Large party with lots of teens and a very happy result

By Gary T |

While visiting the city for a V-Ball tournament we took the team to this restaurant. We had a reservation and after a little confusion (since we showed up with 18 rather than the 14 we planned) we were seated. We asked for separate checks and the waitress happily agreed. Lots of different rolls and dishes were ordered and everyone was happy. I especially enjoyed the Sashimi Salad. The waitress got our orders quickly and the food was out quickly with only 1 minor mistake (a forgotten soup) which is pretty remarkable for a party of 18. When the checks came they were all correct, also a pretty big accomplishment.

Great Japanese Cuisine in Texas

By Trenham Ian Weatherhead |

We decided not to go for a tradional Texas/ but opted to go for Japanese in Dallas! We were not disappointed. The Restaurant was virtually full when we arrived (always a good sign) and upon presentation of an American Express Centurion Card we were shown to a table! We started with Sushi and this was followed by Kalbi, Korean Style Beef Short Ribs which had been grilled over an open Fire which was superb. Our main courses were Singapore Style Seafood Noodles and a Moo Shu Beef Udon, also with Udon Noodles, Shitake Mushrooms and Baby Bok Choy tossed in Spicy Hoisin Sauce, absolutely superb. I can also recommend the Pinot Noir from Oragon. Service and Cuisine excellent at a very reasonable price so a visit here is highly recommended

Good...

I like Little Katana. But, I would stick with the sushi and hot stone soup. I ordered the noodles with beef. The beef had flavor but was chewy. I will return for the sushi and hot stone soup.

Nice Neighborhood Sushi Bar

By 5016DAH |

Very pleasant little neighborhood Sushi Bar and Restaurant on Travis in the Knox /Henderson area of Dallas. Great small area outside to eat when the weather is pleasant and good people watching! Great service. Hot Stone Rice bowls are very good. Average sushi and rolls. Priced for the neighborhood, which can be expensive.

Fun night out

By Janice S |

We ate there with a group of 7. the waitress seemed a little confused and we were told they were out of a couple items we wanted but overall the food, drink and dessert was very good. the atmosphere was fun. the sushi was awesome. Everyone in the group found yummy things to eat.

Good sushi

By annagevor |

Apparently this place is very popular, but if you know you sushi (and been to Japan) - then it is overrated. Most rolls are overpriced ans the service is poor. They come by to take the order after a while and they forget about you. We walked to the front to pay the bill and it was not even that busy. They offer indoor and outdoor sitting, make sure not to get one of those tiny crammed tables in the corner. The waiter drop off our order without explaining which was what and we thought we were going to get more, but that was it. We had Edamame, then the Ahi Tower, Angel Roll, Special Dragon Roll, and Crab meat Dynamite. the bill was $74 with tax.

Go-To Neighborhood Sushi Restaurant

By Glenn Almack |

Great food, always fresh over many visits. Wide range of sushi and rolls, great presentations, as well as some unusual alternative dishes. Spicy Chicken Soup is the perfect remedy if your feeling poorly, be it a sore throat or sinuses. Consider their Stone Bowls, as they are signature dishes! Glenn Almack

New location, same great food!!

By Ken H |

By far one of the best sushi places in Dallas with a nice sprinkling of other Asian dishes. The fish tastes ocean fresh. The rolls are stuffed with all the good stuff and the rice/fish ratio is perfect. Knowledgeable staff that isn't harried even when the place is packed. Fortunately, they didn't lose a beat in moving into a larger, more diner friendly spot.

Good Specialty Rolls

By Doria S |

We had Katana roll and the Caterpillar Roll plus the Kobe beef cooked on a hot rock. The beef price was based on how many ounces you ordered. We also had cocktails and our bill was close to $75. The rolls were very big and the Katana Roll had crab meat layered on the outside and the presentation was beautiful. The service was very good. We only had sushi so can't attest to the rest of menu, although it was pricey. The outdoor seating is odd since you are eating basically on the sidewalk between the restaurant and the diagonal parking spaces. There is limited parking in this area. The other weird thing to us was that another patron came to sit in the outdoor seating area with an unleashed dog. Don't know what leash laws are in Dallas, but the dog laid next to owner and got up and approached us every time we left our seat. Weird? Restaurant have any rules about an unleashed dog? We walked around neighborhood afterwards and saw an Italian restaurant with patio seating and a woman holding a small dog. Oh well!

Imaginative sushi

By Chirapada |

Had lunch here on a Tuesday around 1 pm. The restaurant was a little less than half full. The hostess and waiters were all very helpful. It is a small restaurant. One of us had a walker and they were very accommodating in sitting us at a table that was easily accessible and where we could keep the walker near. There were specials on a blackboard. The sushi is very imaginative and the plating is lovely. Only complaint was that the fish didn't taste as fresh as I've had it at other sushi restaurants. But, it was a Tuesday. Will go back over a weekend to try again.

Love the sushi here!

By Poonamoz |

Little Katana serves some of the most delicious sushis I have had in Dallas. I simply love the Ahi-Tower! Try any sushi here..you can never go wrong!

Excellent!

By Katiejo_9 |

My husband and I brought in our four young children for an early dinner. Service was excellent! The server was very accommodating to our kids. Ahi tower and spicy Cali roll were my fav! The kids also demolished their chicken and beef dishes.

A bit disappointed

By Ikemx |

Had lunch for the first time at this restaurant, had heard good reviews and on the spur of the moment went there for lunch. They had a good lunch special which sounded good also. Had a two different types of rolls and both were at best average. Doubt very much that they use crab or real tuna. Ordered a tuna tower and it was way too sweet I will try it again one more time

great sushi and noodle place

By Eluminaz |

I was craving sushi that day and I searched on TA for a good place nearby of where my sister and I were that day. I found this place but I was worried about the mixed reviews. I am glad we were not disappointed. The menu was so varied that I ended up eating noodles instead. The ginger sauce was tasty and my sister's sushi was delicious. The service was great and the decor is very interesting. We were lucky to go past the regular lunch times and didn't have any issues getting seated. It seems to be a very popular place amongst the locals.

Yummy!!

By wwfrench |

This is always a favorite restaurant of mine and has been for years! Last night was cold and rainy and I was craving a piping hot rock bowl for here! We started with the delicious Brussel sprouts and a spicy special roll and then I had the vegetable hot bowl! Delicious !! We sat at the sushi bar which is always fun ! There is always a crowd here due to reliable good food :)

Good sushi

By beachbummin777 |

Little different twist to normal rolls they have a lot of sauce on them. Very good and fish is fresh. The toro is expensive but really good. Also the Katana roll and dragon rolls are delicious. Everything we tried was good. Just expect large amount of sauces on your rolls

Little Katana Big Quality

By shep h |

If you dream of sushi and cannot make it to Jiro's place in the Tokyo subway, try this place. Maybe start with Miso soup, Seaweed salad, edamame or the excellent Calamari with a very Light crispy and tasty batter. All the rolls are great, from traditional to more American style. Mr. Kim , the head sushi chef is an artist. And if it's not too busy (which it very often is these days) ask him to make something special of his choosing. The fish "cheeks" which are not on the menu are phenom. The miso black cod too. You can sit outside if the weather is nice. Happy helpful servers. The wine list is more than adequate. Lots of good energy in the diners and the staff.

well overpriced

By her000 |

Staff were friendly and service was fast up until we finished main course. Downhill thereafter - we had to waive to get waiter's attention to get desert menu, we had to ask other staff to get the bill, we had to wait eternally to come collect credit card Very overpriced, paid higher price for 2-course for 2 people than any other sushi in Dallas. Go to Sushi Zushi instead if you don't mind the drive - portions are better, food tastes better and it's better value for money at better service

Excellent sushi in uptown

By ScottEP |

Excellent Saturday lunch experience at this little place in the McKinney/Knox are of uptown Dallas. Plenty of sushi options and great value bento boxes for lunch. Parking in the area can be tight, though.

Sushi for lunch? Absolutely!! Best lunch value in Dallas

By BKPaints |

They offer great lunch specials - half off most rolls and the ahi tower so you don't feel guilty for ordering anything extra ;) Also went here with a group of girlfriends for girls night out dinner and the atmosphere was really lively on a Saturday night!

Not Open on Sundays?!?

By Morgan M |

My favorite sushi restaurant! I love how small & intimate the setting is. They make their drinks a bit strong, which I personally do not care for, but they have a great wine selection. My go-to choices are their Ahi Sushi Tower & their Kobe steak pieces that are brought out on a plate circled with hot rocks in which you cook your own meat on! Only bad thing is the restaurant is not opened on Sundays.

Stay Away !!!!

By Terry s |

Our party of 6 dined at Little Katana this evening. Food was fine, nice server but the kitchen and management is a mess !!! Five diners in our party completed their meal 15 minutes before the sixth diner received her meal. Our waiter informed the manager who chose to do absolutely nothing - no apology - nothing !!! IT would have been nice if she had brought our abandoned diner something, even if only an apology. Our waiter spoke to her a second time and again no response. There appeared to be a total indifference to customer service. New management is called for. Please go somewhere else. There are too many great Asian restaurants in the area to settle for Little Katana. We have dined here numerous times over the past 10 years and there most always seems to be some issue, usually involving timing, service, etc.- something related to the issues the management should address. This was the final straw for us - we won't be going back.

Excellent Sushi and Asian Dishes

By k4mconsulting |

We first visited the Little Katana last Christmas Eve and have been looking forward to returning. I highly recommend the Ton Katsu and Sizzling Dumping appetizers. All of the sushi is excellent but I am particularly fond of the Moo Shu beef noodles and the Singapore Seafood Noodles.

Favorite Sushi in Dallas

By Nicole S |

Little Katana is the best! From the quick service, friendly staff and delicious food, Little Katana is a great place for sushi in Dallas. I frequent this place a couple times a month and I've never had a bad meal. My favorite roll is the "charming" and the hot stone rice bowls are awesome.

Tasteless food

By Tafirula |

I never leave a 1-star review. But this food was inedible, flavorless and so expensive. We were 6 and no one liked the food. I ordered a hot bowl with salmon and it was 90% tasteless rice. Such a shame.

Top Flight Sushi

By Dana4656 |

I was in Dallas for a conference, took a break for lunch and I am glad I did. Had the Seaweed Salad which was very good, The Smoked Tuna Tartar was both interesting and delicious, and the Snowy Mountain Roll was a culinary treat. My waiter, Mark, was very good and attentive without being a table guest. Highly recommend to locals and visitors (Try the "Tower" saw it after I finished eating and would have loved to try it)

Always consistent

By TravelTwin71 |

This is one of my favorite sushi places in Dallas and find it to always be consistent in presentation and quality. I continue to enjoy eating there on a regular basis. They are a bit expensive. My only complaint is with their frequent diner card. Once you have spent a $100 you receive a $10 credit towards your next meal (great) the con is it is a small printed receipt and if you forget that receipt you are out of luck. Why do they not have the credit stored on your card? It would be much more convenient then trying to remember the small receipt with thermal print which will/can wear away during the 3 months you have to use the credit. The wait staff are very pleasant with a small drawback is being Japanese they at times have trouble understanding what is being asked which makes communication a bit challenging at times. I do love and recommend dining here.

Nice Asian Restaurant with

By wwfrench |

Nice Asian Restaurant with small but nice outdoor patio. The restaurant is small so you need a reservation. The food is good and consistent. I’m not a big fan of the sushi rolls here, but the tuna tower is great. I like the edamame and I really like the hot stone bowl. My son had a tempura roll and really liked it. Small bar, and service is good

Incompetent service but food is solid

By Numiswino |

The sushi and cooked dishes are solidly good. But service is consistently poor and don't even think about doing take-out. Gross delays and missing items.

Fresh Salmon!

By Sara G |

I have never enjoyed the salmon at a sushi restaurant so much. It is obviously very fresh and prepared at the perfect cut and temperature. Their salmon sashimi is to die for! Their tuna is also very very good. Monday night they have great drink specials :). Nothing negative to say. I will revisit this place many times!

Never disappoints

My absolute favorite sushi place in Dallas. The quality of food is excellent and wonderful wait staff.

Daughter & BF Day Out

By mhbh |

We took a Uber from downtown Dallas to Little Katana.. Great little restaurant, neat décor, staff greeted us warmly and very professional. Menu offerings from light snacks to hearty entrees. We ordered the stone bowls, Sushi & Sashimi and Hot Tea. Offerings include Japanese and Korean flares. Service was impeccable and very prompt. Be sure to pay attention when the server mentions the stone bowls at very hot.... Yes, very hot and keeps you entrée hot. We will keep this hidden gem on our list of returning eateries.

Just great, imaginative, excellent quality.

By bristolroad |

When we are in Dallas it is a must. Quality is excellent, service flawless, comfortable surrounding, vibrant traffic, modern and clean. the menus are interesting and uncomplicated. Staff are accommodating with out being over bearing. Located in a great restaurant and shopping area. Love the tuna and salmon towers. Lunch or dinner consistently out standing.

great sushi

By JeffandDiane89 |

a little over-priced, but some of the best sushi I have had in awhile. Tuna tower was delicious, but could of had a little more tuna. Mama special roll was the best salmon I ever had.

Authentic food, creative rolls

By CarlaEb |

They have been in this new location for a while but i still like the previous location better regarding the ambiance... the food remains high-quality solid. The quail eggs shots are delicious. Good sake and wine selection , good service and very creative rolls. Fish always fresh!

Nice experience

By 972traveler |

Better than average restaurant with mostly fresh but uninspired dishes. I would return. There are specials and happy hour.

Great Sushi, Good Service

By 2011glen |

The food was excellent. One of the two best sushi restaurants in Dallas. Little Katana and Sushi Saki are our two favorites in Dallas. The tastes are good, the staff is very nice, the service is good and the prices is around 60 to 75 for two people depending on what you have. Definitely worth it. Give it a try, don't think you will be disappointed.

Not the best experience...

By MLHDallas_TX |

We popped in here for a quick bite. It was not busy so we thought we could grab some rolls fairly quickly. While the service was attentive and quick. They did not get either one of our, kind of simple, rolls correct. They were quick to fix the problem but I was disappointed that the order was wrong in the first place.

Average sushi place

By slh2012 |

Happened to stop by one day and decided to give it a try. The food was so-so, for the price you pay, not worth it.

Great Sushi!

By Abroad_with_Ash |

Great little sushi spot that is always busy. The rolls are great! I think it's a bit on the expensive side for the casual environment, but the food really is good. It's nice that it is right of the katy trail. An easy spot to sit outside in your workout clothes.

The best family get together for sushi, hot stone bowl, and appetizers

By Susan K |

Little Katana is a family favorite. The sushi is undeniably some of the best I have had in Dallas. The service is very good and the food consistently incredible. The spicy edamame and Miso soup are a must. The sushi is never disappointing. The hot stone bowl is my favorite. This is basically a fried rice extravaganza. The tuna tower is amazing and table side preparation a must see. If you are not a sushi lover, the filet mignon is amazing.
