I really like this place. All tacos have names that I don't rember but Guac is really fresh and Ground beef taco and Carny are great.

Ok, so the place we wanted to go on our way in to Philly was closed. What an amazing thing that was, because, thanks to Draft Mag, it pointed us in the direction of Loco Pez. The service was awesome, the beer selection great and the food was absolutely amazing. It's a hidden gem that I'm so glad we found. We will definitely be back!

We tried this small Mexican bar/restaurant on an early weekday evening recently, arriving about 5:30 pm before the crowds. Thus we got seated right away and were able to get our drinks and appetizers served quickly. Within a half hour, the place was standing room only at the bar with a wait line for the few tables that they have. You need to realize this is a very small restaurant with not too much capacity to accommodate large numbers. This is unfortunate because the food is terrific and creative, served attractively by talented staff. We were told the menu specials change daily; we were lucky and got to have duck tacos - yummy! They are open for dinner every day staying open until 2 AM, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays too. Items are available for take-out, a real plus for those close-by who want their great food without the hassle of waiting for a table or having to get their very early. They only accept cash, but an ATM machine is available. We will definitely go back because we live close by and the food is fantastic - probably order as take out next time.

My 20 something daughter told me about this little place in Fishtown. She said it was amazing and she is correct. She's a vegetarian and was quite happy. Meat lovers will be thrilled at the choices you have to stuff into enchiladas, nachos etc. Lots of food to be washed down by margaritas that taste homemade--no bottle mix.

We had a really great time at Loco Pez, the atmosphere was extremely family friendly and seems like where the locals hang out. On the right day, you will find some amazing happy hour and taco deals that are great for students on a budget looking for some fun! Super vegan and vegetarian friendly!

One of the plans we had for the Easter weekend was to return to Loco Pez. This neighbourhood restaurant was hopping. We had to wait for a table but with beer in hand and hockey game on the screen the time went quickly. The guac was one of the best I have ever tasted. My fish tacos were delicious, fresh fish and topings with wonderful flavours. Happy that I remembered to bring cash this time.

My significant other and I have come here about 3 times and Loco Pez never disappoints! The happy hour nachos are great but the speciality tacos are even better. I personally love the mushroom and the al pastor tacos! Happy hour $5 classic ‘Impala’ margaritas are amazing and they offer half off brews. You can’t beat it! Also, the service is wonderful and consistent... even on busy nights. If you are in the area, check it out!

My mother requested tacos for her birthday, and she lives close to Loco Pez. We read very good reviews about the place and picked up some food there. We got some fish tacos, both grilled and fried. Also ordered chicken enchiladas and carne asado tacos. I noticed a fishy smell outside of the restaurant, which was disconcerting. When we ate the fish tacos at home, they tasted fishy and not at all appetizing. The beef in the carne asado tacos was a bit tough and was average in taste. The chicken enchiladas were ok and pretty filling, though thick and mushy; they were the least objectionable. The pico de gallo sauce was weak and the other two red sauces were uninteresting. There was not enough sauce to use on the nacho chips, but they were included for free, so I can't expect much there. The chips themselves were fresh and tasty. The vegetable filling (cabbage, lettuce, tomatoes) was average. We expected prices to be high based on the menu, but it was really not worth the money spent for this meal. The place was pretty full on a rainy Tuesday night, lots of young people, which is how the neighborhood has changed over in recent years (I grew up here in Fishtown). I had to wait 5-10 minutes for someone to come to hand me my take-out food. I forgot about needing cash, but they have an ATM machine right in the restaurant for the unprepared.

Not blown away but a decent Mexican restaurant. $4 margaritas on happy hour. Tacos 2-3$. The salsa was a bit flavorless and watery.

All great things here... Good drinks, good atmosphere, great bartenders and fun people to chat up at the bar. Let me know if you find those prescription sunglasses I lost on 7/13, OK?

We went here late at night as a group of us wanted tacos late at night. Everyone loved the tacos. Quesadillas and guac was also very good. I had shrimp tacos. Be prepared that you need cash.

So we ate brunch here and it was great! I ordered the chilequiles and asked for some tres leches pancakes on the side. Holy cow! The chilequiles were so dang good! The pancakes were yummy too, as I slathered them in dulce de leche and cooked apples. The Frida Margarita with hibiscus & guava was tasty. My husband got the scrapple tacos...I don't like scrapple but the sauce on the tacos was great! I also like the funky feel of Loco Pez. Our waitress was really fun. They only take cash so bring your dollars and enjoy!

I love loco pez, great food!! It tends to be busy but it usually doesn't take long to get a seat if none are available. (Also nice there tends to be parking available as well). The chicken tacos are good and I love the tortilla soup!! some different spices in the soup but once you get past the first shock of it it only gets better and better.

Great Mexican restaurant. Order guacamole and chips. The salsa is more like a pico de Gallo. Tacos Burritos and Quesadilla with whatever filling you want. Burritos are huge almost enough to share between 2 people. Tequila menu with many varieties, many types of beer Skip the Sangria. It is very bitter CASH ONLY

Went there with my vegan brother for dinner. I hade great non-vegan tacos. Love the chicken!! He had what he considers the best vegan food in Philadelphia. I have to admit I tried his vegan chorizo taco and it was damn good. The service is friendly and fun. We watched the Packer vs. Chicago game and the whole bar was into it. Also, what ever you do don’t leave without trying a margarita and if you are really adventurous I dare you to try a CAR CRASH.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic happy hour date: nachos, tacos, margaritas. The food is very high quality…super vegetarian friendly and very reasonably priced. The service was EXCELLENT: our waitress was friendly and offered awesome recommendations.

Awesome place. Cash only so know that up front. Went for Sunday Brunch and it rocked. All the drinks and food have some neat twists and kicks. The portions are generous and delicious. Will be back here again for sure. Everything tastes fresh and comes out just how you want it. Great place all around.

Really have enjoyed the food on two visits. Staff very helpful when asked for assistance choosing. Sometimes you pay a little more than it seems to be worth but I just give bonus points for taste.

I go here all of the time. The tacos are authentic Mexican style. My favorite being the Al Pastor tacos. A can't miss app here is the Nachos de Kenzo. These nachos are epic and oh so delicious. Their margaritas are strong and tasty. This is a must if you're ever in Fishtown.

In advance of a long evening at Festival Pier I thought it wise to have a full stomach and avoid the high prices at the venue. Loco Pez has been on my radar from some time so we entered and sat ourselves across from the bar. At first glance the place seemed small but offers ample seating in the back. The next thing I noticed was the 'Cash Only' sign (there is an ATM machine). The helpful waitstaff assisted us in Tacos selection. These are some of the tacos offered: Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Pollo, Cochinita Pibil, Chorizo, Fish, Shrimp, and three vegetarian choices. We ordered chicken enchiladas, numerous tacos, and beer. The sides that came with the enchiladas were very good. My only criticism, the rice was crunchy in spots. Loco Pez really has some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. Considering the price of tacos is around $1.85 to $3.00 that makes Loco Pez a great bargain and perfect for sampling. Friendly Bar atmosphere with a Gastropub soul.

Great drinks - get a manhattan. You can't go wrong! Flavorful shrimp tacos. Tasty beef. Spicy quacamole with just a hint of cilantro. Sit at the bar and watch the tattoo crowd drift in and out.

Nice stop for mexican food and margaritas. Always crowded. That's a drawback for me because I never know how long the wait will be because it seems as though the customers linger. Young crowd whom seem to enjoy their margaritas longer than I.

Fun place in Fishtown. The nachos are wonderful. You choose the meat. The shredded chicken is excellent. Tacos are just ok. Watch Twitter for dollar night, otherwise order more nachos!

Loco pez is great for happy hour with $3 drafts and $4 nachos. They also have $1 taco night once a week. Their brunch is on point. Everything I've ever gotten there has been awesome. Cochinita burrito with diablo (black) beans and jalapenos is the best.

10/15 min walk from the subway but totally worth it! Once a week they do a 1$ taco night which is a real deal. Of course is super crowded so you want to go there really early. The place is nice, not too big. My favourite part is the happyhour with 4$ margaritas and 5$ huge nachos. If you like mexican food and want to feel satisfied without spending all of your money go there between 5 and 7 and you won’t be disappointed!

This doesn't really count as travel considering I live a block away from Loco Pez, but I thought it was still worth posting. Loco Pez is a great place for some semi-cheap delicious Mexican food. Very good tacos, great nachos, and maybe the best quesadillas I've ever had. The prices are pretty reasonable at all times, but the real deals come at happy hour and on one random day each week. Happy hour gives you half price nachos and cheaper margaritas. And one day every week it's $1 tacos starting at 5pm and going all night. It's obviously a good deal, but the tacos are really good making it pretty amazing. You can find out about it by following their Instagram where they announce it the day of. That might not be practical for visitors, but maybe you'll get lucky. Just expect a crowd if you don't show up right at 5pm or much much later.

The food here is delicious! This is a local gem in the upcoming fish town area. The service is great and there is plenty of seating outside with great service. I had brunch there and the “Sopa De Tortillas” is definitely the best I’ve ever had! Very creamy and you can taste all the different fresh components like the Guacamole and the tomato broth is so rich and made with love. The Charro skillet is served with big chunks of Carne Asada and topped with delicious hollandaise sauce. There is a lot on the menu that I still want to try so this will definitely become a destination for me. There is also plenty of free parking around which is a plus!

I almost don't want to review this place. The more people that know about it, the harder it will be to get a table. Nestled deep in Fishtown, this hipster haven brings you amazing south of the border fare in an ultra casual atmosphere. Happy hour boasts $5 margaritas and discounted nachos. The tacos are cheap enough that you can sample many, and I highly suggest you do as I have yet to have one that I didn't enjoy. Don't forget your cash! They don't take cards.

Stopped for some brunch and had a wonderful skillet. Must try the waffle fries, and next time I'm going for the burrito.

Ended up here for dinner after a long day of driving. the place was hopping! Drinks were brought with chips, salsa and guac right away. Food was tasty and according to my friends so were the margaritas. Mains were good, nothing exceptional and portions a good size. Service was good, though felt a little rushed. A good local haunt that doesn't take credit cards.

love love love the tacos and margaritas, parking can be a bit tricky. Suggest arriving early for best parking and minimal wait time

Let me preface this by adding When I chose to get a house it needed to be within 3 blocks of this place. (Stay with me here) Ever seen the movie Field of Dreams? That's the one with the quote "if you build it, they will come". Well when James Earl Jones walks into the cornfield and disappears in the end, everyone thinks it's heaven. Well it's not, it's better, he's walking into Loco Pez... Nothing at this place is bad, everything is good. Everything... The food, the drinks, the service, the people, everything. If your looking for top notch Mex food that would even put Poncho Villa to tears, just go here...

super good. chill vibe. Great nachos. Get the nachos. Get the quesadillas. Get everything. Waitresses were very kind and personable. Not too loud. Good place for great convos.

Great tacos, small but good. Cash only though so bring your pesos. It's not in the greatest of locations but it's getting better. They had incidents here so don't stay there too long at night. They have random $1 taco nights. I got the shirt for being on the gordo board.

What a great neighborhood bar and restaurant. We went in the early evening for drinks and a snack on a Saturday. The place was just getting busy. By 6:30, the place was jumpin'...in a good way. The crowd is eclectic and looked to be mostly local. There were families, couples and groups of friends. I like that. The noise level was not intrusive. We had no problem carrying on conversations from one end of the table to the other. The wait staff are knowledgeable, efficient and unobtrusive. We had not been before and it took us some time to decide what we wanted. Our server took the delay in stride. The drinks...oh, the drinks! I had the Bloody Maria with habanero-infused tequila. It was zesty and flavorful. My friends had the same, but made with beer. It was also flavorful and they enjoyed the fact that it was lighter than my drink for that time of the evening. We would highly recommend both drinks. We had been knocking around Fishtown all day and had noshed here and there, so we decided on small plates. We ordered a plate of the seitan nachos (nice to have a veg option). They were just right. Chips were not a salty, greasy mess and the toppings were plentiful, but not ridiculously overloaded. They were yummy, even to the carnivores at the table. 2 of us had the shark taco, a special that night. It was delicious and just the right size for a light bite. The flavor of the shark was highlighted...not drowned in the flavors of the toppings. The others had their regular tacos. They are small, 4", but we appreciated that we could order multiples and/or various fillings. They're great to have along with a beer or drink. This is exactly the kind of place that I wish I had in my neighborhood...or even within 20 miles! Great food. Great drinks. Great, casual, welcoming atmosphere and great value.

The worst thing about this restaurant is that it is two neighborhoods away. This place has fantastic drinks and incredible nachos. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the jukebox has great music. I wish I was there right now.

Took an Uber to Fishtown for dinner & drinks at Loco Pez. Their happy hour is 5 pm to 7, with great margaritas & nachos. This is an unpretentious informal fun bar & restaurant, great quick service and yummy tacos, burritos and quesadillas. Thumbs up!

What a great little neighborhood tappy with good food. Great energy here. Lots of hipsters at the bar and sitting at tables, good music, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Went for happy hour, the drinks were good. Had a blood orange margarita, which was refreshing, not sweet. Meanwhile ate some ok chips with a very nice guac - lumps of avocado in the mashed guac, nicely spiced. Ordered up a chorizo taco and a pork taco. Both were good, but the chorizo taco was exceptional. They are small tacos, which was perfect - you could order several different kinds. Flan for dessert was okay, but the trendy little apple slices on top did not really add anything to it. I intend to come back again and again! Three of us ate and drank (2 rounds each) for about $40. Amazing!

Great vibe! Service is great and fast. Food is awesome from nachos, tacos to burrito, quesadillas. Seriously you can't go wrong with this place. Did I mentioned they have amazing drinks? Margarita is good. They also have vegan choice here. The portion is huge. Cash only guys! My favorite Mexican spot!!
Delicious chorizo+potato tacos
Came in for lunch last week. Decided to bring my friends back tonight because the chorizo and potato tacos blew me away! Great guac too. And whatever recipe they use for salsa verde - I wish I could buy it by the gallon. The tacos are a bit on the small side, but that's not really an issue considering they're 2-4 bucks each. Cool atmosphere with a pretty great soundtrack on the radio. (I head Black Sabbath, Bowie and Talking Heads tonight among many other great tunes that the Negra Modelos are right now making it hard to remember!) Check this place out!
