Ice Cold Beer & Great Burgers!!

By Ken C |

A trip back in time!! Fantastic dive bar with the coldest beer in town. Delicious burgers and onion rings. Fun (and free) juke box with lots of choices of songs from the 50's & 60's. Decor is also vintage 50's & 60's. Service was extremely friendly. Will definitely go there again on our next trip to "Big D".

Great neighborhood bar

By Jeff I |

We needed to get away from a bar we stopped in that was having a Bachelorette viewing party, so we searched for dive bars nearby. Lee Harvey's popped up, and it was truly a highlight of our stay in Dallas. The bartender was fantastic, the local couple next to us kind, the food excellent, the beer cheap, and the jukebox was free. Honestly, for my wife and I, it doesn't get any better than that. We will definitely be back. I'd love to see a band here on their outdoor porch.

Very cool local place

By Maryanne S |

We found this cool bar when we visited Dallas over the Canadian May long weekend. We didn't eat here but stopped in a couple of times for a beer/drink. What a unique local 'joint'! The entrance way has a double fenced area to allow people to safely bring in their dogs, who are then allowed to run around freely. Most of the space is outside, with picnic tables and a large fireplace in the middle of the tables. There is a covered area (if one doesn't want to be in the sun). The vibe here is so laid back and the dogs all seem to get along. We had beer and vodka/sodas. Very, very cold on a very hot day. Servers were really friendly, as were patrons if you cared to start a conversation. This place was a great find and we'd certainly return if we ever get back to Dallas.

No beer on tap

By russkwtx |

This bar is what it is, a dive bar, so you need to know that going in. We went during a slow time so this place is hard to review because there were about two other couples there so there was no vibe or energy level. The weather was beautiful so it's a bit curious why more people were not there. The bartender (owner?) was really friendly and talkative, made us feel welcome. But the drink choices are limited, and I am giving it 3 stars because there is no beer on tap. I don't see how a bar cannot have anything on tap. The huge outside seating area is a real plus and I can imagine that it would be quite fun to sit outside on a nice day in the spring or fall when lots of people are there.

Fun time!

By Rebecca C |

We took our son and his girlfriend (both in their 20s) here because they had an 80s tribute band playing on a Saturday night. What a fun time! First of all, it is nothing fancy. There are picnic tables set up outside. There are some tables inside too but it didn’t seem like many. It was voted best local dive and I can see why. It is not dirty or anything, but definitely nothing fancy. All of the food we ordered was fantastic. I loved the onion rings and I don’t even eat onion rings. We got burgers, a chicken sandwich and steaks and they were all really good and very reasonably priced. We had a really nice time eating, drinking, listening to the band and it was all very reasonably priced. Will definitely be back next time I am in Dallas.

Love Lee Harveys

By marijkopecki |

Its our favorite!!!!! We sit inside the bar most Saturdays. (So cant comment on outside service). Food is delicious and it's great people watching. Fun place. Nice dark dive bar. Onion rings are fabulous. Burgers are great. Wings rock. Grilled cheese is wonderful. Drinks are good. Go see Kevin behind the bar. It's relaxed and mellow. It's fun to watch the bartender and customers play their guitars sitting aroumd the bar.

Funky and Fabulous

By Randy B |

People will either love Lee Harvey’s, or they’ll think you should have your head examined for recommending it. This funky favorite definitely has more of an Austin than a Dallas vibe. Located south of I-30 in the Cedars/Southside area, it sits in what remains of a modest residential block that appears to date from the 1920s or 30s. It’s a mixed-use area in transition, and folks from north of downtown may have the impression that they’re taking their lives in their hands as they approach. Yet there is modern condo construction not far off. Lee Harvey’s is a converted house with add-ons which include a stage for weekend bands. The double lot is covered with gravel. Long picnic tables invite communal seating. In cooler weather, patrons snag seats near the firepits. Dogs are welcome, and on Sundays they’re allowed to roam off-leash. The inside of the place is tiny, but there is limited booth and bar seating for rainy or sweltering days. Given its thrown-together look, what’s remarkable is the food. The onion rings are as good as everyone says. So are the fish tacos. In both cases, the chipotle aioli makes them sparkle. Friends raved about their Roadrunner sandwich, a chicken breast/grilled cheese creation. And the cheeseburger looks mighty fine and also comes highly recommended. Frankly, I never tasted anything here that was less than yummy. The beer is kept on ice – literally, which is especially welcome on hot Texas days. This is largely a Shiner Bock crowd, but there’s also Bud and PBR, as befits a dive, as well as Sam Adams and Negra Modelo. Parking is available both on the street and in two vacant corner lots across the street. Belying the modest location, the clientele seems mostly well-off. Once there, you will not feel like you’re slumming…except in a good way. It’s a great place to have dinner before going to a show at nearby Poor David’s Pub or the Palladium.

Funky Town in Dallas

By Michael C |

Lee Harvey's is maybe the coolest, funkiest place in Dallas when it comes to laid back atmosphere, great music and really good food. The main seating area is outside on a gravel yard populated with down home picnic tables. Don't let the "hole in the wall" looks fool you. The food is really good, drinks are nice size and reasonably priced. The live music is some of the best in Dallas. 1807 Gould Street is south of downtown between Akard and Browder.

Dranks!!

By Will H |

I love this bar! Laid back and relaxing! Drinks are great, the hot wings are delish and so is the rest of the food and my favorite show DALLAS even filmed here!

Burgers are awesome.

By DanteTripper |

Went here for lunch on a day my wife was off. Wanted to get a Groupon, but decided to try the place first. Drove by the address and didn't think anything could possibly inhabit the area. Parked and walked inside to a very dark and small bar area. Was greated by a friendly bartender, and placed our order at the bar. The place reminded me of hangout places in my days when I would go out with friends and stay out all night and part of the mornings. I ordered the cheeseburger with jalapenos, pickle, fries and a drink, my wife ordered the fish tacos. We played a game of pool, Galaga on the old video arcade machine, and picked some songs on the old jukebox while we waited. When the food came out, just the smell and the size of the burger, told me that my taste buds where in for a treat. This burger brought me back to my younger days when a burger was greasy, and you didn't care about gluten this or fat free that. This was definitely a Man's burger! Every bite was exactly the same, "Incredible"! I only wish i had got a double meat burger, but that wasn't going to happen as the wife was there to smack me to my senses. My wife said the fish tacos were great, and are as good as Fuzzy's Taco Shop. I plan on going back on a Sunday, as I here that it is a good place to hangout and eat with your dog outside inside the fenced in area with tables, firepits and other dogs. Can't wait to go back. Definitely one of the top five burgers I have ever had.

Rockin time

This is my regular watering hole. Great drinks and beers, awesome bar food, fun staff, and hot chicks! What else do you need?

Great vibe, good food

Stumbled upon this place after I got lost trying to find Dallas Heritage Village. Turned out it had some great fish tacos, awesome vibe, great music and fire pits. Glad I got lost.

Great spot with outdoor seating & music

By Eileen D |

We were in town for a few days and stumbled upon this place. It had a great selection of beer, liquor and the food was pretty good too. The thing I liked most about this place was the owner who was very friendly and really cared about making his patrons happy. The outdoor seating is definitely a plus as well as the music.

A must in Dallas

By Amy M |

I was in Dallas for one night and this place was near my hotel. The outside area was spacious and allowed dogs. This was a win for me! The place had a local, hip, friendly vibe. The location is great and the staff was awesome. I felt so welcome. Now to the food...it was also AMAZING. The onion rings are what onion rings should be! I had the jalapeño grilled cheese. I highly recommend it with a side of onion rings. I will visit here again when I make my way back to Dallas.

Funky Dive!!

By Lisa P |

Great onion rings - awesome bands and just an overall fun place to hang out! This place is a bit of a dive, but that's part of the charm! I have been here many times, and it's always a good experience.

Great food, slow service

By deb0217 |

We went on a Saturday night, weather was great, live band was good, food was super yummy... only problem is that the service was VERY slow. It seemed like they didn't have enough servers. But, the food almost makes you forget all about the slow service. I'd go back again though, the outdoor atmosphere is great.

It's like going to the divey-Texas version of Cheers!

By BigH73 |

I admit - I'm a little biased when it comes to this place. It's a dive bar which has stolen my heart. I love the red lights that line the metal fence outside; I love the fire pits and gravel lot where the picnic benches and tables are; I love that I have seen great bands play here; I love the strong cocktails and large selection of beer for my husband; And I really Love that they have Dog Day Sundays when your pups can go off Leash and run and play while you hang out with your friends. It a great place in the summer. And even tho it is mostly an outdoor type Dive- they have a large screened in patio for the cold winter months. Plus there are fire pits and fires burning every night when it's cold. The food, and conversation is always great... It's charming in it's Texas Roadhouse/beer garden/Dive bar kinda way. They have a great grilled cheese (add bacon), steak tacos aren't to shabby. Like them on Facebook to get updated on events, weekly specials, friend of day contest, and list of bands for the weekend. All the severs and bar tenders are great- Kevin, Tim, Howard, Jonathan, Courtney.... Such a great staff. Even tho it's in a dodgey up-n-coming area. It's really safe. They have a lot of police officers there on any given night relaxing after work. It really is a great place. The regulars are a cast of characters. And if you go there enough- you become one too.

Burger very good, onion rings VG, Fascinating dive.

Atmosphere: When I first arrived on a back road in a dark and deserted area in Dallas, i considered since I wasn't armed (Thanks TSA!) If I had, it would have been a mistake. It was a bit difficult to find the front door, but one of the patrons (I think) showed me where it is. In the yard was large metal fireplaces heating the yard. This Thursday night wasn't busy. When I went in I was greeted at the door by a woman who I thought might be a waitress, turns out she was just one of the patrons too. She told me to sit where I wanted. The atmosphere was a dive, there were 1970's beer signs, a loaded rifle, and a pair of testicles from the bar cat Bacon (You can put bacon on anything, but not the cat) above the bar. The vinyl stools appeared to have been clawed by the bar cat. (The cat wasn't there, it was at it's second home). Seriously, this is just a gritty place. That is it's charm. I had a burger an onion rings, From that point on the bartender knew my name. The margaritas are very good, and if you want anything you HAVE TO ASK. Don't expect them to come up and see if you want anything. The burger was very good, cooked properly and with the proper condiments available. The onion rings came out with a spicy mayo, which was quite tasty. During and after the meal, I struck up a conversation with one of the locals who gave me the history and a run down of the events at Lee Harvey's. He pointed out the fascinating artifacts for the place, and we discussed all of the ways of the world. He said he had lived in that neighborhood for years but discovered Lee Harvey's only last year, moved there from Chicago and Detroit, and that when he didn't show up for three weeks they called his house to see if he was still alive. We discussed the ways of the world and had a fine time. Here is the deal. Good food. good drinks, good prices. Weird and Eclectic atmosphere. Just do it, and don't judge.

Very Unorganized but Great Music

By mdevries |

The place is very unorganized. It was hard to figure out where to sit, and then even harder to figure out where to order the food. The food took forever to get, and then it was so dark that I couldn't see my food. Had to take a picture of it just to see what I was eating.

Best Burgers in S Dallas. I Kid You Not!!

By AustinActor |

This place has been around a long time. If you don’t know this information about their burgers by now, you are totally lost. Onion rings fries..... Cold beer and wonderful owner.

Worth a return

By Rebecca N |

If your up for adventure definitely check it out. Fenced in picnic tables with fire pits outdoors very casual ambience. After stepping up on the porch and walking through a screen door your at the bar where we ordered the Monday night special 4 fish street tacos and 2 beers was $13.00. Definitely worth a return visit maybe on the weekend.

Funky Austin vibe in South Dallas

By Karen P |

Lee Harvey's can be hard to find, but worth finding. Live music and outdoor seating are a big draw, but it's the BLT that keeps drawing me back again and again. Good burgers and fish tacos, but it's the BLT that lingers in my memory.

Worst food and service. If you don't value your time and like mediocre food this is for you.

By cashew2015 |

Just came here my first and LAST time tonight. Waited over 1 hour and 10 minutes for a bad $9.00 cheeseburger. I ordered a cheeseburger that arrived barely warm. The cheese was supposed to be cheddar; it was not melted, didn't taste nor look like cheddar. The fries were barely warm and lacked seasoning. One server came by after we waited for 40 minutes to say that our order was next, after another 15 minutes someone at my table went in to check on our order, then we flagged down another server and waited about 15 more minutes then finally got our awful food. The service is horrible. The servers did not check on us for drink refills or to see if our food was OK. The management obviously does not care.

Great Tacos.

Excellent tacos, great daily specials and all at an affordable price. Great neighborhood bar and grill.

Local dive. Near downtown

Awesome dive. Great bar food. Great live music and plenty of outdoor seating for larger groups. Great selection of alcohol.

Tacky Name, Good Food

By gulfcoastboy |

If you can get past the uber-tacky name, this place offers good food. Can't decide if the "decor" is original or curated to look like a "dive bar." The service was prompt. Burgers and soft drinks. What is a dive bar? Here's a quick way to tell: If you are not a regular, and the denizens look at you with suspicion, it is probably a dive bar. If they ignore you as just more tourists, then it's not a real 'dive bar." Although dive bars are very trendy-wendy, a real dive bar should give you pause about going in at all. The "dive" refers to diving past your middle-class comfort zone.

Even if You Don't Live in S Dallas.... Come Here !

The Perfect Dive Bar

By GLG3 |

This place is the perfect local dive bar. Stopped in for a quick meal and a cocktail, the bartender was friendly and got to us pretty quick even though the bar was very busy. We ordered our food and it was served quickly and was delicious. I only wished I lived closer so I could go here more often.

Great Dive-Bar!

By BrotherhoodAurora |

If you are looking a relaxing, back-yard gathering with real people then this will be good for your soul. I’d classify it as a dive bar, but sometimes these places are exactly what you are looking for. All the employees have a heart of gold, and are very welcoming. They do serve bar food, and all the frosty drinks you could ask for. A pool table is inside but outside is where you want to be listening to the band when they have one chilling with your friends like it’s a reunion. My only complaint, the restroom but then again it’s a dive bar :)

Great local spot to people watch, take your dog and eat and drink ooutdoors

By ShariH662 |

This restaurant is very run down but that is what makes it charming. Picnic tables that have seen better days. Split wood, crooked tables and benches. Because of the ambience of the place and it's uniqueness you put up with it. If you haven't gone here you must try it. We have always gotten the burgers. They grill to your order of doneness and butter and heat the bun. They always have fresh lettuce and tomatoes if desired. French fries and onion rings are both good. They give you a small dish of spicy mayo type with chipotle for dipping your fries. Drinks are good. They have lots of mixers to suit all tastes. I like by vodka with pineapple juice. First time I thought they didn't have it so the bartender said "try me". I asked for pineapple juice and he had it!! Impressed. In the summer they have misters to help with the heat. In winter they have extra large raised pits with a roaring fire. Fire doesn't start until 6:30. Go on Sunday or Saturday in the spring or fall as your first visit. Take your dog or dogs. This place is dog friendly. They even have water dishes ready in the shade for the dogs. This is a one-of-a-kind place. After a while the splinters won't matter!

Cool place good food

By Barb D |

This location is really neat, the outdoor patio with the fire pits, the old advertising lighted signs, the atmosphere, the grunge, the staff alllll reallly interesting. The onion rings are great, the fish tacos AWESOME, really enjoyed our visits there and bringing friends.

Fun place to hear live music

By SharonTab |

Lee Harvey's has a great burger and onion rings at an affordable price. My husband and I love hearing some of the bands they bring in regularly when the weather permits sitting outside by a firepit. The place normally fills up by 10, so you have to get there before then to find a good seat. The waitstaff is hopping, but they stop by and ask if you're doing ok when they get a chance. They can give you a menu, and they also give out beer buckets with ice so you can relax and enjoy yourself without having to find someone to ask for another beer. Check out the calendar for bands you want to hear!

Glad I came!

By Blazinpistol |

What a great place. I would have never found out about it if they had not of hosted the rockers and mods Motorcycle Show this weekend. The place is very laid back and casual, and the food is very good. The staff is friendly and efficient. They specialize and hamburgers, steak or fish tacos, and (my favorite) the best grilled sandwiches on the planet. The grill cheese sandwich just so happens to have awesome fire grilled chicken breast in it! The meals cost about the same as a fast food combo meal, so it's a no brainer! Plenty of outdoor seating to handle about any size crowd you might have. Atmosphere is perfect to make new friends and enjoy the ones you already have. What a good time I had, I will be back.

Having a Burger Fixation? Here Ya Go......

By AustinActor |

I've been coming here for years. Lee Harvey's will NOT disappoint. Outside / Inside.... local excellence! Plus... My dog is welcomed... BONUS. Burgers and all the fix'ins.... Outstanding. There is no other burger place in S Dallas but this place. Period.

Fun place

By Papajack007 |

Great burger, relaxed x 4. A very different place only the Dallas residents know. Close to South aside on Lamar and the NYLO
