Good tacos

By Monica R |

I ordered tacos and the green chile stew it was tasty. The flour tortillas were home made and fresh. The service was slow and not very good. We had to order several things several times . The salsa toreada is very good but you don't always get chips to eat it with. Not sure why that is.

Location not real convenient

By L H |

We had not been here in a very long time and only once back when. But were in the area and stopped in for lunch during the week. The locals I'm sure know the best way to get to it but in this area where the expressway splits you need to know where to get off and go along the access before Evers Rd. Parking was available right in front but there was no hostess in the front when we arrived and front counter was cluttered with stuff and not very inviting. A waitress came and seated us in a booth but there is also table seating. They only give complimentary chips after 11 am and it is a smaller portion than other locations we generally go to. Also, they charge for To Go cups where others locations do not AND they were out of large cups. We ordered the Rollback Special that they offer if you belong to rewards. This day it was Chicken Fajitas with rice, beans, and guacamole for $4.99 which is a good price. It only came with two tortillas though for two people so we each got one fajita and had to eat the rest of the meat out of tortilla. The waitress didn't come back to check on us either. The place wasn't real busy but got more so closer to noon. The food is generally always good Tex-Mex at all locations but service can vary and again this is the first one we have been to, and we have been going for years, that charge for cups and skimp on the chips and tortillas. But still the special is a good price.

Just the right touch

Good morning! It was time to fuel up and head out. Las Palapas hit the spot perfectly. The service was good and the food was just right, not to greasy and not to healthy. Another good day was in the making. Thank you Las Palapas.

The BEST Las Palapas in town!!!

By Shawn S |

I've been going to this Las Palapas for 16 years. Compared to other Mexican restaraunts and other Las Palapas restaraunts, this is BY FAR the BEST Mexican restaraunt in San Antonio! Great family friendly wait staff and managers/owner, great prices, and authentic Mexican food. Give it a try, you won't be sorry. LP: Evers/410

great breakfast tacos and coffee,

By martin c |

We revisited this place over the weekend and we were really impressed at the selection of the breakfast tacos on the menu. I had a taco with "ranchero "style country sausage with beans and it was spot on . It as just spicy enough to be left alone without any salsa added to it . I also had another taco with potatoes, chorizo and monterrrey jack cheese ( I forget what it was called ) and that taco was also a hit. Their tortillas had a just made freshness to them ...you can tell when a restaurant just re-heats them and sends them out . Their coffee was brewed just right and the servers were quick to follow up with refils . I say "servers" because different servers would ask if they were passing by as if to tag team all of the tables for service . My wife had the Huevos rancheros and they were also very well prepared . This will be part of my breakfast rotation from now on .... I'll be back >

Mediocre!

By Rubén Z |

On a Saturday evening went to this Las Palapas site near Evers Road. The front area staff were having a good time and talking to one another. I waited for several minutes and then proceeded to seat myself. The front lady in charge came after me to note that I should wait to be seated. I inquired about how long the wait is as they were busy! She backed off but that set the tenor for the whole meal. My service was tepid and the meal not memorable at all. There was a smell not too strong but pungent and lasting thruout the meal. I could choose to eat elsewhere and I will!

Menudo Tour Pt 5

By WinthropJQuiggy |

I went here for breakfast based on the recommendation of the concierge at the hotel where I stayed. Got an excellent bowl of menudo. I got a small bowl and as hungry as I was I'm glad I didn't opt for the large bowl. I was barely able to finish it. It was very tasty. And I had an excellent waitress who made sure everything was OK.

Chili Con Carne Cheese Enchiladas - Yum!

By MG L |

When in San Antonio we like to eat here. We never have to wait and the booths are comfortable. I really like the chili con carne cheese enchiladas here. I'm telling you they do it right. They even use tender red tortillas and I noticed and appreciated the extra effort of the chef to turn out the best enchilada possible - truly an art form. Their rice is consistently perfect (light and tender) and the refried beans are very good. We also tried the sopapillas for desert with honey - very good with coffee. We like it here, it's a nice view and the staff want to please you and they are very polite. Many people come here and you will see that, although this is not a fast food restaurant, they still provide a drive-thru lane and it is also steadily busy as well. So check out those chili con carne cheese enchiladas, prepared with great pride. One other tip, if you are looking for a "puffy taco" they have them here.

Great food and service!

By AidaTexas |

I took my mom there for her belated Mother's Day present. We went to the new restaurant on Babcock Road. The place is very clean and there was a lot of wait staff. You cannot beat 2 chicken and enchiladas, rice and charro beans for the very low price of $4.99!!! Wow!!! The food is very good. Our waitress was very attentive. We will return!

Good,local Tex-Mex

By Steven O. Sellers |

We dined at the Las Palapas in Northwest San Antonio on Tezel Road, but have also dined at the NW Loop 410 location. Las Palapas came to San Antonio in 1981 under the direction of Ron Acosta, and is a local favorite. Local dishes, served up in an appealing manner. You can't go wrong at breakfast, and the chicken soup and enchiladas are also very good. There are several locations all over San Antonio. Service is prompt and friendly. An all around good Tex-Mex restaurant.

"Lunch For Our Mom"

By a p |

Our mom recently returned from the hospital, and we needed to pick up some good food to go for lunch. I called several places and just didn't seem to get a good feel. I then called Las Palapas; Maricruz had a pleasant, warm and caring demeanor. She made some suggestions and we decide to receive her assistance. From the time I entered the restaurant to place our order, and as I was walking out, I was treated with care. I have to say that Maricruz was instrumental in service, expedience and most importantly a caring heart! This world is short of people like Maricruz, Thank You Again!!!

Inexpensive And Delecious

By AlexisMaurice |

Maaaaaaan!!! Great little Mexican spot in San Antonio. The food was AMAZING!!! Even down to the chips and salsa. We had queso as well. iKept it simple with the chicken tacos, but they were excellent. Ans guess what?! It's super inexpensive. Great place to go if dining on a budget. The waitress was phenomenal as well.

Gut Bomb

By JimBobJumpBack |

Poor quality Mexican food that get stuck in your gut. I belched the entire afternoon after eating lunch at the I-10 location near Leon Springs. It's inexpensive and it taste that way. It doesn't taste better with each belch. This is my fourth or fifthe visit and my last.

Great Breakfast Tacos

By lawprof3 |

This spot is on my list of breakfast places every time I visit San Antonio. They have the greatest coffee and their breakfast tacos are just perfect for my light first meal of the day. I recommend this restaurant.

GREAT value

By hairballusa |

The breakfast tacos are damn fine, and super quick. One of the most expensive is the Machacado, at just over $2 each. They are quite tasty, filling and come with your choice of hot sauces. Go with the roasted, brown sauce, which is not very spicy, though quite savory. The sweet ice tea tastes just as a Texan expects it to taste! The service was attentive, friendly, and quick. :)

Good food

They have a variety of Mexican food, the service is fast, and the food is delicious and budget friendly!

Caldo, just what mom ordered!

By Dave E |

When I think of caldo, this place came to my mind. I was a bit under the weather, and I remember mom making her great caldo or chicken soup to heal the body. Their caldo was perfect, served with plenty of chicken and served hot. The corn tortillas were made fresh and tasted great. My server was friendly and courteous; at my beckon call. Try their breakfast tacos or huevos rancheros; you will love them.

Good experience / Good food

By johnbB7061OU |

A Monday early lunch visit. No wait. Tried the chicken stuffed avocado, which was wonderful. They covered one half avocado with grilled diced zucchini, onions, tomatoes and chicken. At my request, the also diced up some jalapeño pepper, which gave it a little kick. It was really wonderful for a light lunch. Also, enjoyed the cheese dip and fresh hot chips. No one was a fan of the salsa, unfortunately. Will definitely be back on or next visit to the area.

Smells inside

Mediocre Mexican Food

By Midnight Rambler |

Food was not hot, only room temperature. Chips were fresh and salsa good but not spicy enough. This is only Mexican restaurant I know of that charges you for additional flour tortillas.

Great Mexican Food

If you are in the mood for some great tasting affordable food, visit Las Palapas. They also support military, police, and firefighters by offering a very generous 25% discount to active personnel.

Still a solid Mexican joint!

By Capt_Wyatt |

I appreciate coming here for the flautas. Tasty and fast food. Service is fine. This is not particularly great food but it much better than some. I am not always in search of the best, sometimes preferring a casual environment with good food. You get that here.

Exceptional Service and Food

By YO_LOOK_AT_ME |

Had a fantastic experience with Maribel as our server. We were seated fairly quickly and our server was very responsive and got our order in quickly. The food was delivered fresh, hot and flavorful. She was very responsive with ensuring our coffee and water was always filled...will definitely visit again,

Wish we had a Las Palapas in DFW!

Amazing food at a really great price! I can't wait to visit SA again just so I can eat here! The chilaquiles were the best!

Excellent Tex-Mex food

By vbintx |

The food at Las Palapas is always good, hot and quick. The tacos and enchiladas are great, as well as the tortillas (good Tex-Mex means good torillas). The waitstaff is always helpful and attentive. Las Palapas is family-owned, family-friendly and patriotic and they care enough about their employees and customers to close on Sundays for worship and time with family.

Bright Decor, good food

By Kevin P |

I felt like I entered a slice of Mexico entering this restaurant. The paint was bright red and orange on the walls. The decorations obviously came from Mexico. Colorful, festive! The iced tea was fantastic. I loved the puffy tacos. My wife had the quesa dias, which she said were average.

Excellent food!

By Alejandro B |

Went here with my family of four. Enjoyed the food and drinks. The prices are about average for the area so the bill was not a shocker.
