We have family that lives in the area and try to go here every chance we get. This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Philly. I lov the tie shrimp and pork fried rice. There is an appetizer with died clams that is delicious. I have always had wondrful meals here. The restaurant has modern decor that is more upscale than most other Vietnames restaurants in the area. The prices are fantastic especially for the quality of food.

From the first day this FAB opened..... Le Viet has consistently satisfied our craving for any foods Vietnamese. The owners created a contemporary styled environment with attention to details. Just to sip tea or a cocktail at the bar is esthetically pleasing. The menu is creative with many of the standard offerings plus chef specials. The BEST Tofu which I order every time! 58. Đậu Hũ Rang Muối (Salty) Deep fried tofu with chef special seasoning served on a bed of watercress. From spring rolls to dessert....everything is delicious!

With lunch specials for $4.95 that are high quality, fresh, and tasty, what's not to like? The decor is modern and clean, the wait staff is attentive but not overbearing and the food is always excellent. Whether it's a giant bowl of pho or a giant bowl of Bun Ga Nuong Cha Glo or the stir fried tofu or whatever you order, it will be perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked. A personal favorite is the crab fried rice and the green papaya salad. I actually hope no one reads this review as I like to keep them uncrowded!

An excellent and broad menu coupled with professional service and great food. Our group of four sampled a variety of dishes. All were well received. Spice levels adjustable as desired. Would definitely return.

Le Viet is a friendly, casual restaurant with delicious food. There is a large variety of choices from soups to noodle dishes to seafood to vegetarian dishes. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and can explain the ingredients and spices used in the food. The prices are reasonable for the large portions - plan for leftovers!

The restaurant is a good size and nicely decorated. The menu offers plenty of choice and is very reasonable. We went for lunch and enjoyed the spring rolls, followed by pho. Looking forward to return, on the next trip to Philadelphia.

We went for lunch on a Saturday.Tasty rolls and crepes for appetizers ,followed by delicious pho and stir fry noodle dishes.Pleasant surroundings and staff. One disappointing observation-if you are vegetarian there are no pho options for you.

neighborhood restaurant with a nice decor,we had reservations but it took a while to get us seated,no one up front? once seated the waiter took a long time take our order get drinks and bring the bill. The food though was very good the curry chicken in the clay pot was fantastic as was the other foods.

I tend to select Asian restaurants due to being gluten-free, but had never had Vietnamese food before. I went with a friend who made great suggestions: we shared two kind of rolls (I think they were spring rolls and summer rolls) and fabulous fish soup, it was all delicious! I'll be eating Vietnamese cuisine again! The decor was lovely and the lights on the ceiling were magical. I have an interest in architecture, and just loved the amazing, woven-looking bathroom doors! Sometimes I feel like it's a travesty to eat Vietnamese food anywhere but a dive, as it seems to be even more delicious in such places. However, since I first discovered Le viet a couple of years ago it has become my absolute go to place for everyday, for special events, for everything. Gorgeous and chic inside, the service just amazingly attentive and kind...but it is the food and the presentation thereof that is simply superb. Freshest pho redolent with five-spice, incredibly delicious - everything I have had has been first-rate. The most remarkable thing of all - the prices are wonderfully reasonable. I cannot recommend this restaurant at 11th and Washington more highly...the only reason I am not singling out specific dishes is that, truly, every dish I have enjoyed here has been truly delicious! An absolute MUST!!

This is another of several Vietnamese restaurants within two blocks about one mile south of center city. We have been going there occasionally for roughly 5 years. It is nice contemporary setting with a sport's bar feel at times. It is the most upscale of the choices. Has a large menu w the familiar choices and some others for more adventurous diners. Great spring rolls and summer rolls. Hot pots are tasty. Pho and the various rice, noodle and rice noodle dishes are uniformly good. Good choice.

We went with friends and found that it was just right in terms a nice, quiet place with a lovely low key atmosphere where we could have a leisurely dinner. The food was very good and well priced. The wine list was very limited, but everything else had innumerable choices. The service was a little disorganized but attentive. I would certainly return.

I love Le Viet! It is beautiful, comfortable, has great food and pleasant service. The weekend I tried a new menu dish, sliders made with steamed buns that you fold over like a sandwich. I had them with grilled beef and they come with julienned carrots and cucumbers and cilantro, I think, plus hoisin and sriracha sauces. It was a true taste explosion. An order comes with 2 sliders with a choice of beef, shrimp, chicken or pork for $5.95. Le Viet has been great ever since it opened and never disappoints.

At a friend's suggestion we organized a weeknight dinner here and were happy we did. It took awhile for each of us to make choices from the extensive menu; we all ordered something different, and each was very happy with his her own choice. We were all so pleased with our own dishes we didn't sample anyone's else, very unusual for this group! We shared appetizers and desserts and each of us had at least one drink, and the tab can to a reasonable $25.00 each including tip. We will put this on our list of places to return.

We were a big group and ordered a variety of dishes. From beef to vegetarian, everyone was happy. service was good; place was not noisy or crowded.

Entering this South Philadelphia restaurant is a decorator's dream come true. Fashioned from the original stand alone garage, the young Vietnamese owner, Rickey along with his artistic siblings created a warm and welcoming atmosphere to be enhanced only by the authentic and traditional plates. Begin your dining experience with a glass/bottle of wine, beer or cocktail from the full service bar. Then, after perusing the extensive menu select a shareable starter from the tasty appetizer/soup section, then move on through the variety of spicy & non spicy choices of meat, chicken, seafood & shellfish selections that will delightfully surprise your palate with amazing spices and flavors. The most sophisticated diner will be thrilled by the excellent preparation from the skilled kitchen staff who's creatively plated dishes are served by knowledgeable and friendly staff.

This review is based on several visits. Not once has dining here been a disappointment. Instead it's a feast for the eyes and taste buds. The plating is lovely and the flavors are wonderful. I am not an expert on authentic Vietnamese food, but whether it's authentic or not, it's delicious. They used to be a BYO but now they have a liquor license...just an FYI. This is a great place to have a fun, social night out. The service is friendly and down to Earth and the servers are helpful, particularly if you care to order something unfamiliar. The decor is great, too. Highly recommended are the wide array of appetizers as well as the various clay pot entrees. I really like it here and will definitely go again.

Five stars? Five bells? Five TripAdvisor circles? Why so effusive? Philly crtitic Greg LeBain liked this place which is part of the reason we went. This time Greg had it right. The room is sleek and modern. The food is really extraordinary, especially considering the price. We sampled a lot of stuff, leaving room to take food home and sample it again. We started with the "sliders"...a wrap with great fresh sliced vegtables and chicken, pork or beef. Barbara had the chicken with asparagus. Larry's small pieces of duck...bone in...were unbelievable...effused with ginger and some other terrific herb that I couldn't pinpoint. I had the sizzling short ribs and vegetables. The veges were the kind of vegetables you put in your New Year's sausage sandwiches...multi-colored peppers, onions, wonderful sauce. Oh...did I say the sliders came with a really good Hoisin sauce and a semi-spicey sweet sauce drizzled on the plate? And also, did I say some random guy at another table came up to me when my sizzling short ribs were served to ask about this dish? He knew he was being intrusive, but he just couldn't hel himself, which was very understandable under the circumstances. The Short Ribs looked so good...and the aroma! We also had the fried rice with Tiger Shrimp and Pork...a gift that has kept giving since we brought it home. And the three of us had Mojitas...I AM TELLING YOU TO DO THE MANGO MOJITA. I WOULD NOT STEER YOU WRONG. So with drinks and tons of food the tab for the three of us was about $89 bucks. You need to get to this place before it gets really discovered and the prices double. If i have to critique the place, I'd say the very young waitstaff, while very efficient, were kind of off-handed about the food itself. I don't think they realized the kind of gems that were coming out of the kitchen and unable or unwilling to talk very much about what they were serving.

This restaurant was just excellent and well worth the short ride from the city center. On our arrival we were given a warm welcome by John who was also our main waiter. He had a great personality, was charming and helped us order a spectacular meal! A few things we really loved because of their bursting flavors were the pineapple salad, the minced clams, the short ribs and the vermicelli noodles. There were five of us so we were afforded the luxury of having multiple appetizers-John told us this was how The Vietnamese eat. We still had five entrees as well one more delicious than the other. This was not the typical Vietnamese restaurant with golden Buddhas and live octopus swimming around in your soup. It was elegant and hip, a very nice dining room for what we considered to be a very inexpensive dinner coming to $141.00 for five entrees, five appetizers, three desserts, a few cocktails and two beers! We also had two other servers, Ivy and Kevin who were equally as delightful as John offering us big smiles and family recipes! A fantastic team of servers, delicious food and a very nice setting made Le Viet a most enjoyable dining experience in Philly

Been here twice, always a treat, good food every time. Making plans to return soon for a fun evening.

EVeryone in the family likes Vietnamese food, and my chef daughter suggested trying Le Viet. We were not disappointed. The restaurant is very near the corner of Washington Ave and 11th Street, and is on the east side of 11th. The atmosphere is modern and comfortable, and service was very good. We had several waiters, and they explained many of the dishes, and we were told that we could have special orders the way we wanted them, even though they were not on the menu. All the dishes were very good to excellent. Prices are relatively high, but are reasonable in light of the quality of the food. The fried calamari dish was particularly good.

We love Vietnamese food so we were happily surprised to find a restaurant in the area while visiting. We started by sharing the spring rolls, stuffed with fresh herbs and shrimp, accompanied with a peanut dipping sauce. For main dishes we had the grilled chicken with a nice fish soup as well as the stir fried chicken with lemon grass. They all were delicious. The restaurant had a clean, modern architecture with an open kitchen. And they carried the design through to the bathrooms with their intricately detailed, woven-looking doors. We found the prices to be reasonable and the service was attentive and professional. We'll definitely return on our next visit. Note: there is free street parking in front of the restaurant. Also, one of us is gluten free and the staff was very helpful in pointing out dishes that wouldn't be a problem.

A great place with generous portions of inventive dishes at fair prices. We were taken to Le Viet by some Philadelphians. Their promise of 'yummy dishes' didn't disappoint. Fried quail was tried and enjoyed as well as chicken with fried noodle dish, a beef dish and more. The waiter kindly checked if we could have a certain wine by the glass, not just the bottle. To be double-sure, he contacted the owner who gave a 'yes!'. A relaxing place to eat well supported by friendly, attentive staff.

Every time we are in Philadelphia we come to this Vietnamese restaurant. Modern decor with Dark wood, good bar, great food at very reasonable prices. The service is polite, the portions are big. This is a place for large groups so you can share many dishes. The flavors are very distinctive. We have never been disappointed. So we keep coming back every season.

Visited, based on a recommendation from an American friend. GREAT choice. We had a quick dinner - not really a full meal, but very nice atmosphere, good service, and the food was GREAT. We two shared a Beef Plate (not sure what it was called). The beef was marinated and cut into small cubes, and served with fried onions. I came with rice and a citrus sauce. The beef was VERY tender.

This is a new place, situated on the site of a former car reupholstery garage/workshop near the corner of 11th & Washington in Bella Vista (where South Philly hugs Center City). You would never guess its former life. Le Viet is gleaming clean, sleek, modern, and comfortable. There is a billboard outside Le Viet announcing a $5.95 lunch. Yes. A lunch of Pho for just under six dollars ...so long as you are okay with tap water as a beverage. When your bowl of Pho arrives, it's a large bowl, Pho is ostensibly a soup, but it's so much more than just a bowl of soup... containing as it does bean sprouts and other crunchy crisp Asian vegetables, rice vermicelli, tangy spicy broth, and a generous serving of grilled beef, pork or chicken or other. The grilled meats are nicely charred and flavorful. The Pho is a meal in itself. Try a dose of the fish sauce, or a drop of chili garlic sauce with it and you are one happy guy. Not only is it a six dollar lunch...it can also be a six dollar dinner as well. The Pho is on all menus. http://philadelphia.menupages.com/restaurants/le-viet/menu Le Viet has many authentic Vietnamese dishes to choose from, and the pricing is very attractive. On a subsequent dinner visit I had the Cha Giò, which are crispy hot spring rolls (2 for $2.95) followed by the Gà Hoac Vit Kho Gung which is a Duck Clay Pot: sizzling hot, filling, and very tasty ($10.95). On yet another outing I sampled the Soup Chua Ngot, a small bowl of light tomato broth, shrimp and straw mushrooms ($3.95) Not a BYOB. Le Viet has a large cocktail bar, frequented by many of the area's younger set. The cocktails are sort of odd, though. As a treat, I had this big blue thing in a stemmed glass with square rim. it looked like a glass of Windex® but was in fact a wild concoction of four or five types of liquor. Unlike a shot of window cleaner, it had no zing or sting. Next visit I just ordered a reliable bottle of good old Tsingtao Chinese beer. Le Viet is quickly becoming one of our go-to Asian restaurants within walking distance of home. Five out of Five for Le Viet!

the staff was attentive and the food was excellent. I never had Vietnamese food so it was a great experience. Also, it was a first time using chopsticks the whole meal!

The food! Quality and variety! The fish, tofu and beef chow fun dishes were especially notable, but everything (we also had appetizers and short ribs) was enjoyable. The fish dish was served in a very tangy orange sauce. The tofu was fried and salted, and had a hint of spiciness. The beef chow fun was a menu special the night our group dined there; it is primarily a noodle dish with some bean sprouts and a marinated beef. We found the prices quite reasonable; appetizers, drinks and the main courses totalled about $35/person with tax and tip.

WE had dinner reservations on Friday evening at 830. We were promptly greeted by a waiter who told us he was 50% Vietnamese and 50% American. He and the other waiters were very attentative. The ambience is sleek and sparse with up-ighted marble filled clear glass vases and artifical cherry blossoms sitting on a halfwall running the length of the large open space. Bright TV's over the bar competed with diners attention verses food. Our waiter was kind enough to allow us a taste of the Chardonnay-Fish Eye which we did not purchase. Wordered another. The wines were reasonably priced from $24 to $35 a bottle. The menu is quite extensive and would take 20 minutes to peruse carefully. I had an appetizer of Cha Gio ($2.95) which was enough sweetened gingered shredded papaya and jerk beef for two eople. YUM!. Next came the special slider with beef on a steamed roll and plum sauce. YMM. My main dish was a stir fry of beef and mixed vegatables. Sadly it was quite salty. Maybe too much MSG. I would not have known it from a Chinese dish. My partner had a very large bow of vermicelli topped with grilled pork, shrimp, calamari. He liked it but added lots of a spicy red liquid sitting on the table. At 945 PM we asked about desert and were told that we were to late. The kitchen closes at 10PM. However, after pleading, we were allowed to order a desert made of noodles stuffed with cream cheese and fruits and then quickluy deep friend. The juxtaposition of the hot crunchy shell and cool cheese mixture inside was wonderful.

Food is consistently delicious and a large selection. A neighborhood favorite. Full bar with drink specials included and big screen tvs.

If you are in the mood for Vietnamese food while in Philadelphia , this is the place I'd be inclined to recommend. The food is good , as is the service. The place is attractive and to my surprise , they make a good cocktail. It's also an interesting neighborhood. You can hit the Italian Market and go to the Vietnamese stores. There are also a lot of Mexican places in the area.

Innovative, deft touch, perfect palette in the kitchen. We rarely go back to the same place twice in one week but had to taste more. It doesn't matter what you order all dishes seem to be both balanced and impeccably seasoned. All visits are with multiple guests who exclaim "best in philadelphia and maybe best anywhere". Only holdback- mediocre bar selections and staff that prefers to watch sports then serve you. Easy to overlook with food this good.

From time to time, we take friends who are visiting us to this restaurant for an excellent, fairly priced meal. On this particular visit, I had my backpack with me with my personal computer and laptop inside. I placed it on the floor next to my seat and forgot it when we were leaving the restaurant. When I arrive home, some 30 minutes away, I realized I left it. I immediately called the restaurant, just after closing, and the person who answered said they had my bag. When I arrived, to my relief, all the contents were inside and I was so grateful for their honesty and professionalism. For sure, we will continue to go back, not just for the food but because the people working there demonstrated rare qualities of honesty and integrity which must permeate their restaurant family. Kudos to your team for your great food and culture of honesty which makes your food taste even better!!

Not sure why LeViet is never crowded when we go but they offer consistently excellent service, ambiance, and cuisine. From the crab fried rice to the vermicelli bowls to the lotus flower salad, everything we have ever had has been fantastic. It's a refreshing, clean, and modern alternative to the many good Vietnamese restaurants on Washington Ave and many dishes are priced below $10.

We bring scads of friends here just about every weekend. With a $5 lunch special menu, you just can't afford to NOT eat here! We've tried almost everything on this lunch menu and cannot not recommend everything. Personal faves are the crispy tofu with watercress in spicy sauce, grilled marinated pork noodle bowl (comes with lots of raw and crunchy veggies), the pho, the crab tomato soup (the bows for both soups are about 3x the size of your head), the beef chow fun (great smoky flavor), Singapore noodles and chicken or beef with sautéed green veggies. Almost everything comes with a side of rice and the servings are massive. Again, you can't afford to not eat here; at $5 it's got to be the best bargain in town! Parking is atrocious, however, so either take public transportation or you'll likely walk several blocks to get here. And, once you're done, you can mosey on over to the Italian market to pick up your fresh produce for the remainder of the week.

Just had my wife's 31st birthday party with about 21 people. The service was phenomenal. Had an absolute great time. The food was awesome as well. Having a Vietnamese wife, it can sometimes be tough to not have great food, and this place had a great atmosphere, superior customer service, and awesome food. Highly recommended.

Had dinner with friends here the other night. It was a convenient location for the three of us. We like Vietnamese cuisine so we chose Le Viet. The interior is really nice and spacious. The waiter and servers were excellent. The food, well..... When I go to a Vietnamese restaurant I always try their Pho to get a taste of their authenticity. I did the same here. I asked the waiter what was their most popular Pho and he directed me to the first one listed under Pho. The portion was good however the broth lacked any dimension. I usually describe good Pho broth as "complex" however this broth was simplex. Simply very one dimensional. All of the places I have had good Pho in Philly and the suburbs had one thing in common, no atmosphere. I would trade taste for atmosphere any day. Maybe their other dishes outperformed but not the Pho.

They have the same awesome food as the other tasty Vietnamese restaurants on the other side of Washington Ave....but this is better when it comes to the setting or atmosphere. Clean and less noisy/busy, but with the same superb aroma and taste of food...from their multiple variants of Pho, Rice vermicelli, summer roll, etc. Cons: Parking is tough and their durian shake has less durian fruit as that of across the street.

Their pho was fragrant and delicious, but I just want to rave about a few of their small plates. The summer rolls were enormous and arrived with a thick delicately spiced peanut sauce. I will return for their heavenly slider, a steamed bao bun filled with carrot, scallion, cucumber, and hoisin sauce over tender beef (you can choose a protein)! I worry I ate it too quickly, and almost regret sharing it, because it was all I could think about on the walk home.

This was my second time at Le Viet. It is a very comfortable venue to enjoy great Vietnamese cuisine. They have nice booths and a large bar which serves fabulous drinks as well as wine and beer. The menu is extensive and includes Pho, other soups and delicious seafood, beef and rice dishes. We loved everything and will return.
Wonderful and reasonable
Had a large crowd on a Saturday night. They were very nice and accommodating. The food was fabulous and fresh. We had several different entrees and no one was disappointed. Service was fast and friendly.
