A hidden gem.

By Richard B |

The wines are all great and surprisingly well priced for the quality. The food selection is minimal as it is a wine bar after all, it's not trying to be a dinner restaurant as they don't have a full kitchen, but you can and should plan to go there for dinner too as the food they do have available is all outstanding.

Authentic Parisian in the heart of downtown Seattle

By lilbanjo |

From the start, La Caviste nails it as a very french wine bar. The wine selection and by the glass offering are just as one would find in the Latin Quarter of Paris; well-chosen, esoteric, and very reasonably priced. No high-end big tannic California monsters...rather well-chosen lesser AOC wines at great prices. And the menu of small plates, charcuterie, cheese, and sweets is perfect for a well-thought-out meal. Don't miss the Lucque olives...buttery little nuggets that brought me home to Beziers. I lived in France for 8 years and have not find a place, or a proprietor as authentique as David and La Caviste.

Probably the BEST WINE BAR west of NYC

By Bobpet |

Go into David Butler's joint ready to love the French. With two blackboards (white and red) full of wonderful French wines to choose from--you will not be disappointed at the quality or the price -- most at $10 as glass. He also tries to keep in stock all of the ten Grand Cru Beaujolais wines - served at the proper chilled cellar temperature. Charcuterie style food is served on slate blanches. Three assortments - fish or Poissonniere, an assortment of salmon rillettes, smoked trout and others. The other two are assortments are terrine of pork, Lyon sausage, Jambon Cru. Pate of chicken livers, all with a cheese, etc. Every platter comes with a giant slab of French Breton butter to slather on baguettes or a sliced bread. You can also get several cheeses at the proper temperature and other goodies on the menu board. Room is a bit loud, but a fun crowd with great waiters.

Great wine bar with amazing snacks

By Nat |

What a great wine bar. French wines by the glass and bottle - pretty big selection that changes via the blackboards. We also had a share plate of jambon, chicken liver pate, cheese, and duck sausage. Delicious. Will definitely be back.

AMAZING!!

We took the monorail after a concert and were looking for a place to eat/drink at 11pm when we stumbled upon this place. Patrick welcomed us warmly (even though they close at midnight). He explained the menu, made great suggestions and overall was a fantastic host. I almost want to return to Seattle solely to return to this LOVELY place. Thank you Patrick for your part in making a lovely evening very memorable!

Exactement!

Low key with helpful courteous service. Everything was delicious, plentiful and just right. Country French.

Small plates, large wines

By ak_f800st |

Le Caviste would be at home in a quiet St. Geremaine or Marais sidestreet in Paris. Small, comfortable and doing one thing very well; wine. And tasty small plates. OK, so two things.

A Parisian bistro in Seattle

By SeahawksFan |

Love the place, if I want to have a feel of being back home in Paris. The menu is short, the wine list long and it is just good food and products are excellent. I enjoy each time the charcuterie platter that is excellent with great pate, sausage and ham. This is a real nice place where it is just nice to go with friends. The owner, David, is really nice and has a passion for wine and good food. He made discover places in Paris I did not know.

outstanding

Great wine list, knowledgeable and friendly servers, nice space, delicious small plates. Good selection of cheeses.

Great place to enjoy some wine

By Mary A W |

I can only review Le Caviste as a wine bar since my friends and I didn't have anything to eat. That said, be aware that the selections are all French. The guidance and recommendations by our waiter were excellent and spot-on. Very relaxed and welcoming place. Prices were reasonable. Space is on the small side, so feels very intimate. Also has outdoor sidewalk seating.

Wine bar with extraordinary plates

By gregjmiller |

I know several people who work at this place, which has been open for quite some time now. I also know the owner, who is well known around town, and is known for his encyclopeidc knowledge of wine. Just because of my usual routines I had not been here until a few weeks ago. I was so angry by the time I was finished..... because I missed the last few years not having this place in my life. The wine choices are vast. The staff are knowledgable about wines and can help anyone navigate the choices. Le Caviste also has a "shop", which is really just an area of the wine bar with higher end wines that you can take home, or drink on site. The food is traditional, simple french foods and the menu is limited. But the ingredients are the best possible ingredients, making the simple dishes stellar gustatorial achievements. As someone who tends to have a substantial appetite, I had no problem making a satisfying meal from the menu. If you love French food and/or wine and/or French culture, this is a place you have to try when visiting Seattle. David Butler does Paris, and Seattle, proud.

Awesome experience

By safety12 |

Walk through the door and transport yourself to France. The menus are all in French but the staff speaks English quite well. We asked the waiter to assist us in making choices of food we had never tried before. It was a delightful experience. We had a full bodied red wine with an order of duck breast, French cheeses, a trout dish cooked in parchment paper and a steak tartare. All of it was delicious and we followed it up with a Sauterne dessert wine with a couple of madeleines. It was a little pricey but cheaper than a trip to France.

As fabulous as I remembered!

By Kerry C |

I haven’t been back to Seattle for a few years so Very happy to see this brilliant wine bar /restaurant still there. I’ve been dreaming of La Caviste ‘steak Tartare’ - And sure enough I was NOT disappointed. It was sublime as I always remembered, washed down with a fabulous glass of the recommended red. So lovely to see David and all the original staff still there. I’m a flight attendant from London so by the time I get to La Caviste which opens at 4pm, I’ve been awake for a very long time but it’s always worth it !!!

As a former resident of Paris....

By Koele99 |

Lived in Seattle now for about a year, longing for the genuine experience - food and wine - of the local bistros we used to visit when living in Paris. Needed to kill some time before we had dinner nearby so checked out TA to see what was around for a drink. Stopped in, had charcuterie and French wine, amazing amazing bread (finally!). Cannot wait to go back.

Take me to Paris!

By npotter2017 |

This is a great place to share a bite and wine with some friends. The atmosphere is cozy, the staff friendly and knowledgeable and the food is very good. Don’t be intimidated by the menu that is all written in French as the servers are more than willing to walk you through it. Three of us shared roasted mushrooms and the seafood platter (not sure of the official name of either). Both were really good. The place is small, so for comfort I would keep your party to four or less.

Small central place with great wine and lovely staff

By Mango-Smoothie80 |

We went there recently for a drink after work. We didn't try the food so can't comment on this. The place is simple and small, but centrally located and has its own specific atmosphere. Despite this location it has reasonable prices - and a great selection of good wine. Also, this place hugely benefits from its lovely stuff. There is real wine expertise there and you should certainly consider their recommendations. They are very friendly and attentive, but not over the top. It was a really nice evening.

Cozy spot

By turkergirl |

Quaint place for a nice glass of wine, with inspired food options. Unfortunately, one of the servers (maybe he's the owner or manager) isn't super pleasant to deal with, so we just interacted with the other 2 servers, and that worked out fine.

Great find

By LEW |

Such a nice respite after being in the city for business. Great wine, great service, and really good small plate/food options. Don't miss this spot!

Can’t go wrong!

By Mark S |

Can’t go wrong! The selection of wines, the knowledge of servers, the atmosphere, snd the selection of small bites is all combined to make something very special. Was a regular visitor before COVID and now have been back 3 x within the last month - did not disappoint at all!!

Best alternative to a hotel dinner

By Lynne B |

I was in Seattle for business and after a long journey did not want to have dinner in a lovely but bland hotel restaurant. I stumbled upon Le Caviste on a Saturday afternoon when jet lag was getting the better of me and I didn’t feel like a later and full meal. I sat down at 5.30 ish and had a couple of glasses of wine and a cheese and pate and jamon on board (there is a much fancier name for this). It was truly lovely. Light but very satisfying. Bread and butter accompanying were divine. I left the wine choice to the lovely staff with my only hints being that I wanted a very full bodied red. It was great. If you are in Seattle this is a lovely intimate place to come and relax.

AMAZING!

By Mercy A |

We happened to walk by this place on our way to another restaurant. We walked in because my husband was frustrated with my inability to figure out my Google map. What an amazing place carefully hosted by a gentlemen who knew so much about cheese and wine (two things we love). Great food, wine and ambiance! After drinking wine with carefully paired cheese, we left and found where we were originally going (received help from the host). What a gem in the city center. We will be back tonight and tomorrow too! Must try!!!

So very French and in the best way possible

By busyeater |

We happened upon this place by chance....what a find! Very French in the best possible way. Small and intimate, cool jazz, not screamingly loud. All the wines are French, reasonably priced by the glass or bottle. Small food menu, but again, very French and a nice change from the usual American or Italian American fare. Most of the other customers were regulars, several lone diners (or drinkers) and they appeared relaxed and comfortable, not out of place. If we lived here, we'd be regulars.

Yes, it’s France!

By Chris H |

Wonderful small wine and food bar! Very knowledgeable staff and owner, LOTS to choose from, both food (shared plates or individual) and wine. NOT pretentious! Authentic! Great prompt service and a lively crowd and atmosphere. They even have several traditional French cafe tables facing the street on the sidewalk. A must for those that enjoy the French experience.

Small but lovely

By l3tsg01 |

This is a small but charming wine bar. It was busy so we ended up at the counter which isn't my favorite spot; however, it gave us the opportunity to chat with the owner which was great. He really took care of us. Although this isn't a restaurant, there is enough yummy offerings to satisfy your hunger :) We had a couple of great bottles of wine and ordered the cured meat platter, the duck pate and the most wonderful cheese we have had here in US. Everything was fantastic and we are very much looking forward to returning! We are very pleased to have found this place.

Taste of paris

By Alex E |

Had an excellent evening in here. I really enjoyed the Beaujolais centred wines and the overall atmosphere. We had several good glasses of wine and an excellent selection of charcuterie and cheese. Sitting at the bar it was a very convivial being looked after by friendly bar tenders who obviously enjoyed what they were serving. If I found this bar in Paris I would be happy which is pretty high praise.

Excellent wine bar

By Christopher S |

Excellent, centrally located French wine bar with very tasty food in tapas style and good value wines. The service was excellent and the waiter was extremely helpful in describing food and wine choices. He did not try to oversell. We had an excellent Merlot/Malbec blend. We had a party of 3 and ended up staying for 3 hours.

Great atmoshpere and great coffee??

By jaimenconder |

We stopped in here late one evening with a few friends. We had a glass of wine and the cheese plate. Everything we tried was great and the service was good. I love the atmosphere here. I started to get a little sleepy so I ordered an Americano. It was great! I'd go back here just to have another one :)

Great find in the busy city.

By Helena6040 |

Stumbled on this place and so glad I did. Charming, small French wine bar /bistro. All wines are French but if you don’t know your French wines it’s ok as they help you after knowing what your tastes are. They even paired cheese with the wine, which was excellent. They have other food and platters of meet and cheese. Would highly recommend this place.

"Intime et cosy" but NOT vegan or vegetarian friendly in any way

By chrisDTW |

I'm a winemaker and grower in St. Helena in Napa valley, and I'm also a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. My wine has also been sold here in Seattle at two wine bars. In addition, I'm also a Purser with Delta Airlines and my normal route is Seattle-Paris every week. So, I received a couple of recommendations to visit Le Caviste and did so last night for my first and probably last time. It is true that this is a very cozy establishment that exudes the feeling of being in an authentic French wine bar. But, the level of service is lacking. Not from the nice regular staff, but the grouchy owner himself. Upon entering, I was greeted by a server and I went to the bar and sat down and was still taking off my coat when the owner came up and gruffly asked, "What are you having?". I told him, "Let me take my coat off and give me a minute to look at the menu". He went away and I browsed the menu which was on chalkboards on the walls. A nice touch, and what appeared to be a really nice selection of wines by the glass and/or bottle. A coworker was joining me and texted me that he was hungry. The owner came up and saw I had finished my delicious glass of Sancerre and asked me if I wanted another. I asked him what vegan food options were available and he laughed and said, "None, this is a French restaurant!" I told him "French restaurants serve vegans and vegetarians, don't you have any vegetables you can cook?" He told me, "You can order the olives". I told him I'll take an order of olives but asked him for a bread basket, and he said "Yes..you can have bread but I only have butter....no olive oil." Bewildered, I asked, What kind of French restaurant doesn't have olive oil?" and he incredulously said, "Maybe the ones in the South". My friend and I enjoyed the wine and the olives were deliciouslly briney and the slices of baguette and country style French bread was truly the closest to actual French bread that I've ever had in the USA. My friend noted the online menu showed pics of steak tartare being boasted as their specialty, and I zeroed in on the pic of the grilled asparagus but neither item was on their actual menu. The owner came by a while later and started to argue about something with me and I asked him, "Have you ever actually been to France?" and he replied, "I go at least once a month" and to that, my coworker laughed and said, "Chris flys to Paris every week!" The food menu at Le Caviste wasn't only bar food but real entrees as well. So that indicated to me, a chef in the kitchen and any good chef (especially one who's cooking French food!!) worth his salt can easily grill up or sauté vegetables in some olive oil and herbs. Oh wait....this particular French restaurant doesn't have olive oil.....!! The "Poor" rating comes from the rude indifference exhibited by the owner (David) and his arrogance towards vegan diners. Otherwise, I could've become a loyal fan.

SPENDY GOOD FRENCH WINES AND FARES

By adeledupre |

The steak tartare served with crispy buttery toasted baguette slices was fresh and scrumptious as well as the white fish on a thin slice of potato with buttery, garlic butter similar to what is used in escargot. The white Muscadet good as well as the red. Great fares however SPENDY for Happy Hour time.Perfect venue for first date because it is slightly crowded but not loud.

Convivial atmosphere with excellent wine selection and tasty food plates

By Jeff B |

Five of us went for wine, food, and conversation in July 2025. Another wonderful experience. Service was friendly and attentive with excellent recommendations for both wine and food. Convivial atmosphere with the menu on a chalkboard. We sat inside. Excellent selection of wine with tasty food plates available.

Amazing evening, incredible staff

By Chelsea D |

We came here and totally enjoyed ourselves. The waiters were fantastic and took the time to explain to us all of wines and meats they had on offer and were incredibly knowledgeable about all of it. We had some beautiful white wine recommended to us and our charcuterie board was delicious!!! Please go here for amazing service and great food/wine!!!

Parisian Cafe in Seattle

Turned a corner and found this Parisan style cafe. Service, small plates and wine in authentic french style. This place is great to unwind after work or sit and people watch with a spouse or friends. The pours are small at 5oz.

Authentic Parisian bistrot-à-vins in Seattle

By LM Archer |

Need an authentic Parisian bistrot-à-vins fix? Alors! Look further than Le Caviste in downtown Seattle. Le Caviste channels all the best features of that favorite little Parisian bistro you’ve secretly dreamed about revisiting someday - you know the one…tucked away in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower (or, in this case, The Space Needle…) with quaint chalk board menus offering up the daily plats du jour and wines by the glass, charming butcher-papered tables, and that inimitable French bonhomie. Le Caviste has it all, including a truly Parisian-inspired wine list. Let’s talk about the wine list. Both white and red lists feature affordable, everyday regional wines by the glass or bottle. Whenever possible, wines sourced reflect organic and sustainable vineyard practices. Delightful finds include a blanc and rouge from France’s Savoie, as well as those from the more familiar Loire, Rhone, Bordeaux, and Burgundy regions. In search of something a bit more complex? Look for a hidden gem or two premier crus tucked among the carte des vins, with uncharacteristically modest prestige pricing to match. Generous plats du jour groan with locally sourced bread, eggs and mushrooms, charcuterie, artisan cheese, imported fish and olives – all designed to stave off hunger and mitigate excess wine intake. On your way out, a sweet little retail section beckons with tasty little take-out bottles at ridiculous retail prices. But before you exit, check out owner and oenophile David Butler’s lovingly compiled list of best wine bistros in Paris…It’ll make you want to jump-start your return to the City of Lights someday…with a few stops at Le Caviste for inspiration!

Wonderful French wine bar

By Mom |

I have been to Le Caviste a few times and always have a wonderful time and learn something new about French wine. David, the owner, is fun, friendly and filled with wine stories. Le Caviste is a great place for a romantic dinner, a post-work glass of wine, or time with friends. Definitely stop in if you are Seattleites or visitors. You will have a wonderful time.

Very Enjoyable

By brmusicman |

I was in Seattle on business and headed to Le Caviste, which was relatively close to my hotel, for a late dinner. What a great spot--small, authentic, and not touristy. It's a little slice of Paris in the middle of downtown Seattle. The menu is written on chalkboards, as are the wines. I was seated right by the window and warmly welcomed by the staff. The staff really knew their wines and was helpful in making a selection; I had a delicious Chablis and, for dessert, a wonderful glass of Sauternes. If you like French wines, you won't have a problem with this place! The food options were limited to a handful of options. I had a light salad, well-dressed, and some cheese. No complaints, but do not head here if your party wants to choose from among a large menu of dishes that hits all of the French classics. The emphasis here is definitely on "wine bar" with a few snacks that compliment the wines on offer. Quite lovely; I will not hesitate to return when in Seattle on business.

Ridiculously delicious food

By Kevin H |

The place is simple and small but atmospheric. The French menus are short. The food extraordinary. Rainbow trout cooked in parchment with dill and scalloped potatoes! Forrest mushrooms with garlic and a six minute egg. $20.

Good but not Great

By Chelsea F |

Fabulous and extensive wine selection in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Helpful staff, however, more than once I was left looking around for someone to fill my wine glass. The charcuterie board was lacking additional accouterments that would make the delicious cheeses truly stand out.

Lovely spot

By ItalianaSeattle |

Agree with the other reviews - this place is small and perfect. Great selection of wines by the glass, with a helpful staff if you're not up on your French or your French wines. The charcuterie plates are excellent quality and a great value. Definitely a great place to either kick off or finish up a night out.

Butter!!

By Tehani D |

This place was a first for my friend and I and it did not disappoint! I couldn't understand the menu at all (apparently 2 years of French was not enough) but the guy was super helpful and explained everything. He even made wine recommendations for me. The charcuterie was exactly what I was looking for. I'm not usually a butter eater, but MAN, it was amazing.

Delicious charcuterie, cheeses, & pates with LOTS of wine - can't go wrong!

By tcck55210 |

Great service, really delicious charcuterie & cheeses, & lots of yummy wines to choose from. I'm not too fancy, so the server was really friendly and helpful with selections! She got exactly what we were looking for based on our descriptions, both in terms of wine & food. One thing: I wish their bread was warm, everything else about it was top notch. And the prices aren't too bad, either! Glad to have found such a cute & tasty charcuterie/wine bar! Definitely don't miss.

Takes one back to European Dinning

By Evi_02 |

We stumbled upon this lovely gem as we were walking down 7th street. This is one of the loveliest old world charm restaurants you will find. Growing up in Europe, I have missed a place like this for so long, and finding this took me back. They only serve wine but it is some of the best wine you will have. The menu is written on a chalk board and all in French, however, the owner David will assist you in any way possible. They serve chacuturie on wooden boards, they have about three different ones, however you can mix and match however you want. Terrific cheese's, and the bread is delicious, they serve tartar, and have a warm fish dish that melts in your mouth. This is restaurant is very small and I would not recommend bringing small children here. But it is romantic and social and a hidden gem and wish they had one in Monterey where we are from.

Adore this little spot

By brmusicman |

This has been a favorite spot to visit on various business trips to Seattle. Service is always excellent; the staff is warm and knowledgeable. The space is cute--small and intimate. I love to sit at the small bar and enjoy a light meal and glass of wine. They're open late--a perfect end to a long day of meetings or late dinner after a long flight to Seattle. The wine selection is great, particularly if you line wines from Beaujolais. Staff have always been helpful with making choices. And the food's great--very French, a limited but tasty menu. Just a fantastic little spot that seems to get better with each visit.

The night cap

By dashark12 |

This location is probably good anytime of the day but it's fantastic spot for a last glass of wine and some cheese by the oz. small cozy French wine bar that is just across from the beautiful court house. Could also be a good pre funk spot or quick bite before going out.

Seattle, meet Paris

By Amie L |

If you are seeking wine with character this is the place! As others have stated what really makes this bistro is its owner, David Butler. He is the former sommelier at Le Gourmand and Le Caviste is his venue for charcuterie, pate and other delicious treats with perfectly paired wines. With its intimate atmosphere, this is the ideal spot for date night or a quick glass of wine with friends. I highly recommend it!

Perfect Spot for a Celebration

By Luckylala2014 |

As a local Seattle-ite looking for a low-keyed yet elegant spot to toast my husband's significant birthday, Le Caviste came to mind. We gathered with good friends, the wine flowed freely and the owner and barman made sure everyone was happy and sated. Everything about Le Caviste is just right: the intimate atmosphere, the interesting and unobtrusive soundtrack, the measure of salt to fat (but no sugar!) and the well-chosen choices of fairly-priced wines by the glass. All adds up to a perfect place to share a special moment ... or perhaps it is the place that makes the moment special?

Absolutely a touch of Paris in Seattle

By tombiro |

If I could eat here every night, I would. From the decor to the staff to the simplicity of it all, it's a lovely place to dine in Seattle. No complicated menu, a few smart options whether you're into charcuterie, cheeses, vegetables, fish, or beef. Love the steak tartare, and think it's one of the best in the entire city. The fish in paper is tremendous. Oh, and the wine list is perfect. TONS of by-the-glass options, smart folks able to pair food with wine or make great recommendations. Oh, and the vibe is pretty tremendous, too. Whether you're solo or not, this is a place to hang out and enjoy awhile.

Outstanding Parisian-style Seattle wine bar without pretense

By Midwest Mark |

I was in Seattle for work early this month, and a local friend told me that I needed to go visit Le Caviste for wine and snacks. I found it easily with my phone map, and was even able to sit at one of the sidewalk tables out front and enjoy the beautiful weather. This wine bar is very Parisian in style, complete with a by-the-glass wine chalkboard that only lists the grape or appellation ("hey, its Vouvray...you want a glass or no?"). I was lucky enough to have the owner David wait on me, and he encouraged my selections of wines to go with their cured seafood platter (think of it as "charcuterie from the sea"). This platter was amazing! Different smoked and cured fish along with rye toast, baguette and butter. It was such a great plate and filled me enough to count as my dinner. The wines I had were delicious too, all French (of course) and since David had selected them for his list I trusted that they were quality...which they were. I look forward to visiting again on my next trip to Seattle.

Great atmosfear!

By Jonas_Meling |

We droped in while we were on 4 night stay in Seattle we were mey by a great host that recommended win and snacks to go with it (fish platter) whcih was truly amazing. He could tell us about the wine and he could answere all of out questions. The host also helped us find a great resturant for dinner and got us a cab.

Grazing or Casual eating with French Flair

By Allan T |

This place is in the heart of Downtown Seattle. Seems like a place for office people to grab a light meal before heading home or socializing after work., The presentation is casual but knowledgeable. The staff knows what it is doing and does it with out excessive fuss. Food was simple but well prepared. You can mix and match dishes tell you can't eat another bite. There is a large selection of wines by the bottle or the glass. I took my sister in law here and it hit just the right note of relaxed sophistication. I will drop by again.

Wish they believed in sugar, fruit and flour, it would be a 5 star rating . Maybe cushions to sit longer

By Atiziano |

I do not mind paying the 12$ for the glass of wine, They have a interetsiung wines I would not drink on my own but allow my nose and tongue to experience soils and tanins of varied nature. Deserts to finish the evenings would be great.

I'm still dreaming about the cheese/meat plate

By cyn_letsgo |

I don't know much about French wine but I saw the reviews for this place and this was exactly what I was looking for while we were in Seattle. We told the woman helping us what type of wine we like to drink and she helped us pick out a couple of great glasses. The food we ordered was amazing. Several days later and that's all I can think about. We went on a Friday night around 9:00 and the tables were full but they made sure to find us a seat.

Intimate Parisian wine bar in Seattle

By Bill L |

We knew of Le Caviste by a recommendation from a friend and fellow wine enthusiast. We'd had a large lunch and the idea of small plates with a glass of wine sounded just right. About a mile from our hotel but it was worth the walk. Le Caviste is a very small wine bar with a few bar seats, 4 or 5 small tables inside, and some sidewalk seating. Very relaxing. A great place for couples. The wine and food menus are hand written chalk boards. They clearly change, but no idea how often. Excellent wine list (all French) with sparkling, white, rose, and reds covering a variety of regions. Listed by region + producer. Prices ranged mostly from $6 - $12 for a 15 cl pour. Almost all available by the glass. Food menu had 7 or 8 items including 3 Planche options. For the 3 of us (wife, myself, and son) we ordered a Planche du Beaujolais and a poisson en papillote. The planche was a wonderful combination of salami-style meats, cheese, butter, breads, and pork terrine. The poisson was trout on top of thinly sliced potatoes, cooked to perfection. Staff was friendly, very helpful with the food descriptions and wine recommendations.

Great wines and food

By CharlotteS88 |

David has probably the largest choice of wines from Beaujolais (not NOUVEAU but CRUS) in the entire US territory. As a French person, I have to say that I am very happy to see someone placing all his efforts to choose the best products for his wine bar. The cheeses are great, the wines affordable... What are you waiting for?!!!

The best steak tartare on this side of the world

By MMFoucher |

As a French person steack tartare has a very special place in my heart, and the steack tartare from le Caviste is for sure the best I had so far in the USA. They also offer delicious "planches", as well as seasonal salads and veggies, and of course they have a great selection of French wines. Highly recommended.

Romance Seattle at my favourite wine bar

By Wookie-Orlando |

This little jewel is nestled amongst the tall buildings of downtown and even though contemporary in design definitely brings a bit of Paris to Seattle. The owner David Butler has been in the industry for so many years that he has forgotten more about food and wine than I will ever learn. Well travelled, a published author, a lover of jazz and a massive fan of Paris evident by the wine, cheese and food he serves. As for the culinary delights......... well what can I say except this is where Le Caviste shines. Simple, sensibly priced, delicious, healthy and unique is what comes to mind. The menu is on chalkboards behind the counter, therefore there is no ugly card to clutter the intimate tables. Obviously, the usual charcuterie and cheese platters are available but items such as Poisson en papillote (fish filet baked with thin potato and lemon slices in parchment paper), Steak Tartare (authentic and accompanied with butter-fried baguette slices) are examples of some of the delicious fare. All accompanied by authentic French bread and butter. In addition to the great menu, David is very particular about selecting the wines for his restaurant. As to be expected he has to sample many wonderful French wines – a tedious task that I for one would enjoy undertaking.

What a gem!

By Kenda H |

Came across this neighborhood gem. Great wine selection with small grower producers from France. Delicious cheese and charcuterie plates. Would highly recommend a visit. Reminds you of a small cafe in Paris with dim lighting and cute outdoor tables. We visited twice.

Just like Paris

By SDA |

Been here a few dozen times. First thing I said when returning from a Paris was “Le Caviste is legit!” French wine, cheese, bread and, who needs anything else! Love this place.

Great Wine and French Food in Seattle

By bneb0y |

Fantastic French bistro in Seattle serving up outstanding meals and wine. Really appreciated the service and food /wine knowledge of the staff. Nice touch with the blackboard menus 🍷

Seattle's best.

By LeDinnerlady |

So, we found this amazing place by accident when we first arrived in Seattle. A wonderful oasis of good wine and some of the most excellent plates of food ever! ( we holiday in France every year). The guys who run the bar are knowledgeable and incredibly welcoming which is why we chose it again for our last night. Just a fabulous place, don't miss out!

A gem in the Emerald City!

By brmusicman |

I had some time in Seattle, and I was so glad to see that Le Caviste was back open, after a pandemic-related closure. It was better than ever. I just love this little spot in downtown Seattle! I visited late on a weeknight. Per usual, I was welcomed by warm and inviting staff. There were a few tables outside and a few inside. The atmosphere is so cozy! My meal was outstanding: a totally delicious salad with radishes, perfectly dressed; trout, cooked perfectly and simply in parchment; and a segment of yummy French cheese for dessert. And, of course, the wines! I love the focus on Beaujolais; if you like light reds, head here, because you can try some outstanding stuff. Just a gem. Definitely worth your time on a visit to Seattle.

Paris in Seattle

We love this wine bar. Love. Love. Love. First, it has an atmosphere like none other. Its welcoming neighborhood feel is just what we delight in. The wine is of course spectacular with many options. You can order by the glass and try several or enjoy a bottle. You can also take a bottle home for reasonable retail prices. The food is a simple menu but delicious. We love the fish cooked in parchment paper and the radishes with arugula. You can leave this restaurant satisfied in every single way and not break one hundred dollars for two people. Good food, Good wine, and affordable. You will think you are in Europe!
