This had been our pre-theatre restaurant, but our last two visits have been disappointing. The food is good, but it takes forever to get it. This last time, we ordered a salad and a tartine that did not need to be cooked - they only needed to be assembled. We waited over 20 minutes for it to arrive. The time before this, we saw our food sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up. We watched it sit there for a good 10 minutes before we were able to get our server's attention. This time, it was good thing we gave ourselves an hour for lunch or we would have been late to the play. The manager was was more attentive than our server. Unfortunately, we will have

One of our favorite places when we want something quick but not fast food. The food is really good and the staff is great.

Great food - fresh ingredients. Such a cool new concept and all the staff is so friendly. I love going here for breakfast/brunch - they have so many healthy and organic options, this place is a healthy eater's paradise. They have almond milk, quinoa scones, chia seed pudding and organic coffee. What more could one ask for? We were sitting at the larger tables and saw that they have their own recipe book! I was quick to grab a copy and can't wait to try out the recipes in it. This place is definitely my go-to spot now whenever in Philly and looking for a great brunch place (we went here on a Sunday afternoon). Not worth waiting in long lines to get seated when you can just walk in here and eat in a laid back environment AND have all the healthy options you need at your fingertips.

You would never know this was part of a chain..everything is top quality and "spare no horses" in attention to detail..handsomely served on lovely table appointments, with delightful garnishes like tiny, tinypickles and micrscopically thin radish slices. Bread is extraiordinary. My fave when I'm anywhere in the neighborhood!

We were walking down the street looking for a place for lunch. We saw that bakery and thought that we could grab a sandwich there. One you get in there the atmosphere is very welcoming. The long table in the middle of the place where more than 12 people can sit and all the furniture are made of wood that make the place warm. On the menu we find more than just sandwich. They have a large selection of meal. They also have a good choice of vegetarian or vegan meal. We decided to go with the Gazpacho has appetizer. For main dish I had the Tartine Chicken Curry salad and my girlfriend took the Quinoa Taboule. The gazpacho was very tasty and just a little bit spicy. The tartine was a good size and the curry salad was very good. The Quinoa Taboule is in fact a green salad with Quinoa on top. But it was very good. The olive oil they use has dressing is very tasty. For drink we had the Mint lemonade and Ice tea lemonade. The Mint lemonade has very nice taste of citrus, and just a bit of sugar to counteract the acidity. In the Ice tea lemonade you can taste the tea and citrus and like for the Mint lemonade the sugar was just there to balance the acidity of the citrus. For desert we had the Carrot cake (vegan) and Raspberry pie with cafe au lait. Has my girlfriend can't drink milk they do use almond or soya milk on request. The staff is very nice and they never rush you. So you can sit there have you lunch at your own pace and just enjoy the moment. They also have a nice selection of Belgium product that you can buy there. And a nice selection of bread that you can buy. You can buy most bread by 1/4, 1/2 or the full bread. It was a very nice surprise has we didn't know what to expect when we enter. Are we going back... definitely the next time we are in Philly.

Perfect for breakfast or lunch. Skillet Baked Eggs were delicious, nicely presented, and sizzling. Rapid friendly service. I’ll be back.

I was here on election day morning while my wife was undergoing a procedure at nearby Pennsylvania Hospital. There are a lot of good breakfast choices and my French Toast with berries turned out to be a good one. It was served with a large pot of tea - I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't say how good their coffee is. But if you just want coffee/tee and a pastry, there is a wide selection. Wifi connection was good allowing me to catch up on some work and my server, Mary was helpful and pleasant. This particular cafe is close to Pennsylvania Hospital, Wills Eye Hospital and Walnut Street Theater and accessible by SEPTA bus and PATCO line from New Jersey. Outdoor tables available in the good weather,.

Visited with friends pre-theater because of the convenient location. We're vegetarian, so we liked the vegetarian-friendly options. But the food was rather pedestrian and bland. The pea soup was thick, but needed more spice. The quiche was OK accompanied by a plain sandwich. The open-faced tuna sandwich was large, but made with dark meat tuna. It would be acceptable if the cost of the meal was less, but the value just isn't there - dinner for four that included a drink, a cup of soup, and an entree for each exceeded $100. Finally, the server was less than friendly. We'll probably look elsewhere next time we're theater bound.

I was so surprised to enter such a quaint restaurant. It was warm and welcoming. I had the Quiche Lorraine which comes with a nice salad. The Quiche was so light and fluffy. It was delicious. The best Quiche I've had in a long time. My husband had the soup and a bread basket. He loved his meal also. The jams for the breads were wonderful. Every meal I saw on other tables looked great. I will be going back again when I go into the city. I highly recommend this restaurant for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

My daughter and I ate breakfast here twice on our recent short visit to Philly. I had the Petit Dejeuner the first day and was not disappointed- just like a good French cafe. Had the Sunny Side Breakfast Bowl the second day and it was delicious. Coffee and Cafe au Lait were also very good, and fresh squeezed OJ. There are lots of private tables and one big communal table, and seemed to be a mix of locals and tourists.

Creative and excellent quality food from breakfast through dinner. Atmosphere is bright and cheery and seems to enhance conversation. Service is great and never rushed.

A stand-out among Le Pain Quotidien's current healthy, tasty offerings is avocado toast---which I consider worth a detour. Smears and slices of avocado on toasted whole wheat sourdough are sprinkled judiciously with cumin flavored sea salt, an exciting combination. LPQ is a reliable stop for breakfast, snacks, light lunches and of course, their outstanding breads and tarts.

One slice of meat on a sandwich. Cold coffee. Slow/poor service. If you do not mind small portions & expensive fair quality food this place is for you.

Fantastic breakfast (one had the breakfast sandwich, one had the breakfast bowl), Americano and service! Delicious meal with very friendly staff (both the server and upon entering). Highly recommend!

We were tourists in Philly for the 4th & didn’t know where to eat after the parade. Luckily we found this place and loved every minute we were I there and every bite we took. It was so above the average brunch fare and, as vegans, had so much to offer we had a hard time deciding. Our server was very busy but no so much that it was a bother. And that BREAD!! We left very full and very happy!

We came across this wonderful restaurant by accident! We were strolling past and saw what looked really inviting. My wife looked at the menu and we decided to have lunch. What a great experience! Wonderful ambience...great service and wonderful food! We highly recommend this spot.

Dropped in here one afternoon after some sightseeing. Ordered a chocolate croissant...no can do, all out. Ordered an iced Belgian mocha...it came luke warm and watery. Not sure what happened to the 'iced' bit. My son had a lemonade that tasted like it was made with a bitter lemon concentrate. My wife had a pot of hot tea. That was ok.

This place is a little different, but I actually really liked it. Unfortunately only one server for the whole place that morning, so it was little slow. But I had a Belgian Hot Chocolate that was awesome. I also really enjoyed my waffle. Different than any I've ever had. It was crunchy and lightly crusted with sugar. Yum. Nice European feel to the restaurant. Airy and a fun community table in the center. I would return here for sure. But I wouldn't bring my kids again since they didn't love the menu offerings.

Great food, nice service and top location. Communal table is great and omelettes, bakery, amazing coffee and jams are there!

Extensive menu with delicious, fresh food! We ate here two times on a short weekend trip to Philly, once for an afternoon snack and once for breakfast. The gentleman at the counter was so pleasant and friendly, and the food was so tasty. The ham omelette came with a delightful green salad with light, citrusy dressing, and warm fresh bread. Tea-to-go comes in two sizes, both for the same price. I would definitely return to this location when visiting the area again. It is a little pricey, but fresh, healthy food is worth a bit more money in my opinion.

Pretty good latte. Excellent croissant! Staff is kind. Atmosphere is very open and relaxing. If you’re passing by, certainly stop in!!!

We stopped in before a show and were delighted with the god food and friendly service. It is an upscale coffee house with nice light dishes, soup and salads....and great sweets.

Used to come here years ago when I was a medical resident. Went yesterday and the avocado toast and coffee were excellent. Service was great.

Really nice atmosphere, rustic, unpretentious, great service and very good food. After having left France a week earlier, I was craving for a decent pastry for breakfast and got one! In addition I ordered a goats cheese and spinach omlette which was heavenly and just what I needed on a Sunday morning before a power shop in downtown Phily. The menu was varied with a choice of specials, pastries or more traditional breakfasts. The tea came in a pot and extra organic bread came with the omlette. The crowd here is mainly local and mixed from solos to families gathered round a big communal table. The best thing apart from the food was feeling unrushed, despite the fact that the place was busy with people waiting. Oh and by the way, do leave space for the pain au chocolat! Made me miss France so rang my parents in France to tell them how good my breakfast was!

You can't find a better spot for a quick, inexpensive, casual lunch with table service. Many healthy options, including vegan, that are totally delicious and would appeal to everyone. I had a kale/veggie/cheddar frittata that was perfectly prepared and very satisfying, served with fresh greens and unbelievably good fresh bread. Service was outstanding. The place is casual, pleasant and enjoyable spot to eat.

I have eaten breakfast/brunch two times at this location. Quality of fresh food is wonderful along with a large selection. The breads are awesome (try the jelly as well). Something for everyone.

I was recommended this place by a lady working at the Philadelphia History Museum. The Smoked Salmon Tartine was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was very relaxed, which was exactly what I needed after a day of sight-seeing.

Several years ago we used to frequent Le Pen Quotidien in NYC and loved it. A couple years ago we visited the other location in Philadelphia and it was good. Today we were in Philadelphia at brunch time and visited this location and I've decided I'm very over this place. First, the prices are high, but if you like to spend almost $50 for 2 for a relatively small breakfast, plus the price of parking, maybe this place is for you. Second, the first plate brought was dirty and had to be replaced. Third, no milk was brought for my oatmeal although I asked for it and the waiter repeated my request. He didn't return either. Next, the coffee is okay but for $3.40 you get one cup. It's delivered in a coffee pot with a cup sort of like a soup bowl. So, the coffee, once poured is instantly cool. The food was okay--certainly not worth the price. We had a small breadbasket, my husband had a piece of toast with salmon, a tiny amount of Greek yogurt, and some capers, and I had a dish of oatmeal--no accompaniments…including milk. And we each had a cup of coffee. Everything was decidedly mediocre and maybe that's why the place had so few people in it. We've discovered places in the suburbs with wonderful bread and pastries and coffee at much more reasonable prices…that are far superior. In fact, we stopped at one of them to get some hot and good coffee on the way home. Definitely disappointing. Go elsewhere.

Both vists, two different server, better every-time! The food is very classy, and organic. And very good quality foods, services, and location!

My wife and I ate breakfast here in January 2017. Le Pain Quotidien is located in an area near several major hospitals. My wife wanted to eat breakfast here and I decided to go in despite the fact that my experience with Le Pain Quotidien in New York has been very poor (poor service and cold hot chocolate). I was pleasantly surprised. We had an outstanding breakfast. I had steel cut oatmeal, yogurt with berries and toasted multigrain raisin bread with butter. My wife had quiche and soup. The server was decent and we enjoyed our meal here. It is very interesting that I gave Le Pain Quotidien in New York a "1" rating and Le Pain Quotidien in Philadelphia a "5" rating.

We were walking to the IHOP when we happened upon Le Pain Quotidien. Im glad we did because we had a lovely breakfast. I ordered the coffee, and my wife had the Chai Tea. We both had pancakes. I chose the fruit and my wife chose the chocolate. We both enjoyed the meal. I would say though we enjoyed the atmosphere even more. Very clean. We chose to sit in the super comfy leather chairs. It was thoroughly relaxing. Our one complaint was they did not have a huge selection from the food menu.

We were walking around historic Philadelphia and stopped in for lunch. We sat outside as we found inside too cold from the a/c. The patio was wet and empty. We really enjoyed our food: gazpacho, lentil salad, and some sandwiches. Not sure if they were understaffed for the day but our service out on the patio was poor. That being said we all agreed that we would eat there again if opportunity provided itself.

We visited Le Pain Quotidien for a late lunch. It is situated close to the Wills Eye and Jefferson hospitals and other medical facilities. When entering, it was seat-yourself and not so busy. There is a large table down the middle, but plenty of smaller tables around the outside and some outside seating. However, it was a little chilly that day out of the sun, plus there is the diesel fumes to contend with, since Walnut Street is a bus route, so we chose a window seat. Overall, it has a pleasant atmosphere, with lots of natural light and high ceilings. There were plenty of servers available, so service was prompt and responsive. We ordered soup and open-faced sandwiches. The place doubles as a bakery, so, as expected, the bread was good and crusty. The soup was good, as were the turkey and ham sandwiches. They were served with nice garnishes, but the plates were small, so food tended to spill onto the table. We skipped dessert, but went up to the counter to buy some to take away. However, pickings were a bit slim, I guess since it was later in the day, so we settled for a baguette for later. This is a good choice for lunch, although prices were a bit on the steep side

What a lively setting and mouth watering display of Jams, savories and other spreads tickling your taste buds. Very nice dining areas. Delicious breakfast dishes.Good friendly service. Except for slightly higher prices, every thing else is fantastic. Must visit place.

Very cute French-style bakery-restaurant with a staff that was friendly and happy to be of service. We had: Ham & Gruyere Croissant: smaller than expected, but delicious Dragonfruit Smoothie Bowl: friend said it was great Watermelon drink special: had mint and maybe orange juice, it was very refreshing Iced Coffee: very good Espresso: very good, with nice "espumita" (foam that covers a well-made Cuban coffee) The baguettes and rustic breads on the racks looked so appetizing, it is unfortunate we did not have more time in our trip to grab one for later snacking. Overall, Starbucks-like prices with good flavors all around.

If you are looking for organic and healthy food here is your place. The menu is very hipster like with some interesting stuff. The flavors are OK although I wasn't a big fan of their different organic bread which is the main attraction of the concept. Pricing is really high for not big portions and I understand that this is in the heart of the city and that everything healthy is way too expensive.

Their chicken soup is outstanding! Lean chicken, veggies, and quinoa... My husband had the Cobb roasted chicken, bacon, avocado, and Bleu cheese. The prices were extremely high, however it is right beside Jewelers Row, so what do you expect? A lovely morning or afternoon experience. Okay

It is a nice place for coffee and snacks... I had a delicious cappuccino... Very friendly staff... Excellent service... Cool atmosphere... It is highly recommended!!!

Two breakfasts two days in a row, that's how good it is. For French people in search of taste, this is the right address and the staff is very nice.

The food was good, the service was okay, the atmosphere was nice, but it wasn't anything special. The small group of us came when it was not busy, ordered the tartines, open faced sandwiches, which were nice, but ordinary, in the $12-15 range. A sandwich and a non-alcoholic drink came to an average of $19 per person, without tip. I expected something more and felt disappointed, except that I was with friends and had good overall experience.

Initially I wasn't sure if it was the place for breakfast but once I sat and looked at the menu it was appealing. There were many choices and food was very fresh and purchased locally. The cup of coffee was HUGE.

We are often in the neighborhood for a matinee at The Walnut Street Theater so I cannot explain how we didn't try this place before! Our theater group is quite diverse and each one of us loved it. Decor is simple and welcoming with the aroma of freshly baked breads. Staff and service is top notch, quick, efficient, and pleasant. The menu is perfect. Yes, I said perfect (at least it is for our theater group). It was the first time that I have seen that many vegan and organic selections mixed in with the more mainstream offerings along with the choice of breakfast or lunch at 1:00 pm. Did I mention yet that the breads are fantastic? Did I mention yet that a trio of jams and nut butter are placed on the table to slather on the fantastic bread? Right there its a rating of five! But back to variety and choices ... two of us had meat and cheese omelets (one with gluten free crackers) served with a spring mix salad, one had an open face ham and gruyere sandwich served with a trio of mustards to die for, and I was in heaven with a vegan and organic Quinoa Tabouli Salad with Chickpeas and Avocado on Arugula. Another important mention is the freshness of the produce; I've rarely, if ever, seen better (especially with organic produce). Can't wait for a return visit.

Excellent breakfast - had the avocado toast which was very tasty and different from anything we had before. The berry bowl made a nice compliment (not included ). Also an avocado and tomato omelet. Includes a nice salad and bread. Pricy but defiantly worth it

I have eaten at other branches of this Parisian style bistro and I'm never disappointed. I especially love the croissants and other pastries including the pain chocolat but the regular food items like soups and sandwiches are also good. Coffee is fine and I so prefer this to Starbucks, for example.

The food and service are excellent. The ranges of food on offer are different. If you are a vegetarian there are some good options. The Pecan pie is also very good.

This is such a very fine place. 12 of us ate lunch there this past Saturday (6/23) and 12 of us were happy. The place did such a good job finding a spot to serve us all in our group. What super fresh, healthy food, with wine and tasty deserts. Yum. This was our favorite meal in Philadelphia.

Truly organic fresh food, carbon neutral, reliable experience. Staff friendly, excellent coffee. Have visited in many cities in the u.k and the U.S. and the consistency of quality and service is very reassuring.

This restaurant is a very short walk from the Barnes Foundation (essentially across the street), and not too far from the Franklin Institute. They have standard bakery items like croissants, but also have a varied and excellent selection of other breakfast items. I got a small bowl of brown-rice pudding for about $5-6, which was great. Some breakfast items can get a little pricey, such as the omelet for $12, though it's a goat cheese and shiitake mushroom omelet that came with a side salad. Excellent overall, and I'm looking forward to going back.

I had a very good sweet potato soup and goat cheese toasts. Simple food, but very very tasty and well presented. I finished off with carrot cake and coffee. The coffee was a bit disappointing. The only disturbing thing was that next to each item on the menu was the calorie count! I guess good for those who are on a diet, but made me feel guilty (although the carrot cake was surprisingly not as high as other desserts - but still very tasty).

Visited this place for lunch as it looked the most appealing in the neighbourhood. Found the specials very good. A chicken salad mixture on toasted bread. Nice ambience and feels more relaxing than places like Starbucks.

After big Philly 4th Parade, soooo lucky to happen upon this lovely restaurant with lovely vegan choices!! I gobble up my blackbeanmash + sweetpotato + chipotleaioli (vegan) + arugula + avocado on organicsourdough wwtoast. My hubs choice didn’t send him over the moon (can’t remember his order) but my teen daughter was in heaven. Breads and jams and coffees oh my!

Communal wooden tables in a rustic environment make the setting interesting and surprisingly welcome. The food is very well prepared and good value for the quality. Excellent place for breakfast, brunch and a light lunch as choices on the menu are simple, albeit delivered with flair. The one are for marked improvement is their service staff and therefore the management. The servers are slightly disorganised, not overly friendly and are allowed to eat at any time in the main restaurant part which means that they congragate at these designated tables instead of looking after the customers. Very strange indeed!

We started visiting Le Pain Quotidien in NYC and were very pleased to see it's now in Philadelphia. The breads are wonderful and the menu is more expensive than the menu in NYC. Try all the jams and spreads and the pastries while you're there. Everything is excellent and fresh. We also love the wooden tables---so French!

We stopped by for some coffee and decided to try the bread. We were not disappointed. We have been avoiding carbs, but the splurge was well worth it since the breads in the bread basket were delicious and freshly baked. The fig jam was a wonderful addition. The people there were so warm and welcoming. There was a cooking class in progress that looked like so much fun.

Delicious Sourdough Bread Had their smoked salmon, open faced sandwich and a large Late - The bread was tasting great, almost as good as the bread I bake myself. The cold smoked salmon was delicious - overall a very nice meal

Affordable, good food in an easy location to get in and out if in a hurry. Great bread to purchase to go. Love the bright open windows.

Yes, it's a chain, but it's a good bakery, great flavors, fair pricing and friendly staff. Loved the avocado toast, the croissants and the skillets. Take home some preserves if you can.

Wether it was the beauty of the day or the view from the "Paris like" sidewalk table, this place was really nice. The service was prompt, attentive and informative. I found the menus extensive and reasonably priced. The balsamic reduction, tomatoes and goat cheese were as good as I've had. Parking is a premium, tables facing the park are the best, crowded at lunch.

My wife and I popped into the bakery/restaurant one Sunday afternoon. It was not very crowded. The place is spacious and has a rustic look. Overall, it had a nice ambience. The servers are courteous and service is swift. This restaurant offers organic bread, fresh fruits, farm eggs and gluten-free food. The only thing is that there are not many meat items. The bread is really nice. If you like healthy food, this restaurant is for you. I was impressed with their shaved vegetables.

Like many, I usually turn off at the suggestion that organic food is tasty, interesting, and fulfilling but Le Pain turns that on its head. There is a wide variety of food and both my GF and I had great meals (I took liberal samples from hers...). The service is informal and pretty fast and our waiter had a distinct European flair. He was more than helpful and earned a good tip. There are mostly individual tables but also a long family style table in the middle where we sat, entertained by a young lady and her parents across the table. The young lady was busy sampling all the fruit spreads they have and reporting her findings (cherry was her favorite). I would almost drive the hour into Center City just to eat here. It's that good.

Loved this place food is delish not your ordinary run of the mill food. They also have bread making classes. Cappuchino was excellent I had the toast with peas etc. which was very good and different healthy and yummy. Will definitely go bAck again!!

Went there last weekend for a mocha and it was not very good. The mocha was not sweet at all and it came slightly cold. The seating in this place is awkward with one very long table and few small tables which means you often have to share with others.Waiters seemed strangely angry, not overly friendly. Not the best experience

Went there with a couple of friends, but I only had the multi-berry dessert tart and a glass of wine. It was acceptable, but not outstanding for a bakery.

Always prompt and friendly service. Food is freshly prepared and the bread and pastries are very good. ( no saran wrapped sandwiches) and the coffee is very good. I like this place!

Was looking for a quick coffee on a Sunday and spotted this place. Very nice atmosphere, good menu, delicious food (the scrambled eggs with salmon and sour cream was perfect) and excellent coffee. Glad I stopped in

Have now met friends for lunch at Le Pain Quotidien twice - I had the Quiche Lorraine, which comes with a salad, and friends had the Turkey & Avocado Tatine and the Cobb Salad today. All lunches were delicious! We ate outside today, nice & shady, but Walnut Street can be noisy with traffic at lunchtime, so be aware of that.

Stopped here for brunch after appointment in city. Really surprised by the selection of food offerings. I had egg frittata that was just as good as same item at other "regular" restaurants. Service was very good. I will stop by again when in the area.

After a doctor's appointment at Jefferson Neurosciences one block away, we were hungry and had spotted this cafe on our way into town. The service was good and the food we ordered was also very tasty. Great bread! I had a daily special: cauliflower, kale, and cheddar frittata with a lovely small salad and two pieces of their bread (one white, one wheat). My son had a ham sandwich smothered with cheese inside and out, which also came with the salad (first hot meal on the regular menu, I forget the name "Something Monsieur". His sandwich was served with three kinds of mustard on the side. They gave us delicious jam for the bread. Water was served in a bottle on the table. Our total bill was $27, not cheap, but not too bad.

We stopped for lunch between museum visits and it was a delightful if rather busy place on a Saturday. We were able to relax and enjoy our conversation. Food was light and tasty. I had the Baker's Lunch with minestrone that was hot and a quinoa salad that was cool and refreshing with avocado toast. For dessert I chose Chia Coconut pudding. The coconut was very mild and it tasted more like just a pudding to me. Very interesting as I had read about chia pudding but had never had a chance to try it. It was all lovely.

Not too busy and near a lot of sites, this cafe has good hot drinks and baked goods. We didn't get the sandwiches or soup but they looked good. I liked the atmosphere as well.

My oasis of tranquility in any city (where they have an outpost), I love this organic, healthy coffee shop, bakery & restaurant. Super service; relaxed environment in which to work, read or socialise; and an even broader menu of healthy, home made foods than ever before.

A breath of fresh air after Hotel lobby breakfasts and Starbucks. Super friendly personnel and very nice breakfast options Had the omelet with a side of bacon and it was spot on. Cappuccino was to my liking too. Location is good between convention center and Independence Hall.

Loved the menu and the presentation of the food, even the way the coffee was served. Quaint setting. The service was not fantastic, but I felt like our server was probably just having an off day. I would definitely come here again.

Had no idea this is part of a large chain until writing this review. I am very impressed that a chain can produce such a high level of "individuality'. I really felt as though I was in a little corner of France. The continental breakfast was very good, probably one of the best baguettes I've had outside of France. Service is friendly, efficient, and they certainly don't rush you out the door. All very relaxing. Would like to try this for lunch or dinner.

Good place for breakfast and lunch. Service is good and food enjoyable. The price totally acceptable

We had breakfast at Le Pain Quotidian and liked it so much, we went back a second time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the food delicious and the service excellent. There are many healthy options for breakfast.

Wonderful little restaurant. Small but interesting menu. Mostly salads and sandwiches. Nice service. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Nice cozy place serving fresh food. The service is very friendly. Great quiche Lorain and hot chocolate! ) overall a great value. I guess I was lucky to visit when it was not too crowded.

Cappuccino was excellent. Also had a croissant which was good, although not the best/flakiest I’ve ever had. Would recommend for a quick takeaway breakfast, plus they also have plenty of seating.

Another European inspiration found in Philadelphia, again something that recalls French bakeries. Honestly, despite the certainly fresh produce and an alternative and light cuisine to the American classics, the place did not enter my heart. Dishes a bit messy in an attempt to make a gourmet presentation but, above all, extremely slow service despite the fact that the place was empty given the time. Now, I understand that assembling everything at the moment takes time and attention, but how will they handle it with all the seats occupied? We waited an eternity for what were, in fact, sandwiches and toast. Still good my avocado toast, great coffee.

Last time I reviewed this upmarket cafe was a year ago and how the standards have dropped since. The oatmeal with fruit came out with moldy berries, the ham and gruyer sandwich was served with barely warm toast, which was soggy and the entire sandwich was tastless. The side salad had wilted. The server was chewing gum and talling on his cell phone and the manager was clearly having social time with the staff. What a shame, this used to be so much better. Simply bad management and lack of care from the owners who are probably a venture capital group.

The interior looks like the cafeteria at summer camp -- rows or benches of knotty pine bare wooden tables with hard wooden seats. Pleasant music plays, often in French. My server Kara was pleasant and attentive. The menu is a problem, to me: an odd construct of lite-bites, vegan, open face, Croquet Monsieur, etc. Nothing you really want to hunker down on for dinner. The coffee was hot and fresh. The pea soup was commercial, as in you've tasted it before at any other place. A club sandwich was ok, insubstantial, on a warm roll. Chicken quinoa soup was weak, rather disappointing. On balance it's okay. Not awful, not inexpensive. But you could do better, too.

We went to the Pain Quotidien to enjoy lunch outdoors on an unusually warm day in December. We sat at an outside table and waited over 5 minutes for a server to approach the table. Strange, as it was not busy and we counted at least 4 servers through the window. Once the server approached the table we ordered a Bloody Mary, which was recommended, and a glass of wine. We waited another 10-15 minutes when the server dropped off 2 Bloody Marys. Although the server was quick to correct the mistake we found ourselves 20-25 minutes into our lunch hour and left without daring to take the time to order food. As this is a neighborhood spot we will try it again hoping for improved service.

Le Pain is one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast. Always good and a cute restaurant. The staff was very nice!

I’ve tried to eat here twice and both times were ignored for a long time. When we finally got a waiter he was so rude and impatient that we walked out despite being hungry and wanting to eat there. There are too many other good options close by to settle for being treated rudely.

The food is fresh and delicious (incredible omelette, thank you). The service was impeccable and the atmosphere and location are perfect. It’s an excellent value for what you get. Planning to return tomorrow.

After tests and tests and more tests in the city due to my husband's health; it's great to get good healthy food afterwards. Great portions good price & nice atmosphere I even stop in when I wait for his pet scan to complete and have hours to spare

The Cappuccino was great as well as the Belgian Hot Chocolate. Perfect with a side of Super Seed Bread and Avocado Mash. Who could ask for more. We then were fortified to enjoy the nearby historical sites. Especially the Ben Franklin home and printing press that was in action.

I went in thinking that we could grab some tasty baked goods and a coffee, but it was a seated place. The menu most of the breakfast options, but on the more expensive side. My ham and cheese croissant was tasty with the Gruyere, but I had to decline the waiter's suggestion for a larger sandwich, mostly because I wasn't that hungry. Seemed like a nice place to meet up with friends over coffee, especially if in the hospital-area.

Smoked salmon with light cheese and lightly boiled egg. Great pain de campagne. Good orange juice and good coffee.

Wonderful lunch restaurant for great fresh food. They have awesome rustic bread and fruit spreads to accompany them. The dessert and coffee is good too. They even serve wine and beer. Right near Wills Eye Hospital it's a great place to fall into. I would absolutely go again.

The service was a bit slow and inefficient; tables sat uncleaned for almost our entire time spent. The food was well cooked and prepared, but not a place to go if you're hungry as the portions are small by American standards. It's the place you go when you want more of a snack than a meal. A variety of spreads are placed on tables for tasting; however, they do not offer bread in order to try them. We had to wait until my chili came, which had a couple pieces of bread on the side. That's not a good way to promote the sale of the items. I would have been greatly disappointed had I purchased an item taste unknown. The baked items are a bit run of the mill and those that weren't were grossly epxensive for what they were. I won't say it's a bad place, but it's not somewhere I'd insist on going to.

With such an extensive and creative menu that offers seasonal specialties & vegan choices as well - it's hard to decide what to order & whether to focus on breakfast, brunch or lunch! So after careful consideration I settled (happily) on one of several omelet combos (tomato with big chunks of colorful fresh avocado), served with a generous pile of fresh green salad & two large slices of crusty bread. Call me picky, however, but there can be a fine line between attentive & intrusive service.

The advantage of seeing Drs in a city is a find like this. Great atmosphere, service & food, healthy for you too! Avocado tomato omelette was excellent. Served with a side salad & toast.I also love the mini coffee pots & handle less cups.

Until recently they played classical music. The place stood out from others as having a European ambience. Now they have switched over to light pop / jazz like everyone else. What a pity. Staff generally good and friendly (sometimes short staffed). Prices are too high for what you get. Bathrooms need better maintenance. Now that they have dropped the classical music I won't be going back much. There are alternatives.

Went there for lunch with friends for a semi-business meeting. Wanted space for 8 people and got seating on a very large table immediately. The service was truly excellent, the young lady was exceptionally well organized taking orders form 8 people (and others) and making sure the order was perfectly executed. They have extended breakfast hours and I ordered from the breakfast menu while others ordered from breakfast and lunch menus. The food was very well prepared and well presented and smelled and tasted awesome. Everything was truly fresh- it showed and tasted that way. The prices were very reasonable. The cheques were all perfectly executed and payments collected. All in all an A+ experience. Great job Le Pain Quotidien. Merci!!

We stopped into this cafe to grab a quick lunch. This was our first trip to Philadelphia and while enjoying the sights of the district was stopped in to the cafe. It's a grand location to people watch and the food is excellent. One particular favorite was the spinach mushroom quiche with a simple, yet delicious salad. The atmosphere is relaxing and the coffee a treat. The servers were fantastic and genuinely friendly. Well worth the price, the time and the experience.

I was overly impressed with everything - the coffee was rich and full bodied, the servers were friendly and attentive, the food was exceptional, and the atmosphere was country-kitchen warm.

This is for the location at 15th n Walnut. Horrible service; slow, lazy, rude. The cashier got the order wrong three times and it was still wrong once brought back to the office. Small portions, bland flavors, discriminatory service to cis people—we saw that. Would never go back.

I expected to walk into the aroma of buttery croissants or at the very least, freshly roasted coffee but that didn't happen. The coffee was decent and but the pastries are hit or miss.

Waffle was great. Kids could enjoy a good and healthy meal in th middle of the day.Service could be better.

Visited on Saturday for breakfast with two kids. We liked atmosphere. Food menu was very nice if slightly pricy or really pricy for some items. My husband had omelet for 14$ and mine was two eggs and half avocado with toast for 12$. We sit ourselves at the communal table because rest was taken or still not clean but It took us an hour for “quick” breakfast. Waiting stuff was cleaning and making coffee on top of normal. Restaurant was full of customers. Our waitress was one of 3 people who were serving. She continuously was apologizing and trying to get people their drinks. The family across waited on their check for 30 minutes. With one barista and one person to help clean could way better experience.

Went there with my parents. My mum had a pot of fresh mint, my dad a coffee and I had my first pumpkin spice latte, everything was good. Place is nice and very nicely decorated for fall! Pumpkins and squash everywhere, fake leaves, leaves on pillows etc, very cozy atmosphere! The staff is very nice. We took a cookie, it was absolutely huge (it was ok for 3 people!), tasted homemade. We haven't tried the food though. Went back there last Saturday for a meetup. We were about 15 I think. The waiters seemed to be overwhelmed. They did not clean the tables from the previous customers, forgot some things from the order etc. they were still super friendly though but I did not get why they were so overwhelmed as they were probably 20-25 people max in the coffee. It’s a nice place super well decorated though so I’ll be back

Once a year I visit this restaurant after a visit to Wills Eye Hospital. I come back every year for the excellent lattes and an interesting breakfast item. The food is healthy, fresh and different. The place is open, has wonderful and calming music and is very clean. My waitress, Mary A, was prompt and made a suggestion to try their chia pudding. Wow. Soooo good.

Nice to be able to stop for sandwich that is made fresh with whole natural ingredients. Big portions, solid Flavors, not cheap but reasonable.

We came into the city for an appointment and wanted to grab a quick lunch. My two teenage sons were with us and they were hungry. After asking the waitress if we could be out in 45 minutes, we ordered. Everything went smoothly - there was something for each of our tastes - soup, chili, waffles and omelet. The food was healthy and delicious. The only thing I would suggest is to order a side with your waffle if you are really hungry because one was not quite enough for my teenage son. It was, however, excellent. We'll be back.

This is a great place for a special lunch. It can be pricy but the service is top notch. The quality of ingredients is superb. Always fresh and delicious. The bread is out of this world!! Desserts and coffee are must try as well.

On my recent trip to Philly, enjoyed it so much that i had breakfast and lunch in this place in the same day. Fresh organic food uniquely prepared and presented. I loved my smoked salmon omlet, and turmeric coconut latte was intriguing, but a bit soupy. Great communal atmosphere with large work tables , you can spend the whole day here studying and enjoying great food. A bit pricey, but worth it.

Organicbreads are great and service is on par with the offerings. Also macaroons are something special.

We just happened upon this place while in Philly. We saw the special for Monday & decided to go with it. We sat at the high-top table & ordered 2 of the avocado toast. They were REALLY good AND really filling!! Great place to go for lunch!!

Delicious sandwiches! We came here for lunch on a Friday. The servers were great - attentive but not rushing you. The chicken and mozzarella melt was delicious, just the right amount of cheese to chicken and bread. My daughter had an egg bowl that was generously sized and tasty. The lemon tart was delicious. The decor is cute and homey. We’ll be back!

We stopped at Le Pain Quotidien to rest a bit and to surf. Unfortunately, the internet did not work even after the staff reset the internet server a few times. We ordered a waffle ($5.50), a fruit salad ($6.95), an iced latte ($4.50) and sparkling water ($3.50). Food was fine but nothing special. It's a chain restaurant with communal dining concept with long, wooden tables. Service was friendly. Bill with tax and tip came to about $27.00.

They have many things you will want to try, but I never thought I would have little Dutch pancakes as good as theirs outside of Holland.

My adult daughters and I are here for a weekend and we’re looking for a healthy, filling breakfast. Look no further! All food is fresh, healthy, tasty, and served in a relaxing atmosphere. Try anything on the menu and it’s delicious!

If you're looking for a quick bite on your way to a show at the Walnut Street Theater, this is a good option. Food is decent, but not overwhelming. My husband's soup was served cold and our waitress seemed in a mood.

Every time I am in the neighborhood, I choose this restaurant for breakfast or lunch. The food is fresh, the coffee is delicious and the speculoos spread is to die for.

It's tough to find a good breakfast place when you arrive in a new town. We were in Philadelphia to visit friends and stayed in the Omni Hotel on Independence Square. In the morning, we wanted to go out for breakfast and found this Le Pain Quotidien. We found the food to be very good, especially the omelets. Try the ham and Gruyere. One day I tried a tartine but did not like it as much as the omelets. Service was good - no rush to get you out of the place. And they have free WiFi. Prices are moderate to moderate+. I'd definitely recommend it as a place for breakfast if you're in the area.

This is our go to place when we visit Walnut Street Theater. They have some wonderful lite options, soups are wonderful and my wife loves the various breads. Actually never had a bad meal here.

We stopped here for breakfast on our way to the historic area from our hotel in City Central. The staff was friendly and helpful. (They even brought a complementary chocolate muffin for the one of the four kids who's meal wasn't ready when the other 3 kids meals were.) The food was delicious. There were options for our fussy children (mini-pancakes) as well as the adults (baked scrambled eggs with feta, tomato, and avocado.) And the Chai Latte was AMAZING. The kids liked it so much they asked if we could return the following morning. I highly recommend it.

We stopped here for a bite to eat at around 11am. As it was the weekend we had a choice of both breakfast and lunch menues. Two of our party chose the eggs but since they are big guys they would have gone away a bit hungry if the ladies had not shared our lunches. The croque monsieur was excellent and the trio of mustard was an interesting touch. The pad thai vegetarian salad was excellent with a nice sesame based vinaigrette. The coffee was excellent, but the coffee cups were chipped and in one case seemed a bit dirty so we had it cleaned. Otherwise the atmosphere is very pleasant and the service was excellent.

Comprehensive menu with daily special. Soups, salads, fruit drinks. The tomato soup (hot) was good. The Frittata was fair. Avocado toast, good. Service is cheerful. dining room is clean and attractive. Convenient to Wills Eye Clinic.

Just the jam is worth going to this bright and airy morning spot . It was my first time in Philly and the people that worked there where a lot of help . Prices are decent . The food was delicious . I had perfectly poached eggs and a basket of different breads . Then THAT jam ❤️. Btw ... The coffee was pretty darn good too .

The food is on average and but the service is very bad must say unprofessional : where is the manager?! No improvements over the time

We stayed at the Wyndham and this restaurant was quite a walk away. but worth the energy to get there. Interesting menu with lots of fish and meat entrees. The menu is kinda a mix of breakfast, lunch and dinner all in one. My choice was the smoked salmon on toast, my son had the salmon omelette and my husband had the ham and cheese omelette. The food came out pretty fast. Waitress Mary was really great, helping us with the menu and chatting with us about Phili. The food was all really good and the breads that came out with the meals were all homemade. The restaurant is wide open so can get pretty noisy.

I would have given this restaurant a 5-star review but for the prices charged, the portions are rather small. That won't keep me from going back though - too many things on the menu I still want to sample! One disappointment was that the menu says wine and beer are available. I called ahead of time to confirm this and was told yes, they serve alcohol all day. When we went shortly after that, we found that they were totally out of any kind of white wine. Okay, how about rose? Nope, all out. Okay, how about sparking? Nope, none of that either - only red wine. (Note that all of the things I asked for were on the menu that day.) I had the Quiche Lorraine which came with a small side salad, pre-dressed. The quiche was wonderful, no critique on that. The salad was overdressed, but the greens were very fresh and I liked the other ingredients too. Overall, a very good first visit. Next time I'm thinking about going, I'll call ahead and be specific when I asked to make sure that there's plenty of white wine still available!

Go here to enjoy an experience of different foods Nice and clean. In a rustic setting. The service was somewhat slow, considering we visited after the lunch busy period The soup was enjoyable, it was served with one piece of very nice home cooked bread, but we had to request additional bread. Our experience was over shadowed by having to wait a long time for our bill. Some of the staff did not seem very happy in their environment. The enjoyment of the food was lost in the manner of other services

Great ambience! Food was delicious- generous portions and presentation great. Also did not wait long. I would highly recommend you stop in for breakfast brunch or lunch!

Very nice place. Unusual seating as they have a giant farmhouse type of table in the center of the room. There are two and four tops around it. You can sit wherever. Excellent service. Food is delicious, I had a tomato omelette and it was fabulous. Instead of fried potatoes, it came with a lovely salad. The bread was wonderful and served with pots of jam instead of those stupid little packets of high fructose. It is pricey.

We were planning a quick snack before a show at the Walnut St Theater at a "belgian waffle" restaurant that we found closed when we got to the city. We walked to the next block and found Le Pain Quotidien. It was fate. We only had sweets but would definitely go back for more. The staff were all very friendly and the coffee and desserts were divine! The best iced coffee I've had.

There is both a line for ordering out and a sit-down space with table service. We sat down for breakfast. The food was delicious. The cold brew coffee was a much lighter roast than at most places and it wasn't great. The staff were all very friendly.

We visited philly for a weekend trip to explore independence hall and all the history in Philadelphia Shaun the concierge at the rodeway inn reccomended Le Pain as it was very close to many attractions. The breakfast we had here was very decadent and very reasonably priced. Had an amazing Kale salad, never thought a kale salad could be so flavorable very happy with this establishment. def worth a visit

Place was very noisy Sandwich was not good We were jammed in next to another couple Service was slow Cucumber mint tea weird

My son and I stopped in for a late lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the quiche lorraine which was delicious and light accompanied by a good salad with a tasty dressing. My son had a sandwich which he really enjoyed. It also came with a salad. The sandwich came with ham and a very good spread of mustard with a hint of good black olives. The staff was attentive, polite and welcoming and answered all of our questions about the menu. Should we be in that area again we will return.

This Le Pain, as well as others (it's a chain) has a nice, clean, earthy ambiance with good service, The waitstaff is very friendly, accommodating, and reliable and I have never had a bad meal here. The cost is a bit on the high side for the portions but I still return as the food is very consistent. It is a good place to go to eat alone or with others. Nice large windows all around.

The atmosphere is cozy and the food is perfect. On a cool dreary day this is the place for food that will warm your soul. Everything from the gazpacho, to warm cider, to house salads and quinoa cakes was just yummy. We also tried the vegan scone as well as a custardy fruity vegan desert which was ever so good. I wish they had this place in Boston. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

I have been there several times in the past and never thought I was gouged but either the prices went up or I was not paying attention in the past. The food is very good but the portions are extremely small. A cup of chili, small salad and two half pieces of toast is over $15. I would not mind paying the prices if I have gotten more but I left starving. The bill for two lunches along with one cup of coffee was $46. I have eaten food just as good in New York and Paris for less and did not leave starving. Needless to say the place was half full for a Fraday lunch.

We went with friends to PA for Love Half Marathon! We stopped at this restaurant and it was a great choice! Very good food (most of the group tried egg sandwiches), very nice location. Close parking, also street parking!

I tried two Le Pains -- at 8th & Walnut and at 14th and Walnut. Both were excellent, featuring the standard menu I have seen in New York and Washington. Familiar and welcome surroundings.

I Love their fresh croissants, but this happened to me twice, I leave a tip if I'm being waited on at a table, but for a worker that just is picking up a $2,75 roll from a basket and places it in a bag and hands it over to me over the counter to me, this does not warrant any tip every time, when I use my card a electronic screen pops up and it has "NO TIP--or TIP, I hit NO tip but an extra dollar still comes off my card, I ask and they look at the receipt and they say I left a dollar tip, I know well that I always hit no tip because their items are expensive and I'm only being handed a roll in a bag, not table service, which if I was being served at a table I would tip generously, Not that I'm worried about $1.00, but if this keeps happening, it's a glitch at their electronic register system I don't want to pay $5.75 for one small roll every time, other than that it's a nice place and great staff.

Meager salad with some warm cheese, ham and cheese sandwich, 2 ice teas - almost 50 bucks. Went down the street for an additional supplemental and far more satisfying sandwich. Waiter unfriendly and stone face. Men's bathroom filthy with used toilet paper rolls on floor, dirt everywhere including wall - looked chronic. Avoid

We've long been fans of this brand. The styling and informal/communal seating works for us and the food is natural and delicious. We just popped in and felt like one of the locals. Delicious veggie chili and an open style coronation chicken "sandwich" - perfect. Highly recommended.

I ate an early lunch here in December 2021. I had an open-faced avocado toast sandwich, orange juice and a brownie. The food and service were excellent.

Had lunch outside on a recent Saturday afternoon. The Inside looked nice too, but the weather was perfect for outside dining. The chicken curry sandwich was sooo good. And the macaroon for dessert was the best.

We had a sit down midday meal. The server was fine and polite and ultimately apologized for the time it took to get food BUT it shouldn’t take a kitchen 45 minutes to serve basic food. And it came out one plate at a time.

My brother recommended that my husband and I eat there since we would be nearby all day. Our breakfast server Malika made the whole experience so delightful that we went back for lunch! The food was amazing but Malika's friendly warmth and care were even better. Here's hoping the company rewards its stellar staff for uplifting customers the way she does. We will definitely be back for the food AND the service.

I've been to several Pain Quotidien around the globe. Bread is always freshly baked, coffee is good, sandwiches and meals are ok. This spot here in Philly has the worst, but worst, service ever! Everything else is fine.

For me it was overpriced & the avocado & turkey sandwich didn't have much turkey. The server was very good & attentive.

Breakfast. Tea served in a small bowl or is that cup without a handle? Yoghurt and granola in a tall glass so ingredients fall out as soon as you touch them with the spoon. Ridiculous place
An upscale Panera Bread
The good points. This location is really close to Independence Hall and this area of Walnut Street has quite a few historic sites and buildings. It has both indoor and outside seating. The interior is hip, distressed chic with the upgrades made to blend in with the original architecture. Found it very interesting. The middle of the dining area has a huge, communal dining table which was unique. The menu is rather interesting with noted fresh and organic offerings. The hazelnut latte was very good. There was a small group of young folks playing a board game at the communal table. I applaud the restaurant for allowing such freedom. Nobody made a stink about it, and it was obvious the group was having fun. Now the bad points. We were there for brunch on a Sunday. Service was rather slow and non-attentive. We had minestrone soup and an open faced Parisian ham and gruyere sandwich. The sandwich came with 3 different mustards that were easily fit in a container the size of a ketchup lid. The waiter never bothered to tell us what the mustards were. Overall, the food quality was good, but overpriced. This is not a cheap eats place. The bowl of soup, sandwich, and latte were $23.97 before tip. For the price, I felt the service could have been better. Seemed like the staff in general were not very enthusiastic. There are 2 large unisex restrooms which I do not care for. If you are visiting the history of Philly and want something different, this would be a good place unless money is an issue. Not bad for a chain, and it reminded us of a more classy version of Panera Bread.
