A nice discovery...

By cubfaninco |

I have been to San Diego many times...but just never went to Little Italy. It really was a great little discover. Plenty of great restaurants and then also the other shops. Lively and a lot of activity.

no matter which place we ate everyone was very friendly and helpful food and drink is great no matter what restaurant you choose -

Enjoyable area to walk around or dine!

By daut59 |

We stayed in a hotel close by. Enjoyed walking around the area. Obviously many, many good Italian restaurants to dine in. I believe they are all well rated! Saturday's offer a nice and good sized farmer's market. Evenings are nice with the trees lit up nicely.

THE Place to find a restaurant for dinner

By Wanderlust1954 |

A few streets of excellent restaurants, side by side. While they are predominantly italian, there are ramen, japanese and BBQ places. And all we have tried are excellent. Lots of fresh local ingredients, hand made pastas daily, and a good vibe. Just park and enjoy a stroll around the streets until you find something that calls you.

Nice Area

Nice little area, a bit cheaper than Gaslamp district, lots of nice Italian restaurants. Fun to walk India St.

Lots to see and do!

By turbotravelers |

Took the trolley to Little Italy so we could walk around and see what was going on around town. Lots and lots of places to eat and it's hard to pick one. I imagine that if they're in Little Italy, they all have to be pretty good, right? Anyway, there's lots to see and do, but I guess we didn't hit the right area for shops because I didn't really see too many. We found a great place for lunch though - Bencotto. If you go to Little Italy, you have to stop there.

Wonderful night out when in San Diego

By Like2cruz |

Stayed at the new Hilton Garden Inn Bayside and it was a quick walk to Little Italy. Went to a couple microbrews - Bolt on one end of Little Italy and Ballast Point on the other end, as well as a couple places in between, finishing the night off with awesome pizza. Easily walkable and casual; much preferred this to the Gas Lamp district. Lots of places have great happy hours too!

A beautiful slice of Italy right here in San Diego

By Mara R |

Little Italy is one of our favorite places in San Diego. It is a fun place to walk around but even better to taste your way through. There are several restaurants to choose from and now there are even more places to get a drink thanks to the breweries and coffee shops. Some of my favorite stops are Monello for food and drinks, Mona Lisa for the food store, Papalecco for gelato and Zucherro for sweets. Most of all I recommend the Italian Classes at the Italian Cultural Center. I go to Little Italy every week for classes and often stop for food and a walk. It is such a special part of SD!

Good Restaurants

By Annapollino |

If you desire delicious restaurant food, Little Italy has what you want. Aside from food however, there are not any Italian shops.

Mambo Italiano

By Jedimasterkush |

This area has been around so long and has grown incredibly in size since I was last here 22 years ago. Many more restaurants and many more shops. They have a lot of streets blocked off with official logos on the barriers. They were having a great street fair going on which I'm guessing goes on quite a bit when the weather is nice. Anyway when visiting San Diego make sure to come by here and walk around. You will not be sorry if you do.

Bellissimo!

Fresh Flavorful Food

By Kimmy B |

We were very impressed with the fresh and flavorful food. The comfortable and pleasant experience was most enjoyable. From the music playing in the background to the service received, food was wonderful. Portions perfectly met expectations and freshness was overwhelming. Outstanding!

Great

Good location with easy access from downtown, waterfront by foot or by transit. Like the farmer market, all the different kinds of restaurants and shops.

Don't miss Little Italy when in San Diego

By BSV |

The headline says it all, don't miss a visit here when in San Diego. It has a plethora of great places to eat and drink, plus some really interesting other shops and delicatessens. Highly recommended Take a tip, parking on India and other surrounding streets can be tough, so you may wish to either walk if it's not too far from where you're staying, or simply take a cab

Sweet Home

By Ctfcme |

True Italian cuisine on a pretty San Diego street, genuine and still truly Italian. Not all restaurants respect the "Bel Paese" rents, but it is well worth going to and enjoying the scent of home.

Wonderful Cultural Place

By JennLexi |

This was our 1st visit to San Diego & Little Italy. It is a beautiful version of Americanized Italy filled with people speaking the language with is lovely to listen to. Parking was a nightmare therefore, I totally advice choosing a paid parking area, then walking from there. Other than that, this was a memorable experience.

Great place to visit but don't drive there take uber

By traveltheworldcs |

parking is difficult and expensive (really expensive) but the food on this street is outstanding and worth the visit. Try Civico 1845 for a wonderful dinner.

Chaos! Parking Nightmare! No Masks!

By NewRecipesForLife |

We had reservations at a nice restaurant on this market Saturday. After fighting for parking and seeing so many people not wearing masks in the crowded market amid the COVID delta strain surge, we decided to proceed elsewhere, La Jolla for a calmer, safer weekend excursion.

So many great place how to chose

By tjbales |

I always enjoy cities that have areas dedicated to any culture. Multi blocks of wonderful looking restaurants with all price ranges and everything great. Parking can be a problem but worth the trip. If you like Italian and are in San Diego you must visit.

Little Italy Is A "Happening" Place

By Don_Hobbs |

India Street is a great place to stroll. It is only a few blocks long but is a "must see" when you are in San Diego.

Love, Love Love Here!

By Jananah |

Okay, this is really about tradition! The shop owners are mostly Italian, many from Italy. The restaurants are fantastic! Just walking around is awesome. And everyone is friendly! Go Go Go

Great food and beer

Lots of great restaurants to try. Ate two meals in Little Italy and visited two tasting rooms. Do not miss.

Charming part of town centrally located to everything

This is a great place to stay in San Diego. You're close by to so many things, you can walk to many venues. The food and the atmosphere are incredible.

Nothing spectacular

By Eileen L |

We walked Little Italy a couple of times during our stay. Lots of restaurants but that's about it. Some little stores here and there.

City walk

By Dartravelgirl |

We walked all around Little Italy after lunch with my brother. Cute shops and friendly people. So many great places to eat or get a drink.

Lots of restaurants and ice cream

By AndyR2 |

Lots of restaurants and ice cream / gelato locations. Ok for a walk down the blocks. It is much like walking any other city block. The Italian vibe was evident and made for a fun walk. Worth an hour or two.

Great area to walk around

By anthony r |

Great atmosphere. Awesome food. There were quite a few unbelievable places to choose from to eat. We tried a couple during our stay and enjoyed them all.

Walk around here when hungry

By Wanderlust1954 |

Mainly this is filled with italian restaurants. A few shops, but go here when hungry. Nice little square, some gelato places, restaurants and bars.

Great place to walk but parking is difficult

By Phil B |

Always difficult to park with so many restaurants open at all hours of the day and night. But a great place to stroll and to eat or stop for coffee. San Diego's Italian section with many restaurants runby recent Italian transplants to San Diego.

must see location

By Emine Ceren D |

I think it is a peaceful place in San diego, a little similarity with Italy but the street and the atmosphere is great. We ate pizza in an İtalian restaurant found from yelp, it was quite good. You must drink something, eating is a choice. Have fun

best place in downtown san diego

By nejla8 |

Love everything about Little Italy, from boutiques, streets, and cafes and coffeeshops.. many thing to do, saturday farmers market etc

We love Little Italy but there are major problems.

By Hairycalgrad |

Little Italy is wonderful but there is a lot less parking and many more people. There needs to be a parking solution because so many parking spaces are unusable do to outdoor decks/patio built for outdoor dining on them. Restaurants are serving at a higher capacity then they did before because they have indoor and outdoor dining but the parking spaces are much less than before. Again we love Little Italy but it was a nightmare parking and we will avoid this area the next time we are in San Diego.
