Great food and horrible service

By TravelBoomerang |

The Lazy Dog was one of the only places open when our flight landed so we checked in to our hotel and stopped for a quick bite. The food was really good! I was really impressed by the menu choices and how good the food tasted. The service was appalling. Our server seemed to have forgotten about us and others. We did not go back to give the place a second chance. Our service experience may have been a one off.

Live this place. The service is great. The food is always good. It is decorated really cute. Super Place!!

Such a pleasant surprise

By Lucky Travel Junkie |

Some local friends and I were having dinner at a nearby place, which sadly closed, so we decided to give this restaurant a chance. We loved it! The decor is fabulous, the menu is so pretty and everything sounds delicious, the staff so friendly and helpful, and then we got the food ... everything was truly delightful, and we even made it to a shared dessert, which we loved as well. I would most definitely go back.

Amazing First Impression

By wlparks |

Wow, this place was awesome. The food was spectacular and the peach sangria was so yummy. We started with chicken tomatillo nachos. I am very picky about my nachos (its a staple where I live), but these were so good, I could have eaten the whole plater. I also got the chicken salad sandwich, so tasty. The rest of the table had a pork sandwich, fish tacos, and fried chicken dinner, all just as good. Our waitress Heidi was very friendly and attentive. The friendly and nice manager Laquita (?) even came over and asked how things were. I can't wait to go back to San Diego just to eat here!

love the atmosphere!

Lazy Dog Restaurant is one of my very favorite spots in San Diego! The location is fantastic, servers are fun, they have a great menu and wide selection of drinks. I highly recommend the flat iron steak. This place is fun for special events or just a simple happy hour.

A great experience

By emgemdodge |

My husband and I ate at Lazy Dog for lunch in December 2024. We were immediately shown to our seats and greeted by an extremely friendly and chatty server, who recommended several items on the menu for starters. We ordered drinks and a small plate of deep-fried deviled eggs. Everything came very quickly and was DELICIOUS. We hastily ordered our lunches, and again, they came quickly and were absolutely delectable. The only thing my husband didn't like was one of the cocktails, and it was removed from the bill. We were very impressed by the friendly and professional customer service--we'd come again for that alone. The food was amazing, the service was exceptional, and the whole vibe of the restaurant was fantastic. 5/5 stars, will definitely come again soon.

New favorite spot!

Great menu, lots of choices, great variety of beers on tap, great wine list Will definitely be back!

Good Beer and Food

By Robert D |

The Lazy Dog is a great place to relax, chill and have a good beer and casual food. The breadth of micro-brews is solid—and I enjoyed the “Lazy Dog IPA” which was very good—not very hoppy so for those that like that, good choice...for those who want more hops, try something else. I had their chefs salad and it was very good. Great atmosphere as it is very casual. They allow dogs, so be fore warned...

Love it!

By Ahkilah A |

I love this place! I first came here for lunch on New Years eve of 2015. They have a really great vibe and great food. I love their small plates and their pitchers of Sangria. They're a little watered down but, they go a long way and they're really good. They have a patio where you can bring your dog and they have a little doggie menu. I usually visit during brunch on the weekends. I almost always get the carnitas and tater to hash. It's AMAZING!!!! So many different flavors!!!! It's my favorite. I've also come for lunch ND just had their small plates. The brussel sprouts, green mac and cheese, turkey meatballs and mashed potato hush puppies are all stupendous. We visit this place regularly and will continue to do so!!!

Good Food and Ambience

By DAVID W |

Love the way this place is decorated. Tree trunks are suspended from the ceiling and line the walls. Plenty of dog pictures. It was busy and crowded but we got in quickly. Service was good and food arrived quickly. Food was above average. Prices were reasonable. I plan to go back when in San Diego.

Misrepresented Menu Item

By Jay A |

They have pizza that claims it is a margarita pizza with a salad on top. I asked that the lettuce be put on the side so I could enjoy the pizza separately. That was done as requested except the pizza was not a margarita one but just a cheese pizza. What? I mentioned it to the waitress and she offered to replace it but I declined. That was not the point. Management had misrepresented the menu item. What else on their menu is in error. PS I ate the entire pizza and salad so it was good enough to consume.

Great Venue

By m4slcsam |

Acoustically very loud and dark in this huge venue. Food was lovely. We had a BBQ burger that should have been a blackened burger but was delicious all the same. The teriyaki chicken bowl was also delicious. Good menu selection of food and drinks. Not so good for small kids/babies due to the volume but great for all otherwise. Definitely recommended.

Nice Patio

By Trave2leverywhere |

We were seated in the outside patio area which was pleasant because they had the heaters going to stave off the chill of the night. When we were seated, the hostess gave us the happy hour menu so when the server came to our table we ordered a couple of beers off the menu only to discover later that Happy Hour wouldn't start until 10 minutes later so they tried to charge us full price for the beers. It took us talking to several people before it got resolved. Our server also told us after bringing our drinks that she was leaving and handing us over to another server. That was okay and he was very animated but he also disappeared after the food was brought to the table and we had to ask another server to get some ketchup. By that time, the food was cold. On a positive note, we ordered a burger and a the Tex Mex salad. The burger was cooked perfectly. The salad was fresh and flavorful.

Service blows

By Greg S |

Because of the dog-friendly patio we make stop by from time to time. However, the past couple of times service seems to be on the decline. On Wednesday (8/9/17) we stopped by. My wife and I shared a club sandwich with fries. The waitress who delivered the food set the plates down in such a way that the fries got coated with sauce intended for the sandwich. No ketchup or mustard on the table nor did she ask if we needed anything else. We waited for about 5 minutes or so and decided to go inside to the bar to get ketchup rather let our food get any colder. The sandwich was okay, nothing to get excited about. Sad part is, a couple of guys at the table next to us, who had a couple of beagles, were having a similar experience and I think we had the same waitress. That sucks. I’m sure when the waitress (Lauren) saw the tip, I bet she said the same thing. Oh well, I believe in pay for performance so the tip is proportional to the service – what a novel idea.

Great lunch with friends

By CAMusicMom |

This place has something for everyone. The menu has so many choices. You can definitely find whatever you're in the mood for! The tomato soup is the best I've had. Service is always excellent too.

Great food, service and location...the prices aren't bad either

By .Diniss1 |

I love the food here. It's consistently great, plus it's got a,good vibe. The service is wonderful as well. Happy Hour is 3 to 6 weekdays, and 9 to close on weekends, so worth it!! Best sweet potatoe tots on 🌍🌎🌏

Fun time on a Friday night

By Mundoreiser |

We arrived at Lazy Dog just before 7 p.m. so we expected to wait lfar onger than the 20 minutes we were told. To our surprise we were seated within 10 minutes. Our server, Heidi, was wonderful and the staff we encountered were all very efficient. We tried the Bacon Candy, the grilled artichokes, grilled halibut with brussel sprouts, tomatoes and peppers and a side salad. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Considering how crowded the restaurant was, we were impressed by how quickly our food arrived. We would definitely recommend this place.

Happy Hour

By Susie1028 |

I love Lazy Dog for happy hour. They have two of those, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM and 9:00PM-12:00AM $3 - $8 drink specials and $3 - $9 food specials at the bar and patio only. I love the sangria and nachos.

Amazing salad!

By Sid k |

I have been to a Lazy Dog I quite some time so I came in tonight. I really didn't want an entree or burger so I opted for their Cobb salad. I must admit that for me the test of how well made a salad is that I have to use hardly any dressing-this one passed with flying colors! It had the perfect amount of ingredients and the tastes & textures were balanced! Simply amazing!

Great food and very good customer service

By Gonnahavefun4eva |

We had sticky rib and unami fries dinner, lemon chicken pasta and broccoli side. No wait in the bar. Also great sangria.

Our go-to chain

By PostBop |

Yes, it's "just a chain," but we like where its menu is coming from (healthy but also savory and often unusual dishes), appreciate the consistency of its chefs regardless of location, and also its relaxing ambiance. And save room for the butter cake ala mode.

Great food and great service

By SolangeM |

Looking for a place to hit up after a long day and evening? Hit up lazy dog! They have great happy hour deals for drinks and food. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Food came in a reasonable time and was hot and tasty. We would definitely go back again and recommend it to anyone looking to eat around the San Diego area.

Great Dinner with my family and son's dog

By Mohsman |

I like to come here every year, when I attend a meeting at a near by hotel. They have a wide variety of excellent appetizers, salads and entrees. Service was very friendly, prompt, and accurate, and I love the fact that they allow dogs on the patio. You can even order food for your dog from the doggy menu, and they always bring a water bowl for you pooch. Tip: My wife and I absolutely love their butter cake and order it every time.

Of all the food choices in San Diego, this place offers nothing to write home about

By 484MeganG |

Meh. First off, we saw a blog that said this was a great family place for kids. I looked at their website and up popped family-style meals and $10 comfort-food TV dinners and I thought, Yes! This is just what we need tonight. We loaded up and drove there only to find out after we were seated that the family style meals and TV dinners are carry out only. Total disappointment. We ordered off the menu. Our food was mediocre at best. The Alfredo was- weird. My daughter and I shared. She couldn't even eat hers. It just wasn't good. Honestly, it tasted like it was plant-based cheese or something. Had we known that TV dinners were take out only, we would've ordered out and cooked them at our hotel. I'm not sure that they would've rocked our socks, but I think our experience would've been better than dining in. Of all of your San Diego dining choices, this wouldn't be on my list, unfortunately.

Doggy Date

By DocArias |

So great for dog lovers. Dog friendly patio can't be beat. Appetizers were delish and the food was very good. No complaints here.

Huge Portions-- Lots of Comfort Food Options

By Jef I |

I ordered the carmelized brussel sprouts app as a side dish to the pork schnitzel. HUGE portions. I also ordered a side salad but note to self that it was too much to eat. Yummy food.... pot roast and chicken pot pie made me curious for next time.

Everything Great

By MiamiTravelers_7 |

Upon lunch recommendation of our hotel we decided to try the Lazy Dog. Sure glad we did. Great ambiance fun atmosphere and huge selection of their menu. Husband had the chicken pot pie and it was enormous and super good and fresh mine was equally good. They even brought homemade garlic potato chip complimentary for our first time visiting. Service was outstanding we never waited for anything, turned out to be a excellent recommendation .

Dogs! Dogs!

By meaveg |

I love dogs so finding this restaurant was a real treat. I loved all the pictures and decor in this place. The menu is quite diverse and I couldn't decide what I wanted. The waiter was knowledgeable about IPA beers which made my brother happy. Ended up buying a hoodie. :)

First time, wasn't disappointed

By nickstastic |

First time at a lazy dog restaurant. My food and service was good and the atmosphere was good. I would dine there again.

Delicious

By Carnon |

Visited twice on recent business trip. Dinner and lunch. Food delicious, awesome selections. Waiter during dinner a bit overworked(?), manager seemed to pick up the slack. Delicious experience. Seriously.

Slow and wrong take out order

By Clifford Y |

We ordered frozen, take out dinners from them over the phone. We paid using a credit card over the phone. They quoted 30 minutes for it to be ready! We got there 5 minutes early, called them to say we're here, and sat in the pickup parking spot. After it was 5 minutes after the time and seeing no other pickups being delivered, I went inside to see what's up. They said oh, the kitchen is very busy. It's frozen dinners! Just get it from the freezer and give it to us! I went back to the car and waited some more. Then a guy brings the food. We drive home and the order is wrong! WOW!

Nice food, family and foreigner friendly place. Service was good too.

By Oscar G |

It's a family friendly place, they have very good food and service. I'm a foreigner and it was perfect for me for the variaity of food options.

Terrific Steaks and Service

By pzieggy |

We were in San Diego for our 45th wedding anniversary and wanted a special place to celebrate. We chose this place after checking out several others in the Mission Valley area. My husband asked for a nice table and let them know we were looking for good food and good service. We were given a nice booth and had the best steaks. I had the flat iron and my hubby had the ribeye. Both were cooked to perfection. They serve waffle fry au gratin potatoes, which might sound a bit weird, but they were delicious. They serve a great peach sangria. Dinner was topped off with complimentary ice cream to celebrate our anniversary. We recommend this place and would return should we ever visit San Diego again. Note: They do offer pet friendly outside seating for those that want it.

A bar trying to be a restaurant at best….

By Billie R |

We went with a large group (8 people). Had us sitting right at the door. All the tables I saw were high too. The longer table we got had some decorative metal bar down the middle which served no purpose except to shorten the already short width and spill drinks. Service sucked at best. Slow and inattentive. We were there for 2 hours and I never got a refill on my tea. Had to grab or yell for waiter for napkins and refills on water and alcohol. Food portions were small and not to order. Wife and I ordered salads. Easy right? Apparently not. There was supposed to be eggs and other things on our salad and only saw chicken and lettuce. Asked for extra dressing and got enough to barely taste. Friend ordered tai chicken salad and it was more like cucumber salad with no chicken. SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere else.

Great choice for a casual

By tonetta40 |

Great choice for a casual meal as long as you don’t mind a little noise. The food was very good and service was fast! Highly recommend the buffalo cauliflower appetizer, so yummy!! Burgers were all done perfectly! Nice kids meals, portions just right. Ordered nachos and the platter was huge!! Prices are moderate. Would definitely go back the next time we are in town!

Great experience!

By Blanca J |

Service was great. They brought us a human and dog menu. Dog was happy and so were we! Drinks and food were served quickly. Food was great!

Good, substantial, filling food!

By maringfro |

I went there for lunch and ordered the turkey burger on whole grain bread. Very tasty! It comes with cole slaw or fruit. I chose the cole slaw. They have two different kinds and I had the one with a blue cheese sauce that was very nice.

Very good food and reasonable price

By Boyd W |

First time here and we were very satisfied, burgers were cooked the way we like, beer selection was terry good. Service was great.

Chill brunch spot

By erint |

I came here with my kids for breakfast and loved sitting on the patio. Not only was the food delicious, it was a little more unique than the normal American breakfast options, there were dogs everywhere, and there was good music playing.

Poor Service - Food Meh - Not enough Dog Decor

By Movie2max |

I understand mistakes, but the compilation of errors and other things are what drove me to a poor review. First, took a long time to greet us and take the drink order. Second, twice the beer server tried to serve us the wrong beers...On to food. Ordered the portabello sandwhich - what a mess. The mushroom couldn't have been any thinner and occupied about 1/2 the sandwich; the bread had some spread on it that made it messy to the point of falling a part. Also - was hoping for a little more dog cuteness decor as I was traveling on business and was missing my pup.

One of my new favorite restaurants in San Diego

By pbhomey |

Unless I'm traveling, I usually eat out close to home, Pacific Beach. But lately, I've been venturing out and trying new places. I'm glad I tried Lazy Dog!

Very Nice Place to Have a Cold Beer

By mdsarch |

The Lazy Dog Restaurant was a great place to end the day while sitting at the bar and having a beer. Lots of TV to watch sports on and the wait staff were great.

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

By Wanda W |

My daughter and I stopped in for dinner on a week night while I was visiting the area. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was excellent. We couldn't have asked for a more personable and attentive server. We both ordered the fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, spinach, and carrots. The menu listed "chicken thigh" and I was expecting one small thigh, but I received two and they were massive. Fried to perfection and delicious!

Very very good!

By ooo |

Wasn't sure what kinda food this restaurant had but it was really good. A must try if in the area. Will definitely be returning when back in San Diego. Food and service was very good!

Great place but noisy

By brianarkell |

Good food. Good beer. The waitress we had (Daisy) was super nice. Really good experience all in all. The only bad thing was it's really noisy.

My Bacon Candy 😩

By micaelajara |

Oh Lazy Dog, I was so disappointed. My all time favorite bacon candy was not up to par. It was cold and lacking the yummy sweet and hot, sticky finger experience. The fries were cold. But, the fish and the club sandwich were good. The waiter was super friendly and attentive. My experience at the Ventura and Folsom (??) location were much more positive.

Great Food, Atmosphere and Service

By williamgA1848HK |

I went to this restaurant when it first opened and have been eating at the Lazy Dog chain of restaurants ever since. I am a Food and Beverage Professional and find the atmosphere, food consistency and service exceptional every time I visit where ever I visit especially this San Diego location. My particular favorite server who is now a bartender is Steven. Always friendly and efficient, knowledgeable about the food as well as always remembers me. Try the Campfire Pot Roast my personal favorite but the Cobb Salad which is also super. Especially fond of the desserts too. Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream is to die for. Great consistent food and service will keep me coming back time after time...this restaurant chain provides that everytime...ask for Steven in Dan Diego 👍

Great place

By deltaonea |

Was traveling with family of 12 people and they accommodated us with only a 10 minute wait. Wonderful staff. Food was great. Not one unhappy person. Kids meals were a big hit. Several had the burger and it was delicious. We returned for Brunch on Sunday and the food was awesome. Looks to be a newer place. Neat and clean and lots of friendly staff.

Nice Place, Good Service, Good Food

By David R |

The Lazy Dog is well laid out, the waiters provided fast and attentive service, and the food itself, when received, was very tasty. However, it's really not a "fine dining" establishment, but they don't seem to know that by the prices charged.

Good for dinner

By Diego P |

Good service, fast service, everything ok!!! Great taste and good prices. Tuna was very tasty, fishe tacos very good option and tortilla soup very delicious. Totally good!

Busy, loud, good food, pleasant server

By KAMartin911 |

I went here for lunch with my brothers and we had a great time. Lots of activity - its a busy place. We all ordered sandwiches, club, chicken salad, and roast beef. Very large portions and very good. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Fantastic family restaurant experience for all ages.

By Gav T |

This is a family centric restaurant with all ages catered for and the staff conduct themselves accordingly when talking to kids especially. The table service was fantastic with so many food options available. Service was insanely quick for both drinks and food delivery with very reasonable prices. Definitely a family worthy restaurant experience was enjoyed by all members.

Hosts with bad attitude

By Danigeil |

The hosts are inefficient and slow with bad attitude. It’s a pity a couple of friends could not join us (a party of 4) for dinner even though there were a couple of bigger tables available and remained empty until we left. Food was acceptable but not wow and restrooms dirty and out of paper.

Great Service

By myli3n |

Amazing service, and the food is filling and seasoned well.. The atmosphere is great for feeling the vibe with who ever you come with and very unique. Menu is extensive in a good way, and has something for everyone to enjoy!

always a good option

By DBAWS |

We love this place.....it's a must-stop each time we visit San Diego. This time we tried the roasted Brussel sprouts, goat cheese + pepper jelly and the pot pie... all great!

Vary Good Place to Eat

By Dave B |

Though we are local to the area - my wife and I went here to eat as this place is fairly new to the area. Always wanted to try it so we did on a Saturday afternoon. The wait time was about 30 to 40 minutes long but we were offered a seat in the bar area where tables are as well with red seats. It is open seating in this area - identifed by the red seats. Most seats were occupied except one table that was not clean off - so we stood by it. Was asked if we would like to sit there and we said yes - and right away GREAT Customer Service started to happen. They buzzed around and cleaned it all up - brought out menus and clean forks and knives, etc - they were on it. Food was very good - and plenty of it. Menu has a large selection of a lot of different things from American to Asian - pork - hamburgers , pizza - to health food - Prices are not cheap but not expensive either. Like I said - they do not skimp on the portions. Customer Service for us was very good - drinks were always full. Food Hot. And Yes - I saw dogs in the place. I guess you can bring in your pooch. Overall good place to go.

Not kid friendly

By Kenneth727 |

We waited about 20 min while I saw open tables on a trip to the rest room. Then we waited for our drink order and then after ordering drinks we waited another 5-10 min for drinks . Then wait again for a chance to order food. We got here at 11:15 and still waiting on food

Average Food // great service

By Kylie C |

I got the crispy wings to go and they were way less than crispy, almost undercooked. My boyfriend thought the regular burger was really good & the fries were pretty tasty! We were driving back to our hotel and just got takeout but the experience was faster and more pleasant than most times you order to go! I’d try them if I’m back in the area!

Good food, service a little slow

By Ann D |

This is a fun, causal restaurant. The food was very good, but the wait service was pretty slow. We waited about fifteen minutes to place our food order, once our entire party of four was seated. The subsequent bar orders came much more quickly, only the food was slow. Our table ordered burgers, fish tacos and a spicy Tai salad and all the food was quite good. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable. It is a fun place where dogs are welcomed, which makes it unique. The dogs were friendly and appreciated the pets they got. Parking is scarce, but there is free valet service with validation, which we took advantage of. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

Great food, little issue with service

By Denise D |

I've visited three Lazy Dog restaurants and this was the first one with a slight problem. The Lazy Dog is known for its "dog friendly" service. I arrived and needed to request a reservation, unfortunately I had my dog with me and no one able to go inside and put my reservation in (dogs are not allowed inside, only on the patio). A young women exited with a party to seat on the patio and I asked if she would take my reservation when she returned. She looked at me with an annoyed look and said " I'll be back". After waiting close to 18 minutes I opened the door and asked someone to flag down an employee for me. Another young woman came out to seat another party and when she saw me she said " Let me seat these people and I'll be right with you" the couple she was seating looked at me and said "This lady has been waiting longer than we have!" When the woman returned she handed me the seating flasher and said "It'll be 20 mins or so". I have never encountered this kind of service at any other Lazy Dog, it is unacceptable in my opinion. On the bright side, my server Michael was amazing!! Attentive and helpful, knowledgeable about the menu and the food was incredible! I would have given it 5 stars except for the incident at the beginning.

Cozy. Comfortable. Great options.

By Cecilia S |

I love lazy puppies! To be honest, I was drawn to this restaurant because of the name. Lazy dog, paw prints, beer, I'm sold! On a Saturday night, it was really crowded. We put our names down - table for 4 - and surprisingly, it was only a 20 minute wait. Even better, we found a table by the bar so we sat there instead. The menu is quite extensive. They have everything from burgers to pizza, pasta, sandwiches, salads, small plates, and various other entrees too. We just left Mesa Rim for some rock climbing, so I wanted to stay on the healthier side. I opted for the Portobello burger with a side of spinach. It was alright, only because I don't like balsamic. Other than that, the flavors were great. Loved the sundried tomato hummus in the burger. The spinach was yummy and very garlic-ful. We also got some brussels sprouts that were delicious! Nice space. Parking can be a pain. Cozy atmosphere. Nice beer selection. Friendly service. I'll be back! Happy eating!

Disappointing Food Made Right

By AucklandWiz |

This was our first visit to this branch. We normally eat at the Downey LA branch. We ordered our favourite Chicken Pot Pies to find them really soupy and lacking content. On talking to Graeme he apologised as they had had some issues with this problem and let us pick at them but took them off the bill. Graeme is very professional. The salad was good. Our waitress Hannah was also friendly and welcoming. A pleasant experience.

Love taking my dog here

By J B |

Food here is actually pretty good. Today I ordered a burger with PB and J and a side of seasoned fries and steak salad. It was feeling totally worth it. Even my pup love his meal. Price is decent and they have pup menu for your 4 legged kids.

Puppy fix, dinner and drinks - what else do you need?

By Alice H |

Dinner was fun with all kinds of dogs and puppies. Both our burger and salad were tasty. We will return here for sure.

Great Food and Service

By PSBeachgoer |

The Food and the Service are Fantastic. Great Menu selection for anything that you are in the mood for.

Great place. Great service, good food

By BillyRo_13 |

This place was within walking distance from our hotel so we stopped in. It was busy as it was Saturday night. We were seated right away. Our service was great and the food was great too. Fun atmosphere, big menu, good drinks and cold beer. Candy bacon was a must try, it was alright. What was great was our service. Apparently we waited a while to get drinks so our server got approval to comp our appetizers. Unexpected and appreciated. I’d go back here Again.

Service sucked.

By Wende Masciantoni |

Stopped in for dinner and drinks. Our waitress really ruined our visit here as the food was pretty good she was simple inattentive. A supervisor once helped clear plates and glasses that were pulling up on our table add she had walked by them repeatedly. The next time she stopped she said 'is there anything else I can clear?'. With an attitude. I personally wouldn't go back even though the food was decent.

Service and food has always been good

By Nick F |

There's a nice relaxed atmosphere to the place. Its our go-to for a working lunch. The food is consistently good. The portions are generous and there are several vegetarian options. The veggie burger, fish and chips, and the tofu stir-fry are all good. The service was great. The wait staff are attentive and courteous and our food always arrives with only a short wait. Good place and reasonably priced too.

Great food, great service and yes, it's dog friendly

By Colleen P |

Had dinner tonight with my husband and mother-in-law and as usual, our service was great. Twee was a very helpful and attentive server and we'll be asking for her again. We started off with the Ceviche + Chips. I am not usually a ceviche lover but this was excellent. It had maui maui, shrimp, sweet peppers, red onions, jalapeños and cilantro all marinated in lemon and lime juices. There was smashed avocado at the bottom that really made it different. It came with house made tortilla chips. The only complaint is we all wished the jar holding it was bigger so we could eat more! For our dinner, my mother-in-law and I had the BBQ bison meatloaf (wrapped with bacon) with red skin potato mash and sautéed spinach, topped with crispy haystack onions. The meatloaf was moist and had a good flavor with a hint of bbq sauce in the loaf. Their mashed potatoes are always good and tonight was no exception. My husband had the cast iron Idaho trout. It was presented on a cast iron plate and had grilled asparagus, red peppers and sea salt roasted potatoes. The piece of fish I tried was moist and had a wonderful flavor. All in all a good meal. We didn't bring our dog this time but maybe we will the next.

Excellent!

By Craig T |

Initial plan was to dine at either Red House or Circa in University Heights area...but parking was ridiculous and after driving around in circles, saw Lazy Dog on Yelp, so headed that way...and boy am I glad I did! First, no parking problems. Second, great atmosphere. Walked right in and sat near the bar. Third, and most important, service and food was great! Being from Hawaii, I of course tried the Poke Jar. This is like a cool version of poke nachos, blending flavors of the poke, avocado and namasu...as we'd say, "ONO!" Main dish was the Wok-Fired Chicken with Teriyaki sauce and veggies....another hit! I am tempted to return one more time before heading home to Maui.

Great find for a solo business traveler

By Jenn |

I was staying at a local hotel and didn't have a car so I was limited in my options. Very happy I found this place! Great outdoor space but lots of dogs (which I love but it was a lot) so I opted for inside at the bar. Friendly bartender, good menu. I order the mango chili margarita and pork noodle bowl. Both delicious! If you're in the area I highly recommend this place but probably not worth special trip unless you're looking for an outdoor space for brunch with your dog or somewhere to eat before mall shopping.

Excellent dining experience

By David |

From the time we arrived right through to our departure, the staff we encountered were a great asset to this restaurant. They made us feel valued and went out of there way to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. The food and drink we received was exemplary and reasonably priced. Lazy Dog comes highly recommended.

Love the Kung Pao Chicken!

By Lisa K |

The Kung Pao chicken is so delicious! Better than most Chinese places. Highly recommend the pomegranate sangria as well!

Great blend

By Chris B |

The menu was very different. It didn't seem to have a theme but everything we ate was fantastic. Serve was fantastic and friendly. Sit outside if you can get a spot

Solo dinner

By Todd P |

Walked in and sat at the bar. Service from both bartenders was excellent. Place was crowded lots of folks sitting outside area Ordered the soy salmon over vegetables with brown rice. Did get white rice with the meal. But it was cooked just right. Salmon was hot but a really good medium rare Lots of beer choices if into that

Great Lazy Crazy Chillin place!

Great place just to casually go on a date... by yourself or in a large group! Dog friendly on that outside seating pretty good food very easy on the prices. Great Bar sitting and Sports Watching!

Great restaurant and service

By James S |

I had the pot roast french dip sandwich with onion rings(extra $2). I really like french dips but had to try this variation with pot roast and onions plus horseradish sauce. Excellent. This was a very large sandwich. I could only eat half and took half home that I will use for breakfast with over medium eggs. I would ho back. Thos place offers a variety of beers and a beè club but I didn't enquire about the program or try any beer.

Laurie was our waitress and was super nice and efficient. My friend and I will be back again. We also like your choices of craft beer and of course the several television sets you have displayed throughout the bar area

I guess you can bring your dog

By Mary Carollo |

It was fine. Brought 3 college students who ate about half of what they ordered and then had food for the next two days. So yes, portions are large. Nice beer selection and waiter had good suggestions.

Great pizza

By Kathleen S |

Staff very friendly, nice atmosphere Would highly recommend their pizza and wings. Prices very reasonable. Will visit again

Busy but friendly server

By Kimberly85044 |

Was in from out of town and Came here after a work meeting. There were 6 of us. Everyone was able to find something they liked. The restaurant was busy for a Tuesday evening so it took a little longer than I expected but other than that service was great and food was as expected. One of our party was gluten free and they were able to provide a specific menu with gluten free choices. Entries were 18-25ish range but portions were quite large. Didn’t drink but they looked to have a decent bar. Would come here again and try the bar.

Tasty Food

By JR A |

The food here is real tasty! For appetizers we had the Fried Deviled Eggs which was different but good and we had the Brussel sprouts which were amazing. Had a lot of flavor (Parmesan cheese and garlic and chard). For the meal I had the dirty dog which was good as well. Hard to eat so I ate it using knife and fork but was good nonetheless.

Too crowded

By Sandri |

Depending on the day of the week and time this place gets crowded. Parking is challenging and time consuming. Getting a table can be lengthy, call before you arrive to get an idea of the wait time. Inside is noise, the outside patio is better. If your not a dog lover don’t sit outside, customers can have their dogs with them. Dog hair will land on your food and loud barking, you may experience an accident or two. Food is okay, not my favorite to be honest. Customer service was good but lengthy because there was so many people.

1963 CUHS Lunch Bunch

By Roy YB |

Had the fish and chips, it was outstanding. Service was great, though a little slow, but that was because there was about 40 of us. The frosting on the cake was the complementary valet parking.

A gold mine

By wkrupa |

This was a shot in the dark that turned out to be spectacular. Happy hour here is incredible, you ask for the spicy fries and what they bring two people cant finish. I hit the chicken spicy stir fry and again it was a plate of perfection. Their selection of draft beer is top of the line perfect. Service was wonderful, you sit down and if someone sees you they jump to make sure you were served, and it could be four different people within minutes. This place is family friendly and well worth a stop to visit and enjoy a meal.

Burgers

All american. With cheese is the way to go. Served very quickly drinks were spot on Place was a bit sparse on guest but. Food and service was above average

An okay visit

By Romi B |

Came here on the 4th of July and ordered the Mahi Mahi which was one of the healthy options and was fantastic!!! On the other hand ordered the cheese and basil pizza (notice it says cheese and basil, which is how it's listed on the menu) three of the seven pieces had basil. I would suggest that when ordering this item you state that you would like basil on each piece as that is the name of the pizza. Just a thought. Had it had the basil on all pieces the rating would have been higher!

Great Dinner!

We got in without a reservation as we were early/ahead of the crowd. Great dinner. Good service. Lots of free parking.

A good lunch in San Diego

By Mia H |

Lunch Took a late lunch at the Lazy Dog restaurant and bar. Very nice place. Which I really recommend. Nice staff and a very fresh and nice place. Which had both outdoor dining and indoor dining. Good food and pleasant with simple white cotton napkins.

Dogs & dining...YES, please!

By Stephanie H |

Being from the Boston area, we LOVED not only getting to dine outside in April, but also having the opportunity to enjoy having dogs all around us on the patio. Cool concept for a restaurant, tons of menu options, tasty food & great prices. We loved it so much here, we actually dined there 4 times during our visit (dine-in & take-out). Highly recommend!

I Love This Place!

By GreenEyedGirlVA |

I make sure I always take my out of town guests here when they visit. It is really a great menu, everything I have ever had has been amazing. I love their grilled cheese. It is the best I've ever tried. Save room for desert, because their deserts go beyond!

Friendly Place

By Honest_Montgomery |

A friend and I grabbed lunch here when we were in town for a convention. The menu is a little overwhelming. Trust me, you will find something you like here. The prices were reasonable, the food was good, the service was awesome. The bar tender made a great mojito. My friend wanted me to mention that they have a really good selection of beers on tap.

Great variety menu for whole family....

By Louie C |

Lazy Dog is a hip restaurant with authentic food for the whole family! After shopping at nearby Westfield mall for college stuff. We were pretty hungry! We ordered Cobb Salad, Alfredo Pasta with Grilled Chicken, Pad Thai, and Chinese Chicken Fried Rice. They were prepared with authenticity and portions are generous! Service was great too!

Wish the Service was as good as the Food

By kennedy777 |

I liked this restaurant. It was a big wide open floor plan with nice decor. However, our server was distracted on the rare occasions she came around. It definitely put a damper on our dining experience. The appetizers were fabulous. There was a wide selection of entrees and specialty drinks. With such an abundance of great restaurants in San Diego, with attentive servers, were it not for the brussel sprout and also the macaroni and cheese appetizers, we would not go back.

Super pre-SuperBowl brunch at Lazy Dog!

By gcotant |

Have to write about the fantastic experience we just had at Lazy Dog! My wife and I just had a wonderful brunch at noon today at the Mission Valley location. The greeters were very informative about the seating options and promptly sat us in the bar area where Kyle showed up to ask if there was anything he could bring us. We ordered a couple of their signature cocktails to kick off our Superbowl Sunday, and after looking over a plethora of mouth watering options, my wife decided on the chicken wok dish and I ordered the country quiche. As we chatted for not very long, we thoroughly enjoyed our cocktails (I had the very refreshing New York Sour and my wife had the zesty Mango Chile margarita) and we noticed how cheerful the waiting staff was and the joyous bantering coming from the cooking area. The vibe was very uplifting and our food came out quickly. The tastes of our selections were off the charts! My quiche had a wonderful flakey crust and it was loaded with ham, cheese and fluffy eggs. Their hot sauce, kind of like a siracha flavor, gave the dish a spicey kick that I loved. My wife's chicken wok disappeared before I could get a taste! We got to meet the manager Sean Bakalarski to tell him of the wonderful experience we had and what a great job he has done with the restaurant. Way to go Lazy Dog!

Late dinner

By Nonnieandpops |

Our son, daughter in law and us decided to stop here for dinner. Both of them have been here before and were dropping us off at the airport. After we were seated, our drink orders were taken and then delivered quickly. Our server came over to take our orders and then Told us that fried chicken and rosemary chicken were unavailable and then left before questions could be asked. She went to he table next to us and took their drink orders and then return d with their drinks. She then took their dinner orders and went to the bar to enter her order. She then stopped at a high top next to he bar and was talking to the people sitting there. Finally after our order was taken, she left. Soup and one sandwich were delivered then a few minutes later, the pizza and the other sandwich were delivered. We had to ask the runner for utensils. Our server disappeared for a while longer but did stop by after we were almost finished asking if everything was alright. We asked for a check and she wanted to know if we wanted a desert menu. A few minutes later she reappeared and took our credit card. The food was ok. The service wasn’t. The noise level is high making conversations at the table difficult. If we don’t return here again, that will be fine with me.

Great restaurant

By 111lineman |

I visited here for dinner with my wife and two year old daughter. All of the staff is very friendly from the hostesses to our server to the manager. The hostess asked if it was our first visit, we told her it was. A while later the manager showed up with a free appetizer since it was our first visit! We thought that was very thoughtful. There is a good selection of food and our meals were great. If you are a beer drinker, they have plenty of great ones to choose from. We got a sampler of their six house brews and they were all great.

Enjoyable Early Dinner

By BluePlate-Now |

Quite the eclectic menu! I had the Mediterranean Bowl and it was very good. Great local beer choices. Busy place but got a seat at the bar quickly. Give this place a try!

Great chicken, relaxed outdoor seating

By Debbie M |

Enjoyed a nice meal in an outdoor seating area where well behaved dogs were welcome to dine with their owners (although i did not have a pet with me). Our order of chicken pot pie and fried chicken sandwich were both excellent, even after the chicken sandwich had to be returned due to requested 'no slaw' being on sandwich. Order was quickly redone correctly and tasted delicious. Yummy banana pudding finished off the meal.

Best service

By Christie M |

I have been to Lazy Dog in mission valley twice now where I have had Sheila as my server. She is AMAZING, so personable and attentive. She added so much to the experience there I will always request her as my server. Food is great and atmosphere is nice. Love how dog friendly their patio is.

Awesome!

By Lorane H |

Waitress was great! Suggested using lunch portions, elderflower gin and tonic was terrific! Best food I’ve had in San Diego!

Meh

By Jessica H |

I was not overly thrilled to be spending the amount of money we did for the kind of food we got. The curry chicken bowl was bland, the Cajun fries were way too soggy, and my brownie was hard as a rock. Not recommended

Great place!

By Frank K |

My favorite (as of today) my 1st visit - nice staff great drinks and good! I love the environment - it is like the ranch or the wild west! A great job on the theme....

Great Food

By WorldrunnerStephSand |

Went here for lunch on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised they serve brunch! A party of four eclectic adults and the menu had something for everyone! The prices are reasonable the portions are good and the food was delicious! The picture of Pomegranate Red Sangria was tasty and you get a big pitcher well worth the $15!

Good food and dog friendly

By TarheelMD |

We travel with two pups, so when it is time to meet up with friends, we are looking for dog friendly, good food, and cold beer. The lazy dog delicious feed on all counts... they even have a menu for the dogs! We will be back!

Tasty choices to choose from

By loonalaska |

While in town we went here during happy hour and the choices were wonderful. The chicken nachos were so good. Food was very tasty and we were not disappointed. We came back again for a late dinner and everything was delicious. The service was exceptional and they were on their toes to make sure you were happy! They also have the best dessert selection I have ever seen and tasted. The smores dessert and the lemon cake are fabulous.

Good beer and food. Clean. Good service.

By Cassandra C |

This was my first time here with friends. We got the blueberry IPA and it was delicious and I am not an IPA fan. They had some decent appetizers for happy hour prices. I had the Thai chicken salad and it was pretty good and a large serving. Husband had vegetarian bbq burger, and although he isn't a fan of sweet sauce, he enjoyed it. It gets busy in there and we had to wait for our check. Overall, I would eat here again. The staff was nice and accommodating. The restaurant was clean.

Dissapointing......

By Cappie G |

When we first went to Lazy Dog the burgers were the BEST! The service by the wait staff is always friendly but very slow. On this visit We order their Red Beer (very good by the way), two salads and their Black and Blue Burger. The salads came right away, we had to ask for the beer and the burger came after that. The burger used to be great, this one was so, so. Small patty that did not fit the bun, very little blue cheese, bacon that was raw (the waitress brought us more), a piece of a pickle. AND the French Fries were cold and terrible!! I'll be looking for a new, favorite burger place... After going the first and second time this rating would have been a 4 (slow service, otherwise 5 for food.

YUM

By 2travelersasof2001 |

A friend and I met here for lunch on a weekday and sat out on the patio. Patio is a very nice set up and is dog friendly. There is even a fire pit out there with chairs around it for those cool evenings. Only downside and the reason for only 4 stars is because there was a slight odor of sewer smell while we were there. The menu had lots of choices on it and made it very difficult to choose what to get. Everything we got was very good and I can't wait to go back and try something else.

Great restaurant for the entire family

By Denise |

Amazing food and pet friendly! Indoor/outdoor dining with heaters during the evening. Staff was great-food was delicious with something for everyone. Dinner with the family and lunch a couple days later with a friend. Happy Hour-tasty drinks and appetizers!

Great food and atmosphere!!

By Mona11965 |

Everything on the menu is prepared fresh. We had a large party of 10 and were able to get our food without a long wait time. Anyone with dogs were able to sit outside and have a meal with their dogs.

Disappointed again

By Joel B |

They’re always slow to seat you even though lots of visible seats available. Happy Hour menu selection shrunk and prices increased. Portions seem to have shrunk as well. I’m no longer happy with this place.

President

By Ron B |

The lazy dog has the best Kung Pao that I've ever had! The biggest difference is that its not drowned in sauce its crispy and the flavor is great. We live 25 miles from there but still manage to eat there once a week.

Great Place

By Ali O |

My son and I had a dinner here, we ordered chicken Parmesan and flat line steak both were excellent in terms of presentation and taste then we tried cheese cake for desert and it’s outstanding. The place has a good vibe to it and the lay-out /staff service is good.

Fourth of July dinner with our dog

By shazzzbo |

Came on the off chance we could get a table. Only had to wait 10 mins to get a table on the Patio with our dog. Plenty of choice on the menu, even had a menu for our dog. The server was very pleasant and made sure that our dog Teddy had water. Food was excellent. There were loads of other dogs with their humans there, they all behaved. It wasn’t expensive, which was a surprised. Look forward to returning soon.

Busy but good

By Holly W |

This place is in an easy location that's close to the hotel we stay in. You can phone ahead and put your name on the list which is a great feature since it is busy. It us very family friendly and features a great kids menu. The grown up menu has a huge variety of options. Great service.

Snacks

By Jean-Paul |

Service was great even though we didn't spend a lot of money only ordering a couple of apps and some sodas at a late night visit which is when service really declines in the industry but our sever stayed true to being a very hospitable young lady. The apps were good too. Beautiful restaurant. Great place to grab a bite after a movie.

A surpise

By Tswdfm |

I came here while on a business trip. We were saying in an area that did not offer many dining choices. The Lazy Dog was a long walk and it is located in a shopping center. We were not expecting much. The food was a surprise. The portions are huge, and very well executed. In our party of three, one had a giant salad, one had lentil soup and a sandwich, and I had a chicken club sandwich. We sat outside in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We came back two days later, and again everything was very good.

The food is just meh.

By Abby B |

The vibe here is "fun place." You know, you come here with a bunch of friends and you order some booze and some appetizers together and you have fun and go back, but without ever stopping to think that the food is just not all that good. Cooking is an art, and yes, inventiveness, creativity, these are great things in food and in art. But you know, sometimes you've got to show some restraint, too, so that the taste of the food comes through. By the time you've seasoned corn, grilled it, topped it with lime-garlic butter AND cream AND tajin AND cilantro -- it's just too much, and there's no longer any corn under there. Our server was friendly, but not particularly attentive. The decor tries too hard. There's a lot of variety and so this makes a good choice for a group.

Kids and Dogs roam free

By D F |

I like the atmosphere of this place... bustling and lively. Kids and dogs were free to roam about the patio. The service was average. The food had menu appeal and presented nicely... but on delivery my vegetarian salad had a stray chunk of beef in it. (I'm not a vegetarian, and though I mentioned it to the server, she seemed unconcerned.) In an area full of options, this would not be my first choice.

Good gastropub

By Lawrence C |

A very positive experience. I went with five guys for lunch. We couldn't get a table, so we grabbed one of the community high tops in the front of the restaurant. Our server was very accommodating as she got us samples of various beers for some of us to try before ordering our pints. Food was judged good by all. My chicken salad was flavorful, but had too much dressing. One person's french fries were not hot, and so we flagged down another waiter, who promptly replaced the plate with hot fries. Service was good overall. All in all, we'll return.

Once Again we were not Disappointed

By PSBeachgoer |

The Lazy Dog has not disappointed once again. The Service and the Food are Great and the Atmosphere is so much fun as the Staff interact with you from start to finish. We will defiantly be back.

Great Appetizers and Serving Size

By giselle j |

We came here for drinks, appetizers, and dessert. Service great, food fresh and serving size food. Loved the queso.

Saw place driving by. Looked interesting

By Rod B |

Stopped in for lunch with family while visiting San Diego. My son had the PB and J Burger said was excellent. Grandson had corn dogs and said they were very good. Daughter had 1/2 grilled cheese and salad which she said was delicious large portion. My wife had the lemon chicken with mashed cauliflower again delicious. I had the fish and chips which were very good. We shared carrot cake and huckleberry apple pie. Again excellent. Would highly recommend this place

Breakfast lunch and dinner

By Kev&Ruby |

This was the gem of the restaurants on our last holiday. We had breakfast there, that was fabulous, we had lunch there which was superb and we had dinner there which was amazing. Great food (try the spinach dip starter!) really friendly, it does get busy but so worth the wait. 10 out of 10. (Plus they are dog friendly so already that's a plus)

Fun restaurant, bring your dogs!

By rduinc |

Very fun restaurant with a nice variety of food choices. I ordered the veggie burger and it was very good as was the fruit that came with it as a side. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed all the dogs that were there with their owners.

It's like a doggie date lunch!

By Betz G |

This dog friendly restaurant is so wonderful to you and your dogs. They make sure the dogs are as happy as you are. Great food and service!!!

Disappointing

By Berndog2001 |

15 of us went here for dinner unannounced and the hostess quickly found us a table. It took about 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink orders and when she returned nearly 15 minutes later she was asking who ordered what. When our dinners arrived she had to ask who ordered what again so the service is poor. I got the sweet and spicy shrimp bowl which was bland, had over cooked shrimp and lacked texture. It was not worth finishing or taking with me. The overall atmosphere is dirty and sticky so I will not return.

Good food at a good price!

By Robb |

Walked in here fo dinner. The burgers were excellent and I really enjoyed the fact the prices were decent and wasn’t dropping a ton of money for a couple of burgers. The atmosphere was pretty nice and they have generous seating indoors and out. Recommended.

An off night?

By sd1974 |

We've been here many times and rarely disappointed, but our last visit was not good. Our goat cheese starter was tasty and very good. I kept it simple and ordered the Club Sandwich. It was served well after others at the table. The tin used for serving was ice cold, like it had been just removed from the refrigerator. It was sloppily put together, but the main issue was one piece of bacon on the whole sandwich. One not crispy piece, so it really was a turkey sandwich. I tried a french fry off the plate of one of my companions and it was awful. Limp, soggy and just bad.

My new favorite!

By kjmvacation |

I usually end up disappointed when I try a new place... they never seem to live up to the hype, or they aren't quite what I was expecting, so I usually end up back at the places I know, love, and frequent often. THIS PLACE blew me away. I went one night, and then back the next... Fantastic service BOTH times, huge menu, reasonable prices and great food! Those onion rings- to die for! The Charred onion dip with chips- incredible. The chicken caesar- perfect! The Club- amazing. Everything that I've tried so far has been awesome, and everything that came past my table looked like I wanted it next time. GREAT PLACE!

Great Happy Hour Menu

By Royston S |

The lazy dog was close to where I was staying and I was starving so decided to try something new. It was late afternoon the bar area and patio was pretty busy. After dining I can see why it is a popular place for happy hour. Great happy hour menu with nice sized snacks and real loaded cocktails. Had the lunch chicken parmesan. I cannot imagine how big the dinner portion as this was almost to large to finish. Service was friendly and efficient. Definitely would go again if in the area.

No complaints

By ExperiencedTravelers |

Everybody in our party was satisfied. Service was excellent, prices are about right for what you get. It can be crowded, so reservations are suggested.

Nice surprise

By Bill P |

I don't typically like chains so was very pleasantly surprised with our dinner tonight. I had a fantastic burger, I'm a burger freak so high praise from me on a burger is saying something. The flavor was great, the only complaint is there need to look at layering better, having raw onions with the burger dressing on top and shredded lettuce on the bottom made it impossible to eat with your hands, everything was slipping out. I subbed the sweet potato tots for fries and they were also very tasty. My father in law had the buffalo meatloaf, big bacon wrapped portion on a big bed of mashed potatoes, he loved it. Service was pretty good and attentive. Only one small issue, iced tea was warm not cold, first glass needed ice, refills no ice.... at $3 a glass it should be cold at least. But overall solid experience

Solo dinner

By Todd P |

Walked in and sat at the bar. Service from both bartenders was excellent. Place was crowded lots of folks sitting outside area Ordered the soy salmon over vegetables with brown rice. Did get white rice with the meal. But it was cooked just right. Salmon was hot but a really good medium rare Lots of beer choices if into that Bar tenders are spot on with their service

close to the zoo, food for you

By Paul C |

Stopped in after a visit to the zoo. Great selection of beers and food. Staff was friendly and service excellent. Enjoyed the fish tacos.

Great food!

By OMG |

Sat at the bar for dinner on a Saturday night. Even though it was busy, the bartender was engaging and helpful. Had the meat loaf which was amazing. Definitely will go back. Great selection of beers too.

Great spot

By joseph d |

We sat in the bar because it was a little busy long wait for a table but the waitress was really cool and the food was really good

Good food, good selection of drink/beers, good/friendly service, reasonable prices

By Joel B |

The title says it all. Friendly service, good beer and mixed drink selection and dog-friendly. This is a busy, busy place most nights.

Pure Dead Brilliant

By 11glo11 |

We chose this place because it was so close to the hotel we were staying at, and because of the funky name. It was a very good choice indeed. The food was a amazing. The menu is so varied and unique. Hubby had the chicken pot pie and said it was one of the best he has ever had. The sticky ribs were so tasty as well. Before we ate our entrée we had decided to have the apple and huckleberry pie, but alas, that will have to wait until another trip. The portions are very generous. The wait staff are pleasant and attentive.

Nice place

By David5897 |

This was my first time bringing my dogs to an dog friendly restaurant and I wasn't let down. The staff was very friendly and attentive to both me and my dogs. They offer a nice selection of food for the dogs and their pizzas were excellent. I would definitely recommend this place and will be back.

Love this place

By Hicks3456 |

First I like any place that is dog friendly and this place is very!!! But besides that fact the food and drink is great!!! Service is fantastic and a treat to visit.

Great food and ambiance but you might get a bad waitress.

By Yumi B |

I love the concept of bringing the dogs. I came 2 days in a row. The second day I sat in the dining area. Not impressed. I understand restaurants can be noisy but we got seated next to a booth with 4 loud women. It's ok, they were having fun. It took 10 minutes to have the waitress to come e by after seeing her getting drink orders with people seated after us. She was not too attentive to us but more to the group of loud women in the booth next to us just chatting. She was not as friendly to us as to others she served. Apparently, she was telling my daughter the Mac and cheese she ate the day before, that they can't modify and took it upon herself to order my 13 year old daughter a Mac and cheese from the children's menu. It's not the same. The children's menu is Kraft Mac and cheese. I quickly made sure to let her know that will not be what she is having since she didn't eat that the day before. Luckily, her shift ended and we got a great waiter named Devin. Excellent waiter! Very attentive. Meanwhile, we thought the previous waitress shift ended but she was chatting it up again with the group of women about personal information on the male staff there and their personal information about the status of single or not and how many kids one had.. Etc. We thought it was unprofessional. It wasn't her right to tell strangers about a couple workers love life. The booth on the other side were also shocked with the waitress trying so hard to bond with the group of women by exposing information about staff there. Other than that experience, the food was good. My suggestion would be you are better off in the patio area.. Lots of cute dogs to see a less noisy. The picture attached is solely for the purpose of the restaurant to find who the waitress is before we got fabulous Devin.

Mad Dog Anniversary

We were here the other day and had their calamari and liked it so much that we came back to celebrate our anniversary today.

Good beer and food variety

I loved my pot roast dip sandwich. I had never heard of this sandwich but it was very tasty and filling.Good service and wide beer selection. Within a ten minute walk of several hotels

Nice large group lunch

By db7477 |

Enjoyed a large group lunch at the Lazy Dog. There were sixteen of us. It’s conveniently located in Mission Valley with lot’s of parking in the shopping center. It’s a nice, large facility with TVs in the bar... the food’s good but predictable. The menu has a bit of everything so there must be something for everyone. The Halibut was very good. It’s open and a bit loud. Great place to watch sports and party.

Very good lunch

By Mohsman |

I ate here one year ago, the last time I was in SD. It is as good as last time. How can one not love a place with an outdoor patio that caters to dogs. (I'm biased). They have a varied menu with lots of tempting items. I had their "house red" ale, which was very good and their Thai noodles, also very good. Our server was friendly, efficient and prompt. The overall experience was very good.

Food was excellent and our server was A+

By CBTL 2019 |

Visited with friends on 2.4.19 and it was a great experience. It started out with an amazing hostess named Kaylen who was friendly, super helpful and my wife loved her. Our server Desiree was professional, on point, friendly but not intrusive. The restaurant has a great vibe but be aware parking can be a challenge. Iur food was all excellent but my buddy almost passed out when he found out his two martinis were $14 each! All in all, a great place to hang out.

Honestly very surprised with how good it was

By David D |

I'm not one to throw around words like "the best" lightly so I hope it's taken seriously when I say the sausage and chili oil pizza is one of the best pizza's I have ever had... and I've had a LOT of pizza in my life. I wish I could remember my waitresses name but she was extremely nice and when I asked about the pizza her eyes lit up and she told me it was "very good" if I like spicy food. Well I do and she was very right. The pizza had an amazing taste and the chili oil just really brought up the flavors and spices. I shouldn't say this but I ended up eating the entire pizza in one sitting... it was that good. If you go to this restaurant and like spicy food, try the sausage and chili oil pizza, it is the bomb!

What’s great place

By David S |

We arrive to find a long line but after a drink in the bar we are taken to our table. So efficient. Full menu from oriental to traditional. No one would go without here and it’s not crazy prices. Well appointed interior a bit noisy but not really an issue. We will return

Great food and atmosphere.

By dfndr90 |

Great casual restaurant in the heart of Mission Valley. They have everything from burgers to salads to pizza. Service is great and we were seated quickly on a busy Saturday night. Family friendly, but also they also have a full-service bar. Worth the price and the food is very good.

Good food and moderate prices

By Nailcutter |

Came here while in town for business. Sat at the bar. Ordered a Cobb salad and a Bud Light. Menu a bit tough for me due to lack of healthy choices. Cobb salad sounded good but came with. No chicken and I wanted some bread which was an extra $2.75. Spoke to my bartender and he got my salad remade and took care of the bill On the salad and bread! Salad with the chicken was very good as was the dressing. I also recommend the club sandwich which I usually get. Service was good and prices moderate.

Great Food & Amazing Service

By Lauren |

We came here because my dad and brother wanted a place with a sufficient amount of TVs for the NBA finals. They were satisfied on that front. Service: Our server was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about both the food and drink menu. He ensured to make sure all of our drinks were refilled, etc. throughout the entire game. Food: Very good. Garlic flatbread was a good starter. "Grilled 5 Cheese" for dinner...our server suggested I add in pulled pork (not on the menu, but definitely made it even better). Topped it all off with the "Simm's family S'more" for dessert (Looks like the brownie has nuts in it, but they are white chocolate chips). Warning about spicy foods: I did not get anything spicy, but my family did and said they definitely mean it when the underline the word "spicy" on the menu.

Great place

Great meal had by all 7 of us. We were all more than happy with our meal and drinks. This place offers a great variety of choices making it hard to chose. The waiters and staff are very pleasant also. This was our second time there but it won’t be our last.

A Good Visit

We called to see if we could get our soccer team and families in for a quick bite in between games. They were great and able to accommodate and seat us within 30 minutes. The service was slow....we didn't get checked on very often......we were a big group so I will chalk it up to that. The food was good. Overall a fine experience.

This place has gone down hill

The menu, including the Happy Hour menu, used to be "varied" with some healthy items and would occasionally be upgraded. Now its just boilerplate items. I had a Waldorf Chicken Sandwich tonight, something I've ordered in the past. Instead of the usual fairly adequate portion, it was mostly lettuce and a small blob of filling. My server didn't seem to care. My friend's chicken-rice bowl was unappetizing with deep-fried breaded chicken parts on white rice with not much else. The manager used to be in attendance and would actually ask customers how things were going. Now he and his "helpers" just stand around or hide in the back. This place is getting boring...

Great Times

Amazing experience! Looked for a dog friendly restaurant by my hotel, I hadn’t been to a lazy dog in years but remembering it was dog friendly I chose it. Was it dog friendly? Yes! Was the food good? Yes! 4/4 of our party enjoyed the meal. Amazing considering we all got different Japanese/American/Italian dishes. Everybody got to choose what they wanted and they were all delicious. The dog devoured the chicken bowl. Everybody had a fantastic time.

Department lunch

Our Team enjoyed an excellent lunch at the Lazy Dog today. The restaurant is conveniently located in Mission Valley and they had something for everyone (16) on the menu. They also looked to have a full bar. It's probably a hopping place for dinner and Happy Hour.

Good fish tacos and nachos. Nice and cozy outside with propane heaters. Dog friendly patio. Would return and recommend.

Late Night Grub

My wife and I had the pleasure of stumbling upon Lazy Dog when we were looking for food at 10pm. We were a little lost when we walked in since there was no host to seat us, but after we figured out we could sit wherever the night went well. Our waitress Katelynn was very friendly and attentive; she had tasty recommendations and helped make our dining experience pleasant. They have an awesome late-night happy hour with drink and food specials. We filled up on good food and craft beers! The atmosphere is cute, clean and had a fun music selection. I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for great casual dining.

Lazy Dog Delivers!

I recently took family to the Lazy Dog restaurant and Bar in San Diego, CA. They have many locations and have a sprawling empire of food eateries. The food was decent, the pot pie I received was scrumptious and the drinks were spot on. My family was happy with their meals as well. We would definitely go back if ever in the area.

Onion rings poutine! That’s why I went

I’m on vacation in San Diego California and happened to be in the nearby parking lot in front of Trader Joe’s and was hungry, so I decided to try this restaurant out. It was my first time here. There was plenty of parking available in front of the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty spacious inside as well, and looked very clean and organized. The hostess greeted me promptly and courteously and I was seated immediately. She offered some good recommendations to consider. Nevertheless, I had to wait a while before anyone ever showed up to my table for service. Service was pretty slow getting started, but once my server finally arrived she was friendly and polite. I had read their menu online prior to coming inside the restaurant to see if it was even worth my time, and I was definitely wanting to try their onion rings poutine so that’s what I ordered for my meal. I was not disappointed… The meal was delicious and satisfying. Even though it is on their menu as an appetizer/starter, I ordered this as my main meal and the portion was perfect. It came both with onion rings and fries and had a pot roast on top plus a sunny side up egg and gravy!… I enjoyed this meal. I found the prices here to be reasonable and they seem to have many other delicious items on their menu that I would like to try at some point in the future. I recommend giving this place a try!

Nice evening

My husband and I opted to return to the Mission Valley area where we were staying in lieu of eating in Gaslamp District so we could have a relaxing, quiet meal. We chose Lazy Dog as it was chilly and it offered outdoor seating with heat and a fireplace. The atmosphere was pleasant and it was a bonus that lots of the outdoor guests had their dogs with them. We ordered beer, a wedge salad and Thai Noodles. The food was fresh and tasty, music played had nice variety and wasn't too loud, and we ended up having a very relaxing, quiet experience. Would recommend a visit!
