I would suggest that you keep walking as there is much better food and atmosphere ahead. Lone Star Cafe was suggested by a local, so we went with high hopes. Everything that they are known for was not available - excuses abounded. It seems that if you are not part of some corporate gathering, they don't care. We settled on just having dessert - it wasn't good either - and to top it off, no one in the building knew how to make coffee...COFFEE! I will say that our waitress, Kelly, was a bright spot - that can not be said for the rest of the staff at Lone Star Cafe. Two of the guys that work there traveled through the dining area rough-housing, cursing, yelling, etc. - my wife and I. and those seated around us, could do nothing but look on in amazement that an establishment would allow this atmosphere.

Was in town for a conference, as I’m walking by I see this Restaurant lone star Café and I stop by to have a eat and the server name was Amir Hooper. Boy said he was from Chicago, I happened to be from there as well. Anyway he was a fantastic server and delivered me a very good steak for just visit. Great job

Went here for a quick dinner after work, my coworker and I were offered bar seating despite plenty of open tables, but that was ok. The bartender seemed less than interested about having guest and when I asked what beer he would recommend he just named off what they had. I ordered the ribeye steak, and can't really describe the disappointment for what was put in front of me based on the price. The steak was cooked med-rare as requested, but there was a complete lack of flavor, to the extent that I requested steak sauce to make it edible. My coworker only ate half of his burger before saying he didn't care to finish it. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the location along the Riverwalk. I certainly wouldn't recommend it, you can get the same quality food at a Golden Corral.

Alvin is the best server in San Antonio - he is friendly, informative, funny and kind. A true asset to the restaurant!

I’d say this place was about average. Nothing to write home about. I got a chicken sandwich it was good. The fries were a bit cold. The waiter was super cool. I would go back.

Food was delicious and well worth the price. Our server was Dora and she was super attentive and pleasant. We will definitely visit again when we visit the Riverwalk.

My Husband and I ate here last night. We thought it was reasonable. Good service and value for money. However, my Husband suffered with severe stomach cramps and diarrhoea during the night. We suspect the pork ribs as this was the only thing he had different to me. So, be warned.

Nice location, good steak. Our service waitress Dora was very friendly... Nice greetings from Germany

A very busy night on the San Antonio Riverwalk sees us looking for a quiet restaurant. The Lone Star has a nice balcony overlooking the Riverwalk but far enough away to be comfortable away from the crowds and noise. The Ribs were delicious and the fried shrimp tasty. The meal was mid -range price and service friendly and attentive.

This is another stop-by place during my river walk excursion. I have never gotten a bad meal at this place. The service and the atmosphere are great. There were eight of us, and everyone enjoyed his or her meal. The drinks are delicious also!!!

Great visit! We both had burgers which were delish! Alexander Ybarra was our waiter and did an outstanding job. He was very attentive to our needs but not overbearing. We had a nice table outside and enjoyed the weather!! Would recommend a visit

A delightful diner. Food was exceptional but above all, I have severe food allergies and they even had the chef come out and talk to me on how to prepare my food. And this was on a Saturday night. These people are wondeful

Our waitress Kelly. Is one of the beautiful and kind person. She will run her butt to get you what you want and go over the hill to make sure you are happy and satisfied with your meal. She is very nice and is a great waitress.

Unfortunately, didn’t have a good experience here. The Riverwalk is great but this place….not so much. Food came out cold and not very tasty. Was disappointed.

I wanted to recognize Alvin for his amazing service and spectacular personality. Not only was he pleasant and very personable as our server at lunch, I actually had unknowingly run into him the night prior at a local market where he was also just as pleasant. I loved chatting with him and am so pleased to know that he carries his joy for life everywhere he goes! Thanks so much Alvin for making our lunch so pleasant!

Dora was a fabulous server!! She was efficient, knowledgeable and very friendly. The food was great and I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Riverwalk. Outside seating and patio heaters were awesome!! Thank you Dora!!

This used to be one of our favorite places to dine. Not any more! Average at best food with average service. The staff seemed indifferent to what we needed. Food wad ok… definitely not like what we used to get.

This is a GREAT place to eat on the San Antonio Riverwalk!! Our server, Dora, was a joy to deal with!! She is knowledgeable, personable and very enjoyable to deal with!! The food is GREAT and the atmosphere is like no other!! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We chose this restaurant because it had several good reviews. I ordered the ribeye and another in my party ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Ours were delicious. My sister in law ordered the bacon wrapped filet. She suspects that it wasn’t a filet at all but a different cut disguised as a filet. She was super disappointed. Our waiter did take it off the check, but didn’t offer to make her anything different.

Our server was energetic and entertaining. The drinks were fine. The food was mediocre, at best. To top it off, there were at least six(6) separate tickets for our group of 13. The restaurant took it upon themselves to apply an eighteen percent(18%) gratuity to EACH ticket. We found this to be unusual and completed an unhappy experience.

Place is legit and has great prices with a combo of great food. Dora will literally take ur night from a 5 to a 10 and if you don't agree, you need meds. She is sweet and attentive to all ur needs. Place is amazing and Dora will make sure you are taken care of from beginning to end!

The food was soooooo good. Fresh and fast and all of our hold/this/add/that requests were on point. Our server Erica P was Amazing! As a frequent traveler, I eat out because I have to, not because I want to. This was absolutely an enjoyable experience from beginning to end with a beautiful view of the Riverwalk.

My fiancé and I had a great experience at The Lone Star Cafe while visiting San Antonio. It was definitely our favourite place to relax and have a few drinks after walking around for hours. Nice atmosphere overlooking the Riverwalk. We had two servers, Brannon and Alvin and they were BOTH terrific. They kept us entertained and didn’t mind answering any questions we had. We had many laughs with both of them. They were so good to us I actually requested to speak to the manager to let her know how great they were. Would definitely go back if we make it back to San Antonio.

Alexander Ybarra was very friendly and informative. Made our short trip to San Antonio pleasurable and the food was great!

Had a 12oz ribeye steak to be cooked rare. Cook was correct but there was so much gristle and fat you couldn't cut it with a knife. I get better quality meat at my local grocery store. Told waitress about it and she took plate away. Manager couldn't be bothered to talk to us . My meal was comped. My wife had the filet and the bacon did not have the fat rendered. Bland flavor. Avoid the overpriced sub par restaurant.

Looking for a texas size steak on our last night in San Antonio and the Lone Star was the perfect place!! We were greeted at the street level along the riverwalk and seated immediately upstairs, outside terrace - perfect, view without the people walking by. Our server, Roland was great with information about the menu and charming as well. Hubs is still talking about his amazing texas size T-bone, so good and I enjoyed a chop sirloin. (not a big meat lover here). They even threw in a 15% promo coupon. Atmosphere is super fun, festive and relaxing.

For the price, the food was mediocre - ordered two steaks (same ones) - both medium rare. One came medium - had to send it back. The server has the mannerisms of a "too-cool-for-school" high-school kid; he should work at a waffle house and get some decent training. His service was slow, but entertaining - he dropped our drinks on the floor. Lots of apologies, lots of waiting. Pass

Great food and looking over the river walk! Chicken fried chicken was amazing! Alvin did a great job waiting on us as well!

My boyfriend and I went for a quick holiday date and we sat on the patio over looking the river walk. Our server Amir was excellent and even the food was great. If we ever visit San Antonio again we will definitely stop by again.

Our server, Dora, was fantastic! She was happy to take our picture, food was served almost immediately, and she was delightful!

Food was excellent, as were the margaritas. The bath rooms were exceptionally clean. But BEST of all was IZZY. Izzy was our waitress and she made our afternoon lunch wonderful. She was so polite and helpful with menu ideas and suggestions. Izzy is one fine waitress and The Lone Star Cafe is lucky to have her.

We enjoyed our dinner with a great view of the river walk. Our server, named Alvin, really made our experience even better!! He was very friendly, very attentive and had us all laughing. He really went above and beyond, even sang us a song at one point (lol). Would definitely be back to see him again. Thank you again Alvin!

Food was delicious. Had grilled shrimp with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Hubby had salmon with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Requested bread and waiter went to check. Bread was all gone but didn’t come tell us until we were ready to go. “Didn’t my manager come tell you? He said he would.” Still, food was delicious

We were lucky enough to get a table outside, on the rail, with a heater, blankets. Great food- we both had steaks. They were perfect. Great service, lots of great music and activity on the river.

This is an Erik only review. I ate here on March 22, 2023. Erik had the bacon jam burger and cowboy magic margarita. The service was prompt and friendly. The food came out in a reasonable time. The burger was pretty good and the fries were well done. The margarita was quite good. Definitely a solid lunch. I would eat here again.

Alexander Ybarra, was our waiter and he was courteous and friendly. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and family. The food and service was absolutely delicious and amazing. Thank you, Alex

Ate outside overlooking the Riverwalk. $5 happy hour margaritas were good. Full rack of ribs were delicious and large enough to split. Eugene was good waiter and very attentive.

Had a really nice dinner on the riverwalk. The food was very tasty and served hot and fresh. Service was also great.

We were seated on the upstairs balcony, with a very nice view of the Riverwalk. That was the good part of the meal. Our experience went downhill from there. Our server didn’t seem to know what he was doing at all, didn’t even act like a server, more like a guy who just walked in off the street! Hubby ordered chips and queso as an appetizer. Waited and waited, it never came out. Finally it came out WITH the meal. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. It was a small amount of meat on a large bun. The pork was over cooked, very tough and hard to chew. I asked for ranch dressing with my fries and then had to ask again. Finally got the Ranch, which was very watered down and runny. Our server did not check on us, nor did he refill our drinks. We left feeling sorry that we choose this restaurant.

So so on the Riverwalk. Was seated outside then the waiter never came back so we sat inside. It was just okay. I have had better and expected more.

I came here years ago and got the best onion rings I've ever had. I've been wanting to bring my wife here since then and finally was able to do so. Not only was I disappointed in the quality of the onion rings we had, but they apparently are not even on the menu now. The waiter and cook were nice enough to make some for us anyway, but it was clear that they were not the same ones I had before. The rest of our food was just okay too. The excuse I got was that COVID had forced them to change their menu substantially because of supply issues. Also, like everywhere these days, they had a hard time getting people to work. When is all this COVID-related stupidity going to end?!? Anyway, if you go here, get a table on the veranda overlooking the RiverWalk. The view is the best part about eating here.

Got an outside table. Nice. Cool scenery. Ordered cheese burger with no option to replace fries with salad. Burger requested medium. Chips and salsa arrived while waiting. Burger arrived, well done. Seemed more like a processed burger. Veggies weren't fresh. McDonald's is superior. Fries were under cooked. Bathroom clean. Cannot recommend. Won't be back.

I had the pork chop dinner and managed to get a little chicken fried steak. Both were tasty. Servings were plentiful. The apple cobbler was good too.

Ate here for a late lunch. Fried mushrooms with white gravy for the win! So good! Also had the cheddar burger with a side salad. Everything was really good along with views of the river! Melissa was an amazing server who recommended what to get. She was super sweet and attentive.

One of the best restaurants along the famous river walk. Hamburger steak and port chops in very generous servings. In and outdoor seating.

Went to Lone star for the thanksgiving parade , and we had such a great time , you host are amazing they are so nice and sweet , Amir was out server and he was excellent, he made sure our food came out correct , we didn’t wait long on drinks and food and he didn’t rush us or anything , such a sweet young man. Amir has been the best server I’ve had on the River walk

We were on the river walk and stumbled upon the Lone Star Cafe in search of another restaurant, our server was James and he was training 2 new servers, they were quite pleasant and prompt. Hubby had the shrimp, which he thoroughly enjoyed while I opted for a "large" texas pecan salad, ya know everything is larger in Texas but NOT this salad, it was served on a desert plate so I would have considered that to have been a small salad and for $12 I expected more, it was boring - iceburg lettuce, a few green onions, some cheese and a handful of pecans.

Our server Dora was great! The food was amazing and the in house made rolls were outstanding! A great location on the river walk!

Great buffalo wings - they have a lot more flavor that most buffalo wings. But the sweet potato fries weren’t crispy enough. Nice view with heat lamps and blankets on the balcony too.

Just got back from our first trip to SA. Our server was great: talkative and attentive! My ribeye was tough (tho it was cooked to perfection). Our burger was great (the one with the bacon jam). Plenty of seating (indoor & outdoor). The peach cobbler is too die for!!!

My husband and I recently had dinner at Lone Star Cafe Riverwalk and it was very disappointing. We really just wanted to get a good steak while in Texas so we both ordered the most expensive cuts. Neither steak was cooked as ordered and my husband had to send back his ribeye because it was raw in the middle and he ordered medium. It only took a few minutes to correct which made me think they microwaved it. My filet was most definitely not a filet. It was a top sirloin. We don't mind paying for good food but $32 for a terrible steak is not acceptable. We let the waiter know but he just said sorry. Don't waste you money or time at this place.

Food not great. Had a burger that was just ok at best. Fries were under cooked and cold when I got them. All in all an underwhelming meal

Alexander Ybarra was an excellent waiter with tons of useful information about San Antonio! Thank you for the excellent service and chili cheese fries!

We had a wonderful lunch sitting outside on the river walk and the bacon jam burger was amazing! Alvin was our server and he was so friendly and attentive! Go!

Good meatloaf, good hamburger steak, absolutely great side salad and terrific service make this a great stop if you are looking for a quick lunch along the Riverwalk

Came in for a good steak dinner and was not disappointed. Dinner was excellent and Dora was great! Will definitely come back when in town!

Went and had the chicken fried steak lunch special and paid less than $20 for amazing service and food ! Was seated fast and served fast

Overall it was great and worth a few minutes wait. The menu has an abundance of choices at reasonable prices. Our waiter was excellent in every way. Our food was delicious and was delivered quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Good food and great service by Alexander Ybarra, Fun setting and wonderful lunch menu that included healthy choices

My wife and I recently ate at the Lone Star Cafe on the Riverwalk while vacationing in San Antonio. One of the evenings there we stopped by and read their menu and decided to have dinner with them. Our server was Chris Y. and he was very pleasant, helpful and attentive. We were seated upstairs by the railing and had a great view of the Riverwalk...Seating inside at this and other Riverwalk restaurants just makes no sense...The views are to amazing to miss out on. My wife had the Chicken Cesar Salad and I had the Chicken Ranch Sandwich. Both were well prepared and tasty. Plus they were a nice sized portion. All in all our dinner was excellent and we both enjoyed our visit to the Lone Star Cafe....

While visiting San Antonio, we met our family on the Riverwalk and choose the Lone Star restaurant. It looks great from the outside but lacks luster indoors. Being a steak lover I was hesitant to order the Ribeye. Since the shrimp wasn't available I settled for the RIbeye. Well, I was very disappointed in the quality. While the seasoning was effective the texture was rubbery. It had a pale look to it and not very hot at all. We made the best of it but will pass up Lone Star Steaks on our next visit.

Every time we have family come visit San Antonio this is a stop we must make. This Cafe is a family owned business and the service and food truly show it. Hand battered chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. Steaks Cooked to perfection. Dora is always the server we ask for, she is extremely attentive paying attention to every small detail to ensure it is an enjoyable dinner experience. Nichole (manager) stopped by our table to ask if anything else was needed and with no hesitation removed the things we were done with. Awesome view over looking the river walk. Such a big restaurant with such a small town family owned feel. Highly recommend !!!

We have been to San Antonio 7 times, each time we go to Lone Star, for only the mushrooms, because they are the best we’ve ever had, we have been in SA for three days and ate there everyday …. Happy hour is great, no watered down drinks and the best waitress is KELLY. (She’s a bit cooky, ) but in a wonderfully sweet way!!!

The company I work for hosted a dinner at Lone Star Cafe during our National Sales Meeting. Jean was super helpful in coordinating this event, answering all my questions, and ensuring everything was good to go when we arrived. Dora and Nancy provided excellent service throughout the event - dinner guests were very complimentary on how attentive and fun they were. Also Ron and Alfonso were awesome behind the bar - everyone raved about the team that helped us that night. Overall, the event was a success and the food was delicious.

Great food great server, couldn't ask for anything more.Isabel was a great server. She was really nice to be around, and she cheered me up on a bad day.

We had pulled pork sandwiches, sweet potato fries and beer. The bbq sauce was great, and fries were crispy and delicious. Our Server Alexander Ybarra was excellent! It was our first time to the city and he offered a lot of suggestions regarding places to see and things to do. He was very friendly and service was fast. The restaurant has a great view over looking the river walk.

The hostess was very friendly and greeted us right away. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food came out fast. BBQ sauce is not good! Got the pulled pork sandwich. It was a little dry. Since the sauce was gross, sandwich mediocre at best. Good service and the restaurant was clean. Definitely not worth the price!

This restaurant was very good. I never had bacon jam until I had it here. It was really amazing. The manager and staff were all very, very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Great food-awesome service enjoyed sitting on the patio with the heaters the buffalo chicken sandwich was very good As was the bacon jam hamburger. Will definitely be back. 💕

The food was really good, we had to get to go boxes because the portions were big! Loved the fried pickles with chipotle ranch and Alvin provided excellent service!

Came here for dinner with a colleague. Got steak. Was okay quality. Service was also okay. Location is great, though. Would come again still.

The nacho not the best no meat on them. Kind of looked like diarrhea on chips. We asked for the chili meat to add to it and they were better. We had cheeseburgers and they were pretty good. Staff very friendly and helpful

My boyfriend and I dined in for some steak. Amir was our server, he was very attentive and provided us with amazing service. If you’re ever in San Antonio you should definitely check out lone star cafe !

Date night circa 2019, my significant other and I were making our way to the Alamo via the Riverwalk. The weather made a turnn for the worse and we retreated to something indoors. Having a taste for sweet potato fries, Lone Star Cafe became our destination. Our server Alexander Ybarra was excellent with tons of useful information for the dietary restriction we have. San Antonio is one of my favorite places to visit and we will have multiple trips back to Lone Star Cafe.

We were strolling the Riverwalk and came upon Happy Hour at the Lone Star and decided to stop in for a quick margarita. Our server Kenneth was friendly and provided quick service. The margaritas were perfect as were our chicken wing appetizer. The restaurant was not busy so we enjoyed a leisurely conversation with Kenneth. By the time we left, we felt like we were leaving an old friend!

It's disappointing to give Lone Star Cafe just one star when our server was great and the food was really good. However, they have a male employee (I believe he is a bus boy) who created one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. We were seated outside overlooking the San Antonio river walk. At the table behind us was a young lady and her mother. The Lone Star Cafe employee was so loud and so insistent on 'impressing' the young lady that we grew tired of his courting ritual and asked to be moved. When the young lady and her mother were leaving they asked if we had moved because of them. We assured them it was not them, but the bus boy and his top level volume that caused us to move. The bus boy heard this and said to me, "Are we good?" to which I replied "No. we are not good." At this point the same Lone Star Cafe employee looked at me and said "I'll be right back and we'll have a conversation." I took that for what it was - a threat and prepared for his return expecting a physical confrontation. My girlfriend went to get managements involvement. Upon the bus boys return he got in my face and asked what I wanted to talk about and by that time the kitchen manager and restaurant manager (Joel) were out on the patio and got between us. Joel apologized for the bus boys behavior, said he would address it, I paid our bill and we left. So...if you want to roll the dice and possibly be threatened by a Lone Star Cafe employee in order to get a pretty good meal then stop on in. If not, San Antonio has a lot of good restaurants and it might be a better idea to go some where else.

The Lonestar café overlooks the heart of the restaurant section of the Riverwalk. Great outdoor view. I wanted Texas ribs , but not on the menu. The Texas brisket Hoagie was very good. Beans a plus. Soda was Texas sized.

Good Big Tex burger. However improve communications between the client and the waiter. Nice views of the river.

There are many wonderful places you can choose to eat in San Antonio. This is not one of them. Walk on by. The food was mediocre at best, but one of our party couldn’t cut or chew half his steak. No attention was given to this. Another of our party felt sick shortly after eating here. Our server would disappear for long periods and was rather rude at times. Timing was really off. Salads arrived literally one minute prior to entrees. Half our party had to leave in order to encourage the server to bring the checks.

The view across the Riverwalk through the trees is nice, even from inside the restaurant. It's overpriced like everywhere else on the Riverwalk with the burgers, similar to what are $8-9 elsewhere in town, being $13-14 here. (I would never consider a steak here since they are expensive considering the bad reviews they get for them.) The onion rings are very good, but you have to pay a lot extra to exchange your fries for them. Happy hour margaritas ($3) are rather weak and very small--my first one was watery, but I could sense a little tequila in the second one. Cobbler, which others rave about, was sizzling and okay. I was also here for an alumni reception a year ago and got the same sense of the place. For the Riverwalk area, I gave it a 3/5 rating, but for elsewhere in town, it would drop a point or two and probably would never visit it.

We were walking the riverwalk after a long day. All we wanted was a great burger, beer and football! We found all at lone star cafe! They sat us directly in front of the games we’re wanted to watch. Kelly was our delightful, knowledgeable waitress. Very helpful with the menu. We ordered the Texas bacon jam burger. It was cooked perfectly medium. The bacon jam was fabulous with just enough tough of sweetness. We met Charlie the creator of the dish. He is clearly an artist in his craft. He had such pride in his creation. I can’t wait to go back to see what he constructs next. I highly recommend this casual, yet special place for everyone. The riverwalk can get a little pompous, but this was a welcome change to just relax and enjoy a great experience! Look for the sheriff outside! He will not lead you astray!

Friendly staff, quite good food and drinks variety. Enjoyed my meal with good local atmosphere. There are different seating options, I tried inside

If there were an option for negative stars this place would earn them. We dropped in for a quick lunch. After being seated, we were entirely ignored for roughly 10 minutes as servers all stood around mere feet from our table gossiping and chatting. Eventually one of the servers gossiping yelled back to the kitchen, “Hey Penelope you’ve got people out here waiting.” Eventually Penelope appeared. She didn’t seem pleased to be out taking our order, but we did manage to get an order placed. It took forever for food to come out, despite the cafe being nearly empty (which probably should have been the first clue to stay away). Our order included two burgers, fries with one burger and onion rings with the other. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. However, as my companion was drinking her beverage we noticed an anomaly with the drink. It looked as though someone had spit in the drink or otherwise tampered with it. Of course, our server was once again nowhere to be found. We decided it was time to settle the check and get out of this establishment. Eventually I stood up and wandered around the place hoping to get someone who could give me our bill. Apparently seeing me wander around, Penelope did come over. I informed her we were ready to pay and leave. Rather than providing me a bill, she rattled off a total from the screen of her handheld ordering device. I explained to Penelope that I wanted a printed ticket. She huffed and walked away, although she did return with a ticket. The total bill? $60 for the burgers, sides, and the tampered-with drink. Unbelievable! No apology for the terrible service, and no offer to remedy the spit-in drink. There are lots of great dining options in the area. This is not one of them. A good place to steer clear of. If you do roll the dice and venture inside, check your drinks and food carefully or you might become the next victim of spitting waitstaff (or whatever was in that drink).

Everything’s BIGGER in Texas, so they say. Texans sure talk the talk, and at Lone Star Cafe, let’s just say those Texans walk the walk! My rack of ribs were the best I’ve ever had. They were meaty, smoked to perfection, and I loved that the sauce was served on the side. My wife’s wings were sauced to perfection. Wings are tough to mess up, but lots of places tend to over dredge them in sauce. These were spot on. Speaking of spot on, our waiter Roman D. was on the money. On top of being friendly, all of our drinks were brought out immediately. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

The hostesses were fantastic, efficient, wonderfully friendly, and effective. Balcony seating does not disappoint. But although we were seated quickly considering how busy the area was, our server did not appear for over 20 minutes! Finally we asked another server who alerted our server that we didn't even have menus yet. Every step of the process took FOREVER although we watched other tables come and go. The menu is not extensive. I chose Luckenbach pork chops which were so dry and tasteless, all white meat and overcooked. I could only eat 1 of them although they were tiny. The potatoes were forgettable and I ate all of the veg, which was the best part of my plate. My husband had a T-bone that he said was "meh". That was my impression of it too. He didn't ask for a bite of my pork chops. The burger my son ordered w/o aioli came with aioli. We'd waited so long to get it, and then for the server, Pedro, by the way, to appear again, my husband and I were about finished eating and so we asked them to remove the burger from the check. For 2 meals, one tea, one soda, and 1 beer, our check was just under $80 before tip. Of course it was going to be expensive, but we wanted the quality of food and service to match. Our check would have had more beers on it but it was not possible to get our server around to serve them. Hopefully other menu items are more adeptly executed but with so few choices, all at premium prices, all should be impressive.

The food was excellent. Isabel was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Great suggestions. The desert was fabulous as well.

I’d choose somewhere else. The place was just ok. Had a steak and fries. Steak was ok but fries were terrible. Salad was just average. Service was good but food wasn’t

My server Amir was fantastic! He made my family and I feel very welcomed at the lone star cafe. The host Kindle made us feel very welcomed as well. Great restaurant and atmosphere overall.

After walking around the Riverwalk, it was nice to sit and enjoy a good meal. The restaurant overlooks the Riverwalk, and service was great. I had the country fried steak and it was good. Reasonable prices, as well. They have a full bar, too.

This place is hard to fault. Dog friendly and Danny was really great. Super fast service with a smile and dog water as well!

Day before thanksgiving. Dora served us with the best smile everrr! We will be back for sure! Best happy hour also!

Went there yesterday night, was seated by the nicest host she was young bright and friendly. Seth, our waiter on the other hand was not. He took about 10 minutes just to greet us, and he was more focused on a 6 top sitting next to us. He passed us 3 times to go and talk to them and attend to them, each time he came to the table it was very by the book drinks, food, done. No friendly no thing, he wasn’t even there to check us out his manager had to because he couldn’t be found. Very terrible service, other than that the food was great and so was my drink I would have liked to have more but my server wasn’t around.

Dora, our server ensured our meal orders were taken promptly and food was served efficiently. Very friendly. The food: just ok. I had a rib eye. While it was cooked to order at a med rare, the cut was just not a good cut. Very little marbling or flavor. The stand out of the meal were the vegetables of the night. Small cut squash of different types. Very tasty. Good margarita. So, 3 stars for food. I would up that to 4 for good service.

We had an excellent dinner at Lonestar Cafe. It was our 1 year wedding anniversary dinner and wanted to have the perfect evening dinner. Our server Jesus R made that happen by promptly taking care of our needs with great customer service. The food was excellent and we even have some leftovers for our trip home. Thanks to Jesus and Lonestar Cafe for a great experience!

I had the taco meal and wife had steak - meals were good - service was very good - wait staff was always near - nice outdoor dining space - very fair prices on the riverwalk - we would come back for sure.

They boasted this was a "Family owned Texas Steakhouse". The food was ok, not great. The service and ambience was more like a diner. For a quick bite, I would recommend, but if you want a dining experience, or if you are a foodie, you can find a lot better on the Riverwalk.

We had the opportunity to stop into the Lone Star Cafe for a bit to eat and had a fantastic experience. The food and drink were spot on but who made our evening was our server Ronald R. What an incredible employee and an asset to the business. Ronald was very informative and charming. He anticipated our needs and truly made our dinner something special. Hats of to Ronald R for showing us some true Southern Hospitality.

They have great lunch specials and it's convenient since my Jobsite is down the street. Ask the host to sit you in Alejandro Ybarra's table, amazing customer service.

Our server Dora was amazing, she was very attentive. Our food was out so fast, absolutley no complaints! Wonderful service /food!

I went as my first time and didn’t know what to expect. Amir was my server and didn’t disappoint. He always checked up on me and made me feel welcomed. Would definitely go back.

Ordered the BBQ platter. Food was good but portion was definintely not "Texas" size. The server was very nice and competent. Beer was delicious and the price paid was reasonable. All in all a good place to eat on the Riverwalk.

Food was very good and the service was fast had a wonderful experience and a superb server Dora. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

We went out for Steaks and Beer. Wanted a middle of the road-experience. The food was just what we were looking for. Delicious Steaks and Fries. I had the pecan pie for dessert - it was was nothing special. We did not have reservations for 7:00pm on a Tuesday. We arrived on the River Walk and were informed that we would be inside upstairs. No problem. We walked by many open tables to the Street-Side room where one other couple was seated. We didn't like the wobble table, so the waiter moved us to the next table but it was filled with evergreen needles from the Christmas decorations stacked next to us in bins. We moved ourselves to a nice, clean, sturdy table. Wait staff wasn't sure if we could sit there. It had 4 chairs but was bigger so most likely for 6 people instead of just us 3. The other couple left and no one else was seated in this room for the entire time we were there. It was like eating the the storage room. It was fine. We had a nice quiet dinner but it felt strange.

Well the burger was not fresh is a frozen patty better choices to be had on the menu. Only your waiter can get you a drink person behind the bar refused to do a refill told her where I was sitting who my waiter was and refused only he can although he hadn’t been seen for over 15 min. Embarrassing to bring customers here

Went here because I was looking for some good Texas brisket. Unfortunately, this is NOT the place to go. The brisket sandwich was terrible, only to be topped by that awful “BBQ sauce”. I know Texas brisket and sauce, and this tomato sauce sorry excuse for BBQ was not it. Now, granted it was hot outside, but the waitress could have actually come outside to check on us, instead of just yelling from the doorway, no excuses. And, pigeons were everywhere. I get it, they are there, but they were on tables, and NO ONE cleaned them before seating a customer. Gross, gross and gross. Will never go back.

We had a very good lunch, the pork ribs were very well prepared, we asked only that, with the accompaniment was enough for both of us. The place is very nice, by the river. The service was very good and friendly

My husband and I split a 16 oz ribeye and sweet potato fries. It was plenty of food for people watching their portions. The ribeye was flavorful, but not as tender as I expected. We were able to cut it with a knife easily, and it did melt into our mouths. The service was good by Christian and he was attentive to filling my water glass and checking with my husband about his beer. The food was served HOT, and I really appreciated the fries that way. We enjoyed outdoor seating and were able to look over the Riverwalk and river.

One of the best restaurants I have been to on the riverwalk. Our server Amiri Hooper was excellent, and fast. We came as a surprise to them and he responded quickly making sure the tour went smooth even though it was last minute. On top of that the food came out super quick. Amazing overall, also great job by the managers running around trying to help everyone !! #Satisfied

I will never go back. The food was not good at all. Not worth the time and money we wasted trying to have dinner here! Margaritas were not strong tasted like lemonade. The water tasted nasty ugh it was just a bad experience over all..

We stopped for a Bailey’s and coffee while watching the scene on the Riverwalk. Hector our server was great but when he served our second shot of Bailey’s with our coffee refill, I asked what was up?! The shot glass was less than half full. He explained that the manager, Pam, had poured the second shot and she refused to make it right. If that wasn’t bad enough, she also refused to come out and explain to us. Poor Hector was put in such an awkward position. I’m guessing the staff doesn’t appreciate that any more that we did! Shame on her!

Service was great. The staff isn’t very knowledgeable on gluten free. The burger tasted like a frozen burger patty. Fries were to salty to eat.

Went to lone star for our anniversary , we sat outside , and Amir was our server , and he was excellent, we didn’t have to wait long for anything , he always checked up on us and we had a long friendly conversation and he is just a kind person , definitely will be back for the catfish and for Amir’s service

First time in San Antonio and hit this place before heading out of town. Great setting right on the River Walk and food was good. Would go back again. Our waiter Alvin was great. Not your typical waiter, but was very polite and did a great job! Pay the $15 for the mariachi band it’s worth it.

We were greeted on the River Walk by a hostess. We looked at the menus, and she made recommendations upon our request. We were seated promptly, and our drink orders were taken. Our waiter was amiable and appeared knowledgeable about the menu. After ordering, our food came out very fast, and our steaks were cooked appropriately per our request. Overall, everything was perfect, and our waiter did a great job.

Alvin was our server and he was such a delight! He was so attentive and upbeat and he had the best personality. Thank you so much for the best service in San Antonio!!

We had a very nice lunch at Lone Star Café. The waiter Alexander Ybarra was very good and gave us good very good service.

Nicely decorated, clean and tidy premises. Varied menu. Staff friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful. Thoroughly recommend.

We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday. No wait at all. Nice view from the 2nd floor in the shade. Food was good, and served quickly. Margarita was weak, not worth the $12. They had lunch specials and a kids menu with moderate prices. Overall, good service and a nice lunch.

Unfortunately this place is a tourist trap. If you don't mind bad food, this place is OK. It's situated right on the River Walk where it's crowded, with tons of people walking around, lots of restaurants and colorful boats. However the food was a disappointment. Everything we ordered was overly salted and the drink was overly sweet. The server was nice though.

Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the river walk. Friendly staff and good service with varied menu, all reasonably priced. Plenty going on around the dining area and sports screens behind the bar.

Great place to eat. The tall young man Amir was my server and did a great job. I ordered a steak medium well with mashed potatoes and green beans and it tasted delicious Aamir was a fine young server that helped me and serve me great drinks

Kept asking to take pictures of us and gave us free food. Really weird establishment felt uncomfortable the whole time. Got free food out of it I guess. Wouldn’t come here again by myself as a girl.

The good was delicious. It was a great price and the service was wonderful too. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone.

As an out of Towner I was concerned about all of the restaurants on the Riverwalk being too touristy. The restaurant is nice and quaint, the food is amazing but Alexander Ybarra makes the entire experience worthwhile! He was so gracious and helpful for us indecisive people. I would visit 100 times again if he were to be my server.

This cafe is upstairs, where you can see all that’s going on, but be above the fray! We had a delicious hamburger and a great grilled chicken salad. It was nice to get away from the crowds and eat lunch leisurely while we watched the barges and the people. The service was good, as were the prices.

Amir Hooper was great server. The food was exactly what we wanted. We had the wings not too hot but they hit thebapot

Direct quote from our waitress “ I don’t like this area because, you know none of you are from the area” she didn’t know anything about the menu, stating that she “failed the test”…Now, she wasn’t rude or nasty about it, just stating her option.. the food was good, typical. I will say that I’ve never been to a steak house and not received bread at the table, but that’s no big deal

Today November 27, 2025 me and five of my friends we tried go eat at 237 Losoya St San Antonio, TX 78205 United States we are good customers. We usually go when we are working around the restaurant and we usually go for the whole you can eat. That’s a pile of the policy that the restaurant has anyway we went yesterday the whole crew and today we were gonna eat there again, today we enjoyed the restaurant, but the service is pretty terrible today. The staff refuse to service and they asked for from the radio if it was the workers and they say no on the radio. I believe it’s a super bad super bad to treat your customers like that cycle people to never go to this place because they’re breaking their own policies. I would like to hear from the manager of this restaurant and I hope these make some difference and I hope they fix this issue. The workers have from this restaurant pretty terrible.

service was decent but food came out cold and no flavor -tasted like pre packaged T.V Dinners! food was sent back to kitchen and came back with same results -cold!

The food was horrible - we had queso dip - it was thick cold and nasty - we ordered fried shrimp dinner - wasnt terrible but tasted like it was fresh out of the BOX- then my daughter had baby back ribs- OMG inedible - they were hard as rocks and had a funny taste - we sent the ribs back and the waitress came back and said the manager would give us 1/2 off !!!!! WT Actual F—-soo not only does the food suck so does the customer service ….i should have read reviews before i went….dont even bother climbing the stairs….yuckkkkkkkk

My brother and I were in San Antonio and stopped here for food. It was absolutely excellent and so was the service. Highly recommend it.

Nice pit stop. Nice attentive staff, especially John. Burger was good. Pulled pork sandwich was good. BBQ sauce was bland. Good atmosphere.

Nasty food. From the bread to the desert, passing by their wanna be specialities including their meat. Just bad. I didn’t put one star because it’s edible!

The food was great, but our service was even better. Alvin killed it, we will be coming back before leaving town.

Will be returning on our next trip. Awesome burgers and love the sweet tea! Live music was really nice.

Dora was amazing and efficient the food was hot and out quickly. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant

Larry was very outgoing. Very kind. He can make us laugh loud. Very nice I really like him number one

Me and two of my co-workers stopped here during or lunch break from working at the conference for our agency. Had the chicken salad wrap with fries. The chicken salad was good but messy. They don’t wrap it right and over toast the spinach wrap. I would give it a higher rating if they fix that issue and got the food out faster.

Was a little nervous about trying this place due to Yelp review of 2 stars, however, from the minute we sat down we had excellent service from our waiter Christian. We had chicken fried steak off the special, the burgers and chicken with half rack of ribs were delicious!! Service was impeccable, I wouldn’t go off Yelp ratings. This is a must to eat at!

Have visited the Lone Star Cafe 1-3 times a year for the last 6 years. Our meal last night wasn’t the best we’ve had, my steak was a tad over cooked, however our server Amir Hooper was fantastic!! One of the best we’ve had take care of us here in San Antonio! He was attentive, helpful in recommending items from both the bar and food menu. I would definitely recommend you dropping in if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Stopped for lunch on our way to the Alamo. Very large drinks were quite welcome. Brisket sandwich was pretty good, while the cheddar cheeseburger was quavery impressive. Service was friendly and the location is excellent. Prices were low to moderate.

Alexander Ybarra was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure we knew what the specials were and made suggestions. We had a great meal and delicious drinks.

Delicious and great service. What more??? Price was good, steak cooked to order. Got side wrong so brought me the right one - my husband enjoyed the erroneous Mac & cheese. Beautiful River walk view

Service and atmosphere was great. Food was not good. I ordered the brisket sandwich and It had three small slices of brisket. My daughter ordered the pork sandwich and it was also small on meat. Fries were cold with both sandwiches. My son ordered the $30T-bone and it wasn’t good. Over priced food and very small portions.

my wife had the veggies with the beans I had the pulled pork and fries with beans was very good service was excellent Dora is a good waitress tdefinitely worth the time to stop in and get a meal prices aren't too bad little high on some things but food is definitely

Thank you to Alexander Ybarra for giving us great service for our first time visit from Guam. We will definitely be back in the future!

Came to San Antonio for a last minute girl’s trip and decided to grab dinner at the Lone Star Cafe. We arrived at peak dining time and the three of us were seated immediately! Our waitress, Dora, came to our table and served us promptly. Food was great, and service was IMPECCABLE! Dora was amazing, and if we’re ever in San Antonio again we will definitely stop by to see her and eat some great food!!

Larry aka stubby He is the reason for me coming back. He is very funny and makes us laugh alot. Best

OMG, best happy hour EVER! Two is enough!!! Food is ok. Wait staff very friendly! Nice view. If you want another type of food, stop here first!!!!!

The Lonestar has a fantastic location on the river walk and the drinks are huge! You get a pretty good bang for your buck when it comes to drinks here, but the food and service are average. The steaks we ordered where way over done and our server was not very knowledgeable on the drinks or menu items. Plus I had to ask for our check twice. The live mariachi band was fun and very entertaining. I still enjoyed or view of the river and the portion size was average.

Hard to believe I actually paid $100+ for a couple burgers & a couple of cocktails. Neither were very good. The burgers were overcooked & had no flavor.

Literally just ate here (1st Dec 19:30 and left 20:30). Worst meal I’ve had in San Antonio during two week vacation. Where do we start 1 Appetizers These came out after the “side salad” we asked to be served with our mains 2 Entrees We had barely got into the appetiser and four entrees arrived. We didn’t get to finish in fear of entrees going cold... needn’t of bothered... read on Cross Road Country Fried Chicken was not chicken. It was like a piece of rubber constituted chicken. No way a fresh breast that had been freshly prepared and cooked. Texan Chicken cold Mash. As per the above which had cold mash Both above came with vegetables which were clearly frozen vegetables and lacked any taste. The salad was ok. Tough chicken but more likely from a actual bird. The burger was goodish although dry as a nuns chuff. The cheque... despite using a coupon tried to sneakily pass through a item. Then had cheek to say good job we asked for a print out. Honestly I’m so angry at wasting 80 bucks. May as well have given the money to the homeless. A truly awful meal.

The food was ok - I had a shrimp dinner and it only came with about 7 fried shrimps, two sides - small fries and coleslaw. Husband had catfish dinner which he thought was really good. Daughter had Texas burger and she liked it as well. Service was great and not busy at all going during an off time. Prices a little expensive but was a nice experience I overall.

My server Mr. Danny Workman was great very kind and excellent service. I would definitely go back. I recommend anyone that goes ask for him he made our visit of downtown absolutely fantastic!!

Both of us had the ground sirloin. Excellent and Dora took wonderful care of us. We were early but the place filled up.

Great food and service, right on the riverwalk. One of our favorite places to eat and watch the people on the riverwalk.

I stopped by for a quick lunch in the middle of the week. Had a Texas Pecan Chicken Salad, and it was very good. The service was fast. Always take advantage of the chance to eat outside on the River! The Lone Star Cafe is very understated, but a good place to eat.

Dora was our server and went above and beyond for us and our furry friend. We will be back on our next visit to the Riverwalk. Thank you Dora!!!

Our server Alvin was amazing! Really good burgers and fries 😁 Beer is also delicious, had a local Almost named one!

Good burgers and great friendly service. Nice family atmosphere over looking the riverwalk. Bbq was good, but sauce was bland.

Had a great meal out on the deck overlooking the Riverwalk, for a great price with terrific service by our waiter Alexander Ybarra.

The server was very quick and nice. Good was excellent. Dessert was also good. Great view from our table also.

Service was great, food was great! The view of the river walk while we ate was fantastic! The parade of on the river was great as we ate! Heaters were available due to it being chilly outside.

Great food! Great margaritas! Great view of the Riverwalk! The prices for being on the Riverwalk were decent. Our waitress Dora took such good care of us, even though it was close to closing time. We’ll definitely put Lone Star Cafe at the top of our list of places to eat on the Riverwalk when we come to SA again.
Pulled Pork Sandwich, Pecan Salad
Nice location, attentive service, reasonable prices. Watching the birds and the tour boats pass on the river channel was entertaining.
