A very tasty lamb shank..delightful choice. Everyone enjoyed the food especially the fish but not the noisiness..hard to talk.

Not exactly the same tasting food you’d actually get in France, but for the valley joint, very respectable and tasty. Fast and pleasant service, attentive staff and very good meal options.

Our group of four met for an early dinner on a weekday evening. The service was mediocre, at best, even as the dining room was empty when we arrived and at best a third-filled on our departure. Although the menu looks interesting, our meals were not. The onion soup was tasteless, missing the true flavors of a well-crafted (and simmered) beef stock. The filet my wife shared with her daughter was overcooked: rather than slicing the steak in half after cooking, the kitchen butterflied the meat before putting it on the grill, resulting in an med-well rather than a med-rare steak. My steak au poivre entree lacked a true "au poivre" flavor. In sum, there are better choices on Ventura Blvd (for example, Mistral).

This is our favorite neighborhood 'French' cafe. The food is always excellent and has a Moroccan bent. If you go early, it's quiet and the service is excellent.

My husband and I tried Le Petit on the recommendation of a friend. We were pleasantly surprised! We had tried various local French restaurants and were looking forward to a new place. The interior was cozy (not a code word for small). Too bad the bar was not a sit down bar. Our waiter was poised and professional, though could have loosened up a little. The bread was warm and came with some tasty spreads. Thank you for the softened butter! My appetizer of mussels was excellent, bathed in a rich wine sauce. I also enjoyed the crispy duck. It had not a hint of gaminess and had a lovely grand marnier flavor. My husband also had good things to say about his chicken piccata. We will definitely return to try some other dishes.

We have been here multiple times and I never give an excellent review because I havent been to a restaurant that was outstanding in all ways. This one was. There were crowds of people and we had to wait beyond our reservation time, but the staff kept us informed about our table. Each one of us at the table raved about our food, each dish was excellent. The service was excellent. The dessert was wonderful. Parking is a problem so you will have to leav eyour car for valet parking but it is $4.

This is a small restaurant full of character with excellent, full, wonderful atmosphere and great services, highly recommended, really one of a kind

Great experience, excellent service, wonderful wine list, not over the top prices for French. Varied menu, loved the atmosphere. Bring your date and dress up or comfy and remove yourself from canned restaurant style. Very well appointed, just classy enough to feel pampered but not stuffy. Food was really pretty good, not SUPERB but good enough to go back. Loved the bread, pear salad and fish.

This place was well themed to being a little French restaurant, which served perfectly for a birthday dinner with my girlfriend. The food was well portioned and delicious, and I must give a special recommendation for the seafood paella. They did not skimp at all on the seafood, which included mussles, scallops, shrimp, and calamari, plus, the overall amount of food was such that I had a whole other meal of delicious leftovers for the next day. (And that's saying a lot, because I am a guy with a big appetite). The baked brie appetizer was also top notch. For dessert, because of the occasion, they brought out a chocolate souflee with a lit candle on it. The souflee was delectable but amazingly rich, such that between the two of us we could not even finish the tiny dessert. The dessert tray comes weith fresh whipped cream, white chocolate and dark chocolate dipping sauces, and vanilla ice cream. Quite a spread. A great, solid option in Studio City

Le Petite restaurant has been their for many years. Its a nice "Petite" place for a wonderful dinner, with friends. Good food and drink, with a French influence.

This is also another local spot that our family has enjoyed for many years, including our children even when they were very young. They LOVED the Steak Au Poivre, the roast chicken with thin crispy fries, and of course the chocolate soufflé. Me, give me the French pear salad or the endive salad - both are enough for a light main course, and back when I ate shellfish, the mussels are something (I agree with other reviewers) special and delicious. I am also a fan of their onion soup and fish dishes. The staff is attentive and friendly, they have lots of good wine to pour, the decor is pleasant and cozy. The only complaint we've ever had was a mixup, apparently, on ordering the soufflé - although we ordered it with our main course in advance, we still had to wait a long, long time for it. But in many years this only happened once - my recommendation would be just to confirm with the waiter that the order for dessert was placed, if time is an issue at all.

This is a terrific restaurant with a good menu and terrific staff. It's the place we go to, when we want a stress free dinner and we don't feel like cooking. No reservations necessary unless you have a large party.

If you are craving basic French bistro food and want it well executed and not overpriced, come here. Atmosphere varies depending where you are seated but is fine throughout. Wine list is not extensive but they do have real glassware if you bring or order something worthy (no proper decanting service though). Service is generally attentive.

A lot of the LA restaurants are trendy/glitzy places and that is great. My wife and I were interested in something more traditional and loved Le Petit. Very professional staff with great food selections. I have the steak and it was great and my wife had a fish dinner which she really enjoyed.

Since we are French we are used to French restaurant and French food no tried several ones in the area and Le Petit Restaurant is the one we preferred. The food was very good and compare to many others the meals have all very different and unique tastes. For sure we recommend and we'll go back soon!

This place has been in the area for ages and has consistently served good French food. Great value for the quality of food served.

For all I was reading that inspired my visit I was expecting something rather special. It was a quiet midweek evening with perhaps 25% of the tables occupied. I waited for several minutes to be greeted and sat. Tables are fairly crammed together with little space in between. This is not necessarily a bad thing except. However there were others seated nearby who were loud and insensitive to the other diners sitting in the room. I started with a good green salad with fruit and nuts. My filet mignon ordered rare came well done and was returned for replacement. The second attempt was delivered medium! I realized the reason for this was probably to mask the poor quality of the meat. It was dry and flavorless, probably the worst steak I have had in years. The waiter 'Peter' was gracious enough and provided attentive service although there was in general an atmosphere of disinterested staff who were seemed to be more engaged with each other than the customers. I was very disappointed and will most likely not return.

We had a great evening - good waiter, tasty food, a nice ambience. If we are ever back in this area we would definitely go back.

This was a real find in Sherman Oaks. The entire experience, from the ambiance, the service, the food, was all you could expect outside of France. The restaurant was small and intimate, and offered valet parking. Not too bad on the wallet either.

My wife and I go to France often. We chose Le Petit for dinner the other night because ti has been a while since we had an authentic French meal. We have been to the adjacent The Great Greek a number of times, but never to Le Petit. I am glad that we went. I would rate the experience as good but not great. The restaurant has been around for a long time, and it appeared that there were a lot of regulars there. Our waiter was courteous and efficient. The wine list is smallish but well designed with a mixture of French and California wines with the occasional Italian or Argentinian. We ordered a very nice Pouilly-Fuisse that complimented our meals very nicely. It was served at a perfect temperature in nice glassware. We chose to order for the long special menu - I had seafood paella (very good, but I guess not very French, unless you count extreme southwestern France); she had blackened salmon (again . . . ). Both dishes were well prepared and very good. We started with a share endive salad. Now we could have ordered something more French, as there were a number of offerings that would have filled that bill. But we were happy with our meal. The small restaurant has a smaller front porch that is enclosed and was much warmer than the inside dining area where we ate. The room was very loud and we often had to strain to hear each other during dinner. Again - a good but not a great experience.

I've been to France many times and this feels like a small bistro on the Left Bank. The pomme frites are excellent and the roasted chicken is a great, as are the lamb chops. The wine list is appropriately priced and the deserts are excellent. A lovely dinner for two with a glass of wine can be had for 60 dollars.

Our son recently moved into the Sherman Oaks area when we saw this little treasure of a restaurant. The inside is very "French" feeling. We had a reservation, had a problem with one of our party being stuck in traffic. Called in to see if our arriving 15 minutes late would be an issue and they were most accomodating. We were seated immediately in a lovely booth. Our waiter was very professional without being stuffy, very knowledgeable and helpful. Some of our order included the mussels, eggplant tart, brie, lobster bisque and Crispy Duck. All were absolutely wonderful. Will look forward to returning.

My son, daughter-in-law and my granddaughter went to Le Petit for my granddaughter's 18th birthday. It was crowded for a Sunday evening but we were seated right on time. I ordered the Caesar salad, which was quite good. The bread is excellent! For my entrée, I chose the Seafood Paella du Bistro and I was not disappointed. It was very good. A cappuccino and the cheese platter finished out my meal. The noise level was on the medium to high side, but tolerable. I will be back.

This is a place I will definitely go back to: the ambience was lively and fun, very reminiscent of restaurants back in Europe. The service was excellent, without being stuffy as it is in the west side, and the food was superb. I had the night special, potato-crusted salmon, that made me a new salmon-addict (I usually eat beef). Another plus size is that I forgot my credit card there after dinner. The day after the manager was able to locate my phone number, call me to let me know they had it, and they agreed to send it to me by mail because I live far, which I thought was very kind. Thank you so much. I will definitely be back for dinner soon!!

The restaurant is really not that small (don't let the name fool you) but, rather, "comfy". Food is consistently good and service is always excellent. You can sit and talk as long as you want, which makes it great for business lunches.

The best dishes here are the meats, so this recommendation is for carnivores. Delicious: order the veal marsala. The filet mignon is also very good. It's pricey, but so is every decent restaurant in LA. Great service, great wine list, nice atmosphere, never seen it too crowded, great date place. BUT the most important thing to do at Le Petit is ordering the chocolate souffle. It's very small, but they give you these adorable little dishes with different sauces to go with it and it is the best chocolate souffle I've ever had (I order this whenever I see it on a menu without fail, so please, take my word for it and leave room for dessert).

An enjoyable evening meal with many choices to include chicken, fish dishes, meats, salads and shellfish all prepared in typical French with sauces and good comfort food. Reliable and reasonably priced but very busy now on the weekends so reservations a must. They have valet parking for a fixed $6.00

Very cozy with French decor, although none of the waiters are French. I always go on a Monday night with my husband when we feel like mussels and a nice Pinot Noir. I also love their eggplant appetizer. Also, for lobster lovers, Monday nights they have a 20 special.

good date place. good food.

First it is 20 to 25% less expensive than Mistral which is Just a few blocks down the street; and the premier French Bistro in Valley. The interior has been redone and is causal elegant. The tables are very compact for us big guys but - OH that is very French. Corkage was $10 and very well presented, as we decanted a fine St Emillion. Salads were perfect and served cold. The Duck was large portion, well done, crisp and presented on the bone - sweet. The Frensh can serve it very rare and that is not to our taste. The steak and pomme frittes were perfect. Love the desserts, profittero rolls - going back on friday nights is a great idea. No need to valet park - street parking is fine. $50 to $60 per person all in. Service is crisp, so 20% is a good idea, especially if you bring your own wine. Great value here and after 20 years they finally have gotten it right.

Great food, lovely service, amazing prices. Just ask for a quiet table if you really want to talk. And certainly order the mussels.

We used to go to Pinot Bistro before they closed. Don't know why we never got to this French restaurant, but it's excellent. Corkage is only $10/bottle. Most of the diners brought there own wine which the staff was happy to open. I had the endive salad which was very good and the petit filet au poivre also just melt in your mought tender. The souffle take 15 minutes and comes out with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and custard(?) sauce. Again that was excellent. As a side note we asked if they make Coq au vin or Beef bourguignon. They do but it comes as a special. The waiter suggested that if we wanted it on say a Friday to call ahead earlier in the week to request it and they will try to accomodate it. We have yet to do this, but I thought it was a nice touch.

Parking is pretty tricky. Had to walk quite far. Got in the door where we felt looked over. Not one person said hello to us the whole time. One man was fiddling with closing the door? He then greeted the people in front of us, found them a table and we got a point and said "you're next" to which we replied we had a reservation. He brought us to our table and we we promptly received waters and bread for the table. This man also did not say hi and walked away. Our server came a short while later and also didn't say hello just pointed out that a few things were not on their menu that night. Felt like we were a nuisance. Overall the food was great, but the service or lack thereof, left a bad taste in our mouth. Likely would try somewhere else a bit friendlier next time

About as near to genuine French food and atmosphere as we've seen LA. Efficiently busy ,but the service was still attentive. Lobster special was great. Place was humming. Loved it.

I took a spry, 93-year-old friend there for her birthday on the way to the theater. She had been intending to check the place out for years. It was pretty quiet when we arrived at 6 PM, but definitely got noisier as our meal wore on. We were starving and ate an embarrassing amount of delicious bread and sweet cream butter and their 3 spreads (zucchini paste, hamachi, and hummus). She had the pear salad and I had the asparagus soup of the day as starters. Lobster crepes and the Atlantic salmon with dill sauce special for her. We ordered the chocolate souffle for dessert as the entrees were served. It was all scrumptious, although my crepes were not very hot. Could have been sitting there a bit while her salmon got to temperature, as it was cooked to perfection and quite hot. Attentive service, despite us not drinking any alcohol, which, I believe can be a deterrent to good service, as the bill is guaranteed to be lower without it. The only disappointment was the free birthday cake dessert - a dry, not-much-chocolate muffin with a single candle in it. If that's as good as it gets to celebrate, they shouldn't bother. Good thing we had ordered the souffle. It was delightfully rich for the birthday girl, who is a chocolate fan and not too gooey for me, which I don't like. As a local, her only regret is not having gone there sooner. It will be a stop for us on future theater nights.

We were looking for a French restaurant to celebrate my partner's birthday. The ambiance is very French - inside and out. They bring a basket of very good French bread with some hummus, olive tapenade and eggplant spread. I ordered the French onion soup and the seafood paella. The onion soup was mediocre. The paella was very good. My partner ordered the mussels which were very good and wanted the lamb shank but they were out of it already. He ordered the veal piccata instead. It was very salty perhaps because of the capers. They brought a nice little single serving chocolate cake for his b'day.

Came with a Sherman Oaks friend who eats here often. We were nicely treated. I really enjoyed the lamb shank with couscous and carrots, plentiful yet reasonably priced. The gazpacho special was excellent. My friend had an angelhair primavera pasta, which he liked. All three dishes are things I would not have expected at a French bistro--but they were very good. The place was busy, and my friend commented that it was the first time it felt noisy in all his visits. We found street parking, fairly easy and free on a Sunday.

Cute, french, okay service, good food but not as good as Bizou.

Teriffic, consistent French bistro fare. The pomme frites are always perfect... great menu selection. There are always terrific specials -- great fish, steaks and particularly the roast chicken. There is a lovely wine list and full bar. It's a great date spot.

Petit is a staple in my neighborhood - good food and good service. Check out their Lobster special. Very fairly priced! The eggplant appetizer tart is great. So is the harissa and houmus that comes with the bread.

Le Petit Restaurant is alway wonderful. My favorite is the mussels and the Lamb chops. The service is very attentive.

I thought that this would be a good place to treat some very generous friends to dinner, but everything proved to be mediocre, the French would be appalled that this is masquerading as a French restaurant, as it wouldn't last a week in France. French food is all about strong flavours, and, in this respect, it was lacking completely. Even a glass of Sauvignon Touraine, normally a sound choice, was disappointing, with none of the freshness normally found in a Sauvignon, instead just a dull, flat taste with no floral nose. Crab cakes were strangely rubbery and were the only crab cakes in America, I have had, that you could not detect any flavour of crab in, the omelette was similarly disappointing. For what we had the bill seem ridiculously high, including an 18% service charge. Perhaps, as the place was packed with people waiting for tables, eventually they will either improve or otherwise people will realise that it is a case of the King having no clothes.

Le Petit has one of the best lamb shanks anywhere. It has friendly service and a convivial atmosphere. A good value for French food and a nice place for any event--from romantic to family. Not at all fussy or pretentious. Just good food at a fair price.

My fiancé and I came here for dinner around 7:30 during the week. We ordered the baked Brie appetizer, lamb chops, white fish, and finished with the chocolate soufflé (which you need to order 20 minutes in advance!). We had a great evening and appreciated that they had set aside a sweet little corner booth for the two of us which had a great view of the interior of the restaurant, which does feel like something you’d see in Paris (and I’ve lived there!). My only note is that the servers were a bit clipped/curt with us, but I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. We will be back!

Although we had eaten at Le Petit a couple of times in the past, this was our first visit in several years -- and we were not disappointed. The setting is lovely with white tablecloths and a European feel. The service was attentive (but not overbearing) with all the staff (waiters, bussers, runners, etc.) all responsive to any requests. The regular plus specials' menu is quite extensive with offerings for a variety of interests. The four of us each had different selections (lamb, seafood, pasta, and chicken) and we all enjoyed. The portions were reasonable and while not an inexpensive restaurant, the value was quite good. The restaurant tends to skew somewhat older (we, in our mid-60s, were among the youngest people there), and yet it didn't feel uncomfortable.

We were watching the food network and they were making soufflé. We were originally going to go somewhere else but decided we were now in the mood for soufflé. We called the restaurant and were lucky to make a reservation for 8pm. That's what they had available. We arrived half an hour early and they seated us immediately which was amazing because the place was packed. The atmosphere was wonderful! We were relaxed and happy to be there. There seemed to be a lot of people celebrating birthdays. Including my twins that on the eve of their 21st birthday. At this restaurant you don't have a waiter, you have the entire staff making sure you are taken care of. We loved it. From the recommendations to the superb taste of food and the on point attention, this would be a restaurant I go back to over and over again!

I had been to Le Petit Restaurant a number of years ago and was not impressed with it then. Have just dined there again, I am still not impressed. Three of us ordered the roast chicken and frites, one ordered the potato crusted salmon. All three of the chicken breasts were dry and overcooked. The salmon was good, as were the frites. The Caesar salad says traditional on the menu, but it was not, nor was it very good. The pear salad was better. For dessert we had a chocolate soufflé, which was very good. Service was inattentive. If we wanted more water or anything else, we had to flag down our waiter or busboy. It will be a while before I dine here again.
2017 New Year's Eve celebration - not so much
Really nice people; an older crowd. It is a really cute bistro that I've been to many times before. And that's why I'm giving it 3 stars because it really deserved 2 stars last night. We had a 6 pm reservation to avoid a big crowd. We were seated in their heated- enclosed patio. It's a small area with small tables. Had it been fully occupied, it would've been noisy but was nice and cosy. Our male server was very nice and attentive. Our food, however, was very disappointing. The French Onion soup had almost no cheese, and was supposed to have Gruyere (that's why I ordered it). The server came back with a plate of melted cheese to add to it. It tasted like cheap white American or Mozzarella cheese. Told him about it and he immediately took it off the bill, but why would a French bistro serve a solid-gold-standard with cheap cheese? Next, I was served the $30 Chilean Sea bass - not good. It tasted fishy (and dry) and I've never had a CSBass that tasted fishy before. My guess....frozen. My partner had a good filet mignon that was ordered medium but came medium rare. It came with a tasty sauce and pomme frittes. Had I been there during a large group, maybe then I'd understand an error, but not this many.
