Good food and atmosphere although very busy and short of space in the bar area where we were sat to eat. We were on vacation but area is business orientated. Service was very good.

Fun restaurant good food

By Kim W |

This restaurant has a good vibe. Our server was amazing, helpful and really sweet. I felt the portions were small for the price but everything we had was delicious. We had the deviled egg w/buffalo fried oyster on top, 1 egg $6, pricy and very small but very good. I had several oysters on 1/2 shell, they were delicious and the vinegar sauce served with them was really good. We shared a bowl of the lobster/crab/shrimp bisque it was very rich, filling and really good. The lobster roll is really good!! Lots of lobster and very tasty. The seating was a little uncomfortable, we sat I. The 2nd room with a patio like chair with a pillow, hard to get comfortable in.

Excellent choice for lunch if you are a seafood lover and find yourself in the financial district

By Ran H |

Came into town for some errands and just searched for a seafood place for lunch. Turned out to be a great place. Large selection of fresh oysters and many other dishes. We had oysters of course, then two appetizers - Lobster bisque and the smoked tuna dip. Both were excellent. We sat at the bar as it was peak hour and we had no reservation but that was a pleasant experience overall. The bar staff was attentive and highly professional.

Comfortably delicious!

By sallyv958 |

Sitting at the bar with my son in a setting reminiscent of old Key West, we ordered multiple items, one as delicious as the next. The evening was perfect, including the friendly bartender. The food is tasty without being ridiculous with a million weird ingredients. So over the foody thing. Just give me some good food, and that they did!

Great raw bar / seafood joint with a fun, Tiki bar vibe.

By Jonathan P |

We went to Leo's on a Friday after reading about it on Eater and had a great lunch at the bar. Oysters, clams and shrimp are very, very good (as they should be if 'Oyster Bar' is part of the establishment's name). Clean, fresh and delicious. The lobster roll is a real standout, made with a yummy uni butter that made two Bostonians forget about the ones back home. The staff (both behind and in front of the bar) is friendly and helpful. And the decor exudes retro Tiki bar kitsch but in a good way. Fun and yummy. What more could you want?

Dazzling!

One has not lived, until you've been to Leo's! I love their concept and they treat you like a celebrity here. The drinks are fun and the food is always fresh. I'm a big fan of their caviar options and deviled eggs...especially the ones with caviar on top! ;) I recommend you visit for a date night or for a night out with friends, the occasions are unlimited!

Instagram worthy

By laurney13 |

I think this is one of the few times I have just taken pictures of the restaurant, rather than the food - not to say that the food was bad! We went for lunch, so the restaurant had good lighting for me to take some photos. I love the wallpaper and vintage feel - the back room looked darling, although we sat in the front. It was difficult to get reservations a week in advance (I was there for dreamforce, so that might have had something to do with it, although it seems like this is a hot spot). I had the bubble bath cocktail because I love gin and sparkling wine and it was delicious - the mixologist knows what he's doing behind the bar. Oysters were yummy - I had the scallop, shrimp, lobster burger - definitely good, but it's not something I'm thinking about or bragging about to anyone. Everyone enjoyed their food- salad was overdressed, maybe let them know to lightly dress it, otherwise was also delicious!!

Get the oysters

By Michelle J |

The baked oysters and deviled egg oysters were super good. I ordered the lobster roll which was average. It was super heavy. Chocolate mousse cake in a fancy pineapple cup and was good.

Cozy spot, Sit at the end of the Bar and watch them work

By Babs |

We had a great impromptu meal. We walked in and there was no space. But, they put us at the end of the bar. We got to watch them do their work with all of the seafood. Excellent. We had a great Butternut Squash. Three of us had the Crab and Shrimp Louie. Devine. We also had the Octopus a la Plancha, excellent. And the Tater Tots. Topped off with Negroni's and Martini's and great wine Enjoy!

Way overpriced. Do not go

By anonymousP6716HM |

Way overpriced. Do not go here. They try to present fancy food but average quality. There are many better places in SF. This is average but high priced.

Exceptional

We went for New Years Eve dinner the oysters and alaskin crab where the freshest weve had Service was great, food is awesome would highly recommend this restaurant My wife drank them out of a particular champagne and they obtained another from a close by location Great service . A definite to visit

A completely Seamless Experience

Leo's amazing decor takes you to lush, vibrant, timeless seafood supper club. Expert, professional, yet intimate service. Succulent, mouthwatering fresh seafood ( and non-fish choices ) round out an unforgetable evening.

Amazing Oysters and well...everything

By Alana F |

Went here for an early birthday celebration. Got a seat in the back part of the restaurant, which is probably quieter. Started with a glass of bubbly and deviled eggs with wing fried oyster. YUM. I lost count with the number of oysters we ate, we just had to have more of the Kusshi, Little Leo's and Irish Point, along with a king crab leg. Thinking some greenery might be good, we ordered the gem lettuce salad....with more king crab legs. Wine list is great, the cocktails looked fun (I eyeballed the garden party as it came out from the bar) but we stuck to bubbly/wine. As a treat for my birthday I was brought a Pineapple sundae, which I wouldn't have ordered for myself but it was delicious! I paired it with their suggestion of the Madeira port and it didn't disappoint. Great vibe and fun decor! Will go back.

Absolutely Amazing

By Mark G |

Quality of everything was perfect! The reservations, service, quality of food, the cocktails and especially the oysters, perfectly shucked, meaning loose from the shell, no shell bits in my oyster, just so delicious. The decor is beautiful and welcoming, everyone and everything so professional.

Leo's = Magnificent

By Lisa G |

If you're looking for a place like "the good ole days" - Leo's is the perfect place. As soon as you walk in the front door, you are welcomed with open arms. You feel like you're walking into a friends home. The bar is beautiful, the food is amazing and the drinks are fantastic. The employees feel like your best friends and they get to show a little bit of their creativity one way or another. Casandra will show you her magnificent cocktail making skills and won't stop until you're taste buds are satisfied. If you want an amazing experience leaving completely satisfied, go to Leo's. You will not be disappointed. I will leave you with a picture of a delicious digestive that Casandra picked with some chocolate and orange notes that will leave you.. Completely satisfied.

Bustling SF Gem with Fantastic Seafood Treats

By kristinalisan |

I had heard that Leo's was one of SF's best but will be honest that the pictures online made it look too flowery for my taste. Went here without a plan or reservation on a Tuesday night and were discouraged when the wait was long. We gave our name and number, went up the street, actually settled for another place, but when Leo's called, we decided to pay for the drinks we'd finally gotten and go back to Leo's. We were not disappointed! The three of us sat at the bar, ordered a bottle of pinot and a variety of small/ share plates. Everything was absolutely delicious - I usually don't even like deviled eggs but these cannot be missed. The atmosphere has the kind of crowded and bustly feel that may not be great for large groups or a quiet night out, but sometimes it is absolutely perfect.

Oh Yum!

By World Roamer |

The decor belies the deliciousness of the food. Lobster rolls are the best and the tropical design of the room demands the lemon mousse dessert. It's not your typical SF style place, and that's just fine with me. Wait staff is delightful, charming and helpful. Highly recommend as an interesting alternative in downtown SF.

Disappointing

By Bocain |

I’ve had such great food in this city that I was surprised that Leo’s was a let-down. It did have a nice aura in the front bar area, but the deeper in I went, the sadder it looked. Like an afterthought by the builder. The food was okay but an odd and very limited menu, very expensive, tiny oysters and small pours of wine. I can’t really recommend this establishment when there are so many others to try.

Such a hidden gem!

By Lauren W |

We stumbled upon this restaurant after searching for a good place for oysters. I lived in San Francisco (just a few blocks up actually) for four years and never knew this place existed. It is such a hidden gem! What you walk into from the street is an unexpected surprise. Great cocktails, oysters and entrees.

Dinner

By 425jasonv |

I really like great oysters and my 3 favorite places so far is the water bar on embarcedero, Leo’s oyster bar & in St. Helena The Press! They all have fantastic oysters. The Press has a lot more than oysters. A full range of salads tartare, lamb chops, either salmon or tuna entree and great steaks too! The Water bar has mussels, all kinds of fish entrees & Leo’s has fewer option but can’t go wrong at any of them! Service is great at all 3! Me & my girlfriend like to sit at the bar and ask if there a special or something they recommend. We also like to socialize with the other people at the bar! Just makes it a fun night and new friends. Cheers!

Great Seafood Place in SF's Financial District..

By FlyBearSF |

A buddy of mine told me about this place after reminiscing about having lived in Boston and missing the great "Lobstah Rolls" that are so popular in the N.E. I don't live close to the downtown/FiDi area, but since I had a doctor's appointment, I gave it a shot. It was during the lunch rush, which I was concerned about since the place was packed. I was able to get a seat right at the bar. I asked the bartender/server what he recommended from the "raw bar"...He recommended the oyster shooter topped with fresh caviar. (Brilliant!). I ordered the Lobster Roll, and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, and surprisingly the order came within 5-10 minutes. It was amazing, and served on a fresh artisan roll. The great thing about this roll, is that some places tend to use too much sauce to dress the lobster roll. Here, they gave me a container of red aioli, which I was able to use as much or as sparingly as possible (very pro-active). It was served with some great fries, and I scarfed it down in no time, as it was so delicious. I can't wait to come back here again and have this and try a few other things. I highly recommend this place, although it can get a little loud/noisy.

Popular trendy small restaurant.

By YpsilantiFoodie |

Make a reservation as this small place fills up fast. Food is creative, with an emphasis on seafood. A solid wine list. As with most seafood places, Leo's is not inexpensive, so be prepared. Leo's gets very noisy, so it is not a good spot for intimate dinners or serious conversations. Deviled eggs with oysters are a must order!!

Oyster Aficionado's Heaven ; Inventive Cocktails ; Over-Attentive Service

By NDF848 |

Henry from NYC is an oyster-shucker & recommender par-excellence ! Selection draws from Eastcoast favourites, like Beausoleil from NB, to subtle varieties from the West, such as Blue Pool WA .(We prefer the East for subtlety, but remain open ...) Exciting cocktails, like 'The Mad Man'(Rye, Citrus & Grenadine) and 'Bubble Bath'(Champagne, Gin & Lavender), were highlights . Dinner included 'Bites to Share' like sumptuous Wild Mushroom Toast, Hamachi Crudo, etc., followed by delicious Clams & Octopus & Lobster Roll . To top it off, desserts also were great : Apple Crisp, Glass Fevre & 'Second Wind'(Vodka Espresso Martini) . All-in-all a great experience, a bit on the noisy side, but servers need to relax and let customers enjoy ...

Hip and fun

By graylangley |

This is a fun spot. Great drinks and wine options. If your group is not crazy about oysters this is a great place to start your evening here for cocktails, then go to the next spot. Our group are avid oyster enthusiasts so the menu worked for us. The menu is sea food focused, which is what we wanted. Towers of Seafood you could not believe. Pricey, yes, but if you want to splurge on a fun night out on oysters, sushi and shrimp this is the spot. The cocktails and whisky selection are fantastic.

Great spot for fresh oysters in fun setting

By Kerryloves2travel |

Stopped here for lunch on a rainy day. Perfect spot with it's fun, tropical vibe. Oyster selection was great & excited to see they had Chatham, MA on menu- 1 of my favorites from visit there! Had a glass of rose sparkling followed by glass of white wine. Tune tartar & salmon choices made for a great light lunch. Fuel for more shopping. Very enjoyable experience!

Family Friendly + Excellent Food

By road2eighty |

I haven't written a review for a while --- just too busy. But, I got to write for Leo's. My wife, daughter, son-in-law, infant son and I had dinner at Leo's and I was extremely/pleasantly surprised how family friendly it is. We were ushered to the back dining room which is quieter, more spacious to accommodate a baby stroller and cozier. Next to our table is a couple also with an infant in a stroller. Not something you'd normally see in a classy restaurant. Staff are extremely friendly from the managers down to the waiters/waitresses. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about oysters and the food that we actually took her recommendations. No regrets there. She also took the time to suggest how much appetizers and entrees (for family sharing) to order ... because of her suggestion, we didn't over order. At the end of our dinner, the manager even offered to take our stroller through the back service entrance to avoid the crowd in the front dining area. I understood why when we went out ... no way our stroller can navigate through the crowd ... the place was packed. The oysters were excellent and the entrees fascinating. We took a selection of oysters and then ordered more of the Un Bisou California oysters topped with Uni. The bone marrow entree again with Uni is not to be missed. The halibut is something else ... fresh, juicy, delicious! Definitely, my new favorite restaurant in San Francisco!

Amazing and I don't even like oysters

By TeutonicMetal |

I was invited to dinner there and was hesitant as I don't like oysters (or so I thought!). We sampled a variety of oysters (among other tapa style food) and they were amazing - particularly the ones called leo oysters. The place was as tight as David Hasselhoff's lifeguard shorts, but it was a hopping and amazing place.

So Disappointing

By DaisyDot24 |

I had such high hopes for this restaurant, it looked wonderful everywhere I checked online. I was just a disappointment once we were finally there. The decor is really fun, and is certainly unique compared to most other San Francisco restaurants. The waitress seemed annoyed by our mere presence. All of the food was average, the shrimp cocktail was Ok, the sauces weren't a great compliment. The lobster roll was pathetic, for $34 it has twice the amount of bread as lobster. And besides the lobster no real taste. I am sad to say this restaurant is not worth the money or time.

Great Dinner

By randyharris26 |

We had a fantastic dinner at Leo's. As many others have remarked, the decor is unique and the seating is very intimate. We had a variety of raw oysters along with the excellent deviled egg fried oysters. All were top notch and our waiter was knowledgeable and excellent. Along with the bottle of wine we ordered, our waiter supplied us with complimentary champagne with the oysters, for a great surprise. For our entree, we had lobster rolls and the salmon with a small plate of the crab/lobster cake. The food was amazing, just excellently done and plated. We highly recommend

Busy, hip, great wine

By Cheriejay |

Stopped in for drinks on a Wednesday. Packed!! However friendly staff and bar service. We didn’t eat but would comeback for dinner for sure!

Good food and people watching

By Xbbush |

Very good oyster dominated menu. Service was very good and the place was rockin busy. Enjoyed the energy. The devil egg/outer appetizer was delicious. Like all of SF price of food takes some getting used to.

Great Food Great Service

By Dhow |

Obviously with a name like this the Oysters should be deluxe. And they were. I do not even eat Oysters but once I started I worked my way through a dozen of the freshest most delicious oysters. For the main course I had the Leo Louie which was one of the best Louies that i have ever met. If you are a local, this is a must do. And the service was friendly and super efficient

Kitschy, trendy, cruddy

By Fritz |

Hard to get past the really poor service to enjoy the food, then the food was basic and average. The price on the bill for shrimp was 25% more than the menu. It is a very limited menu and nothing that we had was very tasty. The lobster role is a bust, the louie salad was small and boring. Favorite waitress quote, "I can't bring a dessert menu until your plates are cleared".

Good, but pricey.

By Lois S |

Neat decor, very nice service, but be prepared for a pretty expensive experience. We had oysters (a necessity) which were very good. The scallop entree was 4 scallops ($35) and the lobster roll ($39) was fairly average and about the size of a hot dog bun. With drinks-- well, we kind of swallowed hard when the bill came. Not giving a bad review of the food itself, just be prepared for the bill!

Deception. Ask them to pour the wine you order at your table to verify they’re serving what you ordered!

By Ana N |

So, the ambiance, the food, and the drinks were all delicious. But I can’t get over a pretty serious deception…. We ordered several glasses of Prosecco and received a sparkling rosé. We casually commented that we didn’t know that there are rosé proseccos, but we’re not experts and we were distracted by fun conversation with friends. Later, we wanted more of the same and decided to order a bottle. And this is when we found out that they’d been knowingly serving us a Spanish rosé sparkling (cava) and passing it off as the Prosecco that we’d ordered. They got caught only because we ordered the bottle and they had to bring it to the table and couldn’t hide what they’d done. Look, it wasn’t expensive wine. But that’s not the point! And it’s very likely that the wines were of equal value - that’s what the nervous bartender remarked when he brought the bottle to the table. Most of us weren’t even aware of what was happening because we were busy talking. But my husband told us later what they’d done. VERY BAD FORM. NOT OK BEHAVIOR. If you order wine you should ask them to pour it at the table.

Very popular oyster bar and hangout

By rokkap |

Leo's is one of the very few popular and lively bars in the Financial District. The oysters were small but good. The welcome was good, but the service was subpar; maybe an apprentice...?

A Must Go To!

By CosmopolitanGirl8184 |

This place was so fun! From the excellent service to the decoration to the food- it is definitely a must see! The oysters are some of the best I've ever had and then I had the seafood salad which was delicious. Definitely check it out!

Small portions, large price

By 244RogerG244 |

Rock shrimp toast. 3 tiny pieces with a biteful of shrimp on each $15. Lobster roll was VERY little lobster, but lots of roll $32. Pleasant back room dining. Bar was active and too loud and cramped for dining. Dessert was good, lemon mousse with brown butter streusel as was the bittersweet chocolate mousse. Did not meet my expectation based on reviews.

Not Inexpensive, But Worth the Money

By mwhMHS |

There are actually three dining rooms; a modern one up front, a somewhat Polynesian inspired one in the rear, and a small room all the way in the back. The cocktails and wine list were spectacular. But the foie gras was one of the best I have ever had in my entire life! Yes, it is a bit noisy, but that's how a lot of these places are. It's a great place for an elegant evening out or a power lunch.

Amazing Lobster Rolls

By ongoni |

My daughter booked this place early June for us. On the way to SFMOMA, we went here for lunch. We ordered two Clam chowders, two of Leo's Devil Egg oyster, which is hot, some MA oysters and two lobster rolls. There were all great especially lobster roll was so tasty, I really enjoyed it. I preferred to raw oysters than hot oysters. Also clam chowder was so yummy!! I recommend this place to everyone who visit San Francisco.

Ignore the nay sayers....it’s good

By ATLtraveler |

Had dinner here tonight. The Leo Platter was great (oysters were amazing) the octopus a la plancha was good...not outstanding. Everything was fresh and tasty (the wine selection was great too). Is it a place i would choose for an amazing dinner meal? Not really, but this place has ambience and the selections are great for a quick meal or just a leisurely night with friends.

Great value in the financial district

By Gary R |

Enjoyed a fun happy hour here last Friday. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. The oysters, though small, were very tasty and fresh. A great value is the $25 bottle of Rosé. This was a great stop for the afternoon and I highly recommend Leo's Oyster Bar.

Very Pricey for So-So Food

By Gailyn63 |

I had lunch here recently and was not impressed. I had the lobster roll, which cost $35 for about $5 worth of overcooked lobster. Together with a $4 iced tea, my bill, including tip, exceeded $50. I don't get why people like this place, though it's cool. I go for food, not ambiance. I won't be returning. Service was excellent.

Amazing design

By euro7999 |

Great design, amazing food, fantastic service however very expensive which I guess all of SF is. Great place for seafood lovers and people that appreciate interior design.

Too loud to talk

By Arias55 |

I went with friends to this restaurant on a Friday evening. We were seated at a four top in the main area across from the beautiful bar - which is where I will sit if I ever go again. The path to the rest of the restaurant requires everyone to pass by all those diners and the space is not adequate for easy access. Although it means you are in the thick of it which is where the noise became an issue. At one point I could not hear the person sitting across from me when he spoke. Ambiance aside, the oysters were delicious, the Chowder creamy, and the Lobster Roll fresh and clean tasting. The place is loud but the food is delicious.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!

By Ozvamp |

Can't rate Leo's highly enough. Let me say upfront that this is not a cheap restaurant, don't expect a cheap meal. But for us it was worth every cent we paid. - Decor: a nice warm room although the tables are a little on the small side, but only just. - Drinks: a good selection of wines and plenty of spirits for those looking for something stronger. - Food: everything we had was just gorgeous. The foie gras toast just melted in the mouth, the oysters were all good but the oysters topped with sea urchin was a standout and so good that my Japanese partner had to order more, and the risotto had that magical creamy buttery taste that a good dish should have. - Service: outstanding. Anna made sure that our glasses were always full, she was very helpful assisting with our meal choices, and she had a wonderfully friendly personality. Leo's is probably the best restaurant I've been to in San Francisco during my 5 or 6 visits to the city.

Quaint restaurant

By Deborah C |

First I must say the service here is outstanding. From the hostess wait staff and bartender! We ordered cocktails that were fantastic. Oysters were fresh and a nice presentation. French fries and steak tartar along with butterfish were all very tasty.

Accommodating, great Lobster Roll.

By Barbara W |

Because of illness we were unable to keep our reservation, but my husband ordered the Lobster Roll and brought it back to our hotel. It was so good and the french fries that accompanied the roll were the best ever.

Fabulous light lunch

By Radiocrimson |

Really a great place to go for a light lunch amid the millions of heavy options in San Francisco. Accordingly it was well populated with lady lunchers, in fact, though the place was pretty full, we noticed that I was the only male in the place apart from the guy behind the bar. The Bloody Mer, was one of the best Bloody Marys I've tasted. The signature twist is that it comes with a shrimp and an olive on top. Great confident flavour without blowing your head off. Pretty good lunch in itself. There is a lot of lettuce consumed in this restaurant. Everything comes with a liberal pile of greenery, lightly dressed. I added crab and char-grilled avocado to mine. Delicious. My guest had a crab cake sandwich, which is a sensible size and apparently delicious. It's a very pleasant light room in traditional style. I'll be back,

Great Service and good food.

By ivna0902 |

I loved the service, the food was really good and the decor was cool (felt a little 80's like). I only have good things to say about this place. Despite having a late reservation, I did not feel rushed out of this restaurant. The food was good beyond the oysters. It did feel more like your typical couple's restaurant with a relax environment and date night vibe. So, I would avoid taking kids.

Must be a reason why is called "oyster bar"!

By picchio85 |

A beautiful, slightly retro, atomsphere will welcome you to this oyster bar. The best experience is probably finding 2 seats at the bar counter and order oysters and wine. Take advantage of the happy hour that has a bottle of rose wine and oysters for 50$. The starters and the small bites from the rest of the menu are quiet good as well, even if I would recommend the place mainly for the oysters.

Very Good

By shdubois |

Are here for lunch. Had a variety of raw oysters, deviled eggs, chowder and salad. Pineapple sundae, and cookies. Everything was delicious and service was great! Cocktails were very good also. Would definitely eat here again!

Loved the decor and food

By pickytravelerFlorida |

The hotel concierge recommended Leo's for dinner. I was a bit skeptical because hotel recommendations of restaurants are usually disappointing. When I walked in, the atmosphere was right up my alley. There was banana leaf wallpaper that was so cool. I felt like I stepped back in time but in a good way. The place was packed and the tables are tightly placed. We were seated in the very first seat. Unfortunately, you can't help but overhear the conversation at the next table which was occupied by some rude New Yorkers but I didn't let that ruin my night. The server was great. He was there when you wanted him to be there and not when you didn't want him to be there. The menu is on the smaller size. We started w the oysters carbonara. Best oysters I've ever had in my life. I had the lobster roll which was delish and my boyfriend had the shortrib which was amazing. It was on some sort of purée that came w a spoonful of peanut butter. We were told to mix the peanut butter in w the purée. Boy, was that good a combination although a bit strange sounding to me at first. The water was served in depression glass that added a nice touch to the overall vibe. Can't wait to go back on my next trip to San Fran.

Fabulous decor, food, cocktails, service!

By bschoolbound |

Basically, Leo's is good at all the things: decor, food, cocktails, service! We were say in the room just behind the main dining room and we loved the coziness of it and beautiful decor. The service was phenomenal, great recommendations, and very friendly in hip way (like you were co-guests at a wedding vs. Server-customer). Food was so yummy, especially the lobster roll, seafood bisque, deviled eggs, and raw oysters. Great date night or dinner with friends! One of our new favorite restaurants!

Awesome apot

By akelly1470 |

If you find yourself near the financial district in San Francisco would definitely check this place out. Bar area can be a little noisy but we sat at a small table in the back which.was more conducive to conversation. Food (including the oysters) was great. Staff were very knowledgeable and were open to us trying and sharing a lot of different items instead of the traditional one-main-course-each approach.

Dinner

By BPenuliar2015 |

Passed by Leo’s several times but the place was always full. Luckily one Saturday evening we passed by Leo’s and it looked like it wasn’t packed. We went in and was welcomed by Stefan. We got seats at the bar. Ordered some oysters, crab legs and Mac and cheese. Cassandra our bartender was great. We also tried the blinis with caviar courtesy of Stefan. Amazing. We are definitely coming back. Great customer service !

THE BEST

By Jenn92663 |

So let me start by saying I’ve not had good luck with Oysters in the past so I wasn’t super excited about this dinner option...but my sister booked us a reservation. Thank goodness she did. The Oysters Rockefeller were ridiculously delicious and the deviled eggs were out of this world-we also ordered a mixed Oyster platter with East & West coast Oysters. I couldn’t believe how different they tasted. If you want to experience Oysters you must make a stop at Leo’s. Also, Ken Fulk designed the interior so there’s that beauty to check out as well. Lovely place and atmosphere, make reservations in advance or get to the bar early—there is always a wait here, for good reason.

More than 5 stars

By Marsha L |

Leo's may be a new favorite for us, In a city of amazing restaurants. The deviled egg ✔️ Hamachi cold plate dish ✔️ Assortment of oysters - the Canadian one tonight was the best ✔️ Bubble Bath cocktail ✔️✔️✔️ Looking forward to coming back again!

Good Food--Nothing Special

By wwalleigh |

Our visit to this restaurant was in a group of 7. We were jammed next to the front door and adjacent to the bar. The people who got the oysters really enjoyed them. The rest of the food was fine, but nothing special. If you work in the Financial District vicinity, it's a good, convenient place but I wouldn't cross the city or come from out of town to go there.

Ok food

By noahsimanjuntak |

I first went to Leo’s in 2017 and was amazed of how floor it is. I come back a year later and it has severely changed it’s quality. Expensive and not worth it. My standards from before has been severely lowered from my previous experience. I would still come back if they could set the standard I placed with them a year ago.

Fabulous Food Experience

By MissMem |

They say you can't eat atmosphere, ambiance and decor, but it adds to the dining experience. We knew this would be expensive and every now and then it's great to splurge. The food was fabulous, the service was excellent and the drinks were quite special as well.

Lovely & friendly Service, Delicious food and Generous portions

By DGMunich |

We found this place by chance and sat inthe first room across from the bar. Lots to see as guests stroll in and very good music. OUr Waitress was very friendly and checked in on us a lot. We had woderful time and enjoyed the lobster and crab pasta and the wine. Will definitely return again during my next trip.

Delightful Surprise

By IsaacWashington |

I love the vibe, the Miami feel, the upscale clientele but most importantly the food! Delicious deviled eggs with fried oysters. Leo's salad with crab and shrimp. Everything was flavorful, had an awesome asian flair and was served with style. Service was fantastic during a busy lunch. I wish I could eat here every day.

Louder than riding on the subway

By samweinbergersf |

Limited, but tasty seafood-centric menu served in a small space with an active bar scene; if an early dinner coincides with after-work cocktail hour, you may wish to consider earplugs.

Top shelf seafood

By Dean A |

A must visit for top shelf seafood in SF. Fresh ingredients combined with the skill of a modern chef. Even something like the gator tots was a unique and delicious experience. Dishes are on the small side and we ordered a number of offerings and shared most. Lobster roll is outstanding as is the Hamachi. Great drink offerings, service was excellent. This is more high-end cuisine and it is easy to run up a large bill, worth it

San Francisco style and refinement with old neighborhood friendliness and rich experience

By Michael_7X7 |

Fantastic quaint little place - superb service. A grand success and fantastic addition to our neighborhood. The service is among the best in the neighborhood, which, with rare exception, is all ready superb. FiDi is a special place which is fiercely competitive and Leo's is quite at home. The decor is relaxing - visit and you will see what I mean.

Delectable Seafood and Excellent Cocktails

Excellent seafood and cocktails are served here in three separate dining areas. The Tiki bar where we ate, is decorated with a 60s tropical theme. The cocktails packed a punch, especially the "Mad Man." The seafood bisque with lobster and crab was delectable and a generous serving. The mussels /andouille dish and the lobster roll were very tasty and ample as well. Service was spot on. The prices were fair and moderate for San Francisco.

Such Beauty & Elegance

Leo’s oyster bar was the best restaurant I visited as a tourist in 2018. The restaurant is so Beautiful, the food was delicious, the drinks were so pretty and just as Delish. Service was great!! What more could we have asked for for our girls trip. This restaurant was so good we went back a second time before leaving San Francisco but it wasn’t as good as the first time just a few days prior. We couldn’t get the same menu items because they were not available for lunch (understandable but disappointing) the drink glasses were only filled half way but still tasted good. Food items I loved were the Deviled eggs (still having dreams about those a year later), oyster carbonara (the best), Lobsta roll was okay. My drink, skinny dip was delicious. This was an Instagram worthy and now TripAdvisor worthy experience.

Lobster Rolls, Wine and Osters

By LuxusTravel |

We walked into a brilliant room, grabbed a seat at the bar and had a cocktail... and a lobster roll. We had been told the stories and could not wait! After a fantastic lobster roll and wine, we were ushered to our table in the back. With more wine and the left side of the menu we were not disappointed.

Can't Get Myself to be Angry

Leo's did not anticipate another group overstaying beyond normal and, in the process, they were unable to seat us at our reserved time. After waiting for over 30 minutes, they finally opened another dining room at the back for our group and another one. We had every right to complain and get angry. if not for their excellent guest services. The whole time we were waiting, the hostess and manager were very apologetic and made sure we were looked after. For example, they had drinks brought from the bar (which I found out later were not charged). When we were finally seated, the manager came again to apologize and we were given complimentary starters. Throughout th evening, the waitress was superb in getting our orders. We dined up to closing time (we didn't realize that all customers had left because we were in the backroom) but never felt rushed. When the bill came, I noticed a few items missing and called their attention to which the manager said it's the least they can do for a rather bad start to our evening. And finally, they gave us a bottle of rose sparkling wine. As we were exiting, the manager apologized again. It's a far cry from other establishments who won't even acknowledge their mistakes, much less make up for them. Kudos to the Leo's team.

Lovely atmosphere and amazing food

I went here with my sister-who picked it because their menu was cool and it was designed by Ken Fulk who's is also amazing. We tasted both hot and cold Oysters and they were absolutely delicious-the New England were my favorite. You must try the deviled eggs with dynamite sauce...they blew my mind. I also had the fois gras toast, which was decadent and my sister did the lobster roll and loved every last bite of that too. Thoughtful food with a personal touch in each plate, situated in a very cool atmosphere.

The lobster roll and the lobster bisque were amazing. The lobster roll was overflowing with lobster. We also had the delicious chocolate mousse. Everything was wonderful!!! They take reservations, it is a small restaurant and fills quickly.
