Lido’s pizza, part of the Chi-Chi's family, has been in the San Fernando Valley at this location since, what seems like, the dawn of time. We've been there a handful of times and order pizza from it as well through door dash and think the food is generally pretty good. You don't get much more San Fernando Valley old school then walking in to Lido's, even on the night we went, a Friday night in the rain which was as crowded as it could be. We also have enjoyed previously there curbside pick up, or actually there in parking lot pick up where you can order your food in advance, driving to the parking lot into a designated spot, call them, and they'll bring out your food as well as the credit card machine to charge you. At least that was great until they showed up on DoorDash which allows us to order from them without actually having to leave the house. Yay America! If you're looking for classic Italian food served with generous portions found this is the place for you. They had house-made pastas, including a gluten-free pasta, and gluten-free pizza down if that's your desire. I was really in the mood for a classic dish and got myself spaghetti with meatless red sauce. It had good flavor and the portion was generous. Though the pasta itself was slightly undercooked… A little more al dente then I would have liked it, which is a new experience for me with house-made pasta which I usually find to be pretty fresh. My wife ordered pasta Primavera with their gluten-free pasta. She thought everything was overcooked including the pastor and the vegetables. She felt it needed some kind of fatty elements such as oil or more butter or something. She was disappointed. Our 10-year-old add plain spring-shaped pasta which he liked a lot. The sourdough dinner rolls were awesome and especially good with the butter they came with. I also got myself a glass of the house Chianti which was good and very generously poured. We also ordered a cheese pizza, medium sized so my kid and I could enjoy a couple slices with our pasta and have the full Lido, classic Italian experience. I've noticed with many pizza places there is a tendency to not put enough sauce on, so I asked the waitress about this at the beginning, not wanting to get, per se, extra sauce, just wanting to make sure there was enough sauce on the pie to actually taste it. She assured me that they usually put a generous amount of sauce on the pie so I ordered it as is. When it came it had hardly any sauce at all on it it was disappointing and we sent it back. The crust itself was more "bready" then “pizza-crusty”, which, was not my preference for a pizza crust. All in all that was disappointing. So overall it was a bit of a mixed experience for us. We like the atmosphere… And when were in the mood for a classic Italian place this is a fun place to go with generally good food. I definitely would specify extra sauce for a pizza in the future, and my wife has high hopes that they wouldn't overcook everything that they served next time along.

Did not feel like eating out while in the area so we picked up pizza from this little place. Just ordered one pepperoni and one plain cheese pizza and they were both delicious. The cheese was high quality and it was so good. Very reasonably priced and reasonable wait time for pick up

Lido has been around for decades and remains a favorite. Great homemade sandwiches and pizza. Antipasto salads will send a shiver to your entire body!!

The bread was burnt and the cheese taste like rubber been coming there for over 40 years and it's the worst time I ever ate there

One of the tastiest and friendliest restaurants anywhere, this is a real deal old school landmark that never disappoints! You'll be greeted with a smile and a basket of hot sourdough rolls each and every time. From pizza to pasta to antipasto you'll be happy you stopped at Lido.

Very casual small restaurant, but worth going to. We ate here over 30 years ago and colleagues sometimes bring us their take out. Seldom in the area, but we were on this occasion and so glad stopped. It was nice and warm on a cold day and we were seated at a nice booth. Ordered a pizza and a meatball sandwich to share and both were so delicious. The medium sausage/mushroom pizza was full of toppings and we could only eat one slice each after the delicious sandwich, so we had pizza the next night and enjoyed it again. Service was really good and the food amazing. Everything on the menu looked good including homemade pasta. When we left, there was a wait for tables...very popular and prices very reasonable. We will be back this year even if we have to make special plans just to eat here.

Acceptable, but nothing special. Ordered food to go. Pizza, not thin nor really thick, so I ordered it thin, passable "thinness". It was just okay, taste wise. Not really any sauce to speak of although the cheese had nice saltiness and "tang" to it. Antipasto salad barely passable, not enough variety of meat and cheese, with a tart vinaigrette. Tried the southern sampler platter. Lasagna, pasta and ravioli. Sauce was better than some although the items were again just passable. Overall, considering the prices, I would have hoped for better tasting food. Has been there a long time. Everyone has different tastes (which is why vanilla is not the only flavor of ice cream - although I still believe it is the number one flavor in America). For me not worth another visit.

Along with red leather booths & GREAT service, the food here is the best! Large portions at reasonable prices. Their antipasto salad (large or small) is the best around! They also have an all you can eat spaghetti with salad & beverage (including wine). Plus all the bread (French or rolls) you can eat! By far, the best place to eat! If you want real Italian food, this is the place to eat!

The highlight of Lido Pizza is (shockingly) the pizza. The pizza here is fantastic. I recommend the basic pepperoni and cheese - you will love it! They serve their pizza on a raised tray with a candle as a warmer underneath - very classy. The cheese ravioli in cream sauce is also delicious. And don't forget some garlic bread with cheese!

This place has been here for around 50 years. Has a great following. Just had lunch there, the antipasto had a little too much vinaigrette. Not too sure the tubular cheese in the salad is real cheese. Their medium pizza is more like a large pizza, so you'll be full when you leave, it was pretty good tasting. Busy lunch crowd. Parking in the rear of building as the front parking is sooooo small.

Saw the sign a few times, saw cops eating there for lunch and so decided to try it out. This place is awesome. The pizza is perfect, the lasagna and eggplant parm are super delish, the clams and linguine are the best ever and all finishes off with in house crafted ice cream. It fills up fast on weekend evenings but so well worth the wait. Get a booth if possible. Seriously amazing.

The service was very good and the food was excellent. The portions of food were quite a bit more than we could eat. I personally had the meatball sandwich and it was enormous.

We have been visiting this restaurant for over 40 years. We do not live close, but try to make up excuses just to have their pizza. They have the best Pizza ...maybe even beats pizza in Italy. The quality of the food is exceptional ...the sauce, the cheese, etc. Italian food on the menu is all good too. Servers are great and probably many have been working here for many years. Kind of old fashion inside, but part of the charm. They have filmed many movies here.

My husband introduced me to this Italian restaurant. And I am so happy he did ! The salads are always fresh and crispy, the veggie pizza is moist, rich and just yummy! Please do yourself a favor and try them.

I went here for dinner with a MeetUp group. The service was great, and the pizza was delicious. The salads also looked yummy and fresh.

We're vegetarians who love pizza and I'm delighted we've found this place. Onions, olives, cheese and the perfect spices combine to make this the tastiest non-meat pie around. The toppings make each piece thick and delicious. The large basic salad is good for 2 or 3 and they make the best Ranch dressing around. The efficiency of the servers is hit or miss but it doesn't really matter - they're always pleasant enough and there's rarely too long of a wait even though it's often busy. The ambience is old-timey, the prices aren't bad and the pizzas are nothing like pies dominated by crust elsewhere around L.A. The sauce blends so beautifully you don't even notice it. Pizza is one of my favorite foods and I've had it from a lot of places -- this pizza is a comfort meal, slice by slice. Nice crispy big soft drinks to go with it too.

Ok, the food is good, i will say that, and i had the meatball sandwich a few months ago and it was AWESOME!! So i was craving one a few days ago and remembered they were good so i went back to get one. I guess the prices went up because when i ordered 2 of them to go (1 for me and1 for a friend) the cashier said it was like $19.80 or something like that.....EXCUSE ME....TEN BUCKS FOR A MEATBALL SANDWICH?? does it come with anything? potato salad? cole slaw? fries? ANYTHING? so i told the cashier "No thanks" and left.....i refuse to pay $10 for a meatball sandwich so the food is real good but they are way to expensive.

Had a late Dinner with my family ..! All plates where amazing had to try everyone’s food at the table because it all looks amazing and it was all delicious will definetly reconment this Italian restaurant to friends and family! And will be visiting soon again

The meatball sandwich is the best ever!

Great pasta & salad! Little hole in the worth the visit. Tasty & not bland whatsoever. Friendly atmosphere & great staff! Definitely old italy.. not this new fancy Italian stuff.. go there if your looking for great Italian home style food!

We had a pretty big group for a child’s birthday party. This was our first time here and we were very happy that we chose this particular restaurant. Some of the kids were a little bit rambunctious at times but everybody in the restaurant, including the staff, were very kind and understanding. Indeed, there is a very friendly atmosphere. The pizza is also delicious. We would recommend the vegetarian pizza for adults. The cheese pizza for kids was also very good. Prices are reasonable and there is free parking outside the restaurant.

If you ever visit this place, come in on an empty stomach. Try their spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna and pizza's. They have the best pasta in the area. And food is always served very hot. Service is adequate, friendly and fast. The restaurant is located in an old building, and Lido's has been around for many decades, so don't expect a fancy facade. Food is affordable. Some entries might be slightly higher in price, but, believe me, it's worth it. You'll be satisfy with your experience at this place. It's one of my favorite family-oriented restaurants in the San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles. I come here very often with my family. Totally recommend it...

Lido's is in walking distance from our house, so we go a couple times a month. It is the perfect little neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's not fancy, but it feels like a restaurant. The people are great, too. But it is all about the pizza. The crust is perfect--just the right amount of crisp on the bottom, pretty thin but still good to bite into. The cheese--it's like butter. No really. It has a yummy flavor that hints at buttery. I'm getting poetic, so I'll end with this: My husband is a New Yorker. It is the only pizza he will eat in L.A.

Small little place we found by accident. The food was plentiful & hot. We quite enjoyed our food (pasta & pizza) and were treated like one of the neighbors. Would definitely go again.

I’ve been coming to Lido’s Pizza for decades and in all that time I have not been able to find a better restaurant for Italian food. Their menu is not extensive and it’s mostly pasta dishes and pizza, but everything there is superb. I love their pizza which is loaded with mozzarella cheese and my kids won’t eat anything else when they come here. Their pasta in homemade and I’ve settled for the Linguini and Clam Sauce (white), which is simply delicious and unmatched in any other Italian restaurant that I’ve eaten save a couple in Rome, Italy. The wine sauce is just right, the pasta is always al dente and the dish is not too garlicky like most places that serve this dish. I recommend that you try the other pasta dishes first, because you may not want to try anything else after having their Linguini and Clam Sauce.

Loved it! Great service and food galore! The worst part of a visit here is the parking in the rear of the store. Wish we'd known about this place sooner; forget the big name Italian restaurants and visit Lido's. Wanted to try all of the dishes offered...

Made a trip to the Valley and made a stop to Lido's on the way home. Been coming here since the 90's and the food is great. So stopped for lunch and got the Salami Sandwich and wife got the Shrimp fettuccine and the food was excellent as always! We even took a Large Super Deluxe for dinner...can't get enough of Lido's

We had eaten here before awhile ago and decided to go back. There is a large selection of food to choose from. It seemed like the prices have gone up to match places that are much more pleasant in terms of environment. The dining area is dim and not much to look at. You hear the banging of pots and pans and the constant beeping of a timer when they're cooking pasta which is pretty much all the time. We ordered a pizza and pasta dish to share. It's plenty of food so we took some of it home.

Lido's Pizza is great but not as good as Arturo's Pizza in Reseda. Arturo's Pizza has closed it's doors a long time ago but Lido's is the next best pizza for my taste buds. Large selection on the menu and at affordable prices.

We usually get take out so I don't know much about the interior. The pizza is so good we don't mind having to drive to pick it up! The salads are good. The meatball sub is also really good. Pasta is great.

This is considered to be one of the best pizza joints in the Valley, and the pizzas we ordered were Excellent. Service was Very Good and the value was Good. The place is kind of old style, dark with the only entrance from the back --- the ambiance was OK. Parking is a bit of a problem; you need to try to slip into a spot in the tiny lot behind the restaurant or else look for some on-street parking in the area.

I grew up in an Italian Neighborhood, so I lived pizza-- and, since moving in 1978, I have made the "Pizza Rounds" in the Los Angeles area. I was devastated when Lugi's, Palermo's, on Yucca Street in Hollywood closed-- Sicilian and authentic. Still, Lido's pizza is the real deal, never a disappointment-- and, it's a lot closer to me than Casa Bianca in Eagle Rock-- and they have better hours, although Casa Bianca is still a cut above. Lido's cheese is high quality, and the pizza is perfectly baked, thin-crusted, and not over-salted like a lot of places. And their meat sauce is very, very good and non-acidic. Only complaint, ordered spaghetti and meat sauce with three meatballs, and was shocked to find a sticker price of $19.45 attached. I wouldn't complain normally, but no salad or soup, and it was not an unusually large portion. Hey, it's only pasta! I suggest the family value meals if ordering anything other than pizza. And for some odd reason, the staff let a kid play a video game at the dinner table, so I was bombarded with obscenities and simulated killing for an hour. Not a real smart move for a quiet Sunday afternoon.

Visited Lido Pizza with my wife and her sister for an evening meal. The Pizza was great, and my wife enjoyed her pasta dish. The restaurant was like a journey back in time with the red leather booth we were seated in. Prices were ok for an evening meal, and what we didn't eat was boxed to go. Server was friendly and helpful when asked questions about the menu.

Years ago this place used to make good pizza with real mozzarella, NOT anymore now they offer crappy pizza with cheap cheese. A real disappointment!

hello i am a lido pizza regular, i go to lido, about once a week. great caesar salad, if you do not like croutons like i don't get it with garbanzo beans, sounds strange, but it works. the italian salad is also great, and the italian dressing good as well. pizza, i would recommend,a medium size, a little less cheese, crisp. my favorite toppings, are bell peppers, or the sauteed mushrooms, which are sauteed with garlic, and some white white is added. Juanito in the kitchen, is a great chef, and has great attention to detail. on the floor, Ivan is my favorite server. he knows exactly what he is doing. will actually give you freshly ground pepper on your salad, which is hard to find in most restaurants these days.. the pasta is home made, their marinara, or meat marinara are great sauces. but the clams, and linguine with white sauce is my favorite. there alfredo is great, its not super heavy, like so many places make. it almost is like a broth, and has just the right amount of clam juice in it, a great finisher for your meal is a scoop of pistachio gelato: toasted pistachio, in creamy goodness. or the tiramiso is great as well.

We popped into Lido's one evening when we were in the area and ordered pizza. There were three of us, so we ordered a large cheese pizza. Our waitress came by and took our order right away. She brought us the pop we had ordered and a basket of warm of dinner rolls. We were pleasantly surprised by the dinner rolls since we had ordered pizza. While we were waiting for our pizza, she came back and asked if we wanted more bread. But once our pizza was brought to us, we didn't see our waitress again. You get free refills on pop and after eating a slice or two of pizza I had drank my first glass, but I actually had to get up and go ask someone for a refill because our waitress wasn't checking on our table. Aside from that, the pizza was really good and we'd definitely return.

Trust me. Just go here if you are looking for pizza or old school Italian in the Van Nuys/Sherman Oaks area. The sign is classic and drew me in after a long day of unpacking boxes in our new place. I came in without Yelping. So happy I did. Without any expectations, I was going to order a pizza to bring home (They do not deliver). Because it was so cool and Italian old school restaurant inside, I called my guy to come and stay and eat. We ordered a pizza and an eggplant parmigiano. Since then, in one month, we have been here three times. We have had a few different pizzas, the lasagna, salads, the local made gelato and patas!! The sauces are delicious, both the classic marinara and the meat sauce. So much fun here! You can order different classic shape pastas like springs and shells and add what you want to them. They are always cooked perfectly al dente. If you eat meat, the meatballs and sausages are a MUST ADD to pastas. If you are a veg-head, they are on it with lots of yummy options to add. PLUS, they have gluten free options. The staff is super friendly. Get a booth towards the front, if you can. It gets crowded because it rocks, but it is small-ish, so you always feel intimate. Greta place for friends and family. You do not find many charming places like this in a land of lots of chains. Reminds me of old North Beach places in San Francisco.

I might have driven past this one if i didn't read the reviews first. The outside could use a little up dating, but it's what is inside that counts. The wait staff was very friendly and the place was pretty clean, but the best part was all the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen! It was very hard to decide what to order, but I choose the "made from scratch" ravioli with the tomato basil sauce....Amazing! If you are in the area you gotta check this place out!

We got take out from this pizzeria, which is more than a pizza place. It has been around for a long time, more than 40 plus years. Parking is not good during busy hours. Restaurant was bustling when we went in and the dishes coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. The place was packed (7 PM on a Saturday night with people waiting. We got a pizza and salad to go, both were very good and for sure we will be back. The portions looked big coming out of the kitchen.

This place reminds me of the family owned Italian restaurants that I grew up with in Michigan. Unassuming 60's charm the way an old school Italian restaurant should be. The food is the best! I've tried most everything from lasagna, italian beef sandwich, classic spaghetti & meatball, combo, etc. Everything tastes so fresh and really authentic. No question I'll be back many more times.

If you order a pizza, you have to get chopped garlic as one of your toppings. It adds a whole new level of flavor. I have never had a bad pizza here. It might be the best in the Los Angeles area. They load the toppings on and embed it with a nice thick layer of cheese. I've been going here for years, and I don't think I've ever ordered anything other than pizza. I'm going to have to branch out, but the pizza is just so good!! They also offer curbside pickup if you call in your order.

I have going here since I was a child. Now I take my children here. Their food is wonderful. Large portions. has not changed i all these years.

First time here was during recent 5 day trip to LA. Enjoyed dinner so much, we returned on Sunday night. Group had various raviolis, fettucinis, eggplant, etc. Good, warm bread. Nice glass of wine. Plenty of options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Prompt service, but not rushed. Only complaint was noise level--very high. Hard to chat above the noise.Parking is tight, so carpool, prepare to park a block or 2 away on street. Would return.

Fantastic!!!! Reuben our waiter was awesome!!!!! We celebrated 2 birthdays on the same day and they even gave each of us 3 scoops of ice cream with fudge complimentary. Asked the manager if he could accommodate us since it was our friends first time here. and we had been coming for years. So anyway the manager was fantastic and my friend was so happy and loved the Spaghetti/Meatballs.!!!!! And the pizza and antipasto salad was awesome as well... Keep up the good food making Lidos!!!! See you on the flip side....
Ehh
This place was just ok. I read other reviews that stated there was plenty of parking and...well...after two different weeks of traveling the greater LA area, I realize that ANY parking is a lot if parking to the locals. Having said that, there isn't a lot of parking. The lot in the back didn't hold many cars and when I arrived it was full, with people waiting to get in. I took my chances and parked my rental on the street behind the restaurant. I was there alone and promptly sat at probably the worst table in the joint...the one all the way in the back. I get it...a solo diner isn't all that appealing to the wait staff. My visits from the waiter were few and rushed, but I managed to get my order in. I got the lasagna and the portion was beyond plentiful. The dish itself was fine. Average. The house bread they serve was also fine, but again, nothing special. I had buyers remorse afterwards and wished I had gotten pizza. The inside is dated and while it can be quaint in the right light, be warned that back booth has seen better days! All in all I was glad to have tried a local joint and relieved to find parking as that was a struggle the entire time I was in LA for 2 separate weeks.
