Holy @&%^ this is the BEST pizza

By James S |

while in Philly yesterday we stopped in their Little Italy to look around. we found ourselves on the corner of 9th and Christian and my son said "let's get a slice" so as we walked away sharing a slice we both said " this is the best pizza I have ever had". This is the truth people and I wished we had this place in Pittsburgh!!!

Best pizza. Ever.

By renner620 |

If your looking for fancy, skip this. If you want the best pizza in Philadelphia, do lot go anywhere else. It's a little corner spot in Philadelphia's Italian Market that doesn't look like much but is proof that looks aren't everything. You can go inside to one of a few tables and eat, of order at the window on the sidewalk. They have more on the menu than pizza, but the pizza is so fantastic, that's all we ever get. The crust is the perfect combination of chewy and crispy. The sauce has a robust tomato taste. The mozzarella has a hint if saltiness that sets it apart from the bland cheese so often used in pizza. There is no room for improvement here. We never go to the Italian Market without getting a slice from Lorenzo.

A Solid Sandwich Without the Cult Following

By herb v |

A new stop on the 'Tour d'Cheesesteak', this time in the Italian Market of Philadelphia. And not bad, with everything that goes in to a good sandwich - tender meat, good bread, melted cheese. All in all, a very good sandwich. Just wish the wait for three of them had been shorter. And a few tables on the street as well as some inside. Lot of other choices as well, looked like some pretty good pizzas - next time

The best I food I have ever had!

By ReneeFrancis |

The food was delicious and I would go back anytime. The pizza is the best in town and the cheese steaks are delicious, the rolls are so fresh. The staff was friendly and the price is right. If your looking for good food Lorenzo's is the place!

Amzing!

This is my favorite place to go. I eat here for lunch every Saturday after my art classes at Fleischer. The cheese steaks are the best especially with sweet peppers and onions. Try the Italian hoagie the Sicilian pizza or the cheese steaks. Amazing! try them soon! The location is perfect to because while your at lunch you can explore the Italian market. :)

Great south Philly joint

By MaromaBeach |

We had the cheesesteaks. They were awesome, we tried this place because it was closer than walking to Genos & Pat's. We sat outside on some chairs on a nice summer day. The sandwich was well made I would highly recommend.

THE BEST PIZZA

By Stephani S |

Happened upon Lorenzo's while stroll The 9th Street Italian Market. Boy were we surprised! The Pizza was perfection. Crunchy think crust with the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. And the sausage. . . marone a mi ! Very Friendly service.

Perfect pizza, and personally my favorite place for cheesesteaks.

Perfect pizza, and personally my favorite place for cheesesteaks.

My favorite cheesesteak and restaurant in Philly!

By Kloe C |

I lived in Philly for 3 years, every time I am back I have to make a trip to Lorenzo's. By far my favorite cheesesteak in town and the best atmosphere. By that I mean, nothing nice, but great Philly people. The same 3 guys are working every time I go and they are great. Definitely a family business! Skip Geno's and Pat's and get a steak here, way more authentic!

I love this place

By Nutmeg06878 |

I have been visiting Lorenzo's since the mid-1990s, when I happen to be in Philadelphia. I love the Italian market area (which, sadly, seems to be gentrifying a bit) and I love this place. It always looked really scruffy, a plus from my point of view, until there was a fire there last July. Now is is restored and much cleaner looking, which somehow for me takes away from the experience a bit. But have no fear, they apparently haven't cleaned the grill for several generations. The best place to sit is on a stool, facing the incredibly encrusted grill. And the best thing to order, for me, is a Phillie cheese steak slathered with onions and drenched with Cheese Whiz. Pure heaven.

BEST PIZZA ON EARTHH!!!

Italian Market - here we come!

By Leslie04Philly |

Who hasn't eaten there. We've been going there for 25 years and the pizza and cheese steaks are the best in the city. Even when we moved to Jersey 10 years ago, it didn't stop us from visiting George, Keith and John at Lorenzo's. They're the best!

Pizza and Sandwiches

By wddj |

This has been a part of my visits to the Italian market for many years. Good pizza and sandwiches. If your in town for more than a day, don't stop at just the popular cheese steak take out. Walk an extra few blocks and show this spot some love. In my opinion some of the best pizza in Philly. Sandwiches are good too.

Get your cheese steak here!

By darsam2 |

If you want a good cheese steak and pizza, Lorenzo's is the place! Forget all of the tourist spots and stop there. Great food at a great price. You can even sit outside and people watch at the end of the Italian Market. This is a real local pizza shop with friendly Philadelphia service!

Forget about the Pizza - try the Philly Cheese Steak!

By bikenut4ever |

There were 6 of us - we ordered 6 cheese steaks. Nobody was disappointed for sure! Absolutely delicious! Nice friendly guys, great food. A relaxing place to chill and hang for lunch. 9th street a great place to visit in Philly!

Quick delivery and great food!

By Julia K |

Ordered delivery for a family of 6. Everything got devoured and we felt the price was fair for the delicious food. Almost cheaper than a casual fast food dinner for our family! The pizza burgers and strombolis were a big hit!

skip geno's and pat's and go here

By Romantm |

Was on the way to the popular joints to show a friend, and after seeing what they served, decided to go to Lorenzo's. The cheesesteak was fantastic. Service was awesome. Next time I'll add extra cheese. Got it with provolone, fried onions, and mushrooms. Huge, and only $7.00. Remarkable. After hit Anthony's coffee across the street for cap and connoli.

Good, Cheap Pizza By The Slice

By CharlieinTexas |

Stopped in for a slice with my wife, while strolling in the area (Italian Market). Good, not great, slice of cheese pizza. Crust was a tad heavy, and could have been served hotter. Cheese, however, was delicious. Place, itself, had a lot of history feel to it.

That's allotted pizza!

By Pat W |

Great pizza, but huge slices so order accordingly! Best slice in town especially the cheese and sausage. Don't leave Philly without some!

Philly Cheesesteak

By 1BSHICKS1995 |

My second time, eating here in my various travels. This time I ate chicken cheesesteak (provolone) and fries (combo). Some in my group had pizza and steak cheesesteak. No complaints. Btw they offer I think three types of cheese to choose from for your sandwich. Cheesewiz is not one of them. Also to the left of Lorezo at the end of the block is plenty of tables with umbrellas (6ft apart) to eat your food.

Great Pizza

By pletzkeb |

We stopped by Lorenzo’s for a slice of their famous pizza while visiting the Italian Market. You can either go inside, or order from a window on the sidewalk. The pizza dough was freshly made and the pepperoni had just the right spice. It was a very good slice. Lorenzo’s was recognized by Philadelphia Magazine with the "Best of Philly" award for the best slice of pizza in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.

Broccoli Pizza! Yum!

By CaliforniaTravelin |

Quick grab, you can sit next door to eat - no alcohol, just pizza and sandwiches. VERY good food.

Local recommendation for Philly cheese steak.

By Travelsinner |

Not Pat's, nor Geno's. Local spot for Philly cheese steak without frills or theatre. Had the standard recommended sandwich with onions and it tasted great

Favorite pizza in Philly!

By Mersydotes |

These are my favorite slices in the city. It's nothing fancy, but super solid food!

When in Philly....

By joegrink |

If you are looking for great pizza, cheese steaks, hoagies, chicken parm sandwich, this is where you want to go. John makes some of the best sandwiches in town. It's very Philly. Reasonably priced with all the ambiance of the Italian Market. You will leave here full.

BEST cheesesteaks in philly!

By Ashleigh W |

Forget about Pats/Genos, Lorenzos is by far the BEST cheesesteaks. Don't let the atmosphere fool you, these guys make great cheesesteaks, the service is quick and the cheesesteaks are made fresh. Inexpensive, , not greasy at all, didn't leave me feeling sick with a stomach ache after I ate it. The sauce is also delicious, it has a slight sweetness to it. Anyone looking for a cheesesteak has to come here! Remember to bring cash- cash only!

Most delicious pizza

By Brianna M |

My dad recommended Lorenzo's to us, so my husband and I enjoyed a pizza here. We both said it was absolutely the most wonderful pizza we've ever had! We didn't get to try their Philly cheesesteaks, but those looked phenomenal as well.

The Real Cheesesteak in South Philly

By DLL_11 |

We had customers from out of town and wanted to give them the south Philly/Cheesesteak experience. We went to our favorite south Philly cheesteak place and were not disappointed. Fresh mushrooms, juicy meat and fresh rolls. We then went to Pat’s so they could do a photo opp. We bought cheesesteaks for comparison. Recommend taking selfie in front of Pat’s/ Gemnos and go right to Lorenzo’s!

Eat in, Eat out, or get it to go... just GO to Lorenzo's....

By Jim_Naughton |

Sarcone's Hoagies? Way too 'fancy' (read pricey). Ricci's? Good but hardly ever open and no place to park. Pat's and/or Gino's? Too fatty and way too crowded. Morning Glory? Faggedaboudit. Shank and Evelyn's? They moved! No, if you want a good quality, generously portioned, traditional South Philly Italian street sandwich at a great price, it's gotta be Lorenzo's, located on the southwest corner of 9th & Christian, across from Monsu, catty-corner to Triple Play Sporting Goods, and directly opposite Golden Donut. Situated on a prime corner spot at the head of the Italian Market, Lorenzo's is a dusty little no-nonsense, hype-free gem. They have an old fashioned counter with swivel stools and a few tables inside. They have cafe tables and few chairs outside. You can order at the inside cash register, or right at the window. Want pizza? Lorenzo's has generous slices of your choice of Neopolitan (round with thin crusts) and square Sicilian style (Sidgy) with crust an inch thick. Either version is tasty and available by the pie or by the slice. I don't know what kind of tomatoes they use in the sauce but it's thick, sweet, and Mama Mia! Want a hoagie? Lorenzo's are traditional, generously sized and modestly priced (just under $4). I don't think they will raise an eyebrow if you order yours with mayo. (I don't but, hey, it's a free country after all). Steak Sandwich? Best on 9th Street, you don't have to order "in English" (and no crazy lines). Lorenzo's even has ordering instructions in several foreign languages. I guess this helps the visitor and staff deliver tasty cheese-steaks to starving tourists without messing up the order. "Eine Rindfleisch steak und kase mit Zwiebeln auf einer Brotrolle, bitte! "Yo. Gimme one wit' (onions), please." I usually get a plain steak with fried onions, but you can get yours with Provolone, American, or even that awful Wiz stuff. Or with a Pizza Sauce topping. Again, prices are low. I'm thinking around five bucks or so for your starter model. Burgers, fries, nuggets, Cokes. Lorenzo's has those and everything you'd expect from a corner grill. In fact, Lorenzo's has everything except a "facey" front. This is a joint, no doubt about it. If you want to impress somebody, keep walking. If you want a tasty sandwich at a reasonable price, by all means, come to Lorenzo's.

Pizza

By Reba217 |

One of the best large pizzas in town for around 10 dollars. Maybe it's 10.50 now thought ? My only complaint is their hours are too short and I often want a whole pizza when the dinner I make fails. :)

Great Pizza! Cheap Eats!

By bdevine319 |

Great slice of cheese pizza for $2.00. So good we went back for another. Right in the heart of the Italian Market, so bring cash, as many establishments only accept cash payments.

Philly's best pizza --Lorenzo's

By susieqchalfont |

Best pizza I ever tasted. Recommend to anyone who visits Philadelphia. Lorenzo's at 9th and Christian

Yummy! Why else would so...

By Megan M |

Yummy! Why else would so many of us wait in line so long for a single slice of pizza??

Tradition!

By Trickstersawpix |

I fly in from TX to PA once or twice a year...first place I want to go is Lorenzo's...35 years in the same place, with the same people, same fabulous pizza. The crust is just exactly the right thickness and texture, toppings are plentiful, sauce primo. Love the atmosphere and the entire experience. I am hoping to get by there again before leaving the NE this year. GO to Lorenzo's for the best pizza ever. My grandkids have eaten regular menu items and everything we have gotten is great. And I love the fact it is in the Italian Market area...great area to stroll around looking at a variety of foods!

Pizza was good, but doesn't make me crave a slice like Lorenzo's and Sons do. However they do offer different toppings...

By Lawrence L |

Pizza was good, but doesn't make me crave a slice like Lorenzo's and Sons do. However they do offer different toppings on individual slices unlike L & S's

You gotta try it at least once

By Tucker E |

Bigger than your head slice, excellent sauce, maybe a bit too much mozzarella...definitely worth your time.

Pretty good but not the best.

By mike h |

We hit 3 highly ranked pizza joints and this was our 2nd favorite. It's good stuff, but it didn't measure up to Soho's in Old City (was really shocked us) which was great, gotta fold it, must try stuff. If you're in The Italian Market and want good pizza, go here. If you have the idea to try the famous Geno's or Pat's for cheesesteak while your in the area, still go here for the pizza instead and just about anywhere else for cheesesteak.

REAL ITALIAN PIZZA

By Nebulette |

Cheap and good! Great value in the heart of the Italian market.

Skip the Sicilian pizza

By Kirbyk |

Rumor has it that the location on South St offers a bigger portion of a better product. I think I made the mistake choosing Sicilian over Neopolitan pizza. Great yeasty bread but almost no sauce or cheese. There must be thousands of pizza choices in Philly but this style at this shop can be skipped.

huge slices

By njmomongo |

Pizzas 28 inches, so a slice is huge and delicious, great location on South St, perfect lunch or afternoon snack.

Best philly cheese steak...really?

By HikerMom58 |

We spend the day walking and it was time to eat. My kids said they had to have a cheese steak...so we were directed to Lorenzos. Underwhelming was my son's description and I have to agree the meat was tender and tasty but they seemed to forget the onions...maybe 3 small pieces and there was hardly any cheese. My husband had a sausage on a bun and raved about the flavour.

Great Authentic pizza place

By jellies245 |

Italian market must! They have great pizza at great prices and the employees are always a lot of fun. They do pizza toss competition at the Italian market festival that is lots of fun!

Great pizza

By Tom D |

Love Lorenzo's pizza, I grew up in this area and moved away, so when I visit it is always a place I need to stop.

Great Pizza

By Judy R |

We weren't expecting much, was more of a greasy spoon. The pizza was excellent! We sat outside and had our pizza. Inside the restaurant was very hot. This place is more take out then eat in. Thin crust with a nice tomato sauce. We had the Margarita pizza. Was an unexpected surprise...do recommend it.

very good

By MaryJanetravles |

My husband loved this pizza! Small place but work it to grab a cut.

Lorenzo's Pizza has Great Pizza, Hoagies and Cheesesteaks!

By Marc R |

We spent several days visiting Philly for a high school reunion and by our last day still hadn't had a good slice of pizza, a good cheesesteak, or a good hoagie. By providence, we found excellent renditions of all three at Lorenzo's!!! We split a hoagie, cheesesteak, and a pizza slice and left satisfied beyond our imagination! In fact, somehow, we didn't even get heartburn. The pizza was well cooked, flavorful, and had the right blend of crispness vs. softness. The hoagie came perfectly seasoned with the right meats, cheese, and condiments. Their bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Our cheesesteak was also delicious. The meat, cheese, toppings, and even the bread are all cooked together on the grill in layers. The finished product is turned over by a spatula and served up fresh and hot! If Lorenzo's was in our city, we'd eat there way too often! It was outstanding!

simply the best!

By rduinc |

I lived in Philly for three years, ate at many restaurants, there were a few that had better cheesesteak, but for food AND atmosphere, this place was the best. The first two times I was there they played nothing but Sinatra on the radio, combined with the food, and the awesome people made for a true food experience. They make a great pizza as well. Forget about Geno's and Pat's down the street, unless you like hype and over priced food. Walk down a few blocks and give this place a shot, you won't regret.

Friendly staff and tasty eats

By rleNewEngland |

We traveled to Pine St. on a touristy Ho-ho bus. Walking the several blocks south, we landed at Lorenzo's around lunchtime. Enjoyed our pizza and Italian hoagie at their outside/sidewalk seating. Not a fancy place, but offering a solid menu.

Lorenzo pizza

By lisa w |

Best pizza and steaks in the city. Mushroom pizza was the best I've had and the slices are huge. Parking is rough being this is a huge hangout section in the city for us residents and also tourists. Long lines move pretty fast and so worth the wait

Smelled to good to pass on by

By degrawm |

I wasn't hungry when we arrived but the smell they were putting out was making my stomach growl. So we just had to have a slice each. OMG it was so good and its been so long since I've had a decent pie. Definitely recommend.
