A gem in the South Waterfront!

By seeit2 |

Terrific food and presentation with a knowledgeable and caring waitstaff. Chef sources his ingredients fresh, often the same day at local farmers markets. The wine list is unique within a nice selection of good wines from Mexico that you won’t see in many restaurants in Portland.

Try this!

This food is outstanding. I believe they refer to it as "Mexican-forward", but I will just say it's very flavorful and "clean" - not over-sauced, or too rich.

A delicious, elevated experience

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Appealing, welcoming dining space. Friendly, professional staff. Excellent food where each course offered a lovely, surprising, delicious new flavor I hadn't experienced before. I think the cuisine is described as Mexican-forward, but these creative, elevated dishes transcend a region/category. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Outstanding!!!!!

The food is simply special and spectacular at Lilia. We started with Ceviche and Sopes. Both were phenomenal. Every ingredient well presented and bursting with flavors. I have never quite had a ceviche like that it was amazing. Followed by Caesar salad (their take on one) which was most excellent. On to the pork collar (OMG) and the Swordfish (OMG again). Presentation meets amazing flavor……… Finished with a lovely desert and drinks. 100% will be coming back. The staff was also informed and helpful when we asked for menu clarification.

Save yourself a lot of money and time

Definitely not what we expected, very disappointing. Food:, it has different flavors and nice presentation but the portions are very small and the prices are ridiculously expensive. Especially for the size of the plate. Also the waiter insisted that it was ‘family style’ and we had to share. The waiter was pushy in what we had to order. The menu is limited, and apparently they change it daily. The waiter was not friendly, nor did he give good service, he doesn’t care, the 21% tip is included, good service or not. The atmosphere is extremely loud, you can’t talk, the place is small. There were 4 of us and all 4 of us left hungry and disappointed, to the point that we decided to go somewhere else for dessert, we didn’t want to be there anymore. Bill PER PERSON was over $100 not including dessert, just one drink and you will be left hungry. Save yourself a ton of money and go somewhere else.

A New Gem has arrived.

This was my wife and I first time to this place. The staff recommended the tasting menu and being very hungry we went for it. It was fantastic. Everything was so well prepared and presented so well. Service was outstanding making it a superb evening event. This will become a top restaurant in Portland.

Terrific, interesting food, locally sourced. I never thought broccoli could be that great. Dinner was leisurely but well paced. service was appropriately attentive. Space is comfortable and not too loud

Give us a heads up please

Food was amazing! We were there celebrating a dear friend. Service was inconsistent so took a while to get everything ordered. I get it is a smaller restaurant but while we were having dessert and drinks they told us we needed to leave immediately because they needed the table! It would have been nice when they brought the dessert and drinks to say, sorry to rush you but we need this table soon. Then we would have finished up to clear out in a timely manner. It felt very jarring for such a lovely high end restaurant.

Lilia Comedor delivers!

This restaurant was one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to go to. The food was fantastic. There were only 6 items on the menu- which is risky theoretically, but this chef delivered. Each dish was prepared with great care by the chef and was great. Our group of 4 ordered one of each dish and we were all thrilled. From the amberjack crudo with strawberry, cucumber and aleppo pepper to the pork collar carnitas with snap peas, spring radish and smashed avocado, I was wowed. Each flavor came through clearly and wonderfully. What a treat.

Creative, Hyper-local Mexican Cuisine

Lilia is absolutely our favorite Mexican restaurant anywhere! The creativity in the menu shines, and every course, every time is amazing. Please understand - this is not traditional Mexican food, but a delicious take on it. Food is served family style, and the tasting menu is the way to go - although seriously a lot of food. We have decided that we need to visit this restaurant every time we're in Portland!

Fine Dining with a Roll Up Your Sleeves Flare

There is passion here - a group of people who know what they’re doing, and love doing it. It was obvious that the Chef prepares his dishes with his heart. We indulged in the Chef’s tasting menu and with each dish, an explanation accompanied it. You will not depart hungry either. Portions are generous, especially for a tasting menu. Although upscale, be prepared to get a little messy. But do not stress it - it’s encouraged by the staff, and they are on standby to tidy up. An all around wonderful experience. It was warm, fun, and delicious. Offering a menu that is ever changing, with an emphasis on what’s in season, and local, I can’t wait to return to take on the next dish. It’s not often you know exactly where you food comes from, let alone the age of it, and meeting the person who prepared it just for you. Well done Lilia Comedor!
