short ribs--wow!. The dessert options that followed were equally mouth-watering. I had samples of the bread pudding and a chocolate tart that were both wonderful. We don't get to Capitol Hill often, but when we do, we'll definitely keep Lark in mind for a great spot for either a drink, light bite to eat, or a full meal.
