Recently visited Portland with friends and ate here for brunch. They were running a fried waffle benedict special that was out of this world!! It was the right amount of sweet and salty and savory. Someone also ordered the fried chicken benedict that was equally as delicious - the breading was perfect!! Side Note: This is NOT a large restaurant and i don't believe they take same day reservations. I would recommend arriving a little early or after the brunch rush. Definitely a must eat!!

Never would have tried this place if it wasn't for the buy 1 get 1 deal. Glad we did! I had the French Dip - nice size with lots of meat and tasty & hot! And not-too-salty au jus! Will definitely return!

Excellent comfort food at reasonable prices. Clientel is local and has an Irish pub atmosphere. We come here regularly. Wait staff helpful and competent. Prices are especially good during happy hour. Pints of Pabst are always $2, a real deal.

It is very small. Tiny. We went early, but still had to wait for a table. Most of the people at the tables were still sitting there by the time we had finished...and we did not rush through our meal. If there's a wait, you may want to try somewhere else. However, we had a window seat and did some people watching, and the food was very good, and served quickly. Parking was good and close by...my husband is an Ace at parallel parking, so that helped.

Came across this place on Google when visiting recently to Portland. Menu had a southern influence. I got the waffles and chicken, and while they didn't blow my mind they were still tasty. The missus was very happy with her salmon. Would go again

Toniht was the first time I had gone andIf I had to use my mobility scooter I would not have been able to go, there are 4 steps and no ramp or even back door entry. I could eat outside but today was not an outside eating day. The foods was good. I had the Seafood Fettuccini and it was YUMMY! Smokewd salmon and Shrimp. Very good, was around 17.00. My boyfriend had stuffed meatloaf and enjoyed it. I think the total price was around $48.00 for 2.

Great little happy hour menu and some nice menu options in general. This is a bar, but the options are plentiful, it seems, for lots of palates and the service is phenomenal. Really enjoyed the cider on tap! Of course there are plenty of beer options and a full bar.

The Leaky Roof is a very small restaurant with great food. If you're looking for a nice meal on the Westside, don't spend a fortune on the places downtown. This is the place to go! And by the way...the fried chicken is amazing!

Had their burger & fries. Food was hot and delicious. Casual atmosphere, didn’t know what to expect from their name - weird like Portland, but enjoyable. Music was a little too loud if you want to have good conversation.

Wife and I having a weekend in Portland stopped in by chance for breakfast. Crazy good. Highly recommend the Irish Benedict. Yowza! Actually thought about ordering a second plate. Wife's banana bread was great. Candied walnuts put it over the top. Bloody Mary was good but a little spicy for me personally.

Great pub in Goose Hollow neighborhood. Food is consistently great. Good happy hour. Great staff. You won't be disappointed

I really enjoyed Leaky Roof. I had the grilled chicken sandwich and a Breakside IPA that was on draft. The food and the service were both excellent. I would definitely come back again.

This is a small place on a quiet out of the way street. The chef has a sense of humor and enjoys creating a wide variety of comfort style entrees. Service is usually quite good though occasionally the servers can seem harried. There is a definite neighborhood feel to the place.

Don't worry about the name and street view appearances, step inside, feast your eyes on the entrées that glide by, and just try to decide what you'll try on the menu tonight. Don't worry, you will be back for more.

Ate here today for the first time. Had "Bleu Burger", bacon 1/3 pound burger, bluevcheese, caramelized onions & crisp bacon! Came with seasoned fries...delicious. Small spot, a few blocks from home. Nice!

From the outside this looks like a sketchy dive bar. But inside, it is very nice casual place, warm and comfortable. At lunch last week, every table was full: business lunches, friends, students. The menu is extensive and the food is quite good; I really liked my cobb salad. Service is friendly and helpful. Not many choices for vegetarians however. If you are staying downtown and are looking for a casual local spot, this is your place.

Cozy spot with a small full bar and seating for about 30 people. Delicious food -- meatloaf and fried chicken are superb! Worth going off the Paleo diet for! One of those non-touristy spots that you'll be glad you tried!

The only thing to not like about Leaky Roof is the chronic wait to get a table. What does that say? Yes, the locals are here in abundance. So, if you're the type that's always in a hurry, the wait line that often goes out the front door won't miss you one bit. Of course, one can call to reserve a table if you're sorta in a hurry. I've been here for dinner and breakfast. The Chicken Fried Chicken with over-the-top seasoned mashed potatoes is off the hook good. For breakfast, the Belgian waffle will melt in your mouth. I bought the waffle with a side of bacon and a side of eggs. WOW! And the server? She was great under super busy conditions. I showed her a photo of the Portland skyline and she was able to direct me to the right vantage point at Pittock Mansion (a must visit if you're staying in Portland).

Such great food in this nondescript building! The interior is very cozy and has nice wooden booths. We went on a Thursday and made a reservation. Good thing we did that! The MAX was running late, but they were very nice about our running a few minutes late. I ordered the salmon with lemon risotto and pesto aioli and my husband ordered the stuffed meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Both came with a seasonal vegetable of broccoli and asparagus - no summer squash - hurrah!!! The salmon was nicely plated and the risotto and aioli were very flavorful. The mashed potatoes and meatloaf were good too. The portions are quite reasonable, so if you have a big appetite, you'll have room for an appetizer, salad, or soup. I saved room for dessert and the chocolate cake did not disappoint - it was very moist and fresh, and the berry coulis was perfect with it. We'll definitely return. There is a fair amount of parking nearby, and the Goose Hollow MAX station is only 3 blocks away. My only suggestion would be to have service that is a little more professional. The service was quite good, but just not quite up to snuff with the food!

One of the few places one can go for brunch and get real Irish bacon. The restaurant is cozy and has somewhat of a feeling of a village pub near Ipswich. Staff are always nice, prompt, helpful and accommodating to make you feel like you are at home. But , really, go for the food. It isn't NW-Pan-Pac Rim cuisine but it is good food.

We picked this place because it was the closest pub to where we were staying that had a good rating. It turned out to be a very good choice. We ordered Guinness-battered fish and chips, and duck breast risotto. Everything was cooked to perfection. The duck was still pink, the risotto was the right texture, and the fish was light and crispy. As a pub, their selection is outstanding. The beer selection is well matched to the food (too many places have 8 to 10 ales and nothing else) and they have a drink menu item you don't find everywhere: Scotch flights. Three Scotches from one of several set lists, at a very reasonable price. They have every Scotch I can name, and then some. The place is small and seating is limited, but I did not find it cramped, as pubs go. Service was great, apart from one small hiccup: I was accidentally served someone else's meal, so my wife's arrived ten minutes later. We don't mind this kind of mistake and the staff was very apologetic. We would have gone again had we been staying longer in Portland.

This place is great! The prices are reasonable, the menu extensive, and the place is cozy! Need I say more?

Had dinner with friends. 3 of us ordered a cup of clam chowder. 2 had fish and chips, one had a burger and another the stuffed meat loaf. Very enjoyable but crowded on a Friday evening. Fortunately we had made reservations. Street parking.

Very, very quaint, cozy restaurant with a great brunch menu, full bar, and outstanding atmosphere. Staff were professional and friendly. Food was great. Will definitely return, often. Highly recommended.

The Leaky Roof is a quaint restaurant with decent brunch offerings for a leisurely Saturday. We went at 10 am and didn't have to wait for a table; it started to get busy around 11 am and there was a bit of a line at noon. Everyone was very friendly!

We went about noon on Saturday. There was a short 10-minute wait to be seated. We were still able to order breakfast, a big plus. All the food was delicious. The service was great. There were 2 or 3 tables for outdoor seating. There is a small bar when you enter.

We came here with a Groupon. Even though I read several positive reviews, we didn't expect to enjoy it so much. I had Seafood Alfredo which came with a salmon filet on top. My husband had Osso Buco. Both meals were excellent and we enjoyed the casual pub atmosphere.

One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to in Portland. Terrible service, which was obviously due to the color of my (and my boyfriend's) skin. The food was clearly out of a can and severely overpriced. Racist AND nasty? Yeah - do yourself a favor and never go here.

Had a great experience in this place. Great wine selection at good price and excellent food. I had a Philly sandwich with lots of meat. Our server was very friendly and attentive, so was the bartender. The place is cozy and it gets very crowded.

I found this spot while i was getting my car serviced. It was walking distance so i figured id try it. Best decision i made that day. The chicken and waffles were UNbelievable. I highly recommend you try these. You will return for more

My daughter and I came here a cold rainy night to get warm and get something hot -- this is a local pub for her. I had the Guiness stew which was delicious and filling and just what I needed in the way of comfort food. Service was good and the place has character; I felt it would be a good place to make your go-to spot if you lived in the neighborhood. Friendly!

Don't be fooled by the outdoor appearance. A quick google search for "gastropub" on my cellphone while driving through Portland had this ranked top of the list. While small and cozy, this place has awesome food. After a large table of people left it got real quiet. After seeing all those people walk across the street to the Culinary Institute, we thought, this has to be good if it satisfies their pallet. And WOW! The special, rib-eye salad with goat cheese was unbelievable. Everything was fresh, and you can taste every flavor in the dish. It was perfect. The staff was fun to talk to and really loved working there. A great find that everyone should try.

Super cute "pub"! Traditionally dark and smells of greasy seasoned foods (not always a bad thing). I have the White Cheddar Burger and fries. I had met some fellow coworkers there for a lunch break and seriously the SHORTEST wait time from the order being taken till the food arrived! Service was fantastic and the waitress was extremely kind.

We went to the Leaky Roof with a Groupon. It was a tiny little dining room, and was packed with after work happy hour type crowd. We had to wait about 25 to 30 minutes for a table. It was extremely noisy, probably due to the small space. We had a difficult time carrying on a conversation. The food was very good though. I had the Timburger, which I put on my Top 5 burger list for Portland! Very good burger. My wife had a Cobb Salad which she enjoyed very much. We each had a glass of house wine which was reasonably priced and decent quality. Overall, very good food, just a little too noisy for us. We might go back, not sure yet.

A great find in the city! We wandered in with two kids and were offered a booth...we took it and the pleasure began! We had the garlic truffle fries, mushroom soup, Irish stew, two cheeseburgers with onion rings and the small fish and chips. Were we pigs or what? We wanted to sample the menu! EVERYTHING...and I mean EVERYTHING...was delicious. Denise was our waitress, and she was quick and efficient...she made suggestions as we asked man questions...even the ten year old had a dozen! Then we shared raspberry bread pudding..as if we needed it. We resolved not to eat for days, but who are we kidding?

I hope the planets align for you. So often Portland lives up to its reputation for nonstop rain. 'Tree weather', as they euphemistically say. We're not laughing. So when the strange yellow ball is in the sky, everyone in town finds a sidewalk option for lunch -- a food cart, a patio. Or in Leaky Roof's case, a little string of wooden tables built into an exterior wall. Pretty good catch on the day I came by. Within hopping distance of downtown, just over the freeway a few blocks. My choice, as a vegetarian, was their homemade tomato soup and a grilled cheese. Simple stuff, but done with attention: peeled red peppers in the soup, sized just right for appreciating the extra heat, and the grilled cheese had three very different cheeses inside, along with some local butter. Cozy little bar inside, and very well-stocked. Something to try the next time, right?

Great service. Delicious food. Fairly priced. Highly recommend for happy hour. Pot pie, beef shanks, shrimp scampi, quasadillas were great. Good selection of beverages.

The menu has many tasty choices at attractive prices. The service is fast and friendly. The fish and chips are a good choice.

I have heard about the spot for a quite a while. I was taken there yesterday by my cousin for brunch. I enjoyed it so much, I was back today. Simply said, the food is from scratch and the service is friendly and prompt. I have only been there for brunch but their selection is quite large as far as the menu goes. They pour a nice stiff drink as well. Today I had the stuffed biscuits bread which was stuffed with bacon and mushrooms. It was tasty on its own but greatly benefited from the side of the country gravy which I ordered. The gravy was light and had a nice addition of sliced mushrooms. We were promptly seated by our server Kayla. She was a very attentive server who checked back often to make sure we had everything we needed. Kayla was prompt to get his refills on our nonalcoholic beverages but also asked if we needed additional cocktails when she noticed they were verging on empty. My dining companion had the Huevos rancheros which were ample in size and had a lovely homemade red enchilada sauce on them. I'm looking forward to going back here for brunch but also trying this spot for lunch or dinner soon. Street parking was ample today, however could be tight during other meal periods.

Sat down at Leaky Roof for dinner before a concert. My wife and werw very disappointed. The service was very poor. We waited for over a half an hour for our dinner to arrive, and when it did arrive it was very salty...my wife and I were dehydrated the whole next day. No one came around to fill up our glasses of water until we were done eating and ready to pay our bill. We will not be back...didnt find much to like about this spot except for the homemade onion rings.

Very cozy ambience, pleasant service, and excellent food. We had the Blue Burger, the daily special (a smoked turkey and melted cheese sandwich), and the daily special mushroom soup. Everything was very tasty, and we're already planning to go back and try some different dishes.

Went for happy hour yesterday and could not be more pleased. Service was prompt and friendly. The food was well prepared and presented. Prices were good, especially based on quality of the food. Certainly nothing fancy but a really nice surprise. I suspect that the people who live nearby are really thankful that it's there.

Service was fabulous food was horrible. Ordered bacon and eggs off the brunch menu. Eggs overcooked, potatoes at least a day old and burnt as well as the toast being burnt. And it was ham instead of bacon. Husbands monte cristo not very good. Had been here for cocktails a few years ago and looked at the brunch menu with this huge assortment of benedicts and none of that was the case now. Should have tried it a few years ago before the menu changed into the same old boring brunch.

We wanted to find a quaint little spot to have a drink and an appetizer during the middle of the day. A quick search let us do the Leaky Roof and it was a great find. The owner and staff we're incredibly friendly. The bartender dreamed up a strawberry tequila martini for my wife and I had the Oakshire amber ale. We wanted an appetizer and they recommended the quesadilla, which was probably the best quesadilla we've ever had. The chipotle mayo sauce was incredible. So, we didn't explore the whole menu, but our experience here was wonderful and we would come back in a heartbeat!

I am sorry that I haven't posted sooner! I come from an Irish/German family and have traveled to Ireland. One of my favorite dishes is Shepard's Pie, did I get it? No, I got the Guinness battered fish and chips and Thank You! Sweet Mary! I did! I can't wait to go back again! This time I will have the Pie, or maybe the Irish Stew...of course that was really good fish and chips!

Amazing neighborhood place. Stumbled upon it on the way to the rose garden. The owner and the staff were super friendly and recommended some good local brews. I had a salad with smoked salmon and it was the best smoked salmon I've ever had! Their mac and cheese was also delicious!

My daughter, a local, suggested this spot for dinner. The feel is like a place "...where everybody knows your name..." The menu is smallish but with enough choices for all five of us. There were a number of servers so that there was always attention to your needs or wants. The food was good with large portions (all of us took home some). A fun place to dine and chat.

Once again L R came thru. Consistently great food. The Bleu Burger is to die for. My husband had a fabulous Ossco Bucco. So nice to be able to do something downtown without parking hassles. So cozy and great beverages to complement the meal. Recommend the rotating cider choices. Awesome time.

On top of the stellar fresh, creatively prepared entrees, I love the friendly, cozy ambiance. This was my first time here for brunch but will not be my last -- unless this review brings too long lines. Today, two of us walked in about 10 and were able to be seated right away. Then when a booth opened up, the staff was flexible and let us move. The noise level this morning was high and felt less so when seated in a booth compared to in middle of dining room. We each chose different benedict options -- mine a vegetarian caprese and my friend one with ham. Both were delicious and topped with a holland aide that was not overly rich. Side option is for fruit or potatoes. my one call-out was that the benedict eggs were lukewarm and I prefer hotter eggs. I also enjoyed a Cardinal -- bubbly with cranberry juice. There is also the traditional mimosa and bloody mary. The menu is a good value; the staff is attentive and friendly. All above tell you why this is my go-to neighborhood spot.

good food and beer

Five Friends from around the country had a great lunch - line caught cod and salmon fish and chips were both terrific - the lamb burger with chicken chile verde soup was perfect for a rainy day and tri-berry bread pudding an unexpected gourmet finish - lots of craft beers to choose from and great service in neighborhood bar with lots of character. Staff is exceptional.

Stopped in for a late supper & enjoyed Guinness Beef Stew. Yum!! They have a vast array of beers & ciders. Everything we tatsed was great!

Excellent menu, lots of variety, full bar, great servers. We had a small group meeting over breakfast. Lots of different dietary needs, all easily met.

Good service, quaint atmosphere and good food. What more could you want? The french toast Monte Cristo is excellent.

Lat night we wanted to try something different so we picked this neighborhood pub. Wow, what a find. The food was amazing. The decor is great...old world pub style. The server, Denise, was fantastic person. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken Breast...best ever!!! The Hungarian Mushroom Soup was out of this world. I am craving more as I write this. Yummie!!! We will be back many more time to try other delights. Oh, the prices.....TOO LOW to mention. Dinner for 2 with alcohol drinks, less then $60.00 USD!!!!!! Unheard of for this area of town.

They have really good food ... kind a a quiet pub atmosphere with great whiskey selection, but their food is the real draw. Tasty, varied and all around wonderful.

Best thing about Leaky is its proximity to the Timbers stadium. It's easy walking distance and service is prompt. The garlic fries are super oily, but if I'm being honest, really good. Salads are fine. Overall it's an easy predictable grab before a game.

I live 450 miles away from Portland but I continue to always eat and bring friends to Leaky Roof. I mean dont you like it just because of the name alone?! It is located in a quiet little location in Goose Hollow and it a very tiny place with BIG food surprises and a full but tiny bar too, only about 14 wooden tables and booths, and a class fireplace. The food is seasonal, fresh and very local, This time I had their seafood stew only $14. which was superbly prepared, that and the Mediterranean appetizer plate that I shared with my 2 other friends was plenty of food for me. We had a bottle of Oregon Riesling $22. , then a glass of Red wine each. My friend said the Irish stew was very authentic and very hearty. Excellent wait staff service friendly and attentive, It was perfect and made a memorable evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and think you will enjoy it too. Easy and free street parking City bus stops right outside or walk 3 blocks to MAX as we did.

OMG – if you like onion rings, you just must taste theirs! You can score a free entree using AARP’s “Rewards for Good” points (anyone can join and points can be easily manufactured as needed). Both the Red and Blue MAX light rail lines stop at Goose Hollow/SW Jefferson St.; from there it is just 2 blocks to The Leaky Roof.

If you drive by this place, you might wonder whether you really want to go in, but the inside, while old, is warm, cozy and clean. And always filled with locals just enjoying a nice meal, or a cold one, with good company. Go at an off-time or be prepared to wait. The food here is good and the service is prompt and friendly, but people like to hang out here, so it can be hard to get a table.

An older bar in Portland that is a bit out of the way, but so much worth it. Super great meal for a groupon experience. I just had an excellent ahi seared tuna with a wasabi sauce (nice and light) and a risotto that was a parmesean/lemon/ginger combination. Risotto was made perfectly. The vegetable was a squash and was perfectly cooked (not mushy). The wait staff was good and very attentive. So happy that I have found this place andI will go back again without the Groupon

Interesting mix of dishes. Some Pacific Northwest, some Irish, even one Russian. Good food and plenty of it. Standard pub decor, ambiance, etc.
Good bar and better than bar food
We went here on with a living social GC, it was a solid bet. This place is a bit small but its a bar and to be expected. The drinks are good and stiff and the food was much better than expected. The truffle fries were tasty and the duck was done really well. In all a good place for something low key and easy.
