We found this place as we ended up doing most on our recent honeymoon to San Francisco after being tired of the wait and recommended restaurants and searching what was near by. At 1230 on Saturday, the hostess got us right in and held out luggage for us before our trip to the airport. Brunch Menu was diverse and reasonably priced. Waiter brought over fire roasted tomato salsa and fresh tortilla ships and large pitcher of water for us. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito which was very good and plenty of food. I ordered Taco Tropical (panko crusted shrimp with tropical relish) which was served on a large thin medallion of daikon i think. My food was amazing though portion was a bit small. Luckily my wife couldn't finish hers and we both ended up having more than enough food. Had a great meal at a reasonable price. I would definitely go back.

Went for dinner with family.Serves Jelisca Mexican cuisine. Tried the same first time and found it awesome . Full Bar, Great ambience, Location most Central and Unique decor. Staff very courteous and prices pocket friendly. On agenda for second visit. As Restaurant Level 15 Expert I would fully recommend a visit to all.

A friend recommended that I go to Lolo on my trip to San Francisco and I am glad I did! The restaurant is very eclectic and cool, and the food is simple, fresh and so tasty! They had a nice selection of drinks and wine. The place was packed and a bit loud but still fun nonetheless. The dessert menu was a bit lacking, that was our only complain. I would definitely go there again!

Spunky hipster modern Mexican, hard to get booking but very good service. Itâs dark in there so hard to get good photos. Taco Tropical, Carne Asada, Guac, all very very tasty. However, the dulce de limon is what blew our mind. Itâs super lemony with a thin layer of cake. Very interesting and yummy looking cocktails!

Booked out on the nights we were in town so we turned up at opening at sat at the bar where they have full service. Delicious food and drinks - other reviewers are spot on. Although we were at the bar, we were not rushed at all and had good banter with the bar tenders.

This was one of our favourite dining experiences in San Fran. Bustling on a Tuesday night, we lucky to have reserved a table. Excellent Mexican tapas with excellent service!

Wonderful tapas restaurant w/ a Mexican influence. The dishes, which used fresh ingredients, were very creative and delicious! Some of the items we ordered were taco tropical, ceviche and lamb sliders - they were all fabulous! We'll definitely return to Lolo's when we go back to San Francisco!

When I eat in a place like this, I am reminded how much I adore true Mexican cuisine. One of the best meals I have had. And you cannot go wrong. Sipping the Sangria and perusing the menu I just threw up my arms in frustration. Everything sounded wonderful, so we asked our server to make a recommendation. I had another Sangria! Everything was amazing: the sliders, the Panela, the Sopes calamari. The service was excellent. And the decor? FUN! When I return to SF, I will come back. Three weeks later I still remember the meal and our stroll along Valencia Street after eating.

The Mission has many restaurants, but this Mexican establishment is one of the best. We started with grilled Brussels sprouts appetizer which was fantastic. We then shared the kale salad and grilled octopus as main courses. The portions were good sized and the octopus was absolutely unbelievable. Definitely on the return visit list.

This has been a favorite of mine since they first opened their location on 22nd. The Valencia street restaurant is large but still commands a long wait. Owner is a doll, food is great especially the fish tacos, and good drinks/sangria.

Diner walk in 4 people. Quickly seated in a cosy booth ( pure luck) service started out a bit slow but quickly picked up the pace. The margaritas ( both tequila and mezcal) were excellent but painfully small for 16$. The selection of tacos and tapas were excellent but again not seriously copious for the price point. The wine list was of no concern, underwhelming offers at high prices. An excellent but overpriced meal

4 of us went to Lolo for brunch/lunch. This is a fairly small restaurant on a nice street in the Mission area. The decor is artsy and fun. It's fairly crowded since the place is popular and the space isn't large. The food was outstanding. I was recently diagnosed with a gluten allergy and they had a number of gluten-free options. Mine was terrific and the rest of my party was very happy with their selections as well. Moderate priced. Our server, Sebastian, was friendly, knowledgeable and funny. I am normally reluctant to go to Mexican restaurants because they all seem to do the same thing, and not usually all that well. Lolo is definitely an exception, Highly recommended.

We were lucky enough to snag a table during a weekend lunch/brunch. Extensive menu to choose from. Don't be in a hurry if they are busy but it is worth the wait. If you are not happy with spice then make sure you let your waiter know. If you like a bit of spice then the level of the food is great. If you want more spice the waiter offered a homemade habanero sauce that was fantastic. Two of us got the pork butt which is an excellent melange of tomatillos, potato, port and spice. The avocado and smoked trout toast was excellent in all aspects. The salad was so so.

I came here with a friend and split three dishes - the fried avocado tacos, the Brussels sprouts, and the three cheese tlacoyo. All three dishes were delicious! The tacos were definitely our favorite - they manage to pack a lot of flavor in the little tacos. The sangria and margarita were also delicious! Great vibes all around - would definitely recommend!

We came here on a Thursday night - it was very busy so we were glad to have made a reservation. Service was excellent and we chose a number of small plates. Everything was very tasty! Definitely recommended. The area is very lively.

Honestly between the food, service and drinks this place was fantastic. Great small plates to share. We enjoyed the empanadas, carnitas, tortilla soup (mmmm), and much more. You can't go wrong with also trying something new. My son wanted the octopus and I'm not a big fan but we ordered it. What a treat! Thanks to our amazing waitress and staff -- super personable and patient! Take-away -- try the prince specialty drink and tortilla soup Will go back for -- surprisingly the octopus and fried avocado taco.

We went to LolĂł after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were not disappointed. It is a good idea to make a reservation - the place were fully booked and people kept getting seated even as we left around 10pm. The food is super tasty and the portion are large (!) even though the menu is set up as a number of smaller dishes that you can share. My boyfriend and I shared five and left very full. Can recommend the fish tacos and the salads as well. They also serve an excellent guacamole with tortilla chips!

We took a chance as a walk-in around 8:30pm on a Monday. The place was bustling with people and we felt instantly at home. The friendly host accommodated us immediately with a table for two. We had guacamole and tortilla chips as a starter, which is normally how we judge if a Mexican place is good. The guac was fresh and flavourful and the tortilla chips with salsa seemed bottomless! What a great deal! Also, we orderedc the house margaritas, which were delicious and authentic. Tart and cold, the way it should be. Our mains were the fish tacos (my favourite at any Mexican establishment) and the in-house special of salmon and bacon tacos. Both blew our minds! The food is fresh and full of flavour. The service is quick and effortless. All in all one of our favourites in San Fran.

My fiancé and I came here for lunch after walking around Hayes Valley/ The Mission and on our way to Delores Park. It is located in the heart of a very cool neighborhood. The food was amazing! I had the tilapia tacos and he had the pork, and they were both so delicious!!! Would highly recommend for lunch or dinner when you want some good Mexican food at a great price!

We had wait a while to be seated, but it was worth it! Food was spectacular, the service was quick and kind, and the cocktail/drink list was great.

Always so fresh and the scenery is soooo creative. Lovely experience on Valencia St. Try the taco tropical. Also their brunch is super tasty. Be sure to make a reservation as the place fills up fast, so much easier!

We went to many restaurants during our trip to San Fransisco and this was agreeably everyone's favorite. The staff was incredibly friendly. We waited briefly as we did not have reservations and they were so accomodating working to find us a place at the bar. The drinks were delicious and the tapas unbelievable- carnitas were to die for. The decor is quirky and fun- very inviting.

Saturday night in the Mission. Absolutely buzzing, lots to goggle the eyes of a visitor. We booked in advance (fortunately) using the online booking system, 9.30 was available. We turned up a little early and were directed to a nearby bar for a drink while we awaited our slot. The table was ready at 9.30. The margarita was delicious; the food was what I would call modern Mexican - wonderful flavours done in an interesting but more or less recognisable style. Loved the fish tacos, and the other small selections were also great. It ended up being a bit like tapas. Service was fine, the place was busy and very lively; and the decor was a constant fascination. Brilliant night.

This isn't a mom and pop massive plate of food style restaurant. But if you want REALLY good food thatw delicious and inventive. This is a really great place. Great service. We were there early and walked right in no reservation but when we left people were queing.

We actually went to the Lolo on 22nd street, a block from the one on Valencia. They had the most delicious ceviche and brussel sprouts, we all had a big variety of food. They were so nice and showed us how to make them! Great atmosphere, adorable staff. Can't wait to go back.

Busy but great atmosphere. Good Margaritas, great food! Had our entire dinner at the bar, which was very Nice and cosy. Would very much recommend the papas bravas, beef tacos and chicken gorditas. And the guacamole!

Vety tasty mexican food is served here. Everybody were polite and friendly. Food came quickly. Only minus is that the place was so noisy at lunch time. Decoration is also interesting.

This is a noisy, happening place. But not too, too noisy. But the best happening thing is the beautiful food. Creativeness, freshness and flavor are the keywords for Lolo. The Ceviche was fresh and had a wonderful combination of citrus and the sea. The Tuna Tacon was just beautiful with a rich and sweet flavorful piece of albacore. The pork had the right balance between fat and meat so it was moist and tender. For me the hit was the carnitas. Yes, the meat was tender and flavorful, but the corn tortillas were just out of this world with fresh corn taste. We also had a nice fresh peach salad, special of the evening. The flan was perfect, in the Latin American style, which means it is a little denser than its Spanish cousin. Wine list is quite good. Service was excellent. The preparation creative and oh so lovingly done. And it is oh so good. Many dishes can be shared by three, or ordered for three.

Very good place to try modern Mexican food at a resalable price in the fun area of Mission district. Drinks are also pretty good, and the decoration is fun/unusual.

Best mexican place I've been. The place is nice, good service and excellent food! All that we've ordered was super good!

We had the best night at Lolo! We got a tip from a local to check out restaurants in the area and ended up strolling past this place. It sounded good based on the reviews we could pull up. Unfortunately, all the tables were booked solid for the night but we hung out for 20 mins and ended up getting two seats at the bar. What followed was an fun-packed evening of delicious food and fun cocktails. We had beets and roasted sprouts, tacos and croquettes, empanadas and diablo shrimp ... and three cocktails each! Everything was so good. And when our bill came at the end of the night it was quite reasonable. If we ever go back to SF you can bet we're going to make a point of coming back to Lolo.

Yes, I really ordered all of that! I went here for my friend's birthday and their food is amazing! Everything on the menu looked delicious, and well, it was. Had a really nice time with my friend and everyone was very accommodating. I would highly recommend making a reservation online during dinner time, as it does get crowded. Sitting at the bar while you wait (if there is room) however, is not terrible. Prices vary from about $11 - $28 for dinner. All definitely worth it! The best part? (Apart from the food, of course) The check comes inside a mini-boot! Very adorable and definitely something to remember your experience by.

The service is always excellent and the menu is really, really good (lots of seafood dishes). The Mezcal selection has several hard to get brands and they also have Sotol and Bacanora. I havenât tried any of their cocktails but the names and ingredients are creative. Lolo gets busy fast so arrive early! This is definitely my go to on Valencia.

Great bar; great atmosphere; brilliant margaritas; excellent food. We hadn't booked so had to queue for about 40 minutes after we arrived (on a Friday night) but were able to stand by the bar with a drink so it wasn't too tedious! Staff were nice; the server was particularly sweet and ordered us a cab with no quibbles at the end of dinner as our internet wasn't working. Highly recommend this place.

Went here on recommendations online. Really buzzy atmosphere-a lot of people by the bar. Food was really good, if a bit on the pricey side for relatively small portions. The price you pay in San Fran we discovered! I had the fish tacos and they were delicious.

I went here on March 9th for my birthday, I ordered fish tacos, lamb sliders, guacamole, and their queso fundido. Their queso fundido, fish tacos, and lamb sliders were very good. The guacamole went with their chips. The only downside is that this restaurant is pretty expensive. The guacamole was 7 dollars! Like really, I have never seen guacamole that expensive! Other than that, it was pretty reasonably priced, I guess.

This was my second visit to Lolo's and it didn't disappoint!! The eclectic decor is wonderful and so is the food. I had the beef taco and it is not your run of the mill mexican taco along with an excellent margarita!! Juan Carlos even remembered me from my last visit in April for brunch and that I liked Bombay gin. Needless to say I was quite impressed!! It is a must, the fried avocado tacos are put of this world along with the jalapeno bloody Mary!! So for a different take on mexican food you have to try it when you are in San Francisco. You won't regret it!! It's the best and can't wait for my next visit!!

fantastic place! loved the decor, attitude and the food of course ! we tried 7-8 dishes and all came outstanding and very reasonably prices. my ceviche was to die for. i highly recommend for authentic mexican food experience

Why is there so much hype about this extremely overpriced place? The food is ok but the quality that is constant is a kind of lumpen heaviness that ruins almost everything. Good example the squid ink masa and calamari. Looked nasty, no flavor, and heavy. Best thing were the cocktails and they were over priced. We ordered quite a bit of food (mistakenly) and it was mostly hard to tell when we were eating one plate or the other. Fish tacos, eh? Fried avocado heavy and greasy. And so on and so forth. We'd rather go to an inexpensive family place in the Mission that serves old-fashioned Mexican food than this limp attempt at an update.

Really nice avant gard mexican cuisine, the ceviche was very tasty. We werent very lucky with their house wine

My sister lives in the City and is Vegan. I come to town (typically sand my kids) and I love all the foods. This has become our absolute go-to because it really. Ant be beat. Super fun kitsch interior that I think is always changing. The drinks are super fun and Iâm typically a beer gal. They have a lot of not-sickeningly sweet options, which I appreciate. The tapas re some of the best Iâve had, and in all sincerity, hold up to those in Spain. Serious wonât be disappointed! Unless you donât make reservations.... the perhaps you will be slightly disappointed, as the wait can get a little out of control.

Great food in a quirky restaurant with a lovely vibe. Attentive service - staff could not do enough to help , and super organised service

This is a fun restaurant in the Mission with inventive (non-traditional) dishes. The atmosphere is lively and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. Iâd highly recommend the fried avocado tacos - they were great! Itâs a popular spot, so be sure to grab a reservation before going.

The cocktail menu is slimy and difficult to read; the drinks not particularly interesting and way overpriced, the noise level makes conversation impossible and the food was only passable.

We loved our tacos! They were different from any tacos weâd ever had. The flavors were delightful and the service was great. Would definitely recommend for a unique Mexican experience in San Fran!

Delicious food, but small portions as it is tapas. Very pricey for the amount. Excellent cocktails - although the bartenders go to town on shaking the drinks. Decor is eclectic, but has a fun vibe. Would definitely stop in here to grab a pre or post dinner cocktail, but would be tentative to spend money on dinner here again.

My sister took me and the family here to celebrate her wedding. Firstly, I loved the decor of the restaurant, so bright and inviting. The cocktails were amazing but best of all the food. There was something for everyone (including my dad who 'doesn't like spicy food'), the food looked amazing and there were so many great flavours. I was so impressed and this is top of my list for next time I'm in San Francisco. Yum!

We were lucky enough to stumble upon this place without checking out its reputation first so were really pleased when it turned out to be great. Little plates to share and our waitress was really nice in helping with ingredients on the menu we didn't understand. Panko prawns were amazing and I loved the decor!

We spent a few weeks in Peru in May 2016. It was a revelatory trip, the food was so good. We're now visiting the local Bay Area eateries with Peruvian offerings and Lolo is a keeper. The ambiance is festive and colorful, the bar is busy, and there is indoor and outdoor seating. The bar and wait staff were engaged and attentive. We tried the Leche de Tigre and it was terrific. The right amount of heat balanced by lime and sublime shrimp. Picante! We also had the ceviche de pescado, with sweet potatoes and giant corn and fried plantain chips. So good! We also enjoyed the shrimp causes and fish tacos. Flavors are fresh and clean. When our plates were clear, we both remarked that we could have eaten the meal all over again. We'll be coming back to Lolo, and bringing friends and family.

Sunday morning we had brunch with our friends at this popular Mission restaurant. It is charmingly decorated with an interesting menu. We started with drinks and then ordered guacamole for the table plus the Huevos Rancheros and other dishes. The food is excellent and unusual. The drinks are superb, and we tried three different kinds. Our server appeared to have enjoyed a fun filled Saturday evening, so things did not run perfectly smoothly. Go and enjoy.

Made reservations which made helped for a Friday night. The staff was really nice and attentive. The atomoshpere is cool and it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be, but it seems like it usually is. The food was good overall. They give you chips and salsa at the table. We had two orders of the tuna tacon, ceviche, and two cocktails. You literally get two tacos for each order. The tab at the end was quite pricey (~$70) for what we ordered. Everything was good, but for that price it definitely won't be my go to spot.

It was great place, as soon as we walk in they made us feel really welcome. The food is amazing great flavor, perfect presentation. And That drinks were also good.

Restaurant was incredibly busy with a busy atmosphere. Got a bar spot and service was great by the bartenders. Pork belly salad, Diabla Shrimp, and the ceviche are a must-have. Also some really creative mezcal drinks.

We came to Lolo's for 'Sunday Brunch', our amazing waiter Sebastian made several amazing recommendations we went with the fried brussel sprouts, taco tropical, tuna tacon, and panko avocado taco we were not disappointed. Everything was absolutely amazing!!! He also recommended the gin and tonic...so delicious I am not normally a gin and tonic drinker but it was absolutely fantastic! Highly recommend this restaurant!!! I can not wait to return on my next visit to SF!

Between unique cocktails - e.g. anejo tequila, chili liqueur and vanilla bitters - superb ceviche and other appetizers, and a fine choice of main dishes, the food rocks at prices that are very reasonable for SF. Service is quick and efficient yet cordial; noise level is high, hardly surprising for a small space with a mostly young and clearly enthusiastic clientele. Only downside is a thin dessert menu, but hey, it's fundamentally a Mexican restaurant only so much more imaginative than most.

Walked in and took a spot at the bar on a Thursday night. Ate Brussel sprouts with hazelnuts, creamy and spicy shrimp with rice, and a beautifully cooked medium rare sirloin. The sirloin came much later than the other dishes, and the cheesy peppers served with the steak were ok but I found it to be a weird pairing. Was a great night though with fast friendly service.

Lolo is without any doubt my favorite restaurant in the Mission District of San Francisco . The atmosphere is young , full of positive happy energy . The staff is multicultural representing many countries within Latin America , with usually a delightful host from Spain . I usually sit with my wife at the bar section where one can enjoy terrific sangria along with very exquisite food that are of a truly creative variety with the most spectacular flavors one can imagine . Great Latin American food !!

Busy buzzing atmosphere and food very good. Would recommend. Had to wait 30mins for table on Wednesday so worth booking. Found staff friendly.

As a family with two teenagers, it is not always easy to choose a âcoolâ place where food is good and reasonable pricing. This is it. We all really enjoyed it and it is a great environment. Thanks to Stephanie for getting us in as it is very popular. Good vibe.

We had a party of six arrive at Lolo around 10:00 on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar for about 15 minutes while waiting on a table, and we all enjoyed wonderful and beautiful cocktails. My favorite had a garnish of rosemary and lemon, so each sip included the wonderful aroma. Once seated, we ordered about ten dishes to share, including the shishito peppers, brocollini, brussels sprouts, crab croquetas (one of my favorites!), and huitlacoche ravioli (I wanted to lick the remaining sauce). Every single one was delicious. I also loved the chips and delicious salsas. The service was great, and the bill wasn't nearly as high as expected. I would definitely return to Lolo!

We visited this hot spot on a Friday night around 7:30PM. When we arrived, the friendly hostess told us there was a 45 minute wait or we could stake out a spot at the bar when it became available. We opted to wait for a table, which only took about 20 minutes. Once sat, we ordered cocktails and a few appetizers. The cocktails are fun and delicious and the food here is flavorful and fresh. The tortillas are hand made, the salsas are made from scratch, and the meat and seafood is prepared very well. I recommend the octopus. Dessert is also a must! This is a great place if you're celebrating something with friends or family or just want a night out with your partner. Servers are also very friendly and attentive.

I stumbled upon this restaurant while strolling the interesting Valencia street scene. It's essentially a Mexican themed eatery with an open kitchen and cocktail bar. It's very cheery inside and the decorations are playful and creative. One wall is decorated completely with Mexican Lottery tickets and 1/2 of a full size sedan is affixed to another wall. The cocktail bar seats about 20 folks and always seems to be lively and fun. The menu is limited but with some very good options. It was here I was first introduced to Shishito peppers -- a milder version of Padrons which are roasted in olive oil and served with sea salt. Their brussel sprouts were delicious with a tart vinegary sauce. They have a variety of taco dishes featuring fish, beef, and pork. The tortilla soup was excellent. This is a busy place so reservations are recommended. When you are done, do spend some time to check out the Valencia Street scene as there are many interesting shops, bakeries, chocolate purveyors and the like.

We come every so often when we can avoid a wait, which can be long on occasion. Most recently we sat at the bar and had both great food and service. The small plates are exactly that, but damn tasty. Tuna tacos were very fresh (ahi) and the "cooked" fish tacos had a nice consistency. The taco tropical was yummy (won't tell you what it is, go and be surprised) and the guacamole was a generous portion. Had sangria and while not inexpensive at $11.49 a glass it was delicious. I do hate the "Sf Mandate Surcharge" call-out on the receipt (hey, want to post your workers comp premium on it, too?) but that's my only complaint :)

The fun decor(like the bike handlebar chandelier) draws you in, and the fresh takes on tacos, beverages and small plates will keep you there. We started with house-made pineapple-blueberry aguas frescas and fresh lemonade on an uncharacteristically warm San Francisco afternoon. We followed with chips and salsa (they served us 2 kinds) and guacamole. The guacamole was very fresh with sizable chunks of avocado, but needed a dash of lemon juice to perk it up a bit. The tacos (shrimp with tropical relish and seared tuna with a smoky aioli) were perfect. Our daughter's chicken sandwich of slow-cooked shredded chicken with velvety black beans was delicious (and large enough to share). The service was warm and welcoming. The food came to our table quickly and was presented simply but artfully. A great way to enjoy our outing in San Francisco's Mission district. Next time we plan to also try items from their extensive drink menu!

Just a few blocks from the 26th street BART Station, Lolo is a perfect San Francisco dinner destination from the Peninsula or the East Bay. Lolo takes you on an adventure from the moment you walk in. From unique and tasty cocktails (I had a great Sangria) to melt in your mouth fish tacos and carnitas to exceptional desserts, every bite is a mouthful of interesting and wonderful. The atmosphere is "Neighborhood funky Urban" buzzing with people sharing small plates, enjoying friends and just having a good time. We will definitely go back. Go with people who like to share.

Located in the Mission District, which has some of the best food in San Francisco. It is a colorful restaurant and a bit noisy, but that is part of the charm. It is great to share food with a friend. I went to Lolo's with a friend of mine and the food is to die for and they have the best margaritas. We had margaritas which went perfectly with the food. I am normally a wine drinker and I did not miss having wine with dinner. Lolo's does give salsa and chips. Definitely order the guacamole. Honestly if all my friend and I had the chips, salsa, and margaritas, I would have been happy. We then had the ceviche, beef tacos, and diablo shrimp. We then splurged for dessert which was the Mexican vanilla ice cream with chocolate and dulce de leche. Definitely ask for extra chocolate as chocolate makes everything better.

Lolo won't win awards for fancy atmosphere, but the food certainly will! This is Mexican food as one might find in the Zona Rosa of Mexico City. Sophisticated, bright flavors, light and inventive takes on traditional dishes. Everything we had was perfectly spiced, cooked and served. Service is professional and efficient, and the bar produces incredible cocktails. The drinks here are as unusual and wonderful as the food! The place is jumping with hipsters from facebook, Google and airBnb, but the noise level is surprisingly moderate. Everyone on staff, from the charming and gracious hostess, Noe, to the servers are terrific. If you can get a table (the wait for one when we were there was an hour) do not miss dining at Lolo. It's the best, modern Mexican food north of Mexico City!

Went for dinner yesterday night at around 8:30 and it was packed. I recommend you make a reservation before, otherwise there might be a long waiting list. The place is very cool decorated, it's cute and fun with a great ambiance. All the waiters and bartenders were very attentive and offered a quick service. However, if you're really hungry and are looking forward to a satisfying meal, I do not recommend this restaurant. They serve tapas and they are SMALL. Two small tacos for $14? No thanks. Don't get me wrong, they were tasty, but not worth the amount of money. The drinks are also pricey, up to $15 each. We ordered three tapas and I was barely satisfied. Also, it would've been nice to get a good recommendation from the waiter rather than hear "everything is good". On the other hand, I hear their mimosas are pretty good, maybe ill be back just for that.

Ceviche was so fresh - Shrimp taco was only a small serving Nachos and salsa starters Perfect for a snack especially with cold drinks

This friendly and attractive restaurant offers a variety of dishes that were new to us including a great calamari dish with a blue corn masa "muffin"underneath it. There's a lot of tasty vegetable choices and our two vegetarian friends were happy with their dinner. The vibe is youthful but we felt quite comfortable although we were the oldest diners in the place.

To start, the decor is bright and colourful which made it a great cheery place for brunch. Staff were friendly and the food was very flavourful - the best Mexican food we had tasted during our visit. ( out of 3 restaurants) I ordered the Huevos rancheros and we enjoyed the small trays of a variety of salsa with our food. Someone else in our group ordered the Croissant French toast which he said was delicious as well. Will definitely go back during our next visit.

Was very excited to snag a reso here. And was pretty excited to go. Was sure of a good experience. Iâm sorry to say I was let down. Food was the main issue, the fish on jicama taco was not right. The dessert was broken up deep fried pastry, topped with ice cream, and toffee sauce. Would not recommend ordering that. Catching attention of waiter for a drink was annoying too. The bar was busy and had a cool vibe. I would come And stand around the bar again, but would not eat here. Sorry, was really looking forward to it.

I was in the Mission on my last night in San Francisco and wanted to have a kick-ass last dinner. Lolo sort of fit the bill. I looked up the menu before arriving and was psyched to check it out. There was a small crowd waiting outside when it opened. Since i was alone, it was quite easy to find a spot at the bar. The space did fill up rather quickly. I ordered a margarita which was made quickly and expertly albeit a bit on the small side. I had asked the bartender for recommendations and he pointed out a few options. I ordered the shisito peppers, tuna tacun, and pork belly salad. I was under the impression that this was a small plates kind of place. After giving my order, the bartender told me he thought that was too much food. I wasn't sure I quite heard him correctly, so I asked him to repeat and he then reiterated that he thought that my order was too much. I politely said that was ok but I wanted the dishes anyway. He didn't explain why he thought it would be too much. As a solo female diner, i didn't appreciate having my order commented on in negative and shaming way. Even if it was too much for me, I do have the option for leftovers. Anyway, on to what really counts. Shisito peppers being one of my favorites. These didn't disappoint. They were perfectly salted with the right amount of bite. Some were spicy, but that's the risk. The tuna tacun is one of the more popular dishes. This had strips of seared tuna, sauce and a vegetable or two on flour tortillas. It's 2 to a portion and thought it was tasty but not particularly memorable. The pork belly salad was wonderful. Very generous with the pork belly portions and an interesting blend of mint, fennel, spicy peppers and other leaves. It was delicious and quite satisfying. If you're a pork belly fan, this is not to be missed. I wasn't offered dessert, so I'm not sure if they had any or not. I really wanted to love this place, but the bartender's comments and aloofness put a bit of a damper on my experience.

Wow! Everything tasted wonderful - so many unique flavors!! We had guacamole, two salads and three entrees and everything was great! The drinks we started off with were amazingly delicious. It was my friends birthday and when they brought the desert there was a candle on top (a nice touch). Everything I can think to say would involve a superlative form. We had a perfect evening. Note: Many of their dishes are marked with "GF" - meaning Gluten Free.

We met friends at Lolo, and ordered a wide variety of foods, as we'd heard that it was more of a Tapas style tasting menu restaurant. In fact the portions were not small, we were well filled by the end of the meal. Our assortment included Sauteed Brussel Sprouts (with hazel nuts, GREAT), an excellent KALE Salad, Civiche, Tuna Tacon, Carnitas, and a few others which have skipped my mind. The restaurant was busy and noisy, but not intrusively so. Service was good.

1) In a half empty restaurant, the hostess attempted to seat us in the back near the bathrooms where no one was seated (we even had a reservation, hard to believe that's the seat available with a reservation). Then she got upset that we asked to be seated in the front. 2) The food was not tasty, even for fusion food. Radishes on guacamole and radish pitas, big no-no. The octopus was not cooked well enough and it comes with a purple potato purée that's bland. 3) We eat out daily and do not our waste time giving reviews; the poor service and tasteless food at this restaurant warranted this change in behavior. If you can avoid it, do not eat here. We wasted $80 on a meal here, the only thing that was worth it was the beer.

Great fod in a great atmosphere. A fantastic combination of Latin and American style. Service excellent

Itâs a nice different type of Mexican restaurant- looks quite rundown and noisy but the food was good and the service excellent.

Group of six out of towners visited to catch up. The decor is impressive, the atmosphere loud and boisterous and the food tasty and refreshing. Favourite was the pork belly, followed closely by the fish tacos, asparagus and salads. Having never tried kale I gave to say the manner in which it was presented made the dish very enjoyable. Probably more drinking than eating but a fun night.

Great place to eat in the Mission District and dead easy to get to. The decor is quite quirky and as well as food they do a good range of cocktails. We went on a Monday night and were lucky to turn up just as someone had cancelled a table for four - otherwise it would've been a 30-40 minute wait. Our teenagers loved it as well. Highlight was the pulled pork taco which came as a special.

If you like a funky, creative atmosphere, this is your place. The decorating here is so over the top cool and random. We just had a drink, guac and tacos, but all were great. Good buzz.

Came here with friends last night for dinner. Food was amazing. Latin food in tapas style. Everything was delicious. The place is always packed. Definitely make reservation before you come. Very reasonable prices for San Francisco.

be sure to make a reservation - very popular place! The tacos were fantastic and drinks were great! Servers were very helpful and attentive.

Visited on our vacation. The food was not great and the waitress had a horrible attitude. The hostess was very nice. Not a big fan of tapas. Would definitely never go back.

Great atmosphere nice and busy. Had to wait 30 minutes for a table but could enjoy a drink at the bar so it was fine. The food was great, the avocado dip was awesome and we then ordered a selection of things to share (which I would recommend doing so that you can try everything) price was really reasonable too

AMAZING! We just left after having the best lunch in San Fran... Order the following: Taco Tropical - shrimp taco on a thin slice of Jicama. The most amazing flavors and texture. Ceviche Carnitas Any of the egg dishes for brunch Flan for desert You must make a reservation around lunch time on a Saturday - seating is limited, however there is a bar you could sit at.

Great menu with lots of variety and very lively atmosphere. Service and food quality was superb and price was good value. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for upscale Mexican and lively atmosphere.

From the moment you walk in and the cheerful hostess greets you in the playful surrounding, you know it's going to be good. The grilled octopus was out of this world and the hand crafted beverages are terrific. A really nice place to meet friends for fun events.

I visited Lolo's recently with my group of girlfriends for Sunday Brunch. It was one of San Francisco's few brunch spot that took reservations so I was a little concerned it would not be that great of a spot. I was pleasantly surprised to see as soon as I walked in that it was a fun, 'happening' brunch spot & offered a really great menu selection of mexican-american (farm to table style) cuisine. The service was friendly but not too casual and prompt. Decor was fun & interesting! We ordered an Agua Fresca, one of their specialty Margarita's and a glass of wine- all which were great. The food itself was well priced ($12-$20), with a great selection of side dishes and desserts as well. We ate every bite and had a long visit, never feeling rushed given how busy they were. I will definitely be going back and am looking forward to trying some new dishes. Keep in mind (again) - This location DOES take weekend reservations which just adds to the appeal and overall ease of going to try their brunch.

We made a same day reservation ( on a weekday) and I believe this helped our wait. The hostess was very personal and apologetic that we had to wait ( for only 15 minutes)and took drink orders. Just taking in the colorful, mesmerizing and somewhat bizarre decorations was really fun. We had 6 plates for 4 of us ( we were hungry)each delicious and with a unique set of flavors. We also enjoyed 2 desserts. The drinks were all made with a variety of organic and sometimes unusual ingredients but delicious. We were 2 60 yr olds and 2 30 somethings and all enjoyed the vibrant restaurant in the mission district where we were vacationing.

The food was really nice. I ate at the bar and the bartenders are creating nice cocktails. All the personnel was friendly and helpful.

I didn't want our last meal in SF to be in the airport, so after playing tourist at the Fisherman's Wharf and not finding anything particularly appetizing, we headed to the Mission District. This place was open and gave our party of 3 a table without reservations. The restaurant's decor is very interesting, definitely in character for the attitude and the experience. We had a bunch of small plates washed down with a bottle of Cava. The Ceviche was easily the best dish- extremely fresh, perfectly marinated and just so delicious I couldn't stop eating it even after the other, tapas-style dishes came Crab croquettes were sweet, almost dessert-like. The Fish tacos were very filling, again the fish was fresh and the taco deliciously crafted. After that, the sliders were a good finish, pulled pork was well seasoned and the dipping sauce pleasantly savory. Excellent place to hang, get a small meal, drink up some booze. Service was outstanding - pleasant and professional.

Very good food, nice people, hipster place! We enjoyed our evening there!good music, good wine,we recommend this place

The guacamole is to die for; quesadillas are fantastic; even the steak is great, with an interesting melange of spices; and the rhythmic shake-shake of the bartender's drink mixing adds to the music of the place. Good beers as well.

All I needed on my last day in SF was a great Mexican lunch. What a find! Awesome Margaritas, tasty guacamole, fish tacos and ceviche - just beautiful. Cute bar tender added to the things we liked a lot... keep on going. X

Ww were lucky to stumble upon this little gem. It didn't look fancy at all but it was super-packed with people so we decided to give it a go and we were lucky to get a table! Most delicious was the tuna taco, followed by the avocado taco and salmon taco. The pig belly was 80 pct. fat and 20% meat, that's my only complaint. But so fairly priced and such a good experience! Thank you!

Bustling restaurant recommended by our AirBnB host and did not disappoint. Red comes a booking as there were queues at the door even early evening.

I dined here with friends recently and every dish we shared was delicious. The prices are very reasonable, the service was good and the food is the star attraction. This is an ideal place for sharing the food - it is easy to order doubles for a favorite dish or simply re-order after trying several dishes to get extras of the ones you like best.

Lolo was recommended to us by the owners of our Airbnb on our first night in San Francisco so we decided to try it - and boy were we glad we did. Menu was tatilising, food was great and derive excellent. We recommend you try Lolo!

We had reservations for 315 and didn't realize it was a brunch menu and much more limited than their normal menu. We ordered with disappointment but were pleasantly turned around. We ordered 3 different type of tacos and the tuna was our favorite. The ceviche was incredible. I know would not only recommend this restaurant for dinner but their brunch is out of this world.

Visiting SF for the first time and craving some Latin cuisine we ventured forth to Lolo. Wait time was reasonable and the place was packed for a Wednesday night. Service was wonderful. Drinks are well balanced and flavorful and the food was outstanding! We had the quesadilla birria which was so juicy and delicious. The Pork carnitas were exceptional. We even tried the crickets which were a tasty adventure we would do again.

Lolo is extremely charming and one of a kind. Its cozy vibe is only surpassed by its fantastic brunch. The food is an inventive take on traditional Mexican with delicious cocktails. The service is unsurpassed especially if you get Sebastian.

Super friendly staff, excellent cocktails and drinks list in general, great service, fun atmosphere and amazing food. All round great restaurant! Highly recommend the Ceviche - it was delicious - so were all of the other small plates we ordered.

We stopped at LoLo's after a day on a bike of Mission Bicycles (two blocks down on Valencia) for a great meal. During our vacation in the States we've been missing a certain acidity in our meals which normally lifts the flavors, but at LoLo's this was perfect! We had a very good guacamole, a superb portion of roasted pork belly, Kale Salad and beef taco's. We have not seen a desert menu, but there are plenty of alternatives in the Mission District, for instance the "San Francisco Organic Cream" truck on the corner of 18th and Valencia.

Had the most delicious tacos I've ever eaten, and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. Would 100% recommend this place!

The food was great đđŒ and the Cocktails were fabulous. The Service was also perfect. I would recommend to Drink the Bloody Mary đ

Lolo was full to burst when we arrived, so was glad i had pre booked. Despite being so busy the service was fast and the staff were friendly. We just asked for random selection as everything looked so nice. Everything we had was top notch. Its not cheap and i didnt leave stuffed, but the food was so nice and well presented i was more than happy.

Outstanding and unique Mexican food , lovely fresh flavours , and really great service. Would highly recommend for a lovely evening

had a great night in lolo. There was a wait for a table as we were in a group of 5 but we had a couple of drinks in the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere. once at the table the service was very good and the food was really tasty and authentic. loads of flavour and good portion size. really enjoyed the food, drinks and atmosphere.

This meal was solo In San Fran. Overall to food was really good. I had the crab croquettes and fish tacos. The croquettes were delish overalls but was missing the crab taste. Though I don't dispute there was crab there, just wondered how much. However all the croquettes were a pillow of yumminess. The sauce they came with was delish. The tacos were amazing, my only criticism is the tortilla was a bit thick. However, it was forgivable when I realized they are handmade and not store bought. The balance was perfect. The perfect accompaniment was my glass of wine. Overall a satisfying meal and I got to explore Mission District. My major criticism - was the service. The host was not really a host. She just kind of stood there. Coming in as a person of one meant fend for yourself and find a seat at the bar. The wait staff was not that much better. Waited forever for a menu, finally got one and then it was taken away without my order being taken! When I did actually track down a waitress, I ordered both my drink and dinner items and asked for some chips. There are a lot of ppl working there with little to no direction. The service was really the reason the stars got docked.

My wife and I were in the area and so this was our first visit to this restaurant. Service was great, food was tasty, but the drinks were less than one would expect for the high prices. Having family who have owned restaurants, alcohol is where you make money but this place takes it to a new level. Margarita - $18 - more ice than actual alcohol in a small tumbler glass Hard Cider - $15 - not only did I not receive a full amount (like some places provide the whole bottle/can) but I received a small port like glass with a splash of cider similar to a skimpy pour at a wine tasting. When I finished it they asked if I wanted another? Seriously? Are you kidding? I want the full amount for the price I paid. Water was free. Skip the drinks at this place because they don't understand people want a full drink for the money. And if you do order drinks, and they are all like I describe, don't come back. Unfortunately they will learn the hard way when they have no customers and have to close their doors.

Crazy loud noisy..but fun place ....great food.....lots of small plates...a hot spot!! would go back for sure!!

Highly recommended, original plates, decent size, decent price. The Mexican cocktails were incredible!!! Restaurant was charming.

We came for brunch on Sunday. It's a very busy place with a lot of bar patrons. We sat right down with reservations. The atmosphere was fun and the food was even better! We had beef tacos and avocado tacos which were amazing! Best avocado tacos I've ever had! They are small but so worth every two bites. The salsa was fresh and delicious too. We had the bunuelos too. Also awesome!

Excellent friendly and helpful service. Tempting Tapas and brunch menu. Varied drinks and cocktails available. Vibrant noisy atmosphere. Interesting and artistic decor.

Food is ok if you want to try different flavours ( i liked 2 of 4 tapas) I trink is too expensive for such a small food Just to go once

So at San Francisco for my first time ever with my family and went to this restaurant base on good reviews, although not on the best streets of the City the ambiance was awesome as everyone seemed on a party mood and the service was awesome and the theming was fun , lots of weird fun lamps , the wall decor was parts of cars and lamps and different things , the food was awesome as we ate some fish tacos , and tropical tacos and ships , and my daughter had shrimp bowl which was very good and the customer service was 5 star and I was able to watch the cooks make dinner and you could tell they were very into it . If ever back in SF I'll go back

Had a dinner for 18 in their private room. Meal was preselected and nothing we had was average. All food served was amazing! Wait staff was terrific too.

Excellent Mexican place, even if it was a decent taxi ride out from the centre. Inventive, good quality food, nice atmosphere, and quality drinks. I wish there was one in London !

We stumbled onto this restaurant while walking the Mission District and what a find! Great food with a really fun and funky atmosphere. If you're in the area go eat here!

Had visited Lolo in Guadalajara and they had mentioned they had one in San Francisco. We loved it so much in Mexico that we made it a point to visit while in the city. We were blown away with the food even though the menu differs a little from the one in Mexico. We live in Southern California and are used to good Mexican food. Fantastic flavors, funky great ambiance and superb service. We visit San Francisco often and have made this a must on every visit. I saw some reviews that mention the price and value but to us, that just seems to be typical of SF. All good meals were pricey.

As packed as they are on the weekends, I can come and just chill. I've been here more than 8 times and the hostesses are ALWAYS pleasant and accommodating. They handle the rush. With aplomb. Servers are equally friendly and helpful. Always start with the guacamole made a la minute! You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes of the well edited menu.

Lolo was buzzing when we walked in for lunch but, even without reservations, we were able to be seated for a meal. The atmosphere is complemented by walls full of art and wonderful colors everywhere. The menu options are plentiful actually making it hard to decide what to order. We settled on Chilaquiles and Egg Scramble plus a glass of wine and a glass of Sangria to drink. Everything came in a timely manner and was all delicious. We would definitely return to try other items or even have the same again.

To reach our table, we walked through the main entrance and into an adjoining room. The route took us past the kitchen, where I was nearly knocked over by a cloud of foul stench that seemed to be a combination of mildew and sewage, as though they have a chronic drain back-up issue. To be honest, I would have turned and left right then and there, but I was with a local friend who had made the reservation and had been raving about the food. He didn't seem to notice the smell, but he has allergies and is always stuffed up. Despite my trepidation about its safety, the food was excellent. We enjoyed fresh guacamole served with house-made chips and two different kinds of very good ceviche. I was very relieved not to be sick afterwards, however. I wonder when was the last time the health inspector visited?

This is a great place for having tacos and beer. I ordered the fish tacos and I was quite impressed. Definitely a place to come back.

Very busy and a one hour wait/ drink in a great bar round the corner as the place is buzzing. Tasty food - small portions but they aren't expensive so go nuts. Curious cocktails included sangria made with vodka. Good service even though the place was full.

We called on a Saturday night to try and get a reservation. I guess they do not take reservations over the phone (and not on Open Table). We drove over, and we were told we would have about 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes wait. The seating is limited and tables are close together. It took over 1 and 1-1/2 hours for a table. Even though it was after 9:00, there were a few shops still open to fill part of our time. We learned that the bar is 1st come, 1st serve, waiting for a table at the bar could be a quicker option. The hostess and the wait staff were friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were very good. We are always a fan of guacamole and chips, be they were the least spectacular of the items we ordered. The Masa corn cake was dense and slightly sweet with a creamy pepper sauce. The fried brussel sprouts were awesome! The fish tacos were perfectly cooked with a great sauce. The portions were not huge, but it was quite filling.

Super cute contemporary taqueria with great atmosphere and vibrant decor (aka. there are ceramic dog statues literally everywhere). Don't miss the taco tropical, panko avocado taco, and fried brussel sprouts. Yum! Be sure to make a reservation, or be prepared to wait at the bar for at least an hour. On second thoughts, maybe don't bother with that reservation after all.

A group of us went on the recommendation of a local friend. We had a very enjoyable evening marred only slightly by the more than half hour wait for our table beyond the time of the reservation. That meant two of our party had to leave before the end and we rushed a little as a result. They did however do well to get food out quickly once we started. With more time the quality of the food would have probably merited a 5 rating. I particularly liked the avocado tacos, fish tacos, the king prawns and of course the margaritas we started with. It was very busy and that generated a nice buzzy atmosphere in the quite dimly (but nicely) lit restaurant. I would definitely go again.

Ive passed by this busy restaurant and finally got to go in for brunch a few days back. Now I understand the hype. This place is great its like eating in an art exhibit. Lolo is decked out with art installations all over the walls. I sat next to the paper plane wall and found it very amusing. Equally important is the great food. My boyfriend and I decided on the carnitas and tuna tacos. The tacos were incredible. I also enjoyed the chips and salsas which paired perfectly with our cocktails. Will be dining at Lolo more often.

i have been to the iLatina, Anita Lili and Lolos in Guadalajara many times which I consider some of the Best restaurants in Mexico hands down. So my expectation was high when I went to Lolo. we got there at 5:30 p.m. and already there was a line. they can't accommodate reservations for more than 5 people. we were 7. fortunately they accommodated a table for us. They cocktails are very original, especially the fake tejuino with Mescal and Lemon ice cream. the menu consists or small dishes mainly, so family style worked out for us. Almost everything we ordered was amazing. especially the Pork Belly and the Beef tacos. the ceviche was fine, but not great. The menu is very different from Mexico's original restaurants. what I did find was the Jicama shrimp tacos, i think its called Taco Tropical. that is very good. The service is good, its slow paced so go there with a patient mind and enjoy. the decor is similar to the iLatina;s original vision. I will definitely go back many times. Try to make a reservation as it can get very busy.

We had a few dishes, beef tacos, fried Brussels sprouts, carnitas. It was more than we could finish for two adults, but so delicious. The carnitas were my favorite, but because they came out last I couldnât eat as much! My cocktail was good, but it was not as great as the food. I had a gin cocktail that I believe had jam in it. It was in the middle of the pack of drinks I had on my trip. The chips, though, so good. They were super crispy and addictive!

LoLo was packed on the Friday night we had dinner there. The food was fresh and delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive and the decor is very funky. We had an enjoyable dinner and great Margheritas.

We arrived at Lolo on a busy Saturday night and were immediately seated. We were graciously greeted by our Server Summer, who offered recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed for an enjoyable visit. We were also greeted by the owners of this family owned enterprise. We felt special and that they were happy to have our business. This restaurant is a local favorite so if you are from out of town make a reservation. They have a very active bar, and play some very eclectic Cumbias, as well as other contemporary Latin music. We had the Beet and Papita Salad, Taco Tropical, Carne Asada, the special of the evening, and a unique white bean vegetable hummus. We also splurged and had both the Pot de Creme and Bunelo dessert, along with very good coffee. We also had Aqua de Piedra aqua âcon gasâ. A very nice Mexico version of Pierrier. If you are looking for unique Guadalajara influenced high end Fare that is sure to please any palate. Then you should definitely visit Loloâs on Valencia in the Mission District. Ask to eat at Summers station and tell her Critics_critic sent you.

We had such a lovely and delicious dinner at LoLo Mexican restaurant. Very tasty. The service was very good. The decor is funky and fun. Great place for happy hour.

Don't get me wrong. Food was good, Service was good, But portions were far below what you would expect in this price range. I realize it is San Francisco, but there has to be a limit. I had the fried avocado tacos and they were good. But they are so tiny, like all of the tacos served here, No one in our party complained about the quality of the food, just the lack of it. I chose this restaurant based on reviews here, and was disappointed with the outcome. Margaritas had almost no alcohol, or so it seemed. I don't think I would return.

We arrived just after opening at 6 pm, and the hostess kindly found us a nice table despite our lack of reservation. We had yummy Margaritas and ordered 3 tapa plates - Tropical Spice Dusted Shrimp Taco (our favorite) , Blue Corn Masa Calamari & Black Squid Ink Sopes (most unusual), and Lamb Sliders with Porcini Mushroom Sauce - all were scrumptuous! While eating, we ordered a fourth dish (Fish Tacos) but couldn't finish it. The service was friendly and attentive, and the decor eccentric and colorful. A thoroughly fun dinner!

Carnitas - good Tuna Tacon - great Ceviche - good Kale salad - nice, refreshing Location - great Nice light friends hang-out for lunch

Mixologist is superb. The food was fantastic. Amazingly tasty, fresh and fun. Mexican tapas! Great place.

Couldnât have been happier when family recommended this, prices on the nice side and such a variation in dishes. Plates are like tapas, have to order a few to make a meal, they bring them when theyâre ready, excellent ambience and the cocktails are great too.

The food was good but average, for prices above average. The place was very noisy and with loud music of poor choice (weird punky? world music, hard to tell with the noise). The bill had an extra "special" charge we did not catch, presumably for returning a glass of wine that was badly oxidized. For $50+ per person I expected much better, and will not be returning.

We got this place recommended by a local from the Mission District and it was a brilliant tip. Busy restaurant for dinner we did not make a reservation and got lucky to get a table for four. The food was oustanding we ordered half of the menu and everything was tasty, fresh and somehow special! I also went for a cocktail and I have to admit it was a bit strong for me but tasty nevertheless. Small portion though if you are hungry you might need to order twice.

My cousin and I went on a Thursday. Very busy, but we had a reservation. The service was good, and the server's recommendations were on point. A tuna dish, seafood tacos, lamb burgers and octopus. Unique flavors, super tasty, not too pricey. And the atmosphere was cool. Would definitely go again.

It's so good you feel in mexico. The decor is absolutedly fantastic, the atmosphere and the ambiance gets you to mexico inmediatedly. The chicken tacos with onions are superb. The best tacos are the tacos tropicales with shrimp fried and jicama tortillas are great. Maybe the best in the restaurant. The lamb sliders are a must. You cannot miss this dishes or you will go without the best in this place. It is imperative to order to share so you feel the taste of everything. You should start with the guacamoles that are also fantastic. My favorite Mexican byfar. Great prices and the best service. Totally recomended.

Went here with la familia for brunch and some of the best innovative foods ever. The Tacos Tropical were absolutely delish! Wait staff excellent and good seating.

This is a restaurant that is well worth a visit. Small bustling place, make a reservation if you can or expect to wait 45-60 minutes on a Wednesday night, would hate to wait on a Friday or Saturday. Well worth the wait. Fresh homemade guacamole, followed by a variety of Tacos; Tacos Tropical, Soft shell crab black tempura, Tuna Tacon. All were excellent, I would say the Tuna Tacon was one of the favorites. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and not rushed in spite of how busy they were. They have excellent friendly staff and work as a great team from the nice hostess, to the serving staff to the food runners and bus boys. This was such an excellent dining experience. Highly recommended.

It was our first time, and the server told us the portions are small so we should order at least 2 items each. Two items total would have been plenty. I'll briefly review the 4 items we had, plus the drinks. First, we had their margarita. It was good but the smallest margarita I have had, and for $12, not worth it. I've had margaritas with the same ingredients in Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, and Las Cruces New Mexico. This wasn't better than any of those, only smaller. The Diabla Shrimp was very good. Definitely my favorite dish we had. It had a spicy tomato sauce and really hit the spot. Served with rice to balance it out. The Fried Brussel Sprouts were just ok. Had some at a roadside diner just north of Napa that were much better (crispier). The fish tacos aren't something I would recommend. Very little fish (cod). Mostly slaw and it was so wet that the flour tortillas don't hold up. Fell apart before finishing. Really just a mess. Last dish was the beef sliders. These were very good. Lots of beef and the flavor was amazing. Stick with the sliders and the diabla shrimp.

Loló has a fun, trendy vibe. Yet there is also something very warm about it. I'll start with an anecdote: it was packed when we went on a Saturday night, and there was a line of people at the door. When we approached the desk, the hostess was on the phone. She told a group of people that they could go around the corner and get a table at Loló's other location. A woman from that party made a point of going over to personally thank the hostess not just for helping them get a last minute table that night, but because she had always been so helpful to them whenever they'd visited. This was he vibe of the place for us - hip, but just really nice. We went on the recommendation of a friend who knew one of the bartenders. At her suggestion, we gave him some general indications of our tastes, and he made us off-menu specialty drinks, which were incredibly good. Complicated ones, with five or six ingredients. He was thoughtful, and as the night got very busy always looked poised and relaxed. This would be a fun place just to go for a drink and maybe nibble on appetizers. But it is also a great place to eat. We tried a delicious fried brussel sprouts appetizer. And also a daily special bone marrow with mushroom appetizer, also really good. For our main course, we chose grilled octopus, which was incredibly good - tender and juicy. Also we ordered a vegan bean stew. We ordinarily would never order anything vegan, but this looked good and before we were seated our barman had commented that it was a vegan dish he recommended to non vegans. And he was right - it was booming with flavor, and of course very healthy. They of course supplied totopos and two salsas, both very fresh - but the green sauce was spicy and memorably tasty. Desserts did not look interesting, so we skipped them, but I bet they were better than they looked. Service was excellent throughout. Since the space is small, there's always somebody around - when our waitress was busy with other tables, a busboy was always available for whatever we needed (e.g., some more salsa verde!). The menu seemed to feature small plates (clearly appetizers) and some large plates (clearly dinner entrées) and also some that seemed to be in between. This could be a good place to do some sharing of small and medium plates. I'll also mention the open kitchen, where you could see that the cooks were probably all Mexican, including not just the celebrity chef types we see on TV, but also some women who didn't look much different from cooks in small, untrendy family restaurants. This is a place to go back to midweek when it's probably a little quieter, but despite being crazy busy, Saturday night was also fine - and maybe more fun because of the energy level. Lots of charm, color and warmth here. Highly recommended!

We found the food here variable. Some of it was very good. The Tropical tacos, with panko crusted prawns in a taco that was really a thin slice of jicama, was great! We like fish, but both of us found the fish tacos way too fishy - couldn't taste anything else. The carnitas was very tasty, and I liked the tortillas. The guacamole was nice looking, but pretty bland tasting - not good avocados in January? We liked our margaritas. I decided to try another drink, and asked the bartender for guidance based on other drinks I like. He was not able to make any thoughtful suggestion, so I tried a scotch-based drink and a single ice cube pretty much filled the glass. Very little to drink - a few sips and it was done. So, overall it was worthwhile, but not great. Service - other than the bar - was great.

Delicious taco and tapas place in the mission. Tasty tacos, mix of kinds though only a few veggie options. Other appetizers and a handful of mains. Good margaritas. Outdoor space in shelter with heaters; indoors it is crowded with a large bar and a bunch of tables. Eclectic decor. Very good if informal service.

What can I say about this place ... Our flight from the east coast came in really late and I called the restaurant to see if they could push back our reservations, and without hesitation they did, and even said if we came in earlier they would try to sit us. A local friend showed up a bit early and they told her as soon as something opened up they sit her at the table we had reserved. Luckily we were too far off, when we arrived I think we waited 5 minutes. The place was jamming ... it was completely packed. We started with a round of yummy margaritas .. and then food !!!!!! They then gave us the house chips and the amazing salsa ... we loved it .. we ended up asking for 3 more orders of chips and salsa .. thats how good it was. We ordered queso fundido - melted cheese with fresh mushroom ... really yummy followed by papas bravas ... potatoes in a nice and mild sauce .. again yummy. We then ordered Guacamole which was really good. Shishito peppers ... that were nice and crunchy. Meanwhile the service was awesome ... everyone we encountered was great and friendly. Perfect service !!!!! For our main plates we ordered the pork belly salad, 2 orders of fish tacos, and an order of carnitas ... the fish tacos were amazing .. the pork belly was just perfect and the carnitas was nice and toasty and crunchy. It was an overall great and awesome experience .. I truly enjoyed it and will not hesitate to come again. As for prices ... well its above average for Mexican food, but this isn't your cheap Mexican food it's very good on the border of high end/gourmet Mexican food, totally worth it. Food was a perfect 10 out of 10 for us. The drinks was 10 out of 10 and service was 10 out of 10.

If you are visiting San Francisco during the weekends and plan on exploring Dolores park (5 min walk) or even Painted Ladies (around 30 min walk) - this place is a true San Franciscan reward for you! The eccentric design, high ceiling, chatty table full of locals is very welcoming. Don't forget to make a reservations, parties of more than 6 refer to their other location (Lolo Cevecheria). On our last visit, we ordered their wonderful super fresh ceviche, carnitas, roasted pepper, avocado toast with smoked trout (highly recommended) and an omelette. The service is very super fast, regardless of the fact that the house is packed. The flavorful drinks of the house are definitely worth a try. The extra spice around the rim is not something that I am too crazy for- so heads up!

Our first dinner in San Francisco was at Lolo, and we couldn't have been happier with the choice. While I'm under no illusions that this is how people in Mexico eat day to day, it was a great twist on classic Mexican food. The kale salad was also delicious, not to mention a really big portion. The staff were friendly, and there was more than enough on the menu to cater for all types of diets. I really enjoyed the taco tropical, very tasty.

Lolo came recommended some a San Fran local and couldn't have been more happy with the place. Has a very eclectic vibe. The food we ordered was delicious. Taco Tropical and Panko Avocado Taco. They are small plates - but we weren't very hungry so it was the perfect spot for dinner.

We have been to Lolo several times and keep going back for the great tapas, fun atmosphere and good margaritas. The food is inventive and very tasteful, with lots of options (including gluten-free). While a bit noisy, we like it. It's an easy walk from the BART station at 24th and Mission. We always order too much food, so the walk back is a welcome one!

Food and drinks were amazing. Every single item we ordered off the menu was amazing. Loved the ambiance. Our waitress even asked around to help us decide what we wanted to do next!

We ate here shortly after 1 on a Sunday, we had reservations, the restaurant was packed. Very noisy. We were a party of five, started with top shelf margaritas, which were excellent. Ordered small plates to share, all very good; the fish tacos were fresh and very good. Clan and other desert also done perfectly. Service tops! Definitely would recommend and return.

What wonderful food! Great decor and a vibrant menu. Highly recommend the empanadas and the buñuelo for dessert. Would love to go back if ever in SF.

We sought out a Mexican meal on our last day in San Fran and Lolo didn't disappoint. We are a family of 4, with 11 year old and 6 year old girls. They really enjoyed the tacos we ordered for lunch, portions are a perfect size too as we had become fatigued with American portions of food! Delicious fresh food, amazing drinks and great atmosphere. Definitely worth seeking out when in SF.

The place has a great atmosphere and all the dishes are really great. The dishes are more like tapas, small portions, so expect to get 2-3 per person. The dishes range from classical to new creation, and all were great! One point is that the food comes very fast, so you are done rather quickly. This is not a place to seat around for a long time.

Ceviche, empanadas, and patatas bravas were on point. Non assuming and hip restaurant with lots to offer. A must go back to join.

Some of the food we ordered was very tasty, and some was not. My husband and I both got sick the next day, but I don't know for sure it was from here (although it's the only place where we ate the same thing). The service wasn't great, either. We ordered guac three times before they finally brought it after our main dishes. Drinks were good.

We made reservations for brunch on Sunday and had the tapas. We had the guacamole, ceviche, grilled beef tacos, and the tacos tropicale. A wonderful assortment of different flavors that made the palate happy! We also had the pineapple/ginger drink. Delicious! All food & drink were fresh and tasty. You'll need reservations way in advance for weekend dinners and reservations in general for any time you go there. We can't wait to visit Lolo again!

What a lively place! Very spanish style even if it is not a spanish restaurant. If you have to wait before getting your table, have a drink at the bar and enjoy the performances of the bartenders, shaking shakers non-stop! The food : cebiche is different from the peruvian one, but tasty. The stuffed calamar is as tender as the cheek of my baby daughter. Meat also full of flavors, but everything a bit too salty. Wine was so-so, a bit expensive. Service was friendly, rapid. All-in-all a plesant experience.
Fun atmosphere, good mixed drinks and food
Place is often full but does accept reservations. Food is fresh, nice sized portions and various interesting mixed drinks.
